(01:49):

before we get to the NFL. The college Football Playoff
Championship game has been decided. It will be a week
from Monday the twentieth in Atlanta. Ohio State, which beat
Texas last night, will play Notre Dame minus nine and

(02:09):
a half had bat Parks the Buckeyes a big favorite.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
Buckeyes who covered all three. Notre Dame has.

Speaker 4 (02:16):
Covered every game all year except the game they lost.

Speaker 3 (02:20):
They've covered them all and you know what, and they're
getting nine and a half. U game doesn't matter.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
Irrelevant, it's irrelevant, totally Irrevan Michigan game is irrelevant, right.

Speaker 4 (02:30):
City, right Whoever wins this game, that will be irrelevancy.
Ohio State almost a touchdown in the field goal. Favorite
wasn't easy against Texas last night they win twenty one,
twenty eight fourteen.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
It was twenty one fourteen. Texas has first and gold.
The next thing you know, it's fourth of gold. Everybody
saw what happened, strip, sack, fumble, touchdown. Let's go back
to Thursday night. Terrific game, Penn State Notre Dame. A
lot of swings in the game. Penn State's up ten.

Speaker 4 (02:58):
Oh the Notre Dame's course seventeen n row that pens
they score fourteen in a row, and then Notre Dame
ties it and then you know, the only way you
didn't want the game to end or for either team
was drewe allers a pick and Notre Dame wents at
the buzzer on a field goal.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
Uh, Mike, first, what you think of the game. Uh,
we'll get to Ohio State and uh in Notre Dame
in a minute, But.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
What you think I've seen a game of that magnitude
have that many swings.

Speaker 3 (03:27):
At first, I'm like, okay, no name's got no shot, right, and.

Speaker 2 (03:30):
They're they're bringing their backup quarterback in right and that
was a big field goal obviously, because you go then
pen then not name.

Speaker 3 (03:36):
All of a sudden, I'm like, wow, Penn State's in
trouble here.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
Yeah, Then all of a sudden, I'm like and it
just kept going and and you know, of course the
people are going to I've I've heard it both ways.
Did Penn State make a mistake doing what they did?
Should they have just went into overtime? At the time,
I didn't have a big problem with it, But when
you go through a game, this is.

Speaker 3 (03:56):
What I find amazing.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
For a team who's playing in the semi finals, How
can you a whole game and not complete.

Speaker 3 (04:01):
A pass to a wide receiver that their wideouts are
not good? But then maybe you shouldn't have tried to
to I don't know.

Speaker 4 (04:07):
That's all that's on the quarterback right right, miss third
read and he just fourth made a mistake whatever read,
he made a mistake.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
But again, you hate to see it because overtime would
have I think it would have been really cool because
they I don't know who would have won it over
there both have no idea what would happen, and.

Speaker 5 (04:23):
Overtime at all, no, And that's that's one of the
few circumstances that I would have probably played for overtime
cause Penn State because of where you were on the field,
because I would have shorter fields and I know Drew
Aller doesn't have to do much. That's the problem is
when you know you have to go eighty yards in
what less than a.

Speaker 3 (04:39):
Money didn't have to go eat? Well, maybe it maybe
right right, go right, go where the field goes to go?
What for? Maybe that's still I don't like that. Maybe
the play was what did they do on first out?
They ran twelve yards? Not just run? Again?

Speaker 4 (04:51):
You have all your time outs, why not just run
see if you get anywhere.

Speaker 3 (04:55):
If you don't, then you know, get out of there.

Speaker 4 (04:57):
But yeah, the quarterback was having a rough day. The
whiteouts aren't very good. Uh, and they were obviously had
the whole team was covering the tight end.

Speaker 3 (05:05):
So it just made life, my life complicated.

Speaker 4 (05:08):
Having said all that, if the first touchdown of the
first field goal is a touchdown, which it should have been, right,
it was a bad pass and he should have caught it.

Speaker 3 (05:17):
Anyway, Uh, you know it's they're up fourteen nothing instead
of ten nothing. Oh, they they had the game won
in the first half.

Speaker 5 (05:23):
Did they make a couple of plays more, Yeah, they
win that.

Speaker 3 (05:27):
They were they were in a good spot.

Speaker 4 (05:28):
So it taking the whole game as a whole forgetting
the last interception, which obviously was the decider. I found
there was one moment in the game that changed the
whole game. I'm curious if you guys come up at
the same moment I did, Mike, was there a moment
that you saw that said, man, Well, if it happened
the other way, this game flips to the top of
my head, I'm gonna no, Johnny, you remember wanting it up?

(05:50):
I remember one specific play that would have changed the
whole game.

Speaker 3 (05:55):
Did it to stop on a like a third down?

Speaker 4 (05:57):
So it's ten to nothing, the quarterbackets are. They bring
in the backup. He gets stripsacked and Abdall Carter has
the ball. I have no idea what happened because they
never showed it. I said, Penn State ball. I still
think it's Penn State ball. I don't know what happened
because they never showed a replay. They didn't even talk

(06:17):
about it. Yeah, somehow, I guess at the bottom of
the ball, the under dame guy got the ball. But
if Penn State gets that fumble, they don't get the
field goal, and Penn State maybe scores again and again
is probably over.

Speaker 5 (06:30):
But again they probably had an opportunity to score. And
and the thing is, even before that, Nick Singleton won.

Speaker 1 (06:37):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (06:37):
I know there was a holding penalty that got them
in position, but still Drowler missed a couple of throws
as well that could have very easily that that holding
penalty that got them a first down and the goal
line I could have easily been a touchdown because because
there was a there was a throw to be made there,
and he made the worst possible throw.

Speaker 3 (06:53):
He just threw it up.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
That's all he did was.

Speaker 3 (06:57):
And he threw He threw three in or something. And
I feel bad for the kid.

Speaker 5 (07:02):
He does have this terrible thing that I don't like
in a quarterback, and especially like if we talk about
next level with him, when everything goes extremely right and
he can see it and it's there, he knows exactly
what he's doing. This kid has the arm town to
do anything he wants. The problem is the second that
doesn't get there, he panics big time and he has

(07:23):
no idea where he's going. That was a panic. What
he did at the end. He looked at his first read,
wasn't there. I don't even think he looked at his
second read. He just started going, oh my god.

Speaker 3 (07:33):
He looks real real quick. It's a tight end that.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
Yeah, he looked in the middle and there's actually two
guys everybody covering, everybody covered.

Speaker 3 (07:42):
What he should have done.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
Was either taking a sack or just throwing the ball
wherever the hell he's going.

Speaker 3 (07:47):
To throw the ball at that point. Taking a sack,
let's give credit. It's a time and the worse situation.

Speaker 4 (07:56):
Yeah, And unfortunately for a lot of college guys, they
don't understand that when you're when you get the ball
back to the coach has to say to your yard,
here's here's what's happening.

Speaker 3 (08:03):
Where they're gonna go down and kick a field goal
or going overtime. That's it. There's no other result.

Speaker 2 (08:08):
It's like at the end of a college basketball game
and you have the ball and the shot clocks off
and it's time.

Speaker 4 (08:14):
You're either winning the game or you're going to overtime.
The only thing you can't do is what he did. Yeah,
and they don't even throw the ball to me.

Speaker 5 (08:20):
It's the it's the will Levis trade, Why are you
throwing the worst possible pass in the worst.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
Because he's trying, he's trying to make a play. He's
playing for a national championship. If the players, you don't
need to make it. If they hadn't gotten that twelve
yards on first down, they probably would have sent the
hold if they gained three yards.

Speaker 3 (08:38):
Yeah, and then to.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
Play that they called the tight end. It was like
a five yard piss. Understand that they never threw the
ball along the whole game. Remember against Boise State, they
kept throwing the ball bombs.

Speaker 3 (08:48):
Yeah, they did. That's all that game. I know they
tried a couple of times.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
And in all fairness, it doesn't excuse what happened in
the Notre Dame. Kid makes a great brushing his us
because he forces it's the whole thing. Absolutely, But and
you know, Fairfri and Dick and I texted a little
bit about that. But again they're going to point to
the coach and they're going to say, hey, now you're
one in whatever.

Speaker 5 (09:12):
The one time I thought they were properly repaired, thought
here's a great thing.

Speaker 2 (09:17):
Somebody on Twitter, God forbid wives, I say, well, you
know you're saying they were the top five team.

Speaker 3 (09:23):
They were seven. No no, no, no, no no, they were
seventy in the college football rank. They were number three
at the end of the year.

Speaker 2 (09:28):
But that's okay, no, no, it was they had a
chest to get a top five and against the terrific,
beautifully coached.

Speaker 3 (09:35):
Notre Dame team, and and it looked like they had it.

Speaker 4 (09:38):
I mean it looked like Notre Dame, you're taking and
then in the seconds of backfilled down right, that's the
back falls down. In the second half, Riley Letter, who's
not a great passer, made a lot of really good
passes Notre Dame's whiteouts, which are about as good as
Penn States, which is not great. All of a sudden
they were running around the secondary and yeah, Notre Dame
probably at the end.

Speaker 3 (09:59):
Was slightly you better not a lot. It was a
top fifty, which is what the first spread was. That
field goal was no gimme.

Speaker 2 (10:06):
And it's like it was going right and then it
just curved back to I couldn't believe.

Speaker 5 (10:11):
It looked like it was going straight for the the
up straight. Yeah, and that that was one. It's like,
where's Destiny gonna put the wind gonna Bowl left right.

Speaker 2 (10:19):
I was at that point really rooting for him to miss,
just because I didn't want the kid all or to
have to think about this all off season.

Speaker 3 (10:25):
I hate that. That's the one thing I hate for college.

Speaker 5 (10:28):
It does and FIRS, but I really I hate that pass.
I think it's a hard.

Speaker 3 (10:32):
What's Brian Kelly doing today?

Speaker 2 (10:34):
Brian Kelly, who last year with a Hesman Trophy winner,
the guy and the best rookie wide receiver in the NFL,
lost three times or four times, And I'm like, look,
Brian Kelly went to a title game, he went to the playoff.
But again you open your mouth up like I'm going
to l s U because I can't win a.

Speaker 3 (10:51):
Championship and no name might not win the title game.

Speaker 5 (10:53):
So that's This is the second time that that that
has happened and not worked. The first one was Jimbo
Fisher thought I can go to Texas am I have
a bunch of money, I can win there, and then
Florida State ended up even though right now they're terrible,
they still ended up going undefeated and maybe should have
been in the put.

Speaker 3 (11:08):
Do you know what the bottom line or not?

Speaker 2 (11:09):
This money Jimbo got eighty million to leave and Ryan's
getting like eighty million to stay.

Speaker 5 (11:14):
But both coaches are like, I'm gonna win at this
place and I couldn't win it the other place.

Speaker 3 (11:18):
And well the other places they are doing just fine.

Speaker 4 (11:20):
So we'll spend most of the time on the NFL
playoffs and obviously the Eagles. But let's get to the
college football final Ohio State.

Speaker 3 (11:28):
Or one thing I want to mention about the Texas games. Yeah,
I found this interest.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
So Texas has first and goal with the one two
pass inferences. You do not run that second down plug.
First of all, you run it four times. Now, I
know you can't if Ohio State stops you four times,
Hey God bless, but you don't lose yard.

Speaker 3 (11:47):
Do you know who?

Speaker 2 (11:48):
Remember when the Eagles beat the Falcons in twenty seventeen
and the Falcons had the ball first and goal with
the nine and they rolled they horrible play corn. Then
they rolled Matt Ryan out when the last play ye.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
OC was Steve Sarkisian. Wow, just putting up I.

Speaker 2 (12:04):
Think the OC for the Falcons she was no idea
before he went to Alabama.

Speaker 3 (12:09):
He was Now.

Speaker 2 (12:10):
I think sarks are a really good coach. I mean,
I think he knows what he's doing. Here's my other point.
Where was arch Manning when the ball was fourth and one,
first in one?

Speaker 3 (12:19):
Well, apparently arch Manning isn't very good.

Speaker 2 (12:21):
He bought him in in the first half when they
had a fourth and two right near midfield, they bought
arch in.

Speaker 3 (12:28):
He ran the ball.

Speaker 2 (12:29):
Well, I think you were well, I think youres might
have had is that when he.

Speaker 3 (12:32):
Hit his head. Did he get a first man he
got hit in the head. No.

Speaker 2 (12:36):
All I'm saying is you're you're there and and you
run the first plane okay, Ohio State stuff.

Speaker 4 (12:42):
Ship, but you get close close run it again. Yeah,
you can't do a sweep. That's the only thing you
get this, Sarks said the day. If we'd have blocked
it right, we'd have been five.

Speaker 3 (12:50):
That's funny. But you know what comes down. I get it.
If you blocked it right, sure, but you didn't.

Speaker 4 (12:55):
But you can't take a chance up to Mike's point
on losing seven yards.

Speaker 3 (12:59):
And this is why only thing, this is the beauty
of the toush push whatever you think.

Speaker 2 (13:03):
And the Deagles ain't scoring there might take them to
and they ain't losing yards. They ain't losing yards, and
I'm thinking, now, I don't know what Texas does. I mean,
you're telling me Cam Newers couldn't run a quarterback sneak
this three times?

Speaker 3 (13:17):
I don't know. As soon as that play happened, now
did go to fourth down? Right?

Speaker 2 (13:22):
The fourth down was the was the fumble, but it
wouldn't matter. But once that play happened, I said Texas
and Texas ain't scoring here. But now Ohio State new
they had to throw the ball. So here's my thought
on Ohio State, not day.

Speaker 4 (13:35):
My initial thoughts one is Ohio State is Penn State,
but better, right, better defensive backs by far. I mean
they got NFL defensive wide receivers way better.

Speaker 3 (13:47):
Why way better?

Speaker 2 (13:48):
Why that's the biggest And that guy number four only
had one catch for two catches guys guard right, I
think I think you can make a case that Penn
State's offensive line and running backs or at least as
good as Ohio States, if not better. Penn State's defensive
line is as good as Ohio State's. But the back four, no,
and clearly the passing game not in the same speed, right,

(14:10):
So a Notre Dame right more speed? So Notre Dame
is essentially facing a similar team to what they just
life and death, but better at the key spots. I
don't know how Notre Dame is gonna throw the ball
against this team. Will I don't see it. Yeah, but
you said that last week and you were you weren't wrong.

Speaker 3 (14:27):
Yeah, they found the way, but they did, and if
they didn't, they weren'ting to win. They were gonna win trouble.

Speaker 5 (14:32):
Run and I don't think Ohio State Secondary is gonna
slip and fall.

Speaker 3 (14:36):
So they have NFL. The line is nine and a half.
It's opening line.

Speaker 2 (14:40):
But somebody boil up an interesting point with the gaming.
Remember last year's game early in the year, Ohio State
beat him when the last play of the game because
Notre Dame had ten guys on on defense. Yeah, and
so the game went to Now I'm not saying they're
different teams and and and all that kind of thing,
but I don't That.

Speaker 4 (15:00):
Was a Marvin Harrison Ohio State team. They had a
lot of really good players on that team. I mean,
and that game was in Commas. Yes, I believe the thing.

Speaker 2 (15:08):
Actually last night, I actually I like Notre Dame. I
actually liked Texas a little bit last night. I just thought, Okay,
they're they're whatever, probably should have been in overtime, or
maybe Ohio State wins it at the end on a
field goal.

