Mike.
Speaker 3 (00:57):
Welcome back back from Europe, back from COVID, and back
in mid July.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
Are you well? You are right?
Speaker 4 (01:04):
Third funeral in two weeks last night, the other two
I had to miss because of COVID. I've never ever
if I go to one funeral year. Maybe it's just
I couldn't find this place today. I was lost for a.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
Drive work parks.
Speaker 4 (01:21):
I was driving around Ben Salem and I you know,
street road, big building, lots of lights.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
Yes, in the casino. We're right outside at home. Almost
three weeks from Europe, I know, and that's but you're
back and we're happy to have you.
Speaker 3 (01:36):
Kyle not Amaker here as well. John Jansen is going
to call it at nine to thirty.
Speaker 5 (01:41):
We are we need some July baseball.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:44):
We got Mike Carr on the Scottish Open at the
top of the hour and the good news is, even
though they've already started play, the top ten guys will
not start until about ten am, so Mike will give
you his thoughts on the final tour event. Is that
a PJA Tour event? The Scottish Up final Tour event
before the Open Championship next the next weekend at Royal
(02:06):
Port Rush in Northern Nile.
Speaker 4 (02:08):
If anybody wants to check out part of where I
was at in Europe. The Avian Avion Championships being played
this week to women.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
It's a major attendant. Well, it's on Lake Geneva.
Speaker 4 (02:21):
And it's so it's basically the same view we have.
I knew a person years and years ago who covered
that on She said it was the nicest venue for anything.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
She ever didn't right, you didn't play the course.
Speaker 4 (02:34):
I wasn't at I mean we were near there, we were,
but again it was the same basic Switzerland Lake.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
So a couple of general thoughts as we get started there.
The Phillies for people didn't stay up like last night,
lost four too in San Diego. They've lost three or
four on the road trip, and a couple in like
not great fashion. They're wasting some of the greatest run
of starting pitching in modern baseball history. They're fifty four
and forty game ahead of the Mets, but they're only
(03:02):
if you go down there are three games ahead of
San Diego for what would be the last wild card spot.
So nothing's been there style cards correct, nothing that's incredible.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
So nothing's been decided at this point.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
And this starting pitching they should have and I'm being
conservative here sixty wins instead of fifty four.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
I mean, this starting pitching has been incredible.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
Ranger last night gave up like an infield hit, a
bunt and the next thing you know, they got three
runs and then they got nothing else off of them.
But they just couldn't score. And they had the bases
loaded one out. In the top of the eighth, Castianos
hid a nothing right in front of the plate and Kapler, Kepler.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
He swung it ball. He swung the ball. Four he did. Yeah,
they both, Yeah, he does that.
Speaker 5 (03:46):
A lot of Philly swinging at a pitch outside of
the zone.
Speaker 3 (03:49):
Yeah, And it was interesting. It was so it was
three to two at the time. Sant Helo got a
home run on the bottom of the to make it four.
Had a decision at third base whether.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
To send u Turner tree Turner.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
Thank you Trey Turner, whether they said tray Turner or
not in the top of the eighth, and the decision
was with one out, with two guys coming up to
let him go, and man, I probably send him there.
I think he makes it about nine times out of ten.
And you do you really want to trust Castianos and
Cantler to get a hit.
Speaker 4 (04:23):
But see, you can't play baseball like that if you're
as good as the Phillies. Now understood, because what you're
saying is probably true. But you can't because if you
get thrown out at the plate, you've it's you know
what the Phillies are, and it's and it's funny because
in twenty eleven, everybody compares this pitching the twenty eleven
Why they lose in twenty eleven because they couldn't hit, right, Yeah, okay,
(04:44):
why they lost the last three years because they couldn't hit.
Speaker 2 (04:47):
But the it's hard to hit.
Speaker 3 (04:50):
Having said that like two fifties a could average at base,
that's true, but it's harder.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
To hit than This is what the Phillies are.
Speaker 4 (04:56):
Every game, and I mean every game is three to two,
two to one, and then once a week, every week
and a half they Winny loving and exactly.
Speaker 5 (05:04):
But then you know for a fact the game afterward
it's gonna be a three two two one. Like it's
just who they are, it's how they they've been constructed
and how they've played the last three years and until
they do something miraculous at the at the trade deadline,
I said, I don't go into the playoffs with a
sense of confidence that I you know, right, so that
(05:25):
that I'm gonna spark after they've been doing the same
thing the last couple of years.
Speaker 3 (05:28):
Right, So the lineup at this point is basically trade
Turner is a single and doubles hitter.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
Yeah, as his bone, you know, and they've both been both's.
Speaker 3 (05:36):
Been pretty solid at it. Turner obviously hanging around three hundred.
Harper's had the good night the other night, but really
has not looked like himself essentially all season.
Speaker 2 (05:44):
Shorter's been great.
Speaker 3 (05:46):
Other than that, there's not a single person you could
depend on the hit, not anybody.
Speaker 2 (05:51):
Not home runs for sure, I mean not even they're
just do you too?
Speaker 5 (05:54):
Funny? Because the guy anybody else, the guys that you
do have confidence to get on base and get base hits.
And what does it matter if they're wrong bats? When
you can't knock him in right unless you're hitting home
runs right, Nobody can hit a home run consistently except
for Swarm.
Speaker 2 (06:07):
Right on, don't you get past the top four or five?
You're just going, why does anybody ever pitch the swarp?
Why with people?
Speaker 4 (06:13):
I'm serious, like they used to do that with Barry
And look, he's not Barry Bonds.
Speaker 2 (06:17):
I get that Swar. I wouldn't throw him a pitch
that he could hit well. Right now.
Speaker 3 (06:22):
The reason he's getting pitches dead is because Harper's behind him,
and Harper is still he's got a rep.
Speaker 2 (06:28):
The reality is not the same that one game and man, look,
maybe that one game is a good signal that but
I don't think so. N nice you wonder you're starting
to wonder. Fair state.
Speaker 4 (06:38):
Lot of Miley joined that boy and he's been dealing
with this now for a year and a half.
Speaker 2 (06:42):
Yeah, no doubt pretty much.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
Yeah so anyway, the failures are not guaranteed of anything
at this stage, despite having phenomenal pitching. Zach Wheeler goes tonight.
It's at seven thirty four to thirty. West Coasts matter.
Uh and Wheeler has been awesome. He passed on the
All Star Game. Great, good for other Suarez apparently, Yeah,
that's fine. You could you get ready for the second half.
(07:04):
They're gonna need all of them.
Speaker 6 (07:05):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (07:06):
And Suarez makes sense because he's a free agent. He's
playing for money. All Star Games not helping.
Speaker 5 (07:11):
Him any on the home run Derby because.
Speaker 2 (07:15):
Five he messed the way I have the home run
Derby odds. So we'll get it. We got a bunch
of odds, Michel.
Speaker 3 (07:22):
Uh So a couple of thoughts Wheeler tonight against you
darbish for those interested in San Diego and Wheeler, I mean,
I was a little surprised at this. He's only minus
one fifty seven at bet Park's UH minus one and
a half runs for the Phillies plus one fourteen.
Speaker 2 (07:42):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (07:43):
I was at bet Park's very surprised at that they
need to start winning some games.
Speaker 2 (07:48):
World Series odds.
Speaker 3 (07:50):
The Dodgers have lost seven in a row and they're
only plus two fifteen. They're still a heavy favorite. UH
the Yankees and Detroit or plus six fifty. The Phillies
are next at plus eight fifty eight and a half
to one.
Speaker 2 (08:03):
Atlanta seventy five to one. I don't know. Atlanta could
be seven hundred and fifty to one. Couldn't agree more.
Speaker 3 (08:08):
My Orioles are down from two fifty to two hundred.
Remember I bet him at two fifty. I bet him
at one fifty to win the American League. They're down
to one hundred. For the people that have not been
paying attention to which I would not be one of them.
They've won six of seven and the only loss they
had the Mets beat the other night six to two
in the eighth and a man Brian Baker Mike Kerr
(08:30):
came into the game at.
Speaker 2 (08:31):
The top of the eighth. Alls.
Speaker 3 (08:32):
You got to do is get three outs of the
games over because they're bringing in the closer and they're
not getting any runs off them, and he proceeds to
give up four runs without but getting an out, and
two days later he was traded at the Tampa bet
So where he blew a saved for them, or blew
a game to them in Boston.
Speaker 2 (08:47):
Oriols twenty four and fourteen.
Speaker 3 (08:49):
After starting the season nineteen and thirty six, they're now
six games out of the wild card. I just did
this this morning. If they can continue to play at
six thirty two pace, they'll finish the season at eighty
eight and seventy six and will be easily in the
wild card, and I will.
Speaker 2 (09:06):
Be alive for all the money like Diegles twenty one
in zero or twenty in zero, whatever, I'm six behind.
I got a shot, Oh you got a shot. Sure,
I have a real shot at this.
Speaker 4 (09:19):
You know that Dodgers have had fifteen pitchers on the
al It's crazy fifteen.
Speaker 2 (09:26):
Yeah, with that lineup, that's the reason they're struggling.
Speaker 4 (09:29):
But what you're well, this is where I'm having trouble
understanding because I'm listening to the radio. Yesha, wait whatever,
So Wheelers not going to He's going to fly back
to Atlanta because that's where he lives. He just had
a baby. Parent, they had a child, Okay, and wow,
this is great. He's really going to get what is
going to an All Star Game. Let's say Suarez went
to the All Star Game just soaked into festivities, maybe
(09:52):
throsen in. What is him not doing that going to
mean for his second half of the year when we're
talking nothing, nothing but people. So go to the All
Star Game. Man, you got you're having this three year
he invited. There was a story today that the National
League reached out to him because everybody was saying, Suarez
just pitching Friday. He can't go well.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
Where always pitching the night?
Speaker 4 (10:14):
What is the difference You're going to throw one inning
or you don't even.
Speaker 2 (10:17):
Have to throw, just show up and enjoy the day.
I don't get this, Mike.
Speaker 3 (10:22):
What's happening is back in the day, obviously that was
a huge thing. And by the way, for the people
that don't know, the All Star Game is here next year.
Speaker 2 (10:28):
Yes, we did everything next year.
Speaker 5 (10:30):
South that's why they're not going because they want to
rest their arms right next year.
Speaker 3 (10:33):
Right, So, but agents are running the world, and again, sure, agent,
I'm sure is telling him, My man, you are looking
at a payday. Do rest, get ready for the second half.
Don't go to the All Star Game. They control the world.
I understand. I just don't when they say rest, I
don't get all right, Mike, I'm You're not wrong. I'm
just telling you I ain't going down and throw. So
(10:57):
a couple of other thoughts. At anybody heard of Seattle
catcher cal Raley before, like.
Speaker 2 (11:04):
Two weeks ago?
Speaker 5 (11:05):
No, any people are away now?
Speaker 2 (11:08):
Is thirty eight home runs?
Speaker 3 (11:11):
The most ever was the star pest was Barry Ponds
thirty nine in two thousand and one.
Speaker 2 (11:18):
Sir, what was a Johnny Bench owned the record for
catchers or just Piazza go past it? One of those
two pitchers catchers in the season.
Speaker 4 (11:26):
Thought I thought it was Johnny Bench for a while,
but Baza might have evoked.
Speaker 3 (11:30):
But anyway, cal Rolly for the Seattle Mariners had to
last night, including one off Trek Schooblow.
Speaker 2 (11:38):
They ran off or got him out the game last
night and Detroit.
Speaker 5 (11:41):
Beat him to his credit. I mean in the last
three years thirty four homers, thirty and twenty seven.
Speaker 2 (11:45):
I mean, it's not like he's been not been a
good player, but he's.
Speaker 5 (11:48):
A career two twenty hitter.
Speaker 6 (11:49):
Right.
Speaker 2 (11:49):
This is a bit much this year, but the biggest
news of all in my opinion. Now, I just looked
up the odds to win the last Vegas Summer League
Kyle Oh Jesus tied at one hundred.
Speaker 3 (12:06):
And fifty to one, or Brooklyn, Charlotte, Denver, Orlando, and
you're a feladof for seventy So wow?
Speaker 2 (12:16):
Whose number one pick? VJ.
Speaker 3 (12:19):
Edgecomb looked very good in his debut which was also
apparently his naley in the Las Vegas Summer League as
sean he he hurt what and it became what?
Speaker 2 (12:32):
And now what?
Speaker 7 (12:33):
Ye had started as a thumb contusion then was upgraded
or changed the label to a thumb spring, and then
Darryl Mory spoke to the media yesterday and referred to
it as a wrist issue. So I don't know if
this is traveling, if it was misdiagnosed, or what the
deal is, but just another sixties example here.
Speaker 5 (12:48):
Now it's a knee issue. Yeah, who knows?
Speaker 2 (12:51):
He spread to his knee. Yeh, from his thumb to
his wrist of his knee. And these things do happen
to the Sixers.
Speaker 3 (12:56):
But yeah, there are one hundred and fifty to one
to win the Las Vegas the favorite, Kyle, I know
you're interested in this is Toronto at three and a
half the way people and tonight the Sixers might are
you into this against Charlotte? They're four and a half
point talks. My care level about this is somewhere subterranean.
If they don't win this game, I love I love that.
Speaker 2 (13:18):
It's that. Why do I care about this? I'm just
telling you. I'm talking about the facts.
Speaker 3 (13:25):
Man.
Speaker 2 (13:25):
You know why these people have no lives and they
have to figure out like I guess. I mean, did
you imagine sitting.
Speaker 3 (13:32):
In front of a TV for like two two and
a half hours. I got the six Ers PU four
and a half. Yeah, and you're looking for seventy the
other in a league where probably nobody's playing deep. Charlotte
has Canipple. Who else they got Liam mcneally Is he
on Charlotte?
Speaker 2 (13:48):
Yes?
Speaker 5 (13:48):
He is? Ryan Kulkbrenner on there.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
Uh, I'm taking Charlotte minus the a half?
Speaker 5 (13:53):
Who who and who?
Speaker 2 (13:55):
When they start playing in November wake me up ven
or whenever it is. They usually late October, but they
actually start that early.
Speaker 4 (14:04):
Okay, and Sala Salvador Perez of the twy forty eight
homers I.
Speaker 3 (14:10):
Totally forgot about. But Johnny Bench had the record before that,
so al wild card again for people interested in such things.
The Yankees Boston, by the way, is one eight in
a row, putting a walk off home run last night
to beat Tampa Bay.
