two reasons. I'm going to tellyou why. Because number one, I'm

and most importantly, we haveCortney Liddell visiting today
in Courtney little is super,super, super special. She is a

Yes.
So Courtney, tell us a littlebit about yourself. Well, I
grew up in Bedford,Massachusetts. And at a young
age, I was diagnosed with a raremedical condition. I'm one of
250 people in the world that hasbeen diagnosed with this
condition which negativelynegatively impacts your immune
(02:15):
system. So I remember when I wasyounger, they also said that my
body couldn't metabolize fatproperly. So I went on my first
diet when I was about seven. Oh,wow. And I remember going to the
grocery store with my mom andbrother. And they said that I
can't eat anything more thanseven grams of fat every time I
(02:36):
eat. So that was like my firstdiet was Do you know, roaming? I
know it was it was not thehealthiest. So I was roaming the
streets of purity supreme backin the day. And I remember
crying in the aisle because Icouldn't eat a kudos bar because
it had, like 8.5 or somethinggrams of fat. I was like, oh my
god, I can't eat kudos anymore.
Yeah. So, you know, going on alow fat diet did nothing good
(03:00):
for my body. And I just startedexperimenting with herbs and
homeopathy and different typesof ways of eating. And
ultimately, I ended up reversingand healing my body.
Amazing. Yeah. So Courtney, didyou try anything? Or did your
parents have you tried anythingin the medical community?
(03:23):
Oh, yeah, definitely you are,you know, I have a really, I
have a very strong respect forboth Eastern and Western
medicine. I, myself am veryholistic. But what I'm going to
share today, I just kind of wantto preface that I definitely
have a strong respect for, youknow, doctors, nurses, the
medical community, I don't thinkanyone goes to school for 10

years that doesn't have goodintentions to help people, you
know, it's just unfortunately,in, you know, eight plus years
in medical school, they getabout an hour of nutrition. And
so and they're not learning, youknow, they're not learning about
herbs and vitamins. So there'scertain holes because they have
to learn about all the otherstuff that they're learning
(04:05):
about, you know, so I believethat we both need to work as a
team eastern and westernmedicine. Growing up, I was in
and out of the hospital, I had alot of infections, and it was
hard for my body to fight a lotof these infections. And I did
not get the help that I neededor the hope that route. Even
(04:27):
though I had some lovely nursesand doctors that I worked with,
it's just they really weren'tsure what to do with me. Which
is why I started my own selfstudy because I'm like, I'm not
gonna take this as like youknow, like a deficit Yeah, I'm
not I'm not I'm not gonna like Ijust knew there had to be
answers soso the medical community this is

my opinion, absolutely has itsplace Oh my god, but often I
feel in times of trauma. Andalthough you were in trauma
there we know now Now Hindsightis 2020. Right? That there were
things you could do in everydaylife,
that would have greatly greatlybenefited me. Right. You know,

so that's what we're going totalk about today. Yeah,
definitely. So throughout highschool, I started doing, like
nutrition coaching. Like I wentto people's houses and like,
went through their kitchens andstarted doing counseling for
people with nutrition in highschool when you were in high
school. Yeah. And thenthroughout college, too, I would
do like house calls.

Lila, did you do anything likethat? I got a little secret in
high school. Did you doanything? Like doesn't have to
be nutrition? So I'm justcurious about you. Because I'm
over here going. I used to putmakeup on people. I mean, that
you can't see me but I have afull face and makeup on. I love
makeup. I was like a littlelike, self made makeup artists

who arelike Mary Kay back in. Like
1992. Did you haveanything? Yeah, what I was doing
in high school.
That's a different episode.
It was not helping anyone.
That's for sure.

So okay, so So I digress. Soyou're, you're in high school,
and you're teaching nutrition,okay,
for like a handful of family andfriends. And you know, I still
didn't have it all down at thatpoint, too. I was still going
through trial and error myself.
And I wasn't like fully healedat that point. But I knew enough
to help guide people. And thenthroughout college, I helped
(06:36):
also some family and friends aswell and did some house calls
for people and kind of cleaningout their pantry and what to
keep and what to kind of ditchand graduated with a degree in
Human Nutrition and Dietetics.
And then shortly after college,I opened up nutrition and
wholesale solutions, but at thetime, it was named lifestyle
(06:58):
nutrition. I switched the namein 2010. So at first it was
just, you know, me as thenutritionist as part of the
business. But that was 15 yearsago. So this January 2022, will
be 15 years in business. And Inow have a team of 14 employees
(07:18):
self amazing. Yeah, they'rephenomenal. Absolutely
phenomenal. So it's myself and ateam of nutritionists. That is
that makes up the team ofnutrition and holo solutions.
That is so great. So youbasically went through dark
night of the soul. So this iswhere so many spiritual, ya
(07:39):
know, like seven years old,I remember being in children's
hospital like watching themorphine drip and like, I'm not
sure if I'm gonna make itthrough the night like I
remember that thought vividly.
Andso by the time you were 15, you
found your life purpose.
Oh, definitely. Like I knew Iwanted to go and trician in high
school,because you are passionate,
like, I can feel that as you sithere and talk. It saved my life.

