Welcome, SoR listener to episode 238 and our final episode of this year!

We're taking the remainder of the year off and will be back on January 15th for our full review of Skeleton Crew. The reason for the short hiatus? Basically, Star Wars news has been extremely slow for the last few months. Of the stories we are talking about recently, it's just the same stuff or it's fan nonsense. The last thing we want to do is come back every week and not sound like our enthusiastic selves about something we love. So you get a rest for a little while!

For this episode we've got Star Wars movie calendar updates, Black Friday toy and collectibles, new Darth Vader themed clothing from Columbia and some fun tidbits from the rumour mill. Enjoy!

The news stories from around the galaxy that we discussed on this episode...

(00:23):
a galaxy far, far away.
Today we're going to talkabout the Ray situation.
Allegedly, she's vital to thefuture of Star Wars.
We're going to talk about yetanother movie pulled from the release
schedule.
We're going to talk a littlebit about TV Skeleton crew and or
and it wouldn't be completelyNovember without some Black Friday

(00:45):
deals, some goodness and somenew releases.
We might even wrap up withsomething from the rumor mill.
Who knows where we'll end up?
I'm of course, Mike, one ofyour hosts here at Spark Rebellion.
I'll be bringing on myesteemed co host in just a second.
But before I do that, remember, you can check us out on

Now we are going to get intosome news this week.
It's been a little bit sparseactually over the last few months

(01:30):
and actually it's just felt,it's just felt like we've been repeating
ourselves a little bit.
New movies, announcedcancellations, trolls, people complaining
they don't like anything.
It's been a little bit repetitive.
So because of that, we'reactually going to be taking December
off after this week.
We will be taking a little bitof a hiatus and we're going to be

(01:51):
coming back on January 18thwith a review of the hall of Skeleton
Crew that comes out earlyDecember and it runs right through
to the 14th of January.
So once that's finished, wecan get into something me to give
it one of our famous reviewsand go deep on that one.
So we'll be back after thisepisode on January 18th.

(02:12):
Now, without further ado, let's bring on the scoundrel with
a beard that would make MaceWindu proud if he was to return from
death.
Because as we all know, whenyou come back from death, and you
might be questionably morallyset up, you do have a little beard
just to keep the audience ontheir toes.

(02:33):
So welcome the bearded one,Gary Elliott.
Hello, mate.
Good morning, mate.
So our listener, how we doing?
Yes, we've both got beards.
I can see you're, you'regrowing yours out a little bit for
the benefit of the listener marks.
Well, it's the same with thehair though, mate.
Sort of growing the hair alittle bit.
Because I'm away for twoweeks, Anna, after this week, I'm

(02:54):
off.
I'm off on holiday, so I'msort of.
I'll just go through the shaveon like Friday or Saturday.
You know the drill.
Yeah, yeah, I do that as well.
Yeah.
Christmas, dues, holidays,people coming over.
You shave the night, not thepeople coming over.
Not interested in that.
Depends who it is.
Well, it does depend who is actually.
Yeah.

(03:14):
Not.
Not anything dodgy.
No, not in that way.
Well, maybe not.
Whatever.
Yeah.
See how the night goes.
Whatever.
Whatever what you've been Starwars in.
What have I been Star wars innow, really?
Oh, I've sunk another.
Another few hours into StarWars Outlaws.
I feel like it's one of thosegames where a bit like you with the

(03:36):
Living Force book.
I feel like I'm not making toomuch head ground headway with it,
but I'm chipping away.
You know that feeling whereyou not progressing massively.
But yeah, you're chipping away.
So I'm on Tatooine actually atthe moment, which is kind of cool.
There's like a few Easter eggsdotted around on there.
You can go to.
Go to Lal's homestead and see.

(03:57):
You can't see any burning skeletons.
Nothing like that.
It's no, you know, nothinglike that.
They've put none of that.
Yeah, but you can go there andhave a look and you got Jabba's palace
and all that stuff and you canchip around and.
And do that stuff.
It's kind of cool.
There's a bit of nostalgia onthat one, but, yeah, other than that,
dude, nothing.
What about you?
Not a ton.
Just getting through this.
Galactic Empire, rise and fall.

(04:17):
Nearly finished that one actually.
So I'll have that done beforethe old holiday.
It's really good.
So it seems to dip a littlebit in the middle, but it is very,
very good.
So I've been enjoying that.
So, yes, I'll stick that on myGoodreads or whatever we use in these
days.
The kids.
Now, let's get to a fewstories then.
So we've got.

(04:37):
We've got a few different, Isuppose a few different types of
story today.
We've got the usual, oh, look,a movie's been pulled.
But we also do have a fewrumors and it's Black Friday coming
up actually next week.
So we're gonna get.
Some things tend to getreleased, which is quite good.
So we'll talk about all ofthat stuff.
But we are going to start with.
An anonymous source has toldthe Hollywood Reporter that Rey Skywalker

(05:03):
is played by Daisy Ridley willreportedly appear in several upcoming
movies, not just.
Not just the new Jedi Order, one that we know is in development.
We don't know how far that'sgot, but we know it's in development.
But allegedly, this sourcesays that she's the most valuable

(05:24):
cinematic asset, Anakin Luke, but also that she's gonna be moving
forward in several, several films.
So I, I do sort of get this, dude.
I sort of get this.
If this is true.
I mean, it's a anonymous source.
Who knows if it is true.
I do understand it, you know, young woman, Skywalker name, you

(05:48):
know, like it or not, but Ithink I'm not.
I don't want to say this tosound disparaging to the character
or today's a Ridley, because Ilike both.
I don't think Ray wasparticularly fleshed out very well
in the original trilogy, butthen was Luke.
I don't know.
Who knows?
But it doesn't feelparticularly strong.