Speaker 2 (14:26):
Tampa Bay.
Speaker 3 (14:26):
Seattle's half game out National League Milwaukee Mets, San Francisco
San Diego is a half game.
Speaker 2 (14:33):
I think the.
Speaker 4 (14:34):
Yankees are the most overrated team in baseball. That's just
my take on it. They're good, but they they made
the World Series last year. I get it for the
first time in however, nine I guess, but they're not
that good.
Speaker 2 (14:49):
I don't think.
Speaker 5 (14:50):
I think they have huge pitching issues.
Speaker 2 (14:52):
Yeah, and I mean uh, and they're going to get
in the playoffs and the pressure is going to be
on them because they're New York and somebody Texas will
beat them or somebody will beat them.
Speaker 4 (15:01):
I don't think the American League is all that. But
that's why you're baldymore bet. I mean, if get me
in the playoffs, I'll tell you what would aybody would
have play the Red Sox right now. If they were
but two weeks from now, they could be your team
could be the Red Sox.
Speaker 2 (15:14):
Correct. So Wimbledon, Oh yeah, ladies, final is good about
the start. I believe.
Speaker 3 (15:22):
A young girl from New Jersey, from Freehold is against
Swipe Deck.
Speaker 2 (15:29):
I believe yes. And she has a Russian name, Russian parents,
but was born here in America. I watched her beat
them the number one seed yesterday. I watched the end
of it. It was pretty pretty good. But the men
tomorrow Alcarez Center.
Speaker 3 (15:45):
It can't be any better, obviously than the French Open final,
which is legendary Alcaaz minus one thirty at bet Park
Center plus one five. You're talking about a twenty two
year old Spaniard versus a twenty three year old Italian
the two best.
Speaker 2 (15:59):
Players in the world now, obviously, But Sinners should have
lost in the three.
Speaker 3 (16:05):
Yeah, he was down, he was done, and the guy
had the default for injury, he'd have been out.
Speaker 2 (16:09):
He'd been out the tournament.
Speaker 3 (16:11):
Yeah, and Yokovic was obviously hurting yesterday and old bad
accommodation he got he got knocked out.
Speaker 2 (16:16):
That sounds like the Sixers. Yeah, there you go.
Speaker 3 (16:18):
Alcaaz is five and zero and Grand Slam finals. For
those interested, I think he's going for his third straight
Wimbledon and he is center.
Speaker 2 (16:25):
I believe he has won three Grand Slam titles at
the sixth sounds right, so that that's a big deal
tomorrow morning. Do you know the guys who've won three
Wimbledon's in a row?
Speaker 4 (16:37):
Borg samprused, Federer won eight, and there's one other pe
might have.
Speaker 2 (16:47):
He might have, Yeah, he might have.
Speaker 4 (16:49):
But that's a pretty that's, you know, for twenty two
year old guy to kind of join that list a
couple other.
Speaker 2 (16:55):
I'm gonna sellow the general stuff beat then we'll drill
down on everything.
Speaker 4 (16:57):
Here.
Speaker 2 (16:58):
We got Jackson the nine thirty Curnl Golf at ten.
Speaker 3 (17:03):
Super Bowl is February the fifteenth. At this moment, your
Philadelphia is it this year?
Speaker 2 (17:08):
Where we hold? Where we holding the Super Bowl? The
answer that question?
Speaker 3 (17:12):
At the it's not New Orleans because that's where it
was last right, Your Philadelphia Eagles might are the favorites
at bet Park six and a half to one.
Speaker 2 (17:22):
In the whole league to worship. Why not win it?
Speaker 6 (17:24):
All?
Speaker 3 (17:25):
Right? This is a little surprising to me. Who do
you think this second favorite is Balti Ball at seven.
Also Buffalo, that's wrong, Buffalo at seven, Kansas City at
seven and a half, Detroit at nine, and then you
go all the way up to San Francisco at sixteen
because anybody looked in San Francisco. Okay, Oh it's in Okay, Okay,
(17:48):
I think the last time. It's been a while, and
I think so, look at Buffalo's schedule. Explain to me
how they won the division like four ship.
Speaker 2 (17:56):
Their schedule is so easy for a team interest so
they should be unless they screw up or they get injured,
they probably shouldn't have top seeld So why would I
take the Ravens and look, I like the Ravens.
Speaker 4 (18:08):
If the Ravens could have beat them last year? Right,
they dropped the pass at the end and had the
fumble at midfield like right?
Speaker 2 (18:15):
Okay? But lamar to me is that and look, neither
of those quarterbacks have gotten over to Hume.
Speaker 4 (18:20):
But mostly the reason the buffaloizing I over home because
they lose the Kansas City Ravens have just lost the
people that they shouldn't lose to them, and that bothers me.
Speaker 2 (18:30):
I understand.
Speaker 6 (18:31):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (18:32):
Eagles minus one fifty seven to win the NFC East.
Michael Now point out that twenty one see no teams
won the NFC East two years in a row.
Speaker 4 (18:41):
I get your philosophy that that has nothing to do
with nothing two years ago when the Eagles with five
games to go, they couldn't lose the division.
Speaker 2 (18:49):
And they did, and they did so again.
Speaker 4 (18:51):
I actually think, and I'm not I don't know what
to make of Washington because it could go, you know,
they could. I don't think it's a one year thing,
more slump, but loot. I think Dallas is going to
win games. I'm not saying they're won to the super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (19:06):
Their quarterback is.
Speaker 4 (19:07):
The last three times their quarterback has played, they've won
eleven and twelve games.
Speaker 3 (19:12):
He's been a good Are they better than the Eagles? No,
but he's been a really good regular season. There's no
argument about that.
Speaker 6 (19:18):
Time.
Speaker 5 (19:19):
He's got weapons to throw to The running games probably
gonna be iffy, but I mean you add George Pickens,
who's a diva. I don't know what their number is,
but he's still a good player.
Speaker 4 (19:28):
They got to play Washington twice in the Eagles twice,
which obviously can be a problem. But if their number
was like nine and a half, and it's probably higher, net,
I think they'll win double digit games.
Speaker 2 (19:39):
All right, So here's the bet. I'm gonna recommend everything.
Speaker 3 (19:41):
Oh uh, So we just said the Eagles are the
favorite for the Super Bowl plus six fifty. Right, so
we're talking six and a half to one. You bet
a dollar you win six dollars set that.
Speaker 2 (19:49):
Actually isn't I know, but there people don't repeats they're
plus three hundred to win the nf six three to one.
Speaker 3 (19:57):
Well, why would you bet that, because if they're in
the super Bowl, right, they've won the NFC, and you're
getting twice the price to win one more game. Yeah yeah,
but I guess that essentially, you know, it's probably gonna
be a pick them game or they might this like, but.
Speaker 4 (20:11):
I guess the theory is and I know they destroyed
Kansas City last year. I get all that, But I
guess the theory is, the Chiefs have been there, the
Chiefs have won three or you know, I.
Speaker 2 (20:21):
Agree with what you're saying.
Speaker 3 (20:22):
I mean, they're basically saying it's double the price right
at bet parks to win one more game. Look, they
may not even win the NFC obviously. But if I'm
betting the two of that, yeah, that's the bet I
would take.
Speaker 2 (20:33):
I would take this.
Speaker 4 (20:34):
And the other thing is if you bet the Super
Bowl bet and they get you could always head your
bet a little bit.
Speaker 2 (20:38):
You can just take the other side.
Speaker 5 (20:40):
Yeah, I'm not gonna I'm not gonna take half the
value to say, well, you know what, I think they're
gonna win the conference but not win the super Bowl,
So might not.
Speaker 2 (20:46):
Just go NFC team that got the back to back
Super Bowls? What Eagles two of the last three, but
not back.
Speaker 4 (20:54):
I don't think San Francisco went back to back. I
could be wrong about camp to do it with Brady No,
because they lost and then they won.
Speaker 3 (21:02):
No, it's a really good question, and I'm just saying no,
it's it's been a while. When the AMC it happens regularly.
When was the last NFC to England?
Speaker 2 (21:10):
Was the regular? Obviously?
Speaker 3 (21:11):
Kansas City has been a regular. It's been a while
like that. It's just just look up super Bowl so
it'll show you. But yeah, I couldn't tell you the
answer to that question because I'll get to work because
nobody get.
Speaker 2 (21:21):
My man, he will definitely get to work.
Speaker 6 (21:23):
That's what I like.
Speaker 5 (21:24):
Green Bay in Super Bowl one and two.
Speaker 3 (21:28):
NFC didn't even exist. Yeah, that was the NFL and
the AFL still back.
Speaker 6 (21:32):
In the back in the day.
Speaker 3 (21:34):
I'll get to work on that. So let's drill down
on Uh it was Seattle. Yeah, that's been twelve years. Yeah,
and they should have won both. They didn't hand the
ball to Marshall on limbs and decided to throw it
it will advised pass at the goal life yep against
the Patriots.
Speaker 4 (21:52):
Uh, stupidest call in football history as far as I'm concerned.
Speaker 2 (21:55):
It's in the hunt. No, I did did the Hunts
over all? Right? So again my orioles, why are they
playing better?
Speaker 6 (22:05):
Like?
Speaker 5 (22:05):
What what is injuries?
Speaker 2 (22:07):
Yeah, guys are back, got back. The lineup has been good.
Speaker 3 (22:09):
Charlie Morton was just awful for the first two months
and he's been back to No.
Speaker 2 (22:13):
He's been great.
Speaker 4 (22:14):
Did the manager make any difference? Yeah, it's completely irrelevant,
uh to me. In baseball for the most part, and
they but they're still waiting.
Speaker 3 (22:23):
They're supposed to get Kyle Bradish back, they're supposed to
get Grayson right, he goes back to two young stud starters.
If they come back like sometime after the All Star
Game and Rushman's been out for a month. The catcher
they're on, they're on their seventh. If they get to
the ninth inning, the game's over. I mean, he's that's
kind of like the Phillies if they get them to
nine Dame to get the games to me. Bist if
(22:46):
you put Romano in, Yeah, he's as close to untouchable.
Speaker 2 (22:51):
I mean you can't. He can't, even says anybody, notice
that stephe is pitching really well?
Speaker 5 (22:57):
Correct he where is he?
Speaker 3 (22:58):
Roy?
Speaker 2 (22:59):
Is he he's a on the all start tear? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (23:01):
No, he says, he really is.
Speaker 6 (23:03):
He is.
Speaker 2 (23:04):
So again, at.
Speaker 3 (23:05):
Twenty four and fourteen, my Oriols have won six of seven.
The analogy that and one of the reasons why I
bet them. Remember where the Mets were after two months
last year? Oh yeah they were. They were like fifth
in twenty two.
Speaker 2 (23:19):
No, I got it. The Rangers, it doesn't matter, get
you just.
Speaker 6 (23:24):
Go get in.
Speaker 5 (23:24):
It's like Washington the year they won.
Speaker 2 (23:26):
That's a total lottery. And I've been I was looking around.
Speaker 3 (23:30):
Let me find somebody that's been playing terrible and their
prices insane, and the prices now come down from one
fifty to one hundred and from two fifty to two hundred. Look,
I'm still a extreme long shot obviously, but we're playing well.
Speaker 2 (23:47):
We have two more with the Marlins, we my squad,
uh and we'll.
Speaker 3 (23:51):
See what happens. But everybody can follow along with the
bent hopefully they'll in it. I just don't want this
idiot general manager to decide to sell Well why don't
I Why don't I sell.
Speaker 2 (24:02):
Baptista to somebody?
Speaker 5 (24:03):
Yeah, unless it's the Phillies.
Speaker 2 (24:05):
Yeah no.
Speaker 5 (24:07):
But it just goes to show, with the exception of
probably hockey doubling down on your bet, when it comes
to the MLB playoffs, it's it's a total craps. That's
why I'm you know, I'm never gonna bet the World
Series favorite.
Speaker 3 (24:20):
Like last year was unusual. You have to do favorites
play the World Series. That just doesn't happen unless it's
like the Phillies And it's just me being a homer.
Speaker 4 (24:28):
This This is going to be the most fascinating trade
deadline I can ever remember, for several reasons. One is
the Phillies might be heavily involved in well, they might
not be.
Speaker 2 (24:41):
You're gonna have. You're going to have ten teams out
there at.
Speaker 4 (24:44):
Least bidding for the same people the Phillies are gonna
be bidding for. And they're gonna be sitting up in
a room trying and decide should we trade this guy
or trade that guy? Who are and who are those people?
And again I mean and this town. And look, they
could go out and make moves and not win the
World Series, there's no They could go out and make
no moves and go far in the playoffs, there's no.
(25:07):
But this town will go nuts if they don't do
what they perceive should be done and this team doesn't win,
and they're.
Speaker 3 (25:15):
Gonna look at it and go really, yeah, what whatever? Uh,
I don't care if it's a rent or a boy.
Apparently they need to find a closer in the worst
possible way. But you can't.
Speaker 2 (25:28):
You can't.
Speaker 5 (25:29):
But I think you cannot put Romano back out.
Speaker 2 (25:31):
But they might need they might need two relievers, of course.
Speaker 3 (25:36):
Well the one at some point Alvarado is gonna come back.
Obviously you can't play the prob but it's fine, but
it's it's helpful. Yeah, that's something to help him get
to them down the stretch. Yeah, maybe if he's I mean,
if he's good when he comes back. We don't know
what he's gonna be. Don't have to get I don't
I don't even know what the rule is. I assume
he can practice at some point.
Speaker 2 (25:55):
Yeah, maybe not with the team and probably not right
it's not getting paid, but I mean there will go
to clear Water and throw.
Speaker 4 (26:01):
The latest was by the guys who cover like the
maball the guys I supposedly know these things and we
all know who they are.
Speaker 2 (26:08):
They more than that. They're they're not looking just to
get a reliever.
Speaker 4 (26:12):
They're looking to get like a two for one or
two guys where they get an outfielder.
Speaker 2 (26:17):
Yes who can play, but any of those.
Speaker 4 (26:19):
But it isn't easy to pull up. And then they're like, well,
we don't want to trade Painter. We don't want to
trade Crawford. We don't want to.
Speaker 5 (26:25):
Trade he's uncomfortable.
Speaker 2 (26:27):
Why don't you give him Kepler?
Speaker 5 (26:28):
Well no, they don't want Kepler like you think Baltimore
will do Kepler for I heard some.
Speaker 2 (26:33):
Trade rumors where they were thrown in marsh Marsh.
