and all the banter and golden
poops 3, 2, 1.
Speaker 3 (00:28):
Hello, to welcome to
Sports Bros, episode 30.
Today we have a special episode.
We have Roombrava Alex and wehave Harry day one Arsenal fan.
Fresh off the 2022-2023 EPLChampionship, come to talk FSU
football college footballpreview.
But before we begin, we have togo to.
(00:52):
We have to do the mostheartbreaking sports moments.
We haven't done it for Harryyet.
Harry, you're due.
The floor is yours.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
Yeah, I'm a little
bit older than you boys.
I graduated from Florida Statein 1988 and my junior year in
1987, florida State was rankedthree, miami was ranked four,
miami was two and oh had beatentwo teams in the top ten,
including Florida.
That year Florida State wasfour and oh game was in
(01:21):
Tallahassee.
That game actually featured 41players that would eventually
play in the NFL, includingMichael Irvin and Dion Sanders.
Both teams were just loadedwith talent.
Jimmy Johnson no, that wasn'tJimmy Johnson, that was the
other coach I want to coachSeattle later.
(01:42):
Erickson, erickson, floridaErickson.
No, it was Erickson that was acoach at Miami at the time and
Bobby Bowden was coached inFlorida State.
Of course, florida State'squarterback was Danny McManus.
So probably this is beforeCharlie Ward, before Casey
Weldon.
So that was actually the firstyear that Florida State started
(02:04):
its run in the top four.
So from 87 to 1990, floridaState finished in the top four
in the final eight people.
So they considered that adynasty, even though during that
period they only won twonational championships.
So in that game Florida Statewent out to a 29 to six lead.
Their field goal kicker missedtwo extra points during the game
(02:25):
.
In his entire career he was afour year starter.
He only missed three extrapoints.
Crowd was going crazy and thenall of a sudden Miami's little
by little chipped away.
Michael Irvin had about fourcatches for like 180 yards that
game.
He actually beat Dion Sanderstwice, one on one with just a
(02:45):
little slant pass and, justfreaking out, ran.
So Miami took a six point leadI'm sorry, seven point lead.
Late in the game Florida Stategot the ball back with three
minutes left.
We're going down the field, weget into the red zone, get
inside the five yard line, wescore a touchdown.
Crowd's going crazy, kickingextra point.
(03:07):
We tie the game.
Bobby Bowden decides nope,we're going for two.
We go for two.
We didn't get it, we had itdown.
Miami ends up going undefeated, winning the national
championship at Florida Statefinished number two that year,
or number two or three, so thatthat that was like that's before
(03:29):
, wide right one and two, because wide right one, I think,
was 90 or 91.
So this game that I'm talkingabout was 87.
So it's kind of like thebeginning of Florida State's
dynasty.
But it was kind of like thebiggest heartbreak because that
was, that was the year, you know, my junior year at Florida
State.
The following year Florida Statewas pre season number one.
They went to Miami, playedMiami the first game of the year
(03:52):
, labor Day weekend.
That was the year Florida Statedid their video, kind of like a
almost like a Chicago BearSuper Bowl shuffle.
They did a little video andFlorida State lost that game
31-nothing in 1988 and Miamiwent undefeated in Florida State
.
That was their only loss andFlorida State finished number
three that year.
So that was.
You know, that was kind of thebeginning of the Miami, where
(04:15):
Miami kind of had a strangle onus and, you know, beat us in all
these close games and that waslike the first one of very many
to come.
So yeah, thanks for making mesay all that, because now I'm
really depressed.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
Thanks, Harry.
Great way to kick off anepisode too.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
Well, luckily Miami's
not any good.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
You know what you can
do.
You can edit now kind of musicwith tears.
You know, maybe a little shykind of you know some sad kind
of music, you know.
Speaker 3 (04:42):
Yeah, I'll put some
music back to that for sure.
Yeah, all right Room brother.
Speaker 1 (04:48):
Well, harry, to talk
about what you're saying,
luckily Miami's not any goodanymore, so we don't have to
worry about them making us upset.
We only beat them by 145 pointslast year, but.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
I digress.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
And another thing I
would like to point out is if
they had the college footballplayoff back then, I think it's
reasonable to say Florida Statewould have won at least two more
championships.
I mean all those years, we wouldlose one game and then you
wouldn't be in an F championshipIf we're in the playoff.
I saw a really good articleabout it that if when you know,
after Bobby Bowden passed, somebody posted it that they
(05:24):
argued Bowden would probablyhave between two and four more
titles if the playoff existedwhen he was coaching, because it
is true we were like always topfive what 14th straight years.
So I know we would have been ata playoff at least 12 of those
years.
So it's pretty wild to thinkabout.
But yeah, I would say our breakwise, I mean you know, they
(05:48):
weren't that good when I was inhigh school and middle school.
And then you know all the Gatorfans were real obnoxious about
10 people all the time and thenyou know they started being
horrible again.
Great to see it, but you know.
So I would say for me being aDolphins fan is a horrible
sports moment.
I do hate that because they'venever been good my entire life.
(06:11):
And then Florida State related,I would say when I was in
school, the only time we lost toa rival where seven million
Florida State Miami was 2012,.
We lost to a very average bestGator team in Tallahassee and me
and my cousin were at that game.
(06:31):
That was when I was a studentand we definitely blew that game
.
Each and every one had a coupleof turnovers, so that was
pretty, pretty bad.
Obviously, the Oregon loss waspretty heartbreaking.
You know 29 straight wins andthen down the cook fumble and
multiple times James with thathilarious fallback and just
(06:52):
threw the ball up in the air.
You know.
Speaker 3 (06:54):
Iconic moment.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
Yeah yeah, that was a
heartbreaking loss as well, but
I feel like in my lifetime it'seither you know we're really
good or we're just like good.
I also Willie Taggart was.
Those couple years were okay.
That's my number one horriblesports moment.
Exactly, let me take everythingback that I said.
(07:17):
The most heartbreaking sportsmoment was when Florida State
hired Willie Taggart.
Speaker 2 (07:25):
So point about it
yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:29):
I do miss watching us
give up 30 yard plays, the 30
yard passes and then celebratingafter giving up a 30 yard pass
because they like tackle the guyGood times, or getting not
being able to get the correctnumber of guys on the field for
punts and having to getpenalties and stuff and then
getting the punt blocked.
Those are good times.
Speaker 2 (07:48):
Well, that was what
Taggart, it was the
predictability, you know.
I mean the average.
The average football fan couldsee them lining up.
They would have three widereceivers on the right and you
knew what they were going to do.
One receiver was going to taketwo steps back, catch the ball.
The other team knew exactlywhat they were going to do and
they would be a two yard loss.
It was second and 12.
(08:08):
So many times with WillieTaggart, it was either second
and 12 or first and 20, becausethey would have so many holding
penalties, you know.
So that was awful.
Speaker 1 (08:17):
Don't forget about
the predictability, in the sense
that if we score a touchdown, you wouldn't celebrate because
you knew that it was coming backfor a holding penalty.
So the predictability and thereally time you're to, it's like
oh, I'm not going to celebrate, they might have just scored a
touchdown.
When it's coming back, there'sthe flag.
Speaker 2 (08:32):
Yeah, yeah.
Now I think we'll all be onthis, but I want to want to
create on it.
What was the turning point postDan Marino moment for the
Dolphins?
What's the biggest mistake theymade?
The post Dan Marino era?
Speaker 1 (08:47):
Oh God, what?
Where do we start?
Speaker 5 (08:48):
I mean, oh, I thought
I was talking Drew Brees, Dante
Colpepper.
Are we talking that?
Speaker 2 (08:54):
Yep, yep.
When the Buccaneers, when theDolphins, had the choice of
Dante, colpepper and freeze, drew Brees was a free agent and
he and he separated his shoulderin a I don't know if it was a
playoff game for the Chargersand Corey, you might know this
the surgeon was like like thisthe surgeon made his shoulder
(09:18):
even stronger afterwards.
He could throw the ball fasterand just made him that much
better than the Dolphins had thechoice they had the first point
, drew Brees or, you know, dantegoes, the wrong guy.
Imagine had the Dolphins goesand drew Brees as a quarterback.
What would have happened to theDolphin franchise?
Speaker 1 (09:43):
Well, that's true,
Harry, because if they people
forget, Nick Saban was the coachback then.
So if they would have pickedDrew Brees, it's possible that
Nick Saban stays in Miami theDolphins, and so you have the
Dolphins with Brees and Sabanversus Belchek and Brady all
those years.
(10:03):
I mean, it would havecompletely changed called
football and NFL, if they wouldhave actually, you know, made
the right choice, which theynever do.
Speaker 2 (10:11):
My understanding and
you know I'm not a huge Dolphin
fan my understanding is thatthey even wanted Drew Brees, but
either the general manager orthe owner of the Dolphins
overruled them.
Is that correct?
Speaker 1 (10:25):
The Dolphins doctors
did not okay.
Drew Brees' shoulder and theyokayed Dante Colpepper's knee.
Speaker 2 (10:34):
His knee.
That's right, I'm just going toget to that Drew Brees wanted
to go to Miami.
Speaker 1 (10:39):
So you're right in
the sense that the Dolphins had
the choice.
They turned Drew Brees down, then he signed with the Saints.
So it's just, yeah, that's aninteresting what if as well
because, yeah, I mean, sabanstays in Miami if they're
winning and you know they havehe has Drew Brees.
The domino.
Speaker 2 (10:58):
Think of the domino
effect.
Think of the domino effect.
Drew Brees goes to Miami.
Speaker 3 (11:03):
You thought of the
domino effect.
Speaker 2 (11:06):
Saban's considered
Drew Brees.
He won.
He won in the pro.
Alabama never gets Nick Saban.
What happens to Alabama?
What happens to the SEC?
Who's the domino?
Who's the domino?
Florida?
Speaker 5 (11:17):
runs it.
Urban Meyer stays in Florida.
Speaker 4 (11:21):
What happens to the
SEC.
The SEC would implode, harry,if Nick Saban wasn't at Alabama.
The SEC would be the Pac-12right now.
Speaker 2 (11:31):
No.
Speaker 5 (11:31):
Corey, it would have
been Urban Meyer.
Swamp Kings man, Did you watchit?
Urban Meyer would have keptthat thing going.
Speaker 4 (11:37):
It was.
Speaker 5 (11:37):
Alabama Nick Saban.
That ended the Florida run.
Speaker 1 (11:41):
Red Rum, red Rum.
We've been hilarious Red Rum.
Look it up Red.
Speaker 5 (11:45):
Rum Look it up.
Speaker 4 (11:52):
You're saying there
would not be a Patriots' Dynasty
if it weren't for the MiamiMedical staff.
Speaker 1 (11:59):
Oh, no, there's not.
Would have been a Patriots'Dynasty, but I think it would
have been.
You know, brady and Belchakversus Saban and Breeze all
those years, and I mean I stillthink Brady was obviously the
best, so they would haveprobably still won all those
Super Bowls, but maybe theDolphins went one or two and
then there's just actually good,a good division rivalry there.
(12:22):
That would be like prime time.
Oh, every time they play, youknow, but the Dolphins don't
make the right decisions.
It's like we could take JustinHerbert or we could lose
correctly, but Brian Florentissays no, let's win a couple of
meaningless games, I don't wantto lose to get Joe Burrow.
So they would play pointlessgames, Yep.
(12:43):
And then he ends up gettingfired.
So that was completelypointless.
And then we don't.
We don't have Joe Burrow, he'stoo busy going to the Super Bowl
.
And then we get Tua, wholiterally cannot even fall
correctly.
He just, anytime he gets pushedhe slams his head on the ground
.
So he's going to be good for acouple of games this year until
he gets a concussion.
And the Dolphins went sevengames.
(13:04):
So let's talk about it for asecond.
Tell them about the Dolphinsand send me off.
All right, I have a questionfor you.
Speaker 3 (13:13):
Let's let's kick off
the FSU segment.