(06:09):
I feel like every othertrilogy has had several strong characters.
So Luke, Leia and Han wereobviously the perfect trifecta and
strength in numbers there.
They appealed to differentpeople, different reasons, and the
same, I think in the prequeltrilogy, you know, Anakin, Obi Wan,
and in the Phantom Menace, youhad Liam Neeson, you know, really

(06:30):
commanding presence.
So I don't.
I don't know, man.
I, I see this.
I see why this could be a thing.
But I, I just.
I don't know how strong thecharacter is because it just feels
a bit underdeveloped.
But then you can't develop itwithout making more movies.
So I sort of, you know, youcan't chicken and egg that.
So I don't know.
I'm.
I suppose I'm a bit ambivalenton it, as always now with Star Wars,

(06:52):
I'm a bit ambivalent on it.
What do you make of it?
Yeah, again, I see this.
I see why they're trying topush this a little bit.
I think most of me thinks thisis a good move.
I'll tell you why.
It's because I saw somethingthe other day.
It was at one of the variousStar wars blogs or whatever.

(07:13):
I think it was Screen Rant actually.
And they were saying that theheadline was Star wars is the Star
Wars's main problem is thatit's a nostalgia machine.
And it's difficult to keeprecreating nostalgia.
And I, I Read that.
And I thought, oh, it'sanother clickbaity thing.
And then the more I thoughtabout it, I was like, they might

(07:34):
have a point there.
You know, when you keep havingto regurgitate pockets of time around
the original trilogy andhaving to come up with new stuff,
but also very familiar at thesame time, it does become a bit of
a challenge, and especiallyfor Star wars fans of our age, not
that old, but you know, theolder crew who relies to a degree

(07:57):
on some of that nostalgic, sort of nice warm fuzzy feeling.
When you watch Star wars, youcan only run on that for so long.
So I think this is a good moveto say, like, okay, we've already
got a new ish established character.
Let's just bloody run with that.
There's probably a cynicalpart of me that thinks we've got
nothing else.
We haven't got anything else.
So Ray's as good as we'regoing to get.

(08:18):
So I think this is a good move overall.
I think if you're going tochoose a character and push through
into new Star wars territoryand do new stuff, it might as well
be Ray, dude.
So, yeah, I can see whythey're doing it, but it's like you
said, this chicken and eggthing, you have to, you have to put
content out in order to fleshout the character a bit more.

(08:38):
But you got to take that, that, those steps to do it, you know,
So I get it.
Yeah, it's a tough thing in it.
I think it's.
You're right, nostalgia issuch a big part of it, but at the
same time it's, it's thatwe've talked about it 10 times over
the last two months.
Like just the fact that if youmove away from nostalgia, you just
get the assholes online.
And we've said it before, likeStar wars is just in a very unique

(09:01):
position in that it's got thatproblem, you know, it's, it's not,
it's not like Marvel or DCwhere it's like, well, that's not
comic accurate.
Yeah, it's an interpretation of.
And a lot of the people willbe fine with that.
Whereas with Star wars, it's,oh, it's not Luke, it's not Anakin,
you know, and it's, we talkedabout it again in the, the sequel
trilogy to some people.
Force awakens is 10 year oldnext year.

(09:22):
You know, if you, if that's,that's like us in 2009 with the Phantom
Menace.
And it's, it's a weirdscenario in that you, you know that
those, those movies will bethe introduction to Star wars for
so many people.
And these characters will bethe Star wars characters, you know,
not the old guy, you know, notthat old guy that was, that was stood

(09:45):
there.
It'll be someone else.
And it's, it's just, it's sortof weird that they've always got
to tread this so carefullybecause they, you know, it's, it's
almost like it'll be easier todo this in 50 years time or 60 years
time when we're all deadbecause you know what I mean?

(10:05):
Because we're not, you know, the mid-40s guys now.
We're not going to go on, youknow, in 50, 60 years.
I'm going to go on socialmedia and below.
This is crap.
You know, it'll just be fresh, hopefully.
Yeah, I think, I don't thinkwe've got it as one of our stories
this week, but Jude Law wasinterviewed recently and he said

(10:26):
that he's really, reallynervous about skeleton crew going
out because he's seen, he'sseen what's happened in the past
with Star wars actors beingabsolutely destroyed because of something
they've done in Star warsbecause of this very reason.
It's like you've got the oldcrew who were just, you know, we
need more, we need more Starwars to make me feel like I did when

(10:46):
I watched Star Wars.
But then you also got a.
Cater to.
It's such a unique.
You're right, dude.
It's.
They're in such a uniqueposition with it where it's.
I, we've said it many times.
I certainly wouldn't want this job.
Years ago I really wanted to.
It's like, oh, what's yourdream job?
You know, other than working, you know, doing what I'm doing now,
of course.
But what's your dream job?

(11:07):
I'd love to work at like Pixaror, you know, Lucasfilm making Star
wars stuff.
But now, gee, I don't know, man.
I honestly don't know.
Yeah, and that's such a shamethat someone like Du Law feels like
that.
It's not like he's not accomplished.
It's not like he's done good work.
It's not like he's pretty wellrevered and, you know, I just think

(11:29):
it's a symptom of the, theworld that we're in at the minute
with social media and so on.
But we'll see how that goes.
We'll see what happens withthat one.
But it's not helping the nextnew news article is that reported
by variety last week.
December 18, 2026, we weregoing to get a Star wars movie.
Now we don't know which one itwas going to be, but we were going

(11:51):
to get one.
Now we're not.
Now we're getting Ice Age 6,which I'm up for.
Arguably a better film thanwhatever we're going to get.
I like it.
Yeah, probably better.
I do like, I do like Ice Edge, but I don't know which movie this
was going to be.
So it means that we've onlygot only the Mandalorian and Grogu.

(12:12):
Directed by the Fav.
May 22, 2026.
Now it's, it's weird thisbecause if you like, if you think
back pre Marvel, when did weget more than one Star wars movie
in a year?
Like you got one every, what, two or three years?

(12:34):
Like before 2008, what we hadthe prequels, but now it's like,
oh, we're only going to getone Star wars movie in 2026.
And you're like, oh, that'sfine, that's cool, that's all right.
But at the same time, it'slike we've said before.
And actually I want to saythis, but then I'll, I'll, I'll,
I'll underpin it withsomething slightly different.