Speaker 3 (15:20):
I thought State was marginally better in the game, not better,
but marginally.

Speaker 2 (15:24):
But they're better than anybody right now. I mean, you
can line them up and it doesn't matter favor.

Speaker 3 (15:29):
It's funny.

Speaker 2 (15:29):
I went back and looked at the College Football the
final standards, because when this thing started, the two teams
I liked from a betting angle, not it was Ohio State,
Notre Dame. High State was like six to one, Penn
State or Notre Dame was five to one, or maybe
I'm reverse Georgia.

Speaker 3 (15:45):
It was the favorite. It was Georgia Texas.

Speaker 2 (15:47):
And Oregon was favorite of Ohio State. No, no, no,
at the first to win the national title. Oregon was
like three hundred three.

Speaker 3 (15:55):
To one when the playoffs started.

Speaker 2 (15:58):
Yes, they were chance. They were another dog against Ohio State.
I'm telling you I could game. I don't care. I
called it up last night. Ye I don't see that.
I don't see that because they were the one seed.
And but you don't understand what I'm saying. Ohio State
was favored at the game, so there's been a longer
price to within it.

Speaker 3 (16:14):
Okay, I'm telling.

Speaker 5 (16:15):
You, I think maybe because they had to play they
had to play an extra game and was talking about.

Speaker 3 (16:20):
Before it all.

Speaker 2 (16:21):
Yes, I'm sorry, fair enough, Yeah, and it was it
was Oregon was three, Georgia was like whatever for Texas
was right there with him. And again I wasn't sure
Notre Dame could be Georgia because I yeah, I didn't
know Ohio State was going to become Ohio State.

Speaker 4 (16:37):
You could also make the case that a Notre Dame
has not faced a good quarterback yet, or.

Speaker 3 (16:43):
At least a quarterback now played well allers a good quarterback, Yeah,
credits CRK is good, but Indiana, just how many good quarterbacks?
Like were even many?

Speaker 2 (16:53):
I mean it was not a great year for like
like last year was a pretty good year for college quarterbacks.

Speaker 3 (16:58):
Right, yeah, what do we like it? This git oh
Higher State easily.

Speaker 5 (17:02):
I don't even think it's not too much of a
question because the passing game is is far beyond what
Notre Dame is faced so far in the college football playoffs.
Their secondary already and look, there are plays we've made
with Penn.

Speaker 3 (17:15):
State in the passing game.

Speaker 5 (17:16):
They just couldn't make them so and the thing is,
well Howard can make them, and the wide receivers are
a lot better at Ohio State.

Speaker 4 (17:23):
Texas played very conservative last night. They didn't blitch. They
didn't want nothing over the top. That's not how all
Golden plays at all. They blitched like wild people that
could open them behind.

Speaker 5 (17:34):
I know they're really aggressive and that that to me
just just means a high state could you know, blow
this game wide open.

Speaker 4 (17:40):
The other concerning thing is you're playing Penn State with
no passing game and they ran rough shot over your defense.

Speaker 3 (17:47):
I mean they were running, well, what are you yards?
They run for two hundred I think so, I know
the first half they they couldn't. They couldn't. I don't
know if they have had a run run under five yards.

Speaker 4 (17:56):
Now you have a team was I don't think they're
I don't think their running backs are better than pet
States and Penn State's running back get Allen this phenomenal single.

Speaker 3 (18:03):
To never Yeah. All I think Henderson and Judkins are
They're good, very talent.

Speaker 4 (18:07):
Yeah, I think pet States are a little better. I
think pet State's offensive line's a little better. But having
said that they got no passing game, and then in
Ohio State's passing game is elite with NFL wideouts.

Speaker 3 (18:18):
Make Mike your thoughts on.

Speaker 4 (18:19):
The Irish getting nine and a half and they've covered forever.
They're like doing a Yukon here. They've covered like thirteen
straight yups.

Speaker 2 (18:27):
I just get wacked down a little bit when everybody
looks at the game and what that team. You know,
it was like last night, that game very easily could
have been an overtime or whatever, and nobody was really
giving Texas a chance because Ohio State would So you said.

Speaker 3 (18:42):
They love the recency thing. Yep, they've looked.

Speaker 2 (18:45):
I mean the game against Oregon, everybody's like, oh my god,
thirty four, and I think that was a setup game.
I just think I think I give Ohio State credit.
They had to go out and play the game, but
Oregon had no shot in that game they did.

Speaker 3 (18:56):
It was just a bed whatever. Notre Dame it looks
it's it's like a what was it like meant to be?

Speaker 5 (19:06):
Like?

Speaker 2 (19:07):
You can only write these kind of stories at Notre Dame.
These are the only spoon guys. But again, you go
back to your here's gonna be interesting let's see Ohio
State wins.

Speaker 3 (19:16):
You think the people in Ohio State will still be
mad they lost to Michigan. Yeah, of course, of no. Distroy.

Speaker 4 (19:22):
I just thought, here's here's Notre Dame Champs. They're Michigan.
They do in Michigan, don't Ohio State. They somehow keep
the score low.

Speaker 3 (19:31):
Get ahead. Oh that's the only way they win. Get ahead.
And Ohio State starts to freak out as the heavy
and maybe they turned maybe they.

Speaker 2 (19:37):
Turned the ball over a couple of times.

Speaker 3 (19:40):
You can throw an interception. That's the one thing that
rely on.

Speaker 4 (19:44):
But if Ohio State gets at early, even if the
petstake got at early, and.

Speaker 2 (19:52):
Like they hadn't been behind since the North of Illinois gate.
And I love how they reacted. I thought that, I
thought they were thought, I'll tell you how how much
money did abdual Carter make a ton of money?

Speaker 3 (20:04):
He might be a top five draft pick. Okay, somebody
had him too.

Speaker 2 (20:07):
He's the first defensive player off the board in a
year where and he's playing with one How about that
he couldn't play.

Speaker 3 (20:14):
He was the most signed, He was by far the
most dominant player in the field. Yeah, it's around here around.

Speaker 2 (20:19):
Yeah, I knew it was somewhere in Philadelphia that was
Abdul Carter some player and he wears incredible, which nice number.

Speaker 3 (20:27):
Yeah, I was wondering if you were that because of Parsons.

Speaker 2 (20:30):
I don't know LeVar Eric, That's exactly I forgot.

Speaker 3 (20:34):
I forgot about LeVar.

Speaker 5 (20:37):
The Michigan game is certainly a blueprint for Notre Dame,
but I think the difference now that we've seen with
the highest scene in the past three games is they're
they're starting to get way more explosive in the passing game.
So last night was a good example of the High
Saints not probably playing their best game. Things are a
little out of sorts, but seventy five yard touchdown at
the end of the first half and everything just kind

(20:57):
of like settles in a little bit close.

Speaker 3 (21:00):
Twenty twenty points, Yeah, but.

Speaker 5 (21:01):
That's a game where Tech Texas defense.

Speaker 2 (21:03):
I thinks, really, yeah, I think the Ohio State only
scores twenty one points.

Speaker 3 (21:09):
Yeah, No, name's gotta shot.

Speaker 2 (21:11):
I agree with if the game gets to where we
we we think and and if I think gets ahead,
it's probably going to be tough. But I've seen strange
things happen in games. John, I've covered too many of
these games where I'm a big fan of the head coach.
I think he's got a real good vibe about him.
I think yeah, sens absolutely. I think he understands how

(21:31):
to manage the game. I love how they played the
game at the end. He understood exactly what was.

Speaker 3 (21:35):
No game I'll throw at you guys.

Speaker 2 (21:37):
Two thousand and two, Ohio State Miamie Miami was so
much the better team. I mean, you go back and
look at the roster that Miami team, and they did
win the game because there was a penalty to show,
but that's okay, and Ohio State said no, we're gonna
play our game.

Speaker 3 (21:55):
And his final score was seventeen seventeen going into overtimes.

Speaker 2 (21:59):
Whatever had to kick a field goal at the end
to even send it in overtime. But I'm just saying,
that's the kind of game, if you can play that
kind of game, Clorette.

Speaker 3 (22:09):
And the guy in Miami went out with that bad kneed.
Can anybody remember in the Ohio State quarterback, Yeah, Kencel
Creg Krenzil.

Speaker 2 (22:17):
Crenzil, Craig Krenzel fourth and twelve and Dorsey was on
the other end, Dorsey was the quarterback and they had
the real good running back of McGahee who went his
knee got like that whacked.

Speaker 4 (22:27):
As Mike said, they had. It was similar to the
Penn State legendary Penn State.

Speaker 3 (22:31):
Yes, yes, Miami had NFL guy.

Speaker 2 (22:34):
How do how does Penn State in eighty six win
that game?

Speaker 3 (22:39):
Was? How does Miami score ten points?

Speaker 2 (22:42):
Because Jimmy Johnson let his ego get all busted away
and said we're gonna get our husband Troy. He threw
five picks.

Speaker 3 (22:48):
It was like five hundred yards to two hundred yards
for Miami and.

Speaker 2 (22:52):
Penn State rushed three guys. They said run the ball
on us if you want, and they didn't. Yep, And
those games happened, and we think, we think they don't,
they do.

Speaker 3 (23:02):
And that's the blueprint. That's the blueprint.

Speaker 5 (23:05):
That absolutely, but that's also a blueprint of everything's got
to break your way, got to play extremely great.

Speaker 3 (23:12):
You're not wrong, right, I know you? State's the right play.

Speaker 4 (23:16):
The white otter Dame covers is a backdoor cover or
B they get the lead and that's a low scoring
game and State starts to freak out.

Speaker 3 (23:23):
But it went all the heats on the Buckeyes.

Speaker 2 (23:25):
I agree with that. To win it, Yeah, I agree
with that. We're supposed to win when the season started.
They are, that's true, and they have the best players.
They paid for it, and the teams with the two
most talented teams probably played last night because Texas has
a lot of really good NIL players to But the
thing is, I've seen it, Like I said, I mean,

(23:47):
I've seen games like this where you just look at it.
It's like there's no way that team can lose. Oh yeah,
there was one. Oh, I'll give you another one. Florida
State Oklahoma in two thousand. Florida State was awesome. Oklahoma
had thirteen to two. Your final score, thirteen to thirteen two.

(24:07):
That's the only way, noted thing. Yeah, oh yeah, I
thirteen thirteen to two. That's a great Bobby Baden scored
two points with the Heusman Trophy winner Chris Chris Wanky,
and again they were going for the repeat because they.

Speaker 3 (24:20):
Had won one year before.

Speaker 2 (24:23):
Yes, but I'm saying the only way Notre Dame, and
I about guarantee if Freeman's gonna like be looking at
stuff like that and saying, okay, al, this is what
we gotta do al you gotta you know, you gotta
hold him, and the offense has to do its job
by keeping not turning it over with you know, and
maybe Ohio State wins by twenty.

Speaker 3 (24:41):
They can't have more picks State. That's not going to work.
They gotta play it for oh that one. That's that's
when I thought the game was over.

Speaker 5 (24:50):
Terrible picks actually saw Texas quintin Ewers was if you
can get Rylany Leonard off the spot, especially throwing, because
Carter was doing that all game. That's when he doesn't
have the mechanics of the army, he starts sailing things.
And I thought that's what the highest they did really
well against Quentin you weres. They just kept getting him
off the spot. Quin Yours has never comfortable and he
was moving all.

Speaker 3 (25:07):
Notre Dame run the ball at all. I mean, they've
got two pretty good backs, great backs, but I don't.

Speaker 4 (25:12):
Know if they don't Penn State to throw it, and
they beat him by throwing it in the end. I mean,
you know, their running game was not great because Penn
State did what they did against Boiser.

Speaker 2 (25:23):
Penn State did everything it had to do to win,
and they just they probably retro and retrospects.

Speaker 3 (25:30):
When they first went for I wasn't against it.

Speaker 2 (25:32):
I was like, Okay, they're going to try to move
the ball down the field here and maybe get a
field problem that you got overtime and anything possible exactly.
It was the remember the legendary first Super Bowl for
the Patriots.

Speaker 3 (25:44):
They got the ball at the end. The Rams have
made the big car right. Nobody and everybody said that.

Speaker 4 (25:47):
John frad says, don't don't even try it on TV,
don't even John Brady goes right down.

Speaker 3 (25:54):
He was what it was the right play because the
Rams are the better team. You do not want to
keep playing. You have the ball, try to win it.

Speaker 2 (26:01):
Although I don't know who the better team there fifty.

Speaker 5 (26:05):
The only the only decision I don't know Franklin made
right or not. It was right at the beginning of
the game. It was should he have gone for a
fourth down after the miss Singleton pass? Yeah, that's the
one because if you score there, you you already have
a huge advantage going and I'm a.

Speaker 4 (26:20):
Big fan of fourth and anything less than like three,
just going for because if you miss it and you stop.

Speaker 5 (26:26):
Them right back, especially at how I mean, you couldn't
know how your defense was going to be because I
don't think their defense.

Speaker 3 (26:34):
Yeah, he would have gone for early in the game.

Speaker 5 (26:36):
I would trust your defensive line going a dual. Carter's
about to rush Riley Lander. If we don't get this,
he's gonna be on the two three yard line, and
Carter is gonna have just an absolute laser on more.

Speaker 3 (26:49):
All right, so we've we've solved all that through our
first part.

Speaker 2 (26:52):
If you have a Penn State person right now you're
waking up, don't you feel good though about what I mean?

Speaker 3 (26:57):
I know you feel big because you lost the game,
But don't you sit.

Speaker 2 (27:00):
There and go, Okay, we made the playoffs, won a
couple of games. Wed Okay, we didn't beat great, but
we won a couple of games.

Speaker 4 (27:05):
We're that close to playing for a national title. Yeah,
I mean, I will say this.

Speaker 2 (27:09):
Let's say they had won the game, they'd be probably
an even bigger dog against Ohio State because of all
the the games have been close. But they're all close, right,
so I don't know if it would be a lot
stand against them. Back in early November, woun't think the
line would be more than nine and a half. Yeah,
well whatever, but yeah, Mike, yes and no, what what

(27:31):
does I feel bad for the coach?

Speaker 1 (27:33):
What?

Speaker 2 (27:33):
This record against top five is like one and twenty
ridiculous record. But again a lot is you know what,
people don't factor in this l You're in the games
enough to some of those some of whose game and
his record is an underdog. He's like horrible. They like
he's lost like ten, but again he might have been
the underdog like in Ohio State that counts, you know,
but he apparently what they're saying is you never win

(27:54):
when you're not supposed to win.

Speaker 3 (27:56):
And that's been the knock.

Speaker 2 (27:58):
You beat the s m U s or you beat
the you know, the Boise States, and and there's something
to be said for that. It's weird because I mean,
they had a fatal flaw in the early Franklin teams
when they started to get good, they had an NFL whiteouts.

Speaker 4 (28:12):
I mean, he did know the names the guys. A
lot of these got an NFL tight ends. I still
have an NFL tight end obviously, but I don't know
what happened with why they didn't have white outs what
and they've already gone into the portal.

Speaker 3 (28:23):
They got guys for next year.

Speaker 4 (28:24):
That was bizarre because you've recruited this quarterback you really like,
and they didn't have them even a couple of years
ago they had better White House.

Speaker 3 (28:31):
Remember the Rose Bowl, Grippin again, they went.

Speaker 2 (28:33):
Bizarre game, the game where I started my first time
when I started that bad vibes about Frank and I not.