It savedyour life. It saved my life,
mentally, emotionally, and Iknow I definitely battled with
foodstuff because, you know,it's almost like that first
diet, I went on, like, I wasafraid to eat fat, because the
doctors told me I couldn'tprocess that properly. So like,
I had to do a lot of mental andemotional shuffling around food
(08:21):
I, you know, I definitelyexperimented with all the diets
that weren't healthy. So myweight has been too low. At
times, it's been too high attimes and everywhere in between.
So I feel like I can reallyrelate to clients on all ends of
the spectrum that are battlingwith their weight or chronic
illness. Because at the office,we see people who are really

sick, it's not just aboutweight, we have people with
cancer, autoimmune diseases,digestive disorders, you name
it. So it's not just aboutweight, we see a little bit of
everything, to be honest withyou.
So I was going to say when youwere so sick, did at any point
(09:02):
anyone, doctor, nurse or anyonedirect you towards food or what
you were eating other than thefat, you know, to avoid that
amount of fat? Did theyknow okay, and they basically
told me I was going to be adiabetic and have kidney disease
and all this other stuff, whichI don't have any of it. It was
my uncle Michael, actually, mymom's younger brother. He was
very into holistic medicine andgave my mom different, like
(09:25):
smoothie recipes and greens. Andso we started juicing when I was
younger, and experimenting withhealing smoothies, and then I
saw some different types ofalternative practitioners. And
that's when things started tochange. And I remember one of
the alternative practitionerswhen I was younger, he looked at
me straight in the face and hesaid, Courtney, he goes 99.9% of
(09:46):
healing and then he pointed tohis brain like is in your head.
And I was so young, I didn'tknow what he meant. But it was
like every cell in my body waslike this guy's right and I
don't No, why. But as I gottatell you that as I got older, I
was like, wow, the more you healthe mental, emotional spiritual,

the faster the physical heals,right? So that the mind as we
know is completely connected tothe ego. And the ego houses all
the limiting beliefs. So if youhave someone of an authoritative
figure telling you that this iswrong with you, and you're
(10:28):
789 10 years old, not only dobelieve it, your emotional
component is developing duringthose in those formative years.
I was like owning being the sicksibling. Yeah, I was I like, on
some level, I was like, I worethat hat. And I wore that name
(10:49):
as being like the sick girl orthe sick friend, the sick
daughter, I remember talking tomy mom and brother and being
like, don't look at me as yoursick kid or sick sister anymore.
Because like, I know, I'm owningit. On some level. I had these
conversations with my familywhen I was younger, I don't even
know where it came from. Butlike, it's it's so true. Like,
if you're debt being diagnosedwith anything currently, like
(11:09):
don't own that name. You don'thave to own it for the rest of
your life.
Right? Yes. So it's just likeeven saying, let's, let's give
everyone a little mantra words,like I am on a healing journey
is that is that proper words forsomeone in your, in your line of
(11:30):
work, that's going throughsomeone that's physically not
healthy, because we're going totalk about all different ways.
But I think that words are sopowerful. And I think I feel
that positive affirmations arelike, hugely powerful, but they
had to be believable, in orderto properly rewire limiting
beliefs and rewire certainthought patterns that, you know,
(11:52):
were engraved in our bodyconsciously and subconsciously.
So I really like to use thisstatement, I'm in the process
of, so I'm in the process ofhealing. I'm in the process of
attracting to me the resourcesand practitioners that I need to
help support my healing process.
I'm in the process of peelingback the layers and getting
(12:12):
better with time. I love that.
Yeah, that's good. You know, soif you're like, I'm healing,
it's like the brains like, yeah,that sounds great. But it's not
super believable. But if you'rein the process of healing,
that's true. Because you're you,you have the awareness to listen
to a podcast like this to wantto know more about different
modalities, or, you know, you'rereading, you know, things online
(12:35):
and trying to develop, you know,more information to help heal
your body. So it is true, youare in the process of healing.
Yeah, it has to be believable.
Yeah.
So you do a lot of cool things,because I've been honored to
know you for quite some timenow. And I do want to talk about
functional lab testing. Sure,because this is this is very up
(12:59):
and coming. So this is my littleinterpretation of Courtney's
amazing office, is it's a groupof nutritionists that each are
authentically true to theirskill set. So some have
different directions thanothers. Like I do read your
emails. So you took on a lovelyman that works with cardio or