Speaker 5 (26:39):
Really, you got to remember the other team meets to
accept this trade too, nobody wants marsh By the way,
uh estebands one e r a twenty five saves for
for like a they're five hundred. Yeah, you know he
did have a two five seven y r right with us.
Speaker 2 (26:57):
He wasn't as horrible as everybody made him sound. Only
wasn't as bad as this guy. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (27:02):
And Hoffman by the way, he's he's above five yr
right now. He just do and he's he's pitch for
the first place to Yeah, in Toronto. It's still a
better Uh, I can't imagine eight if it's not at
last I saw it was in the sevens.
Speaker 4 (27:22):
It's impressed the Phillies have. I'm impressed, not just not
just not just pictures, but position players. They have a
lot of guys you don't trust. I don't trust the
left fielder. I don't trust the center fielder. I don't
even trust the catcher anymore. Like when he's in back
right or the second basement or the third basement. I
mean third basement has been okay. He's I mean, he's
(27:43):
been okay, but I mean the playoffs last year he
was an automatic out. Yeah, he was a lot of
these guys. Brandon Mark, you know he's really slapping the
ball around. But he can't once you once you get passed.
Swer and Turner, tell me who you think I watched
Swarper might be for the game before.
Speaker 2 (28:01):
I guess it was the four hit game. Look, he
looked brutal, sad. It is sad.
Speaker 5 (28:06):
They thought of nothing but her balls. And it's not
even that they're distructing. But I don't put together good
at back. The way he swings, it's a wats been
sure he can hit those fastballs anything like when they're
putting the right spot.
Speaker 2 (28:18):
And he used to be. I mean when he came
up to the plate.
Speaker 3 (28:20):
You were like, Okay, here's a must watch, watch this one.
Like Ryan Howard, you made sure to get in a
room when he was coming up the back of the
game against the Padres he got nine home runs ten
I think I think, yeah, I think it was his ten.
Speaker 4 (28:31):
I know he's been hurt, but man, that game against
the Padres a couple of years ago, in the eighth inning,
when when they didn't bring Hater.
Speaker 2 (28:37):
In, Yeah, I mean, set you knew that ball. I
knew it was going out.
Speaker 3 (28:41):
The guy that closed the game last night, Robert, the
only guy didn't know was the padres man.
Speaker 2 (28:45):
What are you doing? Yeah, you got hater out in
the It's not the same guy that's there now, I
don't think so. You must have gone Melvin's Melvin's minder.
Speaker 5 (28:53):
Now Romano has a seven four to four e r A.
Speaker 2 (28:58):
I think Melvin's in San Francisco show. That's right. He
went to, you're right, you're right, you're right.
Speaker 8 (29:01):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (29:02):
Yeah, it's not the same. It's it's not the same.
Now that was the shield. Is not the guy who
didn't bring hater in it. You didn't think about this.
Speaker 5 (29:09):
That was Melbourne.
Speaker 2 (29:09):
That was he went up the cot. You're the Padres
and you went out and got hater.
Speaker 4 (29:14):
Okay, hundred miles now, Bryce Harper coming out, what you're
up by one?
Speaker 2 (29:21):
Isn't this what you got him for? Do we doing?
Speaker 3 (29:23):
I mean, let's wait till the ninth. That happened in
Philadelphia and he never would have rolled. That's Pete Carroll
not running the ball.
Speaker 4 (29:31):
But what was his rash was like I was saving
him for the ninth anything, No, dude, the game is
on the line right now.
Speaker 2 (29:36):
Rice hot Harper, he was on a roll. One of
the dumber moves.
Speaker 5 (29:42):
No, we want to save him to go up against
Marsh Boom and that and stop.
Speaker 2 (29:46):
The automatic over the order.
Speaker 3 (29:48):

any football thoughts? Six Ers Las Vegas Summers Summer League.
You can bet them, John, there, they're one hundred and
fifty to one to win it.
Speaker 6 (31:58):
You're fifty one. Those are enticing.
Speaker 5 (32:00):
I'll tell you that's what I want to get I
want to get John's overall thoughts on the Phillies because
I know I've been someone that's not getting too high,
not getting too low John. I know when they were,
you know, in first plays, playing really well, he was
really high on him. And now that they're struggling, I
want to see if anything has changed and if there's
anything alarming that you're seeing.
Speaker 6 (32:22):
Yeah, well, struggling, like I guess, yes, but also they're
a game or two back from the top of the
National League, So it's it's struggling, but like it's struggling
when we look at the bigger picture playoffs, it's we
see things that aren't fit for that. That's part of
(32:42):
the season. But I think, to me, like it's there's
one there's one thing that needs to be fixed. Like
I don't care about outfield at this point. They probably
do need a bad but I don't care if they
don't get it. They have tried and tried with Max
Kepler and other pieces. Austin Hayes, like this has just
been a chronic problem for them, but it's something I
think the lineup has been able to overcome. One of
(33:03):
I think the biggest problems right now is bullpen. They
have not been able to figure out how to replace
Jose Alvarado. They do have Arian Kirkering, who looks like
he is going to be a reliable lightening guy and
really high leverage lightening guy. Not Strom's been able to
give them some good innings. But what they really need
is that third one. And I think they need to
go all out if that means they bypass an outfielder
(33:25):
to do it and they end up going straight to
the bullpen and putting everything into getting that guy. So
be it, get Duran from Minnesota, get Class A from Cleveland,
whatever whoever you want to get. But I really think
they need to go all in to get a reliever.
And I keep seeing sometimes the package here because there
are two guys Mason Miller and Emmanuel Klasse that they
(33:48):
could possibly get as relief pitchers. You compare an outfielder.
Cleveland has Stephen Kwan and Brett Rooker for Oakland, Oakland
or the athletics wherever they are now. But I just
I think that's going to be too I have a
price tag. I don't think people understand how high a
price tag that's going to be. Just get the reliever.
Just get just get a high leverage relieve with reliever,
and that's one of the biggest problems to fix. But yeah,
(34:09):
I think it's like pretty simple, just do that. And
I think they're set, and not that it's to guarantee
that they win in the postseason, but I think that's
really the biggest thing right.
Speaker 2 (34:17):
Now, John, I pointed out at the top of the show. Yeah,
and you're right.
Speaker 3 (34:21):
I mean they're only a game behind the best record
the nationallygue a couple games behind me. They're also only
three games ahead of the Padres, who are just outside
of the wildcards.
Speaker 2 (34:32):
That's a concern for me. They're a half game ahead
in the division.
Speaker 3 (34:37):
They have just wasted this incredible starting pitching, which is
you could probably make a case since the beginning of June,
so we're talking what six weeks now, this is along
the greatest six week stretch of starting pitching in modern
baseball history.
Speaker 2 (34:53):
It's incredible. And they're not running because they just can't
get any hits and or they give up late leads.
Speaker 6 (35:02):
Yeah, and it's certainly it's gonna go in both directions,
right Like I think starting pitching certainly isn't going to
play that level for the entire second half.
Speaker 2 (35:08):
But they're still going to be really good.
Speaker 6 (35:09):
It's gonna be a strong suit. There's still the top
rotation I think in baseball, so you're still going to
get that level play, even if it's not all time
modern great like they have been as you said. But
what also happens is Bryce Harper gets healthy. We've already
seen the impact he has when he's good, and that
San Francisco game is a really great example of it.
Started putting some good, good swings in good at bats
(35:29):
and really productive. So that also raises their offense to
like a very high level when you have Bryce Harper
doing that. So you know, I get that there's frustrating
games like last night where the offense isn't doing much,
But once they get into the second half, you know,
I think that the lineup certainly is going to raise
its level a little bit just because you do have
Bryce Harper back, and that's a big deal. They've minced
(35:50):
Bryce Harper for.
Speaker 2 (35:51):
Most of the season.
Speaker 6 (35:52):
I had to say most, but it has been a
significant portion of the season. And when you lose a
bat for that long, yeah, monup is going to suffer
changes everything. So I think it's gonna work both ways.
I think the lineup's going to elevate this team a
little bit. Certainly, starting pitching is not going to be
what it has been for the past six weeks, but
I think that kind of evens itself out. And I
think the Phillies are more set because really it's just division.
(36:14):
Win the National League East, don't the wildcard. Don't try
and get yourself in a wildcard spots. Just win the
National League East. Wherever you fall in the National League
standings overall, so be it. But I think they're more
set up to win the division than the Mets, just
because of that starting pitching. Starting pitching is good in
the postseason, but if you can get consistently good outings,
as they have over and over again, you're likely to
(36:35):
end up in better positions throughout the regulations, and the
odds are you're going to win more games. So I
think they're in a much better spot than the match.
Speaker 3 (36:42):
Ye they're a great regular season team for that reason,
and the playoffs are just crazy anyway. So discover today's schedule, John,
anything in particular you like the first game that intrigues me.
Speaker 2 (36:53):
Then the Yankees just killed the Cubs last night. Cubs
are having a great year.
Speaker 3 (36:56):
You could make a pretty good case the two best
outfielders in baseball are in this game.
Speaker 2 (37:00):
Obviously, aren't judge for the Yankees.
Speaker 3 (37:03):
And this kid, Pete crow Armstrong, the center fielder for
the Cubs, he's.
Speaker 2 (37:07):
Have it some season.
Speaker 3 (37:08):
I mean, he's probably the the MVP are voting was today,
he'd probably be second Tony.
Speaker 2 (37:13):
I mean, that's how good he's been.
Speaker 6 (37:16):
Yeah, he's he's been great. And I've been I've been
really shocked by the Cubs lineup overall one through nine.
Speaker 1 (37:23):
Uh.
Speaker 6 (37:24):
I know, the Dodgers we talked about a lot and
then we kind of dismissed the Cubs, who got straight
to the Phillies and maybe even time straight to the Mets.
Speaker 3 (37:31):
Uh.
Speaker 6 (37:31):
The Cubs are right up there with the Dodgers. All
they need to do is short up their starting rotation
through the trade deadline. Just the middle of the rotation guy.
And that's a dangerous one through nine lineup. It has
pop everywhere. They have power all over the place. So
they have Yeah, they have great Yeah, they have great
on base percentage. They have guys like Pete crow Armstrong,
good fly, great defense, that was really supposed to be
(37:52):
just kind of a little bit of a defensive team
and uh and just try and pitch your way through
this season and play good defense. But they've been able
to hit like very well, and that's been scary. So
the Cubs very good. I do actually like them today.
They have Matthew Boyd in the mount who's been one
of their better starters. They're going up against Max Freed.
Max Fred's amazing, but I really kind of like that
that matchup for the Cubs there plus one thirty with
(38:14):
the way the lineusen playing Detroit is taking on Seattle
as well. Detroit ended up getting beat pretty bad last night,
but I'm gonna go go back to them. Casey mais
ninety two two point sixty three ERA getting about minus
one thirty against the Mariners. So I think Detroit is
due for a bit of a bounce back. And let's
go to Saint Louis and Atlanta. Atlanta, we aren't sure
(38:37):
who's going to be playing, but I just don't think
the Brads are very good at this point. Cardinals, they're
fighting a bit in the central. It's gonna be a
little bit tough because it looks like Milwaukee has kind
of retold the rotation with this guy.
Speaker 7 (38:48):
The Mids.
Speaker 6 (38:49):
They're calling him just tall, lanky, throws one hundred miles
an hour and his extension basically he's about halfway to
the plate once he extends. So I'm tough. Pakure very young.
I forget the age, but he's he's probably in his
early to mid twenties. Yeah, he's a very very young
kid and very talented.
Speaker 2 (39:06):
He's Paul Schemes in the American League. That's that's so.
Speaker 6 (39:09):
Yeah about my man?
Speaker 3 (39:10):
How about my man skeets since June. Yes, his era
is like zero points zero zero and he has no wins.
Speaker 6 (39:18):
Yeah, it is. It is crazy to see a record
like that when when you watch him pitch and you
see the numbers and then you go, oh, he has
a negative Pittsburgh win moss like a under five hundred
that Yeah, it would says a walk into Pittsburgh thing.
But it's just it's that's hard to do with baseball
in general. That's not just a pit that is hard
(39:40):
to do. We've seen a little bit like Jacob de
Gram and Felix Hernandez go through that at times with
the medic in Seattle, but this feels like it is. Uh,
it's a little bit more aggressive in that. So, yeah,
I've Schemes, and the thing is it's gonna hurt him.
I think in the in the cy Young race, if
you want to go to cy Young os and have
that conversation, it's just that Dak Wheeler is going to
be pit in more meaningful games and so it's going
(40:02):
to be a bigger impact. When Schemes goes nine innings,
gives up a runner two and loses a game, it
doesn't have the same feeling as Zach Wheeler in a
big game, complete game one or two runs and ends
up winning and the Phillies and then now go two
and a half, three and a half games up, hoping
the match. Whatever the case is, it's just that that
that is going to be impactful in the Cy Young
ray is that yet? The numbers with Schemes are good,
(40:23):
But as as Wheeler's numbers get a lot closer to
him and that margin narrows, I think the meaningfulness of
what Zack Wheeler is doing and the games he's pitching
in is going to take over.
Speaker 5 (40:33):
You want to talk about Wheeler solid thirty five, Wheeler
thirty five, Yeah, I think, yeah, you want to talk
about this legendary run for the Phillies. Three of the
top five betting favorites for cy Young or Phillies.
Speaker 3 (40:48):
Ye all Phillies, Yeah, Jarez and and Wheeler and Will
amazing schemes and Logan Web Yeah.
Speaker 2 (40:55):
How often has that ever happened?
Speaker 3 (40:56):
When you think you have to go back to the
Orioles teams, like actually years ago.
Speaker 2 (41:02):
Starts out. Yeah, he'd probably be close to that, Mitch Yeah, yeah, Yeah.
Speaker 6 (41:08):
He's been a little inconsistent, but they're still good stuff
there and he's been He's put together really good performances
too lately.
Speaker 7 (41:14):
And that.
Speaker 2 (41:15):
Does anybody know when or if Aaron Nola is coming back?
Speaker 5 (41:19):
I haven't heard.
Speaker 6 (41:21):
Well. I think they definitely took their time a bit
because there was something else that came up with him.
So it's going to be after the All Star break,
I would say, if anything, end of July, sometime in August,
like we're talking about that soon the playoffs.
Speaker 5 (41:34):
Yeah, he's got to be your number four guy. You
can't take exact I mean, correct.