Alex is is FSU back.
Speaker 1 (13:21):
They're fucking back,
Chris, you know, I tell you
when did this start.
All right, me and you at mystats were a party right.
The Gators have just lost toJimbo Fisher.
I really hate to see that afterDiego was playing the.
Speaker 2 (13:37):
Gator fight song real
loudly.
Every time they scored theGators lose.
Speaker 1 (13:40):
That was really tough
for me to see, Yep, you know,
and then this little guy, MikeNorvell, out there actually
yelling at the players.
You know, Florida Stateactually is like putting the
correct amount of people on thefield and I'm like what the hell
is this?
They're actually like lining upcorrectly and not just getting
a penalty every play.
(14:00):
And then I looked at Chris andI said you know what this Mike
Norvell guy fucks?
Speaker 5 (14:06):
There it is.
Speaker 1 (14:09):
Mike Norvell is
fucking every cent.
Speaker 2 (14:18):
I'll answer the
question this way, Chris.
Florida State is back.
However they're going to be anelite team, they've got to beat
at least.
They got to win at least one ofthose two games against LSU,
which is week one, and I thinkthey play Clemson like week
three or four.
That's a great September.
Speaker 5 (14:40):
That's what's crazy.
You guys are going to know ifyou're competing for a national
championship by the end ofSeptember, like you're going to
know if you're in the nationalchampionship All right, so let's
set some expectations here.
Speaker 1 (14:53):
Okay, I've been tired
with the coaches three years
ago.
I don't need a nationalchampionship to say we're back
this year.
We're actually fun to watch, they're competitive and all Mike
Norvell needed to do Peopleforget his first year was COVID,
right, so they can't even seethat he couldn't even meet
recruits for the first like 18months of his job, right?
(15:14):
So, yeah, remember he gets in.
Exactly spring was canceled, sohe gets in there.
You're taking over for theworst coach in college football
history and then you know hejust.
It was such a rebuild.
Speaker 2 (15:29):
Yeah, you had players
that didn't want to be there,
so he had to filter them out fortwo years and I think now he's
truly at the point where this ishis team.
This is no longer Jimbo'sleftover.
You know rotten Apple players.
This is his team.
Not only has he done anexcellent job in recruiting, but
(15:50):
he's even done a much betterjob in the transfer portal and
he's got guys come through theport of that are that are impact
players right away, and there'sprobably about six, seven
players that probably could havebeen drafted in the first three
rounds in the NFL draft.
They all decided to come backand you know I don't.
I'm trying to figure out whyLSU is a prohibitive favorite in
(16:14):
this game.
I think the spread now is threeand a half and I think ESPN
said like there's a chance, achance that LSU wins this game.
You know there are people thatare predicting LSU is going to
win the national championship.
So I like the fact, but I likethe fact that we're the underdog
in this game, because if FSUwasn't fired up on Sunday for
(16:37):
this game, they won't be firedup for any of their stuff.
Speaker 3 (16:41):
What's this spread?
Speaker 2 (16:44):
You know, I think
it's three and a half, that's
like LSU two and a half.
Speaker 3 (16:47):
Two and a half yeah.
Speaker 2 (16:49):
It started this game.
I'm going to depend on that, chris.
Speaker 3 (16:55):
What's that?
Speaker 2 (16:56):
Can Chris give you
the spread?
They're putting all his moneyon LSU, so two and a half.
Speaker 3 (17:02):
Where's the game?
Again, I forget Orlando, orlando, sorry yeah.
Speaker 2 (17:07):
It's in the, it's in
the camp world state.
I was actually going to go toOrlando this weekend.
The cheapest tickets in the$350 and if you wanted to go in
the lower bulls $1,000 hotelsare going for $500 in the entire
Orlando area.
It's kind of you know it's thescrew it.
Speaker 3 (17:28):
Harry Disney is
booming.
Speaker 5 (17:31):
Well, the start is
back, Disney is back.
Speaker 2 (17:34):
Brilliant man.
Speaker 1 (17:40):
As a financial
advisor, I can say I like to
call your compliance department.
Yeah right, that is not anyspecific advice.
We're not allowed to giveadvice unless we have client
meetings and learn about yourrisk, tolerance and objectives.
Speaker 4 (18:01):
Yes, sir, Cut that
part no.
I was saying yeah, cut thatpart up.
No, but yeah, Disney stock.
Speaker 1 (18:08):
Yeah, it's been been
doing great, for sure.
Speaker 3 (18:11):
But what about as
your brush Go ahead?
Speaker 1 (18:18):
Yeah, yeah, that
brand starts.
But I would say, chris, all youneed to know about it, florida
states.
Back is Uncle Jeff is literallyflying from Tennessee just to
watch the game with us at thehouse.
We're not even going to thegame.
We were going to go to the gamebut, like Harry said, it's way
too expensive.
But Jeff's coming to watch itand we're going to be ready to
(18:40):
go.
I would say that, like Harrysaid, it's all SEC is why LSU is
favored.
I think that LSU is going to bea tough game.
Clemson is going to be a toughgame.
I mean, realistically, floridaState is probably going to win
one of the two.
I would say, if I had topredict, I think they're going
to go 11-1, and they're going tolose that opener.
Or they're going to win theopener but lose to Clemson on
(19:02):
the road.
The ACC this year doesn't havedivisions anymore, so they'll
play Clemson in the ACC titlegame and they'll get a chance
for a rematch there.
But for me, 10-2 or anythingbetter is a great season.
If they lose both those games,it's a bummer.
But they've come a long way andMike Norell needed to show that
(19:26):
hey, I can coach.
You didn't see it because COVIDand all this.
So he had a little catching upto do on recruiting.
Speaker 2 (19:32):
But now you're seeing
it they got a top five
recruiting class.
Speaker 1 (19:35):
They got a lot of
heat on the trail.
If they follow that up with areally good season, they're
going to be competitive againand they're fun to watch again.
And they're not Alabama, nobodyis.
They're not Georgia, butthey're going to be in that top
10 range in the future, maybewin a title or two if they get a
really good quarterback whichthe kid they got coming in for
(19:57):
the 2024 class is a stud.
So they could win a title withLuke Gromenoff for sure.
But this year I'd be stunned.
Speaker 2 (20:06):
Yeah, I wish it was
an 18 playoff this year.
I think next year it starts an18 playoff 12, 12, 12.
Speaker 5 (20:14):
Harry knows both.
It's going to be a 12 teamplayoff next year.
Speaker 2 (20:19):
Yeah, so, yeah,
that's right 12.
So that would almost guaranteeFlorida State being the playoff,
but with there being only fourteams this year, oh if damn.
Speaker 3 (20:31):
A Harry guaranteed
again Guaranteeing the top 12.
Harry can you run that back,Harry?
Run that back real quick.
Speaker 1 (20:37):
Oh, I guarantee that
too.
They would make a 12 teamplayoff this year If.
Speaker 2 (20:43):
Florida State.
Let's listen, damn it, listento me.
If Florida State, if FloridaState beats LSU, I think that
almost guarantees they'll be aplayoff too.
Speaker 4 (21:00):
Well, yeah.
Speaker 2 (21:02):
I think they beat LSU
, Disrespect the Clemson.
If they beat LSU, they lose theClemson and then they'll have
an opportunity to play Clemson asecond time, like Alex said.
Speaker 4 (21:12):
Guys, if Vanderbilt
wins the SEC, they're in the
college football playoff.
Speaker 1 (21:21):
That's a gayer fan
Corey, I can understand you're
concerned about Vanderbilt.
I'll never forget that AnthonyRichardson was drafted in the
first round this year and I'llnever forget when he threw that
Hail Mary against Vanderbilt andit went 30 seats in the stands,
(21:44):
I was speed, overthrew the endzone by 50 fucking yards and
this guy gets drafted in thefirst round.
Speaker 2 (21:51):
On a Hail.
Speaker 1 (21:52):
Mary to win the game.
I just can't do it.
He is the total go-to Wow lookat the strong arm he has.
Speaker 2 (21:58):
Look how far he threw
the ball, mm-hmm.
Speaker 1 (22:00):
Mm-hmm I know NFL
scouts are like damn look at
that arm Overthrowing the endzone by 30 rows.
Speaker 4 (22:09):
I need that guy, Need
that guy on my team.
I think we wore orange.
I could be wrong, but I thinkwe wore orange against Vandy
last year and now we're notwearing orange at all this year.
Orange like tops, I mean Justkind of funny.
First time we haven't wornorange since Urban Meyer.
Speaker 3 (22:28):
Where's the FSU Gator
game?
This year it's in Gainesville.
Speaker 2 (22:33):
That game's in
Tallahassee.
No, no, that game's inGainesville.
Speaker 4 (22:37):
Yeah, all right.
Speaker 5 (22:39):
We're playing.
I got the schedule blown up,Larry.
Speaker 4 (22:42):
I'm looking at it, he
knows ball.
Speaker 1 (22:45):
It's in Gainesville.
Speaker 2 (22:47):
Trap game Because we
played by Trap Game.
Tallahassee this year Doesanybody know what the Trap?
Speaker 5 (22:52):
Game is FSU.
They play at Pitt the weekbefore Miami.
Speaker 2 (22:58):
They have two
back-to-back games.
Speaker 5 (22:59):
They're at Wake at
Pitt.
I'm calling it right nowNovember 4th, circle it.
That's your Trap Game at Pitt.
Speaker 1 (23:06):
If we if I agree with
you, if we lose a game, it's
not LSU or Clemson, I think it'sgoing to be that Trap Game.
That's our third toughest gameon this game.
Speaker 3 (23:15):
Florida, I'd like
that for sure.
Watch out for that Florida.
Speaker 1 (23:19):
But you know, bobby
Bowden said he did say and this
is a really good way to look atit that a true rebuild, which is
kind of what Florida State hasdone, is first you lose big,
second you lose small, and thenyou win small, you win close,
and then the fourth stage is youwin big, and last year we won
close, and then this year, Ithink we're going to, we're
(23:41):
going to finally get back tobeating ACC teams by multiple
touchdowns.
That we should beat by multipletouchdowns.
We're not going to be losing toGeorgia Tech.
Oh, no man danger?
Oh no.
Speaker 5 (23:53):
I'm just doing it.
You play Georgia Tech.
Okay, Georgia Tech's not on theschedule, so let's not worry
about Georgia Tech now.
Speaker 1 (23:59):
You guys might make
the ACC a chance game Maybe
we'll see you there, no chance.
Speaker 4 (24:04):
There's no chance,
andrew.
Andrew, can you?
Can you rattle off the FSUschedule real quick?
Speaker 5 (24:11):
Yeah, so you guys LSU
right, then you got Southern
Miss at home cupcake, then yougo to BC.
Speaker 1 (24:19):
I think I'll win that
one yeah.
Speaker 5 (24:21):
Yeah.
Then you go to BC, then you goClemson.
So not only is Clemson a roadgame, it's a double, it's a
back-to-back road game.
And you're only four weeks intothe season.
You got two top 10 opponents, but then after that you got
Virginia Tech, syracuse Duke athome.
You should run through thosethree.
Then you go to Wakin' Pitt.
That's why I think Pitt's yourtrap game.
(24:41):
It's the back-to-back on theroad trip.
Then you come back.
You're playing Miami at home, northern Alabama, and then
Florida at Florida.
Speaker 1 (24:49):
It's there.
I mean if you could survive.
Speaker 5 (24:51):
September.
If you could survive September, you're in the clear because you
got a three-game homestandright after that.
So you're back and you're readyto go for the final stretch.
But you got to get throughSeptember with one loss.
Speaker 1 (25:06):
If they somehow beat
LSU and Clemson, I'll be amazed,
but they're often running atthat point.
I think they're going to gothree and one in those first
four games and then, like yousaid, they could win out.
If they play how they should, they should win out.
They end that cupcake atFlorida.
That'll be really easy game.
They can call me in to playquarterback.
(25:26):
That game will win and then, what do you think, Eric?