(12:54):
It's like we've said before, they keep dropping these movies and
pulling these movies out.
However, how often does thishappen in the cinema ecosystem, the
movie making Hollywoodecosystem, where you pencil a dating
and it just doesn't happen.
You swap it out, but becauseit's Star wars, it's under the microscope,
it's a big problem.
It's an issue.
So again, is it, you know, weget, we're getting a Star wars movie

(13:17):
in one year, do we need two?
Probably not.
Probably not.
It's cool.
It's totally cool.
So I'm, I've got, I can seeboth sides of this, you know, it
being a problem, but at thesame time not.
And I think it, for me it justcomes back down to that.
Stop freaking announcing.
Yes, agreed.
We're in this, we're in thisposition, aren't we, where we've

(13:38):
been spoiled, really, withStar wars content.
A lot of people will complain, right?
They'll say since the Disneybuyout, they've ruined Star wars
and all the rest of it.
But, and there's also thequestion of Star wars fatigue as
well.
I think that's somethingthat's been, that's been knocked
about for a While.
But we have had a lot ofcontent over the last few years,

(13:59):
dude.
As well as.
Not so much in the way offilms, but certainly over at Disney
plus we've had loads of Starwars stuff.
And yeah, now this has happened.
It's like other franchiseslike Transformers, I guess, and some
of the Marvel stuff.
You know those big franchiseswhere you get like one film, like
you said, every few years.

(14:20):
It's like fans are like, oh,this is amazing.
We're gonna get another filmin like 2027.
Oh, brilliant.
I can't wait for that.
But where it's Star Wars.
Yeah, it's like, oh, you'reonly getting one film this year.
Oh, this is outra.
This is absolutely outrageous.
So we guessed, didn't we, thatthis was going to be that new Jedi
Order film?
I think when we, when we spokeabout, oh, Star wars has got two

(14:43):
or three films slated for2025, we were like, well, Mandu and
Grogu's already been announcedfor May, so the other one's probably.
What do we say at the time?
I'm sure it was the new JediOrder film with Rey, because we were
talking about, you know, because at that point production
was in full swing preproduction anyway, and we thought,
well, that's not bags of timeto do the visual effects, everything,

(15:05):
but they could still do it.
So I'm wondering if it wasthat one.
But I don't know, man.
I mean, any other franchise,it wouldn't necessarily be a problem.
The only thing I can think ofthat's kind of similar is Marvel
keep pulling the Blade film.
I think fans are getting a bitmiffed with that now because they
keep moving it around.
But if it's any otherfranchise, it wouldn't be a problem.

(15:27):
But because Disney have made arod for their own back where they
keep doing this thing whereit's like, here's an announcement.
Nope, it's not happening now.
Here's a film.
No, we're not doing it now.
Here's a release date.
No, we're not doing it now.
It's just.
It's really starting to grayon people.
So I think that's kind ofjustified, dude, for people to have
a little bit of the hump.
Not a bit.
Not because we're only gettingone Star wars film, but more so it's

(15:48):
just like you keep telling uswe're getting stuff and then.
And then you pull it.
I think that's the problem.
Yeah, I think.
I agree.
I think that's the bigger issue.
This is just a symptom of it.
We'll just have to see on it again.
We've talked about this before.
I'm sort of just not reallythat interested.
Like I only really care aboutsomething now when there's actual
footage.

(16:09):
That's, that's where I just amwith it at the minute because I don't,
I just don't think we canguarantee anything else.
So we'll see on that one.
We'll.
We'll see, man.
We do know that skeleton crewis coming along and one of the, one
of the co creators, Chris Fordhas spoken to screen ran about really

(16:30):
where this fits in the timeline.
We know it takes place postReturn the Jedi in that Mando verse
space.
So whether that is the fiveyear period where the mando started
or much later, you know, eight, nine, ten years after, who
knows.
But one of the interestingthings here that Chris has said,
Chris, like I know him, hassaid, is why they chose that period.

(16:54):
And it's not so that it cantie to everyone else.
And we know there'll probablybe cameos and some scoundrels making
appearances all well and good, but he said that the reason for setting
it like this and putting ithere is that actually there needs
to be a little bit of a spacefor people to go and get lost and
not get bailed out by other people.

(17:14):
So if you think about it inthe High Republic, if you set the.
And this is what he goes on to say.
If you set it in the HighRepublic like some missing kids in
a spaceship gonna get whippedout by a, you know, a do good a Jedi
really quickly because there'stens of thousands of them.
If you set it during the reignof the Empire, they're going to get
picked up by the Empirebecause the space lanes and so eventually
they'll come across somestormtroopers and they'll just pick

(17:36):
them up.
And he just said that.
It just seemed a very logicalplace to put this because although
the New Republic's there, they've not really got this together
all that much.
That as we know they'recertainly not as they don't have
a military.
They're not as prominentthroughout the Gar galaxy as we've
seen in the Mandalorian onTatooine and wherever else.
Everything's still a littlebit Wild Westy.

(17:56):
We've seen it on Coruscantwith Senator Z and, and Harrison
Duller and Ahsoka.
You know, not everything'sgoing well there.
Resources are low.
So it just said there's roomfor pirates and Scoundrels.
But we needed to give room forpirates and scoundrels.
You know, we needed theability for someone to go and get
lost for a little bit andwithout the worry of.

(18:16):
Of, I suppose, the backlash, because you would.
You get the b.
That wouldn't have happened, you know, so it just feels.
It just reckons it feels likea good time space to.
To set this and.
And.
And to.
To give it room to breathe, which I quite like.
I think it's time forsomething fresh, you know, I think
it'll be quite nice.
We know we'll get some cameosand whatever else, but I.

(18:37):
I just seems like it's got areasonably clean slate and the time
period seems to fit that.
Yes, agreed.
No, I agree with this, mate.
I think this is a good.
A good shout because it's theMarvel TV issue.
Otherwise you think about alot of the Marvel TV stuff that's
on Disney plus where you'vegot like one or two people knocking
around saving the whole of NewYork or the planet, whatever.

(19:00):
There's no way that a lot ofthose stories would happen and all
of the Avengers are just onvacation somewhere.
Yeah, you know, it's like, come on.
At some point, one of theAvengers would have shown up and
just handled this, and away we go.
Of course, the biggest exampleis like, Eternals, and I wouldn't
have.
Yeah, no chance.
Yeah.

(19:20):
Yeah.
So I know that doesn't makefor very good storytelling, but,
you know, if you've got your, you know, what's the word?
Pedantic, you know, couple ofpints down, hat on.
Oh, yeah.
Well, you know.
Well, I don't agree with theAvengers thing because, you know,
Thor would have turned up andgot him over after this episode three.
So I totally get it.

