Speaker 3 (00:39):
It was the drama to Lie.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
Saday you I'm thinking was the Drap Yes danced a man.
Speaker 4 (00:56):
Seven guys turned up.
Speaker 2 (00:59):
Music singing thank you very much, all right, I appreciate it.
Speaker 5 (01:07):
I think back a quarter century when Governor Rendell, state
Senator Tommy Tomlinson, and others were desperately trying to help
the horse racing industry in the state because Delaware and
West Virginia already had slot machines, and horse racing was
getting really squeezed here in the state, and they wanted
(01:29):
to get slots and any kind of gaming into the state,
and they just couldn't do it. They desperately tried year
after year after year, and for some reason they just
never could get it past the legislature. And then in
the winter and spring of two thousand and four, this
(01:50):
horse appears from what was then called Philadelphia Park now
Parks across the parking lot from where we sit today
and changed everything thing. Governor Rendell has told me that
without Smarty Jones the Slots Bill, which was signed in
the Winter Circle at Parks on July fourth of two
(02:11):
thousand and four. Never we're going to get casino gaming,
any kind of gaming in the state. The horse was
the impetus finally for the legislature to get it. And
here we sit in this palace today outside of the
sportsbook at Parks, the one of the great casinos.
Speaker 3 (02:29):
In America, and might not be here without that horse.
Speaker 5 (02:33):
And yesterday in Saratoga Springs, New York, about two hundred
and thirty miles north of here, Smarty Jones was honored
as the newest modern day inductee into the Horse Racing
Hall of Fame. It was some ceremony at the Phasik
Tipton Sales Pavilion, which is right down the street from
(02:55):
the Hall of Fame, which is on Union Avenue, across
from Saratoga Racecourse, the most start.
Speaker 3 (03:00):
Sporting venue in the country.
Speaker 5 (03:01):
It only opened in eighteen sixty three during the Civil War.
Smarty Jones was honored his owner Pat Chapman spoke, trainer
John Servis spoke, and jockey Stewart Elliott's booke very emotional
for anybody who covered it like I did. It was
a one of the wildest stories I've ever covered. But again,
(03:23):
we are sitting in a place today that may not
exist without this race source. So it's always nice to
go back and understand the context of where we got
to where we got But that's the story, Mike.
Speaker 3 (03:36):
You remember two thousand and four.
Speaker 5 (03:38):
That was the year of a Saint Joe's basketball and
then Smarty Jones. For me, it was the wildest year
I ever had covering sports at the Daily News, and
they morphed into one another. They had two other things
in common, and this should be great stories and long journeys.
Speaker 3 (03:53):
They both had.
Speaker 5 (03:54):
Horrible endings, but that's just the nature of sports. That's
just the way it happens. Endings aren't scripted. But go
back to that that spring of two thousand and four,
what do you what are your memories of Smarty Johnts
where everybody in the Delaware Valley got into a horse
racing following that hornle.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
Well, first of all, I remember the Saint Joe game.
Speaker 6 (04:13):
I was in Arizona covering the regional out there with
Connecticut and Alabama.
Speaker 3 (04:19):
I think we're in the final.
Speaker 6 (04:20):
Eight, and of course Connecticut ended up witting the whole
thing with okafo.
Speaker 5 (04:24):
Uh.
Speaker 6 (04:25):
And I'm watching the game where I was in a
bar or a restaurant or something. I'm watching it, and hey, Saint.
Speaker 3 (04:30):
Joe could win. Saint Joe could win. Saint Joe. Oh,
it's a loose ball.
Speaker 6 (04:34):
And I'm just and I don't remember if the bar
was rooting for Saint Joe's or rooting for Oak State.
Speaker 3 (04:41):
It was it Oki nor Okay State. But anyway, the thing.
Speaker 6 (04:45):
That the two things I remember about Smarty was I
was on the air with Gary Cobb w IP Saturday afternoon.
Speaker 3 (04:53):
Our shift was ending at seven.
Speaker 6 (04:55):
First Saturday in June. Race ended about six thirty six five.
We're watching the race. I can't see any other horses, right,
they're they're Smarty. And I'm looking at Gary and Gary
looks I think he and all of a sudden, who
was it was? Comes up and and and Gary and
(05:15):
I were just like we didn't know. I'm like yeah,
and the phones lit up, right, I mean, and I
don't know who came on after us. But anyway, but
then the amazing thing to me about Smarty, and I'm
sure there's some people that resented that horse going into
Hall of fame because they resented him back then to
some degree.
Speaker 5 (05:33):
There's there's a little bit of pensani York, Kentucky, and
there was a little bit of resentment about Saint Joe's right,
because you know they they were Saint Jose.
Speaker 3 (05:42):
They can't be any good, no, why are they good?
Speaker 6 (05:45):
And but the thing that I remember about Smarty was
what happened after that.
Speaker 3 (05:50):
The two horses that came after Smarty.
Speaker 6 (05:52):
Barbara and do I have them in the right order
as first right? And that to me, that three years thing,
oh yeah, was just And now you obviously we noticed
better if Smarty had won and we hadn't had a
triple crown winner. And at that point, I guess it
was like twenty five years, nineteen seventy eight, Okay.
Speaker 3 (06:12):
What would we remember? Would people remember Smarty differently?
Speaker 5 (06:16):
You know, I don't think so. And here's why I think.
And you look, there's been two triple crown winners since
obviously we had one in twenty fifteen and then twenty eighteen.
If you asked a man on the street named the
most recognizable popular horse of the twenty first century, nobody's
going to tell you. American Pharaohoor justified. Those are the
two that won the triple Crown. They're gonna tell you.
(06:36):
Smarty Jones, he was that resident beyond Pennsylvania, the people.
I mean, he's at a farm about two hours west
of here. Yeah, they're actually having a thing out there
after the show next week.
Speaker 3 (06:46):
I'm gonna go out there. He's now twenty four years old.
Speaker 5 (06:49):
It's still standing at Studies ready four twenty four years Yeah.
Speaker 3 (06:53):
Horses three year old.
Speaker 5 (06:55):
Yeah, you can live over at thirty. People are still
coming by this farm to this day. He was just
it was such a big name outside. It was on
the cover of Sports Illustration. It was on the cover
of When when that meant something correct that the Sports
Illustrated exactly, I don't know, but yeah, and I'm going
(07:16):
to be on the cover. And there were one hundred
and twenty thousand people at Belmont Park that day Mike,
which is the will be the largest crowd of the
history of the racetrack because they're rebuilding and it'll never
get that big again. And it was such a letdown
because not only did he lost the race, but how
he lost the race. There were two jockeys that targeted
him early in the race, that's why he ultimately was beaten.
Speaker 3 (07:34):
But yeah, I think this was a reward.
Speaker 5 (07:36):
The Hall of Fame was a reward because the voters,
and it took a long time to actually get the
voters because there's this committee that would never get let
them get on the ballot.
Speaker 3 (07:44):
I got on a committee this year and talk to
other people.
Speaker 5 (07:46):
Well, they do call it the Hall of Theme, correct, right,
And certainly was the most to me, he's the most
famous horse of the twenty first century.
Speaker 3 (07:53):
And I don't think it's particularly close.
Speaker 6 (07:55):
Joe Namath is in the Pro football and Joe Namath
is probably you know, as if you look at his numbers,
you say, why is he in there?
Speaker 3 (08:00):
Famous guy? And he went in the Super Bowl.
Speaker 5 (08:04):
So again it was it's extremely emotional for all the
people involve. Yesterday, John Service, especially the trainer, was brilliant
in what he said about in like two or three
minute speech, just great stuff. And it was in this
pavilion where they are going to start selling like million
dollar horses on Monday and Tuesday. And Smarty Jones was
(08:24):
not back.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
Didn't the jockey You have a great story, wasn't he?
And downs?
Speaker 5 (08:29):
No, Yeah, he had several years before h Smarty Jones.
He had he had an incident. He had an assault
incident up in New Jersey. Used to have a big
drinking problem. In fact, Pat Chapman and met her husband,
Roy Chapman at Livid Grin up not far from here,
which is a rehab.
Speaker 3 (08:46):
It's like five minutes from here.
Speaker 5 (08:48):
And she talked about it yesterday at the Hall of Fame, like, hey,
you there is recovereople who don't remember Roy Chatman. He
had a big car deal. She still was Chapman audible.
You know, they're all over the place, but the main
one is the boulevard. Yeah, Randy Chapman runs the show,
and Randy was there. Ye say, thing to me is.
Speaker 6 (09:05):
A Philadelphia reading your stories and remembering like I watched
horse racing like on the periphery. The great thing about
that was the three horses to me, uh, because you
had Smart almost winning the triple crown. Then you had
a fleet Alex and now which lives one.
Speaker 3 (09:21):
To stir in the derby and then crush the brickness.
Speaker 6 (09:23):
And now it's the lemonade stand and and then the
tragedy Barb Barbara, who knows how good it was that
horse would have been I mean all three of the
horses right from Philadelphia, which the people in Kentucky must
have just been using there they were not. You know,
It's like it's like if if Valparaiso is winning like
(09:44):
the national titles again and all of a sudden the
people from Kentucky and the Blue blazz are.
Speaker 3 (09:48):
Sitting there on huh not happy, But yeah, no it was.
It was a great day.
Speaker 5 (09:53):
And it was the forever ending that the horse did
not get on the racetrack. So it was very cool
for all those but the greatest you run on horse
racing that you had, Oh gods, not even close, right,
I mean it's not, no course, not even in the
bull Park clues. And it's funny. I don't think I
cast a bet on any of them. It was weird. Wow,
(10:15):
Smarty Jones. I tried to. I was trying to hit
at the superfact.
Speaker 3 (10:18):
I didn't. Barbara was six.
Speaker 5 (10:21):
To one, and I laid in a ton of money
on the SuperFect that a fleet Alex is the toughest
one of the one.
Speaker 3 (10:27):
I think it was six to one. Check this bet out, Kyle.
Speaker 5 (10:30):
So in the two thousand and five Derby, there's a
there's a horse owned by George Steinbrenner. Of all people named,
Bellamy wrote, who was the overwhelming favorite? And I knew
his previous trainer who got fired earlier that year, either
George or somebody thought he was taking too long to
bring the horse around to get him ready for the Derby.
(10:51):
And the trainer just happened to be Michael Dickinson, who
was the trainer of the Great Doss and he fired
him and Mike and he comes and he runs two
great races for Nick Zito before the Derby. He wins
by like one hundred lynths and it's gonna be this
giant favorite. And Michael tells me he ain't gonna make it. Dick,
isn't that quote inside re treating? If if I call
it all.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
Fairly, you're gonna get on the phone now. This is
to throw you in jail for.
Speaker 5 (11:20):
That catchy into limitations up twenty years old. So he
tells me, look, he ain't winning the derby. And and
not only is he not winning, he's not gonna be
anywhere because he's got physical problems and he's not gonna
have this situation he did in other races. So I
go down there the fleet Alex I go to Arkansas,
first time I ever been there, watching him win the
Arkansas Derby, and I go, this is it. I'm pounding
(11:42):
the Superfector, which is the first forward order. I'm putting
a fleet Alex on top. I'm throwing out the favorite.
Fella me rode right off the ticket. When you get
the favorite off the ticket, price zoos and I'm all weak.
I'm down there trying to figure out, all right, I
need to find a long shot to put second, third,
and four with the field. So basically, if there's twenty horses,
(12:05):
the bet is you can do that. You can do
the math eighteen times seventeen times three. It's about a
thousand dollars. When you get you need two horses, you
need a I need a fleet Ax to win in
the long shut this long shot to finish second.
Speaker 3 (12:18):
Then it doesn't matter. I don't care what happens. But
what I'm hoping happens is other long shots. Sure.
Speaker 5 (12:23):
Sure, I'm looking for chaos, which is how I read
the race, and I hate the favorite, so I'm thinking chaos.
Speaker 3 (12:30):
This is going to be awesome.
Speaker 5 (12:31):
So I make the bet and I finally come up
and I was actually on ESPN's pre Derby show that year,
and as we're going to break at one point after
I pick a fleet to Alex and tell them the
Bellamy Road is going to be nowhere I go. The
word to live by is Jakomo. Remember the Jacoba. I
remember that, as in remember the Alba.
Speaker 3 (12:50):
Yes, remember remember the Remember the Jacobo. So they're running
the race.
Speaker 5 (12:56):
It's the first year of the new press box at
Churchill Vents, and I'm got my binoculars and if fleet
Alex as the green silks of Chucks at and he's
cash his kid and Jacomo has the green silks of
Jerry Moss. Jerry Moss, famous record producer, legendary guy in
the horse racing business. So I'm just looking for the
two green silks and they're coming around the bar turn.
(13:18):
Bellamy Road is dead, he's out, he's already faded into oblivion.
And here comes the fleet Alex. He's rolling in event
eight lengths behind him. Here's coming Jacoba, and I'm thinking,
this is it, this is the score of a lifetime.
