Speaker 2 (01:14):
Jenamens I like to hear le might never get back.
Sean bar Back in the studio file is off this week.
Janson's calling in at nine point thirty. The Mets have
imploded completely. Have lost you ready for this, Mike, fourteen
of sixteen. The Phillies, who were playing good enough, have
opened up a six game league Milwaukee for the people

(01:36):
that are semi paying attention. Trailed eight to one at
Cincinnati last night, came back to win ten to eight.
Have won thirteen in a row and are now seventy
seven and forty four and have blown open the National
League Central Dodgers in the San Diego Padgers in a
dead heat after Dodgers win last night. That's the baseball situation,

(02:00):
and we'll get into all that in detail again. Nineteen
days Eagles minus seven still at bet Parks over Dallas.
Mike karrent Is betting it all on the money line
minus three AJ. Now you know AJ, I don't know
what his status is. Isn't he been out? Who is brown?

Speaker 5 (02:19):
He's been like he hasn't practiced in a week and
a half.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
Is he Ben a player? Don't know. Bet Parks thinks
he's playing. I'll see the spread Jasee, I hear you
do they know more than you do. I'm with you.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
I thought you had all the ends. I have some
of them. Bet. Mike Kerrent says, it's a lot minus
three fifteen.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
But you're hedging at the moment.

Speaker 6 (02:37):
Is that correct?

Speaker 5 (02:38):
I still think they're going to win the game. But
if AJ's not on the field, you're not happy about that. Oh,
but Parsons might not be on the field.

Speaker 3 (02:44):
Well, there's that over under forty six and a half.
Top of the Hour.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
Mike Karn on the BMW Championship at Cay's Valley, Owings Mills, Maryland,
the final event of the FedEx before the final final
event which will be the Tour Championship Week in Atlanta.
Caves Valley, for the people that don't know, is an
Owings Mills, Maryland.

Speaker 3 (03:04):
Have you ever gone down to Baltimore.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
You go around six ninety five the Baltimore Beltway, you
get past Towson, you get the Owings Mills that opened
in nineteen ninety one, Mike, Caves Valley, so it's.

Speaker 3 (03:13):
Not an old course. At Robert McIntyre blowing.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
The field away at Mine fourteen, he is Scotty three
Belt Cheffer's five back five.

Speaker 3 (03:22):
Well for Scotty, that's three. I like that.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
McIntyre sixty two sixty four, first two days.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
Luku's in third our.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
Man Beethoven aka Ludwig and Oberg.

Speaker 3 (03:36):
We call him back. I have him in my pool.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
Of course you do. The Premier League come in. I
was going I was going to congratulate, thank you Liverpool
for Bournemouth two. A lot of new players for Liverpool.
You know what, of all the sports leagues, the Premier
League does it right. There's twenty teams. They play thirty
eight games home and home with everybody whoever has the

(03:59):
most point three for a win, one for a draw,
zero for a lost. Wins, there's not no nonsense. We
go from August to May and it's how it's supposed
to be done. And right now Liverpool three. Everybody else nothing,
No playoffs, just neither regular season. Anybody?

Speaker 3 (04:17):
What was the last time to repeat it?

Speaker 7 (04:18):
Is it?

Speaker 2 (04:18):
The repeats happened? Man City did like a budget, that's right,
that's right. Yeah, they were awesome, they were they were incredible.
Uh and we're not gonna throw this out for later,
but uh, the NFL network is putting out a deal
now the top one hundred players in the league.

Speaker 3 (04:32):
Uh, they're through. They're down to the thirty one through
one hundred.

Speaker 2 (04:37):
Eagles have four on the lists so far forty three
Jalen Carter, forty nine Quinon Mitchell. But if I could
read my own writing, Cooper Degen at sixty and Jordan
Mylot at sixty nine. The way I'm looking at this,
they're going to have another six at the top thirty Perks,
Saquan Lane, Johnson, Dickerson, Brown, and Smith? Is that sad

(05:01):
about right? Anybody else? Am I missing? Anybody?

Speaker 3 (05:04):
That sounds about right? Okay?

Speaker 8 (05:06):
I finally heard a radio show yesterday on the NFL network,
Dick in my Car, where they had Jalen Hurts is
the top five quarterback.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
Interesting.

Speaker 8 (05:14):
I can't tell you I've heard National Perspective like that
the guy.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
But they're revealing ten a week. Next week will be
twenty one to third.

Speaker 5 (05:23):
First of all, before I I want to congratulate him,
he's going into the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame on
in November.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
Legacy of legacy, which needs I've been around a long time.
That's the key. That's the key again. Mel Greenberg got
that award.

Speaker 5 (05:40):
I believe sar you you know, Ted Slarry should have
been in, but tenn is going in next year.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
He's yeah, that's great. I was legendary and he was
the best to who declined. They tried, Oh my gosh,
and Royal loved this story. They wanted to get Ted
in like ten years ago, more than that, and Ted said,
you know what, yeah, no I'm not. I don't need
to go in because that was teda passed away a
couple of years ago.

Speaker 3 (06:04):
And he said, instead of me, put Phil Jasper in.

Speaker 2 (06:08):
Phil Jasper went in November ten years ago and passed
away a couple of weeks later. So it was a
really great gesture on Ted's park. But yeah, I'm told
that Ted is going in. But yeah, legendary guy, But
thank you for that. November sixth at Live, come on down.
Jeffrey Lurry is going to be honored. Clyde Simmons of
the Eagles. The Vellingo, a nineteen eighty five championship team

(06:30):
has got to be honored as a team and a
bunch of other that's cool players coaching.

Speaker 5 (06:36):
I went last year. It's a nice because Andy Twley
was going in night his first time. I'd ever been
to it. Yeah, I've been three.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
It's a long one, but I promise I will not
be long.

Speaker 3 (06:46):
I will speak quickly.

Speaker 5 (06:47):
I don't think it's the people to get in, it's
the people to introduce the others.

Speaker 8 (06:51):
Well, it's in the calendar right now. I could promise
you this, dick, and then the gambler will be there.
Sarahcuse you guys have been leading the charge for us
for that five years. Can't thank you enough. And much dessert,
much deserve. The guy on I will I will send
you the particular. The guy on ESPN put it perfectly.
The guy, the guy who was on the NFL network

(07:12):
was now in ESPM, Peter right, and he's because he's
not one of these hot take kind of and they
brought that up the other day and he says, listen,
he goes, I'm telling you, if you talk to NFL executives,
you talked to what we're talking about, the Jailen Hurts.

Speaker 2 (07:27):
So that's why I can't never figure we're talking about
the Hall of things. Where is he because he is
just he had just brought up Jailen Hurts. Not at
that second, Yes he did, did you no? And then
I digressed and congratulated you.

Speaker 3 (07:43):
Let's go for it.

Speaker 5 (07:44):
So and he said, if you talk to people, Siriani
would not be considered probably in the top eight or
ten coaches whatever, even though he's whatever he's done. Jailen hurts.
He said, probably would not be. He might be seven
eight or whatever. He would take uh, maybe the guy
on the Chargers for whatever.

Speaker 3 (08:03):
He's but he said it doesn't matter.

Speaker 5 (08:05):
He says, for Philadelphia what they are and what they
do in the city, and they're perfect, and he's absolutely right.
But we get all whacked out of it or not us,
no you, I don't, but Philadelphians too, because Philadelphians, like
you got him ranked behind this guy.

Speaker 2 (08:21):
It doesn't matter.

Speaker 5 (08:22):
Jaalen isn't in just in skill level, it's probably not
one of the he's definitely not one.

Speaker 3 (08:28):
Of the top four guys.

Speaker 5 (08:29):
Mean, he's like, okay, fine, but that I don't care.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
Because he's been to two Super Bowls. He won't one
almost one of he was going to be. He could
have been the MVP in twenty two if he doesn't
miss those two games. Okay, he was the MVP favorite
when they were ten and one in twenty.

Speaker 3 (08:44):
Three after that Buffalo in last year.

Speaker 2 (08:46):
Okay, he started and they decide we're gonna run the
ball because hey, we're gonna win sixteen or seventeen.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
And in the Super Bowl when.

Speaker 2 (08:53):
They deid, he did what he had to do. But
Jalen's not Jalen isn't the kind of quarterback.

Speaker 5 (08:58):
If you put them on team say hey, we're going
to throw forty five times a game and you're gonna throw. No,
that's not him, And that's okay. Can he do it
once in a while, sure he can. But we saw
what he tried to do at the end of the
twenty three season when he was trying to be the
hero and.

Speaker 3 (09:12):
Do this and do that. Didn't work.

Speaker 2 (09:14):
So that But I'm okay.

Speaker 5 (09:15):
If people wanted to want to rank him as the
eighth best quarterback or the ninth rang Sirianni's the eighth
best coach.

Speaker 2 (09:20):
Good What is Nick Sirianny throwing wrong?

Speaker 5 (09:23):
Except for that six game stress, seven game stretch where
they stunk and nobody could figure out why they stunk.

Speaker 3 (09:29):
It's still in the great Unwritten story of Philadelphia sports.

Speaker 2 (09:32):
Nobody whatever explained what the hell happened? You know, you
know what I'm Fagan at some point.

Speaker 5 (09:38):
Maybe they don't know because I think somebody like Kelsey
or somebody's down on the team, it might have said
something to somebody like, yeah, I think that the forty
nine ers came in and pounded him. They went to
Dallas and fumbled three times inside down, and the Seattle
game we do, and then the Cardinal game.

Speaker 3 (09:56):
They were atrocious defense.

Speaker 2 (09:58):
And that's where they Cardinal game, you're up twenty one
to six at halftime.

Speaker 3 (10:03):
I mean, well, you know, just real quick, because you're right.

Speaker 8 (10:06):
I try not to get caught up in the rankings,
especially when it comes to quarterbacks, because he could read
right through it. If you say something negative about Philadelphia,
that's gonna get you through. Dick and I were talking
the other day about like your topics during the summertime. Well,
you know Colin Cowherd, who's on his station earlier, he
knows that if it's in the middle of the week
talk about Philadelphia a negative manner, he's good for three hours.

Speaker 3 (10:26):
So I don't try to get bogged down.

Speaker 8 (10:28):
But what irks me is like when people try to
define the quarterback position, it's like it's all about winning
and and O. By the way, that tush push. Other
quarterbacks try to run it and they don't do it
effective as Jalen Hurts does well.

Speaker 2 (10:40):
Josh Allen couldn't do it last year fourth and one.
Maybe he did. I mean, we're so here's what Jalen is.
He's tough.

Speaker 5 (10:48):
He showed it at Alabama when he came off the
bench in that game and it took them to the
SEC title.

Speaker 4 (10:55):
Thing.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
He's tough, he's a winner and he and like there
was times in this in this the last few years,
Robert said he's the second best quarterback to Mahomes.

Speaker 5 (11:03):
But I don't care if he's the fifth, sixth, seventh.
If you want to take the guy on the charges
ahead him, Hey.

Speaker 3 (11:10):
He's the prototypical Justin her Justin Herbert.

Speaker 5 (11:12):
If you're going into a laboratory and you're building a quarterback,
he has a name, here's Justin Herbert. But then you
get people say, well, he's better than Burrow, because wait,
but Burrow went to a super and Burrows better than Herts.
I'm sorry, you know, I think Burrow is better than everybody.
You might use my favorite guy.

Speaker 2 (11:29):
Give me a guy who throws a great ball, obviously
has great receivers, but absolutely love Joe.

Speaker 8 (11:34):
Makes it look pretty easy, and as they did in
game one of the preseason, it looked like that was
week eleven, yesterday last week.

Speaker 2 (11:41):
So somebody's listening down south. Kyle Nunamaker just chimed in
from from Hilton or wherever the hell.

Speaker 3 (11:48):
He's He's driving to South Carolina right nine oh nine,
and Mike Kerrn is already unhinged?

Speaker 2 (11:55):
Is the text?

Speaker 6 (11:56):
Thing?

Speaker 2 (11:56):
Got bo Jangles? It's all I got to say, bo
Jang games to that.

Speaker 3 (12:01):
I mean, so that was like a semi ran. Do
you have any actually was a ran?

Speaker 2 (12:05):
I was just no.

Speaker 5 (12:06):
I was telling you what the guy on ESPN had
said about jail and Syrianny people.

Speaker 2 (12:12):
What how how can you.

Speaker 5 (12:13):
As a rational person? Seriously, rip Sirianni. I'm not saying
he's Vien slum. You don't have to say he's as
good as Andy Reid proved me wrong.

Speaker 2 (12:22):
But again, people wanted to fire him because of that
seven game thing, and the playoff game was because AJ
didn't play. They had no chance in that game. They
wasn't gonna win that game. But he's got to accept
blame Ford, He's part of it. What I've liked about
him from the beginning is he came in with a
I'm going for it at it absolutely the start, and

(12:44):
he's never really Sometimes it don't work and some guys
start to get freaked out a little bit, you know.
And as I told this, I've said this on the
show Sean and Roy a couple of times. The only
time he never went for it, and it would have
been the all time play was when they tied up
the Chiefs and the suit for ball. The next place
should have been an on side kick because Kansas City
was going to score under any circumstances there.

Speaker 3 (13:06):
They were never going to stop them.

Speaker 2 (13:08):
So let him. If somehow you get the ball, great,
you win. If you don't, they score fast. The only
time I had a I mean, that's the next level
thought it's a very But at the moment I remember
texting back, I said.

Speaker 3 (13:20):
Yeah, because you could.

Speaker 2 (13:21):
It was one of those games where you knew whoever
had the ball Lands was gonna win. The only what
time the Cleveland game last year? I hated that.

