Mister Jansen, Good morning, sir.
Speaker 4 (01:35):
Good morning. How are we doing, guys? How are we doing?
Speaker 3 (01:38):
It's week zero, It's week zero, So we're ready to
hear some of your selections for week zero, and then
we'll get in a little baseball and we'll debate your
selections because we question in advance if you have any
idea what you're talking about.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
I do not.
Speaker 4 (01:56):
So let's let's get that out of the way right now.
Speaker 3 (02:00):
Let's go football first, Johnny, I bet this Kansas State
in Dublin at noon minus three and a half at
bet Park's over Iowa State, top twenty five matchup in
the Big Twelve.
Speaker 5 (02:12):
Yeah, this one has college football playoff implications because I
think these are two of the top teams in.
Speaker 4 (02:17):
The Big twelve.
Speaker 5 (02:18):
I know Arizona State is looked at because of what
they did last year to be that team, but I
think they're actually going to lose a lot with Cam
Skataboo and the running games is not gonna look the
same as it did. So that's really up to Sam
Levitt the quarterback, to kind of elevate his game.
Speaker 4 (02:32):
But I don't think he's that good. To me, they're
like an eight nine with Tea.
Speaker 5 (02:35):
I say he's not that good, but not good enough
to elevate the way they need him. So really it
comes down to I would say Kansas State for me.
Two great quarterbacks in Rockebec for the Cyclones and the
Wildcats with Avery Johnson. Campas State's lost a lot on
offense and defense, so they're trying to get some production
back from last year, or at least try and elevate
(02:57):
their production from last year. They only scored thirty points
per game, which is down from their previous year.
Speaker 4 (03:02):
So we'll see Abray Johnson.
Speaker 5 (03:04):
It was his first year starting in a second year
starting now, he could be better. But I'm actually looking
at Iowa State. They have to replace Jaydon and Higgins
and Jaleen Nowell. They're two wide receivers on the offensive side,
but they bring in Jase Soul from East Carolina and
a couple of other transfers. I just think this is
gonna be a really rock solid showing from Iowa State's
offense and just Iowa State in general. So I'm going
(03:24):
with the Cyclones here. A bit of an underdog at
three and a half, but I like them to win
this outright, So I'm taking them on the money line.
Speaker 3 (03:31):
David, you got a thought on Iowa State Kansas State
today in the opener Week zero.
Speaker 6 (03:37):
I mean, I'm excited to have college football back. Just
had to say that. I mean, the weather's starting to
feel like it as well. But yeah, I'll go with
John here. With the offense of Iowa State, I mean,
this is gonna be a really good contest, you know,
as John said there as well.
Speaker 2 (03:49):
We'll see how Kansastate does.
Speaker 6 (03:50):
It's gonna be a big year for them, but I'm
gonna go with Iowa State in their offense.
Speaker 7 (03:53):
Mike, I think betting week zero or even week one
sometimes just hazardous to my health.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
But most of the things.
Speaker 7 (04:01):
I've been reading trying to find out about people seem
to like Kansas State for whatever reasons.
Speaker 2 (04:09):
I don't.
Speaker 7 (04:09):
I think these, as John said, these are probably two
of the better teams in the Big twelve.
Speaker 2 (04:14):
Top twenty five match.
Speaker 7 (04:16):
Although last year the team that was picked to finish
last when it won the conference. Ye, so these two
teams maybe could both make it to the title game.
I don't The Big twelve is one of those conferences
you just seem to have a tough time.
Speaker 3 (04:28):
Can anybody name the teams at the Big Twelve? I mean,
that's the hardest part about it sports, It really is, John.
Can you let's try, John without looking let me hear it.
Speaker 5 (04:40):
I don't know if I can name all the teams.
I might need to ask Nick maclay for help. Who
knows more college football than.
Speaker 4 (04:46):
Even I do.
Speaker 5 (04:47):
He is very good on the board there. But yeah,
but what do we got Toincinnati?
Speaker 4 (04:50):
Houston?
Speaker 5 (04:51):
Cincinnati, Houston, UCF, Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa State.
Speaker 4 (05:00):
Who are we missing Colorado? I know I'm missing a
lot there.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
Utah yeah, Utah, yep Utah, Arizona.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
Yepe, Arizona State b yu.
