Speaker 3 (01:03):
By the way, for anybody that stayed up really late
last night, they beat the Sacramento A's, the Las Vegas A's,
the Oakland A's whoever they are the Philadelphia's to win
their eighth straight. They're now thirty three at eighteen, which
is the best record in baseball. They won twelve of
thirteen last night it was four to three, was one nil,

(01:24):
and then they gave four nil at the top of
the ninth and my man Jordan Romento had been pitching well,
gave up at three. Ron Homer, Zach Wheeler, Mike Kurr
six and one two forty two Era eighty eight. K's
fourteen walks Detroit with the second best record in baseball
thirty three and nineteen. Then the Dodgers at thirty two
at nineteen Colorado Mike's favorite tea one.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
Last night they're up to nine and forty two.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
By the way, when they were eight and forty two,
worst record in the first fifty games.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
Since you're ready for this, Mike, Since.

Speaker 4 (01:56):
The Louisville teenne the Louisville Colonel, I had the Crowners
at seven and forty three.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
I remember that mostly he let me set this up.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
Most losses ever the Cleveland Spiders in eighteen ninety nine
with one hundred and thirty four.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
They're on pace, Big Spider Rockies or as the White
Sox won twenty one last They're they're gonna, They're gonna
like our knicks, our Nova Knicks.

Speaker 3 (02:24):
It's one of the saddest ever blown leads in history,
and Indiana's now done it three times in the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
They now trail O two, as does Minnesota.

Speaker 3 (02:34):
Game three tonight in Minnesota, Game three tomorrow in Indiana.
Big soccer game tonight. Oh Mike, are you ready for this?
In Chester? Enter Miami and Leonel Messi against the first
place Union.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
Is he playing fars? I know? Okay, because yeah, you
never know what lenl far As. I know.

Speaker 3 (02:54):
Big celebration tomorrow, Premier League finale, Liverpool celebrates their title.
About this for for the local state university. What a
year they're having, Hey, championship and wrestling again, championship in
women's volleyball, final four in football, hockey, now lacrosse. They're

(03:14):
playing today. They played Cornell at noon. Penn State we're
talking about obviously Maryland plays Syracuse and they're in the
final four of the Big Ten Baseball tournament. Now we
have Mike carn on the Charles Schwab Invitational in Texas.

Speaker 4 (03:27):
It was it was the Ben Hook it was a
colonial They all have different names.

Speaker 3 (03:31):
Now, Rory won the Master, Scottie won the pgat US Open.
Coming up and obot it outside of Pittsburgh.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
How about this. I looked this up yesterday just because.

Speaker 4 (03:43):
Whatever the Colorado Rockies, according to what I read on
Google by somebody, they treatment has been favored this year once.
Now they didn't say what game I tried to, but
they won. They won the game they were favored. They covers.
Think about that. So they're one for one. As you

(04:05):
play fifty fifty games, would have fifty all most of
the you're only favored once.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
Smart. That's I can see.

Speaker 4 (04:12):
If you're favored seven times, you know you're playing Miami,
you're playing whatever.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
So Phillies just swept them four. They went seven on the.

Speaker 4 (04:22):
First time the Phillies have ever swept a series of
seven or more. Really, The Hall of Fame Baseball writer
Jason Starkart Star a great guy, right good friends, was
on the radio the other day. This would be about
three days old, but I'm assuming it still applies. He
went back to nineteen oh one. You know one, this
is the first time in back to back seasons the

(04:43):
Phillies have the best record. Now at that time, I
think it was the National League because I think they
still trailed the Tigers at that point at this point
in the season.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
Since nineteen oh one, that they had the best record
at this late May.

Speaker 4 (04:55):
Whatever, well, whatever, yeah, whatever date for now. I remind
folks in Philadelphia, because we will. You're right back where
you were last year. You are in exactly the same spot.
And last year I remember, and this ticked me off
to no end. The Phillies were playing a lot of
bad teams early in a year, and we pointed some
people pointed out and oh my god, I got people

(05:18):
like I won't mention the names, but you can imagine
who they were.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
I think I remember, I remember them. I like them.

Speaker 4 (05:24):
So I mean I named Ricky bow And and I
think it was Ben David maybe and and just went yeah,
big boys. And they went on things about people rippy,
like knocking the Phillies.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
I'm not knocking the Phillies.

Speaker 4 (05:38):
I'm just stating the fact that they Now the Mets
have just been in like a really streak where they've
played a lot of bad Phillies met by the Phillies
next two weeks by the way up until like Father's Day.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
It's just the same. I mean it was not quite
as bad.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
But they Colorado and Sacramento, Colorado.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
So I don't know who like.

Speaker 4 (05:57):
I don't know how tough their schedule might get it
point in time, I do not know.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
I know they don't play. It doesn't get worse, I'll
tell you that.

Speaker 4 (06:04):
But I'm just telling you so they should be kind
of like where they were last year.

Speaker 2 (06:08):
Well, the good news, right, they laid the division by three,
and to me, you still want to win the division.

Speaker 3 (06:14):
Absolute Phillies were the only team last year that won
and didn't win the first round. All the rest of
them got buyas to win, So I forget all that.
They just having to catch a hot team at the
wrong time and the relievers stuck.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
And they couldn't get a hit.

Speaker 3 (06:26):
But look, they're in a great spot and some of
their guys, Harper's hitting like two thirty. Yeah, it's weird.
Turner's been won a roll. Boom has come up for nothing.
He's like, yeah, he's had a great run of a month.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
And they lost their best reliever. They lost their best reliever.

Speaker 3 (06:41):
But the starters go so long in games, it might
not be all that relevant.

Speaker 5 (06:45):
Anyway, we have two cy young potential candidates, Ardo and
and think about that.

Speaker 2 (06:52):
Rangers pitch and great. Think about this and the bullpen.

Speaker 4 (06:55):
Look, when you get into postseason, starters are only going
to go even if they're great or going to six
seven whatever, you need guys who are gonna have to
close out close case. But think about this, almost every
game the Phillies played, and Nola is probably right now
like their fourth or fifth guy if he's been brutal.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
But he hasn't. Think about almost.

Speaker 4 (07:16):
Every game the Phillies play, they have the advantage of
the starting pitcher. They did that how many teams I
know that. That's why I mean, there's there to me there.

Speaker 3 (07:26):
They should be a great playoff team because if you
have great starting pitchers, you should have leeds late in
playoff games.

Speaker 2 (07:32):
And then they turned out last year they blew it well.

Speaker 5 (07:35):
And they have in the lineup too, but again they
go cold.

Speaker 4 (07:39):
But what we've seen in the year. They didn't lose
the last three years cause of their starting pitch.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
No they did not.

Speaker 4 (07:44):
They lost cause they they stopped hitting. And last year
the bullpen turn even.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
Jeff Boppa it was great, he was terrible, and that
the first game begins.

Speaker 4 (07:52):
But it's never been the game that we were lost
last year against the Mets.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
He gave up one run. Yeah, ridiculous. So I mean
we're to your point.

Speaker 5 (07:59):
My I know we were sitting here talking about this
what a month ago, when the sky was falling because
the bullpen was so bad. I mentioned, you know, they're
gonna get hot at a time. Sure, they're gonna be good.
They just so happened to be beating up on bad teams.
They're beating teams they should be beating, which is good
to them. But at the same time, I'm not poop

(08:21):
pooping them. I'm not getting too high because we've been
here before. They still have these issues, more so now
than ever because of whatever the hell Alvarado decided to do.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
So I'm not gonna get too high.

Speaker 5 (08:33):
I'm proud of what they're doing now, beating up on
bad teams, and they have the best record in baseball.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
But we still have to let it play out. We
can't get too high, can't get so.

Speaker 6 (08:43):
Yeah, but they do also have the best record in baseball, Kyle,
like it is. It is something to be like. They
are Hello, Hello, they are one of the best teams
in Major League Baseball. Yes, they could.

Speaker 2 (08:56):
They were last year. Oh yeah, I'm not knocking. I
don't know saying it's fair.

Speaker 4 (09:02):
Last year, they can win one hundred and ten games, right,
and if they don't at least get to the NLCS
and lose to the Dodge, it's been there's been a failure.

Speaker 5 (09:12):
And that is that is my point. You have such
high aspirations for this team. It's it's almost like World
Series or bus where they're at. This is the fourth
year of this team and they're not getting younger. Yes,
and I'm not saying they can't win it next.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
Year or the year after. Sure they can.

Speaker 4 (09:24):
They can go out and you make move or you
do whatever you're gonna do. But the fans are at
the point it's like when you know, when the Sixers
could get passed the second round and we're like, okay,
like please, let's like get past and they're leaving Boston
in Game six and with three minutes to go. But again,
the Phillies, what they're doing now is great. It's what
they might what they might do the rest of the

(09:45):
season is great. It doesn't matter.

Speaker 6 (09:47):
Yeah, And the good thing is I felt like they
were playing their absolute best last year. At this time,
I feel like there's still more meat on the bone
here for the Phillies. Like I still think there is.
There's another year. They're not hitting home runs like they
use to. I think they're like nineteenth in Major League
Baseball home runs somewhere around there. So they're they're doing
it in a way where they're not probably hitting their best,

(10:08):
and that there is another gear that they can they
can get to. So I do like they're just finding
ways to win at the moment and they can get there.

Speaker 4 (10:15):
John, Philly fans, and I'm not saying you're speaking as
a Philly fan. I'm just saying fans sit there and go, well,
this guy's not hitting. This guy's boy. When they all
hit well, of course you'll be the team. And I
think one of the reasons they're hitting less home runs
is their approach that the plate has changed. They made
a discombraculous they playoff approach. It's right, exactly like they

(10:37):
don't want Trey Turner hitting home runs even though he
hit a big you know, let off the end. They
want him getting on base. Their approach at the plate
is different. Now, will they revert to their you know
when they get into a tough spot in October. I
haven't the faintest idea. Just get October.

Speaker 2 (10:53):
My other teams get their six right free division winners,
three wild cards.

Speaker 3 (10:57):
It's interesting there's about eight teams involved. There's a lot
of teams, right. Yeah, obviously the Dodgers are going to
get there, the Cubs are having a good year.

Speaker 2 (11:04):
Saint Louis is a fact a factor.

Speaker 6 (11:08):
Atlanta with Ron and mccuney junior back, Yeah, they are
definitely gonna.

Speaker 2 (11:11):
Be strider so too.

Speaker 5 (11:13):
But I also just want to summarize what my point
is about not getting too high or low. And I
feel like it's almost like a sixer situation where you know,
when they had Doc, they had the best record in basketball,
but it's okay, that doesn't matter. Get me to the
postseason and until you do something different in the postseason
that you haven't done in the last three years, which
is go cold with the bats, bullpen issues.

Speaker 2 (11:33):
I'm not gonna get too higher too long.

Speaker 6 (11:35):
Yeah, and I think you're you're that's actually fair enough
because it feels like again they are rounding in the
form like they're not there yet. This isn't the complete picture.
Of what the Phillies are going to be for this season.
I think I feel like they're still trying to figure
themselves a little, themselves out a little bit. So I
think you're right in that, like, don't get too high,
too low. This version of the team right now is
really good, but it is going to be a different
version of it once we get to sport.

Speaker 4 (11:55):
But they used to ask Tiger Woods, you got to
ask this all the time, like you know, Tiger said,
I just want to myself in position now Tiger.

Speaker 2 (12:02):
Woods finished when he was in position way.

Speaker 4 (12:05):
But again, I just want the Phillies to get like
Dick said, hopefully you win the division, which I always
I've always thought they were going to this year.

Speaker 2 (12:13):
I thought they were gonna win around ninety five games.

Speaker 4 (12:15):
They may who knows, But again, put yourself in the
position and if you fail, you fail, I mean.

Speaker 2 (12:22):
You know. So here we go. Bet Parks to win
the World Series.

Speaker 3 (12:27):
Interesting Dodgers plus two twenty five plus six hundred or
six to one, Detroit plus eight fifty. Then the Phillies
at plus one thousand or ten to one, bet a
dollar win ten.

Speaker 2 (12:38):
Then Atlanta is next, which is shocking to me at
twelve to one, then the Mets at twelve, then the
Cubs at fifteen, then Seattle at twenty one. I would
take the Phillies, would take for the Mets.

Speaker 4 (12:48):
I would take the Phillies at well, the Mets their
pitching isn't that's what people are looking at like they're pitching.
The Phillies starting pitching struggle the Nuts. So I would
take the Phillies at ten if you risking me the Yankees.

Speaker 2 (13:01):
I know why the Yankees just.

Speaker 3 (13:03):
Take a minute Bedark walk into the those Tigers.

Speaker 2 (13:09):
How about.

Speaker 4 (13:11):
That's why the Yankees are less than the Phillies, because
they look at the Phillies and say, we're gonna have
to beat the Dodgers just to get.

Speaker 2 (13:17):
Through the world, which they might not have to. He
knows eight in a row for the Phillies twelve of thirteen.

Speaker 3 (13:22):
Uh beat the Sacramento slash Oakland slash lost fit.

Speaker 6 (13:27):
They can be wherever you want. They play in Sacramento.
But are they from Sacramentos?

Speaker 2 (13:31):
Where are they playing in like some softball feat? Yes, yeah,
they're playing in like a minor league. It's a clown show.
The Savannah Banana is playing bigger stadiums than the people. Hey,
joh speak, we mentioned this before you came on.

Speaker 3 (13:47):
How about how about your Union tonight against Yeah, in
a huge showdown in Chester.

Speaker 2 (13:54):
What's the deal here?

Speaker 6 (13:55):
So the Unions, Yeah, the Union have been the most
interesting team and MLS in my opinion, they completely I
had to say completely, but they shook the corps a
little bit with the roster. They traded away who has
been probably their best player in Daniel guysdag like just
about a month ago, a new coach, as you just said,

(14:15):
which was a big deal because Jim Curtin and Nerds
Tanner together have done some really special things and Jim
Curtin was very beloved as a coach here because he
was a Philly guy. He went to Villanova, so it
was it was a lot of big changes, and they
have by far been like either one of But to me,
they're at the top of the Eastern Conference. They have
been the best team in Major League Soccer, and so

(14:36):
now they have a showdown here.

