So get your tickets.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
All right, Let's start with Eagles from Thursday night, and
Mike will start with you.
Speaker 4 (01:38):
I know you were down there, but I know you
were watching. What was your thoughts on the Eagles beating
the Cowboy.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
I'm actually on my way. I'm going to drive to
Chapel Hill to talk to Bill. See what Bill had
to say. Good luck, God, oh my.
Speaker 3 (01:56):
That's that's what I like about Kerrent, I asked. I
asked him about the Chiefs and Eagle, So he tells
you about North Carolina.
Speaker 4 (02:01):
That's why you were good.
Speaker 2 (02:04):
Yeah, I mean I texted you, I mushed you. I
told you the over was gonna be like by the
third quarter because you like a god that they didn't
score like the rest of the game. Look, I thought
Dallas could have won the game. I mean, obviously Ceedee
Lamb had two or three big drops. Uh, you know,
(02:27):
Dallas played I thought pretty good for Dallas. The Eagles played.
You know, Diegles didn't play bad. The quarterback was great.
The quarterback and this is why he is who he is.
He might not be one of the top four, Okay,
we could argue that forever, but for this team and
what he does, he's great. And the way he played
the other night, he did everything he had to do.
(02:50):
And I still think if Dallas had scored, I still
think he would have found a way to at least
get them in field goal range or something if he
got the ball. But anyway, and yeah, now they're gonna
have to go to Kansas City next week, which will
be coming awful loss, and they'll probably I think maybe
(03:12):
without Jail and Carter. I mean, we'll have to see
how that all plush his output. Look, it's it's a
rematch of two to the last three Super Bowls, and
the Chiefs, you know, they don't want to go to
Owen two I'm sure in that division, and the Eagles
probably gonna go out there feeling like they can beat
them again. I think I haven't seen the whole week
(03:33):
to schedule, but from my perspective, that's got to be
the best game, right.
Speaker 3 (03:38):
Yeah, that's the four twenty five Fox game next Sunday,
Eagles at Kansas City. The early line Kansas City's minus
one and a half. I've seen out there at the
moment now to a couple of points from Mike Hurts,
and this has probably never happened in the NFL history.
The last fifteen games he started in finish, he's fifteen
and l Yeah, that's an incredible stick.
Speaker 4 (03:58):
The only game he loss is that Washington game where
he got hurt early.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
Also speaking of incredible stats, Mike mentioned the over I
gave out the over last week forty seven.
Speaker 4 (04:09):
This asspan had this up yesterday. This is mind boggling.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
So in the last twenty years there's been one hundred
and sixty six games for it, it's been forty points
or more at halftime.
Speaker 4 (04:23):
And of those one hundred and sixty six games, whether.
Speaker 3 (04:25):
The line was fifty or less, meaning you had to
go it needed to be fifty or over fifty. One
hundred and sixty six and up, every team has gone
over forty seven until Thursday night.
Speaker 4 (04:41):
That's a tough beat. If you had over forty seven
and it's a field goal rather than the gag. I mean, really,
you're counting your money.
Speaker 3 (04:49):
That's incredible because the line is done. As Mike pointed
out to me, the line went up to sixty seven.
Speaker 4 (04:54):
Yeah, it was. It was nuts. And the one field
goal of the second half, that's insane.
Speaker 5 (05:01):
I think part of that could be attributed to the
lightning delay because that gives both teams two separate breaks. Yeah,
uh to adjust you have halftime, and then both teams
each had a drive in the second half, and then
you have another hour delay. So I think it could
be attributed to that. Maybe it's not. Maybe I'm delusional,
(05:22):
but you know, I like to think, so I like
to rationalize it in your favorite tick.
Speaker 4 (05:25):
Yeah, I mean you also had I did not.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
You also had to fumble. You had to fumble where
Dallas probably would have got at least a field goal,
and you had to see Lamb drop one drop stop
the drive and then the other drops they would have
been on like Eagles fifteen or whatever they would have been.
So yeah, that you made history kick.
Speaker 4 (05:48):
Yeah, you get very impressive that.
Speaker 3 (05:51):
David as a man who's going to be calling the
over game your thoughts on Eagles Cowboys.
Speaker 6 (05:56):
I have to say I'm in a great mood today. Right,
you don't have a football is back, just sick. One
of the NFL season. Things are going well, so maybe
I'm more optimistic than others. But you know, heading into
this game, the Eagles were one and four against Dallas
with dak as a starting quarterback in the Nick Sirianni era,
and they tried almost everything they possibly could to lose
(06:16):
this game. I mean, Jalen Carter getting thrown out first
six seconds deflated the link which was which was rocking
for sure leading up to that point. So they tried
really everything to lose. A lot of bad penalties in
this game. Nolan Smith, even though I thought he looked
pretty good, he took a couple of bad penalties, roughing
the passer and then the other one for taunting, which
is a different conversation we could have if we think
that rule should be used the way it was.
Speaker 4 (06:38):
But you know, the Eagles tried everything to lose. They
still won by four points.
Speaker 2 (06:41):
Yep.
Speaker 6 (06:41):
And the lightning delay, I agree with what you said, Kyle.
I thought that played a role because you know, kind
of watching the game, and this isn't an excuse, but
it seemed like the rain was gonna come earlier. Everybody
was talking about the rain's going to go and I
know that that you know, probably didn't.
Speaker 4 (06:53):
Play a role.
Speaker 6 (06:54):
But I think at the end of the day, having
that second pause really hurt both offenses. And you know,
I think the pause of two in the second half,
to look at it is the defense I thought looked
much better. I mean, the Eagles have a problem at cornerback,
the number two spot. I mean it's a real issue.
I don't think we talked about Darius Slay leaving enough
in the offseason. Yeah, but you know, heading into Kansas City,
I feel cautiously optimistic.
Speaker 4 (07:15):
I mean we said a lot of these scene things
last year.
Speaker 6 (07:17):
After, you know, the Eagles win against the Packers, I
think it's a similar situation. I think they'll figure it
out defensively. And Jalen Hurts, I mean, you know, Mike
said it earlier. I mean he looked every bit like
the Super Bowl MVP was last year.
Speaker 4 (07:27):
Yeah, no, he was.
Speaker 3 (07:27):
He was terrific every time he had to do something
to make something happen. It was weird at the end
when they're third day and went four or whatever and
they go to empty and I'm going, all right, Hurts
is going to run the ball. Everybody in the State
even knew it. The announcers didn't know it. They should
have said it. It was obvious what was going to happen.
And obviously my man eber Flus didn't know it either,
because he's a bozo. I mean, like great hire by Dall, Yeah,
like what are you doing? I mean, that was the
(07:49):
easiest call of the year. What was gonna happen? And
he had big one guy, he faked him out. He
gets the first hand in the game. The game was
over at that point.
Speaker 4 (07:58):
The only knock ahead on and I'm not and I
don't know if.
Speaker 3 (08:01):
It's even or not, because without seeing down the field,
I thought he got out of the pocket too fast
often the other night. But it's possible the reason he
was doing that because nobody was open. That's what I
don't know. AJ Brown didn't get the ball to the
fourth quarter.
Speaker 4 (08:14):
Maybe he lit. Don't think he's fully healthy, That's that
Maybe the answer.
Speaker 3 (08:17):
He just might have been out there as a decoy
all night. And I have two guys covered him and
do that. But the bottom line is Mike said, and
you said, David Hurts made every single but which is
all he does? Fifteen and out of the last fifteen
starts that he finishes. Kyle, your thoughts up.
Speaker 5 (08:32):
Firstly, yeah, I mean Jalen Hurts, say what you want.
I mean nineteen of twenty three hundred and fifty two yards.
He didn't have three hundred passing yards and four touchdowns.
You know, he's not that good.
Speaker 4 (08:44):
There were three throwaways and a drop, so he was
nineteen for nineteen.
Speaker 2 (08:48):
Yep.
Speaker 5 (08:50):
I think to your point, yeah, Jalen got out of
the pocket a little bit too quick, but I think
a lot of that was attributed to because he knew
they didn't have a spy on him, or if they did,
he wasn't good enough. They needed more because he was
running all over. Could have been by design, Yeah, exactly,
And yes, the biggest takeaways from that game, to David's point,
(09:12):
is they need a cornerback too, and badly. But the
biggest win I think from that outside of Jalen Hurts,
is the defensive adjustments at halftime.
Speaker 4 (09:24):
Amazing.
Speaker 5 (09:25):
The front four is something I was concerned about coming
into this season. You know, you can laugh at me saying,
you know, being concerned the Super Bowl champs.
Speaker 4 (09:34):
But they lost a lot.
Speaker 5 (09:35):
Yeah, they lost a lot, and they want to fill
that up and you know, with a four man rush
in the second half without having to blitz, they were
getting to Dak Prescott and that and that's you know,
a huge win I think moving forward, and Kyle, I
think your.
Speaker 3 (09:46):
Point about the second rest is huge because look who
gets most tired in NFL games at the end, the
defensive lineman. They're they're exhausted, right. That's why teams can
score at will, seemingly at the end of games. That's
why you don't give good quarterbacks the ball with two
minutes left because they just run it down your throat
because the defense can't get there.
Speaker 4 (10:02):
And look Carter not being there.
Speaker 3 (10:04):
And I don't Mike, I don't think he's going to
get suspended for another game. I think he's already been
suspended for a game. I think that's what Thursday was about.
Speaker 4 (10:12):
It was just dumb.
Speaker 2 (10:14):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (10:14):
It was interesting.
Speaker 3 (10:15):
We didn't know until later that Prescott had also spit.
And I don't know whether that was intentional he was
trying to go to him to doing something dumb or what.
I don't know if anybody's.
Speaker 5 (10:24):
That's like das, I feel like Jalen Carter's below hanging
fruit there to to try and ante.
Speaker 3 (10:31):
He was already on the wrong side of the line
of shrimmage he's doing but the whole thing, Hey, look,
he'll learn from it.
Speaker 4 (10:37):
He's a terrific player.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
He'll figure that guy the governor, the governor of Pennsylvania
for reasons that I know not once do something. You
know what you're saying, Okay, And apparently when you heard
the xlation afterwards, Dak was saying that Jalen was doing something,
doing running back or something.
Speaker 4 (10:57):
Making it to his right guard.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
It's just great. This is just my opinion. I mean,
I Suarez just got suspended for like five matches for
spitting on somebody. I think Roger Goodell because it was
on National TV first game. I think he's going to
get a game. I really do. I could be wrong.
Maybe they won't, but I think they're I think they're
gonna look whatever the words you want to throw in
(11:22):
if they don't give them a game, which again, maybe
they won't. Maybe there's fine, and which finds me nothing.
One thing. It's funny that we mentioned eflus. I think,
first of all, Dallas appeared to me to be much
better coach than they have been. I think Schottenheimer did
a good job of having them ready. Their defense was good.
(11:43):
They took away Brown and and and Demante and did
a very good job. But they can't stop everything when
you play the Eagles. They did a pretty good job
with the running game, and okay, so the quarterbacks go
to beach it. That's kind of know what happened, which
makes the Eagles so dangerous. Uh But again, I thought
(12:06):
Dallas kind of impressed me. I'm not saying they're gonna
win twelve thirteen games, but I think they're gonna be
what's the right word. I don't know if he's.
Speaker 3 (12:18):
The reality when Prescott plays. Dallas is a very good team.
They have been for years. They just stayed in the playoffs,
but they've been a really.
Speaker 4 (12:25):
Good regular season. When Dak plays, and when he does it,
they stay. And they kept.
Speaker 3 (12:29):
They did a good job on really good job in
the second in the second half, after the break, after
the break, what happens if they don't get that break. Yeah,
they were se last seven runs one yard. Yeah, he
had no where, he had no where to go. But
that's what that's that's what makes the Eagles so great.
Speaker 5 (12:44):
You shut down the two receivers, Yet you shut down
Oh that's right. You still have a top ten tight
end and Dallas Goddard who had seven catches and.
Speaker 2 (12:55):
He made that big pass play to the third wide receiver.
Speaker 4 (12:59):
It was a huge might have been.
Speaker 2 (13:03):
Right.
Speaker 3 (13:03):
Yeah, there were two defensive places again, the fumble that
they got Sanders obviously, that Turt that flipped the field.
Speaker 4 (13:10):
And then let the very last play again.
Speaker 3 (13:13):
It was just I don't know why these guys don't
know that Hurts was gonna ruck and then And that's
why I don't like a guy like Era Flus, because
that's the moment where you have to be locked in
to what's most likely to happen. It's like a ninety
percent Hurts is running when there's an empty backfield.
Speaker 4 (13:29):
What else is he doing?
Speaker 2 (13:30):
Hell? How about how about Zach Warn chasing that guy down?
Speaker 4 (13:34):
Awesome Miles, I mean.
Speaker 2 (13:37):
That's just that's a touchdown, right.
Speaker 3 (13:39):
I Mean that's why Miles Sanders was the backup the
Saqua Barkley at Penn State.
Speaker 4 (13:43):
Yeah, because Barkley he wasn't chasing Berkley down. Yeah, and
he and he couldn't beat up Toba Hubbard in Carolina.
Speaker 2 (13:52):
Bottles. Great guys at all.
Speaker 4 (13:54):
Good Bye and you guys.
Speaker 2 (13:56):
You guys touched on it, did it? Five of you
and all those The lack of discipline a time, Yeah.
Speaker 4 (14:01):
I agree, stupid. Really you're all players. What are we
doing here? This is not in college?
Speaker 5 (14:08):
Yeah, I think, I think, yes, the lack of discipline,
But then you know what David just mentioned earlier. The
Nolan Smith penalty I think was egregious. You can't show
any emotion after a tackle. That's where I was going
with that colle That was terrible.
Speaker 3 (14:22):
Yeah, I mean they've gotten into this no taunting thing.