Speaker 4 (05:15):
Yu yeah.
Speaker 3 (05:16):
I always forget what neck are we closed?
Speaker 2 (05:18):
Do we have them all there?
Speaker 8 (05:19):
I think we got Texas Tech two Texas.
Speaker 2 (05:24):
We forget, what are we doing. But yeah, I mean
it's Virginia. Maybe no he said West Virginia. Did I
said West Virginia? Did he say West Virginia? I thought
he did. I thought he did too.
Speaker 5 (05:34):
But I will not forget about the Red Raiders this year.
By the way, keep keep an eye on them, the
Red Raider.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
I here one other league.
Speaker 3 (05:40):
Everybody has the name Mike, you're not involved in this
PAC twelve?
Speaker 2 (05:45):
Who can name the john.
Speaker 4 (05:49):
Exists? No, it shouldn't take it around h Yeah, well
I know Oregon State and Washington State.
Speaker 3 (05:56):
That's the league right now.
Speaker 7 (06:00):
They're going to play each other twelve times. New members
next year, including Gonzaga.
Speaker 4 (06:04):
Next year, right next year?
Speaker 2 (06:06):
Next year.
Speaker 3 (06:07):
Yeah, I'm gonna look up the Big twelve here and
see see what I see? How close we came to
the actual league.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
Well, yeah, the Big ten ones go to like twenty
four teams that night.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
As year we forgot Baylor b White, like the Cincinnati, Colorado, Houston,
Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
That we name them, I don't think so. I don't
think TCU. We definitely didn't name t ucf Utah and
West Virginia. How we took four six eight, ten, twelve, fourteen,
sixty sixteen, crazy six year.
Speaker 4 (06:42):
What do you get to the major conferences? Like the
Big Three?
Speaker 2 (06:45):
Like that?
Speaker 4 (06:45):
They're a wait of many teams at East Conference, It's
it's hard, all right.
Speaker 3 (06:49):
I gonna say, let's let's since we're into week zero,
let's let's see if we can do. I'm gonna pull
it up. Can we do the sec? Who wants to start?
Speaker 4 (07:03):
It would take the whole segment?
Speaker 2 (07:05):
What are sixteen teams to?
Speaker 1 (07:07):
Right?
Speaker 4 (07:08):
Yeah, there's like I think we're close to twenty.
Speaker 2 (07:11):
Yeah, there we go. You ready?
Speaker 3 (07:14):
Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky. These are all Stampon's
l s U Mississippi State. They've been in the league forever.
Here's where it starts to get complicated. Missouri, Oklahoma in Mississippi,
South Carolina, Tennessee five, Texas, A and M Texas and Vanderbilt
coming off.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
Did you see their new stadium? How about Vanderbilt? I
mean it's commodore.
Speaker 7 (07:37):
Hey they beat Bama issuear yes they did, they had
one of their great Missouri has been in that league
for like a thosand years. Yeah, it's I know, it's
you know we say Missouri, but yeah, they've been in
it for a while.
Speaker 5 (07:46):
All that. Yeah, Diego is back for another year, so vandyke.
Speaker 2 (07:51):
My man, All right, here we go, Here we go.
Speaker 3 (07:54):
We're have some fun here a CC ready, Temple, Boston College,
Cal Clemson to Florida State, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Miami, North
Carolina State, North Carolina, Pittsburgh, s m U, Stanford, Sarah Can,
Virginia Tech, and Wake For what is.
Speaker 4 (08:16):
Atlantic Coastal Conference members?
Speaker 5 (08:19):
Cal and Stanford in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Speaker 7 (08:24):
Makes sense to me. I got a segue for you. Okay,
Stanford is at Hawaii with coach who's the former regal coordinator, Frank.
Speaker 3 (08:37):
Frank, the interim heads getting two and a half.
Speaker 7 (08:42):
Do you know that in each of the last four
years Stanford has won three games?
Speaker 2 (08:47):
Yeah, they've been That's Temple and Stanford used to be.
Speaker 7 (08:52):
Remember there was a time when Stanford was really good.