Speaker 2 (14:37):
In Miami's not playing all that well.

Speaker 6 (14:39):
So it's not like that they're this juggernaut and I
think Messi's playing, but that is the big deal in
that ever really know.

Speaker 3 (14:45):
So they for people nine three and two draws and
they have twenty nine points. Dead he with Cincinnati for
the top of the East at twenty nine.

Speaker 6 (14:56):
Points and Cincinnati's run by a bunch of former Philadelphia
Union folks. So really, Yes, apparently Tanner is doing something right.

Speaker 4 (15:05):
Yes, Okay, if the worst team in the Premier League
played the.

Speaker 2 (15:11):
Union, yeah, I don't know. I don't know, Union crushed. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (15:14):
My guess is that all the American teams would get
annihilated because these are players from all around the world
and they're making big monk.

Speaker 2 (15:20):
I'm just trying to keep it in perspective.

Speaker 3 (15:22):
Oh yeah, I like the Union, and now it looks
like the NFL versus the World Football or something, you know.
I mean, it's not the same thing. They're in the playoffs,
you know, that World Football League. Like they're Birmingham Stallions.

Speaker 4 (15:35):
There's only four teams in the Lambs Michigan. I'm a
Michigan Panthers, Michigan. I'm an Arlington Renegades guy.

Speaker 6 (15:44):
Yeah, there's a lot of players from East Carolina that
have made the roster.

Speaker 2 (15:48):
That's are my allegiance. Lies. I knew there had to
be some Let's talk NBA playoffs.

Speaker 3 (15:55):
It's starting to look like we have a we have
a finals but obviously determined. Oklahoma City at bet Parks
is now minus twenty five hundred to win the series
against Minnesota meeting. If you bet twenty five dollars, you
win a dollar. Minnesota is plus eleven hundred. In the
game tonight, Game three, Oklahoma City leads two.

Speaker 1 (16:16):
Oh.

Speaker 3 (16:16):
It's minus two and a half for Oklahoma City in
Minneapolis at the Target Center.

Speaker 2 (16:20):
If Minnesota came back to win that series, I'd be shocked.

Speaker 6 (16:25):
I would even go a step further. I would be
shocked if Oklahoma City doesn't win the whole thing.

Speaker 2 (16:29):
Yeah, I agree, John, I mean they look they look
really good. They've established themselves for what eighty two games
plus two and a half playoff rounds as the dominant
team in the league.

Speaker 3 (16:41):
They put up the numbers they put up with the MVP.
With the MVP, they put up insane numbers. Unlike the Knicks,
who are the patient they're playing now. They're deep, they're
really young, and they play defense. That's the next bay
they turn you over. They get out and run. They've
made Minnesota, which is a pretty athletic team, and Dynamite

(17:04):
look pretty ordinary.

Speaker 2 (17:05):
These two games.

Speaker 5 (17:06):
Well, we were questioning last week when it was Game
seven against Denver.

Speaker 2 (17:10):
There's betting odds. Yep.

Speaker 5 (17:11):
I guess we know why now, because that game was
over before it even starts.

Speaker 3 (17:14):
Yeah, they just they just put it on Denver and
that was and that was. They just had to get
past that. Now they're playing like they did all the
regular season. And Denver asked them some questions and they
had an answer for the other series.

Speaker 2 (17:27):
Indiana's minus five sixty. Now the next are plus four hundred.
Indiana is only favored by two in the game tomorrow night.
So people are still clinging you telling me at this
point that if you liked Indiana, you only have to
lay five to one.

Speaker 3 (17:42):
Correct to win this series with both games on the road. Wow,
you can see the difference here. Now Indiana's won two
games on the road. Oklahoma City has won two games
at home, and they're five times the favorite to win this.
And I'm honestly look loud of that as the next
superception of the Knicks because they knocked out the Celtics.

Speaker 2 (18:00):
John, what is gonna talk to the Knicks and Pacers? First?

Speaker 3 (18:04):
The first game, obviously was completely insane, Yes, but yeah
the next were better. For what forty four minutes last night,
the Pacers were better. Yeah, not much argument about that.

Speaker 6 (18:15):
And it is a little bit of a taste of
the row medicine because the next the Knicks did get
in that game last night and very easily could have
found themselves win definitely the game one that they should
have won that game, but it's it's a taste of
their own medicine. This is what happened against Boston where
they probably got lucky a few games where they were
able to stay close, come back and win. This is

(18:35):
the problem about being in close games all the time
is you're not gonna win them all the time, and
now they're they're starting to lose them. And so the
thing is it could flip easily where the Knicks win
the next two and they're back in the series. But
it's also very easy that they could get swept in
the next two games because just because of like this
is what happens when you're in close games all the time.

Speaker 2 (18:53):
It's it's just a coin flip either way.

Speaker 3 (18:55):
Yeah, it was interested so was ten With like a
couple three minutes left last night, and the next.

Speaker 2 (18:59):
Scored nine, Row got at the one uh.

Speaker 3 (19:02):
And then they had a chance with the Brunson out
of three to tie. They said he shot it from
too far out, but that was I didn't have a problem.
I had no problem. Calm down people, He had no
problem with the shot. They had to take a three
to tie the game at that point. The problem is
I'm seeing it, and it was when you looked at the.

Speaker 2 (19:18):
Series ahead of time.

Speaker 3 (19:20):
Man, the Pacers bench is very good, and and they've
had two incredible performances by their starters Unie Smith of
the first game and then Siakam last night.

Speaker 2 (19:32):
But their benches, so the next bench is so bad.
I mean they were and I thought that would be
an X factor coming into this series. Yeah, I mean
the they just they have no offense.

Speaker 3 (19:41):
McBride had a pretty good series in the previous one
has just been okay. I mean they're going nuts about
Mitchell Robinson because he gets offensive rebounds, he can't shoot,
and he can't defend outside of three feet and and
and if they're playing my.

Speaker 2 (19:55):
Man, don't say it. Yeah, I if he's actually in
the rotation you got and they took cat off the
floor right for defense, and I don't think the coach
has done I'm not. I've never been a particularly big fan.

Speaker 6 (20:10):
He's getting out. Coach Rick Carlisle is very much. All
the other guys pretty good.

Speaker 3 (20:14):
And I didn't understand the whole cat off the floor.
I mean, I know he's terrible on defense. I saw it.
I've been watching it. He's brutal. I mean, he is
really brutal. He makes a little oaka for it look
like a good defense.

Speaker 6 (20:27):
Come on, man, I'm seeing a nice from Shan Bernard
on that one.

Speaker 2 (20:33):
I'm just he is brutal. But having said that, how
does see off the floor? I mean, for all those.

Speaker 5 (20:39):
Minutes, especially because you don't have a you know, you
don't have a solid option to replace him, so you
might as well keep the guy that's a threat on
offense on the floor to try and play defense.

Speaker 2 (20:49):
I didn't understand that. And when he came back in,
he had no rhythm and he was no fact. Two things.
I don't understand what David was doing. I have no
idea what he's doing. Two things. They pointed out.

Speaker 4 (20:59):
Nick have only lost one game on the road in
the playoffs yep, apparently similar to and Indiana has not
played as well, like the statistic wise with their guys
shooting stuff.

Speaker 2 (21:10):
So I don't know what that.

Speaker 4 (21:11):
And Charles Barkley this night, I thought interesting he called
Sam and I know there's one of the most underrated players.

Speaker 2 (21:17):
Really good.

Speaker 4 (21:18):
Remember when they made that trade, Wow, the Sixers. We
wanted the Sixers to try to.

Speaker 5 (21:23):
As were already good, and they just added.

Speaker 2 (21:27):
They're just a hard.

Speaker 3 (21:28):
Team to guard because they play at such a hot
pace and they have so many guys that can make
open shots. And I got a guy like TJ McCollough
who I loved here. I've always loved me. Yperachieved career,
but he's just smart. He knows what he's doing. Even
last night when he made a bad play like he
three he had, he had a pick six, they didn't bother.

Speaker 2 (21:49):
He just plays the next play.

Speaker 3 (21:51):
It appears to me at this moment that the Pacers
are just a little better than the Knicks.

Speaker 2 (21:58):
Not much, yeah, a little bit.

Speaker 3 (22:00):
Having said that it should be one to one, sure,
because it was a total miracle that they won Game
one on these john they have done this in each series.

Speaker 2 (22:10):
Yep.

Speaker 3 (22:10):
They've had a game in each series where they couldn't win,
and they won them all.

Speaker 2 (22:14):
Is there any explanation for them.

Speaker 6 (22:16):
No, that's what I mean, there's there's no explanation for it.
But it feels like all of their games are fifty
to fifty. But the problem about fifty to fifty is
the odds are never going to lay lay that way.
It's always gonna be skewed in one direction of the other.
And right now again they they were able to get
on the right side of it against Boston and now
they're on the complete wrong side of it.

Speaker 2 (22:34):
Connection. Yeah, it's interesting, but I mentioned this.

Speaker 3 (22:37):
The Pacers played the Celtics in the Eastern Finals last year,
was four to one. But I'm telling you that it's
those games. They were in some of those games which
and they also for the last three months. I think
I'm right about that. Their record is the only team
would have better record as Oklahmo.

Speaker 1 (22:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (22:52):
Since since some New Year's I think they've been they've
been really good.

Speaker 2 (22:56):
This is not a total shot.

Speaker 3 (22:58):
I mean, they took the best team in the East
out and made him look pretty ordinary.

Speaker 2 (23:02):
Against c Against Clean I asked you two questions. Hang
on one. The other thing, they are tiring the Knicks out.
The Knicks Jalen Brunson is the best clutch play. They
got no bench, right, because they have no bench.

Speaker 3 (23:16):
His legs look a little tired of me at the
end of these games because he's and look, they're targeting
him because he's an average I would.

Speaker 2 (23:24):
And they're targeting Cat because he's horrible.

Speaker 3 (23:27):
And in the other way the other side, they're targeting
Haliburt because he's not very good either. But right now
that last night, I thought the Pacers were clearly better.
The Knicks almost stole it.

Speaker 2 (23:37):
But well, I thought this was fifty to fifty coming in.
Don't look like fifty to fifty anymore.

Speaker 4 (23:42):
Did you see a couple of Carlisle after the game
when they won Game one? He's in the locker room. Yeah, guys,
it's the first day of thirteen. Yeah, and that's why.
And he he has this he had he says he's
won a title thirteen days.

Speaker 2 (23:55):
We're gonna we're going to buy day by ten day.

Speaker 4 (23:57):
We're going to own him because they're gonna just makes
sense to two questions are going to ask you, have
you ever seen a shooting You've seen a lot of
games a shooting effort like that guy had in game one.

Speaker 2 (24:09):
Nie Smith insane, I mean beyond in sane. Yeah, yeah,
that was beyond insane.

Speaker 3 (24:14):
He's for twelve in a series, right, he was two
for two last but he was six for six when
it mattered. The amazing thing is some of those shots
were like double clutch off the bell shots.

Speaker 2 (24:27):
No, no, oh, okay, yeah they were. I mean the
rest of them.

Speaker 3 (24:30):
The Knicks just I don't know when everybody knew who
was going to shoot the ball.

Speaker 2 (24:33):
And I don't know what the Knicks were doing that
they just stopped guarding. It was.

Speaker 3 (24:37):
It was pathetic. Then they missed a couple of free throws,
but really good free throw.

Speaker 2 (24:41):
I mean it was. It was a total meltdown.

Speaker 3 (24:44):
But the odds on somebody hitting six threes in the
last zero minutes or zero.

Speaker 4 (24:50):
The other thing is, this is why sports are so
cool to me. So thirty years ago, Reggie Miller has
that game where he makes the three freezing like twenty
sag or whatever he did Indiana and combs in and Halliburton.
I thought the game because I was I didn't see
that his foot was on the line, so I thought,
and I thought when the game went in overtime, I

(25:10):
thought the Knicks were gonna win.

Speaker 2 (25:11):
I just did. I'm like, okay, you know he celebrated.
They gave the choke sign. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (25:15):
And I if you put a gun to my head
before the series, I'd probably were lean towards the Knicks
just and again.

Speaker 2 (25:22):
But history thirty years later, if the Reggie.

Speaker 4 (25:25):
Miller gives you, gives Spike Lee and and then Halliburton's
doing the same, I mean, you can't make that up.

Speaker 2 (25:31):
So check this out.

Speaker 3 (25:32):
Uh So the the Halliburton shot that ties the game,
some people thought it won the game. I will say this.
I listened to the next radio guy. He called it
it too, Yes, he did. It was a great call
he did.

Speaker 2 (25:42):
You know what he did?

Speaker 3 (25:43):
He looked at the referee. That's what you do. He's
pointing at the line. So the ball, everybody's seeing it
a million times now. The ball hits the back of
the rim, goes over top of the shot clock kawhi
and comes down.

Speaker 2 (25:55):
All that never went down.

Speaker 3 (25:57):
So I've seen that shot one time. I'm in my
life nineteen eighty eight, Jadwin Gym. I remember this one
jimble Leglis senior at they're losing the whole game. They're
losing and they're getting out played and it will out
a really good team.

Speaker 2 (26:15):
Lionel Simmons dug over to it.

Speaker 3 (26:17):
I mean they had got the guys that played in
the NBA. Timmy Legler legs take their down two. He
takes a shot at the buzzer at Jadwin Jim that
hits the rim and bounces at least to the shock clock,
if not higher, and comes right down from straight away
or to wing. I don't remember that part. I'll read
you the text, I said, Timmy in a second. So

(26:39):
it comes down and Pete Carrill, the legendary coach at Priston,
falls on the ground and afterwards all he could do
is just say, there were a lot of half pops.

Speaker 2 (26:49):
Let's put it.

Speaker 3 (26:50):
Let's put it that one back because this team, they
were not as good as the Sale, but they deserve
to win the game, and they didn't, so I said,
I said Legler.

Speaker 2 (26:57):
A text, I said, which ball won high or off
the rim?

Speaker 3 (27:01):
Last night's or your shot at Princeton Air story spots.
I was telling that story last night, mine for sure,
plus mine.