Fleet Alex takes the lead and here comes some morse.
I don't know who the hell he is running up
next to a Fleet Alex. And then here comes Jacomo. Yeah,
(13:40):
I need him second, third, or fourth, except and he's
fifty to one. Except he decides to win the race.
At fifty to one. The seventy to one closing argument
runs second, A fleet Alex runs third, twenty to one
runs fourth.
Speaker 3 (13:56):
It pays eight hundred and fifty thousand.
Speaker 7 (13:59):
Oh my for a doc.
Speaker 3 (14:00):
Is there any way eight fifty eight talking about chaos?
Speaker 6 (14:03):
Is there any way you could have bet that with
just a fleet Alex said, I'll take a fleet Alex.
Speaker 3 (14:08):
To and say I could have Is that too much money? Why?
Speaker 5 (14:12):
It started to get a little insane at that, right,
But yeah, could you just that? I'm sure easily sat
after the game's over. Mine would have paid about four
hundred thousand is the estimate of wins. It had been less. Yeah,
who wants on thousand? But it was the single greatest
bet I ever made. And people said, well, yeah, I
(14:32):
could have bet like I think it was.
Speaker 3 (14:34):
I think it was a thousand.
Speaker 5 (14:35):
I could have been a thousand to win on a
fleet Alex and I'd have gotten back like five thousand.
I wasn't trying to win five thousand. Yeah, I've won
five thousand before. Yeah, I was trying to win favorite
in the derbies. Marty Judges, you love this story. So
Marty Jones was the favorite in the derby for one reason.
That year, Oakland Park, where he prepared for the derby,
(14:55):
decided to put up a five million dollar bonus.
Speaker 3 (14:58):
I think it was the maybe the one hundredth year
history of Oaklawn Park and Arkansas or something.
Speaker 5 (15:03):
Anyway, the owner put up a bonus any horse that
could win the Rebel Stakes, the Arkansas Derby and the
Kentucky Derby five million dollar bonus. It's the only time
they ever put it up. Figure, no one, nobody's doing this.
Smarty Jones shows up, wins the Rebel, wins the Arkansas Derby.
Speaker 3 (15:16):
All of a sudden, the.
Speaker 5 (15:17):
Owner, who took out a little bit of an insurance policy,
is on the line for a.
Speaker 3 (15:22):
Couple of mil so he shows up and bets a
mill in.
Speaker 5 (15:26):
Cash on Smarty Jones to make him the favorite, to
make sure that he could cover at the five million
if he wins the race. So the Chapman's got a
five million dollars five million dollars check, which they presented
here across the street.
Speaker 3 (15:37):
Wow. After he won the derby. Crazy what but anyway,
Smarty Jones Hall of Fame.
Speaker 5 (15:44):
We're sitting in the sports book Wardely and Governor Rendell
has told me this.
Speaker 3 (15:49):
Many times without Smarty Jones.
Speaker 5 (15:53):
The Slotsville Acts seventy one, which is now morph obviously
did this great casino with table games and the rest.
Speaker 3 (16:00):
Yeah, it's the it's the casino. What was your original bill?
What did that allow them? The slot machines ownly slot
machines and over time, and the slot machines originally were
in the racetrack.
Speaker 5 (16:10):
I remember that while they were building this, and then
by the time they built this, and I'm pretty sure
I'm right about there.
Speaker 3 (16:17):
It's like a three hundred million dollars project.
Speaker 5 (16:19):
They paid cash because they'd already made enough money across.
Speaker 3 (16:23):
I think that's right. But whatever it's it sounds right.
Speaker 5 (16:26):
We're thrilled to be here in the sports outside the sportsbook,

Speaker 5 (16:51):
The only f I recommend must be twenty one and
in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio, or Michigan.
Speaker 3 (16:57):
Gambling problem one eight hundred gambler.
Speaker 5 (17:00):
Uh, well, have Mike Karnell on the Windham Classic final
thing if they ever they had lightning? Yes, show so
they might not be finished, all right? And I have
no clue, but I will try to give you something.
We'll figure something out. When the Windom Tigers, I like
his son, I like your son. Which is the final
event of the PGA Regular Tour. We go into a playoffs.
Speaker 3 (17:20):
My guy's now playing, he's got My guy just had
back surgery. And I can't make this up. And I
have I have a rant on the oh I love
baseball trading dead. I have a rant. I've had a yes.
I've just added yes. The whole thing was just sickening,
But you know what could be worse.
Speaker 5 (17:37):
Let me finish my rant first, and then then then
you get into this. I'm not going berserve. I just
what Look, everybody knows I had to bet on the Orioles.
They started playing great. They're playing greaty guys five in
a row. They just missed a sweeping Toronto, they lost
by a run, and then the next day they trade
the whole team. Basically, they go, they go, we're out,
(17:59):
and the Twins, yeah, I don't care about the you
don't care. I don't care to care less about that.
Speaker 3 (18:04):
But runs this week? Can you can? You hang on?
Let me rant and then I'll let you rent.
Speaker 5 (18:11):
So the Orioles decide, and no, they're not the only
team we're gonna trade player x y z q r Y.
For all these minor leaguers who nobody's ever gonna hear
of again. Ever, none of these guys ever make it.
Somebody needs to do a study. I'm not doing it
because I don't care. After today, I've had it enough.
(18:32):
Somebody needs to do a study on these trade deadline
deals that all these losers do year after year, where
they get rid of the only guys on their team
that can help them win. Possibly, for all these minor
leaguers who disappeared into the ether. The Orioles did it,
the Twins did it, I mean everybody did it.
Speaker 3 (18:51):
It's signing. It should be banned.
Speaker 5 (18:54):
The commissioner Baseball should be fired. All all of baseball
should be banned. I've had enough.
Speaker 3 (19:00):
I can't stand it anymore.
Speaker 5 (19:02):
Mike, OK, I have a question. Well, first of all,
Kenry Perkins could be doing it could be worse. He
could be doing the baseball And.
Speaker 3 (19:08):
Then you have to listen to Kenryier.
Speaker 6 (19:10):
Where did the good group of these young players Uriels
got was that homegrown talent like they had some o
they still do?
Speaker 3 (19:18):
I mean they did they trade for some of those guys.
I don't know. They all came up to they drafted them, right, No, no, no,
that's what I mean. But they still have Jackson. Oh
they still have the short shot.
Speaker 6 (19:29):
But they didn't trade for some guy four years ago
who was now a good Okay, that's all.
Speaker 5 (19:33):
Yeah, No, you are not wrong. It's Sydney. It's they
they had, They still have had a good key. They
were still a factor. I mean they were not at
all out of it. They had just had a five
game winning streak, and they just said we give up
a terrible in a terrible American league, and not to
(19:54):
mention five hundred might get you in the playoff.
Speaker 3 (19:56):
Yeah, not to mention. I mean, look what they did
with this team for the last two years exactly. They won.
Speaker 5 (20:01):
They won more games than any kids in a baseball
twins were five games ridiculous out of the final wildcard.
Speaker 6 (20:07):
Now, I'm not saying you're going, but there's two months left, right,
what do you do? They traded ten of their twenty
five players. They tell the Phillies, we ain't getting rid
of this guy unless you give his Painter, and the
Phillies like now, and then they give them and take Abele.
Speaker 3 (20:21):
Now, I don't know what nick Abel's going to be.
I who knows, Nobody knows. Nobody knows. Maybe he's gonna
be better than Painter, maybe he's not.
Speaker 6 (20:29):
Anyway, my mini ran is about these Savannah bananas or whatever?
Speaker 1 (20:35):
Is that?
Speaker 3 (20:35):
Do I have that right?
Speaker 5 (20:38):
I am?
Speaker 6 (20:38):
Look, my son went last Saturday. I guess took his
two kids. They had a player. You know, it's entertainment.
I get it's the Glovetrotters.
Speaker 3 (20:49):
Why are they on the TV like twenty four? Why
are people?
Speaker 6 (20:54):
So I go over my my wife's friend's house and
they're they're they're not baseball fans per se, and they're
stuff in there and they're like, oh, this is great,
this is this is baseball?
Speaker 3 (21:03):
I said, it's not baseball.
Speaker 5 (21:05):
I said no, but they but they're like and they
they don't get They're just enjoying it because it's entertainment.
Speaker 3 (21:10):
And I understand that part of it.
Speaker 5 (21:12):
But okay, put it on once like the Globetrotters used
to be on like once a year. They put them
on ABC WI World Sports. You'd watch it, Okay, I'm
just I can't. Do you see how many people they're getting.
Speaker 3 (21:23):
Yes, yes, that's why they're on TV.
Speaker 5 (21:26):
Absolutely if people are going to see him, Kyle, can
you look on bet Park say if there's any line
on the next.
Speaker 6 (21:33):
Because somebody said to me the other day they want
here on Somebody said, well they won four to I said, yeah,
of course they won.
Speaker 5 (21:41):
Like like I don't know if they're playing the Washington
General and regular.
Speaker 3 (21:48):
So many these players are actually like fairly good.
Speaker 7 (21:50):
They do.
Speaker 5 (21:51):
Some of them are making money on the side they're
getting Like, good for them, go make money, be whatever.
Speaker 3 (21:57):
But please don't don't don't like the bananas. I just don't.
I want to watch real sports. I do understand, like, yeah,
they're on TV all the time, and if I change,
if that's right, No, Dick's absolutely right. That doesn't ever
get on my TV.
Speaker 5 (22:16):
But if I'm taking my grandkids, yes that's a fun day.
Speaker 3 (22:20):
But don't talk to me like I get it. She's
not what what are they al east of the Oriole?
Speaker 4 (22:28):
But I think they aline they're in Temple's leg. They
gave up all their prospects.
Speaker 3 (22:36):
I just don't. I don't make it. I do get it. Yeah,
I'll make it a three for three. It's for the
younger generations or for people that just want to be entertained,
that's fine. I'll make it a three for three.
Speaker 4 (22:47):
Watching the game last night, the Phillies game, not the
Savannah Bananas, Harrison Bader makes his debut. Are we just
gonna start giving standing ovations to everybody? Anybody and everybody? Now,
I get it, it's a big situation against, you know,
one of the best teams in baseball, But I feel
(23:08):
like it was more geared towards welcome to Philadelphia, Harrison Bader.
And I'm like, who was Harrison Bader. We're not talking about,
you know, Jim Tomey coming back to town. We're not
talking about Ryan Howard. It's Harrison Batter.
Speaker 3 (23:24):
He's he's he's an.
Speaker 4 (23:26):
Average player that doesn't move the needle. For the Phillies,
he might, you know, give him another bat in the playoffs,
but a standing ovation for Harrison Bata it just tells
you how.
Speaker 6 (23:36):
Yes, I mean, come on my golf. Where's my golfriend
is friends with Harrison's father. They know each other. I
don't know if it's from. And Harrison went to Florida.
My guys of Florida guy.
Speaker 3 (23:48):
So he's fine. So he likes and he understands.
Speaker 5 (23:51):
He said, Okay, he's here's the worst thing about the Phillies.
Speaker 3 (23:55):
He's an upgrade. That's the point the problems in this trade.
That doesn't put them over the town they got well,
but he might help them.
Speaker 6 (24:02):
But if they had gotten Beta Wednesday and gotten the
picture Thursday, everybody'd.
Speaker 3 (24:07):
Be going nuts. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (24:08):
But because they got the picture first and then they
didn't get and plus the Mets made moves, I mean
Padres made moves.
Speaker 3 (24:14):
I don't know what this is going to mean. Ye, so,
and I'm not knocking the move. The move fine, he.
Speaker 4 (24:20):
Didn't give up any Yeah, it's just the Philadelphia fan base, like,
it's just where does it end? So are we gonna
give a standing ovation to Johann Rojas when he gets
recalled from Triple A.
Speaker 5 (24:30):
Absolutely better not get recalled, so Iris Harrison Bader on
the season, twelve homers, thirty eight RBIs, eighty two strikeouts
in two hundred and seventy two at Pats.
Speaker 3 (24:42):
For his career.
Speaker 5 (24:45):
Twenty five hundred and sixty nine at Pats, six hundred
and twenty five hits, eighty three home runs, age six
and eighty nine strikeouts. He strikes out one of every
like three and a half times up, which is probably
fair normal and baseball, well, it's normal for the Phillies, right,
pretty good center fielders.
Speaker 6 (25:04):
Fine, he won a Gold Glovey's good defense. He's fine,
no problem. He had that one playoff where he hit
like five home runs for the Yankees.
Speaker 5 (25:11):
And if I'm the Phillies, here's what I would do.
Put him in center field, platoon marsh And what what's
the guy the auto kemp outo camp in left field
d f A. Uh, well he had Gabe Kapler.
Speaker 3 (25:27):
Oh god, yeah, I've seen enough, Max keV. I've seen
more than enough.
Speaker 5 (25:31):
Just getting Max, I mean, just get him out of here.
I don't know what the point of him, you know
what I don't understand about order makes no sense.
