Spark and Scribble

Spark and Scribble

Welcome to Spark and Scribble, a home for narrated short stories born of worldbuilding chaos and dangerously nerdy inspiration. I’m a professional daydreamer powered by too much coffee, funny-shaped dice, wild “what ifs,” and a sci-fi/fantasy (and more) packed bookshelf. Whether you’re a DM, a lore gremlin, or someone who just loves escaping for a few minutes, this corner is ours to share. I’ve challenged myself to write, narrate, and produce as many audio stories as I can and share the journey along the way. If these stories help you escape, even for a moment, then they’ve done their job.

A demon lord. A crumbling party. One dwarf on fire. One bard with the worst idea in recorded history.

The Natural 20 follows a band of battered heroes on their last stand against Zorath the Undying. The Halfling Bard named Lila goes sideways, crashing the final boss fight with an unsolicited seduction attempt. The demon vomits ectoplasmic shame on the entire party. The strongest barbarian in the land dies flatfooted. And somehow, a ...

Meet Dennis. He’s a ghost. He’s also hopelessly unscary.

When a clerical error in the afterlife assigns him to haunt a perfectly normal apartment, expect zero terror and plenty of: sneezy moans, failed chain-rattling, binge-watching Bake Off, and emotional oversharing from inside a hall closet.

Over three awkward and unexpectedly heartfelt months, the world’s worst ghost becomes something stranger: a roommate, ...

If you've ever climbed a tree a thousand times just to be ready for the castle wall later, this one is for you.

Quest for Glory | So You Want To Be A Hero (A Love Letter To Sierra Games) is a warm, nostalgic love letter to a bygone era of adventure games. The kind where heroes got stronger by doing, goblins multiplied after every fight, all you needed to defeat a witch was a mirror, and the world quietly remembered every choice you ...

Every rule broken opens another door.

When Clara's thirty-fourth fouetté wakes something in the mirrors, she's drawn into a performance meant for inhuman eyes.

Bleeding pointe shoes. Impossible choreography. An audience that doesn't clap.

It clicks.

This is a dark ballet of cosmic horror, a pas de deux between a dancer and something ancient, performed on a stage with no edges, for an audience with no mercy.

Clara may not come back.

Corporate promised a six-hour sweep.

The soldiers got six weeks of horror.

On X-8813 (aka "Veymar's Folly") Sergeant Elias Rook and his platoon faced acid storms, tunneling insectoid hunters, and intelligence data so wrong it bordered on criminal.

When the sky went silent, they knew the truth.

Corporate was done.

Not when the ROI dipped. Not when the spreadsheets said "acceptable losses." Not when the math said the mission could still s...

Every year we watch all the Christmas movies. And every year The Polar Express gives me the same feeling... there's a thread here worth pulling.

The more I rewatched it, the more I noticed strange parallels. Belief. Sacrifice. Memory. Sound. Silence. And a surprising connection to Saving Private Ryan.

So I shared the theory with my wife. What started as a joke turned into a fast-talking, coffee-fueled conversation with a little consp...

What if your greatest song came from a dream?

Echoes of the Century begins in darkness, a voice carried through static, a melody that refuses to stay quiet. It builds slowly, inevitably, into something enormous. A stage on fire. A crowd singing as one. A song that already knows it's going to outlive the moment it was born in.

This is the story of a boy, a dream, and the spark that turns imagination into something the world can feel.

Some games are decided by strategy. Some by tactics. And some… by the dice deciding they simply don't like you.

This is a Kings of War battle report... of sorts.

General Alric leads a perfectly planned, meticulously deployed army into what should have been a textbook victory. It was not a textbook victory. It was, in fact, a masterclass in statistical impossibility.

Cannon shots miss. Elite units flee. Heroes fall to the most a...

A distress signal from a rogue planet. A salvage crew that vanishes one by one. And an engineer’s final logs.

When Elias follows a mysterious signal to a pitch-black world with no sun, he finds a “station” that wasn’t built, it was grown. Breathing walls. A pulsing transmission inside his skull. A message that shifts from SOS to countdown.

His crewmates disappear. His notes turn from technical logs into unrave...

Cadia: The Breaking of the 88th

The Fall of Cadia is not remembered through legends.

It is remembered through moments... small, precise, and irreversible.

This is a narrated Warhammer 40,000 story following a single Cadian squad in the final hours of the world’s destruction. Not a retelling of the siege, but a ground-level account of ordinary Guardsmen making correct decisions in an incorrect universe.

No heroes. No salvation. On...