Speaker 2 (27:10):
Was near half court. I don't know. I don't remember
that part of it.

Speaker 3 (27:14):
That's the only time I've seen that shot at the
end of the game. This one didn't win the game,
but the one back then won again. That was nineteen
eighty eight, before you two guys were born.

Speaker 2 (27:25):
Wegler for lsa as a see and what a bizarre
I just thought of.

Speaker 6 (27:31):
The Haliburton one was even more bizarre because of how
he got that shot.

Speaker 2 (27:34):
He was what inside the.

Speaker 4 (27:36):
Paint ran all the way to the three point Yeah,
the same thing he did against Clean.

Speaker 2 (27:42):
It's such an odd shot to make hero ball shot.
Oh yeah, and he made him both. I mean this
was luck shot. The one in Cleveland was not lucky.
That was just he had a defender onim that couldn't
defend him.

Speaker 3 (27:53):
But yeah, Mitchell Robinson would have to defend him, and
he couldn't believe.

Speaker 2 (27:57):
Just what is this guy doing? It was crazy man.
So yeah, I mean, not the odds on that shot.

Speaker 3 (28:05):
And it's also I don't know if people saw the video,
watch the Knicks fans in the background, they're all cheering,
yeah when he missed.

Speaker 2 (28:13):
Not really, it's gonna come down and go in.

Speaker 6 (28:18):
I mean, I'm so glad Knicks fans have what that
feels like now, I'm so glad I have that.

Speaker 4 (28:24):
Well, you know, it ain't like Nick fans have been
celebrating John for last time.

Speaker 6 (28:28):
I know, it's just it's so nice. Oh, there's been
a lot of trash talk coming from uh from that
way lately.

Speaker 4 (28:36):
Hey, you know what, we do a lot of trash talk.
The whole thing tush push this week just sickens me. Look,
I don't care about the tush push. The Eagles are
gonna make ninety two percent of their quarterback sneaks because
they have three all pro linemen and a quarterback that
weight lifts six hundred pounds.

Speaker 2 (28:53):
So whatever.

Speaker 4 (28:54):
So and Jeffrey Lowie getting up and talking about wet
dreams in an owner's meeting, okay, makes everybody happen. But
people in Philadelphia this week are calling the Packers sissy's
and cryeatns.

Speaker 2 (29:06):
Well, what does that make us? Yeah, I mean, I mean,
I just don't get it.

Speaker 4 (29:11):
If the thing gets taken away, you get takes.

Speaker 6 (29:15):
Fans are taking one heck of a victory lap. And
I'm glad it's worked all the way up to the
owner because the owner is doing it just as much
as just as Coggy is. Every Philly Eagles fan nothing
to do.

Speaker 4 (29:28):
With the Eagles. I never thought. I just think the
play looks stupid. It's not people pushing people. I don't
care I put on the player. Is this They looked
at the role book and they and they devised.

Speaker 3 (29:39):
The scheme that takes advantage of their person absolute And
then then you're gonna say, well, now we're gonna change
it because you figured out something that's not how this
is supposed to work. The other thirty one teams had
that opportunity. They figured it out. Now because they won
the Super Bowl, all of a sudden, you know that
it's a bad play.

Speaker 2 (29:57):
That's such as sheet code play. Everybody would be.

Speaker 6 (30:00):
I'm just so amazed that the Eagles have run this
play so well and have broken football so much that
there are a bunch of grown old men in a
room together talking about a tush push, like they're talking
about there is there is a play. They are saying
out loud, tush push, over and over again, very seriously,
trying to get rid of it.

Speaker 2 (30:18):
But that's funny.

Speaker 4 (30:19):
In twenty two the Eagles, before they did the tush push,
they converted ninety two or ninety three percent of their
quarterback sneaks. So now they convert ninety two or ninety
three percent. And if you watch the replays of this,
I was watching someone about half of them. They don't
even push jail with them the lines, just pushing them in.

Speaker 6 (30:41):
I think with Jordan my Lotta said, it's like a
sale of fail safe. So like if it does fail
the first time, that's what helps the second time.

Speaker 2 (30:48):
But it doesn't usually fail next year.

Speaker 5 (30:50):
Half the time too, they get like three or four.

Speaker 4 (30:52):
Yards on them the opening game against Dallas, first play,
not the second play.

Speaker 3 (30:59):
First.

Speaker 4 (31:00):
I'm telling you I would I would laugh second and
say I would salute SyRI on you.

Speaker 2 (31:04):
Second.

Speaker 4 (31:05):
Would's right, it would be they get three yards, it
would be second because you're playing the Cowboys, especially the Cowboys,
it'd be a hell of a play against.

Speaker 2 (31:14):
I'm telling you.

Speaker 4 (31:15):
You just called me out, I said, just to give
the middle finger to all those people.

Speaker 2 (31:19):
John was talking about it. All right.

Speaker 3 (31:21):

want to be?

Speaker 4 (32:03):
If they won, they had I think they did have
one winning stream too.

Speaker 2 (32:06):
I think they did.

Speaker 6 (32:07):
Oh yeah, thes played well for for like a short.

Speaker 2 (32:10):
Are the Rockies? Oh they've never played. They're terrible. They're
on a roll, John. They won last night, so don't

and a half two or die time for the Timberwolves

(33:24):
who have been outclassed in the first two games.

Speaker 2 (33:27):
Kyle will start with you. Who do you like tonight?

Speaker 5 (33:30):
I'll take the home dog. I think Minnesota gets one here.
Does that mean that puts them back in the series.
I guess numbers wise, yeah, but I think Okayc's gonna
split in Minnesota. I think Minnesota takes the first one
at home and then Okase wins the second one. But
I don't think it's gonna be a full sweep. And
if Minnesota is gonna win one, it's gonna be here.

Speaker 2 (33:52):
Mike.

Speaker 4 (33:54):
It looks almost too enticing because that line should be higher.

Speaker 2 (33:59):
It seems it was three and a half and a
half att.

Speaker 4 (34:02):
Parks, Yes, which scared so I would probably stay away
from the game. But this because Minnesota is probably due
to win a game. I mean they're good, they're.

Speaker 2 (34:11):
Very you know, they're Edwards put the team on his
back for one.

Speaker 4 (34:14):
But the problem is sometimes they're worry about the other
guys on that team.

Speaker 2 (34:17):
Yes, he's very. Randall played like crap the other night.
He was so bad that didn't have a great game,
but they just couldn't make a shot.

Speaker 4 (34:25):
I'm just going to say this is what I've seen
of OKC right now. I have find hard to bet
against them in any situation. So I would either stay
away from the game or I would go with Oka
See because I think they smell blood and I think
they want to just say, you know what, let's just
get it past.

Speaker 2 (34:41):
This and worry about the next team.

Speaker 6 (34:42):
Jansen, Yeah, I think I'm gonna go thunder as well.
I at least think they make a three to zero
if Minnesota takes one, they take it in Game four.
But Oklahoma City, yeah, I think they're just too overwhelming
at the moment and they as Mike Hearn just said,
they smell blood. And I think as long as as
long as they smell blood and they're playing like somewhat
good basketball, they're just too good.

Speaker 2 (35:04):
And they're they're much better than Minnesota.

Speaker 3 (35:05):
Yeah, and watching the two games now, it's just a
bad matchup for Minnesota. As it turned out in Minnesota,
let's let's deal in reality here. They got very fortunate
the previous series when Curry got hurt. I don't know
that they clear Golden State. In fact, I agree, I
would have liked Golden State in that serious But Minnesota
got to this spot last year and got waxed by what,

(35:26):
in my opinion, is an inferior team last year in Dallas,
inferior to this version of Oklahoma City. Look, Oklahoma City
is putting up like historic like Chicago Bulls, Golden State,
like regular season playoffs.

Speaker 2 (35:43):
I mean, if they finished this out by.

Speaker 3 (35:45):
Sweeping here and beating what looks like the Pacers, and
however many games it takes, I'm gonna go down as
one of the all.

Speaker 2 (35:53):
Time great teams.

Speaker 3 (35:55):
Biggest point differential in the regular season in NBA history
to players two way team, they got all kinds of
ways to beat you.

Speaker 2 (36:04):
Such an unbelievable team they put together, and they have
other than their star player.

Speaker 3 (36:09):
Most people on the streat could not name four players
on their team.

Speaker 4 (36:13):
Think, how could they'd be if they had the sixers pick?
Don't they have like they have like fifteen picks like
in the next five years or something. It's like the
way they've built this team.

Speaker 2 (36:22):
Baron Barren, and this guy's been doing it in two decades.

Speaker 3 (36:27):
Right again, he's the same guy that put together the
previous version that made the finals, and then everybody left
Oklahoma to go somewhere else.

Speaker 2 (36:34):
We're talking hard in Westbrook and Kevin Durant.

Speaker 3 (36:37):
And for the people that don't know this, so of
the franchises left here, the.

Speaker 2 (36:44):
Knicks have won the NBA title twice.

Speaker 3 (36:47):
Oklahoma City has won it once but as the Seattle SuperSonics.
Minnesota the Timberwolves have never woned, but the Minneapolis Lakers
won it many times for those interested. And the Pacers
have never won the NBA, but they did win the
AB three of them. Slick Leonard, click mel Daniels. I mean,
we're talking to some serious hoopsters, all right. Other game

(37:10):
tomorrow night in what a game, Bridge Field House, whatever
it is these days. I've been there many times. It's
always a different name. Indiana minus two. John, Let's start
with you the Pacers giving two to the Knicks tomorrow.

Speaker 6 (37:25):
That is a tough one because I think the Knicks
have been better on the road. I think we're going
to see them be better in this game. But I
just don't know, as you said, if they're going to
be tired out at this point going on the road
after just two really tough games and losing them, and
in the way that they lost them, especially in Game one.
Late in games, they just have not played all that great.

(37:46):
But I think the Knicks at least are able to
steal an early one. So I think they win this one,
and we'll see Game four is going to be a
big one for them.

Speaker 2 (37:54):
But yeah, I think they win Game three. Yeah. It's fascinating.

Speaker 3 (37:57):
These are two teams in some ways play like old
school basketball. They're two teams of jump shooters. Right, there's nobody,
hardly anybody finishes at the rim and is serious. It's
just it's all jump shots. And then Indiana just has
more guys that can make they really do. Their offense
is as good as the knickt offense can be and
has been.

Speaker 2 (38:17):
Indianda's offense is just better. Uh. And the coaching is
a mismatch. I'm not a huge tips of epic proportions.
To me, TIBs is just a guy who frowns and
whines and just.

Speaker 3 (38:30):
I don't see him doing anything you ever smile. No,
that's of interest. And I never saw that anywhere he's
ever been. I don't get it. And and Carlisle, I mean, look,
he wanted he won a title in Dallas with a
team that had zero business beating Miami, none at all, Dirk,
no chance they should have won that series.

Speaker 2 (38:49):
They did. And I remember the Sixers.

Speaker 3 (38:55):
Remember when the Sixers started to get good, Mike, they
regularly played the Pacers in the playoffs, well, the first
year they've played him with Iverson in that crowd.

Speaker 2 (39:04):
Larry Bird was the head coach, Rick was his top assistant.

Speaker 3 (39:08):
And I was in Louisville for the derby and they
sent me up to cover the last game of some
Pacers series because they're going to play the Sixers next
and after the game, I'm thinking I needed somebody tell
me about the pay I want up to wreck. He's
the top assistant. He was awesome explaining stuff, and top
assistants are always great to talk to because nobody ever
talks to them, so they're thrilled to talk to anybody.

(39:29):
They want to get their name in the paper, so
they become a head coach. That's how that works.

Speaker 2 (39:32):
And he was awesome and I learned a lot of
basketball listening to him, and he's been doing it a
long time.

Speaker 3 (39:39):
And the people that don't know he was kind of
a big player on that great eighty six Celtics team,
one of the great teams in NBA history, play at
the University of Virginia.

Speaker 2 (39:49):
And played with Samson. I think rowing Sampson's got a.

Speaker 3 (39:52):
Great background and coaching and has kind of in a
sweet spot of his career at the point, is probably
heading for the Hall of Fame, especially if Indiana wins
the title and they're six away. They got the second
best chance around to buy the Oklahoma City. I like Indiana,
and I picked the next to win the series. I'm
just seeing what I'm saying. I want to take Indiana's

(40:13):
a little better. I want to take the Knicks so bad.
It's like the Minnesota game.

Speaker 4 (40:16):
I'm sitting there going wait a minute, and Minnesota's home.
Although I think, okay, see he's better than Indiana. But
I tell you, Dick, I'm starting to think because the
Knicks guy to win this game. If they don't win
this game, they're not winning four out.

Speaker 2 (40:29):
I like Indiana, Yeah, they just I don't know why.

Speaker 4 (40:34):
I think by the fourth quarter, I think the Knicks
our tongues are going to be hanging out and they
were making a comment on the TV made Charles.

Speaker 3 (40:41):
Or just get didn't like campaign off the next bench.
I mean, that is the worst show. He seems like
a great guy, but how does that shot ever go?

Speaker 4 (40:50):
All I know is the Knicks guys look tired in
the second quarter. Now, great, given they they played, they
came back and scored those nine points. I'll give them
all the credit in the world. And I would never
doubt Jalen Brunson or McHale or Josh hard or anything,
but my god, they just the other team just looks like.

Speaker 3 (41:07):
When when your second team all NBA center is off
the court for the critical moments of the fourth quarter
because their coach has no confidence in guarding anybody.

Speaker 2 (41:18):
That's a really bad sign to me.

Speaker 4 (41:20):
That's not good it's a really well they're they're former
guy who would have probably been in the games now
playing for OKC.

Speaker 2 (41:25):
That right, they going the moves Amy. It was a
big loss.

Speaker 4 (41:29):
So they got they got the big guy and uh
holme Grid. So they got home and they say, you
know what, maybe we'll go out and get in another center. Yeah,
And I'm like, okay, yeah.

Speaker 2 (41:42):
It's just the ultimate I'm gonna get in your face. Yes,
take you. I'm never gonna make a dumb play on
offense if I'm opening them.

