What are some of your favorite TV shows and more importantly,
how can you talk about them? An espanel. Let's find
out in this episode of Speaking Spanish for Beginners kital
sooy Marco Ferro two Professor Latino the espanel. In this episode,

(00:25):
you learn how to talk about the things you like
and don't like using the verb good. Start a fun
topic to connect with your amigos over the things you love.
Are you ready for this? Yes, mam. First we'll listen
to dialogue between two amigos, Gaspard and me Marco. We

(00:46):
chad about our favorite TV series. Pay close attention to
how they describe what they like and don't like. N espanel. Ready,
here we go. The gusta are gonna say it as part.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
See Magusta las Silo, Simpsons, Mehusta la sis and emalas
Estyno the Wusta lo Simpsons.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
No Motomeustan odra seris and emalas me Gusta South Park,
Ita me gusta rik amurty meoster las sis more.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
Negro tegusta la sais gon too sposa.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
No I mean supposa no Legustan South Park near riek Amurti.
Soon Muekstrania's elokas paraya ah yah lewustan las romanticas okay,
too difficult. Let's see. We talked about three TV shows,

(01:45):
Los Simpsons, South Park, e Driek and Marty Gaspar.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
Says megusta la silo Simpsons.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
I like the series Los Simpsons, and then he.

Speaker 2 (01:56):
Said, mehusta la sis and emasesty.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
I like animated series from the USA. Did you notice
something about gusta in each case? When he referred to
la sidi singular, he used gusta me gusta LACEDI Los Simpsons.
But when he talked about last saidis plural? He said,

(02:21):
gustan mey gustan las saidis the stallosunidos. What's important here
is that the very gusta changes depending on whether the
thing you like is singular or plural. May gusta laced singular,
may wustan last sais plural, And in the conversation I
use the same structures to refer to the shows I like,

(02:44):
may gusta South Park singular, me gusta dric and Morty
singular two. But may wustan las sais comor negro plural.
By the way, umor negro means dark, hue more en
espanol or more nero, may wustan last serious more nero. So,

(03:07):
as a simple rule, use gusta when the thing you
like is singular, and gustan with an end at the
end when it's plural. Easy psy. What if the thing
you like is an action averb. In that case we
use gustar in the singular form because averb comes as

(03:28):
a singular object. That's why Gaspar asked.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
The gusta last saies contespos?

Speaker 1 (03:34):
Do you like to watch serious with your wife? The
verb he uses is better to watch the gusta bear.
He didn't say the woolstan beer, but the gusta beart.
So with verbs, use the singular form of gustar gusta

(03:55):
may gusta versaious. I like wat serious, may gusta itra sine,
I like going to the movies. Mayosta bear, may wusta ear.
That's how it works. And finally, some thoughts on the
word may and they may gusta tegusta and so on.

(04:16):
Those words indicate who's the person that likes the object,
or think when I say may gusta is to me,
mayusta South Park. To me, that series is good, but
the gusta South Park that's to you, you like that
series the wusta. You can notice in both cases what

(04:39):
changes is the may or te before gusta, but the
very gusta remains the same. Learning those two forms may
wusta tegusta is a good starting point. Why because most
of your first conversations will be using may or te
and to say you don't like something simply at no

(05:01):
before that structure. For example, when I don't like a series,
I would say no me gusta las sidi. You see
mui fasil another you know the vocabulary. Let's listen to
the dialogue again. Here we go Agusta Algonas Park.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
See megusta la seria Lo Simpsons, Magusta la sais and
emdas estasnios the wusta los Simpsons.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
No moto betmeustan odra seris and emalas me gusta South Park,
Ita me gusta rik Amurti meusta las sis more.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
Negro tegusta bela saidis gon to esposa No I.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
Mean I supposa no Legustan South Park near rick AMORTI
soon Muekstrania's Elokas paraya ai Yah Legustan romanticas two difficult.

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