Speaker 6 (41:40):
Aaron Nola. Aaronola has as many, almost as close to
as many innings as Zach Wheeler and Aaron Nola's like
thirty one years old. This guy has hitched an insane
amount of baseball over the last like ten to twelve years.
And it's kind of like it's remarkable, like Carlo three
pass Aaron Nola a little bit like there was I
think a game or winnings, Like that's how much Aaronola's
(42:01):
been playing. That's how long he has. And he's pitched
every season, almost every single start, and he hasn't missed
many starts.
Speaker 2 (42:08):
Yeah, he never gets hurt. This is like so unusual.
Speaker 6 (42:11):
So the hope is I think here with the injury
may be a blessing in disguise where get healthy, armed
is a little bit fresh, especially for the second half,
his arm may be a little bit more fresh than
it usually is. And the thing is, it's a bit
of a bonus. At this point, you have your three
for the for the playoffs. Usually the fourth guy is
a bonus one or somebody that you're already skeptical about.
And I take Roonola there as a fourth or fifth starter. Yeah,
(42:34):
I certainly think Aaronola, you know, it's it's it's a
good thing to have that problem where he can go
in and I don't think the expectations too high, and
you can kind of just kind of ease him into
it and not have to rush him like they they
probably would have in previous years.
Speaker 3 (42:48):
So Johnner's a couple other games I'm looking at and
see what you think you're paying attention to my Orioles.
I know miles one sixty seven today at home against
the Marlins. They've won five of six, swept the Braves,
took two or three for the Warlands. I think Marlin's
not good. They had a big road winning streak which ended.
(43:09):
Are the I'm not saying the Orioles are back, but
are you? Are you fascinated by how well they're playing?
Obviously I have because I have a wager involv But
they look like the team we thought they're twenty four
and fourteen in their last thirty eight.
Speaker 6 (43:23):
Yes, that's when you have a young team that finally
went through. Maybe for a lot of these guys at
the first time of adversity, you know, expectations coming into
the season. They didn't get a lot of help in
the off season too, so they kind of knew the
core players there, the young guys there, that they they
really have to step up, and the Orioles were kind
of relying on those guys that have big seasons and
(43:44):
carry the team throughout the year, and they really haven't,
so I think it is a good good sign that
they are starting to put it together. That lineup is lethal,
especially if you are starting to get better performances out
of Gunder Henderson, Jackson Holliday and Anley Rushman and a
lot of those guys. They really need, at least Gunnar
Henderson to bump those numbers up, and I think they're
(44:06):
starting to get that. It's still remained be seen the
pitching starting pitching if that can hold up for them
to make that kind of run, but it has at
this point and the lineup's really starting to play well
as well. So yeah, it's been It's been encouraging, I
think for a young team like that to say they
could so easily turn around in the second half to
where they start really getting streaky and putting together a long,
(44:29):
long line of wins. So it's certainly intriguing when a
young team like that starts to figure it out again.
Speaker 3 (44:34):
Yeah, I was fascinated again for the people that don't
know they started the season nineteen and thirty six.
Speaker 2 (44:40):
I mean that you know, you're basically out of it
at that point.
Speaker 6 (44:43):
I mean you tried to come back from the Yeah,
record of that h's just brutal.
Speaker 2 (44:47):
But since then, they played six thirty three ball twenty
four and fourteen. As I said, And.
Speaker 3 (44:53):
What fascinates me is since they lose the game to
the Mets, they just swept Atlanta. They come home less
six before the All Star Game. They're up on the
Mets six to two in the top of the eighth
on Tuesday, and they got they got the closer waiting.
Speaker 2 (45:07):
I mean, the game's over. If they get three outs,
Mets tie the game.
Speaker 3 (45:11):
Mets win the game in the top of the ten,
and the man, you're thinking, that's it, Yeah, it was
this Kate. Well, they come back, they got to rain
out the next day, and then they played a day
night doubleheader and they're losing in the bottom of the
eighth in the afternoon game and Headerson comes up and
hits a pitch it home run win the game. Then
they win the night game. Then they crossed Florida last night.
(45:34):
Now all of a sudden, they're feeling good about themselves.
I like the fact that they were able to overcome
what was a brutal loss, which messes up a lot
of squads.
Speaker 6 (45:43):
I think the only the only tough part now may
be that. I mean, recently, it looks like nobody in
the American League East can lose, other than maybe Tampa Bay,
who's been a little bit struggling. But even the Acts
have put together five straight, Baltons put together eighth straight,
Toronto nine and one of their last ten, Baltimore seven
and three their last ten. So I just look it
really it really self division.
Speaker 2 (46:03):
But I'm not worried about the division. I just wanted
to get in the wildcard.
Speaker 6 (46:08):
Oh yeah, it's just that they have to play those
teams unfortunately, and that kind stuff. But that's where I
don't I'm not sure the American League because a lot
of those teams like Texas three games out, Minnesota three
and a half, LA three and a half, Kada City
or Cleveland five like those are all candidates could be
sellers in the trade.
Speaker 2 (46:25):
Deadline, correct, and they all lose, Like, I don't know
how it's going to work there.
Speaker 6 (46:30):
Yeah, right, the wildcard, I just I'm not sure what
to make of it. So, yeah, why not a team
that's six games out there basically try and get that
last five.
Speaker 3 (46:37):
Yeah, the Reels are five games in the lost column
out of the wildcard with seventy one games to go.
I mean, so there's no shortage of time. Get it
like eight, nine, ten game winning streak, and some of
these I think Cleveland just lost like nine or ten
in a row. So that's none of.
Speaker 6 (46:54):
Those gas Cleveland stopping.
Speaker 2 (46:56):
Baseball loses nine or ten in a row and then
they win nine or ten in that row.
Speaker 3 (47:00):
And again, as I mentioned a couple of weeks ago,
the os and more wins in the last two years
in any team in baseball. Yeah, I mean, they didn't
just become terrible overnight. They had a terrible two months,
is what they had.
Speaker 2 (47:14):
Did they win a playoff series? They did not?
Speaker 3 (47:16):
Well, But I'm just I know, I'm not worried about that.
I'm just worried about getting get me to the playoffs, Mike,
that's all.
Speaker 2 (47:22):
Then to win a series, they win three.
Speaker 5 (47:24):
Series, get me to the playoffs and we'll see, yeh.
Speaker 3 (47:28):
Three three to get to the American League Oh okay,
one shift, that's that's where.
Speaker 6 (47:33):
Most But again, the good thing that the American League
picture just looks looks odd at this point, like that's
the league. Can see you can tell the top teams
and they're all condensed very close together. The American League,
give it, I mean it is. It is a crapshoot
at this point. I'm really I'm really not sure what
to make of it, to the point where I know
the choice the best team, but why would you not go, Hey,
Houston's right now fifty five and thirty nine. Uh, I
(47:54):
know they've lost their last four, but like, if they're
going to be in the in the picture, why not
just like Houston the American League.
Speaker 5 (48:00):
We're in mitchell and there's only two American League teams
that you can count out, that's about it, while the
other teams are in it. It's fascinating.
Speaker 4 (48:07):
Houston's lost like five real good players in the last year,
two or three years, and one of the better players
is on the ILA with an injury.
Speaker 2 (48:14):
And they're still good.
Speaker 3 (48:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (48:16):
Yeah, And there's six games six games ahead and the West.
Speaker 2 (48:20):
On any other any other games today that intrigue you.
Speaker 6 (48:25):
I would not say all too much. We're getting to uh,
we're getting to a weird point in the season. Always
what you get towards the All Star Break teams are
just really trying to get to the finish line. So
it's a little bit of thing like, obviously, the most
interesting game today is going to be a tiny on
the mound. How long does he go? How high is
this pitchdown going to be? They've been kind of using
(48:46):
what would be a simulated games, just using it in game,
and it's been fascinating to watch, and he is the
stuff is electric. Does he go a little bit farther today?
But maybe that's the one to look at as well,
just because you know San Francisco's good team. They're at
home plus one thirty five. I guess you may get
a little bit of a bump with Otani. But how
long is Atana gonna go? And that's always like one
of the biggest questions right now with him on the mountains,
(49:09):
the amount of pitchers they're going.
Speaker 3 (49:10):
To give them. Yeah, Dodgers lost seven and or other,
still the best record in the National League even with them,
and it's pretty clear what the Dodgers are trying to do.
They want to get Otani writing for the postseason where
he's going to be starting one.
Speaker 2 (49:23):
Of a game in every series.
Speaker 3 (49:25):
Literally, I mean because John Smoltz has made this case
and a number of other guys that if he only pitched,
he could very well be the best pitcher in baseball,
which is kind of astonishing.
Speaker 6 (49:35):
And what's really working out for him too, it's, you know,
coming back from this injury. I'm sure he hasn't been
able to pitch as much, but I'm sure he's been
able to work on it. He's working on his pitching mechanics,
he's working on everything to get back. So I think
his stuff has looked sharper than it has. I think
his mechanics is better than it has so. And guess
he's getting older too, like he's learning more. So I
(49:55):
think that's when, like gradually, as the years go on,
he's just gonna learn to become a better pitcher. And
I already think we're starting to see that just now,
you know, being able to do it for five, six,
seven innings, and that's really just the health part. And
get them.
Speaker 3 (50:11):
A couple of futures, yeah, by the way, yeah, yeah,
a couple of futures.
Speaker 2 (50:14):
I'll throw that John before you get out of here.
Speaker 3 (50:16):
To win the National League Dodgers plus one ten essentially
even money Phillies plus four twenty five, so little over
four to one.
Speaker 2 (50:24):
Cubs six to one, Mets six to one.
Speaker 3 (50:27):
Any you like any of those bets at this stage
is where I would take all the Mets.
Speaker 6 (50:31):
You no, And I'm I'm intrigued by the Cub's number
just because they're with the Mets. That doesn't make sense
to me. Cubs have looked. Cubs are better than the Mets,
and maybe I could even make a case for them
being even better than the Phillies just because of how
good that lineup is. But that's where the starting rotation
for the Phillies comes in, and that's a whole different thing.
But yeah, Streets, yep, oh yeah, oh yeah.
Speaker 2 (50:55):
We don't know what the Dodgers you're going to get,
the Phillies are going to get, the Cubs.
Speaker 6 (50:58):
I mean, this could all well, let's just put it
this way. Every almost every single playoff team their biggest
needed bullpen help. Which one of those teams is actually
going to pay for it? Pay the price for it?
The top on for the cross Days and the Durhams
in the league.
Speaker 2 (51:13):
Here's bet Park's futures for the World Series.
Speaker 3 (51:16):
At this stage, Dodger's still the favorite, despite losing seven
or a plus two to fifteen Yankees at Detroit plus
six fifty Phillies plus eight to fifty anything there, intrigued,
I won't play the Yankees.
Speaker 2 (51:29):
No Yankees at six fifty, Mike.
Speaker 6 (51:31):
No Yankee problems.
Speaker 2 (51:33):
Yeah, Houston, Houston. Uh, that seems like a lot. Nobody's
repeating Houston, Yeah, Houston, they're good there. What's their price
to win the World Series?
Speaker 5 (51:43):
Plus one thousand, hundred to one?
Speaker 2 (51:44):
Yeah? Wait, whoa, that seems like that's about plus yeah, no, no,
that's got to be plus ten ten, ten to one
ten one, yeah, yeah, you shot the Yeah, it's pretty good.
What Texas?
Speaker 6 (51:58):
The American League isn't good, So I can easily see
the only team that's really good is Detroit. But that's
that's when you get into the territory. They're going to
be the top team in the American League. They're gonna
have that bye weeks and they're not going to play
in the wildcard round. Are the expectations going to be
too high? Are they too young? Do they falter under
all of that pressure? And we've seen a lot, but yeah, teams,
especially after getting the wildcard bodies that they have been Uh,
(52:19):
so to me, it goes straight to well, Houston knows
how to win in all those games. Houston, even though
they've cycled through players, still has all to help them
do it. Yeah, we're and the starting kitchen has been
really good with Hunter Brown. I just why not. Houston's
been touching my eye in the American League. Why not
if everything else is chaos and new and we don't
know what's going on, Houston's like.
Speaker 2 (52:41):
Yeah, I think Detroit is better than I think because
of Detroit.
Speaker 3 (52:46):
Nobody likes from the last two years with scooball exactly,
that's rightly exactly. They got all this young talent. They're good,
but they did well in the playoffs last year. They
played well, they were fined. They were in a series
last year in the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (53:00):
You know, I think they lost in the first round,
but they had to go on the road, right for
three games to play somebody, right, I.
Speaker 6 (53:07):
Don't remember all that forget. It was basically they call
in on Scooble, trying to fish him out of it.
Speaker 2 (53:14):
Yeah, you gotta face Schooble in game one.
Speaker 3 (53:17):
You know. That's answer John final question before we let
you go. It has just been announced that VJ. Edgecomb
is out for the season. Are you concerned?
Speaker 6 (53:30):
I wouldn't be. I'm not surprised. I know it hasn't happened,
but I feel like I'm just waiting for that news,
just like, Okay, that's gonna happen at some point, you know,
you know who.
Speaker 4 (53:41):
I can't stand anymore by the way we got into
this early. You usually saved this for Darn Moore, Like
when he opens his mouth.
Speaker 2 (53:49):
I love he was.
Speaker 3 (53:50):
There was something today they he inquired, did like a
Q and A or something like that, you know, and
he was answer. He's optimistic about everything, like, well, four
guys come back. Of course, if are your guys come back?
And these stinks, I get it.
Speaker 6 (54:04):
Yeah, but I mean that says this would if you
wouldn't inject just a tiny bit of humility, everything would
be okay.
Speaker 2 (54:14):
I will say this.
Speaker 3 (54:15):
I saw a video the other day, Uh, Joel Embiid's
son look good shooting free.
Speaker 5 (54:21):
Thirst Yeah on and Beid got heard for.
Speaker 6 (54:27):
That was nothing but net Yeah that was good.
Speaker 2 (54:30):
Yeah that was Kyle. Kyle Lowry's back.
Speaker 5 (54:33):
He's back.
Speaker 2 (54:34):
He's gonna be no forget Kyle the other guy. They
brought back the old guy.
Speaker 5 (54:39):
Eric Gordon, he's younger, he's like thirty eight.
Speaker 4 (54:43):
So we're talking about how they got they got younger
and quicker, and now they got older.
Speaker 2 (54:48):
And I don't get this team. I don't. I don't
think anybody I understand.