Speaker 3 (13:29):
I hated it.

Speaker 5 (13:30):
I hate you beat Cleveland by like three at home,
You're going join with the fan your kids. I think
somebody talked to him. I think somebody big.

Speaker 2 (13:39):
Dom he might have who knows, it might have been
Big Tom actually runs. Yes, after that runs, he still hasn't.
That's when they went back.

Speaker 3 (13:51):
Yeah, got that's true.

Speaker 2 (13:55):
I mean, you don't think this is what happened. I
could have bigm is in front of the camera. Is
they grew up a little bit. Nick still got that
high school Howry stuff in.

Speaker 5 (14:07):
Him, and the guys play for him, Like isn't that
the most important thing a coach can do. The Chiefs
play for Andy Reid whatever, and then look, they played
for him here too, So I'm not you know Andy,
it's it's not like Andy just got older. He grew
he and he's got Patrick Mahomes help, which makes a
difference very but whatever Nick's doing it what they won sixteen,

(14:28):
and they probably should have won seventeen to seventeen. They
probably shouldn't have lost the Washington game, right, if catches
that ball, they win that game.

Speaker 3 (14:37):
That's true too. Yeah, if Barkley catches the ball against.

Speaker 2 (14:41):
That's how close they were, like, and they would have
went and they almost lost the Rams game the same way,
but they would have went down as one of the
great teams and they still do.

Speaker 3 (14:50):
Absolutely.

Speaker 2 (14:51):
It's I think they are one of the great teams
that say they probably are.

Speaker 3 (14:54):
I mean, when you go in and beat.

Speaker 2 (14:55):
The two time defending champion and laid him thirty four
and just make them quick, that's pretty damn impressed.

Speaker 3 (15:03):
Apparently I haven't watched it, and you know, we're.

Speaker 8 (15:05):
Just saturated with all these documentaries these days, but there
is a new Kansas City Chief documentary. Watched three episodes,
so apparently the super Bowl episode. I haven't seen it yet,
but a friend of mine was home. He said it
was like the worst moment of his life. Yeah, and
then they were really cocky. They did not believe they
were losing.

Speaker 3 (15:23):
Of course.

Speaker 2 (15:23):
I mean, yeah, they they won every close game for
years and years. Yeah, it wasn't a close game. Well,
that's what I kept trying to tell you. You have
to telling me Kansas City's gonna win.

Speaker 5 (15:36):
I took them because they had won six straight and
I had him in all six of the playoff games,
and they were underdogs.

Speaker 3 (15:41):
And I said underdogs all those.

Speaker 5 (15:44):
Games they were winning the last two years in the
playoffs against Baltimore.

Speaker 2 (15:48):
Guys, they were under dogs Baltimore, and they were they
were there was a game last year.

Speaker 8 (15:52):
They were when the Buffalo Buffalo at home to City.

Speaker 3 (15:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (15:56):
Yeah, but I'm just saying, is all the.

Speaker 5 (15:58):
They were all evening. You try to paint, you try
to repaint history. You guys were right about the Super Bowl.
I'll go pull up that show. I didn't see it.

Speaker 2 (16:07):
I didn't see it coming.

Speaker 5 (16:09):
But the Eagles that day were not and their defense
it had the offense was the offense. It was the
defense won to get Paul gave them two touchdowns. They
ran back and then Game one and Kansas City the
two Super Bowls, Kansas City lost their offensive line com
block us and that's the way to be. That's the
way to beat Patrick Mahomes because otherwise I.

Speaker 3 (16:31):
Forget it is that good? It's called The Kingdom.

Speaker 2 (16:34):
It's actually directed by Krista Lapis, Steve Lapis's daughter. Really
and you noticed not a lot of ESPN documentary study
is as good?

Speaker 3 (16:42):
Is it worth? I watched the first three I thought
it was good. I haven't watched the Super Bowl episode.

Speaker 2 (16:46):
You have been about their whole season last year. It's
now it's like the history of the Chiefs, but were
focused on the Andy Reid stash Patrick Mahomes era, Jason
Kelsey and that crab. So yeah, I mean, I didn't
want to great status. They've been to five of the
last six for the Super Bowls and basically Burrows beat

(17:07):
him the one year and should have probably beat him
the year after that, but they they lost the game
because of the penalty and all that kind of crime.
Five of six. They're kind of the Patriots after the Patriots. Now,
whether they can sustain all the way to winning six
of them.

Speaker 5 (17:21):
My Homes is gonna play for twenty years for one team,
and you know what, the Eagles have a chance. Maybe
not have to be five, but the Eagles have a
chance to beat out in the nfcit they really do.
And their guys are signed. Their quarterback is young, relatively young.
I mean he's not young anymore.

Speaker 2 (17:38):
I mean, if they can fix the defense a little bit,
and I'll tell you what defense is number one last.

Speaker 5 (17:45):
Yeah, but they're replacing like five or six guys. They
need a cornerback and need a safety. But again, Jalen
Carter could be one of the best players in the NFL.

Speaker 8 (17:53):
Number forty three Defensive Player of the Year, forty three
on the list twenty two to one have that play
Defense Player to the.

Speaker 3 (18:00):
Year, John Carter, get behind it. Yeah, twenty two to
one day. I thought that the linebacker could have won.

Speaker 2 (18:07):
Zach Bond, You know what, he's probably on this list
some damn where too. I didn't even think of him.

Speaker 3 (18:12):
He's he's got to be in the top hundred list.
I do think there's nowhere yet.

Speaker 5 (18:16):
Yeah, I'll bet you one of those guys don't make it,
you're gonna sit here next week.

Speaker 2 (18:20):
Maybe maybe DeVante doesn't make it.

Speaker 5 (18:21):
Maybe I was thinking Devonte, but maybe the linebacker not
the top hundred.

Speaker 2 (18:25):
Yeah, we'll say that seems incredible to me coming off
the year. Let's just say all the guys I mentioned
make it seven Dickerson, Johnson, brown Smith and my Lotta.

Speaker 3 (18:36):
Now that's seven of their eleven offensive guys.

Speaker 2 (18:40):
Since there's so what is there thirty teams times fifty,
there's fifteen hundred players, and out of the out of
the top one hundred, seven of them potentially could be
on their offense. I think Calle is insane. I think
Cali's got them all signed.

Speaker 3 (18:53):
I mean, they're all too completely crazy.

Speaker 8 (18:57):
Well, so we're up to thirty one right now, Dick Yeah,
thirty one through one hundred.

Speaker 2 (19:00):
The Eagles have four unless I miss somebody Jaalen Carter
forty three, Quinnon Metro forty nine, Cooper Jeane sixty, Jordan
my lot of sixty.

Speaker 3 (19:09):
Howbout Cooper making that lest.

Speaker 5 (19:12):
We could almost make a point for him being ahead
of a cornerback.

Speaker 3 (19:15):
I think the cornerback's better. I think he's the chosen one.

Speaker 2 (19:17):
Cooper is maybe the most back. Which one is the
chosen one?

Speaker 3 (19:20):
I think Cooper did use the chosen one.

Speaker 2 (19:22):
No, when he came into the lineup last year in
the fourth or fifteen, it did.

Speaker 3 (19:26):
And Carter is going to be the star. I mean,
there's no twenty two to one.

Speaker 8 (19:31):
Twenty two to one, can you I'm gonna go get
over to bet parts of that many?

Speaker 2 (19:36):
How many guys ahead of him, like five or six?

Speaker 3 (19:38):
Yeah, there's probably right around that number, I would assume. Yeah,
it's a nice number.

Speaker 5 (19:41):
Who won the defensive player who beat Bawn last year?
I'm trying to remember now, but I can't.

Speaker 8 (19:47):
Defensive Player of the Year last year went to Why
am I drawing a blank on that rock?

Speaker 7 (19:54):
There?

Speaker 6 (19:54):
It is?

Speaker 2 (19:54):
Yeah? Did bomb finish second?

Speaker 3 (19:56):
I was up there?

Speaker 2 (19:57):
He was in the hunt. Yeah for sure. I mean
he had and he got like a year like unreal.
Yet can he go from nobody knows who he is
to the top one hundred We'll.

Speaker 3 (20:07):
Find out, yep, I would think.

Speaker 2 (20:09):
But again, there's thirty more to go, by the way,
almost fifth.

Speaker 3 (20:13):
Fifth. Do you think he thinks? How could he be fifth?
You know about one more note?

Speaker 8 (20:21):
Well, that always comes back to that one more note
on Cooper de Gene and I try not to get
caught up into stuff, but it is significant. Again, this
kid busts on the scene. He plays the cornerback position.
He's a punt returner, and that's in its own story.
We don't know if we want him back there. But
he goes to these home run derbys, wins them. They
go to the Polestra. He won the three point shooting

(20:43):
contest with the Eagles.

Speaker 3 (20:45):
He threw a dunk like this kid is literally the
chosen one.

Speaker 7 (20:49):
He is.

Speaker 2 (20:50):
Yeah, think about this. You got them both in the draft,
same draft.

Speaker 5 (20:54):
Unbelieved they were thinking about taking the gene and if
that guy had been off the board, he had been going. Yeah,
because they didn't trade off, and how he took a risk.
But I think the reason he took the risk. Was
he though, we don't get him, we're gonna get Cooper.
We're gonna get one of them.

Speaker 2 (21:09):
They got the other guy in the second round. I mean,
you are you kidding me? Changed the super Bowl like
in one one moment that blew the game. Oh yeah,
that was it. How how he's been bad? Had the
interception like three plays later that that set up place.

Speaker 8 (21:26):
Look at this year with with Campbell in the draft.
He was so ecstatic about getting him then too, So
it's like he's been getting.

Speaker 5 (21:32):
But that's that was different a little bit because it
was like Dickerson, he was hurt so people. He kind
of felt like n Kobe Dean, I get on Cooper,
those two guys he got.

Speaker 3 (21:42):
I don't think they were hurt. I don't think they
was my guy.

Speaker 5 (21:44):
I got a friend that lives in Toledo and he
kept telling me, Mike, this kid's now's the Mac. You know,
so everything he said, he's really got him.

Speaker 3 (21:52):
Who caught him? Who caught a pass against him?

Speaker 2 (21:54):
And the Mac? Ever he ever give up a completion
A good point question? They probably never threw it on
his side of the field. It's like I forgot I
can only imagine. I mean, well, you said you see
some big ten foot I mean it was Cooper Dezine.

Speaker 3 (22:10):
He was awesome and he was everybody.

Speaker 2 (22:12):
Steve jonesh does play by play for pett State, told
me about him when the Eagles. Is he the guy
to return that punch for a touchdown that didn't count?

Speaker 3 (22:18):
They got nullified because he said he called for a
fair captain?

Speaker 2 (22:22):
That was it was?

Speaker 3 (22:23):
I thought it was. But I was a athlete.

Speaker 2 (22:26):
I mean you've seen the tape up and playing hoops,
dunking the ball over a sad sack high school.

Speaker 5 (22:30):
How he had three bad years after the first Super Bowl? Right,
I mean he did.

Speaker 2 (22:35):
Bring up the negatives.

Speaker 5 (22:35):
No, but I'm saying his last his last four years
the Super have been like the guys he's gotten his
second round draft picks. He got the center in the
second round, he got the guard and again Dickerson was hurt.
He probably would have been a first round pick. Last
week gets Cooper Dezine in the second. Those three guys,
just those three guys, and I'm probably missing one. Well,

(22:58):
he got jailing in the second. Did I mean, well,
like nobody's had a run like that. I can't believe
in recent NFL history.

Speaker 2 (23:07):
I just I would find watched The Kingdom about the Chiefs,
and you'll see Brett Viach they do well. You used
to work with Andy. He was kind of an He
was an intern with the Andy hired him way back
when he took them with in Kansas City. And he's
the guy and they show the whole thing about Abby.
He was watching them. He was a left tackle for

(23:28):
Texas Tech, and he kept saying, who is this quarterback?

Speaker 3 (23:32):
And he watched him over and over and that was
Patrick thinking about that trade, and that's in the Kingdom.

Speaker 2 (23:37):
It's in there and he and he said to Andy Reid,
I'm watching the best player I have ever seen. And
they moved up seventeen spots number twenty to take Patrick.
And you know what they gave on it's and you'd
have to say it's the greatest tramp pick at that number.

Speaker 3 (23:52):
The only thing quotes would be Tom Brady.

Speaker 2 (23:54):
But that doesn't even cap because that's everybody miss And
they didn't move up to get him. They they they
stayed put it to twenty or whatever the hell number
you went. Think about this. All they gave up.

Speaker 5 (24:04):
Was another first they get, you know, obviously you switch
your your draft picks. I think they gave up a
one the next year, and I'm pretty sure that's it.

Speaker 3 (24:13):
I think it was.

Speaker 2 (24:13):
I think it was the Bears. It was really well
done because Alex Smith was a very good quarter for
them and Andy had completely turned the program around. They
were the worst team in football and they immediately made
the playoffs and they had won a playoff game, and
they said not good enough.

Speaker 3 (24:28):
They said, we're going for it all. And Alex Smith
was great.

Speaker 2 (24:31):
In the documentary, he said he said, I knew as
soon as they picked him, I was done. He played
one more year. Mahams is the backup, and then they
tried to gius his first year. He only played the
one game. They said, but did that was? That was
the idea? But did the rest of the world they.

Speaker 3 (24:48):
Knew they got it right? Yeah they did.

Speaker 2 (24:50):
In college you must have done something.

Speaker 8 (24:53):
There was one game him and Baker Mayfield put up
like a hundred points. That game is absurd, look at
it box score. So he had his moments, and of
course probably for the moments. But I remember that draft
pick going down, and I wasn't the biggest college football
guy in those days, and I was like, all right, yeah,
you know Texas tech flukey offense, you know, sling it.

