one eight hundred Gambler Dictoriti along with Mike Kern, Kyle Nunnemaker,
Shan Bernard back into studio. I just was reciting before
we went on the odds of the Pacers doing what

(01:02):
they have done again and I have absolutely no idea
how they won the game the other night. Say here
we go, the Pacers have a win in every round
with this probability zero point three percent, two point one percent,
four point one percent, two point six percent the odds
of them winning all four of these games, and obviously
one in each round Bucks Cavaliers Knicks, and then incredibly

(01:24):
the other night games in Oklahoma City one in one
and a half million. Mike, you have been following sports
for your whole life. Is there anything even comparable to
what we are watching with the Indiana Pacers that in
your memory?

Speaker 2 (01:39):
The funny thing is it call on ye dah, now
we got you.

Speaker 4 (01:44):
The The funny thing is the same guy has basically
been responsible for most of it, a guy who could
have been a sixer allegedly reportedly and again I'm not
I'm a big I've been Haliburton guy for a while,
but I understand when when our general manager made that trade.

(02:05):
He wanted hard, he wanted the superstar, and he had
for years in his butt Haliburton. And it's ironic he
was voted the most overrated right about two months ago
or whatever.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
That did not that that didn't age well.

Speaker 4 (02:17):
I'm not going to say he's the best, but his
level of was he at like six shots or something
or they had some number the other night on the
TV right the shots he's hit, Yeah, like the rest
of the.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
World is like four for a million, and he hasn't
missed yet. Yeah, he's like five.

Speaker 4 (02:33):
And I'm watching that game the other night, and I
mean the next game, look, the ball goes fifty feet
in the air, but again went in. I mean, but
to play the other night, and and and Rick Carlisle
was so good through that whole thing. I mean, there's
a reason why he's probably going to go to Hall
of Fame. I guess where they win or not. He's
heading in that direction, yes, But why did they let
Haliburton go right right?

Speaker 2 (02:55):
Well?

Speaker 3 (02:55):
Yeah, I mean you've got to force him left right. Well,
I didn't understand a couple of things that happened in
the game. I don't understand really Wallace why he was
starting and playing all that much, But he was guarding
Halliburn at the end, so I haven't I think that
was the guy who was defending him at the end.
I didn't really understand any of that. But right when
he does jumpers off the bounce, it's like ninety percent

(03:15):
of the time he's gone right, and they always they
let him go right.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
And at that point he shot like what I've about
an eighteen.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
Foot jump shot yep, which is a low percentage shot,
but in that period when you only need two points
to win the game, it's fine.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
It's not a shot you'd want the middle of the game,
but at the end force him.

Speaker 4 (03:30):
To go left and he goes to the basket, which
he probably would have tried.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
I don't know if there was enough time for him
to physically, but.

Speaker 4 (03:36):
Again it's like and then Caruso could have kind of
double teamed him, but he was worried about Siakam was
kind of cutting to the basket.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
Again.

Speaker 4 (03:44):
I don't know if that would have had enough time.
I just don't think. But the mother did a good job. Yeah,
I would. I would concur that.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
The amazing thing is you're watching the game, and you're
watching the first half and they have nineteen turnovers and
you're thinking, well, they got to be down by twenty
five or thirty. But the thunder as great as they
were on defense, and it reminded me of like the
the Pippo and Jordan Bulls and flow them before your time.
But I mean they couldn't they couldn't even have heard
of them though. They couldn't even get run their offense.

(04:11):
I mean they couldn't do.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
Anything and This is like one of the best offenses
in recent NBA history, and yet they only converted those
turnovers into nine points.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
They just couldn't. They were just rushing everything. I thought
they took bad shots. They should Their defense was so good.
The game should have been over at halftime, but it never.

Speaker 4 (04:26):
They still were up fifteen with nineteen with nine, and
then nine was like two and a half.

Speaker 5 (04:32):
Well, outside of SGA, nobody really stepped up to support them.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
Terrible.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
The rest of their squad, especially their two other alleged stars.
Holme Grown was awful. He was He looked petrified when
I'm watching him. He was two for nine and jais.

Speaker 2 (04:47):
Six for six and six or something.

Speaker 3 (04:48):
Yeah, Jael and Williams was six for nineteen. They just
looked like, oh my god, I'm in the finals. And
obviously SGA didn't matter to him that. It was just
crazy if they somehow they won the game.

Speaker 4 (04:59):
A it's the first time that's happened in the finals. Geam,
I believe since ninety seven Game one when Jordan hit
a shot. But that was a tie game. Yeah, this
guy was gonna lose. If you don't hit that shot,
They're going home now.

Speaker 3 (05:12):
The hardest shot in basketball is the down one shot
or down two shot.

Speaker 4 (05:16):
I'm not saying the tie shots easy, like I'm not
taking anything away from Chris Jenkins, but if christ Janians
misses that shot, we're playing. If if the guy for
Duke misses the shot in ninety two, they're they're going home.

Speaker 2 (05:27):
They're out. They're out.

Speaker 3 (05:28):
The Latner shot down a point. So Oklahoma City, it's
tomorrow Nighters. Game two, they're minus eleven at bed Parks.
They're minus five ninety on the minus money line, plus
four twenty for Indiana. Indiana was six to one to
win the whole series. Now they're a little less than
three to one there plus two sixty five. Oklahoma City,
which was minus like a thousand, is now minus three

(05:50):
thirty five. They got up to one thousand, really earth
line hundred one thousand.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
Yeah, it was way up there. I mean it was
way up there.

Speaker 5 (05:57):
Minus nine in Game one, it was do you know
who were on their favor One of these happened in
the last twenty years.

Speaker 4 (06:02):
I think this was the second highest. But one of
the ones where it happened was Detroit in two thousand
and four. They were heavy undergolfs one in five.

Speaker 3 (06:10):
Yeah, no, they crushed all it. They they ran them out.
That was the end of the Shaq Kobe squad.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
You know what.

Speaker 4 (06:15):
The one who taught you probably remember the security, John Cheney,
came up to me before you got it and he said,
Detroit's going to win. And I'm like John, John, it's
Kobe and he loved the way. I guess Larry Brown
was the coach. Well, do you remember the whole story?
So the year before I just looked this up this morning.
I had to refresh my memory. Detroit had knocked the

(06:37):
Sixers out of the Eastern Semis.

Speaker 2 (06:39):
Detroit's coach was the Eastern Semis. Correct.

Speaker 3 (06:42):
Okay, Detroit's coach was Rick Carlisle. The Sixers coach was
Larry Brown. They fired Rick Carlisle after two three. Brown
got the job and Detroit won the championship the next year. Well,
I mean, they made some really good deals during that season,
but that might have been the year they got rashied.

Speaker 2 (06:58):
I'm kind of losing track and that's no, I didn't
gets right.

Speaker 3 (07:01):
But it was just wild that Rick Carlisle was the
coach and then and and if Indiana does win this series,
he will have been the coach of the two of
the biggest upsets in the NBA Finals history, with Dallas
Mavericks beating the Heat and Lebron They were gigantic underdogs.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
I don't know what the number one.

Speaker 4 (07:17):
That Detroit team is one of the few teams that's
won a title without a superstar Rip Hamilton, Chauncey Belt.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
I mean, they were really really good pay.

Speaker 3 (07:26):
But I know they were just a really smart, understanding
play kind of team.

Speaker 4 (07:30):
I thought about the year that the six Ers Joey
Stackhouse and I like that when they took him because
we were like, hey, Allen, and they could have taken
because Rashid went like a pick or two later, and
they turned out to be.

Speaker 2 (07:41):
A better player.

Speaker 3 (07:41):
North Carolina teammates, yes, and couldn't get in the starting lineup.

Speaker 4 (07:45):
That was the team that lost when Temple would have
ended up playing if Temple had not lost, Indiana lost
the Boston College they left the right.

Speaker 3 (07:54):
It's like that just happened. I mean, that was great.
Great that was down in in landover right.

Speaker 4 (08:00):
You were going back and forth from Hempstead with Penn.

Speaker 2 (08:03):
We digressed. That was like thirty plus years ago. How
about that?

Speaker 3 (08:07):
As my memory of it so Oklahoma City minus eleven.
I'm still like, I'm watching the game the whole night,
and I'm going, all right, well.

Speaker 2 (08:16):
This is this is over.

Speaker 3 (08:17):
When they get up by fifteen of the fourth I
said myself, I said, you know what, I should.

Speaker 2 (08:22):
Get on here and bet because they're going to win
by twenty five. And how wrong can you be? Not
only did they not win by twenty five, they don't
even wine. And I've watched enough games where I have
a sense of what's about that happened. I had no
clue that that was here's my allactly amazing are the
Pacers the two thousand and one sixers who won game

(08:43):
won in LA when they were.

Speaker 4 (08:44):
Like whatever and then they were hurt. I mean it
was a different Yea, they were banged up, correct, I see.
I think those cases really good. But I think people
are not giving Indiana they made enough credit.

Speaker 2 (08:56):
Look now, I'm not saying you can win this series.

Speaker 5 (08:58):
People look at the eye basically not you know, giving
them no shot to start the series.

Speaker 2 (09:04):
It was interesting most of the bets were on Indiana. Yeah,
like eighty five percent of all the bets, but they
were small bets. Yeah, all the big money was on
the other That's.

Speaker 4 (09:14):
Why the line was yeah, right, right, but like Dixon saying,
oh yeah, this team is set records right for like
margins of victory and this and that and the other.

Speaker 3 (09:22):
End, you know, and their defense again in the first half,
Indiana looked like they had never played basketball before. They
couldn't do anything but just happy to be here. So
I wrote down the numbers. They had twenty points in
the first quarter Indiana, twenty five of the second, thirty
one in the third, and thirty five in the fourth.
That's a coaching right, I mean, as part of it

(09:45):
is right at the half, they stopped the turnovers, they
got better shots, and then I will say this, they
made about four or five shots in the fourth quarter,
a couple of shot clock deals, air balls, shot clocks
that they end up getting layups on with it. We're fortunate,
but that does happen and probably never again. Is Obi
top and gonna shoot five for eighteen, obie? But you

(10:06):
know what, we said the same thing about that guy
in the first game. In the next game when he
hit like the six threes, well he's made I get toppins.

Speaker 4 (10:13):
With this team. This team has been doing this now
for like a month longer. We keep sitting there. Look,
halber Haliburton will have bad games. Well, Halberner, I mean
he wasn't even he had fourteen points. Yeah, he wasn't
the go to guy for most of the game.

Speaker 2 (10:27):
He was all he was. He was basically getting criticized
by Richard Jefferson for disappearing. Yeah, and he wasn't wrong,
yeah yeah.

Speaker 4 (10:34):
And then but Haliburton, you do that, he'll have games
where like SCA doesn't have games like that now usually.
But like you guys said, I mean SGA has thirty
eight and you lose because Holmgren has six and the
other guy.

Speaker 2 (10:48):
Williams was you know, he was bad. So the shooting.

Speaker 3 (10:52):
Thirty nine for eighty two for Indiana, eighteen of thirty
nine on the threes.

Speaker 4 (10:59):
Eighteen of and you went by and you went by
one correct and you take your only lead with three
tens and.

Speaker 3 (11:04):
The other team was plus sixteen shot attempts because of
all the turnovers. Thirty nine for ninety eight then eleven
of thirty on threes, and everybody talked about the rebound differential.
This is what this is what people just don't understand
the sport. You have a rebound differential like that because
the other team missed so many shots.

Speaker 2 (11:21):
That's why there's the recount differential. It's not because would.

Speaker 4 (11:24):
You many coaches would have called time out? No, they
call and then the way they had already discussed it
right at the previous that's good, but of course, yeah,
you don't want them to set their do how many
coaches because actually, guarantee you Caruso would have been on.

Speaker 3 (11:38):
Halibert on the last play they had a chance to
call time out. They weren't gonna let that.

Speaker 5 (11:43):
Well, and I know Indiana figured things out in the
second half, but still the turnovers twenty four to six,
and you still.

Speaker 2 (11:51):
You can't win. You can't win.

Speaker 4 (11:53):
I mean, o case, you only had four six turnover
that's why the shot differential was so good. Oh my god,
I mean I didn't realize that. I mean there was
a sixteen shot difference and an eighteen difference.

Speaker 2 (12:03):
I thought when Sga put that last shot up, I
thought it was going in. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (12:06):
Look, I just figured, okay, he's gonna make that and
you'll find they'll find a way to score. So okay, see,
as I said, they're still a favorite. Indiana's a little
closer plus two sixty five.

Speaker 3 (12:18):
SGA's minus three to zero five for the Finals MVP
Halliburton plus three fifty and Siakam, who was the Eastern
Finals MVP is plus one thousand, ten to one on Siaka.

Speaker 4 (12:29):
Because you got to believe that Indiana is going to win.
If you're gonna if you're gonna make that bad right, well,
that's a hard I would say this.

Speaker 3 (12:36):
If you thought Indiana was gonna win, I'd play Halliburton
Siakam both. You're getting a better price, yeah, and then
you're getting on Indiana to win this series.

Speaker 4 (12:44):
I think I would just go Haliburton. I noticed a
lot better odds when I would if Indiana wins.

Speaker 2 (12:51):
If you don't know, Siaka might go for thirty times,
I mean he was the leading scorer the other night. Yeah,
double double. Interesting. So this is just while so I
don't know who stayed up from.

Speaker 4 (13:02):
You said it's minus five sixty minus tomorrow night minus
five ninety.

Speaker 2 (13:08):
I know, right up.

Speaker 4 (13:09):
I don't think Okaysey's going to lose the money, but
I can't lay six to one, that's sir. But if
Oka s did in Indiana beat they beat New York twice, right,
when in the NET series start in New York, they
started to up.

Speaker 2 (13:21):
That's right. Yeah, So at this point I don't want
to Cleveland. I started to out. I don't want to
put anything past them. How can you?

Speaker 4 (13:28):
But if I mean, okay, see and look, if Okasey loses,
they could still win the series.

Speaker 2 (13:32):
There.

Speaker 4 (13:32):
I think they're that good. But man, if you're okay,
see you you pretty much want to win tomorrow. I
would think that'd be a good idea. You probably don't.
You probably don't want to get out.

Speaker 2 (13:41):
I don't think they want to lose. I'll tell you that. Yeah,
I would say that's not a good idea. But that was.