how stole he's outstanding. Like he get to me or
knee is outstanding. They eacheach person whether you know, my
team member that works at thefront desk, or behind the scenes
or is actually a practitioner atthe office. I actually don't
know how I got so lucky to workwith such an amazing team of
people. Their gifts are out ofthis world well,
(13:48):
like attracts like, right? Solike a magnet. So you have this
amazing team. And then they aretrained in NRT
and nutrition coaching. Yeah,so let's talk a little bit about
this. Lila makes the face. Iwant to know what it is. Yeah.

Yeah, I'll break it down. Yeah.
Intermission for a little day.
You know, I guess the quickestway to explain it is nutrition
and Hall solutions was based onfive elements. So the foundation
of my office is based on fiveelements. So when someone comes
in the door and they'resuffering from migraines, or an
(14:31):
eating disorder, or they haveCrohn's disease or thyroid
condition, we look at eachclient that walks through the
door, whether they're four yearsold or 80 years old, on five
levels. So number one isphysical, and that's your organ
function and what you're doingphysical activity wise, two is
nutritional. Three isenvironmental, for emotional and
(14:55):
five spiritual, and we're reallybig on Our clients taking the
self responsibility of like,okay, I'm going to take
responsibility for my health andwhere I am now. Ownership Yeah,
and really educating them onmaybe why their body manifested
these symptoms and or diseaseand the path to healing. And a
(15:19):
large part of what we do isnutrition coaching, so teaching
you what you should eat and whyfor your body. And then there's
testing that we do calledNutrition Response Testing. When
I learned about this, in my lateteens, early 20s, it my health
completely transformed. I cannotsay enough about Nutrition
Response Testing, I, my, myhealth just went up so many
(15:42):
notches, and I peeled back somany layers quickly with it,
which is why I opened up thebusiness because like, oh my
god, I can't keep I can't keepthis secret
in. So before you get into nRT,yes, she just said something
that's so powerful. And I wantto see if you caught this. So
many people go through physical,spiritual, emotional struggles,
(16:08):
and they want to know how to getout of it. Like how to fix me.
But Courtney just said, we wehelp you see how you got here.
It's taking ownership. It'spersonal responsibility. Yeah.
And soyou're with you had your back in
your IBS. And that's been a bigpart of why was healing process
(16:29):
is like, okay, really? They gaveher I'll let you tell them you
tell everybody big mouth overhere.
Well, so the back has actuallybeen pretty good lately. But the
IBS is is still its own. It'sits own thing I you know, I have
(16:53):
been to you know,gastroenterologist, and, you
know, was given nutritionadvice. I was literally given
like, eight things like eatthese eight things.
They teach you how the IBSmanifested.
No, oh, no, no, no, no, CourtneyLowen. So I ate like these, you
(17:14):
know, eight different foods, youknow, it was like zucchini, you
know, whatever. And obviously,you can imagine, like, you can
only do this for so long. Andthen if my stomach was upset, I
would eat a bag of chips orwhatever, because it was already
bad. So a difference? Yeah,like, Screw it, you know, it's
working.
And, you know, I went through,you know, testing colonoscopy,
(17:37):
all that stuff. And thankfully,you know, there's nothing
serious trauma, wrong, right?
But they can treat basically.
And I remember sitting in thegastroenterologist office, and
he's like, this is just the wayit's gonna be like,
for the rest of July on Prozac,or do you want some Xanax to
deal with the stress of it all?
I was like,Well, what do other people do?
Like, what does anybody do? Andhe was like, Well, you know,
(17:58):
some take a probiotic, you couldtry a probiotic. But you know,
it's just, it is what it is. Andthere was like tears, like
streaming down my face. Like, Icannot live my life like this.
But I did figure out one of thefirst things I had to do is
really just kind of accept thatsomething was was going on. So I
had to take a look almost aroundwhat you're saying about taking
(18:21):
ownership of it. I had to saylike, Okay, well, something is
going on, and I'm going toaccept that it's going on, and
I'm gonna sort of take cues frommy body about, you know, what
makes me feel bad. What makes mefeel good. Try and forget all of
that. So if you're listening tothis, and you're going through
(18:42):
something like Lila or insertyour own struggle right now, the
first thing to do is accept itYes, is accept that I am a
spirit, having a humanexperience in human life can be
hard, so hard, and we struggleso hard. So we just need to
accept was notto beat ourselves up. It's not
(19:03):
too big. Oh my God, what did Ido wrong or to feel guilty? It's
just to be like, Okay, this iswhere I'm at right now. And
maybe looking like if you have athyroid condition, like if you
were diagnosed with ahypothyroid, you didn't wake up
on Tuesday morning, like, wow,this is a great day to have
Hashimotos hypothyroidism, youknow, that was like 10 to 15
years in the making. So it'slike, okay, you're at chapter
(19:26):
let's say, you're 42 you're atchapter 42 of your life. You
know, what were the previous 10chapters, what type of trauma
what type of toxin exposure,exposures, were you exposed to?
Your sleep patterns, exerciseyour nutrition, and it's looking
at your life on all those levelsover the past several years, and
(19:48):
like, okay, and why did my bodymanifested right now? Like, what
was the thing that just kind ofmade it all? Yeah, go and it's
not to feel guilty or to Eatyourself up. It's just to maybe
more understand, like maybe whythis manifested? Yeah. And if
you don't know, there's peopleout there that can help with
that story. So I feel like whenyou understand more how the body
(20:11):
works, and maybe why it got towhere it is, you can more fully
understand the path to healing.
So it takes away a level ofstress. It's like, oh, okay,
well, this happened. And thishappened. And that's probably
why this happened. So this iswhat I need to do. It's like, a
more calm, peaceful approach tohealing. There's no quick fixes.

