Speaker 2 (02:00):
Said the Phillies Last night, Kyle Schwarber over thirty five
home runs again he had two last night, as they
come from minds, only one behind the Tany bludget the
Yankees last night, Semnies, you have on the season, make
thirty six?
Speaker 3 (02:13):
Oh, Tany's got thirty seven.
Speaker 4 (02:14):
I guess judge is around how much money is great
and we'll talk about this later.
Speaker 3 (02:19):
How much money is Kyle Schwarber making all of the
money And everybody thinks he's just well, he's going to
come back to the Phillies. Well, you know what, let's
open market slugger. He's it's his last big contract. He's
getting a big number. Yep.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
Phillies are still not in first place. The Mets one
life last night in San Francisco, but they're starting to
get some space in the wild card. If they end
up in that spot. Those things you said are all true.
That's what I hope that to say.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
You've been telling us.
Speaker 4 (02:48):
For weeks them just as close to it, and I'm
like I was waking, I was making it up.
Speaker 3 (02:52):
They could be like somebody was running down the other
day like that.
Speaker 4 (02:56):
If the playoff start, they'd be playing Milwaukee in the
was it the club Milwaukee?
Speaker 3 (03:00):
Well in the two? Sure? In the first round? Three games?
I really, well, that ain't good. We got sixty games
to go to. Games of God. And the good news
is they're finally starting to hit.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
You can make a case now because real Muto has
played great for weeks now, and assuming Boom is coming
back at some point, now you have a top six,
you can feel fairly confident. And now that Harper didn't
he was over four last night, but he's been good. Turner,
What do you have five hits last night, four or five.
I think he went he went Kes the first baseman. Yeah, No,
Harper's back again Opra four last night. But he's been
(03:34):
on a great roll.
Speaker 4 (03:35):
So they're all the way down to real muta where
you figured you're fairly comfortable. Obviously, the bottom of the
line about your three outfield or seventy eight nine right
the bottom of the.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
Lineup sticks centerfield, left field and second base. They're no good.
Speaker 2 (03:45):
But at least you can have six and you know
the pitching is going to be there, so that is promising.
I don't know if anybody saw any of this last night.
It is on TV somewhere, but Nick Kirtz, the rookie
for the Open A's last night.
Speaker 3 (04:00):
Was about the.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
Excuse me, the Sacramento, Las Vegas, Oakland, Kansas City, as
in Philadelphia, whoever they have the beautiful ball he is
Nick Kurt's the rookie had four home runs last night
and missed a fifth by about a foot. In Houston
last night, he had I don't know what position he plays,
nineteen total bases, six for six, title major league record
(04:23):
for total bases in a game, and he was the
fourth overall pick last year in the draft, Mike, if
you could tell me what college he went to?
Speaker 3 (04:32):
You went old? Which his name?
Speaker 4 (04:34):
I kerts Okay, colstona barber, give me a baseball school
at Lee ls Well wasn't lsu.
Speaker 3 (04:43):
I would have known him.
Speaker 4 (04:44):
You would have known him while she was good. I mean,
his name probably would have popped out.
Speaker 3 (04:48):
You gotta guys for me. I know who, I know
what it is. The answer is wake Forest Wow. Nick Kirks,
he's a he's a Lancaster fella. Yeah, but guy.
Speaker 4 (04:57):
Twenty three home runs in sixty six games this year.
Speaker 3 (05:01):
Not to mention the three zero five betting end after
last night.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
And I will mention this because it was about a
month ago when I told you about my bet on
the Orioles to win the American League in the World Series.
And this will be the last mentioned on this show
of the Orioles. They had gone twenty four and fourteen,
they were playing great, they were all set to make
their move, and since then they have gone two and
(05:27):
eight and they bad teams too.
Speaker 5 (05:29):
Right.
Speaker 4 (05:30):
Well, Cleveland is okay, Yeah, Cleveland's hanging around.
Speaker 3 (05:34):
Last night was the end.
Speaker 4 (05:36):
They're leading at home against the fifty games under five
hundred Rockies four to nothing and have their entire lineup.
They've gone they haven't even gone through it once and
they have four home runs and they lose six to
five for solo homes home. Yes, wow, it's been nice
knowing you all. It's been nice nowing my money and
(05:57):
the relief pitchers on the ildal again to them.
Speaker 3 (06:00):
Yeah, that's that's they've blown somebody. They're only nine games
out there there. I'm done with that. No more mentions.
Speaker 4 (06:08):
How about this the guy who hit the four home runs? Yes,
the double that it almost went out in eight other
parks would because Houston's not well, that's in New Houston.
Speaker 3 (06:19):
It's not the Olds. It's like a high wall wall.
Speaker 4 (06:22):
I'm trying to think though, if that's a home run.
The old us A Dome was not a home run park,
but I think this is more. You can hit in
this park a little bit. The guy from Houston in
the World Series certainly hit one that won about nine hundred. Oh,
I know there's a train out there. If you hit
the train out, you did well.
Speaker 3 (06:39):
And there's been no five home run games in the history,
and this.
Speaker 4 (06:42):
Was the twentieth four hunt run Schmidty nineteen seventy six
fields some very famous players on this list and some
very Yeah he's one of will we mean yeah, it's
a very non famous players that you've.
Speaker 3 (06:55):
Never heard of. This is actually the second time it
happened this year.
Speaker 6 (06:58):
Yeah, I had no I it was Seawan Green is
the other player who had four home runs and six hits, right.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
Nineteen total bases and you know who was it? I
mean yeah, he was just So.
Speaker 4 (07:12):
Has there been more perfect games or four home run games?
It's close, I guess twenty.
Speaker 3 (07:18):
Let me see how many. I think there's been a
couple more perfect games. There might be.
Speaker 2 (07:22):
Yeah, well look that up anyway that I'm done with
the Earls, here's the good news. I've betts where the
Oriols win their next they stay. Okay, I just made
a bad.
Speaker 3 (07:31):
Twenty four perfect games, four close.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
I made a bad beat. But here's the good news.
After I left here last Saturday, Mike, where'd I say?
I was going Mama's Park for the hospital. I was
going there with my Let's Go Racing partner Danny Gibson.
By the way, was her bachelorette party. She was getting
married the next day.
Speaker 4 (07:49):
Yes, she was so he went to celebrate at the
Haskell and I was playing the Haskell Contest against There
were two hundred and eighty eight total entries, and I
finished for Wow with one bet. With one bet, I
bet five hundred to win on a twelve to one
shot named Fierce and Strong, and Race nine turned my
(08:09):
five hundred into sixty five hundred.
Speaker 3 (08:12):
That was enough. I got the sixty.
Speaker 4 (08:14):
So you had not bet the first eight races, I
had none, and then you had to bet five races
at one hundred apiece, so I bet four more at
one hundred to show to.
Speaker 3 (08:21):
Preserve what I had.
Speaker 4 (08:23):
You got the sixty five, you got the six thousand,
You got eighteen thousand for first prize, and you got
a ten thousand dollars free entry into the Breeders Cup
contest at the end of the year, where the first
prize is like three hundred thousand.
Speaker 6 (08:34):
I love that I didn't know this information. And I
still got a text from Tick Girardi that night about
the Orioles. Are the Baltimore Orioles are living rent free
in your head?
Speaker 4 (08:44):
Yes, that's why I just said I'm done. Are your
news is? I won real money less? I lost one hundred.
That's how my ools and my daughter's cup.
Speaker 3 (08:53):
Yeah. Now, but he's going to come up with another.
There'll be a bet in football.
Speaker 4 (08:58):
You'll come up with one like the twenty you know Eagles,
where I had Actually, you know.
Speaker 3 (09:03):
If you had bet that last year?
Speaker 4 (09:05):
Yeah, because they did win what sixteen or the last
seventeen I guess it was, and they should have it
should have been seventeen or seventeen.
Speaker 2 (09:13):
Yeah, But anyway, it's just it was a fun bet
while it lasted for a month.
Speaker 3 (09:17):
Well, they played well for me, and now they they
gave you something to roof for it. That's right.
Speaker 2 (09:20):
And now I don't have to look up the scores anymore,
which is which is a good thing that I'm happy about.
Speaker 3 (09:26):
We have golf.
Speaker 4 (09:27):
They are in Minnesota today, Mike. I'm done with golf
that so you're like me in the ools. This golf
pool that I'm in is so irritating. So I had
Rory McIlroy last week. He won't going to win, Yes,
you did.
Speaker 3 (09:40):
Now.
Speaker 4 (09:41):
The other thing is that ten other people had Rory,
so it really wouldn't make if Rory would have finished,
but he should have finished second or third.
Speaker 3 (09:47):
He's on the eighth and ninth hole on Sunday. Yes,
with a wedge in his hand. You needed him in
the top five, Well, yeah, it would.
Speaker 4 (09:54):
I mean he finished like eighth way like I said,
it didn't really make a difference.
Speaker 3 (09:57):
But I'm watching, I'm getting irritated.
Speaker 4 (09:59):
He has a win edge in his hand forty feet
to twice in a row.
Speaker 3 (10:03):
And the commentator said, he goes, he's Rory King.
Speaker 4 (10:06):
Well, you gotta at least put it ten feet if
you make the putt, you make the putt. He's that good.
And you know, and then and and you can just
tell you got deflated. Nobody was catching Scotty. He goes, Scotty,
he was Scotty.
Speaker 3 (10:18):
Very anti but he could have made a little bit,
you know whatever.
Speaker 4 (10:22):
And this week, my guy, so I got Tony Fenel,
who is finished twelfth there. Last year, yep, he was
the eighth, ninth, tenth betting favorite, which don't mean anything
because I've had that like ten times a year. He
shot like one hundred and eighty nine, missed the cut.
He couldn't see the cut. I'm like, yeah, Jet, like
(10:43):
I'm back from Britain. Yeah, I guess he did play.
It was there was a prize for last place picks.
Scott Kyle honestly got because every week I just checked
to see what my guy I've had, like a guy
who's been in the top seven or eight in the
betting favorites like eight times, and they haven't Throne squat
toll him.
Speaker 2 (11:02):
Mid midway through the last round of the Open, I
got a text from Mike Ghost Brory needs to be
in the top five.
Speaker 3 (11:09):
It's not gonna happen. He's out.
Speaker 4 (11:11):
He knew, and he was as soon as those two
holes that was it, I said. And if he birdies
those two holes here might have finished second.
Speaker 3 (11:19):
Here's the good news.
Speaker 2 (11:20):
Could you imagine, and we've talked about this, is Mike
actually bet at the track like I did, where you
have the worst.
Speaker 4 (11:26):
Possible beats in history where he could lose a fortune.
Speaker 3 (11:29):
And I used to a liberty bell. You would not
you would you would be you would have been long.
Speaker 4 (11:34):
I get mad when Clemson gives up a late field
goal and I mean, you don't even bet.
Speaker 3 (11:39):
Hey, how about the guy I think I'm gonna get
the name? Right?
Speaker 4 (11:42):
Was it Horris English finished second last week?
Speaker 3 (11:45):
Yes he did. He's finished second and two majors this year. Yeah,
he's top.
Speaker 4 (11:50):
I know what he finished squad Oh, I think he's
I think he's going to be a live wow and
I I mean I I think.
Speaker 3 (11:57):
It was the PGA.
Speaker 4 (11:58):
Maybe he finished second when Scott he won by I'm
trying to remember who.
Speaker 3 (12:02):
Finished second in the PGA, but it was his.
Speaker 4 (12:04):
Second second place, finishing.
Speaker 3 (12:06):
A major this year. He's one of those guys that's
always up there for a guy like anybody who watched
this week.
Speaker 4 (12:12):
By the way, Xander Schaflee had a birdie putt on
every hole. Xander Schawley played so well, didn't make a putt,
he put it like me and and did anybody see
Bryson Deshambo He should have missed the cut yeh. He
shot seventy eight the first day he had. He had
to make a birdie on the last hole to Mike
and then he finished and then he shot like sixty
three on Saturday.
Speaker 3 (12:34):
Hey, I like watching him. I like watching him playing.
He'll be on the Ryder Cup. They've already said it.
Speaker 4 (12:39):
Yeah, he's on, even though he won't get the points
because but they just got the point. I think he's
gonna be I think the Captain's gonna be on the
team too.
Speaker 3 (12:48):
I think he should.
Speaker 4 (12:50):
Yes, he's been playing great. Uh so we got we
got some baseball to talk about. We have some updated
numbers on favorite to win the World Series. And here's
what's interesting. Does Toronto have the best record in baseball?
Speaker 3 (13:02):
They do? They are sixteen to one at bet Park.
Speaker 4 (13:04):
How many teams ahead of them? One, two, three, four, five, six, seven?
See teams ahead of them? Because they're just not a name. Look,
this is like your all they're doing at Bett Parks,
Mike is they're thinking what is the public wants?
Speaker 3 (13:16):
The public knows nothing about the Blue Jays.
Speaker 4 (13:18):
They have one and is like Toronto probably will not win,
but sixteen.
Speaker 3 (13:22):
To one to one right now. It was that last
night and maybe it changed after last night. I don't know.
I had it.
Speaker 4 (13:28):
Look this morning, but the Dodgers are the favorite at
bet Parks at two to one. Detroit, which is lost.
They just wants another reliever, the Dodgers. They did that
all kind of inje proms, well they'll go ahead and
get nine. They will Detrade. That's the point.
Speaker 3 (13:41):
Detroit, which is the second choice at six and a
half to one. Once in the last two weeks, eleven
of twelve. They've lost all of a sudden. It's crazy.
Speaker 4 (13:49):
Yeah, I hate, I hate the Yankees. The Yankees are next,
and they're not very good. Anybody that bets the Yankees
is throwing money away.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
Philly's at eight to one, they're better. Mike's Astros at
ten to one. That's the team.