Speaker 3 (25:39):
Why why is Crawford? Why wasn't he called up a
month ago? Month and a half. Nobody see him.
Speaker 6 (25:46):
He's their second or third best prospect. But yet I'm
continually told, well, we don't know if he's read what Hey, dude,
maybe maybe.
Speaker 5 (25:55):
Your guys stink. Try somebody, maybe Crawford, to think about this.
Maybe if he came up a month and a half ago,
maybe he fails. Maybe whatever, what if he.
Speaker 3 (26:05):
Was decent, then you don't have to train for Bader.
Speaker 5 (26:08):
Well the guy remember the guy that they kept in
the minors forever around here? Ryan, Well that's Jim get it,
I know, but I know, you know if they brought
him up sooner, he'd.
Speaker 3 (26:19):
Being a Hall of fame. They have a track record
of holding people down to too crazy. So Duran is
that always saying the new relievers?
Speaker 4 (26:26):
Then Dan, Dan, I think four pitches last night, Now
he he's.
Speaker 6 (26:37):
There's two comeback when last night there's two problems. They
needed to close him. Okay, relief pictures. You never know,
and they got him for This guy could be great,
This guy could be okay. The first bomb doesn't figure,
but but never know, Yeah, we never know relievers, but
you have to have the lead for a closer to
(26:58):
not always helped him. Now, last night they got they
they scored two runs in the eighth, God bless them.
I'm worried about their offense, and again Marsha's hit been
hitting better, Riamlta has been hitting better. I worry that
they're going to have that funk that they seem to
(27:19):
have at the worst times where three or four guys
are going to go one for eighteen ye and strike
out a lot. And my only hope is that Harper
becomes Harper again, which he looks like he's kind of
morphining in that direction. Again Schwarber, I'm not worried about
schwart But again Schwarber hit a home run his first
(27:40):
that batlesser against the Mets, and then not getting another hit.
Speaker 3 (27:43):
He disappeared. That their team is so weird like that. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (27:48):
So the Phillers had the most runs in the Division
five nine, but Milwaukee five point thirty three, Cubs five
seventy one, even Cincinnati five to ten, US five to
seventy three.
Speaker 3 (28:02):
Arizona has more runs than the Phillies five twenty nine. MIC.
Speaker 5 (28:05):
To your point, they just can't get anybody out and
the Phillies can get people out. Yeah, Phillies are plus
sixty eight, which is the fourth best run differential in
the National League. Milwaukee and Chicago, one of whom they're
almost certainly going to have to play in the first
round of the playoffs because they're probably not lamp too.
(28:25):
They're probably not going to have the best division record,
I would tell the Dodgers and the winner of the
Central probably will be better. There's two months so right, correct,
there are now, but if you're gonna have to play
one of them, you'd obviously rather have it three games
at home.
Speaker 3 (28:39):
And you know what this means to the road, which
if that's why winning the division.
Speaker 5 (28:43):
Is going to be round but games in September, yeah,
they might not be able to take their foot off
the pedal.
Speaker 6 (28:48):
No, I mean and the Mets. They played the Mets
seven times. Yeah, they don't win up there. I mean
the Phillies record up there, yeah recently has been they
were evenly matched. But the last game is like the
first week of September. They don't play like last three weeks.
In fact, I think the Phillies end with the Twins
is a Kyle's the Twins. Yeah, there's the team that's
tracking well. The last three games are against the Twins.
(29:10):
It's gonna be a crucial.
Speaker 4 (29:11):
Game for at home that they have to win at home.
Uh yeah, and they're gonna get shut out by Mick Abel.
Speaker 3 (29:16):
The Phillies need to win the games at the end.
I mean, I don't know. They are at home.
Speaker 5 (29:22):
Yeah, three with the Twins, right before that, three at
home with the Marlins.
Speaker 3 (29:26):
I mean, you can't ask for much.
Speaker 5 (29:28):
I mean if the free three in Arizona against the
team not trying. Before that, you got some of the
Dodgers who will be trying, Royals who will be out
of it probably. And then Mike to your point, early
September including a nine to eleven game with the four
yere Mets and three there there's three correct? Another Marlins
at Brewers is interesting.
Speaker 6 (29:48):
I would think if the Phillies can win four to
seven against the Mets, they could be okay.
Speaker 3 (29:54):
I mean all you want to be is the Cereals
are here next week. Oh god, their scheduled. I don't say.
Speaker 6 (30:00):
It always seems to me when I'm looking at the
Phillies they're playing Drek and I don't know how to
do that because obviously you're playing.
Speaker 3 (30:06):
Maybe there's a lot of Drek. Well that's true too,
there is a lot. We got to take a break.
We got Jansen on the other side. Yeah, I think
we're gonna get Jansen physically.
Speaker 5 (30:14):
John Jansen again, Mike, top of the hour on the
window or whatever wherever we are, Michael, k was something
you're playing.
Speaker 3 (30:20):
I mean, I'm sure you all watch the Hall of
Fame game the other night.
Speaker 5 (30:25):
Uh not one second, Mike, No Sports air there and

Speaker 7 (32:24):
Right now, I'm just sitting in Wilmington, Delaware, Beautiful Wilmington.
Speaker 5 (32:29):
So I read it a little earlier about the MLB
trade deadline where all the teams under.
Speaker 3 (32:38):
Five hundred just trade all of their good players.
Speaker 5 (32:41):
The team's over five hundred and for prospects that are
never heard from again before we get to your baseball
picks or whatever else you might have today. And are
you as outraged as I was that, Like it was
just Rob Manfred should retire tomorrow, he should be fired.
Speaker 7 (33:03):
Would you agree with that Rob Manfred should be fired because.
Speaker 5 (33:08):
Because he makes lets this happen every year or teams
just get rid of all their good players in mid
in late July.
Speaker 3 (33:16):
Yeah, yes, especially with teams that are still potentially in
content yeade your whole team. It's absurd.
Speaker 7 (33:24):
Yeah. I think this is the most trades ever had
a trade deadline. So, yeah, this was Maybe this is
an out liar it teams are trend in this direction.
Obviously teams don't. There are certain teams that don't want
to pay players, and there are certain teams that want
to compete, but only at only when it gets to
a certain margin in their you know, financials.
Speaker 5 (33:43):
Uh.
Speaker 7 (33:43):
It's yeah, it's a problem for Major League Baseball what
Minnesota did, completely offloading every single good talent they have.
Maybe they needed to rebuild, but also I just think
they didn't want to pay the money. And Oakland doesn't
want to do it, and Pittsburgh doesn't want to do it.
And with Pittsburgh having be the most, the biggest, the
most well known young player in Major League Baseball, that's
(34:05):
that's a problem. You would you would like to see
that guy kind of get the money, get the.
Speaker 3 (34:09):
He's gonna be going a good team around him.
Speaker 7 (34:11):
Right, He'll be gone in a couple of years. But
it's just it's a shame. It would be great as
Pittsburgh was putting in money to try and make this
team work around Paul's teams. But yeah, money becomes a
big issue in Major League Baseball. I don't think a
salary cap is even gonna help it. Teams that don't
want to spend don't want to spend, and that's never.
Speaker 6 (34:28):
Gonna change what's Pittsburgh's incentive, John, There is no incentive
because the teams that that don't spend the money make
as much or more. I'm not saying they make I
don't know what the Dodgers make or what the Yankees
make a lot more than but there's no incentive.
Speaker 3 (34:42):
To spend money because it's just there is if you
if you want to win there what I'm saying is
you who owns those teams. You're more if you try
to win. Yeah, but he's making money. His team's going on.
You don't care he's not he's not making well.
Speaker 7 (35:00):
Yeah, that's that's the thing. Even the Phillies for a while,
the Phillies for the longest time, it wasn't. Everybody keeps
saying it was prospects and the and the reason why
the Phillies didn't win was because Ruben and mar Oring
your trade all the prospects. It wasn't that the Phillies
didn't want to spend money. They didn't spend anything. They
didn't want to go over to the luxury tax, they
didn't want to spend for big players like and even
the Phillies had that for that problem for the longest
(35:21):
while until they know I was getting Bryce Harper and
then they dish out another three hundred million dollar contract
and a couple one hundred million dollar contracts. So yeah,
it's the incentive is like, yeah, there there is none.
But it's just if an owner wants to win. And
that's the problem with major League Baseball. Some owners just
don't want to win.
Speaker 6 (35:37):
And here's the other problem. Now you're the Phillies, you're
in year four of this, we got a chance to win.
If you don't win, now you're going to year five
and you got like this pay roll that's through the roof,
and you got guys on your team that want you
got to sign.
Speaker 3 (35:52):
That's the other part of it. Fire them all.
Speaker 6 (35:55):
Yeah, I mean, it's it's like, you know, if you
find that happy medium, if you can win, like the
Dodgers have won twice in four years, I guess who
hire everybody?
Speaker 3 (36:05):
That's my fire everybody. And there is no dynasty in baseball.
I mean that's also John.
Speaker 4 (36:15):
I don't know if you listen to uh the beginning
of the show, but Dictor Aarty is just a little
sour because of the Orioles were big sellers at the
one they started.
Speaker 7 (36:24):
Yeah, well it's a shame because it's it's a it's
another situation, the same thing because the Orioles are part
of that team like a Cincinnati, like a Pittsburgh, like
an Oakland. They don't want to spend and that's a
team that very clearly needed to spend a ton of
money to get a lot of pitching, and they didn't
want to do it. They tried, and they gut at
least a pitcher, but they needed a lot more and
(36:45):
they just were unwilling. And it's a shame because they
brought up some of like Jackson Holliday, Gunnar Henderson, Adley Rutchman,
all these guys that came up, like they are some
of the top prospects in Major League Baseball. And uh,
I know because I work at.
Speaker 3 (36:58):
A card store.
Speaker 7 (36:59):
Now those guys still like have a huge market and
people really know them and like them.
Speaker 5 (37:03):
Uh.
Speaker 7 (37:04):
And all the Orioles did was kind of go, yeah,
we can try and see if we can win a
little bit, and that just doesn't work. So yeah, it's
the tough thing is like when teams are all in,
like the Dodgers, the Phillies, the Yankees, they spend a
lot of money, but they're there are too many teams
unwilling to spend even a little bit to try and
get their payroll up to end up winning. And the
tough thing is too but yeah, eventually you run out
(37:26):
of players to pay too.
Speaker 4 (37:27):
By the way, before we get out the way interrupting,
I am interrupting the host. It's a bold move on
my part, but I just had to bring up one
of the most bizarre things I saw, which was Sir
Anthony de Mingez. How about my man getting traded in
the middle of a doubleheader to the team that he
was playing against.
Speaker 7 (37:46):
So just switching people baseball, Baseball is ridiculous.
Speaker 3 (37:50):
Sometime day night doubleheader in Baltimore.
Speaker 5 (37:52):
The Oars ended up sweeping the doubleheader against the first
place Blue Jays, and in between games, Sir Anthony was
traded and pitched against the Orioles in the nightcap, but
had a great inning and then pitched against them again
the next day and then another great sorrow.
Speaker 3 (38:05):
Guys a free agent. That's another thing.
Speaker 5 (38:06):
I know. These guys are about to be free agents. Well,
we're not going to pay them, so they're out Thursday.
Speaker 3 (38:11):
Got traded during the game, like in the fifth inning.
Speaker 7 (38:13):
Yeah yeah, during the games and the team they're playing.
Speaker 3 (38:16):
Yep, come on again, you.
Speaker 5 (38:19):
Got a feckless commissioner. Another for food baseball. I don't,
in fact, fire all the commissioners in all the sports. Okay,
would you agree with them?
Speaker 3 (38:28):
Okay?
Speaker 5 (38:29):
I will. I will say, Josh, your commissioner John's a
little too animal?
Speaker 7 (38:35):
Does that?
Speaker 5 (38:39):
Well? Yeah, human way, we've got off the rails. Who's
the commissioner there's never one.
Speaker 7 (38:46):
I will I will say baseball has at least a
great a great person representing there, a great player representing
them in Bryce Harper that can stand up to the commissioner. Yeah,
Lebron James. Lebron James did it.
Speaker 3 (38:59):
Lebron James.
Speaker 7 (39:00):
He knew he had a bunch of power and he
got players paid a ton of money. So it's it's
really great that there is a player that. Look, Brce
Rupper has been around baseball more than anyone, like a
fifteen years old. This guy was a big time prospect.
He came up through the minor leagues really quickly. He's
he's been like the face of baseball, like the prodigy
baseball for a long time. And he knows he has
(39:20):
that kind of cachet. So yeah, it's it's great that
baseball has that at least so players can stand up
to Ron Man because, yeah, he is not the best,
he's the worst.
Speaker 5 (39:30):
He might he legitimately might it work yet because there's
a large crowd out there, it's fair, all right, John,
what he got for us today and the fine slate
first Saturday of August, August the second, give us some
games to pedal.