Speaker 3 (28:42):
Look, the guy wins a lot of game.

Speaker 2 (28:44):
I'm not saying the Rose Bowl that they lost to
USC with Squon Barkley Road, Yeah, who's the quarterback now?

Speaker 3 (28:51):
And for the Vikings, Sam.

Speaker 2 (28:53):
Dark he was and Penn States winning the game like
fourteen seventy game one On they had to do was
run basically get a couple first downs, and he refused.
He kept giving the ball safe on the field stunk,
Saquon kept slipping. All he had to do was have his
quarterback who could run fake it. Oh yeah, it was
one or two first downs. So USC comes back and

(29:14):
ties it, and then he tries to say thing, tries
bout the USC intercepts, guy kicks and I'm thinking like, no,
that wasn't a well but he was young in his career.
Then I'm thinking like, okay, you know whatever, But that
since then they've won cotton balls. They'll they've won big,
but they lost a lot of SEC teams. As you've

(29:34):
found out recently, they just haven't. It's unfortunately they have
they have a top ten program. Yeah, and because the
playoffs are expanded this year, they got a chance to play.

Speaker 3 (29:43):
They won games.

Speaker 2 (29:45):
It's just can you get from top ten to top five?
And then I just have it quite But there will
be people, but they're closed.

Speaker 3 (29:53):
There will be people that.

Speaker 2 (29:54):
Will look at their season and say, Okay, they lost
at O High State, no shame there, but again you
look lost lost, or again no shame there, beat SMU
at home, right, and you beat poisoned, And that's what
they're going to say.

Speaker 3 (30:06):
That's also not untrue.

Speaker 2 (30:08):
And and again a lot of there's three there's one
hundred and thirty twenty programs that would trade for Penn
State tomorrow, but there's five or six, or seven or
eight or nine that might not. And there's also a history. John,
you're too young to know this, but Jeff Turno had
not one, not two, nothing. He had five undefeated teams.
You know, only one of them won the.

Speaker 4 (30:29):
National time, like three to a row in the seventies, right,
in the late sixties they had like a thirty thirty
two game winning streak, but because Eastern teams were date seriously,
there was a vote.

Speaker 3 (30:39):
I mean, the whole thing was ridiculous.

Speaker 4 (30:40):
And then his best team was the nineteen ninety four
team that was denied the title because the votes again,
which which is why we have the DCS and.

Speaker 3 (30:49):
Now talk team playoff, which is much better than anything.

Speaker 2 (30:52):
It's interesting, which is going to go to fourteen or
sixteen by the way soon.

Speaker 4 (30:55):
I think I mentioned this on the day of the
first playoff game. Paterno had advocating for playoffs since he
was forever for those reasons, right, And it fell on
what it would have been his like ninety eighth birthday.
It was kind of it was that the December twenty
second or twenty first, whatever, sixty sixty nine, John Arkansas
plays Texas.

Speaker 3 (31:15):
It's the last game. They moved it for some reason.
It got moved.

Speaker 2 (31:18):
It was like December to first, whatever, and Richard Nixon
declares the president when he's going to go to game,
the winners the national champ Because there was two poles
then one pole came out at the end of the
regular season. The other pole came out after the ball games.
Text day was dense's unbeat the Han lost it. Like wait,
Richard Nixon decided the national champs. Well he didn't decide now,

(31:39):
but he said, whoever wins the games on the game.
He went to the game and handed the trophy to
Texas wins fifteen to fourteenth.

Speaker 3 (31:45):
Great game.

Speaker 2 (31:46):
All the at Arkansas and Joe, they're unbeaten. And they
went to a bowl game and beat the Oh no,
that was the year I think they won. They beat
Missouri ten to three in the Orange Bowl. But anyway,
they're unbeaten. Number two. They and that back then there
was nothing you could do about it.

Speaker 3 (32:04):
That was just the way it was. For a history
lesson John.

Speaker 2 (32:07):
For a couple of years later, Richard Nixon, of course
has to resign the presidency.

Speaker 3 (32:11):
Because of Watergate, and John Peturno had the great line.

Speaker 2 (32:14):
He says, Richard Nixon seemed to know a lot more
about football than he knew about water game. John John
Cappiletti's senior year. Then they went to the Cotton Bowl.
A couple of years later, Franco and Lido Mitchell one
two and Franco didn't play. Franco got suspended because he Texas.
They can't win the just roll thirty because that was

(32:36):
their makeup game from like two years of the seventy
one Cotton Bowl. If I'm not saying Capillletti's senior year,
I think they went on beating and finished fourth behind
three teams and cape Letty didn't play in the Sugar
Bowl because he was sick, and they beat LSU like fourteen.

Speaker 4 (32:50):
They had some legendary pH Dave Robertson who was a
legendary linebacker for the great, the great Packers teams back
in Blackham, who was back in man football.

Speaker 3 (33:00):
Look up Lido Mitchell, Franco House NF.

Speaker 2 (33:03):
They were in the same backfield, both from both from Jersey.
Branco is from Jersey. Yeah, Mount Holly, I'm light. That
was I'm not sure where, but anyway, for Penn State fans,
that's my point. This goes back forever that they just
haven't had that opportunity. Now the good news is they
finally have the chance, so give it a little time.

Speaker 3 (33:25):
They're getting closer. And here's another thing people done that
Mike knows this.

Speaker 4 (33:28):
John Wooden, in my opinion, the greatest coach in college
sports history, fifteen years till he won his first title
at UCLA.

Speaker 3 (33:36):
Wasn't it fifteen years we got in the tournament or something.
It took along. It took them leg a long time. Cally,
you can't beat Cattle and Penn State.

Speaker 2 (33:43):
Penn State's going to have to deal with Ohio State,
Michigan and maybe other teams. And then the funny so
Penn State gets in the national title game. After the
seventy nine season, they played Bama in the Sugar Bowl.

Speaker 3 (33:55):
This is for the national title. They're wanting too.

Speaker 2 (33:57):
They lose fourteen to seven, and it's just oh, yeah,
it's just brutal.

Speaker 5 (34:03):
Yeah, and I'll I'll give Franklin credit. I know he
didn't win that game, and a lot it's been put
on James Franklin and Kenny win those. But he got
the offense, Like the offense is now getting better. It's
it's the right it's the right scheme to be able
to be really good in college football. So he made
that decision. He's still recruiting really great players. He even
the biggest knock on him as well, he doesn't get
the quarterback. He got the quarterback that everybody thinks is

(34:26):
like amazing it's not his fault that maybe the quarterback's
not living what got him he's getting This.

Speaker 2 (34:32):
Is what you see in college football. Question, he's a
very very good coach. Is he a great coach? I
don't know, but he's he's very good, Ryan Day. A
month ago people were Dick Sirianni whose team could have
been sixteen and one right now? But not for but anyway,
this is what people do. It's and in college football
because only one team can win. I guarantee you there's

(34:54):
people in Texas right now killing song absolutely?

Speaker 3 (34:57):
Oh yeah? Who else will get killed?

Speaker 1 (34:59):
Who?

Speaker 3 (35:00):
The pitch up? The probably?

Speaker 5 (35:01):
The probably because I think Arts Manning should have been
brought in for Quinin You was like a few games ago.

Speaker 2 (35:05):
Yes, I mean Kirby Smart. I'm sure there's people when
Nick sable one you lost the game or two? Go
get him out of here.

Speaker 5 (35:13):
How long do you think Kaylin is gonna last it
till next season?

Speaker 4 (35:17):
You give me back at Washington? All right, we got
to take a break. That's it for college football today.
Onto the NFL, On to the Eagles.

Speaker 2 (35:25):
Uh.

one eight hundred gambler dictoradi my current John Jansen here
until eleven. All right, let's go directly to the game
of most interest on this show, Sunday, Game four of

(37:00):
the first round of the playoffs. Four point thirty Fox,
Tom Brady, Green Bay at Eagles at Link. Eagles have
been It's been pretty much five all week long. I
haven't seen a lot of change over under forty five
Packers coming off a weird loss to the Bears at home.
I don't know what that means. Work that Christian Watson

(37:22):
got torn acl not good. Jordan Love got hurt, but
apparently he's fine. Eagles, as Mike just said, or one
bad game away from being sixteen and one. No two
catching catches, right, I mean, I mean literally right, two catches.

Speaker 3 (37:40):
They're sixty six and one.

Speaker 4 (37:42):
Who goes sixteen and one and nobody's playing the last week.

Speaker 3 (37:47):
It's phenomenal at a phenomenal season. Green Bay. Their their
issue was the division they were in.

Speaker 4 (37:54):
The only team they lost to outside of their division
was the Eagles in Brazil, and they were competitive at
all the losses against Minnesota and against Detroit.

Speaker 3 (38:03):
And I don't know the game.

Speaker 4 (38:05):
I don't know what the game meant for them last week,
not a lot they were why they plead they were
probably gonna be seven.

Speaker 3 (38:10):
Yeah, and there was just a lot of things.

Speaker 5 (38:12):
Because Jordan Love ends up going out to Chris Watson's
it was just an odd game.

Speaker 4 (38:15):
It was a weird game. So yeah, the result probably irrelevant.
Really well coached team and obviously everybody's going to look
back the last year in the playoffs when they went
on the road roll Dallas had a late lead against
San Francisco. It's an up and coming team, young, a
lot of talent. Eagles have players who have been in
big games. They've been in the biggest game. They have
a phenomenal offensive line. Their defense was the best in

(38:38):
the league. From the Tampa game, on Jalen Hurts, I'm
sure I'd be fine. They said he just got out
of protocol. He probably could have gotten out of protocol
two weeks ago, but they didn't need him to get
out of the protocol.

Speaker 2 (38:48):
Saquon Barkley coming off the greatest running season in Eagles history,
one of the greatest in NFL history.

Speaker 3 (38:54):
Eagles are five. Mike.

Speaker 4 (38:56):
Your thoughts on the game as we head for Eagles
and the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (39:00):
Yeah, the Packers have been a weird team, and the
game in Brazil, I don't First of all, I don't
even count that game. It was whatever the the Eagles won.
Nobody is picking the Packers to win this game. I mean,
I've been listening all week. I'm not talking about pointspread now.
I'm just talking about nobody, and I mean nobody is
saying I think the Packers can win this game. I

(39:22):
think a lot of it is because the Eagles are
good and their home Watson being out. I think Watson
is really I mean, the Eagles didn't play against Pickens
a few weeks ago, they didn't playing in.

Speaker 3 (39:31):
CDEE Lambo thought nobody cared because it was down.

Speaker 2 (39:34):
But Watson being out, he's the Packers guy that can
stretch the field and whatever. I think if the Eagles
can stop the Packers running game, which I think they can,
then the Packers got very little shot.

Speaker 3 (39:44):
Now, Josh Jake's gonna be tough.

Speaker 5 (39:46):
I love the way Bond and n Kobe Deane have
been playing but that's a bruiser, that's a big guy.
They they're a little bit undersized up front. So Jordan Davis,
I know he doesn't play a lot, but he might
need to play in this game, and he might need
to play somewhat well.

Speaker 2 (39:58):
If I was the Eagles, I would make Jordan Love
beat me. I would say, Okay, we ain't gonna let
you run the ball because this guy can chew up
time and keep us off there. And Jordan, if you
have a great game, you'll have at it. That's what
I would do.

Speaker 5 (40:12):
Your thoughts, Jeh, I think at this point, I think
teams just they've shown us what they are. They are
who they are. I think Houston's a good example of
that too. They're a bad football team that they are
who they are. Green Bay is good, just there's something
about them that just isn't good enough at times, and
I think a little bit of that is on defense.
I don't think they're extremely talented on defense. They play well,

(40:34):
but once they play better teams, sometimes their defense tends
to falter. And that's happened a lot in the past
two games, specifically Minnesota they gave up a lot of
points and then Detroit they gave up a ton. So
I think the Eagles should be able to have some
success on offense, but it's it's their offense that the
passing game is just it's good, and everything everything is
I think with Jordan Love like really good. It's just

(40:55):
something is a little bit off. And when you've been
a little bit off all year, that's just what The
quarterback was hurt early.

Speaker 3 (41:02):
You got hurt in the Eagles game, and then you
know it will give the awesome the second half. But
there was a lot of expectations on this team. They
were the.

Speaker 2 (41:10):
Team that was going to beat well and yell, it
turns out they finished third in their division.

Speaker 3 (41:13):
Now that's no.

Speaker 2 (41:14):
Yeah, the other two teams are really good. But again
and I think, look, and if the Eagles were to
lose this game tomorrow without Watson playing, but even if
it's not gonna be good for the Eagles.

Speaker 3 (41:26):
I mean, not that anybody's gonna get f I don't
mean that.

Speaker 2 (41:29):
You know, I'm sure some people will be saying that,
but this is a game they can't lose your home,
you're the fourteen and three team, you're you know, you're
favored by five.

Speaker 3 (41:39):
Whatever. Uh.

Speaker 2 (41:40):
I just think the Eagles have to win this game.
Now are they gonna win you know, big? Are they
gonna win little or whatever?

Speaker 3 (41:47):
But I just have to win. I mean, it's it's
been all year.

Speaker 5 (41:50):
So here are their losses, all against really good teams
except the one. I think I could throw a well,
now that don't count. Yeah I could throw Yeah, I'm
that's fair.

Speaker 3 (41:57):
When last week the one game was just it won thirty.

Speaker 5 (42:00):
Four to twenty nine, right, Minnesota thirty one twenty nine.
The only one that maybe was bad was Detroit twenty
four fourteen. But by the way, you helped Detroit the
twenty four points. That's not a lot of teams do.
Then the next game you lose is at Detroit thirty
four to thirty one loss, and then at twenty seven
to twenty five lost to Minnesota, which maybe you could
take Minnesota, uh kind of let him back in that game,
but still Greenmay got in that game and had a chance.

Speaker 3 (42:20):
To mempetitive all year long.

Speaker 4 (42:23):
Does does anybody think the game in Brazil has any
relevance to the game.

Speaker 5 (42:26):
No, because I think mostly the Eagles are way different
than and the field was cracked that I remember, like pe,
I mean.

Speaker 2 (42:33):
The Eagles had a bunch of turnovers in that game
and still won. Yeah, Hearts wasn't very good at that game.
He had a couple of pairs.

Speaker 3 (42:38):
I don't think Love was very good in that game either.
I think yeah, he was off. Yeah, it's one hundred
years aga. That's what happens when you send people to
Brazil in August.

Speaker 4 (42:46):
I mean, you know, so, here's what Green Bay is
gonna do. All right, They're gonna say, Barkley not happening
for you. All right, They're gonna try. They're right, they're
gonna try. We'll see if they succeed or not.

Speaker 2 (42:57):
And they're gonna go, all right, Jael, and can you
get the ball out and your two sensational wide.

Speaker 3 (43:02):
Now coming off having not played in three having played,
and if he can, then the Eagles are gonna roll. Exactly.
That's what I think.

Speaker 4 (43:09):
I don't see green Bay putting up a ton of points.
The only team that's done anything against the Eagles for
months is Washington.

Speaker 3 (43:16):
Who put up a little weird game. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (43:19):
I mean, there's no way you could lose that game.
Creating five turnovers that they did, it.

Speaker 3 (43:22):
Was just the same. They have the best defense in
the league. They didn't.

