Miss Ellie Ewing has reached her limit. After 45 years of marriage to oil baron Jock Ewing, she calmly walks into her lawyer's office and requests a divorce with the same level of emotion one might display when ordering coffee. It's not just about the swamp preservation project – it's about decades of putting Ewing Oil before family, watching her favorite son Gary flee the toxicity, and feeling increasingly isolated despite being surrounded by wealth. The courtroom showdown over Swamp Lake pits Jock's "Slightly Dusted But Never Busted Billionaire Boys Club of North Texas" against Ellie's Daughters of the Alamo preservationists. Meanwhile, JR orchestrates backdoor deals with West Star Oil, Sue Ellen contemplates leaving her loveless marriage for Cliff Barnes, and Leslie strategically positions herself to capture JR's wealth without any genuine affection. The chess pieces move across multiple boards as the Ewing empire threatens to fracture from within. Bobby emerges as the unlikely peacemaker, securing a compromise by purchasing a third parcel of land. But the true emotional breakthrough comes from Ray Krebs, whose heartfelt offer to renounce his inheritance to save Jock and Ellie's marriage finally breaks through Ellie's resentment. Barbara Bel Geddes delivers a masterclass in subtle acting as she portrays Ellie's journey from righteous anger to reconciliation, culminating in her acceptance of Ray as a true Ewing. This episode exemplifies primetime soap opera perfection – high stakes family drama, corporate scheming, emotional reconciliation, and the complex psychology of wealth and power. Whether you're new to Dallas or returning to relive its golden age, join us as we unpack every nuanced relationship and calculated move in this pivotal chapter of the Ewing family saga.

Hello, gorgeous, miss me?

(00:52):
I hope so.
Miss y'all.
Hope your day is shaping upwell.
Mine is not bad, not not halfbad.
We had the nerve to not be atriple digit.
Today I'm on 10.
That, to me, is man.
You can't buy that kind of joy.
I'm going to challenge myself.

(01:14):
Since we are rolling into thethird episode of Dallas, I want
to see if I can condense thisone down, get the main points
and see if I can actually do itin under 25 minutes.
Y'all want to take that bet.
I know they say to bet onyourself, but I don't know if I
would, but on this case I thinkI might be able to do it.

(01:35):
Ewing versus Ewing brings itall home in the best possible
way.
So go ahead and pour yourselfup something bubbly and bright
as we jump into season four, episode 20, dallas Ewing versus
Ewing.
Maybe I ought to say 35 minutes, let's try, let's try 30.

(01:55):
There is a song that was verypopular when I was gosh.
I don't remember, oh God, Idon't know if that came out in
the 99s or the 2000s.
Somewhere around there.
It is by a man we no longerspeak of.
Turns out he had a terriblepast, was doing very awful
things, allegedly.
But the phrase goes a littlesomething like if a woman is fed

(02:16):
up I didn't really understoodwhat that meant and I actually
got.
I should probably look that upbecause I'm not even sure if he
sings that.
I'm sure there's 99 differentreiterations of that same song,
and R&B music and country musicfor sure.
But when a woman knows it's,she's done.
She's done for real, for real.
Imagine that woman is amatriarch who's been married to

(02:39):
the same man 45 years.
You can imagine her reactionwhen she wakes up one morning
and she's like you know what I'mdone?
It's going to be different thanit would have been if she was
20.
Maybe there would have beensome hooping and hollering and
carrying on, but in her 60s, whywould I do a fool thing like
that?
Ellie Ewing is fed up.

(03:00):
Ellie Ewing has had a wonderfulnight's sleep.
She's got somebody to drive herinto Dallas.
It is her new pseudodaughter-in-law, donna.
Donna, I'm getting a divorce.
Take me down to Lincoln.
Lincoln is her lawyer.
Donna's like hey, don't youthink you're taking it too far?
I've not taken it far enough.
Take me to see my lawyer, donna.

(03:22):
She is as cool and as calm andcollected as anyone has ever
been ever.
It's as if she's going to thefarmer's market versus to the
divorce lawyer.
So Lincoln happens to be a guywho's known she and jock forever
.
He don't want to hear that.
He's like hey, hey, hey, youguys have been married by what?
40 years.
She says I'd like a divorce now, please.