Speaker 2 (08:55):
Yeah, like when l Way was there and recently when
Luck was there and then you took over. Shaw did
a good job.
Speaker 3 (09:01):
Andrew Luck is now the general manager of Stanford football.
Speaker 2 (09:05):
I think I'm liking Hawaii's in that game.
Speaker 4 (09:09):
I think I like the Rainbow Warriors.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
I think Warriors minus two.
Speaker 7 (09:13):
That game is seven thirty tonight, Timmy, Timmy Chang's got
to start winning some games.
Speaker 2 (09:18):
You're getting a little disgruntled with Timmy. No, they are. Yeah,
he's the head coach.
Speaker 4 (09:23):
Now, yeah he had that.
Speaker 5 (09:24):
That was a that was a brutal program when they
when he took over, so.
Speaker 7 (09:29):
Be it and they lost three games by total of
eight points last year.
Speaker 3 (09:33):
Can you name a player on either team? And I
know you know more Timmy Chang, he's the coach.
Speaker 4 (09:41):
I used to know. I haven't. I didn't dive deep
into Hawaii, Nick.
Speaker 2 (09:45):
You got me. No, I got no names on either
of these. You got nothing.
Speaker 7 (09:50):
Nobody nobody from East Carolina transferred to Hawaii.
Speaker 4 (09:54):
No, No, I don't think so. I don't think.
Speaker 2 (09:58):
Just the refresher course, big ten. Everybody ready write this down?
Speaker 3 (10:02):
Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan State, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern,
Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, Purdue, Rutgers, UCLA, USC Washington,
and Wisconsin.
Speaker 2 (10:17):
I mean, who could keep up with this madness? I can't.
Speaker 3 (10:20):
It's it's it's complete. In Santurday, John, there's a couple
other games on the list today. I'll just throw them
out there. UNLV minus twenty seven against Idaho State apparently
they're not very good. And Kansas at home minus thirteen
and a half against Fresno. That game is at six thirty.
I love Fresno in that game. That's my best bet
of the week.
Speaker 2 (10:39):
John, You're gonna think you.
Speaker 4 (10:40):
Know quarterback games for the President of State Bulldogs.
Speaker 2 (10:44):
I don't. Oh, it's the Temple guy. Now, where is he?
Where do you go?
Speaker 4 (10:48):
It is E J. Warrier.
Speaker 3 (10:50):
He is the guy at Fresnoday. All right, all right,
That's why I love Fresnoe. I've always looked that.
Speaker 4 (10:57):
That's why I love Kansas. He did what he did
a good job.
Speaker 5 (11:03):
I think he was said rice in his last up
and he actually put up some decent numbers. But President
State is a new head coach, lost a lot of
players on defense, and they lost to think, like seven
to eight starters on defense, and Kansas trying to rejuvenate
their offense. Last year was a bit of a down year.
Jalen Daniels a good two years ago. Last year did
not look as great. But I actually think with last
(11:25):
Leopold he's a great coach. Uh it's gonna be a
bit more of an up year for Kansas. I think
they they kind of do a little bit better than
they were five to seven last year.
Speaker 4 (11:33):
I think they make a Bowl game this year.
Speaker 1 (11:35):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (11:35):
So give me Kansas to put up some points on
a Fresno State defense.
Speaker 4 (11:38):
It's really trying to figure itself out early.
Speaker 2 (11:40):
Name name a player for Kansas, not Wilt Chamberlain or.
Speaker 4 (11:44):
Danny made Uh.
Speaker 5 (11:46):
Well, I do know Jalen Daniels. He is the quarterback
there wait Kansas in basketball.
Speaker 4 (11:51):
Or no football and football like.
Speaker 2 (11:55):
A former player player on this team right now?
Speaker 5 (12:00):
Your Nick, I did know Daniels and Devil, but Devin
Neil's uh he moved on to the.
Speaker 2 (12:05):
Draft not playing.
Speaker 4 (12:07):
He's out.
Speaker 8 (12:10):
I'm playing, Nick, Do you know anybody on Kansas just
Jayalen Daniels just because he's been there for God there.
Speaker 2 (12:20):
For six years.
Speaker 4 (12:23):
Kansas has been there for a long time.