I mean that's fine, but please yeah you got Noah,
you know he said something. It's fine, what guys.
Speaker 4 (14:34):
A little bit. You can't trash talk, you can't celebrate
after no f Then we're back to the no fun league. Yeah,
no funneler. All right, So they made the agenda for today.
Speaker 3 (14:43):
We got through the Eagles and we'll get back to
them a little bit of Eagles Kansas City next Sunday.
For twenty five, we got the college games, we got
the NFL games. We're gonna go over all of it.
Speaker 2 (14:52):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (14:52):
I got some college games circled here, Mike, do you
have any ramps for us?
Speaker 3 (14:57):
After your calming two weeks and uh any trash grand yeah, brdle.
Speaker 2 (15:03):
What I will say is this Temple I should Candy
did not play. And I mean last week I said
that was you know Temple Miles Casey, the guy threw
for six touchdowns my man, which and I don't even
know who he is tied for a TI Temple, but
they get Howard. What's the line today?
Speaker 3 (15:23):
They're going to twenty five. There's a line house minus
twenty five at the link. They are flooding into the
lake as we speak.
Speaker 2 (15:34):
I'm gonna get the early line on next what's your
only line on next week?
Speaker 4 (15:39):
Next week? Al's in the Sooners. I have not seen
a lot that the shoot.
Speaker 5 (15:46):
I think it is is Nova next week at Penn
State and yes, Nova Penn State Temple Oklahoma biggest week.
Speaker 3 (15:53):
At Saturday in the history of college football, and thought
of I mean, what can you in Oklahoma?
Speaker 2 (15:58):
Oklahoma has a U huge game today.
Speaker 4 (16:02):
We'll get to all that. Hang tight. We're gonna go
through them all.
Speaker 3 (16:05):
Let's start at the town they go. We got the
two o'clock at the Link. We're leaving right after the
show and heading right to the lake.
Speaker 5 (16:13):
I don't know, we might not be able to get in, Kyle,
What do you think it's gonna be tough? I mean,
I bought my tickets ahead of time. If you're looking
to get him at the gate, then you're you're out
of luck right before we get in, before we get
into the college games. One little piece of business.
Speaker 3 (16:27):
We had talked about this top one hundred of the NFL,
and I found out that the players voted on this
and it was strictly about last year's performances and for
the people that missed it. The top ten in order
from ten down at Kyle called Patrick Sartain, the great
cornerback from Denver as ten, Justin Jefferson, Miles, Garrett, Derreck, Henry,
(16:49):
Joe burrow.
Speaker 4 (16:49):
Is six, Mahomes at five, Chase for Allen three.
Speaker 3 (16:55):
Jackson two, and Yes, the bat who had the best
season in the history of writing back, Saquon Barkley number one,
twenty five hundred rushing yards including playoffs, which is a record,
twenty eight fifty yards and scrimmage including playoffs, which is
also a record. So that gave the Eagles nine of
the top seventy uh My Lata sixty nine, the Gene sixty,
(17:20):
Mitchell forty nine, Carter forty three.
Speaker 4 (17:23):
I guess he's still forty three even after they it's
the other a j.
Speaker 3 (17:28):
Brown twenty nine, Zackbaond twenty six, Lane Johnson twenty three,
Jalen Hurts nineteen, and Saquon won.
Speaker 4 (17:35):
So that gives the Eagles five of the top thirty. Yep.
Speaker 5 (17:38):
And I think the next best team favor to win
the Super Bowl. Yeah, I think the next best team
had like six? Where were Storry Kenry at nine?
Speaker 2 (17:46):
Where were Storry Kenny?
Speaker 4 (17:47):
I'm sorry? Seven?
Speaker 2 (17:48):
Okay?
Speaker 4 (17:50):
Awesome?
Speaker 2 (17:50):
Yeah, because he only had almost that.
Speaker 4 (17:53):
He had a phenomenal year for the Ravens. They said
he was done. Maybe not turned out to be incorrect information.
Speaker 3 (17:59):
In college, We'll go to Durham, North Carolina to start
today on ESPN at noon, ranked Illinois minus two and
a half against Manny dia as the former Penn State
DC and the Duke Blue Devils.
Speaker 4 (18:15):
David, we'll start with you at your thoughts, but.
Speaker 6 (18:16):
I could speak a little bit about who Duke played
last week, especially Elon come from the CIA. They're a
team that has really underperformed the last few seasons, but
they've always had a pretty good rushing attack. I think
they're better than we're the predicted to finish in the
CIA and which is kind of in the middle of
the pack. So forty five seventeen final score there. I
didn't think Duke looked all that great in that game,
to be honest with you. Illinois of course, coming off
(18:38):
of the fifty two to three blowout win against Western Illinois.
But I do like Illinois in the spot on the road.
I don't think Duke looked that good against Elon last week.
Speaker 4 (18:47):
Mike pick on Illinois, Duke.
Speaker 2 (18:52):
Well, Illinois has everything to lose because the highest statement
ranked I think since two thousand and one. I don't
know a lot about Duke. Uh, the line is telling
you something, right, They're really only favored by two correct.
I would stay away, but I guess people must think
(19:13):
Duke has a shot if you're only two point underdog
at home.
Speaker 3 (19:17):
So yeah, I'm teah, I'm gonna take two plus the
two and a half. In recent years, Uh, they have
been very competitive at the top of the a SEC
and they've been really good at home.
Speaker 4 (19:27):
I mean they've beaten the better team in the ACC
at home in recent year.
Speaker 3 (19:30):
Daniel Jones, Yeah, Manny Diaz has done a good job
and his brief brief tenure there, He's only been there
for a year, but he picked up right where the
previous coaches left off. Previous coaches at Texas A and
m Now, so I'm gonna take the Blue Devils and
Christian Layton or plus two and a half. Kyle, you
gotta start on this.
Speaker 5 (19:46):
Yeah, I I'm kind of with Mike. I'm gonna stay
away here. I think they really are tempting you to
go with Illinois here, but I think that's a scary play.
I'm gonna stay away on this one right.
Speaker 3 (19:56):
Also at Nude on Fox, the Sye Hawk game in
aim Iowa State minus four over Iowa, Kyle will start.
Speaker 5 (20:06):
With, uh, Iowa has an electric offense. You're in and
you're out. Yes, I'm gonna ride with the home team here. Again,
minus four is a little dicey. I feel like they
should be favored by more, but I'm gonna go with
Iowa State at home.
Speaker 4 (20:22):
Kok So, Iowa State.
Speaker 3 (20:23):
Beat Kansas State and the opener in Dublin look good
doing it. It was kind of a weird game, but
two good big twelve teams. I'm taking the home team. Look,
you can make a career out of better against Iowa.
Speaker 5 (20:34):
Yeah, they always have a good defense, but yeah, I
mean it's just it's just silly. It's a miracle if
they get double digits.
Speaker 2 (20:41):
Good.
Speaker 3 (20:41):
Look, Kirk Farrence has been there forever. He's probably the
longest ten You're coaching Division one. Now I would sick,
uh and I think you should have retired like five
years ago. So I'll take my man Campbell and Iowa State.
Speaker 4 (20:51):
Mike.
Speaker 2 (20:53):
Yeah, well they look not guy with too much because
they did give us Cooper the gene, so that's true.
You know, they did that Iowa State one eleven games
last year, first time ever. They lost a fair amount.
But man, I was a little surprised. I'm not like
real if they won that game in Ireland, because you know,
(21:15):
Kansas State's pretty good.
Speaker 1 (21:17):
They are.
Speaker 2 (21:18):
I could not I could not take Iowa in this spot.
So I would either take Iowa State or not bet
the game. I can't take the hawk eys. I just
I can't do that.
Speaker 6 (21:27):
David don't want to keep going with the favorites. But
I was really impressed by them in that game against
Kansas State. Something that I wanted to point out. Three
for three on fourth downs, made some big plays late
in that game, and hold on. I like I was
staying here as well, especially at home.
Speaker 3 (21:39):
Here's the big game of the day at noon, BGN
gets number one and number two back to back.
Speaker 4 (21:44):
Number two.
Speaker 3 (21:44):
Penn State again minus forty three against FIU. Last week
there were minus forty three and had it covered until
a late touchdown from whoever.
Speaker 4 (21:55):
The hell they played. I don't even remember anymore.
Speaker 3 (21:58):
Nevada, Mike, I know you're impressed by Penn State schedule.
Uh do you think the Nittney Alliance can cover the
forty three?
Speaker 2 (22:05):
Well, I'm impressed by their team. I think they're probably
as good as anybody, But the schedule is what the
schedule is. Again, Dicky, I'm not taking FIU. I mean,
the Knicks should have covered last week like you said
they had to, and probably it'll be the same kind
(22:27):
of game. They'll be up by forty, you know, it'll
be the fourth quarter and then the guys decided that
we want to win by fifty. But I could not
take if anything, I probably would take Penn State this
week because they're not looking ahead.
Speaker 4 (22:42):
The Nova probably not. That's that's that's that's the one
to oh FU Panthers. Who did they be? That's what
I want to know. Was it an FCS squad? Was
it a squad? Bethune Enough said, what was the score?
Speaker 3 (23:00):
John Cheney's alamater, which, by the way, Mike, I drove
by when I was at Daytona Beach last year for
basketball and thought of coach Chaney the great man himself.
Speaker 4 (23:09):
David, you gotta thought.
Speaker 2 (23:10):
They have like they have like a plaque or something
up there, John.
Speaker 4 (23:13):
Should they should? No question, David. For me, forty two
and a half is a lot.
Speaker 6 (23:19):
I didn't think Penn State looked all that great last
week against Nevada. We'll see what happens today. But I mean,
Penn Sin's obviously gonna win this game, There's no doubt
about it. I mean, they're gonna crush FIU. But it's
a question of how much I don't know. Last week
they didn't impress me.
Speaker 4 (23:32):
I agree.
Speaker 6 (23:33):
You know, next week playing nobody, you know they're gonna
try to win this game, obviously by as many as
they can.
Speaker 4 (23:38):
Yep, it's gonna be in the forty summer.
Speaker 6 (23:39):
I think the question just how much I don't like
I said, I don't think Penn State looked all that
great last week to impress me here.
Speaker 3 (23:44):
Yeah, it's a question now Penn State, are they showing nothing?
And that's possible. It's a good point for three games
because then they have a week off and they play
Argon in the white Hat game. KYLEI your thoughts on
Penn State minus forty three again?
Speaker 5 (23:56):
Yeah, dead silence, it says it all. That's actually a
really good point.
Speaker 2 (24:04):
Art.
Speaker 5 (24:04):
How much are they actually showing here in these games?
You would hope nothing, You would hope nothing. It's dicey.
I'm obviously not gonna take FIU here, so I'll go
with Penn State one more week to cover the forty
plus point spread.
Speaker 4 (24:17):
All right, I'm gonna pass on this game. Two o'clock.
Oh that was an option.
Speaker 3 (24:21):
Yeah, we're all heading to the lake right after this. Mike,
I don't know if you can get air in time,
but no, you'll do your best. Temple minus twenty five
and a half.
Speaker 4 (24:29):
It's up to twenty six and a half. Twenty six
and a half at bed Parks.
Speaker 3 (24:33):
The artists talking about it in the last fifteen minutes
over the Howard Bison.
Speaker 4 (24:37):
This is on ESPN Plus. Mike's have got your app? Out.
You can check it out on your drive up. Mike. Here,
we'll let our two Temple grands start. Mike your first.
Speaker 2 (24:48):
Well, look, how is not winning the game? I mean
I thought K C. Cure will make a difference because
Casey's a winner and he's been a winner everywhere he's gone. Now,
how much much of a difference can you make in
your first year of Temple. I have no clue, but
I you know, I can't take Howard. So if I'm
going to take and Temple sometimes at home will roll
(25:11):
some of these teams like a Howard even when they had.
Speaker 4 (25:14):
A little advantage. It's a huge home field as well.
Speaker 2 (25:17):
There is, and you know that and we're well aware
of that. I mean, if I was going to take
a side, and I'm not thrilled with laying twenty five
with the hour or twenty six, but I would have
to take the ol because I just they're going to
score some points in this game. They're going they're probably
going to get up into the high thirties or forties.
I would imagine, Uh, if they did last week, why
(25:38):
not this week? I don't know, it's Howard's better than you.
Mess like this. I don't have to fin clue.
Speaker 4 (25:45):
This is getting out of scene. It's now up to
twenty eight. As we said, here some money, you're flying
in on money's flying in on Temple.
Speaker 2 (25:55):
They hurt college. How was that possible?
Speaker 3 (25:58):
It was literally a ten minute ago it was twenty five.
I can tell you how it's possible. Until ten minutes ago,
there was four dollars bet on this game. If somebody
just spent one hundred.
Speaker 5 (26:07):
Well, people are piling into into parks heading to the
sports making betting temple, the home team.
Speaker 4 (26:11):
Oh my god, Uh Kyle, that gives it? You give
it to twenty eight? Now, well I was going to
give the twenty five, but now it's a little Dutch,
really mean middle this thing. Yeah, take the twenty five,
you know what talk about honestly going to take the points?
Here go with Howard.
Speaker 5 (26:27):
I'm gonna take the bikes in here. I'm going to
gamble here. I don't want to get too high on
my Temple. I was a huge win last week, but
you know, let's settle down a little bit.
Speaker 4 (26:34):
Championship. He's not in the conversation.
Speaker 2 (26:37):
Give you ever take Kyle? Have you ever taken Howard
in your life?
Speaker 4 (26:41):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (26:42):
No, is this the first time you've ever taken Howard.
Speaker 5 (26:45):
No, I've listened to Howard Jones in the past, but
never taken Howard football.
Speaker 4 (26:50):
So let's let's see. Here's paying. Who's the most famous
modern alaw of Howard University?
