nourish your mind, body and soul.
Listen here with your main host,Bishop Barrett Joshua.

(00:23):
Don't let your soul go hungry. It's time.
For. Soul.
Food. Hello dear friends, good
morning, good afternoon, good evening.
May the Lord Jesus bless your life once again together with
our series The Voice, The Voice of the Devil, The Voice of

(00:49):
Satan. We all want to hear the voice of
God, but many times you do not identify the voice of the devil,
especially when it comes to somebody closer to you like a
mother, father, husband, wife, son, daughter, your own mother,

(01:14):
your own father, or your closestfriend.
You see that in the days of Jesus, Satan used many people to
talk to him, especially the religious people, but also
people that were close to Jesus like Peter himself.

(01:38):
Peter used to be with Jesus to wait for seven.
Remember they were on the mount for the night video for the
prayer. Peter was there even though he's
left but Peter was there. He saw many miracles throughout
of Jesus ministry, but one day here on Matthew 1622.

(02:05):
Then Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him.
Rebuke Jesus, Say fabiate from you Lord, this shall not happen
to you. He was referring to the cross
because Jesus had said he would die on the cross.

(02:30):
But Jesus turned to Peter and hesaid, get behind me Satan.
You are an offense to me, for you are not mindful of the
things of God, but the things ofmen.
So in that moment, Jesus identified not the voice of

(02:54):
Peter, but the voice of Satan, because he did not say get
behind me, Peter, because he understood that Pira was using,
I mean, Satan was using Pira's mouth.
That's why he spoke directly to Satan.
Get behind me. That voice sounded like a good

(03:20):
suggestion to Jesus. Far be it from you, it shall not
happen to you. Like to escape from the the
cross. It sounds like Peter tried to
spare Jesus life. But how can you spare someone's
life going against the will of God, The plan of God.

(03:42):
Be careful with Jesus. Good suggestions, good options,
good proposals because they comewhen you most need them.
And they say why not, I have here this way to make this fast
money, but they don't say what is the catch after you make this

(04:06):
money like corruption, bribes, you are going to go to jail.
This illegal business, this toxic relationship.
Be careful if you just suggest us because at the end of the day
it brings more trouble. Don't hear the voice of the

(04:28):
devil. Identify.
The message today is that identifies.
Identify the voice that is speaking to you.
Tomorrow again, we are going to be back here talking about the
voice of the devil, the voice ofSatan.
God bless you. Bye bye.

(04:55):
Thank you for listening here on Soul Food Podcast.

family. We'll be right back.

(05:18):
Why must they try to tear down my house when they know it's
made from love and they can never slit in my way?
I'm made a vow to love through it all.

(05:39):
We are one, and no one has the right to tear my love down.
Even when my strength is lost, I'll praise you.
And even when I have no song, I'll praise you.

(06:02):
And even when it's hard to find the words louder than I'll sing
your praise, I will only sing your praise.
No matter what the people say, I'm going to love you anyway.

(06:23):
You all my life I can't let go. Even if I fuss, if I try, until
I get it right. You, all my life I can't let go.
Even if I disagree, you can put it all on me.
You all my life I can't let go. I can't let go.

(06:50):
I saw a lot of arguments in my in my family, my father in the
my father had a problem with alcohol, with smoking.
There's a lot of arguments. My parents were almost divorced
four times. They almost got to the point of
divorce. There were plates thrown through
the house at times for argumentsbetween my mother and my father.

(07:15):
So any number of those situations were affecting
myself, causing me to feel depressed, to feel down, to feel
like no one understood me. When I first started coming to
church, we came with my mom. She saw the program on
television and during shortly after we started participating,

(07:36):
I saw some changes in my mother's life and I was going to
more to fulfill, you know, beingthere with her, sharing in time
with her and just to be company with her.
But in my own life, I was going through depression.
I was going through suicidal thoughts.
I had nightmares during the night when I did sleep and when

(07:56):
I could not sleep, it would be two to three hours at the most
of rest every night I had. I remember standing in front of
the subway train thinking about jumping off the platform and
just ending my life because no one understood me.
At least I felt that no one understood me and that I the
world would be better off if I was just gone.

(08:17):
No one would miss me and my problems would be over.
I thank God that I did not jump off that platform that day.
I was already in church and I wasn't taking things seriously
when I was participating in the services.
I knew the pastor by name, you know, we would, we would shake
hands after the service, every single service.
I was in the youth group, but I wasn't taking things seriously

(08:40):
with God. I wasn't putting what I was
being taught into practice. I felt like I needed to start
taking my life seriously with God.
I had heard a lot of things I had done a lot of, you know,
purposes of faith in the church, things to, you know,
participating on Fridays of the strong prayers, etcetera.
And you know, I would see maybe a thing here, a blessing here, a

(09:02):
change here, but nothing ever was significant.
So I don't recall a specific moment where I decided I'm going
to change, but I do remember that it was listening to this
and actually doing it, actually listening and obeying what was
taught. That's where I started to see a

(09:24):
change. It was during a fast of Daniel
where we were sacrificing and the fast of Daniel had ended.
But I extended my time. I did a little extra.
I went more time past that. I decided that I was going to
put into practice what I was being taught.

(09:47):
To read the Bible, I'm going to read the Bible.
Then to seek the Holy Spirit, I'm going to seek the Holy
Spirit. To do a fast, to do a purpose,
to do a different chain of prayer in the church, I'm going
to do it. I persevered.
I surrendered a lot of things from my life.
I gave up a lot of things. I stopped swearing. 11 big issue
in my life was a lot of swear words.

(10:09):
I made the conscious decision I'm not going to swear anymore
and I changed. So the day that I received the
Holy Spirit, I was expecting to have a a weird sensation, some
kind of feeling, some kind of emotion, something overwhelming,
you know, I didn't feel anythinglike that.

(10:29):
I felt normal, but I had this confidence inside me.
Something inside me was telling me that I was different, that I
could trust that the Holy Spiritwas with me already.
And so my life has been different.
People that come around me, evenat work, strangers that I don't
meet, I don't know from anywhere.
They, they notice a piece aroundme when they come close to me.

(10:53):
I no longer swear. I no longer have anger issues,
I'm no longer depressed. I'm able to sleep throughout the
night. Sometimes I even sleep too much.
I've been blessed. But more than anything, it's the
reassurance that the Holy Spiritis inside me.