Speaker 3 (14:00):
I like.
Speaker 4 (14:00):
Cubs in the Mets at twelve, and then Toronto at six.
I think the Cubs. I think the Cubs are better.
I think they're a little bit like Toronto. We don't
really give them credit. Cubs can hit the ball, they
got a lineup they do and if they get hot.
I mean, look, it all comes down to who gets
hot in October.
Speaker 2 (14:17):
That's all it is. Yep, cy young National interesting, interesting
skiings minus one ten wial or minus one ten. Yeah,
and that points flip Christopher Sanchez at fifteen. Wow, and
Skeens is not that, it's what's what's he four and
seven or whatever?
Speaker 3 (14:34):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (14:35):
Is of zero?
Speaker 3 (14:37):
Yeah, first young winner and only went fort Me is
a voter.
Speaker 4 (14:41):
And I know this changed about ten years ago when
Felix Hernandez won and he had like a losing record,
and it never used to be that way. I think
it was like thirteen and all something like that, right,
It always used to be the guy that won.
Speaker 3 (14:51):
The most games like ten and nine. Here, you're right
to me.
Speaker 4 (14:57):
I love Schemes, but for the same reason that we
were should have started the All Star Game. He should
have went to Atlanta pitched it inning. I would vote
for for a Wheeler. I think he's never won one,
not that that should be the reason why you vote
for a guy. He's playing on a team that you
know it was probably probably gonna be in the playoffs
in a factory, I would, but that's me and I
don't know what the.
Speaker 3 (15:17):
Here's what I think will happen.
Speaker 2 (15:18):
If Wheeler and Schemes are in the vicinity of each
other and there at the end of the year, Wheeler
will win the cy Young easily because of his record
and and to your point, by Skins is probably gonna
win five cy Young yeah before.
Speaker 6 (15:34):
They're not even like in the same vicinity, because Schemes,
first of all Schemes is five and eight with a
one to nine to one year. Yeah, but that's I'm
not knocking Wheeler, but a Wheeler is up to like
two three or something.
Speaker 4 (15:46):
There's some category that's correct. Schemes is like, I'm not
gonna get this right. But there's like three or four categories,
and schemes is like either leading or like nobody. The
history of baseball is like done before five and eight. Yeah,
and it's well, no, my friend, the Pirates fan, he
says to me, all the time he goes, they are
so god because this guy Skiens goes out, you know,
(16:07):
every time. The one thing about Skeens I've noticed though,
and this is interesting, he never goes more than six innings.
He's a five to six inning guy. Well, and that's
also they're trying to protect them exact still young, and but.
Speaker 3 (16:18):
The Pirate's bullpen, yes, so that they can trade them.
They don't want to end up.
Speaker 4 (16:22):
With the don't the Pirates have a guy on your
team who's really good.
Speaker 3 (16:25):
Like an outfielder, a young guy o'neille. Somebody said, like,
this kid is terrific. You're you're like me last week?
What did you say last Gabe Kapler gave Kapler welcome
back Codder.
Speaker 4 (16:43):
Now playing for the Phillies, and left it he'd be
better than he would be better. Well, I shouldn't say
that on a poll? Who would you rather have many,
Max Kepler or Gay Cap.
Speaker 3 (16:55):
Cue it up. All right, there we go.
Speaker 5 (16:57):
M v P for.
Speaker 2 (16:58):
Baseball, Judge and o'tani are both like minus a million.
Does anyone want Cal Raleigh at plus three fifty in
the American League the Seattle Catcher.
Speaker 4 (17:09):
But I'll tell you what if he goes over fifty
home runs and Seattle makes the playoffs, he's going away
over fifty, well you would think, yeah, I mean, just
go a total game.
Speaker 3 (17:19):
Now, was there two different MVPs? Is there?
Speaker 4 (17:21):
One of the American League, one of the tank. But
to me, Schwarber better finished second. I mean, that's just
my opinion. I think Schwarber was having this kind of
year to nobody's.
Speaker 3 (17:30):
I don't know that.
Speaker 2 (17:31):
He'll finish second because there's some position players that we
tan's not a position player kerl Armstrong, right, Chicago, there
are guys.
Speaker 4 (17:38):
But yeah, do you Shoorbur will get votes. Schwarburg got
his thousand fit last night.
Speaker 3 (17:44):
Yep. He's got three hundred and twenty home runs.
Speaker 4 (17:46):
Yep, he's got the most home runs for the guy
who when the guy reached a thousand.
Speaker 3 (17:51):
Hits, that's what he does, Mike, he hits on how
much these people in Philadelphia.
Speaker 4 (17:56):
He's going to give the Phillies a hometown to any
might he might.
Speaker 3 (18:00):
Oh my god, if I'm Kyle Schwarber, last chance to
cash in? How much fire.
Speaker 4 (18:05):
Series he's got. He's making twenty five a year. I
believe he's a forty million dollars a year. I think
it might be more whatever, whatever I think forties, I
think forty is the minimum.
Speaker 3 (18:14):
The Philly's going to give him forty for four years.
Speaker 4 (18:17):
Well, that swing is gonna hold up. I'll tell you what.
That swing is going nowhere. And his batting average is
going up this year.
Speaker 2 (18:23):
He left handed pitchers right, Yep, he's having his best
year of his career.
Speaker 6 (18:26):
I mean there's ten people ahead of him in the
n L m VP odds really yesting ten.
Speaker 3 (18:32):
And that's fair.
Speaker 6 (18:33):
Literally, Tony is gonna win. Pete Crow Armstrong is eight
to Onejan Soto thirty to one, uh Tattis Lindor and
Kyle Tucker are fifty five to one, Freddie Freeman sixty
to one, Kettle Marte sixty to one, James Wood and
(18:53):
Ronald at Kunya sixty.
Speaker 4 (18:55):
Kyle Schwarber off the Phillies the first. Now, now other
people are starting to play. If you take Kyle Schwarbrof
off the Phillies, I would tell you that they're probably
out of the playoffs. No, I don't get there's any
question about it. He's been their most consistent guy from
the beginning.
Speaker 3 (19:09):
Here's what scares me a little bit.
Speaker 4 (19:11):
And the other problem of the Phillies, Mike, is they
gotta they gotta do something about the catcher too.
Speaker 3 (19:14):
Right, he's gott He's the Catchers, the free and I.
Speaker 4 (19:17):
Mean people aren't even even considering they might sign Swarez.
It's just like he's gone because we should.
Speaker 2 (19:22):
He shouldn't be gone either, Just sign them all. What
a way, character, it's not our money. Well that's true.
Here's the thing. Supposedly they talked in training camp.
Speaker 4 (19:31):
You know, they discussed whatever however series he got, and
they couldn't beach any kind of thing. Okay, well that's
telling me that they're not like you know whatever, swore
we're senior. And then he goes out and does this, Sir,
he's thirty two years old, this is forty.
Speaker 3 (19:45):
This is his last contracy, I mean, his last big content.
Speaker 4 (19:47):
Sure, and somebody I don't know who it is, but
somebody the Dodgers, the Dodgers, Dodgers, and Dodgers can't maybe
probably not a ton, but probably nobody.
Speaker 3 (19:59):
Dodge just gonna have a backup to you.
Speaker 4 (20:01):
And everybody keeps telling me, well, Alonzo didn't get as
much money as he thought he was gonna go.
Speaker 3 (20:05):
Okay, fair enough, but Alonzo.
Speaker 2 (20:07):
Actually plays in the field, doesn't see some point very
first space.
Speaker 4 (20:11):
Yeah, but I'm not saying. Maybe that does keep Schwarber's
price down. Maybe it is more like thirty five million.
I don't know. And then the question is designing for
three or four years? If I'm Swarver, I want four answer.
I mean, the Phillies are gonna have this team with
like four or five three hundred million dollar guys, I'm
(20:31):
I'm all for it.
Speaker 3 (20:32):
Pay I don't know. Well, he's got all the mouty.
Speaker 4 (20:37):
But don't you go over some thresholds where you're paying,
like you're paying like five hundred million in luxury attacks.
And if you do that and you don't win. If
you do it and you win, everybody's happy.
Speaker 3 (20:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (20:48):
If you do it and you don't win, then everybody goes,
what do we do? Everybody's about That's exactly now I
want Shore. But yeah, you're right, Mike, he's gonna go
to the hospital.
Speaker 3 (20:57):
You might not. He might say, Hey, I really like
it here Philadelphia, they're close. Nobody likes it that much.
Some people, some players do.
Speaker 4 (21:05):
Like when was the last guy in professional sports that said,
I'm staying here and they're offering me less money than
to go there. No, what I'm saying is, if it's close,
it's like, let's say TX is offering thirty eight, offering
thirty five. He might Harper might go up to him
and say, you know, we just want that's fine.
Speaker 3 (21:24):
But you know, I don't know what.
Speaker 2 (21:26):
I don't know where he's We're somewhere in the Midwest.
Maybe wants to go back near your home. Maybe wants
to go to Florida. So he didn't play income town.
Speaker 3 (21:35):
You know, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (21:36):
You know.
Speaker 3 (21:36):
The other thing is the ard thing could be due
to Philly, Middletown, Ohio.
Speaker 4 (21:40):
Okay, he can't go to Florida because neither one of
those teams could afford to side.
Speaker 3 (21:45):
No, I don't know if you want to go to
Cincinnati or Cleveland. Those teams don't want to win anyone.
Speaker 4 (21:49):
But here's the thing, Yes, could come down to, like,
if the Phillies win the World Series this year, does
that change everybody's perception of what Like does Middleton sit
there and go, oh, I won one.
Speaker 3 (21:59):
Now maybe I don't need Swart. I don't know.
Speaker 4 (22:02):
But if they don't win but they're just close, does
he say, hey, I really think we need this guy?
He's the you know, other than no Tana, He's the
best in the game at the best of h Yeah,
nobody close is there that's doing this nothing I know
of thirty five home runs six he's I mean he's
in all.
Speaker 3 (22:21):
Four years with the Phillies, he's thirty five or more. Yeah,
I mean, granted he had the one year and hit
like one ninety And when did he show up the
year they went to the World Series. Yeah, it wasn't
a true I mean he's by far that was the
team going it was the team going nowhere. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (22:37):
Yeah, he wasn't the only one that appeared, but he
was the one big. It was funny they they gave
him four years in Castellanos five, but they gave Kyle
more money per season. Yeah, they both got a hundred million.
One guy got four years, one guy got five years.
Speaker 3 (22:52):
It'd be ashamed.
Speaker 4 (22:52):
They can't just trade Castellanas because they could. Frankly, they
could put Swarbur in right field. He ain't any worse
than cast a Lot. I think they put him in
left they I get it. But Castlelanas is the worst
right fielder in baseball. Hey, they could even you could
trade Castlanos tomorrow if you want to as a fielder.
He's terrible. Some team would take them here.
Speaker 3 (23:11):
He's bad, is really bad.
Speaker 4 (23:14):
So anyway, we got that's what's going on in baseball.
Speaker 3 (23:18):
So the Eagles are in training camp and the best
time of year.
Speaker 2 (23:22):
Yeah, here's an interesting bet. So the Eagles are the
favorite at bet Parks at six and a half to
one to win the Super Bowl, followed by the Ravens
and the Bills.
Speaker 3 (23:33):
How about this bet Eagles to beat the Bills in
the Super Bowl at bet Parks easy schedule for twenty
eight to one.
Speaker 4 (23:42):
That's pretty I think you should be over there betting
that it's about to beat the Chiefs at twenty eight
to one.
Speaker 3 (23:49):
They're all Ravens.
Speaker 4 (23:51):
Twenty eight Ravens ain't getting there because the Ravens never
get there.
Speaker 2 (23:55):
Just I found that fascinating. Those six and a half
to one to win the Super Bowl. Then you could
basically take all three of them and you're getting a
better play, right because three into twenty eight nine that's
nine to one, absolutely.
Speaker 4 (24:09):
Right, So I will I'd leave the Ravens out that
I would, And maybe that's a mistake Bills and the
Chiefs for you, the Bills have Suppose that's the exact result,
is what we're saying.
Speaker 3 (24:19):
Eagles win super Bowl, not just Bill the Bills, not
the team. The Bills have lost.
Speaker 4 (24:23):
Some players, especially defensive twenty eight to one at bet Park.
Speaker 3 (24:27):
The Bills have an easy smike. I'll be back in
a minute. I'm going to make it.
Speaker 4 (24:31):
No the way the bets that you'd like to make
that to me makes more sense than the Eagles at
six and a half.
Speaker 3 (24:37):
I mean, I don't know you told me.
Speaker 4 (24:39):
Is there anybody in the AFC you're leaving out that
you think could of those three?
Speaker 3 (24:43):
Those are to me? Those are the three, right? Every year?
There are the three until Cincinnati gets in the defense. Yeah,
there's that the Chiefs. The Chiefs need to play the
Bills of the Ravens.
Speaker 4 (24:53):
Everybody thinks the Chiefs are falling off the face of
the Earth.
Speaker 3 (24:56):
I got news for people.
Speaker 4 (24:57):
And I'm not saying you're going back to the Super
Bowl for a six straight year or no, not six,
no one year since now he got there one. So
the AFC Title Game for the six straight year. But
it's a good place. They're good and he went out
and helped themselves. And Mahomes is ticked off because he
got embarrassed.
Speaker 3 (25:13):
Got he got his two receivers back this year.
Speaker 4 (25:16):
Then well, one guy is going to be suspended for
like four or five or six games. The other guy's
in trouble. Rice is going to get going to jail
for like a week. But the NFL says, the NFL
is going to suspend.