Speaker 2 (43:25):
I mean, but he said that in today's NFL, Mike,
I don't care how good your defense is.

Speaker 4 (43:32):
It's an offensive league. Oh, you better be able to
score in the high twenties tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (43:36):
If Jordan Love comes out and plays lights out like
did Jordan Love, which he played against Dallas last year,
let's say Eagle's got issues.

Speaker 3 (43:43):
I mean they you know, yeah, I think that.

Speaker 2 (43:45):
I think the Eagles have better players top to bottom
than the Dallas defense did that last year. I think
the Dallas defense is more hyped than Dolls. They have
a couple of difference makers, but a lot of guys
that can't play. And and everything change for the Eagles.

Speaker 4 (44:01):
When that the young cornerback who's been sensational, and I
thought everything changed when the kid from Iowa.

Speaker 3 (44:08):
Came in the game. He's been regien unbelived. That was
after the break. Yeah, he's been great. He was hurt,
he didn't play.

Speaker 2 (44:15):
The first I heard his stat this week, so I'm
going to assume it's right because it was you know,
somebody was reading it. Barkley is averaging four yards before
he gets hit.

Speaker 3 (44:28):
Yeah, it's insane.

Speaker 2 (44:30):
How I mean, just that means the line is he's
he's averaging yeah, four yards before he even gets touched.

Speaker 3 (44:38):
Good luck. How do you stop that? You don't?

Speaker 2 (44:40):
The answer is you don't. Yeah, the answer is nobody did.
I mean, the only time he.

Speaker 4 (44:45):
Got stopped was in the second a half against Washington
when they hurts wasn't in the game.

Speaker 2 (44:51):
And now that it hurts is back. That obviously makes
Sakua that much better.

Speaker 3 (44:54):
Because you gotta cover hurts because he might run. But
here's the thing. Okay, you're the Eagles.

Speaker 2 (45:00):
This guy's been in concussion protocol for two and a
half weeks or whatever.

Speaker 3 (45:03):
Okay, yep, do you run your normal offense? Okay, yeah,
you're in the playoffs.

Speaker 5 (45:09):
Maybe if this was if he came back against Dallas
and you know you can, you're gonna beat that all. Okay,
do you do a toush push if they are fourteen? Now, yes,
you do? Now you still do it? Okay in a
playoff game, and you have to play.

Speaker 2 (45:22):
The chance if he gets hit in the head somehow,
and if you're doing a toush push, you're sticking your head.

Speaker 5 (45:27):
And now, guys, if you're up twenty one, three or fourth,
it's something that I would be concerned about but you
can't play that way.

Speaker 3 (45:34):
But what I'm saying, so the thing about Jailing is
his rushing.

Speaker 2 (45:38):
Ability is what makes part of what makes saquon because
when they do that little thing where he's you know,
I just don't. I think you guys are right. I
think they're going to run their offense. But at some
point you have to be maybe just a little what
the scores a score, But I'm talking about when they
come out, you know, a certain point, then maybe you
don't do certain things.

Speaker 3 (45:58):
But yeah, just play all that you can't. I'll be
honest with you.

Speaker 2 (46:01):
I thought, this is me now, if God forbid Jailing
and not gotten out or whatever, and can you pick
Ittt how to play this week?

Speaker 3 (46:08):
I still think I would have liked the Eagles, Yeah,
just would you would like him more? With Hurts? Oh?

Speaker 2 (46:14):
Absolutely, yes, almost won you a Super Bowl, right, came
that close. He lost by three and he was the
best player in the game.

Speaker 3 (46:21):
And when they needed two points at the end of
the game, they.

Speaker 2 (46:23):
Said, here Jaalen, take the ball and run run over
three Kansas City Chiefs to get in the end zone
running in. I love these people who added but Jone
hurts is in the winner. Huh, Like reallyright here we go.

Speaker 4 (46:32):
Here's a great stat jailing hurts since the BUYE completion
rate sixty nine percent, six in the NFL yards per
attenpt eight and a half third in the NFL TV
interception fourteen to one, first passer rating one fourteen third,
twenty six touchdowns to two turnovers since the bye win.

(46:52):
Seriously over ten and one. It starts the only game
they lost with the game. Well, here's the great thing
about that.

Speaker 2 (46:58):
So they went into the bye weekend, all people were
talking about was Jalens turnovers because going back to the
ten games and the defense was hard on the defense
whatever and then and the Eagles winning that and whatever,
and Jalenes turned it over one time or two times.

Speaker 4 (47:11):
The defensive line went to the coach and said, Yo,
he just spent a lot of money on twenty.

Speaker 3 (47:16):
Six hand on the ball.

Speaker 2 (47:18):
And they had four teams that they were playing coming
out to buy that's stunk. And they could afford to
go out. I said, they're going to be six and
two or five and three at the worst. I guess
they could have lost one of those games. But man,
they didn't play great in some of those.

Speaker 3 (47:30):
Games Cleveland, they played horrible.

Speaker 4 (47:32):
But they got a little and then all of a sudden,
they finished the back end of the season as playing
as well as anybody.

Speaker 3 (47:38):
In the NFL. I think. So it's and to me.

Speaker 5 (47:41):
In order for a team to be a super Bowl team,
and I think this has been the case for a
lot of reacent super Bowl winners, you need good defense
and offense, Like you can't just have one, you can
just be elited something. And the Eagles right now have
a top ten defense at the top ten offense.

Speaker 3 (47:54):
They clear both.

Speaker 5 (47:54):
Ye, so I think they have the top defense. I
think that you've raised right. I think they are they
top and we're like they are. They are one of
those teams like they they are the elite of the elite,
and this is this something green Bay has it too.
So like I am kind of concerned about Green Bay
a little bit, but I think their defense and bigger
moments is definitely not played as well as the Eagles have,

(48:18):
especially against better offense.

Speaker 3 (48:19):
Eagles played Baltimore might played pretty well.

Speaker 2 (48:21):
Now here's one thing I'm a little concerned about tomorrow
a little bit.

Speaker 3 (48:24):
Jalen has n't played three weeks.

Speaker 2 (48:26):
Yeah, oh yeah, they've come out slow, not so much lately,
but for much of the year they came out slow
first quarter.

Speaker 3 (48:34):
I don't want to.

Speaker 2 (48:34):
See green Bay be up like ten nothing early.

Speaker 3 (48:36):
In the second quarter. I don't need to let that happen.

Speaker 5 (48:39):
Well, especially because now you you're in the playoffs. You
can't let that happen against Green Bay. You can't let
that happen against most teams in the playoffs, and especially
if you end up taking on Detroit, can't happen against the.

Speaker 3 (48:49):
Troit So it's it's got You're right, those first quarter things.

Speaker 5 (48:52):
Have got to stop in Minnesota, Minnesota, Bay or Minnesota.

Speaker 2 (48:55):
I know, Donald played like crap. They're a good football team.
If they're a real good they got Jefferson and that
other guy, and their defense is pretty.

Speaker 3 (49:04):
Good also, you know, and Diagles might.

Speaker 2 (49:07):
Never play that, right, I mean, if this thing could
shake out, if if if Washington and the if Eagles
win and Washington loses, the Vikings are going to Detroit
next week.

Speaker 3 (49:19):
Think about that. You're Detroit and you're sitting.

Speaker 2 (49:21):
There going, yeah, we got we got oh, we gotta
play them again.

Speaker 3 (49:27):
So if you're the Eagles, root for.

Speaker 2 (49:30):
Well, first you gotta win which obviously you root for
Washington to lose.

Speaker 4 (49:34):
Other thing about the Eagles defense, one of the reasons
has been so good.

Speaker 3 (49:38):
They're not on the field.

Speaker 2 (49:40):
That's a good point, right, because Barkley. They just control
the whole game with Barkley.

Speaker 4 (49:44):
Yeah, I mean, they just just and the longer the
game goes again, if they play with the lead, it's
almost impossible to beat them under they have to beat
themselves at that point, they have to drop the ball.

Speaker 2 (49:55):
They've got some guys who've never been in games like this.

Speaker 3 (49:58):
I don't think that means.

Speaker 2 (49:59):
The guys get freaked out, but I mean, you know,
they got like three or four young defensive guys.

Speaker 5 (50:03):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (50:03):
And they asked fanjo that this week, and he goes, yeah,
I don't know. You know, they've played big games in
colleges and look, Green Bay's coaches sensational, Yes, he is.

Speaker 3 (50:13):
What what are they seeing that we.

Speaker 2 (50:15):
Aren't because we don't know what they know, and maybe
they see some vulnerabuildings.

Speaker 3 (50:18):
I'm sure we'd probably go back and look at the
Washington film. I try to exploit some things.

Speaker 4 (50:22):
Yeah, for sure, I mean I guess, yeah, I mean,
and look, there's they been dogs before and wan out right,
and they got a young team and they have a
lot of talent, and it's not gonna look if the
Green Bay wins the game, it's not the Jets beating
the Cold No, I mean, they're they're certainly a pologic
playing I just thought about this because I covered one
of these games. Yeah, in two thousand and three, that

(50:45):
was the Freddie Mitchell fourth and four seven.

Speaker 2 (50:48):
That was a wildcard game. Oh no, that might have
been a division game early. It was early in the playway.
And then in twenty ten, green Bay came here. They
were the sixth seed, beat the Eagles. Michael throws the
interception year at the end, and the Packers win, go
on and win the Super Bowl as a sixth seed.

Speaker 3 (51:06):
That was the Aaron Rodgers year.

Speaker 4 (51:08):
Interesting, I forgot they won the Bowl that. Yeah, they
beating the Pittsburgh, the Burg and the Ball.

Speaker 3 (51:15):
Wood Berg would love to get back to the ball.
Eagles minus We're not going to this year. Eagles minus five.
Give me a pick.

Speaker 5 (51:23):
Gosh, it's up, because again, green Bay is playing well
in these games. They're they're just like there's whatever small
things are going on that they can't win them.

Speaker 3 (51:31):
It's going on.

Speaker 5 (51:32):
But eventually though, that threat snaps and the things that
you're doing wrong are eventually going to lead to some
team beating you pretty bad. I think it's this game.
I think the Eagles play extremely well. I like Eagles
in this.

Speaker 3 (51:44):
I want to take the Eagles so bad.

Speaker 2 (51:47):
But I'm going to beat the Contour and I'm just
going to I think I'm just going to take the
Packers on the sense that, like John said, all their
games have been closed, They're probably do to get blown out.
And I and the one thing that scares me a
little bit, Jordan Love, like, I don't know what if
he was out there in the first quarter and all
of a sudden's elbows bothered him. But just to be contrarian,
was it five and a half?

Speaker 3 (52:05):
Five? Yeah? Five five? I I'm gonna take the pack Yeah.

Speaker 4 (52:10):
My theory is this, the Eagles have the best single
unit in the game, their offensive line. They have the
best player in the game in Saint Kwan Barkley. He
said that Green died like Josh Jacobs. I think he's
really good.

Speaker 3 (52:22):
Oh he's a great player.

Speaker 5 (52:24):
Another awesome free agent signing him, Derek Henry Takwon. Barkley
has been amazing.

Speaker 2 (52:28):
Everybody forgets it the guy and bought him for nineteen yards.

Speaker 3 (52:33):
She's so. Josh Jacobs is good.

Speaker 4 (52:36):
The quarterback was great in the playoffs last year, Hurts
goes to the super Bowl. Green Bay's got a good defense,
although there have been times where they've been riddled. The
Eagles defense has been legitimately good for months now.

Speaker 2 (52:52):
Eagles are the logical play here. I'm taking Eagles mind.
There's no reason to take Green Bay. I mean really,
if you look at this game and.

Speaker 4 (53:00):
Their home and the people are gonna be crazy. I mean,
there's some questions from in front. I don't think they're
losing the game.

Speaker 3 (53:07):
Yeah, but if you.

Speaker 4 (53:08):
Get behind his mic said, tend doping and then all
of a sudden or.

Speaker 2 (53:11):
Maybe you get that late that late cover that that door.
But I could see the Eagles if I like, I
could see a double digit wins.

Speaker 3 (53:20):
I see like twenty seven seventeen kind of a game.

Speaker 5 (53:24):
Okay, yeah, yeah, that means the offense probably struggles a
little bit, which there they should defense plays well. Of course,
Jordan Love is still gonna get his Yeah.

Speaker 3 (53:33):
I like that score.

Speaker 4 (53:34):
Yeah, No, I'm thinking that's about where we're gonna get
let me tell you something.

Speaker 2 (53:37):
Yeah, if it comes down to Eagles at Detroit in
the NFC title, I am sitting in front of my TV,
I am not movie for three and a half hours.

Speaker 5 (53:46):
Eagles defense against Detroit's offense is one of the best
heavyweights back a.

Speaker 2 (53:50):
Match, just you know, in Detroit obviously playing at home
and from seventy five thousand people whateverready, But my god,
the Eagles offense against Detroit banged up, and I know
they're getting healthier.

Speaker 3 (54:01):
I get it. But that's that's what I at the game.
I want to see.

Speaker 4 (54:06):
We'll tease the rest of the matchups here, which we'll
get to at the other side of ten o'clock.

Speaker 3 (54:09):
With that, Michael and Golf, they're still out in Hawaii.
Uh So, why would you ever leave Hawaii?

Speaker 4 (54:14):
There is that it's a good point today at four
point thirty as every time they're in the playoffs. Houston
is in the first Saturday game. Chargers now minus two
and a half at Houston Tonight, Ravens minus nine and
a half at home against Pittsburgh. And I'll give you
a Pittsburgh stat You're gonna love this, Mike John This

(54:35):
is actually hard to believe. The last four playoff games
the Steelers have been in. Jacksonville led them twenty one
to nothing, Cleveland led them twenty eight to nothing, Kansas
City led them thirty five to seven, and Buffalo led
them twenty one to nothing. So if somebody's gonna say
the Mike Tomlin theory, well he was the coach for

(54:55):
all those games, and he's been to coach for this
four game losing streak.

Speaker 2 (54:58):
So I'll just throw that's that's almost that's almost impossible, right,
think about that.

Speaker 3 (55:05):
No, it's almost impossible.

Speaker 5 (55:06):
So it's like completely falling apart. Yeah, it's it's crumble,
it's done.

Speaker 3 (55:10):
That's why that number is what it is.

Speaker 4 (55:12):
And the Ravens are missing their best white out se Uh.
Denver is in Buffalo.

Speaker 1 (55:19):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (55:20):
That number has been nine.

Speaker 4 (55:21):
Most of the week at bed Parks. Now it's a
minus eight, So somebody likes Denver.

Speaker 5 (55:26):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (55:26):
Eagles, we've talked about minus five in Tampa Bay tomorrow night,
Tampa Bay minus three against Washington.

Speaker 3 (55:35):
That spread has changed, and.

Speaker 4 (55:37):
For those that care, just like the Eagles of the Packers,
this was the first game of the season, Washington was
in Tampa Bay.

Speaker 3 (55:43):
They got blowing. That's the most interesting game to me.

Speaker 2 (55:45):
The only thing is I don't think you do those
teams get the Super Bowl, so that would make the
Packers Eagles game more in more relevant.

Speaker 3 (55:52):
But I think that's a fascinating game.

Speaker 2 (55:55):
I love May Mayfield and I love with the Washington
quarterback as done incredible.

Speaker 3 (56:01):
So Monday night football and I'll get to this event watching.