Beautifully broken. That's whatI love that. This Angelina is
just beautifully broken. In it,because it's real. It's real.
Because there's no perfect.
Anybody. Oh, my God, no. And sowe evolve as humans, right. You
know, like, you know, you mayhave some really good years with
(20:53):
health, and then things mayhappen, and it's just part of
life. Everyone's worlds gotrocked the past two years. Yes.
And I think we're all trying todo the best that we can. But as
our bodies evolve, and ouragriculture evolves, and the way
food is supplied, evolve, itevolves like, we need to kind of
move with the times. Yeah, youknow, and it's, it's not like
(21:16):
good girl Bad Girl, like, Oh, Idid this wrong. It's nothing
like that. Yeah, like, let thatout the door. That doesn't help.
So I'm glad Lila brought up theacceptance. And then so yeah, at
this point, let's go back to theNRT because I am so that's the
trician response to testing.
Yeah, that's a muscle test thatyeah, I am a big believer. I've
(21:37):
had it done on me. I'm gonna letCourtney speak about it. I mean,
my little interpretation, Idon't do it because we know I do
everything psychically. I do myown way. Basically, the, the
muscles in your muscle memory,and the muscles inside your
(21:59):
body. Basically hold the truthabout you. Right, I can let you
put this into people words.
Yeah.
So applied kinesiology has beenaround for years and for all the
engineers and scientistslistening and you know, which I
was like that too. Like when Ifirst learned about nRT. I'm
(22:21):
like, this is a joke. I knowhim. I know. I'm holistic, but I
don't buy this like I'm such askeptic. And I do like science.
I am that nerdy side of me.
There's this big blue book, itlooks like a dictionary and it's
called applied kinesiology andit actually explains the science
behind muscle testing. SoNutrition Response Testing, or
an AR T is a form of muscletesting or a form of applied
(22:45):
kinesiology, which really honesinto deficiencies like vitamin
deficiencies and then the toptoxin so the top toxins and
HIDDEN stressors today areimmune challenges like viruses,
parasites, Candida bacterias,hitted, food sensitivities,
metal toxicities, chemicaltoxicities and actually active
(23:09):
scars. your largest organ isactually your skin. So if you
have a major scar on your skin,it can actually affect messages
on along the autonomic nervoussystem. And so I didn't know
that yeah, you know, you'lllearn something new every day
Angel Ami.
So I had skin cancer, I've toldyou this in had it removed from
(23:34):
my back. I have probably a threeinch scar and it looks beautiful
and beautifully broken. And sowhat does it tell it to count?
Tell me that again?
Yeah, so a large part of ournervous our autonomic nervous
system is in our skin. So forinstance, like the acupuncture
(23:55):
meridians for your thyroid areall along your knees. So if you
have scars on your knees, it canaffect thyroid function because
it's all connected. You can haveScott Sonny's Yeah, you can you
can have scars on your body toothat are inactive and like all
the messages are flowingthroughout the skin fine. It's
like a non issue. But if youhave a scar that's active, think
(24:16):
of it like a dam in the river.
You know, like the riversupposed to flow but if there's
like a huge dam in the river,there's backup there's detours
things are confused. No oneknows. A little bit of a hot
messright now I'm seeing like you
know the airplane landing theair
what I'm doing with my hands,but I have I have women who have
(24:38):
had C section scars on me whereyou know, it's inactive,
everything's fine, the scarhealed fine and all the messages
are you know, running along themidline of the body, no issues,
the messages are getting to theorgans all as well. And then I
have women who have C sectionscars where it's actually a
blockage and then they start togain weight around that area or
(24:59):
that There's different, likesometimes when they laugh or
cough, even 10 years later, theycan feel like a part of the scar
that still feels likesomething's that relatable.
Yeah, yeah, Ididn't have CeCe I did not.
Lucky girl. Yeah. So so at theoffice, we do Nutrition Response
Testing. So we're basicallyasking each person's innate
intelligence because when you domuscle testing, which is called
(25:23):
applied kinesiology, it meansthe same thing. I use it
interchangeably. So I don't wantanyone to get confused. But NRT
is a form of muscle testing thatwe use, which basically your
body's innate intelligence isletting us know like, okay, here
are all the areas of my bodythat are doing really well. And
here are the organs or places inmy body that need a little TLC.

