Send me a text. What spoke to you in this episode?

Ever feel like there’s a loud, dramatic voice in your head narrating your every move? Same here. I call mine Henry—my inner critic, my false self, my over-caffeinated ego.

In this episode, you’ll learn how to spot your “Henry,” get curious about his chatter, and gently reconnect with your calm, grounded True Self—the part of you rooted in God’s love.

Plus, it includes a guided meditation to help you quiet the noise, hear the Spirit’s whisper, and walk through your day with more clarity and compassion.

If you’re craving more peace, less pressure, and a little humor along the way… this one’s for you.

Let’s take a deep breath and begin!

Brian Plachta (00:01):
Welcome to Spirituality on the Go.
Today we're gonna enter into afun conversation between your
True Self and your false self.
I'll give you a little bit ofbackground, and then I'll walk
you through a guided meditationso you can have a loving
conversation with your innerself, that True Self and your
false self.

(00:23):
To begin with, have you everfelt like there's a noisy voice
in your head?
It's constantly judging you, comparing you, trying to run the
show, and being in control.
I call that noisy voice in myhead, Henry.
Maybe you've met your noisyvoice in your head too.
Someone like Henry.

(00:44):
Henry's my false self, alsoknown as the false ego.
He's the part of us shaped byfear, perfectionism, and the
need to prove or protectourselves.
That false self is built fromhalf truths and old wounds.
The false self, the false ego, whispers things like: you're not

(01:07):
good enough, or you should bemore like that person, or maybe
what they're saying about you istrue.
You are not good.
It may even say you're bad.
It's not our truest identity,though.
But it often tries to take thelead in those voices in our

(01:28):
head.
But beneath the noise of ourfalse self, lives something,
another voice that's deeper andtruer than that, and that's your
True Self.
The True Self is who you reallyare.
The person God made you in God'simage and likeness.

(01:50):
The True Self is rooted in love, grounded in peace.
The True Self listens for thatstill small voice of the Holy
Spirit.
The Holy Spirit within us thatgently speaks truth to us,

(02:11):
reminds us that we're one withGod and we're already held,
already loved.
We're already enough, just as weare.
In the guided meditation thatfollows that you're invited to
join me with, I'll invite Henrymy false ego, my false self in,

(02:31):
not to argue or shame him, butto see Henry, my false ego with
compassion.
I invite you to find a name foryour false ego, just to make him
a little less threatening, alittle more fun.
And in this guided meditation, wherever I use the word Henry,

(02:54):
feel free to insert your namefor your false ego.
And in the guided meditation, wewill then reconnect with the
calm, steady voice, the presenceof our True Self, so we can open
our hearts to God's gentlewhisper.
So let's take a few breaths.

(03:16):
If you would find a quiet space,a safe place where you can be in
solitude for next couple ofminutes.
A;low yourself to just rest inthe present moment and let's
begin a conversation between allthe parts of you, the parts of
you that are held in love.

(03:41):
As you sit there, getcomfortable.
Perhaps if you'd like, closeyour eyes or soften your gaze
and take a few deep cleansingbreaths.
Breathe in and breathe out.

(04:07):
Breathe in and breathe out.
Let your breath draw you intothis present moment.
Allow your focus on the breath, the spirit of God within you, to
allow your mind to quiet andsink into your heart space.

(04:33):
Maybe feel your feet on theground to ground yourself in the
earth.
The same earth that Christ andthe saints and so many wise men
and women have walked, the sameearth that you and I walk on.
Feel yourself held by the chairyou're sitting in.

(04:57):
Feel your body connected to theearth, connected to God.
And maybe softly whisper toyourself,"here I am Lord, all of
me, my True Self and my falseself.

(05:18):
Even the parts of myself I don'tunderstand.
I just bring them here and nowto you." And next picture, your
Henry, your inner false self.
Imagine what does he look liketoday?

(05:38):
Is your inner false selfanxious, critical, controlling,
afraid?
Let your inner Henry show upwithout judgment.
Just notice that false selfpresent as part of you, part of

(06:00):
your human being.
Now as you imagine what yourfalse self looks like, maybe
give him a name.
Who would you call your falseself?
What does he look like?

