(00:01):
Wow, it is mid October.Remember that movie The Hunt for Mid October?
No, that was The Red October. I really no, Diana,
that's not a movie. But man, it is a spooky time. Are
you guys getting ready? The houseis going? Yeah? I'm starting the
last time of year, last timeof year. I wish the weather would

(00:22):
cooperate me to like, where's therain? Come on, let's get that.
Nah. Well, if you arelistening to us for the first time,
you might want to go back toMonday. But we are the Ladies
of Spark my interest podcast. OnMondays we do our standard episodes, but
on Friday's we do something that's calledthe Fireside Friday and loose we know,

(00:42):
do we just let it all hangout my boobs? I mean they're just
hanging day. What a visual though? Um No. But my name is
Diana, I'm Deborah, I'm Jesse, and today I think we've got a
little bit of a theme we do. We got a great question. Yeah,
we heard from Kira from Las Vegas. She wrote into our Instagram.

(01:06):
She says, my brother and Ilove your firesides and we listen every week.
We want to know if any ofyou have a story about party fails,
high school, college days, whatever, we're here for it, short
and sweet. Well, I thinkthey're barking up the right tree. They've
hosted probably just many parties as they'vebeen to My god, we probably hosted

(01:26):
more, and I could probably comeup with a million party fails because of
that too. But I mean, the first one that comes to mind for
me, I guess I could justgo first. Okay, yeah, do
it. I'm gonna tweak it alittle bit, so if you lived it
and you're hearing it, know thatI understand. I'm not telling it fully
just to protect some privacy. Butwhen I was in college, it was

(01:47):
around Halloween time. We were alldoing the Halloween party, and so we
were all going to dress up inthese amazing costumes. And I actually had
borrowed my costume from one of mygirlfriend's authority sister. Actually her name is
Jamie. I love Jamie was inmy wedding. She's so wonderful, and
she was like, oh, yeah, I've got this amazing costume. And
it was one of those where youhave you guys seen the ones where you
Voldeva's definitely seen it. Jesse,I'm sure you have, but you'll put

(02:09):
like something on where it looks likeyou're riding on the back of something else.
Yeah, of course, yeah, like your legs leaves of something.
Yeah, you're being carried. Sothat was it was kind of one of
those Mine was I wore a littlebonnet around my head and looked like I
was dressed in like a onesie, like a baby would be. But then

(02:31):
I had my arms wrapped around anold lady, so it was like a
baby riding on the back of agrandma. Basically, it was like the
most ridiculous costume you could come upwith. And actually, like the that
weekend, I had worn it liketwice and I had well, I think
I won or placed like first, second or third in a costume content Like

(02:53):
it was a solid costume choice andquite comfortable because you were, like,
my legs were grannies, so likewe were like slippers and ship. It
was awesome. Thanks. So,yeah, it was a great costume.
And so we're going to go tothis off campus party. So a bunch
of our friends decided, you know, to go together, and we all
show up together and it was atanother friend's house. It wasn't like a

(03:14):
dancy party or something. Here,it's kind of more like just drinking in
cash. But I'm sitting there anda friend of mine, Rachel, comes
in and she sits down next tome, and I can tell, oh,
she's like a little tipsy. Andso I'm shooting the ship with some
friends, talking talking, talking, and then all of a sudden, Rachel
wants to chime in on the conversation. So she like kind of like taps

(03:35):
me and to like get my attention. So I look to her and she's
like never, she's not like aclose talker, but she's talking very closely
to me, and I can tell, oh, she's not just tipsy,
she's very drunk. And she's missingher front tooth, and so I look
at her and she's trying to saysomething to me. And I turned to

(03:58):
the friends that she would come inwith, and I was like, how
much does she drink? And they'relike, I don't. I don't know.
We weren't around the whole time,but I think it's a lot.
And I was like, she's missinga tooth, and they're like, oh
shit, she fell down in thein the driveway, but we didn't realize
she had broken somebody. So I'mlike, oh my god, and so
you know, I'm kind of like, you know, Rachel, are you

(04:19):
okay? You know, are youget some water? So like people are
starting to get water. I thinkthere was a cup of coffee involved at
one point, and so I'm kindof talking to her and I'm like,
you know, the more and whereI talk to her, like I don't
feel good about Rachel's She's she's notjust drunk. Yeah, she's not just
drunk. And so I was like, I actually think we need to call
nine one one, and so wecalled. We called nine one one and

(04:42):
this happened to be Rachel's house. And so someone while we're on the phone
with nine one one is like, you know, she's on a certain medication
and I was like, well, what is it. Yeah, so we
run up to her cabinet, hermedicine cabinet in her in her house,
and I look at it and soI'm on the phone with the nine on
one operator. I'm like, Okay, this is what she takes and blah

(05:04):
blah blah blah blah, and they'relike, you know, we're going to
send an ambulance just to make sure, and YadA yadas was like okay.
So we're standing around like the partyis definitely like not happening anymore because it's
just like, but by the way, everybody, cops are coming, police
are, you know, an ambulanceis on its way. And so the
ambulance shows up and the medics comein. They're like where is she?