Speaker 3 (25:14):
That's what a lot of NFL you see.

Speaker 2 (25:16):
Again, if you watch the documentary, a lot of NFL
people were saying, man, he's one of those guys. He
he could be really good, but he could be like
it's not good at all.

Speaker 3 (25:25):
Could be like Williams or whoever.

Speaker 2 (25:28):
You're that's it.

Speaker 3 (25:29):
You're done with him one year under a clown, because I'm.

Speaker 2 (25:32):
Not done with him. But he there's some things he
doesn't do well that they were hard knocks last year.
I remember watching that and I told everybody, I said,
this is a disaster because the coach was a completefone.

Speaker 3 (25:44):
Now he's got an actual hype. Now they got to
think about this.

Speaker 5 (25:47):
Let's say jail And wins two more Super Bowls.

Speaker 3 (25:51):
Let's just say why, which is the next three in
a row?

Speaker 5 (25:55):
I think it's within the realm, it's Philadelphia, So but
again could win. All right, that draft pick at some
point is going to go down now. And I still
say the Eagles never in their wildest dreams.

Speaker 3 (26:07):
They can say all they want. No, they didn't.

Speaker 2 (26:09):
They had just signed Wentz to the contract. They were
taking him. They like backup quarterback, backup quarterbacks exactly, and
it's turned out to be. And even after his second season,
they were looking at quarterbacks. They looked at Deshauan Watson,
They did their due diligence. They were looking around at
people and they and they didn't.

Speaker 3 (26:28):
Yeah, still have to pay the seventy nine.

Speaker 2 (26:32):
Million against the cap or something, and they're starting Kenny Pickett.
Joe Fly Door can't get out of the number four Spagles.

Speaker 3 (26:38):
Playing the Brown.

Speaker 8 (26:39):
They're here today at one o'clock, the next play of
the exhibition season.

Speaker 2 (26:45):
I watched will be there.

Speaker 8 (26:46):
Yeah, it will not be I'll tell you what, guys,
I'm not gonna lie yet. I was going to the
game today to see Door. Of course, I was.

Speaker 2 (26:53):
Going, yeah, and now why would you go?

Speaker 3 (26:55):
Now?

Speaker 2 (26:56):
Yeah, watched him last week? He look good or whatever?

Speaker 5 (26:59):
Really people did The Eagles did not look good apparently
the other day.

Speaker 3 (27:03):
And if you believe that stuff. But again they got
two words. Kenny Pickett.

Speaker 2 (27:11):
The Steelers took him with the twenty second pick in
the draft. To do what, and you know what?

Speaker 3 (27:17):
To do what.

Speaker 2 (27:18):
You may or may not be aware of this. People
listening may not be aware of this. Not only did
they take him with that pick who they passed the
college Pittsburgh trains in the same building as the Steelers,
they share a building, and they still took this.

Speaker 3 (27:32):
Silly What are you doing? Who is running this operation?

Speaker 5 (27:37):
I mean, I don't get and I'm not saying I
don't get the Kenny Pickets in the world. I understand
there have to be Kenny Picketts. Sure they don't have
to be, but they don't have to be the hope
of your franchise.

Speaker 3 (27:49):
Yeah, that's a good point.

Speaker 5 (27:50):
I mean, if she do it, and I look, maybe
she Doer Sanders isn't all that, Maybe he's not cut out,
who knows for whatever reason, but he's got to be
better than Kenny Picket, like, doesn't he.

Speaker 2 (28:01):
I can't understand Joe Flacco. He got him to the
playoffs two years ago. If he's not a real problem
and would have bet the guy that he took in
the third round one.

Speaker 8 (28:11):
Why he's starting today. So we'll see a little bit
of him, a.

Speaker 5 (28:14):
Lot of him because everybody's hurt. He was five my size.
Those guys don't make it in the NFL. They just
don't you know what.

Speaker 2 (28:22):
I mean, You're done with that.

Speaker 5 (28:23):
The one guy, the one guy on the Saints was five.
Drew Brees was like the one great quarterback. He could
make the case for him like five eleven.

Speaker 2 (28:34):
Back in the day.

Speaker 5 (28:35):
Yeah, Joe, he wasn't real tall. It might have been
like six foot or six. I mean, there's some Look,
there's a the guy in Carolina.

Speaker 8 (28:43):
Russells, Russells huge, Kler Murrays.

Speaker 2 (28:48):
I never think of Jaalen as being huge, but I
guess he is because of all the he's strong.

Speaker 5 (28:55):
Oh yeah, definitely, Yeah, Kyler Murray. Here's another guy that
I just don't think. He's got all this town. I
get it. I just don't see him ever taking his
team at in part. That's the franchise. That's another The
two Eagles assistants will be gone.

Speaker 2 (29:09):
That's it. They're both done.

Speaker 5 (29:10):
Oh, the guy in Indian and the guy in Arizona.
I don't think if they survived the season, they'll be
going after the season.

Speaker 2 (29:16):
All right, So the good news is Mike carn has
nineteen more days to get riled up for the Eagles opener. No,
it's college football zero week.

Speaker 3 (29:25):
Week zero week zero zero. The Great Temple, You mess,

Speaker 3 (32:36):
I mean it, it doesn't get any better than this, Johnny,
how are you money?

Speaker 6 (32:40):
Oh, it's a party.

Speaker 9 (32:41):
It's it's almost like it's the last weekend.

Speaker 6 (32:43):
Before football starts. Everybody getting ready.

Speaker 9 (32:46):
Everybody's back umbre vacations, like we're all here.

Speaker 2 (32:49):
That's right. Here's a third string quarterback freezt Carolina John.

Speaker 6 (32:54):
Rahem Jeter.

Speaker 3 (32:57):
Even if we did, if he made it up, we
would know the difference, all right, John.

Speaker 9 (33:02):
No, they actually got a transfer in though, So he's
the backup Mike right. I think his name is than
cant and katten Houser Rahem Jeter, who was like a
third year red shirt like sophomore juniors.

Speaker 2 (33:14):
He's our man. All right, baseball, time for the next
little bit here. Phillies have opened up six games or
a better way to put it with, Mets have fallen
behind six games. They are just I told you in
March they are just pathetic. Mike Current tells us everything,
like six months, bet the Phillies to win the division.
You did, that's true, and then I was their price.
It wasn't real high. I think it was like they

(33:36):
were to favorite. All right, Mets have lost. Mets have
lost fourteen of sixty. Phillies lead by six games. They're
seventy and fifty two. John, so future bet we don't
need to think if you had to pick and you
had some baseball picks from you in a second for
today at bet Parks, give me a World Series winner

(33:57):
to day. Can you do it? Do you have an opinion?

Speaker 6 (34:02):
Oh?

Speaker 9 (34:02):
Man, It's honestly very hard because at the top is Milwaukee,
right And I don't believe for a second that that
lineup right now, I just posted a lot in the
last five games, like that lineup hasn't scored less than
seven runs in the last five. They're on like a
thirteen game winning streak. They have young pitching that is good,

(34:22):
but as we've seen with young pitching when it gets
to the playoffs, sometimes they do kind of fade out.
The amount of innings on their arm definitely wears wears
them down. So I'm just I'm not sure about Milwaukee.
And then you look at like if I were to
say the Phillies, every Phillies fand be like, have you
watched them? Do they even look that great? But I
don't know. We'll get the rest of the National League.

(34:43):
The Dodgers are a game behind the Phillies. The Phillies
have the second best record in the National League, Toronto
and Detroit at the top of the American League. Detroit
in Toronto have both been teams that have not been
very good. Toronto has had more expectations over the last
few years, but they have never been able to put
it together. All of a sudden, it seems like they has,
but is that going to be something that works its

(35:04):
way into the postseasons?

Speaker 6 (35:05):
And well, see with Detroit, a ton of.

Speaker 9 (35:07):
Talent never really was all that good, and now all
that talent got really good all at once. And they
do have a great picture leading the way in Schoogle.
But I just don't I don't trust any of it.
It seems completely wide open. It does, at least for
the National League side of things. I just don't see
why not the Phillies, they have the top end starting
rotation do it. The biggest question right now to me

(35:29):
is ken Zach Wheeler get to the place that he
was earlier this season, or at least in June.

Speaker 6 (35:35):
That is absolutely what they need.

Speaker 9 (35:37):
They're gonna need top end pitching to be top ten pitching.
But other than that, like the Phillies can hit with anyone,
especially with Shorebur and Harper the way that they are.
Harper getting a home run last night was obviously very good.
He's had a little bit of a cold streak, but
it seems like he's getting out of it, and for
the most part.

Speaker 6 (35:54):
Has been pretty good since he's come back from his injuries.

Speaker 9 (35:56):
So it's almost like a line off facilities thing with
the National League just because I just I don't see
anybody else that's all that good in that league.

Speaker 3 (36:04):
So here's how crazy baseball has been this year.

Speaker 2 (36:07):
The Yankees led the American Leagues by seven games on
May twenty eighth. They are now five and a half
behind and a game and a half into the wild
card or.

Speaker 3 (36:17):
Cleveland, which is trying to lose. And that's not all.

Speaker 2 (36:22):
La Dodgers led the NL West on July third by nine.
Now they're tied with San Diego. The Cubs led the
National League Central by six and a half on June seventeenth.

Speaker 3 (36:33):
Now they're nine behind Milwaukee.

Speaker 2 (36:35):
Well, then the Mets lead the Jews at one point.

Speaker 3 (36:37):
I finished, Can I just finished you? You were just
must air up. It's just an outreach.

Speaker 2 (36:46):
Houston led by seven in the National League Central on
July sixth, They now lead by a half a game
American League Central. Excuse me are the Mets? Mike led
by five and a half on June twelfth, and now
trail by six. To your point, they were forty five
and twenty four at one point and gone nineteen and
thirty four since then. That's like Rockies territory. That's pathetic.

(37:09):
Did the Orioles ever lead the East? Well, you just
don't even start with me on the Orioles. By the way,
my man Brandon Young, the Orioles rookie last night, John,
did you see this seven and two thirds perfect game?

Speaker 3 (37:21):
Was the first ever win.

Speaker 9 (37:24):
Yeah, it's good to see some young pitching for the
Orioles do well.

Speaker 2 (37:27):
Yeah, young pitching fields. So unfortunately, all right, John, we
need some games today. What do you got?

Speaker 6 (37:35):
Uh?

Speaker 9 (37:35):
Can we pick on the Mets?

Speaker 3 (37:37):
Is that?

Speaker 6 (37:37):
Is that okay?

Speaker 9 (37:37):
To do?

Speaker 2 (37:38):
Absolute right?

Speaker 3 (37:39):
Everybody else a team of sixteen why not?

Speaker 2 (37:41):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (37:41):
Everybody else is yeah, you might as well join us.

Speaker 9 (37:43):
They have been absolutely awful, one of the worst teams
in baseball for a long.

Speaker 6 (37:49):
Stretch now, and they're going.

Speaker 9 (37:51):
Up against the Mariners, who have been okay this year. Uh,
sixty eight wins, fifty five losses.

Speaker 6 (37:56):
But Brian wu was on the mound. He's the best pitcher.

Speaker 9 (37:59):
He's one of the pictures in the American League.

Speaker 6 (38:02):
Really great.

Speaker 9 (38:02):
If you haven't got a chance to watch Brian move
because I think we've talked about him a bit on
the show and everybody was kind of.

Speaker 6 (38:07):
Like, who is this?

Speaker 9 (38:08):
If you haven't gotten a chance to watch Brian Lou
watch him? Really elected pitcher ten and six three point
zero eight ERA. They're only a short favorite on the
road against the Mets, but the Mets are an absolute
disaster at this point, So I think that that short
money line really speaks to me.

Speaker 2 (38:23):
There for John Shadow minus one fifteen at bet Parks
against the sat that's a four to thirty post time today.

Speaker 9 (38:33):
Yeah, that looks like maybe money coming in trying to
be too smart and too cute and go with the
Mets here. But I really like Seattle with that picking can.

Speaker 2 (38:41):
Lay a run and a half at bet Parks and
Seattle get plus one.

Speaker 6 (38:45):
Yeah, ye, Any.

Speaker 3 (38:47):
Good John the Mets pitcher?

Speaker 6 (38:49):
What's that?

Speaker 5 (38:50):
Nolan McLean's he any good? Or does it not matter
he's the Mets pitcher?

Speaker 7 (38:54):
No?

Speaker 9 (38:54):
I think he seems to be a prospect. Really hasn't
pitched at all, so there's really not much on him.
So maybe that could be the thing, like this guy's
coming up, there's not really much information available on him,
So Seattle just kind of like we do with all
pitchers making their debut, just kind of not knowing what's
happening and not knowing what's coming.

Speaker 2 (39:13):
Yeah. I just looked up Nolan McLain. You said, yes,
is a just relative of John McClain from die Hard.

Speaker 9 (39:19):
Hello, Yeah, nice, the greatest action heroes of all. Yeah.
And I don't know if the hot take, but Diehard with
a Vengeance is the best Diehard. So I just wanted
to make that was thrown out there. Milwaukee Brewers, they
are on a thirteen game winning streak, and why not

(39:40):
if they lose that straight because maybe the Billy can
gain some ground for the tops by the National League,
even though it doesn't look like they will. But let's
just ride the hot hand with Wakeee Brewers pre stro
on the mound for the Brewers eleven and two record
three point four nine ERA. I think that record just
feature itself. Milwaukee's just been winning a ton of games.
Their lineup has been I think the most surprise.

Speaker 6 (40:00):
Part of it. There is not a lot there.