Speaker 3 (25:29):
He can serve his time in the offseason or something.
Speaker 4 (25:31):
Yeah, I think he can serve it whenever. I'm not
telling them I'm serving his time NFL. The NFL is
going to come down to him. He's probably gonna get
about six games. He's gotta serve it when he retires.
But again, uh, you know the last time Mahomes got
crushed in the Super Bowl, they came back and won
it the.
Speaker 3 (25:44):
Next year two years.
Speaker 4 (25:46):
So anyway, that's an interesting betag I like the Super
Bowl against the Bills, the Raid.
Speaker 3 (25:51):
What could you get?
Speaker 4 (25:52):
How about if you took the Chiefs or the Bills
over the Eagles and the Super slar it's very similar.
Speaker 3 (25:57):
Okay, it's a similar number. Here's a good one.
Speaker 2 (26:00):
I've got Titans over Seahawks in the Super Bowl five
thousand to one.
Speaker 4 (26:05):
There's a whole bunch of I'm running to the windows
a bunch of matchups that are five thousand to one.
Speaker 2 (26:12):
But the straight up Eagle six and a half, Ravens
and Bill seven, and I think we're all a little
surprised about this.
Speaker 3 (26:19):
Chiefs are eight.
Speaker 5 (26:21):
To me.
Speaker 3 (26:21):
The Chiefs should be head of the Ravens of the Bills.
Detroit is ten.
Speaker 2 (26:25):
Then you go all the way down to San Francisco,
which has kind of falling off the face of the
earth now, and Washington at seventeen, and then Cincinnati at twenty.
Cincinnati's got an offense, it's certainly good enough to win
the Super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (26:37):
But I think anybody, I think the team people, there's
a couple of interesting teams this year.
Speaker 4 (26:42):
San Francisco's obviously, I think Perty is better than people
give him credit for.
Speaker 3 (26:47):
But they did They've lost some play. But I think
they're gonna be good.
Speaker 4 (26:49):
I don't know if they're gonna be because they got
McCaffrey back.
Speaker 3 (26:52):
Their whole team was hurtles. Their whole team was hurt,
and but I think the team people were missing out
on a little bit.
Speaker 4 (26:58):
As Minnesota, if the quarterback, the coach is good, we
know the coach is good. Rosters as good as the
Eagles say that again, it's pretty darn good. They all
guy receivers that can play with the two Eagles receivers
now he's hurt. The one guy receivers plural, Well, their
(27:18):
second receiver Addison is really really good with Smith or okay,
maybe okay, maybe he's not the first guy. But then
their numbers are Hopkinson's really good. They're they're they're tight ends.
All I'm saying is their their team is good. I
don't know what the quarterback. I would put Addison in
the same way. Addison is really good. But okay, whatever,
(27:39):
that's where we're nitpicking. I think we should argue about
this for the rest of the time. I think Addison's
really an idiot.
Speaker 3 (27:47):
Whatever. But again, I don't know how the quarterbacks going
to play. And J. J.
Speaker 2 (27:53):
McCarthy last scene, winning the national title for Michigan.
Speaker 4 (27:56):
Yeah right, I have no idea how good they're good,
but I do know this watch. They won fourteen games
last year in a good division and loaded the other
team people.
Speaker 3 (28:05):
And I don't know what green Bay won eleven games
this year. I did. All of the losses were to
the Eagles and the five and the three teams in
the division.
Speaker 5 (28:13):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (28:15):
To me is like it's amazing.
Speaker 4 (28:16):
So it was green Bay a good team or they
that team that can't quite beat the good teams. Say
what Minnesota is to Mike, I mean love, love going
to be. I think he was hurt all last year,
but yeah, that's me really I do. I think that
he got hurt in the Eagles game, hapened, and I
don't think he was ever quite the same. What was
(28:37):
Addison's numbers last year?
Speaker 6 (28:39):
He was uh he had nine touchdowns, sixty three catches,
eight hundred and seventy five yards.
Speaker 3 (28:44):
And that's kind of DeVante Smith.
Speaker 6 (28:47):
Rookie year seventy for nine to eleven and ten touchdowns. Okay,
well that's kind of That's why I'm saying it was.
Speaker 3 (28:52):
Smith ever a dime.
Speaker 2 (28:56):
They have two receivers over one thousand last year, not
last year. I don't think so Jailing only throw them.
Jail only threw for twenty eight Davantage's sixty eight for
eight thirty three.
Speaker 3 (29:06):
By the way, somebody's got a stuff, Cam Newton. Okay, yeah,
stuff stuff.
Speaker 4 (29:10):
Look look, I agree that Jailing is not one of
the top four quarterbacks in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (29:16):
I agree with what people are saying.
Speaker 4 (29:18):
They judge Jail in the same way they judge party
and and and we're to say, guys, well, look at
what he has around them, and they'll say, were perty's
no good because okay, they're All they're doing is saying
the same thing about Jailing, whether you believe it or
don't believe it. I like Jailing on the Eagles. I
think he's a perfect fit. But Cam Newton, get the hat,
flush the hat. You look like a freaking idiot. But
(29:39):
this is what he's selling.
Speaker 3 (29:40):
Now you don't.
Speaker 4 (29:42):
He looks like a clown. But this is what he's selling.
And that's why he's on ESPN and is a class
And I don't. I don't this like I liked him
as a player, you know whatever, he's MVP one, he
let all bur into a national title, and now he
looks like some guy like like you turn on the
t you say, what is this?
Speaker 6 (30:01):
Yeah, he looks like he's getting ready to go to
the opera.
Speaker 3 (30:05):
Minnesota twenty eight to one.
Speaker 2 (30:07):
Yeah, Packers Minnesota, but Packers and Rams are twenty. So
they're basically saying they don't think JJ McCarthy can get
it done, and they're right, don't prove it otherwise.
Speaker 4 (30:18):
I mean, and the way they looked their last two
games last year, they didn't look real good. And what
do we think about Detroit? They lost their two coordinators.
They did, and the question is, you know, Aiden Hutchinson
is back, it can the I mean, their defense at
the end of the year was the worst in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (30:33):
They were except when they played Minnesota had like eleven
players on the right every eighteen.
Speaker 4 (30:38):
Every eighteen defensive players are gone, so they're obviously going
to be better than that.
Speaker 3 (30:43):
Their offense is good.
Speaker 4 (30:44):
Their question is how much psychologically did that lost to
Washington set them back? Because it was all set up
for that YEP to win the Super Bowl, But they
might not have beaten the Eagles.
Speaker 3 (30:57):
If they would have played the Eagles. I think the
Eagles could have went out there.
Speaker 4 (30:59):
And won Eagles at that point would have had a
better team because they're absolute, absolute rights.
Speaker 3 (31:04):
But the game would have been a Detroit.
Speaker 2 (31:06):
So is that something that's a motivating thing, or because look,
their quarterback wasn't very good in that game either god oh,
no five interceptions and they did score and they didn't
in that game in the NFC Championship game or now
they lost when they lost to one league three interceptions
only three had five earlier and they well, they must
(31:27):
have turned the ball over.
Speaker 3 (31:28):
They probably fumbled twice.
Speaker 2 (31:29):
And they did have a lot of time. He didn't
have a good but the problem was that they gave
up and they were playing from behind the whole game.
Speaker 3 (31:37):
It's ridiculous. And how much does the coordinator mean? I
don't know. They're two coordinators now, or the Jets and
the Bear. Jets and the.
Speaker 6 (31:43):
Bears, because they still have the roster, like we were saying,
I mean, their offense is still legal.
Speaker 3 (31:48):
They won fifteen games, it's like, and their defense is
still really good when they're healthy.
Speaker 4 (31:55):
And it's also possible that their window when they had closed,
they had the game one, they should have been in
the super Bowl two years ago, and the coach absolutely
could have gone up seven. Absolutely, he gave they gave it,
gave that game a way to San Francisco.
Speaker 3 (32:10):
Weren't there two teams that had samf green Bay? That's right,
green Bay had them beat.
Speaker 2 (32:17):
They were very fortunate to make the Super Bowl and
then they had the game won until Mahomes said that
you don't have.
Speaker 3 (32:21):
To come out in football. Last year.
Speaker 4 (32:23):
Think about this, well, Chiefs won fifteen games and didn't
play the last week, so they basically they were fifteen
to one. The Lions won fifteen games, Minnesota won fourteen games,
and Eagles won fourteen games.
Speaker 3 (32:35):
And they didn't care to last year.
Speaker 2 (32:36):
That's right, Jesus, domination that doesn't happen, doesn't all those
teams the best one by far, wass As they proved
no doubt when they started brushing people.
Speaker 4 (32:46):
I still say the greatest achievement last year was the Chiefs.
They had nothing, as it was proven in the Super Bowl,
and Buffalo couldn't be well, Buffalo got it.
Speaker 3 (32:57):
It was a.
Speaker 4 (32:58):
Controversial call, Okay, and and and who else could beat them?
Speaker 3 (33:01):
There was who they played a week before Buffalo.
Speaker 4 (33:03):
I don't read they didn't play the Ravens because the
Ravens played played Buffalo.
Speaker 3 (33:09):
Denver. Is that possible?
Speaker 4 (33:11):
Yeah, somebody killed Denver, but I don't know if Denver
never made the playoff and they got killed it was Houston.
Speaker 6 (33:18):
Houston, Yeah, Houston kind of put up a dud.
Speaker 2 (33:23):

little bit about the odds. We'll get into Eagles specifically
here in a minute. College football will start before the NFL,
(35:50):
although the is there a Hall of Fame game like
soon the Lions are playing somebody like this week? I
think that's in the first exhibition game. It is exhibition
games do not count. Yeah, I don't know, I understand that.
I don't know what what day it is, but it's.
Speaker 6 (36:02):
What it is, Chargers against the Lions. Thursday, July thirty first,
so Thursday night football.
Speaker 4 (36:09):
Yes, if you're interested for the Total degenerates, what's the
what's the line on that bed parks?
Speaker 3 (36:14):

Speaker 3 (36:29):
Mike only has one selection of I can get peacock.
I just never bother.
Speaker 6 (36:35):
Let me see what this be under preseason. Yes, it
is a Lions minus one Chargers minus one.
Speaker 3 (36:41):
Okay, so the Lions are playing nobody.
Speaker 6 (36:43):
Yeah, so I guess the Chargers have a better third
string spot than the I.
Speaker 4 (36:47):
Think, but I think people think the Chargers are going
to be You know, Jim, how about this?
Speaker 3 (36:52):
What do you think the over under is? Thirty two?
Thirty two and a half? Are you serious? That's serious?
Speaker 4 (36:58):
Yep, just all the background so basically unwatchable football that
has now become the single biggest fraud in sports.
Speaker 3 (37:08):
What NFL exhibition homes.
Speaker 4 (37:10):
Yeah, that was a time when there was a time
when all the regulars play, and they used to play
five or six of these and you actually watched it.
Speaker 3 (37:17):
We're interested.
Speaker 2 (37:19):
Then over time then they started attacking it onto the
season ticket packages. They used to play these games like
this one's in Camton right at the Hall of Fame.
They used to play these things like in Hershey or
you know, go on the road. It was fun for
the fans, and then it became all right, two more
home games and it's part of.
Speaker 3 (37:35):
The season ticket package.
Speaker 4 (37:37):
And guess what if you want to see Jaalen Hurts,
get a good look because he'll be when they go
to an eighteen game schedule, which they will total.
Speaker 3 (37:46):
There's only going to be two of these. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (37:47):
The only time in my life that I wanted to
bet an exhibition or whatever the year that the Eagles
beat the Patriots with the first time, or when they
beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl the next year
they were playing exhibition and the line was like Patriots
given three.
Speaker 3 (38:04):
Belichick was looking at forty.
Speaker 4 (38:06):
Two to twenty to Tom Brady played like three quarters.
There's no way on guys, no defense, it's a Patriots.
Speaker 3 (38:15):
Tam wins this game. That's a great Bill Belichick. North
Carolina baby, By the way, I think I'll still take
the under thirty two and a half. All right, So
here we.
Speaker 4 (38:25):
Got bet Park's college football National Championship, win the whole thing,
win it all.
Speaker 3 (38:33):
Who do you think the favorite is at the moment?
Speaker 4 (38:36):
Well, I'll go with Ohio State, and they might not
be because of the quarter they got a new quarterback.
Speaker 7 (38:50):
I was gonna say Ohio State.
Speaker 3 (38:51):
I was gonna say pen Penn State was the only
one I was thinking of. Yeah, I can't say it
being Penn State, but I'll go Penn State. Ohio State
five to one, Penn State six to one.
Speaker 2 (39:00):
Okay, Texas six and a half, Texas Alabama eight.
Speaker 3 (39:07):
I can't even read this.
Speaker 4 (39:08):
Georgia, Georgia nine, thank you, Mike, Clemson ten, Notre Dame ten.
Speaker 3 (39:13):
Yeah, I forgot about Texas.
Speaker 4 (39:14):
That sounds about I'm going to tell you the one
that I would take a shot on Clemson. Clemson if
they win the first game, if they beat LSU at home,
the two maybe the two best quarterbacks in the country,
if you don't count Arts many are playing in that game. Nusmeller,
count Arts Manning because none of us knows if he's
what everybody says, he's really good. Okay, Finet's put guy
(39:36):
on LSU.
Speaker 3 (39:38):
If he's so good, why wouldn't he playing for the
last two years.
Speaker 4 (39:40):
Yeah, because I think Sark made a mistake. But that's
okay in yours and then whatever. The guy on LSU
is great. The guy on Clemson every Nussmeller, Nussmeller, but
he makes mistakes.