(19:41):
You know, you can't have Jediknocking around to save the day.
You can't have the Empireknocking around to, you know, to
put a spanner in the works.
You've got to have a littlebit of breathing room just to tell
a good story.
So, yeah, I'm up for this, mate.
I think this is a good shout.
Yeah, I agree.
I think it'll be quite nicejust to see something a little bit
fresh.

(20:01):
Something that is completelysaddled to the saga is, of course,
Andor.
So season two, we got thelogo, an updated logo, which is actually
really quite nice.
You'll probably appreciatethis as a design bod.
Quite a nice little logo out there.
And we did importantly get aRelease date of April 22, 2025.

(20:22):
And off the back of that DiegoLuna has come out and just said,
look, this is going to bereally good.
We know you've waited a coupleof years for it, which, you know,
TV series come out every year usually.
But we're in a.
We live in a world ofstreaming now.
It just doesn't need to bethat, especially the budgets of these
things.
And he says it's worth the wait.

(20:43):
He says it will change thecomplexion of Rogue One.
You know, if we look at, Ithink season one was set.
Was season one set like 10years before, like around the solo
time frame at the real peak ofthe Empire?
And then Andor season two isset five years before the beginning
of Rogue One, with each threestory arc having a time jump between

(21:05):
them.
And by the end of it, we'regoing to see Saga, we're going to
see Mon Mothma.
By the end of it it will rollstraight into Rogue One, like literally
straight where we see himgonna get the, the Imperial defect
to the Imperial Spy and he'son that planet where he has to.
He has to kill the guy, sadly.
So this looks quiteinteresting, dude.

(21:27):
I'm that andor is that I'mgenuinely quite excited about because
I think Gilroy wrote a reallygood piece in Andor season one.
It was, you know, the pacing, some people had issues with that,
but it was a well written thing.
You know, no one, no one'spissed off at Breaking Bad either
or the Sopranos or, orwhatever or Succession for being
slow.

(21:47):
So yeah, I, I'm excited forthis, dude.
I'm excited for it and Ithink, I think it'd be interesting
to go back, watch season oneagain, you know, in my back end of
March, go and watch season oneagain, roll into season two and then
smash out Rogue One.
I think that'll be a nicelittle thing to do.
So yeah.
You're excited for this?
I am actually, mate.

(22:08):
Eoth.
And woe is us.
Yeah.
Star wars fans, we have towatch another new Star wars thing
that they're putting out.
Oh no.
So I think this is kind ofcool that we've got some details
as far out.
Normally we get stuff.
When is this out?
What month is it next year?
April.
April 22nd.

(22:28):
Yeah.
So normally sort of Februarytime we'd get some more details about
it and the teaser and stuff.
It's cool that we've got some, some deets on it already and I think,
yeah, it's one of thosedivisive things, isn't it, amongst
fandom because you've got asection of fandom that are very much
like, where are.
There's no lightsabers andthere's no pew, pew, pew.

(22:51):
And.
And all that stuff.
And fine, go and watch your.
Go and get your DVDs and yourBlu Rays out, mate.
Yeah.
Because you're not givingDisney money anymore.
I'm not going to fund that.
So go and get your Blue Razorand watch.
Yeah, of course you are.
Oh, how are you watching allthe Marvel stuff, then?
Oh, yeah.
What?
Well, it's a funny thing.

(23:11):
Funny thing that I didn'tactually cancel it.
I'm meaning to, you know, it'son the.
It's on the agenda.
There was a problem with mycredit card.
It just carried on paying.
Yeah, Neck be a jerk.
Those bloody credit cards, eh?
You just can't turn them off.
Hey.
But yes, I.

(23:31):
I'm looking forward.
It'll probably be their mum'scredit card dealer.
Well, my mom, she's actuallythe account holder and she doesn't
let me have passwords becauseI sometimes don't wear trousers.
Yes.
Oh, okay.
So just to confirm, you'd liketo cancel your Disney Plus?
Yes.
Are you the account holder, sir?

(23:53):
Yeah, funny story.
And then what you hear onbackground is this.
Mum, Mum, no, come here now.
No, Mom.
Hi, yeah, just.
Sorry, one second.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, thetelephone voice.
Yeah, just bear with me justone moment, please.
One second.

(24:13):
Yeah.
They'Re all watching it, mate.
They're all fucking.
We would.
This is something that happensin the Doctor who community as well
a lot, where there's a bigbunch of fandom that just cannot
stand, like, recent Doctor who.
Yeah, but, yeah.
Oh, but you're watching itevery week, though.

(24:33):
Well, yeah.
You know, you've got to watch it.
Have you?
Because you don't.
You just told everyone thatyou hate it and it's the worst thing
you've ever seen.
But you've got to watch itevery week, though, right?
How do I know what to slag offif I don't watch it?
Exactly, yeah.
So there will be a portion offandom that are like this with Andor
because they were like.
It was season one, however, screw that.
I think this was a really goodseries, just paced really well, actually.

(24:56):
You and I said that when wereviewed it, a lot of people complaining
about the slow pace andeverything, but we were like, nah,
man, cool.
Let the characters do their thing.
Build it up.
Yeah.
And I think if you frame thatin your mind as that, you know, I
think it's easy sometimes tosee Star wars and want a big twist
at the End or want a big cameoor a big ooh that connects to that.
Which a lot of Andor does and did.

(25:16):
But it's subtleties and it was storytelling.
And it's like when you.
We just finished Successionand you know that instantly grabs
you and you feel completelysatisfied by each episode.
And there's only a few showsthat have done that for me, like
Succession's one of themPenguins, one of them recently, then
Back in the Day, Sopranos,Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul.

(25:38):
I can't think of many more.
5, 6 series that every episodeyou're completely satisfied by.
And I think Andor's one of those.
Types where Sex and the City, maybe Satka.
Yeah, yeah, all of that.
And the movies.
And it's.
It's.
I think you just got to stepout of it being.
There's not going to be a big twist.

(25:59):
There might be a cameo, butit's not going to be like a ho, ho,
here's the savior, the Jedi.
And that was great inMandalorian when Luke turned up,
like, that was just adifferent type of great.
But that's the thing, I thinkthat a lot of Star wars fans don't
understand is there can bedifferent types of good and different
types of great and differenttypes of quality.
And it's.
They're all good and great.