Speaker 9 (40:03):
But they're getting it in some very odd places and
getting it from some very young bats. So the fact
that they are hitting this well right now. It's kind
of surprising to me. But the thing is, you just
take it a phase value. They are hitting extremely well,
so I like the Brewers. That's a pretty short money
line as well. And I think just kind of riding
the hot hand at that point isn't all too bad.

Speaker 2 (40:24):
So let's also, yeah, hang on John minus one twenty
two on the Brewers at bet Parks plus one oh
four if you want to take the Reds. And I've
had a theory and I've never tested this out for
years on baseball betting.

Speaker 3 (40:37):
You start you try to ride winning streaks.

Speaker 2 (40:39):
After a team is one three in a hour or
a loss three in a row, you bet them you
can only lose one. But in Milwaukee's case, you could
now be on a ten game winning street. And if
they win twenty in a row, now you're on a
seventeen game winning street. That's my theory. I have no
idea if it actually works well. You just keep betting them,
just keep betting till they until they look right.

Speaker 9 (40:57):
And yeah, right, I mean you would have been.

Speaker 3 (41:01):
But you would have even gotten.

Speaker 9 (41:05):
If you got on it when it was a five
to seven game winning streak. You are still the last six.

Speaker 3 (41:09):
You know, whatever numbers now, but who cares if you win?

Speaker 6 (41:14):
Yeah, exactly exactly.

Speaker 9 (41:15):
And the thing is, though I don't know, I never see.
There are some big money lines, obviously the Burroughs because
they are winning, but it's not as big. It's not
like a juggernaut like the Dodgers were in previous years
where they were minus two hundred it felt like almost
every game. The Brewers don't get that because they're like
I think most of it is just there's not a
lot of faith in that lineup. I don't think people

(41:35):
think they're a good team. They seem to be gotten
the label of a very lucky team in baseball, which
that happens, and it seems like Milwaukee is one of
those examples. But that that means there's not going to
be a lot of enticement to try and bet Milwaukee
all the time, so their money aren't that big.

Speaker 2 (41:51):
I think to your point, the Dodgers right now are
tied the NNL West and there's still the.

Speaker 3 (41:56):
World Series favorite at three to one.

Speaker 2 (41:58):
Yes, Phillies are next. Yes at bet Parks. Milwaukee is
now up to eight. They were fifteen last week. So
I think people are starting to say whoa, And the
money came in on the Detroit at ten San Diego,
which I think has an awesome lineup.

Speaker 3 (42:12):
I really like their team, their ten.

Speaker 2 (42:14):
Their problem is their San Diego bad things just happened
out there. San Diego's never won a championship in any sport?

Speaker 3 (42:21):
Have they screen clippers? Like I said, I mean, Stenheimer
never won. The old San.

Speaker 2 (42:29):
Diego Chargers won in the AFL. If that comt early sixties.
Seattle's ten to one, Toronto's ten to one, Houston's twelve
to one. San Diego Yankees are alway up to thirteen
to one. They're barely They might not even make a playoff.

Speaker 5 (42:44):
I wouldn't bet the Yankees at thirty three to one.
I would San Diego could be my play Yeah, they're
pretty good and I get still two months to go
Mont in a Hampan Yeah, and they had the Dodgers
down to one later.

Speaker 2 (42:56):
Their bullpen is unbelievable. So if they get you in
a bullpeny game, and you know, and I agree with John,
I think like this could be to your region. Say hey,
why not the Phillies because the thing that scares me
with the Phillies it's not the pitching. I mean, I
know the reliever got his foot bang less unbelievable. Yeah,
by the way, x Ray's negative Duran, But we don't

(43:17):
know exactly stares.

Speaker 5 (43:21):
They just scares you with the Phillies because they're hitting
of because we've seen it.

Speaker 2 (43:25):
And John just talked about the way. How about the
two games before last night they not good? Dude, squat
tolah about my man Casi he's on a roll?

Speaker 3 (43:33):
Oh my god, was he one for?

Speaker 4 (43:35):
Like?

Speaker 6 (43:36):
Is he on this team that just drop him in?
Like the Yankees?

Speaker 7 (43:39):
Up?

Speaker 3 (43:41):
John? And what else you got for? What other games
you got?

Speaker 9 (43:45):
I am also so you you mentioned San Diego. And
one thing that kind of that that I don't necessarily
love with them is starting pitching they are getting. They
are getting one pitcher playing way above his head and
it is a former friend of Phillip Elfia, Nick Pavetta,
who is extremely well but like if he's the one
leading away, like I don't know, he might be their

(44:07):
game one starter like Dylan Seats and you Darvish. Obviously
here are bigger names, but right now the best pitcher
that they have is Nick Povetta. King has also been
pitching really well. Yeah, but but Pavetta has been one
of the best, and like I think he's he might
get a Game one or Game two nod But right
now Dylan Teach is gonna be on the mound today.
Don't love the way he's pitched to five and ten
record Dodgers A little bit of a short favorite these

(44:30):
are This is a huge game Dodgers at home. That
I really like Blake Snell two point three seven e RA,
but I'm not going to take too much away from that.
He hasn't pitched all that much this season. And one
thing that concerns me is.

Speaker 6 (44:41):
The whip at one point five to three is very
very high, so.

Speaker 9 (44:44):
That two point three seven e RA is kind of
a bit misleading, but I think it's It's pretty much
an even pitching matchup. But I'm at least gonna get
the team at home.

Speaker 6 (44:52):
And Dodgers a little desperate.

Speaker 9 (44:55):
Maybe this is a big series for them, So I
just I like the pitching matchup here and I like
the Dodgers at home.

Speaker 2 (45:01):
All right? Uh? You going with baseball now? You want
you want to go onto wee as Mike Current?

Speaker 9 (45:07):
Oh oh yeah we can because we zero has one
of the more like interesting matchups in college football.

Speaker 2 (45:16):
What was it Farmageddon?

Speaker 4 (45:18):
Right?

Speaker 3 (45:19):
What a name?

Speaker 2 (45:20):
What a name? Kansas State, Iowa State. We're talking serious
amounts of Corn uh, Dublin, Ireland. John. Who do we
like in this contest? Week zero? Yeah?

Speaker 9 (45:32):
These are these are two teams that have always kind
of you know, hung around the top of the Big Twelve,
and these are maybe two of the better quarterbacks in
that conference, Avery Johnson and Kansas State rob O Beck,
who is not only getting a lot of hype just
in the college football season this year, there's like NFL
stuff with him, like Robert.

Speaker 8 (45:51):
That's why he's John Chandsen, we just ran actually has
that should be great to get him on the station
a little more.

Speaker 6 (45:58):
Yeah, John, Yeah, evy great?

Speaker 9 (46:01):
H Well Villanova football, Fox Sports Radio Philadelphia.

Speaker 2 (46:04):
John, you can hear me?

Speaker 3 (46:06):
Who makes the Big Twelve title game?

Speaker 2 (46:08):
Right? I mean these two teams are years I don't game.

Speaker 9 (46:12):
Yeah, right, because these are these are maybe the two
best teams, uh in the Big Twelve. Especially like when
you have two quarterbacks like that, the way that they
have that that really does like put some intrigue in
them for the conference because a lot of teams are
gonna take a step back. I have no idea what
Utah is going to be this year. Utah is always
good with Caylevineham, but there's been a lot of change

(46:34):
over in quarterback, like Cam.

Speaker 6 (46:35):
Rising got hurt and he had to retire.

Speaker 9 (46:39):
Actually, so Utah is been kind of a weird place,
even though they are still going to be okay. Really,
it's just it's Ioway State in Kansas City. I actually
like the Cyclones, though I think Beck has proven a
little bit more to be in Matt Campbell. Uh, there
there have been sometimes where I don't know if he's
the best coach, and sometimes I question whether or not
he can develop quarterbacks. But like he did a pretty
good good job with Brock pretty back in the day,

(47:01):
and now he's doing a pretty.

Speaker 6 (47:02):
Good job with Rocko Beck.

Speaker 9 (47:03):
So I think right now Matt Campbell just has it
kind of figured out with these guys.

Speaker 2 (47:06):
First eleven win season in Iowa State history, and they
lost I guess to Arizona State in the Big twelve title.

Speaker 6 (47:11):
Game, right, yes, yes, Arizona State.

Speaker 3 (47:16):
Yeah they did.

Speaker 2 (47:19):
I'm guessing they were in They couldn't stop Cam Skataboo, right,
So Iowa stake down three and a half in Dublin.
So you leaned to the Cyclones.

Speaker 9 (47:27):
Here, Yes, I do lean the Cyclones and Arizona State
to right the elevens. But like, if you want to
really see, I think the two teams that could be
at the top, Like there's some some other ones like
b YU they have a quarterback problem, but uh, they
were pretty good.

Speaker 6 (47:42):
Heading into the year.

Speaker 9 (47:43):
But really it's just it's Iowa State in Kansas State.
Like Arizona State lost Campskataboo, which is a big deal.

Speaker 6 (47:47):
They've lost some other weapons on offense. It's really at
the Sam Levitt and like he's really got a to
put on a show here.

Speaker 9 (47:55):
But I think for for really the two best quarterbacks
in the league are going to be Rocko back to
Avery Johnson, and the two best teams are probably Iowa
State in Kansas Titate.

Speaker 2 (48:02):
But I'm gonna go to Cyclones of Cyclone, so that
game will be in Washington State. In that league, they're
not they're in the pack two Pick two, Pack two.
It'll be if they'll be back to the packs. Who
do you like in the package?

Speaker 9 (48:14):
There is no bias that there's a East Carolina wide
receivers transfer now in Iowa State.

Speaker 2 (48:21):
What could be better than that?

Speaker 3 (48:22):
So the other week zero game of interest for somebody
I don't know who. Uh, Stanford is at Hawaii getting
two is a big game deck.

Speaker 2 (48:31):
It is so Stanford plays games in Hawaii this year,
and I assume they're in Florida. I play Florida State
or Miami.

Speaker 5 (48:37):
That might not even be their longest road trip. Me you,
what is going on here in college? Frank Frank right, yeah,
there the but there If they're getting two in Hawaii's
not This is a heavily bet game deck. This is
a big bet game.

Speaker 2 (48:53):
No doubt. John John ap Top twenty five, com down
up twenty five. He never lets me talk. That's awesome.

Speaker 3 (49:02):
That might be the line of the year right there.
That is legendary.

Speaker 2 (49:06):
We have the eightp Top twenty five out Mike Kurr
Texas twenty five first place votes, Penn State twenty three,
five point difference.

Speaker 3 (49:14):
Fifteen fifty two to fifteen forty seven.

Speaker 2 (49:18):
Then Ohio State with eleven first, Clemson with four, Georgia one,
Oregon one, Notre Dame is six, Georgia five, Clemson four,
Ohio State three. Interestingly, However, at bet Parks, Ohio State
is the favorite to win it all at five to one,
then Penn State at six, Texas at six and a half, Alabama,

(49:38):
and Georgia at eight. Notre Dame in Iowa state, Ohio
State repeating Clemson in eleven. Illinois is ranked twelve in
the country. They are two hundred to one to win
the title. Like that, they might not make the ten title.
That's the problem. Boise State two fifty. Dion without his
sons is five hundred to one to win it all.

(50:00):
Could be five million, Temple five million.

Speaker 6 (50:04):
Temple five thousand.

Speaker 3 (50:09):
I'll give you a dollar, John in Oklahoma.

Speaker 9 (50:11):
You know those odds are gonna.

Speaker 2 (50:14):
Order's John, give me give me a winner. Uh right now?
Week minus one College Football.

Speaker 9 (50:24):
Yeah, So, like I am, I'm infatuated with Texas just
because of Arch Manning, Like I think he is going
to It's it's almost like and I know Sean Brace
is gonna hear this name and be like, of course
this guy's talking about Tremor Lawrence.

Speaker 6 (50:36):
But it never reminds me of that.

Speaker 9 (50:37):
Like everybody just kind of questions, like this blue chip
prospect that is coming in without a lot of experience,
but then they end up winning a national championship. Clemson
to that in Larns. This freshman year, arch Manning is
two years.

Speaker 6 (50:48):
Under his belt.

Speaker 9 (50:49):
Uh, he understands this offense he has developed. They have
talked about his growth not only physically but mentally as
a quarterback, and we've we've seen him play or throw
ninety passes and all of them look pretty good.

Speaker 6 (51:00):
Good.

Speaker 9 (51:00):
So yeah, it's just a lot of questioning about a
young quarterback and maybe a young offensive line that lost
a lot of pieces as well. But Sarka has done
a great job recruiting. So I love everything with Texas.
They're going to have an explosive offense. I think they
beat Ohio State in Week one, so I know that's
one of the big marque games for a Week one
and could maybe determine which one of these teams really
does make a run, because I think one of them

(51:21):
if things go wrong, like one of them could be
left out, and to me, that's really Ohio State, but
one team I absolutely love though. Speaking of Clemson, what
made comes in good, especially when they won national championships.
They had really solid quarterback play, They had amazing wide
receivers which they had previously. They used to be called
wide receiver ye before LSU, and then also defensive line.

Speaker 6 (51:44):
They have all of that this.

Speaker 9 (51:46):
Year for the first time in a very very long time,
probably since Lawrence's freshman year and the end of DeShawn
Watson's tenure in Clemson. Like they actually have a really
really good wide receiver group, so that is some that
has been kind of missing from them. Their offense has
not been explosive, but now they have wide receivers. They
have really solid quarterback playing Kate Klubnick is a lot

(52:09):
of people's favorite to maybe win the Heisman, and then
they have always had this, but it's.

Speaker 6 (52:13):
Even better this year.