But here's why I'm likedeficient in B 12. And I have
some excess heavy metals thatneed to be flushed out. And once
I do that, that organ will startworking more efficiently. You
know, so it fascinate it'sfreaking awesome. Like this
stuff, lights me up. I love it.
I really love it.
So tell us a little bit abouthow the testing works. Like how
(26:07):
exactly you do it. Yeah. Soyou can do NRT standing up, you
can do it sitting down, you cando it on a massage table. And
excuse me. And basically whatyou're doing is it's hard to
explain. I wish we were on videoright now. And I could show you
it's like definitely more of avisual thing back. Yeah, we're
coming back. Yeah, we gotta getthe video. Yeah, I know, you
(26:27):
didn't wear that makeup fornothing. Ever nothing, Angel. So
there's, there's visuals on ourwebsite. And you can also
YouTube it as well to like getthe visual. But it's basically
we take, you know your arm andwe actually muscle test one of
your arms, and we're recruitingthe muscles of the deltoid. And
(26:48):
there's certain areas that willgo over in your body where your
body will produce what's calleda strong muscle response where
the deltoid muscle will lock up.
If there's an area that needssome love, and some TLC, like if
I put my hand over my heart, andif your muscle testing my heart,
if like my heart is low onmagnesium, or B vitamins, or I
(27:09):
need fish oil, my arm will godown because your body's like,
Hey, look here, please. And ifthere's anything stressing out
the heart, like let's say,there's a bacteria or something
like that. Your body will let usknow because we have different
testing vials too. So for thelast 15 years at the office,
we've been doing nutritioncoaching, and we really focus on
(27:30):
like the mind and the body. It'snot like oh, Here, eat this many
calories. It's not it's notcookie cutter. So
I am a big believer in themuscle testing. Yeah, because I
test everything. Yes. As the nothrough the angels. Yes. And I
just say is this really legit?
It's either a yes or no. is amuscle testing legit? Yeah, yes.
(27:50):
Right. And that's just how Iwork. It's so black and white.
And yeah, no sugar coated thatunnecessary. So I'm a big
believer in in muscle testing. Ilove it.
It's so cool. Because it's ithas nothing to do with myself or
my team of nutritionists. It'sthe clients body letting us know
(28:11):
like you are your best healer,you are your best doctor. You
are your best nutritionists werelike the male men and women
delivering the messages.
That's how I feel too in mywork. And I love Courtney, that
in your practice it you look ateach client as a unique
(28:33):
individual unique soul. As Isay, it's not one size fits all.
And so in Lila is experienced,that's basically what she got
was the blanket and respond. Buteveryone's
root cause to IBS is different.
Exactly. So like, if there was,if there was one diet that fit
all, we'd all be on it, right,but like we're the most obese
nation and have the highest typetwo diabetes, and so on and so
(28:57):
forth. So there's not one dietthat fits all. And there's also
not one root cause IBS is one ofthe easiest things we handled.
Oh, by the way, so that's, yeah,there's a lot of hope we can
talk later after an after thepodcast on that, but your body
will just let us know what'sgoing on. And I'll explain more
(29:18):
later. But IBS. We like clickour heels when a client comes in
with that. So yeah, you're gonnabe you're gonna be in good
hands. Definitely. And so overthe past year, or year and a
half, I've introduced it. I'veintroduced functional lab
testing. Oh, excited. Yeah. Andthe reason why is because, you
know, working with literally1000s of clients over the last
(29:39):
15 years, you know, I bet Okay,can I can I get your blood work?
Did you have your physical andsometimes people would give me
one sheet of paper that wouldhave like just a handful of lab
results. And then other peoplewould hand me like five pages.
And it's completely inconsistentcompletely. Sometimes they were
fasting Sometimes they weren't.