(03:44):
But, ellie, surely you guys canwork that out.
Lincoln, I'd like a divorce now, please.
She puts the emphasis ondifferent syllables so that he
can understand.
She says she's done.
Hand me this divorce, but thinkabout all that you've built.
She goes oh that empire.
To hell with it.
That cost me love and it costme my family.
To hell with that whole thing.

(04:07):
Give me my divorce, lincoln.
I'm kind of tired of repeatingmyself, baby.
So if you don't give me mydivorce, somebody else will.
Lincoln feels a way.
He's an old friend.
Listen, ellie, I understand.
I just got to think about it alittle bit.
Lincoln promptly gets in hisautomobile and drives down to
Ewing Oil and tells JR hey, yourmom and daddy came to see me
about a divorce.
You think you can talk to them?

(04:28):
We can't let this happen.
Surely they can work it out.
Surely JR's like I understand.
I understand completely.
As soon as the man leaves, heimmediately gets on the phone,
calls up his friend and Jeremyis like hey, you better get that
sale rolling ASAP, go ahead anddo what you got to do.
Everyone is focused, but Donnaseems to be rocked the most out

(04:51):
of all this.
She cannot believe this is allhappening, even after Ellie
explained hey, this ain't aboutthe swamp thing.
This is so much bigger than aswamp.
This man has robbed me of 45years of my life.
Meanwhile, on the other side oftown, bobby goes to talk to Jock
in his hotel motel.

(05:11):
Actually, no, this is a hotelsuite.
I will not disrespect it in anyother way.
Bobby's like Daddy, please, please, think about this.
Jock ain't trying to hear that.
All Jock wants to know is Bobby, how soon are you going to vote
in favor of me?
Bobby's like you can't possiblythink I could vote against
either one of you.
This is very difficult.

(05:32):
You understand that, right?
Jock says I understand I'm yourdaddy and I know whose son you
are, so I know who you betterpick.
As if Ellie's, not his mother.
Bobby's kind of tired of this.
Bobby seems like a veryexhausted kindergarten teacher
who would really, really like togo home and watch this episode
of Jeopardy that he has recorded.
Him seen it all week.

(05:52):
His kids been ripping andrunning, running and ripping.
He just wants to go home.
So he's like daddy, if I cancome up with a solution, would
you be okay?
Would you just chill?
Would you take it?
And jock's like well, I mean, yeah, so he's clearly done that.
He's got way more hufflepuff.
I left out a little bit, butit's not super important.
Jock is way louder and moreboisterous about leaving ellie

(06:14):
if he got a divorce, or so be it.
I ain't selling out my friends,I'll take the divorce.
I'll take the divorce.
And she's like, okay, cool, Iwant a divorce.
He's clearly gonna flip outbecause she don't give a damn
about the money.
Okay, so you remember on thelast episode Cliff had that
friend he ran into.
Friend's name is David.
David, cliff's homeboy isworking with Jeremy the banker.

(06:36):
So Jeremy calls David back downto his office and he tells him
he wants him to work with JR.
Now David's like well, why, whyshould I Not?
In a disrespectful way he seemsjust very, this is his everyday
life.
Information is just information, doesn't seem to be malicious,

(06:56):
he's just kind of living life.
Jeremy the guy, the banker guyis like well, you know as well
as I know he's a little bitnervous about whatever happened
in Southeast Asia.
So let's just keep an eye onthat.
But I want you to cooperatewith him.
Anything Cliff tells you, youtell JR, but make sure you tell
me first, especially if it'sreally juicy.

(07:17):
I want to know before JR.
They're all but certain thathe's the one who backed the
revolution.
So on the other side of town JRis gathering all the fund
information on Ewing Oil.
He wants to know how much theirassets are worth.
How much is everything worthexcluding South Fork?
Yeah, please leave that alone, because last time he almost
effed that up.
Eventually, david, whose lastname was Stratton, shows up to

(07:39):
JR's office.
Jr already knows what's up.
He knows that blonde bankerJeremy sent him over there.
He already knows that he'sgoing to be feeding him
information as well.
He's like cool, do what you gotto do.
Since everybody knows what's up, I need you to get as much
information from Cliff aspossible.
And the dude's like well, likewhat kind of information?
I just need you to tell me whathe knows about me.