Speaker 6 (54:52):
That that is a good point to make, where yes
they got VJ. Edgecombe, but if they really wanted to
make it a point of getting younger, they didn't do it.
Speaker 2 (55:00):
Yeah, overall, Kyle going for and hopefully.
Speaker 5 (55:05):
And and Maury's sitting there, Well, if Paul George was
ten years younger and Beide had good knees, and Kyle
Lowery Kyle Lowry was thirty years younger, then you know
we'd be in good sek Kyle missed like one hundred
teams last year. He did, he missed all but all
bit one hundred he missed. He missed, Yeah, eighty two games.
He missed what eighty one?
Speaker 2 (55:23):
I mean? Well, nobody nobody, nobody noticed, nobody played at
the end. They were just nobody noticed.
Speaker 5 (55:28):
Well, he did average four points last year, so what
can can you look up.
Speaker 2 (55:32):
His career stats? Real quick?
Speaker 3 (55:34):
Before we got a break, John, thank you for calling in.
Well we see you next week. Are you in attendance
at Ara Park.
Speaker 6 (55:40):
No that the every air portion will be Maybe I'll
call him, but I'll be in South Carolina.
Speaker 3 (55:45):
Now Carolina, look for Jangles and George Jangles, plenty of it.
Speaker 2 (55:51):
All right, John, we'll talk here next week. Say by.
Speaker 4 (55:54):
Maury is just getting and I understand it's just now
getting on your no no no, But I always tried
to give him.
Speaker 2 (56:00):
I don't think he's as stupid as we kind of
make him out.
Speaker 4 (56:03):
But he's smug, Like Kyle said, he's just got this
smug this about him that does he not realize that
he's lighter on his team missed almost all last.
Speaker 5 (56:13):
Season, but he's got it all figured out.
Speaker 3 (56:15):
And the guy he's signed for for four years or
whatever the hell they signed for culture basically sat out
last season.
Speaker 2 (56:22):
And I mean, and is setting out even when he
was playing.
Speaker 5 (56:24):
For a guy that doesn't have a track record, he's
got it all figured He was amazing.
Speaker 2 (56:30):
He's a winner.
Speaker 5 (56:30):
Yeah, he's a winner. Where's your ring? So let me
see your rings?
Speaker 2 (56:34):
Do we have Kyle Lowry's Like, how many career points
does Kyle have?
Speaker 5 (56:37):
Career points?
Speaker 2 (56:39):
Like sixteen seventeen thousand? Is he that high?
Speaker 5 (56:42):
Let me say I have his think Yeah, would.
Speaker 2 (56:44):
Say ten a game more than I would think more
than that career. Well, I'm just saying maybe the last
few years of struggling down. Definitely, the last few years
of brought his average numbers down.
Speaker 3 (56:53):
For sure.
Speaker 5 (56:54):
I got to pull up. We'll get to it after Yeah,
I just have his average, We'll.
Speaker 2 (56:58):
Get to it. He got a ring, right, he was
on the Toronto he's starting. Yeah, he was. Him and
Kawhi Leonard were the two best players he was. Yeah,
he absolutely was.
Speaker 5 (57:07):
Sixteen thousand, three fifty.
Speaker 3 (57:09):
About that, I said seventeen thousand. Yeah, I mean he's
starting to get I don't. I don't think he's a
Hall of Fame player, but he's getting to, you know,
and he's not going to get to twenty thousand obviously
now and he's probably not gonna get.
Speaker 2 (57:21):
There, but he's in. I would say some discussion. I
love Kyle. He's a Philly guy right now. The Hall
of Fame.
Speaker 4 (57:28):
If he makes the Hall of Fames, I'm not paying
attention to the Hall of Fame ever again, Yeah, and yeah,
I would.
Speaker 2 (57:33):
Agree with that.
Speaker 5 (57:33):
Yeah, you don't think he's gonna catch Lebron at all.
Speaker 2 (57:36):
Okay, and that's no knock on Kyle. He's had.
Speaker 4 (57:38):
I mean the reason the Sixers are bringing him back
because they think he could be a good influence on
all these sure young guards they got running.
Speaker 3 (57:44):
Yeah, that's fine, and Eric and they'll come in and
they'll he'll take a few fouls and a few guys.
Speaker 5 (57:49):
They have the deepest coaching staff in the league, Kyle.
Speaker 2 (57:53):
Dicky's pointed out to me about five times in the
last two years. He does make some dirty places. The
Knick series, right, it was the Knick series.
Speaker 3 (58:02):
Right where your teako. It was brutal where he was
doing jail and Bruntland and those guys. I mean, that's
all he's got left. He knows all the tricks at
this point. Well, all right, we're through an hour. We

Girardi along with Mike Kern and Kyle Nunnamaker, Mike. Today
we're about to start the third round for the favorites.
The third round has already started the Scottish Open at
the Renaissance Club in North Berwick, scott Burke, Burke.
Speaker 2 (01:00:01):
It's it's like Balmore. There you go, balmert Burke, North Burke, Scotland.
Speaker 3 (01:00:06):
Chris gotta Up, who I've never heard of, is minus
eleven leading yesterday, twenty nine on the front, thirty two
on the back, sixty one.
Speaker 2 (01:00:15):
That means he'll probably shoot seventy one today.
Speaker 3 (01:00:18):
If I if I look, I think I looked at
this rady at nine birdies. No boats must be a
part of seventy then obviously that's the case. Uh Ludwin
minus eight, Beethoven, Rory McLoyd minus seven, Fitzpatrick minus eight, Mike,
what are you thinking as we get right for the
leaders to start round?
Speaker 2 (01:00:38):
And it's an interesting tournament.
Speaker 4 (01:00:40):
But I'm going to give you my Harry Hall, who
is in second two back, has been playing really well.
Speaker 2 (01:00:46):
I've been worsing England and he played well with the PGA.
He's gone, but he's.
Speaker 4 (01:00:52):
Been playing well, so he's like he's a guy you
would say it's minus nine.
Speaker 2 (01:00:56):
Yeah, and you know.
Speaker 4 (01:00:59):
Stepstrick, who's pretty good, is seven under, so he's only
four back.
Speaker 2 (01:01:03):
What's this price. He's eighteen to one, which actually is
a that's a good number under. But my reasoning Tom Kimson,
Tom kims in it. Scotti Scheffler is five under. I
think he's actually four hundred because I looked up at
the TV. Probably he's still eight.
Speaker 4 (01:01:21):
Well, he was eight to one at this But again,
and here's my reason in my pool that I take
every year in December, western guy. Take Fitzpatrick in this
tournament like the last three years, and he hasn't really
done this year. I didn't take him for reasons.
Speaker 2 (01:01:37):
I don't know why.
Speaker 4 (01:01:39):
I took the defending chap who was in last place
as of yesterday, and McIntyre, the guy.
Speaker 2 (01:01:49):
Guy.
Speaker 4 (01:01:50):
But anyway, so I'm gonna go with Fitzpatrick at nine
to one. He won't probably normally I would probably go
Ludwig because that's what I do. I actually think, O, man,
it's eighteen, but that's a good number for him. But
I'm glad that Rory because I have Rory next week
and I really really need Rory next week and do
something next week in the British Open hopefully can win
(01:02:13):
the Masters to start and they have all kind of
goofy stuff in the middle and win the finish.
Speaker 2 (01:02:18):
Can I make a quick.
Speaker 4 (01:02:19):
Observation on the Sixers since yes, the most frustrating part
about the Sixers to me this year no no, no, no.
When Morey talks and whatever, and we all know the
East really is up. I mean the Cleveland should be
really good next are gonna be really good. Other than that,
I mean, Detroit's getting better. They've got a young team.
Speaker 2 (01:02:40):
I like Detroit.
Speaker 4 (01:02:41):
Detroit getting better. And Atlanta went out. I never have
confidence in Atlanta, but they went out and they moved,
they did well. But the Sixers, if God forbid they
were healthy, could be maybe a team that could win
around or God forbid two which you.
Speaker 2 (01:02:59):
Know, never Boston XI and we just see Milwaukee there
what's going on?
Speaker 4 (01:03:08):
But again, that's the most frustrating thing about him is
not only if Boston was good and and and Indiana
was good, consider and.
Speaker 3 (01:03:16):
I don't care to taint him, doesn't it doesn't ter
as Achilles. They wouldn't have blown up the whole thing
in Boston. They would have done something they wouldn't have
done all this and Indiana obviously with with not Halliburton,
that's they're not the same.
Speaker 2 (01:03:27):
And you have to find it's it's hard. It's on
my friend Kevin Cooney there, and Kevin was like, they
got it.
Speaker 4 (01:03:33):
They gotta get people excited, like that's why they were
saying this rookie league. I said, I don't care about
the rookie league, Kevin. Kevin fans are so down on
the Sixers right now that the only thing that matters.
I don't care if this guy they just drafted is exciting.
If he is exciting, but it's always he's also rookie.
He's got to figure out a way to fit in.
(01:03:53):
He's not a true point guard. But okay, whatever, this
team doesn't win, people don't care. And I don't mean
win sixty games. What you're saying, get the fifty, Like,
get get into fifty range and just give me some reason.
Speaker 3 (01:04:09):
To the gigantic step back last year, And obviously much
of that was due to the fact that their star
player could hardly got a chance to play and your
second best player was not very stunk and he's thirty
five years old.
Speaker 2 (01:04:22):
And why would he get better at this point? Does
he care. He cared two years ago when he was
playing for a contract.
Speaker 3 (01:04:28):
One final paycheck. And look, we could debate all of
this over and over and over again, but the bottom
everybody understands the bottom line. It hasn't changed. What is
going on with twenty one? Will he be ready to play?
How much can he play? How effective will I'm going
to ask you two guys a question. If anybody knows
the answer to that or thinks they do, they're making
it up.
Speaker 4 (01:04:48):
One of the radio stations yesterday, did they you know
when they do a little pole and the fans come in,
who is the most valuable player to their team?
Speaker 5 (01:04:56):
Who means to the sixers?
Speaker 6 (01:04:58):
No?
Speaker 1 (01:04:59):
No, no, no.
Speaker 4 (01:05:00):
Choices were in the quarterback of the Eagles. Yeah, Joe
and Harper? Yea, my aunts, Harper's Harper's third. Yeah, My
answer is Joe because and I agree, the quarterback is
the most important position in all of sports.
Speaker 2 (01:05:14):
They have other really good players.
Speaker 4 (01:05:16):
If you put a backup quarterback on the Eagles, there'll
be a five hundred team.
Speaker 2 (01:05:20):
Correct, Okay, they they'll, they'll.
Speaker 4 (01:05:22):
When Joe doesn't play, he said, as win thirty five
percent of the games when he plays, they win sixty
five percent.
Speaker 2 (01:05:27):
It's a fact. You can look up the numbers. What
more do I need? And I understand what the people
who are voting for the quarterback.
Speaker 5 (01:05:33):
Yeah, yeah, No one's saying that if you take Jalen
Hurts away, there's still gonna be a Super Bowl contender.
It's just the drop off isn't as much when you
take Hurts away. The one person was making well, if
you take them off, they can't win.
Speaker 4 (01:05:44):
SUPERWL Okay, fine, yeah, but I'm just talking about the
most important player to their team. If twenty one is
not on the court for thirty or forty games, is
your desertions were nintendedos game?
Speaker 5 (01:05:53):
They're a lottery team.
Speaker 3 (01:05:54):
No, the numbers are. He just pointed them out and
you don't even need the numbers. You just got to
watch them play.
Speaker 5 (01:06:00):
It's not the same.
Speaker 2 (01:06:01):
And you know what the funny thing is, we forget
when he got hurt this last time, which is now
what eighteen.
Speaker 4 (01:06:07):
Months ago, he was averaging thirty six points a game,
putting up nobody averages thirty six points a game on
Jordan and.
Speaker 3 (01:06:18):
Will on ridiculous true shooting number, getting to the free
throw line making an insane amount of his free throws defending, you.
Speaker 2 (01:06:27):
Know, playing like and right. They were thirty six and
ten or so.
Speaker 3 (01:06:33):
Now what would have happened in the playoffs is another question.
But yeah, he was great and he hasn't been remotely
the same since, and he might.
Speaker 4 (01:06:40):
Not ever be remotely to say, and this is what
I worry a little bit about Harper. And I'm not
trying to create Harper with with him beat. I don't
mean it that way, but Harper's getting older.
Speaker 2 (01:06:48):
He is this risk injury. Now, Harp thirty one, thirty two,
he might be a thirty three. Uh even look it up,
will continue to be this injury. It's a wrist injury.
And it's been like a year and a half now. Yeah.
Good And for a hit or like him that swings
(01:07:11):
like him, yep, that's a big deal.
Speaker 4 (01:07:13):
And unless he's gonna stink, I don't mean it that way,
but we might not see the Harper that we saw
a few years ago, that it was just a guy
who carry a team.
Speaker 3 (01:07:22):
Made the postseason twenty two price Harper back in the
worst way for the at least if they're going to
get to the playoffs, they need him there, all right.
I'm gonna give out the bet of the Year tomorrow
met Life Stadium. I cannot believe the price that soccer.
Speaker 2 (01:07:38):
It does.
Speaker 3 (01:07:39):
The FIFA Club World Cup, which is kind of a
forest because many of the best clubs won Arsenal or chelseason.
Speaker 2 (01:07:46):
Yeah, Chelsea versus PSG.
Speaker 3 (01:07:49):
PSG won the Champions League, which is the that's the
hardest league in the world, in the Premier League. Yeah,
because all the top clubs from all the best leagues
in the world or in the gym and they won that.
Not only did they win it, they annihilated everybody. And
if people are paying attention to this FIFA club, this
is after losing in Babe correct and Bope is gone,
(01:08:11):
gone and don't care gone. They the two best clubs
in the world this year and not there were no
close there. PSG in Liverpool and PSG beat Liverpool in
penalties in like the round of sixty and the champions
they got. I still haven't figured out why the game
is in the round of sixty, but that's all other story.
PSG plays Chelsea tomorrow at the Meadow Lens their what
(01:08:33):
are you laying their minus won.
Speaker 2 (01:08:34):
Sixty seven and you're stealing money. This game will not
be close. Now, is this the score at the end
of regulation, like if it went full time?
Speaker 3 (01:08:44):
Yes, correct. If it's two two, I lose, Okay, that's correct. Okay, yeah, okay,
that's the least. That's the way I read it. Yeah,
full time is ninety minutes, I believe. Okay, plus extra
whatever that stupid thing is where they put up plus
seven or extra time, yeah, plus nine or whatever.