Speaker 2 (26:57):
Oh god, I should notice pretty famous. Obama Harvard.
Speaker 4 (27:07):
Law School in Columbia for undergrad Tabla House, Kamala Harris.
There you go, ran for president. Okay, so he was
in the right wheelhouse. Yeah, so yeah, you work.
Speaker 2 (27:17):
I was in the right I was in the right neighborhood. Y.
Speaker 4 (27:21):
Very impressive, it's impressive. A couple more before we get
to a break.
Speaker 3 (27:26):
Oregon minus twenty eight at home against Oklahoma State CBS game.
The coaches were feudig this week over my man. Mike
gund to us that a terrible.
Speaker 4 (27:36):
Year last year, said, I argued, just buying players, man,
No kidding. So is everybody else on this? They just
got more money than you do.
Speaker 3 (27:44):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (27:45):
I'll take Oregon minus twenty eight. They'll try to run
up the score. Kyle. Yeah, I'm with you on this.
When you gotta go Oregon here, David, I'm in agreeance
ore Agon across the border. That one was pretty simple. David.
Speaker 3 (27:56):
I don't think I asked you about the Owls. Do
you ever thought on the Owls? But I'm gonna do
what you did earlier in pass.
Speaker 6 (28:02):
But I will say, I mean, Casey killer Is is
at least giving them relevance to be talking about. I
mean here on the show. Absolutely in the city of Philadelphia.
So he's doing something right.
Speaker 5 (28:09):
I'm now getting one. I'm now getting death threats because
I took Howard. It's it's unbelievable.
Speaker 4 (28:14):
Well, you should like Ducks. The Ducks giving twenty eight.
Speaker 2 (28:18):
To the States just wrent up to thirty. The did Oregon?
Did Oregon play last week?
Speaker 4 (28:27):
They did it? They state Montana State again.
Speaker 2 (28:32):
It's amazing to me how much Oklahoma State has dropped.
This was a pretty good program a few years ago.
And I know Oregon gives a lot. I could not
play Oklahoma State. So if I if I was going
to play aside, you gotta play the Ducks. Who you know,
obviously in two weeks that's going to be a huge
(28:52):
game in state college. Yeah, I mean, and you know
they roll it up. I mean they're not you know,
they're not astir Yeah.
Speaker 3 (29:01):
I'll run it up at ESPN two, three thirty. This
is a good game renew of an old rivalry. Missouri
at home minus five and a half over Kansas.
Speaker 4 (29:10):
On ESPN two.
Speaker 3 (29:12):
Missouri last week with the debut of former Penn State
quarterback Boat for Bula, and he was terrific for the Tigers.
Speaker 4 (29:19):
Mich will start with you Missouri, which has been a
very good.
Speaker 3 (29:23):
SEC team the last couple of years against Kansas, which
is a solid big twelve team.
Speaker 2 (29:28):
Yeah, this is I believe the first time it's being
played on Kansas since like twenty eleven. The series. This
is like a blood battle many many many years ago
until they Missouri left. I think it's only four and
a half, he.
Speaker 4 (29:45):
Said, about five and a half is what I saw.
Speaker 2 (29:48):
I think I would have to mean too. I would
have to lean towards Missouri. And maybe that's because but
he I mean, Kansas is a decent team. It's not
like they're not quarterback I three. Missouri is one of
Missouri's won those teams sick you alluded to it. They've
been pretty good. When you're pretty good in the SEC,
you're not Alabama, you're not Georgia, you're not this or
(30:09):
not that. But they played in the title game. I
think maybe like three years ago they won their divisions.
Oh man, yea, I would take the Missouri's.
Speaker 3 (30:19):
I'm taking I got no problem with Missouri. I love
Kansas quarterback. I'm taking them plus the five and a half.
Speaker 6 (30:24):
David, I honestly don't have too many thoughts about this, honestly.
Speaker 4 (30:27):
But it's ok Yeah.
Speaker 6 (30:28):
Jalen Daniels, I mean, he's been excellent him last week,
I think he had four touchdowns or something like that.
So just base off of that alone, I think Kansas
is a good shot in this one.
Speaker 5 (30:36):
Okay, God yeah, I like Jalen Daniels too. By the way,
Kansas is two and oh since they played in Week zero.
Speaker 4 (30:42):
That's right. Yeah, I like Kansas here with the points.
Speaker 3 (30:46):
One more and then we'll get to New Oklahoma Michigan
after the break. Florida at home minus eighteen and a
half against South Florida there one hundred and forty miles apart.
The problem here is South Florida had a great win
an opening week. They beat Boise at home. Quarterback showed
up late after a frat party, and it's been suspended
for the first half of the game. A fire and
(31:08):
Brown and the dj Lagway was a revelation when he
took over at Florida last year when they wanted to
fire the coach midway through the season.
Speaker 4 (31:16):
He was great. Mike Gators eighteen and a half in Gainesville.
Speaker 3 (31:20):
I think at South Florida without their starting quarterback for
a half.
Speaker 2 (31:24):
Yeah, I think Florida is one of those teams that
could contend if things go right. I mean, there's so
many teams the SECID that could contend. You know, things
go right and what you just said about the quarterback look,
and you know, the Gators would love to roll with
up on a team that they don't consider their equal,
as Florida would like to go up to there and
(31:45):
prove that they can do. I would probably, I don't
like the game. I would lean towards the Gators at home,
especially if that quarterback thing you were talking about that
can't be good.
Speaker 4 (31:56):
It can't be good.
Speaker 3 (31:56):
I have no idea the backup quarterback is, but my
guess is they'll play conservative as they can for a
half for trying to survive. I will take South Florida
plus the eighteen and a half. I watched their game
against Boise that was a legitimate Beatdoath of a top
twenty five that wasn't a fluke at all. They got
some guys that can play ball, and you know, guys
at South Florida are angry that they aren't recruited by Florida.
(32:19):
They're gonna be into it. David, what do you got?
Speaker 6 (32:21):
But I promise I'll pick a game or pick a
team definibly after the break in Oklahoma and Michigan. But
in this game, I like, I would say away from
the pass. But I mean Florida last week, I know
they played Lu. I mean they crossed them as they should.
Speaker 4 (32:34):
And we all found out like Lu had football last week.
Speaker 2 (32:38):
I know that.
Speaker 6 (32:40):
But they did a really excellent job their defense. I
was looking at it this morning. Gave up like eighty
just only eighty yards. They did everything right as they should.
Florida's gonna win this game. The question, obviously is how
many points by I would I would pass? But Florida
is a really good team, and I think we're gonna
see that again this time.
Speaker 4 (32:56):
The SEC's loaded? Is it always just cow? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (32:58):
I think if Florida's gonna be a real contender this year,
they have a gauntlet coming up, so they are I
think they're gonna try and run up the score here,
get out of there quick and early, because their remaining
schedule is brutal coming up, LSU, Miami, Texas coming up
on the horizon. So I think if they've a chanced
to run it up here, they will.
Speaker 3 (33:20):
I got you all right. You're listening to sports here, there,
and everywhere. We're going to Oklahoma, Michigan. If Mike kenk type,
we'll get to Oklahoma, Michigan after the break. You're broadcasting
live from the Parks Casino Sportsbook in ben Sale. I
brought to you exclusively by the Bet Parks Casino and
Sportsbook app. Or it's bet slots and games all come
together right in your pocket, sportsbook and casino in one.
(33:40):
I've got a Betparks dot Com the only app I recommend.
It must be twenty one in an engine, PA Maryland, Ohio,
Michigan Gambling Problem one eight hundred gambler. We got some
more college football coming up. We got the NFL at
the top of the hour, and I've got a couple
of other topics that we're going to get to. We
gotta talk about this Kawhi Leonard madness from the other day,
we'll get Sean an artist back in the studio in
(34:01):
on that. The Phillies now the six game lead over
the Mets, and maybe as importantly, they have a four
game lead over the Dodgers for the second best record,
which you'll get them clipped.
Speaker 4 (34:11):
They'll have to sit out the first round of the
playoffs if they can hold that.
Speaker 3 (34:15):
And Tray Turner leads the National League in batting three
oh five, Mike, the last Phillies batting champion.
Speaker 4 (34:21):
Was Is he gone? He disappeared on me.
Speaker 5 (34:29):
He said hang. You said, hang, so he's hanging. I
did all right, Well, it's not used to him listening.
Speaker 3 (34:33):
That's a good point we'll ask. We'll ask that question
after the break. We'll we'll answer that question. We'll be
back right after this.
Speaker 1 (34:42):
Spreads totals and all the prop that's in between.
Speaker 4 (34:45):
It's the gambler. N put those breaks on sports here, there,
and everywhere.
Speaker 3 (35:05):
We're podcasting live for the Parks Casino is Sportsbook and
Ben Sale.
Speaker 4 (35:09):
I'm brought to your Biden.
Speaker 3 (35:11):
Parks Casino at Sportsbook aff Dectaraty along with Kyle Nnamaker,
David Shapanski Here at the Sportsbook, Mike Current in the
car Mike before we went to break. I was done
a little baseball. I mentioned the Phillies now six game
lead over the Mets. It has importantly four over the Dodgers.
Trey Turner is now at three oh five. He had
four more hits last night. He leads the National League
(35:32):
in batting. Do you know who the last Phillies batting
champion was?
Speaker 2 (35:38):
I was going to say Pete Rose. Incorrect, Okay, good,
I thought in nineteen seventy nine he led the last batting.
Speaker 3 (35:48):
Champion, Legendary Philip, Legendary Philadelphia.
Speaker 2 (35:56):
God Well, Richie Ashburn.
Speaker 3 (35:58):
Thank you, nineteen fifties like he was fifty eight. That's
how long it's been the Phillies have had a batting champion.
This is crazy. In the National League, right Turners first
at three oh five. Second is sal Frailic from the Brewers.
He's their right fielder, had two ninety seven, an awesome season. There,
(36:18):
it's only one guy three.
Speaker 4 (36:21):
It's funny. I was looking at this the other day.
Speaker 5 (36:23):
I'm like the fact that there's only six players in
the MLBAM that are over three hundred.
Speaker 4 (36:28):
That's correct.
Speaker 3 (36:29):
The sport is dying, dick indeed, anyway, the Phillies are
in a good spot. They roughed up the Marlins last night.
And the thing that's been most impressive to me is
the outfield is starting to become a serious factor. Oh yeah, right,
like last night, all three out theresers homered. Uh, Marsh
Fader's been a revelation. He's been over three hundred since
(36:49):
he's he's been phenomenal, and he's so much better on
defense than anybody they ever put out there.
Speaker 4 (36:54):
And and the and my man Gabe Kapler aka Kepler.
Speaker 2 (37:00):
I just.
Speaker 3 (37:02):
He had another home run last night. And Scott is
really playing. He had a home run last night. So
if that continues into the playoffs, if the bottom four
is going to do that, this is a dangerous squad,
even without their best player and to my opinion, its
greatest Harper and Schwarborough. Zach Wheeler was the best player
on the team. But we'll not see it. But anyway,
(37:24):
we'll get into all that at a later time.
Speaker 4 (37:26):
All right, final college game that I have and I
do want to review last week in a second.
Speaker 3 (37:31):
Seven point thirty ABC tonight, two ranked teams Oklahoma trying
to get some national respect back minus five over Michigan
with their young freshman quarterback, who remember was ticketed to
LSU until Michigan came in late. I guess with all
the money, Bryce Underwood, Mike, what do you think Sooners
(37:52):
and the Wolverines tonight in Norman?
Speaker 4 (37:54):
Minus five for the ye home.
Speaker 2 (37:55):
Team sea the observation I was going to make. And
we saw the guy from Texas struggle mightily last week
against a great team, you know, to Ohio State. We
saw the guy from Clemston struggle in a home loss
to LSU, which is again very good team. It's amazing
to me how many really good quarterbacks there are in
(38:16):
college football. Like, you almost can't be good if you
don't have a good quarterback. The Oklahomas they have a
good quarterback. We're gonna find out if the Michigans do too.
This is a tough game because I mean you almost
want to go with Oklahoma at home and Michigan's got
the young quarterback and all this. I might lean towards
(38:38):
the Michigans here getting a five and a half, just
because I think it could be a pretty good game.
Speaker 3 (38:44):
I think twenty one is going to be a big
number in this game. I would go under and up
at the points. I just don't think there's gonna be
a lot of points scored. I think it could be
a little like, maybe not as ridiculous as Ohio State
Texas last week. I mean that was subsurd at fourteen
to seven. But yeah, I'll take Michigan and plus the points.
Speaker 6 (39:00):
David, I thought I might have been the only one
at the table, but I'm going with Michigan as well.
I mean, last week they crossed New Mexico and they
still had eight penalties in that game. But they didn't
have those eight penalties, which hurt them significantly. In my opinion,
they would have, I mean absolutely blew out New Mexico
even more than what they did so and I feel
like every time you go against Michigan in a big game,
they kind of hurt you, right, they always kind of
prove everybody wrong. Silence the doubter ors. So I'll go
(39:22):
with Michigan here on the road. We'll see how good
Oklahoma's quarterback is.
Speaker 3 (39:25):
And look, last year they had a Class A defense.
This year they have a Class A plus defense, and
now they look like they have some subletce of an offense,
which they did not have last year. Oklahoma, to me,
is still in progress, Like is bread Veder was going
to get this done or not?
Speaker 4 (39:41):
They could be really good, right right, We don't a
lot of questions. We don't know yet.
Speaker 3 (39:45):
They're in a brutal league, and I love the fact
that they're playing this game. It's very cool that they're
playing it.
Speaker 4 (39:50):
But there's a lot of heat on the coach down
there and they're looking ahead.
Speaker 3 (39:54):
Yeah, but the and there's no heat at Michigan other
than the fact that they got to pay thirty million.