Speaker 3 (13:45):
It was just amazing that it happened for a fourth
time against.

Speaker 2 (13:51):
A little bit and three and three of these were
on the road. I don't remember the Milwaukee comeback, whether
that was on the road or how. And you know what,
the amazing thing other think it was on.

Speaker 3 (14:00):
The road Milwaukee at game five when they not well
that was Game five would have been a good home.

Speaker 2 (14:07):
You know.

Speaker 4 (14:08):
The amazing thing is Doc Rivers wasn't coaching in any
of those games.

Speaker 2 (14:11):
When they came back.

Speaker 4 (14:12):
He was coaching, And you're right, sorry, I know that.

Speaker 2 (14:18):
I know you really love Doc Rivers. Was not in
the the equation here. He's always for these jokes. Yeah,
somehow somewhat Doc Rivers, the Doc man.

Speaker 4 (14:30):
Uh. I still think it out Atlanta series and and
I'm not sorry they were, but it bothers me that
they couldn't beat the freaking Hawks and the Hawks haven't
won anything ever.

Speaker 2 (14:46):
Heard a couple other pieces of news.

Speaker 3 (14:49):
Uh, Earlier in the week, Tom Thibodeau gets the Knicks
further they've been in a quarter century gone. Aaron Rodgers, Mike,
we have a rant on Aaron Rodgers many chest today.

Speaker 4 (15:02):
Well, I know this was going to happen for three months.
I know he is going across the state. I know
everybody's excited by the way. I know hockey is not no, no,
I'm gooding to that.

Speaker 2 (15:11):
Oh you got that. Okay, I'm the host here, I
got this covered. Chill, chill out, I'm good here. Hockey
last night for those of us who stayed up, which
would not include me, number either two overtimes, and this
time Florida won five four with an overtime goal in
the second o t We are now one one and
we will go back greatest picked up Florida.

Speaker 4 (15:33):
The guy they picked up from Marshton Marshawn who had
two goals last night, including the game winner.

Speaker 2 (15:38):
They got him.

Speaker 4 (15:39):
In a shorthanded goal shord Dean counterfeit the s I
d villing over one really really really.

Speaker 2 (15:45):
Dream that's right football.

Speaker 4 (15:48):
And when they picked him up because Boston didn't want
to pay him, I guess he was going to come
up for And I said to Dean, Dean, Dean knows
his hockey. He goes, he he goes, man, he goes.
That's going to because Florida was already good. No, but
I was, I was gonna refer to what hockey was
you were talking about?

Speaker 2 (16:02):
Tibbs. Yeah, the guy from Dallas just got fired. Yeah,
he got fired.

Speaker 4 (16:05):
Three straight Western Conference finals. Well, okay, fine, gone, But
this guy's record, I think he's won.

Speaker 2 (16:14):
He's six to zero in game sevens didn't get to
the game seven, patience zero. Look, in today's hockey is
the worst?

Speaker 3 (16:22):
Yeah, yeah, there's the worst in today's world.

Speaker 4 (16:25):
Mike Krzyzewsky Gone, dude, Oh, he doesn't even get to
the to the year. Why where he recruits the guy?

Speaker 2 (16:32):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (16:32):
Absolutely, they wanted him fire. Yes, they did they wanted
Dean Smith fire.

Speaker 3 (16:37):
It's a famous They lost the I think must have
Georgia Tecon the ACCU tournament by like fifty.

Speaker 2 (16:43):
And that was it. They'd had enough. And then from
when we know the rest of them.

Speaker 4 (16:47):
Wasn't that the one where they said to him something
like forget if Feinstein used to tell the story forget
about and he goes, yeah, we're no, we ain't gonna forget.

Speaker 2 (16:56):
He posted the score on the scoreboards all next year.

Speaker 3 (16:58):
Yeah, but yeah, I mean John Wooden gone, took him
fifteen years to win the title.

Speaker 2 (17:04):
UC. What's it? You made the final four? Why? What
do you think?

Speaker 3 (17:09):
Here's what I think. It was a game, an extension
they did right this year. Here's what I think of it.
Tibodeau and I have no zero inside information. I don't
know anybody. I'm actually surprised they haven't already hired a
coach because I assumed if they did this, they had
somebody in mind, but apparently not, or they haven't been
able to come to Terrence or whoever.

Speaker 2 (17:28):
That is just if you watched.

Speaker 3 (17:30):
Closely, if you're into x's and o's in the Indiana series,
it was an ex and O mismatch, like just some
of the fundamental stuff like baseline out of bounds plays,
like side sideline out of bounds plays. Indiana ran one
great set after another that Nick's never knew how to
defend it. They didn't know their offense. The knickt offense

(17:52):
is like from the nineties, and it's the talent. The
skill level they have is amazing. But if you actually
had stuff and they actually did good stuff on atos
after timeouts, the Knicks did, but that was it. It's like,
I don't know what they were even trying to run.
It was like, all right, Jael and go go to sebasket.
Well that's fine, but except the problem was he has
to expend so much energy on offense. He's not a

(18:14):
good defensive player to start with, and he was totally exposed.
And my man Towns, I mean, he wasn't even tried
on defense. I remember him in Kentucky. He actually could
play defense. I don't know what happened to him.

Speaker 5 (18:27):
Yeah, it didn't come out afterwards that the team was
upset about his the way he went about the not
a defense Like he just wasn't that I don't know,
doing what they told him.

Speaker 3 (18:37):
Right, But my guess is there are some basketball people
in the organization that just said watching.

Speaker 2 (18:44):
It and maybe you think it's the owner.

Speaker 3 (18:47):
I can't imagine Doland knows anything about basket well, that's
what I mean. Yeah, I don't think it came fired.
Like nine coaches in twenty years he has. Look, Leon
Rose is surrounded by some pretty smart people. My guess
is they have X and O people wandering about, some
video people, and they just said, look, he's from another era.
He's never going to get all the way to the finish.

Speaker 2 (19:09):
Line, and so he's got to know who he is
Doc Rivers, only Doc's got a title. Yeah, and she's
the same.

Speaker 4 (19:16):
I mean, he's won a lot of He's the most
wins without winning a title.

Speaker 2 (19:19):
He was an assistant.

Speaker 4 (19:22):
Well you know the name that came up that I
thought was interesting and it was funny, Kendrick Perkins yard
Day bought it in the first time I've heard somebody
bring this up. It might not mean anything, but he
did mention the fact that Ricky Brunson is like on
the next bench, which and I'm not saying that has
anything to do with anything, because I can't believe that
Tibbs is like making and Jalen's the best player on it.

Speaker 2 (19:42):
Whatever. They brought up Van Gundy's name, the one that
coached there.

Speaker 4 (19:48):
You know, Jeff Bangos, and he's real tight with Tibbs apparently,
so people didn't now Jason Kidd's name has come up,
but they'd have to.

Speaker 2 (19:54):
Talk to Dallas about that.

Speaker 3 (19:56):
Yeah, I don't. Again, I was. I'm a little surprised
they didn't have some body of mine and haven't already
hired him unless unless he's a head.

Speaker 2 (20:03):
Coach, I won't.

Speaker 4 (20:04):
Mike Malone's name came Mike Malone's tips, but he's got
a ring.

Speaker 2 (20:08):
I mean, I'm not a fan. Well he's going to
scream and holler, you know. I just don't think that
works anymore. I not at that level.

Speaker 3 (20:15):
Maybe Nick Nurse is available, He's definitely, he's definitely available.

Speaker 2 (20:19):
He's all lockdown. He's all lockdown. Yeah, But I just
I found that. I found it interesting.

Speaker 3 (20:26):
I just think they thought that they just didn't maximize
what they had, and I would agree with that. Although
having watched that whole series, the Pacers have a better
overall team. Yeah, I don't have the better team won
this series. Not buy a lot, but I don't have
a problem saying that. But here's here's probably. But I
just didn't like how the Knicks certainly I didn't like

(20:48):
how they defend it, and I hate their offense.

Speaker 2 (20:50):
I just hate it. Nicks higher, whoever, the Knicks high?
What do you have to do?

Speaker 4 (20:58):
You just you gotta win a total right, So saying
you go to New York and all of a sudden,
maybe you're thirty and twenty five next year, Like that's
why when people bought.

Speaker 2 (21:07):
Jay's name up.

Speaker 4 (21:08):
But I'm like I said, people, they're always his name.
This is the last one though, Yeah, because of all
the villain If he doesn't take this, and I don't
even know if he's interested or they've offered it to him,
then he's not coming back.

Speaker 2 (21:22):
I mean, I don't think he's coming.

Speaker 4 (21:23):
Daniel Hurlway's name might come up, sure, you know he
only he's about an hour and a half from there.
I mean whatever, I don't know what the Knicks want
to do, But I'm just saying, can you imagine the
pressure going to New York and if you make the
Eastern Conference finals next year and lose, people ain't going
to care. That's that's a lot of and I don't
think the Knicks are that good where you can win

(21:44):
to a season thinking championship.

Speaker 3 (21:46):
And they they really didn't like losing to Indiana.

Speaker 2 (21:49):
They probably couldn't.

Speaker 3 (21:50):
They'd have lost to Boston, say in the Eastern Finals.
They are I don't think he gets fired.

Speaker 4 (21:54):
And let's face it, they were the favorites next year
Game one.

Speaker 2 (21:58):
I don't know what Cleveland's going to be.

Speaker 4 (22:00):
You know, Cleveland might go out and get Who knows,
Boston's not winning the title next year?

Speaker 2 (22:04):
You wouldn't be if Tatum is not playing. I mean,
they could be good.

Speaker 4 (22:09):
I'm not saying they're gonna stink, but again with that
Jason Tatum, they probably ain't. So you know, I mean
the Knicks, you have, the Pacers probably coming back.

Speaker 2 (22:17):
The Sixers are going to be one hundred percent healthy.
Don't forget the six Oh god.

Speaker 5 (22:21):
But yeah, I mean, I know a lot of people
don't didn't like TIBs the way he coaches, just too
old school. But I mean going into that series, I
mean we were talking on the panel here about the
Knicks just didn't have enough coming off the bench, and
there was that's a big mismatch going into that series.
And that was ultimately outside of all the x's and.

Speaker 4 (22:40):
O's, and then he tried to change in the series.
Yeah he actually, but here's the thing. Think about this.
If that's shot by hal Burton doesn't go in, yeah,
we're in game seven in all in all likelihood in
New York, of course, and the Knicks would have been
a favorite.

Speaker 2 (22:54):
That doesn't mean they would have won, but and now
they weren't. They weren't that far.

Speaker 3 (22:59):
But the problem was the that game one and then
the last game where they just they'd let go of
the room.

Speaker 2 (23:04):
And then you said that, yeah, that that was not
a good way to end.

Speaker 4 (23:07):
But let me so, if they had made the finals,
Tims is the coach, I would think you probably surprised.

Speaker 2 (23:13):
Uh yeah I would. I would think so. But I
just if that's really again, I don't know.

Speaker 3 (23:19):
I don't know who they're I don't know who their
guys are. I don't know in the organization that are
analyzing all the different stuff that goes into winning and losing.
But somebody sat down with some numbers and just said
this the way we are playing is not going to work.
And you got through the Celtics, which was kind of amazing,

(23:42):
but they did steal a couple of games in Boston.

Speaker 4 (23:44):
You're kind of a miracle. Well that's what Indiana did
the precisely. So it's uh, here's the thing.

Speaker 3 (23:51):
There is no patience to Mike's points is nobody's got patients.

Speaker 2 (23:54):
What I thought anything.

Speaker 4 (23:55):
I find interesting about sports. So they gave Tibbs, I
don't know the thirty million, whatever it was.

Speaker 2 (24:01):
They don't care. But he can. But they'll talk about
a player like you say, oh man, we got to
give him three million. You just gave a coach thirty
and you can you kicked him at the door.

Speaker 3 (24:09):
And nobody caress gone, yeah, the only thing better is
college football.

Speaker 2 (24:14):
It was the guy in Texas saying, Jimbo Fisher.

Speaker 4 (24:17):
Jimbo million and he and he's complaining, dude, you know what.
The daily usually come up to me and sometimes so
you know what, Mike, we don't we don't think so,
but here's like three million. But we don't really want
you around anymore because whatever gone, I would have laughed
out the door. I would have been it didn't make

(24:39):
that offer. Oh jimbofish the loud, But how can schools
do this? You're Texas A and m I got you
got Billy Bob whatever giving you all this money.

Speaker 2 (24:51):
But my god, we're talking.

Speaker 4 (24:52):
To Billy Bob Thornton even million dollars. And if these people,
what is this thing that just got pasted it owing
to meme for Because I don't I'm trying to understand
all this.

Speaker 2 (25:02):
There's still going to be an il right on top
of this. The less I know about it the best. Okay,
I'm just stay.

Speaker 4 (25:09):
At the softball pitcher at Texas at Texas Tech, who.

Speaker 2 (25:12):
By the way, didn't know how to intentionally walk somebody?
Did you guys see this?

Speaker 4 (25:16):
No? No, I mean they wanted to intentionally walk the
girl from Texas Well, she's throwing pictures down the middle
and the ium's calling them balls for whatever reason, I
don't know, and because I thought I looked it up, you.

Speaker 2 (25:29):
Know, by the way, totally off the rim ahead. No,
I want to know, and I looked it up.

Speaker 4 (25:35):
Apparently you can tell them like in Major League Baseball,
we just want to walk this.

Speaker 2 (25:39):
But anyway, she's throwing, she's really good.

Speaker 4 (25:41):
She she drew every innion of every game just about
for Texas Tech.

Speaker 2 (25:45):
She throws one down the middle and the Texas girl goes,
I'm gonna swing at it, and she had to win
game winning two run single in the last inning.

Speaker 4 (25:53):
Well, they asked the girl after and she goes, well,
I never intentionally walked anybody.

Speaker 2 (25:56):
I didn't really know what to do. And I'm like, wow,
put again, throw it over the yump's head.

Speaker 4 (26:03):
You if you watch sports enough, Kyle, I swear to God,
you will see something. Richie Ashbourne, you said all the
time on Phillies.

Speaker 2 (26:10):
Games, you will. It's amazing. You'll something will happen.

Speaker 4 (26:13):
You'll go I've been watching sports fifty years and I've
never seen that.

Speaker 2 (26:16):
Yeah, like the Indiana pastures.