Speaker 2 (56:04):
In a minute. But Monday Night football in Arizona now
in Glendale. They obviously moved the game out of Sofi,
although people that know the geography of La Sofi Stateium
is nowhere near these fires.

Speaker 3 (56:14):
I mean not even in the in the general vicinity.
But I get it. People can't get there. You can't
smoke it.

Speaker 4 (56:19):
You can't be having an event like that in this
town right now. It's it's just a nightmare out there.
So that game is in Glendale. Minnesota's minus two and
I am.

Speaker 3 (56:27):
No longer a road game. I don't know who's going
to be there or that's gonna work. There's selling. I
saw the thing on the school.

Speaker 2 (56:33):
Apparently NFL dot com you can go and buy a ticket.
I don't know if like, if you had a ticket
and you live in La and you want to go.

Speaker 3 (56:40):
If I guess is if you lived in LA, you're
getting your money back. No, but some people might want
to actually go to the game. I don't know.

Speaker 2 (56:47):
And tonight's game, the second game you can only watch
on Prime?

Speaker 3 (56:51):
Is that correct? That streaming game?

Speaker 2 (56:53):
I believe that's accurate Amazon Prime. I believe the Ravens
and the Steelers might curR not happy.

Speaker 3 (56:58):
I just don't. I just don't think the NFL needs
to do that.

Speaker 5 (57:01):
And I definitely don't just want to make predictions on
those games. I want I want Super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (57:06):
Weg we got an hour or we got an hour
to talk about what did Michael do? Golfer? When we
get back, and then I'm gonna do something else when
we get back.

Speaker 2 (57:12):
All right, you'll love it. No, it's and that's not
a range. It's just a house cleaning, house keeping there,
all right. So we're through an hour of two.

Speaker 4 (57:20):

Speaker 2 (59:28):
First, well, first, I did finish second last week and
the guy shot thirty five own there to be, which
is fine. They do that over there. You never mentioned Sickers,
and I only bring this up because they played the
Wiz the other night. They did and escape awful. Well,
they didn't basketball and we lost to the Pells. Lost

(59:50):
to the Pells. Zion Williamson suspended by the way. I'm
sick of him. He's I had enough of Zion shows
up late for them, you which was Joe, right, That's
what Joe got called out for right by MAXI, Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:00:03):
Dude, you bait.

Speaker 2 (01:00:05):
Just show up for the plane and apparently it wasn't
his first time or whatever, because that's why they suspended them.
But anyway, sickers, Jesus god, it's almost the season's almost
half over.

Speaker 3 (01:00:15):
Its close, Paul George thing is officially a problem. Oh
and you have four more years.

Speaker 2 (01:00:21):
You're just figuring this out when you sign a thirty
four year old guy or whatever.

Speaker 3 (01:00:25):
Okay to Sony open.

Speaker 2 (01:00:28):
The guys at the top of the leaderboard, I won't
even begin to bore you with because most of them
you want no.

Speaker 3 (01:00:33):
But I'm gonna give you this. The leaders are a
ten under. There's a lot of guys. It's a crowded leaderboard.

Speaker 2 (01:00:38):
Tom kim our Man our Man is three back, he's
tied three eleventh, he's twelve to one. I'm just gonna
throw that would be, you know, on the fact that
he's the best player whose name I know, and his
Decky who won last week, is six back. But he's
forty to one, so you know he's not gonna probably

(01:00:59):
win back to back because they don't do that. But
forty to one on a deck, he might be worth
like a twenty you know, or something, or like Dick says,
if you're gonna do it, do it, go for it,
go for it. Yeah, And then next week they come
back to the mainland. You know what, they're in La soon.
I'm wondering if next week is LA. In the next

(01:01:20):
week or two, I think they're in La So I
don't know. With all the things that are going on
at there, I don't know what the hell that means.
But my god, my heart, you know what I remember,
I went to Hawaii two years ago, like two months
after the fire. What I can't imagine. This is worse.
This is way worse. It's not even and God forbid,

(01:01:40):
what happened in Mally was horrible.

Speaker 3 (01:01:43):
This is worse and it ain't over yet.

Speaker 2 (01:01:46):
And then you California wasn't what like six years ago,
that town paradise, the whole town.

Speaker 3 (01:01:51):
I mean, I don't know how people.

Speaker 2 (01:01:54):
I guess it's the same thing with hurricanes in Florida, right,
you know, they come and.

Speaker 3 (01:02:00):
Walk back and hope your house is there.

Speaker 4 (01:02:01):
But ye, all right, let's start with the games. Saturday,
two days, four to thirty.

Speaker 3 (01:02:08):
Chargers.

Speaker 2 (01:02:09):
Jim Harball done a great job minus two and a
half at Houston which has not really been the same
team they were last year, which is why they're home.

Speaker 3 (01:02:19):
Dog in the playoffs.

Speaker 4 (01:02:22):
John, We'll start with you Chargers minus doing al at
the Texas.

Speaker 5 (01:02:27):
So as I said with Kareem Bay, they are who
they are. They losing close games, they just something's a
little bit missing.

Speaker 3 (01:02:34):
Houston.

Speaker 5 (01:02:34):
They are who they are. They have never looked anything
close to what they were last year. There has not
been a time where I think their offense has been
well constructed or at least well executed, and their defense
is just like hanging on.

Speaker 3 (01:02:48):
It's not a good football team.

Speaker 5 (01:02:49):
It was just a team that was in a really
bad division, took advantage of that bad division, and now
they have to take a Chargers team.

Speaker 3 (01:02:55):
I don't know if the Chargers are that talented.

Speaker 5 (01:02:57):
I don't know how good they are, but it's a
team that has a very very clear identity of what
they want to do. And if that's the case, they're
going up against the Houston team that has no idea
what they're doing. So I like a team that knows
what they want to do.

Speaker 2 (01:03:12):
I would be all over to Chargers because I like hardball.
I like what they've done. Har no reason in the
world to take Houston. So I'm gonna take Houston because no,
I'm serious. Absolutely in my life there are like games
I look at and I'm like, there's no.

Speaker 5 (01:03:26):
Way this year has been Because usually I'm with you
on this stuff. I just like, if everybody's going one way,
why not like the opposite it.

Speaker 2 (01:03:33):
There's no reason why the Chargers. But somebody made a
good point. So if this game we're in LA, the
Chargers will be five and a half point favorites.

Speaker 3 (01:03:41):
Because that seems like a lot to me.

Speaker 2 (01:03:43):
I mean, Houston's not what we thought they were going
to be, but there's still a football TEAMO Stroud can
have a good game.

Speaker 3 (01:03:48):
The defense is in bad. Do I think Houston's gonna win?

Speaker 2 (01:03:52):
Probably? Not probably, But again it's one of those games
I just said there. Neither of these teams are going
to the super Bowl.

Speaker 5 (01:03:57):
So but it's a surprising thing for me this here
is that there it has been very clear that favorites
are like winning and winning at ay you've been the
first three weeks, the first three weeks, Yeah, it's been surprising.

Speaker 2 (01:04:08):
Harrorballs done. But again, Houston was the team before the year.
A lot of people had them being in the Super
Bowl or no, no, And that's what happens.

Speaker 3 (01:04:17):
Sometimes you have that.

Speaker 2 (01:04:18):
Great year where nobody expected you, and then you know,
then you got to come back and do it again.

Speaker 3 (01:04:22):
Yeah, they aren't able to do it again. Hardball has
been great.

Speaker 4 (01:04:26):
I like the Chargers. They're just a better team. I
don't like there's anything complicated about it. It's like Themiko
Ryans did a great job and it looks too simple.

Speaker 3 (01:04:34):
It really does. Yeah, there's just.

Speaker 4 (01:04:35):
Something is just off with Houston has been They want
a horrible division because somebody had to win it.

Speaker 3 (01:04:40):
The Chargers are favorite on the road for eight reasons.

Speaker 2 (01:04:42):
Think about next year, Dick, Yeah, I know you got
the Raiders in that division and they're god awful, but
who knows, maybe they get a good Yeah, the Chiefs,
the Chargers are going to keep getting better the hardball,
that's what he does.

Speaker 5 (01:04:52):
They need more skilled players, but then they Charges need
skilled players. But I think that's something they can have
the rest of it. Denver looks like they at least
got a pulse, you know.

Speaker 3 (01:05:01):
I mean, to have two rookie quarterbacks in the playoffs
in their first year is pretty And the Chiefs went
well fifteen and two. I guess because they lost.

Speaker 2 (01:05:07):
Their Carson Wentz in Baltimore. Carson Wentz on Mike's favorite channel.
Didn't work out that well for Carson. I'm on Prime,
you are Prime. Pittsburgh was just completely collapsed. Uh and
looks bad doing it.

Speaker 3 (01:05:25):
Baltimore. Yeah, playoff woes.

Speaker 4 (01:05:27):
Aside, Lamar's put up another insane, ridiculous to be the
m v P will be forty touchdowns.

Speaker 3 (01:05:34):
He was first.

Speaker 4 (01:05:39):
I thought dan Or Laski met some interesting points about
Josh Allen.

Speaker 3 (01:05:42):
I like Dany.

Speaker 4 (01:05:43):
He was like saying that Lamar is playing with better players,
and there were numbers fine, and.

Speaker 3 (01:05:48):
Lamar's playing with you know, one better. What's wrong with
the world?

Speaker 4 (01:05:52):
Which fine, he said, Derrick Henry and Flowers and all that.
That's fine, that's fine. The number numbers are kind of
overwhel Here's what's wrong with the world we live in.

Speaker 2 (01:06:00):
I was thinking about to stay with the ninety four
Penn State team. It's very simple. You're both champs. You
can't play. The rules won't allow you to play. Here,
here's your trophy.

Speaker 4 (01:06:09):
Yeah, that was that was actually a sick name. That
was the best team I've ever covered ninety sport by.

Speaker 2 (01:06:13):
Like light years, and they would have and I was
never unbelievable how.

Speaker 3 (01:06:17):
Good I was wrong.

Speaker 2 (01:06:18):
I was young then, and I because I think in
my fine and one I think but because Nebraska went
and beat my iron something whatever. Well, if you think Nebraska,
you're an idiot. I just said that you don't know
anything about foot Did I just not say that?

Speaker 3 (01:06:30):
Yes? You did? Has that changed? Yes? Well, I'm not
so sure it has. But you grew up because when
I looked at it, lay was thirty years later.

Speaker 2 (01:06:40):
The point was, if Penn State had played then Nebraska, yeah,
they would have scored thirty five CORRECTSKA would not have
scored thirty five correct And that was the difference. And
that's what I didn't take. But they beat organizact like
twelve in the country because they had to play, and
Nebraska never won a national title.

Speaker 3 (01:06:55):
Off to that point, it was like, let's get it,
but in this case, just get both.

Speaker 2 (01:06:58):
Cosborne had one, he had, Nebraska, he had he had no.
That's why I said, you said Nebraska had Oh I'm sorry, Tom,
just give them both the m v P. What what
the hell is so hard about? So somebody's gonna win
by five votes?

Speaker 3 (01:07:15):
I think Lamar has been better, Like I got, I
get what I get. It so rotten to say, here, Lamar,
here's your third.

Speaker 2 (01:07:22):
I mean one year they gave Keith R Nandez and
Willie Stargele that the coach.

Speaker 3 (01:07:26):
They but they had a vote. The vote ended up tied.
That's what it was.

Speaker 5 (01:07:29):
Yeah, I guess for me is like Josh Allen does
have the amazing plays. He does things off the cups,
so so does Lamar, but lamares. But Lamar is playing
the position at the moment about as efficiently and as
good as I have ever seen it.

Speaker 3 (01:07:47):
Not just like as Lamar is doing it this year.

Speaker 5 (01:07:49):
He is efficiently doing it, passing and run at a
level that I don't.

Speaker 3 (01:07:55):
Know if I have.

Speaker 2 (01:07:55):
Lamar's playing quarterback the way nobody thought Lamar could play.

Speaker 3 (01:07:59):
Yeah, yeah, they thought he's an elite passer. He's really good.

Speaker 2 (01:08:03):
Nobody ever and he hasn't ran for that man. Josh
Allen's ran for more touchdowns.

Speaker 5 (01:08:08):
But again, Lamar was close to without I think in
a nine nine hundred fifty. But I don't think he
was like primarily under this yeraries.

Speaker 2 (01:08:15):
These people were like, well, Josh Allen, if you took
Josh Allen off there, if they're both, if you took either,
I took Jalen Hurts off the Eagles, if I took
Patrick Mahomes off.

Speaker 3 (01:08:23):
The Cannaba key is there?

Speaker 2 (01:08:25):
So oh god, they're both being great and they're probably
going to play each other next week. Won't decide anything
but that it will in a lot of people's minds.
That and and they did play. The Ravens killed him
in Baltimore. Mike's point, Yeah, they slaughtered him.

Speaker 3 (01:08:42):
I mean that could be a hell of a game.

Speaker 5 (01:08:44):
Yeah, Lamar and Lamar is just playing again the position.
I didn't even know if it could be played like
this like a player.

Speaker 3 (01:08:51):
What did Josh do that? What Josh? The knock one?

Speaker 2 (01:08:53):
Josh was kind of the knock one Jaialen for a while.
Just turn the ball over. Yeah, he doesn't do them
anymore perfect years.

Speaker 3 (01:09:00):
And as as the running back, running back?

Speaker 2 (01:09:03):
Do you like your team this? Do you like the
Ravens in this game? I don't see how the Steelers
gonna win. I mean, they just are awful. And you know,
it's funny.

Speaker 4 (01:09:10):
I've been watching the Hard Knocks FC North, which has
been cool. Right with the Steelers and the Ravens. I
mean great rivalries the Bengals and the Browns. And I
listened to Mike Tomlin. I'll tell you what I would
follow Mike Tomlin anyway. He's a brilliant guy.

Speaker 3 (01:09:25):
You know, he's the kind of guy you can't not
be inspired by him. But I think the game has
passed them by. I think they're.

Speaker 2 (01:09:32):
Prehistoric and how they do things if you watch them,
they haven't had an innovative play caller ever in modern
time Arthur Smith.

Speaker 3 (01:09:42):
But he was supposed to be. I mean, that's what
they said was gonna come in.

Speaker 2 (01:09:45):
He's had a quarterback in six or seven eight years
and that's why. But again, I will say one thing
about when you looked at their schedule the end of
the skit, they've lost the good teams and they played.

Speaker 3 (01:09:57):
Those five I'm pretty sure every team that they.

Speaker 2 (01:10:00):
Chiefs, the Ravens, the Bengals, and Eagles, so there's no
shame there. But they've lost the first three by double digits.
I don't know what the Bengals final was. We still
think Cincinnati can make some noise in the playoffs. Okay,
you see what did you see what Travis Kelsey said?

Speaker 3 (01:10:16):
You guys just lost.

Speaker 2 (01:10:17):
The Bengals would getting really like like like we're afraid
of them. Right, Yeah, people think that they lost because
it was irrelevant. They didn't get lost, because right, that's why.

Speaker 5 (01:10:28):
Why would the chiese with the Chiefs trying try and
risk playing pat just to get they're in the right
to Loo went.

Speaker 3 (01:10:38):
There and beat them, and great for joke, and he
almost beat them. And and I don't.

Speaker 2 (01:10:42):
Think the Bengals would have went the Buffalo and won.
Maybe I'm wrong.

