big problem. He's a ground ball contact pitcher, so that

When he gets in trouble, whenever rangerswars is not his best,
it's usually because he's trying to be too perfect around
the corners and he's walking guys. As a ground ball pitcher,

contact pitcher, you do not want to give up extra
base runners, and he's giving up a lot of that.
So that's the only concern. But it's a small sample
size until you the last two games, so I think
he can fix that a little bit at least in
this one, at least enough to be able to out

in the beginning of June, one game into June, after
the Tampa Bay Race game, he had an ERA of
over eight. So he has done a really good job

home against a really bad, brave team. They just keep skidding,

but they have gone so far down that they're really
into obscurity now. And so it's a lost season for them.

they've done better. I think they are a better team
this year than they weren't last year. Last year was

very good and really just carried by a coaching, a
team that has a great quarterback and has one before,

so they were able to get the good places, but
I don't find them very good. I'm looking at Baltimore
or Buffalo. Finally, at some point, I think they're going
to get over the hump. I don't find very many
teams in the AFC that can compete with Kansas City
except for those two, and eventually those two, those two
are better. I just think eventually they.

They are going to be Kansas City. They're going to
get to a super Bowl. So I I would yeah,
and exactly, maybe Baltimore or Buffalo. Obviously Buffalo would be

beitten closer. They played well in the playoffs, come up
short against Skanta City. Yeah, but I think Baltimore is
the team that I think eventually Lamar can put it

together in the playoffs. Look, it only takes one, it
only takes one good playoff. We still I still talk
about Joe Flacco's playoffs and there's one playoff run forever,
and Joe Fucko really wasn't that good outside of it.
So I think that Lamar has this one run in him.

But I'm looking more at Baltimore or Buffalo. Maybe a

And also you think about the Bills. Everybody talks about
how easy their schedule is this year. Is that lines
them up for home field advantage if they take advantage
of the schedule, so which is huge because obviously you
don't want to go to Kansas City.

Yeah, I mean that game they lost to Kansas City
two years ago, it was there's no excuse.

Speaker 5 (01:31:40):
And that was on Lamar, was put on Lamar and
the mind getting you know, in between Lamar's head, and
absolutely I think Lamar does have some problems with that.
John Harball outside of that, again, that one playoff run
with Joe Flaco really hasn't coached that well in the
playoffs either. I think it's just a Baltimore thing at
this point. They all to get over it.

Three times and like the second half they ran and
then the more so in the interception in the end.

Zone they fell behind and they and they picked.

Yes the things. That's why I just feel like things
get weird. They their game plans get a little bit messy,
they get in their heads, they start doing weird things.
I just I feel like it's been a common theme
for them.

Can't go to Super Bowl every year, but they maybe
make the AFC Championship shams. But again, last year was
the year you had to get them, and they went

I still it's hard to believe when you look back
at that roster and the production they were getting from
certain players, especially Travis Chelsea taking a really big dip
down in production. They just weren't They weren't that good.
That was the worst team I think Patrick Mahomes has
ever been on, and that was the team to get.
And still patck Mahomes played out of his mind in

the postseason and even in the AFC Championship game, played
a nearly four all this game.

The Chargers and Raiders are all going to be better,
not not meaning they're all going to be great, They're
all going to be better, and it's it's a really
tough division. So maybe that is a way for bufflic
at the one team and maybe make that playoff run.

But Baltimore is the best team in their division. Baltimore
should win their division.

Avon Rodgers, I think, and Cincinnati can be okay, maybe
make the playoffs.

Yeah, I've been reading up a little bit on the
SEC and I am I'm enticed by Georgia kind of
all over again. I think we're a little bit just
just counting them out. It was of what's happened in
the past year, in the past couple of years. But
Ohio State has a new quarterback. I don't think anybody's
taking that into account. I don't think Ohio State. No,

(01:35:39):
it's probably gonna be Julian sand It's going to be
their quarterback, but they don't even know that yet. They
haven't announced it, so I think they could lose week
one to Texas. Texas is another one I really like
they get. They have to replace a lot of great
production and wide receiver, but they have recruited extremely well.
Steve Sarkisan has done an excellent job, so I think
they're gonna be able to replace them guys with other

(01:36:01):
draft picks and their NFL type players. But also they
have the better quarterback now in arch Manning than Quinn Ewers.
And one thing about Texas that I don't think people
get as well, their defense is really the best part
of their team. It's not their offense. It's only defensively.
They are one of the best teams in college football.
But that's also why I like Georgia and also another

(01:36:22):
reason why I like another team in the SEC, and
that's actually Alabama. They can figure out their offensive woes.
They're a little bit of a throwback team this year
to like an earlier Nick Staven team where they probably
should run the ball more. They have a great group
of running backs, they have a great experienced offensive line,
so they should be able to run the ball extremely well.