Speaker 5 (26:18):
So you want to no, exactly, so you wanted to walk?
Somebody say, you throw meatballs down the middle of the place.

Speaker 2 (26:25):
Meatballs. No, she was throwing the ball hard, but she.

Speaker 4 (26:29):
Wasn't throwing them like outside the plate or like just
lobbing them outside the plate like you know you used
to do a Major League baseball You just throw like
these four ding dong pitches. Yeah, and now in baseball
you just say, hey, we want to walk them. Yeah,
they just got And so I looked it up and
it said that you can do that again.

Speaker 2 (26:46):
I'm sorry to digress. Yeah, it's just a thirty minute digression.

Speaker 5 (26:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (26:50):
Start. So let's go down the college softball slate for today. Yeah,
let's not it's over. It's over. Texas want it? Yeah
for next year? Yeah, look at for you. Oklahoma did
win for the first time in league five years.

Speaker 3 (27:02):
So yeah, basically, Mike, what happened last night for the
people don't know, there was this settlement finally was approved
by the judge where schools get pay out like twenty
million a year. No, obviously, there's only certain schools that
have the money to do that for their athletes. And
almost all this money is going to Division one football players.

Speaker 2 (27:20):
I can just tell you.

Speaker 3 (27:21):
At a place like Penn State, I believe it's eighty
five percent is going to the football players. The other
fifteen is divided among the other sports. Some places are
giving men's basketball more than others because that's the only
other revenue producing sport in college athletics. But Penn State,
for instance, has like thirty one sports. Alabama has half

(27:44):
of that, so they know Alabamaly has. Yeah, they just
they don't want to be bothered with all that stuff
that you have. The fund they want they want to
throw all their money in football, and Penn State wants
to have women's hot But.

Speaker 2 (27:58):
I guess what I'm as.

Speaker 4 (27:59):
So let's say Penn State can give twenty million, but
then can they the nil is on top of that,
like they can give another thirty million if the Brewsters
want to give you.

Speaker 2 (28:07):
Yeah, supposedly it's going to be regulated in some way,
but it's not going to be regulated. They say it's
going to be regulated.

Speaker 3 (28:14):
It's it has chaos written all over it, but which
is already where we are.

Speaker 2 (28:18):
But yeah, other word, do you see what Ryan Day
did this week?

Speaker 4 (28:21):
I did not, which makes it We came out because
they're trying to decide how to expand this football thing,
which eventually is going to.

Speaker 2 (28:26):
Get the sixteen teams, because that's just what's going to happen.
It's going to be March madness.

Speaker 4 (28:30):
He said the Big ten should have four automatic bits,
and I'm not saying he's wrong. They've won the last
two national titles, okay, but he can't how long before
the SEC in the Big ten just say you know
what and you other guys just well go do your thing.

Speaker 2 (28:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (28:47):
The Commissioner of the SEC said a week or so
ago that his members are asking him continually, why are
we in the NCAA.

Speaker 4 (28:54):
Oh, I didn't see that, geez, But what would they
do if they if they left the NCB.

Speaker 2 (29:00):
They're running it already, right, but football, but you want
to win national titles, don't you know?

Speaker 1 (29:04):
You know?

Speaker 2 (29:05):
Well, that was his point.

Speaker 3 (29:06):
He says, nobody's turning down a bid to any of
these national championships in our league.

Speaker 2 (29:10):
So but they won't.

Speaker 3 (29:12):
Basically they want all the money for themselves, surely do
especially in the big Look, there's two big money makers
right college football where the schools and the conference has
held all the money in the basketball tournament, the men's
basketball tournament where ninety percent of the money funds, or
the NCAA gets ninety percent of their funding from the
television contract. And these teams are and these big leagues

(29:35):
are saying, why why are we funding these people? With
this big building in Indianapolis?

Speaker 2 (29:39):
Right?

Speaker 4 (29:40):
Why do we need these? And the football playoffs are
not run by the nc DOUBLE. That's a separate rat
as correct. I mean, if I I'll tell you right now,
if I was the Big twelve or the ACC, I'd
be worried because they are not players in all this.

Speaker 2 (29:54):
They just aren't all run back.

Speaker 4 (29:56):
And again, they're gonna have teams that, you know, Arizona
State almost want I mean, you know, they're going to
have teams that will almost win games or maybe win
a couple.

Speaker 2 (30:04):
They aren't players.

Speaker 4 (30:05):
Every national champ for the next so I'm not here
anymore is going to be from the Big ten or
the SEC.

Speaker 2 (30:12):
That's just the way. And it's fun.

Speaker 4 (30:13):
You can have Boise State can get into the playoffs.
That's great, we love that stuff. But it's going to
be Penn State, Michigan, Ohio State maybe no, No, I
guess not there names in Oregon.

Speaker 2 (30:24):
And then you go Alabama, Georgia, Texas.

Speaker 4 (30:27):
Exactly, and that's what's going And again that's I guess
that's what people want to see. You know, I kind
of like the underdog stuff, but there's no underdogs Pacers.

Speaker 2 (30:37):
Root for the Pacers.

Speaker 4 (30:39):
But you know, the funny thing is, I don't hate
like I like OKAC, So it's I don't really I
like both teams.

Speaker 2 (30:45):
I'm just looking for goods. It was goods. Did you
see what the ratings were? Nobody watched. Nobody watched. Really,
that's a shame.

Speaker 3 (30:52):
I mean, if you like good ball, like we do
you watch, but yeah, it's it's the small markets and
there's no even though SGA was the MPY, he's not Lebron.

Speaker 2 (31:01):
James, he's not Kobe Bryant, he's not Michael Jordan.

Speaker 3 (31:03):
He's not one of those names yet in sports, and
certainly Indiana doesn't have that point.

Speaker 2 (31:08):
It's funny they were talking about you take Aunt.

Speaker 3 (31:11):
Clark would be getting better, oh god, better numbers than
you take Ant and you take she did get better numbers.

Speaker 2 (31:18):
Yes, s g A and Aunt, and you can debate
who's the face.

Speaker 4 (31:22):
And somebody made a good point the other day they said,
the face of the league is Lebron and Steph's still
until they retire. But these guys they play in Minnesota,
they playing okay, c And the problem, it is a problem.
You need those guys in New York, Boston. Well you
got Luca in l A.

Speaker 2 (31:40):
Now there you go.

Speaker 4 (31:41):
I mean, the greatest thing was when Larry Bird and
Magic came out. Who had the first two picks, the
Lakers and the Celtics. Well, no, the Celtics is actually
taking Lowry with it. So one ends up in Boston,
one ends up in l A.

Speaker 2 (31:56):
And for a.

Speaker 4 (31:56):
Decade, a decade you had these two guys playing almost
every year on that the only pl but they were
just they were the two guys.

Speaker 2 (32:04):
Su Yeah, now it's a little more. Look, the NBA
has basically legislated this and they got what they got
what they like Jannis and Milwaukee. Yeah, they let this
is what they wanted. I'm not sure this.

Speaker 3 (32:14):
Is exactly, but you know what, the TV partners they
can't spend enough money. I mean, Amazon's in nbcas contract
the NBA got is is insane.

Speaker 4 (32:25):
But didn't t n T just pull out of it
or they pulled tn T out of it? They pulled Okay,
DNT wanted to stay. Okay, I didn't realize.

Speaker 2 (32:33):
Yeah, they just they didn't bid it enough.

Speaker 4 (32:35):
It. I mean, I've got two predictions something whole. I
don't know anything about Giannis, yes and Durant. Yes, we'll
be on different teams next year. Now where they go.

Speaker 2 (32:44):
Well Durant for sure, Yeah, Durant for sure.

Speaker 4 (32:46):
Now where he ends up, I don't know, but is
not playing walk One warning about Durant.

Speaker 3 (32:54):
He went to New Jerky, two other nets no good
went to the Sun and not that he's not any
good because he is, but it just hasn't Well do.

Speaker 2 (33:02):
You hear the one? I think both are coming here.

Speaker 4 (33:05):
Well, Cleveland was a room that makes sense, and I
don't know what Cleveland would be.

Speaker 2 (33:10):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (33:11):
But Bradley Beal will still be in Phoenix, so it'll
be pretty good.

Speaker 2 (33:14):
Yeah, yes they will. Here's the good news.

Speaker 3 (33:17):
We have set and unofficial actually an official sports chair
there and everywhere. We're record for most topics discussed.

Speaker 2 (33:27):
In the first thirty minutes of the show. I didn't
even mention Nascar, not yet. Yeah. How many sports do
we cover? All of them? All? I think we did.

Speaker 4 (33:35):
We work and you know what sock we Yeah we
missed water baseball. I was gonna say he didn't mention
the Sickers, but I did. Yeah, so in the past,
in the past, tense.

Speaker 3 (33:45):
The last fifteen minutes, that's their time, and we're just
we're ready to it's still too much time.

Speaker 2 (33:49):
It's too much time. We'll let Charburnard jump in too
many eleven fifteen, We'll do the sickers. Yeah, stick around
for eleven to fifteen. Welcome. You're listening to sports here,

Speaker 2 (35:39):
They're irritating me. But I've been irritated all year long.

Speaker 3 (35:42):
And I would say one thing to the jockey of journalism,
my man umberto riskfully, stay outside, don't get involved.

Speaker 2 (35:52):
That's your guy right there, that's my guy.

Speaker 3 (35:54):
What a dope. Just steer the horse correctly. Please, let's
not mess up again. And I will be reading for
journalism because I like the fact that he actually ran
in all three races, and these other bums waited for
today and just passed all the breakness and stayed out
of my hometown.

Speaker 2 (36:08):
It's just wrong.

Speaker 3 (36:10):
Is anyone concerned about the Phillies two weeks ago, at
this time, they had the best record in baseball At
the moment, they keep blowing leaves.

Speaker 2 (36:18):
They keep losing at the end. Mike, your level of
concern is I find it hilarious.

Speaker 4 (36:24):
Did two weeks ago I was getting chastised or people
that said that they're being bad teams?

Speaker 2 (36:31):
Well they were.

Speaker 4 (36:32):
They went on a road trip and I said, they're
playing the Athletics that I think it was the Pirates
the Athletics in the Rocky nine one.

Speaker 2 (36:39):
Two things can be true.

Speaker 4 (36:41):
You can be one of the best teams and you
can be beating bad teams. You realize that the Phillies
record is against plus five hundred times sixteen and eighteen. Yeah,
now that doesn't mean that they can't beat those teams.
If they haven't, it just means that they're and I've
come Yeah, they got bullpen issues and the general manager
is not done a good job. They're still throwing the
same left field or Kepler please please, please.

Speaker 2 (37:04):
Please have a center field that's pretty good too. They're both.

Speaker 4 (37:06):
And if you and here's the thing, if you throw Castlana. Look,
I'm not an I'm not knocking, but if you if
their outfield for a team that's supposed to be contending
for a World Series, it's bad.

Speaker 2 (37:19):
So now you look at the ball.

Speaker 4 (37:20):
So the Phillies have this great starting pitcher, which, by
the way, Lozardo now is going to hit a wall
because he's thrown as many Indians as he threw all
last year. But that's am whatever. Twenty runs the Phillies.
The Phillies record, apparently, when they don't score three runs
is not real good. But here's the problem. Look at
their lineup. Harper's not having a great year at all.

(37:41):
Stott now is hit like a wall, Boom is not
doing much. The catcher doesn't hit who on their team
because they say, I mean, Schwarber's having a great year.
But I'm just saying this is supposed to be. And
all you ever hear to Phillies say, well, you know
when they all started. And I've seen it in twenty two.
I saw against the Astros, in twenty three, I saw

(38:02):
against the d Backs. Last year, I saw it the
whole series against the Mets. So until they do it,
do I think they're gonna be in the playoffs?

Speaker 5 (38:10):
Yeah, but this is the same conversation to your point, Mike,
two weeks ago, they were the best. They they had
the best record in baseball chance and let me know
that as I was saying, I'm not getting too high.
I'm not getting too low until they prove it in
September and October. I can't sit there and say, oh
my god, this team's looks. There's something different about this

(38:33):
couple years there is. Are they playing the Rockies in October?

Speaker 2 (38:37):
No? Probably not after Rookies?

Speaker 4 (38:40):
Yeah they are, Come on, man, they won a series
against Miami sweep. By the way, another pitcher went down
with Tommy John again. I mean, this is like every
other week. I mean, so he's gonna be out next
year too, yeah.

Speaker 5 (38:52):
But but but yeah, Just to finish my point, I mean,
you look at what happened the last three years until
I see something that is different that separates this team
from those three you know, those three years, and they
might not buying in until they prove me.

Speaker 4 (39:07):
Other andy, and they might they might get to October
and then finally get it done.

Speaker 2 (39:11):
Finally get it done.

Speaker 4 (39:12):
I mean, you know, twenty two they stunk basically Milwaukee
kind of let him in the playoffs, and then they
got hot. They got hot and it was great. And
then two years ago they were good. I mean until
those last two games against the Diamondbacks.

Speaker 2 (39:26):
And by the way.

Speaker 5 (39:27):
They've had bullpen problems, you know those last three years
in the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (39:32):
This might be the worst of it. It's not good.

Speaker 4 (39:33):
Well, they're good the general manager. Everybody talks about the
manager being on some kind of watch. No, the general
manager had better go out at the trade deadline and
do something. You know, they didn't do anything in the offseason.
Let's just say for the sake of argument that no,
one's not going to be right. And I don't know
if he is or not. It's let's say Luzarno is
not gonna be right. Right, Well, all of a sudden

(39:55):
that five million or six now you pain or maybe
comes up, or Abel comes up.

Speaker 2 (39:58):
But you might have to trade.

Speaker 4 (40:00):
One of those guys to get and they never bring
the don't They have two guys in the minor leagues
that are Hiti and the other guy who are like
Crawlford crawl for shorts.

Speaker 2 (40:08):
They're not Why would you bring him up and give
him a shot? What is this guy? What allegiance do
you have to the center fielder. I don't get it.

Speaker 4 (40:17):
Here's the thought that will never happen. Won't happen? And
I understand why I can't They need a closer right there?
Could you imagine and they, of course I understand why
if you took Wheeler and made him a closer like
they like the Braves did years ago when Johnson with Johnson,
he would be I think, now you can't take one

(40:38):
of the best pitchers in baseball, and I get on that.
Could you imagine bringing Wheeler into the ninth Indian of
the game.