And also what I was noticing is,for instance, vitamin D, right?
Vitamin D is not just a vitamin,it kind of works like a hormone.
It affects your energy, yourmood, your thyroid function, as
well as your immune system. Andobviously, a lot of people the
past couple years are talkingabout it's like a hot thing.
When you go to your doctor andyou get your Vitamin D checked,
(30:25):
the at the lab, like on thepiece of paper, it says what's
normal and healthy for vitamin Dis 30 to 90. I do not agree with
that whatsoever. So for optimalhealth, your vitamin D should be
60 to 100. So so many people aregetting their bloodwork back and
like yep, everything looks fine.
And then I'm looking at himlike, Girl, this is not like
that. We gotta do Yeah. And it'slike the easiest fix to like,
(30:47):
like the things that I pick upon people's bloodwork. So I'm
like, Okay, so I've beenin she checks your poop. Lila. I
know. Let's talk about poop.
Yeah. Are you ready to talk shiton the spot? Yes. Okay.
So so it's it's like an it's theway it should be an overhaul. I
know. I'm I don't gross out of abodily functions. Okay, we all
(31:11):
poop. We all have saliva. Wethis is the way the human body
was made. Right?
I've actually done a poop test.
So yeah, have you? I actuallythink I've done two now. But I
think so whenyou so that proper terminology.
Yeah,it's still so when I was sick.
When I was younger, they keptmissing an infection that I had.
So I had stool testing down whenI was younger. But it wasn't
(31:33):
getting to the lab fast enough.
And even the doctor will tellyou interesting to add like your
PCP like it's about 50%accurate. So I actually I had
something called C Diff C.
difficile, which most peoplepick up within a week or two. I
had an undiagnosed for sixmonths. It nearly killed me. It
was horrible. But they kept onoverlooking it. Yeah, you know,
(31:55):
they kept on and then I didn'thave a proper stool test that
missed it. So. So that's whywhen I was getting into the
world of functional lab testing,because I've seen different
people throughout the years, andI've gotten like more advanced
testing data. I'm like, wow, Iwant to bring this into NW HS so
bad. Like people need this. Dothey really do even just
(32:15):
preventatively? Right. So when Iwas looking at what school to go
through, and like what, youknow, tests to bring in, I was
like, I want the best poop testI want. Like, I want stuff
that's not 50% accurate. I wantlike 100 Yeah.
So Courtney basically gets tothe nitty gritty of like, what's
(32:36):
really going on with you? It's,it's very specific.
So it's very physical, though,like, I'm very, I believe that.
So how do I say this? The, themajority of our healing really
should be looked at mentally,emotionally, spiritually, like
we really need to heal mentally,emotionally and spiritually. So
(32:59):
I like to be careful when I talkabout lab testing, because it's
very physical. Sometimes peopleare like, just run my labs and
just tell me what's wrong andtell me what to do. But like,
they need to work on that otherstuff. Like you need to know how
to eat, you need to beexercising consistently. You
need to have the tools in yourtoolbox to help manage your
emotions, I'm not going tomagically do your lab tests in
(33:20):
your life is going to change.
You know, like, you have to haveall the other
so hard. I always want the labdoes that make everything all
better? Yeah,but there's no quick fixes and
an animal always gonna keep itreal. This lab testing is
outstanding. But it works whenyou're when you have the other
pieces of your life in some sortof balance, or you're actively
aware, you know, like, you know,what your stresses are, and, you
(33:42):
know, maybe you're, maybe you doyoga, or maybe you meditate, or
maybe you're seeing a counselor,like you know, you actually have
those tools in your toolbox tohelp manage the stress and
emotions like that's reallyimportant that when a client
comes to me that they're alreadyaware of those things and
already eating pretty wellconsistently, because I can do
someone's labs all day, but ifyou're eating like crap and not
(34:03):
exercising and not handling yourinner child, yeah, your your
labs are always going to, youknow, be an issue.
So Courtney is on the money inlet's do really quick Angel AMI
storytime before we dive backinto functional lab testing. So
Friday nights so we got thiselectric car I think I've said
that on here before and I'mabout to have a level two
(34:27):
charger installed on the side ofmy house. And so we on Friday
nights go to I'm on the borderof Massachusetts in New
Hampshire. We go to NewHampshire to this charger that
charges that quickly, in like 45minutes. So it happens to be at
(34:48):
a Walmart and I'm not a Walmartperson, but this Walmart is
amazing. So we've been doingWalmart dates right? Love it
this Lila so we're walkingaround Walmart, the cars