Speaker 4 (41:49):
That's why I'm not sure Ant goes off. Yeah, he
may know. They've done a and their whole focus, their
whole focus, you know, random might score twenty five because
they're gonna let him sho yeh. Their whole focus is
we're going to try to disrupture, just like Indiana's whole
focus is we're going to try to disrupt jail. And
as much as and Stale still scored thirty seven and

(42:09):
forty three or whatever the hell he got, Yeah, it's
it's a hard way to go strictly.

Speaker 3 (42:15):
One on one is incredible. He's one of the most
amazing one on one players you'll ever see. Because as
they remaining Reggers mentioning the listen of the broadcast. You know,
blocking that shot, he fades away. His footwork is ridiculous.
I about the one near the Edward he's at the
foul line. He fakes I know his niece Smith, whoever
it was, he fakes him so bad he ends up
making a layup essentially from the foul line.

Speaker 4 (42:35):
It was incredible, but you know what does and it
was hard in game one, the legs at the end. Yeah, sure,
I mean and even Cat shot. Cat got a good
look at.

Speaker 2 (42:46):
The end of Game one. But that was something that
that way short, way short.

Speaker 5 (42:50):
Something I mentioned before the series started was was the
bench issues for the Knicks, and you know the Pacers
have a better bench. And then you add in that
Game one, tobaccle Ye Game two they could have easily
won and and couldn't capitalize at the end, So you
take the demoralizing factors to put that in the mix.
I think the Knicks are in real deep. Game one,

(43:12):
I think the Pacers.

Speaker 4 (43:13):
Team won, got like seventy eight from Cat and brunts
and yeah and lost.

Speaker 2 (43:18):
Brunton has scored thirty seven and forty three. I think
my numbers are oh my god.

Speaker 4 (43:24):
Wow. Two.

Speaker 2 (43:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (43:25):
Well, and you look at the game last night and
you have you know, Brunton had what his thirty seven
I think thirty six, Bridges twenty, Karl Anthony Town's twenty
Onobi sixteen.

Speaker 2 (43:36):
They all did their job on offense. It's their bench.
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (43:38):
The bench did not have a good game in game one,
and even defensively, and that's what they need him.

Speaker 2 (43:44):
He plays defense.

Speaker 3 (43:46):
No, it's been brutal, and maybe Indiana's offense is just
that good, maybe because you're you know what truean football true?
In basketball, what tires out first is your defense because
a sudden you just go. That's why teams score at
the end of football games. And in watching Indiana, they
remind me of an old school college stand. They're pressing
ninety four feet, they're bringing in body after body and

(44:07):
eventually where that's the whole plant, John, Are you seeing
it that way?

Speaker 2 (44:11):
Yeah? Pretty much seeing it that way. They are.

Speaker 6 (44:13):
They're just trying to to kind of keep running the
floor and the pace is crazy, and we were seeing
some great action last night. There was like a back
and forth of threes, some like they're they're getting down
the court very quickly like long passes. So yeah, this
this series has been just like the pace of it
is phenomenal.

Speaker 2 (44:31):
But I don't know if the Knicks can really keep
up with you over under on the Indie Knicks for game.

Speaker 3 (44:37):
Three, Uh, just cure point over.

Speaker 2 (44:41):
Under two four. Interesting that nobody's playing a defense. No,
I'm saying that might be.

Speaker 5 (44:49):
Pacers are an offensive juggernaut. And then when you have
the Knicks that have a short rotation trying to keep
up on offense, naturally their defense is going to be.

Speaker 4 (44:56):
The game gets into the teens, the one teens, you're
going to cover them.

Speaker 3 (45:00):
Yeah, yeah, And you know what they also remind me of.
This is gonna sound crazy. Michael will remember this, but
it's not to this extreme obviously, But Loyal and Merrimouth,
they're legendary team in nineteen ninety that average one hundred
and twenty seven a game or whatever the hell it was.
Eventually you could even make a free throw by the
end of the game. That happened to the Knicks in
game one. When you're so tired, everything is hard. You

(45:22):
can't make a miss twelve free throws game.

Speaker 2 (45:25):
It just it's it's cumulative, and eventually it gets to you,
and it.

Speaker 4 (45:28):
Got to him in game one because if cat if
Kat makes that leaf free throw, then hold Burton shot
and even if it was a three, Yeah, he wouldn't
have done that though he had just come down and
shot it straight through.

Speaker 3 (45:40):
Uh but yeah, I mean that he missed one and
so did that know, and Itobi's the one that missed
the last one right before the time shot.

Speaker 2 (45:46):
But yeah, that you get tired.

Speaker 3 (45:48):
I don't care who you are, and it affects every
bit of your game and when you're playing again. That's
that's the fatal flaw of the Knicks. I like McBride,
but he's been no good in these two games. I
like the backup center, but he's got one skill.

Speaker 2 (46:04):
Would they they can't be your top bench guys. They
must lead the league exactly.

Speaker 4 (46:09):
They must lead the league in starters minutes because they Yeah,
I think they do by a ton, right, because they've
people have been talking about this since like November.

Speaker 3 (46:17):
The Knicks have no pae that. Oh even if they
had a betch, you might played it. He did that
with a ball.

Speaker 4 (46:23):
I thought they played some guys in November six. Well,
they had injuries to last year, so they had to
play guys.

Speaker 3 (46:28):
But it's just it's like, and you want these I
want these Volanova guys to advance, but I'm concerned.

Speaker 6 (46:35):
I will say it makes her fun basketball to watch, though,
because there are some stretches, like two three minute stretches
where you're watching just constant, unbelievable action.

Speaker 2 (46:43):
So it makes for fun basketball. But I'm sure it's
not fun.

Speaker 6 (46:46):
Again, as you're mentioning for the Knicks when they're a
minute like forty two and their their legs are tired
and everything, Yeah, it's different.

Speaker 2 (46:54):
They played the better basketball in Game one for like
forty four minutes. Yeah, yeah, the better team and just
you know, didn't finish the game. I thought more than anything,
they didn't fish again on defense. They just stopped guarding anybody.
And I think part of that is they were tired.
Who's that guy Bogdanovitch playing for now? Because he was
like their seventh man last year and he got hurt.
He didn't play it into sixness.

Speaker 3 (47:12):
Spend the playoffs for the Clippers. They somebody somebody I know,
I saw him.

Speaker 2 (47:17):
That's correct.

Speaker 4 (47:17):
The Nicks must have made did the Knicks just paid
too much money for their starters?

Speaker 2 (47:22):
I mean, he's that part of the problem. I don't know,
but they didn't.

Speaker 6 (47:24):
They did spend a lot of resources to get mcal Bridges.

Speaker 3 (47:28):
Yeah, that was that was all draft choices. Yeah yeah,
and he was already getting paid. But yeah, I mean
they got it. That's what they need to address. If
they don't get through and I make them a bit
of a long shot, I do want to make a
correct one. I listened to all these guys talking on TV,
even smart guys like stan Ban Gundy. Jamie Nelson told
me he was one of the great coaches ever when

(47:49):
he had him in Orlando. So when the Knicks get
an offensive rebound, they go, well, they got another possession.

Speaker 2 (47:54):
No, they didn't.

Speaker 3 (47:55):
That's the same possession. You don't get an extra possession
for an offensive. That's not how this works. Yeah, it
just it's the same possession.

Speaker 2 (48:04):
You keep it. The way it should be said is
you keep a possession a lot. That's the correct term.

Speaker 3 (48:09):
Otherwise teams would be getting ten or fifteen extra possessions.
And if you look at box scores that have all
those numbers, I look at them all the time. Typically
it's like two or three possession difference in a game.
Not fifteen or twenty. Score the ball, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (48:23):
Score the score the score the ball. But yeah, you
don't first heard that. It's not the first one I
ever heard.

Speaker 4 (48:31):
And then Jimmy Lyneham said it would surprise me Philadelphia.

Speaker 2 (48:35):
They might think score the ball, run the ball, run
the ball, and run score the push the ball. Can
you can you score? Can you score anything besides the ball?
Not to.

Speaker 6 (48:52):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (48:52):
Who knows? All right? John? You know college sports as
well as anybody.

Speaker 3 (48:56):
As as a university I mentioned as the top of
the show. Don't think you were here yet as a
university ever had a better school year than Penn State
wrestling National champs, women's volleyball National champs, football final four,
hockey Final four, today, lacrosse final four, and their.

Speaker 2 (49:19):
Baseball team baseball.

Speaker 3 (49:21):
Is in the final four of the Big Ten tournament.
And last year they played the champion.

Speaker 2 (49:25):
Of course, the only team is the best, say the
basketball team. And they're closing eight campuses.

Speaker 3 (49:33):
Where there's that, Yeah, there's that, John, your thoughts on
the your local state university having success at.

Speaker 6 (49:42):
That And they had a player in the pros go
to the U to the Super Bowl and was a
big part of it, and Carter was at top whatever
draft pick. So yeah, they're they're doing okay. I think
they're doing all right.

Speaker 2 (49:57):
And I think the football team could start the preseason
like number one. Yeah they there.

Speaker 6 (50:02):
I'm already hearing those talks that they might they might
be the best team in college football heading into at
least like predicted.

Speaker 2 (50:07):
Yeah for sure.

Speaker 4 (50:09):
Yeah, I already saw like a pre like I'm trying
to think who the team was Ohio State might have
been because they're real good too, sure.

Speaker 6 (50:17):
I just my my only thing is I don't get
the Drew Aller NFL love.

Speaker 2 (50:22):
Yeah, I don't get that yet. I don't either. It's
the old He's six five to forty, so he should
be good.

Speaker 6 (50:29):
He's got the intangibles, yeah right, the measurables, Kyle, He's
got all the measurables you want. He looks like an
NFL quarterback. The problem is does not play like one
when yours Yeah, quen you how much hype.

Speaker 2 (50:44):
Is arch Man to get?

Speaker 6 (50:47):
He's gonna get a ton already getting because he I
think he's only thrown ninety career passes and he and
the thing is in those ninety something career passes, he's
already looked the part it is. It is phenomenal how
good he actually is. But again, he's got to reach it,
and he's got to perform in a longer season and
in a more difficult situation where he's the starter for

(51:08):
the season. But I think everything's there, Like the kids
got it.

Speaker 4 (51:12):
The coach at Penn State, the football coach, better make
it further than last year.

Speaker 2 (51:17):
Last year was great, you got to the quarters. So
what do we think about the new seeds? The rational season?
I hate it. I hate it. I hate it.

Speaker 6 (51:25):
I hate when we do things just to help good teams,
like I hate that they already are good enough. That's fine,
let's say let's I don't know, it's just all it
is is because well, we want to make sure the
Big ten and the SEC get even more odds in
their favor.

Speaker 2 (51:41):
Good for that. You know what.

Speaker 4 (51:42):
It reminds me of John in pro football. Now, they
were taken away. No, your first goal every year if
you're a team win the division and we're gonna get
a home game, and you know what, like Minnesota, I
understand Minnesota got screwed last year and they I don't care.

Speaker 2 (51:58):
I don't tough crap Detroit and that last game. Yeah whatever,
I mean, I know it's not so they don't.

Speaker 6 (52:03):
We don't like this, we don't well, I mean I
hate I personally hate it.

Speaker 2 (52:08):
I get it, but I wasn't in love with Poison.
I wasn't in love with Poise being the three, Arizona
State the four seat. But they played, they played, they out.

Speaker 6 (52:17):
Played pretty well, but they absolutely outplayed that.

Speaker 2 (52:21):
It's new. I mean, we know who the top four
seeds are gonna be. Just sit there.

Speaker 4 (52:23):
I mean it's gonna be a higher state, Penn State,
and then two SEC teams to be Texas and Georgia.

Speaker 2 (52:31):
Ye, I'll just do Georgia in there. Yeah, that's actually
that's probably what it would be.

Speaker 4 (52:35):
And Poise State and Arizona State now will have no
chance whatsoever because the.

Speaker 2 (52:40):
Bluefield could host the game. That could be the window
the top eight. Do you think they're gonna make Boise
top eight?

Speaker 3 (52:45):
Probably no, probably not, but yeah, I guess the only
downside is if you're Penn State, they love that extra
home game. State college. They'd like to be number five. Ye,
you get a home game again in December. Sell out, hotels,
restaurants are all excited.

Speaker 2 (52:59):
So I just I cannabis. We're a note of this.

Speaker 6 (53:02):
Yeah, I will never get behind sports trying to be fair.

Speaker 2 (53:06):
It never is going to be fair. Stop trying to
do that. It's not fair. I mean, who played it boys?
Just push isn't fair. It was a Penn State to play.

Speaker 6 (53:14):
Who played it boys, buddy, nobody by because they had
to buy and then they played him.

Speaker 2 (53:20):
Yes, I got you. So the second game was a
neutral site, I got you. Okay, they had s m
U came to State College and.

Speaker 6 (53:27):
Less than Oh that was so much fun to want.
The quarterback had a complete meltdown.

Speaker 2 (53:32):
Warm June Saturday, specially.

Speaker 6 (53:35):
No chance and the quarterback have like three picks in
the first Yes, completely melted down.

Speaker 4 (53:42):
But again to John's point, and I think he's as
much as the best team usually is going to win.

Speaker 2 (53:47):
I mean we know that he's going to probably turned
out the best team.

Speaker 4 (53:50):
Yes, most years, I think they do, where the second
best team wins.

Speaker 2 (53:54):
Especially in college football.

Speaker 4 (53:55):
For the most college football would just give the poor
buggers a shot, you know, would it be.

Speaker 2 (54:00):
The worst shot for one year? They said, that's it.

Speaker 4 (54:02):
You wouldn't be the worst thing in the world of
Boise State had a game on a blue field, and
God forbid, Penn State had to go there and Michigan
had to go there.

Speaker 1 (54:11):
You know.

Speaker 3 (54:13):
Yeah, so this is strictly a committee decides one through twelve.

Speaker 2 (54:17):
Now is that all we got?

Speaker 1 (54:18):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (54:18):
I believe they just go one through twelve.

Speaker 4 (54:19):
Yeah, in the first four, and so it just goes
by ranking in the first four story and then but
they're going to expand it next year, right, They're gonna
be fourteen next year fourteen.