Speaker 7 (39:44):
Yeah, let's first, Uh, let's go with the Tampa Bay
Rays and Los Angeles Dodgers. So this one's a little
bit of a small money line. Blake Snell is on
the Mount. Blake Snell hasn't pitched all that much. This
is one where I really don't care what the pitching
matchup is. Tampa Bay Rays are not good and their
lineup is not very good, so they have a decent
pitcher on the Mount, Drew ras Newson. But I don't
(40:06):
really think it all that matters when you're going up
against the Dodgers. Dodgers haven't been perfect as of late.
But still, if I'm getting a minus one twenty for
one of the best teams in baseball just because of
a pitching matchup where there might not even be that
much of an advantage, I think I think Dodgers are
a pretty good play there.
Speaker 5 (40:23):
Let's go with The game is in Tampa Bay in
the Yankees Minor League stadium, which holds seventeen people.
Speaker 3 (40:30):
So Stein Brenner Field, Stein Brenner, why not, we'll make
it again. Base is bizarre.
Speaker 7 (40:37):
Yeah, so Karon does.
Speaker 3 (40:39):
Not like the rais. Dodgers are twenty over five hundred,
raised three other five hundred.
Speaker 7 (40:45):
Let's go with the there's two other games. I really
like the Atlanta Brays minus one twenty on the road
against Cincinnati Specs A stride on the mountain. Three point
seventy RA doesn't look great. Five and eight doesn't look
all that great, but I think he's been pitching better
as of late and change Burns. He's a really interesting
prosper back for Cincinnati. He's got electric stuff. The problem
is just to start hasn't really been the best start
(41:06):
of the.
Speaker 3 (41:06):
Ser This game is at the Bristol Motor Speed.
Speaker 7 (41:08):
Oh yeah, that's right, that's right, yep, yeah, yeah, I
forgot the MLB Speedway Classic, which actually looks really good.
They've done this a couple of times and it looks
really The atmosphere looks really cool.
Speaker 1 (41:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (41:18):
Sole lead producer of Fox Good Buddy, my big racetrack guy.
Uh And he's at the Bristol Motor Speed seven fifteen.
Speaker 3 (41:28):
For Braves, Reds Braves, Reds.
Speaker 7 (41:30):
Yeah, Braves, which is such a random game.
Speaker 3 (41:32):
But they have vehicles running around the infield between innings.
Speaker 7 (41:35):
Wouldn't that be cool?
Speaker 3 (41:37):
Yes?
Speaker 7 (41:37):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (41:38):
They should only run the bases by driving a vehicle,
the Brave.
Speaker 7 (41:44):
And also getting a nice minus.
Speaker 3 (41:47):
Hold on, John, hold on a second. If you have
a line on the Bananas game tonight anywhere, by the.
Speaker 7 (41:52):
Way, against the firefighters, No, I don't think.
Speaker 5 (41:57):
I have that. This is how bad it's gotten here,
there and everywhere these days. Mike Kern ranted against the bananas.
Speaker 3 (42:05):
It wasn't a ring. There wasn't nobody is safe on
this show. To entertainment, that was fine. My grandkids liked it.
Speaker 5 (42:16):
Don't tell me it's baseball, and don't put it on
twenty four. They're gonna have their own channel. It's gonna
be a twenty banana in.
Speaker 3 (42:23):
The Banana Channel. Mike Karn's like, oh yeah, the music,
get off my law. Fifty sixty years ago they had
the banana splits were on.
Speaker 7 (42:32):
Well did they How did the Globetrotters ever get that
kind of Well, yeah.
Speaker 5 (42:36):
They'd be on, like but John, fifty years ago it
was different. You didn't see they showing Wide World of
Sports once a year. They got Meadow, Lark, Lemon and
Curly Neal and it was great. You watched it and
you said, hey, that's pretty good. I don't need to
see five banana appeal games in a week.
Speaker 3 (42:53):
That's all.
Speaker 5 (42:55):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (42:55):
For TV in a live setting like being at the game,
they put on a great show and that's put up.
Speaker 3 (43:02):
You know it's great.
Speaker 5 (43:03):
Yeah, you've been on our set a number of times
out of here through the years. All these people at
the Slavish you're all looking over here at Mike Kurr.
Speaker 7 (43:12):
Somebody's ranting about a banana peel who doesn't hates potassium.
Speaker 3 (43:19):
Sorry, but that's what we're doing. What else you go?
Speaker 7 (43:24):
Last one, Oakland Athletics going up against the diamond Backs.
All Athletics, Oh, the Sacramento Yeah, well, whoever who?
Speaker 3 (43:34):
Philadelphia as the year there and everywhere?
Speaker 7 (43:37):
Yees, this game being played nowhere is yeah, that's true.
Bringing back a Philly I do it? Uh minus one twenty.
The Athletics going up agains Jack Allen five point six
year e RA for the Diamondbacks this season, and actually,
the Athletics have been one of the better teams of
baseball as of late. They've been really good. Diamondbacks have
(43:58):
been awful. They traded away a lot of players, So
I'm gonna take take advantage here of a of a
short money line for a team. Obviously that doesn't have
a good record, not very good. There's still some good
young talent on that team. Nick Kurtz is really fun
to watch on a few other players. But yeah, Athletics
have definitely been looking good as of late. And I
think I want to take advantage of the.
Speaker 3 (44:17):
Phillies lost to the Diamondbacks two years ago. I still
find that incredibly hard to believe.
Speaker 5 (44:23):
Yeah that was.
Speaker 3 (44:25):
Yes.
Speaker 7 (44:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (44:26):
Can I give you our good friend Daddy Barkowitz with
some school bawl Wheeler because that's a great game today.
Speaker 5 (44:33):
Yeah, Okay, Wheeler six and one at home this season
with a two e r A. He's lost his last
in his last three starts. He's given up four runs
in each of his last two starts.
Speaker 6 (44:48):
School Ball is just two and two in nine starts
on the road, but his e r A is one
eight nine and he threw seven shutout in his last
season against the Phillies with seven.
Speaker 3 (44:59):
Strike yes, one nine ERA on the road is do
you like any Do you like anybody in that game? John?
Or is that just stay away?
Speaker 2 (45:08):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (45:09):
And mainly stay away, but I would I would tend
to look towards the Philly side with Jack Wheeler at home,
Jack Wheeler probably gonna, I think, pitch better in this
next start.
Speaker 3 (45:19):
Lighting it off.
Speaker 7 (45:20):
No, And like, yeah, that's the thing is that both
both teams aren't really lighting it up lately, so it's
gonna be low scoring. I just think with the Phillies
at home, they tend to hit a little bit better
at home, So I would just say a slight advantage
to the phillis there. All right?
Speaker 3 (45:33):
So, John, now that I've calmed down from my rant
about the trade, do.
Speaker 5 (45:39):
You have any thoughts now as we obviously have to
re evaluate all these squads. The better squads obviously changed
their rosters to Dodgers significant extent. Right, Dodgers think they
have enough if they got all their people back healthy.
Some made really big moves, Some made no moves at all.
What are your thoughts now as we start the month
(46:02):
of August, we're two months from.
Speaker 3 (46:04):
The finish lines.
Speaker 7 (46:05):
Yeah, there were a lot of moves made. Again, I
think thirty six moves and maybe a little bit more
than that. I think the most of the trade deadline,
so it's a lot to move around. I think the Mets,
certainly for the Phillies perspective, they made a ton of
pitching moves and they got some really good guys Hellesley
and some others into the bullpen, so that's been great.
(46:28):
I really thought the Cubs should have done a little
bit more for their starting rotation. The fact that Merrill
Kelly was kind of out there and the Texas Rangers
ending up getting him. I think the Cubs had an
opportunity because they had such a great lineup. They had
a really good opportunity to get a top flight pitcher
and to really make a run at this, but they
ended up not doing it. They only got one guy,
(46:49):
Michael Soroka, and Mike Soroka, we know he's had a
ton of injuries. He doesn't really go deep into games,
so it's just a move that I thought maybe they
needed to go a lot more in on. They do
up getting some relief pitching help, which is good, but
I think the starting rotation needed a lot more. So.
It's kind of a shame because the Cubs the lineups there,
and they really could have competed if they went with
(47:10):
somebody but the National League. Yeah, just still looking at
the Dodgers, I think the Phillies, even though it didn't
seem like a ton the relief pitcher they got. As
we just saw last night, he is lethal. He's very
good coming late in the games. But also I think
Harrison Bader is a decent move. I wish they would
have gotten more of a bat. Maybe ao Henio Suarez
was going to be in play and that could have
(47:32):
been a lot better for them. But still I like Beader.
It's a right handed bat. It's a little bit better
of a move than Austin Hayes, that kind of caliber player.
It's better. Harrison Bader is better than that, but I
think it needed to be a little bit more. But yeah,
well yeah, not with Mayorfield either, But yeah, I just
feel like there were a lot of moves. I don't
think too many teams completely changed because if they did,
(47:55):
it kind of was even evened out by what the
rest of the teams did in Basel. So yeah, the
picture kind of remains the same to.
Speaker 3 (48:02):
Me, to be honest.
Speaker 5 (48:04):
Look, the Phillies needed to get a guy that they
can get three outs in the ninth in which they
obviously think they got.
Speaker 7 (48:11):
I think not not only they got, they got one
of the better ones. He's been that way for a
few years now, so they they did a great job
and look, they didn't want to get rid of their
top prospects, and they didn't. So now it's going to
be up to them whether or not they want to
bring those guys up.
Speaker 5 (48:25):
Yeah, it was interesting that they had a post game
interview with him last night. They had the interpreter that
every speaks perfect, she was perfectly.
Speaker 3 (48:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (48:33):
Yeah, that was a great postgame interview. The whole stosphere
and that look that can that can that can help
change the season. You know, the Phillies haven't been a
little bit in the dog days of summer. It does
seem like they've been like every team, every team's been
going through the motions. Every good team has gone through
a bad spell in July. So it's the dog days
of summer. It happens. But that's that's the one that
could really really get you going. Again, that that felt
(48:55):
like a playoff atmosphere last night from the Phillies side.
So that's that was really great.
Speaker 3 (49:00):
See they're playing a team a potentially could play the
World Series. I mean, you know, De Truit is.
Speaker 5 (49:04):
Certainly good enough to get out of the American League.
Nobody would argue that. And and as Mike was just
talking about the the really one of the great pitching
matchups of the season. Or Philly's and the Tigers tonight
at four o five this say afternoon, basically identical record,
Tigers sixty four forty seven, probably sixty two and forty seven.
Speaker 3 (49:27):
The Tigers last two weeks pretty much Stone, Yeah, really bad.
Speaker 7 (49:31):
Yeah, they've been bad yep.
Speaker 5 (49:33):
And Wheeler hasn't been at his best since that awesome
complete game a couple of weeks. Took ten days off, yeah,
which he says he never liked. That's I didn't understand
that whole thing. But again, you know, he's great. So
I'm not going to hey, John, probably.
Speaker 7 (49:49):
Not gonna But in the long run, I think it's
it's probably a good thing he got some rest, even
though he hates it accutely.
Speaker 6 (49:54):
A bit of difference in the end of September that
he took five extra days off in July.
Speaker 7 (49:59):
I'm so are Yeah, I don't know, take taking maybe
like a yeah, I mean look at to me, I
look at it. It's one hundred pitches left on his arm.
Speaker 5 (50:09):
John.
Speaker 7 (50:09):
Anytime you can get a little bit of rest for
an arm.
Speaker 3 (50:11):
I get it, John.
Speaker 5 (50:14):
But again, it's in It's two months before he's going
to be pitching in October.
Speaker 3 (50:19):
I don't care. The Mets have become the ultimate five
inning team.
Speaker 5 (50:24):
Their bullpen now is so good on paper anyway, if
their starters get to the six, let's say they're bringing
three guys in, they already had the closer.
Speaker 3 (50:37):
Don't trust, by the way, Yeah, well there's a lot
of closers I don't trust. I want to see him
get big outs, That's what I want to say. Yeah, no,
you're right, I've seen him.
Speaker 7 (50:47):
Yeah, No, ill on paper looks good, and I honestly
think that the Phillies bullpen now with the top guys, Uh,
it's not the best. I wouldn't say it's better than
the Mets, but it's a very competitive, uh you know,
top end hole Camarado games. So he's coming back sometime
in the middle end of August. But the problem is
he can't pitch.
Speaker 3 (51:06):
In the posts. He's gonna come back for twenty five.
Speaker 5 (51:09):
That's fine, though. They can use him pitch the hell
out of him. Yeah twenty five. Yeah, oh yeah, unless
he goes on a diet again. Yeah, he goes on
another diet.
Speaker 3 (51:18):
I don't know how that's going to work out.
Speaker 5 (51:22):
So John, I know We asked this every week, But
if you had, if you don't have to, if you
had to pick a winner of the World Series today,
do you have any wow it might win. It's become
the hardest of the playoffs to predict.
Speaker 7 (51:38):
I mean, yeah, and I just I can't say the Cubs.