Speaker 2 (40:43):
Who's hitting him?

Speaker 3 (40:45):
Dennis was the starter for years. There came legendary closer
for the.

Speaker 4 (40:50):
Story, but those both were because of injuries, right, I don't, Yeah,
I think, I think, like kind of hurt his arm.

Speaker 3 (40:55):
And so here are the numbers Trey Turners three or six,
and it's one of them shortstops.

Speaker 2 (41:00):
Yeah, that's true. Castellanos to eighty five.

Speaker 3 (41:03):
He's doing all the solid boom is a two seventy
five after a horrible start. Schwerver is ridiculous, nineteen homers,
fifty RBIs or forty some RBIs.

Speaker 2 (41:13):
He's gonna have like forty five home runs one hundred
and ten.

Speaker 5 (41:16):
And him hitting two sixties like anybody else hitting three
four Yeah.

Speaker 3 (41:20):
Stot to forty four a bad two four four bensince
made for Harper two fifty eight and with only nine
home runs just doesn't look like himself. Real Muto looks
old to twenty seven, no power.

Speaker 2 (41:33):
Kepler's brutal. Uh. The center field platoon marsh is up
is up to two thirteen, rows is down to two forty.

Speaker 3 (41:44):
So this has been like one of the better players.
He's a two eighty one. It's a bad lineup, Marshan.

Speaker 2 (41:49):
The backup catcher, Mike is hitting one thirty two, one
thirty two. You know what the problem is? One one
And this isn't necessarily the last time you had a head.

Speaker 4 (41:59):
This is not the conversation for today, but this offseason
for them, and look, they could be World Series champs.

Speaker 2 (42:05):
Who knows.

Speaker 4 (42:06):
And by the way, Philadelphia's never had two champions at
the same time. So the Eagles just won a Super Bowl.
Well I'm just telling it's never happened. But then again,
Haliburton never happened either. So what I'm saying is they
got decisions to make on their catcher, right because he's
gonna win three years.

Speaker 2 (42:25):
Maybe they already isn't They already in the middle of
a long term catcher.

Speaker 4 (42:28):
No catchers no catchers up and Schwarver's up and Schwarver
is gonna get lots and lots of cash for d
h who's thirty two, thirty three.

Speaker 2 (42:40):
I don't I can pay him for sure.

Speaker 4 (42:42):
I mean they're not a young team. They really aren't.
Harper's in year seven of Harper.

Speaker 2 (42:49):
Think about that. How many is that? Fifteen? How many thirteen? Yeah?
This year seven? This is it for j two. Yeah,
well do you sign him? He's gonna be thirty five?

Speaker 3 (42:59):
Don't like, I don't so real toos in the middle
of five years, one hundred and fifteen million contract you
signed in January of twenty twenty one.

Speaker 2 (43:06):
Yeah, this is yeah, this is this last year. You
gotta sign them if they want to cat able to
expire after this season. Yeah, yeah, they don't have a
lot of it's gonna be thirty five. His offense isn't
what it using.

Speaker 4 (43:16):
You can't make any real money anymore. I wouldn't think.
But maybe he will.

Speaker 2 (43:20):
I don't know. Oh no, but he's going to won it. Yeah,
of course, So.

Speaker 4 (43:23):
If the Phillies decide not to give it, somebody will
get it to them, because they always do.

Speaker 2 (43:27):
Yeah, that's true.

Speaker 4 (43:29):
But again the Phillies and then but they know how
a week or two. Again, this is what the Phillies are.
Where they'll they'll go, They'll go ten and three and
everybody will be hey, it's all over.

Speaker 2 (43:38):
I mean, look at when when did they play Colorado?

Speaker 4 (43:41):
Nex Dodgers just had a stretch where they went eating ten,
knocking Colorado.

Speaker 2 (43:45):
I forgot they're they're hot his teams in baseball. They
they did. They won three in a row in Miami.

Speaker 4 (43:50):
My friend, my Pittsburgh Pirate fan was amazed at the
Pirates won last night.

Speaker 2 (43:54):
Pirate cut They're only twenty five and a half out
of first.

Speaker 3 (43:57):
Pirates are a good squad. I mean, it's just a
question on when I start winning big money.

Speaker 4 (44:01):
Yeah, but I mean the Dodgers had stres Billy faultered
last night.

Speaker 2 (44:05):
The Dodgers just went eight and ten. They do. But
we don't live in La so we don't sit there
and go, oh my god. You know, the Phillies are
also World Series chance.

Speaker 4 (44:13):
Here's nobody nobody's repeated in twenty five years.

Speaker 3 (44:16):
Yeah, here's the biggest number of concern me. The Phillies
at this stage of the season. Thirty seven and twenty
six what's that? Sixty three games?

Speaker 6 (44:23):
Right?

Speaker 2 (44:24):
So one hundred to go, ninety nine to go, they're
plus seventeen run differentially, that's pathetic. That's they've been blown
out a lot. They lose.

Speaker 4 (44:32):
They got it was the record last year at this time, Kyle,
I gotta believe it was around maybe a little better.
It's definitely better than that because they were about to
go to London. They were never the same after they
went to London. That was it pretty much. They went
and they lost that game. To many games have they
played this year?

Speaker 2 (44:46):
Sixty three? Sixty three? So right now the wild card.

Speaker 3 (44:50):
If you're interested in such things as they are, oh,
that's right, they're not the longer and that's behind the mess. Sorry,
the Phillies are a game and a half ahead of
the crowd. SA there goes a game ahead. San Francisco
is the next team. Then Saint Louis is half a
game back, Milwaukee's two back. So basically, the Phillies are

(45:10):
like two games out of not even being in a wildcard.

Speaker 2 (45:13):
At the moment, you didn't have to say it. I'm
just want to throw it out.

Speaker 4 (45:17):
There's a number of teams in If this team does
not make it, does not make the playoffs, that's it.

Speaker 2 (45:22):
So it'll it'll be blowed up.

Speaker 4 (45:24):
That's it. You have to everybody gets fired. Well you can't,
I mean you can't. How if you the team. I'm
not saying make the playoffs and lose in the playoffs.
If you don't make the.

Speaker 2 (45:33):
Playoffs with this team, I think the key is giving
Brandon marsh like a five year extension.

Speaker 4 (45:39):
I would I give Kepler first though. Keler's the top priority.
This is what the Phillies have done recently. And he
did the same thing with Lozarno. But it worked out
for ten for ten starts because he was great. They
go out and get guys who are coming off an injury,
they were good three years ago, they signed them. They
give a couple of ten million dollars.

Speaker 2 (46:00):
One year, ten million dollars sign for a year. I believe.
I love that, you know all this.

Speaker 4 (46:05):
I just it's ten million dollars for what Because for
three years ago he hit twenty eight Three years ago
he hit twenty eight home runs for the White Sox
or whoever the hell he was playing for.

Speaker 2 (46:17):
I don't even I know. And I'm not knocking him.
It's not his fault. You can knock him. Oh, I
mean these guys, this is a sports star. Castlelados, that's
what Castlelandos is what he is over here. He's a
good player, but he's not.

Speaker 4 (46:30):
Yeah, I've never seen an outfield on a team that
that allegedly could win a World Series, Like they can't.

Speaker 2 (46:37):
Maybe they can't.

Speaker 3 (46:38):
Kepler that does have six home runs and twenty one
r behind that that's not enough for you.

Speaker 2 (46:43):
That doesn't tickle your fancy, you know, score the balls
square up. It's hard.

Speaker 4 (46:49):
I mean through the first fifty games, plus they don't
plus they don't play defense.

Speaker 2 (46:52):
Well there's that problem. I mean that their outfield.

Speaker 4 (46:55):
Kepler was in Mint, has been in Minnesota for a
number Yeah.

Speaker 5 (46:59):
Oh, by the way, if you will saw a career,
if you look up his h his playoff batting average,
it's like one to eighty or something.

Speaker 2 (47:06):
And Dombrowski's going to the Hall of Fame. Okay, I understand.

Speaker 5 (47:10):
Through fifty games last year, the Phillies were thirty six
and fourteen.

Speaker 2 (47:14):
Yeah, oh they were better.

Speaker 3 (47:15):
Okay, remember they had that really hot story. Yeah, so
Keppler's career batting average, Mike, what do you think of?
Oh god, how much did you say? You got ten?
Ten to forty. That's oppressive to thirty six. But he's
here to bolster that. Everybody's back. Nobody bats high anymore, right,
But he had twenty four homers in twenty twenty three. Yeah,

(47:38):
he had thirty six or twenty nine, but that.

Speaker 2 (47:41):
Was twenty nineteen.

Speaker 4 (47:42):
The Nationals won the World Series in twenty thoy nineteen.

Speaker 2 (47:45):
You don't need to yell. I mean it was like
that was like a generation. Yeah, I get it, I
get it. And they did the same thing when it.

Speaker 5 (47:54):
Was on eight home runs last year. Maybe he was
hurt and look, oh I gave him too much credit.
By the way, So four years of playoff baseball he's played,
he's hitting one forty.

Speaker 2 (48:05):
Six in the playoffs.

Speaker 5 (48:07):
Yeah, just but he you know, he's gonna make a
difference coming understand.

Speaker 2 (48:10):
He's another just average kid.

Speaker 4 (48:14):
I used to say this about the Yankees when the
Yankee fans, you can't have an all star in every position.

Speaker 2 (48:18):
I get that. You can't do that with the Phillies.

Speaker 4 (48:21):
Guys, look at their lineup in all Seriously, Pauper is
not having a good year. Now he might turn out
to have a good year. And he's getting older. He's
not old, but he's getting No, he's older than thirties.
He's been here for seven years, and he's I'm gonna sign.

Speaker 2 (48:37):
He's signed.

Speaker 3 (48:39):
Me first play in MLB when he was like thirteen. Yeah, yeah,
I mean I think he's he's been in the league since.

Speaker 4 (48:46):
I think his contract takes him up to thirty eight
or thirty nine, and then he wanted to sign more
years because he wants playoffs.

Speaker 2 (48:52):
Three. The catcher's old.

Speaker 4 (48:54):
The second basement for some reasons, has been in a
front for two years. Boom's been in a funk. The
shortstop is what he is, but he can't feel. But
he's batting three hundred, So okay, Harper, Harper.

Speaker 2 (49:05):
Last seven days batting average, Oh god, I think. Well,
he's been hurt ninety one. And they don't hit home
runs anymore. They're not a home run hitting.

Speaker 4 (49:14):
Their starting pitching is tremendous.

Speaker 2 (49:19):
Said, you're basically saying they think and they have no chance.

Speaker 4 (49:22):
Is that what you're talking I'm saying, I think they're
overrated a little bit in what we think, Well, we
think they always the best two weeks.

Speaker 5 (49:29):
Yeah, but to your point, you're not gonna have an
all start every position. But what I've seen again. I'm
going their track record. The last three years, you've had
two or three guys in the lineup that have been
automatic outs in October.

Speaker 4 (49:44):
Three, two or three at least, who's making the All
Star team? Wheelways going to be on the All Star team?
I would have said Lozardo till the last two starts
gave up twenty runs last week.

Speaker 2 (49:57):
Who other than your starting pitchers are going to be
on the All Starts? Swarm? Okay, who else? That's it?
That's it, that's it. Turner I don't Well, he might
make it though, he is just the look. They went
to these guys and said you swing too much on
bad pitches.

Speaker 4 (50:17):
Now all Castellano and Turner do or try to hit
the ball to right field, which is fine.

Speaker 2 (50:21):
Yeah, I'm not going not good guy for ding three hundred.
My my problem with him is he can't catch them.
That's a problem.

Speaker 4 (50:27):
I mean, shortstop is supposed to be your best, and.

Speaker 2 (50:31):
So is center fielder, and they goof up in center
field too.

Speaker 3 (50:34):
At third base, I actually think Scott would be better
at short that well.

Speaker 4 (50:37):
People have talked about switching that I would have made.
I'm telling you what again, I mean maybe I'm into minor.
I would have made Turner left fielder. I would just
said you're in left field. How much worse could he be?
Put Scott a shortstop? So now I don't know what
you do at second Sosa.

Speaker 2 (50:54):
Could be your second baseman, Like, I mean, you gotta,
don't you have?

Speaker 4 (50:58):
The Phillies are great at stay. Ain't just staying the course. Yeah,
we're gonna do this. We're gonna slug. We're gonna slug.
We're gonna dude, the ship will be right in. If
they don't win this year, that'll be four years where
you basically had the same team.

Speaker 2 (51:11):
Maybe they can sign Aaron Roddy. What are you thinking.
He's across the state. He's like, he's gonna be looking
for some action.

Speaker 4 (51:19):
I feel sorry, not sorry for getting Mike come up
Mike Tomlin because people are gonna tell me to show
that Mike Tomlin's going to the Hall of Fame. I'm like,
we haven't won a playoff game in a decade, but
he's going to the Hall of Fame.

Speaker 2 (51:29):
Every playoff game they're down twenty one nothing in the
first I mean, do I think that Rogers is better
than who was the other guy? That they were going
to play. Who was their quarterback? Mason Rudolph? Right? Is
he better to Mason Rudolph? Yes, many of I think so.
Mason Rudolph is a legend. Are you thinking me? Come on, Mike, Yeah,
you know what the Steelers are gonna do. I'm gonna
lay this out for you.

Speaker 4 (51:49):
If Rogers doesn't get hurt and they trade it, they
just traded the wide receiver. It suppose anyway, Pickings, they're
gonna go ten and seven.

Speaker 2 (51:56):
They're gonna make the playoffs and lose. That's just write
it down.

Speaker 4 (52:01):
They've lost in the first They're gonna go ten and
seven because the Ravens Arena.

Speaker 2 (52:06):
The Ravens are gonna win the division.

Speaker 4 (52:08):
The Bengals, I'm gonna give him credit for finishing second
even though they start off one and five.

Speaker 2 (52:12):
Every year Pittsburgh will finish third and they somehow Browsers
not gonna get it done. He might get Dylan Gaber Joe.

Speaker 4 (52:23):
Flacco got him to the playoffs two years, go on,
eleven games and picket they have not, by the way,
and this is this, how did spend the all time here?

Speaker 2 (52:31):
There? This is complete? And said, how did somebody play this? Back,
they would have all those two minutes ago.

Speaker 5 (52:37):
You rewind two minutes ago were talking about Phillies and
we're talking about the.