Speaker 3 (12:25):
Yes, he has any opinion on any of these other games, David,
any thoughts on these week zero games U n L V.
Speaker 2 (12:32):
Kansas. So I whatever, Honestly, now I have to do.
I do a little bit more researcher.
Speaker 6 (12:38):
I give you I'll give you some picks there, but
I'm definitely gonna pay a close enttion to the Kansas
State later week.
Speaker 4 (12:45):
Zero zero is.
Speaker 2 (12:49):
We're not sick here?
Speaker 3 (12:50):
Are you serious? Since we won't be on till next
Saturday morning, here's some Friday games, uh for you, Mike
Current Auburn minus two and a half at Baylor and
Georgia Tech minus four at Colorado at eight o'clock on
Friday night. Dion without without his son, without Hunter or
(13:13):
without I don't know what they know.
Speaker 2 (13:14):
My opinion is I want to see somebody play before.
I'm pretty before you're putting money on the line on
general principle.
Speaker 7 (13:21):
And I don't know you would think Auburn should be
able to beat Baylor, but you know what's Auburn done
for me lately? I mean, you know there's a reason why, right,
there's a reason why they're only favored by two and
a half sec.
Speaker 2 (13:35):
Big twelve game, huge and.
Speaker 5 (13:37):
Yeah, and I'm just I don't know about Jackson Arnold,
who is a transfer, was at Oklahoma big time a cruit.
Speaker 4 (13:43):
I transferred over to Auburn, like I he looked not
great at Oklahoma.
Speaker 5 (13:48):
And now there's a lot that could be said about
their offensive line and just weapons overhauled. It wasn't a
great offense, but I think a lot of the problems
do kind of stem from him, and I don't know
if it's really going to get fixed in Auburn, where
they also deal with some problems well on the offensive side.
Speaker 2 (14:03):
A great job at John John who I thought it was,
but I wasn't sure. You Freeze is there right? Yeah?
Speaker 7 (14:11):
A little bit of a bandit a little bit you
suggest a little bit.
Speaker 2 (14:19):
Are suggesting a success that all this was due to something.
Recruiting good student athletes.
Speaker 5 (14:26):
Also, Colorado, I actually think could played pretty well this
year despite a lot of a lot of pieces missing.
I just think Deon Anders is a good coach. They
do bring in Kayden Slater, Kayden Salter, excuse me, who's
got some talent?
Speaker 4 (14:39):
Comes in from Liberty.
Speaker 5 (14:40):
But the problem is for their Week one game is
Georgia Tech brings back a lot of great players. The
Yellow Jackets are loaded on offense. It all starts with
Haines King and Jamal Haynes uh two really big, two
good speechers out of the backfield. King is the quarterback,
but I think he was a track athlete back in high.
Speaker 4 (14:58):
School, so he's got a lot of speed.
Speaker 5 (15:00):
He's been really great with Georgia Tech and they've had
a great running offense for the past two years and
I think that's just going to continue.
Speaker 4 (15:06):
They should run all over Colorado. So Georgia Tech.
Speaker 5 (15:08):
To me is a bit of a sleeper team when
it comes to the ACC. I know Louisville and Clemson
really just Clemson on the two talked about teams, and
Clemson is probably the overwhelming favorite, and I think they
should be. But Georgia Tech to me could be a
sleeper at the a SEC.
Speaker 3 (15:22):
Yeah, that game, I believe is it's next Friday night
at eight o'clock, and I believe it's a fussome field
and Boulder, which is one of the great settings in
college sports.
Speaker 2 (15:30):
Unless it's a neutral.
Speaker 5 (15:31):
Game, you skip a great Thursday game, a great rivalry
match up between the East Carolina Pirates and North Carolina
State wook Pack.
Speaker 2 (15:39):
How could I forget?
Speaker 4 (15:41):
How can you forget it?
Speaker 3 (15:42):
Does your squad have anything? Are they ever going to
win another game?
Speaker 5 (15:47):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (15:47):
Well, they stuctual bowl game. They beat NCCA the bowl
game last year. They they finished low. I think they
were eight and five last year, So the Pirates were okay.
Speaker 2 (15:57):
So that's the range game for inc States.
