voice of God. We go to church, we read the
Bible, we receive message like this one and we are so glad when
we hear the word of God that teach us, that discipline us,
correct us, the word that of Godthat's so powerful, stronger

the devil? I just said that you wake up

someone closer to you, a relative, a Co worker, somebody

(02:42):
that you admire, somebody that you even respect.

respect like an authority and this person brings a word or a
comment that ruins your day. And nowadays say they use the

message and that comment, that message puts you down, makes you

Make sure you don't miss it and share with your friends and
family. We'll be right back.

(05:13):
Growing up was tough. My mom passed away when I was
young and my father was left broken.
To cope with the pain, he began to drink, and when he was angry,
he would take it out on my siblings and I.
He would abuse us, fill our heads with negative words.

(05:33):
You're a failure, a coward, a disappointment.
With every insult, I grew more and more numb, accepting his
words as truth. Although now my father is long
gone, his words still echo in myhead.
I have become everything he saidI would be.
My name is Tessa John and today I have the mind of Christ before

(06:02):
receiving the Holy Spirit. I lack confidence.
I was unable to make decisions on my own.
I was very shy. I was at one time, I was like, I
would actually say depressed. You know, I had some issues with
my family. And it started, you know, it

(06:24):
caused me to doubt myself and the decision that I was making
because I felt like, you know, whatever I was doing, you know,
it was to please others and not to, you know, not to please
myself. I used to go to parties almost
every other week, you know, or find something to do or have
drinks with friends or, you know, just to get out of the

(06:45):
house. And it just didn't work for me.
There was one time that I went to a club and something happened
home and I drank. I just wanted to forget it.
And, you know, absolutely nothing happened.
Deep down inside, I knew that I wanted something more.
I just didn't know how to change.

(07:06):
I did not know what to do and I always think I'm going to fail
before I even try. I always tell myself I'm going
to fail because you know, in my mind I just pictured it, you
know, how things going to work out and it never worked out the
way that I thought it was going to.
My mindset, I was very negative towards myself and to point to

(07:30):
others because you know, I used to look at others and want to be
like them. So, you know, by doing that, you
know, I hated myself to a point like, you know, why can't I be
like this person or why can't I have that?
Why can't I have the confidence that that other person has?
Why can't I do like they do? It was a constant battle in my

(07:50):
mind wanting to be, you know, like others trying to fit in.
When I came into the church, first I was fighting for my
deliverance. I wanted to be free.
I wanted to have a Peace of Mind.
I was delivered from, I used to go to the parties and drinking
and stuff like that. I was delivered from those

(08:10):
things. And they was talking about the
Holy Spirit. And then I learned that the Holy
Spirit, you know, take your painand all your suffering away from
you, you know, if you don't havea Peace of Mind, you know, the
Holy Spirit take that place thatgive you that comfort that you

(08:31):
never had. I used to go to other churches
before they read the Bible. But, you know, there was no
emphasis on the Holy Spirit. Occasionally you would, you
know, mention the Holy Spirit, but I didn't.
I did not know what was the HolySpirit, just the name.
I was coming on a Wednesday. Then the fast of Daniel came.

(08:53):
I used to try to come almost every day, you know, come to
church more, you know, read the Bible more and pray more.
I wanted change. I wanted a new beginning.
So I made the ultimate sacrificeand I received the Holy Spirit.
The day that I received the HolySpirit, I felt a peace.

(09:17):
I felt a great joy. You know, I felt a light.
I just felt different. And the peace that I felt
remained with me. You know, it wasn't just I felt
a moment and it was over. No, you know, after even going
through situations, it was different for me where I used to

(09:40):
be stressed out and stuff like that.
And when a situation come, when a problem come, you know, it was
like nothing to me. I am not insecure anymore.
I'm not doubtful of myself. I'm very confident.
I make decisions on my own. I don't have to ask nobody the
opinion. When this Holy Spirit came upon

(10:02):
me, my life changed. You know what?
What He did for me, He can do for you.
So you know I seek Him. He will change your life.