Speaker 2 (52:40):
Steelers, brows committed.

Speaker 4 (52:43):
How do the Buffalo Bills win the a f CS
and have the easiest schedule in football?

Speaker 2 (52:49):
Good questions? You're gonna explain it to us? I don't
all because apparently Buffalo has.

Speaker 4 (52:54):
Love how his mind works. Well, you were to know
you were like gears. We were talking about the a
f C and make in the player and buff talking
about the Phillies. Well that was my fault. And Aaron
Rodgers coming to.

Speaker 5 (53:07):
The Pittsburgh Pittsburgh's over under and wins eight and a half.

Speaker 2 (53:12):
Yeah, man, that's what they are.

Speaker 4 (53:14):
And the and they'll probably go over and somebody will
tell me last year they were ten and three and
oh Tomlin and that look, I'm not nine.

Speaker 2 (53:23):
They lost like five or last six or wherever. They
did a real band at the end.

Speaker 4 (53:26):
Yeah, but again, I'm not knocking Mike Tomlin. I think
Mike tom but they haven't had a quarterback. And maybe
that's not Mike Tomlin's fault. Maybe that's it's Roethlisberger left.

Speaker 2 (53:36):
You really don't like Mason Riddle. I don't know anything
about Mason.

Speaker 4 (53:40):
You know who knows something about reminds me of the
guy in Tennessee who is who's.

Speaker 2 (53:47):
He stinks? He stinks.

Speaker 3 (53:51):
There's probably an indication where he couldn't even start for
his own college team. And yeah he might, he might
not be that who goes to the six six and
two forty who goes into a season with Mason Rudolph
as your quarterback.

Speaker 2 (54:04):
I'll tell you what. So here's the Eagles. They got,
they got Jalen Hurts and you got Mason. A choice
between Jailing Hurts and Mason Rudolph. That's definitely Mason. How
could you not use Mason? I mean, what is Jalen
Hurts ever done? So you're not, to my knowledge, to.

Speaker 4 (54:21):
Anybody's, Mason Rudolph is the top test. It hurts want
to playoff game. He lost in the box twice. It's amazing.
It is amazing to me know how many NFL teams
just don't have a quarterback. I know there's only so
many of them to go around. I get that, but
my god, so many teams are looking at you.

Speaker 2 (54:43):
It is.

Speaker 4 (54:45):
I'm sorry, try your hair man. It's the whole point.
I love it. Mike k mayhe like we do. Like
you know, we go off intens.

Speaker 2 (54:54):
It's we're gonna change the name of this showers. All right,
You have listening? Have we done an hour? Yeah? I

Mike is in Germany. Something is wrong with this picture.

Speaker 3 (56:00):
Uh, I will have something on the Belmont Stakes. I
will give out a late daily double that you can
probably just throw the trash can giving a given hell
I've done this year.

Speaker 2 (56:09):
Through the triple ground and whatever else might come up.

Speaker 3 (56:12):
And what we know is that it's a possibility that
anything could come up in the next time you will
hit the French Open. You know what that's a really
good point is that is the fine The women's finals
going on, Like as we speak, I.

Speaker 2 (56:23):

a high gambling problem?

Speaker 3 (58:05):
One eight hunder Ohio Gambler, Dick Chardi, Mike Kern, Kyle
not Amaker, Mike before you get to the Canadian Open
in this insane even for us first hour, we uh
Kyle has googled a number of topics.

Speaker 2 (58:17):
Can you go over all the different searches?

Speaker 5 (58:20):
And this isn't even just from the first hour, This
is just from the last segment. I have J t
ro Muto contract Philly's record, Bryce Harper NHL, Mason Rudolph,
Trey Turner, Titans depth chart, and Max Kepler.

Speaker 3 (58:37):
And that doesn't cover even half of what we will.
So we were just talking off the air. When I
might say something or Kyle does, it will trigger something
in Mike's brain, which again.

Speaker 2 (58:46):
We need an X ray over an MRI. And he
knows you'll forget it.

Speaker 3 (58:50):
I don't prom if he doesn't say it, he will
forget it because he's old. So he just has to
say it, which is why he's here.

Speaker 4 (58:59):
Kyle just brow up something interesting about that. You can
request an intention. We're talking about women softball, that's right,
another top nobody and all the stories I read said that,
why were you pitching?

Speaker 2 (59:13):
We're talking about Texas.

Speaker 4 (59:14):
I thought it was so bizarre, and I'm I'm you know,
what's staszling that you were watching women's softball?

Speaker 2 (59:20):
Were you watching it or you just turn I showed
the highlight on. Can't remember. I wasn't watching it.

Speaker 4 (59:28):
It just mess minds you. The girl said, well, I
don't know how to do that. Well, no, all you
got to do is tell the umpire and centered that.
But anyway, uh, Mike, everybody Canadian before I get that
next week is the US opening, and I will be
on a ship Germany Rhine to go to Heidelberg.

Speaker 2 (59:45):
Don't Frankfurt, I think so, I don't know.

Speaker 4 (59:48):

district in Amsterdam.

Speaker 2 (59:59):
We want some video, the best one.

Speaker 4 (01:00:02):
So I called you guys from up you guys from
a pro shop in Ireland. Pro shop in Ireland where
Rory Mcelrory's pictures on the wall, called you from Hawaii,
called you from Italy twice.

Speaker 2 (01:00:14):
Hawaii was the best one. It was great.

Speaker 4 (01:00:17):
It was straight, just sitting there talking before I get now, Rory.
This is the first time Rory's played I believe, since
he didn't talk at the PGA. So he addressed it
and I understood his reasons. He he was upset that
somebody had had leaked the news that his driver was
not conformed, so he didn't talk about worry. I get it,

(01:00:38):
and he was upset. He makes good points, but you
should have said something at the PGA. He just said, hey,
I'm upset after it was over not doing the you
know your last day there, Hey, I was upset. I
have a right to be upset there he played. He
shot seventy eight yesterday and you got with the US
Open coming up in the mess cuts not No, it's

(01:01:01):
not good. So he might the Masters might be all
he does. And I got him into British Open, So.

Speaker 2 (01:01:05):
What the hell? What's going on in the Canadian.

Speaker 4 (01:01:08):
Came Open, which they moved a couple of years ago
to the week before the US Open.

Speaker 2 (01:01:13):
It used to be played I think after the US
later in the year.

Speaker 4 (01:01:15):
Yeah, So Cameron Champ is your leader, twelve under, Andrew
Putnam's second. It's not really great tournament. Nick Taylor's third,
not with a few other guys.

Speaker 2 (01:01:25):
Nick Taylor in the Canadian, he's Canadian. He won US
two years.

Speaker 4 (01:01:29):
And then Lowry Shane, who always seems to be in
the mix, is eight. But I'm gonna throw one at
you just for the hell of it. Louis love Aver
is eight off the pace, he's sixty to one. Would
you I don't think he can win. He's eight down,
he's sixty to one.

Speaker 3 (01:01:45):
Beethoven, Yeah, would you throw a ten on him, or
I would throw a thousand on him.

Speaker 2 (01:01:50):
Okay, see, I'm not You're not that brave.

Speaker 4 (01:01:52):
No, the two guys I was looking at and I
hate the fact that he won two years ago.

Speaker 2 (01:01:56):
But Nick Taylor is not a big alfre. He's nine
to one. Yep.

Speaker 4 (01:02:00):
You could take Cameron Champ with a two stroke lead
at for fifty to one, which isn't bad. You know,
he's not a bad player. Or you could do Lowry
who's also nine to one.

Speaker 2 (01:02:09):
So what are you gonna do?

Speaker 4 (01:02:11):
Make a Well, I don't want to.

Speaker 2 (01:02:16):
I'm gonna go Nick Taylor.

Speaker 4 (01:02:18):
I hate picking a guy who won this two years ago,
but for a long time Canadian hadn't won this and
sort of like, huh, well I got Connor and Kyle's
got him.

Speaker 2 (01:02:29):
Too, but he's like another Canadian. He's yeah, and Hadwin's
also in the tournament. Another Canadian. But where is this tournament?
That's it? I didn't look at it. I'm so I'm sorry.
They move it around.

Speaker 4 (01:02:41):
Okay, Yeah, that's Ausprey Valley they usually played on in
the East.

Speaker 2 (01:02:45):
But and they're going to Oakmont, so you know, not that. Yeah,
by the way, about oak Oakmont in.

Speaker 4 (01:02:53):
My opinion, might be the best site for US Open
in terms of the course, in terms of everything that
you you put into it. I think I was looking
this up next year Shinnecock, which is another great place
out on Long Island.

Speaker 2 (01:03:06):
They're going to like La at some point.

Speaker 4 (01:03:08):
They're coming to Marion in two thousand and thirty to
celebrate Bobby Jones hundredth universary of him winning the Grand Slam.
So but yeah, what year, twenty thirty five years? Yeah,
that'll be there. Hopefully I'll be able to make it
out there.

Speaker 2 (01:03:24):
I'll still be stage.

Speaker 4 (01:03:27):
Well, Marian gets the will Wheelie out there in case
people for their brain will be fried. But Marian gets
the US Amateur next year, which is a need event taxially,
if you just want to go out and see Mary. Yeah,
because it's no admission, you just go out. Oh yeah,
it's one of those because they don't make money off that.

Speaker 2 (01:03:43):
I don't think. I think they just maybe they charge
you a nominal fee.

Speaker 3 (01:03:46):
They'd love me and Marion I'm big after and you
can just go out because the crowds that the Amateur
won't be as big.

Speaker 4 (01:03:52):
And then next year we have a PGA. No, we
should do the week in the PGA. We should do
this show from the PGA.

Speaker 2 (01:04:00):
Yeah, I don't say a problem with that. You should.
We'll have to talk to the Gambler for people. Yeah,
talk to the beings.

Speaker 4 (01:04:05):
Maybe maybe Tiger will be playing and you can go
out and follow Tiger, because that's what you did that
for like five tournaments.

Speaker 2 (01:04:10):
In your life were the only tournaments I ever went to.

Speaker 3 (01:04:14):
And in the US, we're tight Tiger.

Speaker 2 (01:04:19):
He used to look over the crowd. Right, man, we
text eight or seven here. You were just texting with
them last night.

Speaker 4 (01:04:28):
That's correct, By the way, struggling. This is how Michael
Jack's life is going. So two weeks ago I played
at Pine Valley, you know, yes, yesterday I played Squires
all male club, and they I'm telling you, I'm not
judging whatever. Of course, is very very very hot. It's

(01:04:49):
at Ambler. It's not far from mom campus, wish Hick
in high school out that way. Kind of this place
is when you when you go into hospital. The attention
to detail that they do like in there, it's unbelievable.
I mean, it's a pro it's private course.

Speaker 2 (01:05:05):
You're not a member.

Speaker 1 (01:05:07):
Come back.

Speaker 2 (01:05:09):
They would love to have me as a member.

Speaker 4 (01:05:12):
Anybody become a member, lots upon it and he become
a I mean, Julius Irving, once upon a time was
a member. Somebody told me, I don't know if there's
troupe that Aaron McKee was a member at some Now,
I don't know if this is true. And somebody said,
like now and the great well, I shouldn't tell to him.
They might not, but apparently it's it's really you can
do anything you want there. There's no women allowed.

Speaker 6 (01:05:35):
No.

Speaker 2 (01:05:35):
I mean that, what does that mean? You can do
anything you want.

Speaker 4 (01:05:38):
If I want to play, If I want to play
in my underwear, I could have They have no they
have a thing.

Speaker 2 (01:05:44):
They have a thing says no rules, no rules.

Speaker 4 (01:05:47):
So one time apparently somebody a fed Ex driver, something
was delivered and it had happened to be a female
and they called that X and said no, no more.

Speaker 2 (01:05:59):
This is like twenty twenty five. This is real.

Speaker 4 (01:06:01):
There's like there's about twenty there's about twenty clubs in
the country that are all male, and they're one of them,
and they're very like when you're out there, I mean,
they treat you like royalty.

Speaker 2 (01:06:11):
It's sometimes it's just not a woman. Then you got problems,
I have a break from the women. Well you'll love this.

Speaker 4 (01:06:17):
I walked in, I said something to somebody like, where's
the men's room?

Speaker 2 (01:06:22):
And you looked at me. You're only the restrooms there,
And I'm like, oh, where's this? Where's the women's And
again the women work there?

Speaker 4 (01:06:31):
No, allow all the all of the waiters are waiters.

Speaker 3 (01:06:39):
And this is twenty twenty five, yes, June, and this
is still happening in the US event.

Speaker 4 (01:06:46):
Yes, all right, Okay, Well, aren't there clubs? I'm just saying,
aren't there clubs where you have to be Jewish? Or
aren't there clubs where you are there all sick?

Speaker 2 (01:06:54):
Are there all women clubs? I don't. I have no idea.
I'm guessing there are, though, I mean I don't know. Yeah.
I thought we got passed that we don't get pasted
anything like.

Speaker 4 (01:07:05):
I just you give us too much credit. So I
will say this. The food was tremendous, my god. And
the golf course was great. What'd you shoot?

Speaker 2 (01:07:14):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (01:07:14):
I think I had like a ninety one, it's a
pretty good. How many mulligan Then the Mulligan's didn't count.
We didn't count them like towards the score.

Speaker 2 (01:07:22):
They never do count.

Speaker 3 (01:07:24):
Sometimes they do. All right, let's get serious. For I
don't know a minute, scuore the ball. Maybe two Oklahoma City.
We have to give in gambling here. This is a
gambling show minus eleven tomorrow night on ABC.

Speaker 2 (01:07:40):
Mike Current, your thoughts on this game? Two?

Speaker 4 (01:07:42):
Then if I was a total idiot, I would lay
the four. No, I would lay the five ninety and
bed okac. But that's obviously a lot. Well, how much
money do you have? I mean, if you have millions
and millions of the money you go to Europe, you
know why. You obviously just played Squires. So so if fine,
if I wanted to win one hundred thousand, I'd have

(01:08:03):
to bet six hundred thousand, seven hundred thousand. And like
you said last week, if you have that much money,
why are you trying to win one hundred thousand?

Speaker 7 (01:08:10):
Thank you?

Speaker 4 (01:08:11):
But I don't see, okay, See nobody in the world
she's okay, see losing this game except the people at
Saint Elmos.

Speaker 2 (01:08:18):
But Indiana.