You want to go play that game.
I'm sure they'll be getting allthe walk-ons to play that week.
Speaker 4 (25:37):
Yeah, Corey, you want
to go through.
Speaker 5 (25:38):
Florida schedule.
Real quick, we can go throughFlorida schedule.
Speaker 3 (25:42):
Yeah, let's read off
Florida schedule.
Speaker 5 (25:45):
Okay, Corey, give me
the win-loss on this one.
We go to Utah Thursday night.
Speaker 4 (25:50):
We're starting out
one-in-one.
We're starting out one-in-one,okay, okay.
Speaker 5 (25:53):
You're taking the win
there.
Okay, you got Tennessee comingto Gainesville week three, Then
you got Charlotte at home andthen you come up here to
Kentucky.
Speaker 2 (26:04):
Two and three.
Speaker 5 (26:05):
That's two and three,
right.
Then you got Vandy at home, then Edsworth, carolina, three
and four.
Then you got Georgia.
That's a loss.
Three and five Arkansas at home, let's call that a win.
Okay.
Then you got LSU and Missourion the road.
Speaker 2 (26:27):
So four and six,
probably four and seven.
I don't know much aboutMissouri.
Speaker 4 (26:31):
We're calling.
Speaker 2 (26:31):
Arkansas a win.
Speaker 4 (26:32):
Oh thanks, harry.
Yeah, you're welcome.
Speaker 5 (26:35):
That's a win.
It's a win in Florida State athome.
It's a good win.
Speaker 4 (26:40):
So Utah.
Speaker 5 (26:40):
Tennessee, kentucky,
south Carolina, georgia, lsu,
missouri.
Arkansas, I don't know that'sat least six losses right there,
corey.
Yeah, are we going to a bowlgame?
Is Florida going to go to abowl game?
Nope.
Speaker 4 (26:57):
So let's say Harry,
please, please, mute yourself.
Harry.
Let's say we're rolling intoGeorgia on October 28th.
Five and two, five and two.
Graham Mertz has 20 touchdowns,25 touchdowns.
(27:20):
He's sitting top 15 in Heismanvoting.
Stay with me.
Close game to Georgia Realthree yards in a cloud of dust
all night.
Harry said we won at Arkansas,so I'm just going to keep going
there.
That's a W?
W, yeah.
So what is that?
Speaker 5 (27:41):
Six and three Now you
go to LSU Six and four.
Speaker 4 (27:49):
And then we're going
to go to Missouri.
Speaker 3 (27:52):
seven and four I feel
like they only missed.
Speaker 4 (27:55):
Missouri Playing well
, and then Florida stayed at
home, at home in the swamp.
I love the sport.
Speaker 3 (28:02):
Harry setting up
Florida State.
I love that upset.
Speaker 5 (28:06):
So you're saying best
case scenario we're seven and
five.
Speaker 4 (28:10):
You know it's a young
team.
Yep, yep.
The worst part about this gameis that it's at the end of the
year for Florida State fans.
Who's to say we're not twotimes, three times, as good as
we were in the beginning of theseason?
Who's to say?
Speaker 3 (28:27):
Ooh, I mean, we might
not be saying that, but who's
to say?
Speaker 4 (28:31):
Harry FSU is getting
so fat and lazy just eating up
mid tier ACC teams all year.
Speaker 2 (28:40):
The only thing I'll
say is if he, knows Cupcake.
If Florida is seven to five andgoes to the bowl, that's a very
successful year.
That would be a good, you knowpretty class they had this year
and that'll be a building block.
Speaker 4 (28:55):
I mean, if we were in
the ACC we'd probably do that
easily, but some people play ina real conference.
Speaker 2 (29:02):
All right, okay,
speaking of that.
Speaker 4 (29:03):
Good luck at BC.
That's going to be a good game.
Speaker 2 (29:07):
Let's talk about
Georgia schedule.
Somebody read off the Georgiaschedule.
Go through Georgia.
We're just going 12-0, man.
We only have a look at thatschedule.
They're going 12-0.
Automatically drive five spotsin the polls for having such a
garbage schedule.
That is the most ridiculouslyeasy schedule and you're
(29:28):
supposed to be playing theschedule like that.
Somebody read it off.
Speaker 5 (29:33):
Not only that, harry,
they don't even have a road
game till October, september30th.
What is it Is their first roadgame of the season.
Speaker 4 (29:41):
Kirby knows what he's
doing.
He knows what he's doing.
Speaker 5 (29:44):
Yeah, they're going
to be number one all the way
through the season, for sure.
Speaker 3 (29:49):
Oh yeah, the Indog
Nation travels, so there'll be
home games everywhere All right,so I can only stay out for
another seven minutes.
Speaker 2 (29:57):
Give me.
I want all your guys'predictions for the state LSU.
Speaker 3 (30:01):
Start with Are we
doing the spread or straight up?
Speaker 2 (30:05):
Straight up.
I want scores.
One minute for the final score.
Speaker 3 (30:10):
LSU 31,.
Fsu 17.
Wow.
Speaker 5 (30:14):
That'd be,
disappointing.
I'm going to go LSU 31, fsu 30.
Oh, another one point game likelast year.
See, that's the thing, harry.
I want to pick you guys, but Ican't.
It's hard to say you're goingto be LSU back-to-back years,
(30:36):
like you've got to play lastyear, last two, I really do.
Speaker 3 (30:39):
Just doubt them.
Speaker 5 (30:42):
I think LSU wins, I
think they cover, I think they
win by a touch of a hand.
I think it's like 35-28.
Speaker 2 (30:49):
I'm going to say
Florida State 33, LSU 24.
Speaker 3 (30:54):
Okay.
Speaker 5 (30:55):
Okay, it's a decisive
win.
Speaker 4 (30:57):
A lot of field goals
on that end.
Huh yeah, Gee Harry has nofaith in the LSU Tigers defense.
Speaker 2 (31:06):
I have more faith in
our offense and our quarterback
running back wide receiver.
This is going to be a toughmatchup.
Plus, you guys have to mentionthere's a certain player for LSU
that got suspended and is notplaying.
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (31:25):
Huge loss up the
middle.
Speaker 2 (31:27):
Joe Burroughs Big
loss.
So I don't know what he did,but he was a bad boy because
they suspended him for this game.
They didn't suspend him for theweek too.
Mcneese State came.
So yeah, he was signingautographs.
Speaker 5 (31:45):
This was back in 2021
, before NIO was.
It was only one month beforeNIO was even official.
He was signing autographs, sothey tried to appeal to get him
grandfathered in and they lostthe appeal.
Then LSU tried to schedule anopponent for week zero because
it's a one game suspension.
They tried to schedule somebodyso he could play against FSU.
Speaker 1 (32:10):
There you go, I'm
back, and that's how Florida
State's back is that LSU triedto schedule a game just so a
defensive tackle to play againstus.
I mean I think we're good, butI don't think we're that good.
I mean that's a lot of work.
Speaker 2 (32:26):
Alex.
What's your prediction, alex, for the score.
Speaker 1 (32:28):
Sorry about that.
Yeah, I lost Wi-Fi for FloridaState LSU.
Yes, sir man, that's a toughone.
I am going to say 34-31 FloridaState.
Speaker 3 (32:41):
Oh.
Speaker 2 (32:42):
I like that sound.
That sounds like a veryentertaining.
That score sounds veryentertaining for the neutral fan
.
Speaker 1 (32:51):
And I think the game
unless something happens like
one team just comes out andplays horribly, you know,
fumbling all over the place Ithink that's the way the game
will be.
It'll be competitive, It'll befun.
We got two athletic teams, goodoffenses.
I trust our offense.
I think we have a top fiveoffense in the whole country.
I do not trust the defense.
(33:12):
I don't know about you, Harry,I'm a lot more skeptical about
the defense, but I think thereare good defense.
It's just not great.
Speaker 2 (33:21):
I was saying earlier
that I think FSU has the best
quarterback, running back, widereceiver combo, no-transcript
the skilled players on offense.
I don't see any school that canmatch that.
But yeah, the defense is the.
If the defense can step it up,we're going to have a hell of a
year.
But I think our office is goingto have to score a lot of
(33:42):
points if we're going to be aplayoff team at the end of the
year.
I think we're going to have toscore 30, 35 points a game,
especially in those.
You know the three big gamesthat they're playing the LSU and
, assuming, Clemson twice.
Speaker 1 (33:55):
Yeah, and then even.
Speaker 2 (33:56):
All right guys.
Speaker 4 (33:59):
Bye, Harry, Bye guys.
Speaker 1 (34:01):
Bye Harry, bye what,
yeah.
So what did I miss?
Speaker 3 (34:06):
We just gave a score
predictions.
We all picked LSU you guyspicked LSU.
Speaker 1 (34:12):
Yeah, that's right,
sir.
Yes, sorry, my just talkingabout the 2023 Florida Gator
football team completely crashedmy phone, so oh, oh.
Speaker 2 (34:22):
Oh, oh, oh Woo.
Speaker 5 (34:25):
Had to restart.
Oh my God, Well, Corey hasn'tgoing seven and five, so yeah,
maybe if they stay fully healthy.
Speaker 4 (34:34):
Eight and four.
Speaker 1 (34:35):
If they stay fully
healthy.
If you know, gator fans do saythat Billy and appear as he's
the next Nick Saban walking, butbetter.
So if that comes to fruitionthen, yeah, they might be able
to squeeze out seven wins.
Maybe they'll beat Vanderbiltthis year.
That's going to be a real toughgame but you know, I have faith
that Bill Hill, billy, willieand the boys are going to be
(34:56):
able to do it.
Yeah, so yeah.
I'm just messing with you, corey, bill, bill me okay, they're in
a better shape than Miami, Ithink Okay.
Speaker 5 (35:09):
Corey, it's not a
good sign when your coach comes
out the week of the first gameand says you're going to
experience and expect growingpains.
Speaker 4 (35:15):
Growing pains.
Speaker 5 (35:16):
Young players this
year.
Speaker 1 (35:18):
Andrew, they have,
they have.
Speaker 5 (35:19):
Hey.
Speaker 3 (35:20):
Alex.
Speaker 1 (35:21):
They're going to be
great.
I don't know if you thoughtabout it.
Great yeah.
Speaker 5 (35:25):
One more five star
Wisconsin.
Yeah, dude, I mean, they'reloaded yeah.
Speaker 4 (35:33):
But it's a it'll be a
good season.
Speaker 3 (35:35):
Alex, we should, we
should get Diego on Talk some
Gator football.
Speaker 1 (35:40):
Oh he's, he's a
realist at least, but yeah, he's
a.
He'll definitely for my, notthe best when they were blaring
the fight song.
I don't know if you've toldAndrew and Corey this, but for
my stature party, no, they werewatching the.
My bachelor party they werewatching, which I didn't care
that they're watching the Gatorgame Like I was watching it.
We were having a good time justhanging out.
(36:01):
It's dark, covid, so we hadlike a Airbnb and with a pool
and stuff, so we're justwatching football.
But they kept blaring the Gatorfight song Every time the
Gators would score and they weredoing the of, not like the, you
know, which is fine, butthey're having fun Like I wasn't
like messing with them too much, but and then, jimbo, they were
playing A&M and then Jimboended up winning at the last
(36:23):
second.
And then Chris come.
Chris has a great video of himcoming up to me and I'm like
reaching in the fridge for abeer and he goes sober and bro,
what do you think of the game?
And I just look back at themand say you hate to see it.
Speaker 3 (36:34):
He did actually go
there.
How do you feel about the gameso far?
Right now, I hate to see it.
Speaker 1 (36:38):
I'm like oh yeah,
it's some great videos Cause
they went from like a hundred tolike they were zero.
Dude, weren't they?
Were they not just sittingthere like cause, that was that
year with them more than theywere supposed to be.
They were supposed to be reallygood that year and then they
choked a couple of games away, which I still think Dan Mullen.
(36:59):
I'm not upset that Gators gotrid of him.
