It was prophesied of Jesus that He would be a comforting figure to all peoples. His comforting nature is undoubtedly easy to enjoy and appreciate. However, it was also prophesied (in the same text) that He would be a sword piercing through one’s very soul. In other words, there would be pain involved in following this Messiah. This piercing aspect of Jesus’ nature is much more challenging to process than that of His loving side. However, if we want to mature in our walk with Him, we must not only accept but embrace everything about Him, even if it is mysterious and piercing.