charging. And we're in like thehome section and because blah,
blah, blah. So we go over towhere the food is, and my
(35:09):
husband wants to look at beer,because now we're in New
Hampshire and great, you go lookat the beer. So I've been in
there an hour. And it's nowFriday. And as I've told you
all, I'm recovering fromherniated disk. So my back now
is trash. And I look at him, Isaid, grab your beer, and we'll
check it out. So there was ahula hoop on the ground in one
(35:35):
of the aisles. And I went aroundit with my cart, because I just
couldn't bend over to get it.
And this woman starts to say,very angrily, people are so
lazy, they can't even pick up ahook. She starts walking up
behind me with her carrying thehula hoop. So I just peacefully
move. And Courtney just touchedupon something about all the
(35:59):
groups of spiritual, emotionaland physical is, the reason why
she doesn't trigger me isbecause there's a mindfulness
that I know that she can't feelmy pain, but I can feel hers. So
I'm not going to fault her,because she can't do what I can
(36:24):
do. And so in that moment,that's
really, really hard for themajority. I feel like if the
public to do especially nowlike, you know, all the yes, all
the, you know, opposing sidesover the past couple years, it's
like there's such a freakin lackof compassion and understanding
(36:47):
for where people are add onwhatever side and whatever
viewpoint that like, there'ssuch a lack of understanding and
compassion. It's very hard forpeople to take themselves out of
themselves and put them intosomeone else's shoes. But you've
done so much work on yourselffor so many years, and your soul
evolved. And I feel like we needto get to that story at Walmart
(37:09):
and the hula hoopwe do, and I feel I want
lightless love and I really wantto express it. There's a
mindfulness though, that I, Ipractice this it's a practice.
Yes. And that woman coulddefinitely because think of the
energy you expend to be likethat, and people are so lazy.
(37:31):
Oh, you know what I mean? Likeshe's expending a ton of energy.
And Ialmost turned around and said, I
am. I'm 46 years old. I haveherniated disk. Call me that.
Yeah, I'm okay with it. In amoment. Very quiet, right. I'm
okay. Because you know what,Leila? It's not my truth. Well,
(37:52):
yeah, yeah, I joke about it. Butit's not my truth to be angry.
Back at her. Right. It's justnot who I am. I'm gonna love
her. She throws drags me aroundthe corner to the beer aisle.
(38:13):
She probably needs one. Right?
Yeah,I think so. Okay, so last but
not least with functional labtesting is the other any
components of it? We didn'ttouch upon, that people should
know about.
Yeah, so the lab testingbasically just dives deeper. So
I offer a stool test, whichanalyzes your full gut
(38:36):
microbiome. And in your gutmicrobiome, that's where over
80% of your immune system is,that's also where over 80% of
your serotonin and dopamine thehormones that control your mood
are produced, not in your brain.
They are neurotransmitters, butwhen someone has got issues,
they usually are dealing withsome type of mood stuff as well.
And this stool test, it's calledthe GI map, really, lets us dive
(38:58):
deep into the gut microbiome andsee the imbalances so that's one
of the tests I provide, then Ido comprehensive blood work. So
I don't just measure one part ofyour thyroid like TSH T three T
four, I measure like Cisco sixor seven different markers of
your thyroid to see are youdeveloping a thyroid condition?
And is it just a hypothyroid? Oris it autoimmune? I also do test
(39:23):
for SIBO, which is a breath testthat small intestinal bacterial
overgrowth, and I do a bloodtest which analyzes 170 foods
and food chemicals and itsinflammatory response in your
body. Oh, wow. It is so cool. Ijust had a really cool I just
had a guy he. He's one of myclients and he did it. And he's
(39:46):
like, I knew sweet potatoes. AndI was like, What do you mean?
He's like, just intuitively likeI knew when I was eating sweet
potatoes, although it's healthy,like it wasn't good for me at
this point in my life right now.
Like he could He knew it on somelevel, but he was so validated
when he saw it on paper. Youknow, people love, ya know, and
(40:07):
it's so motivating, just liketell me my safe foods that my
body can break down with easeand like, make my body thrive.
And tell me the foods that areyou know, I need a little
vacation from right now whetherthey're healthy or not healthy,
right? Isn't it fascinating,so fascinating. And you know, so
much of this stuff is sort ofjust coming to light. Like
through being able to test this,I think it seems almost as
(40:28):
though people are starting toacknowledge that the gut is so
important, so important toeverything else. I think it's
fascinating. We dodo saliva hormone testing, but I
always like to clean up the gutfirst. You know, when she's