(26:20):
They're just differentversions of it and different types
of it.
I just think that, you know,Andor's got a really unique place
in that.
So I'm looking forward to that.
Dude, I'm really keen for that.
We'll see if Diego Luna is.
See if he's telling pokies ornot, but I don't think he is.
I think it'll be good.
And I'm really keen to seeSkarsgard's character, see what happens
to him.
Like, he was one of the mostintriguing parts of this entire season.

(26:44):
So Lutheran Rail, I'm reallykeen to see what happens with him.
Same.
Yeah, he was really good, actually.
He provided a little bit of.
What's the word?
Gravitas.
Gravitas and intrigue into howhis character.
Because we.
They kept us guessing for awhile, didn't they, as to what he's
getting, what his deal was.

(27:04):
So, yeah.
Yeah, I'm up for that, man.
Yeah, really keen for that.
All right, let's get to somenews about.
About some toys.
And then we're going to finishup on some rumors, the rumor mill.
We could do this foreverbecause there's always.
There are always releasesaround Black Friday and Christmas
time.
But I picked out three forthis, I guess I know you'll have

(27:25):
seen some of these as wellthat we've got first up.
So the gifting Gift theGalaxy, which is a Hasbro initiative
where they're just over thecourse of a couple of weeks, every
day they release new products.
It's to try and add a littlebit of fun and a little bit of anticipation
to it.
But it's basically, here's allour product drop for Christmas.
Right, that's cool.
Nothing wrong with that.
But one thing that caught myeye was they've released the Black

(27:49):
series Force Effectslightsaber, which is a Balen skull
lightsaber which has got theready orange blade.
And apparently according tothe release, it's full size.
It's a full 1:1 scale size, which is actually quite rare in these.
Full 1:1 scale, fullyfunctioning inbuilt speakers, all

(28:10):
sorts of gear on it.
249 quid.
You can pre order it from next week.
As someone that's got a coupleof lightsabers, I've got the Anakin
one and I've got one fromBatuu that I made.
This looks really good, man.
Like for that kind of moneyyou are going to get a real quality
bit of kit here.
And I've seen the OB ones, youknow, I've seen these, this, this

(28:33):
series in the Obi Wan versionand that is really good.
So this is anything like this,I think it would be better.
It's a real good bit of kit, dude.
So, yeah, I'm not sure we'llpick this up because it's two is
250quid.
But it looks badass, man.
It does, yeah.
And what is it you said about it?

(28:55):
What's cool?
All the scale, like one to one.
It's pretty big.
That's kind of cool.
And apparently it's got someadvanced LED light systems built
in as well as well as theonboard speaker that you normally
get and stuff.
But I think it's really cooljust for those two reasons.
I think it's the unique sortof orangey red lava sort of colored

(29:16):
blade which is very cool, which they've captured perfectly.
So when you, if you were to goback and watch those eps when he
has a bit of a show showdownwith Ahsoka, this exactly the same,
which is really cool.
So you want that sort ofscreen accuracy and yeah, it's just
really cool.
Yeah, I'm not sure I'm gonnapick it up though.
I don't want to drop 270quid.
Just yet.

(29:37):
On a life.
Well, you're in like sideshowcollectibles hot toy territory there,
aren't you?
For a figure, if you're gonnadrop, if you've got 250 to stick
on a Star wars bit of kit, you're probably picking up an Anakin
or an Obi Wan or a Luke, youknow, some of the top tier figurines,
you know, the models.
That would be my view anyway.
And I'm right, so I'll sharethat view, mate.

(30:00):
You are.
No, Yeah, I was taking theapproach of all Star wars trolls.
Yeah.
By the way, I'm right.
Fuck you all.
I own Twitter.
All right, Elon, Calm down.
Shagger.
Easy, easy, boss.
Calm down.
He's shouting at me again.
Leave me alone.
You're not my real dad.

(30:23):
He's not your dad.
Shouldn't have said that.
Who pays the bills?
Yeah, I'm turning your Xboxgame pass off, you little nerd.
Get a job, Mom.
New character in the worksright here.
Tune back in January, January18, for more character development

(30:46):
like this.
All right?
Lego Lego Lego LEGO UltimateCollector series.
We've got a few of theseknocking around, haven't we?
They put out a LukeSkywalker's giant X34 land speeder
a couple of years ago.
A 1,000, almost 1,900 piecekit, which is.
It's about standard for a UCS.

(31:06):
Unless you've got like Mosaic,which I think is like 282 9.
About 2000 pieces is aroundthe standard.
It wouldn't be Black Fridaywithout a deal.
So we've got a report on thisone because it really is a.
It really is a good deal, this one.
So this has come down from 240 bucks.
It's come down by 65 to 175now for a UCS.

(31:29):
This is a genuine, actual, legitimate bargain.
Because UCS are expensive.
I've got the R2, I've got theBatman, Batwing and a couple of others,
Air Wing.
And I like, they're alwaysupwards of 222.30.
So this is a genuine deal, dude.
A genuine deal.
I actually, I'm not saying youwill pick it up, but I imagine this
is something that you wouldpick up.

(31:51):
Yep.
When I saw this, I was like,oh, for fuck's sake.
Yeah.
You know, when you've budgetedfor something, you think, right,
I've got my money lined up forsome other bits.
Not that I'm not, you know, abit of a shop.
You got a Beamer?
I've never.
I've Got an old Beamer becauseI like the old.

(32:12):
The old three rear wheel drivearound the old Rugby roundabouts.
Indicators are not working, lads.
I'm sending this car back.
By the way, there's thisglowing orange thing on the side.
I keep accidentally knockingsomething and it's the.
I don't know what it is.
Bringing it back.
Hi, mate.
I've got this light and itjust keeps coming on and flashing

(32:35):
and I don't know what to dowith it.
Don't use that, mate.
I won't bother with it.
Yeah, no one else does.
We're trying to get taken off, but.
The Beamer I've got is this.
I like the old 3 Series shapeand model, which is why I went for
it.
They look mint, to be fair.
They do look good, yeah.