Speaker 5 (16:00):
That's what Yes, that's the problem I'm having is the
revenge game. NC State Dave Jordan, I think are looking
to have a bit of a better year than they
did last year. ECU loses a lot of skilled players
that they that they had last year. They were very
good for them. Roger Harris has moved on, he was
a senior last year, a couple of transfers from wide receiver.
(16:20):
They do have a couple of good ones. Anthony Smith
I think his name is tall, quick guy, so a
really good vertical threat. But it's going to be tough
to replace a lot of that production. So I actually
kind of like the wolf Pack. Get the eleven and
a half.
Speaker 3 (16:32):
Yeah, minus eleven and a half for the wolf Pack.
Seven o'clock ACC Network, Thursday night. Don't don't miss it.
We'll go through this quickly and then we'll get into
some baseball picks from John next Saturday, Week one, obviously,
the big game Ohio State number three minus two and
a half at home against number one Texas Alabama minus
fourteen at bet Parks against Florida State. I believe that
(16:53):
game is in Atlanta. I believe that's correct. Penn State
minus forty four and a half against Nevada, that's a
three thirty star time. Next Saturday, Temple minus two and
a half at U mass and then that night taking.
Speaker 4 (17:09):
What a riveting week one game like that? That to
me is what college football is all about.
Speaker 5 (17:15):
Fighting out for the bottom of college football. I just
I love it that that's the game to.
Speaker 3 (17:18):
Be absolutely Saturday night Clemson minus four l s U.
Speaker 2 (17:23):
That's a seven thirty start.
Speaker 3 (17:25):
Then Sunday, how about this game Notre Dame minus two
and a half in Miami on Sunday.
Speaker 2 (17:30):
Yeah, well, no, I.
Speaker 5 (17:32):
Am all on the fighting Irish. Give me the fighting Irish,
give me the fighting.
Speaker 2 (17:36):
And clentson line went up a little bit, John, And
then how about this game?
Speaker 5 (17:42):
Didn't talk about a lot?
Speaker 3 (17:43):
Yeaheah, Monday Night football next week TCU minus three and
a half at North Carolina. The debut the Belichick Zill
Belichick coaching college What do you think about this whole thing?
Speaker 4 (17:58):
Is?
Speaker 2 (17:58):
What is up with this?
Speaker 6 (18:00):
It is?
Speaker 5 (18:00):
It is fascinating Belichick. He is he is definitely trying
to take advantage of the fact that he This is
not an NFL like professional environment. This is not an
owner that is trying to tell him what to do.
Speaker 4 (18:15):
This is his show.
Speaker 5 (18:16):
North Carolina made him the largest paid public public employee
of any school in that state, and he is going
to basically have like just say on anything, he can
do whatever he wants.
Speaker 6 (18:28):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (18:28):
And I just think it's it's gonna end up being
a disaster just because it feels like he's trying to
prove a point in a point in his career where
I don't think he has a point to prove. So
it's just it's gonna be It's gonna be a mess.
I think it North Carolina, honestly, So I think Week
one is gonna be the start of that disaster. And
give me TCU the horn, Frost, I think.
Speaker 7 (18:46):
When there's another way of looking at that, though, John,
I understand exactly what you're saying. But this is Bill
Belichick we're talking about, and I get it.
Speaker 2 (18:53):
This is Bill. This is old Bill Belichick.
Speaker 7 (18:55):
I think he can out coach a lot of the
guys he's going to be coaching now. I could be wrong,
but I used to see him out coach guys in
the NFL almost every week with his defense what he did.
So again, if he's even.
Speaker 5 (19:07):
Got bad New England teams, he out coached a lot,
If he's.
Speaker 7 (19:11):
Got even a little bit left in the tank, and
I'm assuming he's got fairly good assistance around him or whatever,
I'm not saying that, but I can see them being
like a decent team, like a six and six, seven
and five kind of team.
Speaker 2 (19:24):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (19:25):
My theory is he's stealing money on the way out
the door. Well that's David, but.
Speaker 4 (19:30):
All just depends on like how serious.