(06:21):
What is your false self sayingto you in this moment?
What words in the back of yourhead, in the back of your mind,
does your false self say to you?
It might be something like,"you're always behind the eight

(06:41):
ball.
You should do better.
You're not good enough.
You are what everybody says youare." Whatever noise you hear in
your head, just recognize that'syour false self.
For me, it's Henry showing up,gibber jabbing at me, like an

(07:03):
inner critic.
Those voices in my head thatwon't be quiet.
And then gently, lovingly say toyour false self, I see you,"I
hear you, but you're not incharge today.

(07:25):
I'm gonna love you.
No matter what.
I know you're there.
I know you are trying to protectme to guard me, but you're not
truth." And then imagine yourTrue Self, the part of you

(07:46):
that's rooted in God's love, thepart of you that feels whole,
calm wise.
Where do you feel your True Selfthere in your body?
It might be in your heart space.

(08:07):
It might be in your gut, yourstomach.
It might be in your whole body.
Just a feeling of flow, of love,of peace.
Just let yourself rest in yourTrue Self, your divine image

(08:28):
made in the image and likenessof God who is pure love.
Invite your True Self now tospeak.
Let it say what it needs to say.

(08:49):
Let your True Self respond toHenry, your false self, in a
loving conversation withkindness and clarity.
You might hear your True Self, your voice of love say,"we don't
have to hustle to be loved.
Henry, we're safe.

(09:13):
We enough?
How about we walk with trusttoday?
Henry, how about youjust letyourself be loved, by me, your
True Self and God?
Let the voice of your True Self, the voice of love, sink into

(09:36):
your body like sunlight on yourskin.
Just feel the love of your TrueSelf.
Embracing, loving, caring forHenry your false self.

(09:57):
Next, turn your focus on God.
Ask God to speak to you in thatdivine, holy whisper of wisdom
and love.
Maybe ask God,"god, what do youwant me to know right now?

(10:19):
What are you inviting me to?
Understand, how are you invitingme this false self and True Self
within me?
How are you inviting me togrow?" Listen with the ear of

(10:41):
your heart.
Just be open to whatever youexperience from the God of love
who is always there with you andhere with you now.
If something arises, an image, aword, a phrase, a feeling,

(11:06):
receive it as gift from theCreator as a gentle grace that
your heart is speaking to youwith God's whisper in you.

(11:26):
Maybe feel within your body, your false self, your True Self,
and God, they're joined with onein one within you.
This amazing being you, humanand divine one with God.

(11:53):
Allow your True Self to thankGod and your false self for
showing up, for allowing you tobe vulnerable and honest with
yourself.
And then perhaps focus ongratitude.

(12:14):
Thanking God for loving you, allof you, even your Henry.
And maybe say to God,"God, helpme walk today, step by sacred
step, from the heart of love.
Help me know when it's my falsevoice that's speaking to me,

(12:36):
that inner critic, that you'reno good voice.
You need to do this or that, youshould be better.
You're not enough." Let me knowwhen that's my false self
speaking to me, and then let meturn to my True Self, the voice
of love within me.

(12:57):
The voice of truth that knows Iam made in the image and
likeness of God, and say here Isit my True Self and my false
self, one with you, God, thatyou love.
Whenever I forget who I am,whenever I pick up those masks

(13:19):
that other people have told methat aren't true, or I tell
myself things that are lies thataren't true, bring me back,
Lord.
Bring me back to you to my TrueSelf.
And let me love Henry as youlove all of me.

(13:44):
Now is you get ready to end thismeditation.
Just take one more breath.
Feel the breath of God, the HolySpirit flowing within your body.
And when you're ready, gentlyopen your eyes, put a little

(14:04):
smile on your face and knowyou're home.
You're already home.
Home is your inner self lovedand guided, embraced by the God
who created you, the God thatloves all of you, your false

(14:29):
self, and your True Self, andwho is continuing to invite you
to live from your truest selfHome.
You are home.
Home is where your heart iswithin you.

(14:52):
Rest be.
Allow yourself to embrace all ofyou.
And after you finish this guidedmeditation, you might want to
journal a couple of things, somequestions you might want to

(15:14):
journal about.
Things like, what did my falseself say to me today?
How did my True Self respond?
What word or invitation did Ireceive from God?
And how can I walk from my hearttoday?

(15:38):
Thank you for showing up todayfor this podcast, for this
guided meditation.
For showing up for yourself, your True Self and your false
self held and embraced by God.
May you continue to live in thedivine flow of God's amazing
grace.