(08:01):
That's JR.
Tell me what he knows about meand bring that information back
to me.
That's all you got to do.
David's like okay, cool, but Imean, this is a mutual
relationship.
He's probably going to wantsome information.
Jr's like baby, nobody's betterat BS than me.
I can feed you all sorts of BSinformation about me to feed to
him.
It is what it is, but just keepan eye on him.

(08:27):
So, understandably, this davidguy could be in a really tough
position, but it seems like he'sjust.
He's not really playing anybody, he's just telling the tea that
he does know.
So ellie gets home and she'slike oh hey, pam, nice, jerry
curl, listen, I'm completelythrough with jock.
Jock and I have seared ourmarriage vows and to the curb,
as he shouts, be kicked.
Donna's just like wow, missellie.

(08:49):
Wow, I can't believe this ishappening.
Ellie walks off, she mindingher business, living her best
life.
Pam was like dang, people are175 years old.
I can't even imagine them notbeing married.
And sue ellen's like I can'tbelieve they lasted this long.
Quite honestly, donna has anerve to be upset.
So this, this could be calledewing versus ewing, versus ewing

(09:11):
versus ewing or versus krebs.
Donna is new to this.
She ain't true to this.
Sue ellen has been to hell andback 14 different times.
She's on the verge of beingdumped this episode.
She don't even know it yet, butshe knows what it is as ellie
tried to break it down for donnathe night previous girl being

(09:32):
married to these ewing fools isnot for the faint of heart.
I've had my share.
You do what you do.
Good luck to you and ray krebs.
Sue ellen says pretty much thesame thing, like listen, that's
real cute.
I know you've been married allof 14 minutes, but when I tell
you.
This ain't for the faint ofheart.
Good for Miss Ellie Show.
Hope she gets a good settlementout of all this.

(09:53):
Pam's just like damn, that'scrazy.
Let me go fluff my hair.
Sue Ellen is living thatdifferent life.
Not only is she out playingtennis with Clint in broad
daylight, he is bold enough totake her to his I guess data
center.
I don't know what you wouldcall it.
It's a room.
He shows her his operation, basically, and explains to her

(10:20):
you know how much information alittle computer chip can hold,
and he would give all that upjust to be with her.
It's time that she made him, orhe made her, his wife.
And she once again is like hey,you know, it's kind of a bad
timing.
You know what I mean.
I don't think we should bedoing all that.
It's not the best idea, buthe's had enough.
He's flipping.
He didn't flip out, but he doesget upset.
He's loud in front of all ofhis employees.
He's like listen, I want you tobe my wife.

(10:47):
I don't have mistresses, I needa wife room full of engineers.
Ms Whelan's like I'm sorry, Ican't.
He's like you know what?
Then call me when you can.
I don't do side, I'm not a sidedude Starting to feel a little
bit dirty and you know who elseisn't a side dude, or broad Ms
Leslie.
Leslie has found herself akiller office Back JR's place,

(11:09):
or his office.
Rather, she has a blueprint forthis amazing office downtown
with this perfect view ofdowntown Dallas.
It's got a bar, it's got akitchen.
It even has a bedroom in caseyou want to stay over and sleep
after work.
It's amazing.
She's just going on and onabout how fantastic it is and
JR's like yeah, I told you I'dtake care of you, right?
You see, you see, you see, oh,yes, jr, I see, it's wonderful.

(11:31):
This is all a ploy to keep himon the hook.
He is getting excited bywatching her excitement.
He has provided her withsomething.
She's suddenly showing moreemotion than she's ever shown
before In order to keep him onthe hook too.
He's like well, you know thiswhole thing with my dad and my
mom.
I just don't know what's goingto happen.
She goes oh, don't worry, jared, maybe I'll just keep a small
office.
Maybe I don't need all thisspace.

