#86: Have you ever raised your hand to serve in church, only to feel exhausted, frustrated, or even a little bit bitter afterward? You wanted to help. You wanted to make a difference. But somehow, it didn’t feel like joy—it felt like work. In this episode, we’re talking about why that happens and how to prevent it. I’m sharing why knowing your God-given motivational gift before you volunteer isn’t just a nice idea, it’s essential for serving from overflow instead of obligation.
We’ll explore real-life examples, uncover the difference between serving from your gift versus serving out of exhaustion, and I’ll give you a journaling prompt to help you reflect on your own design so your service can be sustainable, impactful, and joyful.
Let’s go to the show.

Heavenly Position System Challenge:
For this week’s Heavenly Position System Challenge, in your journal this week, ask:
Take some time to reflect on the ways you’ve served in the past year. Identify one area where you felt alive, stirred, or ignited by the work you were doing. Identify one area where you felt drained, frustrated, or overlooked.
Ask God to show you how your motivational gift aligns with your energy and effectiveness. Where could you serve next that would allow you to give from overflow rather than obligation?
Write down your observations, even the small ones.