I've really wanted to, just because like I look at
that lineup and I think it's just head and shoulders
above most lineups. Yeah, really fun team to watch. It
is one through nine that has power, that has speed.
It is awesome, awesome baseball. But the problem is they're
they're pitching is just especially starting pick that's gonna be
(52:01):
a little bit to overcome. And I don't know if
they're going to. So I mean the default for me,
I don't like the Brewers. I don't like the Mets,
the Phillies. I think the Phillies are up there, I
would say, but they even have some questions. Look, it's
Houston and the Dodgers. To me, like it's two teams
that have proven it is a it is a weird,
(52:23):
weird season so far. I don't think any teams stand out.
So when Houston goes out and just kind of goes hey,
what if we just get the old band back together
and see if we can just kind of run it
back again. So I think it's a smart idea, and
I think Houston could absolutely do it now getting Korea back.
But the Dodgers, yeah, they just they didn't do many
moves into deadline, really small pieces. I thought they were
(52:45):
really good though. That could help out. But mostly they
have the team. There's a reason why they didn't need to.
They have pretty much everything they need.
Speaker 5 (52:53):
So here are the bet Parks numbers with two months
ago in the regular season, and obviously you got to
win multiple playoff rounds to win the World Series. Dodgers
are favored at bet Parks plus two twenty five second
plus eight fifty two teams that are playing at four
o'clock tonight here in South Philly, Detroit, in Philadelphia, Mets,
Yankees both plus nine hundred Yankees. And they see that
(53:15):
fiasco last night in Florida. They lost like twenty one
to twenty.
Speaker 7 (53:19):
Oh yeah, that was that was bad bad baseball, bad baseball.
Speaker 3 (53:24):
They brought it. They just got the guy Bednar from Pittsburgh.
He blew up in the last.
Speaker 5 (53:28):
Day thirteen to twelve thirteen twelve final John, Your Astners
are ten at bet Park's Cubs at twelve, Brewers at fifteen.
I'll tell you what if I was if I was
playing today, I would take Milwaukee at fifteen.
Speaker 3 (53:42):
That is a good number. I think there are.
Speaker 7 (53:44):
Yeah, I have a I have a little bit of
a tough time with that, only because they do have
some young pitching and Mizerowski's one of them, and he's like,
we've seen it a lot, like yeah, yeah, the fifteen
is great. I just it's a the lineup that's over
performing and the starting rotation that is probably going to
hit a wall just because it's it's young. In some
(54:06):
areas we saw that. We thought it with the breaks
and they first brought up Spencer Strider and the Phillies
benefited off of that. He really hit a wall because
like he was too many, too many innings on his arm,
too many pitches on his arm that he wasn't used to.
Speaker 5 (54:17):
Uh So he had a John, I think. But I
agree with them fifteen fifteen is a big number.
Speaker 7 (54:24):
Fifteen a good number.
Speaker 6 (54:24):
I don't like Yankees Shattle in Toronto or fifteen well,
Seattle just really strength. I think used to attend to
one and I think anybody can win. I think literally
just looking for a pro. The Phillies, to be honest
with you, probably have as good a chance. It's just
that we live in Philadelphia, so maybe we look at
it differently.
Speaker 3 (54:44):
I just don't. I think it's so hard to repeat that.
I just think that, and I think you're right.
Speaker 7 (54:49):
The Phillies are one of the better team in the league.
Speaker 3 (54:53):
They're good.
Speaker 5 (54:55):
Dodgers might not win that division, that's right, And he
goes closing. That would San Diego's number. That might be
a play San Diego is although.
Speaker 6 (55:06):
Wow that way, Wow, they're only like two or three
games behind the Dodge.
Speaker 3 (55:10):
I am aware.
Speaker 7 (55:10):
Yeah, that's three games.
Speaker 3 (55:12):
It's harder to come out of that. Parks get out
of here.
Speaker 5 (55:14):
Oh my god, twenty to one on the yet on
the app with that bullpen Naga, that parkst oh Man.
Speaker 3 (55:21):
That might I might have to change. How about the Houston.
Speaker 7 (55:24):
Yeah, San Diego gets forgotten too, just because they're in
the division with the Dodgers. But yeah, Danego's got it.
I mean they I'll say, the San Diego is like
just as good as the Phillies, the Mats, the Brewers,
the Cubs. You're getting that twenty to one just because
they were up two to one.
Speaker 3 (55:40):
Last year, nobody would have heard of the Dodgers. They
would have broke the team off.
Speaker 5 (55:44):
Probably would have been gone. All been Christy gone get
him out. John's been nice having you on. Nice to
go back to Wilmington. Oh you're already in Wilmington. Yes,
enjoy line.
Speaker 7 (55:57):
We'll take you guys. Are you guys? Enjoy the five
all hour. We got golf plays from Mike turn coming up.
Speaker 3 (56:03):
We got golf plays, we got a little football.
Speaker 7 (56:06):
I don't know what else we'll figure who can I
can I say my way out? Trey Lance looked awesome.
Jim Hall doing his magic again, trying told another young
quarterback pray stop.
Speaker 3 (56:21):
He played against me. I was playing defensive back.
Speaker 7 (56:24):
Come on, you were playing defensive tackle.
Speaker 6 (56:27):
From Minnesota that the Eagles got years ago. And he
went eight for eight against the Packers. Oh my god,
we found Johnny United. I think I who won the
Bravn Trophy and Oklahoma Sean Bradford. He was playing against
the Packers thirteen exhibition football Lance. Okay, maybe Trey Lance,
(56:48):
at some point in his life will hook up with
a team and he'll be decent quarterback.
Speaker 7 (56:52):
It sounds like money.
Speaker 3 (56:53):
Did he look good last?
Speaker 7 (56:55):
I will give he looked. He looks like fundamentally better
than he did with something like fundamentally he looked a
little bit better six yards.
Speaker 3 (57:08):
I'm gonna go, Joe, take kids. Uh, just get a coats.
Mike Current with a record of stops very impressive. All right,
we got to take a break.

the regular PGA Tour season. The FedEx Cup playoffs start
next week. Yeah, nobody's playing first of all.
Speaker 7 (59:08):
Yes.
Speaker 5 (59:08):
By the way, Ohio State twenty eight fourteen. They beat
Texas in that semi final. I think Ohio State covered
all four. I'm not Notre Dame came back at the
end and the line got high. We're gonna talk college
football in aute.
Speaker 3 (59:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (59:22):
Now, the real drama in this tournament to a degree, Yes,
as guys are trying to qualify for the top seventy.
If you make the top seventy, you're playing next week,
and you're playing the week after if you keep playing well.
And that's where there's some real money. If you get
to the final thirty's.
Speaker 5 (59:40):
That's the Tour Chapion Backs in Atlanta, Atlanta, and there's
some big money that goes down that.
Speaker 7 (59:45):
Now.
Speaker 3 (59:45):
I don't know.
Speaker 6 (59:46):
I think they get points for FedEx points. You have
to finish either in the top ten, top fifty. Boy,
there's there's things. So some of these guys are probably
jockeying for something important. You know Cam Young who shot
like really good score yesterday, fifth teen under, three clear,
fifteen under after two rounds.
Speaker 3 (01:00:03):
Yeah, well they had lightning yesterday. The eight under yesterday.
These guys are good. These guys can go out.
Speaker 6 (01:00:12):
Sixty two is possible for just about any guy, any
if the conditions are right.
Speaker 3 (01:00:16):
They're playing from the white tees. Some guy named Meisner
that I should know and I apologize is twelve under.
Uh see the orioles and get trading. Yes he did. Yes,
My man in Sun JM is also twelve.
Speaker 6 (01:00:31):
Aaron Ray, who's a pretty good young golfer, is eleven
all three in his five p fifty Redy is five fifty,
Young is one eighty one eight three. He does have
a three stroke lead.
Speaker 5 (01:00:45):
Nine.
Speaker 6 (01:00:46):
Yeah, that's almost not a bad play, except you got
to trust Cam Young.
Speaker 3 (01:00:50):
He's got a big golfer.
Speaker 5 (01:00:52):
How much as say you have but three, So you
getting a three shot lead and you're only getting two
to one.
Speaker 6 (01:00:57):
But the idea is the cash that is that's the
guy who won last week. Kurt Kitty Am had played
really well last week.
Speaker 3 (01:01:04):
Second run.
Speaker 6 (01:01:05):
He's seven, he's eight off and he's sixty five to one.
I wouldn't go down. I would either say one of
two things.
Speaker 5 (01:01:11):
Now, you to bet Cam Young take the three shots
in hope, or you BETJM.
Speaker 3 (01:01:17):
I would go Sunjay. You could go Aaron Ray. I
think you don't want side fifty plus five to fifty.
That's not bad.
Speaker 6 (01:01:22):
You put up only three. Yeah, you're only three damn.
It's kind of like the Kentucky Derby with or you
could play the suit. That's what they should have in
this pot. They should have like super effectives where you
take tigger and three and seventy to one shots like it. Yeah,
my guy, of course, is not playing this week. Because
he I had a Horsell Billy Horshall, who has has
(01:01:45):
had surgery for something to back or something.
Speaker 3 (01:01:48):
He did play play next week? No, he's Oh he
didn't make.
Speaker 6 (01:01:51):
It well as soon if he had back surgery, probably
done for a little while, and he probably wasn't having
a great year anyway, which is probably why he had
the back surgery.
Speaker 3 (01:01:59):
But belly horse gone gone when all right? College football?
Speaker 6 (01:02:06):
You know why I haven't. We don't in my pool.
We don't pick the tour championship. Our last one is
who do you think I have in the two weeks
from now?
Speaker 3 (01:02:16):
You'll love this. Two weeks from now? Where are we?
Speaker 5 (01:02:20):
I'm not sure that you have Tompkins.
Speaker 6 (01:02:26):
That's gotta pay a guest. I so I might need
Beethoven to have a monster if he plays. See so
many these guys. That's the other problem. Let's say you're
Scotty Scheffer.
Speaker 5 (01:02:41):
You may not have to play just to get to
the final. You're in the final, and then and they don't,
and it's different than before. We're not giving the shots differential.
I think, yeah, that's correct.
Speaker 6 (01:02:52):
Scotty might say, you know what, I don't really have
to be there that week I'm hoping Ludwig has to be.
Speaker 5 (01:02:57):
There all right, believe it or not. Kyle and Mike
Week zero. I love this of the college football season
is three weeks. Favorite time of year. August twenty three.
The first game I see here, Mike is Kansas State
against Iowa State and Ioways State one eleven games last year.
(01:03:20):
They gave Campbell a five year extension. Kansas State, I
think is three and a half. This must be on
neutral field. I'm not sure where it could be. Sure
it is, it's definitely it's a versus rather than But
I know Iowa State was good last year. I don't
know they won eleven times.
Speaker 3 (01:03:36):
Boise State no giving eight plus South Florida.
Speaker 6 (01:03:41):
They're going to South South. That's a long road trip.
No blue, that's a blue turf. Is that a conference game?
Are they in the same comment?
Speaker 3 (01:03:47):
I think it is. I just don't know what conference
Idaho in Florida. That figures, right, Why wouldn't they be.
Speaker 5 (01:03:53):
In a safe conference?
Speaker 7 (01:03:54):
Is that is that?
Speaker 3 (01:03:55):
That could be a pack twelve game. I don't know
who knows.
Speaker 5 (01:03:57):
I'm serious, I know you are. I don't think it is,
but yet I got your point.
Speaker 3 (01:04:03):
I have no idea. We let's see what time this
game is.
Speaker 5 (01:04:08):
Six o'clock, Mike, three weeks from today, you Kyle myself
and we'll bring Jansen along. After the show, we're driving
to Piscataway to see Ohio at Rutgers.
Speaker 3 (01:04:20):
Oh, we'll grab, we'll grab.
Speaker 5 (01:04:23):
Uh, we'll grab some hogies, maybe some cheese steaks for
the rock six o'clock most time, will tailgate with the
Rutgers fans.
Speaker 3 (01:04:29):
What do you think? No, you're not doing it. You're
not in Ohio at Rutgers. Yeah, come on, I'm in Scarlett.
Speaker 5 (01:04:37):
Knight's giving twelve and a half. They're only giving twelve
and a half.
Speaker 3 (01:04:40):
Wow? Correct or or or.
Speaker 5 (01:04:45):
The four The four of us could grab a plane
Raleigh to see North Carolina, East Carolina John Jansen's album
Mater Again it's the wolf Pack, Belichick.
Speaker 3 (01:05:04):
I thought you were going to say we're gonna grab
a flight to Hawaii.
Speaker 5 (01:05:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:05:07):
I thought that was a little long. It may multip stands.
I like, we're getting an.
Speaker 5 (01:05:11):
We're going to go to Temple's opener at I think
a minute, East Carolina, NC State?
Speaker 3 (01:05:17):
Any what do you think? No, no, no, n She
stayed his favorite. I'm assuming they are twelve and a half.