Speaker 9 (52:14):
They have two like first round studs on the defensive
line and a really good linebacker group to go with it,
and even just as good secondary. So Clenslan might have
one of the best defenses in college football, but the
offense has really been the one.

Speaker 6 (52:28):
That has to match it.

Speaker 9 (52:29):
And it seems like finally, for the first time in
a very long time, that Dabosweeney kind of has it.
So I'm kind of taking my shot here with Clemson
as a.

Speaker 6 (52:40):
Contender and can do it.

Speaker 5 (52:41):
That's the team I was kind of looking at too,
only because they play in the ACC and it might
be a little But the thing with Texas and I
think there's like four or five teams you can make
a case for. I don't think Ohio State's going to
repeat because I just think it's really hard quarterback and
that and the wide receivers. The wide receivers greatness.

Speaker 2 (53:00):
But I think Penn State it wasn't.

Speaker 6 (53:04):
It wasn't also losing, which is a big deal too.

Speaker 5 (53:07):
So if it wasn't for fact that they got to
go to Ohio State, which is for them, is hard.
I think Penn State is probably going to at least
be in the quarterfinals.

Speaker 3 (53:18):
Could we could we say.

Speaker 2 (53:19):
That and they got talent, but Texas what's going to
carry Texas?

Speaker 5 (53:25):
And I know Arches Their defense is tremendous. Archer is
going to get all the I get. It'll throw four
touchdowns and people. Their defense has like like NFL players
all over the place, And to me, that's where you
win in college football. I know LSU did it with
the greatest offense that we've seen probably since Penn State's
ninety fourteen. But man, if you have a defense, you

(53:47):
know Ohio State had defense last year, and you know,
and they just got out in front of teams and
that was it.

Speaker 2 (53:52):
Texas getting three as the number one. You never say that.

Speaker 9 (53:58):
And can I give it a sleeper team?

Speaker 6 (54:00):
Is Alabama a sweeper team? Maybe this year?

Speaker 9 (54:02):
We're not talking about the Crimson Tide enough.

Speaker 6 (54:05):
Kaylin de Boor's second year.

Speaker 9 (54:07):
They may have a great defense, but really, you know,
it seems.

Speaker 6 (54:09):
Like a bit of a throwback on offense.

Speaker 9 (54:11):
Like they obviously to have Ryan Williams is gonna be
like Jarreon Meismith, one of the best wide receivers in
the country, but with since some kind of under center.
Now this this could maybe be a bit of a
throwback for Alabama, Like they.

Speaker 6 (54:22):
Could be running the ball a lot more.

Speaker 9 (54:23):
They have one of the best wider running back groups
in the country and so they could probably work off
of that. I know, the Boar kind of has it
like run and shoot offense. It's very much like a
vertical offense that always has been even with Washington and
Michael Pennix it was, and with Jaln Milroe it kind
of was a little bit. But now I think they
can go maybe a bit old school run the Baltimore.
You have a great offensive line, an excellent running back group,

(54:45):
work off of play action. This could be like a
kind of an old school Alabama team like we used
to see with like a Greg.

Speaker 6 (54:51):
McLeroy or even a Max Jones.

Speaker 9 (54:54):
It feels like that kind of team. So Alabama kind
of everything falls in place here and the team like
we've seen them take before to a national championship.

Speaker 6 (55:02):
Which is the big difference is the coach.

Speaker 9 (55:04):
But they're very good.

Speaker 2 (55:06):
Texas six and a half to one, Alabama eight, Clemson eleven.

Speaker 3 (55:09):
Those are John's three. You know what comes in to
be back? Hang on a second.

Speaker 2 (55:12):
Five. We'll be back to debate Penn State after the
break without you, John, because you're out of here.

Speaker 3 (55:18):
We've had enough of you for one day.

Speaker 9 (55:20):
Oh yeah, that's enough of me. Thanks guys. College football
next week. The next time we talk there will be
college football games.

Speaker 2 (55:26):

New Jersey or Maryland gambling problem one eight hundred gambler
after Mike on golf, which is coming right up. I
think we're gonna delve heavily into Penn State. Sean. I
know you're gonna be up there for the falling over
game with the station, and we're gonna say, is this real?
It's been a long time since they've been there, uh
about twenty years since they They were ranked third at

(58:18):
the end of the in two thousand and five seasons.
But first, it's golf. Bmw k's Valley Owings Mills, Maryland,
Mike Kern, what do we got?

Speaker 3 (58:27):
This is really easy?

Speaker 9 (58:28):
All right?

Speaker 2 (58:29):
But first of all, first let's go back a week.
Let's go back away poor Tommy Fleetwood, second time in
the back.

Speaker 5 (58:36):
But the boy, your boy had Justin Rose.

Speaker 2 (58:39):
Yes, ten to one, Yes he did. Yeah, how Tommy,
can we replay the tape? I'm not sure I remember
that you had Justin Rose.

Speaker 5 (58:49):
Yeah, you picked I could take Tommy because he was
like even money you picked.

Speaker 3 (58:54):
Yes, nice, Kyle generals.

Speaker 2 (59:00):
I trust you.

Speaker 3 (59:00):
Anyway, Mike is great on golf.

Speaker 5 (59:02):
Listen poor Tommy Fleetwood though, because you're still looking for
that first.

Speaker 3 (59:06):
So anyway, PJ.

Speaker 5 (59:07):
Have Robert McIntyre, who is fourteen on them, and he's
a good golfer.

Speaker 3 (59:11):
I mean he's legit, lefty lefty.

Speaker 5 (59:14):
Scotty's second five back Ludwig Ludwig ber eight back, oh Burt.

Speaker 3 (59:21):
I mean he's six back yea.

Speaker 2 (59:23):
Then you have much yeah matchiama seven and Fleetwood is six.
There's nobody else you're even considering the done. Well, here's
the problem. Not only do you have to catch McIntyre,
you have to catch Scheffley exactly. So yeah, and the
odds reflect that, and it's interesting. So McIntire's plus one
twenty Scotty's plus one forty.

Speaker 5 (59:44):
Wow shots, Well, how can you bet Scott over McIntire.
You're going to take McIntyre because you're getting five shots, sure,
but he and I have Ludvig in my This is
the last tournament in our season long pool.

Speaker 3 (59:59):
We don't count next week.

Speaker 5 (01:00:00):
So I'm rooting for him, which probably means he'll shoot
seventy six seventy six for the weekend. But he's ten
to one. He's the only other player. I mean, Fleetwood's thirty.
He's got to make up eight. Not saying you can't,
but my bet would you take Ludwig because he's the
only But.

Speaker 2 (01:00:17):
Again, McIntyre, you're getting five shots. I don't like.

Speaker 5 (01:00:22):
I never bet guys that are but the guys, why
would you bet Scott's got five?

Speaker 2 (01:00:26):
Because he's Scott, He's got get I get it.

Speaker 5 (01:00:29):
And next week they'll be in Atlanta, Patre and I'm
assuming I don't know, and Rory's actually Rory's actually not
playing horribly.

Speaker 2 (01:00:36):
He's playing for next week.

Speaker 5 (01:00:39):
Let's be honest, all things being right, Scott he's the
favorite next week.

Speaker 3 (01:00:44):
I don't know what he's going to do next week.

Speaker 2 (01:00:47):
So I bet this step Scheffler now has fifteen I
saw this consecutive sub seventies.

Speaker 3 (01:00:54):
Oh I didn't see that.

Speaker 2 (01:00:55):
All in the sixties. Fifteen consecutive rounds. That's insane. How
about this one that's he's got fifty nine bogeless rounds.
The next guy is forty one, which forty one to.

Speaker 3 (01:01:07):
Me is tremendous talking about during the season, during.

Speaker 5 (01:01:10):
The PGA Tour season, he's got fifty nine rounds where
he did not make a bogie.

Speaker 2 (01:01:15):
How is that possible? Mike? Four years ago, DMW was
in Caves Valve. There was a six hole playoff. Oh
who was in it? Can't lay in Dishambo, that is
so good and de Shambo won. No, can't lay on, No.

Speaker 5 (01:01:30):
Chrise can't they kept making that's right, No, No, Chris
can't kept making fifty foot putts. Yes he did, and
De Shamba just kept like looking at him like what
are you doing?

Speaker 8 (01:01:37):
Deshambo is also ninety pounds lighter. I saw the replay
the other day. I could not believe. Yeah, a different
get four years ago, same venue.

Speaker 9 (01:01:46):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:01:47):
Maybe I have a playoff tomorrow. Is that when he
make I thought he won the US Open in twenty
two and he had muscled off.

Speaker 3 (01:01:53):
Muscled out. Yeah, yeah, he's on the ju whatever he's on.
I used to not I used to knock my I
didn't mean to say that.

Speaker 5 (01:02:01):
I used to not like the Shambau because I thought
when he won that US Open, if it's a COVID year,
I think, and he was kind of an idiot, you know,
he was like, you know, doing what he's his man.
But now he's like he's likable and and he and
he's changed. And when he beat Wory last year, I
thought what he did at Pinehurst when he went around
with the fans, and he's just become a guy that

(01:02:23):
you can kind of get behind, which.

Speaker 2 (01:02:25):
Is if you better, but if you don't. But I'm
saying from a fans, forget the fans. All that matters
is what'snest in the sports book, but everything else.

Speaker 5 (01:02:35):
That's why I took I like Justin Rose because I've
always thought it has something to do with him winning
and marry and I'm sure, but.

Speaker 2 (01:02:42):
He's just a class guy. When he won last week,
I was forty five years old. Now, I mean, not
many guys win it that age. That was a great
finish against the US Open champions. Yeah, all overtime. Yeah,
it was good stuff, all right. Sean, Uh yeah, second fella,
And I was second week of the season, third and
Fair State, third week week, Penn State. Correct, you'll be
up there with the show. Tell us what's going on

(01:03:04):
up in state College.

Speaker 8 (01:03:05):
We're getting cats crazy because it is a Playfly Sports
handles all the broadcasting for both Villanova and Penn State,
so they're both Playfly properties. So they're rolling out the
red carpet, going to do it really big. And of
course it's a huge deal for Villanova going out there
with all the expectations of Penn State. So we are

(01:03:26):
rolling up r V style, a couple of people from
the Gambler gang, myself, I'm going live from Field Burger
and Tap.

Speaker 3 (01:03:36):
Oh yeah, I know it.

Speaker 8 (01:03:37):
Okay, Well, I will be live there three to six
on Friday and then bright and early Saturday morning.

Speaker 3 (01:03:43):
We're gonna behave. We are going to behave Friday night.

Speaker 2 (01:03:48):
We are.

Speaker 3 (01:03:48):
I didn't say that, Dick, I said we are going
to behave.

Speaker 2 (01:03:55):
Early.

Speaker 3 (01:03:59):
I'm too I'm the way too old for that, Mike,
I'm way too old for that.

Speaker 8 (01:04:02):
Anyways, we'll be live from twelve to three, handing things
off to the great Ryan Fanning on the call, and
of course Villanova Penn State can be heard right here
on the Gambler and it's gonna be a huge, huge
season for us.

Speaker 3 (01:04:14):
Can't wait. And of course basketball right around the corner.

Speaker 2 (01:04:16):
Christer Kelly's still doing the analys in the Annalyser.

Speaker 3 (01:04:20):
Who's the Ryan's up.

Speaker 8 (01:04:22):
So we're switching it up this year, and they are
pulling in a couple of different former players, including Matt Caesar.

Speaker 3 (01:04:31):
Yes, Steve Panon's doing all away games with Ryan and Ryan.

Speaker 8 (01:04:35):
But there's a couple other players, former players, former quarterbacks.
I apologize. Who's the LaSalle head coach Brett Gordon? Thank you,
He'll be in the Booth's great. It's going to be an.

Speaker 3 (01:04:47):
Awesome season of Villanos football, of course. Coach Frannie a
big deal.

Speaker 8 (01:04:50):
And just to let you know, Tuesday, they're live in
Ocean City, New Jersey doing the practice.

Speaker 3 (01:04:54):
Will be down there as well.

Speaker 2 (01:04:55):
This is our last year in the CIA. We're going
to the Patriot League next year. The landscapes is changing
a little bit.

Speaker 8 (01:05:03):
Yeah yeah, new athletic director, new vibe up there.

Speaker 5 (01:05:06):
So it's one of one of my great moments. Chattanooga
two thousand and nine National tuddle.

Speaker 2 (01:05:12):
It was.

Speaker 3 (01:05:13):
It was really cool. Was the first national.

Speaker 5 (01:05:16):
Title I I can remember I could. And then Villanova
of course in sixteen was that was pretty cool too.

Speaker 8 (01:05:22):
They're always in the running, that that football program. It's
always in the running yea. And most of the time
they end up losing to a team from Dakota, either
North or South at.

Speaker 2 (01:05:30):
Dakota, at Data Dakota on a on a referee flag
in the final period or where we swind ripping so
the field burger a tap for sean third week of
the season.

Speaker 3 (01:05:41):
That's at Top Trees. That's the golf course, it's right
outside of.

Speaker 2 (01:05:46):
It's a cool spot at the basketball coaches show after
there for that many times football coaches showed is at
the field Burger and Tap. I know the guy that
runs the hotel there.

Speaker 3 (01:05:55):
So you will be in good hands. I promise you.
Behaving Friday night?

Speaker 2 (01:06:00):
All right?

Speaker 3 (01:06:01):
Wild dogs on Saturday.

Speaker 5 (01:06:02):
I want an all night or I'm telling you, I
just want you to be up all night. And but
do we have a noon game?

Speaker 3 (01:06:08):
What time is this guy is a three thirty kickoffs?