going up the gut, a lot of timessomeone's hormones recalibrate,
you don't even need to do thehormone urine or saliva testing.
(40:50):
So I do provide that when and ifneeded, but really just getting
to the gut and really figuringout what's going on there. And,
you know, again, handling youremotions, being consistent with
food and exercise and sleep allthose things. It's it's never
just one thing. I think peoplelike they want that one thing.
It's not oneeliminate the sweet potatoes.
Yeah. Always like sweet potato.
(41:14):
I know. I'm a foodie. Will you?
Oh my God leads to I love I loveit.
I know you. I know you. I lovethat about you. Yeah, I love
everything. You know what I loveabout you, Courtney, is you're
always like Angel, Amy. Justeverything in balance.
Everything is like people saymoderation, but it's really
balanced. Right? So if you kindof like balance your plate, and
(41:37):
then it's like your daughter'sbirthday, eat the cake,
the freaking cake. The cake andI always say, you know, save
this stuff for the specialoccasions. You know, like, I
have this thing. It's called thehair flip. Okay, so you have a
birthday once a year. It was mybirthday this weekend. I had
(41:58):
Thank you. I had dessert. And Iwasn't like oh my god. I can't
believe I had processed food andsugar and gluten. Like I didn't
think like that at all. It'slike I had it. I hair flipped
and I moved on. But if you butyour thoughts if you infuse
those negative thoughts aboutfood into that cake once a year,
like that is ridiculous. What awaste of time. If you're having
(42:21):
cake every day. Yeah, you got tohave a talk with yourself. Yeah,
you know, there's no there's nopoint for birthday cake every
week. Like that's a littleaggressive. But I do believe in
balance. But when you do havethose fun meals, I don't like to
call them cheat meals. I like tocall them fun meals because
words are powerful. Right? Enjoyyour fun meals, zero guilt and
move on.
Yeah, and we're just not taughtthat right? Like, right bad.
(42:44):
Yeah, good girl, bad girl goodfood, bad food, like the What a
joke. What a waste.
You know, I being a mother of a14 year old. The it's in her
file, the medical community isnot allowed to weigh her. We I
do not know what Julie weighs.
She doesn't know she couldn'ttell you. She's approximately
five foot eight. And duringCOVID We did a zoom in the
(43:07):
doctor asked her what sheweighed. And she goes, Oh, we
don't get on scales in my house.
Oh my god, I lie. I just for thefirst time at my physical
refused good. I was like, I wasreally worked up about going in
to have it and I didn't wantthem to tell me what it was
compared to what it had been.
And I remember my sister waslike, you can just say no, I was
(43:30):
like just saying that did that.
And I remember very nervouslyyou know, I didn't want to get a
drop ball or it didn't fightwith the nurse knows, like, I
don't think I want to do that.
She was like, Okay,I gotta get less.
I think it's about like, youknow, I think it's about doing
the things that you know,nurture and nourish your body
(43:51):
consistently and having the funstuff part of your, you know,
monthly plan or whatever you youknow, it's in not being attached
to the number on the scale. Butlike if you're doing the things
that you know, are good for yourbody, like having healthy
relationships, exercising,sleep, drinking your water
eating nutritionally sound ifyou're doing that for the most
part, consistently. It's like,who cares? What way if you riled
(44:15):
you know what I mean? Like, ifyou're feeling good, it's a nice
reference point. Like sometimeswe need that check in to be
like, okay, smart enough, youknow, right. But like, we don't
need to be obsessed with thescale and
try like, yeah, I tell everyonejust do your best. I'm an
overweight woman. And I lovethis body. And you know, 50
pounds could come off, and itmight not, but I'm still going
(44:40):
to feel the same way about thewoman in Walmart, whether I'm 50
right back like she cannot feelmy pain.
So plus, it's, it's also a goodidea to think of it in terms of
when you're not talking aboutlike nutritional response
testing some food that'sirritating you is, you know,
think of it as adding things ininstead of getting off the
(45:03):
subtraction to add some fruitsand vegetables six seven
servings and then go from thereinstead of this place of always
deprivation and right youshouldn't because when we
deprive we binge while we can'thave every cell in your body
wants you to eat because ya haveto do to survive
rule and makeup you know add donot remove.
(45:24):
Oh I like thatI know your makeup artist yeah
yeah if you mess up thateyeliner you just add yeah not
removed.
Yeah, little chat I never heardanyone.
Look what it's done for Adele,right? Yeah.
She was amazing. Last Isaw her last night. Gorgeous. Oh

She was amazing. The bodychills.
She is outstanding. She had theearrings on it looked like a