Speaker 3 (01:10:46):
Defense, that's why their defensive ordinary got fired five minutes.

Speaker 2 (01:10:49):
By the way, win some games in September one and
he always out with that would always help.

Speaker 3 (01:10:53):
It's just Baltimore minus nine and a half. Mike, you
got to pick this.

Speaker 2 (01:10:56):
Guy, like he said, Pittsburgh for years was the team
that gave lamar Or the game that they beat him.
Remember Russell Wilson fumbles on the three yard line. If
he doesn't fumble there, that might have been a tight game.
Nine of the last ten Steeler Raven games have been
decided by less than a touchdown. The one that wasn't,
I guess was the last one. Again, there's no reason

(01:11:21):
in the world to take the Steelers but I'm gonna
take the steels because the division game, it's a playoff,
gets weird. I'm taking all the weird, the weird plays
that make no sense.

Speaker 3 (01:11:31):
You know, it's funny. I usually do that in this weekend.

Speaker 5 (01:11:33):
I'm not.

Speaker 3 (01:11:33):
That's fine.

Speaker 2 (01:11:36):
Yeah, Look, Baltimore is clearly better and they've been playing well.

Speaker 3 (01:11:39):
They're playing well.

Speaker 2 (01:11:41):
Their defense, which was not very good the first month
of the season, one of the best. I think Flowers
being out does hurt factor. Fact if Pittsburgh can they
got to keep the game, they can keep the running
back kind of in chat.

Speaker 3 (01:11:54):
Yeah, they got a shot. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:11:55):
Now, look, Detroit has some great Cam Hayward's a Hall
of Fame player, what is absolutely a Hall of Fame player.

Speaker 3 (01:12:03):
But Russell Wilson his Russell Wilson. Russell Wilson. I don't
like their design of their offense.

Speaker 5 (01:12:13):
You might have to throw them in a little bit
in some ways, just add some creativity because the way
what Russell Wilson arguing is you got to throw down field,
like you got to make a big play, throw downfield,
and Russell Wilson's not doing that. So if he doesn't
do it, then you really don't Most The.

Speaker 2 (01:12:28):
Most likely scenario here is Baltimore thirty one Pittsburgh Tech.

Speaker 3 (01:12:32):
That's the most that's about. I think.

Speaker 5 (01:12:36):
I think Baltimore is gonna put up thirty points. I
think Pittsman is going to really struggle.

Speaker 2 (01:12:39):
The guy I wanted to take instead of the defensive
lineman they took.

Speaker 3 (01:12:44):
The safety from Notre Dame is a.

Speaker 2 (01:12:46):
Discussion for player of the.

Speaker 3 (01:12:49):
And apparently they they changed where he was at on
the field.

Speaker 2 (01:12:53):
That's free safety instead of a strong sitfy. Their defense
has been championships worthy. I mean, it's that teams that
might be the best team in football the way they play.

Speaker 5 (01:13:02):
One of them, at least one of them, right, at
least one of them. That is a great, great team
that can win the super Bowl. Three in the AFC,
three in the NFC.

Speaker 3 (01:13:12):
That's it. Yes, nobody else is winning.

Speaker 5 (01:13:15):
The Ravens, Buffalo, Chiefs, Eagles, Lions, Minnesota.

Speaker 3 (01:13:18):
That's it. And and the Ravens are obviously one of
those teams. I'm taking Baltimore. I don't care how many points. Yeah,
I can't. I can't win an offense that back.

Speaker 5 (01:13:28):
The offense has been so bad there is no chance
I can think. It's like the Eagles thing like, oh
their offensively fine last year. That okay, maybe they're getting playoffs.
The offensive the offenses is what it is now. It's
a bad offense. And there's no way they're gonna put
up points at least enough against the Ravens defense.

Speaker 2 (01:13:45):
And I think there's other things going on in the building.
There's just something off about Pittsburgh right now.

Speaker 4 (01:13:50):
Russell Wilson, when you watch him on the hard knocks,
he seems what's the right word and authentic would be.

Speaker 3 (01:13:58):
Yeah, he's always come off that way.

Speaker 2 (01:14:00):
Seems weird to me. And he's new there. It's a
different live he was here at the end of his
cast off. He's playing for Well, he's getting his money
from Denver.

Speaker 4 (01:14:09):
He's had a phenomenal career. He's probably going to the
Hall of Fame. And he should, I mean win the
Super Bowl, should have won two.

Speaker 2 (01:14:14):
And you had a great first six weeks. Should have
want to hand the ball. That was the stupidest call
in the history of the NFL. No, I'm serious, there's
no there's no other way to look at him, sir.
But and you know he I think they just hit
a wall, is what I think. I think the Steelers
just offense. Did they just hit a wall? Did and

(01:14:34):
and then? And can you get out of that wall?
I probably not on a sudden one o'clock in Buffalo,
whether it be weather, but really shouldn't be a fan
not relevant. Buffalo now down to minus eight, was minus
nine most of the week.

Speaker 3 (01:14:51):
Denver.

Speaker 4 (01:14:52):
There's nobody would have said Denver it's gonna be in
the playoffs when the season started double I mean, no
chance that they're making the playoffs at give Sean Payton,
who would did a really really good job with a
rookie quarterback bo Knicks. But Buffalo has been money in
these games in the in the run they're running the
playoffs in recent years.

Speaker 2 (01:15:11):
John will start with you. Buffalo minus eight home against Denver.

Speaker 5 (01:15:16):
They're undefeated at home. They have what is maybe gonna
be the MVP of the MVP runner up. Everything that
maybe you've thought about Buffalo coming into this season. Maybe
the roster's not good enough, they take a step back.
They've been just as good, if not better than they
have been in previous years. I just think that's hard

(01:15:36):
to bet against at home, against the rookie quarterback who's
played well, Like give them all the credit of the world, hookie.

Speaker 3 (01:15:41):
I didn't think he was gonna play.

Speaker 2 (01:15:42):
This quarterbacks historically in their first playoff game next to
the Jade and Daniels, which we'll get to that.

Speaker 3 (01:15:47):
Yeah, it's just you know it is doesn't.

Speaker 5 (01:15:50):
Mean you can't play especially right, Oh yeah, absolutely you
can still. But if I'm gonna put some hard earned
dollars on it, a rookie quarterback who I.

Speaker 3 (01:15:57):
Still think like I have a little bit of reservations.

Speaker 5 (01:16:00):
But going into this environment against that team, I just
don't see them being able to play a clean enough
game to keep it close. Like they can play well,
but the problem is do they make mistakes? Are they
a bit all over the place? That's where I think
Buffalo ends up kind of covering this.

Speaker 2 (01:16:16):
Yeah, Denver's defense is terrific, I mean, like really really good,
but rookie quarterback, I'm not buying their offense against the
over undering this John the under my forty eight that
might be worth looking at.

Speaker 3 (01:16:29):
What are you thinking here, Mike on the side, what
do you like everything? John said?

Speaker 2 (01:16:33):
I mean again, I'm being the contrarian this week, and
could Denver keep it close?

Speaker 3 (01:16:38):
Yeah? Why not? You know things happen.

Speaker 2 (01:16:40):
But I don't see Buffalo losing the game. So it's
just a matter or they're gonna you know, they're gonna
win by more. The interesting thing is gonna be so
next week, if it's Lamar playing Josh, one of them's
going to go to Kansas City in old likelihood with
a chance to get to the super and has to
knock one both those guys, like you've never been.

Speaker 3 (01:16:56):
To a super Bowl? Yeah, either of them.

Speaker 2 (01:16:58):
So one of them is going to probably at least
have the chance to go play Mahomes and I think
they got a shot.

Speaker 3 (01:17:05):
I mean, you know, so if he gets that far.

Speaker 2 (01:17:08):
I love Kansas City because they're Kansas City and they
do what they do.

Speaker 3 (01:17:11):
But man, I wonder that's another game and when just
sit in front of my TV and watch.

Speaker 4 (01:17:15):
Yeah, that would be fun. I'm gonna take Buffalo minus
the eight. I just don't have enough faith in our
rookie quarterback are on the road in the playoffs that
Denver's overachieved. These kind of teams rarely win in the playoffs.
Phenomenal coaching job. I couldn't name five players on Denver's team.
I don't even know who they're running.

Speaker 2 (01:17:36):
The quarterback's real good, right John, Yeah, Pats, he's like.

Speaker 3 (01:17:41):
And obviously their defense is good.

Speaker 4 (01:17:43):
I know Bone fixes the quarterback, but they just don't
have a lot of high profile guys. But it tells
you they've done a very good job coaching out there.
But I will take Buffalo. We already talked about the
Eagles game. Obviously, Sunday at eight o'clock Sunday Night Football.
I assume this is on NBC. I was thinking this
would be the Eagles game. I was a little surprised
that Eagles didn't get the Sunday night slid Green Bay

(01:18:04):
the Eagles rather than Washington Tampa Bay.

Speaker 5 (01:18:07):
Maybe Fox at the first choice.

Speaker 2 (01:18:10):
Yeah, maybe Fox at that choice. What they got the
Eagles game. I don't know how the Eagles Packers is
definitely more Jaydon Daniels, but I don't hate the four
thirty timeslot.

Speaker 3 (01:18:20):
That's fine, yeah, right for me.

Speaker 4 (01:18:23):
I'm not sure what the pecking order, who gets to
choose game, or how that worked exactly anyway, Washington at
Tampa Bay.

Speaker 3 (01:18:30):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (01:18:30):
Jaydon dans has been awesome. He's gonna be the rookie
of the year. He should be. Dan Quinn's done a
great job. They played in Week one.

Speaker 4 (01:18:36):
Tampa crushed him, Baker Mayfield, Mike Evans, high powered offense.
They'll'll start blitzing when they come out of the locker room.
It'll be a scene. Here's how I look at Washington defense.

Speaker 3 (01:18:48):
Not very good. All right, So Tampa is gonna score. Uh.

Speaker 2 (01:18:51):
Also, they remind me of the Giants two years ago
and the Vikings three years ago. They won every close game.
They won miracle after miracle after miracle. Those teams never
went in the playoffs ever, ever, ever, ever. This is
the game I like the most all weekend. I love
Tampa Bay. I think they're gonna crush wash it.

Speaker 3 (01:19:10):
What's what's the over on this game? John?

Speaker 2 (01:19:13):
Yeah, boy, I might take a look. But yeah, I
agree with everything Dick said. I think Baker Mayfield is
one of the great stories, just how he has resurrected
his career. Him and Mike Evans are every bit like
the guys in Cincinnati there. I mean, they're the same
kind of thing. I don't think he's just good. He's
not as good as he's not, But I mean Mike
Evans is good as no, right, That's what I mean.

(01:19:35):
Mike Evans there I mean, if they had the guy
that got hurt from Penn State, right, the guy got
if they had him, I mean whatever, But I agree.

Speaker 3 (01:19:46):
I think Washington has been a.

Speaker 2 (01:19:47):
Great story, absolutely, and Daniels will probably make a couple
of plays.

Speaker 3 (01:19:51):
You know, it's everybody and whatever.

Speaker 2 (01:19:53):
But I think Baker they've been on a pretty good
little role lately, and I think he they're they're gonna
put I think points are gonna go on the board
in this.

Speaker 3 (01:20:02):
Ton of points.

Speaker 2 (01:20:02):
I don't think this is going to be a I
might look at the over, but I would definitely lean
towards the Bucks.

Speaker 4 (01:20:09):
I wasn't thrilled with how they played against New Orleans
last week.

Speaker 3 (01:20:12):
You know, I thought they should have just run. Those
things happened sometimes.

Speaker 4 (01:20:14):
Yeah again, but you're playing against a no, you're right,
a dead team. That surprised me. Yeah, it turned out
they didn't even need to win because Atlanta lost.

Speaker 3 (01:20:22):
They didn't know that. Yeah, just like, what are we doing?

Speaker 4 (01:20:24):
But having said that, Tampa's got a lot of guys
who have been in big games.

Speaker 3 (01:20:27):
The coach has.

Speaker 4 (01:20:28):
Been defensive coordinator on a Super Bowl team.

Speaker 2 (01:20:31):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (01:20:32):
They won the first round of the playoffs easily against
the Eagles last year gave the Lions a hell of
a game in the next round.

Speaker 3 (01:20:39):
I give I love Tampa Bay here.

Speaker 4 (01:20:42):
Baker Mayfield is one of, as Mike just said, one
of the great stories in the NFL.

Speaker 3 (01:20:46):
I'm given to three. As I said, John, what are
you doing it?

Speaker 5 (01:20:49):
I think I would also go with Tampa And the thing.
The stuff is, Washington's offense is also playing really well,
and I don't know about Tampa's defense. The what I
what I like about Tampa though, is they are multi
dimensional offense.

Speaker 3 (01:21:03):
They can do a lot.

Speaker 5 (01:21:04):
It's not just Baker Mayfield. Baker Mayfield's story. Irving has
been a game changer for their offense, not only the
running game, but in the passing game as well.

Speaker 3 (01:21:13):
I just think there's so many ways they.

Speaker 2 (01:21:15):
Canna happy Mayfield made last week the little lateral de
bucket for like a.

Speaker 1 (01:21:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:21:22):
I just think Tampa Bay's offense to me, finds a
little bit more consistency. They have great star players. I mean,
Mike Evans is unguardable, I mean, one of the great
wide receivers ever in NFL history and still playing really well.
But this this running back situation thing and Liam Cohen's
offense too. That's a good offense. He's gonna get a
head coaching job, I think, at least in this cycle,

(01:21:44):
or he's gonna be really close. But it's the kind
of offense that I think it's gonna give Washington.

Speaker 2 (01:21:48):
You think Cleveland would like to have Baker back right now?
Did you see what happened to the sea? Look winning again,
he's done.

Speaker 5 (01:21:58):
If this is if the circle of Helford is on,
Watson is rough string his achilles every three.

Speaker 4 (01:22:02):
Months, and so yeah, you're right, So be it final
game and then we'll get to a break and look
college hoops on the on the on the network a
little later today, rather fascinating game with the Garden tonight
for those research in Villanova Wildcats playing at big.

Speaker 5 (01:22:16):
With an interesting game. I don't like the spot. It's
a it's a rough spot to them, but that's one
you know what good teams are gonna Yeah, we'll get
to that's an interesting Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:22:24):
In the Garden against Sint John's tonight, there were like
three thousand tickets left.

Speaker 4 (01:22:28):
Beatino was screaming at his fans to buy the rest
of the tickets. I'll tell you you might buy him
as Villadeva fans they love to go to.

Speaker 3 (01:22:33):
The is a really interesting game.

Speaker 2 (01:22:36):
They're not into this team yet, so it's weird. So
Monday night football now in Glendale, right. They moved the
game out of LA for obvious reasons.

Speaker 4 (01:22:44):
UH Minnesota, which has also been one of these shocking
stories of the season, minus two and a half against
the Rams, which kind of which kind of at a
mid season run.

Speaker 3 (01:22:54):
And then kind of faded at the end.

Speaker 4 (01:22:55):
UH Minnesota played right through the tape, lost to Detroit,
finding Detroit, Detroit just bas John will start with you.

Speaker 3 (01:23:02):
Minnesota minus do and a.