(01:36:42):
And they're going to have a traditional draft back passer,
most likely in Simpson. This is a throwback, and they
have an excellent defense. They might if a couple of
things fall in place, especially at edge rusher, they could
be maybe the best defense in college football. So I
think they're Alabama could be back to I can say
what they it's going to be. You know, Kaitlin de
bor is in his second year there. He did win

(01:37:03):
in his second year with Washington, So two years seems
to be Kaylen de Borre, He's able to get it
right in two years. But I just think everything is
is kind of back to what Alabama was before a
little bit easier than what it has been for the
past couple of years. Even in the last like year
or so of Nick States.

Looking for a job, John, the one team that you
did not mention was Penn State. What do we think
about the local?

They have a two game season.

I actually think like James Franklin has got a really
good coaching staff in place. They have a good offense,
creative offense now, but they just they can't get over
that hump. And I this is James Franklin's best team,
but I think he has had good enough teams to
compete and even be a team like Notre Dame last

season in the semi final and they couldn't. I just
if they can't get over this hump, I just don't
know when when they will, I just don't.

I don't know if James Franklin's ever able to Some
teams shifts are that way. Some teams stay there. You know,
Davos Sun he was there for a long, long, long
time and he's back there now.

He won a couple of national championships. But it comes
into the team I really like this year, so they
could maybe this is a Davos better shot of competing,
But they just Clemsons the Penn States. They just can't
seem to get over that hump sometimes and they fall
a little bit below a Georgia Ohio State, who is
always going to be competing almost annually for a college

football championships.

Well, I just I don't know if they're.

He's like three and twenty against the top ten opponents

State this year.

They could be unbeaten when they go there, and they're
going to have problems go to Rosters Ohio State.

It's not better.

I mean, this is a really really really good team.
So and I think he's going to make the playoffs regardless.
You know, if they lose the two games to Oregon
and Ohio State. I don't think they will lose both
of them. But yeah, I agree with you, John. I mean,
and look, not every coach has got to win it,
you know, not everybody's going to win a national championship,
a national championship. He's really right, Yeah, but I mean,

so they went out in the offseason and hired Ohio
States defensive coordinator step which is kind of interesting, and
paid him a boatload of them on it, because that's
that's the going rate these days. They have the most
expensive backfield in college football by far, with the quarterback.
Of the two running backs, I don't know what exact
number that they got, but I suspect combined they're probably

(01:39:40):
making in the seven eight million dollar range among the
three of them. I would think they have a veteran
offensive line, a lot of the you know, they lost
Carter and some of the good defensive players, but they
still have a very good defense.

Speaker 3 (01:39:51):
So yeah, yeah, there's no reason to think they're not
going to be in it. And the schedule's conducive, right,
but it is.

Speaker 4 (01:39:58):
They're almost like the raven in the playoffs, right, It's
like they have this really good team, but they just
can't get there because they just keep losing these games. Well,
they couldn't make the playoffs because they couldn't bet Ohio
State now that the playoffs have been expanded to be
in Yeah, and the Notre Dame game, I didn't think
they were a lot better than Notre Dame, but I
thought they were better.

I agree, I thought, yeah.

And the problem is the quarterback just and he made
some decent but just mistakes. That's the biggest problem. Is
that like the talent, and it seems like the NFL
really likes him, but that guy continually makes mistakes that
are really bad and game changing over and over again. Heed.

Yeah, he certainly got much better last year than he
was the year before. Guy's gonna have to take another
big jump, and it's all on him because he's gonna.

Make it if he makes a big jumps.

Are they Are they going to do what the Eagles
did and just say we got these two great running
backs and we got an easy schedule.

Makes sense, I mean, but they and they went out
and apparently they're one of the big problems was their
wideouts were not good last year.

They went out and got and.

Bought some white out some guys that have that have
numbers from I think there's a player from Syracuse that
had huge numbers there.

So yeah, I mean yeah, really their only past catcher
was Tyler Warren last year and that's that's really about it.

It was great, Uh, but yeah, it's uh. I think
there's more heat is on. There's a lot of coaches
that have pressure on them. Yeah, I mean, like you
know you mentioned, I mean, Diabo's got two national touches,
never wins another one.

But but you know, o Higo State's got.

Speaker 4 (01:41:25):
The defending champs, so they don't necessarily mission, right, But
there's teams up there, but most of the teams up
there have won, Sarkas have won, but but these I
think it stored you to there's no team in college
football that has more pressure on it than the Nitney
Lions because anything short of like getting to the semi finals.

Speaker 3 (01:41:44):
Is going to be viewed as it's not a good season.

Speaker 4 (01:41:46):
When you spend that kind of money and you get
guys who could have gone to the NFL and been
fairly high draft choices and said, you know what, and
that's the new world we live in.

If you get to the semis again and you lose,
it can to a team. Maybe you shouldn't lose too. Yeah. No,
Notre Dame wasn't great last year. I mean they were good,
they were not. I thought player the player in watching
that game, I thought Pat State was the better team.

John's point, I mean, that's the hump we talk about
is even if it's an inferior team, it's still a
big school in a big moment, and they just not
think the three.