(32:56):
And whenever I say someonesays, what are you driving?
Or BMW, it's always like, areyou whatever?
Well, it's weird, just a basic Beamer.
Because if you say to someone,I've got a Beamer, but if you say,
I've got an older Beamer, like, they sort of respect it more.
Do you know what I mean?
It's weird that I get that completely.
I do actually get that.

(33:16):
Anyway, you're gonna buy thisland speeder than.
Or what?
I think I might, mate.
I'm a sucker for the old.
For the land speed.
I'm glad they went with theX34, Luke's one as well, of course.
And not the older.
I wouldn't have been impressedwith the V35 courier model.
Yeah, no one wants that cheap crap.
Nah, nah.
So I might do, mate.

(33:37):
Might do good.
I just.
I've wanted it when it firstwas announced, but I just didn't
want to drop 250 quid on it.
But now it's that I'm like,oh, don't know, it's more tempting.
So I'm like, fuck, yeah.
No, I think it's it.
It looks smart, man.
It does.
It looks really, really smart.
I think things like thisalways look good displayed and like
they're just never reallygoing to age because the UCs are

(33:59):
done.
So I don't.
I don't want to say, obviously, like in a more detailed
manner, but they're done in.
In such a heavy duty way thatthey just look quality, like they're
not going to age.
Do you know What I mean?
20 years time, kiddo's got it.
You know, it's going to look good.
So, I mean, 475 quid, man.
Geez.
It's almost daft.
Not To.

(34:20):
I'll tell you what is daft.
Going out dressed as Darth Vader.
Don't do that unless you want to.
In which case we got your back.
Because Colombia, they do this annually.
We've had the Hoth stuff,we've had the X Wing stuff, some
rebellion stuff.
Columbia released moreclothing and this is all based on

(34:41):
Darth Vader.
And you know what?
I'm taking the piss a littlebit, but in all honesty, there's
some alright gear here, so.
There is.
There's some alright gear.
What I'll do is I'll gothrough the stuff that's not, and
then I'll sort of say what Ithink is decent and then we can just.
You can lambast me on it.
You can just hand me on it.
So that'll be good.

(35:01):
So basically all it is, I'mnot a logo guy, all right?
So I'm not a character guy.
I'm not a guy that's gonnawalk out with a wolf on his sweatshirt.
Nor am I a guy that's gonnawalk around with Darth Vader on his
T shirt.
I'm just not that guy.
I'm a plain margarita eating mofo.
All right?
So whilst there are somelovely T shirts that have got Darth

(35:23):
Vader on them, they're not for me.
Don't sweat that.
And I'll tell you what else.
I'm not going to buy some shoes.
I ain't buying walking boots, waterproof walking boots like Darth
Vader because he could barely walk.
So testimony null and void.
Nor am I buying the LiamGallagher bucket hat.
Nor am I buying that.

(35:43):
But what I will buy, what Imight buy, there's a couple of little
puffer jackets, there's a nicebaseball cap, and there's, there's,
there's actually like.
You know, when you're a kid atour age, right, and you're in like
the 90s, right, and it's likeyou need a new school coat.
And your dad's like, get onelike that.

(36:05):
I'm not gonna get one like that.
That'll look like a minor andnot a child.
An actual minor.
Yep, a duffel coat.
We used to go out in the mid-70s.
They were all arranged.
Well, they're not anymore.
Shagger.
So I'm not getting one of them.
Well, it turns out that hewasn't lying about fashion coming
round because there is whatappears to be a miner's duffel coat
there, but it's got inside ofit a little zipping puffer jacket

(36:26):
as well.
So I can see myself in that.
Looking pretty fly.
I can see myself in the otherpuffer jacket.
Little bit shiny, might look alittle twatty, but I'm willing to
risk it because I've gotcheekbones that'll pull it off, as
have you guys.
So Columbia's Darth Vader collection.
We'll stick a link in the show notes.
Go and have a gander, see whatyou want.
But are you gonna get some of this?

(36:47):
Guys, I think you look pretty fine.
Oh, my God, you forgot thesocks, man.
The Darth Vader did forget the socks.
They're low risk.
Aren't they though?
And there's a belt as well.
Imagine that, right?
Imagine that you're out on anight out, Saturday night out, right?
Mom, give me a credit card, right?
I'm going out, finally gettingout, right?

(37:07):
Getting out.
Neck beards.
Getting out of the basement, going out downtown, swanning round.
Get out there for like halfsix, whipping to walk about.
Boom, there she is.
Walk about, right?
Whipping to walk about.
Yes, love.
Two person lemony lemonade.
Thank you very much.
And some nuts, right?
Some of them.
You see her over the dance floor.

(37:28):
Boom.
Dirty dancing soundtrack on.
You whip your way over.
Spare Persona and lemonade.
The night goes well, you takeher home.
Things are getting a bit heavy.
This belt's difficult to get off.
Well, let me do it.
All right.
Wait a minute.
What is that on that belt?

(37:50):
Unrelated, do you know how toget an Uber at all?
Are there any Ubers around here?
Does Uber serve this area at all?
Neck beard, virginity intact, thanks to the Columbia Darth Vader
belt.
That's all I'm saying, man.
I'm not saying that happenedto me at any point, but I can see
how that would be a thing.

(38:12):
Poor first experience savedmom can't get this belt off.
Come on, take it out in a minute.
Come and give me hand.
This girl's like, you'reright, mate.
Yeah, just belt, yeah, New in it.
I've got the end of it.
I got.
There's a knack to taking it off.
It's a knack.

(38:33):
Only me and my mom can do it.
Aren't you 27?
Yeah, doesn't matter.
Don't talk.
Shut up.
Doesn't matter.
So what do you do?
Oh, God.
This new belt, love.
Oh, just hang on.
And like mom.
You can see like classicNetbeard anger coming in as mom.

(38:54):
A bit like Johnny Vegas on Benidorm.
Because she's not my mom, she's my peer.
It's a bit like an episode ofthe in betweeners.
Don't.
If any listeners have seen it.
Yeah, I've only seen itbriefly, but I remember seeing one
episode where this guy's aboutto have his first experience and
something's wrong downstairsand he starts punching the crap out

(39:15):
of it.
Can imagine that with his belt.
Just smacking the crap out of it.
It's a funny episode that.
Why don't you just work?
Why don't you just work?
Yeah, same thing with a belt.
Why don't you just come off?
And I need you to come off.
When I'm running in front ofmy friends when I try out for the
football team.
You fall down, don't you, you shit.