I'll tell you that right now.
Dude was really good at kickingour ass, so not upset to see
him walk out the door.
Speaker 4 (37:11):
I feel like Florida
kind of hates Dan Mullen now.
Speaker 5 (37:13):
That must have been
2020.
Do you guys?
Speaker 1 (37:16):
edit this stuff.
Speaker 5 (37:18):
It.
Chris does Okay.
Speaker 1 (37:20):
Maybe, maybe, chris,
your financial compliance, maybe
edit my financial advice ifthat's not allowed out and edit
this out about me talking aboutediting it out.
Speaker 3 (37:34):
I'll edit it out, but
leave that part in.
Yeah, the request to edit itout.
Speaker 1 (37:41):
Good stuff.
Yeah, If you guys need anyfinancial advice, hit me up.
Love to talk to you.
What the no?
It's Disney.
Speaker 4 (37:52):
Just do a voiceover
during the time that Alex said
that and said and say this is medeleting, alex saying to not
buy this stuff.
So consider this, consider thishim not saying that it's what.
Speaker 1 (38:09):
Dave Portnoy always
says like buy pen stock, I'm not
a financial advisor or whatever.
Yeah, good stuff, alex.
Speaker 4 (38:17):
what is your?
What's your?
Speaker 3 (38:19):
final four College
football playoff.
What's your prediction?
Speaker 1 (38:26):
Number one is going
to be Florida State University.
I'm just kidding.
I'm just kidding.
I could see Florida State.
If Florida State goes 11 andone and they lose the you know
Clemson like, my projection is,I could see them losing both and
finishing like 10 and two orsomething.
But let's say they stay prettyhealthy.
You know they.
I think they beat L2 that firstgame.
(38:47):
They lose to Clemson and thenthey beat Clemson and they see
that again they'll be like thefourth or third team.
But so I'm going to be Homer,I'm going to say Florida State's
number three at four, and thenI'll do Georgia one, two, ohio
State and then four Bama, because they got to get that
(39:10):
Second SCP team in there.
Damn no Michigan.
Speaker 3 (39:14):
No, isn't like
Harbaugh not even coaching.
Speaker 1 (39:16):
a couple of games,
yeah but they have a cupcake
first month.
Speaker 3 (39:21):
Yeah, I guess they
could, they could do it but I I
don't know.
Speaker 1 (39:24):
Ohio State will
probably beat them this year.
Yeah, it's going to come downto the last three weeks for them
.
Speaker 5 (39:32):
They got to go to
Penn State and then Maryland,
then Ohio State or Michigan, yeah, and then Penn State's
going to be good, they will begood.
Speaker 1 (39:41):
They got to be
careful when they're in the
locker rooms there.
But they'll be.
They'll be a good team.
Tough place to play, you know, but yeah, and then USC, usc can
actually play a lick of defense.
They, they can tend for it, butthey'll be top 10 team.
But they gave up what 30something points to San Nobody
knows state the other day.
Speaker 5 (40:01):
You're right.
Yeah, I was.
I was buying USC stock, but nowI'm like I don't know, I don't
believe.
I mean I'm buying their stockin a sense that they'll be a top
10 team.
Speaker 1 (40:10):
But, like you're
saying, if the defense, like
they're good enough to wherethey'll beat the teams they
should be, but they play a team,a good team, they're not going
to win.
Like Florida State wouldprobably score 50 points on them
.
At least you know and we're noteven like the best team in the
country.
Speaker 5 (40:27):
The back half of USC
schedule.
They got to go to Notre Dame, then they got Utah Cal but who
cares then Washington at Oregon.
So they have a really toughstretch at the end of the season
to get through.
I don't see USC, usc making itthrough that unscathed.
I actually like no.
I think Navy was bad, but Ithought Notre Dame looked great
(40:51):
at first game.
Yeah, like Sam Hartman wasslinging it.
Speaker 1 (40:54):
He's really good man.
I'm definitely not upset thatthey didn't set a UF.
Speaker 5 (41:00):
Yeah, which that's
what it's going to help you guys
out because they play Clemson.
Speaker 1 (41:06):
Yes, that's true,
that won't count towards the ACP
though unfortunately.
Speaker 5 (41:12):
Yeah, but no, that's
an extra loss for Clemson at the
end of the year.
Speaker 1 (41:14):
And I mean
realistically, like unless
something catastrophic happens.
The ACC is not that strongoutside of Clemson and Florida
State this year.
So they should both be in theACC championship game, you'd
think.
Because even if we do lose toLSU and them, you know LSU is
not a conference game, so thatwould still put us in the
conference championship.
Speaker 3 (41:35):
Yeah.
What are the expectations ofthe Miami Hurricanes?
Speaker 5 (41:43):
Are they supposed to
be?
Don't lose to Middle Tennesseethis year.
How about that?
Speaker 1 (41:47):
They didn't just lose
, they did, they give up like 45
points and like 380.
Speaker 5 (41:52):
At home, at home.
Speaker 1 (41:54):
And they just kept
giving up.
All dude they were letting thatguy, that quarterback, through
like five, 70 or passes andseems like it's like every other
place on a bomb.
Speaker 5 (42:03):
Have you all seen the
the shit that Miami Ohio is
talking to my like, so that it'sMiami Ohio versus Miami.
We can run in.
Miami Ohio keeps talking shitlike we're going to show them
who the real Miami is.
How hilarious would it be.
Miami Ohio goes down there.
It's a hurricane's week one.
You're talking all that shit.
(42:23):
It'd be so fun.
Speaker 1 (42:24):
I would, I would love
that, andrew, that'd be
phenomenal.
Yeah, that's been Ross'sburgers.
You know school, that's wherehe played ball.
So yeah, I got.
I got the strong fight in Miamiof Ohio's when in that first
game against the the you, thehas been, you know yeah but, now
Miami will be.
(42:45):
They should be better, butthey're probably a 7-1 team, you
know.
Speaker 5 (42:50):
Oh yeah, they got to
play Texas.
And then week two, they got togo to North Carolina, they got
Clemson and they got to go tofour states.
Speaking of Texas, they winthose.
Speaker 1 (42:59):
What do you guys
think about Jimbo Fisher man?
Speaker 5 (43:01):
He's got to do it
this year.
Man Like they are there, imagine if they go like seven
and five again and they have tofigure out how they're going to
buy him out.
It's like 75 million dollars, Iam.
Speaker 1 (43:13):
That's crazy.
I hate to see that, andrew.
I definitely hate to see that.
Oh yeah.
Speaker 5 (43:20):
I mean, I don't blame
him for leaving.
Speaker 1 (43:22):
but to me, like
Andrew, you know, you guys know
I'm like I'm joking around, liketowards the Florida State is
back to being a good footballteam again.
But I'm mostly a realist and, like I remember, when he first
left, people were Some peoplewere like well, texas and ends a
better program.
And I'm like what I mean they?
Speaker 2 (43:42):
have more money, but
they haven't won anything of
significance since only whitepeople could play football, so
it doesn't count.
Speaker 1 (43:49):
What 1930?
I mean, yeah, they're.
They're a good program.
They have a lot of money.
But Florida State is a betterprogram.
I don't think there's any dataabout it.
Speaker 2 (43:57):
Florida is a better
program.
Speaker 1 (43:58):
I mean Texas A&M is a
above average program that just
happens to have a bunch of richoil guys that fund the program.
And you're seeing it, Peoplethought Jimbo go there and be
winning titles left and rightand they went five and seven
last year with, like another onerecruiting class.
And they like the bestrecruiting class of all time and
they went five and seven, youknow so.
Speaker 5 (44:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (44:21):
And that the people
forget that the culture in
Florida State was horrible.
His last couple of years hereally.
I had some buddies in thefootball program and he really
kind of started letting things, letting things slide, and that's
how I built.
I bought in on Mike Norbellbecause I know people in the
program that are realist andthat we're saying Willie's a
disaster behind his scenes.
(44:42):
But they were saying, listen, give Mike some time.
This guy it shows, he'sorganized, he's methodical, he's
smart, he's a great coach.
If he gets the Florida State, allows him to rebuild this thing
right, it'll show.
And I'm not saying we're notwinning championships every year
, but he's got it, he built itright.
We went through the growingpains and it's a good football
(45:03):
program again at least, whichfor a little bit there it seems
like they were going to beunlawful forever.
Speaker 5 (45:10):
Right.
Well, Alex, let me get yourtake on this.
What do you think about thiswhole realignment and stuff?
Where do you want Florida Stateto be in this whole realignment
?
Speaker 1 (45:21):
Yeah, I think it's
interesting, for sure, I think
anyone that kind of knows andunderstands the inner workings
of college football, like peoplethat are way smarter than me
that I listen to on like two, four, seven podcasts and stuff
like that.
Like Bud Elliott have beensaying that this is coming for
years and it would just slowlyshow like USC and then Texas,
(45:43):
oklahoma.
Obviously we're the first bigreal domino, but you know it's
going to be interesting forcollege football.
I think that college football isgoing to kind of become more of
a minor league NFL team kind offeeder league.
I hope that they still focus onthe school part of it, though,
because that's what makes it somuch more fun.
(46:03):
It's because you're rooting forGeorgia Tech.
You went there, you'repassionate about it.
You were at the games, you went, you lived on campus.
You're going to be able to takeyour kids there and say this is
where your dad got stupidlydrunk one night, or this is
where my this was my favoritespot to eat.
You know and there's to me,that's what makes it so much
better than the NFL we're sayingthe walkoff yeah exactly.
(46:25):
Yeah, we're a brand new bio.
Yeah yeah, good times.
That was a great game.
Good times, that was like ourfirst ACC loss in like five
years.
Speaker 5 (46:33):
I was hoping that was
going to be your heartbreaking
moment.
I was like going to chime inwith like that was one of my
favorite.
Yeah, I should have broughtthat up for you.
Speaker 1 (46:42):
I remember it, dude.
I don't even think they hadtouched the end zone yet before
you had messaged me about that.
No, that wasn't.
Speaker 5 (46:52):
We sucked so bad that
it's like I'm a college
football fan.
Speaker 1 (46:56):
So like, obviously,
like I hate UF, right, and like
Miami I kind of hate, I guess, but like, other than that, it's
like I look back at that.
I'm like what a cool moment forGeorgia Tech fans.
Like because I get it likewe've upset teams, we've been
bad the last couple of years, solike anytime we pull off an
upset, like that LSU game lastyear was awesome because it's
like showing the nationalaudience like hey, florida State
(47:19):
, florida State, and we're backto being able to win games like
this.
You know, and it was coolseeing.
I mean that was an awesomemoment, especially being at
Georgia Tech.
I'm, I'm guaranteed I see thatbeing like one of your favorite
moments, because that was areally cool moment.
And Roberto, why, dude?
I mean people forget when I wasat.
Florida.
State it could be like a gamewinning field goal and I could
be like, cool, I'll go take a goget a beer and go to the
bathroom real quick, because hedidn't just make every kick, it
(47:43):
was like dead knots down themiddle.
Every single time he kicked, Imean it was a guaranteed made
field goal.
And then he gets the NFL, hegets boot in the preseason and
then he can't make a field goal.
Save his life.
It's crazy.
Well, that's why the booksdraft them in the second round
man, you gotta get that value.
Speaker 5 (47:58):
Well, hey, sebastian
Janikowski, what's up In the
first?
Speaker 1 (47:59):
round another Florida
State guy and he's probably the
best pick the Raiders have madein years, cause he was their
kicker for what you know, he'slike the one guy.
But uh, yeah, it's uh.
Back to the sorry, I digressthere a little bit.
Um, I would like them to be inthe SEC, obviously, cause, yeah,
everything's, you know all theteams are closer.
I feel like Florida State is anSEC program.
(48:21):
I think it's a greatopportunity to be in the SEC.
I think it's a greatopportunity to be in the SEC.
Florida State is an SEC programwithout being in the SEC.
Right, I mean they have the,the tradition, they have the
facilities.