Speaker 3 (39:54):
The guy on Clemson, everybody thinks he's goat.
Speaker 4 (39:56):
And the guy who's going to Miami from Georgia Beck,
I think his name is Ohio State's gonna have a
new quarterback. I don't know is he going to be
You know, the guy last year was pretty good. Penn
State is the team if this coach screws and I
don't mean win the national title. I'm saying he better
be in the semi finals again and not screw it
up this time by throwing whatever that guy is under
(40:19):
the most.
Speaker 3 (40:19):
Have you seen your schedule, Kyle? Now, their first three games,
the three of.
Speaker 4 (40:24):
Us could line up, they play and this is to
me ludicrous. You got Clemson's playing LSU, You've got Texas
is going to Ohio State, and Penn State's playing.
Speaker 3 (40:33):
Like this is by the way, these are all.
Speaker 6 (40:37):
At home, home against Nevada, home against Florida International, right,
and then home against Nova.
Speaker 3 (40:44):
And wait a minute, are there threes in the game
against Nova? What is there a three point line? Yes?
Wait a minute. Then they get a week.
Speaker 6 (40:52):
Off attendance, a week off before they play Oregon?
Speaker 3 (40:57):
Are you kidding me? Like, if he loses the Oregon game,
he should be shot?
Speaker 4 (41:03):
No, no, no, shot, he should be We don't call
for violence on this show, but again.
Speaker 3 (41:07):
Let's calm down.
Speaker 4 (41:08):
They Semony High School is right right down the store
or Franklin.
Speaker 3 (41:12):
What Oregon is coming across the violence. What is he like?
Three and twenty against whatever? Not good?
Speaker 4 (41:17):
They got to the semi finals. They show I didn't
want to credit award. He had a great day. They
had a great schedule, but whatever, yea the Oregon. He
gets nobody for a month and then he's playing Oregon.
Speaker 3 (41:27):
I don't know who Oregon gets before that. I have
no idea. Maybe they're playing. The schedule is not really
that hard to begin with their schedules.
Speaker 4 (41:33):
They don't play Michigan and they go to Ohio State
on late October.
Speaker 3 (41:37):
I believe there's two games.
Speaker 2 (41:39):
It's a two game schedule, right, They won't be a
significant favorites.
Speaker 3 (41:42):
So if he finishes ten and two, he's failed.
Speaker 4 (41:45):
Yes he'll still make the playoffs, but he can, but
he can at least survive.
Speaker 3 (41:49):
You think, oh, I think if he goes ten to two,
he'll make the playoffs. So that's why it's always been.
Speaker 6 (41:53):
They always beat the teams they should and then they
can't get over.
Speaker 4 (41:56):
The hump against the schedule and still make the playoffs.
Just beyond my comprehension. And the SEC guys are playing,
but again, it is the way it is.
Speaker 2 (42:06):
Is anybody following this Uh, all right, there's gonna be
the new sixteen team playoff, which is coming.
Speaker 4 (42:13):
There this year but probably next right, probably next year.
And the question is, because the SEC and the Big
Ten basically run college football, they want to get four bids.
They have two different ways of coming up with this.
Some one wants, all right, the five conference champions and
eleven at larges.
Speaker 3 (42:30):
That's not going to happen.
Speaker 4 (42:31):
The guy that runs the Big Ten wants four for
the Big Ten, four from the SEC and the other eight.
They're good luck to the rest of you people, Well,
there would be automatic. It's the ACC we get two. No,
he twelve, we get two. Not only that, he's now
proposing the Big Ten just had their media days in Vegas.
He's proposing that at the end of the regular season,
(42:52):
the Big Tens like next four teams like battle it out,
like the NBA play in to see who get to
play in the Big Ten playoffs.
Speaker 3 (43:02):
It was It's just it's wild. But you know what,
they have all the power.
Speaker 4 (43:06):
The Big Ten in the SEC completely control college You're
talking about the top sixteen teams in I'm not getting
exactly right what he was saying. Now at the point
if you're talking about the top sixteen teams. Yes, is
it reasonable to say most years eight up? There's gonna
be four from the Big ten, h four from the SEC.
Now I could argue that there might be five from
the SEC, three from the he wants it locked in, right, Well,
(43:28):
but again it's gonna be locked and two from the
ACC and two from the Big twelve. Well that's pretty
much what it is. They can get Notre Dame and
you getting out and then you get one of them,
I mean, Arizona. He's not being unreasonable. Big ten has
won the last two national titles. Yes, hec one like
eight of the ten before. He's flexing his muscle and
(43:48):
I don't play, man, that's how this works.
Speaker 3 (43:50):
Yep, he's like you know what he is.
Speaker 4 (43:53):
He's like the guy at the Texas hold the table
that has most of the chips.
Speaker 3 (43:56):
I mean, he's just gonna put you all in. And
good luck was last year?
Speaker 4 (44:00):
Are kind of jokey that you had the three and
four seeds were like the top four seeds all lost
in the second round, right because and like Penn Steak
got to play like Boise and and and s m
U or something or whatever whatever.
Speaker 3 (44:13):
It was first at home. But then that's the best
four teams should be the best four seeds. But they
mean they've at least changed that.
Speaker 2 (44:21):
But I think also what some of the people want
the power brokers, they want no more selection committee.
Speaker 3 (44:26):
They want them out of the whole thing.
Speaker 4 (44:28):
They basically want to just they already control all the money, right,
they now just want to control who gets into what.
Speaker 3 (44:34):
A selection committee is a bunch of yayas well, there's
that problem. But I can't.
Speaker 4 (44:38):
This, this is not this is not new. That's why
they But they're better than the basketball. Anybody's better than
the basketball. But here's the difference with basketball. I don't
know it's difference. I don't know, man about A fan's
not happy, is not happy with Mike r.
Speaker 3 (44:52):
Well he didn't.
Speaker 4 (44:53):
I don't know why he heard his call for violence.
That's the difference with basketball is when the classmate of
coach Franklin's when they screw up in basketball, I'm not
a Franklin basher. I not likes them. Shut No, I'm
saying with this year's schedule. In basketball, when you screw up,
you're screwing up like the thirty second at large. In football,
(45:15):
the teams you getn't have a little jay as we
saw last year when the when the legitimate chances, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (45:20):
They were winding about Alabama not good.
Speaker 4 (45:22):
I did you know what? You lose the Vanderbilt You're out. No, no, no,
that wasn't the one. The Oklahoma game. You went to
Oklahoma lost twenty four to three. You're Out're done? And
do I think Alabama was one of the best for
the twelve teams?
Speaker 3 (45:35):
Better than boys, yes? Were they better to s m
U Yes? But so what I don't care.
Speaker 6 (45:41):
As you expand these playoffs like to sixteen, you think
there's gonna be more and more of those issues where
it's like, oh, this team got stubbed, that team got stuff, But.
Speaker 3 (45:47):
That's what this is. What's going to hat always like
what screwing is just to lose by thirty in the
first What.
Speaker 4 (45:52):
Screws this up is eventually you might have to get
rid of the league championship games and they make money,
they're not going to win.
Speaker 3 (45:59):
But what's going to hapen?
Speaker 4 (46:00):
But eventually, if you go to sixteen teams, unless you
want your college football season going to February, if you
if the league championship games are first week in December,
I don't.
Speaker 3 (46:08):
I mean, Navy, you ain't gonna have a week to
itself anymore.
Speaker 4 (46:10):
That's going you got to start the playoffs like the
next week, and that's or like two weeks.
Speaker 3 (46:15):
Yeah, exactly. Uh, five thousand to one to win the title.
Speaker 4 (46:20):
We have thirty we have thirty four teams, including the
alma mater of two of.
Speaker 3 (46:25):
Our Oh wow, I'm gonna go to the window.
Speaker 2 (46:28):
Real simple, Owls or five thousand to one, along with
Wyoming and a number of other spots.
Speaker 4 (46:33):
Would you take the Awls at five thousand to one?
You gave me five million to one, I wouldn't take
the album.
Speaker 3 (46:38):
Now.
Speaker 4 (46:39):
Now, if you're giving me five million to one that
they can nine games, you wouldn't even bet like a
buck to win five million.
Speaker 3 (46:44):
It'd be over week three. I mean why, because I'm
never gonna see that buck again.
Speaker 4 (46:49):
Well here's the interesting The Owls could go undefeated, they
still wouldn't get in the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (46:53):
Yeah, they know you're saying what they probably would. What
about Rice? See if you were gonna meet though.
Speaker 4 (47:00):
If you're gonna say to me five million to make
the playoffs, I take got that.
Speaker 2 (47:04):
But even though they won't that's not what they're saying.
That's what they're saying. First they got to make the playoffs.
Then they got to win four games?
Speaker 3 (47:09):
Well first they Yeah, first they have to win games. Well,
they got to win any game. Yeah, Ols, Sorry, coach Keeler,
your five thousand and one.
Speaker 4 (47:17):
But you know, we might win more than three. They've
won three to the last three years. He might do
better than three. Is gonna be like at the four
or five statue on Broad North Broad If he wins.
Speaker 3 (47:26):
Five, that's a tall task.
Speaker 4 (47:29):
You remember when we were back in the late nineties
and you and I would have the same the same conversation.
Speaker 3 (47:34):
Yes, when Bobby Wallace was there and Goldie came in,
you know, did all right? Did all right? Ruled it
all right? Yeah, the landscape has changed and they're back
to where they were, uh they are. Everything comes full circle.
It's been a it's been a rough COVID.
Speaker 2 (47:49):
The good news is what's more fascinating to be clamoring
for tickets to one the Oklahoma's absolutely.
Speaker 4 (47:56):
And what's more fascinating team halfway through the second that
their basketball program isn't more relevant. That's the fascinating thing
to me because to me that history there. Yeah, there's
a great and that just surprises me. And he's trying,
I know what guys trying. Adam Fisher is doing as
well as you could possibly do. But what happened was
(48:17):
very simply. They left the Atlantic Ten because of football
and went to a league where no one is interested
in the basketball and they're against teams from Florida.
Speaker 3 (48:28):
Did you see did you see what's trying to Memphis? Memphis?
Speaker 4 (48:32):
If Memphis leave, somebody said that league, that's it, why
would you want to be in the room.
Speaker 3 (48:38):
But Temple's in it and they can't do anything about it. Yeah,
Central Florida's in the Big twelve. Now they're going. All
the good teams you left.
Speaker 4 (48:45):
Houston gone, Houston's gone, Central Florida's going on.
Speaker 2 (48:48):
South Florida will be going. At some point the going
Temple might be gone. It might be gone as is gone,
gone as in no conference. Let me ask you a question,
really on I wish they could do what Connecticut did
somehow get into a real basketball league with rivalries.
Speaker 3 (49:06):
I don't know. I don't think that's what happened in football.
Speaker 4 (49:09):
You got to give up football, and I don't think
they're willing to do that now for reasons.
Speaker 3 (49:13):
Let me Connecticut did it ain't marked that.
Speaker 4 (49:15):
Rey well for but connecticuts and their football stunk, but
they didn't care because they were winning national championship.
Speaker 3 (49:21):
If Temple went to the Atlantic ten and basketball, yes,
what would what may be like? Well, I mean they
know they'd be.
Speaker 4 (49:29):
Like an instant contender because the Atlantic ten is not
very good. It hasn't been good for quite a while now.
It's not the league you and I grew up in
the nineties when they had five and six teams getting
next seat double a tournament fits there and maybe back
in the league with La Salan c Joe that's great. Yeah, Explorers,
I think people would care more. Yeah, I mean really
just a North Texas? Are they in that league?
Speaker 3 (49:51):
I think so? I don't know.
Speaker 4 (49:53):
That's the other problem. Nobody knows who's in the America.
I can't keep up with which teams are. I mean,
you imagine if we were still doing this living and
we were trying to cover the Stotson.
Speaker 3 (50:02):
I know one they don't know who's in what league.
Speaker 4 (50:05):
I would be covering no road games because they wouldn't
be sending me to Frisco, Texas. North I think you
should definitely be would have been set to North Texas
for Saturday games with no Sunday paper.
Speaker 3 (50:15):
I could see that happened.
Speaker 4 (50:16):
They wouldn't send me to Washington to cover against George Washington.
Send you to Annapolis for Navy. Yes, you would definitely
going to Annapolis now. And I understand why Temple did it.
They had to because football at that point was relevant.
Matt rule was there. Yes, they were.
Speaker 3 (50:33):
I mean they were a team that they won the American.
They won the American one.
Speaker 4 (50:36):
Year dare Day almost beating Saturday night Halloween.
Speaker 3 (50:41):
People don't just watch those highlights. And then where don
Kaiser to will fully.
Speaker 4 (50:46):
When they hired when Manny Diaz went there and then
left after two weeks and they hired the guy from
Northern Illinois.
Speaker 3 (50:53):
And I said to somebody, I remember I had discovered
I do, but he wasn't.
Speaker 4 (51:00):
You can't hire a guy from the Calb Illinois who's
going to bring his whole.
Speaker 3 (51:05):
Staff in it doesn't know I mean, Adasio didn't know
North Brotreet football city to Cobb, Illinois. I had people
tell me that this is not going to work.
Speaker 4 (51:16):
People needed to tell you that, no, but they wouldn't
you have already known you're Mike kr Man, You're from northeast.
This is a guy who went to Northern Illinois. They
were thirteen and oh they played in the Orange Bowl.
Speaker 5 (51:28):
Know what?
Speaker 3 (51:28):
Oh yeah, the one but like, yeah, Northern Illinois.
Speaker 4 (51:31):
Northern Illinois was in the Orange Bowl. They did not well,
they didn't they lost, but they didn't like they play.