Speaker 2 (01:06:10):
All right, well let's find this so the students have
more than enough time to get ready.

Speaker 3 (01:06:15):
That's right, is what you're saying. That's right.

Speaker 8 (01:06:16):
And in the.

Speaker 2 (01:06:16):
Darkness will be and at that time of year, we're
not going to be dark. Maybe if it goes a
long time and don't know, we'll be getting how many
points at bet Park? I would assume thirty, no.

Speaker 8 (01:06:31):
Forty that I was going high thirties, Yes, yes, I
was going high thirties, said thirty seven, thirty eight, But
you think forty.

Speaker 3 (01:06:40):
I'm going to say, Bryan west Fork is not suiting
up for the while.

Speaker 2 (01:06:43):
And even if he was, would be twenty eight long Well,
Holly am I man, yeah, I'll stay between forty forty five.
I'll take the Cats. They might I like it cover
the spread. They might play their starters to one half.
What else is relevant? All right, So let's talk bench
State football ranked number two at eight page, just really

(01:07:04):
close behind number one, and if Texas loses to Ohio State,
they'll be number one.

Speaker 3 (01:07:07):
Well o, Hio State could leave frog them.

Speaker 2 (01:07:09):
That the good point, Mike, that's a record high State
shouldn't leave program if they'd be Texas because there, Yeah,
but State still be two and two. What let me
start over, Let me start over here, mister Berger. What
do you are you buying the Penn State hype? I
am not.

Speaker 10 (01:07:26):
I want to because again, they were very talented teams.
That fields amazing. Yes, it's a very very good backfield.
And as you were saying off the air, like you
know they spend some money to kind of keep that back. Yes,
they did together. But again, I just think that gauntlet
of the Big ten is kind of tough, and you know,
you know, when you're playing you know that many good teams,
you know, it's gonna be hard for that team to
you know, win you know, eleven or twelve games Seawan.

Speaker 2 (01:07:47):
Your thoughts on the Nitney Lions. It's the first time
they've been ranked this high in the preseason.

Speaker 3 (01:07:53):
I want to say since like the late nineties.

Speaker 2 (01:07:56):
When they were regularly like one, two, three in the
polls and and had some great teams obviously LeVar Arrington,
Courtney Brown, Brandon Short they're great defensive teams. Back then.
Your thoughts on the Nitney Lions, which got to the
semi finals of the playoffs were one stupid pass away
against Notre Dame for potentially playing Ohio State for the title.

(01:08:16):
And they have sixteen starters back, the entire offensive line,
as Roy just said that, the running backs both thousand
yard backs, the quarterback Drew Aller, now his third year,
is the starter, a lot of good defensive players back.

Speaker 3 (01:08:31):
What are we think, Yeah, see, that's exactly a dick.

Speaker 8 (01:08:34):
The fact that they're bringing back all the more important
pieces to me beef up front offensive line of course,
on the offensive side of the ball. So I think, look,
and it's a different discussion, like this team will be
in the playoffs right and in now we're into the
conversation of what we talk about with baseball.

Speaker 3 (01:08:51):
You got to be playing your best at the right time.

Speaker 8 (01:08:55):
So could Penn State be eventually winning a national championship
this year?

Speaker 3 (01:08:58):
I do believe they're in the running. They're very capable
of it. This schedule. They got Oregon at home, that's favorable.

Speaker 8 (01:09:05):
Of course they got to travel to Ohio State, they
get Indiana at home, and then tell me who else.

Speaker 3 (01:09:10):
Is difficult on this schedule.

Speaker 8 (01:09:12):
So I think a lot is playing in two Penn
State and oh, by the way, just get into the dance.
Get yourself a favorable little track as they got last year,
and I don't think they are gonna change. But I
am buying Penn State and I think they will be
in the playoffs and they are a national championship contender some.

Speaker 2 (01:09:27):
Mike for the people that don't know. It's still a
twelve team.

Speaker 3 (01:09:30):
Player twelve team, but they're gonna see them right. They're
not gonna do what they did last years.

Speaker 2 (01:09:34):
It doesn't matter if you won conference or whatever. The
top four teams, according to the committee are getting to buy.

Speaker 5 (01:09:39):
Right, and the last year the top four teams that
had to buys they all lost.

Speaker 3 (01:09:44):
True, So your thoughtful, So you have to.

Speaker 2 (01:09:46):
Tell me when you say buying the hype because I
agree with everything Sean said. Yep. Do you mean buying
the hype that they should be number two in the
country to start, because I've heard guys come out and say, well.

Speaker 3 (01:09:59):
Wait a minute, they you're going to make them three.

Speaker 5 (01:10:02):
Fine, may whatever you want, but they are legitimately that good.

Speaker 2 (01:10:07):
Or is the hype that they can do it in
the playoffs? I agree with you.

Speaker 5 (01:10:11):
I think they're going to be a playoff team because
even if they lose the Oregon and lose Ohio State,
they're probably going to be in the top twelve.

Speaker 3 (01:10:18):
I'm just guessing. If I'm guessing they would be ten.

Speaker 2 (01:10:22):
That would keep them out of the Big Ten championship,
which means they can't lose a third game.

Speaker 3 (01:10:26):
Right and I don't.

Speaker 5 (01:10:28):
I mean, yeah, So again, the biggest question with Penn
State is the coach. That is because everybody doubts the coach.
That's what they say all the time the conversation. So
at some point this season their coach is going to
either get it done.

Speaker 2 (01:10:44):
And look, they won two playoff games last year. I
can't knock that. That's pretty significant.

Speaker 5 (01:10:49):
Favorite it's very yeah, but still games and they're taking
that they were tidinggens Notre Dame and when it went
overtime and then it didn't, so again the coach is
going to come under fire.

Speaker 2 (01:10:59):
And god forbid, I don't think they're gonna lose that
Oregon game because it's year they'll be a pretty significant face. Yes,
they will, probably, And if they go to Ohio I
think they have a chance in Ohio State.

Speaker 3 (01:11:10):
I really I think they're that good. That's November first.

Speaker 5 (01:11:13):
But let's say they lose that game, and they lose
it and and and it's the game we've seen twenty
five times seventeen to ten. Yeah, and you're gonna sit
there and go, wait a minute, we can't be scoring
ten points like they were, you know. And that's the
advantage I think the Penn State has this year is
they should be go to Ohio State and be able
to get the game in the twenties and then say, okay,

(01:11:34):
Ohio State, you score twenty seven against us.

Speaker 2 (01:11:38):
The games recently have just been like they're the same game.

Speaker 5 (01:11:40):
Whenever they play Michigan or they play Ohio State, they
score ten points.

Speaker 2 (01:11:44):
So everybody sits there and goes, huh, so, so what's
the difference. One of the differences is the Penn State.
After the season last year, they said, you know what,
we can't beat Ohio State, so why don't we just
hire their defensive court. Yeah, and they went and got
Jim Knowles, who has been you know, a great job.
And Jim Kelly's going Jiff Kelly gone in the quarter
of I mean, Jim, what am I saying? Jim chip Kelly?

(01:12:05):
Chip Kelly was there last year? Where the hell did
he go?

Speaker 3 (01:12:08):
Raiders?

Speaker 2 (01:12:10):
For the Raiders?

Speaker 3 (01:12:10):
Ye okay, it's it's hard to get you probably got
a pay.

Speaker 2 (01:12:13):
Rise, so much change, coach Franklin. And for the people
that don't know, he went to high school right across
Route one here at Mishamity High School. He's from Langre.
He's the local guy. He walked into it. Obviously a
very difficult spot at ben State. Over time, he's recruited great.
They've gotten better and better. They've Yeah, they are a

(01:12:34):
national factor again and have been for a number of years.

Speaker 3 (01:12:37):
But it's the one. And what the hell is it against.

Speaker 2 (01:12:40):
The top five? One in thirteen or something. No, it's
like two in nineteen. It's some crazy number and that
and that's the next last frontier for him, right, and
this is his best team yet.

Speaker 3 (01:12:54):
Uh. My issue when I when I think about them.

Speaker 2 (01:12:57):
Is their two best players from last year, Jel and
Carter Giants the tight end his name iss caaseed me.
Tyler Warren. Tyler Warren. It was with the Colts, those
were their best playmakers by far. Now Warren was their
only receiving threat because their whiteouts were so bad. I
am being told by Steve Jones, my play by play

(01:13:18):
guy Penn State Football, that the new guys they brought
in at wide out will be a revelation when you
see it. If that's the case, then they're as good
as anybody because they have all these starters back.

Speaker 3 (01:13:29):
They got a new defensive bard and they're not that there.

Speaker 2 (01:13:32):
I was bad because he was really good, and that's
why they get eating jobs all over them.

Speaker 3 (01:13:37):
He just got a job somewhere. Now he went to
Is he a Clemson? Okay, I think he went, that's correct.
I think yeah he got a.

Speaker 2 (01:13:46):
Yeah, but yes he went somewhere in the year before that,
many dis got the head job.

Speaker 3 (01:13:49):
At so you do well you get those jobs.

Speaker 2 (01:13:52):
So my concern is even last year's team as good
as they were.

Speaker 3 (01:13:58):
They barely beat us in LA.

Speaker 2 (01:14:01):
They were life and death to win at Minnesota and
the two the three hard games they had, they went
out in three. Ohio State arguing for the Big Ten championship,
Notre Damn in the national semi finals. That's my concern
until they start beating those teams.

Speaker 3 (01:14:20):
But think about it makes you wonder whether they think.

Speaker 2 (01:14:22):
About how the landscape of college football has changed. Used
to be had to be one top two teams. Well,
that was hard because you almost had to go on
beatings or and the expectations for Penn State might be
different because they're going to a highs whatever.

Speaker 3 (01:14:36):
Then you went to the four team playoffs.

Speaker 5 (01:14:37):
But you still had, you know, probably win your comp
Now Pennce were sitting here saying they're almost certainly going
to be in the playoffs, even if they lose to
at Ohio State, you know, which in the past might
have kept them out because they might have been fifth
or sixth or something.

Speaker 3 (01:14:51):
Whatever.

Speaker 2 (01:14:52):
They're probably in. Yeah, they'd have to lose a game
to one of these teams. Are they going to be
like a twenty point favorite, which seem unlicked. I know,
I'm gonna hate saying this I really think and again I'm.

Speaker 3 (01:15:05):
I'm giving it.

Speaker 5 (01:15:05):
I'm not giving them the Oregon game, but I'm saying
Oregon's gotta come across the country. They it's a revenge game.

Speaker 2 (01:15:10):
They lost their quarterback.

Speaker 5 (01:15:13):
If Penn State can go, Penn State has a chance
to run the table going into the playoffs because they
got a chance to beat Ohio State.

Speaker 2 (01:15:22):
I don't think Ohio State is as good as people.
All the other games beside, I think Ohio State is
going to take a little bit and again for Ohio State,
a little bit of a step back is not a
great step back, but they're still Ohio State. But Penn
State could be like the number one seed they could be,
and that doesn't guarantee you anything this year in the

(01:15:43):
way it's gonna be seated that it was irrelevant last Yeah,
I'm not a bad thing. Last year Oregon was the
number one seed.

Speaker 5 (01:15:50):
They got Ohio State quarter But I'm not saying that
that they're gonna win the championship because then you gotta
win playoff games and whatever, and anything can happen in
college football. But to me, the worst Penn State should
be is two losses, and that could be maybe losing
to Ohio State and then maybe losing the Big Ten
title game if they got to play Ohio State again
around it works out. But again I think they're as

(01:16:12):
good as Ohio State. Is the coach as good as
the Ohio State I don't know. I And again did
this guy and the first time they lose a game
that people view it and say, oh my god, he's
just going to come up and then you know what
he does. He goes back into his turtle show and
he does that whole person and the only way that's
ever going to go away.

Speaker 8 (01:16:32):
Win win, just quickly on this, because remember last year
Notre Dame lost in Northern Iowa still absolutely still made
the National Championship game. To your point, Dick, he talked
about Tyler Warren replacing one hundred and four catches last
year over twelve hundred yards, eight touchdowns.

Speaker 2 (01:16:48):
For the ball ran the ball plays quarterbrans.

Speaker 3 (01:16:53):
And then last right, blic carter, a blue carter.

Speaker 8 (01:16:57):
James Franklin's record against top ten opponent three and nineteen.

Speaker 2 (01:17:01):
Yeah, knew it was.

Speaker 3 (01:17:01):
I was one in fourteen against top fiveeen?

Speaker 2 (01:17:04):
Is that the top top ten? You said it was
three and nineteen, correct? And what was the other one,
the top one in fourteen versus top five. But I'll
give you something, go saud to it.

Speaker 5 (01:17:12):
Ryan Day's numbers are horrible true in those instances. Now again,
now nobody cares you won the national title?

Speaker 7 (01:17:19):
Who care.

Speaker 3 (01:17:21):
A little bit?

Speaker 2 (01:17:22):
They lost to Michigan. But again, the only way you
make that amy. There was talk last year that Ryan
Dame was gonna get fired.

Speaker 3 (01:17:31):
Absolutely after the Michigan game, gone four in a round and.

Speaker 5 (01:17:34):
The best thing that ever happened to a high I
said here like five. They had a month to think
about and they were ready to play. I mean they
Oregon had chance. Who they get in the first state
playing the first game? Correct, right, Tennessee had no chance
because they were going to Ohio State Oregon, don't don't
even come to the rose ball.

Speaker 2 (01:17:55):
I mean that that game was that and then who
they getting in the semis Texas And that was a
good game, right, I mean, well.

Speaker 3 (01:18:04):
And taking the there was a fumble for a touchdown.