Okay over there, I mean the Pirates, man, I mean,
you know, I don't think the Pirates were good last
year though, No, because they played Temple.
Speaker 5 (01:05:29):
At some point it was like, would you like to
row your boat to Minnesota the following week to see the.
Speaker 3 (01:05:36):
Buffalo's and Minnesota. That guy's doing a good job up there.
I just don't like you zero.
Speaker 5 (01:05:41):
Yeah, you're right, but I mean he is PJJ flight,
Yeah he is.
Speaker 3 (01:05:48):
Let's row the boat. Yeah, I wish he'd row the boat.
It's nice. It's nice in Minnesota at that time of
the year. It's not nice in Minnesota for very long.
Trust me, I'm usually there.
Speaker 5 (01:05:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:05:58):
I know, you get the bad, but at least like
the got emerge I was, you don't.
Speaker 6 (01:06:02):
I was there for two pg two PGAs and it
was beautiful three PGAs.
Speaker 3 (01:06:07):
I was there for three all.
Speaker 5 (01:06:08):
Right, Uh so little that's a little bit of the
early How about the week after that book?
Speaker 3 (01:06:13):
Week after that? That is tremendous. There we go week one,
week one. Can Matt rule figure it out? At Nebraska?
I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt.
Speaker 5 (01:06:23):
Minus seven against Oscar Robertson and Cincinnati.
Speaker 3 (01:06:26):
He's got to win that game. I mean, he's got it.
Speaker 5 (01:06:28):
That's a Big twelve game, right Robertsonnat's in the Big twelve,
except Nebraska's in the Big ten.
Speaker 3 (01:06:34):
See, I can't even just I know, man, Matt.
Speaker 6 (01:06:38):
I'll tell you what, all musical conferences. Matt cannot lose
that game.
Speaker 3 (01:06:43):
That would not be there. No, you can't.
Speaker 5 (01:06:45):
Not at the spread on that game sevenveneven a mere
seven point seven. How about this Auburn at Baylor in
Week one. That's a good game. Auburn minus one. I
might take the Baylors.
Speaker 3 (01:06:59):
I think Auburn supposed actually be decent this year. My terps.
Now we're on the what is going on here?
Speaker 5 (01:07:07):
Open with Florida Atlantic a month from today, giving sixteen
and a half.
Speaker 3 (01:07:13):
Yeah, I don't know much about Florida Atlantic.
Speaker 5 (01:07:14):
Dion opens at home against Georgia Tech getting four. Everybody
obviously heard the news about Dion this week with the
bladder cancer and his bladder was removed. And I've had
a friend of mine who had that a couple of
years ago. That's a nasty situation right there. Any cancer
is nasty. But yeah, you're right, that's not good. But
the game everybody's going to be talking.
Speaker 6 (01:07:36):
That is Dion's first game in three or four years
without his Sun playing quarterback.
Speaker 5 (01:07:41):
Correct, Hey, Sun played for him in high school at Jackson,
so it was more than four years. Sorry, I don't
know that he's ever coached with that. It's being a quarterback.
That's a good point. But the big game to start
the season, there's two of them. August thirtieth, Ohio State
giving three to Texas. That's a monster march Manning's debut
(01:08:01):
is Texas is good in Ohio State.
Speaker 3 (01:08:05):
It's unclear who their.
Speaker 5 (01:08:06):
Quarterback has gone well, both teams have new quarterbacks because
Art's only played two games last year.
Speaker 3 (01:08:10):
Right, Yeah, Texas defense is nasty.
Speaker 6 (01:08:12):
They are indeed, YEP twenty eight to fourteen last year
in the wherever they played that game at YEP, it
isn't dumb.
Speaker 5 (01:08:21):
LSU Clemson is that week. I'm pretty sure it is
Clemson giving three at home at night? Is at night
just a seven thirty post man.
Speaker 3 (01:08:30):
And LSU has lost four live straight season openers. Four
weeks from today.
Speaker 6 (01:08:35):
Brian Kelly went there because he said he wanted to
have a better chance to win the national title.
Speaker 3 (01:08:41):
Another name guy was in the final last year bed
Park's huge opener.
Speaker 5 (01:08:47):
That's two great quarterbacks in that game too, three hour
ride from right here, except don't go off the day
of the game, but they'll be more than that. Penn
State Nevada the wolf back forty minus forty five and
a half.
Speaker 3 (01:09:02):
I'm not looking.
Speaker 4 (01:09:03):
I'm not gonna pick on Penn State and getting Nevada
at plus five thousand on the money.
Speaker 3 (01:09:07):
Penn State.
Speaker 5 (01:09:08):
Their three non league games are just Nevada Villanova, And
who's the third one?
Speaker 3 (01:09:16):
Unnational?
Speaker 5 (01:09:19):
Not Central Florida, not South Florida by the way, Atlantic.
Speaker 6 (01:09:24):
The guy on the Bengals, the great Trey Henderson, he
went to Florida International.
Speaker 3 (01:09:29):
Really, I didn't know that, but I looked at it
still there. If he was, the line would be thirty seven.
Are you kidding me?
Speaker 5 (01:09:39):
Penn State's just doing what it has to do. I
get all that they're doing Villanova favor by giving Villanova
probably like a million dollars.
Speaker 3 (01:09:47):
What the guys come on?
Speaker 5 (01:09:48):
And then at some point some Penn State fans going
to squawk about where there seed it in the playoffs
or nobody's taking them seriously because they got a two
game season and they might win both games, even though
they haven't beaten Ohiot State since.
Speaker 3 (01:10:00):
Like, yeah, I don't think I'm betting that three.
Speaker 5 (01:10:02):
Joe a long time, he's mating. They beat him once
since since show up. But Joe didn't beat him that
much either. They didn't play that much.
Speaker 3 (01:10:10):
Tom Bradley, want to know he's won as many games.
And they blocked the field goal and ran it back again.
I know that the game they won the big I
know what a p State early and what a Penn
State only win to that game by like ten? Not
good wins?
Speaker 7 (01:10:26):
What?
Speaker 3 (01:10:27):
No against No, they went like twenty to ten. Where's Jansen?
He can name like the starting Oh he can?
Speaker 5 (01:10:34):
Yeah, you can tell me to back up offensive line.
But that day we are not We can we do this, Mike?
Can we four and a half hours to Amurs? Can
we make it?
Speaker 7 (01:10:43):
So?
Speaker 3 (01:10:44):
What if we talk to Temple they might have they
might put us on the charter.
Speaker 5 (01:10:47):
No, but we gotta go. We gotta do the show. First,
go up early, you'll go up on Friday. They're not
gonna go up on Saturday. No, No, we're doing the
show on Saturday. Can we get oh even a thirty pm?
Three th four and a half hours.
Speaker 7 (01:11:02):
Can we do it?
Speaker 3 (01:11:04):
Do we want to? Really good question? All we think back?
You guys can go right now? What we can charter
a playing from Mercer County Airport. There we go and Trent.
It's it's not far. What what do you think? I think.
Speaker 5 (01:11:18):
The two Temple in the helicopter on top of parks
and we'll just take us to the airport. Yeah, or
just take us straight to take us right there. Temple
has a tough for non big scheduled in Penn ste Yeah,
they're minus three at your Mess. It's probably about right.
I don't know anything, all Perry rematch. What are you
saying different? I saw enough of those games, brother oh Man,
(01:11:40):
Temple U Mess two schools that you both dropped football.
Speaker 3 (01:11:44):
Hey maybe Hey it's a new year and half.
Speaker 5 (01:11:47):
You know what's gonna happen At halftime they're all players
and coaches are walking off the field never to return.
Speaker 3 (01:11:52):
Yes, that's it. Here's my problem. The last you had
a lot of problem last eight years.
Speaker 6 (01:11:58):
I didn't care about I didn't care about the coach,
the carry guy that was a stupid man. The last
guy I just didn't know. I know Casey and he's
a good guy. I mean, I know some people don't
like him. He irritates him.
Speaker 5 (01:12:10):
Coach, he's He'll come out and tell you he's one
of those guys will tell you know, it's like Steve Spurrier.
Speaker 3 (01:12:15):
Yeah, and I'm rooting for him. So you know, we're
tapping out on the als that day. Would you agree
with that?
Speaker 6 (01:12:22):
And if we do, we're chartering or playing. They're not
tapping out on him. And against Oklahoma, no, we're probably
not gonna do.
Speaker 5 (01:12:30):
Uh So that night, Mike mentioned earlier l s U
at Clemson, this is the one game where I have
the biggest rooting interest. I'm fine with Dabo. He's a
little weird, but I got no profit with that. But
I do not like Brian Kelly. Nobody does, not as
a coach, not as a person. Nobody don't hope he
never wins another game in the rest of his luck,
and he might not. I'm taking Clemson minus three. See,
(01:12:52):
I don't care. I don't know anybody. What's a guy
or No, he's really good, but the the LSU quarterback's
really good too.
Speaker 3 (01:13:00):
Here's my thing. I liked Clemson two.
Speaker 6 (01:13:03):
Months ago now, so I can't back off that now,
But somebody will give me a great reason at some point.
Speaker 3 (01:13:08):
Why think about this?
Speaker 6 (01:13:09):
This is college football, and this is what the problem
in college football and there and they're trying, I think,
by expanding the playoffs or trying to Penn State's playing
Nevada and they're not the only ones, but Penn State
and LSU is.
Speaker 3 (01:13:20):
Going to Clemson.
Speaker 5 (01:13:21):
Are you telling me more than one team is playing
Nevada to day Penn State plays, probably they get.
Speaker 3 (01:13:26):
Split that.
Speaker 5 (01:13:28):
And again LSU doesn't have to go to Clemson. They
playing the SEC. They're going to play four or five
games during the course of the year. Doesn't tell me
Brian Kelly because he's gone to Clemson. Well, I'm not
sure he scheduled this game. But for some reason these
two schools. I understand Clemson because the ACC doesn't get
enough whatever, and they're like, Okay, I get it.
Speaker 6 (01:13:49):
They and they probably went to LSU last year. Maybe
I'd have to look that up. I'm sure it's a
two games show. You're not ready to come back it's three.
Speaker 3 (01:13:59):
But again, these two teams are they're both top ten
teams on teen ready for this show? Three seconds? That much?
What is the matter with you. But again, this is
college for by that much.
Speaker 6 (01:14:11):
So let's say a lot of time, let's the LSU
goes there, one of those teams going to lose, and
then they're gonna and then the whole Now, when it
used to be the two game bcs, those teams be
in trouble because now you're really fighting a built twelve teams.
Speaker 5 (01:14:26):
But again, that's great for college football fans. Ain't like
Texas going to freaking Ohio State. Who goes to Ohio State?
Speaker 3 (01:14:35):
Penn State does this year, Michigan does. Sometimes doesn't work
that well.
Speaker 5 (01:14:39):
Well, I'm just saying I admire teams and I understand
why some teams can't do that.
Speaker 3 (01:14:44):
I totally get it. But man, that that's what makes
college football great?
Speaker 5 (01:14:49):
Is it?
Speaker 3 (01:14:50):
On September to fifth? You have this game?
Speaker 6 (01:14:53):
These games? You know Albama does that. Alabama goes and
plays like Florida State. I know Florida State hasn't well
two years ago were very good. But I like teams
that will go and but at least it's an a
chance on losing. It's a competitive matchup. Nobody will and
I get when college football was two, only two teams
went Hey, yeah, I almost had to go on beating.
Speaker 5 (01:15:15):
More than was decided by polls than you really didn't
want to play anygain, Yeah, because you could lose to
the second best day in the country. If that point
you're out, you lose.
Speaker 6 (01:15:22):
I would have loved it the bad thing before they
put the BCS in. I would have loved to seeing
Penn State Nebraska in ninety four. I tend to agree
with you, Dick, but it was still Nebraska's great team.
Was the next year? Correct ninety one? You had what
was Michigan Washington? I think didn't or not?
Speaker 3 (01:15:41):
No, it wasn't Michigan Washington.
Speaker 6 (01:15:43):
Michigan split the title one year with somebody and they
couldn't play because they And ninety seven was the same thing.
And again that that and college football has tried to
straighten it out. They've they've you know, took them a while,
but hey, we have a playoff in basketball. We never
had that problem because they're going to play at some point.
They just might see them all. You know, No, there's
(01:16:04):
that problem. You can' can't have everything.
Speaker 3 (01:16:06):
Can't have everything. It's college sports, it's sports in general.
Speaker 6 (01:16:09):
Are you I know we're three weeks out, Yes, Ohio
State Texas thought, I don't know enough.
Speaker 3 (01:16:17):
I mean O High of State as the best player
in the country.
Speaker 7 (01:16:19):
Right.
Speaker 5 (01:16:19):
The White added, I get him the ball twenty times
a day as a freak show. But Texas knows that
and they're right, they'll have seven guys guarding. Yeah, I mean,
I High State lost a lot. Texas did not lose
nearly as much. The big question for Texas is is
arch Manning as good as everybody is suggesting that he
will be. And my question has always been, if he's
(01:16:42):
that good, why the hell wasn't he played Yes, it
wasn't like yes.