But who cares that pocket change in today's college football world?
Speaker 4 (40:03):
Kyle, you got a thought on this Oklahoma minus a nickel?
Speaker 5 (40:05):
Uh yeah, just because Michigan's defense is so good and
it's going to be a low scoring game. The totals
forty three and a half, so that to that point,
I think five is a little high. So just looking
at the numbers here, I'm gonna lean Michigan in that
defense just to cover. Not saying they're going to win
the game, but I just like the number to cover.
Speaker 3 (40:27):
So let's review from last week. Let's first start at
the game where everybody was talking about. Alabama goes into
Tallahassee's a two touchdowns favorite.
Speaker 4 (40:36):
And looked awful, I mean just looked off, Mike. Are
you surprised my man Kalen Debor is still employed?
Speaker 2 (40:44):
Well, look, whoever was going to replace Shaban, that's not
the guy you want to be. You just don't. It's
now you're not the guy to you want to be
the second or third guy. So look, they've lost four
games in his fourteen games, all to unranked opponents, all
when they were favored by fourteen or more. How do
(41:05):
you think that's playing in Tuscal? Loser?
Speaker 4 (41:07):
Not well?
Speaker 2 (41:09):
Not well. So I'm just saying if this season, they
don't look like they're gonna be like an eleven and
one team, right, So if they're a nine in three
or eight and fourteen, I think he could be in trouble.
I think some guy at Alabama will say, hey, I'm
writing a check, let's go somewhere, let's get Belichick whatever.
Speaker 4 (41:30):
I don't know Belichick.
Speaker 2 (41:31):
Those people don't know what it's like. Yeah, those people
don't know what it's like to go ten and two,
you know, let alone whatever. And their schedule. I'm assuming
they're gonna have three or four games this year that
there really you know, tough games.
Speaker 4 (41:47):
So i don't know.
Speaker 2 (41:47):
I mean, I mean, look, nobody knew who this guy
was before the last couple of years of Washington. Right
then they put together the one great year. I don't
know if this guy's any good or not. But you're
in the league Georgia. You're in a league with Tennessee
or in the league with Florida, Texas, Oklahoma. Who am
I leaving out? I mean there's another LSU.
Speaker 4 (42:09):
You know, it's brutal.
Speaker 2 (42:10):
You gotta be good, man, you gotta be good.
Speaker 4 (42:13):
Yeah, it's interesting.
Speaker 3 (42:14):
I don't think Alabama has like the money guys that
like Texas, A and M has in Texas and some
of these schools. By now, they don't have that kind
of a sports program. It's all about football, that's it.
They only have fifteen sports. They're not even serious about it.
Any football that's all they care about. And basketball has
been very good the last few years, just because they
got a great coach and he got some players. I
(42:36):
don't know what's gonna happen, but man, it could get
really ugly in a hurry. I mean, not only did
they look they look bad, they looked uninterested against Florida State.
Speaker 6 (42:47):
David, would you say it they had no rushing attack
in that game either. Yeah, I mean it's a it's
a tough schedule. I really like what Mike said there.
Speaker 4 (42:53):
I mean the heat. I agree. I think it's gonna
come on pretty hot. And I agree with you.
Speaker 6 (42:58):
I mean, it was what a fourteen point game of thing,
it was all said and done, but I mean it
didn't even look that club getting it really wasn't competitive
and they have a lot to prove this.
Speaker 4 (43:07):
Week against the two in ten team.
Speaker 3 (43:09):
Then a transfer quarterback from Boston College who was talking
smack against Alabama all summer and they come in and
he just fatchs it up and they win the game.
I mean, crazy, Kyle, your thoughts on the future of
calender boor if he has one.
Speaker 5 (43:24):
Yeah, I mean it's gonna be really interesting to Mike
Current's point. I mean, look at, you know, the powerhouse
as you're going against. This is also an Alabama team
that was, you know, bitching and complaining that they didn't
make the playoffs last year. Yep, and then you come
out and put up a game like this. Another interesting
tidbit of that game, losing by fourteen and you won
the turnover battle.
Speaker 4 (43:46):
Not good.
Speaker 5 (43:47):
They got some trouble. They got some trouble there in Alabama.
Speaker 2 (43:50):
I think I don't have a schedule in front of me.
I think they have Georgia coming up in a couple weeks.
I'm not okay. They beat you last year. It was
a great game early in the year, went back and forth.
Georgia is going to want to kick their asstely because
Georgia don't like that stuff. And you know, do I
(44:12):
think Alabama can beat Georgia right now? I doubt it.
You know, a lot of things can happen. Yeah now.
And then look, I gave Alabama credit. They went down
and played Florida State. And when that game was scheduled,
Florida State, Florida State. You know they could have went
out and played that BYU. So I give them credit
for doing that. But man, if you're going if I
(44:33):
was an SEC team, I'm gonna tell you right now,
I'd schedule three Villanova's. I would because I'm gonna play
four or five. Yeah, and you know, uns H goes
and plays Clemson. I mean, god, you don't have to
go play Clemson.
Speaker 4 (44:49):
But they did, and and you know a couple other
thoughts about last week.
Speaker 3 (44:54):
So Arch Manning came into the high stake game, is
the greatest quarterback prospect in the history college football, and
by the end of the first quarter he was above
This is how things work these days. Here's what I
thought watching him play, And I didn't have an opinion
one way or another because I've never seen him play.
Out of the few games here and there with Texas.
Speaker 4 (45:13):
He looked lost. His form was terrible.
Speaker 3 (45:17):
His passes were just short or off target. That's hard
to believe he could be that bad. But here was
the question I always had, if he was the greatest
quarterback in history, why in the hell was he not
playing the last two years ahead a very average gwinn
Viewers and the coaches are seeing this guy practice every
(45:38):
day and he couldn't get on the field.
Speaker 4 (45:40):
That was always to me a bit of a red flag.
Speaker 3 (45:42):
But I'm also not gonna end the guy's career off
of one terrible game either.
Speaker 4 (45:47):
Mike your thoughts.
Speaker 2 (45:49):
I did not see the game. I was on the
golf course trying to make bogies. Of course, the Ohio
State is Ohio State defense. Why are you that good?
I mean, I have he was terrible.
Speaker 4 (46:00):
I mean, guys were open. He just kept missing it.
I mean, he was bad. And look, credit Ohio State.
That's fine.
Speaker 3 (46:06):
I mean they're they're really good, they have great players.
But it was a bad game, Matt. Frankly, it was ugly.
It was almost unwatchable, David, I.
Speaker 4 (46:16):
Did see it.
Speaker 6 (46:16):
He looked nervous really to me, I mean, and I
understand in that environment it was tough to go into.
But like you said, when you have all the hype
around in that situation, at least live up to it
better than scoring seven points. I really thought Texas was
lucky to not get embarrassed in that game. The fact
that their defense was able to hold Ohio State a
little bit there. So absolutely, that was one of the
biggest takeaways for me. But he definitely looked nervous. He
looked indecisive, and that was not something you expected when
(46:38):
they had so much time to come in and prepare
for this game.
Speaker 2 (46:40):
I get it.
Speaker 6 (46:41):
I know that it's a tough environment, but I expected
much better. And again, similar what were talking about earlier
with Alabama. There's a lot for Texas to prove, I think,
especially with Manning at the helm.
Speaker 3 (46:48):
Oh Absolutely, and look, nerves can even get in a
way of fundamentals, but he looked fundamentally unsound. If you
watch good quarterbacks, we all know what it looks like.
It didn't look like he'd ever played the position out
at all.
Speaker 2 (47:00):
What did you say, here's the good news, though, here's
the good news.
Speaker 5 (47:08):
Yeah, I mean it's such a high prospect like that,
you feel like nerves wouldn't affect him that much in
that in that environment. To that point, you know, I'll
give it to him. You know, Week one, you're going
up against Ohio State. Now, you have three games to
kind of settle down before you go into Florida. If
he goes into Florida and looks even remotely close to
what he looked like last week, and then I'm gonna
(47:29):
start to, you know, scratch my head a lot.
Speaker 3 (47:31):
I'm gonna throw out a guy right now as my
top quarterback prospect in college. He's not eligible for the
draft this year, and I probably should see a little
more before I say this, but I love Dylan ray
Old and quarterback in Nebraska. Oh yeah, he was so
smooth in their opener. I mean, he'd looked like an
NFL quarterback. He looked like he was coached that way.
(47:51):
He played that way. His fundamentals were perfect. That watch out,
that's all. I don't know how good the rest of
their team is. They barely want me opener, but they
did win. We know Matt Rule is a good coach,
but keep an eye on that kid. I think he's
got to check Mahomes. Two point zero.
Speaker 4 (48:06):
He's got a chance to be great. Right, they won
an arrow ahead. He is Mahomes. He even as Mahomes
his number and his aircut. Other than that, uh so.
A couple other thoughts from last the first week of
the season.
Speaker 3 (48:18):
Mike, we all kind of have been knocking our man
Brian Kelly, but major credit goes into Clemson as a dog.
Speaker 4 (48:25):
We all picked Clemson. He won the game, out right,
What do you think?
Speaker 2 (48:30):
Yeah, did you see what happened? First of all, real quick,
Lee Corso got it, and you know what the picture
to have been last week. I was going to get
to him.
Speaker 4 (48:38):
I was gonna get to him.
Speaker 2 (48:39):
Just relaxed. I'm sorry. I'm sorry that whoever he picked
is who I should have tinted, because he wasn't going
to get the last one wrong.
Speaker 4 (48:47):
He got he didn't get the last one wrong. He
got North Carolina wrong.
Speaker 2 (48:53):
I'm talking about we had another one. Okay, I'm sorry.
Speaker 4 (48:57):
He went six and oh one Saturday and then lost.
Speaker 2 (49:00):
I thought I thought that was the last one. Okay, yeah,
what happened afterwards? You? So, Dadlos Swiney has his press
conference and said, so, I'm like, yeah, I think we
had like a fifty eight games, and he basically took
a shot at LSHA. I don't know if he meant
to take a shot, and then Brian Kelly says, yeah,
what's it talking about? We won the game? But anyway,
(49:22):
I was so impressed, and I guess maybe LSU was
due to win one. They lost five straight openers. But
to go to Death Valley, to go to the other
death Valley and beat the potential Heisman Trophy and they
got a Hudmand Trophy kind of guy too. But and
to give up ten points on the roads. Yeah, I was,
(49:45):
you know, I do I think LSU is going to
go twelve and no? No, But I mean that's the game.
Clemson can recover from that game because Clemson's still either
they're going to either beat the best in the ACC
or to be them in Miami or Devers. Yeah, so
tell us you that's a huge win. For l s U,
because if they're going to be in the playoffs, you know,
(50:05):
that's a game that taking point to, you know, come
November and say hey, we went there and won, so
you know, good for them.
Speaker 3 (50:13):
Yeah, No, I looked at it this way. I didn't
think Sweeney was wrong and what he said. I didn't
think either team looked very good.
Speaker 4 (50:18):
That's what he did.
Speaker 2 (50:19):
I didn't.
Speaker 4 (50:19):
Yeah, yeah, look, we're both better than this. Probably, I mean,
I didn't hear.
Speaker 3 (50:25):
I don't know what the context was to say we're
both better than this, but man, LSU was way better
than we were in the second half.
Speaker 4 (50:30):
Probably would have been a better way to say it.
And maybe did say that. I don't know. Yeah, I
didn't hear the rest of it. David, did you see
that game LSU? Clempson.
Speaker 6 (50:39):
I saw a little bit of it, honestly, some of
the highlights. I was impressed blay LSU from what I saw.
But I'm not saying anything new here, by the way,
but you know, it just seems like a lot of
these games and defenses were much better than the offense,
and that's what it is in you know, week one
in this part of the season. So I think to overreact.
I think it's tough. I mean, you know, going back
to archbating, I wasn't impressed. But as Kyle said, you know,
it is still really early on in season. But on
(51:00):
the clips I saw me and LSU, you know, look
pretty good. And like you said, I mean, to only
give up ten points in Clemson press is extremely impressive
and hard to do.
Speaker 3 (51:08):
They got this is the best roster, Kelly said, since
he's been there by far. And look, these days, it's
hard to evaluate anybody off of what happened last year.
Penn State's one of the few teams you can do
that because most of their players came back. But it
just it's so hard and you better start paying attach Kyle.
Any major takeaways from Week one last week.
Speaker 5 (51:28):
No, just to piggyback off of what David was saying
beating a dead horse here, it's more so a product
of just applauding LSU for what they did rather than
dumping on Clemson for having a bad game.
Speaker 7 (51:38):
Yep, but nothing else other than Jansen with that Virginia
Tech pick. Yeah, so we yeah, we got we gotta
we gotta nail Jansen. So a couple a couple of
things we got right. We certainly got a few wrong.
Last week we were all all.
Speaker 3 (51:53):
Over South Carolina goains Virginia Tech and it took a
while Doug to get South Carolina going, but once they
got going, they dominated the back.
Speaker 2 (52:01):
Ye for a while.
Speaker 3 (52:04):
Yeah, Virginia Tech. I was impression for Virginia Tech. They
played well, but it was US dominating. Jansen had a
blowout forget chance and in.
Speaker 4 (52:11):
The other game. This to me was the easy and
I got a bunch of games dead wrong. I got
used c l A. They were horrible.
Speaker 3 (52:18):
Uh, this North Carolina thing, that was the easiest pick
of the weekend for me. This whole Belichick nonsense. Obviously
he's a great coach, He's going through the Hall of Fame.
This is a totally different sport. And now it's not
only that, but my friend Michael.
Speaker 4 (52:34):
Barni, who I know, well, he's his GM. Now they're
they're not drafting players.