(39:35):
But not now.
Oh, yeah.
I mean, who knows?
That experience couldabsolutely happen with his belt.
We need a satirical YouTubeneckbeard channel that, like, parodies
Star wars fans, that are the trolls.
And we just, like.
Basically, that's ourcontribution to Star wars fandom,

(39:58):
is being like the police of.
But doing it through parodyand just being a fat net beard.
Yeah, it's just.
It's written itself, really.
It's written itself.
Yeah.
And since Carl Weathers died,we've not been able to make any of
those kind of jokes out of respect.
So we've not.
We've had no characters toplay against.
But now Darth Neckbeard returns.

(40:21):
The characters were there thewhole time.
We could even do his breathinglike Darth Vader, but it's just because
he's fat and got asthma.
Just get it.
Every time he runs upstairsfor a sandwich.
It's like.
The unboxing video.
Are you all right, Jason?

(40:42):
Jason?
Yeah, the unboxing video.
Jason, your Columbia packageis here.
You've got a shake, Mom.
Just drop it down the stairs.
But don't smash it.
Darfeed a belt.
And then he's like, definitelygot a telephone voice when he's recording

(41:03):
his YouTube.
Hey, guys, it's me, Jason.
I'm back with a brand newunboxing here on my channel, Roblox.
Yeah, and it's that.
Oh, man.
It's the same YouTube spiel aswell, isn't it?
Every other YouTube on the planet.
Are you Jason here?
I'm back again with another video.
Remember to hit, like, subscribe.
Don't forget to smash thatlike and subscribe button right now.

(41:25):
Smash it.
Smash it.
Let me know what you think inthe comments.
Yeah, we got more Star warscontent on the way.
Yeah, smash subscribe button.
Oh, man.
What are we talking about?
Jason the neckbeard in hismum's basement.
That Is quite literally asketch waiting to happen.
Jason.
Yeah.

(41:46):
So you're not gonna buy the belt?
Not getting the belt.
Because I'm fearful now ofthat playing out.
Yeah.
But I might pick up thebaseball cap.
It does look nifty, that.
Quite minimal.
Quite.
Yeah, yeah.
It doesn't shout like, look atme, I've just sucked off Darth Vader.
But it looks quite cool.

(42:07):
Well, it's one of those.
What I quite like about.
I'm a.
I'm a real big fan of subtletyand stuff like this.
It's one of those where unlessyou knew what it was, you're just
like, oh, that's a blackbaseball cap.
That's cool.
But yeah, and the subtletywould do it.
That's, I think, why I likethe jackets because, like, I'm not
a big puffer jacket guy.
But if, you know, you can buyjackets like that just else just

(42:28):
in the shops, you know, youjust get them.
It's not like it's.
Look at me, I've got Star warsemblazoned on my back sort of thing.
So I do quite like these.
Dude, it's got detachable sleeves.
One of them.
Yeah.
You turn into a gilet, mate.
It's all nice.
Gillette.
Rude Gillet.
Like it.

(42:49):
Rude gullet.
How have we never got to that?
Rude gullet Rudolet, the oldfootball player.
How have that.
How has that never become afunny thing?
And he's not really sayingball gullet, it's just.
And he's always getting it wrong.
No, Forest Jagger, it's notrude Hullet, mate.
I know you're into yourChelsea and your early 90s Netherlands

(43:10):
football, but mate, it's Borgulit.
Rude.
How's that not a parody?
Jesus, we're on fire.
Unbelievable.
Unbelievable.
Keep them coming.
Yeah, might bloody have to.
Right, we're going to finishup on two rumors from the mill of
Ruler.
Rumors.
Rulers.
Do you know why I said rulers then?

(43:31):
Because I'm looking at thisrumor and it's of Palpatine.
So in my head I was like rulerbecause he rules everything.
Done it.
So well done.
Yeah.
Never radio would I.
So we've got two rumors.
They're not rumors, they'rejust made up.
So the Sith archives have donea fan poster showing Tom Hiddleston
as Palpatine.

(43:52):
It looks like they've took usa photo.
A well lit.
It's either CGI or they'vetook a well lit photo of like a Loki
Hot toys.
Because the skin texture lookslike the throne one and then put
it into like a Star wars story.
Palpatine.
Now it's clearly bollocks, butthe Hiddleston stuff has gone around

(44:13):
for a while.
Even Emitter chimed in andsaid actually a younger Palpatine
story could be quite good.
And Tom Hiddleston gotinterviewed recently, I think with
Josh Horowitz.
Had a bit of banter.
Just saying I'd have to haveto age myself up a little bit.
That said, this is clearly rumor.
However, Acolyte's gone.

(44:34):
Darth Plagueis is around.
Khmer exists.
You know, there are threadsthat could be pulled upon that could
lead into a young Palpatine thing.
So I.
This is truly a rumor.
Like genuinely, I don't thinkthere's anything in this, but I could
see it happening.
I could potentially see it happening.
And I'll go as far as to saythat I think Tommy Dalton would actually

(44:56):
be perfect for it.
I think it would be reallygood for it.
So, yeah, what do you make ofthis dude?
Clearly bollocks in it, butcould be fun.
Yeah, clearly bs.
And it is a hot toys figure, I think.
Is it?
I think so.
Was it a low key one?
Yeah, I think so.
I mean if they were to do itthen I think it'd be like the casting

(45:20):
would be great.
I think he would be really good.
However, the only thing I cango on with Power, I could be wrong
here.
The only thing I can go onwith Palps's history is that.
And that's from the Plagueis book.
Nothing really happens withPalps until he gets into his kind

(45:41):
of like his.
20S, 30s, isn't it?
Yeah.
And even then nothing reallyhappens because he plays, as we know,
because that character's sogood at playing the long game.
He kind of established himselfas a bit of a sort of low key political
figure and then just behindthe scenes, you know, does his thing

(46:01):
quite slowly.
So casting wise, if they wereto ever do it, yes, I think Hiddleston
would be good story wise, narratively.
I just don't think there'senough meat on the bones unless they
just make stuff up.
Unless they just retcon hisstories backstory and throw in a
load of cool stuff perhaps.
But as it stands at theminute, yeah, it's not much.