Speaker 2 (01:09:00):
They feel like this and.
Speaker 5 (01:09:02):
They don't count.
Speaker 3 (01:09:03):
They play like thirty minutes of overtime, but they will.
But that's not what That's not the bet win. I
get it.
Speaker 2 (01:09:10):
It's just like you, you're all over PSG.
Speaker 3 (01:09:12):
Look, Chelsea is isn't a decent a pretty good Premier
League team. PSG is one of the best soccer teams
I've ever seen. They're unbelievable. Look, you know, everybody knows
I'm a Liverpool fan. They have played Liverpool in both games.
I mean they lost the first one one mill in
Paris and they totally were.
Speaker 2 (01:09:32):
Who's the best players? I have no idea who. All
I know is everybody out there is great, That's all
I know.
Speaker 3 (01:09:38):
And they're young and they're fast and they're gonna cross
Chelsea minus one.
Speaker 2 (01:09:43):
Sixties correct, Paris center man.
Speaker 3 (01:09:46):
They lost their best player and Bapa and got better
and he's now suing on Madrid or so Real Madrid.
Speaker 2 (01:09:52):
I believe you hate that. You hate that team, right,
just awful human beings, just bad, just bad bad people.
Only soccer game. One of the few seconds, one of
the few soccer.
Speaker 4 (01:10:06):
Teams I watched from start to finishing up one shot
on goals and won the Champions League final three years ago.
Speaker 3 (01:10:13):
Liverpool versus Realm the trip Liverpool is like twenty shots
on goal. Their goalie makes like makes like Bernie Port
shot one shot and they score and win one meal.
I'm talking about not getting the result. You deserve an
absolute disgrace. Plus they whine and they cheat. They're just bad, bad.
Speaker 2 (01:10:33):
People, like the Detroit Pistons of the Lady. Yes, that's
a great I love that.
Speaker 4 (01:10:38):
Bill Lampier, Yeah, the Bill Lampia. They got a team
of Bill Lampier's. Are you, by the way, are you exciting?
And I know you know the World Cup is not
like you say to me all the time. It's not
that's not the best.
Speaker 2 (01:10:49):
It's great that it's gonna be I follow that fun,
but that's gonna be cool that we're gonna have no question. Yeah. Again,
the like these top teams, top tier.
Speaker 3 (01:11:00):
Teams in the well A League and the bundes Laga
Premier League. Yeah, what's what's the front what's the French
league called?
Speaker 2 (01:11:09):
Whatever?
Speaker 3 (01:11:10):
They're way better than these international teams because it's like
the all star teams.
Speaker 2 (01:11:13):
All the best players from these countries are on these
top te world. It's going to be interested.
Speaker 4 (01:11:19):
It's going to forty eight teams next year from the
thirty two. Now the US would have been in it anyway,
you're host. The host team might be three host, isn't it.
Speaker 2 (01:11:28):
Yeah, that's right.
Speaker 4 (01:11:30):
But so I don't know how the format is going
to change in those in those early rounds, groups, groups,
I love it when they do the groups, the groups.
Speaker 2 (01:11:38):
The group to group, the group, group of death. I
love the group of death. You do not want to
be in the group.
Speaker 4 (01:11:43):
I know there's games here, right, we get like four
games at the Lava. It might be like a quarterfinal.
I think there is at the length. And could the
US be in that quarterfinal? No chance, okay, zero us
hopeless in soccer.
Speaker 2 (01:11:57):
I mean really well, they did make the quarters one
year and then.
Speaker 4 (01:12:00):
They shot the Colombian guy when he got back to
Columbia at the own goal.
Speaker 7 (01:12:04):
That was.
Speaker 2 (01:12:04):
That was, that was, that was. That was horrible, freaking horrible.
People are passionate.
Speaker 5 (01:12:09):
No, I get the least.
Speaker 2 (01:12:11):
I felt that was taking it a little further than
you thought.
Speaker 5 (01:12:14):
That was over the line.
Speaker 2 (01:12:15):
Did you ever see thirty thirty was and he was
apparently a great just like a person. Yeah, brutal, And
that's when the guy gets the guy in Colombia. Pablo
was doing all the Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:12:27):
The two Escabars. That guy was named Escobar as well. Right,
they got poor guy that got shot.
Speaker 2 (01:12:32):
Yeah, we don't call it. By Tuesday night.
Speaker 3 (01:12:36):
In Atlanta home run derby Mike, I know you'll be
glued to your television.
Speaker 2 (01:12:42):
Schwarters not in it.
Speaker 8 (01:12:43):
Here you go.
Speaker 3 (01:12:44):
Here are the prices cal Rowley plus three hundred Ronald
Acuny in his home ball park plus four on.
Speaker 2 (01:12:51):
I thought I saw he wasn't going to be in it.
But maybe maybe maybe I got maybe I read it wrong.
This is as a four o'clock yesterday at bet Parks.
Speaker 3 (01:12:58):
Yeah, I thought, okay, maybe he's changed his mind. Maybe
Byron Buxton ten to one Future Philly Jazz Chisholm, what
is chi He's ten to one worst worst Harry Judge,
He's not in there. O'Neil Cruz, second choice at plus
three fifty is out. He's replaced by Olson his teammates.
(01:13:19):
Oh that's right, I did see that Olsen is.
Speaker 2 (01:13:22):
In a ConA out.
Speaker 6 (01:13:24):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:13:25):
James Wood not not James Wood's the actor, but James Wood.
He's pretty good. It's four fifty.
Speaker 3 (01:13:32):
Washington nuts, right, that's right to me. Yeah, yeah, he's
her camin Arrow plus one thousand and Brent Rooker plus
the thousand. What are Buxton's numbers?
Speaker 2 (01:13:42):
Buxton ten to one. I'm gonna go Buckston Buxton for
my future, Philly.
Speaker 5 (01:13:48):
I'm fit. Yeah, I'm fading jazz.
Speaker 3 (01:13:50):
Chisholm, you're fading fading jazz, and I'm I'm taking all
my money I make on PSG tomorrow and parlaying it
onto my man Cal Rock, who's gonna break.
Speaker 2 (01:14:01):
The all time home run derby record. Really, but that'll
message three to one that don't mess the swing up
for the rest. I don't care.
Speaker 3 (01:14:08):
I'm just saying, who cares? I had my PSG money,
I might go back and bet more on the order
I feel.
Speaker 5 (01:14:15):
Like the home run leader. Did they usually win? I
feel like they you don't win, so I don't know.
I'm gonna go Brent Rooker.
Speaker 3 (01:14:22):
So you're having another another future think about this, now,
future about this. You're having a home run derby without
tany Schwarburn judge, Like, I get it. I know why
these guys don't necessarily want.
Speaker 6 (01:14:35):
To be in it.
Speaker 5 (01:14:35):
But at least Junior Kaminaro is in it.
Speaker 2 (01:14:37):
I would love that schwarb So Phillies in the game.
Is Schwarburn?
Speaker 6 (01:14:41):
Now?
Speaker 3 (01:14:41):
The only phillis the game because the pitchers declined to
a climb.
Speaker 2 (01:14:46):
First place. And then actually, case doesn't see, well, see,
we grew up in a near where the.
Speaker 4 (01:14:51):
All Star Game meant something people, it doesn't it, And
this is the only All Star game that even remotely
matters anymore, and it still don't matter.
Speaker 3 (01:15:01):
The NFL plays like flag football now, right, the NBA
is a NFL.
Speaker 5 (01:15:06):
Yeah. Actually, with the NHL's skills.
Speaker 2 (01:15:08):
What the NHL did last year was cool, But that
wasn't an All Star game? Are we? Hey, Sean? Do
I have this right?
Speaker 3 (01:15:14):
Is next year the All Star Game? The internationals versus
the Americans for NBA?
Speaker 2 (01:15:20):
That is correct, that'll be that's somewhat more interesting. I know, yeah,
I like that.
Speaker 7 (01:15:24):
Yeah, they still haven't decided like the exact format with it,
but that's the idea that they're their own care.
Speaker 2 (01:15:29):
That's that's fine if people come and try and know
what they need to do.
Speaker 3 (01:15:33):
In addition to that put up some month, the winner
gets a mill Did you realize person maybe too?
Speaker 4 (01:15:40):
What's where do you realize the NBA is very close
to having players getting paid a million dollars game?
Speaker 2 (01:15:48):
It's a million game?
Speaker 7 (01:15:50):
What it was?
Speaker 2 (01:15:50):
What was Brooker's contract.
Speaker 4 (01:15:52):
To seventy five for It was an extension onto his
contract one seventy five for two.
Speaker 2 (01:15:59):
But they actually said Cleveland, they did.
Speaker 5 (01:16:01):
A good thing because two years, one hundred and forty
five million. No, but it was an extension extension.
Speaker 2 (01:16:07):
And a half and half said Booker Bookers.
Speaker 4 (01:16:11):
They said Booker costs himself money because if he waited,
he probably would have got more.
Speaker 2 (01:16:15):
And he said one hundred five million.
Speaker 5 (01:16:18):
He's a man of the people.
Speaker 2 (01:16:19):
He just and that team away. Cut that team. They
went to a finals in twenty two and ruined the
whole team.
Speaker 3 (01:16:26):
How is that possible, matt Ishbie, Yeah, you went that
you were up to your manager.
Speaker 5 (01:16:32):
Tomas not to mention Bradley Beal's making for.
Speaker 2 (01:16:36):
Twenty one. Actually, they were up to nothing. To the box.
Speaker 5 (01:16:42):
Eight and gone, Kim Johnson gone, Chris Paul gone.
Speaker 2 (01:16:45):
Gone badly. Ever, so they decided to get the rent
and they got Bridge gone, Bridge is gone. Everybody gone.
Speaker 5 (01:16:51):
Yeah, Bradley Beal's making fifty three million. Booker's gonna be
making seventy. Bradley Beal, to me is everything that's wrong
with the NBA. He's a guy that can.
Speaker 2 (01:17:00):
Twenty five a game, and he does, and he thinks
he is Michael Jordan and he wants to play on
a team where he can score. It's just like that
guy he just got drafted. Here's a guy didn't.
Speaker 4 (01:17:11):
Want to go to as Apell. We wants to go
somewhere where he can beat a man. That's wonderful. Yeah, great,
you're great.
Speaker 2 (01:17:16):
How about you you go to a team where maybe
you only score fifteen a game, but hey, maybe the team's.
Speaker 5 (01:17:21):
Good because they don't care about winning.
Speaker 3 (01:17:22):
Agent wants to get paid. I understand, guys score twenty
five a game, get paid. Hey, Sean uh Ace played
like the first game and he has not appeared since
for the team.
Speaker 2 (01:17:34):
Get heard too.
Speaker 5 (01:17:35):
He's played two.
Speaker 7 (01:17:36):
He looked really bad in the first one and was
pretty good in the second game there, so I think
he'll be fine in the overall long haul. But yet
it's another example of these guys not as not being
as available as we would have.
Speaker 4 (01:17:45):
Hoped, right right, great, did they have all Maybe he
should have been a six load management and in the
Las Vegas.
Speaker 2 (01:17:53):
League, absolutely, yeah, gotta have load mass.
Speaker 5 (01:17:55):
Well, these guys, all these guys are banged up already.
Speaker 2 (01:17:58):
The Jim bail Or have load man, I don't believe.
I don't think. I mean at least not to.
Speaker 5 (01:18:05):
Not to Bill Russell's out tonight. He's not playing back
to backs.
Speaker 2 (01:18:11):
And they made you think of that back then for
people that thought about this, they.
Speaker 3 (01:18:14):
All flew commercial and they had to get up and
get on the first point they playing.
Speaker 4 (01:18:18):
But people talk today those guys couldn't couldn't play in
today's world because they weren't in as good as shape.
Speaker 2 (01:18:26):
They weren't. Just that is such bull crap, Like Jim
Brown wouldn't be one of the best running.
Speaker 4 (01:18:31):
Backs in the NFL right now if he played Watch
the come on man, watch well, you know, he's not
as athletic as this guy.
Speaker 5 (01:18:38):
Yea god, Bill Russell's not playing the second half of
a back to back.
Speaker 4 (01:18:46):
Will Chamberlain could bench press a lot of players in
the NBA right now, but he's not physical enough who
he playing against?
Speaker 2 (01:18:52):
So he played against four Hall of famers. I don't
know the hell do I know? He played against Bill
Russell nine times a year. I didn't beat Bill Russell
all the time.
Speaker 3 (01:19:01):
But you know, we haven't had a Wilt from Mike
in a couple of weeks because I just don't get
the hook the I need a Mike Wilton.
Speaker 4 (01:19:08):
I feel bad because the other guy I think that
gets short change is Alcinder. Yeah, I mean Glcinder. I
just don't think he's as great as Will Kareem ap
Wiltiam Kareem, I'm sure.
Speaker 2 (01:19:17):
And young people don't know else.
Speaker 4 (01:19:19):
Yeah, And Bill Russell said this, like Bill Russell came
out and said, no, you don't get it.
Speaker 2 (01:19:25):
Will was Will you know I won more titles? I
you know, because I had and whatever Bill Russell was
was great.
Speaker 4 (01:19:31):
And there I saw Google recently YouTube Wilt in one
game one game blocked the skyhook twice.
Speaker 2 (01:19:39):
Wow.
Speaker 9 (01:19:40):
Nobody blocked the skyhook twice twice. My man, Bob Coosey's
still alive. Jesse is ninety six years now. Wow, he
was in the same draft class as Kyle Lowry, signing him.
Speaker 2 (01:19:57):
Our listeners are going Bob he was.
Speaker 3 (01:20:00):
He was the point guard on the early great Celtics
team played at Holy Cross.
Speaker 4 (01:20:04):
Know what I remember about Bob And you're gonna're gonna
love this because it was fifty years ago when Temple
won the n i T in sixty eight or sixty
sixty nine college they beat Boston College in the final.
Speaker 2 (01:20:14):
Bob and that was the last game Bob coached. I believe,
I believe he.
Speaker 4 (01:20:17):
Was they times and they gave the MVP to a
guy from Boston College because I guess you wrote it
with five minutes ago in the game and John Bomb
shout Johnny. But back then the n i T was
a big deal and Temple winning that was like a
big deal. They were the last team in of that
I think it was sixteen team to twelve. Yeah, they
were the last time.