You know the name.
I mean the name sells.
I saw, you know, our FloridaState's been very vocal about
wanting to get out of the ACC.
(48:42):
So our AD has been pointing outall these stats and I didn't
even realize it.
But these last couple of years, with how horrible we've been,
we've still been like the mostwatched, even like more watched
than Clemson.
So if Florida State's on primetime, like people are watching I
, I don't get it.
I assume it's cause a lot.
You know, we were so good forso long in the 80s and 90s that
(49:03):
my Kirk Herbsley will say oncollege game day like he wants
Florida State to be good causeto him.
It's like this is the programthat should be competitive every
year, cause that's how it waswhen I was watching football,
you know, and as a collegefootball fan, I don't I joke
around, but I want Florida to begood, right, I want those to be
good games again.
You know I don't want all thegood recruits going to Georgia
(49:24):
and Alabama.
You know I I'd like for I likefor the premier college football
teams to be fun to watch, but Ithink they're probably going to
end up in the big 10.
If I had to guess, I think theyprefer the SEC, though I think
it makes more sense for the big10 cause then the big 10 would
be nationally, a national brand, right, they'd have USC and I
(49:46):
would want the big 10, exceptfor USC coming in as cool,
because you know I've been tothat stadium before and that's a
really cool stadium to watchgames.
So if I got a couple of placesthat I can maybe take the
occasional road game to, that, that'd be a cool road game to go
to Um and you know, for the big10, it makes a lot of sense and
shoot, florida State's gottenso good academically now that
they you know they're not AU orwhatever it's called, but that
(50:09):
they could probably be that soon.
I mean they're a top 20 publicuniversity now I don't even
think I'd get in nowadays, youknow, yeah, yeah.
So I could see it either way.
I'd be happy with either.
They just got to get out of theACC.
I think them and Clemson are apackage deal, though Clemson's
kind of sitting behind and thisis what people that understand
right, like I'm not in, I don'thave the know, the knowledge, or
(50:33):
like the people behind thescenes anymore.
But the people that have peoplebehind the scenes tell you that
Clemson's like right behind usgoing yeah, yeah, yeah, you know
, perfect.
So they're like, but they'rekind of like the silent business
partner.
You know, I guess Florida Statejust came out and was like
we're going to just kind ofstart bitching about this until
something happens.
Yeah, yeah, they're pretty Dude.
(50:54):
Our president, who like camefrom Harvard, he was like
Harvard's like assistantpresident or something.
He was straight up on that calllike yeah, this is not going to
work and we need to get out ofhere.
And I mean for the president ofthe university to say that's
pretty extreme.
So I don't think you say thatand you stay in the conference,
right.
I think ACC is being smart, though by adding Stanford and
(51:14):
who, who, who else is it they'retrying to add?
There's like two other themesCal on SMU, because I think what
the ACC should do, becausethere's some good programs in
the ACC, they're just not elite, right, like Wakes, a good
program, you know, there's goodfootball programs, they just
don't have the money.
I do think that they couldbecome like that net, still be
(51:38):
powered by, but be that likethird, third biggest conference
Now that the Pac-12 is dissolved, right, you can kind of tell
it's gonna be the ACC and thebig 12 kind of fighting for that
Like who's the next level, right, if they add like a
Stanford or something likethey'll be an attractive
conference.
Still, I do think that UNC isin a very attractive program.
(52:01):
They're gonna go to the big 10or the SEC.
I can see Georgia Tech as well, virginia Tech, virginia, but
like the Boston colleges, theWake forces and stuff, those are
good football programs but theydon't have the money to compete
in today's college footballlandscape.
So I think they're betterstaying in the ACC, you know,
and the ACC still being a goodconference, but not the best
(52:24):
We'll see.
I mean, I find the gas big 10,but I'd prefer SEC.
What do you guys think?
Speaker 3 (52:30):
When would real quick
?
When would FSU make that moveNext year?
Speaker 5 (52:37):
So they're right this
season now I mean it's too late
for this, I mean we're pastthis season, but it's all for
next year, Cause pretty muchtrying to get reposition for
next football season.
So it could be the spring.
Speaker 1 (52:48):
And one interesting
thing is everybody's saying that
as well, that it's next year.
An interesting point that acouple you know sports writers
made was that Paul Feinbaum, whois total SEC homer but is about
as locked in with the SEC asanybody, so he knows what's
going on the end workings ofthat conference.
He was saying like a month ortwo ago like Florida State's not
(53:12):
as attractive as they thinkthey are.
And then I don't know if youheard his interview like two
weeks ago he was like that's oneof the most attractive brands
in college football and the SECdefinitely wants them.
And he's not saying that unlesssomebody told him like na na na
na na like we're very interested.
Speaker 5 (53:28):
Well, here's the
thing the SEC doesn't want the
big 10 in their backyard, theydon't want them in the South,
they don't want them to come toFlorida and take that market and
you guys are more valuable thanMiami cause Miami came and
figured it out and they want tostadium, and having FSU blocks
the big 10 from coming down tothe South.
(53:50):
I think that's what's mostimportant, for the SEC is trying
to keep that landscape, andthat's a perfect point.
Speaker 1 (53:57):
And even more than
that, like you're completely
correct.
Even more than that we'retalking we're not just talking
to conference, we're talkingmajor broadcasting networks.
This is really a battle betweenESPN and Fox, and the really
interesting thing that I've seenand heard is that ACC ESPN has
the right, cac ESPN has theright.
(54:19):
CAC as well, and from what I'mhearing, espn was freaking out
at the thought of Florida Stateand Clemson going to Fox, which
is big 10, right, it's Fox, andI think CBS has some of their
games too.
Espn does not want to loseFlorida State and Clemson.
That's a lot of broadcastingrevenue that they've lose, and
(54:39):
really what I've kind of seen isthat that's really the main
battle here and that a potentialout for Florida State might be.
Hey, if we stay in the ESPNumbrella and go to the SEC.
Speaker 2 (54:53):
Are you gonna kind of
get?
Speaker 1 (54:54):
rid of some of these
BS, exit BS the ACC has, or else
, if not, we're going, we'reflipping over, we're going big
10, we're going Fox, and I thinkthat's why they were letting
those rumors come out, becauseFlorida State would prefer being
the SEC.
I think for sure.
Speaker 5 (55:08):
Yeah, yeah.
I think another underlyingthing that's in play here is
ESPN is looking for a buyer, sothey want to sell to somebody
and Apple, I think it's Amazonand Amazon's come to the
forefront now as a potentialbuyer of ESPN, which is another
piece of the puzzle, that nowthis reshuffling can really
(55:29):
begin the TV contracts untilESPN kind of sorts out what's at
the top level here.
Speaker 1 (55:36):
Yeah, absolutely.
I mean we're talking like big,big time money being involved
and it's not as simple as acouple of fans sitting around
being like, hey, the SEC doesn'twant Florida State because they
already have Florida.
No, we're talking millions andmillions and hundreds of
millions of dollars here andlost revenue.
(55:57):
And that's what really mattersto these people and that's
what's gonna make the decision.
Do they let all the money thatFlorida State and Clemson
generate, which in Florida State, just being good again, is
showing, hey, we've been downbut we're getting back up and we
still generate that revenue?
And I mean I think them andClemson are really comparable,
(56:17):
they're similar programs andthey're just like you said,
they're just Southern programs.
So I think they're perfect.
If the SEC wants to expand, Ithink they have no choice.
I think UNC and stuff would bea better fit for the Big 10, but
SEC-wise I mean they'd be smart, I think, to get Florida State
and Clemson.
And then there are no doubt thenumber one conference.
(56:39):
If the Big 10 gets FloridaState and Clemson, I would still
give the SEC the edge, but byhow much?
Because people forget the SEC'sgot some stinkers in that
conference too.
I mean they got Vanderbilt, they got Florida.
You know there's some bad teamsin that conference.
Speaker 5 (56:56):
They got Florida.
Speaker 1 (56:58):
That was for you.
Speaker 5 (56:59):
Corey.
Yeah, yeah, it's crazy man.
That's what this.
I think COVID reallyaccelerated all this, but you
also had the streaming wars.
You had all these other peopletrying to come up with this
platforms to rival Netflix, andthen now we have writer strikes
(57:21):
because no one can pay everybodybecause of all this money that
got poured into streaming.
But what actually makes moneyis sports live TV.
That's what draws viewership.
That's what gets people to signup for subscription services,
to pay to watch, and that's whyall this money is on media
rights and going to theuniversities and they have the
(57:43):
power.
The conferences have the power.
Speaker 1 (57:45):
It's the name of the
game now and you're also
factoring in.
I mean, you think about sportsbetting, right?
The more that keeps state bystate by state legalizing it.
That's another reason forpeople to watch.
Cause you might not want towatch a random US or not USC,
(58:06):
that's a good program.
But random pack 12 teams, right, you might not care about
watching.
Speaker 4 (58:11):
Rutgers, Maryland.
Speaker 1 (58:12):
Correct, dj, but
maybe you got a parlay right and
you got some good money ridingon.
If Oregon ends up scoring thatgarbage time touchdown against
Oregon state right, that's goingto give you a reason to watch
and I think that definitely hasincreased the broadcasting
revenues Cause just like fantasyfootball has for the NFL for
(58:33):
years you know the footballmakes people watch the NFL more
than they otherwise would iffantasy football didn't exist.
And gambling is the same thing.
Speaker 4 (58:44):
Red zone would be
slashed if it weren't for
fantasy football.
Speaker 5 (58:49):
Red zone was perfect
for fantasy football.
No, exactly, yep, yep.
And just like yo, alex, whatyou're saying these media
packages are they're going to betailored for.
I mean, everyone's kind ofshifting to the betting format
here and putting that beforelike that's what is going to
sell sports and that's what'sgoing to get people to watch.
Speaker 1 (59:09):
Yep, absolutely, and
that, like, like we're saying,
that's the name of the game.
Now the game's changed a littlebit, but you know it's yeah.
I think that it's it's.
It's a big brand and Clemson'sa big brand.
Miami is a big brand as well.
They're going to go to one ofthe two big conferences, and I
just think that it's not assimple as an SEC bias fan being
(59:31):
like, oh, they don't needFlorida State.
I mean, that's a lot of moneywalking out the door to a
competitor.
So you can say where the state'sbeen down the last couple of
years.
All you want, but it don'tmatter.
People still they put asses inthe seats, and so does Clemson
Dude, if the I've never saidthat before.
Speaker 5 (59:48):
If the big 10, right.
If the big 10 came down and gotClemson and Florida State they
could have they have now havethe arsenal to compete with the
SEC and they're recruiting intheir own backyard.
I mean they don't want that.
Speaker 1 (01:00:04):
Yeah, and that and
their money.
They actually I think theircontract pays out more money to
the universities than the SEC'sTV contract does, so the big 10
would actually be able to pay.
Yeah, because they justnegotiated, yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:00:15):
Like.
Speaker 1 (01:00:15):
Florida State, that's
.
That was part of the thing,Like, hey, if Florida.
State goes into big 10, we'regetting more money right and but
, like you're saying, I meanthat's a big part of it is you
know who's going to be who'sgoing to be wanting the
contracts?
And yeah, it's, yeah, it'sdefinitely it's definitely Did
you guys?
Speaker 4 (01:00:34):
did you guys see that
ESPN made a deal with I think
it's theater sports network tobroadcast games and movie
theaters?
Speaker 5 (01:00:43):
Is that real?
Was that I didn't know.
Speaker 3 (01:00:45):
Really?
Yeah, I didn't know if that wasreally either.
Speaker 1 (01:00:49):
That's funny.
Who the hell's?
Speaker 5 (01:00:51):
got a movie theater,
the one football game.
Speaker 4 (01:00:54):
I saw ACC, but I
don't know if it's just ACC.
I think they got games on likeCW and stuff now.
Yeah, Dude, it's bad man Likethey come on right before live
golf starts.