Speaker 4 (01:08:19):
I just there's something about Indiana that I just and
they're gonna have a stink and they might lose in five.
It reminds me of the Sixers in two thousand and one.
The only difference was the Sixers were banged up at
that point to playing the Lakers. Lakers had won the
year before Sixers Wing Game one.

Speaker 2 (01:08:34):
He steps over time.

Speaker 3 (01:08:36):
Like I want to say, the Sixers were a little
bigger underdog.

Speaker 4 (01:08:39):
They were like ten to one because other guys were hurt. Right,
Plus every series goes seven, and the.

Speaker 3 (01:08:44):
Shaq Kobe Lakers had not lost the game in the
playoffs set.

Speaker 2 (01:08:47):
And by the way, the Sixers almost won game two.
I'm aware of it.

Speaker 4 (01:08:51):
And then they came here or he hits a couple
shots at the end of games. We were all there,
we were covering it. Yes, and the Lakers won five
and this shit, So this could happen, you know, Okay,
see you could just all of a sudden say hey,
like Dick said, they've lost one game all year to
Eastern teams. I think and I thought before the series
it could go six. I was given Indiana. I still

(01:09:11):
think it. But man, it's just okay, se is just
too good.

Speaker 2 (01:09:15):
What given the eleven Jesus Monde.

Speaker 4 (01:09:19):
Eleven a lot? You know, is Indiana going to be
happy if they won the War games? Is your middle name, vacillate?

Speaker 2 (01:09:26):
What is up with this?

Speaker 7 (01:09:27):
Manet get somewhere. Come on, man, I'll take Indiana and
the love Indiana. Indiana is very unpredictable. They they find
different ways to surprise us. But with that being said,
I'm all over. Okay, see here, I think they're too
good to you should I think they're they're too good

(01:09:47):
of a team to even let Indiana sniff going up
to Oh, I think okay, See wins this one handling.

Speaker 3 (01:09:55):
Yeah, that's the logical answer. Okay, see by fifty tomorrow
night is my theory. We'll see how it works.

Speaker 2 (01:10:00):
It would you lay to five sixty just to have
him win?

Speaker 3 (01:10:02):
Yeah, I'm gonna tease them up to fifty, get like
ten to one. I get mine. If they went by
forty nine, I lose.

Speaker 2 (01:10:08):
It'll be a sick like the Eagles twenty one and zero.

Speaker 5 (01:10:11):
That's right, Yeah, manw the odds on Indiana just forfeitting
probably not high fight didn't find it last.

Speaker 2 (01:10:18):
Seems unlikely that would be a number on.

Speaker 4 (01:10:20):
Let's say when the Eagles were two and two, yes,
and you went to a better yeah, and you said,
I want to bet the Eagles to win the next
seventeen and if you made that bet and lost because
Jalen got hurt against the command, think how close you
would have came to winning that.

Speaker 2 (01:10:36):
Well, there's a couple of guys online.

Speaker 3 (01:10:38):
There's one kid that bet a thousand on the pacers
three months ago to win the title.

Speaker 4 (01:10:43):
One to fifty's one hundred and fifty to one.

Speaker 2 (01:10:45):
Yeah, oh my god. Now would you head your bet? Now,
would you? I was a little surprised. Well, you can
do that.

Speaker 3 (01:10:50):
But the further they get along, the better shot you
have of doing of hedging something.

Speaker 2 (01:10:55):
But he's in a hell of a spot right now.

Speaker 3 (01:10:58):
They ain't one hundred and fifty anymore three to one, No,
they are plus two sixty five. So basically five to two.
Every two dollars you bet, you win five. Like for
every one you bet, you win one hundred and fifty.

Speaker 2 (01:11:14):
So it might be a hedge of mind. There's numbers
out there.

Speaker 3 (01:11:16):
I was surprised to see that they were that big
of a number, and maybe the bet, maybe it was
it was on the internet.

Speaker 2 (01:11:22):
It could have been something I missed on it. But anyway,
he was standing to make a lot of them had
to sell it.

Speaker 4 (01:11:26):
You had the Calves. Well, they were certainly not the favorites.
But since the Lakers and first though, don't they have
one of the best of them And OKC I think
have the two best records.

Speaker 2 (01:11:36):
They've been great. I had no question, all right, hockey
Mike Kurrent is our hockey expert here. Yeah, were good series,
both overtime games.

Speaker 4 (01:11:46):
Yeah, first time since twenty fourteen that that's happened in
the finals and the LA Kings.

Speaker 2 (01:11:51):
Won that Year's been very exciting with X Flyers on
the team.

Speaker 4 (01:11:55):
By the way, on which one the LA Kings and
they had the two The Flyers got rid of it,
they went and they're winning two.

Speaker 2 (01:12:02):
Cups in LA.

Speaker 4 (01:12:04):
Slobrowski's trying to win another Cup with Florida, of course
he is X Flyer. So Monday Night, Monday Night Game
three and Sunshine Florida.

Speaker 2 (01:12:14):
For the people who don't know whether they is hockey town.

Speaker 3 (01:12:16):
Yeah, it's north of Fort Lauderdale, not all that far
from the Fort Lauderdale Airport. I think I stayed there
when I went down for the Orange Bowl years and
years ago for reasons that I could, probably because I
marry a points. I don't remember anymch anyway, the Panthers
are minus one one Edmonton plus one seventeen.

Speaker 2 (01:12:38):
Let's see about this. Now, the Oilers were to slave
favor going into the series. They were Let's see what
series line is?

Speaker 5 (01:12:44):
Minus one eighteen Florida plus one hundred Edmonton for the
for the series.

Speaker 3 (01:12:49):
So Florida is now the favorite now that they have
they split in an advantage. Mike is our resident hockey expert.
Do you have a prediction for Game three? And well,
my prediction was that your call and dry title was
now again as I read it, they still say that

(01:13:11):
McDavid is the favorite because apparently he's played better during
the whole playoffs, which is what they give this award for.

Speaker 2 (01:13:17):
That dry. Was he the guy that they invented the
Stanley Cup or something like? What the hell? It's probably Stanley,
Lord Stanley, that's true. I think he's backing up Mason Rudolph, and.

Speaker 4 (01:13:30):
Mason Rudolph could be a goal that could be a
goalie name in the NHL, Mason Rudolph. I like that?

Speaker 2 (01:13:37):
Do you like?

Speaker 4 (01:13:38):
I'm rooting for the Oilers because I think these are
two very evenly matched teams and I think hock the
hockey playoffs are just the toughest one to win to
get through the whole thing. McDavid's been really good and dry.
I mean the games have been higher scoring than I
thought because usually, you know, last year, I think Florida

(01:14:01):
won the final two to one.

Speaker 2 (01:14:02):
I think was game seven. Yep, he got over Undergo.

Speaker 4 (01:14:06):
I'm going to ride with the oilers because I because
I liked them before. Well I didn't like them, but
I'm rooting for him. I think this is going a
long way. I think this is going to be like
a seven gamer game. I'm taking the oilers in the
game or the series both. Kyle, your thoughts on the
Stanley Cup.

Speaker 5 (01:14:23):
I'm gonna go a little different here. I'll go Florida
Game three, but I still like Edmonton series.

Speaker 3 (01:14:32):
McDavid's the favorite for the con Smith who is Conn
smyth And we figured that out.

Speaker 2 (01:14:35):
Yeah, No, I don't even know if he exists mcdo
I think he exists?

Speaker 3 (01:14:38):
McDavid plus one oh five Robotsky plus four twenty five
Bennett there's been the star for Florida plus four twenty
five dry titles now at plus five fifty for the
So he came down a fair man, he did, and
he had the game winner in Game one.

Speaker 4 (01:14:54):
See to me, if you think Florida is going to win,
you bet one of those two guys that you just said,
or Bo both.

Speaker 2 (01:15:00):
Of them, Bob or Bennett. Yeah. Yeah, you're gonna get
a better price than you're gonna get for both of them.
Get That's what I'm saying. Yeah, absolutely, you know I
like it? Okay. Conn Smike Yest's better known as Constantine Falkland,
Carrie Smythe of course or Con Yeah, was a Canadian businessman, soldier,

(01:15:20):
and sportsman in ice hockey and horse racing. Really yes,
he's been you didn't know who.

Speaker 5 (01:15:25):
He was best known as the principal owner of the
Toronto Maple of the NHL from nineteen twenty seven to
nineteen sixty one.

Speaker 2 (01:15:34):
As you might recall, Toronto actually won. That's when they
were They actually won something when he was there. His
name appears on the Stanley Cup eight times. Wow, is
there any big horse racing Canada? Himes?

Speaker 3 (01:15:46):
Yeah, the King's plate used to be the Queen's plate,
but then the queen passed away.

Speaker 2 (01:15:50):
So that's the case. Oh oh, that's their version of
the Kentucky where's that at? Like Woodbind Race?

Speaker 3 (01:15:55):
Course, which is I've heard of that right next to
the Toronto Airport, Okay?

Speaker 2 (01:15:58):
Where I was that where Turcott was up there? When
you went up like dark Ron Turcotte was the writer
of Secretariat. Wasn't he from up there? Like from Canada?
But he lives in No man's Okay. Get you fly
to Boston, then.

Speaker 3 (01:16:10):
You fly to a little airport in Maine, then you
go into Canada in the middle of nowhere.

Speaker 2 (01:16:15):
That's where he lived.

Speaker 3 (01:16:16):
New Brunswick, Okay, Okay.

Speaker 2 (01:16:18):
Interesting, Yeah, I'm sure you'd be interested in going to
New Brunswick. Yes, was he? You said it all? Was he?

Speaker 1 (01:16:26):
I know? No.

Speaker 4 (01:16:27):
Further, I know people who went up there. Jojiu Wiana
my friend used to go. They sent there's parts up
there that are just beautiful. You's go in the summer,
you know, when you don't when going the winter. Nay.

Speaker 3 (01:16:36):
I was there in like April. Yeah, as I record,
it was Turcut the one that got paralyzed. Threat he
won the Triple Cran five years later he was paralyzed
and I went up to do a story. I remember
that twenty fifth anniversion of Secretary at Triple Crant, thinking
it was going to be this really sad story. This
poor guy is paralyzed, but.

Speaker 2 (01:16:51):
He was awesome. He's like the town hero. Is he
still with us? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:16:55):
Bridge and the bridge in his little hometown is named
after him. He drove me off all over the place.

Speaker 2 (01:17:00):
It was great.

Speaker 3 (01:17:01):
It's like, I mean, some of the great stories that
you get are for people who were once famous and
now they're not.

Speaker 2 (01:17:07):
And the kind of people leave them alone and then
you go talk to him and sit down. And Tim Horton's,
which is a spot up in Canada. Love Tim Hortons.
There's one over in Jersey there where my wife.

Speaker 4 (01:17:19):
Tim horton On on the White Horse Pike near near
the where's that train you take the Linden Wall high
speed Line. I'm driving by one day and I looked
at it because I saw it. I went to one
in Buffalo when we're up there, and of course you
and and I'm like, that place is good.

Speaker 2 (01:17:34):
What do you get a Tim donut? It's like a
Dunkin Donuts, only better high end. Don't get the donut.

Speaker 4 (01:17:41):
Everything's good. Probably good coffee, sat alms. Yeah, you can
get the Tim Morton's call and work there. No, no,
you can buy it in the shop right, Tim Morton's coffee.
My wife said it was good score the ball.

Speaker 2 (01:17:58):
I love that.

Speaker 4 (01:17:59):
I love that line, are off the ball. I love
Jimmy Lyneham to death. But he says that, And I'm
just like.

Speaker 2 (01:18:07):
Had conn smythe and Tim Horton's to my Google search.
There you go for the show, and you thought he
was a made up person.

Speaker 5 (01:18:16):
No I knew constant Teuh, all right, he's Falkland.

Speaker 2 (01:18:19):
Look up Tim Horton, Tim Horton here. No, he was
a great Canadian hockey player, was no way?

Speaker 4 (01:18:25):
Oh yeah, yeah, any any he died in a car
crash and he started this company NHL.

Speaker 2 (01:18:33):
So he started the restaurant. I believe so. Yes, I
think he died in a car crash. Car. Yeah, in
nineteen seventy four. Did he play for the UH Toronto?

Speaker 4 (01:18:43):
He was?

Speaker 2 (01:18:43):
He was on that. I bet he was on their
last team, the sixty seven team. He played twenty four seasons.

Speaker 4 (01:18:49):
I bet you he might have skated around him. Male thing, yeah, yeah,
all right, Yeah, you don't think I noticed them? I
know you, boy, You're the only one that knows this stuff.
That's why I google. If I'm sitting there watching tape
of basketball games. If my man knows who smite? I
google fifty things a day, Like if I'm watching a movie,

(01:19:12):
I'll call the cat. I'll google like somebody in the
movie just to see like what the heck they did?

Speaker 2 (01:19:16):
Or you know. Either way, speaking of movies documentaries, I
don't know if anybody's seen this yet. But speaking with
speaking speaking of Mason Rudolph are one of our favorites,
and Aaron Rodgers and quarterbacks, does anybody see the movie
about Brett or the dock on that? Yes? I did
watch Have you seen what you got? Netflix? I heard

(01:19:38):
it was made up like well he let him talk
about was what he was? He had to say? Over
what they know? He had no sense. No, it was
all again they killed him. Ye. It was always all
about the money in Mississippi, like what they were doing
with if anything, among other things. The entire thing was anti.

Speaker 3 (01:19:53):
Yeah, okay, the poor women. Jen Sturger, that was she
was a I didn't know any of this. She was
a Florida State co ed. Had a football game and
that was the night where Brett Musburger saw her in
the crowd and went berserk over her, almost got fired
because of it.

Speaker 2 (01:20:11):
Just said something about it. I don't remember the exact line,
but I know it became famous, was on the front
page of the papers. She became famous for being famous.

Speaker 4 (01:20:20):
And then she actually carved out a pretty nice career
working for different and she was the woman with the
Jets that Farv kept sending text messages to which eventually
came out and the bizarre and she was great in
the documentary.

Speaker 3 (01:20:35):
She was tremendous. And I mean, I didn't even know
what you looked like. I knew nothing about her, and
I'm watching this and at the end of it, this
whole thing went on for months while far was with
the Jets. It ended up costing her her job. And
the bottom line was, she's never even met.