Speaker 3 (52:39):
They are now going into the portal into a sport
that they know nothing about to buy players late in
this in the whole deal and apparently they got a
bunch of redreads that can't play and TCUs a really
good team with a high class quarterback that game was
a total mismatch, and and it played out exactly that
(53:02):
way forty eight to fourteen. If I hear one more
person say, well, they have Belichick. When is the last
time he tackled somebody or threw a pass? Give me
a break with they had Belichick.
Speaker 5 (53:13):
By the way, his last few years in New England,
scouting wasn't It wasn't exactly all I have.
Speaker 3 (53:19):
Seen this play out in sports forever, where the legendary
coach or Aaron Rodgers going to the Jets. You can
there just happens over and over again. This guy's the savior. No,
this guy was the savior. David, you're too young for this.
Speaker 2 (53:33):
Mike.
Speaker 4 (53:33):
You'll remember Chris Webber comes to the Sixers, Chris Webber.
This is awesome. Now I stayed up.
Speaker 2 (53:39):
Later Sixers where there's that could be anybody that comes
to the Sixers.
Speaker 4 (53:44):
They got They did not get Hall of Fame Fab
five Chris Webber. They got old Chris Webber.
Speaker 5 (53:50):
Now, Chris Webber was gonna be the It was gonna
be the Kobe and Shack Chris Webber and Ai.
Speaker 4 (53:54):
You know, AI finally got his number.
Speaker 3 (53:56):
One time, idiots, one time, that greatest bet Sports bet
against that scenario.
Speaker 2 (54:02):
The one time it worked, tom Brady to the box. Yeah,
and and it worked.
Speaker 4 (54:09):
Here's the anomaly, tom Brady.
Speaker 3 (54:12):
I never I didn't say that about Tom Brady because
he was still playing at a very high level. Yeah,
I never said. You never heard me knock at Tom Brady,
and I never would. The guy was a freak show
of nature. But it's just the whole Belichick thing. They
play it Charlotte today. I don't know anything about Charlotte.
I wouldn't be shot if Charlotte wins. I would can you, Mike,
(54:34):
you should stop there on your way go to the game.
It'll be here, It'll be great.
Speaker 2 (54:39):
Uh what I think Kasey Kasey Keeler should have scheduled Belichick.
Speaker 4 (54:47):
No question.
Speaker 3 (54:48):
Anyway, You're not going to get that chance again. Where
TCU was fro tc was favored by like four. I
think they won forty eight fourteen, and it could have
been worse. I mean, North Carolina was hopeless and the
best part was they went down and scored on the
first drive and you could have gotten pick them, which
was even bet. I mean it was like field, It's
like are you serious? Pro and college football are back

Speaker 4 (57:48):
The rest of the week.
Speaker 3 (57:51):
US Open tennis Today the women's finals one Arena Satelleca
versus eight a man to Annasmova.
Speaker 4 (58:01):
Am I getting that right? Aasamobia from Freeport Free Freehold, New.
Speaker 3 (58:07):
Jersey, the home of Bruce sprigstea uh Sabalanca is minus
two o five.
Speaker 4 (58:15):
Amanda?
Speaker 3 (58:16):
Why I just say that is plus one seventy five.
I'll mess up her last name, Amanda.
Speaker 2 (58:22):
One.
Speaker 3 (58:22):
Beat Sabalanca into Wimbledon semi sixty four four sixty sixty
four and then went into the finals and got double bagel.
Speaker 4 (58:29):
She lost six oh six.
Speaker 3 (58:31):
Was nervous as hell, but the fact that she came
back and got to the finals of the US Open
is very impressive to me.
Speaker 4 (58:37):
Who do we like today? Were taking the dog were
taken a favorite Kyle oh Man, that sounds like Amanda
is very resilient. Yep. I'll take the plus money there
plus one, take the dog plus one. David. I know
you're a tennis guy.
Speaker 6 (58:52):
My extent to tennis is on we growing up, so
I'll stay out of the conversation.
Speaker 3 (58:58):
I'll take I'll take the girl from North Jers to
win our first major. I'm really impressed he could get
to the Wimbledon finals, beat Sabllec in the semis, lose
six to six to zero, and then come right back
and get to the finals again. Obviously, she's having a
hell of the summer, so I'm going there. The men's
final tomorrow. We all knew who was going to be
(59:19):
before it ever started. Alcoraz against Cinner. Alcarez knocked out
Djokovic and Straits Jokers amazing, but there's two players at
the moment he can't beat and beat everybody else, he
just can't beat Alcaraz or Center Centner's the favorite minus
one thirty Alcoraz plus one fourteen. I feel bad that
(59:41):
it's on a Sunday during the NFL where people can't
really be watching it, but man, what a great final
on ESPN tomorrow. I'll take Alcoraz the plus one fourteen
I did. I love watching him play. He's an awesome
Sinners obviously great too.
Speaker 4 (59:56):
Give me Alcoraz.
Speaker 5 (59:57):
I'll take double dogs too. I'll go Alcoraz plus one
four team and you know I might parlay that. You're
gonna parlay both both dogs, both dogs.
Speaker 3 (01:00:05):
A couple other thoughts, is anybody I mentioned this before
we came on the show.
Speaker 4 (01:00:12):
Is anybody in the.
Speaker 3 (01:00:12):
Listening audience, and this includes Sean who just found out
about it, aware that the Basketball Hall of Fame inductions
are tonight in Springfield, mass No.
Speaker 4 (01:00:22):
No, The answer is no, nobody, No crickets. Every year
they do this.
Speaker 3 (01:00:27):
Let's try to find a weekend where nobody is paying
attention because we have the NFL starting week one, we
have college football, we have baseball getting pennant races. Let's
have our let's have our Hall of Fame. Then ridiculous
great marketing from the NBA. Oh sir, Yeah, Carmelo Anthony
and Is twenty eight thousand points and national titles a
(01:00:49):
freshman at Syracuse are going in.
Speaker 4 (01:00:51):
He didn't want anything in the.
Speaker 3 (01:00:52):
NBA, but won a bunch of Olympic gold medals and
twenty eight thousand points.
Speaker 4 (01:00:56):
This is a serious number. Dwayne Howard first staff of
his career in Orlando was awesome.
Speaker 3 (01:01:02):
He was a multi time Defensive Player of the Year,
was the star player with Jamiir Nelson and Shard Lewis
and that crew that got to the NBA Finals nine.
He do Turklou really good team that may have won
the championship if Jamia hadn't gotten hurt midway through the season.
Speaker 4 (01:01:17):
They were thirty three and eight at.
Speaker 3 (01:01:19):
The All Star break that year and then Jamiir hurt
his shoulder, came back for the finals.
Speaker 4 (01:01:23):
Wasn't the same. Dwight Howard will be going into the
Hall of Fame.
Speaker 3 (01:01:26):
Fortunately for him, they forgot about the back end of
his career, which is a joke, as was he for
the first half.
Speaker 4 (01:01:31):
Was Hall of Fame worthy.
Speaker 3 (01:01:31):
And Billy Donovan two time national championship coach at Florida.
It's been a successful, if not great coach in the NBA,
but he's never had the best teams.
Speaker 4 (01:01:40):
He will also be going into the Hall of Fame.
Speaker 3 (01:01:42):
Sue Byrd, great player at Yukon and the w NBA
and Maya Moore, who might be the best best women's
player ever, also a Yukon player, had a great career
in the w NBA, will also be going into the
Hall of Fame.
Speaker 4 (01:01:54):
But again, a shame that nobody knows about it. It's
just like, what are we doing. It's almost like they're
ashamed of it. It's just it's the whole thing is bizarre.
Speaker 2 (01:02:03):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:02:04):
Again, before we get to the NFL, there was this
wild story that came out what two days ago Sean
I think earlier this week.
Speaker 4 (01:02:12):
Right, Pablo Torri uh came out with this wild story.
Speaker 3 (01:02:17):
Nobody's disputing most of the facts, which are that the
Clippers had a title sponsor named Aspiration uh, which apparently
their signages all over the place. They they spent like
three hundred million or some crazy number to be the
(01:02:38):
title sponsor the Clippers, and they're old. They were used
to be in what's now Cryptocom, I guess, and now
it's the two they were.
Speaker 4 (01:02:49):
They weren't playing where the Lakers play.
Speaker 3 (01:02:51):
Now they've moved into the to it the last year,
so they're this major title sponsor and and they've gone
belly up.
Speaker 4 (01:02:58):
It's a disaster.
Speaker 3 (01:03:00):
Steve Palmer, the owner of the Clippers invest at fifty million.
That's not why the story was written. The story was
written because it was a side deal made with aspiration
to pay Kawhi Leonard twenty eight million over four years,
seven million a year to do nothing, apparently a no
(01:03:20):
show job. Was almost like they were employing him as
like I'd go around Gladhan's other people.
Speaker 4 (01:03:26):
But he did nothing.
Speaker 3 (01:03:28):
And so the intimation is that this was a way
to get around the NBA salary cap, that this title sponsor,
which has now gone bankrupt and belly up, which is
why this has come out, was actually helping the Clippers
who just signed Kawhi Leonard for four years and one
hundred and seventy six million, to get him another twenty
(01:03:48):
eight mil. I mean, really, you got one seventy six
what do you need twenty eight for of it? That's
a whole other story.
Speaker 4 (01:03:55):
Sean, what do you think about this? You're our NBA
expert here. I think it's pretty unprecedented.
Speaker 8 (01:04:01):
I'm not exactly sure what the fix is from an
NBA perspective, but this is a huge deal.
Speaker 4 (01:04:06):
And the problem that like I struggle with a little
bit is you sort of.
Speaker 8 (01:04:09):
Have to find like the smoking gun, like, yes, you
know that this happened here, but figuring out like the intent,
Like Steve Balmer has already done his best to sort
of swing the story, and guys like Mark Cuban rising
to his defense saying like, if Balmer is as smart
as I think he is, he would not have let
this company go bankrupt because that's the whole reason that
this became available.
Speaker 4 (01:04:27):
He's trying to look like the victim as well. I
don't know.
Speaker 8 (01:04:30):
The bottom line to me is I think if you
look back at the Kawhi Leonard free agency and courting,
there are a lot of crazy requests being rumored at
the time, like one of the private jet from the
Lakers and the Raptors reportedly that he has for fifteen
million off the books there. So I think there's something
to the Kawhi Leonard side of things. There's got to
be some sort of punishment here. But I think we're
still in the beginning process what will be a full
(01:04:51):
scale investigation.
Speaker 3 (01:04:52):
Yeah, so Balmer is saying, you know, one of the
smartest guys in the world, top ten richest guys in
the world, saying he knew about it. Wait, look, I'm
not saying that's impossible. Obviously it's possible. The guy's involved
in a ton of things, and he invested fifty man
in this company. For guys like this, investing fifty man
is like us investing fifty cents. It's irrelevant. They have
so much money, and he blew the fifty million. Obviously
(01:05:15):
this company went back rupt. But and Bomber has said, look,
I knew nothing. It's not my problem. It's going to
be somebody's problem. I mean, somebody's got issues here, Kawhi,
his agent, somebody, Because clearly this twenty eight million was
money you should not have been getting.
Speaker 4 (01:05:29):
And the fact if it had been from some company
that was not at all.
Speaker 3 (01:05:32):
Associated with the Clippers, you might be able to say,
all right, that's fine, you can do whatever you want.
But the fact that they were the sponsor of the
squad and their signages all over the place.
Speaker 4 (01:05:42):
It just smells that it's not just a coincidence.
Speaker 3 (01:05:45):
That's the problem. Now, who knew what, when? If we'll
ever know that? To Shart's point, we don't know. But
it's a fascinating story and it's not over yet. And look,
everybody knows in the NBA that the top tier guys,
and there's like ten or fifty team of them that
everybody wants. They get all the money they can get,
plus they got other benefits that they're not supposed to get,
(01:06:08):
like and maybe they stay at the owner's palace for
a month in the offseason and nobody ever knows about it,
which is kind of a perf they shouldn't be getting.
But they're getting it, and the NBA just winks a
day or whatever. We can't worry about that, So we'll see.
It's interesting. We'll see how it plays out. But a
fascinating story to follow as we close in on the
(01:06:29):
NBA season. And we're not going to mention the team
that plays in this city. No NFL one PM tomorrow
will start in the Superdot Arizona on the road minus
six and a half at New Orleans with Kellen Moore
making his NFL head coaching debut.
Speaker 5 (01:06:52):
Kyle, we will start with you, Yeah, I see no
way that I can go with New Orleans here at home.
They're just gonna stink. They have no quarterback at the
rowing out Spencer Rattler. I feel bad for Kellen Moore,
you know, congrats on getting a head coaching job.
Speaker 4 (01:07:09):
By which it was better circumstances.
Speaker 5 (01:07:13):
It's kind of like a poop poo game for me
because I'm also not a huge fan of the Arizona Cardinals,
and I think very quickly Jonathan Gannon could be on
the hot seat if things don't go right early in
the season for Arizona. But I think the Saints are
just gonna be that bad. I'll take Arizona minus six.
Speaker 2 (01:07:30):
And a half here.
Speaker 4 (01:07:31):
I have no opinion on this guy, David.
Speaker 6 (01:07:34):
I like Arizona as well. I mean, as you said,
it alluded to a Kyle. I mean, this is the
big year for Jonathan Gannon, his third season. Mary. You know,
if he stays healthy, they could be, you know, a
playoff contender most definitely. So this is kind of the start,
you know, to try to prove people wrong in a sense.
Speaker 4 (01:07:50):
And I agree.
Speaker 6 (01:07:51):
I mean, if this thing goes awry quickly here, Gannon
could definitely be out. I mean, especially if you lose
to a team like New Orleans, who I just don't
think is very good.
Speaker 3 (01:07:58):
Yeah, Devin Moore goes of being with the best roster
in football to one of the worst. Yeah, they're terrible.