Speaker 3 (01:01:09):
Yeah, and one tree of
hell.
Speaker 5 (01:01:12):
Yeah, now everybody
was ripping the ACC today
because they just opened theirheadquarters in Charlotte and
they were raising all the flagsof all the universities and
people are like what are youeven doing that for?
Like you're going to be takingthat down.
I mean, that's going to be upthere for like six months.
You're going to have to takethe flag down when those people
leave.
Speaker 1 (01:01:29):
Yeah, it's a yeah,
like you're saying, I mean you
don't come out and bash theconference like Florida State as
an end state, right, I meanthat's like.
That's like trashing yourgirlfriend, letting her write on
social media, on Facebook, justtalking about how she's like
the worst girl ever.
And you need to look elsewhereand then you know being married
for 20 years is not happening.
Speaker 5 (01:01:51):
Yeah, alex, I think
that I think Florida State
really needs to go all in onthis and just get the Saudis
money, like let's just get theSaudis in, let's buy everything,
let's just run ships.
Speaker 1 (01:02:04):
You know this is this
is how you know to answer the
question that started thispodcast.
That's how you know FloridaState's back is that you're here
in crap like that again, I meanand then I don't know if you
saw this all over social mediabut some Miami fan I'm like the
Miami message boards were sayingthat Florida State's cheating
because they're getting all thismoney from some super rich
chick.
This is, this is actually apost that some super rich
(01:02:27):
Delaware chicken farmer isfunding all and paying for all
these recruits for statesmanlanding.
So all the florists they gotlike on social media have been
like jokingly tweeting like oh,it's that, it's that chicken
farmer money.
Baby, we're back.
Speaker 5 (01:02:45):
Chicken man.
Yeah, oh, I mean, my Miami'sgot that Ruiz guy that's like
that life wallet he's, he like,he like this.
Have you seen this Ruiz, theguy that like does all their NIO
stuff and he like defrauded thehealth care system with this
life fault bullet, bullshit andscammed a bunch of people to get
his money?
Speaker 1 (01:03:04):
Yeah, his stock is
trading at like eight cents a
share, so not great.
Speaker 5 (01:03:11):
So it's almost
everything that's good.
Speaker 1 (01:03:12):
Let's look at the
recruiting around these man.
Miami and nowhere to be found.
I mean they're doing.
Ok, they're still Miami.
People forget that.
God, what is it?
Probably 50% of the top 250 ofrecruits come out of Miami.
I mean, it's just loaded withtalent down there.
So Miami is going to Miami cando nothing.
We can be the head coaches ofMiami and they're going to land
(01:03:35):
a couple guys, you know, butyeah yeah, just point to the
beach.
Do you want to go play in Ohio, dude, or do you want to play in
Miami?
As a Dolphins fan, that's why,to me, it's an excuse for the
dolphins not be any good, because the dolphins can sign
whatever free agent they want.
Where do you want to go?
You want to go play for theBrowns or you want to play for
(01:03:55):
the dolphins?
I mean, it's a no writer, youknow I mean, for me, miami's
main problem is they don't havea, they don't have a field and
they own a stadium on campus, and that is the difference of a
true college atmosphere.
Speaker 2 (01:04:10):
I know that's what
you have stuff to do and watch
it.
Speaker 1 (01:04:13):
The USF will be much
more competitive when they get
that, that football field oncampus.
Still, I'm not saying they'llbe, you know, when a national
championship like UCF, right thetotal national championship
winner program.
Speaker 3 (01:04:28):
We got to get a man
sure on.
Speaker 1 (01:04:31):
Dude, that was a
great.
You know them beating thatthree loss Auburn team.
That was a great nationalchampionship game Incredible Yep
.
Yep, yes, you see, they gotthree lost teams in there
determined that as chance it.
Speaker 4 (01:04:48):
Wait, is USF getting
a football field?
Speaker 3 (01:04:51):
Yes, they're getting
a.
How far is?
How far is Miami's campus fromwhere they play Forty five
minutes, or something like?
Speaker 1 (01:05:00):
that.
Speaker 4 (01:05:01):
Like get on a bus.
Speaker 1 (01:05:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:05:03):
Yeah, it's a smooth
90.
Speaker 4 (01:05:06):
Hard Rock.
Speaker 5 (01:05:06):
Stadium is nice,
though.
I liked hard rock, I mean, Ithought it was pretty legit.
Speaker 1 (01:05:10):
It's really nice they
did a.
Speaker 3 (01:05:11):
yeah, yeah, I had fun
there.
Bucks one.
Speaker 1 (01:05:15):
Now the J Color game.
That's when Chris was switchingout of the Dolphin jersey and
that he kept putting the Dolphinjersey on every time the
dolphins had scored, and thenhe'd rip it off, put a buck
jersey on it.
The people behind us are justlike I am.
Speaker 3 (01:05:30):
Oh man, that was much
fun.
Speaker 1 (01:05:33):
Dude, that was so
funny, I forgot it was you.
You started with the buckjersey, I think, and then like J
Color smoke and J March downthe score of TD and then you
like rip the buck jersey off andyou're like doing fence up with
all the dolphins and they'reall like they're losing it dude.
Speaker 3 (01:05:52):
They had no idea what
was going on.
Bruce the game.
That's the game.
I had my dress pants and I hada tailgate and dress pants and
the dress shirt and I forgot myshorts and I had to go into the
game with dress pants on.
I forgot about that.
Speaker 1 (01:06:06):
Yeah, I forgot you
had to wear on the whole time.
Speaker 5 (01:06:09):
Oh man, chris, you
should have done that for that
Steelers Titans game when youwere in the Titans jersey.
When that woman told you to gofuck yourself, you should have
switched to a Steelers jerseyfor what she said.
That would have been hilarious.
She says, go fuck yourself andyou just change it in the
Steelers jersey immediately.
Speaker 1 (01:06:31):
Didn't Amazon lock
your account because you kept
returning too many items?
Speaker 3 (01:06:37):
No, never officially.
They did message me once.
Hey, I saw some returns.
Speaker 1 (01:06:43):
Is everything going
okay.
I'm like yeah, yeah, I'm fine,You're returning 90% of your
items Steelers lost.
Speaker 4 (01:06:50):
I don't need this
anymore.
Speaker 5 (01:06:53):
You're the most
pin-mike of that ever.
I just returned the stuff.
Speaker 3 (01:06:59):
That was funny.
Speaker 1 (01:07:00):
Dude good times.
How about the Bucks this year?
Let's talk about them or yourguys' names.
Speaker 3 (01:07:05):
Hey Kermayfield, hey
Kermayfield, we'll be about 500.
Yeah, that's the bar.
Speaker 1 (01:07:11):
Yeah, that's probably
how the Dolphins will be, like
500.
Speaker 4 (01:07:16):
We do play in the
worst division of sports, though
that's good.
Speaker 1 (01:07:21):
Dude the same thing
to let J-Boo lose man.
You see that speech he gave theother day.
Speaker 4 (01:07:25):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (01:07:26):
That's my guy, dude.
Speaker 4 (01:07:28):
Guy's a baller.
Speaker 1 (01:07:30):
Listen, you're going
to lose.
Speaker 4 (01:07:33):
Can't tell me he's
not a top 32 quarterback.
Speaker 1 (01:07:39):
Listen, there's
nothing more fun than just
slinging it.
Dude.
Whoever catches it, they catchit.
I mean he's got to throw 40touchdowns and 40 picks.
I mean it's not going to getmore electric than that.
Speaker 4 (01:07:51):
The LASIK is still
setting in.
He used to just see blobs ofcolor out.
There he's settling.
Speaker 1 (01:07:58):
Maybe he needs to go
back, because he won the
championship when he couldbarely see, so maybe he can see
too well now.
So he's overthinking things.
Before he was just throwing it.
Speaker 4 (01:08:06):
He's second guessing.
Speaker 1 (01:08:08):
He was just letting
it lose before and just getting
lucky.
Speaker 3 (01:08:14):
Oh, alex, look at the
.
Can you see Corey's couch?
Speaker 4 (01:08:17):
Oh yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:08:19):
I think it's just
showing Christiane Ronaldo.
It looks like.
Speaker 4 (01:08:24):
Oh, damn what.
Speaker 1 (01:08:26):
Yeah, yeah, I don't,
I don't see, I Only see
Christian Ronaldo.
Speaker 3 (01:08:31):
You don't see Corey
there we go now.
Speaker 1 (01:08:33):
I see him nice couch
man.
Nice, you like the couch?
Yeah, dude, do you like?
Speaker 4 (01:08:38):
pretty sick.
Speaker 1 (01:08:43):
It was like it.
Oh, I love that.
It's great couch dude yeah ohyeah you got to get the the
automatic man anything notautomatic.
And it's got a.
It's got a cool.
Speaker 4 (01:08:52):
I know it.
Speaker 1 (01:08:53):
Yeah.
Wait is that Alex's?
Speaker 5 (01:08:56):
couch.
Oh yeah, is that the couch fromyour apartment?
Speaker 3 (01:08:59):
Yep, yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:09:01):
It lives on.
Speaker 5 (01:09:05):
It's an absolute
beast, it was the same couch,
yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:09:11):
Yeah, it's the same
one.
It made the trip to Fort Myers.
Speaker 1 (01:09:15):
Chris didn't want it
anymore.
He was like I just reminded methat room, bro, I didn't want
anymore.
Speaker 3 (01:09:21):
Yeah, I gotta get rid
of that.
Sometimes I think about Scoob.
Hope he's okay with that.
Maple maple leaf toy.
Speaker 1 (01:09:27):
Oh, it's his favorite
toy dude.
He loves it.
My dad's like kind of take itaway because he like Runs on the
wooden floors with it and it'slike we're allowed in the
knowing.
Oh yeah, yeah, he loves thatthing so we were it's a remember
.
Speaker 3 (01:09:43):
We were talking about
James just now.
Remember when we went to the itwas the Falcons game and I
can't remember who is there.
I think it was Ramos, maybeVictor, and we were very nervous
and you're like, dude, he'sgonna win, it'll be fine.
Do you remember that?
Oh yeah, dude.
Speaker 1 (01:09:58):
And then he like led
the through a beautiful
touchdown pass.
Win the game with like twoseconds left.
Speaker 3 (01:10:03):
Yeah, and we're on
the edge of our seats and you're
just like leaning back.
You're like he's, this is whathe does, he's just gonna win it.
Just give him a few minutes.
He went right down the field, wanted.
Speaker 1 (01:10:13):
Dude, that is what he
used to do, man.
He used to be so fun to watchand the best part was is that
next year Everyone startedhating us so much and Then we'd
be down and then my phone wouldbe blown up.
Everyone and their mother wouldbe like shit talking and then
we'd come back and win by likethree touchdowns, you know, and
it's just like.
It's just what this guy does, do.
He throws a pick, looks likeshit.
For the first couple minuteswe're down 14, nothing and the
(01:10:36):
next thing you know, they'rewinning 38, 14,.
You know, yeah, he's a, hedeserves a shot.
I mean, if I'm who did the sametap, who's their backup?
Speaker 4 (01:10:44):
or or Really did.
Speaker 1 (01:10:47):
I mean I know I've
never understood it I obviously
with the bucks it made sense heshould get Tom ready, right.
But if he just got some old, like average veteran, like why
not just give James a shot?
I mean he's got the talent.
If someone could just get himto maybe not throw 50
interceptions, he'd be crushing.
Speaker 5 (01:11:07):
Well, he got Lasek,
remember you guys?
Speaker 1 (01:11:09):
ice-fix, and now you
can see yeah, I mean he's got
all the tools and it's not likehe's not Anthony Richardson who,
like, is Athletic but doesn'tknow how to play quarterback
right.
Barstool's post you know when.
Sorry, yet Barstool.
Barstool was posted.
(01:11:30):
You know every time, every timelike someone got drafted this
year and like their post.
When Anthony Richardson Gotdrafted was could be really good
if he learns how to playquarterback or if he could.