(11:51):
He insists that she keep thisspace because he wants her.
He wants her so badly.
She leans in and she kisses himalmost as if she wasn't really
thinking about it.
She then draws back and goes toturn, but it's as if oh my God,
that was magnetic.

(12:12):
I must, I am compelled to kissyou again, and she does this.
This is all feeding into hisego.
This is all part of her supersecret, perfectly executed and
laid out plan.
We know this because later on inher apartment, her ex-husband
comes by Craig.
We've seen Craig a couple oftimes Now.
He's like girl, you reallythink you're going to marry JR?
You really want to do that?
She's like I mean, yeah, he canafford me all sorts of things,

(12:36):
plus, being adjacent to his nameis a very powerful move for me.
I think I'm going to do quitewell.
Craig says well, do you lovehim?
She's like oh my God, grow up.
What am I?
She's like oh my God, grow up,what am I?
12?
No, I don't love him.
He has resources.
I am resourceful.
This is a match made inmoney-making heaven and I'm

(12:56):
definitely going to take up theopportunity if it presents
itself.
So they finish off their littlecocktails and he gets up to
leave and he starts lookingaround kind of tongue-in-cheek,
like she says what are you doing, craig?
Just making sure I'm notrecorded.
She cackles like boy.
I stopped recording you the dayour divorce was done.
Don't even worry about it.
See you later, baby.
Love her focus.

(13:17):
Someone who's a little lessfocused is cliff.
Now he is hitting the sauce morethan normal lately, turning
into digger barnes just a littlebit.
You can kind of see how that'sstarting to have a trickle down
effect on him.
You lose something to the uans.
You wash your sorrows away witha little bit.
You can kind of see how that'sstarting to have a trickle down
effect on him.
You lose something to the youand you wash your sorrows away
with a little beverage.
So he's back at the, a lunchplace.
He's back with the twins or thegirls he was with when david

(13:39):
was with him, and they'rechatter, chatter, chittering.
He stands up to leave.
While he looks over he sees jgwentworth and his sister.
He, oh, I don't like that atall.
He thinks that this woman, rebecca, or he doesn't know her
first name he thinks Burke, isrunning a con.
She's trying to get one over onhis little sister and he's not

(14:02):
going to stand for it.
Go ahead and enjoy your littlelunch.
I'm going to talk to you laterabout this, pam.
So he ends up going to Pam's joba little later on to talk to
her, basically to confront her.
Not confront her, but to talkto her and say, listen, I saw
you at lunch with that weirdowoman.
Do you know that that samewoman came to my office the
other day basically trying toshake me down?

(14:22):
Pam's looking at him sideways, like she asked you for money.
Really, you for money.
Listen, not everybody's a, youain't.
Not.
Everybody has a cushy littlejob at the store.
But by his estimation, yeah, she was clearly selling wolf
tickets.
She came in there talking aboutshe's my dead mama's friend and
that she you know, she, my mamawants to meet me.
Blah, blah, blah.

(14:42):
She clearly just wants themoney and she saw you and did
the same thing.
Clearly makes sense to me.
Pam is insulted.
How dare you?
Had you just given that weirdowoman who burst into your office
telling you a tall tale?
If you just given her half asecond, she would have told you
that was your mother, she wasyour mother.
And he's just like oh gulp, hmm, he looks a little drunk there,

(15:05):
if I'm being honest.
Later on he goes back to thesame club where Afton likes to
sing.
She's still singing up a storm, doing pretty well.
But he's there with David thistime and they're having this
quick exchange.
David's like hey, why are youso?
Why are you so curious aboutthis?
Cliff says, well, I mean, it'sjust, I'm very interested in
anything the Ewings do, but I'mjust trying to put together this

(15:29):
Hank Jones or Hank Johnsonportion of it.
He doesn't make sense.
You said that he was there.
There were no shots fired.
Do you think an American isfunding this?
Plus, he's disappeared off theface of the earth.
If I could somehow tie thattogether, I just want it to make
sense, that's all.
He didn't really gain any newinformation, but I mean I

(15:50):
suppose I hope Dave was beingpaid for this, otherwise it's
kind of a moot point.
Let's get to the show.
Ellie has already decided thatit is time for a divorce, so the
day of the hearing isinconsequential to her.
She'll either walk out withSwamp Thing Lake as a preserve
for the state of Texas, or shewon't.
She'll either have to give herbaby boy the side eye or she

(16:12):
won't, poor Bobby.
So when we get to the court wesee Ellie and she's there with
the Daughters of the Alamo andhe's there with the slightly
dusted but never bustedBillionaire Boys Club of North
Texas, or the SDBBBCNTX forshort.
We got Punk Anderson with thebolos Jacques, with the great
big Texas energy.

