In this episode, we take the Transfiguration from Matthew 17 and make it personal—a call to silence distractions, doubts, and the subtle voice of the enemy, and to listen only to the voice of Jesus. Through Scripture, music, and a powerful real-life testimony of hope, we explore how choosing His voice over every counterfeit brings clarity, courage, restoration, and lasting joy.

What's cooking up in the kitchen?
Oh yeah, that smells like soul food.
Get ready, because it's time to eat the spiritual substance that
will feed your soul. A faith-based podcast that will
nourish your mind, body and soul.
Listen here with your main host,Bishop Barrett Joshua.

(00:23):
Don't let your soul go hungry. It's time for.
Soul food. Hello dear friend, this may the
Lord Jesus bless your life. Today I want to talk about the
voice that came from heaven. That was the voice of God.

(00:47):
Jesus took Peter and John to themountain.
You can check in your Bible afterwards here.
On Matthew 17 he had 12 disciples, but he took only
three, Peter, James and John. And then he was transfigured

(01:10):
before them. He was transfigured.
He was lightened before them. They saw the glory of God in
Jesus. He was shining like the sun, His
clothes became light as the light.
And those 3 disciples, they saw Moses and Elijah.

(01:38):
And then Peter said to Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be
here, to be here where they werein the mountain, but above all
they were in the presence of Jesus.
And then he said, If you wish, let us make here 3 tabernacles,

(02:00):
or three tents, one for you, onefor Moses, another one for
Elijah. While he was still speaking, a
bright cloud over shadow them, and suddenly a voice came out of
the clouds, the voice of God. Say, This is my beloved son in

(02:26):
whom I am well pleased. Hear him full stop.
Hear him. There was actually an
exclamation mark. God said hear him or hear him
only because in that moment Peter wanted to hear Elijah, who

(02:51):
was already dead. He wanted to hear Moses, who was
already dead, but but the voice of God came to them.
And once the voice of God come to us, this voice that is
audible, we can hear. We are always everybody is

(03:13):
between the voice of God and thevoice of the deaf, good and the
bad, evil and the holy. Which one do you choose?
So when Pierre had apparently a good intention to build 3/10,
the voice came from heaven and said, hear him only.

(03:35):
So the message here today is this, Hear him only.
That's why in the Universal Church, we open the Bible and we
show what is written, not what Iwant you to know, not my
thoughts. We read the Bible.

(03:56):
We show the Bible verses on the plasma.
They screen the TV on the church.
We make sure that the people read the Bible, not just listen
to us. He wanted to listen to Moses, to
Elijah, to divide the faith, to divide the heart into 3.

(04:19):
And the voice came from heaven. This is my beloved son, in whom
I am well pleased. Hear him so do not hear others.
Hear only the voice of God. Read the Bible, pray, and don't
forget to identify who is speaking, God or the devil.

(04:40):
God bless you. Have a good one.
Thank you for listening here on Soul Food Podcast.
Stay tuned to listen to a real life story.
Make sure you don't miss it and share with your friends and
family. We'll be right back.
The voice of faith takes away the bad thoughts.

(05:08):
The voice of faith brings a certain tense with God confiding
is within my soul. Let it be true be achieved.

(05:29):
The voice of faith He is stronger than a rock, even
against a great storm. My life will never be.

(06:15):
Brings us certainty and sweet calm confidence within my soul.
And then, if it will be achieved, the voice of faith.

(06:36):
He is stronger than the rock, even against a great storm.
My life will never be me. The voice of it is stronger than

(07:01):
Narok, even against a great storm.
My life will never be. Since my teenage years, my young

(07:33):
adults, I guess, I started feeling just sad, empty, like
something was missing. And I'm not sure what it was,
but that's how I felt. I didn't feel like in front of
people, I would smile, I would be looking happy.
But when I was alone, I, I felt that sadness.