(05:24):
And I'm like, she's, youknow, in the dining room, and
so they come in. They carriedher out on like a gurney. She's
crying. I mean, it waslike it was so awful. And then
I had to meet him up atthe stairs and like show them the bathroom
and they're like going through a medication. It was a good thing that we
had pointed out what the medication wasbecause it doesn't mix well with alcohol,
and so they ended up having toyou know, pump her stomach and it

(05:47):
was a big issue. And thenthe next day or two days later,
she had to get her teeth fixed, and her mom ended up writing everybody
like a handwritten thank you for takingcare of her daughter because it could have
been like really bad shit. Thepoint of my story was I was kind
of initiating all. I mean,I was on the phone with the police.

(06:08):
I was the one that escorted thepolice up to her room, grabbed
the medicine, like walked her outto the ambulance like it was. I
was a big part of that. And so when all when all the hysteria
had died down, you know, you're kind of you kind of are like,
oh God, like that just dippening, Like I lived it, and
you know, like that was thatwas fucking insane. And I hope she's

(06:29):
okay and all this stuff. AndI turned around and I just happened to
look in the mirror at the bottomof the steps and I was like,
holy shit, where a fucking bonnetand a grandma hanging out of my stomach?
Time the whole fucking time, youguys, and then dress out.

(06:49):
They didn't say shit. The copsand the medics didn't say shit to me
about it. And now I'm Iremembered at one point one of the cops
had looked at me and gave mea smart work and I was like,
what was that about? And nowI'm like, it's because I was dressed
like I was dressed. Yeah,So um, she ended up being okay.
But and so there's a funny.I can talk about it now because

(07:11):
it's funny. It's hilarious where you'relike to picture you in that outfit during
this Oh my god, I know. I don't even know if I have
because it was like, what twothousand and two. Yeah, we just
didn't take pictures like that or it'slike a grainy Well, I don't have
photos of it. And she wasn'twith us that night. She was always
the photographer. She took out allthe pictures. Yeah. So yeah,

(07:32):
that's my that's my party mishap, but funny but serious at the same time.
So if you are in college orreally at any age and someone you
think has drank too much, Yeah, for your friends, yeah, count
for your friends. Yeah. Andif you're on medication, don't don't drink
too much. Oh yeah good.Yeah. That was a girl I was
on a sports team with in college. I won't see much sport and I

(07:53):
will keep her name private, butuh that different sports teams would have these
um parties and they would all gather, usually one of the upperclassmen's places that
they all rented or whatever, sothey had some freedom to do more in
that place, usually was a houseor something, and in this case,
it was what was called a cocktail. And so you're supposed to bring like
a date, and it basically thebooze is already provided. I think you

(08:16):
can bring your own booze if youwant anyway, So it's the booze just
provided to bring your own boy somethinglike that. So I had brought somebody
that I was kind of friends withbut not really super interested in them.
But I was like, I gottahave a woman's trash is another woman's treasure
at that kind of party. Yeah, So this guy I brought, he

(08:37):
was nice enough, but I wasn'tparticularly interested in him. I was like,
let's just go have fun at aparty. And I remember that highlighters
really looked good under black light.I knew this particular house they had black
lights in the basement. So weget there and we're starting to draw on
ourselves with highlighters, just gonna befunny, like here, everybody, here's
some highlighters. I wanted to bekind of the one who brought the highlighters.

(08:58):
That had a great idea, youknow. And in the middle of
it, the scroll from my teamlike bumps up against me, like really
hard on the back. And thenI looked down at the ground and she's
like on her back on the groundconvulsive. Oh well, I think she
hit her head really hard, soI don't know if the seizure was induced
by that, Like she hit herhead on the cement basement floor, and

(09:20):
I was like shit, shit, shit, And I was like somebody called
them, Like nobody sprung into action, but me, I was really concerned
because I guess people have been drinkinglong enough. They were just sport reacting
quickly. I hadn't been drinking thatnight, so I was like fuck,
and I ran up the stairs andI was like, I need a phone.
I need a phone. And thisguy like turns around with some drink.
He's like, here's a phone withhis fingers on the shape of a
phone. I'm like, somebody's hurt. I need a phone. At least

