Okay, the presentation that I have
designed for this particularconference is digital treasures
tech tools for teachers in theclassroom in the areas of math
and science.
We are in a society that isdefinitely heavy in the STEM
field, so we always want to keepour teachers abreast of all of
the latest websites, the newestpodcasts, all of the different

(01:19):
tools that they can use withinthe classroom.

that right?

Speaker 3 (01:36):
Absolutely, absolutely Again.
I am a lifelong learner.
So because I'm a lifelonglifelong learner, I have
recently graduated, not once, but twice, from two different
colleges, getting two differentdegrees simultaneously, while
teaching as a full-time teacherand being a full-time pageant

(01:59):
queen.
Okay so a lot on my plate yousure have.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
How did you get two degrees at the same time working
full time?

Speaker 3 (02:09):
well, it was a lot of late nights and early mornings
I tell you um, I again, once Iset my mind to something, I find
a way.
Um, that's one of the things II feel like you should sacrifice
for what you love, and I'm alover of knowledge, so I put
that sacrifice towardseverything that I do, and I try
to put my passion in everythingI do, especially for my students

(02:32):
.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
Oh, that is so wonderful.
What are your degrees in?

Well, the first degree that I just received was
a master's in instructionalleadership Wonderful.
And then I also have a degreefrom the North Carolina College
of Theology as well.

Speaker 1 (03:41):
Wow, that is great.
That's two masters.
Is that right?
Two degrees?

Speaker 3 (03:45):
yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
That is amazing Shabiria, amazing Shabiria.
And can you tell me a bit aboutyour journey, from what helped
you get to the point of you knowhere?
You were in a different field,I understand, in college, and
then you made a decision you'regoing to go and be going
education.

Speaker 3 (04:03):
Yes, so I did start off in the College of
Engineering.
I went to school for electricalengineering for four years.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
And so on that journey it was really
interesting being the onlyfemale in a lot of my courses
and things of that nature.
And so all of a sudden I justgot this unction that I should
be teaching Now.
Mind you, I did not want to bea classroom teacher, I know.
I saw a lot of the things thatmy teachers had to deal with.

(04:35):
I was like, no, I don't want todo that.
But as I sat back and reflectedI realized that that's what I
had been doing all the time.
I had been teaching all thetime, teaching in my church,
teaching in my school, teaching, you know, the kids in my
neighborhood, just teaching allthe time.
And I also realized that I hada rapport with students where I

(04:56):
was able to get younger kids todo things faster than the adults
could do them, even though Iwas a child at the time.
So again that teaching hasalways been with me.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
That's incredible.
And now you did thispresentation here today.
So you're giving back to theAlabama ETC, yes, and what are
you hoping to get out of AlabamaETC in these sessions?

Speaker 3 (05:19):
Again taking back the knowledge, the wealth of
knowledge and things that I canuse and also pass on, not just
to my students but to my fellowco-workers as well.
Because, again, as long aswe're on the forefront of the
learning and the technologiesand the things that are going on
around us, that's definitelymore beneficial for the students
because they will have abroader perspective of all the

(05:42):
different career options thatthey have out there today.

Speaker 1 (05:45):
Oh, that is so awesome.
Well, once again, thank you somuch.
Shabiria Wolf here with us fromGlen Oaks Intermediate School
and that's in Fairfield CitySchools.
Thank you for joining us today.

Speaker 3 (05:59):
You are so more than welcome.