Speaker 3 (01:16:46):
But is he better than the state quarterback? Like, I
don't know who that is? They don't. I don't know
that they've even announced that. I am leaning towards Texas.
Speaker 6 (01:16:53):
I'm taking Ohist okay, but again I don't know. I
think Texas is really good. Yeah, and but Ohio State
is always really good.
Speaker 5 (01:17:03):
Yeah. I think Texas, until proven otherwise, is more of
a it's Texas.
Speaker 3 (01:17:09):
They're great, Well, they've been great once in the last
forty years. Well, last two years they were very good,
very good. Great. Vince Young, you covered it.
Speaker 5 (01:17:18):
Yeah, maybe that team beating the USA, that was a
great team and that's been there, one great team, and
like since Darryl Royal, pretty much nobody listening to the
show has any idea who they held.
Speaker 3 (01:17:27):
Darrel Royle is all the mic Daryl Morey just because Okay, first.
Speaker 5 (01:17:32):
Coach Daryl Royle was like a Bear Bryant Light, legendary
coach of Tom Tom Osborne Light.
Speaker 3 (01:17:38):
I mean, that's how good he was with that. But yeah,
I mean they're one of these brands that just hasn't
really been up to what it is.
Speaker 6 (01:17:46):
I don't watch a lot of games, like from start
to finish. I just I don't those two games that day.
I watched some football that day. I don't know what
else is going on those days. You know what I'm
in Myrtle Is that old the thirtieth television? Yeah, But
when you're in Myrtle Beach, you have other stuff to do.

Mike Kern Eagles Training Camp Report.
Speaker 6 (01:20:44):
Mike, Yeah, see, I understand the people whose jobs it
is to do this. If it was my job to
do it, I would do it and I would tweet
out the jail and just underthrow some guys.
Speaker 5 (01:20:57):
It is important to the to the teams, it's important
to the Eagle. This is where you start to become
a team. The young guys that they have on defense
that have to kind of, you know, take on a
larger I get it.
Speaker 6 (01:21:08):
I get the whole thing. It means, diddle, it does.
And I said, I gave you the Sam Bradford thing,
you know where we went against the Packers.
Speaker 3 (01:21:19):
And it doesn't.
Speaker 6 (01:21:21):
Jalan's not going to probably play. And this is why
the first four games of the regular season now have
kind of become because they play seventeen games.
Speaker 3 (01:21:31):
They're going to play eighteen games in a couple of years.
And we see it every year.
Speaker 6 (01:21:35):
Diagles. The Eagles are the first four games. Last year,
theore No resemblance. They look good enough. But again that
that was and they're going to Brazil this year too.
There's two teams. I think the Chiefs are in Brazil.
I'm not mistaken.
Speaker 3 (01:21:54):
If that's a.
Speaker 5 (01:21:54):
Horrible don't come back, you know, because all of a
sudden football is going to take over in Brazil. But
again we sold the Eagles, you know, they went to
the second game, the Atlantic game. You know, they could
have won, They should have probably won. Then they went
to the Saints. The Saints looked like they were the
best team in the NFC South. They throddled them, and
then nobody played against Tampa. Then they got a week off.
(01:22:17):
They looked like crap against Cleveland. Oh and then they
got hot and well they started to get Their schedule
helped them.
Speaker 3 (01:22:24):
So are you telling me you're not.
Speaker 5 (01:22:28):
To the training camp reports? No, I don't care, not
at the care center every day.
Speaker 3 (01:22:33):
They're not there, Then how can you how can you
possibly have an opinion.
Speaker 6 (01:22:37):
If you are a normal fans and you're sitting there
reading Outside Defense, reading Jeff McClain every day, who does
a tremendous job, and there's other guys who do tremendous jobs. Absolutely,
if you're sitting there reading these sleeperman former Elliot Shure, Parks,
Andrew deiceco on the fanati, these guys, it's there, it's
(01:22:59):
like they're lives.
Speaker 3 (01:23:00):
I but you're a fan. I'm sitting there. Oh my god,
DeVante Smith just beat Just what do I need to know?
Speaker 6 (01:23:06):
They drafted two great court defensive backs last year who
are like twenty two years old. Okay, they've got a
guy at linebacker who was could have been the defensive
player of the year.
Speaker 3 (01:23:17):
Campbell. I don't think he got enough No, No, the
guy from the Zach, I don't think he got enough love.
Speaker 5 (01:23:22):
Last year, they got a guy in the middle of
their defense who could be one of the best players
in the NFL.
Speaker 6 (01:23:28):
And even now, the guy they drafted, Jordan Davies. Suppose
they've got holes. They need some more russ guys. They
got a hole with safety. Maybe their offense is back,
it's the same offense and.
Speaker 3 (01:23:45):
Or whatever.
Speaker 6 (01:23:46):
I'm good with Iolays whoever plays right guard.
Speaker 3 (01:23:51):
I don't care. They've got a Hall of Famer. They've
got another guy who's my Lot who you know, the
center's really good. By the way, you get a lot
of I love him.
Speaker 5 (01:24:02):
Did I mention a horse called the Fly in Hawaiian
that ranted Parks a week or Sogo really really good
two year old. Well, the same stable has a that
they think is better.
Speaker 3 (01:24:14):
His name is my Lota. Wow.
Speaker 6 (01:24:17):
I mean, just keep it in mind every time, my Lot.
I mean this whole thing that the Eagles are doing
what we're I get why they're doing it. That's fine, whatever.
Every time my a lot of talks. I just love
what he loved because he didn't grow up here, so
he has no clue. He just says what he says,
enjoys life. I want him to come out for when
makes his dates. Jaleen Hurts is one of the I
(01:24:38):
don't think he's the top four.
Speaker 3 (01:24:40):
That's me.
Speaker 5 (01:24:40):
That's everyd what what? But for this team learn something
about He's going to be better this year. His numbers
are going to be better. Barkleys are probably going to be,
you know, not what they were last year. Who can
He's gonna rush for three thousand and and now you
have Dallas and Washington going through things that they're going whatever.
Speaker 4 (01:25:00):
Once out, Josh Harris, he wants out, man Micah wants out.
Speaker 3 (01:25:06):
Michael Parsons sent a letter Michael, There's only one thing
I know.
Speaker 5 (01:25:10):
Mike is going to make a lot of money, whether
the Cowboys, and probably it's going to be the Cowboys
because at some point he's well, you know what he did,
here's what he did. Good for it?
Speaker 3 (01:25:19):
He said. Let's say Michael wants forty.
Speaker 5 (01:25:21):
I'm just making up with no over the number, and
Jerry wants to get him at thirty two or thirty.
Speaker 3 (01:25:26):
No, no, no, no no. If you're getting him more,
you're getting.
Speaker 5 (01:25:28):
Him at forty because now micha Is said, no, no, no, man,
your franchise is worth.
Speaker 6 (01:25:34):
Clorin's been a good soldier in Washing I love that.
But Claurin had thirteen tds, really good. Nobody else other
wide receiver on their team had two.
Speaker 3 (01:25:41):
I love that guy. He Now you've got to tell.
Speaker 6 (01:25:44):
Their Ohio State receiver how many everybody's from Ohio states
running backs too. So now you got this team to
win to the NFC title game with the quarterback, and
you're going to screw that up.
Speaker 3 (01:25:55):
Ridiculous. But again, that's it.
Speaker 5 (01:25:57):
You know.
Speaker 3 (01:25:57):
I was thinking about this, that's the guy who gave them.
Speaker 5 (01:26:00):
Beat all the money and he can't. He can't walk
or run the same guy, right. I understand he's thirty
years old. I understand he's paying paying him. I was
thinking about this, don't give him the money. Hepe you walking.
Speaker 4 (01:26:12):
Receivers in football. That's not talking about because he plays
in Washington.
Speaker 6 (01:26:15):
Two twenty NFL Draft, how he was picking. I'm ging
it like sixth he traded out and he just screwed
up the Justin Jefferson.
Speaker 3 (01:26:24):
Thing like the year before. Whatever he trades out of sixth,
they moved down, they got something.
Speaker 5 (01:26:29):
He moved back up to tenth, DeVonta Smith. The next
pick was Michael Parsons the Eagles, And there were people
that won it and if they to take me, would
you have? I mean, Michael Parsons is the better player.
I'm knocking DeVante Smith.
Speaker 7 (01:26:44):
I'll take Devota Smith.
Speaker 5 (01:26:45):
I'll take Davante, but Michaeh. Parsons is the better player.
I'm not sure I believe it. Oh, in the hierarchy
of the NFL, No, I agree that people think that,
but one guy, one guy point of the scoring point,
but one.
Speaker 3 (01:26:58):
Guy disrupts games. If if you put Micah Parson, I
think he's kind of a front myself. That's fine. You
might be right. I think he's game. I think he's
awesome rushing the passer.
Speaker 6 (01:27:10):
But well, but again, the guy for the Giants forty
years ago was probably blockable in the run game. He's
like one of the great All I'm saying the guy
came out of Penn State this year's kind of the
same player. What I'm just saying is the Eagles couldn't
have went wrong unless they didn't pick one of those
two guys, and they did what they had to do because.
Speaker 3 (01:27:27):
They had screwed up the receiver. They didn't have to
by the way, took his brother.
Speaker 7 (01:27:31):
Was the A. J.
Speaker 3 (01:27:32):
Brown trade, the greatest, greatest trade than how he's ever meet.
And the guy they traded for him that they drafted
just got cut. Is that correct?
Speaker 5 (01:27:39):
I don't care what that they got it with the
fifteenth pick in the draft. They got one of the
top five receivers in the NFL, and they're paying him
less then like the three or four guys that might
be in the conversation with him.
Speaker 3 (01:27:53):
This may be one of the great Mike current, but
it is, isn't it. No, You're not wrong.
Speaker 6 (01:27:57):
I was because I was thinking, you know, Ryan Sam
She remntioned. She rementioned it, Ryan Samdberg. I don't know
if we that had happened by last week's show, if
we had mentioned it.
Speaker 5 (01:28:08):
Great Sandberg, the legendary Hall of Famer for the Cubs
and probably the worst trade in Phillies.
Speaker 3 (01:28:14):
Two worst trades of Phillies ever.
Speaker 5 (01:28:15):
Met Ferdie Jenkins in nineteen sixty six and Ryan Sandberg,
and they both went.
Speaker 3 (01:28:20):
To the Cubs not good now.
Speaker 5 (01:28:23):
But the Aja Brown trade and I get it, we
don't really talk it was that that was one of
the best trades.
Speaker 3 (01:28:30):
Why Tennessee wanted to get rid of him because they
want to pay him and they're stupid. But they drafted
a guy that you said just got good at Yeah,
that's why they're Tennessee. That's why they studied good. You know,
they're no good and they've never trailing.
Speaker 5 (01:28:41):
Yes, I knowed Howie went through a two or three
year period there after they he wasn't real good.
Speaker 3 (01:28:46):
If they won the Super Bowl, they kind of get how.
Speaker 5 (01:28:48):
We the way they do business with signing players, they
never go through this crap that Dallas is going through
ever and they've signed a quarterback, They've signed a wide
Rest Steven, They've signed lineman, they've signed defensive players. Anybody
that they want to keep, they pay and the next
the next ones are going to sign him another year
or two, the two defense.
Speaker 3 (01:29:10):
How about them last year getting those two guys in
the draft. That's one. If they got one of them,
it would have been really good.
Speaker 5 (01:29:18):
There we go updated park bet Park SUTs win the
Super Bowl six fifty six to fifty Eagles plus six
to fifty. Ravens and Bills still at seven hundred, Chiefs
at eight, Detroit at ten. San Francisco is seventeen to one,
Washington seventeen to one, Cincinnati twenty Washington.
Speaker 3 (01:29:42):
Where is Green Bay twenty Rams twenty for the.
Speaker 5 (01:29:45):
Quarterback back eight Houston thirty, LA Chargers thirty, Tampa Bay thirty,
Denver thirty three, Bears forty Pittsburgh is a joke.
Speaker 3 (01:29:58):
Aaron Rodgers at forty five, Cowboys at fifty to one,
fifty fifty.
Speaker 6 (01:30:04):
I think that's a little high, but fifty, but because
I think they can be a good team.
Speaker 3 (01:30:11):
But I don't.
Speaker 5 (01:30:12):
They haven't won playoff game since thirty years, barely ahead
of the Cardinals in the city. That's that's because that's
because they're in a division with the Eagles and the
Washington But I mean, look, Diagle, I think Kansas City
is going to be good.
Speaker 6 (01:30:26):
This bet like not better records Saints three thousand and one.
They could be thirty million to one.
Speaker 3 (01:30:31):
It doesn't matter who's their quarterback, Spencer Rattler.
Speaker 6 (01:30:35):
It doesn't matter they you know, the guy took the
job because he had to take only thirty of the jobs.