Speaker 5 (01:23:06):
Yeah, I think Rams offense is showing signs that they
aren't extremely talented. It's just they're getting buy off of
really good play caller, quarterback, a couple of wide receivers,
but offensive lines really bad. I don't think they run
the ball that well, and they haven't scored a lot
of points. They've been awful since that Buffalo game. So
I think Minnesota's gonna bounce back. Defense is definitely gonna

(01:23:29):
bounce back, I think, and Sam Donald, there's been ups
and downs, there's been some bad games. Certainly that was
a bad game against Detroit, but that hasn't. I guess
piled on. It's not been that. It's steamrolled where Sam
Donald is one bad game and then the rest are
really bad.

Speaker 3 (01:23:44):
He's been able to bounce back. He's been able to
have some good games, and I think.

Speaker 2 (01:23:46):
He bounces back here, Mike, I'm gonna tell you, if
Sam has a bad game and they lose, he's cost
himself a lot of money.

Speaker 4 (01:23:53):
Yeah, he is.

Speaker 2 (01:23:53):
Doubt I have all the respect. I love Stafford. I've
always liked Stafford, the receivers he's got. But I think
this is Minnesota, and I don't know how much not
playing in LA affects either team. I don't, I don't.
I mean Minnesota was getting on a plane and going somewhere.
If anything, it probably helps them a little. I would
think it helps them. Right, they're no longer playing on
the tips. I think if if if Minnesota can't cover

(01:24:17):
the three here, I mean they they're fifteen, they've been
the better, and I don't mean they're gonna blow them out.

Speaker 3 (01:24:23):
It could be like a seven point game. So Stafford
scares me a little bit.

Speaker 2 (01:24:27):
If I was gonna play the game, I'm gonna play
that Donald comes back.

Speaker 3 (01:24:30):
And plus Minnesota's defense is good.

Speaker 2 (01:24:34):
And like you said, John, they've been having issues running
the ball and and and you said their lying, ain't
that all that? Well, Leslie Fraser is gonna do something.
He ain't gonna let Matt Stanford sit back there and throw.
You know, he's gonna he's gonna try anyway.

Speaker 3 (01:24:47):
So he's gonna be aggressive. Brian flores But yeah, I'm sorry,
I'm sorry. Yeah, I'm sorry.

Speaker 5 (01:24:51):
What Leslie Fraser was. I mean, yeah, Brian Floreses is
really aggressive. I mean their defense played pretty well against Detroit.
They weren't the problem.

Speaker 3 (01:25:00):
No, he was the problem.

Speaker 4 (01:25:02):
He was He was brutal. He just it was to
the moment got too big for him. He couldn't handle it. Look, Minnesota,
there's been a better team all year. They playing at Dome.

Speaker 3 (01:25:11):
Now they're playing in a dome, they're not playing on
the other team's home field. They're better anyway. I hate
to take all the favorites, but I'm taking all the favorites.

Speaker 2 (01:25:22):
Marks the coach of the year or is the guy
in Detroit the coach of the year Kevin O'Connell.

Speaker 3 (01:25:27):
To me, it's there's two possibilities. What's too O'Connor or Harball.

Speaker 5 (01:25:33):
They would be my gush, Jim's done it, Jim or
John Jim Jim. Okay, yeah I thought so, Jim, Jim's
done it. Awesome jobsolute, what what that organization was with
Staley and what the state they were in when they
he left, when they fired him, losing organization, They felt
like everything was falling apart. They couldn't. I just looked
like structurally that organization was like a mess. And then

(01:25:57):
Hardball comes in like everything.

Speaker 4 (01:25:58):
They're going nuts in Chicago because they could have blown
up Averfluis and hired Jim Harbo.

Speaker 3 (01:26:03):
They screwed up completely where he played.

Speaker 2 (01:26:05):
But you know what, I don't know if Harbor would
have chose out over the Chargers Parson circumstance. And I'll
say your and l I do not disagree with usually
the guy in Detroit's fifteen and two, he lost his
whole defense at one point or another, an excellent coaching game.

Speaker 3 (01:26:22):
I mean, I love the guy in Minnesota. I love Harball.
How about the guy here?

Speaker 2 (01:26:27):
Yeah, I think the guy here doesn't get any credit great,
I think awesome, yeah whatever, But man, I mean you
could make a case. I don't think Harbor is going
to get it just because they're ten.

Speaker 4 (01:26:36):
Mis Donald's going to get it because they were picked
to win six games and they won fourteen going back
to nobody exactly.

Speaker 3 (01:26:43):
Yeah, that's fine. Detroit was supposed to be good, correct,
We didn't know they'd be this good that way.

Speaker 4 (01:26:48):
Minnesota, Minnesota plus eight games over pretecting the number of wins.

Speaker 3 (01:26:52):
That's that's a coach in your situation. Did they pay
you double that?

Speaker 2 (01:26:54):
Like if you bet if you took Detroit over six,
I mean Minnesota over which you could.

Speaker 3 (01:26:59):
Have tease them up though, Yeah, how about that.

Speaker 4 (01:27:04):

soccer players just went down the side. Sorry, you've been
definitely five minutes. He's not. That's that's soccer is that
will happen as long as I now going to you KNOWLP,
he's gonna score a goal in three minutes from now,
as long as it's not the most south. It was

(01:29:04):
not good.

Speaker 4 (01:29:06):
My liver pools in front of and everything at the moment,
as they're halfway through the Premier League season and on
top of the Champions League.

Speaker 3 (01:29:15):
So little six Ers, before we get into the college,
you didn't even know Joe was hurt. No, I knew
he was hurt. I was just a message. Okay.

Speaker 4 (01:29:24):
So, as six Ers, after losing it home to the
Pals last night, are at the moment four and a
half games out of the last playoff spot, which is Indiana,
which the last playing or play playoff.

Speaker 3 (01:29:38):
They are two games out of the play in at
the moment.

Speaker 4 (01:29:41):
The Bulls are at eighteen and twenty the six Ers
are fifteen and twenty one.

Speaker 3 (01:29:45):
And your schedule gets a little tougher coming up, it does.

Speaker 4 (01:29:48):
We'll mention their schedule coming up, and they've had not
a particularly hard schedule recently. Now they're at the Magic
tomorrow night. Bankera just came had thirty last night. They
host the Thunder Tuesday, they host the Knicks. Wednesday, they're
at the Pacers. Saturday, they're at the Bucks. Sunday, they're

(01:30:09):
at the Nuggets. Tuesday they host the Cavaliers.

Speaker 3 (01:30:13):
Do you like that schedule? Monday? They could be like
sixteen and twenty seven that they could lose every one
of those goods. They won't be could they could? They
Are there any back to backs in that stretch? Yeah?
The Sixers came out this weekend base We said Joe's
might be playing.

Speaker 4 (01:30:28):
In some back to back Thunder and the Knicks back
to back home games Tuesday and Wednesday. Pacers in the
Bucks on the road back to back Saturday Thunder Knicks
back to back is wild. Yeah, and then after they
get the Bucks they get to go to Denver in altitude,
and then the Cavaliers come here.

Speaker 3 (01:30:47):
Well, Joe will want to play because he wants playing
against Jokies. Do they want a game during that stretch?

Speaker 2 (01:30:52):
Well, that's a dick to say they could. Technically, I'll
be a dog and tell you what. I'm going to
be generous. I'm gonna give him two wins. I don't
know how, what, where, or why. I'm telling you, John,
they could be ten twelve games under five hundred.

Speaker 3 (01:31:06):
And as Mike just pointed out, it's no longer early.
It's almost Missy. Cleveland has played thirty seven games.

Speaker 2 (01:31:13):
They're four from the from when this stretches over to
you just mentioned, they'll be welcome in the second part
of season.

Speaker 3 (01:31:19):
Sixers have played thirty six games at this point, UH.

Speaker 4 (01:31:22):
Cleveland, for those PEG attaching, is thirty three and four,
six and a half clear of the Celtics, nine clear
of the Knicks, twelve and a half clear of the Bucks,
and the Magic. Indiana's thirteen back. By the way, it
just turned out the Tyrese Haliburton started off terrible. This
year's hurt, and he's playing much better. Miami with the
Jimmy Butler fiasco, is still seventh. Detroit having an unbelievable

(01:31:47):
bounce back season is five hundred.

Speaker 2 (01:31:49):
They have a bid Injuried oh one. I thought absolutely
one of their good players got hurt. Unfortunately, Atlanta, I
don't know how they're five hundred, but they are in
the West. I hate Atlanta. Yeah, I hate Tray Young.
I mean I don't hate him. No, I don't hate
him personally, I just the whole thing about him. Yeah,
I do understand that.

Speaker 4 (01:32:10):
Uh Detroit, Kate Cunningham's having a great year of the
player you're talking about, Jade and Ivy player from Purdue.

Speaker 3 (01:32:15):
Not sure how long Jayden is out for, but yeah,
it didn't sound good. Yeah, pretty significant is and didn't
Houston just lose a player too?

Speaker 2 (01:32:22):
I thought that I do maybe maybe in the West,
Oklahoma city which everybody expected to be good, has maybe
been even better than that.

Speaker 3 (01:32:30):
Thirty one and six.

Speaker 2 (01:32:32):
Six clear of there are only two behind Cleveland, Gret
sick clear of Houston.

Speaker 4 (01:32:37):
And by the way, we're all the process people out there.
Houston is doing this the right way. They didn't have
to do all the what did they do? They made
smart draft choices. They got younger, more athletic. The Sixers
are getting older and less athletic. And you want to
know something else, Yeah, they got a coach. Yeah no,
obviously I.

Speaker 3 (01:32:57):
Know why Brett was here, but it was here to
get him through those three bad years a row.

Speaker 4 (01:33:01):
But Houston is six to six back Memphis now with
John Moran backs seven back, Denver nine back.

Speaker 3 (01:33:09):
But they look a little older. Uh, Dallas nine and
a half.

Speaker 2 (01:33:13):
But injuries Luca Lakers, I mean they're in the playoffs,
but does anybody try not only Luca Kyriees hurt.

Speaker 3 (01:33:20):
Yeah, it's not good Lakers in sixth.

Speaker 2 (01:33:22):
Minnesota, which made one of the worst trades in modern history,
is seventh.

Speaker 4 (01:33:27):
The Clippers, which had been doing well and like five hundred.
Lately they're an eight. Sacramento, which is actually played better
with the new coach, is five hundred along with Golden State.
San Antonio is a half game out of the play
in Phoenix with all those great players they play in
not good, no no more.

Speaker 3 (01:33:46):
Titles for Denver. They're done. I believe so well. They
they had Game seven against Minnesota one.

Speaker 2 (01:33:52):
They were up to twenty twenty and they blew the
second at home, and they gave the guy and they would.

Speaker 3 (01:33:57):
Have beaten Dallas. They matched up great with Dallas guy,
and they have they mess up good with Boston.

Speaker 2 (01:34:02):
I mean, I'm not saying they would have beat Boston, right,
but they were the one team in the league that
actually like matched up with Boston yep. I mean, and
you know John Marin has they've been they've been playing.
There's a lot of people to think that's a team
that could like if somebody's gonna upset somebody, that could
be the team again. That one of the many issues
with this sixer scroup. Obviously, the injuries have been a problem.

(01:34:22):
Nobody knows what mb It's doing or when he's gonna
do it, other than MAXI.

Speaker 3 (01:34:26):
They're just old, older.

Speaker 2 (01:34:29):
But you knew that when they made Try to tell
people that, but you didn't mention Golden State man, Golden
State ten. There, they're tenth. They're right, but they're they're struggling. Yeah,
they have one of the great players in history.

Speaker 4 (01:34:42):
And but and an older Draymond Green is just going out, yeah,
closed lining people at this point.

Speaker 3 (01:34:48):
So I don't know that Phoenix thinks too. Yeah, Phoenix
is not. I think we will look back when Arable.

Speaker 2 (01:34:53):
Trade they made, the McHale Bridges trade turned out to
be his title for the title. That Golden State one
in twenty two was like a gift off.

Speaker 3 (01:35:00):
Yeah, it was like that. It's one final.

Speaker 2 (01:35:01):
It was one final Steph Curry yep, and God blessed him.
He's going to go down as one of ten greatest players.
Probably his final gift is the Olympics stuff. Yeah, oh
oh my god.

Speaker 3 (01:35:11):
Yes, legendary even for him. It was one of the
all time great that's a good way of putting it.
Legendary even for him.

Speaker 2 (01:35:18):
I mean, come on, didn't bang and you know what,
Durant's wide open, Lebron's wide open.

Speaker 3 (01:35:24):
I'm taking I take it.

Speaker 2 (01:35:25):
Wasn't he falling away at one time from the twenty
six and I'll take one more.

Speaker 4 (01:35:28):
It's a terrible shot for everybody in the history of
the world except me. I'll make it good, any good,
because that's who he is in life.

Speaker 3 (01:35:34):
You see went the other night he was two for
fourteen from three. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:35:37):
No, that will happen on occasion, not very many occasions,
but it will happen all right. Tonight in New York
on our air, the Wildcats coming off their biggest win
of the Kyle Neptune era. We would all agree, beating
Yukon at the Ski Lodges the other night Yukon was
helpful when Alice Caravan had a terrific player brickstre free

(01:35:58):
throws at Say Johns.

Speaker 3 (01:36:00):
Saint John's minus six and a half.

Speaker 4 (01:36:02):
Saint John's playing well with Speaking of legends, with a
legendary coach, Mike, what are we thinking the Wildcats are?

Speaker 3 (01:36:10):
Their offense is sensation.

Speaker 2 (01:36:12):
I mean, I'm thinking of one of the best three
point shooting to Dixons still leading the country and scor
leading the country, which is amazing.

Speaker 3 (01:36:17):
Their defense is below average.

Speaker 2 (01:36:20):
The last time a Philadelphia player was it Lionel let
the country in scoring they never let the country.

Speaker 5 (01:36:24):
Yeah, they're defense is below average Philadelphia playing bo bo
Kimball and hand gathers.

Speaker 3 (01:36:29):
Okay, but for for a Philophie.

Speaker 2 (01:36:31):
Team, I don't have any idea with I would. I
don't know anybody for this. No, maybe not Bill Milk Kimball.
I mean they were the leading scorers that year when.

Speaker 3 (01:36:39):
He was the leading scorers of junior bow has seen there. Okay, okay, Mike,
what are you thinking? Where are the Wildcats? This is
what I think.

Speaker 2 (01:36:46):
I think they had to win one of these two. Yep,
it would have made it. And you even said that
when we were talking they won the one, and this
is this is greedy. This is a bonus if. And
I don't think they're going to win because it's rick
and it's a there and all that kind of thing.
But if they were to win this game, I think
on Monday they would probably be in the tournament or
very close.

Speaker 3 (01:37:07):
Put this, they'd be very close.

Speaker 5 (01:37:08):
To me.

Speaker 3 (01:37:08):
Two wins that would get you into a tournament for sure.

Speaker 2 (01:37:11):
And there's still a long way to go. I mean
we've got another six weeks or whatever in this thing.
And for Kyle Neptune and I know there are people
rooting against some people rooting for him. I want, you know,
get into the tournament. You'll get it, you'll get an extension.
They'll give you a couple of years, probably, I would guess.
And you know, I felt good for him, for the

(01:37:33):
staff and and look Howard, I know all those guys. Yeah,
you know, I'm rooting for him now that I'm out
of this. But I think there are some people that
they would rather have another I got it. But here's
Villanova's problem.

