What Would It Look Like If Every Gift Was Thriving in the Church?

#85: Have you ever looked around your church—or even your small group—and thought, “Something’s missing here”? Maybe not in a critical way, but in a deeper, spiritual way. Like the body isn’t fully functioning, but you can’t quite name what part is out of alignment?

I think we’ve all felt that. I know I have.

And the more I’ve studied the motivational gifts from Romans 12, the more I believe this: We are not just individuals wired by God—we are members of a spiritual body that needs every gift functioning if we’re going to walk in power, unity, and purpose.

But what would that actually look like?

What if every motivational gift was seen, understood, and positioned within the church—not just to fill a role, but to thrive in their God-given design?

That’s what we’re going to talk about today. We’re going to explore what happens when each of the seven motivational gifts is allowed to show up in their fullness. We’ll look at Jesus’ ministry and how He modeled this, we’ll talk about what it could look like in a modern church setting, and we’ll even explore some out-of-the-box ideas that you may never have considered—but that just might unlock something new in how you view your own gift.

This episode isn’t about volunteering or team building. It’s about honoring the design of God. And when we honor that design, people come alive.

If my church was fully functioning with all seven gifts represented, what role would I be walking in? Am I already in that role… or am I hiding?

Then ask:Who around me may be walking in a gift I’ve overlooked or misjudged?

Let the Holy Spirit bring people to mind. Write down what you sense. And then, if you're led, affirm them. Call it out. Help them see it.

That small moment could be the spark that stirs their gift into action.