Speaker 3 (01:30:43):
But the next year. I still think.
Speaker 5 (01:30:46):
I think Buffalo's This is Buffalo's year to get the
number one seed because your schedule is easier. If they
get the number one seed, that means that either Kansas
City or Baltimore will have to go there. Buffalo's beating
them the last two times they Baltimore in the playoffs.
But anybody who thinks.
Speaker 6 (01:31:03):
Kansas City and I understand I have some mysteries now
with their wide receiver and if they are healthy.
Speaker 3 (01:31:09):
Anybody thinks Kansas City is going away, it just doesn't
get it.
Speaker 5 (01:31:12):
They may not get to the super Bowl, but somebody's
gonna have to beat Kansas City at some point.
Speaker 3 (01:31:17):
Enough of the future. The future is now, Kyle.
Speaker 5 (01:31:21):
Five nights from today, uh seven point thirty at the
lak oh No, it's pre season Cincinnati minus one with
Joe Burrow against Jalen Hurts in the evening Wow.
Speaker 4 (01:31:34):
I might take Cincinnati, and I think Jalen Hurts is
playing all four quarters.
Speaker 3 (01:31:38):
As is Borough Chase Oh.
Speaker 5 (01:31:41):
I didn't hear that they're bad, man. No, but I
haven't been paying attention. But I heard one thing that
has been.
Speaker 3 (01:31:48):
You don't say anything that's true. One of their teams
was playing guys. It ain't Cincinnati and at.
Speaker 6 (01:31:56):
Oh you know what, somebody said, might be a bet
this week the Raiders are playing at Seattle.
Speaker 3 (01:32:01):
I think on Thursday night Pete Carroll, when Pete Carroll.
Speaker 6 (01:32:04):
First took over Seattle, he played his guys in the exhibition.
When they got good, you didn't play them. So he
was trying to establish something. So there maybe the Raiders
and that's his old team Seattle.
Speaker 4 (01:32:16):
We thought with a new quarterback with but I think
Cincinnati you're gonna see a lot of Desmond Ritter versus
Dorian Thompson Robbins preseason NFL.
Speaker 3 (01:32:27):
You either got to have an inside tip.
Speaker 5 (01:32:29):
I'm going I'm better at Seattle by the way, giving two,
you get too. Yeah, I would lean towards the Raiders
Thursday night. I know nothing about either staff for that
one Thursday night at ten, you're gonna stream that there's
something good on the Food Network that night, somebody, Emerald
Lagassi's making something.
Speaker 3 (01:32:45):
Where are you guys gonna be August eighth for Cleveland, Carolina.
I'll be there. In fact, you know what, that's next Friday.
We can't leave after the show.
Speaker 4 (01:32:55):
Yeah, we can get back this, Cleveland's gonna play all
ten quarterbacks and this means nothing to nobody.
Speaker 3 (01:33:02):
But did you hear what the Cleveland owners said this week? Jeez?
Speaker 5 (01:33:06):
First of all, so you take in the third round
a five to ten quarterback. Then he was good in
college and he may be good in the pros.
Speaker 3 (01:33:13):
I don't know. Dylan Gabriel.
Speaker 5 (01:33:14):
Dylan Gabriel in the third round, and then he said
going into the last day he didn't have any idea
they were going to take Shador.
Speaker 6 (01:33:21):
And then apparently whoever was in his you talk about
him miss match. First of all, Chador should have been
the guy you took in the third round. You wasted
a think about this. If Shador ends up winning the
job or pick, you wasted a third round draft pick
on a quarterback that most people don't think.
Speaker 3 (01:33:40):
Is Joe flat going back there he's going to be
their starting quarterback. Kenny Pickett two years ago, he got
him in the playoffs. Eagles couldn't wait to trade Kenny
Kenny pick.
Speaker 4 (01:33:50):
How dysfunctional is that? Yeah, you take Dylan Gabriel and
then you also take Shador, saying.
Speaker 5 (01:33:55):
Which if Shador ends upon a new stadium they want,
but you wait you wasted a third round draft pick.
Just don't take any quarterback. Feel bad because I think
that head coach is actually half decent. Again, Oh no,
he's fanning.
Speaker 6 (01:34:12):
The Flacco got him to the playoffs two years ago,
one eleven games, crose interceptions, but okay they let him go.
Speaker 3 (01:34:19):
Okay, fine, whatever. Now you're gonna play.
Speaker 5 (01:34:21):
Who was the quarterback the DeShawn Watson. No, it wasn't
DeShawn who. Somebody played quarterback for them. I don't know
who did. Nobody remembers, But again, who you've had one
hundred quarterback since the moment they shined to Sean Watson.
Speaker 3 (01:34:33):
This is the curse of DeShawn Watson.
Speaker 5 (01:34:35):
Nothing's going right. Nothing that they deserved, That they deserve it.
You are absolute worse.
Speaker 3 (01:34:40):
So here's sorts. Here's the thing.
Speaker 5 (01:34:42):
People don't forget this go out. They had Jameis Winston
man in the off season.
Speaker 6 (01:34:47):
You'll between twenty twenty one and twenty twenty two, the
Eagles looked at quarterbacks.
Speaker 5 (01:34:55):
They will disavow that Shawn Watson Deshaun Watson. Now I'm
not saying they were into but they did their due
diligence and they looked at all.
Speaker 3 (01:35:03):
Their quarterbacks due diligence. That's a that's a big term
for you. It's a lawyer. Do you really know what
this guy who now has won a super Bowl for you?
Speaker 5 (01:35:12):
Guy you were thinking about looking for a replacement for
him because you didn't like the way he had played,
is a book and now it's like, oh, we loved him.
Speaker 3 (01:35:23):
Could you imagine if the Eagles is signed to Sean Watson?
Can you imagine that?
Speaker 7 (01:35:28):
Now?
Speaker 3 (01:35:29):
Oh my god, that's why? Well they did.
Speaker 5 (01:35:33):
That's how stupid they are. I mean, what not only
not only could you not do it for political reasons?
Speaker 3 (01:35:40):
He stinks and you gave him more.
Speaker 5 (01:35:43):
This is why, this is why you can't the Fliers
can't sign quarter hard right kind of sports.
Speaker 3 (01:35:53):
You can't make it up.
Speaker 2 (01:35:56):
You can't.
Speaker 6 (01:35:58):
And do you realize Luke is going to sign a
contract in three years. I think he's going to be
able to look almost five hundred million dollars?
Speaker 3 (01:36:06):
What was the Eagles franchise worth when Jeffrey Leury bought it?
Like one hundred million?
Speaker 5 (01:36:11):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:36:11):
Like and they said he overpaid.
Speaker 5 (01:36:14):
Hundred and eighty five million and they said he overpaid
I remember reading stories in Armen. What is Jeffrey Louri
doing yeah, Norman Bradman, man, it got a deal three
or four billion, many billions, many billions, a couple bill
But Lucas going to sign a contract for like four
hundred man, Luca, you see him, my man Stephen A.
Speaker 3 (01:36:36):
Smith. I'm gonna give Steven and he wasn't doing Gate
said he brought this up. Give him credit. Why didn't
he do this for down? That's great. If you're down
and I'm starting to side, I'm trying to side with Yeah.
Now now you're gonna get Now you think it's Luca
is a bit of a fraud.
Speaker 5 (01:36:53):
He's got fraud of He's tremendous, he's he's he took
him to a fine one of the most offensively skilled
players in basketball.
Speaker 3 (01:37:00):
And if Kylee doesn't get hurt, I mean, you know,
but but there's a front. The next defensive possession he
plays will.
Speaker 5 (01:37:09):
Be Somebody said, is this new physique going to make
him defends a statue? He's a madicant, He's horrible. We
go back and watch the files. What what the Celtic
should have been declared?
Speaker 6 (01:37:21):
You can't defend the pick and roll, right, that's the play.
But just do that though, and the guy cuts, he
can't keep his man. How many backdoors he gives up?
Speaker 3 (01:37:30):
He doesn't you know who he can play for.
Speaker 5 (01:37:33):
He couldn't play for dump because don't they give up
a back door? When he was at Penn, right, but
that was the rule. Probably would have.
Speaker 3 (01:37:39):
Taken him at he didn't need him. He might have
taken him.
Speaker 5 (01:37:42):
Could he have got a little south to the n
C Double A tournament, don't, Luca Lucas, Let's be realistic.
You've seen We've all seen all these players in shape.
We've seen Kevin Durant probably won the greatest score. Is
(01:38:03):
Luca the greatest I'm gonna say this wrong, but talent
that we've ever seen.
Speaker 3 (01:38:10):
No, no, but the first sixth nine guy that's got
the ball.
Speaker 5 (01:38:13):
In his hands, let me very skilled. I don't love
his three point shots. It goes in enough, but it's
not like you would never teach it. Uh So, from
that time he sees the game passing, he can pass it. Obviously,
he's in slow motion, solid rebounder. But and and can
score on anybody because he's like six nine or whatever, that.
Speaker 3 (01:38:34):
Six six six. Yeah, I just a question.
Speaker 5 (01:38:41):
I mean, yeah, your point man like Stevens said, why
why now I think about it? To be honest, when
I see a guy like Joker, Joker might have a
better skill set.
Speaker 3 (01:38:53):
It's Joker. Joker's skill set is ridiculous. He just doesn't
and unique.
Speaker 5 (01:38:58):
He doesn't lead a lot of fast breaks though he
could for sure. He sees the game.
Speaker 3 (01:39:03):
Those length of the court passes.
Speaker 2 (01:39:05):
He may.
Speaker 5 (01:39:06):
I love watching Joker, He's actually my favorite player to
watch it again.
Speaker 3 (01:39:09):
Did you see the latest thing they're talking about?
Speaker 6 (01:39:10):
And I don't know if you got apparently Magic and
his whoever his guy is Johnson, None of them are Magic.
Speaker 3 (01:39:19):
The guy on l Aron Lebron Ron Lebron.
Speaker 6 (01:39:22):
And his business is long time business guy thinking about
starting the league in Europe. Luca is so far not
signed with Denver past this season, and there's a rumor
that Luca might not Luca Joker might want to go
back to service and maybe play in Europe.
Speaker 3 (01:39:39):
With You know, he does like to fly home there
watch his harness horses rough. He loves his I saw that.
I saw that loves They want a big use. I
think he's tremendous.
Speaker 5 (01:39:51):
I love Joking and right A second round pick in
sports est Yep, that's a that's a great question.
Speaker 3 (01:39:58):
You have three m v p s.
Speaker 5 (01:39:59):
Huh is better than that Tom Brady greatest six d
that's that's that's yeah. And there's been some really great
second round picks. Johnny you greatest, no kick at all,
he just he was Louisville. Look, Johnny the Great Johnny
Knights not drafted. I mean it just it's a inexact science.
Weird stuff happens. And then the Sixers took Mark Hill
(01:40:21):
falls number one. When I first mentioned of the Sixers,
I hadn't got him in before the show.
Speaker 6 (01:40:27):
Yeah, I took you back to the Sixers and the delete.
I could give you worse than more for I'm sure
Saler hallim All.
Speaker 3 (01:40:40):
Can't make this up. Kyle, this was my youth, this
was my whatever. Alright, Well, I had Dick Allen in
my youth. Did Hall of Fame right?
Speaker 5 (01:40:50):
He was Richard Dick Allen, one of the legendary athletes
and filled up his sports out of doubt. His brother
Henck I knew his brothers, a horse trainer in mal
great guy also played.
Speaker 3 (01:41:02):
In a major league something.
Speaker 6 (01:41:04):
Seems like a really nice guy. He's been doing a
lot of stories.
Speaker 5 (01:41:07):
And probably twenty years too late in the Hall of Fame,
but at last he finally got it deservedly so one
of the great players of this era. You have been

up minus the money line the money.
Speaker 3 (01:42:14):
Mike Kerran, Ladies and gentlemen tap out on the Eagles out.
Speaker 5 (01:42:19):
I got tamp out, Tapioca tap unless Jalen goes down
in the first quarter, or they can't lose that game
to the Cowboys.
Speaker 3 (01:42:28):
All right, what will happen to the city. It will
be all over.
Speaker 4 (01:42:32):
That's potentially a Michael coach fired, Sirianni gone. They might
just disband the team.
Speaker 6 (01:42:38):
Everybody did even mention Sirianni. The possibility of him being
gone really is doesn't.
Speaker 3 (01:42:45):
Get I think he's on the hunts. He going into
the I would agree with that.
Speaker 5 (01:42:48):
When was the last time he as he wanted to
get in bed six seven game stretch? But answer this question,
as he won any games since Sebruary? You're not because
when they win, the players win. When they win, the
player when they lose, he stinks.
Speaker 4 (01:43:03):
Did you see how bad they played in the last
four minutes of that Super Bowl game?
Speaker 3 (01:43:07):
That was all his fault. Terrible games, terrible game. He
didn't like anything about it.
Speaker 5 (01:43:10):
All Right, we gotta get out of here, please, it's