Speaker 4 (01:37:49):
Lose to Columbia, Yeah, lose to Sanchez, lose the bad
Virginia team played Maryland well, lost by a point unfortunately,
but they do have the win over Cincinnati, which is
a decent team.

Speaker 3 (01:38:01):
That's they're only not good non con.

Speaker 2 (01:38:03):
So it's just it's really they're gonna tell me once
the good wins outweigh the bad losses when the Kings, Yeah,
ultimately you need about four or five really good wins.

Speaker 5 (01:38:14):
And that's all point they're gonna Yukon is finally the
big like splash winning, right, So can they beat me?

Speaker 2 (01:38:21):
Rayton's going to be coming here, Marquet's going to be coming.
Question is can they beat somebody good on the road?
And then win some games in the in the Big
East Tournament, finishing that they're gonna need to finish in
the top.

Speaker 4 (01:38:31):
Four in the league because they got nothing in the
non conference other than Cincinnati, and that's not enough.

Speaker 3 (01:38:36):
So let's see what they got coming up.

Speaker 2 (01:38:37):
Let me ask you a question right now today, and
I'm not looking at Joe Lenarth, where do you think
they would be like at least ten out so about eighty? Yeah,
what they'd be nowhere, they'd be not okay in the haunts,
they're not even in So for us to even sit
here right.

Speaker 4 (01:38:50):
Now, and okay, so there's Saint John's tonight at Xavier Tuesday, winnable.
Xavier's got major injuries or nine and seven probably is
having a bad year.

Speaker 2 (01:39:01):
Is here?

Speaker 4 (01:39:02):
Georgetown resuscitated absolutely with Archbishop Ryan's Thomas Sorber from right
down the road here having a phenomenal coach. Yes he
can you can out. Then here's the one.

Speaker 3 (01:39:13):
Here's the one Friday, January twenty fourth at Marquette. You
can win that game? That's worth three games. Yeah, that's huge.

Speaker 4 (01:39:22):
Then greatness here at the Paul, I mean they stink
like always. Xavier's here, winnable, Saint John's at the Ski Lodge.
That's winnable at Providence. There's another one that's worth three
games at Yukon. Then Marquette is here. Where was the
one you said he's worth three games at Yukon? Oh yeah, yeah, February,
middle of February. I'm telling you, Marquette here, Seaton from

(01:39:43):
what you just read, yep. Now, if they don't.

Speaker 2 (01:39:46):
Screw up, yep, and maybe get that one or two.
And I'm not saying that, Marqutte. You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (01:39:52):
They could put themselves into the picture. Let's just put
that one.

Speaker 5 (01:39:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:39:56):
The good thing about being in a league like the biggest, Yes,
even if you screw up the nine conference, which they did,
and they weren't ready. And I have this contention, And
I actually talked to Mark Jackson, the former villaneov ads
now at Northwestern. It was going to be on the
committee this year, but it's no longer on the county
because they already had a big ten representative when.

Speaker 3 (01:40:12):
He went to Northwestern. He's out, I said, Mark.

Speaker 4 (01:40:15):
I said, the committee needs to throw out this whole
nonsense of games in November December matter as much as
January February March.

Speaker 3 (01:40:21):
Because of the transfer portal, you don't know who the
hell anybody is. And so Villanova had transfers, they have gotten.

Speaker 4 (01:40:28):
They have now assimilated all that Wooga Poplars playing great.

Speaker 5 (01:40:31):
Yep, he's going to a big difference. This is not
the same team that lost to Virginia and Cologne.

Speaker 2 (01:40:36):
No wider are never going to do that because then
you'd be throwing out the non conference part of the schedule.
But it's what you're why the committee is moronic. They
shouldn't have done it anyway. But nowadays you can't evaluate
anybody till January first, but we do it. They're gonna say,
okayf Villanova did well in the biggiest let's a second.
But then they'll say, okay, but when they were and
I think a lot of we're going to get the

(01:40:57):
best teams in the tournament. Unfortunately they don't do that.
I'm not disagreeing with anything you said to me.

Speaker 3 (01:41:03):
It's like in football, like like Notre Dame for instance.

Speaker 2 (01:41:06):
And again, now we have a twelve team player, but
if you lose a game on August the thirty first,
or the first game, yep, you know, okay, But that
was then, and but in college football, they all count
because that's the way college football is. But to me,
like if North Carolina loses a game on November to
twenty eighth.

Speaker 5 (01:41:23):
Yeah, I mean, you know, and they say, I think
it's it's true that this is a much different Villanova
team than even like a few weeks ago. They're playing
better defense. They held Yukon to sixty points. Yep, that's
the thing. If they hold a team to under seventy points,
this is a really good basketball team. And they've been
doing that recently and they did it against Yukon. They
could score with anyone because of Eric Dixon. But now
you're getting more consistency out of your scoring because Poplar's

(01:41:45):
hitting threes. Who Longino's hitting threes? Now he's been a
much better for They're one of the best in the
count and they have And this is also taken a
while too, but I think it's now starting to pay off. Dividends.
Is they have a ball handler, Jamir Bricketts, who is
just reading the ball in a way that I don't
know if they bill transfer recently or at least in
the contact to transfer.

Speaker 4 (01:42:06):
Yeah, And again it just takes a while nature to
sport they have. I think they have like four transfers
in the in the top seven rotation. A kid from
penn Uhant Poplar.

Speaker 3 (01:42:17):
Bricks any way, Brick has transfer from what was.

Speaker 4 (01:42:20):
It the one they got two Big five transfers this
year that would have never happened in a million years.

Speaker 3 (01:42:25):
But though Bill and I has got money, the other
schools don't.

Speaker 2 (01:42:27):
I don't know if it was Seth Greenberg that said
this or wonder, but he said, you don't even know
what you have, correct until like late December early January.

Speaker 3 (01:42:35):
Yeah, you just get Yeah, I don't know what the
other teams have. Like when we go to play a team, Yep,
you have no clue.

Speaker 4 (01:42:41):
So how about this the other night, I'm in Champagne, Illinois,
but Penn State cans run out the gym Illinois was
in the Elite eight last year where.

Speaker 3 (01:42:49):
They got annihilated by you cutt. That's they won the
Big ten tournament last year. How many players from that
team are on this team? Zero all gone and they're
in the top The whole new team all.

Speaker 4 (01:43:00):
Gone out, some transferred somewhere, went to the NBA and
they parted in these guys.

Speaker 3 (01:43:05):
I mean phenomenal talent they get.

Speaker 4 (01:43:07):
From Lithuania and Jackie Yonas or whatever. It's gonna be
a top five NBA pick. He didn't play the other day.
Just it's it's amazing how the support has changed. So
I didn't have to Penn State had beating Illinois four
straight times. This guy's had no relevance to anything. It
was a totally different spot.

Speaker 2 (01:43:23):
I think, Look, you're never gonna ruin college basketball because
you have what they're trying.

Speaker 3 (01:43:26):
You have March madness. They're trying, and they're even trying
to ruin March madness.

Speaker 2 (01:43:30):
Yeah they are try but yeah, but again, this is
why I have such trouble following college sports anymore, because like,
when he gets near Mark, I'll be into it, but
I don't know who, Like, you know, I look even
around the city. I don't know who the sal's playing.
I hit the Temple guys. Saint Joe's got a lot
of guys back. I mean, they their team is kind

(01:43:50):
of their team. But it's just weird, and you almost
gotta be like like ust John sometimes, like you you
get into it and you'll tell me how you know,
this guy came from here and he did this he
did that, I just did my age.

Speaker 3 (01:44:00):
I don't have the inclination to do that anymore. It's yeah,
it really is tough.

Speaker 4 (01:44:04):
And we'll go around the city, Mike, Saint Jose has
a lot of talent. I think they have the most
talent in the city. Is they proved very disapplied, winning
the Big Five title two years in a row since
they've had the tournament. But man, they lose at Saint Louis,
they lose a Ducaine, they lose the central Connecticut state.

Speaker 3 (01:44:22):
You can't lose a Dukene. I mean, what are we doing?

Speaker 2 (01:44:24):
I mean, you just can't do I'm sorry. Do you
know the Dukan coaches, by the way, No, I do.
Not Lebron James high School j That's right, yeah, not
Drew James Drew. I'll think of it, because Lebron's kid
was going to go there right right, and it didn't
exactly work on.

Speaker 3 (01:44:39):
It ain't going to Duque Drew. I'll think of it
a minute.

Speaker 4 (01:44:41):
But anyway, anyway, yeah, look, because Lebron's high school coach
was the coach at Dukene, he retired and his uh
former teammate took over at du Kane. But yeah, Saint
Joe's been a disappointment. Penn is starting up again today.
Not you talk about a guy starting over right, right?
They get raided every year. I mean I talked Penn
play pett State not long ago, and I talked to

(01:45:02):
Steve Dunne. You he said, and uh, Mike mahoney, they're
great s I d They had a kid two years
ago was the leading score in the country, then Jordan Dickole.

Speaker 3 (01:45:11):
And they think all he's three years at pet is
this close to a Wharton degree. He ain't leaving. He
left to go to Saint John's. That I mean what
I mean, what what is a ward degree worth? I
don't know. I can't even what's that number? What do
you think you got a Saint John's. I don't.

Speaker 2 (01:45:27):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (01:45:28):
But that's that's kind of where we are at the moment.
Oh that's no, that's not kind of where we are.
And there's a player we are, their star freshman from
last year's now.

Speaker 3 (01:45:36):
It's all over, that's right.

Speaker 2 (01:45:37):
And you can't even get mad at anybody because the
kids are gonna go where they're mony.

Speaker 3 (01:45:41):
Where's your Where's yours going to be? Next year? John?
And he's going to get like he says, he's going
to the NFL draft, right, you need to.

Speaker 2 (01:45:48):
Go to college and the Penn State kids coming back
because he ain't going to the NFL draft.

Speaker 3 (01:45:52):
I am already got their quarterbacks. That's right, that's right.
Maybe I know Farda State's going to be looking for
one and they have money. But he's gonna be. He's
gonna get a lot of money. He's not gonna be
at Texas no matter what. He's not gonna be. I don't.
But they promised arts, right if you like, Yeah, they
said arts, if you stay guy, they got the money
for the promise arts. They promised his uncles also, you

(01:46:16):
better promise archs because arches. That kid's legit. Oh, no,
kid's good.

Speaker 5 (01:46:20):
I'm gonna they should have already played arts, by the way,
I think they they honestly didn't give themselves a chance
to win a national championship because they stuck with quinn Ewles.

Speaker 3 (01:46:28):
I firmly believe. I concur with it.

Speaker 2 (01:46:31):
A couple of thoughts on college before we get out
of here. There's a great story John. You get you
on the athletic Do.

Speaker 3 (01:46:37):
You subscribe to him?

Speaker 5 (01:46:38):
Yes?

Speaker 4 (01:46:39):
Mike, Okay, Well, on their website, Auburn is the best
team in the country at this point doing a phenomenal chuck.

Speaker 3 (01:46:47):
So the guy who was his offensive guru and again
go on the website.

Speaker 4 (01:46:51):
I don't remember his name. It's an awesome story. He
was a kid, a student at Miami, and he kind
of went around while day and said, hey, I'd like
to be like a manager, and they said, all right,
well you're like, you know, pick up the tasks. And
over time he just started learning the ins and outs
of the game and watching film and at Adam Fisher,

(01:47:15):
the coach at Temple, became like his guy. And over
time this kid just got moved up and up and
up and up, and eventually Bruce Pearl hired him to
like do video and stuff.

Speaker 2 (01:47:26):
Then when one of his assistants left, he became an assistant.
Now he's the hottest offensive guru in the country. He
is running all birds like thirty if he's that old.
But it just you know, Adam Fisher was the lead
head manager at Penn State. I mean, it doesn't matter
what you did if you're willing to put in the time.

(01:47:46):
The guy at Michigan, he.

Speaker 4 (01:47:48):
Was the manager for Bob Knight, at India doing an
incredible job, got Florida whatever to the final four Florida
Atlantic that who was dust he met that.

Speaker 2 (01:48:00):
I've come to the conclusion in life doesn't always work
if and I was not always.

Speaker 3 (01:48:06):
The hardest working guy, I knew what I could do.

Speaker 2 (01:48:08):
And what if you put the time in and you're
very dialed and you have some amount of talent to
go with it, you're probably you know, you might not
be one of those stories, but you're probably going to.

Speaker 3 (01:48:20):
I think there's a lot of people to go through life.

Speaker 2 (01:48:22):
They don't want to put the work in just to
say just or they think they're entitled, or they think this,
or they think that whatever.

Speaker 3 (01:48:30):
And you know, most of the success stories that we see.
I'm sure if you talk.

Speaker 2 (01:48:33):
To Mike Burgo masters there guy remember the name Okay.
In the fall of twenty twelve, early in his freshman
year at Miami, he's six foot six, he played the
little hoops. He's trying to get a finance degree, and
his friend in the dorm said, Hey, I'm going to
try to be a manager.

Speaker 3 (01:48:53):
So they went over together. As friend lasted a why
right now right? His friend lasted a week. It took
him over there and burnt him by now running there and.

Speaker 2 (01:49:01):
That's offense for the number one team, And announce the
suckiest job in the world being the manager of you
are just everything gets thrown at you, ye know whatever,
You're in charge of, all the crap things that nobody
else wants to do.

Speaker 4 (01:49:14):
Another cool story on the athletic Does anybody heard this
name Jim Crutchfield? I think I have, But now he
coaches Nova Southeast from the university and Division two.

Speaker 3 (01:49:27):
Where's that at? Where's Nova Southeast at Florida? Oh okay.

Speaker 4 (01:49:30):
One of the guys that goes over to regularly pick
his brain, Eric Spolster, this guy is running.

Speaker 3 (01:49:37):
They are you ready for this job?

Speaker 2 (01:49:39):
Eighty six possessions a game in college hoops like seventy
five is a big dump. Yeah, yeah, it's loyal on
your you're running. What do you think that guy's making nothing?

Speaker 5 (01:49:51):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:49:51):
And pocket change.

Speaker 2 (01:49:52):
If I'm making nothing and her expulsors coming to me.
Ask not only him, you know what else came to
see him, the entire Celtics bring.

Speaker 3 (01:49:59):
Tr Wow, this guy. This guy shoots threes and presses,
that's what he does.

Speaker 4 (01:50:05):
He's won eighty six percent of his games, he started
in places that nobody's ever heard of it.

Speaker 3 (01:50:10):
What isn't somebody bigger to his.

Speaker 4 (01:50:12):
Record at Nova Southeastern in the last four years one
hundred and twelve and four.

Speaker 3 (01:50:16):
But why doesn't like Florida higher?

Speaker 4 (01:50:20):
He had five new starters last year thirty two and three,
lost on a buzzer beater in the title game. It's
I mean, it's just there're guys out there they can
do this way better. And you know, and I watched
this drek for guys that big name coaches shall remain
unnamed for the moment, that couldn't run an offense if

(01:50:40):
their life depended on it.

Speaker 3 (01:50:42):
All they do is spend the whole game screaming at refereence.
It's just they're guys out there that really know the game.

Speaker 4 (01:50:47):
If you're geting a chance, Jim Crutchfield, Nova Southeastern.

Speaker 3 (01:50:52):
Nova Southeastern is the one that's getting me. I mean serious.
Look again, if I'm the athletic directory.

Speaker 5 (01:50:59):
Some some mid major, I guess the programs are afraid
of something different. Y.