(16:33):
Everybody's there to see what'sgoing to happen.
Now.
Bobby doesn't really want to goup with it.
Before he sort of interruptsthe system, says hey, can I just
, can I just show you allsomething really quick.
One of the councilmen, I feellike he just don't like Bobby.
He objects.
But the other ones are likefine, do what you need to do.
Bobby has had time.
He's had time to print out aginormous map.

(16:54):
He's had time to do a littleresearch.
He had his secretary, whoactually does her job I'm still
sweet on him, I guess, but sheseemed to have let that go for
the time being.
They have printed out a map.
On this map you see Lake Tshaka, swamp Lake and varying

(17:15):
surrounding towns.
You see a portion of the lakethat Jock wants.
You see another portion of thelake that has been sort of
parceled out.
Bobby announces to the court hi,I'm Bobby Ewing and I just
purchased this sort of centralpiece of real estate right on
Lake Swamp Thing.
As you can see, it is verycomparable to the piece of land
that the slightly dusty butnever busted billionaire boys

(17:37):
club of North Texas desires.
It is also very similar in sizeand range to what the daughters
of the Alamo want to preserve.
Since I, bobby, have purchasedthis here land, I would like to
offer to sell it to hold on, I'mgetting mixed up.
I would like to donate myportion of land to the state of

(18:00):
Texas as a national wildlifepreserve.
The other portion will remainin the geriatric hands of the
slightly dusted but never bustedbillionaires boys clubs of
north texas and everybody wins.
It's a win-win situation.
One of the councilmen startshating oh so you'll get a big
fat tax write-off.
Bobby's like and will and didands.

(18:21):
Everyone else on the council islike I mean, this makes a lot
of sense.
It's going to save us likethree hours in court.
Is everybody cool with this?
The Dusty Billionaire Boys Clubare like yeah, we like.
It Sounds pretty good to us.
Sure, ellie and the DOA arelike you know what we can live
with?
It Sounds fantastic.
You got yourself a deal.
Bobby basically had to be akindergarten teacher in front of

(18:43):
his new people at work.
His mom and dad came in thereembarrassing them over swampland
.
So, once it's all said and done, jock is walking around like
stuff is sweet.
He's smirking, I'm sure, gladthat's behind us, miss ellie.
She looks him up and down, downand up.
Only thing is done and overwith is his hearing.
She actually should have beenlike that's not the only thing

(19:09):
that's done and over with, butit doesn't matter because ellie
has a presence.
She looked him up and down likehe was small and then she left.
So by the time bobby gets homelater that night via a cab, pam
is waiting patiently outside.
She's drinking a drink.
She's prepared to cuss him out.
So he pulls up and he's likehey, baby, don't, hey, baby me,

(19:30):
I can't believe you.
He's like what?
I can't believe you votedagainst your mother, like that.
He's like I didn't.
I actually had a pretty goodidea.
I just bought another piece ofland that looked like it gave it
to the state of Texas and nowit's a preserve.
Daddy gets to build his stuff, mama gets hers.
She's like oh, I mean okay,well, dang.
Your mom kind of went off on mewhen I asked her about it.

(19:52):
So I assumed you voted againsther.
She's super pissed, like shewon't even come down for dinner
and he's like dang, I had a badfeeling about it at court but I
didn't want to say nothing then.
I just wanted to avoid it if Ididn't come home.
Let's go back to the bar realquick.
Once David leaves, cliff isminding his own business.
When Afton takes a break fromher singing gig, she comes and

(20:13):
sits beside him.
She's like God, dude, you lookso familiar.
Do I know you?
He's like I don't think so.
No, no, no, I know you, I knowyou, you're.
You're a Pam's brother.
Yes, yes, I'm Pam's brother.
She goes well.
Hi, I am Mitch brother.
Yes, yes, I'm pam's brother.
She goes well, hi, I am mitch'ssister.
I am basically lucy's newsister-in-law.
That's oh, my god, hey, how areyou?
How's everything going?