Speaker 2 (54:27):
I think they went to fourteen. They're thinking about sixteen.
They're not the year after that, they're doing a field
of sixty four. The best thing is, and I can't
it's gonna be played in March.

Speaker 4 (54:39):
The first round is I believe December twentieth. I think
I got the data stre.

Speaker 2 (54:44):
The NFL was playing that day.

Speaker 4 (54:47):
They've got three games that day, and I think the
Eagles are one of them.

Speaker 2 (54:51):
The NFL they want, I.

Speaker 4 (54:52):
Mean, come on, can't you give college football like they
don't care?

Speaker 2 (54:57):
There's no breaks, right, I.

Speaker 4 (55:00):
Think, John, what do you think more people are going
to watch the pro football playoffs or to college football player.

Speaker 2 (55:07):
Pro football, pro football regular season? I'm sorry, yeah.

Speaker 6 (55:10):
No, pro It could be the Jets and whatever other
crack Cleveland and it'll be still more watched. But I think,
but you know what, I won't be I won't be
one of them. I will be watching college football.

Speaker 2 (55:22):
If playing, you'd be watching. Yeah, well I'll watch any
college football. I'm a College football is better. It's a
fun person. It's a fun spot.

Speaker 4 (55:31):
All one hundred and thirty eight starting quarterbacks and where
they played last year.

Speaker 2 (55:36):
And I'm not there yet.

Speaker 6 (55:38):
So the Phil Steel magazine comes out soon, so I
will be there very soon.

Speaker 3 (55:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (55:43):
Phil is awesome. He's so good.

Speaker 5 (55:45):
By the way, before we get to break, put on
the Phillies game last night and I'm looking at the
scoreboard and it says at h I'm like eight eight oh.

Speaker 6 (55:54):
Because they don't have a city. Yes, they don't like
they're they're Kyle, their free runner. They're at their hitchhiking athletics.

Speaker 4 (56:02):
Yeah, they're just the athletics, baby, like you'll Washlake football.

Speaker 2 (56:05):
Yeah, this is super.

Speaker 6 (56:06):
The nomads. They just go, they go wherever the road
takes them.

Speaker 2 (56:10):

political statement?

Speaker 2 (57:46):
By the way, is this? Yeah, Bruce? You know by me?
I got no problem with that, Yeah I did.

Speaker 6 (57:52):
I just wasn't expecting that from benar really a political
guy in the very political Yeah. Now, now he's making
a making a statement here apparently, Fruce.

Speaker 2 (58:00):
Ten o'clock hours. Typically that's right, Yeah, you know we
do get at the top of the hour.

Speaker 3 (58:05):
So now Seawan is okay, that's John Chanson in the

Schwab This weekend, Mike.

Speaker 4 (58:18):
The Old the Old Colonial where Annika played in two
thousand and three, and I.

Speaker 2 (58:23):
Was there neat little Town Fort Worth, Texas. It was
Ben Hogan's Uh kind of isn't that the home of
Texas Christian University?

Speaker 1 (58:32):
It is?

Speaker 2 (58:33):
It is? John, Uh, you can Dallas.

Speaker 4 (58:36):
You would like it, John, because you can get a
lot of good food down there.

Speaker 6 (58:39):
Oh yeah, well I the one time I was in Texas,
I was in Dallas and uh in and out, in
and out was fantastic.

Speaker 2 (58:47):
Yeah, but in and out of California place they.

Speaker 6 (58:49):
Don't burg Okay, I've not tried what a burger yet.

Speaker 2 (58:53):
I went to the Westwood in and out when I
was in U c l A. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (58:57):
Yeah, Californians that that's their thing. They love the in
and out. Okay, we don't have the biggest thing to
come out yesterday was Scottie Scheffler made a swing like
the tenth ole, grabbed his back and wins. So I
don't know what that means. He's still twenty eight to one,
but he's like one hundred strokes back. So that Ben
Griffin is leading, tied with some guy named Matty Schmid

(59:19):
who actually has three top tens this year. John John
Pack is two back. Rio I'm gonna pronounce. I haven't
heard of any of these, none of Rio is a
tour is four back, but he's actually got three top
tens and played well. I believe in the PGA. Our
good friend Battilla is also four back. Rickey Fowlers five back,

(59:43):
and your favorite guy Fleetwood.

Speaker 2 (59:45):
Who is still trying to win his first.

Speaker 4 (59:48):
He's also five back South Griffin's three to one.

Speaker 2 (59:51):
We ain't betting him. Schmid a four to.

Speaker 4 (59:54):
One actually, because you're getting four to one on a
guy who's tied for the league. Now we don't want
to his sad tune. I'm pronouncing that wrong. Is twenty
to one and four. But again, we got another round
to go, So two rounds ago I would lean usually
I and this is going.

Speaker 2 (01:00:11):
To kill me because I just go for it. Batilla
is fourteen to one, and I like him and I
know him. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:00:17):
So, and just for Dick, I'll throw Fleetwood in there
at twelve to one. If you gotta win, something's gotta
win sometime. He's a really good golfer.

Speaker 2 (01:00:25):
We'll take him both. So I got two, got two
people in the top ten that we know their names.
Two golf things, a story in a rift. Do the
story first.

Speaker 4 (01:00:34):
Our good friend Mike Baldini texted me last Sunday at
two o'clock. Yep, Mike, you got any any thoughts on
the any play for any plays? So I'm thinking, well,
this is like secretary at the Belmont, Like you know,
Cheffer's up five. So I said them basically the same
thing I said to you guys. I said, look, Rom
and and you only know the two guys. I could
maybe play a Rom. I don't think they're going to win.

(01:00:57):
But And, I said, you might would have bet him
top five because they were like even money. So he
gets back to me later, I said, and then Rom,
with like seven or eight holes ago, take the lead.

Speaker 2 (01:01:07):
And I'm thinking, so I said to him, he says, well,
I played Rom.

Speaker 4 (01:01:10):
I didn't play the sham. I said, well, good for you.
I said, good, good job. And then Rom, of course
bakes a double bow. You're in the last role to
take him out of a tie for second or a
tie for third or whatever.

Speaker 2 (01:01:20):
You would have cash.

Speaker 4 (01:01:20):
But I just thought that was funny that Mike would
ask me on Sunday with Cheffler up by five. He
knows your reputation. Man, I couldn't. I couldn't give him Scheffler.
Like my mind was like, I couldn't have done it.

Speaker 2 (01:01:33):
Money might Now.

Speaker 4 (01:01:33):
My other thing is so last year, last week there
was some controversy because apparently the PGA Tour every week
I think test golfers equipment because if you hit it
club enough, the club will go out of shape or
something and then.

Speaker 2 (01:01:47):
You can't use it anymore. So they did it the
rard and then Rory played like.

Speaker 4 (01:01:51):
Crap and you didn't come in because he didn'tn't talk, Rory.
He talked before the tournament, but he didn't. Rory, you
just won the Masters. You're the most popular golfer probably
work one. You gotta talk, dude, because now when you
get to your next stop, whatever that may be, where
it's the US opening a couple of weeks wherever, the
first question is going to be, hey, Rory and he

(01:02:13):
and what he what he leaves it is like, well
maybe I was wronged or maybe whatever. Oh yeah, But
then it comes at it maybe he was wrong well
because he got tested and they took his club out
of play.

Speaker 2 (01:02:23):
Whatever. Why don't they test every day?

Speaker 4 (01:02:25):
Well that's what Xander shawf Lee said. He said, but
what comes out after the tournament. Cheffer had to play
with a new driver too worked out, and by the way,
he didn't this is the thing.

Speaker 2 (01:02:35):
The first two days he didn't play that well.

Speaker 4 (01:02:36):
Now he's got five, he's got two hundred, but he
even said I was scuffling. And then the last day
for anybody to watch last Sunday, the first nine holes
he could hit a ball. It was in the trees
every hole, and then he figured it out. But again,
Rory owes it to God, I'll never forget when Tiger
won the ninety seven Masters, his first major as a pro.

Speaker 2 (01:02:56):
Wins by twelve.

Speaker 4 (01:02:57):
The whole thing goes to the US Opening Congressional two
months and shoots like the first day show like seventy five, and.

Speaker 2 (01:03:02):
He was walking off the course he wasn't going to talk.

Speaker 4 (01:03:03):
And one of the ap pool reporters went and and
Jack Nicholas said, when you're Tiger Woods, you talk whether
you shoot sixty five. Because Jack Nicholas had to do
that his whole life. That's just what Now other sports
make you talk, right, like in the NBA, you got
and all I'm saying is all I'm saying is one
of the four days, Rory just say something.

Speaker 2 (01:03:24):
I mean, you're you're, you're Rory.

Speaker 5 (01:03:25):
You're the face of the PGA right now, right, I mean,
just you gotta represent.

Speaker 2 (01:03:29):
Yeah. But now but again he and I don't know why, Yeah,
he went from being one of the most media friendly
guys in the sport. So now I think he was
upset this whole Live PGA thing that was a.

Speaker 4 (01:03:40):
Problem, in all fairness did to Rory. Yeah, I'll give
him this. He took the worst of it. He was
the face of it. The tour kind of sold him out,
although now it looks like they're not going to merge
with Live. But again, Rory was at the forefront of him,
so I give him that much. But in this instance, dude,
you won the major and got celebrated. Just say, hey,

(01:04:00):
it was unfortunate my driver didn't conform. Yeah it was
and I I maybe I could have handled it better.
Maybe they could have handled it better. And you move on.
Then it's done. Now it's it's like a lingering. Yeah,
I thought, Ever it doesn't have to be. I thought
it was silly. Uh yeah, just speak, have something to say.
I want to.

Speaker 2 (01:04:16):
Hear what you have to say to me.

Speaker 4 (01:04:17):
The most interesting thing was when Cheffer this guy done
said yeah, they took my driver.

Speaker 2 (01:04:22):
I'm like wow.

Speaker 4 (01:04:23):
By the way, Scotty Scheffler, who who The greatest thing
about Scotty Scheffler, He just doesn't change his expression.

Speaker 2 (01:04:30):
Double Bogie Eagle.

Speaker 4 (01:04:31):
Afterwards, they had him his post game with CBS or
I guess CBS had it.

Speaker 2 (01:04:36):
He let him, he let like he he was like
a normal person.

Speaker 4 (01:04:39):
You were listening to him. I thought that was awesome.
But you know, it's very even keeled.

Speaker 5 (01:04:45):
How about when he had to go bring his scorecard in,
he brings his his child and you know, puts him down,
gives them some GOP equipment to play with while he goes.

Speaker 2 (01:04:54):
And his wife. And by the way, it's just an
observation from the bad thing to do.

Speaker 4 (01:04:58):
A couple of years ago, when Bryson Shambau won the
twenty twenty US Open, he was basically viewed as an
idiot because he was kind of arrogant, this that whatever.

Speaker 2 (01:05:07):
Now I love him everybody.

Speaker 4 (01:05:09):
I think he's one of the most and I think
last year when he wanted at Pinehurst, what he did,
like sticking around for a half hour talking to the
but I mean he to me and I know Rory
didn't talk to him the last round of the Masters,
and Rory that that was his game.

Speaker 2 (01:05:22):
Whatever.

Speaker 4 (01:05:23):
But man to see him like interact with the fans
and hit the ball and think, you know, because you're
not what did you like about Tiger not the Tager
interacted with the fans as well.

Speaker 2 (01:05:33):
But the fans loved it. They loved the Shambeau.

Speaker 4 (01:05:36):
They just love him when he hits the ball nine
nine or one hundred and ninety eight yards over to.

Speaker 2 (01:05:40):
He's the most popular player. And I think he's going
to I never see him except four times, four times
a year, and that's all you see.

Speaker 4 (01:05:46):
Rom and rom Let his emotions get the best of
him with But now you're going to the US Open
with Scheffler. Maybe would have I don't know what's a
bat and the plane of course where length is everything. Oakmont, Rory,
the Shambeau, rom and Scheffler gonna be the four favorite.
And I'll tell you what, Dishambeau intrigues me. Every time
he goes out there.

Speaker 2 (01:06:05):
There is my god. He's fun definitely. And by the way,
I'm playing Pine Valley tomorrow.

Speaker 4 (01:06:10):
Mike Kerrn on Pine Valley, you will get a report
next year next week early in the since I gotta
leave early.

Speaker 2 (01:06:16):
About that, John Jacos Pine Valley Pine.

Speaker 4 (01:06:20):
What do you think, John, about one hundred and ten
for me one hundred and ten?

Speaker 2 (01:06:24):
Well, look, if I play score, my score forty our part.
I mean I think you can do better than that.

Speaker 4 (01:06:30):
Well, here's the thing. Apparently the senior teaser sixty one hundred.
I don't play sixty one. I usually play maybe fifty
two or whatever wherever I go I have, so that
could be an issue if I play length, which that
is a glaring issue, you don't, I mean, if I
play the real rules, I shoot one hundred and fifty.

Speaker 2 (01:06:48):
So whatever, I guess.

Speaker 4 (01:06:50):
If I have a fighting chance, could I make a
should I make it ten thirty?

Speaker 2 (01:06:55):
Could I make a couple of pars?

Speaker 4 (01:06:57):
Maybe, because there's a couple of parts of these, maybe
maybe seven or eight bogies, all right, and then you know.

Speaker 2 (01:07:04):
And if she shouted like a ninety seven.

Speaker 4 (01:07:07):
Maybe, well ninety seven would be a mass I mean
cheating in the sense that I would take a mulligan
here or there.

Speaker 2 (01:07:13):
You have to or my host would look at me.
Take this, move your ball. I need a report. Report. Yeah,
next week.

Speaker 4 (01:07:18):
I think you can definitely twenty years in the nineties.

Speaker 2 (01:07:23):
I believe I'd like your enthusiasm.

Speaker 3 (01:07:25):
John, I'm not as optimistic. Depends on where the golf
police are out or not.

Speaker 2 (01:07:31):
You got probably why do you fluff that up there? Mike?

Speaker 3 (01:07:34):
All right, I've been I've been saving us up for
almost seven days like this. I have a ram now.
So who's who saw the Preakness last week? Mike said,
sure I did. I did not see it. I did not.