Speaker 4 (01:20:50):
She's never met him her job because because it became
a big deal and they weren't gonna blow farm up,
they were gonna.

Speaker 2 (01:20:58):
Blow her up.

Speaker 5 (01:21:00):
It was a problem within the Jets organization, so naturally
they're gonna let her go.

Speaker 2 (01:21:05):
I kind of ruined her career she was heading in.
I remember that, I remember smart person who deserves a
spot in her because she did carve out a really
nice career.

Speaker 4 (01:21:15):
I knew the guy that covered far when you played
in Green Bay. The writer good friend of mine. He
used to tell us some stories.

Speaker 2 (01:21:24):
Yeah, my man Bill Michaels from Milwaukee was on it.

Speaker 1 (01:21:29):
I know.

Speaker 2 (01:21:29):
They did a great job.

Speaker 5 (01:21:30):
Explaining and even if you don't watch the documentary and
you don't know that much about Brett Farr, just the
fact of his you know, old retirement.

Speaker 2 (01:21:38):
I'm not retiring, I'm coming back.

Speaker 4 (01:21:41):
You just know he's that that whole thing with the
money and his daughter playing volleyball, and that is scum. Like,
first of all, you have the money, you can give
the money to your alma mater.

Speaker 5 (01:21:54):
But he you know, and then they yeah, they clocked
him on text messages saying like am I going to
get in trouble?

Speaker 2 (01:22:00):
Further, so he was aware of what they're all going
with the money.

Speaker 6 (01:22:03):
Kyle.

Speaker 3 (01:22:04):
It was, it was really I thought it was really
well done. I mean I knew the periphery of the story.
I didn't know the whole story. But obviously Forbe did
not participate trying to interview him, and he wanted no
parts of it. But man, talk about it.

Speaker 2 (01:22:17):
It was, yes, not good, but I would recommend in
the documentary. Yeah, I was disappointed. I wanted to hear
I thought, wasn't he back up at some point? Probably
he was everybody's back up. Here's my here's my final
Mason Rudolph question. But maybe not. Where Where did he
play college football? He played at?

Speaker 4 (01:22:38):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (01:22:38):
I think he played at Oklahoma State. That sounds right,
Oklahoma State. You like that? He sounds good than me?
Like that? I think that. That's all. If I pulled this,
Hans should know that. I think you. I think you're
right he did. How about that is just first round drafts?
You still know? I hope not Mason Rudolph. How did

(01:23:00):
I know that? I hope you need go to like
the fourth down? Where did he get drafted? All right,
there's only a third round? All right? There you go.
That sounds It's cool.

Speaker 3 (01:23:08):
A little less than twenty five minutes left to this madness.
Let me get back from the commercial break.

Speaker 2 (01:23:13):
And we're gonna dive into the Titan step chart.

Speaker 3 (01:23:15):
Then, yeah, we're gonna get We're gonna get Sean Bernard
in here, and we're gonna talk about Mike Kurrn's favorite
team for a couple of minutes. Because it's a tradition
on sports are there and everywhere we save them for
last because that's where they usually finish.

Speaker 2 (01:23:30):
Welcome, Welcome, now, Oh you're listening to sports are there

Gambling problem money under Gambler. We're going to turn our
lonely eyes to Sean Bernard, who's going to attempt to
save us in the final twenty minutes or so when
he actually is going to bring I think.

Speaker 2 (01:24:14):
Some sanity to this program, but possibly not.

Speaker 1 (01:24:16):
We'll be back right up to this The Gambler, Philly's
home for all things sports gambling.

Speaker 2 (01:24:30):
You'll play it blow ball.

Speaker 5 (01:24:35):
Was Google that.

Speaker 2 (01:24:39):

Speaker 4 (01:24:52):

in your pockets, sports and casino in one got to
Betparks Dot Coyle The only app I recommend must be
twenty one and in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio, Michigan
Gambling Problem one eight hundred gambler Dictuary along with Mike Current,

(01:25:15):
Kyle Naughtemaker Sear Bernard's going to join U?

Speaker 2 (01:25:18):
Sean, can you play that one more time? Just to
set this up, just give it, if we could just
have one more time. This doesn't get your juice, definitely
gets mine flowing bight, Sean. Uh, where are we?

Speaker 3 (01:25:36):
We're twenty two minutes from the finish line? Here any
six Ers news. I'm trying not to pay attention to
our eyes and ears.

Speaker 2 (01:25:42):
What are we hear? Yeah? Not a ton concrete in
the world. Definitely a ton of like this.

Speaker 6 (01:25:47):
A speculation reports about them potentially trading down or looking
other directions. It does feel like momentum has swung away
from the Ace Bailey campaign, which is a little bit interesting.

Speaker 7 (01:25:56):
There.

Speaker 6 (01:25:56):
He's probably I think he's up there with the most
polarizing draft prospects I've ever seen, with the array of
opinions on him, but it does feel like the speculation
seems to be the teams that fell in the lottery
that are looking to take that superstar swing, like the
Jazz or the Nets or the Hornets.

Speaker 2 (01:26:11):
There seem like a more likely target to try and
leap up and get him, okay, and then the Sixers
would get what a player of some sort Markel Fols.

Speaker 6 (01:26:21):
The one that has made the most sense to me
is like a Nets framework where the Sixers drop down
to eight, potentially pick up like a Cam Johnson type player,
and then still make that selection at eight.

Speaker 2 (01:26:30):
I could see that making some sense. If they do
stay at three, it does be like like if they
move down to eight, like would they get draft picks
or yes.

Speaker 6 (01:26:38):
Essentially, the kind of the framework of that would be
they drop from the third pick to the eighth pick,
pick up Cam Johnson is seems seemingly the most likely there,
and then they can still make that selection at eight,
which isn't a terrible set up there, no.

Speaker 4 (01:26:49):
But what I'm saying, but then they're going to get
some of the Nets drift picks like in future years
or no, they're getting Cam Johnson, here's he's a legitimate NBA. Yeah,
and then who would you take it?

Speaker 2 (01:27:03):
Eight? You just get a good player.

Speaker 5 (01:27:05):
And I've been saying for throughout this entire process that
Cam Johnson's the missing piece.

Speaker 2 (01:27:10):
Would yeah work? Of course? No, Cam Jackson is very
good place.

Speaker 4 (01:27:13):
You know what, if I got that choice or I
don't know what Bailey could want it being great, yep,
I would do that.

Speaker 2 (01:27:20):
Sean, What are you doing in that spot? What do
you like? Do you like that Cam Johnson go to eight?

Speaker 6 (01:27:24):
What scares me the most about it is like, if
they don't take Ace Bailey and then this dude is
just a star for the next decade is going to
be like brutal.

Speaker 2 (01:27:31):
So I have a hard time with that that aspect
of things.

Speaker 6 (01:27:33):
If you're able to pick up Johnson and drop the eight,
I don't think there's that much of a gap between
like three and eight in this specific draft common Malowak,
the center out of Duke is something that's really intriguing
to me, So that would be probably my preference. But
I also think that's a little telling on the outlook
on Joel If they go that direction.

Speaker 3 (01:27:48):
Yeah, that if they if they end up in Malawata,
tells you that they got reports on the knee that
we haven't seen yet.

Speaker 2 (01:27:53):
Right, which, by the way, there's been zero update on
Joel's knee. How much, of course, how much would he
help them next year? And well, that's not the point.
Then they're between it.

Speaker 3 (01:28:02):
At some point, Sean, they're gonna have to make a
decision if MBT is relevant or not right, and he's not,
then you've got to take a young center.

Speaker 2 (01:28:09):
At some point. Is all you need to know.

Speaker 4 (01:28:11):
They win sixty six percentator games when twenty one plays,
they win thirty three percentator games when twenty one doesn't play.

Speaker 2 (01:28:19):
It's very, very very simple.

Speaker 4 (01:28:21):
And the other thing, you guys can when are the
Sixers ever going to have a point guard?

Speaker 2 (01:28:28):
Or am I just missing? And I know the point
guard did if Kyle Lew I know the point guard position.

Speaker 4 (01:28:33):
Has changed in the end and it's not what it
was at some point because like you have different point guards,
but they never have a point guard. Yeah, I mean,
Harden was a point guard, but he really isn't he
could actually get assists, he could I'm like, yeah, So, Sean,
let's if if.

Speaker 3 (01:28:51):
In fact they do trade down to eight and get
Cam Johnson, does any of this really mass or if,
to Mike's point, if MBT.

Speaker 6 (01:29:02):
Is not going to be healthy in some way, Yeah,
the short end of that is probably not, to be honest,
And I think that's what people should wrap their head
around here, is regardless of who they taken, the third
pick or who they take in the first round is
not going to make or break their championship outlook, and
it is all dependent on the health. I think like
from the overall perspective for the Sixers, it should be
acknowledged that they've kind of already turned the page on

(01:29:22):
this youth movement. That they have Tyres Magsy, they have
Jared McCain, guys like Justin Edwards, whoever they select with
this third pick, Quentin Grimes, whose the organization has been
very open about retaining, which is kind of interesting because
he's still technically a free agent there. So they have
one hundred million per year committed to Joel and Paul
George for the next three seasons, so you can't exactly
abandon that you're not going to get off those contracts
and you're going to kind of continue rolling with it,

(01:29:44):
but they sort of have already put the wheels in
motion for this next generation of six Ers basketball.

Speaker 3 (01:29:49):
Okay, so they're they're realistic about where they are and
with the knowledge that you can't depend on your superstari realistic.

Speaker 4 (01:29:57):
Your GM just came out and said we're going to
be great next year because everybody's going.

Speaker 2 (01:30:01):
To be healthy. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:30:02):
Well, look, I think what Sean is saying is regardless
of what he's saying behind the scenes, he's telling you that, hey,
we realize that this probably is not going to work,
especially but when you signed George and you gave Joe
the extension, yep, you have said this is how we're rolling.
We may have these young players with them, but these

(01:30:23):
are our two guys. And I'm more concerned with Paul George,
to be honest with you. But when they gave Joe
the extra three years, if this would have been Joe's
last year coming up or I think he would have
maybe one more year after this, I said, okay, walk
away from him after another year.

Speaker 2 (01:30:38):
Now they're stuck with him. Looked like twenty nine.

Speaker 3 (01:30:40):
Yeah, Sean, that's a question. I don't know that it's
ever really been answered. I know it's been asked, what
was the reasoning, if you know, behind the MB extension
at the time of this kid.

Speaker 2 (01:30:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:30:52):
The Darryl morrit response to that is just like, if
the Sixers team is to win a championship, it's going
to happen with Joel Embiat on the roster. It's sort
of the outlook for this and for like Paul George specifically,
like he's very open about he came here to play
with Joelle embiid. So I think the mindset was, like,
correlate those contracts, get them on the same timeline. Looking
back at obviously his age pretty horribly very quickly, and

(01:31:12):
there really wasn't a reason to have to do it.
But it has become sort of standard practice in the
NBA that, like you extend that caliber of star whenever
they're eligible. And I think Darryl Mory is a little
overly sensitive to how he treats stars from a perception standpoint.

Speaker 2 (01:31:27):
Yeah, I mean the whole hardened situation.

Speaker 6 (01:31:31):
Yeah, I think he's sensitive to the perception of him
around the NBA is something that's important to him, and
I think that's kind of something he looked to look
to protect with that showing I'm.

Speaker 2 (01:31:40):
With you, But when his knee goes out Tapioca.

Speaker 4 (01:31:46):
Yeah, and you did it like if they didn't sign
him to that extension before the knee injury.

Speaker 2 (01:31:51):
I get it, I totally get it. But no, he
injured the knee.

Speaker 4 (01:31:56):
He what didn't look like crap in Paris except for
the one game where he had the good game, and
you give.

Speaker 2 (01:32:01):
Him this extension, then he doesn't play.

Speaker 5 (01:32:04):
No, no, no, no, no that they're Darryl Mory said,
he's in his prime window coming up.

Speaker 4 (01:32:09):
Yeah, you really think that Joe? Does anybody right now?
Four think he's playing in game one of the six
er season?

Speaker 2 (01:32:16):
Okay? Is he playing in game ten of the six
er season?

Speaker 3 (01:32:20):
I would sean, I would defer to sell. When when
are we going to see Joe?

Speaker 6 (01:32:25):
The organizational stance is that he should be ready for
Game one like this, The surgery at this point is
two months ago, and that's kind of a six to
eight week recovery timeline for what they have for that,
So theoretically he should be ready.

Speaker 2 (01:32:38):
Whether that actually happens, we will say, okay, well, hey,
look maybe maybe they're right.

Speaker 4 (01:32:42):
Maybe he will be out there for Game one and
then in game twenty five, we're gonna find out that
he did, you know, back and the whole plan is
to get a guy who can't stay healthy to the
playoffs and then have him played twenty five games in
two months.

Speaker 2 (01:32:56):
It's absurd. It's absurd.

Speaker 6 (01:33:00):
Like, from my perspective, what's more important is, like, regardless
of the availability, is what does he actually look like
out there?

Speaker 2 (01:33:06):
Like can he cut? Can he jump the job?

Speaker 6 (01:33:08):
Like what was the biggest concern to me last year
is what's been true throughout Joelle's entire career is regardless
of the other four guys around him, you're gonna have
a top end defense if he's anchoring things. And that
wasn't the case last year that he wasn't capable of
doing that the correct Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:33:21):
It was sad to watch actually, So that like that's
what my eyes on once the games actually do start up.

Speaker 3 (01:33:27):
Yeah, so he's a jump shooter. Yeah, well, I mean
he's been that for a while. Yes, So the top
of the draft, Cooper Flagg goes to.

Speaker 2 (01:33:34):
Dallas and has Harper definitely gone to San Antonio or
is there any more discussions there.

Speaker 6 (01:33:39):
I think there's a world where they trade out of
the pick. And another team grabs him. I honestly don't
love san Antonio. Is like a spot for him with
the Aaron Fox and Stefan Castle already there.

Speaker 2 (01:33:48):
But I think, yeah, one way or another, I think
Harper will be the second pick, okay, and then san
Antonio might try their close. Do we think they're getting
in the Durant sweepstakes or be honest? The interesting one
to make. Did they have a lot to give? Can
they give a lot give us to get a second
pick of the draft? Yeah? I mean I didn't know
what like what Hey?