They don't know what they're doing down there. They're a mess.
They have no quarterback.
Speaker 4 (01:08:07):
H I get why. I remember they start out so
hot last year and they looked.
Speaker 3 (01:08:11):
Like the best team in football, and then it was
all a mirage. And interestingly, Arizona started off hot last
year and then they faded into it into oblivion. All right,
before we get to the next game. I need some
help here. I'm min a survivor pool.
Speaker 4 (01:08:24):
I am too, and I'll tell you who I talk. Yeah, So,
uh where should I take?
Speaker 5 (01:08:29):
I took Denver. They're the They're the logical squad. They're
the logical squad. And I know a lot of people
took the Eagles as well for the other night, and.
Speaker 3 (01:08:37):
That was we're freaking out after three seconds in jailing
Carter or six seconds when gets tossed.
Speaker 5 (01:08:43):
Yeah, and they should be starting to go fundme for
Ceedee Lamb to help them keep their uh yeah hopes alive.
But I think there's not many choices here. Week one
one's obviously the hardest to go for. But again, the
logical pick is Denver. So I'm gonna go with the
logical pick. You have a rookie quarterback with Tennessee. Tennessee again,
you talk about the Saints. Tennessee is the bottom of
(01:09:06):
the bottom. Denver was impressive. So Week one, you have
a rookie quarterback on a bottom of a bottom, bottom
tier team going two mile high.
Speaker 4 (01:09:16):
I just see no way that Tennessee can pull out
a way.
Speaker 3 (01:09:19):
Yeah. Look, I was a big fan of Cam Wards
in Miami, but you know he ain't playing clubs and
you're not playing at.
Speaker 4 (01:09:24):
North Carolina Denver, Bonnitz, I didn't realize this.
Speaker 3 (01:09:28):
Yeah, the second most touchdown passes by a rookie in
NFL history.
Speaker 4 (01:09:31):
That's pretty damn impressed that. And Denver's defense is legit.
Speaker 3 (01:09:35):
I mean they're like they're a playoff for the defense,
and they were unlucky not to make the playoffs last year.
Speaker 4 (01:09:42):
Yeah at ten and seven, I believe.
Speaker 3 (01:09:44):
Yeah, and then they had a kick blocked against Kansas
City late. I mean they were good. Sean Payton's a
terrific coach. Yep, as he's proved again, which is his
second It was his second year in Denver. The first
year was kind of ambassa year Russell Wilson didn't get alongs.
Speaker 5 (01:10:00):
I'm gonna go probably to what I mentioned. Tennessee's a
bottom tier two and.
Speaker 3 (01:10:03):
Tennessee stakes, right, and they're bad with a second year coach.
Their roster is just not very good. I suspect the
whole rest of my group is gonna go with him.
But who cares because there's no other game I feel
comfortable with.
Speaker 4 (01:10:15):
Yeah, don't try and get fancy week one. Yeah, just
get the week two and last week.
Speaker 3 (01:10:19):
Everybody got knocked out in Week one because he took
the Bengals at home against the Patriots.
Speaker 4 (01:10:24):
I was lucky.
Speaker 3 (01:10:24):
I took Seattle against Denver because I thought Denver would stink,
and they didn't stink that week, and they didn't stink.
Speaker 4 (01:10:29):
The rest of the weeks.
Speaker 3 (01:10:30):
I was lucky to get out of the Week one Jacksonville,
I know you've been looking forward to this minus three
and a half, I hope against Carolina.
Speaker 4 (01:10:37):
These are all the one o'clock games Jaguars.
Speaker 5 (01:10:40):
Yes, no, maybe, Yeah, this is one where I'm probably
gonna stay away from. But if I had to lean,
I would lean Jacksonville. This is another proven year, right,
Doug Peterson's gone. He was just terrible coach in Jacksonville.
The coaching Jackson Who is the coaching Jackson Somebody? He
did not have a good press conference. Yeah, that's right,
(01:11:02):
it's them, Yes from Houston, Tampa, Damp Tampa. Yeah, it
kind of seems like a little bit of a goofball.
But but I think this is a proven year for
Trevor Lawrence. Uh, you have a new head coach in there,
you have good surrounding, UH players on offense, a couple
(01:11:25):
of good players on defense. If this is a train
wreck again in Jacksonville, Trevor Lawrence, They're gonna have to
go in a different direction. I think you get Travis
Hunter in the draft. You still have one of the
brightest wide receiver young wide receivers at Brian Thomas Junior.
I'm gonna lean Jacksonville, but I'm not strong on that.
Speaker 4 (01:11:44):
I don't have a strong opinion on the game.
Speaker 3 (01:11:46):
Look, Carolina was very good down to stretch last year
by Shawn got bench, then he got back and he
was fine.
Speaker 4 (01:11:51):
He played well.
Speaker 3 (01:11:52):
I don't think that's an organization as any idea what
they're doing, the owner, the owners from the top, they're
just it's a cloud show. But he said that, I
have particularly confidence in Jacksonville either, So I'll take the
points in Carolina, but not a game I went to
hook that three and a half, well, not a game
I would bet two cents on.
Speaker 2 (01:12:08):
David.
Speaker 6 (01:12:09):
I don't have much of opinion on this one either,
but I will say I mean Jacksonville and just a
few years ago, this is a team that looked like
that they could really, you know, make a good run
for at least a few years in the AFC. And
you know, really just some injuries hurt them in Lawrence
just has it been consistent when he's been healthy. So
I agree, this is another really big year for the
quarterback for Lawrence and you know, now he has some
talent around him, which I don't necessarily think was the
(01:12:30):
case the last couple of years. This is a big
chance for him and the Panthers. I mean, it's hard
to be confident. Team like Carolina.
Speaker 3 (01:12:38):
They don't know what they're doing. I mean, clearly they
don't have and that starts from the top. Cincinnati minus
five and a half at Cleveland. Look, they got two
of the top ten players in a league, yeah, in
Burrow and Chase, but they have this bizarre was it
one in nine in the first two games over the
last five years. I like what I mean, it's just
such a How does that even happen, and Burrow played
(01:13:01):
in a lot of exhibition games this year. I assume
that was the reason. Yeah, to make that not happen again.
Cleveland's a trade wreck. I think Kevin Sabanska is a
good coach, but he's hampered by ownership. Their their clowns.
They don't know what they're doing. I'm taking Cincinnati. I
don't care that they were one in whatever. They're way
better than Cleveland. I'll lay the points.
Speaker 4 (01:13:22):
David.
Speaker 6 (01:13:22):
Yeah, I'm gonna go with Cincinnati as well. I agree
with that point about Burrow playing in the preseason game.
I mean, he even played against the Eagles, which was
the first preseason game, and a decent amount of time
as well. With that being said, but you know, they have,
like you said, two you know, top players in the NFL.
Burrow you know similar. I know I've kind of been
saying a lot, you know the show, but this is
another I don't necessarily want to say prove it year,
but they got to do something. Sure this year, Cincinnati,
(01:13:44):
you know, make the playoffs and make a run again.
They're definitely capable, but they have to get off to
a good start and maybe the preseason will pay off
for them, and I like Cincinnati a lot more than
I like Cleveland.
Speaker 4 (01:13:52):
Yeah, here's a key name to consider in Cincinnati. Al Gold.
Speaker 3 (01:13:56):
Al the former Temple head coach, was the DC at
Notre Dame last year. He's their new defense.
Speaker 4 (01:14:00):
It's a coordinator. God knows.
Speaker 3 (01:14:01):
He has to make them better because they've been They
were the worst defensive football. I mean, this is a
team would score thirty on command and they almost like
a half a dozen games when they scored thirty of one.
Speaker 4 (01:14:10):
Yeah, it's it's madness. You got a thought on this thing.
Speaker 5 (01:14:13):
Yeah, I think it's gonna be a little bit more
trickier than we think that. We obviously look at Cincinnati
and Cleveland. You're like, oh, Cincinnati, right, of course, but
knowing how Cincinnati comes out slow year in and year out,
believe it or not, Joe Flacco is an upgrade at
quarterback from Deshaun Watson. It's early in the year, so forty.
He's not eight year old. Joe Flacco's not winded yet.
(01:14:37):
So I'm still gonna go Cincinnati minus five and a half.
But I'm not as confident as some people might be.
Speaker 3 (01:14:43):
Yeah, that's fair. And Cleveland's got a good defense. Miles
Garrett's a top ten player in the league. I mean
he could he could have four sacks and wreck the
whole game plan. So yeah, that that could happen. And again,
I think Cleveland's well coached. I just think they have
bad ownership. Yet they don't know what they're doing. This
is a fascinating game. So Mike vrabel is coming over
to New England. I mean, last year they hearted May.
I just wasn't ready to be a head coach. Minus
(01:15:05):
two and a half at home against Vegas. Drake May
looks like he's gonna be really good. Yeah, judging by
what he did in his rookie year in the middle
of a clown show. Vegas huge upgrade. Gino Smith, Pete Carroll,
proven NFL head coach, took a year off after it
ended in Seattle. This is a fascinating game. To me,
(01:15:27):
I'm gonna take Vegas plus the points. But this is
an interesting game, David.
Speaker 6 (01:15:32):
I'm gonna go with Vegas as well in this matchup.
I think it especially when you get to the second
half of the season. Rabral and May are going to
do an excellent job.
Speaker 2 (01:15:42):
Yep.
Speaker 6 (01:15:42):
And I think you know, it's kind of the matter
of time that these two teams are matching up in
Gino Smith. I mean, you know, just this is a
big opportunity for him in Vegas, you know, a fresh start.
You know, Pete Carroll is is in my opinion, as
good as anybody has been, you know, head coach in
the NFL.
Speaker 4 (01:15:56):
So this is a spot for them too.
Speaker 6 (01:15:57):
And I just think New England is gonna have to
have a couple games of they kind of get settled in.
Speaker 2 (01:16:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:16:01):
I think people are a little overboard on New England
because they know they got such a huge head coaching upbreak,
which they did clearly and they and may looks like
he's going to be good. I don't have a problem
with that. I don't know enough about do they have
enough good players, because man, they were really bad the
last couple of years at the end of Belichick and
last year. It wasn't just the coaching and why they stuck.
(01:16:22):
They just weren't good enough. They've done bad job drafting.
Part of that was Belichick's this year at the end,
and of course when Brady left, Belichick wasn't quite as
good as he was before. In a shocking development, God,
you got a thought on this game.
Speaker 4 (01:16:35):
Yeah, for the same reason that David just ended his thought.
Speaker 5 (01:16:38):
You know, a lot of moving parts in New England
might take him a little bit to get adjusted and
kind of you know, get a full steam ahead and
get settled in. I'm gonna say that about Vegas. I mean,
Week one is tough. You're going across the country. You
got a new quarterback, you got a new running back,
you got a new head coach. You have a wide
receiver that requested a trade. Brock Bauers is you know,
(01:16:59):
that's deady part of that offense. He's unbelievable. But I
think Vegas has even more moving parts that they need
to figure out, you know, might take a couple of
weeks to do so. So going across the country week
one is gonna be tough. I'm gonna leave New England here,
all right, Uh, David, I.
Speaker 4 (01:17:17):
Go out in Baltimore.
Speaker 3 (01:17:18):
So the team that Shall not be named in Indianapolis
is minus one against Miami. I still have not forgiven
them for leaving.
Speaker 2 (01:17:25):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (01:17:28):
I don't think Indianapolis has a clue.
Speaker 3 (01:17:29):
I mean, if they're if it's so bad, I don't
get this line that the guy that they drafted Anthony
Richardson has been beaten out. Bye, are you serious that
that's New York Giants reject? Yeah, No, I can't be happening.
Speaker 4 (01:17:45):
Miami.
Speaker 3 (01:17:47):
You keep thinking, Yeah, Tua is back, hopefully hopefully doesn't
get another concussion.
Speaker 4 (01:17:54):
I'd hate to see that happen Tyreek kill. Who knows
what's going on with it? But don't they have better
players in Indianapolis? I'll take Miami.
Speaker 5 (01:18:01):
Yeah, I'm with you. I don't really understand this line. Indianapolis.
Why are they favorite? I don't know why they're favored.
They're home, they have some good players on offense. They
got the tight end from Penn State. Yeah, I think
they But can they get them the ball? Can they
get them the ball? I don't think so. I think
(01:18:22):
the quarterback has been an issue for a couple of
years now. It's still an issue. Miami has something to
prove here with Tua being healthy, and that's another head
coach that's gonna be on the hot seat of things
aren't straightened out early in the season.
Speaker 6 (01:18:35):
I mean, it just shocks me that and you said
the stick, but that Joe's is gonna get a chance
to start here. I mean, you have a process, like Richardson,
and if you're not getting rid of him, I can
understand that you're maybe not happy with what he's done,
and that's completely understandable and I think valid. But the
fact that you're just gonna let him sit there on
the bench, that doesn't help the quarterback. That doesn't help
the program at all moving forward. So very puzzled by
(01:18:57):
that whole situation. I mean, if you don't want to
get rid of them, trade him, yeah, And if you
do want them, then at least see what you have.
I don't know if they gave it enough time to
see what they have Richardson. I mean that's you know,
like you said, I don't think they're run the best
from an organization standpoint. Miami has the better players, but again,
you know how healthy is Tua Kenny stay consistent? And
Tyreek Hill you know, has been in the headlines a
lot of the last couple of years.
Speaker 4 (01:19:17):
So is there a lot too.
Speaker 6 (01:19:19):
Many distractions for Miami to overcome? There could be later
on in the season, but week one, I think Miami
is a good shot here.
Speaker 4 (01:19:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:19:26):
I mean, Daniel Jones gets axed by the team that
paid him all the money and one of.