Speaker 2 (01:07:47):
Did you see it? No?

Speaker 3 (01:07:48):
Unfortunately, so people that don't really follow horse right to
eight we're rooting for the two eight, would not know this,
but the ride on journalism was one of the worst
in big time horse racing history. The horse was so
good that he overcame his idiot rider who tried to

(01:08:09):
basically put him in the middle into a hole between
two horses that did not exist. And if you've ever
seen a race track, there's a lot of room on
race tracks, and the thing you would like to do
with the best horse is let the horse see sky
in front of him instead of horses asses. It's just

(01:08:30):
a better thing. When you're running, you'd like to not
have to slow down. So my man, and you love this, Mike.
Thursday night, I'm at Chipperell. He's the legendary Italian Salarra
in Baldon Ellen with Dave Grinning, Jake Brivman from the
Racing Form and Randy Mossy does such a great job
on NBC for the horse racing as their analyst, and

(01:08:54):
we're getting ready to leave about eight thirty.

Speaker 2 (01:08:57):
And who works in.

Speaker 3 (01:08:58):
But verto Risked and his family from Italy, the rider
of journalism. And he wrote him very poorly in the
Santa Nita Derby got him in a bad spot. The
horse was so good he won anyway, He didn't ride
a particularly well. In Kentucky, the horse was second overcame
the rider. It wasn't necessarily his fault. But well, in Baltimore,

(01:09:21):
we're coming around the far turn and he's in position
or else he has to do is point his horse
to the outside, and he's going to run by these horses.

Speaker 2 (01:09:29):
Like they're standing still. So what does my man do?
He says, you know what, I don't want to make
this easy.

Speaker 3 (01:09:36):
I want to go to the inside where I think
the eight is going to keep running. The horse, I like,
for a second turned out the eight stopped and oh,
by the way, there's another horse right next to the eight,
And you know what, I'll just barrel right in between
the two of them. And then by the time I
finally knock each one of those almost over this crazy

(01:09:58):
long shot Gozger, the nine horse will be five lenks
in front with two hundred yards to go, and I'm
sitting in the old Publico grandstand where he used to
sit back in the day when I was a young
boy watching horse races. For the first time in my
life to watch my last Preakness at this Peblico, and
I am just cursing this idiot.

Speaker 2 (01:10:18):
Because he has lost the race. He has totally blown
the race.

Speaker 3 (01:10:21):
But out of nowhere, this horse starts running like he's
in the.

Speaker 2 (01:10:25):
Arc de Triope.

Speaker 3 (01:10:26):
He's a European turf horse, and he comes flying the
last hundred yards and runs by Goskar in the shadow
of the wire. And everybody is then praising this brilliant
ride by this thirty six year old rider from Italy
who's been in America for five years.

Speaker 2 (01:10:42):
He is a moron. He should never ride this horse
again the rest of his life.

Speaker 6 (01:10:47):
And I ask you, somebody riding journalism almost into the ground.

Speaker 2 (01:10:51):
I've never heard that story before. Yeah, there was that too.

Speaker 3 (01:10:54):
He was trying to journalism doesn't have enough problems, and
trying to kill journalism.

Speaker 2 (01:11:00):
Just somebody else trying to kill journalism.

Speaker 3 (01:11:02):
Right yards last two hundred yards was slightly over twelve seconds.

Speaker 2 (01:11:07):
It was awesome. You can't go any fair. Horses can't
run fast. I didn't think he had a shot, no chance.
I mean, it was just I'm watching, I'm seeing it
a lot.

Speaker 3 (01:11:16):
Yeah, and he's like at least five lengths behind, and
you look at are your five links behind? You look
at where he is, you look at where the wire is,
and you go, there's no what. But he'd length to
de stride. He was so good, this idiot. And then
and then he's all excited and I'm the greatest, No,
you're full, you were lucky.

Speaker 2 (01:11:35):
When we're thank you, I'm not going to him. He
just summed up everything.

Speaker 4 (01:11:39):
I'm not gonna take it into Belmont now that you
told me that, because that doesn't seem like The trainer.

Speaker 3 (01:11:44):
Is a very good friend of mine, and I was
with him late Saturday night and it was all I
could do.

Speaker 2 (01:11:51):
And here's a guy who was.

Speaker 4 (01:11:52):
The guy that interviewed on the TV that had lost
his home in La Alta Dina.

Speaker 3 (01:11:56):
His home is still standing, but his neighborhood is shot right,
and he doesn't know what I will be able to
go back. And it was all I could do to
say to him, you can't let this kid ride this horse, agay,
but I did.

Speaker 2 (01:12:08):
He's celebrating. It's the breatness. It's nine point thirty, it's
Saturday night.

Speaker 3 (01:12:12):
I'm leaving Pema cover for the last time, although I
came back the next day just see what was going on.

Speaker 2 (01:12:17):
And I'm going this, This sport is not that hard.

Speaker 3 (01:12:22):
All you have to do is a jockey, when you're
on the best horse, give him a place to run.

Speaker 2 (01:12:28):
My man riskfully.

Speaker 3 (01:12:30):
And now he's blaming other riders and he's saying it
wasn't my fault.

Speaker 2 (01:12:35):
I had to do this. I had to do that. You, sir,
are an idiot.

Speaker 4 (01:12:40):
Like me as a a layperson kind of watching the race.
It looked to me like the horse kind of went
into him. Whatever the horse he hit like kind of
hit Baffert's horse. Okay, look like backward, but again you
know horse face.

Speaker 3 (01:12:54):
And I don't, right, So what happened was so he's
behind there's two horse. He's behind the there's the eight
or on the rail and the one just to the outside,
and journalism is the two and instead of and this
is the movie, he should have made like one hundred
yards before, instead of being already being outside of their
traffic he's got nowhere to go, so he just wants

(01:13:15):
to bull his way through where there's no space. So
what happened was he hit the backside of number one
Baffords horse, and then you saw the front side of
number one's head turned toward him. That's why they had
turned toward him, because he hit the backside. If one
thing's going one way, you're an animal. The other's going
the other way. And then he finally he gets through.

(01:13:36):
He extricates himself for this disaster, and then the horse
just fine.

Speaker 2 (01:13:40):
So should he have went around the one?

Speaker 3 (01:13:42):
He should have gone around or just gone away from
the rail earlier earlier, but by that time he was
screwed because there.

Speaker 2 (01:13:49):
Was nowhere to go. He thought the eight was going
to beat her till the end.

Speaker 3 (01:13:52):
I guess correct, And I will say this, that was
not an outrageous thought and it was my thought.

Speaker 2 (01:13:58):
I thought the eight was going to be three likes
in front at the top. Turned out the eight.

Speaker 3 (01:14:02):
Collapsed and then the eight got fouled essentially by journalism.
The eight finish last, and they're not taking anybody down door.
Should they should they have? But again, horse racing is
not a complicated sport. They really if I could change
one thing about it, robots would be riding these out
there may.

Speaker 2 (01:14:19):
Be some day get rid of these people.

Speaker 4 (01:14:21):
So you would like, without asking you two weeks away,
give me flopping now, you would like sovereignty over.

Speaker 3 (01:14:28):
No, no, no, like Journalism. Journal is the best horse
by far. He was the best horse in Kentucky. It
was just like it was just circumstance. What is these
guys that is like seven eight horses at Belmont? Maybe yeah,
we got at the moment Sovereignty won. The Derby will
be in Baeza, who is a fast closing third will
be in Baffert, who has not particularly distinguished himself in

(01:14:53):
this triple Crown will be in with a horse called Rodriguez.
And Journalism is at Saratoga. They have the attention of running.
They want to see how he's doing, make sure everything's good.
He'll be the only horse to run at all three legs,
which is a huge disadvantage.

Speaker 2 (01:15:08):
Given that some of these other horses have been waiting.

Speaker 3 (01:15:11):
But he's just probably better than all these I don't
think they're going to change jockeys after.

Speaker 2 (01:15:15):
They just won the Preakness, but they should. Does this
guys that don't.

Speaker 4 (01:15:18):
Does it make any difference that do it Saratoga instead
of because I mean the great thing about Belmont is
that home stretch.

Speaker 2 (01:15:23):
I mean we all see that every year.

Speaker 3 (01:15:25):
And they can't run the race of a mile and
a half because it's it's the running at the Derby distance.

Speaker 2 (01:15:31):
Oh so we're not going to see a mile and
a half race. That's correct, same as last year. They
can't do it at Saratoga. Starting going to turn.

Speaker 3 (01:15:38):
Its just it's just the configuration of the restaurant does
not work.

Speaker 2 (01:15:42):
Okay, So that's the issue. So that's my it's my
rent for the day. It's a good one. I appreciate that. Yeah,
and you don't. You don't get a dictor already rant
often and.

Speaker 3 (01:15:54):
I saw and iurst won. Anyway, I saw the rider again.
I saw him at Chiparelli's.

Speaker 2 (01:16:00):
And we had told.

Speaker 3 (01:16:01):
Helen by the way, like your favorite waitress, to bet
on journalism. So she she should have cast it even money.
Here's another wild thing about Saturday. So journalism six to
five the whole time, and then at the last minute,
a boatload of money comes in and he's even. He
goes off at even money. The exact which ended up

(01:16:21):
being a two.

Speaker 2 (01:16:22):
Nine, and I didn't like Oscar at all.

Speaker 3 (01:16:24):
Was paying sixty dollars for a dollar with two minutes left.
These guys, known as the computer assisted wagering guys, bet
so much that the exact that went from.

Speaker 2 (01:16:35):
Sixty to thirty.

Speaker 3 (01:16:37):
And we estimate they wanted about three million.

Speaker 2 (01:16:40):
These guys, oh the exactly So were they just putting
journalism with everybody?

Speaker 3 (01:16:44):
I mean exact guy, they were mostly putting journalism with Goscar.

Speaker 2 (01:16:47):
I have no idea, I have no clue what they knew.
They knew more than sure. I don't bet.

Speaker 3 (01:16:52):
I try not to bet against those guys because there's
they have more money. They're like they they're like the
guy in a playing hold them that has the.

Speaker 2 (01:16:59):
Big that's the biggest stack.

Speaker 3 (01:17:01):
You're not you're probably not beating because God doesn't matter
what kind of cards you're getting.

Speaker 4 (01:17:06):
Gods or God bless him had nothing left at the end.
But he he didn't have to.

Speaker 3 (01:17:10):
I mean, he ran the race of land and race
and you know, and he looked like he had the
race one sure did and he went.

Speaker 2 (01:17:17):
From twenty to fifteen in the last What would the
nine two have paid A couple hundred, No, no, sixty
for a dollar. Wow, they pounded that. They pounded that too, Okay,
They meaning.

Speaker 3 (01:17:31):
The guys that have computers attached to the mutual systems
of these race tracks.

Speaker 2 (01:17:36):
They get last show. It's totally unfair to the rest
of us.

Speaker 3 (01:17:40):
But because horse racing is a volume betting game, all
these tracks wanted because they get a percentage of the volume.

Speaker 4 (01:17:45):
They don't care, which you are totally right, by the way,
about poker, like holding poker the guy you can't play.
If some guy's got three times to many chips, as
we're in trouble, how do I play him? You're here
a big because you know.

Speaker 2 (01:17:58):
You have to cherry pick which hand you're gonna go
on in on.

Speaker 3 (01:18:00):
Yeah, I don't understand that game at all. And you
know the guys that are good at it are good
at it. I would never play against these guys. They say,
you're playing, You're not playing, You're not playing.

Speaker 2 (01:18:09):
I don't know anything.

Speaker 3 (01:18:10):
I would not be easy to read because I don't
know what the hell I'm doing. That would be very
I would not becoming.

Speaker 2 (01:18:16):
You looked very confused.

Speaker 4 (01:18:18):
Again, he's a really good final the final four in
ninety seven. You were reading that Arizona fan though. I
never forget you sitting there and you just like threw
your money in the middle.

Speaker 3 (01:18:31):
I was just taunting that poor guy all and I
taunted his They won the game, but I don't think
I got all the money pokers.

Speaker 2 (01:18:39):
Hold. I never played Hold.

Speaker 4 (01:18:41):
I don't know about it. No, no, yeah, I know nothing
about Simon. What was Miles Simon?

Speaker 2 (01:18:45):
Miles Simon saw him later in Steak and Shape.

Speaker 3 (01:18:49):
Very nice. We got to take our final break. Uh,
then we're gonna come back. I don't know what we're
gonna talk about, but we'll figure it out.

Speaker 6 (01:18:56):
John, you got some baseball Yeah, I can get some
baseball picks, John Jansen.

Speaker 2 (01:19:00):
Didn't you stay in the whole show? Uh? Yes, yeah,
I'm here. What's going on? You feel all right? We'll
see in the next segment. We'll see. We'll see about
that Rock. I may be like the Knicks. I may
be a little bit too tired.

Speaker 6 (01:19:14):
Who knows them what my performance is going to be
like towards uh the final stretch.

Speaker 4 (01:19:19):
I think the Pirates should trade Paul Skeins. I think
that would be.

Speaker 2 (01:19:22):
The movement that would be great for baseball. Yeah, we
have confidence in each to the Phillies final half hour
coming up.

Speaker 3 (01:19:29):

It's the Gambler.

mat must be twenty one and an MJPA Maryland ohire

us some baseball picks.

Speaker 6 (01:20:43):
So before I give out a pick, I do want
to go over just a spread, just a line here,
major League Baseball, because you do not see this often.

Speaker 2 (01:20:51):
So the New York Yankees, I told you.

Speaker 6 (01:20:53):
One of the better teams in Major League Baseball thirty
and twenty this season, are going up against the nine
and four two Colorado Rockies.

Speaker 2 (01:21:02):
MaTx Freed six.

Speaker 6 (01:21:03):
And oh one point two nine e RA on the
mound for the Yankees. Kyle Friedland on the mound for Colorado,
who is oh and six with the five point six
eight e R. The run line is three and a half.
I have never, I cannot recall ever seeing a three
and a half run line. And guess what I'm taking

(01:21:26):
it giving it. I'm taking it.

Speaker 2 (01:21:27):
Friedland actually pitched pretty well against the Phillies that.