I'm trying to remember. I don't think it was Miami.
He was like an Oklahoma or somebody like that. What
year was this, like twenty twelve, thirteen, somewhere in there
of Northern Illinois.
Speaker 3 (51:47):
He takes over the team he coached.
Speaker 4 (51:48):
I think he coached him in the Orange Bowl because
the coach left to go somewhere else. And the next
year they were like eight and five. Then the next
year they were like four and eight. This is the
guy temple higher that I didn't hire him after he
was in the Archsball. I got it two years later
than he's got it.
Speaker 6 (52:04):
Northern Illinois and Florida State And what was the fine
tough match thirty one to ten?
Speaker 4 (52:09):
Okay, And what did Northern Illinois do like the next
three years? The next three years after that, Rod carry
Broad Ron and Rod. Yeah, and he pulled his whole staff.
He bought like everybody from the calb Have you ever
been to the caw Billy.
Speaker 3 (52:26):
You've been to Illinois, but have you been to.
Speaker 4 (52:28):
The Calboy And I don't want Why is North Broad
Street anything like the Calvi Illinois. No, there's cows and
silos there. I know, cols or silos at North Broad Street.
Last time long, if you're going to.
Speaker 3 (52:39):
Be the coach at Temple and this is where I
think case will do.
Speaker 4 (52:42):
I now give you more Casey Killer who's won national
titles at two different schools in FBS Blue Hens and
where else? Uh Sam Houston State. Okay he You have
to embrace North Broad You have to embrace the north
South Jersey, Pennsylvania. That's where where you're getting most of
your kids from. That's what Matt Rule did. That's where
(53:04):
Golden did. Now you can get kids from Flora, I
mean you can, you know, go out and get you
have to do that. And the kid's got to be
an inch too small and in too short. Yeah, ten
pounds to you know, not as big.
Speaker 3 (53:15):
That's for a second. Slow, that's the guys you got
to get.
Speaker 4 (53:18):
And then then you get a man of Kevitch who
turns out to be an All American who plays six
years in the NFL or whatever he did?
Speaker 3 (53:24):
Got the Rod Carry?
Speaker 7 (53:26):
After that?
Speaker 3 (53:26):
Give me to Rod Carry? Uh after what you're gonna say?
Speaker 6 (53:29):
Twenty thirteen, eleven and three, eight and six, five and seven,
there you go, eight and five, eight and six, hired
by Temple, hired by Temple in the Mac.
Speaker 3 (53:39):
He was in the Mac Maxin. Now who is the
more recent coach that's just got fired? The guy?
Speaker 4 (53:46):
Oh, he's now at Penn State. Yeah, and he was
actually supposed to be. He seemed like a good guy.
Everybody was talking about him. But I just think maybe
he walked into an impossible spot. Yeah, completely important.
Speaker 3 (53:58):
I think Casey has a chance to just make them.
So we're an average team.
Speaker 2 (54:04):
What you're telling me, when the show ends, we're going
up and bet in the house at five thousand, the one.
Speaker 3 (54:08):
That's not five millions. That's what we're talking ourselves into.
Speaker 4 (54:11):
Give me the dollar I'll take, I'll take the fire,
and if God forbid, they win, I'll just give you
everything I have because you got it and I owe
you some were I love those bets, Dick. When some
team is like some ungodly number, and you're like, what
is the difference? Make it five million? Because they ain't winning.
(54:33):
I mean, you certainly attract some action. You're getting somebody
five I mean you know. And every once in a while,
like one even of my two loyal alums here, once
every ten years we're deflated one of those bets, like
the one of two hundred the ones cash. Like what
was remember when Seattle back in the seventies won the
title and they switched coaches. They went to Lenny Wilkins,
(54:55):
and some guy went out and bet the year if
they won. The tone was the seventy nine beat the Bullets, right,
and but somebody went out and bet them because or
maybe it was the year before they switched coaches or something.
Tom the Sulky too well that they lost to the
Bullets at the second seven games. But somebody went out
and bet him in some goofy number and they got
to like game seven and the guy almost cash.
Speaker 3 (55:16):
That happens every now and again.
Speaker 2 (55:18):
Hedged the first year when they were big. I think
that was the one. Yeah, the SuperSonics give Seattle to
basketball team. By the way, they are going to Great
Sports Town and in Vegas. Vegas will get in Vegas.
We'll get a team too. I can't believe the NBA,
which is big in Vegas, is letting football and baseball
and hockey go there first.
Speaker 3 (55:37):
It's like, what do you do this? Basketball is gonna
be the last one? Think about this.
Speaker 4 (55:41):
Like ten years ago, you couldn't talk about betty but
that was like for booting.
Speaker 3 (55:45):
Now there's four min there's gonna be four Major.
Speaker 2 (55:48):
Francis Is Vegas and you town guess what's what's the difference.
Sports betting became legal everywhere and they started sponsoring people.
Speaker 4 (55:56):
There was a time when the NFL would say to you, oh,
you can't talk about that now what Jimney de Greek
came on and it was.
Speaker 2 (56:01):
Lake But Mike, here's the good news. We can't are
sponsored by bet Parks.

Gambling problem one eight hundred Gambler getting to the end
of the PGA Tour season because those people are very smart.
They do not want anything to do with the NFL.
They are in Minnesota this week. Mike will be back

(56:52):
We'll talk about that. We got John Janson's Bottom of

Speaker 4 (57:57):
The only app I recommend must be twenty one and
an NJPA Maryland, Ohio or Michigan Gambling problem one eight
hundred gambler Mike wanted to know if we're going to
talk about the sixers.
Speaker 3 (58:08):
Of course we're going to talk about the sixers we have.
Speaker 2 (58:11):
It's been a week, week and a half now since
the long Joel Embeach story came out on ESPN dot com.
Speaker 3 (58:17):
Hopefully everybody's had a chance to update. I never still
never finished. Yeah, I mean it's it was the terrific.
You won't finish it.
Speaker 2 (58:23):
I won't finish fascinating, but it's gonna take you at
a minimum of thirty minutes and maybe more depending on
how fast you read. I think I get the gist
of it at bet Parks at the moment, I just
wanted to go over a few things. That season obviously
some months away yet uh Oklahoma City is the favorite
to repeat his NBA champions at two to one. Two
teams are at eight to one next any guesses is
(58:44):
who they might be at the moment eight to one.
Second choice is to win. Let me take that back.
Three teams at bet parks are eight to one. I'll
say one is the Cavs.
Speaker 3 (58:53):
That's correct. I'm still one is the Knicks. Incorrect? Oh, okay, incorrect.
I thought the Knicks was tied, So it's got to be.
Speaker 4 (59:00):
West Boston still up there. Incorrect, Not without Tatum. Boston's
thirty thirty to one, which I think is a hell
of a price. It's got to be if somehow Tatum
makes it back by It's got to be teams in
the West Houston.
Speaker 3 (59:13):
Houston is correct, Denver, Denver is correct.
Speaker 2 (59:17):
They're the cost second choices Cleveland, Denver, Houston at eight,
Knicks at nine, Orlando at Fourteen's Detroit LAC at sixteen,
l A l at eighteen, Minnesota eighteen Detroit.
Speaker 3 (59:31):
I believe it is twenty, So Orlando's that much ahead
of Detroit.
Speaker 6 (59:34):
Yeah, that's they made a splash getting get that.
Speaker 3 (59:39):
Detroit was on the come.
Speaker 2 (59:41):
Yeah, and Beasley was one of their good players, and
he's in the middle of that gambling. Not that that's
changing the bottom mine and keep in mind Detroit as
good as they were last year, they played the vast
majority of the year without their second best player.
Speaker 4 (59:54):
So yeah, I mean they're they're they're dangerous team. The
Sixers are forty to This is.
Speaker 3 (01:00:00):
All I thought. This is all pending on where Ben
Simmons land.
Speaker 2 (01:00:03):
I thought you were going to tell me five thousand,
forty to one m v P favorite is Ben Simmons? No, incorrect,
it's the guy from OKC incorrect. Oh, Anthony Edwards incorrect?
Speaker 3 (01:00:15):
No, no, wait mate, let me think about this one.
Hold on, this is not hard. Oh yo, the guy
from the Lakers. Incorrect. Jok Yoki? Thank you? Oh okay,
you're right. I'm sorry. I'm sorry, Mike. How can I
be not be right?
Speaker 4 (01:00:29):
I'm looking at the So he's bed Park, He's he's over,
he's over SGA two seventy five to one?
Speaker 3 (01:00:36):
What's your Luca to Yoka? Just two? What's six? Third favorite?
If you're a believer, Mike, and I know you are,
Joel and beat at forty, you could make it four hundred.
Speaker 4 (01:00:51):
First of all, he won't qualify because he's not gonna
play sixty five games. That's I forgot about. Sean are
you there, I am yes, forty to one Sean sixty
five games? Has Sean is a belief? Can we take
him at forty? Should I go bet whatever I have
left for my orieles.
Speaker 8 (01:01:09):
I don't see any chance of him suiting up for
sixty five this year. I do think that he's gonna
have like a better season than Summer giving him credit
for I think there will be a couple of stretches
where he looks a bit like dwell embiid.
Speaker 3 (01:01:19):
But I don't think MVP's in the future.
Speaker 6 (01:01:21):
Okay, So if Sean Bernard is not Paul is even
telling you not to go about Paul.
Speaker 3 (01:01:26):
Would Paul George have a couple stretches where he looks good?
I should hope. So I don't think he give you
worse than last year.
Speaker 8 (01:01:33):
The knee surgery popping up out of nowhere for Paul
George is not something that is encouraging, especially because he
was at Summer League and just walking around like normal,
like everyone seems like he was completely fine out there,
and then all of a sudden.
Speaker 3 (01:01:44):
Yeah, does he play sixty five games this year?
Speaker 5 (01:01:47):
No?
Speaker 3 (01:01:47):
Probably not, God, sixty five? How about forty five?
Speaker 4 (01:01:52):
And everybody's been waiting for five minutes. My current on
golf everywhere. But the really good news is all right
enough to say, la l the golf is on the
screen somehow, and I don't even know what where hell
they are they are.
Speaker 3 (01:02:05):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (01:02:06):
I am depressed with golf because this week my pool
that I'm in that I'm trying to I'm in fifth place.
Speaker 3 (01:02:12):
I'm trying to hold on to the top eight. He
gets something, he might get a potter that I don't
need or whatever. But I had Tony and it's like
the seventh, three eighth times has happened this year. He
was like the eighth. He hasn't been playing well. He's
like the eighth betting favorite. He shoots three hundred and
seventy two and he was like two under after the
(01:02:34):
first time he got yesterday at a PGA Tour event
where people are shooting sixty. Just it just it irritates
guys that I don't even know. I just want my guy.
I just want my guy to finish fifteenth. He doesn't
have to win, and this is something.
Speaker 4 (01:02:49):
There's one more tournament, I believe next week before the
FedEx playoffs, right, So that's correct. The leader is four Oliston,
who actually I've heard his name a few times. He's
fourteen under. Then we have guys I know what price,
he's four fifty. The other guy that's four fifty is
Jake Knapp, who has been his name's been, I've heard him. Yeah,
(01:03:12):
he's mad. Then there's like three or four guys that
I'm not that aware of. Then we got down to
I think this, I think this is really cool. Chris Gotterop,
who went to Rutgers, is from Jersey who I interviewed
a couple of years ago when he was playing in
a corn fur event up at Metida, Coonk near Great Adventure.
He's had the greatest two weeks. He wons the Scottish
(01:03:33):
Open two weeks ago. What he finished at the British
like fifth, fifth, So he's probably made maybe three million dollars.
Speaker 3 (01:03:41):
In the last and he came here because he was
probably committed to it. He finished third, third, third the British.
Speaker 4 (01:03:46):
Okay, so he made over a million at the British
or thereabouts, and winning the Scottish I'm sure whatever.
Speaker 3 (01:03:53):
He's he's tied for fifth far back, four back, four back,
and he's twelve to one. I'm tapping at on gotta up.
Speaker 4 (01:04:01):
Put the guys tapping in, but put the guy on
looking at in the same kind of vein, and you
make the bet. Might be Olsen because he's got well.
Windham Clark, who's been playing really well. He played well
last week by I say what madman who is barred
from barred from Oakmont bart that was it. He's got it,
He'll make it, He'll do They'll he'll do whatever they
want him. Because the twenty thirty three opens there, and
(01:04:23):
I'm assuming if Windom Clark's still playing by that and
he's gonna want to play unbarred and he's fourteen to one,
he's I'm gonna take him at fourteen to one because
I'm looking for a price.
Speaker 3 (01:04:33):
Our guy Battia is also at the sand and he's
twenty to one. Twenty one. That's that's not a bid number.
Lefty as cash k I think that's Batilla. So there
we have Mike Carnal. Anybody tries to bet golf.
Speaker 4 (01:04:47):
It's funny last week when we were hearing look Scotty
and Scotty wound up winning and Scotty's this that was
my next question. So this is the best stretch of
golf since Tiger Woods twenty five years ago. Yeah, I
would say Rory back in the two twelve to two
fourteen Rory was kind of like this.
Speaker 3 (01:05:07):
I don't know if he was quite like this.
Speaker 4 (01:05:09):
Scotty has now won if I have this correct, nine
or ten straight tournaments or he was leading after the
third round.
Speaker 3 (01:05:17):
I think it was correct.
Speaker 4 (01:05:18):
Well that's Tiger, like I mean, that's that's just what
he does. And and the thing is, and like I said,
I loved it when he came out last week before
the pretty sure and said, you know it's great. I
love it, but it's not my whole life. And one
guy on radio in this town who I'm a friend with,
and like, how can you say that? I think it's
great that he said that, Hey, I got a life,
(01:05:39):
and when I go out between the the eighteen holes,
I'm trying my hot and he is. And the thing is,
remember he was pretty good in twenty two and then
twenty three, Yep, he couldn't putty.