(07:54):
I felt that something, you know,I felt hopeless that I wasn't
able to fix my problems, that itwas too much being a single mom
at a young age and trying to make things work on my own and
just, I don't know, just life, financial problems, all kinds of

(08:17):
problems. Everywhere I turned I saw
problems and it was, I think that's what made me feel
hopeless that I couldn't take care of the things that I need
to and that would make me feel more and more sad or depressed.
You know, I had a lot of bad thoughts thing that went through
my head. Sometimes I felt like, oh, it

(08:40):
would be better if it all was over.
And the only thing really that capital starts away was knowing
that I had a child that dependedon me.
And then I tried to to find solutions.
I tried to in friendships and going out and parties and with

(09:02):
friends, but you know, none of none of that really helped.
The lowest point was when I, I, I started having a lot of
financial problems with my son. I didn't, I couldn't, I was not
able to be, to take care of him.And I tried many different ways
to, to resolve that situation. And the more I tried, the more

(09:27):
things got complicated. So I was no, I was losing the
place we lived. I was not.
I was out of work and I really didn't see a solution for my
problems that I went to see thislady that was supposed to help
me and she told me there was no solution for what I was trying
to do. And on my way back, I passed

(09:50):
through the front of the church and the pastor was standing
there and I think he saw in my face that I was sad and he
stopped me and he start talking to me and he asked me why I was
sad. And he told me about the church
and he told me something that I will never forget.

(10:10):
He told me, he told me, go home, don't worry, today you're going
to have an answer for your problem.
He said God is going to give youan answer for your problem.
So I thought it was all very strange.
I thanked him politely and I went home.
And that day in the afternoon, the lady that I went to see in
the morning that told me there was no solution for what I was

(10:32):
trying to do. She called me and she told me
there might be a way for us to go around it and fixed and take
care of this problem. I start coming and I came, I
came two times, sometimes three times a day just to hear the
word, because the word was, was making me feel better.
It was giving me hope, which is something that I didn't have in

(10:53):
a long time. So, so I came and I listened to
each word and everything. The I listen, I try to practice
and I, I had many conversations with the pastors, with the
helpers and everything they toldme to do, I would go and do it.
I think the first results that Ihad was that feeling of

(11:14):
hopelessness of was gone. If it was the first thing to go
away. Suddenly I had hope that things
could get better. And then I start seeing things
just falling into place financially wise.
I saw things happening. I was able to get a job.

(11:37):
The Holy Spirit was something that I learned very early on on
my walk with God. I learned that we, it's
something that I needed to have to be able to stay firm in his
presence. So, so I started looking for
that. I really wanted to, to have it
because I saw how the helpers, the pastor, how everybody seemed

(12:01):
different. They seemed happier, they seemed
secure. They seemed just different.
And I wanted to to get closer toGod And I I thought I needed to
have the Holy Spirit to be able to get closer to God.
So as I I I learned about it andI I used to come to the
meetings. I did campaigns to be able to

(12:21):
receive the Holy Spirit. I participate on a vigil that
was that the press preached about that exactly that you
know, you, you we never going toreally be deserving of the Holy
Spirit. But if we if we really want them
and we seek them, then we will we will receive them.
And I think that's what I just what I needed to hear that day

(12:44):
and that same day, that same night, I went not in the
meeting, but I that night I wenthome and I seek the Holy Spirit
in my house and I received it. Yeah, I really can't explain.
It was a a different sensation. It was a a great joy and same
time knowing that how small I was, but God was giving me this
greatest gift. So it was an amazing experience.

(13:06):
So receiving the Holy Spirit change the way I saw things, the
way I did things, My, my, my being able to, to reach out to
other people and talk about God and, and help all of that
change. Eventually me and my, my, my
sons, father, we got back together after 10 years.

(13:30):
We met back in church and we were able to fix the problems
where we had. And now we've been married for
15 years. So after 10 years, God blessed
and we were able to, to get backtogether.
So that area of my life today is, is a complete blessing.
I'm happy to, to have God. I, the Helena back then that

(13:55):
didn't have God. She didn't know how she was
going to go forward and that is totally different from who I am
today. Bishop Barrett Joshua's Soul