Speaker 6 (01:21:29):
Did not not today, So John, not today.

Speaker 2 (01:21:34):
John, I am.

Speaker 6 (01:21:37):
I am giving the three and a half runs at
plus one ten odds.

Speaker 2 (01:21:41):
See, I don't know about that. I'm doing it.

Speaker 3 (01:21:43):
What a good prop would be? Aaron Judge more runs
than Colorado?

Speaker 2 (01:21:48):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, produced it is.

Speaker 6 (01:21:51):
It is not likely a great bet, and Colorado didn't win, laid.

Speaker 4 (01:21:55):
The three fifty Yes, sure in a quarter or whatever
the hell the number is. So it's like, it's like
when Wheels goes to the mound. Wheels was pitching against
some future team last week. Yeah, but this was I
think when we were talking, like and then the line
was like whatever it was, who cares.

Speaker 2 (01:22:12):
Just he's going to give up one. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:22:14):
So usually my my principle is this is usually a
number I would bet the underdog because Colorado is going
to win games. Colorado did beat the Yankees like they
they can win these games, so usually I would, But
I again, I don't know about this.

Speaker 2 (01:22:31):
One once this season, John Once, that's incredible. That's right,
That's right, that's incredible. Once. What else you got for us, Jock.

Speaker 6 (01:22:42):
So I'm gonna go with the Chicago Cubs against the
Reds Cubs.

Speaker 2 (01:22:47):
Right now.

Speaker 6 (01:22:47):
In the past two weeks, they have a runs created
plus a weighted runs created plus a one twenty nine,
which sits them at second in Major League Baseball.

Speaker 2 (01:22:55):
That time.

Speaker 6 (01:22:55):
They're hitting well. Pete craw Armstrong has just been awesome
for them. They have a good picture on the mound.
Ray at three and oh with a two point three
eight EER, So I like the Cubs. Abbot's been really
good for Cincinnati three and oh one point eight zero ERA,
but I'm just gonna go with the better offense here,
and I think just the better team overall with the Cubs.

Speaker 2 (01:23:15):
So I like the Cubbies.

Speaker 6 (01:23:16):
I'm also going to go with the Saint Louis Cardinals
quietly have been pretty good this season.

Speaker 1 (01:23:22):
Now.

Speaker 6 (01:23:23):
Wasn't too sure how the Cardinals are going going to be,
but right now it looks like they are going to
be fighting there in the NL and DNL Central excuse me,
and right they have Libra Tour on the mound three
and three two point nine two ERA. Love the Cardinals
at home, they're only minus one fifteen, so it's a
very short number for a team that's playing pretty good baseball.
They're playing the Arizona Diamondbacks, so we're twenty six to

(01:23:43):
twenty five. They have Merrill Kelly on the mound, so
of course that's what's going to shorten the line a
little bit. But again, I think I'm getting Saint Louis
is the better team with the better pitcher at home,
and it's only minus one to fifteen, So you're paying
a pretty small amount of chuse for that one.

Speaker 4 (01:23:56):
So I do like the Sles cold prediction. Yeah, Cubbies
are going to meet in the postseason. I don't know,
probably early. I guess if they were. If they're like me,
that'd be a fun series. Phillies, Yeah, I would love
and I would not necessarily say the Phillies are just
going to automatically win that series.

Speaker 2 (01:24:14):
No, no, nothing is automatic. That's true. Good point, just
the nature all right, hockey? Uh, you got any more
baseball before I get it? A hockey?

Speaker 6 (01:24:21):
All real quick? Minus one forty five. It's a little
bit of juice. But Detroit's been awesome. Casey Mice is
on the mound. I'll just bet on Casey Mice and
they're playing. They're playing. The Cleveland Guardians were good, but
the pitching matchup favors Detroit great.

Speaker 4 (01:24:36):
They just lost their picture to Tommy John So everybody
loses a picture to Tommy John.

Speaker 2 (01:24:40):
Ser it's unbelievable. Horse suspension for Pete. Well, we're not too.

Speaker 3 (01:24:43):
Yeah, we're down to one Canadian team left. Poor Toronto.
Like how many game sevensy lost? They've lost seven straight
Game seven and Marsham Marshan has played in five.

Speaker 2 (01:24:56):
Of them and one all of them for Boire. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:24:59):
Well in then, now he's with Florida and they haven't
won a game seven since two thousand and four. And
I know they're they're just the sorry, but they're good
enough to get there and they never win. And you
know what that remind you said? That's on Doc Rivers.
I got the seven game seven team.

Speaker 5 (01:25:21):
Could you imagine in phild he was coaching the Knicks
in game one?

Speaker 2 (01:25:25):
Another great number.

Speaker 4 (01:25:26):
When we get to Carolina, but can you imagine in
Philadelphia think about this? Yeah, if we had lost seven
straight game sevens over like an eighteen year period, are
you kidding me? And they've been outscoring and some of
them were at home. This one was twenty eight to
nine in those seven games.

Speaker 2 (01:25:42):
All right.

Speaker 3 (01:25:42):
So for the people that are still paying attention to hockey,
and I'm only paying attention attention, Yeah, I'm rooting for Edmonton.

Speaker 2 (01:25:48):
I want to say, sure McDavid.

Speaker 3 (01:25:50):
I was in Canada win for the first time in
thirty two years, ninety three Canadians. So Carolina has been
outscored in the two games that by what fifteenth and
nothing or something.

Speaker 4 (01:26:02):
Carolina has lost fourteen straight for Eastern Conference Final games.

Speaker 2 (01:26:09):
Going back wait, manute and it swept three times? Gets better,
all right?

Speaker 4 (01:26:13):
Going back to two thousand and six when they won
the Cup with Rod Brendan Moore as their coach, is
he's still the coach? I don't think he is. Yeah,
that would be a long time in the NHL to
be a coach if anybody Rod Brandon was still the
coach Team.

Speaker 2 (01:26:27):
Straight in the Eastern Conference Final? What did they get
out scored by at home? And these Oh well it
was five nothing the other night. I don't know what
game was at five to two.

Speaker 4 (01:26:35):
So tend to too, tend to two Florida Panthers Again,
I say this, they just can't beat him.

Speaker 6 (01:26:39):
There's like certain teams that you just can't beat no
matter what it is, and that's that's Florida.

Speaker 2 (01:26:43):
With Team Straight.

Speaker 4 (01:26:44):
Johnny got swept in three straight Eastern Conference Finals and
now this one they're down, oh two, going to Florida,
Going to Florida, which is defending.

Speaker 3 (01:26:53):
The other side. For those who stayed up last night,
Edmonton with a shutout. Edmonton has dominated the Stars in
Dallas for five of the sixth period in the fourth
third period.

Speaker 2 (01:27:02):
On the other night, they see what they got. They got.

Speaker 4 (01:27:05):
They got mad last night because apparently people were questioning
that they can't play defense. So after the game they're like, yeah,
we can't play the three to shut you out. And
Dallas is pretty good. Back to Edmonton, we're rooting for Edmond.

Speaker 2 (01:27:16):
Absolutely, they got the best player in the world. Yeah
for a guy.

Speaker 3 (01:27:20):
One of my friends who really knows right, I said
I might win the m v P. He says, McDavid's
the best player he's seen since Gretzky.

Speaker 4 (01:27:28):
He was like the greatest player ever. So that's ninth
I know nothing. Nineteen ninety for the Oilers. Wow, that
was the messy A one without Gretzky. Gretzky he gone
to l A. If you get the chance to watch
one thing this weekend, there's a lot of stuff. When
we talked about the lacrosse final.

Speaker 3 (01:27:47):
Four, we got Phillies baseball, we got hoops tonight eleven
am tomorrow at NBC Liverpool against Crystal Palace at Anfield
in liver they'll be handing out the hardware to the
Premier League champions and this will be a moment. I
don't know if people, John, I know you're into soccer,

(01:28:09):
you're in international soccer. And there's a lot a lot
of places that I've been to University of Kansas basketball
where they they sing and rock Chunk Jayhawk.

Speaker 2 (01:28:19):
It is pretty awesome. This is the greatest scene in sports.

Speaker 3 (01:28:22):
When the fans in Liverpool starts singing You'll never walk alone. Well,
watch how wild it's going to be tomorrow when they
have out the trophy. It doesn't matter if they win
or lose it. They they clinched it a month ago,
I think, but Liverpool Crystal Palace. Watch the fans in
Liverpool celebrate their superstars winning it again and Mike kurrent

(01:28:45):
Is becoming will be there, don't know? They should have
all living Beatles Ringo and I would think both.

Speaker 2 (01:28:53):
Walking here walke Abbey Road.

Speaker 4 (01:28:55):
Bringing John lennon Son and George Harrison must have somebody
that meant a lot of George that could be there.

Speaker 2 (01:29:03):
That's the question.

Speaker 3 (01:29:03):
What's the from Liverpool Beatles or Liverpool soccer bets.

Speaker 4 (01:29:10):
Well in the in the in terms of where but
the fans over there were probably say the soccer football.

Speaker 2 (01:29:17):
I'm sorry football recency bias though, John, where are you
on the Beatles Liverpool soccer. Jensen just took a trip
to the bathroom here.

Speaker 7 (01:29:27):
But to fill in from I would uh, I would
back you gotta go Beatles from a world wide perspective,
But shoutou rgil Van Dyke over there on Liverpool.

Speaker 3 (01:29:35):
I about my man the captain virgin from the Netherlands,
where the Arnie Slott is from.

Speaker 2 (01:29:41):
Here's the way I look at you never walk alone.

Speaker 4 (01:29:44):
The Beatles are the greatest, and what they did that's
the greatest band. Liverpool is not necessarily the greatest, so
it's got to.

Speaker 2 (01:29:50):
Be the Beatles.

Speaker 3 (01:29:50):
They weren't even the best team in Europe. They got
knocked out by PSG.

Speaker 2 (01:29:54):
Which is but they won the one that counts. Right,
This is the premier less of the NFL.

Speaker 3 (01:29:59):
Right that the Champions League is all the champions.

Speaker 2 (01:30:03):
And they signed Salah and they signed the other guy, right,
but they're both back.

Speaker 4 (01:30:08):
The last time I checked, Man City was bickering about something.
They just lost to somebody, right, man and man you
and the coach was all upset.

Speaker 2 (01:30:15):
They're not They're not even good enough to play in
the Europa League. Next.

Speaker 3 (01:30:20):
Europa League is the nit of soccer, and you're in
the Europa League. You got issues mass.

Speaker 2 (01:30:26):
The Crown. What is Colorado in? Are they? What are
they double A? The Lehigh? Why? Why? If I could
change one thing.

Speaker 3 (01:30:35):
About American sports, it would be the teams to get relegated.

Speaker 2 (01:30:39):
It would just change the whole mindset. It'd be great.

Speaker 3 (01:30:42):
Right, you're in the NBA, you go to the you
go to the G League, Wizards, G League, no more.

Speaker 2 (01:30:49):
Tanking would not be a thing anything. Yeah, I mean really,
what do we do it here?

Speaker 4 (01:30:53):
Yeah, it's it's just it's Cleveland Browns.

Speaker 3 (01:30:56):
Rockets are playing Scranton and Wilkes Back actually and their dogs,
big dogs.

Speaker 2 (01:31:06):
Yeah. Yeah, the run lines three and a half.

Speaker 3 (01:31:10):
So Mike as our as our resident hockey expert, Florida Edmonton,
if they what are we thinking if it gets to that?

Speaker 2 (01:31:18):
Well, Edmonds was the finals last year?

Speaker 4 (01:31:20):
Right, No, it was it was Florida, Yes, and they
got the game seven three. Oh that was Riot and
then they went back to Florida and Mibrowski pitched the
shutouts or flyer. I mean, look, Florida is really good
and they've they've been. I mean, the regular season in
the NHL means nothing because you just and and this
team has looked really good, but you know what, Edmonds

(01:31:42):
looked pretty good too. I mean, I would love to
see that. I'd love and look, I don't even know
who would have the home ice advantage. I'm thinking maybe Florida,
but neither of them won their conference or anything, so uh,
I would be rooting for the Oilers.

Speaker 2 (01:31:57):
The Florida already won one. What do you need another
one for? Canada needs one. Canada needs one.

Speaker 4 (01:32:04):
McDavid needs one because if you're going to be that player,
and I'm telling you dry title is the best player,
the best great player that nobody knows about because of McDavid,
which is fair.

Speaker 2 (01:32:18):
But he's he might win the m v P.

Speaker 4 (01:32:19):
He's won the three finals and McDavid isn't because he
has he's only he's I mean, the two of them together,
it's almost like having I don't know, pick a couple guys.

Speaker 2 (01:32:31):
Well it was the coused by Malcolm, then well then
I guess and assume that's how you get home. Edmond
would be a.

Speaker 4 (01:32:38):
Sligh favorite, I would think, but again, Florida and you
know I think, I mean, I think Florida is getting Florida.

Speaker 3 (01:32:44):
Might sweet you mentioned Carolina fourteen and now the well
and they got to go on the road now and
they're non competitive. I mean the Oilers Lance could go
six or seven. Carolina and Florida should not be able
to play or Tampa or Tampa.

Speaker 2 (01:33:01):
Tampa or Arizona Arizona. No, they're not, They're not there anymore. Right,
But I mean, what why why?

Speaker 6 (01:33:09):
What?

Speaker 2 (01:33:09):
It's honey, I look sport. I'm gonna make you feel bad.
Tampa and Florida together have more Cups than the Flyers.
Think about that Florida Marlins and his many World Series
the phillis Yeah, that's true. That's true. That's that's a
very good point that you that you make.

Speaker 3 (01:33:29):
And the Phillies have been around a little longer than
the Marlins.

Speaker 4 (01:33:34):
Marlins are not people of like Kyle's general, and I
under it's not when the shot back when the Phillies
won in eighty, it was as big or bigger than
the Eagles winning in seventeen. In eighty, they've been around
for one hundred and ten years and been the two
World Series and lost eight to one in the two
World Series.

Speaker 2 (01:33:55):
And they've been to the playoffs three times and gotten me.

Speaker 4 (01:33:58):
And then they won the World Series and we were like,
my god, and all four of our teams made the finals.
That year, four teams were in the finals, three loss,
three losses.