Speaker 2 (01:18:08):
Fourteen I think was the four You're right, yea? And
the Ryan Ryan Day's story. So they've lost four straight
to Michigan. So Todd Jones, our buddy who wrote for
the Columbus Dispatch for years. I texted him while they're
winning the national title, I said, will they be happy
with Ryan Days? Absolutely not, because he lost to Michigan
four times.

Speaker 3 (01:18:28):
In a row, which brings up a story that Mike knows.

Speaker 2 (01:18:32):
Kentucky won the national basketball title in ninety eight with
Tubby Smith. It was his first year as the head coach.
I was down there the following uh November for the
Breeders Cup at Churchill Downs, and I went over to
talk to Tubby for the paper. I said, Tubby, yeah,
he won the national title. Everybody loves He says, well,
actually not really. He says, like a week after we
won the national title, fan comes up. He says, congratulations,

(01:18:53):
but you lost.

Speaker 3 (01:18:54):
Three home games? He lost what three home games?

Speaker 7 (01:18:57):
What do you do?

Speaker 2 (01:18:58):
They're nuts.

Speaker 3 (01:19:00):
We don't have sports fans at these factories.

Speaker 2 (01:19:03):
The Michigan, Ohio State football people, Pet State football people,
Kentucky hoops. There's not They're they're way crazier than the
pro peak. One day they're out of their minds. Oh yeah,
no they are. They all want their pro that's their
pro teams. Yeah that's right, and I want the coach
fired yesterday. One year I was at Sweet sixteen Austin.

Speaker 3 (01:19:22):
I think there was. I think it was your dick
let me.

Speaker 2 (01:19:24):
Go to Austin. But anyway, I let him go to Austin.
Maybe was wind Temples. I was depressed. I can't go
to I can't go to all. I was in Buffalo.
I've still never been to Austin because of you. I
wasn't going that the weekend sert. I wasn't going to
Buffalo and Syracuse. In fact, to back that's a band,
that's a band North Carolina. I was covering North I

(01:19:45):
guess it was they lose. Duke lost in in another region.
So my lead was, so what made North Carolina fans
happier to the fact that they are they won?

Speaker 3 (01:19:55):
I said, the fact that they won or Duke lost.

Speaker 2 (01:19:57):
I get back to the paper, like Monday, Nikki Yans
the other here and she's a writer. She comes up
to me, she goes, that was perfect. She was she
was in North Carolina felt. She goes, you're absolutely right.
We were happy to Duke loss and we want That's
how they and we don't understand because we don't have
anything like that. North Carolina people are like that. In fact,
there was a Mike Bray was the longtime coach at

(01:20:19):
Notre Dame, great stop assistant at Duke for years, and
one year North Carolina had like stack House Rashid Wallace.

Speaker 3 (01:20:27):
I mean they were stacked and they underachieved all year,
but they.

Speaker 2 (01:20:32):
Kept beating and they kept beating Duke. And I said
to Mike, I said, what what's the dealer, your sister? Well,
they hate us more than they hate each other. It
was a great lie. That's tremendous. It was just awesome.

Speaker 3 (01:20:45):
And that's how But that's hound. It's funny.

Speaker 5 (01:20:47):
Penn State and Pitt was like that for a long time.
But the great thing I remember when Penn State was going.

Speaker 2 (01:20:53):
To State, Pitt playing this year in Hershey in basketball.

Speaker 5 (01:20:57):
When Penn State left to go to Big ten, I
had to do a story talking to like about like
the rivalries that were lost, and I got who's the
tight end from Father Judge. They caught the big touchdown
in the Nebraska game when they in eighty there they
won the national title. Hey whatever, he was Mike, Mike
something back, but he was from Father Judge. I get

(01:21:20):
him on the phone and I said, you know all
these rivalries. He goes, what rivalries. He goes look him up.

Speaker 2 (01:21:25):
We beat Pitt twenty five of twenty seven times, we
beat West Virginia. I looked him all up at Penn State.

Speaker 5 (01:21:30):
He was they had no rivalry, They had no rivals
because they just Boston College, Syracuse, West.

Speaker 2 (01:21:37):
Virginia, Pitt. And there was another one I'm leaving now.
If you looked up Maryland, it was marylind two. If
you looked them all up, Penn State twenty seven, Maryland
three and not three.

Speaker 3 (01:21:47):
No, no, I mean they never got the three if
they won on one or two.

Speaker 2 (01:21:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:21:50):
Yeah, but again and and it's but we have no
Mike mcclausky. We don't understand that Duke Carolina mentality because
we just have him. Do you know what the closest
thing we.

Speaker 2 (01:22:01):
Have Dallas exactly, absolutely, And the people in Dallas nineteen
they don't care, don't care.

Speaker 3 (01:22:07):
It's totally Philadelphia way.

Speaker 2 (01:22:10):
Yeah, they used to be Washington was their rival, but
still basically, yeah, that was their big rival because the
Higgles always stunk back in this. Yeah.

Speaker 8 (01:22:18):
And by the way, Ryan Day has actually beat Michigan before,
like you would think with the conversation, he's one for
he's wanted, for no doubt, but he's never beat him.

Speaker 3 (01:22:26):
No, he actually did beat him one time.

Speaker 2 (01:22:27):
But that's right.

Speaker 3 (01:22:28):
I mean they kept running ranting coaches out of there
because they could never.

Speaker 2 (01:22:31):
Fa O High State. All the Ohio State coaches beat
the hell out of Michigan.

Speaker 3 (01:22:36):
They're revered. Like like Trestle came in and Trust was
just beating him like a drum.

Speaker 2 (01:22:41):
He brought Harbor in. What did he do? Stole sign?

Speaker 3 (01:22:45):
Yeah, thirty dollars.

Speaker 2 (01:22:46):
Later, they still they still have the Nationals player's just
write a check.

Speaker 3 (01:22:52):
They could carol us.

Speaker 2 (01:22:53):
They would have spent one hundred.

Speaker 3 (01:22:54):
And their coach is getting suspended for a couple.

Speaker 2 (01:22:56):
Of times and they could.

Speaker 8 (01:22:57):
He was on the team, So I'm okay with that,
but penal the kids instead.

Speaker 2 (01:23:03):

Speaker 2 (01:24:25):
We'll be back. Yes, we're gonna do it. The schedule
is out. How many back to back Seawan sixteen sixteen
to back for your six ers. They're conspiring against them already.
Joel Embiid will miss at least sixteen games, if not more.
We'll be back after this.

Speaker 3 (01:24:43):
If you can wager on it.

Speaker 6 (01:24:45):

NJPA Maryland, Ohio, Michigan Gambling Problem one eight hundred Gambler
to Chariti and Mike Kern here has always joined this
week by programming director Sean Brace Roy Burton here running
the show, and back in the studio our good friend
Sean Bernard. Sean, the schedule is out. They have conspired

(01:25:42):
against your sixers again. Have you gotten over the fact
that they have sixteen back to backs or is it
even relevant since we don't know if Embid is well
or not.

Speaker 4 (01:25:52):
Yeah, I think no matter how many back to backs
there are, it's sort of the same outlook for this
team that it's a roll of the dice for what
Joel Embiid looks like. And I think the real story
is we're gonna let the young kids run early on
and see what happens because of this. So the good
news is I think we'll know pretty early on in
the season whether or not this is a six Ers
team that has some jews, has some life, or if
this is another year that's gonna go down the drain.

Speaker 2 (01:26:12):
Sean, are you at.

Speaker 3 (01:26:13):
All buying anything of the Sixers at the point? I
think embrace Okay, yeah, we know Sean Bernard's answer.

Speaker 2 (01:26:22):
I'm sorry, Yeah, I know.

Speaker 4 (01:26:25):
I think it's noteworthy by the way, how noncommittal the
Sixeries are directly being for every single question asked about
Joel Embiide.

Speaker 8 (01:26:31):
Right, that's what's different than any other year. That's what
I would say about that. But to your answer to
your question, Dick, no, because I did see Sean Beannard,
who I love and we know, is a little bit
younger than me, so he is looking at things a
little bit more his a little bit more optimism when
it comes to the seventy six ers, and that will
change over the years, I promise you that's Sean. But

(01:26:52):
I saw him say something on the lines of forty
six wins seven. Yeah, I'll take the under on that.
I think again, everybody makes the playoffs, sure, but I
don't see this team being around five hundred.

Speaker 2 (01:27:05):
But in theory though, if look, I agree with you,
but if if in b I don't know, played fifty
five sixty and you don't believe that though, right, What
I'm saying is, though, what are you Six is not
a great great number, like if the young guys are good,
sure maybe.

Speaker 5 (01:27:22):
So I'm just saying I wouldn't totally I tend to
agree with you that I would because I don't know
what guys are gonna play. If you said fifty two wins,
I'd be like, oh, you know, but again, they could
maybe get to like five hundred with the young guys
running around or doing what.

Speaker 8 (01:27:37):
They're doing, a lot of injuries to out there. Yeah,
Pacers are dealing with Halibert and.

Speaker 3 (01:27:43):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 10 (01:27:44):
To be honest, Roy, your thoughts on the Sixers, Yeah,
I've kind of been hardened by this team. Over over
the over, the understanding, because again, you know, at one time,
and how old are you, Roy, I'm forty six.

Speaker 2 (01:27:55):
You've seen it, You've seen it. He's seen enough. That's
that's that's the thing.

Speaker 3 (01:27:58):
I've seen enough.

Speaker 10 (01:27:58):
I've lived through the m B seasons where he didn't
play as a rookie. I saw a championship.

Speaker 3 (01:28:04):
You saw. I saw a championship. Man, I saw it
as a toddler.

Speaker 10 (01:28:10):
But you know I lived through Ben Simmons injuring his
foot on the last play of training camp. You know,
you know, I've forgotten it. It was the last place,
last player of training camp, and so I saw. But
he won the Rookie Year. Next year, did win Rookie
of Year. And then we all lived through the the
the Andrew Bidham, you know, bowling cartilage and the Petri
dish kind of stuff. Ma, cal folks, I haven't even

(01:28:33):
gotten there. So yeah, so I'm done. I'm done being
optimistic with this team. I don't know what the over
under is. I got to look it up on the
on the bet Parks first book, but whatever it is,
I'm taking the under.

Speaker 2 (01:28:41):
I can't I can't, I can't see I can't see
this too.

Speaker 3 (01:28:48):
I'm going on, I can't look right now. After games.

Speaker 2 (01:28:51):
I want to bring you guys out of your depression.

Speaker 3 (01:28:54):
Okay, and you're not. You never do that in depression.
You're You're wrong.

Speaker 2 (01:28:59):
Really listen to me. That dam Who is the favorite
to win the NFL right now? The betting favorite is
the Eagles? Who is the second betting favorite to win
the World Series? Fellas has that?

Speaker 7 (01:29:12):
Like?

Speaker 2 (01:29:12):
Have we ever sat here at any time in our
lives and been able to say.

Speaker 3 (01:29:17):
That doesn't mean they're going to win.

Speaker 5 (01:29:20):
But people are telling you that you got two really
good teams. The Phillies that disappointing us.

Speaker 3 (01:29:26):
I get it. The Eagles have not disappointed Talking about
the section, I'm trying to get you out of your
out of the sixth man. Now we're talking about the
such I'm trying.

Speaker 2 (01:29:36):
I'm hosting.

Speaker 3 (01:29:38):
Can we talk flying We're definitely not talking. I'm curious.
I'm looking it up right now.

Speaker 2 (01:29:44):
I'm guessing it's like forty two. You just don't want
to talk about this six You want to avoid the sections.
Don't you tell the trick?

Speaker 3 (01:29:50):
I don't.

Speaker 2 (01:29:50):
You just don't like them. You don't like anything about him.
You don't like that, man, No, I like Maxie I.
The two young guys they have could be decent player.
I'm not. I don't know yet. I have to see him.
I always saw a guy from Duke for like ten
games last year. He looked good.

Speaker 3 (01:30:06):
He looked good and a half forty two and a half.
I'm telling you right now interesting.

Speaker 2 (01:30:11):
I might Basically, I might say I might take the
over only because of the East, is what you said.

Speaker 3 (01:30:19):
They opened in Boston, Oh.

Speaker 8 (01:30:21):
Yeah, without Tatum, but they still have that Jalen Brown
still Boston.

Speaker 5 (01:30:26):
Paul George had him b or still Paul George and
emb they're probably going.

Speaker 3 (01:30:31):
Under that number. Yeah exactly.

Speaker 8 (01:30:33):
And you know embiand's not starting the season, so oh
he'll be back Christmas.

Speaker 3 (01:30:37):
Ramp him up. Paul George is out there with a
with a bum knee already. It's just the Paul.

Speaker 5 (01:30:43):
George thing to me is almost more disconcerting. I mean,
Joe we not look okay. His need it takes a.

Speaker 3 (01:30:49):
While to come. But I mean he's hurt again, like
like like.

Speaker 2 (01:30:53):
But he was wearing last night, Chambers.

Speaker 3 (01:30:55):
Paul George was out and about on the streets. I
believe of l A. If I'm not.

Speaker 8 (01:30:59):
Mistaken, he's allowed to be at the club, but he
had the thing on his leg knee brace rocking at shorts. Yep,
he's thirty.

Speaker 2 (01:31:08):
Six years He ain't as you always say that old
guys ain't getting better.

Speaker 3 (01:31:13):
Now, it's the truth what you said. Not exactly, not
exactly like that, but he sort.

Speaker 5 (01:31:19):
Of said they're getting older, and he goes, why would
you expect the guy who's been injured like it's the
kind of thing with some NFL players They get older
and people, well, he's gonna like Rogers for instance, and
the guy with the rams.