Speaker 5 (01:11:42):
Yeah, what's crazy is
how high he's going in fantasy.
Like people are actuallydrafting this guy in fantasy.
I'm like what, why he's gonnathrow like three picks a game.
I.
Speaker 4 (01:11:54):
Yeah, do one for like
60 yards a game.
I.
Speaker 1 (01:11:57):
Mean, he's an
athletic, pretty good rushing
yards.
He just he's so inaccurate dude, I can't, I don't know, I don't
see it, but and that's not evenme, because I didn't want to be
either Christmas dad.
But you know, maybe two will begood.
Speaker 4 (01:12:13):
Be, fair to him,
though.
Everything coming out of Indywas all good things, though,
during camp he had like a 45%completion percentage.
Speaker 1 (01:12:23):
This precinct I want
you talking about.
Speaker 5 (01:12:27):
I was gonna say
courted you, watch the precinct
games.
Speaker 1 (01:12:31):
Me all right.
Well, he does that thing wherehe like throws like this you
know I'm talking about he likewalks in and tries to slant like
this and throws it like fiveyards behind a guy, right to the
linebacker.
I don't know why he still doesthat.
Speaker 5 (01:12:45):
I was like his second
throw in the NFL was the Bills
game way through like side armright to a defender for a pick
six.
Speaker 1 (01:12:52):
He did it in the FSU
game.
He's just like here you go.
It's like all right, cool Dude, you guys are actually moving
the ball.
Speaker 5 (01:12:59):
Yeah no speaking of
toa, is it like?
Is it this is the year right, like if to a can't like?
Yeah, I know, last year waslike is he healthy as he not?
Is like when he's healthy, youguys were good, but is this like
?
We got to do it this year or orwe're moving on, or you think
it's just about the offensiveline, the pieces around them?
Speaker 1 (01:13:21):
So offensive line yes
, I'm not hopping on the train
because the offensive line stillstinks and they're one injury
away From.
I mean to already gets hurtanytime.
Someone like looks at him wrong, you know.
Speaker 5 (01:13:36):
So it's like he's not
gonna well, how about just
don't put him in the game whenhe's concussed?
How about let's start with that?
Let's just if he could stand up.
He's good, but he's wobbled.
Let's take him out.
Speaker 1 (01:13:48):
Yeah, yeah, no, I uh,
I don't know man, he's just
your backup.
Mike White, they got.
Speaker 5 (01:13:55):
Mike White oh he's
good.
Speaker 1 (01:13:56):
He's good usf yeah,
he's actually.
He got a concussion as well, soit's the backup right now.
I'm sorry, thompson, the likehe got knocked out last year.
Yeah well, he got not.
He got a concussion and thepreseason, I think it was.
But I don't know, man, thedolphins are just Like I can buy
in the floor stage because I'veseen it you know, but like I
(01:14:19):
can't buy into the dolphins, right, I mean it's like they
should have a stretch last year.
Yeah, on paper they should win11 games.
I would say I feel like that'sreasonable and fair to expect.
Right, like if I'm an unbiased, not a dolphin span, I would say
that seems gonna win 10, 11games.
But the problem is the old linestinks.
(01:14:43):
So if they lose one guy in theold lines are winning seven
games and they're gonna lose aguy in the oh line, it's the
dolphins.
That's what happens.
I mean we get general Ramsey,he gets hurt immediately.
That is out till December.
Right, it's kind of just liketheir first, I don't know.
I mean, they didn't win a SuperBowl with damn.
Right now, make it make sense.
Yeah, no, is it too?
Speaker 4 (01:15:07):
on like his fourth
year of this rookie contract, so
he's only making like a millionor two.
Speaker 1 (01:15:11):
I Think he has One
more year on his rookie contract
.
Speaker 5 (01:15:17):
I Think that's why
it's next year would be the
fifth year option.
Right, it's like what DanielJones went through this
offseason.
That's what I'm saying like isthis?
Right, I gotta make a decisionhere or is it like we're just
all in on to.
If he's healthy, we're good, Iwould say that they're probably
in my mind.
Speaker 1 (01:15:35):
Yes, it's make or
break this year, right, I mean,
if I'm, if I'm the GM, if hecan't say healthy, if, because
to me it's that's the problem,right, we've, we've seen that if
he's healthy, he's pretty good.
Some would argue really reallygood.
I mean he points.
Last year he looked amazing, you know man that ravens game
(01:15:57):
last year.
Speaker 5 (01:15:58):
You're like six
touchdowns.
Speaker 1 (01:15:59):
Yeah, and I mean he's
shown that he can do it.
Speaker 4 (01:16:02):
It's just my man is
the most accurate, most accurate
quarterback in the league, according to Tyree kill.
Speaker 1 (01:16:08):
So yeah, I mean he is
.
And I mean, andrew, you were onthat zoom where we watched the
NFL draft, where we drafted himright and I was like the other
person not so bright.
In my house we had like 20people over and everyone was
freaking out the mix because Iwant to Take in Herbert.
Yeah, that's, that's what Iwould have done, but nobody
listens to me.
(01:16:28):
You know, I just uh, myconcerns always been he's injury
prone and it's not one thing, right, it's not like he Messed
up his ACL, it's like his anklesand his knees and his wrist and
his thumb and his ribs.
And then then it was theconcussions last year and what's
gonna be this year?
Is it gonna be more concussions?
(01:16:48):
Is he gonna Break his arm?
I, you know it's unfortunatebecause he seems like a nice kid
and he's fun to watch.
If he stays healthy, they'llwin.
They'll win some 11 games and,you know, compete and like a
playoff game or two, becausethey have a lot of talent.
Yeah, I think it's make orbreak for him and my mind,
(01:17:09):
because if he can't stay healthythis year, it's like, well,
when are we gonna be able torely on you, you know, and right
we need you at least 15 gamesout of the year.
Maybe you miss one or two gameshere and there, but so they'll
probably because they don'treally have any other option.
Like, what are they gonna do,you know?
So they'll probably pick upthat fifth year option, no
matter what.
Speaker 5 (01:17:29):
But yeah, well, I
mean the thing with this year
your defense is gonna be reallygood.
I think you might be the bestdefense in the NFL this year.
Yeah, fangio, I mean you gotthat defensive line is gonna be
insane, your secondaries thebest in the NFL Probably.
Maybe the Chats are a littlebetter, but yeah, I think it's
(01:17:49):
just you're playing a reallyhard division and your schedule
is brutal.
I mean, your first two gamesyou're at the Chargers and then
doing one, so it's, it's gonnabe tough sled, but I think you
get the defense to do it.
Speaker 1 (01:18:01):
Yeah, big Fangio is
like the pickup.
Nobody's talking about that.
I think it's gonna make a hugedifference on the team.
Speaker 3 (01:18:08):
I don't know.
Let's talk about it.
Hey Alex, what are you, what'syour, what's your prediction for
the Pats record this year?
Speaker 1 (01:18:18):
Well, you know, matt
Jones is top-ten quarterback,
according to you know, all theESPN analysts last year hey,
they cut everybody else today,so they're all in on Matt Jones.
Speaker 5 (01:18:28):
They are a Zappy.
Speaker 1 (01:18:29):
They cut everybody,
only Mac Jones now actually got
a missed call from BillBelichick about 15 minutes ago.
Maybe that was about I told.
Speaker 5 (01:18:38):
He's the only
quarterback on the roster.
Speaker 1 (01:18:40):
They cut everybody
else.
You know what I I told manchertoday.
I texted him I said maybethey're bringing Edwin back to
be back up quarterback.
Speaker 3 (01:18:51):
We'll have to get him
on a talk.
New England, that'll behilarious.
Speaker 1 (01:18:54):
Yeah, they.
If the dolphins beat the Pats, that that's a week.
We should bring them on.
Speaker 5 (01:19:00):
No, let's wait to the
.
Let's wait.
The Pats are oh and for becausethey play Eagles, dolphins,
jets, cowboys to start theseason.
Oh.
Speaker 1 (01:19:08):
Yeah, I don't think
we're gonna be too good.
I mean, the defense will begood, but the offense stinks,
dude.
I mean they got away with nothaving any good players on
offense.
They kept picking these randomwhite dudes from like Publix and
saying, hey, come play receiverfor us.
All you got it.
All you got to do is like runover there and not even be
looking and Tom Brady's gonnahit you straight in the hands,
like you don't even have to tryto catch it, it's just your
(01:19:29):
body's gonna catch it becauseit's gonna be so perfectly
thrown.
Speaker 3 (01:19:32):
You know, and yeah,
they, they got away with it all
those years man, they.
Speaker 1 (01:19:38):
They had a couple
good receivers here and there.
It's not like they had notalent, but they would pick up
random running backs no one hadever heard of and they Tom Brady
just made the whole thing clickman, and without him in, there
it's you, is the offense stinks?
I Don't think.
Max second, he's like two of it, not as good, you know there's
their wide receivers are jujuand Devonte Parker.
Speaker 5 (01:20:03):
Devonte do for your,
your quarterback, I mean.
And then they signed Zeke likethat was their big offense
offseason move.
Speaker 1 (01:20:11):
Yeah, that's, yeah.
That offense gonna be scary wasZeke in there, I tell you.
Speaker 3 (01:20:15):
I'm concerned.
Speaker 1 (01:20:19):
Yeah, they're gonna
win like seven games.
What do you?
Speaker 5 (01:20:22):
think I don't.
I think, yeah, I don't evenknow.
I Just wonder is it, could heget bad enough that Bell Jakes
just retires completely likethey'd have no hope?
That's the thing, like what.
They don't have any young guyson this team.
They're gonna be building forthe future like Mack Jones.
I mean, he's not the guy.
We all know he's not the guy.
Speaker 1 (01:20:42):
Yeah, it's almost
like Bill's just sticking in
there so you can pass down Shula, or like number one all-time
wins, right, like I think.
That's like three seasons awayor something like that.
I can't remember the number, but With the pace he's at now
it's a couple actually.
Here's added to that.
Speaker 5 (01:21:00):
Let's see.
Speaker 4 (01:21:04):
All right, I need to
go here in a second, by the way.
Speaker 3 (01:21:06):
Yeah same, I was
gonna check in with you guys.
You guys ready to wrap up?
Speaker 5 (01:21:10):
Yeah, he's.
He's 30 wins behind Chula rightnow.
They'll check Like six years,so that's more than three years.
Speaker 1 (01:21:20):
He went in 13 games a
year.
Yeah, that might be for fourseasons then, and he's all I
mean, any pretty old.
Speaker 5 (01:21:29):
He is 71.
Wow, I did not realize he's 71.
Speaker 4 (01:21:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:21:35):
Amy's getting old
yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:21:38):
Well he's, you know,
maybe in 10 years he can run for
president.
Speaker 4 (01:21:45):
This young hot shot
out of Boston 71 is the new 20,
now dude.
Speaker 5 (01:21:54):
Yeah, wow, and Shula
only coached a 65.
Shula did that.
Can you imagine a Belecek Trump?
Speaker 4 (01:22:02):
debate Belecek Trump?
That would be crazy.
Speaker 3 (01:22:09):
Wrong, that would be
awesome.
Wrong, oh man Belecek versusTrump Way in the comments.
Speaker 1 (01:22:21):
Yeah, the debates are
going to be.
Must watch TV this year, especially without Joe Biden's
kind of like definitely lost acouple steps since the 2021.
Speaker 3 (01:22:31):
Trump's just going to
be like oh, I can't wait.
Speaker 1 (01:22:34):
Trump's just going to
be like shit talking the whole
time.
Speaker 5 (01:22:37):
Dude, dude.
What happened to DeSantis?
I haven't been paying attention, but no one likes this guy
anymore.
What happened to him?
Speaker 1 (01:22:45):
He's weird dude, he
was like a year ago.
Speaker 5 (01:22:49):
Everybody thought
this was good.
He was going to take down Trump.
Speaker 4 (01:22:53):
Everyone said he was
Trump, but smarter or something.