Speaker 2 (01:34:08):
Thrests one's better than none.

Speaker 4 (01:34:12):
Flyers were first, they lost in sixty the Aisles six
Ers lost in six to Lake Lakes.

Speaker 2 (01:34:20):
Magic Phillies won. Phillies won. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:34:23):
Now yeah, that was the forty two Magic Phillies one.
And then the year in January.

Speaker 2 (01:34:28):
Of the next year, they lost four teams.

Speaker 4 (01:34:33):
Can you imagine nowadays, in today's world, if we have
four teams in the.

Speaker 2 (01:34:36):
Finals, we'd have something to talk about? Oh my god,
that's for sure. How about that? But we have the
Super Bowl, so that's right, and you know what, you
might have another one.

Speaker 4 (01:34:47):
I'm telling you what I'm not. Look, it's it's nobody
repeats in the NFL. It's very hard to do unless
you're to Patriots.

Speaker 2 (01:34:52):
I get it. What do you mean nobody repeats Patris just.

Speaker 4 (01:34:55):
Did no, no, no, no, You're right. What I'm saying is,
what about what am I'm on? Because I was thinking
of baseball. Nobody's repeated in base with the Yankees, but
that's been twenty some years ago. It's hard repeat the
basketball NBA champ hasn't even made the third round in
like seven years.

Speaker 2 (01:35:12):
It's not even hockey.

Speaker 4 (01:35:13):
You do get repeats sometimes sometimes about how about this one?
The Capitals in Novekins twenty years have been passed the
second round once and the year they won the Cup?

Speaker 2 (01:35:24):
Is that unbelievable?

Speaker 5 (01:35:26):
See, I think hockey is very typicalt Hockey, to me,
is the hardest one to win. I think because it's
the one sport where every seed has it's almost like
an equal.

Speaker 4 (01:35:35):
If the Eagles are the top seed next year, or
even the second seed le's, they have a pretty good
chance of maybe at least getting to.

Speaker 2 (01:35:41):
The super Bowl. You know, uh, sometimes it doesn't work
out that way. But the fightings, the fightings have a chance.

Speaker 4 (01:35:47):
Fightings have a chance. But baseball fighting become a little
bit of a crap shoot too. You know, we've seen
it in the playoffs enough times. That's why I wouldn't
bet a lot of money on the Dodgers this year.

Speaker 5 (01:35:56):
Yeah, just because, Yeah, the MLB is not as much
as a crap shoot as I think hockey. I think
hockey's the biggest crap shoot where it's it's just call anything.

Speaker 4 (01:36:04):
I mean, you know your your two conference winners are
always out by the second exactly.

Speaker 3 (01:36:08):
We've gone one hundred and ten minutes, but in the
last few I have to bring it up.

Speaker 2 (01:36:13):
No, oh no, you're not going to say what I
think you're gonna say.

Speaker 3 (01:36:17):
Oh no, any further thoughts, Oh, don't do it. I'm
a pick number three for your local basketball team, Sean.
Have you rethought your Ace Balley from last week? Or
you're still that's where you are?

Speaker 7 (01:36:33):
It does feel like there's some momentum pushing the VJ.
Edgecombe category around here, but I still sit on the
Ace Bailey side of things. I guess my bigger like
thought process here is they absolutely have to make a
selection that I don't want to hear the rumors has
been trading this and all that kind of thing. But
I am still locked in and all.

Speaker 2 (01:36:49):
George and number three for Kevin durrect Sean.

Speaker 4 (01:36:51):
If you were going to take not take Bailey and
take there, would you try to trade down a spot
or two to try to pick something.

Speaker 2 (01:36:57):
Up or is that to out there? I do think
like there's some value on that.

Speaker 7 (01:37:01):
The draft kind of starts at three that everyone's talking about,
like Cooper flag pencil and has one.

Speaker 2 (01:37:05):
Dylan Harper has two.

Speaker 7 (01:37:06):
So I don't think there is this like defined gap
between the next few picks. So Darryl Morey is a
wheeler and dealer, and if you can pick up a
couple of picks, I see the I'm okay with doing that.
But I still think Bailey is the guy that I
would take a shot on.

Speaker 2 (01:37:19):
Just take Bailey, like I think. I don't know. I
think it's pretty simple.

Speaker 4 (01:37:23):
I would say this, and this can't happens. Don't do simple.
If I wouldn't do this for Durant, I don't believe.
But if God forbid, the Milwaukees would take the third pick,
the guy you drafted last year from Duke McCain and
Paul George off your hands, and I don't think that
has any chance for happening. But the Kevin Durant thing,

(01:37:44):
I'm not sure I would do that either. Trade and
bed for you, Well, they give the third pick.

Speaker 2 (01:37:49):
At it work for finish It didn't.

Speaker 3 (01:37:51):
But how's it working for the Sixers if the center
is healthy? It's interesting, that's the whole for a couple
of years. But nobody knows the answer to that question.

Speaker 2 (01:37:59):
You know, window is only a couple of years. It's crazy,
it's barely it's barely cracked me.

Speaker 4 (01:38:06):
All if you assume that Paul George last year, he's
going to play better, which I'm not sure, but okay,
if it all comes down the twenty one that's told
it does, what.

Speaker 2 (01:38:17):
Do we hear? And Sean is uh? Is that be
working out? Where are we?

Speaker 7 (01:38:21):
He is officially six weeks post surgery as of yesterday.
I did see a picture of circulating of him on
a basketball court, so he does seem to be turning out.

Speaker 4 (01:38:30):
He's on he's on the same weight loss plan as Alvarado.

Speaker 5 (01:38:33):
Yeah right, And by the way, just to let everybody
know that surgery was successful.

Speaker 4 (01:38:40):
I don't want to see pictures of anybody shooting three
pointers in the summer.

Speaker 2 (01:38:44):
I don't want to see anything. Ben Simmons is on
his revenge, is available a free agent contract.

Speaker 7 (01:38:53):
He will be a free agent, so I have no
clue what his market's going to look like.

Speaker 2 (01:38:56):
He doesn't have one.

Speaker 5 (01:38:58):
And the great thing is, Gee, if Joe in Europe, China,
if Joe.

Speaker 4 (01:39:02):
Comes back at some point, the first word they're going
to mention, which first two words with Joe load management load.
Joe's playing tomorrow night, but he's not going to play
Thursday because you're not.

Speaker 2 (01:39:13):
Going to play. But you expect him in the playoffs though.

Speaker 4 (01:39:17):
If we get to the playoffs, he's going to play
twenty five games.

Speaker 2 (01:39:20):
Back to twenty five minutes a game.

Speaker 3 (01:39:22):
The five people on this show, the two most optimistic
are in the studio, so we'll get them a shot.
Sean and John, you've always kind of thought something could happen.
I don't care who starts tell us why this could
potentially work.

Speaker 2 (01:39:35):
I don't care who starts call up in go first.

Speaker 7 (01:39:38):
So I'll say my pitch for why I'm so like
bullheaded on taking a draft pick is you're still like
building a future that I do think there's something with
Tyrese Maxy, Jared McCain, Ace Bailey, Justin Edwards, Quinton Grimes
with kind of this youth movement that you do have.
But why I'm kind of against this make a trade
whether it is Durant or Giannis. It's still the same
gamble whether or not Jowell and Bead's healthy. So you

(01:39:58):
kind of are already making that best. I don't see
a need to double down or triple down here. The
reality is it's just gonna be a roll of dice
on MBA's health. But I do think that there's more
as far as guys that can get you through the
season than ever for ever before. And I do think
like you can kind of shift the power balance as
this season and as the couple of years progress, where
there is more on Maxi, is more on McCain and

(01:40:18):
kind of this youth movement to where it's not just
all Joel Embiid centric the way it has been the
past decade.

Speaker 6 (01:40:24):
Well, and they are getting they are getting a high
profile prospect here in Ace Bailey. That's the thing too,
is I'm it's exciting because he is young. He's still
what eighteen years old, only a freshman, so there was
room to grow there. So that's I guess that's where
the excitement comes for me, is you are now looking
at Tyres, Maxi, Jere McCain and Ace Bailey, all these

(01:40:46):
young players, and I think that's what you've been just
clamoring for.

Speaker 2 (01:40:49):
Dick Girardi is getting younger. And also they're all jump.

Speaker 6 (01:40:52):
Shooters, like they're really good shooters, So you're getting young
athletic shooters. And now with they Spailey get a little
bit more size that you didn't get with McCain and Maxie.
So I think it is like there is reason to
be optimism for it. Obviously, all the optimism goes away
if the big guy doesn't get healthy. But at least
it is like huge, huge steps in a right direction

(01:41:13):
for me.

Speaker 3 (01:41:13):
So yeah, I think what you both are saying, and
it makes sense to me. Whatever this window is or
isn't at the moment, don't keep trying to keep it
open because it might already be closed and we don't
even know because of MP. So now you got to think,
all right, and this is not typical Darryl Moore. He's
not to think about the future guy. He's more about
all right, let's win yesterday. But you can't do that

(01:41:35):
anymore because you've been trying to do it and it
hasn't worked. You have no idea if it's going to work,
if your center isn't healthy.

Speaker 5 (01:41:40):
It's been a revolving door of pairings for Joelle and
be right.

Speaker 3 (01:41:45):
So look around the league at some of the younger
athletic Houston slash Oklahoma City.

Speaker 2 (01:41:52):
How have they done it?

Speaker 3 (01:41:54):
Obviously they've drafted well they've traded well, they got younger,
they got more athletic, and that's the name of the
game in the league. Yeah, Baley to me is fascinating
because he is such a He's got so much skill
and everybody's gonna pick apart what he didn't do. That's
irrelevant because it's now about how is he going to
be coached, how does he want to be coached, how
much does he want to be great? And that's true

(01:42:16):
of all these draft choices to a point other than Flag,
Flag has obviously got a gigantic motor.

Speaker 2 (01:42:21):
He wants to be great. He can just see it.

Speaker 3 (01:42:24):
I mean, that's why he's a difference maker. He changes
the total dynamic of that.

Speaker 2 (01:42:28):
And he does everything he does, he does everything. He
guards it, he shoots it, the biggest, finishes it.

Speaker 4 (01:42:33):
He just is a is a terrific The biggest problem
the Sixers, Sickers, Sickers, whatever you will call him. They
got three guys, three guys on max contracts, three yep,
and two of them you can't trade because nobody unless
you come up with you can't trust. You can't trust,
you can't trade. That's the problem. And they're going to

(01:42:56):
be strapped because they were even talking about like what
their tax situation, and again you got the the owner
probably cares more about what's going on in Washington as
he should, I guess. But again it's it's just if
twenty one cannot give you, and now they're talking about
optimistically fifty games and then you're asking him to play
twenty some more in the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (01:43:16):
If God forbid, you can get fifty games in a
season and then twenty in n I don't see it, and.

Speaker 4 (01:43:21):
I don't think he's gonna like, I don't he can
Scoo still go on score twenty seven, twenty eight, thirty
what he but that thirty six point guy you saw
a couple of years.

Speaker 2 (01:43:29):
Ago, two years ago. Not according to Darryl Maury, Well
that's great, Yeah, what is what is Darryl saying?

Speaker 4 (01:43:35):
What?

Speaker 2 (01:43:36):
He's very optimist, very optimistic.

Speaker 5 (01:43:37):
A lot of these guys, you really hit their prime
in the in their thirty one thirty two year old rangings,
especially you know after coming back from injuries.

Speaker 2 (01:43:46):
Uh Kawhi Leonard came came to and signing Paul George.

Speaker 4 (01:43:50):
I understand why they did that. Signing Pool George was
a joke. Yeah, extending embiid for three years. That was
the bigger joke. But again, what do what I'm optimistic?
I'm really Paul George lucked into a situation where he
was the only he's not very optimistic le and for
one more year. That's the only reason Paul George came here.
He got one more year from the Sixers.

Speaker 5 (01:44:11):
Yeah, okay, as long as those two guys are leading
this organization, I don't have any optimistmy match.

Speaker 2 (01:44:17):
I apologize for bringing it up.

Speaker 6 (01:44:20):
And maybe maybe, I guess I would be curious, and
maybe there is a question for Sean Bernard, like what
is the potential? Because again I think like the Ace
Bailey thing intrigues me so much because he is so young,
he already has a fundamentally good shot, and like what
there are some things to work on with that, And
I feel like the Sixers already have done that, Like
even with Maxie, he wasn't the best shooter in college,
but they're like, there's a shot to work with there.

(01:44:40):
Jared McCain are like really good. Yeah, and Jared McCain
was a very good shooter. Like there was some Steph
Curry bobs a little bit in terms of how he
shot and like it worked out. So Ace Bailey to
me is like, Okay, he's got the shooting aspect down
and the sixer has been able to work with that
in the past. Now now that it's like, what's the
potential first for him to get better?

Speaker 4 (01:44:57):
And I think the reality is all these guys now
are so young. I mean, for most every guy in
the top five, six, seven, eight, whatever is like eighteen
years old or nineteen. And that's the problem with the draft.
You know, you might get the guy who doesn't get better,
like like yeah, like Markel full That's right, that's the
hard part. Ben Simmons, who after three or four years,

(01:45:19):
I have to take a gamble on what they're gonna
be a funny thing.

Speaker 6 (01:45:23):
With Simmons, and I agree, I think as Bailey is
when you take the gamble on.

Speaker 4 (01:45:26):
I agree with everything Dick said about Rutgers that the
coach just didn't have to play the style. And but again,
Markel Fults played on a crappy college team.

Speaker 2 (01:45:33):
Ben Simmons couldn't get his team to Deanna.

Speaker 4 (01:45:35):
Well, we got him to the n and he didn't
play I guess, but I'm saying, you know, I like
guys not It's not always the case, but just guys
who did something in college to maybe make their teams better.
But again it might have been beyond his control.

Speaker 6 (01:45:48):
Eagles won a superwah, trying to help Rutgers is beyond
anybody's control.

Speaker 2 (01:45:52):
Good luck Greg Sheiana. Well, all right, we gotta get
out of here. Listen, they're no pirates. Sports here, there