Speaker 2 (01:31:32):
Now he's thirty seven years old and he's bothering him.

Speaker 5 (01:31:34):
And he's going to get better though, because and I
love Matthew Stafford, I'll but again, and beat is not
getting now. He might get healthy for a while where
he can play a little bit. He could play. Maybe
he's going to average twenty, maybe he can score twenty.

Speaker 9 (01:31:49):
Seven, knows.

Speaker 2 (01:31:51):
I mean he's really I mean seriously, it's he's been
around town. I mean no, he's been in the sightings.
That was a great thing about overs if you can
always fight about that, you know what outside the posi, you.

Speaker 8 (01:32:02):
Know, what he was at the link for the real
Madrid game. Yeah, Joe, how did he look? He didn't
have a knee brace Son looked good. Look like he
was spinning down a little bit. He was at a
Phillies game last week too. Oh, he's at the Phillies
game last week.

Speaker 2 (01:32:17):
Sean Bernard, the eternal optimist, What is it that keeps
you believing? What all of us cynics out of here?
Just put me right at the top of that list.
I haven't even said it yet, but I think it's
just over and it's been over. Sean Bernard, explain yourself
to the to the masses out there listening to us

(01:32:38):
so in sports here, there and everywhere.

Speaker 4 (01:32:39):
Well, to be honest, the number one thing that gives
me believe this year is I just look at the
Eastern Conference and I see very few good basketball teams
that I think every single team you can point to
flaws like I think the Cavaliers, Celtics, and Knicks deserve
their respect, and everyone else is a mixed bag. Like
if Giannis gets hurt, that Bucks team is winning like
fifteen games this year, better than them, choice, better than him,

(01:33:01):
and even that that's five rate there. So like that's
if we're talking about having a chance. I do believe
that there's gonna be something pleasant to a bunch of
young guys who try really hard compete every single night, and.

Speaker 3 (01:33:11):
That's a fair point to build a little bit of
a Let me ask you this. Are they going to
get pissed the second round?

Speaker 2 (01:33:18):
That's all I want to know.

Speaker 3 (01:33:20):
Make it to the second round?

Speaker 2 (01:33:21):
That's fine to play, But he's optimistic. I just want
to ask, because the only thing that matters to me,
to you, to me is can you do something you've
done once in forty years, forty three years, whatever it's been,
Sean Bernard, that's all nask.

Speaker 4 (01:33:35):
They have a chance to it's it's gonna need it's
gonna require the young guys carrying the load for the
start of the season, and then you're gonna need Joel
and Paul George to look something like the best version
of themselves during that time of year. That's a lot
of ifs. That's not a great track record, but that's
the pathway that I see.

Speaker 3 (01:33:50):
Good luck with that.

Speaker 2 (01:33:51):
Spring training starts on February to twenty eight, and we'll
all be sitting there going pict Sean Bernard has there
ever been a moment to all of this from the
beginning of this what man, I don't even want to
bring up the term again because it's so irritating. Begins
with a P and ends with.

Speaker 3 (01:34:06):
An s piss.

Speaker 2 (01:34:11):
Well, very Compyes, has there ever been a moment where
you said, you know what, maybe maybe this is never
going to work it out?

Speaker 4 (01:34:18):
My low point was definitely Game seven versus the Celtics,
when Jason Tatum was dropping fifty points on our head
and Joe El Embiid and James Harden looked like they
didn't have a care in the world.

Speaker 3 (01:34:27):
That was my my low point of this Sixers era
for sure.

Speaker 5 (01:34:30):
Actually low point was Game six Sean Yeah, because I
texted Dick at some point I said, you know, we've
been ripping them all this time.

Speaker 3 (01:34:38):
They might actually do this, and I would have been cheering.

Speaker 5 (01:34:41):
I mean, you know, but we didn't think they could
beat Boston and there they were up three points, went
four minutes ago and Joden touched the bulk.

Speaker 3 (01:34:48):
Yeah yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:34:49):
But then coming coming back to Philadelphia and just getting
the heart ripped out like that, the way that game
Seve went down, that to me stung war Also.

Speaker 3 (01:34:57):
I just want to point out my number one, are
my number one?

Speaker 7 (01:35:01):
I know you.

Speaker 8 (01:35:02):
I love the seventy sixers. I know that I would
die to see a championship. Yep, oh Sean, hell were
you eighty three?

Speaker 3 (01:35:09):
Were you forty four? So I was eighty one? Born
in any one to said that had didn't mappen?

Speaker 2 (01:35:14):
Yeah, don't have a lot of memories, cheeks.

Speaker 6 (01:35:17):
And I was.

Speaker 8 (01:35:19):
I was, I was brought up. I was a Jordan fan.
I was a bulls guy. And then the BA town
was handed over to AI and that's when my seven
Sixers fan.

Speaker 2 (01:35:26):
I mean, our greatest memory of this franchise for this
generation is two thousand and one. Correct, they lost for
five games, So that was at the point. Oh, I
know that they lost the right side. No, but I'm saying,
but that's that was that was much fun has ever had.
But that's what it's like when we used to think
about we used to think about the ninety three.

Speaker 5 (01:35:48):
Films like that, Yeah, and that and is Eddy Barks
get the Daily News the greatest? He said, Philadelphia, you
think about this for a long time. The best memory
of the Phillies was nineteen fifty Wiskeys who lost in
four games.

Speaker 2 (01:36:00):
And that's the truth. That's the city.

Speaker 5 (01:36:02):
What we It's just Dick, is it one hundred and
fifty percent right? That two thousand and one run was that.

Speaker 2 (01:36:09):
Was awesome, But we're we're going google over a team
twenty four years later that you know, Okay, they got
to the finals and got whacked by.

Speaker 5 (01:36:16):
A great team and I get it, and they were
hurt and they were but that's our that's what we have.
And then the Super Bowls one world exactly. The Eagles
have taken Eles have totally taken us.

Speaker 3 (01:36:29):
Two liars are just just around the corner. I don't
know where the train is coming. With the Flyers, I'm
murning from my man Jonesy like I'm just I'm rooting
for rooting for Jones.

Speaker 2 (01:36:42):
They've been worse than they've been, so much worse than
the Sixers.

Speaker 3 (01:36:45):
The last fifteen year become a round, not even close,
you know, you know, it's a tough pill to swallow
with the Flyers.

Speaker 2 (01:36:50):
As you said, I was a Flyers, that was my
team guy in the day.

Speaker 8 (01:36:54):
You see these guys going on like Bob Rabrovski right right,
and he's a Hall of Fame going.

Speaker 2 (01:37:00):
Carter are the two guys they traded.

Speaker 8 (01:37:02):
All these guys are just going on and playing well,
It's like, wait a minute, they were once here.

Speaker 3 (01:37:08):
Yeah, yeah, disappointing. So why are the Sixers for you?

Speaker 2 (01:37:11):
Sean?

Speaker 3 (01:37:11):
What is it about the Sean Brace?

Speaker 2 (01:37:14):
What is it about the Sixers more so than the
Eagles of the Phillies that has your family or.

Speaker 3 (01:37:18):
As I call them, the Sickers.

Speaker 8 (01:37:20):
Well, it, like I said, it was Ai, and it
just it turned me on to being a fan of
actually a team, having more of you know, at stake
or a steak in a team, versus being a fan.

Speaker 3 (01:37:33):
Of Chicago Bulls. And I have no ties to Chicago,
So it was all about AI for me, and of
course Larry Brown and just you know, hoops hoops. Dick
and I had the privilege.

Speaker 5 (01:37:42):
I was like the twelfth guy down there whatever however
many people we sent, I was the last one.

Speaker 3 (01:37:47):
Dick was of covering that.

Speaker 2 (01:37:50):
I was on the road the whole run those two
game Sevens and Kens and didn't a I dropped fifty
five or fifty fifty one game Carter had fifty like
they did. They were going back against the Toronto's, weren't
they going? Didn't a I had a couple of fifties,
right he did? I remember that one Dame. I did
the other team's locker room. So I was in Milwaukee's
locker in Toronto's locker, remember the Pacers in the first round,

(01:38:13):
And I remember Charles Oakley was on Toronto and Iverson
had like fifty in one game.

Speaker 3 (01:38:19):
He says he's not gonna get fifty next time. He
had fifty five or whatever the number was. They could
it was.

Speaker 2 (01:38:26):
It was insane. The Milwaukee Game five where Big Dog
has like a like a seven foot shot to win
the game, Ye misses it, and if they probably would have.

Speaker 5 (01:38:34):
Won the series, I'm guessing. And then the Game seven's
I mean and I had to do. I'll never forget
this Game seven against Milwaukee. My assignment was Pat Croachy.
They sent me down and I spent Dave Cosky. Great
Dave Cosky set me up with Patrick. Three hours before
the game. I'm walking off after the game. Somebody steals
the hat off Pat's head. It said it said Eastern

(01:38:56):
Conference champions. Right, Pat stops gives him a look. The
guy gave him half back.

Speaker 2 (01:39:03):
Yeah, I wouldn't want to get a little.

Speaker 3 (01:39:05):
Looked at me and smiles. He goes, I would have
done the same thing.

Speaker 7 (01:39:09):
And it was.

Speaker 2 (01:39:09):
It was, but it was a great time.

Speaker 3 (01:39:11):
It was be around them.

Speaker 7 (01:39:13):
And then game one like.

Speaker 2 (01:39:15):
Game one, I mean now and stepping over.

Speaker 3 (01:39:17):
Loo and game two went overtime, right, almost got overtime.
Larry Brown said to me, I wish it was then turn.

Speaker 5 (01:39:26):
That's a great line, the turn. He knew what he
was up and if they had been healthy, they might
have won another game. I mean, order guy and or
he kept killing him.

Speaker 2 (01:39:38):
Right numbers, they got killed by three point shooting and
y right, the Lakers shot and the Sixers didn't. Yeah,
and they got outscored from the three point line in
five games. I remember writing it. It was something insane
number like one hundred point. But they were going up
the games, shot and Lakers didn't win. They didn't lose
a game going on, they were starting Jermaine Jones.

Speaker 3 (01:39:57):
I mean it was but that was that was part
of a yeah, exactly, that.

Speaker 2 (01:40:05):
Was the fun part, all right, Sean Bernard. Before we
get out of here, we got a couple of minutes left.
Tell the people why the Sixers will not only make
the playoffs, but will win two routes of the playoffs.

Speaker 4 (01:40:21):
If you can, I will once again prefer to the
weak East is my number one driving point. But again,
I do think that the the young guys. I think
people do not realize how good Jared McCain is, Tyree's
MAXI has not just fallen off the map, and Vja
Edgecomb is gonna be a day one impact guy. So
I think there's gonna be more youth, more energy, and
a little bit more hunger to the team.

Speaker 2 (01:40:39):
Garage's coming off an injury. Let's not like forget that. Yeah,
sometimes guys don't come there.

Speaker 4 (01:40:44):
He might be good, it might be next injury torminiscus,
But I will I will take the track record for
a twenty one year old six foot three guard more
than a seven foot two big man that weighs three
hundred pounds like Joell there.

Speaker 3 (01:40:57):
So I'm not with you.

Speaker 2 (01:40:58):
The guy they just drafted think can help?

Speaker 3 (01:41:01):
Yeah, can I just bring something up?

Speaker 8 (01:41:04):
Landon Dickerson had a tour because that's with and he's
back at practice handed like McCain got the whole season up.

Speaker 3 (01:41:11):
Like what is going on?

Speaker 4 (01:41:12):
Right?

Speaker 3 (01:41:12):
They the goal is the goal is saluted by the
end of the day.

Speaker 2 (01:41:16):
In the NFC title game. I think, like with the tour,
those the center in the in the guard right, they
were both hurting that game.

Speaker 3 (01:41:22):
Yea, and they exactly sixers. You get the rest of
the season.

Speaker 2 (01:41:26):
Center didn't start the game. Pickerson played center, didn't he
got hurt. Offensive lineman did not run ninety four regular
It's a fair point that might be part.

Speaker 4 (01:41:36):
I also think McCain's injury specifically was more or less
the tipping point of this season is completely off the rails.
I think if there was intent to still compete last year,
he probably would have returned.

Speaker 3 (01:41:46):
But the the it was off the rails and afterwards played. Yeah,
what's the date, sean that the season goes off the
rails this year?

Speaker 8 (01:41:53):
This year?

Speaker 7 (01:41:54):
Uh?

Speaker 5 (01:41:58):
Sean, who plays more games? The center or the guy
they signed the center, the guy they signed last year?
Paul just Paul George or Embiide.

Speaker 2 (01:42:09):
Let me ask you a question.

Speaker 5 (01:42:10):
I'm serious, between the two of them, at four minutes
between the two of them, did they play an eighty
two game schedule?

Speaker 3 (01:42:16):
Yes, I think I think Paul George carries the way
on that one. I didn't the way. I can see
Paul George playing sixty games this year.

Speaker 2 (01:42:25):
When played twenty two.

Speaker 3 (01:42:27):
Can we go on about that? Yeah, that is around
eighty two total for him.

Speaker 2 (01:42:31):
You know what Paul George did two years ago. We're
all going over to bety Two years ago, Paul George
was in the contract here. He played his butt off,
He went down and playas and the Clippers wouldn't give
him the fourth year. So he said, I'm gonna go
here because they're gonna give me the fourth year. And
that's what we got the last six seasons.

Speaker 8 (01:42:49):
Paul George just played sixty plus games one time two
years ago.

Speaker 2 (01:42:53):
Sean ire your enthusiastimism, yea, I wish we shared its youth,
and it's youth.

Speaker 3 (01:43:00):
The four of us are unanimous.

Speaker 2 (01:43:03):