Speaker 3 (01:05:52):
Well, apparently he went out with a guy, worked with
the guy. He's now sixth I.
Speaker 4 (01:05:56):
Think in the putting statistics, and it makes all the
difference because he hits all the shots like he went
out last week. What was he leading by going into
the four shots? I think he was leading by three
or four shots. I want to say led by four,
one by four. At one point he was up by
like eight first hall or something. First holes. He goes
yeut and hits the shot. Yeah, four feet, ye five feet,
makes the butt and.
Speaker 3 (01:06:16):
You're just like, this is over. I mean fifteen Jordan's speed.
Nobody talks about that one. But that was one year.
One year. Yeah, no, no, no, no, Kyle.
Speaker 4 (01:06:26):
You make a good point because he did win twenty
seventeen British Open. Yeah, fifteen was one of the great years.
Speaker 3 (01:06:33):
Yeah. And after's PGA in US Open.
Speaker 4 (01:06:35):
British Open, he missed the playoff by one. He missed
a puddle in the last hole, and then he finished
second in the PGA to h the guy. I like
Jason Day, who would also finished second in the British
But that was legendary.
Speaker 5 (01:06:50):
It was what he had.
Speaker 3 (01:06:51):
It was short lived. There some Chefler career stats.
Speaker 2 (01:06:55):
Third youngest player with fifteen PGA Tour wins and for ma,
how old is he? Tiger twenty four, Nicholas twenty five, Yeah,
fourth golfer to win the Master's PGA and Open before
turning thirty Woods Nicholas and before thirty legendary player player
Gary player player player. Uh so, yeah, I mean that's
(01:07:18):
some serious elite. That's good company, history, historical company. And
as you said to me, Mike off Air, he's a
bit of a late bloomer.
Speaker 5 (01:07:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:07:27):
He was on the corn Ferry Tour. He wasn't like Tiger.
He didn't walk out of college on to the PGA tour.
He had to earn his way on like Rory was
doing it when he was twenty one twenty two. Rory
was you know, yep. And Scheffler like our man got
her up. Also grew up in New Jersey and his
family ended up moving to Texa.
Speaker 3 (01:07:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:07:44):
I didn't realize early young, but his first golf was
in New Jersey. Well it was like it was like
when there must be something and he won. Spee's family
was from Bethlehem.
Speaker 3 (01:07:52):
Yeah, there you go.
Speaker 4 (01:07:53):
When But here's the thing now for people to like
to look ahead. And you know we got a Ryder
Cup this year, and yes we do next year. US Open.
Is it shinecok Hills great place to play. He will
be going, well, he's got to win the US Open. Now,
now Arnold Palmer, I'm trying to think that Sam Sneed
never won a US Open. That was the only one
he didn't win, and Tom Watson PGA and a PGA.
Speaker 3 (01:08:17):
When Arnold played was a match play event for much
of his career.
Speaker 4 (01:08:20):
No, Nineteen fifty eight was when they changed, really right,
so he a lot of his career was when being
played at the stript.
Speaker 3 (01:08:31):
Fifty eight was the first year. And Scotty Scheffler's an
ex convict, that's true, that's the First's why he took
him me to PGA this year. It was the only
good thing I got right all year. First ex convict
to win win a major.
Speaker 4 (01:08:44):
Trying to think there was another guy Torino never won
a Master's and Rory obviously well he completed his.
Speaker 3 (01:08:52):
And there was one other Gotford that had won like
the three of them, but hadn't won one of the majors.
I think it was the US Open.
Speaker 4 (01:08:58):
But anyway, Scott Scheffler now for the rest of his life,
until he wins the US Open, he'll be doing the
same thing Rory did for the last decade.
Speaker 3 (01:09:06):
When Rory went to the other three blew like how
many US Opens.
Speaker 2 (01:09:12):
We should have wanted to I should have wanted to
marry one where he hit the ball off the roof
in New York right wing foot right like he even
said thousand and six, I'm line, I'm an idiot.
Speaker 3 (01:09:23):
But the great thing about Phil Micholson, I'll get m
all to Clifford. So he loses the thirteen US Open.
The next month he goes to UH Scotland wins.
Speaker 4 (01:09:34):
The British, which was the one major they said he
couldn't win because his game was too So if he
wins the US Open at Maryon, he probably doesn't win
the British, but he probably would have rather had the US.
Speaker 3 (01:09:45):
But he won a major.
Speaker 2 (01:09:47):
And you were covering. No, you didn't have Phil, you
were Tiger It Maryon right, correct, Mike Kern as always.
PGA Championship became a stroke play about nineteen fifty eight
after he last play format for its first fie Atlanta
Country Club in Dulver, Canton.
Speaker 3 (01:10:02):
That was the first regged PGA with that match plub
it was either fifty seven. Yeah, it was your La
country Club? Are you a member there? I've played it
a few times. It's a really nice horse.
Speaker 4 (01:10:15):
Of course you have why wouldn't you have played, Well,
you haven't played every course. There's a lot of them
that's sort of slipped.
Speaker 3 (01:10:21):
You haven't played every course. How can that be? Might
don't they know who you are?
Speaker 4 (01:10:25):
You know?
Speaker 3 (01:10:26):
Don't you just go like to the to the uh
the head pro and go do you don't you know
who I am?
Speaker 5 (01:10:32):
No?
Speaker 3 (01:10:32):
You don't do that.
Speaker 4 (01:10:33):
People people think they do that at Augusta. I think
that's what I do. This is a great Mike current start.
So I met the Rose Bowl like one hundred years ago.
Penn State's got their great team and the team both
teams like what three or four days before the game
go to Disneyland.
Speaker 2 (01:10:48):
It's like part of the deal. Hey, I got my
family after my kids are young. He guess he guess.
Speaker 3 (01:10:52):
Hey, everybody will get in, fren It's no problem. Just
tell them who you are, where you come from, and
there's no problem.
Speaker 4 (01:10:58):
I'm thinking, I've worked for a new paper. I can't
just be getting in just telling me you are, You're
good to go. I actually paid by way. Yeah, I
mean I think I probably had a media pass, but
it was like, I'm not doing that.
Speaker 3 (01:11:12):
Mike said, what did you get in for for? No,
I did media people. No, that's not right. I gotta
talk to these people. They have to be punished.
Speaker 4 (01:11:22):
Oh my, just legendary stuff, aren't Eagles Super Bowl favorites?
Turn the page. Nobody wants to hear about what happened
last year.
Speaker 6 (01:11:31):
Turn the the next Now, how are reports from training camp?
Because that's going to alter my outlook on the next season.
Speaker 2 (01:11:39):
Mike, how how much information have you digested over the
first several days of training camp that you will then
you're putting into your computer at home and you will
then use that as we go.
Speaker 4 (01:11:52):
For Actually, I got I gotta be honest. I read
Jeff McLean's story I think two days ago. Because Jeff
does a great job. I don't care about you.
Speaker 3 (01:12:04):
And that's a guy. Unless the guy gets hurt. That's
what I say. The only thing I will say.
Speaker 4 (01:12:08):
There's a couple of things that I've sort of been
paying attention to. Jordan Davis's conditioning because they say he's okay,
yeah they say this, and where cooper disease is going
because they've been the yeah, maybe you'll be safety, maybe
you'll be maybe. I ain't worried about Jailen Hurts. I
ain't worried about sa Kwan Barkley. I ain't worried about
(01:12:29):
anybody on their offensive.
Speaker 3 (01:12:30):
Line, you know what. I was thinking about this the
other day. So the media came under and still comes under.
Speaker 4 (01:12:37):
Scrutiny, the media for pointing out last year like that
the passing game wasn't real good.
Speaker 3 (01:12:44):
You know who said the passing game wasn't real good?
Speaker 5 (01:12:46):
A J.
Speaker 4 (01:12:47):
Brown after that game like week twelve. Why do we
so now it's like, well, you guys said jail and pass.
No AJ you said they couldn't pass. So I don't
want to hear that crap. And obviously Jalen can pass.
He can't pass as good as maybe three or four
or five or six. He's not the greatest passer, but
that doesn't matter more than enough. He's a great quarterback
(01:13:11):
and he does and he's a winner. He's been a
winner his whole Life's true, and I think he's a
perfect fit for this team.
Speaker 3 (01:13:18):
But that doesn't mean that if I say the guy from.
Speaker 4 (01:13:20):
Buffalo might be better if you had a drift tomorrow,
Oh you don't think Jalen's any good?
Speaker 3 (01:13:25):
No, I just think the guy from Buffalo might be better. Yeah,
you know, it's interesting, and maybe he's not better.
Speaker 6 (01:13:31):
It's very hard to throw for four thousand yards when
you're running back rushed for twenty five years.
Speaker 4 (01:13:36):
Yeah, I mean I like Josh Allen. I actually would
take Hurts, and I have no problem with that.
Speaker 3 (01:13:42):
I like Hurts more.
Speaker 4 (01:13:43):
But if guys, I'm a Josh Allen fan, and you
can certainly say maybe he's got would you take the
guy in Buffalo or Baltimore? I would take Jackson Burrow Mahomes.
Speaker 3 (01:13:55):
That's about it. I would take Allen. Yeah, that's again
for this team. Yeah, for I take number one. If
you said to me, you just did I take Hurts over.
I'm not gonna argue with you. I'm not gonna say
you don't know what you're talking about.
Speaker 4 (01:14:08):
But why do Philodolph your fans get so angry? We
got a ring, We've got Jaalen Hurts. Who's going to
read that stuff and get all.
Speaker 3 (01:14:18):
My anger is part of the DNA, not from the fans.
Speaker 4 (01:14:21):
We won, Dick, we won the Super Bowl? Why why
why would I be angry?
Speaker 3 (01:14:28):
I want you to be angry. It's not.
Speaker 5 (01:14:31):
We need.
Speaker 3 (01:14:33):
The Super bowls. Jay Hurry right the.
Speaker 4 (01:14:39):
Set, He's the first exhibition game, they don't win against
Jailaren hurts his upset that he was ranked in the
ninth and it wasn't ESPN that ranked them, it.
Speaker 3 (01:14:48):
Was the general managers.
Speaker 4 (01:14:49):
And that's when nobody gets because they say ESPN.
Speaker 3 (01:14:53):
They're they're just in jailing Again.
Speaker 7 (01:14:55):
Fine, I like it.
Speaker 3 (01:14:58):
They won the champions so hard that.
Speaker 4 (01:15:00):
Would I rather have the Eagles have lost to the
Chiefs and Jalen be ranked second?
Speaker 1 (01:15:04):
No, no, no.
Speaker 4 (01:15:09):
And then the other thing, well, you know, he's out
played Mahomes and two Super Bowls. He's buried in Mahomes. No,
he's not, but he out played Mahomes into and that's great.
That's wonderful for Jack. And he came off the bench
in the SEC title game and led Alabama to the
title after he'd.
Speaker 3 (01:15:24):
Been benched for Tua. That's great.
Speaker 4 (01:15:26):
And he went to Oklahoma and finished second in the Heisman.
I give Jalen won. It was somebody really good. It
might have been Burrow. It was Burrows here it was
or the kids from Clemson. It was here to Borrow
and kids from Clemson. I don't remember what year Jail
what Jalen came out and tent might have been Borrow. Yeah,
so he wasn't beating Burrow.
Speaker 3 (01:15:47):
I mean whatever.
Speaker 6 (01:15:49):
But two, but two things can be true. Jalen's great, Yeah,
Jalen Hurts out played Mahomes and two Super Bowls s.
Does that mean he needs better than Mahomes. No, Jalen
Hurts only threw for twenty nine hundred yards.
Speaker 3 (01:16:00):
Does that mean he can't?
Speaker 4 (01:16:01):
The same two layoffs can be true the same Philadelphia fans.
If Jalen goes two or three games this year and
we're's not that good, they'll be killing them.
Speaker 3 (01:16:10):
They'll be killing them. Bring back Nick Falls. Let Saquan
get hurt. Let's let's see if Saquan gets hurt, who's
the backup quarter? Doesn't matter, Channer McKee doesn't matter. I
could be the backup court. Dorian Thompson Robinson.
Speaker 4 (01:16:23):
Let's say Squan's got to sit out two or three
games and all of a sudden, Jaalen isn't that good.
The same people now who are saying he's getting dis
by the NFL or whoever, they'll be on him.
Speaker 3 (01:16:33):
Just like they roon him last year. Hey, his own
teammate came out and said our passing game sucks. They
should have never got rid of Kenning Pickett. That's true.
You know what's right about this? It's only John my Man.
I can't I can't stand. Training camps the worst. It's
the worst. Jalen hurts through an incompletion. They're now fifth.
Speaker 4 (01:16:54):
Training camp is the first four weeks of the NFL season.
Last year, the Eagles first four games, think about they
should have beat Atlanta.
Speaker 3 (01:17:02):
Okay they didn't. Okay, the game was here. They but
they they were hurt. A j didn't play, the tackle
didn't play. It didn't mean anything. That's the new exhibition game.
Speaker 4 (01:17:13):
The game that bothered me the most was the Cleveland
game when the coach went nuts after it. Dude, you
beat the bread But by what did we said? We
sat here and said look at their schedule and that
they're going to eat six and two or five and three.
Speaker 3 (01:17:25):
They were six and two.
Speaker 4 (01:17:26):
They hit their stride midway through the season and didn't
look back. They were the best team in football over
the last ten weeks.
Speaker 3 (01:17:32):
And it's because and And almost lost it. This is
how fragile sports are.