Speaker 3 (01:20:36):
They won it.
Speaker 6 (01:20:37):
They won it.
Speaker 2 (01:20:38):
Yeah, we'll go to break, but those were the days
for again, the n i T is now.
Speaker 3 (01:20:43):
It's moved to Indianapolis, and it's because nobody really is
all that interested.
Speaker 4 (01:20:48):
Al McGuire one year was mad at the NC Double A.
They wanted to put him in the Mid East instead
of the Midwell.
Speaker 3 (01:20:55):
So now I'm gonna go to the n T to
New York and back in the day the Menager right, Yeah,
it was such a big deal because all sixteen teams
went to New York City and as long as you won,
you got.
Speaker 2 (01:21:03):
To keep playing. It was awesome. Two weeks in New
York in March was a pretty good deal for college
hoops players that are in there. And now they don't
point New York's not part of it anymore. News a
couple of years ago, it's just a shame.
Speaker 3 (01:21:16):
I mean, the Guarden, the Guard, come on and it's
in Hickelfield. That's that's fine, especially in eighth the Guard.
Speaker 4 (01:21:20):
When you think about for the teams that went there,
they weren't the marquee teams usually. I mean it was
like in Indiana State or something like that, and then
those kids to New York.
Speaker 2 (01:21:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:21:29):
Absolutely, man, I've been there for I've been part of
two radio calls for Knit Championships. Pet State's the legends.
They're the knit legends up there?
Speaker 2 (01:21:38):
Did you cover? Wasn't this the Saint Joe game up there?
Speaker 3 (01:21:41):
When they Joe's lost to the finals twice? One time,
poor Pat Carroll had a three to tie the game
against South Carolina. The year after the Pat Carroll had
to three that put him ahead against Oklahoma State to
go to the final. Corps kids from South Carolina came
down three at the buzzer to beat them.
Speaker 2 (01:22:00):
Pat Carroll was this close to having two shots.
Speaker 3 (01:22:02):
Right, one to get there, final four, one to get
the final four. Yeah, he made a shot with thirty
seconds left. They doubled Team Jamier and he slipped it
out to him at the top of the key, knocked
it out. And then John, did you have a decent
pro career? I'm trying to remember playing Europe for a while. Yeah, yeah,
he was not an NBA. He could shoot though, right, Yeah,
I remember that great left hand and shoot for sure.
(01:22:23):
From a great shooting family. His brother Matt played it
notre date, had a really good career hat Burrow Horse
and then and he was in the Googee team. He
was John Carrol, who I see regular either dead and
he told me he was starting to come out of
the standuns. He was behind Phil the beat up Chaney
looked like he was ready to over the shot. It's
a pretty big guy himself, and the elbow missed. We're

Speaker 3 (01:24:12):
I am Dictorarati along with Mike Kern and Kyle Nunnamaker,
and we will turn our lonely eyes to the NFL
training campus is a couple of weeks away. Eagles, of
course trained in South Philly at the Novacare Complex. They
do not have not for years, traveled to Lehigh and
before that Westchester, way back in the.
Speaker 2 (01:24:34):
Day, way back in the day. Oh is that right way?
Speaker 4 (01:24:37):
Hershey, hershey, further back in the day.
Speaker 3 (01:24:41):
Speaking off Ray didn't dur good friend, longtime Daily News colleague.
He said the other day that this is the first
time in his memory, and his memory goes back longer
than anybody's. Did the Eagles enter the season as the
best team in the NFL.
Speaker 2 (01:25:00):
Do you mean the betting favorite or they have the
best team going into the season.
Speaker 3 (01:25:06):
First time Yeah, yeah, crazy Ray Ray goes back in
the fifties watching Eagles football.
Speaker 2 (01:25:13):
That's a that's probably He's probably accurate.
Speaker 4 (01:25:16):
I mean, I'm trying to think that the twenty four
team was really good coming back, but they had all
the problems with the Patriots. Would have been the face Sure, yeah,
I mean it's it's and I don't know if people
were aware it is. But going back, I went back
as far as I could go back. Philadelphia has never
had two champions in the same year. So if the
(01:25:38):
Phillies were to win the World Series first, as far
as I can tell, they've come close a few times,
Like you know, we had teams in finals and things
like that. Yeah, I mean, look, nobody repeats in a
lot of sports anymore.
Speaker 2 (01:25:52):
It's just hard. So the Eagles are glad.
Speaker 4 (01:25:54):
And they're gonna get everybody's best Shotel's tough playoff, but
we said the schedule was tough a couple of years
ago they were ten and one. It just fell apart
the end. So I would take like, if you said
Eagles in the field, I'm taking the field because that's
just what I do. But yeah, I mean, if you
look around.
Speaker 2 (01:26:10):
The league, I mean, who I mean in the last
two games last year, they beat the Washington by thirty,
they beat the Chiefs by thirty. The Rams certainly gave
him a.
Speaker 3 (01:26:21):
Game, beat Green Bay pretty handling green Bank first, and
I think the Washington game would have been closer if
they didn't force all those turnovers.
Speaker 2 (01:26:29):
But that's part of football. So but you look at
the team. Their line is really good, right, one of
the best in the league. Offensive star two wide receivers
are two of the best three or four in the league.
Speaker 3 (01:26:39):
They put up a thing on ESPN the other day,
best combination wide receivers. Quarterback and Eagles number one, it's
gotta be Cincinnati number.
Speaker 2 (01:26:49):
I'm just saying, if you go pos running back, you
know quarterback, there's a few that are better than Jailen
But for what he does in this team five tight
end really and now the defense has questions. They got
to fill some spots.
Speaker 5 (01:27:02):
You have two of the best young cornerbacks in the league.
Speaker 3 (01:27:05):
They do.
Speaker 4 (01:27:06):
You know, they've got a linebacker who's who was almost
Defensive Player of the year.
Speaker 2 (01:27:09):
Now what is he going to do it again?
Speaker 3 (01:27:11):
You got Jalen Carter, who many people now do some
of the other parts have to fit in. I don't
know what if the end's gonna come back.
Speaker 2 (01:27:18):
He's hurt.
Speaker 5 (01:27:20):
Ni Kobe is gonna be out for a while.
Speaker 2 (01:27:23):
The guy that they.
Speaker 4 (01:27:26):
The guy that they drafted, who's the guy. Who's the
guy's name? I can never the other guy from Georgia
in the middle, Jordan Davis. Jordan Davis, he's got to
take a step up.
Speaker 2 (01:27:35):
Been helpful. But again they have this questions of safety.
Speaker 3 (01:27:38):
They don't they don't have as many defensive linemen that
they usually have to think about.
Speaker 2 (01:27:43):
Think about what we were asking last last year at
this time, we thought the fifteenth best defense.
Speaker 4 (01:27:48):
If they were lucky, they were number one, number one
the offense, and I think they basically.
Speaker 3 (01:27:54):
They're gonna score. They're going and they're going to score
different this year. Barkley's probably gonna rush for fourteen hundred
you know whatever down.
Speaker 4 (01:28:03):
Down here for Barkley, I'm buying the fact that every
guy that's rushed for two thousand or gotten close to
because he.
Speaker 3 (01:28:10):
Touched the ball at four hundred times this year. But
you know what, so and who who's their backup, because
their backup might get a little more time this year.
Speaker 5 (01:28:18):
Well, they signed aj Dillon will Shipley taking a step up.
Speaker 4 (01:28:22):
I'm okay with that because I think my quarterback. I
think my quarterback can carry me sometimes when he has to. Hey,
he's not the guy in Buffalo. He's not the guy.
But you know what, he's been in two Super Bowls
in the last three years, and he was.
Speaker 5 (01:28:34):
And he was the best player both because he doesn't
throw for four thousand yards.
Speaker 4 (01:28:38):
And doesn't matter. He also beats you with his legs. Yeah,
so yeah, I don't now or he was going to.
I think if they win twelve games would be a
really good season over them, and then you get in
the playoffs and somebody's got to beat him, and if
they got to beat him, here might be trouble. Although
I got I got to give the Rams credit though
(01:28:58):
they play them, they did show Miss Stafford's a dog.
That's another team I never talked about in the NFL.
Speaker 2 (01:29:05):
They're good.
Speaker 5 (01:29:06):
They're good.
Speaker 2 (01:29:06):
I don't know they're on their last I don't know
what San Francisco is going to be, but they could be. Okay.
Speaker 3 (01:29:12):
Their whole team got hurt last year. Yeah, they got
rid of a lot of guys they did. I don't
know if they're gonna be They have signed a quarterback,
which is I don't know if they're gonna be.
Speaker 4 (01:29:23):
One for reason. Yeah, the Rams are the team to
beat in the West. I think the Cardinals. I can
never stand the Cardinals.
Speaker 2 (01:29:30):
I just don't. And I don't like Seattle. I'm not
but Donald all Darnald at the helm.
Speaker 4 (01:29:36):
All four teams in the NFC North could be good.
How good, I don't know. I don't think they're gonna
have two fourteen win teams again.
Speaker 5 (01:29:43):
Or South was gonna stink? Yeah, I mean I think
the most.
Speaker 4 (01:29:47):
Interesting question I said, I think Dallas is going to
win ten eleven games. I think the most interesting questions
what is Washington going to be? Yeah, because if Jade
and Daniel continues to get better.
Speaker 6 (01:30:00):
To be c J.
Speaker 2 (01:30:00):
Stroud and go backwards and sophomore, we're as good.
Speaker 10 (01:30:05):
Yeah, I mean theycaus Houston was a team last year.
Everybody was like, oh Houston sure and that injuries. Yeah,
injuries are such a part. I mean, look Detroit last year.
If they don't lose twenty five guys, I mean whole defense.
Speaker 3 (01:30:15):
Yeah, but the Eagles were relatively injury free last year,
right they were?
Speaker 5 (01:30:20):
They weren't you know, which is a big thing. Washington
had a good off season as well. I mean they
went out, got debo, they got lot Yeah, they re
signed Zach Ertz. They have a good offensive line, their
defense can be a little shaky.
Speaker 2 (01:30:34):
Their offensive fine, their defenses below. And they won a
couple of games last year. I mean they won the
Hill Merry game and you know, so things.
Speaker 3 (01:30:41):
Went for the Eagles. They were fortunately they were trying
to lose that game and they won the home game.
Play Yeah, fifty four day September fourth, you said the
Eagles are six to one, six and a half to one,
six and a half.
Speaker 2 (01:30:51):
That's not a bad bet. Although teams don't repeat, that's
the problem.
Speaker 3 (01:30:55):
Except Kansas City just a Philadelphia minus seven over Dallas,
which the money line, Uh, the Eagles.
Speaker 2 (01:31:03):
Will not lose the home opener to the Cowboys.
Speaker 3 (01:31:06):
You want the money line, Yeah, because I don't know
about the seven seven you.
Speaker 11 (01:31:10):
Know minus three fifteen that's a lot. Yeah, but that
but that's what the bookies are telling you. They don't
think they're going to lose the game in Yeah, why
is that three fifteen and there and the line's only seven,
But that's what it is. That's that's if that makes sense.
Speaker 2 (01:31:23):
Okay, yeah, that's that's the play the three fifteen lay
the three fifty.
Speaker 5 (01:31:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:31:28):
Do you think about at parlay PSG. Do you think
that's gonna lose the Cowboys out?
Speaker 6 (01:31:34):
No?
Speaker 2 (01:31:35):
I think that the NFL did them the biggest favorite
they could have given because they could have given them Detroit.
They could have given him Washington. I don't think they.
Speaker 5 (01:31:43):
Could have great week one.
Speaker 2 (01:31:44):
I don't want Washington Week one. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:31:46):
Well, I want the Detroit game to be mid season,
late season where you're both at your best. I want
to see him.
Speaker 2 (01:31:51):
There's the schedules out right. Oh yeah, when is the
Detroit Week two?
Speaker 5 (01:31:56):
No, I think it's in November, I think, and it's here, correct, leave,
so it is here November sixteenth, which is a night game.
Speaker 2 (01:32:11):
Oh, they got a lot of prime time games there.
Speaker 5 (01:32:12):
I know that is a Sunday night for Sunday night,
and they go they go to k That's what I want.
Speaker 4 (01:32:19):
That's probably they go to Kansas City. Who else do
they get? They get they play some good teams, all.
Speaker 2 (01:32:26):
The good teams.
Speaker 5 (01:32:27):
Yeah, all the good teams they're I mean at the
Green Bay.
Speaker 4 (01:32:30):
They get a break with that Tampa game. But I'm
telling you they never played Tampa. Well, no, and they're
going to Tampa and I guess it's late September.
Speaker 5 (01:32:37):
Or early October. Yeah, they're Tampa is September twenty eighth.
Speaker 3 (01:32:41):
Well, it'll be hot, it'll be hot, but their tackles
is probably not going to play.
Speaker 2 (01:32:45):
And he's good.
Speaker 5 (01:32:47):
I mean, they don't really have a break in the
schedule except for Giants. Two out of three weeks they
play the Giants.
Speaker 2 (01:32:54):
They get the Giants again two out of three.
Speaker 5 (01:32:55):
Weeks October ninth at the Meadowlands. Then they traveled Innnesota
and then they come back to Giants Aga Giants.
Speaker 2 (01:33:03):
Yeah, Giants. So they go to Minnesota.
Speaker 5 (01:33:06):
That could be a tough game at Minnesota. Ak Green
Bay and.
Speaker 2 (01:33:10):
They're over on their numbers. What eleven and a half?
The Bears are.
Speaker 5 (01:33:13):
Here, Bears are here at the Chargers. You get the
Raiders here, Kyle is the number eleven and a half.
Speaker 2 (01:33:21):
Some get let's say.
Speaker 6 (01:33:26):
Where we are.
Speaker 2 (01:33:26):
I thought I thought I saw like eleven and a half.
But all right, so here's the here's the Week one
games that are of interest. Mike.
Speaker 3 (01:33:33):
I know you're interested in this. Jacksonville minus two and
a half against Carolina. Carolina was playing well the last
six weeks. Press Young looked like, yeah, figure trying to
put it together, right, So that's a that's a thought.
Speaker 5 (01:33:47):
Eleven eleven and a half.
Speaker 2 (01:33:48):
Eleven and a half. Yeah, that's a good number. I
mean I would probably take the over. The over is
plus one oh five. I was probably yeah, and didn't
Jack doesn't Jackson have a new coach because what's his name?
Got whack? Peterson got Dougie got waxed. Who's their quarterback?