(09:41):
it was his fingers. A goodboy. But the guy who was hosting
the party, he quickly sprang intoaction once I told him what happened,
and he didn't want there to bethe cops or anything, so he called
up like some EMT friends of histhat worked at the college. They had
like a shift at the college orit was like this is kind of like

(10:01):
more low key m e MT,you know, and they show up and
they take a look at her andsee if she needs to go to the
hospital or not. And they tookit from there. But um, I
went downstairs and the guy I hadbrought he was no longer just like writing
stuff on his hand, like hewas fully covered in highlighter, like in
a very sort of like, uh, you're too much. And I was

(10:22):
just like, I'm Outie, Ijust left the party. I was like,
I'm done. Not the party experienceyou were expecting. No, no,
keep the highlighters and the boy.Yeah. Nice. That actually is
such a good segue into my story, Jesse, And good on both of
you for being the person to springinto action. She ended up being okay,

(10:45):
but it was scary for oh forsure. Yeah. I think we're
all responsible because we hear me out. So I went to a party one
time with a with a group offriends in college. Yeah, I was
in college and it was at aIt was a fraternity house that we went
to. They were having a blacklight party. To your point, Jesse,
highlighters look really good. So youare supposed to wear white and you're

(11:07):
supposed to bring highlighters. So we'rethere and white that you're like, go
ahead and on the shirt. Yeah, just garbage clothing, so people can
write all over it. So peopleare like writing each other's numbers on there,
and just you know, it's college, so things get gross, but
whatever, we all expect it.So anyway, we're at this party and

(11:28):
it actually was a pretty good time. I was one of those nights where
I was like, oh, whenI do this, and then you get
there and you're like, you knowwhat, Actually that was pretty fun.
So we're walking around every room blacklights. Oh, here's a different group
of people. Oh, everyone's gotthe pink highlighters in here, and just
whatever it may be. This wasour freshman year. So I see these

(11:48):
girls that we know from our dormitorywalk in. I'm like, oh,
I know them, and there's likethree of them. Everyone's having a good
time. I see this girl we'regonna call her Susan, and I'm like,
oh, there's Susan, all right, great. So she's in and
out of other rooms. She's like, oh, just exploring this whole house.
And I had seen these guys withher. They were like, oh,

(12:11):
let me write dude, let mewrite on your shirt. Let me
and one of them had been like, can I write on you like on
your skin. He's like, yeah, I don't care. Sure, So
I didn't think I was gonna seeher again. So then it's like fifteen
twenty minutes later, I'm like,I'm ready to go run into Susan and
I see that across her forehead inbig block letters. It says slut.

(12:35):
Oh man, somebody had just writtenthat on her, and it's so mean
and just so misogynistic and everything, but it was incredibly funny at the same
time too. Oh yeah, youwalking around smiling like nothing's wrong. And
it reminded me of that scene fromNever Been Kissed where she was like,

(12:58):
you know, and she's like, what the hell's going on that her?
Like everyone's kind of like laughing everytime she walks around. She's like,
what what's going on? Like lookin a mirror. So a group of
us Diana was with me, wego up to her and we're like,
girl like it says slut on yourforehead, Like we gotta get that thing
off, you know, why don'tyou go home. We're walking back to
the dorms or whatever. She's like, oh, we really want to stay

(13:20):
out, and she's like she's likedipping napkins into her drink and trying to
take it off. It's not comingoff, and so I was like sorry,
like we're gonna go, like you'rewelcome to walk with us or whatever,
and she's like, no, Idon't know what to do. And
what of her friends it was withher. All they did was literally they
took the same color of highlighter andthey just made it a complete box head

(13:43):
and she was like, yeah, that works, like all right, man,
So she just walked around with abig block of highlighter on her forehead.
Didn't say that night. Yeah, better than saying slut, that's for
sure. But that's a party failthat would ruin my night. If it
for me, that would have ruinedmy night, I would have been like,
I can't believe I let somebody putslood on my head and I walked

(14:03):
around like that to each their out. Man, some people live it awesome.
So yeah, I think those arepretty good stories. I really appreciate
the question coming from Kira and herbrother in Las Vegas. Thank you so
much for sending that our way.Yeah that I haven't thought of that in

(14:24):
a while me either, And honestly, I think this is a topic that
we could revisit as well. I'msure we have other party fails. Oh
I think so too. I'm sure, right, I can think of an
after party fail just right right outthe gate that I'm like, oh yeah,
I gotta tell that one someday. So okay, all right, So,