Speaker 5 (19:32):
I know he's probably gonna taket serious, but he's also
he's going on book tours. He did more interviews and
I think I've ever seen Bill Belichon do. It's it's
a little bit of a different kind of Bill than
we saw in New England. And so I just I'm
not sure if that discipline is going that we saw
in New England is going to work its way into college.
Speaker 2 (19:50):
I think he's a bet against until further notice.
Speaker 3 (19:53):
Yeah, David, any any of these college football in general,
David will be doing the Bulova games with a student
radio station again, going on a football, men's basketball, women's basketball,
any of these team slash games early on Stick out
to you Week one.
Speaker 2 (20:10):
I just went over the big ones.
Speaker 6 (20:11):
Well, I'll talk a little bit about Belichick really quick.
I agree with you know what you guys were talking about.
You're seeing a little bit more personality from Belichick, which
is something that I don't know if the Patriots intentionally
tried to.
Speaker 2 (20:21):
Keep you know closed he did, he did.
Speaker 6 (20:24):
I agree, So you're seeing definitely a little bit more personality.
But I really like, you know what Mike said about
you know, I mean, Bill Belichick is one of the
best coaches of all time. You could very well say
he is the best coach of all time, absolutely, and
I just think, you know, him against a lot of
these college coaches, I think that he has a really
good opportunity to take advantage there. But I think he's
also going to use this kind of I don't necessarily
want to say his legacy tour, but I think in
(20:46):
a way it kind of is, you know, it could
be you know, his last job, and you know, we'll
see kind of, you know, what happens after this, But
I think this is an opportunity for him to kind of,
you know, make a lot of money and kind of
show in a way his personality because I don't think
a lot of people have seen a lot of that,
and we'll see if he can make more money off
of it. So I think North Carolina is going to
start the season. We'll see it's still they do. But
(21:07):
I think, you know, when they match up a lot
of these teams earlier in the year, I think the
main question is is going to be but what does
Belichick do? And I think just in the early part
of the season, I think the Belichick and UNC could
start off the season hot, just because I think he
is kind of a mystery card in terms of, you know,
what is he going.
Speaker 2 (21:22):
To do with the college level.
Speaker 6 (21:24):
You know, people know his playbook with the Patriots, but
obviously a much different story in North Carolina. So I
think UNC could start the season hot just because of
the fact that it is somewhat of a mystery of
kind of Belichick's whole plan being down there in North Carolina.
Speaker 2 (21:36):
His reputation and Dick could be totally right.
Speaker 7 (21:41):
His reputation in the last three or four years right
has taken a hit. He's got six Super Bowl rings,
but people now, why you know he only won because
of breedy?
Speaker 2 (21:49):
Well, no, his defenses were pretty damn good.
Speaker 7 (21:51):
But I think he's got something to prove, even if
it's only to himself that I think the last thing
Bill wants to do was go to Carolina and go
three and nine. I just and again, he's not gonna
win the aces.
Speaker 3 (22:05):
North Carolina has a pretty good tradition of pretty good football.
It's not like they're just short, right, and they've had
some very good teams since I hate him.
Speaker 5 (22:12):
North Carol's guitar heels stink. Great players that never do
anything in college. They they never won anything. They don't
win anything ever.
Speaker 3 (22:20):
Did they beat the Carolina? Well, they win games, they
just don't win championship?
Speaker 7 (22:24):
Did they?
Speaker 2 (22:24):
Did they beat these.
Speaker 4 (22:25):
When I was there, they didn't beat East Carolina?
Speaker 2 (22:27):
I know that. That's awesome. Did you play him or no?
Speaker 6 (22:32):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (22:32):
Yeah, I actually was. I didn't personally play him. I
wasn't in the starting lineup that game, but I was.
Speaker 5 (22:39):
I was cheering in the stands uh in Chapel Hill
as East Carolina put up fifty five and beat the
tar Heels.
Speaker 4 (22:46):
I think that was fourteen thirteen or fourteen.
Speaker 2 (22:48):
So all right, John, we got to help.
Speaker 4 (22:50):
The one thing I do want to say real quick
about week one. That's bothering me.