Speaker 4 (01:34:08):
The thing to me with san Antonio's and I don't
mean to be I want to know that wem Beyon
is going to be like I mean, this guy had
blood clots and it ended the guy on Miami's career,
Chris Bosh And again, I think this guy's going to
be the face of the NBA in two three years.

Speaker 2 (01:34:24):
You talk about Anna all you want and Sga.

Speaker 4 (01:34:26):
Sga is great, he's good, But when Byana what he
does on the court, are you kidding me?

Speaker 2 (01:34:32):
If you said you can have any player in basketball,
everybody's taken out. I'm not taking Jill.

Speaker 6 (01:34:38):
Yeah, And if I was in the driver's seat for
making that decision. I'm trying to put together a Jianna's
package because Giannis and Wemby on the court together would
be something special.

Speaker 4 (01:34:46):
Who else is going to go for Gianni's So, I
mean a lot of teams could potentially you gotta have.

Speaker 6 (01:34:51):
Enough to give him Milwaukee though, right, Yeah, the Knicks
have popped up is like the trendy name. I just
don't really see a package that they can put together
that can be competitive. Houston in order to Lando are
sort of built to put together a pretty intriguing package.

Speaker 2 (01:35:03):
Yeah, Toronto as well is in the mix. Miami doesn't
have enough give right. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:35:07):
Everyone throws them out there as like a landing spot,
but like when you look at what an actual trade
would look like, they just don't really have.

Speaker 4 (01:35:12):
The Milwaukee wants lots of draft picks. Is that what
they're looking for? Do they want players or.

Speaker 2 (01:35:18):
Are they going to go into a rebuild? I guess
they assuming you are.

Speaker 6 (01:35:22):
Yeah, they kind of are, but they also have pretty
much flipped a ton of their first round capitol already,
so you kind of need players in return.

Speaker 2 (01:35:29):
Yeah, they only have like one first round pick in
the next six.

Speaker 6 (01:35:32):
Years, right, so like it doesn't make a ton of
sense to just full rebuild because you don't have your
own picks.

Speaker 3 (01:35:37):
All right, So Sean, let's talk nicks. Uh, what was
your level of surprise when the coach got blown off
the other by?

Speaker 6 (01:35:43):
Fairly high to be honest, Like, I think there's a
lot of cooks in the kitchen out there in New York.
When I'm talking about the decision makers for there, I
think they kind of assessed that Tom Thibodeau can be
this foundational piece, the guy that'll get you there, but
they need like a championship winning head coach, like sort
of like the Mark Jackson Steve kind of comparison in
Golden State is like the mindset there. I think Thim's

(01:36:03):
got kind of a rough hand here. You can't ask
for him to perform any better and get better results
than what he did. It was the best season the
franchise has had in twenty five years, So I am
kind of surprised they went that direction, But I guess
like the thought process is that that, like they need
a guy to truly get them over the edge. And
there's certainly things you can nitpick from, like how their
offense was run, and how much of it was just
Jalen Brunson go figure it out out there.

Speaker 3 (01:36:25):
Yeah, I'm interested in what their analytics department is and
how much of a factor that is if they Yeah,
I don't know what what's their analytics people do?

Speaker 2 (01:36:35):
They are they big into that up there, Sean if you.

Speaker 6 (01:36:37):
Know, I don't believe so, to be honest, there's a
lot of like it's a very relationship based kind of organization.
The CAAA ties from an agency standpoint are super high.
Leon Rose tied in the mix and everything with that.
So I think it has more to do with kind
of the relationship side of things and all that than analytics.
But like I mean, like the damning number to me
is in that the Eastern Conference finals in which they
are eliminated with Karl Anthony Towns Jalen Brunson on the

(01:36:59):
floor or negative six point nine net rating.

Speaker 2 (01:37:02):
You can't really have that with your two best players
because Rick Pitch I don't know enough about. I don't
know they're all tied together, but he's not Rick. I
would be.

Speaker 4 (01:37:12):
Jason Kidd was an interesting name because he's still got
two years left on his Houston contractor.

Speaker 2 (01:37:17):
Dallas I would be totally guessing, but he's just just
about to get Cooper Fleck think he might be interesting.
Yeah that's true. Why would Yeah right, that's a pretty
good deal. Maybe he wants to go back to New York.

Speaker 4 (01:37:27):
I don't think before we run out of time, just
you know, we don't forget to give me you like
in the Belmont because we didn't really know any.

Speaker 3 (01:37:35):
One more NBA for you Sean, Uh do you when
you watch the Pacers, what are you thinking when this
keeps happening time after time after time.

Speaker 2 (01:37:47):
Yeah, they just don't quit.

Speaker 6 (01:37:48):
They they will not roll over for forty eight minutes
there and they continue giving you giving themselves a chance there.
So that was a pretty miraculous winning game one. It
was like, it is crazy that they just continue to
do this. But I think like what we're the takeaway
from this is the NBA has very much swung from
this build around stars have the that this to have depth,
have guys that can all play that you're not relying

(01:38:09):
on one specific blueprint to win basketball games.

Speaker 2 (01:38:11):
And that's kind of the effects that we're seeing. So
it is real.

Speaker 6 (01:38:14):
They're better than people have given them credit. It's cool
that there is kind of this team concept and more
like traditional basketball like plays being run rather than so
much just star isolation stuff.

Speaker 2 (01:38:23):
They deserve more credit than they've been given. I feel
I agree.

Speaker 3 (01:38:28):
So on to horse racing, the third leg of the
triple from today in Saratoga Springs. I'm looking at the weather,
sixty five degrees, one hundred percent chance of rain, not
good at eleven am, eighty chance, sixty chance. At two pm,
the rain stops, the sun comes out. I don't see

(01:38:49):
how they're going to have a fast track for the
Belmont Stakes, which goes off a little after seven pm,
So it'll be like the Derby sloppy mess. Races are
supposed to be on the grass. They're taking them off.

Speaker 2 (01:39:03):
Uh oh, the race is supposed to be on grass.
Now the racist other races are the other races. I'm sorry.

Speaker 1 (01:39:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:39:10):
In fact, my my play of the day was Deterministic
in race twelve, which is the Manhattan into Journalism in
the Belmont, which is a five to seven double. But
I don't even know if I like deterministic because it's
gonna be a bog now.

Speaker 2 (01:39:25):
I wanted him to be on a firm turf course
where we could get out in the front. Just go Now,
I don't obviously that they don't have domes. In racing.
You're play indoors and there's no no domes, no domes.
No disappointing, but no domes. It's just it's I was thinking,
I had two thoughts. The only two by gotta be
who's the horse or Bafford to the front.

Speaker 4 (01:39:50):
You said to me, you said, Mike, if you get
to the front and the mud and Bafford's gonna tell
his guy, right, here's your here's your Mike Smith's very good.

Speaker 2 (01:39:59):
Well, all these guys pretty good. Uh, and get journalism
to the outside.

Speaker 4 (01:40:03):
Yeah, please stay he's starting into seven so even even
my man restfully shouldn't be able to mess this up.

Speaker 3 (01:40:09):
Just stay out there. So we got Hill Road the
one sovereignty the derby winner. I'm against for a variety
of reasons, one including the fact that they didn't run
in the Preakness.

Speaker 2 (01:40:19):
I don't like them already owned.

Speaker 4 (01:40:20):
But that was that an advantage for him, probably is,
but owned by the sheikhs from Dubai. Hard to root
for the back crowd. Uh, live golf, Yeah, that's saudy,
but the same area. General Rodriguez, the three. That's Paffer
probably be on the lead. Uncaged is owned by Micropoli,

(01:40:43):
who's the guy who finances Saint John's basketball.

Speaker 2 (01:40:46):
Yes, he has no chance. I know Patino will be
rooting for and Rick will be rooting.

Speaker 3 (01:40:51):
For whoever he better, that's uh, and he won't be
on Caged. H Frudo is the five trained by Todd Pletcher.
Also speed Baeza is named for a famous jockey, Are
you aware of them? Bralio Bayes, legendary guy back in
the sixties and seventies? Will he like con Smythe very
similar journalism was named for a profession that once existed.

Speaker 2 (01:41:15):
That's a good that's a very good for it still does. Yeah,
not really.

Speaker 3 (01:41:19):
Eight Heart of Honor ridden by the daughter of the
trainer from England, Sappy Osborne.

Speaker 4 (01:41:27):
Now could the five hour screw Backford trying to get
out through your front with him and Crudo and Rodriguez.

Speaker 2 (01:41:33):
That'll be the thing to watch at the beginning of
the race, the three and the five battling.

Speaker 4 (01:41:37):
It was not food as well for closers because it's
going to be just kind of slopping.

Speaker 3 (01:41:42):
Who knows watched the earlier races, But I just wish
it was a fast track. That was the cool thing
about Pemlico wasn't actually a fast track. The derby was
a mess.

Speaker 2 (01:41:50):
But that's the problem. You hold it in Upstate New
York at race there, like every fifties.

Speaker 4 (01:41:55):
Dude, I would like to see, just from a fan standpoint,
I want to see sovereignty and journalism.

Speaker 2 (01:42:00):
Who could appen the last? Yeah, that's what I want,
because well, just it just had this jockey irritates me. Yeah,
I can see that. I wish. I wish my Man
Pratt was on journalism.

Speaker 4 (01:42:11):
I would bet with utmost journalism is the favorite, slightly
over sovereignty.

Speaker 2 (01:42:17):
You know, it's interesting. I think journalism will go favored.
Let's see what we got. Let me can look here,
see what we got? Pull it up? Just yeah, get
on Google google it.

Speaker 1 (01:42:27):
Do you do?

Speaker 2 (01:42:27):
You have an exactly? And if I don't, I'm gonna
play the double.

Speaker 3 (01:42:31):
Okay, let's see Belmont Steaks Hill Road is fourteen to one,
Sovereignty is seven to two, Rodriguez seven to one on
Cage nineteen, he should be ninety one, Crudo twelve, Baeza
seven to two, Journalism seven to five.

Speaker 2 (01:42:48):
Big favorite at the moment.

Speaker 4 (01:42:49):
But as is almost sovereign nineties, almost with sovereignty close.
I mean that, yeah, did at the same price. Just
kind of surprise it. Let me see how much money
has been better at this point? Hold up, Oh, there's
two million in the wind pull, all right, a lot
for that's a lot. I mean there'll be tons more,

(01:43:10):
but that's substantial. What is a Bafford's horse again? How
much is it Rodriguez? He's seven to one. That's low,
isn't it relatively Speaking's about what he figured?

Speaker 2 (01:43:22):
Oh? Okay, okay, it's Bafford. Yeah, that's true. He gets
bet on.

Speaker 3 (01:43:27):
But yeah, and again this race is at Saratoga because
Belmont Park is being I don't know about halfway finished.
They started tearing it down last spring spring.

Speaker 2 (01:43:39):
Of twenty twenty four, and the hope is it'll be
opened by the fall of twenty twenty six, and then
the Belmont Stakes will be back on Long Island in
the summer of twenty twenty seven. It's speaking of horse racing.

Speaker 3 (01:43:52):
Next Sunday across the parking lot, he had Parks Father's Day.
We have the National Thirdbred League. It's like a group
go from track to track where trying to have like
local teams and stuff, and he Philadelphia team will be
represented by you mentioned him earlier, Doctor Jay.

Speaker 2 (01:44:09):
Julie's will be at Parks. Fuck he was last year,
doctor Sean. If you're in, if you're in the neighborhood path,
come on out, well hang out at a hang out
at Parks next Sunday.

Speaker 5 (01:44:19):
All right, I'm gonna have to and see if doctor
J has an update on Joel's knees.

Speaker 2 (01:44:23):
Yes, Doctor J might have some insights for you, Sean.

Speaker 6 (01:44:25):
You never know.

Speaker 2 (01:44:26):
I've got an update on Joe's knees. They're not good.
They're tappy.

Speaker 4 (01:44:29):
Okay, I mean, look, I root for him, I hope,
but there's no way on God's green Earth that he's
gonna play and not get to a game in January
and be like holding the knee or like.

Speaker 2 (01:44:40):
Let you know whatever.

Speaker 4 (01:44:41):
And then they're saying, well, we're gonna sit him for
a couple of games to get okay, fine, and then
he's gonna come back and you'll have it. You'll have
a forty point game. Yeah, you know he will. He'll
have a couple into the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (01:44:51):
Be winded. Maybe they're to force seen in the East
next almost like we've done this before.

Speaker 6 (01:44:57):
By the way, one storyline that I haven't seen kind
of I think enough buzzes. The Sixers have clean house
with pretty much all their medical, pr and communications staff
this offseason.

Speaker 2 (01:45:07):
I saw that. Interesting, So everybody's gone, so they gotta
blame this on somebody. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:45:11):
I think the takeaway was a lot got off, a
lot got out last year that probably shouldn't have and
there are a lot of decisions made that maybe should
not have been and we're not sorting through who the
issue is and starting over.

Speaker 2 (01:45:21):
You know who's a fall interesting?

Speaker 4 (01:45:22):
You know Jonathan Kaminga because he fell on his knee.
I mean, Jesus, what what is it? And then he
played in the Olympics last year when you shouldn't have
been playing. I get it, you want to win a
gold medal. But if he and I don't know if
his new would have been any better.

Speaker 2 (01:45:37):
If he'd not done that, something else would have happened.
It's just and that's the final word. The final word
is pulled. Two words. There's two words, Darryl Moore, there's
another two words.

Speaker 3 (01:45:51):
You've been listening to sports here and there and everywhere.
We will be setting broadcasting all by rooting for in
the Belmont.

Speaker 1 (01:45:58):
For you.

Speaker 3 (01:45:59):
Okay, I don't know how I'm bet at yet I
disliked that it's a sloppy track. We've been broadcasting a
lot from the Parks Casino, sports Picker's Books sports Book
in Ben Salem, brought to you exclusively by the Bet
Parks Casino and sportsbook app or odds, betslots and games
all come together right in.

Speaker 2 (01:46:16):
Your pocket, sports book and casino in one a. I've
got to Betparks dot com.

Speaker 3 (01:46:21):
The only app I recommend must be twenty one and
in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio or Michigan. Gambling Problem
one eight hundred Gambler for Mike and Kyle. I am
Dick Girardi and thanks to Seawan Beck in the studio.

Speaker 2 (01:46:35):
We will talk to you all next week, and we'll
talk to Mike Kern from the Rhine River in Germany.
We'll be back in a week