(20:33):
It's going great.
The ewing's have been real goodto me.
And he's like oh, really, he'salready drunk with the fences
are down.
She's like yes, especially jr,he goes.
Do you know, pray, tell, well,he got me this singing gig here.
What Cliff hears is what theaudience already knows when you
say oh, jr has been especiallynice to me, he hooked me up with

(20:57):
his job.
You just told Cliff two very, very obvious things.
Number one you banged JR.
And number two, you're probablykind of easy.
So he gets this big smirk onhis face like well, I don't mind
if I diddly do.
Okay, now that the wholehearing is done, there's nothing

(21:17):
left to it but to do it, or so?
Jock thought, he thought he wasgoing to move back home.
He still finds himself sleepingin Dallas at his own choice.
Ellie meant exactly what shesaid.
Jr already has a ball rollingwith this.
West Stark finds himselfsleeping in Dallas at his own
choice.
Ellie meant exactly what shesaid.
Jr already has ball rollingwith this West Star.
I need to make a correction.
Jeremy is not from the bank.
Jeremy is from West Star.
I'd forgotten.
They were going to have alittle bit of a deal with Bobby,

(21:39):
but that didn't work out.
So JR gets on the phone.
He's like daddy, is everythingokay?
We were waiting for you andmama to come down for dinner.
You didn't come home, mamadidn't come back.
Is everything okay?
Do you think you guys are goingto divorce?
And he's like yeah, it kind oflooks like that.
So jr goes.
Well, then you and I need tohave a conversation sooner
rather than later.
I've already reached out towest star.

(22:01):
I got some paperwork here thatyou might want to see.
Well, well, right about thistime this is all over the phone,
by the way Ray comes intoJock's room and he's explaining
oh my God, jock, I totallyforgot the swamp thing maps.
We need to go back to my houseto get them.
So Jock's like okay, they arelistening.
I don't have time to do thattoday, we'll have to do it

(22:21):
another time.
Jock's like no, no, no, wereally need to get this going.
So Jock ends up hanging upwhile JR's like crap, yeah, well
, I guess the deal's still goingthrough.
They just need Jock's signatureand it'll be a done deal.
Ray ends up taking Jock to hishome that does remind me of a
log cabin on Little House on thePrairie, because everything's

(22:42):
brown and it's just kind of outin the middle of nowhere.
It's a whole thing.
And he slowly looks through hispaperwork.
He cannot locate this map.
Now, why they didn't just takeBobby's map, why he's the only
person holding the map, I'm sureI don't know.
Only I do know because a fewseconds later, in walks Donna
and Miss Ellie, they've beenambushed.

(23:04):
This is all a clever, cleverscheme to get the e-wings back
together.
I love the fact that it's nottheir, their children together,
that want them together.
It's Ray and his new wife.
Nobody else really cares, allright.
Well, then it begins Ray.
God bless him.
This is where I disagree withEllie, so so much because she

(23:27):
has been giving him the shortend of the stick.
All of a sudden, ray startsgiving her this long spiel about
.
You know, miss Ellie, when Ifound out that I was Jacques'
son and you found out I felt sogood because you accepted me
right away.
You took me and you said youwere happy to have me, and for
me that was pretty much the bestthing that could have ever

(23:49):
happened.
Never wanted to hurt you.
But then I started to notice, right around Lucy's wedding,
when Gary said that he, since Iwas a Ewing, he didn't really
need to come back.
You've been acting kind offunny towards me, listen.
She was like I don't want tohear it, ray.
I don't want to hear it, Idon't want to talk about it, but
she won't leave.
He's like you just got to hearme out.
This is starting to get onJock's nerve too, because I

(24:10):
guess he's starting to put ittogether Like you really do need
to calm down and listen.
So Ray says I never want you tofeel like I'm trying to replace
your son.
That's not at all what I want.
I don any of that.
Matter of fact, I've had somepaperwork drawn up.