Speaker 5 (22:54):
So everybody's talking about Texas and like they're inexperienced quarterback
arch Manning, who, by the way, like the year this
guy has like built his body, he's probably he's probably
more mentally ready to go than any quarterback. He's thrown
ninety something passing college football, which is more than the
other side that nobody's talking about. Julian Sen has thrown
(23:14):
twelve college passes? What about his inexperience? Why is nobody
talking about Ohio State losing their starting quarterback, their offensive coordinator,
their defensive coordinator. It's all about Well, arch Manning hasn't
played that much. Ohio States quarterback hasn't either, So like,
what's the difference?
Speaker 4 (23:33):
Taking Texas all day? Give me the long warns all day.
Speaker 2 (23:37):
What's the line on that game? Think Texas getting two
and a half?
Speaker 3 (23:40):
Yeah, Columbus without nobody said and there in Texas defense
is really good.
Speaker 4 (23:51):
Absolutely? I agree.
Speaker 3 (23:53):
Yeah, John, you got a couple of minutes off any
baseball for us today.
Speaker 5 (23:57):
I'm all college football though I got nothing I do that.
Speaker 4 (24:01):
Can I do a go Phils today?
Speaker 2 (24:03):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (24:03):
You can.
Speaker 3 (24:04):
Is anybody concerned about Duran proving that he's human. Last
night he blows the save in the night thning. David,
you're our baseball guy or you concerned?
Speaker 2 (24:12):
Not at all.
Speaker 6 (24:13):
I mean there was a point last night where I
was watching the game after he struck out Garcia for
the first out of the ninth where I really said,
I think it was one hundred mile power splitter again,
where I said, really, the Phillies should just put on
the scoreboard.
Speaker 2 (24:24):
Better luck next time.
Speaker 6 (24:25):
And Okay, I jinxed it, I guess, but you know,
in hindsight, if JT doesn't throw the ball down the
third base line, the Phillies probably get out of that
inning with the game tied and have a chance to
win it. Sure, because Duran came back there in a
big way. But I mean he wasn't going to be
you know, brad Ledge. I mean, you know, everybody's.
Speaker 2 (24:41):
Human, yep.
Speaker 6 (24:42):
I mean just being able to It's so hard to
believe that Duran, with one hundred and three mile hour
fastball one hundred mile power splitter, is the Phillies closer
of all teams, the Phillies closer. I mean, what have
we been through the last few years. I mean, like Kimbroll.
You know Corey Kinable a few years ago, Brandon Workman.
I mean, it's it's just been been brutal and he
is the Phillies closer. I think last night was just
(25:04):
just a fluke. And look, the Nationals are really pasky.
I mean, they beat the Mets in the series two
or three in DC. They spoke with the Phillies. I mean,
they're a really tough team.
Speaker 2 (25:12):
I know that.
Speaker 6 (25:13):
You know, when you look at the win and loss record,
you know they're not good. You know they're in the
bottom of the division. But they're a really good team.
And they have a lot of young talent. I mean,
James Wood is going to be a really really good player,
and you know they're they're pitching I think is going
to come along to Gore kind of struggled in the
second half over the last couple of weeks, but I
mean he's a really good pitcher as well. So they
have a lot of young talent. Nationals are gonna be
good in a couple of years.
Speaker 7 (25:33):
Thats suck and they will trade all those guys.
Speaker 2 (25:38):
Goes. That's what the Nats do.
Speaker 7 (25:41):
So just and the Phillies, and by the way, have
won forty like something like forty five in the last
sixty five against the Nets. So I don't want to
hear about the pesky knots wherever they steak, but they've
been lately whatever at high right, they're the Pirates. It's
(26:01):
just the Colorado Rockies. There the give me three more teams, John, Yeah, the.
Speaker 5 (26:07):
White Socks, White who one? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (26:13):
Interesting, all very interesting.
Speaker 5 (26:15):
I talk last night's ninth inning. That's that's just that's
just like it's a weird one. Uh. Like that David
mentioned it was a really weird play with real MutS
throwing it down the third base line. Just weird stuff
happens in baseball, and that that to me just felt
like one of them.
Speaker 3 (26:29):
Man, John, it's been great talking to you. We'll talk
to you next week. Week one. We won, We'll get
rid of pirates. There you go, John, Jason ol bet