Speaker 4 (01:19:31):
The worst teams in football during the season. Let's just
go You're gone. I mean, what is that time?
Speaker 5 (01:19:36):
Maybe he's better with some weapons in Indianapolis. It's it's possible.
But to your point, the Colts, it's not a super
Bowl or bust year. So why don't you figure out
what you got with the fourth overall pick in the
twenty twenty three draft instead of just having him Rod
on the bench.
Speaker 4 (01:19:51):
All right, we got three more.
Speaker 3 (01:19:52):
One o'clock games, and then we got the late games
Sunday night and Monday night, which we'll get to after
the break, and one out on the Phillies before we
do get to the break. I know I mentioned this earlier,
but they got four games on the on the Dodgers,
which are playing very poorly. They've lost like four in
a row, got swept in Pittsburgh and then they lose
in Baltimore last night and the walk off home run.
Speaker 4 (01:20:13):
Not good.
Speaker 3 (01:20:15):
The Phillies play the Mets four this week, four starting
starting on Monday, so that that could they could end
that they split.
Speaker 4 (01:20:24):
They basically ended. Yeah, right, I mean that's time is
running out.
Speaker 3 (01:20:28):
Tis running out for the Mets, and then the key
series for the Phillies is probably going to be September
fifteenth to seventeenth, three games in LA against the Dodgers.
Right now, they're not catching the Brewers. They're five behind.
I don't think that's gonna have.
Speaker 4 (01:20:41):
Four and a half night four.
Speaker 3 (01:20:43):
I think it's possible, not likely, but possible. I agree,
And the Brewers old.
Speaker 4 (01:20:47):
The season series.
Speaker 3 (01:20:48):
So if it's a tie, Brewers would get hopefield all
the way through, even if if maybe they don't even
win their first their first series.
Speaker 4 (01:20:55):
Doesn't that anyway. September fifteenth and seventeenth, Phillies are in
LA for three.
Speaker 3 (01:21:00):
Dodgers are four behind the Phillies or second best record,
and again people could say, well, it's good to play
three games and not sit after a week. Now sit
at for a week, especially when you don't have Zach
Wheeler rest your pitchers.
Speaker 4 (01:21:15):
So that could be an important series.
Speaker 3 (01:21:17):
Phillies right now, they beat the Dodgers two out of
three early in the year at Citizens Back Park, so
they would hold the tiebreaker if you win the series.
If they win the series, they will hold the tiebreaker
over the Dodgers. Betting on how that all plays out,
all right, we got to take a break, which means
I got to read this.

Speaker 4 (01:24:27):
All right. Washington was in the NFC Championship.
Speaker 3 (01:24:29):
Game last year, got blown out by the Eagles, but
they were the surprise team at the league last year.
Jadon Daniels had a terrific rookie season minus six against
the Giants at home. The Giants have can't be worse, right,
Russell Wilson's an upgrade over whatever nonsense.
Speaker 4 (01:24:50):
They had last year.
Speaker 3 (01:24:51):
The rookie wide out was really good last year, despite
the fact that they had nobody.
Speaker 4 (01:24:55):
Could throw to them. Washington's probably overhyped. I will take
the Giants plus the six K. I will go with
Washington here.
Speaker 5 (01:25:06):
I I do think the Giants have an upgrade in
Russell Wilson, which you know is kind of pathetic to say, uh,
but I like what Washington did in the off season,
went to the MC championship game. You have another year
coming in for Jaydon Daniels, You out and get Debo
to to bolster up that offense. Kind of curious to
(01:25:29):
see what they do behind Jade and Daniels in the
running game. But I think they have a game plan
going in and I trust it's gonna work. Give me
Washington here.
Speaker 2 (01:25:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:25:41):
I like to Quinn. I'm a fan.
Speaker 3 (01:25:43):
I've always liked him as a coach. The biggest is
year with them was last year they couldn't They were
defense is horrible. Yeah, so you would assume that they've
upgraded that to some extent. I mean, it can't be
any worse than they were last year. Yeah, but that's
kind of why I'm taking the Giants just because of
the six points.
Speaker 4 (01:25:57):
Yeah, David, you gotta thought on this one. Yeah. I
like wat Shrington as well.
Speaker 8 (01:26:00):
Here.
Speaker 6 (01:26:00):
I think it's very possible that Daniels and the Commanders
take a step back from where they were last year.
I mean, to get back to the NFC Championship. I
think would be a hard ask to do so again,
but it was a hard ask last year and they
did it. But Daniels is still, you know, a great quarterback.
You know, there's still you know a lot of talent
around him. And Washington's you know, defense, especially upfront, I
think has been very good, yeah, much better than it was.
Speaker 4 (01:26:20):
So I'll take Washington in this one and the.
Speaker 3 (01:26:23):
Aaron Rodgers Bowl at the Meadowlands Steelers minus.
Speaker 4 (01:26:27):
Three at the Jets.
Speaker 3 (01:26:30):
The cheap teams essentially traded quarterbacks right Fields went from
Pittsburgh to New York.
Speaker 4 (01:26:35):
Rogers went from New York to Pittsburgh.
Speaker 6 (01:26:40):
This is a tough one, honestly, I'd probably say Bass,
but I think Pittsburgh has a good chance in this one.
I mean, you know, Fields, I thought he was much
better last year at the end of the season, so
that was definitely an improvement there. And the Jets just
seemed to find ways to lose every year and kind
of create new ways that he didn't know. New coach
and Aaron and that will help I'm going off the
(01:27:02):
Detroit DC un but I still don't see this team
being very good. I think Pittsburgh is going to be
better than what they were off Pittsburgh. Yeah, I'm gonna
roll with the road favorite here in Pittsburgh. Don't get
it twisted.
Speaker 5 (01:27:16):
I'm not falling for the Aaron Rodgers savior Pittsburgh situation.
Mike Tomlin's gonna have these guys prepared to go on
the road to the Jets. I'm curious to see how
dk metcalf looks like with that, with Mike Tomlin and
Aaron Rodgers. I just can't trust the Jets, especially with
a new coach early in the season.
Speaker 3 (01:27:35):
Yeah, I mean the Jets were so dysfunctional last year.
It's hard to really judge whether Rogers is completely.
Speaker 4 (01:27:42):
Done or not.
Speaker 3 (01:27:43):
Yeah, for exactly, he actually threw towards the end of
the year. You're throwing a bunch of touchdown passes.
Speaker 4 (01:27:48):
It looked okay.
Speaker 3 (01:27:50):
And this is Pittsburgh is obviously not a dysfunctional organization.
It's a very functional organization. They haven't been you know,
they haven't been very good for a while now, but
they've always been.
Speaker 4 (01:28:00):
I mean, they're never terrible.
Speaker 3 (01:28:02):
Uh, They're the logical play here, So therefore I'm taking
the Jets plus the three on the theory that I
don't really have any feel for the game.
Speaker 4 (01:28:12):
And I don't have a feel, I just take the play.
Speaker 3 (01:28:14):
So therefore, give me the Jets plus the three, and
if they get blown out, remind me next week never
to take them again. Final one o'clock game, Tampa Bay
minus one at at L David, We'll start with.
Speaker 4 (01:28:29):
You one this week. This is a really good game.
Speaker 6 (01:28:30):
I think it's it's one of the best on the site,
especially at the one o'clock slate. The Falcons again, I mean,
they have a lot to prove in their own right
now once again, and that's kind of the theme.
Speaker 4 (01:28:39):
That they had the division sewn up last they did it.
Speaker 6 (01:28:42):
But I'm a huge Bjon Robinson fan, and I think
he's gonna have a phenomenal season for them this year,
especially if their offensive line can stay in tac I
think it's gonna be a big, big motion for them.
I mean Tampa Bay that they're always good and they're
always competitive, especially with with Baker at quarterbacks.
Speaker 4 (01:28:56):
So you know, we'll see exactly how good they are
this season. I think pssively.
Speaker 6 (01:29:00):
You know, we'll see if they can hold up to
the standard where they have in the last few years,
which I think is possible.
Speaker 4 (01:29:04):
So they're getting a little older back there. But I'll
take the Falcons this.
Speaker 3 (01:29:08):
You're at home, right, So Michael Penig's getting a chance
to start the season, right, Kirk Cousins is the backup Now.
Speaker 4 (01:29:13):
I like that personally. Yeah, I mean they drafted him for.
Speaker 3 (01:29:16):
A reason and Cousins just had a bad back end
of the season and got benched. Unfortunately, There's still home
a lot of money and Tampa's more. To me, they're
the more settled of the of the two teams at
the moment. Mike Evans to me is top five wide
out in the league. I love Mike Evans. Or I'll
take Tampa Bay, give it. Given the one inn a
t o.
Speaker 5 (01:29:36):
This is when we're all take the home dog here
in Atlanta. I know Pennix and the Falcons have more
to prove than Tampa as Tampa's did you know, as
you just mentioned Dick solidified. Yeah, a good solid playoff
team absolutely to that point, though, Tampa Bay no Chris
Godwin to start the year, No Tristan Wurfs two big
losses on offense.
Speaker 2 (01:29:55):
Yep.
Speaker 5 (01:29:57):
I think Atlanta's gonna be ready for this game at home.
It's obviously a big one as a divisional game. Uh
So in that case, I'll take the home dog.
Speaker 6 (01:30:06):
I like that Atlanta played well early last season as well,
so if that trend continues, we'll say it doesn't.
Speaker 4 (01:30:11):
Have to but Atlanta, I think, is gonna look Atlanta.
Speaker 3 (01:30:13):
I mean they were the only team to beat the
Eagles in the likeliest yeah, and that they got players.
Speaker 4 (01:30:17):
Yeah, they do have some talent. There's no argument about that. Alright.
Four PM games, NFC West game. I think it's ante
West game.
Speaker 3 (01:30:26):
I think yeah, Yeah. San Francisco minus one and a
half at Seattle. Uh, Seattle with a second year coach,
San Francisco coming off a disaster mostly due to injuries,
and now that Christian McCaffrey's all of a.
Speaker 4 (01:30:37):
Sudden questionable clockwork. Yep, it's so uh Kyle, We'll start
with you. What are you thinking here? Forty nine ers
in Seattle?
Speaker 5 (01:30:45):
Yeah, you know, the biggest question mark is gonna be
Sam Darnald. Is he gonna be a player that he
was in Minnesota last year? Or is he gonna be
the Sam Darnald that we knew him to be before
last year.
Speaker 2 (01:30:59):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (01:31:00):
With that being said, I think Kyle Shanahan's gonna come
out here to prove that San Francisco is indeed back
after a down year, whether CMC plays or not. They
went out and got Brian Robinson from Washington to back
him up in case of injury, so they're prepared for that.
I know there's still a lot of question marks with
San Francisco, but from a pure divisional game here, coaching
(01:31:23):
matchup matters big time.
Speaker 4 (01:31:24):
I'm gonna go with the Niners. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:31:26):
I think you can make a case going into last
year that San Francisco had the best talent in football.
I mean they just had got every position as one
good player after another. Now they've lost a number of
those players, but they still have a lot of good
players left. Rock Perty is a good quarterback. I don't
care what people say. He's a good player. You can
(01:31:47):
see things that other guys don't see. More settled situation.
I will take San Francisco minus one and a half
because I just don't have any feel for the Sam
Donald was great in Minnesota? Was he great because of
who he was throwing to and the coaching, and then
at the end when he faded into oblivion like he
was before in his career.
Speaker 4 (01:32:06):
He's to me, perty's much more of an obvious answer
than that, is Darnald what he got here for.
Speaker 6 (01:32:14):
I would take San Francisco as well. I mean with Seattle,
I think it's a good question with Darneld just that
there's in week one. You know, there's so many questions,
and you know, if you have that against the team,
you know, I feel like you have to follow what
your heart's telling you. And George Kittle, I think is
just good enough to win the game by himself, honestly,
And I disagree on I'm not sold on Party. I'll
still say that, but he is a good quarterback. I
(01:32:35):
don't think he's a great quarterback. He's a good quarterback
play and I think that's good enough to get the
job done in Seattle. Maybe at the end of the season,
if you were had this game again, McCaffrey's still hurt.
Maybe if you flip around, depending on what happens. But
I think San Francisco is in a once again a
good spot here.
Speaker 3 (01:32:50):
We're all kind of on record that Denver's gonna wat Tennessee.
The question is are they gonna be able to cover
the eight and a half? Yeah, at mile high or
whatever they're calling it these days, Kaw, can they cover
the eight and a half?
Speaker 4 (01:33:01):
I think they can.
Speaker 5 (01:33:02):
I don't see Tennessee scoring much in this game, So
to that point, I would have to go with the
points here in Denver's favorite might have seen a half.
Speaker 3 (01:33:12):
Yeah, I'm taking a home team. I'll give the eight
and a half. I think it's like twenty eight to six. Yeah,
something weirdly that kind of a good David.
Speaker 6 (01:33:21):
I just don't think Tennessee's going to score a whole
lot in this game. And going back to last year,
the Broncos for the last five games gave up nineteen
points or last including against Kansas City and there, which is,
you know, maybe kind of a fluke.
Speaker 4 (01:33:32):
But I think Denver's is going to win this game
pretty handedly. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:33:35):
No, They've rebuilt that squad in a big hurry. They
look like they've hit Yeah. I mean, Daniels was the
obviously the best. It looks like the best quarterback in
that class. But damn, Bonnick's had a hell of a thing.
And I don't think he got drafted higher because he's
so old.
Speaker 4 (01:33:49):
That's what we got.
Speaker 3 (01:33:50):
But you know what, quarterbacks play a long time now.
Who cares how old he is? And we'll get to
Caleb Williams in a minute. So the school's still out
on him.
Speaker 4 (01:33:56):
We just don't know yet.
Speaker 3 (01:33:58):
A really good game in green Bay. It sounds like
Parsons now may not play.