(24:31):
My lawyer was kind enough towork this up for me last night.
He basically removes himselffrom any inheritance.
He won't get anything fromEwing Oil.
He won't get anything at SouthFork, he just wants to be
removed from it.
He says listen, I would ratherdo this move away from here than
to watch you and your husbandsplit up.
Now this seems very, very nobleand just always so pure of

(24:53):
heart which he is.
But also back to my originalsentiment about adults and
children.
I don't care if the child quoteunquote is 35 or 40 years old,
you're still the adult in thesituation.
And it seems like she's had agreat relationship with this kid
this whole time.
He's never done any well exceptLucy, never done anything else

(25:15):
to you.
Well, something about seeinghim hold over hand over this
document that he went throughthe trouble of getting notarized
, and all that handing it overto her to give away his
inheritance.
It's like it douses.
Whatever flame she had in hermind, she suddenly is snapped
back to her senses.

(25:35):
Oh, and I gotta say I really, really, really really love it
when Ellie has a stage.
I love it when she has hermoments.
I love it when they kind offocus in on her.
You're never going to bedisappointed.
The acting is acting God.
She would be great on anothershow too.

(25:56):
She doesn't really say a lotand I hate that.
I feel like a lot of times whenshe's with Jock she's kind of
reduced into being his caretaker, his sort of stern but loving
wife.
But in this you get to see hergo through the emotions, allow
herself to be pissed off, allowherself to be somewhat
irrationally pissed off.
I understand where she's comingfrom.

(26:17):
I can imagine how it would feelto be waiting for your kid all
this time.
You get so close but he don'twant to be there.
But now there's a whole new kidwho you have to watch do all
the things.
The funny thing is that used togive her comfort.
You can tell it used to comforther so much to have Ray around
because of how he felt about theland, how gentle he is, how

(26:38):
respectful he is, how much heloves Jock and her.
He could have been the pseudoGary until the real Gary showed
up and that doused all her plans.
But but it's something.
In that moment she was likebaby boy.
I can't let you do that.
I am so sorry.
I can't let you do that.
I don't want you to leave andyou're certainly not about to

(27:01):
give up any inheritance.
This is yours, fair and square, and it's ironic that he's just
done the most un-Ewing thingever and she goes.
But you are a Ewing Reaches infor the hug In my mind and in
her eyes to me she's like okay, you'll do, I'm not going to get
the other one back like that.
But yeah, I kind of need to seeyou around.

(27:21):
I can live with that.
This is a kid that both she andJock love.
He damn sure respects Ray waymore than he ever did Gary.
So for this she can bury thehatchet.
She admits that the swamp wasjust that.
She didn't really give a damnabout the swamp, she just wanted
to watch him suffer a littlebit, and good for her.

(27:42):
I think we're going to leave itthere for now.
Yeah, barbara Bel Geddes is afour.
She is so enjoyable in thesebigger moments.
Y'all know I love it when theyput older people front and
center.
I think it's very important toshow that.
And plus, you get in a wholedifferent level of everything.

(28:04):
It's a different kind of lovethey've been through so.
It's a different kind of loveThey've been through so much.
It's a different kind of hate.
It's a different kind of I willdestroy you.
I have lived my whole life tobe with you and your plan in my
face.
I could absolutely endeverything you love too.
You want to take away my son.
You want to make this sounbearable that my favorite

(28:26):
child ran away.
I'm going to make sure you useeverything you love too,
fantastic.
But then watching her sort ofrelease the anger and accept Ray
as a Ewing, and I think in myheart she sees him more as one
of her people.
All right, guys, join me nexttime as we jump into another
iconic episode of PrimetimeVintage Batchery.

(28:49):
In the meantime, in betweentime, print a map, sort things
out, bring juice, bring snacks.
Sometimes you got to treat yourparents like kindergartners and
work simple things out.
Stay hydrated, stay moisturized, mind your business and keep
all of your drama on TV.
Thank you, bye.