It's oh, it's the guy from Clemson. It's still Trevor.
Trevor last the rookie Jacksonville to see. I hate Week
(01:34:08):
one games because games are.
Speaker 3 (01:34:10):
Like their exhibition games now because nobody plus for actually
the first three or four games are exhibitions. I got
in one of those pools where you got to pick
a winner every week, and the thing that the pool
was gone after three weeks.
Speaker 2 (01:34:22):
We're all out.
Speaker 5 (01:34:23):
That's insane.
Speaker 2 (01:34:24):
I tied.
Speaker 3 (01:34:24):
I was like at a twelve way tie. I put
up two hundred and one, like, got back nine hundred.
What's what's the best Week one games?
Speaker 8 (01:34:30):
Wait?
Speaker 6 (01:34:31):
What do we got?
Speaker 3 (01:34:32):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (01:34:33):
The Eagles are Thursday Night, right, that's the traditional Thursday
night is correct?
Speaker 6 (01:34:39):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (01:34:39):
About Aaron Rodgers going back to the meadow lands. We
have Steelers at Jets, Steelers from.
Speaker 5 (01:34:46):
Chiefs at Chargers.
Speaker 2 (01:34:49):
Kyle, who do you get Lions at Packers? That's a
great game, Kyle, who do you.
Speaker 5 (01:34:54):
Get Ravens too at Kansas City?
Speaker 2 (01:34:57):
And but they're gonna have an extra three days?
Speaker 6 (01:34:59):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:34:59):
Okay, Rado one, you just said Ravens. What Ravens at
Bills Sunday Night Football that's the first week and then Monday,
Monday Night Football, Viking at Bear No. I like the
I like the Ravens like. So I'm going to guess
the Bills are going to be favored by field goal.
Speaker 5 (01:35:17):
Bills are one and a half point favored one one
and a half at bed point and a half At
the moment and a half, man, I might have to.
Speaker 3 (01:35:25):
Take the Bills beat him in Buffalo in Buffalo to
get to the AFC Championship Game, where they lost again
to Kansas City in Kansas City.
Speaker 4 (01:35:34):
You know what, when you think about last year, in
all seriousness, the most remarkable thing is Kansas City won
as many games.
Speaker 2 (01:35:40):
As they did and got to the Super Bowl.
Speaker 6 (01:35:42):
They good.
Speaker 3 (01:35:44):
They won every game by three points. Their defense won
all the games, and then their offense was so bad
the Super Bowl. The defense eventually caves because they gave.
Speaker 2 (01:35:51):
Up too many interceptions.
Speaker 4 (01:35:55):
But it'll be interesting to me to see how Mahomes
comes back from that, because I think he was embarrassed.
Speaker 2 (01:36:00):
He Shomb's won three Super Bowls. But Week zero, Mike,
August twenty third, Temple at Oklahoma. No, Oklahoma, Oklahoma comes here, Kyle,
Oklahoma's at September thirteen. Yeah, we should do our show
from down there, no question.
Speaker 5 (01:36:17):
Should I see if there's a line out for that?
Speaker 2 (01:36:20):
There's a line at the ticket window?
Speaker 5 (01:36:22):
Oh, yeah, I'm sure there is.
Speaker 3 (01:36:23):
I would not do that if I were Week zero Mike.
I'm looking for some games that you'd be interested in.
But oh, there's a real good Florida's State Alabama at
Florida State minus North.
Speaker 2 (01:36:37):
Florida State hasn't been good. Well, No, last year, they
were good the year before that.
Speaker 3 (01:36:41):
That can't be at That's got to be like a
neutral field game, doesn't it. Maybe maybe Alabama's not going
to Florida.
Speaker 2 (01:36:47):
Maybe they got a home at home. It just says
there is I know el Georgia Tech at Colorado coach print. Yeah,
but there's a better one.
Speaker 3 (01:36:56):
LSU Texas at Ohio State on August thirty, right, week one, and.
Speaker 4 (01:37:03):
LSU is at Clemson early, real early. Really, that's why
college football is so good.
Speaker 3 (01:37:10):
LSU getting three at Clempson. I like one o'clock. I
like Taggers Purples week one.
Speaker 2 (01:37:20):
Yeah, that's why college football is so good because Clemson.
Speaker 3 (01:37:23):
Doesn't have to play LSU. All right, here you go
at Betparks. Guess the spread within three Week one, one pm,
Beaver Stadium in Penn State, Nevada.
Speaker 2 (01:37:37):
Oh my god, I don't know much about Nevada. You
don't need to that much. Thirty seven and a half,
thirty four and a half, forty five and a half.
We were low.
Speaker 5 (01:37:47):
We gave Nevada too much credit. And here's another one.
Speaker 3 (01:37:50):
Guess the bet Park spread. Week zero, one o'clock in Amherst, Mass.
Mike Temple at UMass Kyle you two Temple lumps k.
Speaker 2 (01:38:02):
Cy Keiller's first game, k Killer. I'll say U, Mass
giving three?
Speaker 5 (01:38:09):
Say you Mass you Mass giving seven and a half
in a.
Speaker 3 (01:38:14):
Rarey unknown demand, Al's a road favorite minus one Park
Marcus Camby has no longer has eligibilla.
Speaker 2 (01:38:25):
You realized that how could Temple be a road? Where
was the last When was the last time at Penn State?
When was the last time? State?
Speaker 4 (01:38:32):
Will start a season ranked as high as they're going
to be ranked. They're going to be in the top five.
I don't know where they're going to end, no doubt.
I mean, I guess Ohio State is one. You would
think Texas is right up there. Penn State could be three. Yeah,
they could be, and they probably should be. I looked
at their schedule.
Speaker 2 (01:38:50):
I mean they gotta go to Ohio State, Michigan, Oregon
at home, the knits, I mean set up for it
is set up for them.
Speaker 4 (01:39:00):
I mean they should be. I shouldn't say this because
they got to probably beat Ohihan. They could very well
be in the Big Ten title game.
Speaker 2 (01:39:07):
Right yeah, But the problem is they can't beat Ohio State. Well,
they got to beat them sometime, right, really, Yeah, I
get that's a problem. It's been a problem. It's been
a problem.
Speaker 3 (01:39:17):
Last year they made the title game because Ohio State
and managed to thes two other games.
Speaker 2 (01:39:21):
It's I forgot about They played hard, that's light. I
forgot what where's my mind?
Speaker 3 (01:39:27):
Don't But yeah, I mean they, But yeah, I mean
only because they Ohio State lost too big times the
two their losses with Oregon last year, Oh no, no, no,
Ohio State lost the.
Speaker 2 (01:39:35):
Oregon and at one point they lost them.
Speaker 3 (01:39:37):
Then they blew the game against Michigan somehow somewhere where
nobody's yet know.
Speaker 4 (01:39:41):
They haven't beaten Michigan since nineteen Yes, they didn't play
one year because of COVID four or five in a round.
Four four in a round not good. But they won
a national title, so I think they might forgive them.
Maybe they take that stuff seriously out there in Ohio State.
They take No, they sank it so seriously. While they
were in the midst of beating Notre Dame to win
(01:40:02):
the national title.
Speaker 2 (01:40:02):
I know, I told you.
Speaker 3 (01:40:03):
I texted our good friend Todd Jones, who worked for
the Columbus Dispass for years, and said, are they going
to be happier about winning the title with this coach
or man or about him losing to Michigan again?
Speaker 2 (01:40:13):
He said, absolutely, losing the Michigan.
Speaker 5 (01:40:16):
No, it's an Unfreeiyboddy got their priority street.
Speaker 2 (01:40:20):
They for some reason, they all they take that more,
you know, like they don't like that now, they don't
like them at all, not even a little bit. No,
not even a little bit. Are they happy about that?
Speaker 3 (01:40:32):
Which?
Speaker 2 (01:40:32):
What's the line on the Texas Ohio State team?
Speaker 3 (01:40:35):
I'm curious, see could let me go back to bet
Park three and a half Ohio State?
Speaker 2 (01:40:39):
See what we got there?
Speaker 3 (01:40:41):
And clarch Man that could literally could be one versus
two to open the sea.
Speaker 4 (01:40:46):
Probably will be right, I'm minus three correct. Yeah, I'm
guessing they're gonna be one two and I'm guessing past
fifty and a half over under paste it will be three.
Speaker 2 (01:40:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:40:55):
I like that.
Speaker 2 (01:40:56):
Georgia will be there somewhere, Georgia. I'm trying to think
who else is supposed to be really good? Alabama and
the coach might get fired if they.
Speaker 5 (01:41:04):
Lose the opener, you be gone fourteen point favorites.
Speaker 2 (01:41:07):
They don't make the playoffs, he could be in trouble.
Are we expanding the playoffs this year?
Speaker 4 (01:41:13):
I think this years will stay the same as it
did lit there, but they're twelve. They're changing the way
to receive them. Boise State won't be like the four seeds.
Speaker 3 (01:41:21):
They're not getting about. No, Arizona State not getting about No. Yeah,
actually makes sense. Every once in a while, you like
things that makes sense.
Speaker 2 (01:41:30):
That's say long the best team won, so I can't argue.
Speaker 4 (01:41:34):
I think it was a joke that Ohio State and
Oregon met I think it was a joke for Oregon
that they had to play him in that first game.
Speaker 1 (01:41:39):
But you know what.
Speaker 5 (01:41:42):
They already had. They already have Ohio State Michigan November
minus five.
Speaker 3 (01:41:46):
Yeah, at Michigan Ohio State. It is a great gotta
love Bett parks Man November twenty nine. Yeah, supposed people
want to bet on that stuff, and they'll jump in
right now. They don't care that Ohio States.
Speaker 4 (01:41:56):
I'm going to tell you something right now, there's not
many coaches in the country who have more pressure on
them than the guy at Penn State.
Speaker 2 (01:42:03):
And there's a few. I mean, it's college football. There's
always gonna be a few.
Speaker 3 (01:42:06):
Well, look their backfield, and I'm not gonna get this
number exactly right, it's probably like a ten billion dollars
back counting the quarterback and the two great running backs. Yeah,
you know, all of whom could have. I think they
left for the him. The receivers aren't as good this year.
As that maybe they need to be to be well,
they're better than the bunch they had last was the problem, right,
the tight end was real good last year. Yeah, but
(01:42:28):
what I'm saying is a lot of people say the
only reason they got to the semi finals they year
was because of the way to playoffs schedule got.
Speaker 2 (01:42:34):
He kind of blew that game. The interception was not
that was a good play.
Speaker 3 (01:42:40):
Yeah, whether you blame him or the quarterback that there's
not a play that should have been made. Yeah, they
I mean they had the game won and then all
of a sudden their defense falls apart against Notre Dame
in the semifinals.
Speaker 2 (01:42:51):
I don't think they would have been I was stating
the ch probably not anyway, but we've seen stranger things.
Speaker 3 (01:42:56):
Nice to be there, but hey, look they've they've had
a lot of really really really good years. But the
reality is they haven't won. They actually haven't won the
titles since eighty six, that's right. I mean the ninety
four teams should have at least.
Speaker 2 (01:43:10):
Tied for them. I always consider them co national titles.
But yeah, they've had some very good teams one lost teams.
But do you realize this guy's been there like a decade.
I didn't know. I lose track of that sometimes. But
he's been there a while.
Speaker 3 (01:43:24):
Well, you know, he's been there longer than that, Mike,
because Joe's twelve years twenty eleven. O'Brien was there for
two years, and James has been there fourteen. It's been
there ever since, yes, twenty thirteen. Yeah, and look, he
walked into a difficult spot. They're very competitive and they're
really good, and they beat all the teams they're supposed
to be the year after year.
Speaker 2 (01:43:46):
But they can't beat the two teams in the league
they need to beat.
Speaker 4 (01:43:49):
They never lose the teams that they should that they shouldn't, like,
they almost never lose that game, but they almost never
win that game.
Speaker 2 (01:43:57):
Yeah, yeah, and it's.
Speaker 3 (01:43:59):
Just it's I mean that unfortunately, that's the world. Especially
now that people are getting paid. It's even more of
a big deal that you're spar I mean, they're not
even quasi professional athletes anymore. They essentially are professional athletes.
So uh yeah, and then everybody gets mad and people
getting the problem.
Speaker 2 (01:44:17):
That's what the problem. Just get me.
Speaker 4 (01:44:19):
The biggest problem I have with the Next State and
Penn State isn't the only team that falls into this,
but it's our team.
Speaker 2 (01:44:24):
So every year they play like a three game schedule.
Speaker 4 (01:44:27):
I mean, you look at their non league is always
trash yep, okay, And I understand why they do it.
Speaker 2 (01:44:32):
I get it. But and then so the Wildcats, wildcats,
Wildcats are going on the air. Yeah, yeah, Wildcats. And
but again, when you only play and that's why I
always gave like Alabama credit because they would go out
every year and play somebody in the in their three
and then in the SEC, obviously they're going to play
(01:44:53):
some somebody because that's older are in the SEC. You
realize how Bama missed the playoffs issue because they lost
the Vanderbilt in Oklahoma. Yeah, that's not a good that's
not good. Twenty four to three at Oklahoma.
Speaker 4 (01:45:06):
Oklahoma stunk three points, score three points with Jalen Milrow.
Speaker 3 (01:45:12):
Oh, well, what do you think the spread will be
when the Sooners come to the Link to play the
Ols forty something?
Speaker 2 (01:45:20):
Well, unless unless they've beaten you matched by fifty, the
Owls are unbeaten.
Speaker 5 (01:45:23):
At that point, the Owls might be ranked.
Speaker 2 (01:45:25):
Well, they only have two games before that, and I
think it's you Mass and Howard so they could be
two and oh about that, but the two and oh.
Speaker 4 (01:45:32):
Yeah, that's going to be a forty. I think we
got well home field of Vange. It might only be
thirty five.
Speaker 5 (01:45:37):
Penn State is currently a twenty nine and a half
point four over the Wildcats.
Speaker 2 (01:45:44):
Now, oh, what's Oklahoma and the Sooners in Temple?
Speaker 5 (01:45:47):
I tried to find that I couldn't find.
Speaker 4 (01:45:49):
They want to see how the owls wise action.
Speaker 2 (01:45:53):
Hey, I'm rooting. Look, I'm mooting for Casey. He's a
good guy, had a great career. Now he's tackling the
most difficult chose the whole thing. Think it's been great.
All right?
Speaker 3 (01:46:05):