Speaker 4 (01:17:39):
They were the best team, best team. They could have
lost to the Panthers, the Browns and Jacksonville.
Speaker 3 (01:17:44):
All at home, all at home.
Speaker 4 (01:17:47):
Then the pan the Panthers guy dropped the pass right.
I think Jacksonville threw the interception right. And the Browns
they the bread. Oh my god, the Browns were so
bad that day.
Speaker 3 (01:17:57):
If you if you just said after that game, this
team is gonna dominating. When the Super Bowl and.
Speaker 4 (01:18:02):
The coach came in, the coach went up in the
stands and was howering at the fans and I think,
this is my belief. Somebody, I know they the lineman
went in and said, let's run the ball, which was
the greatest thing they ever did, and God bless him,
the coach listened.
Speaker 3 (01:18:16):
He said, you know what, you're right, good idea. We
Sigon said. Somebody went to the coach whether it was
and just said yeah, yeah, and you know what, and
he calmed down. Sure, he just coached.
Speaker 4 (01:18:29):
And I think Nick Sirianni, I'm not saying he's the
best coach in he's the most underrated coach nobody.
Speaker 3 (01:18:36):
In four years.
Speaker 4 (01:18:37):
Their first four years, he had one bad stretch. They
had a seven game stretch where they stunk. Nobody could
figure out why the quarterback played bad, the team played bad,
the leaders didn't lead. I don't know what happened. He's
been to two Super Bowls, he won one and came
within a field goal of winning against the team it's
one three and in my opinion, the best thing he
(01:18:58):
did was and I really to this day, I don't
know what happened that implosion at the end of two
years ago.
Speaker 3 (01:19:04):
That could have ruined this screw. Not only did it
not ruin them, they came back to the next year.
Speaker 5 (01:19:09):
We were.
Speaker 3 (01:19:11):
Sure after four games, people were like, hey, this is
not well.
Speaker 6 (01:19:15):
Yeah, because look what happened. I mean, they had they
won that opener against Green Bay. Then they had I
still don't know how they lost that Atlanta game that wasically.
Speaker 3 (01:19:24):
Dropped the ball if he doesn't drop the New Orleans
and beat a team that had scored forty points in.
Speaker 6 (01:19:28):
Their game, but that was an ugly game. Never again
got the crap kicked out of them by Tampa.
Speaker 3 (01:19:34):
Bay and the tacking brown didn't play that game, and.
Speaker 6 (01:19:39):
And then beat a horrible Browns team, And you're sitting
there and you're like, this team's mediocre.
Speaker 4 (01:19:46):
And they went to Cincinnati, but Tampa always kills them
for the reasons I don't Cooper.
Speaker 3 (01:19:51):
They went to Cincinnati knew one. They went too well,
they went to the Giants and yeah, but I don't
count that. Where did they go? They beat Miami at home? Right, yeah?
Speaker 6 (01:20:00):
They they almost choked against Jacksonville. They beat the Craft
out of Dallas. How about Miami Miami. Now they didn't
play Miamis but yeah that's and then then the roll Star.
But you're sitting there after four games, like, this is
the same team.
Speaker 3 (01:20:16):
How can the Eagles do they do the playoffs? They
did do better, yes, because Carter saved their but.
Speaker 4 (01:20:24):
How can they almost lose the Cleveland, the Tampa not Tampa,
Jacksonville and Carolina, they're three of the worst teams in
the league.
Speaker 3 (01:20:33):
Was at home, and I just think they they they
were waiting for later.
Speaker 6 (01:20:39):
In the same way that the Saints could be the
best offensive team in the league for the first four games.
Speaker 3 (01:20:44):
And people were criticizing him for the way they were playing.
Speaker 4 (01:20:48):
That's right, They're like, they're not throwing the board, dude,
you got a two thousand yard rusher, you got one
of the best offensive lines in the league.
Speaker 3 (01:20:56):
Why do you have to throw the football? The object
is to win the game. That's the last time.
Speaker 6 (01:21:01):
Look, because I won four thousand yards and forty and
the other thing.
Speaker 3 (01:21:07):
And I still say this is the bigger reason. Even
in Saqui. This is the last thing you're saying for him.
They had the best defense in the league. Yes they did.
Speaker 2 (01:21:14):
Sports you're there and everywhere. I gotta get it in
before Mike goes on again. Sorry, Now that's what you
are you heard for? You're heard it to go berserve.

Speaker 1 (01:22:12):
Sprats total spin all the prop that's in between. It's
the gambler.
Speaker 4 (01:22:30):
Mike car just promised that he was not going to
talk to this segment. Does anybody listening believe that what
are the betting on?
Speaker 3 (01:22:37):
One to a million? Five thousand to one? I'd say
it's over. You lose sports here, there and everywhere.
Speaker 4 (01:22:43):
Broadcasting live from the Parks Casino Sportsbook in bed Sell
and brought.
Speaker 2 (01:22:47):
You exclicively by the bet Parks Casino and sportsbook at work. Odds,
bat slots and games all come together right in your pocket.
Sportsbook and casino in one I've got to Betparks dot com.
Speaker 4 (01:22:57):
The only app I recommend must be twenty one in
New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio, Michigan. Gambling problem one eight
hundred gambler. I know someone who has no problems gambling.
The question is how well will he do gambling?
Speaker 2 (01:23:12):
John Jansen joins us now from Westchester, South Carolina.
Speaker 3 (01:23:16):
Is my understanding.
Speaker 4 (01:23:17):
I know that's about right. John, You're in Westchester, South Carolina.
Speaker 5 (01:23:21):
Yeah, sure, I think so. Is that where west Chester
University is the Golden Rams?
Speaker 3 (01:23:26):
I think yeah, okay, yeah vibes.
Speaker 4 (01:23:29):
Yeah, Eagles on there way back in the day, but
not today. So a couple thoughts Phillies Yankees. Philly's minus
one twenty one Yankees plus one oh four. That's an
afternoon game. Marcus Stroman who certainly can get beat up
at any time against Ranger Suarez, and he thought, before
you get into games, you like any thoughts on that
(01:23:49):
game today?
Speaker 5 (01:23:51):
Yeah, that's an interesting one, only because of Suarez. He's
giving up a ton of walks and a ton of
hits recently. The hits come and go. That's not a
big problem. He's a ground ball contact pitcher, so that
stuff is going to happen at times, but all the time.
When he gets in trouble, whenever rangerswars is not his best,
it's usually because he's trying to be too perfect around
the corners and he's walking guys. As a ground ball pitcher,
(01:24:13):
contact pitcher, you do not want to give up extra
base runners, and he's giving up a lot of that.
So that's the only concern. But it's a small sample
size until you the last two games, so I think
he can fix that a little bit at least in
this one, at least enough to be able to out
pitch Marcus Stroman. So I think the pill should be
good today.
Speaker 2 (01:24:29):
Can I give you something, Eddie Barkowitz? Here's a yeah,
go ahead, Yeah, I got I got pitcher props, right.
Speaker 4 (01:24:34):
Eddie Barkowitz, who are colleague from the Daily News who
now does various things. Marcus Stroman has a solid two
two six and thirteen appearances eleven starts against the Phillies.
Speaker 3 (01:24:44):
Most of the Phillies top players have had trouble with him.
Speaker 4 (01:24:47):
Interesting, I'm just that's fine. Yeah, that means nothing when
they start playing.
Speaker 3 (01:24:53):
Got historical data. Yeah, I've never been a big Stroman fan.
Speaker 4 (01:24:56):
Here's a bet Park's pitcher props Joe for to strikeouts
thrown Strowman over two and a half.
Speaker 2 (01:25:03):
Minus two ninety five over four and a half plus
one ninety five, Ranger over four and a half minus
two seventy eight over six and a half plus one
seventy and a player props strikeouts Do anything for you here, John.
Speaker 5 (01:25:20):
No, not really, because the Stroman won. I would be
somewhat enticed by to go over just because it's the
Phillies and they do strike out a little bit. But
I I Ranger, No, I just have a no kind
of gauge. Strikeouts have been a little bit low in
the last couple of games as well, really all months
they've been a little bit low. So I don't have
(01:25:40):
any good gauge for Ranger Suarez. But if you are
enticed by any maybe an over on our Marcus Stroman strikeout,
as Kurrn just said, some good numbers against the Phillies.
Guys in the lineup Phillies, you strike out a good bit,
so that could be a good number.
Speaker 4 (01:25:55):
Any other games of interest for you today at bet
Park's baseball game.
Speaker 3 (01:26:00):
We've got a ton of them.
Speaker 5 (01:26:01):
Yeah, got a few. I do like the Saint Louis
Cardinals are going to be at home against San Diego.
Saint Louis on a three game home winning streak. They
are very good in Saint Louis. They're fighting, both teams
fighting for a wildcard. Spots are really big game for
the National League wildcard. But I think the Cardinals at
home pretty good spot. Pitching matchup. Blueber Tour against Vasquez
(01:26:22):
really an even pitching matchup I'm just really taking the
home field advantage there also going to be taking Game one.
Speaker 3 (01:26:29):
Throwing up again, hold on for one second.
Speaker 2 (01:26:31):
Saint Louis minus one fifty seven San Diego plus one
thirty three at bet Parks.
Speaker 5 (01:26:38):
Yeah, a little bit of juice, but certainly certainly the
noptember for a good home team. I'm gonna take Cleveland.
I'm seeing them around minus one of five on the
money line. Uh, they're in Game one for Cleveland. By
the way, they have Gavin Williams on the Mounta. I
do like Gavin Williams quite a bit. Cleveland's been a
little bit better as of late. They did lose their
last game on the final game against the baltim Orioles
(01:27:00):
in that series, but overall this one's been really good.
And so they're kind of an odd team where they
are this in between of they have been talked about
as sellers, but they are getting closer to being in
the Wildcard and maybe being not. I say buyers, but
I don't think they're going to sell as much as
a lot of people think. So I would say that
(01:27:20):
that really Cleveland could be a team that could make
their way into the Wildcard in a really messy Al
Wildcard Race.
Speaker 4 (01:27:26):
And the last one Kmarck hang last night they got
rained out in Kansas City. They are actually the dogs
in this game today they're plus one fourteen. Kansas City
at home is minus one thirty four if I'm reading
this correct at bet Parks.
Speaker 5 (01:27:40):
And I think I am, so yeah, yeah, that could
be yep. So the last game I'm going to take.
So Kumar Rocker for the Texas Rangers. If you see
the ERA five point sixty six, not very good, but
in the beginning of June, one game into June, after
the Tampa Bay Race game, he had an ERA of
over eight. So he has done a really good job
(01:28:02):
of stay stabilizing himself in the big leagues. He's done
pretty well and allows a few games the last four
or five games. So I think Kamar Rocker here at
home against a really bad, brave team. They just keep skidding,
and I just I'm shocked by it, and I don't
know if it's ever really going to end. This is
a team that I thought when Accoona got back, maybe
(01:28:23):
they got a little bit healthy to make a run,
but they have gone so far down that they're really
into obscurity now. And so it's a lost season for them.
So I like Texas here again at home, Rockers pitching well,
So I'll take the Rangers on a short Buddy Lunk.
Speaker 4 (01:28:37):
Minus one twenty one at home for Texas Atlanta.
Speaker 3 (01:28:40):
Plus one oh four.
Speaker 4 (01:28:42):
John, a couple of topics that came up in the
first ninety minutes of the show while you were at.
Speaker 3 (01:28:49):
Eating in South Carolina or what beaches of west Chester?
Speaker 4 (01:28:52):
Yeah, South Carolina, sunning yourself in Westchester, South Carolina.
Speaker 3 (01:28:59):
How about this bet?
Speaker 2 (01:29:00):
If you like the Eagles to win the Super Bowl
again six and a half to one at bet Parks,
But if you think they're going to beat the Bills,
you get twenty eight to one. You also get the
Ravens at twenty eight, the Chiefs at twenty eight. In
other words, the exact result, right, Eagles over one of
those teams, twenty eight to one.
Speaker 3 (01:29:20):
That's kind of entice.
Speaker 5 (01:29:22):
Yes, yeah, anything's enticing to me. Outside of Kansas City,
they've done better. I think they are a better team
this year than they weren't last year. Last year was
not a good team really at all. I hate to
say not a good team, but they certainly were not
very good and really just carried by a coaching, a
team that has a great quarterback and has one before,
(01:29:42):
so they were able to get the good places, but
I don't find them very good. I'm looking at Baltimore
or Buffalo. Finally, at some point, I think they're going
to get over the hump. I don't find very many
teams in the AFC that can compete with Kansas City
except for those two, and eventually those two, those two
are better. I just think eventually they.
Speaker 3 (01:30:00):
Are going to win.
Speaker 5 (01:30:00):
They are going to be Kansas City. They're going to
get to a super Bowl. So I I would yeah,
and exactly, maybe Baltimore or Buffalo. Obviously Buffalo would be
the one people are more into, just because Buffalo has
beitten closer. They played well in the playoffs, come up
short against Skanta City. Yeah, but I think Baltimore is
the team that I think eventually Lamar can put it
(01:30:22):
together in the playoffs. Look, it only takes one, it
only takes one good playoff. We still I still talk
about Joe Flacco's playoffs and there's one playoff run forever,
and Joe Fucko really wasn't that good outside of it.
So I think that Lamar has this one run in him.
It's just when when it happens, or if it ever does.
But I'm looking more at Baltimore or Buffalo. Maybe a
(01:30:42):
take on the Eagles. If you aren't going to think hegals.
Speaker 3 (01:30:44):
Twenty eight to one, you can take all three. Well,
that's right, you get a better price than you get
straight up.