Speaker 4 (01:34:04):
It's to be determined. No, still questionable from what I heard.
Speaker 3 (01:34:08):
Right So, green Bay at the moment minus two against Detroit.
I'll be honest with you, I think they have the
wrong favorite this game. I think Detroit should be favored.
I don't care where this game is. I like Detroit.
Speaker 4 (01:34:18):
I think they have better players than green Bay until
proven otherwise.
Speaker 5 (01:34:21):
I've taken the Lions, Kyle, I will feed into the
line here. I'll take green Bay. I'll take the home
team here. You know, Detroit lost a lot in the
offseason coaching wise, I think you're being thrown in the
line of fire here with the new coordinators. I'll take
the stable, more stable team as of right now. In
(01:34:44):
the Packers, I think Jordan Love comes back healthy, has
a lot better year.
Speaker 2 (01:34:48):
Here.
Speaker 5 (01:34:49):
They go out, they get the receiver from Texas and
Matthew Golden to solidify that receiving corps. I like Green
Bay here, regardless of Michael Parsons playing or not. David
around the out with Green Bay as well. I mean
Jordan Love. I'm huge on Jordan Love. His potential is there.
Speaker 6 (01:35:05):
We saw it at a glimpse last year, and I
think we're gonna see it even more, especially if he
could stay healthy. Getting Parsons, We'll see if he plays
or not. I mean, that's that's huge for this for
this team moving forward. And then for Detroit, I mean
their defense getting healthier again. They had a lot of
injuries last year. We talked about it and they were
just it was brutal how many injuries they had show
and I think it may take them some time to
get going again, get healthy on the defensive side of things,
(01:35:26):
and we'll see how good of a season Jared Goff has.
I think Green Bay is in a really good spot
heading into this year. I think they're the biggest competitors
for the Eagles in the NFC.
Speaker 4 (01:35:35):
Yeah, I look I good. Look at it this way.
Speaker 3 (01:35:37):
Detruit was the best team in football for a long
period of time left sure until their defense got decimated
at the end of the season when they were no
longer the best team in football. And it was clear
when they're going into the playoffs. I didn't know they
were losing the Washington but it was clear they were
not the same team. Man, and Golf was terrible in
that game.
Speaker 4 (01:35:54):
He was really brutal. But having said that, they either
had the best offensive line.
Speaker 3 (01:36:00):
Football or the second best, whether you like Theirs or
the Eagles expense, but their offensive line is awesome.
Speaker 4 (01:36:04):
I mean, Penny Soul is phenomenon.
Speaker 3 (01:36:06):
He's right up there with Lane Johnson among the best
offensive linemen in football. So that's the reason I like Detroit.
All right, La Rams at home, it's so far minus three.
That's the Houston Texans. Man, Houston s some athletes met
all over the place.
Speaker 4 (01:36:21):
The Stafford is playing in this game.
Speaker 3 (01:36:23):
Stafford is playing in LA By the end of last year,
as we saw here at the Linke, their defense was serious.
I mean they are They sack hurts like six times. Yeah,
and they were serious. This is an interesting game, David.
Speaker 6 (01:36:36):
They Rams really had a great chance to win that
game down the stretch. I'm gonna go with the Rams
here as well. I mean, I love CJ.
Speaker 4 (01:36:42):
Stroud. I think he's a really great quarterback.
Speaker 6 (01:36:45):
But the Rams, I mean, especially the way they played
at home, which is so interesting because you know, we've
talked about it. I feel like before why you know,
I have you know, just the the stadium itself, you know,
being with two teams, doesn't seem like the fan base
is all that, you know, pass all in on the Rams.
Speaker 4 (01:36:59):
It's la exactly.
Speaker 6 (01:37:02):
But they play well at home, and for that reason,
I think they're also, you know, in a really good
twoy coming off of last year.
Speaker 4 (01:37:09):
I think they're gonna take that game against the Eagles.
I mean, it was a long time ago, you know.
Speaker 6 (01:37:12):
I know every team will tell you, you know, they're
putting it in the past, but I think they look
at that as a confidence that they can be up
there at the top, you know, with the top of
the NFC.
Speaker 4 (01:37:20):
But I think they are, so for that reason, I'll go.
Speaker 3 (01:37:22):
With the Rams. Yeah, I'm gonna I'm gonna take the Rams.
I think Houston has a few more question marks. Although
the defense is very very good. I'm a fan of
the coach. I like to make o'rians Stroud was not
as good. The second year as he was in his
first year. I don't know what that was all about.
It's kind of strange goings on, but yeah, and Sean
mcvay's terrific. I mean, he's as good as against. I
(01:37:42):
will take the Rams here, giving the three.
Speaker 6 (01:37:45):
Kristen Kirk being out I think hurts them as well.
The Texans too, that's a problem. And you know, and
you know what the Rams are most happy about. They're
not playing against Sakuon Barkley.
Speaker 5 (01:37:53):
Yes, and to that point as well, I think they're
also happy the Rams are not playing against Joe Mixon,
who was the heart and soul of that Texans offense
last year.
Speaker 4 (01:38:03):
Outside of c. J.
Speaker 5 (01:38:04):
Stroud, they still do have Dogs and Nico Collins and
all that, but Joe Mixon's a big loss for them
to start this year. I'm gonna go with the Rams
as well. Really really interested to see this DeVante Adams
Matthew Stafford.
Speaker 4 (01:38:18):
Edition here along with Puka Nakua.
Speaker 3 (01:38:21):
So NBC's got themselves a hell of a Sunday night
football game there. Gonna watch this game, yeah, yeah, okay
for weeks. Just want to make sure for weeks Buffalo
has been favored in this game. Minus one this morning
had turned to Baltimore minus one in Buffalo last year
of the stadium, they're building a new stadium right next door.
(01:38:41):
Both of these teams are good enough to win the
Super Bowl, yes, but they've not been good enough to
be Kansas City. That's been their problem. Ravens, as good
as they've been in the regular season, have been at
bad in the playoffs. Buffalo has been fine in the
playoffs with a couple of exceptions. Mostly their problem is
they just can't beat Kansas City. What are your thoughts
on a.
Speaker 6 (01:39:01):
Terrific I'm shocked that the Ravens are now the favorites,
but you know, I think it's gonna go back and forth,
especially leading up to this game tomorrow night. But I'm
gonna go with Buffalo here. I just you know, Josh
Allen's is a great quarterback. This may be the year
that he could get past the Chiefs. We'll see if
Kansas City's struggles continue. It is just week one and
just being at home, I think that place is gonna
be ready to go Sunday night football. That's what you
(01:39:23):
really dream of. So I'm gonna go with Buffalo here
in the spot in Baltimore. I feel like every time
you kind of believe in them, they kind of let
you down a little bit, especially offensively. So I'm gonna
go Buffalo here. I am going to lean Baltimore here.
You look at the long game for Buffalo.
Speaker 5 (01:39:40):
I don't like the fact that they didn't get Josh Allen,
another weapon on offense. James Cook is phenomenal. They went
out and got Josh Palmer. I don't think he moved
the needle at all. So it's really again gonna rely
on the back of Josh Allen. But again let's hone
in on this game. I like the DeAndre Hopkins for Baltimore.
(01:40:01):
Derrick Henry obviously has not aged. I like the road
team here.
Speaker 4 (01:40:07):
Yeah, I find this a hard one.
Speaker 3 (01:40:09):
But I do think if you just say a player,
the player who's got the better roster, the answer is Baltimore.
They have the better players. I can't explain why they
have played so poorly in the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (01:40:20):
It's just it's so weird that.
Speaker 3 (01:40:22):
I mean, the coaching hasn't been very good, the best
players have not played nearly as good as they could,
including their best player, Lamar Jackson. It's just the strange
goings on. But this isn't the playoffs. I'll take Baltimore
giving the point.
Speaker 4 (01:40:36):
Also, White is doubtful for that game, so a big
loss for Buffalo. He doesn't go right.
Speaker 3 (01:40:41):
So as I do every year, I try to watch
Hard Knocks and I watched it with the Bills this year.
It was the most boring Hard Knocks ever. It's like
they didn't let him in for the cuts. There was
just nothing there, like Sel McDermott must have just told
everybody to shut up.
Speaker 2 (01:40:57):
It was banned.
Speaker 3 (01:40:59):
Two former Ego assistants going at it here with Harball
and McDermott.
Speaker 4 (01:41:03):
And he ate great rivalry last year Baltimore. People don't
remember this.
Speaker 3 (01:41:08):
They hammered Buffalo in the regular season, just ran them
out of the gym in Baltimore.
Speaker 4 (01:41:12):
But again the playoff game, they were horrible.
Speaker 3 (01:41:15):
Monday Night Football, Soldier Field. I don't know that it's
showed me time for Calla Williams, but he needs to
show more now that he has a real coach. Last
year was a clown show. Minnesota minus one at Chicago Minnesota.
JJ McCarthy man, good spot to walk into. You've got
(01:41:36):
a great coach and you've got great offensive weapons very helpful.
I'm a little surprised Minnesota's not a slightly bigger favorite,
but there's still there's a lot of hype about the Bears.
That the Bears do have offensive talent around the quarterback
sounded like he was given a bad bunch to play with.
He's got a good bunch to play with. Kyle will
(01:41:56):
start with you in the final game.
Speaker 5 (01:41:58):
Yeah, I'm intrigued by the Bears this year. You know,
adding Ben Johnson. I mean, how many incompetent coaches have
the Bears had in the years past. They finally have
a good coach for Caleb Caleb Willings to work with
a good receiving cor you got good running back there.
You go ahead and add at tight end Cole Comet,
(01:42:18):
and then Colston Lovelin is the addition. I think they're
gonna be a good team this year. But that said,
it's like we said in the first game, it's gonna
take a little bit. I think you're putting JJ McCarthy
in a good spot here in Minnesota. Love the Minnesota
coaching staff. I think they're gonna be geared to win
this game in Chicago.
Speaker 4 (01:42:39):
So yeah, I would look at McCarthy this way.
Speaker 3 (01:42:41):
The last time we saw him play, he was the
quarterback of an undefeated national champion.
Speaker 4 (01:42:46):
And while he never dazzled, whenever he had to make
a play, he may be good. Yeah, he just did it.
Speaker 3 (01:42:52):
And now he's had a He's a rookie, but in
a much better spot because he's had a year to
see how all this works.
Speaker 4 (01:43:00):
Get the ball in your playmaker's hands, give the ball, Give.
Speaker 3 (01:43:02):
The ball to Justin Jefferson. This is not complicated. And
and other good players, and the coach is sensational. We
love the coach, so I will take the vikings giving
the point I want to see.
Speaker 4 (01:43:16):
Look, I liked Caleb Williams in college. I always thought
he was a good player.
Speaker 3 (01:43:22):
I don't know what to think yet in the NFL
because it was an unfair situation last year.
Speaker 6 (01:43:27):
It's hard to evaluate him. David only with Minnesota as well.
I mean, just the way they've started out the last
few years. Like you said, great head coach, there's a
great system around McCarthy, who you know, like you said,
was a proven quarterback at the college level. And that's
kind of putting it lightly. I mean it was a
great quarterback. So I do think the Bears will be
good at some point in time. Ben Johnson is also
a great head coach, and KALYB. Williams definitely has the talent.
(01:43:48):
I think it's gonna take some more time to put
together there in Chicago. This gonna be a really fun game.
This is a great Monday night football match up here.
But I'll go with Minnesota.
Speaker 3 (01:43:56):
Only got a couple of minutes left. We'll throw this out.
We'll discuss obviously again. Next Kansas City minus one and
a half over the Eagles. Early thoughts, I'm on Kansas City.
I am just on Kansas City as a revenge game.
It's in Kansas City, correct. If it was here at
the link, I might think differently. But traveling to Kansas City,
(01:44:19):
it's gonna be a tall task for the Eagles to
go in that game, especially if Jalen Carter gets suspended
for a game.
Speaker 4 (01:44:26):
I hate to do it, but I am. I'm gonna
lean with the Chiefs.
Speaker 3 (01:44:29):
Yeah, I will take the quarterback that's fifteen and nin
when his last fifteen starts where he's finished, I will
take the Eagles.
Speaker 4 (01:44:34):
I don't think that makes sense.
Speaker 3 (01:44:35):
With the option to change my mind. Next Saturday, David
got an early thought.
Speaker 6 (01:44:39):
It's hard to say that Mahomes is going to lose
three in a row going back to the Super Bowl
last year. But something that I really liked from the
Eagles the other day, I mean, Kevin Pattolo, I thought
did an excellent job calling plays. And you know, the
last couple of years, I mean, Brian Johnson really struggled
in the beginning of the season.
Speaker 4 (01:44:51):
Even Kellen Moore last year. The offense is look good.
Speaker 6 (01:44:54):
I know that, you know, Patullo has been around Hurts
for some time, but I think the offense is going
to continue to get better. The Eagles went in who
you know, Hour had a couple of years ago, had
a similar win in somewhat of a similar type of situation.
Speaker 4 (01:45:04):
It was after them.
Speaker 6 (01:45:06):
Yeah, so I'm gonna go with the Eagles here. I mean,
I just think Mahomes right now, the Chiefs that they're struggling.
Speaker 3 (01:45:11):
Yeah, I wonder if the Chiefs haven't gotten a little old.
I thought that they could depend on their defense. So
they got riddled last night. They did justin Herbert Herbert
was really good. I mean like really good.
Speaker 6 (01:45:21):
Herbert only threw for three hundred dards. Twice last season.
He did it last night pretty easily against the Chiefs.
You know what their defense looks. They're they're back.
Speaker 3 (01:45:28):
Out of their defense looked like it did against the
Eagles when Hurt started throwing the ball around in the
Super Bowl. You've been listening to sports here, there, and everywhere,
