Brian Plachta (00:02):
Welcome to
Spirituality on the Go, the
podcast where you can findsimple, practical tools to put
in your spiritual toolbox tohelp you find more inner calm,
connect with divine flow andexperience, clarity, purpose,
joy amidst life's busy moments.
(00:23):
As we enter the Easter season inthe Christian world, I invite
you to take a few moments toreflect with me on the cross,
not just as a symbol of faith orsomething that happened in the
past, but rather as a livingmetaphor for your own life.
So for a moment, picture thecross in your imagination, in
(00:47):
your mind.
Imagine the vertical plank, theone that's going up and down
that reaches upward and downwardbetween heaven and earth.
The vertical plank of the crossrepresents the sacred connection
between your human self and thedivine.
(01:09):
It is the reminder that you aremore than flesh and bone.
You are spirit.
You are soul, and you are deeplyconnected to God.
One with God, living in andthrough you.
This connection with the divinegrows stronger, not by doing
(01:32):
more, but by being still, bytaking time each day to listen
to your inner self, to embracethe sacred inner teacher that
speaks with love and wisdom toyou.
It is a whisper, a knowing deepwithin and these divine
(01:56):
whispers, they come to us toguide us with clarity in the
next steps in our lives.
They show you the way to peace,to joy, to wholeness.
That's the vertical up and downplank of the cross.
That connects you with heavenand earth, your human and divine
(02:20):
nature.
Now take a moment and imaginethe horizontal plank of the
cross, a long piece of wood thatstretches like your arms
stretching outward.
This horizontal plank of thecross is the place of
(02:42):
relationship with others andwith all of creation.
It's here in the messiness andbeauty of everyday life that
you're invited to live thehorizontal plank of the cross to
practice patience, to extendgrace, to learn what it means to
(03:04):
be human.
And to love unconditionally evenwhen it's hard.
Now, imagine the center of thecross where these two beams
meet.
The center is the Christ spacewithin you, the cosmic Christ
dwelling within you, fullyhuman, fully divine.
(03:31):
Christ stands at theintersection of heaven and
earth.
In his human life, Jesus modeledfor us how to live love, how to
pray, how to serve, how toforgive, and how to die, and
then rise again.
So just imagine this verticalcross, up and down that connects
(03:56):
you, your human and divinenature.
And then the horizontal cross, the plank that extends to all
the relationships you have onthis physical earth with people
and all of creation.
And then imagine the center ofthat cross there within your
(04:17):
chest, within your heart andsoul.
That's the Christ Center, thecircle of love that lives and
breathes within your soul asdivine love.
Let's take a few moments now, ifyou would, to enter into a short
(04:38):
guided meditation to help youexperience more deeply the cross
is a metaphor for your life.
Let's begin.
Find a safe place for you to sitin the quiet for a few moments.
(04:59):
And when you're ready, justclose your eyes, turn your
awareness inward.
Take a deep breath in, and thenslowly let it out.
And feel your feet on theground.
Feel your body supported by theearth.
(05:23):
Allow yourself to arrive in thismoment to be here, present now.
Now imagine the vertical beam ofthe cross, the one that goes up
and down between heaven andearth.
(05:43):
Feel that beam running throughyour body from the crown of your
head through your heart down toyour feet and into the earth.
This is your connection to God,to Source, to love.
(06:06):
In the stillness.
Listen.
In the stillness, do you hearthe whisper of the divine
offering you a word or a phrase,a message to take into your day?
(06:32):
Is there a whisper of gentleguidance that you hear offering
you in the silence?
Next.
Imagine the horizontal beamextending out from your
shoulders.
(06:54):
Feel your arms open wide.
This is your connection to theworld, to other people, to all
of creation and the physicalworld.
As you imagine your arms wideopen, extending outward, ponder
this question (07:19):
Who or what are
you being invited to love today?
How might you bring compassion, forgiveness, or kindness to
someone in your life today?
(07:43):
Just let God bring to mindsomeone with whom God is
inviting you to love ever moredeeply today.
And now, feel the intersection, the center of your chest, your
(08:05):
heart, your soul space, yourheart.
The center of your chest is thesacred meeting place where
Heaven and earth meet, whereChrist, the cosmic Christ lives
within you as divine love, divine guidance.
(08:27):
Breathe into that deep spacewithin your soul, within your
heart, and feel yourselfconnected on the inside, the
oneness of love, divine lovewithin you as you are one with
(08:49):
the spirit of God.
Let yourself just rest there fora few moments, And when you're
ready, open your eyes.
Allow yourself to come back tothis place where you're sitting.
(09:13):
And as you go through your day, remember this, you are
connected, you are loved, youare being guided, and you are
called to live the law of love:
to love God, love yourself, and (09:25):
undefined
love others.
You are the divine essence ofGod's love in your human form;
the Beloved.
Allow the intersection of thecross, the vertical between
(09:52):
heaven and earth, your human anddivine nature, the horizontal
extending from your heart spaceout to the relationships in your
life, and the center there inyour chest where divine love
resides in you as the HolySpirit, leading you, guiding
you, reminding you (10:13):
you are
love, you are loved.
Thank you for joining me on thisepisode of Spirituality on the
Go.
If this reflection spoke to you,I'd invite you to feel free to
share it with someone you love.
Until next time, may you walk inthe Divine Flow of God's love
(10:40):
here and now.