Speaker 4 (01:30:49):
I think the problem with Lamar is it's between his
ears and he's at some point for him to get
where you're saying he's got.
Speaker 3 (01:30:58):
It's not a physical thing with him. I mean, I
don't think so.
Speaker 4 (01:31:01):
And I think there's so much pressure on him when
they get to the playoffs because everybody's talking about it.
Speaker 3 (01:31:06):
Again, coach helps them out either maybe not.
Speaker 4 (01:31:10):
I mean all I'm saying is I think Buffalo and
Kansas City are more at that point, are more prepared
to go to the super Bowl in Baltimore's And I
like the coach.
Speaker 3 (01:31:21):
I like the coach, and I like Lamar.
Speaker 6 (01:31:23):
And also you think about the Bills. Everybody talks about
how easy their schedule is this year. Is that lines
them up for home field advantage if they take advantage
of the schedule, so which is huge because obviously you
don't want to go to Kansas City.
Speaker 4 (01:31:34):
Yeah, I mean that game they lost to Kansas City
two years ago, it was there's no excuse.
Speaker 5 (01:31:40):
And that was on Lamar, was put on Lamar and
the mind getting you know, in between Lamar's head, and
absolutely I think Lamar does have some problems with that.
John Harball outside of that, again, that one playoff run
with Joe Flaco really hasn't coached that well in the
playoffs either. I think it's just a Baltimore thing at
this point. They all to get over it.
Speaker 4 (01:32:02):
Three times and like the second half they ran and
then the more so in the interception in the end.
Speaker 3 (01:32:07):
Zone they fell behind and they and they picked.
Speaker 5 (01:32:10):
Yes the things. That's why I just feel like things
get weird. They their game plans get a little bit messy,
they get in their heads, they start doing weird things.
I just I feel like it's been a common theme
for them.
Speaker 3 (01:32:22):
Somebody's going to Kansas City.
Speaker 4 (01:32:24):
Can't go to Super Bowl every year, but they maybe
make the AFC Championship shams. But again, last year was
the year you had to get them, and they went
fifteen and one.
Speaker 5 (01:32:34):
I mean, they were exactly It's stunning what they did.
I still it's hard to believe when you look back
at that roster and the production they were getting from
certain players, especially Travis Chelsea taking a really big dip
down in production. They just weren't They weren't that good.
That was the worst team I think Patrick Mahomes has
ever been on, and that was the team to get.
And still patck Mahomes played out of his mind in
(01:32:56):
the postseason and even in the AFC Championship game, played
a nearly four all this game.
Speaker 3 (01:33:00):
Uh so it's they're five hundred homes.
Speaker 5 (01:33:04):
Yeah, they're beatable. They are absolutely beatable.
Speaker 3 (01:33:07):
I think they're going to be better this year though,
I really do.
Speaker 5 (01:33:10):
Oh yeah, they will.
Speaker 3 (01:33:11):
I think they went out in the strength in the team.
Speaker 4 (01:33:12):
I mean, if Buffalo gets the number one seed, which
it looks like on paper, they could because the Chiefs
Division is going to be harder. You would figure with
what you could have Kansas City and Baltimore playing in
a semi final, which could be interesting.
Speaker 3 (01:33:27):
I don't know where it would be Denver.
Speaker 5 (01:33:29):
The Chargers and Raiders are all going to be better,
not not meaning they're all going to be great, They're
all going to be better, and it's it's a really
tough division. So maybe that is a way for bufflic
at the one team and maybe make that playoff run.
Speaker 4 (01:33:41):
But Baltimore is the best team in their division. Baltimore
should win their division.
Speaker 3 (01:33:46):
I think. I think they're.
Speaker 4 (01:33:49):
Avon Rodgers, I think, and Cincinnati can be okay, maybe
make the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (01:33:56):
But Baltimore is the best team. What about the next division?
Speaker 6 (01:33:59):
The quarterback room of the Cleveland Browns, I'm roving yeah, any.
Speaker 4 (01:34:08):
Baltymore is the class of that division, just like Buffalo
is the class at the East.
Speaker 2 (01:34:12):
All right back to Westchester, South Carolina. Uh, John, you
were trying to say something, but somebody interrupted you. I
don't know who that could have been.
Speaker 5 (01:34:21):
No, I'm uh no, I am good. The AOD is
definitely what I think. It's Baltimore Buffalo.
Speaker 3 (01:34:28):
I really did on to college football.
Speaker 4 (01:34:30):
Uh, Friday August first, And by the way, this coming
Friday August first, the legend that is Smarty Jones will
be adapted into the horse Racing Hall of Fame in
Saratogas Franks I will be there.
Speaker 3 (01:34:44):
For it isn't Dick Allen going into the Hall of Fame.
Today's tomorrow? Correct?
Speaker 4 (01:34:49):
Good for also a huge deal up in Cooperstown, which
is not far from Saratogin, So I will be up
there next Friday, and then I will be driving home.
Speaker 3 (01:34:57):
So I can be here for sports here there, of course,
and everywhere the next day.
Speaker 2 (01:35:01):
College football john Ohio State at Bett Parks is the
betting favorite to win it all at five to one
Penn State six, Texas six and a half.
Speaker 3 (01:35:10):
Any thoughts as we get nearer Week zero late in
the month of box.
Speaker 5 (01:35:17):
Yeah, I've been reading up a little bit on the
SEC and I am I'm enticed by Georgia kind of
all over again. I think we're a little bit just
just counting them out. It was of what's happened in
the past year, in the past couple of years. But
Ohio State has a new quarterback. I don't think anybody's
taking that into account. I don't think Ohio State. No,
(01:35:39):
it's probably gonna be Julian sand It's going to be
their quarterback, but they don't even know that yet. They
haven't announced it, so I think they could lose week
one to Texas. Texas is another one I really like
they get. They have to replace a lot of great
production and wide receiver, but they have recruited extremely well.
Steve Sarkisan has done an excellent job, so I think
they're gonna be able to replace them guys with other
(01:36:01):
draft picks and their NFL type players. But also they
have the better quarterback now in arch Manning than Quinn Ewers.
And one thing about Texas that I don't think people
get as well, their defense is really the best part
of their team. It's not their offense. It's only defensively.
They are one of the best teams in college football.
But that's also why I like Georgia and also another
(01:36:22):
reason why I like another team in the SEC, and
that's actually Alabama. They can figure out their offensive woes.
They're a little bit of a throwback team this year
to like an earlier Nick Staven team where they probably
should run the ball more. They have a great group
of running backs, they have a great experienced offensive line,
so they should be able to run the ball extremely well.
(01:36:42):
And they're going to have a traditional draft back passer,
most likely in Simpson. This is a throwback, and they
have an excellent defense. They might if a couple of
things fall in place, especially at edge rusher, they could
be maybe the best defense in college football. So I
think they're Alabama could be back to I can say
what they it's going to be. You know, Kaitlin de
bor is in his second year there. He did win
(01:37:03):
in his second year with Washington, So two years seems
to be Kaylen de Borre, He's able to get it
right in two years. But I just think everything is
is kind of back to what Alabama was before a
little bit easier than what it has been for the
past couple of years. Even in the last like year
or so of Nick States.
Speaker 3 (01:37:20):
Looking for a job, John, the one team that you
did not mention was Penn State. What do we think
about the local?
Speaker 7 (01:37:28):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (01:37:29):
They have a two game season.
Speaker 2 (01:37:31):
Twenty two, Penn State number two at bet Parks at
six to one to win it all.
Speaker 5 (01:37:36):
Yeah, I just I love the roster. I love the team.
I actually think like James Franklin has got a really
good coaching staff in place. They have a good offense,
creative offense now, but they just they can't get over
that hump. And I this is James Franklin's best team,
but I think he has had good enough teams to
compete and even be a team like Notre Dame last
(01:37:57):
season in the semi final and they couldn't. I just
if they can't get over this hump, I just don't
know when when they will, I just don't.
Speaker 3 (01:38:06):
I don't.
Speaker 5 (01:38:06):
I don't know if James Franklin's ever able to Some
teams shifts are that way. Some teams stay there. You know,
Davos Sun he was there for a long, long, long
time and he's back there now.
Speaker 4 (01:38:15):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (01:38:15):
He won a couple of national championships. But it comes
into the team I really like this year, so they
could maybe this is a Davos better shot of competing,
But they just Clemsons the Penn States. They just can't
seem to get over that hump sometimes and they fall
a little bit below a Georgia Ohio State, who is
always going to be competing almost annually for a college
(01:38:37):
football championships.
Speaker 3 (01:38:38):
Well, I just I don't know if they're.
Speaker 5 (01:38:40):
Gonna be able to do it.
Speaker 3 (01:38:41):
He's like three and twenty against the top ten opponents
or something. Yeah. Yeah, I mean they go to Ohio
State this year.
Speaker 4 (01:38:49):
They could be unbeaten when they go there, and they're
going to have problems go to Rosters Ohio State.
Speaker 3 (01:38:55):
It's not better.
Speaker 4 (01:38:55):
I mean, this is a really really really good team.
So and I think he's going to make the playoffs regardless.
You know, if they lose the two games to Oregon
and Ohio State. I don't think they will lose both
of them. But yeah, I agree with you, John. I mean,
and look, not every coach has got to win it,
you know, not everybody's going to win a national championship,
a national championship. He's really right, Yeah, but I mean,
(01:39:18):
so they went out in the offseason and hired Ohio
States defensive coordinator step which is kind of interesting, and
paid him a boatload of them on it, because that's
that's the going rate these days. They have the most
expensive backfield in college football by far, with the quarterback.
Of the two running backs, I don't know what exact
number that they got, but I suspect combined they're probably
(01:39:40):
making in the seven eight million dollar range among the
three of them. I would think they have a veteran
offensive line, a lot of the you know, they lost
Carter and some of the good defensive players, but they
still have a very good defense.
Speaker 3 (01:39:51):
So yeah, yeah, there's no reason to think they're not
going to be in it. And the schedule's conducive, right,
but it is.
Speaker 4 (01:39:58):
They're almost like the raven in the playoffs, right, It's
like they have this really good team, but they just
can't get there because they just keep losing these games. Well,
they couldn't make the playoffs because they couldn't bet Ohio
State now that the playoffs have been expanded to be
in Yeah, and the Notre Dame game, I didn't think
they were a lot better than Notre Dame, but I
thought they were better.
Speaker 3 (01:40:19):
I agree, I thought, yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:40:20):
And the problem is the quarterback just and he made
some decent but just mistakes. That's the biggest problem. Is
that like the talent, and it seems like the NFL
really likes him, but that guy continually makes mistakes that
are really bad and game changing over and over again. Heed.
Speaker 2 (01:40:37):
Yeah, he certainly got much better last year than he
was the year before. Guy's gonna have to take another
big jump, and it's all on him because he's gonna.
Speaker 3 (01:40:44):
Make it if he makes a big jumps.
Speaker 4 (01:40:46):
Are they Are they going to do what the Eagles
did and just say we got these two great running
backs and we got an easy schedule.
Speaker 2 (01:40:52):
Makes sense, I mean, but they and they went out
and apparently they're one of the big problems was their
wideouts were not good last year.
Speaker 3 (01:40:58):
They went out and got and.
Speaker 2 (01:40:59):
Bought some white out some guys that have that have
numbers from I think there's a player from Syracuse that
had huge numbers there.
Speaker 5 (01:41:06):
So yeah, I mean yeah, really their only past catcher
was Tyler Warren last year and that's that's really about it.
Speaker 4 (01:41:11):
It was great, Uh, but yeah, it's uh. I think
there's more heat is on. There's a lot of coaches
that have pressure on them. Yeah, I mean, like you
know you mentioned, I mean, Diabo's got two national touches,
never wins another one.
Speaker 3 (01:41:23):
But but you know, o Higo State's got.
Speaker 4 (01:41:25):
The defending champs, so they don't necessarily mission, right, But
there's teams up there, but most of the teams up
there have won, Sarkas have won, but but these I
think it stored you to there's no team in college
football that has more pressure on it than the Nitney
Lions because anything short of like getting to the semi finals.
Speaker 3 (01:41:44):
Is going to be viewed as it's not a good season.
Speaker 4 (01:41:46):
When you spend that kind of money and you get
guys who could have gone to the NFL and been
fairly high draft choices and said, you know what, and
that's the new world we live in.
Speaker 3 (01:41:55):
Well, hell we come back. Guy forbid.
Speaker 4 (01:41:57):
If you get to the semis again and you lose,
it can to a team. Maybe you shouldn't lose too. Yeah. No,
Notre Dame wasn't great last year. I mean they were good,
they were not. I thought player the player in watching
that game, I thought Pat State was the better team.
Speaker 6 (01:42:12):
John's point, I mean, that's the hump we talk about
is even if it's an inferior team, it's still a
big school in a big moment, and they just not
think the three.
Speaker 3 (01:42:22):
Games that they had to win last year they lost,
the season will not be over.
Speaker 4 (01:42:26):
If Oregon comes here and beats that, this season's not over.
You thought, but my god, they better not lose that game.
But they warm up with Villanova, so they get vill
f I U god or might You.
Speaker 3 (01:42:42):
Don't think no? But you don't think no?
Speaker 4 (01:42:44):
What can be?
Speaker 3 (01:42:45):
You don't think that's it? You don't think that's Let
me ask this, that's one of the committees you asked
about the five thousand.
Speaker 5 (01:42:52):
You can listen to that game on Fox Sports ready
at Philadelphia.
Speaker 4 (01:42:55):
You don't, which has less of a chance happened Villanova
beating Penn State and Penn State or Temple.
Speaker 3 (01:43:02):
Winning the national title. Less of a chance. But I