(46:21):
Nothing really happens withhim until we get closer to him.
The Phantom Menace.
Well, it's.
Well, I think what'sinteresting about this entire setup
is that there's opportunityprobably to do like a Plagueis short
series and just, you know, tryand tie up some of the acolyte threads
with come here because he wassuch a good character.
And, you know, if you wanna.

(46:43):
If you want to bank a bit, just do something like that where
you finish those stories, youlean on Plagueis and you introduce
Palpatine as the next apprentice.
And it doesn't need to.
Like you said, everything thatPalpatine did was manipulating banking
clans with Plagueis and stuffand learning how to do stuff.
He didn't really go out and.
Well, certainly not accordingto the Plagueis book.
He was not doing stuff likeyou said, out in the galaxy.

(47:04):
He was being a politician andlearning to be a badass sith behind
the scenes.
So it's.
But again, you're sort of inthis challenging position where you've
got a book that people loveand Jason, the big neck Bee, Nikki,
BJB is gonna just fly off thehandle in it.
It's gonna fly off the handle.

(47:24):
Oh, this was not in the Plagueis.
But.
No, it's not.
It's not, is it?
And it show you then back tothe same issue, man.
Yeah, it's tough.
It's real tough.
Yeah, he'd lose it, old jb,wouldn't he just.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Straight on the Internet.
Twitter X.
Star wars is over.
Chuck all his Star wars stuff away.

(47:46):
But he'd like you do it likeBrent when he throws out the paper
magazine.
You know what I mean?
Oh, I'll just place it on thebin and go back and get it at midnight.
Crying.
I'm sorry.
Yeah.
I didn't mean to.
Millennium.
It's not you, it's them.
Hiddleston night dude would be good.
I like Kiddleston, mate.

(48:07):
I think he's really good.
I really like him.
I think he's good just overall.
So I think.
I actually think, like, he'svery good as Loki, but it's sort
of like that's like an easy role.
It feels, you know, he's just.
I think he's even.
I think he's just better thanLoki, which I'm not saying I don't
like Loki because I think he'sgood in that.
But.
Yeah.
Well, the next one is interesting.

(48:29):
So this.
This scoop of my time to shine.
Hello.
Has been doing the rounds.
We did this last week.
He scooped or they scoopedanother thing and they're calling
it a scoop.
It's not.
It's a rumor.
They've been doing everything, man.
They've been doing everything.
Daredevil, Spider Man,Avengers, Doomsday, Secret Wars.

(48:50):
This.
This scooper allegedly knows everything.
Right?
So it's clearly Made up.
But again, who knows?
So the rumor is that one HenryCavill is in talks to play someone
in Star Wars.
And then the article just goeson basically to list out every potential

(49:15):
movie that is in the works by.
By virtue of doing that.
Trying to link the fact thathe could be part of any one of these.
Of course he could, becausethey are movies that are in development
and they need people.
And then what they're doing islinking it to from 2016 at Cavill's

(49:35):
post, where he's got somediving gear on.
He's swimming in the sea withsome diving gear on, and he says,
love, you know, to paraphrase, love being Superman.
But out here being like avillain in.
In Star wars or ready to playa villain in Star wars, clearly referencing
the fact that his mask lookslike Darth Vader.
He's not saying I want to be avillain in Star wars, is it?
So I think this has just come.
I think it's just made up from that.

(49:56):
However, I like Henry Cavill.
It was good in Superman.
I thought it was a great Superman.
Eat if you disagree with me.
That's right.
I'm Jason the Neckbeard.
The other thing I liked him in.
I liked him Mission Impossible.
Really liked him in Wolverine,Deadpool and Wolverine.
Thought it was really cool inthat one.
Apparently he's in talks for aMarvel thing, but I'm gonna go out

(50:16):
here and say if he was goingto be in Star wars and he was going
to be a villain, give me aDarth Bane trilogy with him in it.
He would be a really goodDarth Bane.
Big, strong, scary.
Could start as the mine workerwith the hair and everything else,
and then just the descent intobeing Darth Bane.
I think he would nail that, man.
He's a right nerd as well.
He's one of us.

(50:38):
Yes, Agreed.
Yeah.
I like.
I like Cavill.
I think he's.
He likes you.
He's a cool.
He does.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Shook his hand a few secondslonger than he's comfortable.
So I knew.
I knew he got this for good.
And I.
I think my, you know, I thinkone of my fave Superman films with

(50:59):
him, man of Steel, is juststill, you know, back in the early
days before DC unalivedthemselves with all the.
That was such a cool film.
And he was great, so.
And he did show a little bit of.
I wouldn't say too much of adarker side, but when he was in the
Witcher for five minutes, he was.
Yeah, he was pretty cool in that.

(51:20):
Showed a bit of a darker thing.
So Darth Bane.
Yeah, I can see that, mate.
Yeah.
I think he would be good for that.
He's a big lad.
He's a beast sometimes, man.
Jesus.
Big lad.
Big lad.
He's definitely got thephysicality for it.
So, yeah, no, I will see a lot.
Clearly a room.
This my time to shine.
Hello.
Dude is literally everywhereright now.

(51:43):
Anything.
They're scooping anything and everything.
So we'll just see on that one.
But, yeah, I would never be averse from recovery or anything.
I think he got done dirty by dc.
I think he was brill, regardless of some of the other Snyder
stuff.
I thought the Superman stuffwas good.
Like, they were getting closeto a very good Superman then.
I agree.
Man of Steel was great.

(52:03):
I really loved man of Steel.
I thought it was a mint film.
That's another neckbeardsyndrome in it.
Our Superman wouldn't do that.
He would.
He's there.
It's literally written downthat he's done that.
God, yeah.
Superman doesn't have a hairy chest.
Who said that?
Yeah.
Oh, I don't know whospecifically said it, but all the

(52:25):
comic.
No, no, no, no, no.
In it.
It's fine, mate.
In it.
Superman didn't have hair chest.
Superman kill.
Get my laptop.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
My Chromebook.
I need my Chromebook right now.
Coming, honey.

(52:46):
Do you want some milk?
No, Mom, I'm an adult.
Okay, I'll save it for later.
Thanks, Mom.