Speaker 5 (01:22:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:22:57):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (01:22:59):
I haven't been
falling at all, but I don't know
why everybody just decided likeeveryone loved him during COVID
.
Speaker 1 (01:23:05):
Well, I think people
still really like him, but like
Trump's, got that like 40% thatare like Trump cultists, almost
so they're like we're with them,no matter what Steve Like,
we're with them, no matter whatdude Steve.
Hopefully Steve listens, butyeah.
Speaker 3 (01:23:25):
Let's get Steve on to
talk Trump.
Speaker 1 (01:23:28):
If you have a Ramos
on here, then you must watch
podcast.
Speaker 4 (01:23:34):
Oh my god,
pay-per-view.
Speaker 1 (01:23:38):
See.
Speaker 4 (01:23:39):
I'm just like they're
all.
Speaker 1 (01:23:40):
They're all idiots
dude, they're both idiots.
Speaker 3 (01:23:44):
Steve, you're wrong.
Speaker 4 (01:23:45):
I'm not wrong, Steve.
I've heard that nobody likesMike Pence.
That's the only thing I'vereally heard.
Speaker 5 (01:23:54):
Oh, they've been
after him for years, yeah.
I mean you know he didn't dowhat's right, man, he didn't.
That was the feeling.
He just didn't do what's right,I love that.
Speaker 1 (01:24:10):
he's just like no, I
couldn't have just overturned
the election.
I just did what I'm supposed todo.
I don't know what you want fromme.
Speaker 5 (01:24:18):
He's the biggest rule
follower you can find.
I mean, I don't understand whatpeople thought.
You know they totally.
Speaker 1 (01:24:23):
when Trump ran, they
were like you have such a big
personality, you need to get awet piece of white bread to be
your vice president, exactly.
Well, trump's a lot of vicepresidents going to overshadow
him, you know.
I mean he wants to be in thespotlight.
Speaker 3 (01:24:41):
Right, yeah, I don't
know.
Speaker 1 (01:24:42):
You know me, I'm like
, I like my candidates more like
normal, so like.
Speaker 2 (01:24:46):
Rubio or like.
Speaker 1 (01:24:47):
Nikki Haley, or
something that you know make
sense and all that insane, butTrump's must watch TV, I doubt.
Speaker 5 (01:24:56):
Yeah, I thought Nikki
Haley did a great job in the
first place.
She did.
Speaker 1 (01:25:01):
She's a.
I think she's pretty sharp andshe's she's smart.
Speaker 5 (01:25:05):
Normal.
If Trump was smart, he wouldmake her the running mate.
Speaker 1 (01:25:10):
Yeah, I think so, and
I think that might be who he
picks If he actually wants towin and not just lose and say he
really won, I think.
I think his smart pick would beher by far.
Yes, that's pick Tim Scott'sreally good too.
Out of South Carolina, he'd bea good pick.
Speaker 3 (01:25:29):
Yeah, how old is
Trump?
Speaker 5 (01:25:32):
It's the 70, 76.
Speaker 3 (01:25:36):
Say 75.
Speaker 5 (01:25:38):
77.
Speaker 3 (01:25:39):
77.
Oh my goodness, they're both soold.
So, biden, what's Biden's?
Biden's 81.
80.
80?
Wow, wow.
Speaker 1 (01:25:48):
He's that old.
The problem is is that Bidenacts like he's 97 and Trump acts
like he's 60.
Speaker 5 (01:26:01):
He acts like he's in
the nursing home.
Speaker 1 (01:26:03):
Dude I'll just never
forget like the debates with
Hillary were so bad.
And I just remember I wastelling Taylor because I like to
watch the debates and I'm likeyou got to watch this and I just
remember telling her like thisdebate's about to be bad because
Trump at least used to befriends with Hillary.
He's never liked Biden and I'mlike, so these debates are going
to go off the rails and she canonly watch like 15 minutes.
(01:26:23):
She's like I can't watch thisanymore because he's just
interrupting the whole time.
Speaker 5 (01:26:28):
You don't remember
the first debate when they
literally could.
They asked one question andthen it was just them just going
into the entire.
They couldn't even do theyended it with like I don't even
know how to interpret what justhappened.
Speaker 1 (01:26:39):
Other other countries
.
It was crazy, you got to watchus and just be like what the
hell is going on.
Speaker 4 (01:26:46):
Have you guys seen
the Shane Gillis skit about that
, about Trump?
No, shane Gillis, see thecomedian.
I see that new Okay, I thinkTrump impression.
But he also did a part of hisstandup routine that's on
YouTube about the debates.
It's hilarious.
Speaker 1 (01:27:07):
Oh it's.
They need to stop putting themon like Fox and CNN and start
putting them on Comedy Central, because that's what it is.
I mean, that's like.
Trump is so funny dude, though, like I'll never forget when
when he was running in 2016, andyou know I forget what he was
you know he used to call intolike all the morning shows, like
(01:27:28):
every morning, like evenmorning show he was.
They loved them.
Back then he was on there allthe time and I remember there
they were, like showing him allthe celebrities that said they
were going to move to Canada, ofTrump one and like.
Speaker 2 (01:27:39):
One of them was Rosie
O'Vonnel, and you know I hate
Rosie.
Speaker 1 (01:27:42):
O'Vonnel.
He's like on the phone so youjust see like the picture of him
and he's like calling in fromhis cell phone and he just goes.
Wait, rosie O'Vonnel said thatand he goes.
Wow, he goes.
That's.
I'm going to hang off thisphone call and start campaigning
immediately, because that justmade my election so much more
important.
Rosie O'Vonnel is going to moveto Canada.
(01:28:03):
I'm going to get off the phoneand immediately start
campaigning.
But, dude, if he would just actlike that and stop getting so
butt hurt all the time, peoplelove him.
Speaker 2 (01:28:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:28:16):
I mean it's just,
it's like fragile ego dude gets
in the way Dude, stop talkingabout 2020, just talk about
right now.
Like, stop talking about that, just talk about right now, not
hard.
Speaker 1 (01:28:27):
Any level headed
person because like I wasn't a
huge fan, but like any levelheaded person, even like
moderate Democrats, would tellyou like hey, he did some good
things.
If he could just like shut hismouth and just like make the
occasional joke, dude, he wouldhave been so popular.
He really could have changedthe political game.
But he just he's his own worstenemy.
Speaker 5 (01:28:47):
Yeah, yeah, he just
talked about China.
Just talk about China, talkabout China, just talk about
China.
Speaker 1 (01:28:54):
And the best is you
can tell his like you know his
staffers will try to tell himlike keep him on script.
And then you can tell when heimmediately gets off script and
just starts like talking aboutshit.
Nobody knows what he's talkingabout and it's like oh God, here
we go.
This press conference is goingto be two hours, we should do a
debate.
Speaker 4 (01:29:12):
We.
Speaker 1 (01:29:13):
Should do a debate
Watch party.
That'd be great.
That's going to be must watch.
Oh my God Please.
Speaker 5 (01:29:16):
It would be so funny.
Please get Ramas in here too.
I just just to have the banterback and forth.
It'd be so funny to say Ibelieve I would leave.
Someone would leave, yeah, someone would have to leave.
Speaker 1 (01:29:27):
We should, we should
hang out, sit our chairs just
far back enough to where no onenotices and have, like him and
Steve's, chairs sliding down andthen just pull, pull out the
drinks and just watch the trainwreck unfold, but their chairs
on opposite ends, right, sowe're just looking back and
forth.
Speaker 4 (01:29:46):
That's.
That's that's the setup.
I want man Cause for me it'slike front row, front row seat.
Speaker 1 (01:29:52):
We're screwed either
way, so I might as well enjoy
the.
Enjoy the disaster.
Yep Dude, I cannot believewe're going to run this back.
Speaker 5 (01:30:00):
It's so fucking
stupid.
We're running it back, baby.
Speaker 1 (01:30:09):
This is America.
I love it.
Cause, like if you if you lookat the polls, like 70% of
Americans don't want the rematch, but it's still going to happen
and nobody knows how that's soawesome.
I mean literally best casescenario, One of the best case
scenario.
Speaker 5 (01:30:24):
All right, edit that
part out.
Speaker 1 (01:30:26):
The FBI is going to
be watching.
Chris cut that door.
Speaker 5 (01:30:33):
Yeah, I'll cut that
out.
That's like just bleep.
That Put the bleep in there, chris.
Speaker 3 (01:30:42):
Yeah, yeah, is
someone man?
Yeah, it's a, yeah, it's good.
Speaker 1 (01:30:46):
Should we, should we
wrap up, get everyone on our way
and get hurricane hunkered downyeah.
Speaker 4 (01:30:51):
Go hunker down boys.
Speaker 3 (01:30:52):
Yeah, you're ready
for this All right so you all
are buying the drinks.
Speaker 1 (01:31:02):
You're all buying me
drinks before the state wins on
Sunday, since you all picked LSU.
Speaker 3 (01:31:07):
Got it?
Yeah, good Hell, yeah, yeah, otherwise, yeah, but if we lose
that bet, I'll cut it out.
All right, it's either way.
Speaker 4 (01:31:14):
It's going to be a
good game.
It's going to be a great game,yeah.
It's going to be a great game.
Speaker 5 (01:31:20):
It's going to be a
great game.
Yeah, it's going to be a greatgame.
Speaker 4 (01:31:22):
Football, so back.
Speaker 1 (01:31:24):
Looking back, those
games are always great, but like
during them it's like sostressful.
But yeah, it'll be a great game.
Speaker 5 (01:31:32):
Last year was insane
man, when they scored that last
second touchdown they missed theextra point.
I mean it was incredible,Awesome.
Speaker 1 (01:31:38):
And then we fumbled
it Like we totally screwed up.
We should have punched it inyeah, go up by.
Like what?
What would that have been?
Speaker 5 (01:31:46):
Two touchdowns.
You guys almost choked away thegame.
You guys had the game andalmost choked it away.
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:31:52):
Yeah, and then people
forget that they I forget
exactly what the rule was, butLSU shouldn't have even gotten
the chance to score thattouchdown because I think the
guy like they ran out of time, the guy was down in balance and
like they didn't, but for somereason they gave them a second
on the clock, so like the gameshould have been over before it
was over and then we blocked thekick.
(01:32:12):
It was just crazy.
College football is why it'sthe best.
Speaker 4 (01:32:14):
What a what is this
game?
Is it an eight four matchup?
What is LSU or five?
Speaker 5 (01:32:21):
I think the five and
eight to five.
Yeah, I will say.
The one thing that does suckabout the rule change for this
year is not stopping the clockon first day.
I don't understand why they didthat.
The games went so much fasterover the weekend.
It's going to suck Like why arewe shortening the games?
We need to enjoy this, savor it.
(01:32:42):
It's not baseball.
We're not trying to speed upthe game.
Speaker 1 (01:32:45):
If they're going to
do it.
It makes more sense if they'replaying a couple extra games,
like during the season, like yousaid, like maybe next year it
makes fan play off.
But yeah, it's like yeah, college football is like the
best.
You don't want the games to goby too fast, right?
Yeah, I'll be watching when theGators lose on Thursday at
Corey, so we'll see.
Hopefully we can.
(01:33:06):
We can talk about that onetogether.
Speaker 4 (01:33:10):
I mean we can both
just bitch out grand merch
together.
I'm fine with that.
Speaker 1 (01:33:15):
Dude, he's a lady,
he's good.
Thankfully he'll Billy.
Willie got him instead of aheart man.
Speaker 4 (01:33:23):
Yeah, thankfully bad
quarterbacks in the big 10.
Once they come to the SEC, theyget better.
Right, yeah, yeah, all right, all right, all right.
Speaker 5 (01:33:33):
All right, all right
yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:33:38):
It's good talking to
you guys.
Yeah, good seeing you, alex.
Good seeing you guys.
We'll talk soon.
Yeah, bye, boys.
Speaker 4 (01:33:45):
