Star Wars Escape Pod is the pod for you.
The Republic's choice of podcast anywhere in the galaxy.
If you are tuning in right now, don't go anywhere.
Leave a review and make it a good one.
(00:43):
I thought that was a pretty good take.
Pray I don't alter my performance any further.
Welcome to the first episode of Cantina Banter here on Star Wars Escape Pod,
a new sub-series bringing you entertainment like we've never done before.
Completely unscripted, unplanned podcast episodes on Star Wars Escape Pod in a whole new format.
(01:11):
Only slightly different than what you're used to.
Most weeks, we have something planned out, and this is how it's going to go.
For the last couple of years, Disney Plus has provided us with so many awesome things to talk about.
We've had animated shows, anime shows, live-action shows, and movies like you wouldn't believe.
(01:38):
And here we are, with a dry spell ahead of us, that we have not faced in quite some time.
We're going to tackle it together.
Other than Visions Vol. 3 coming out this fall, and Maul's Shadow Lord coming out next year,
there's not a lot ahead of us, despite all the announcements of future films.
(02:02):
But there's not a lot ahead of us to keep us rolling on a week-by-week basis
when it comes to talking about new Star Wars stuff.
So, Cantina Banter.
Very casual conversations.
We're going to be hanging out here.
We're going to be doing some wacky stuff.
We're going to be doing things that might not necessarily be
(02:23):
dedicated as, or classified as a normal Star Wars Escape Pod episode.
So, here we are, with a whole new sub-series that you can look for
and know which ones are Cantina Banters,
so that you know which ones to either avoid or to listen to,
(02:45):
depending on your preference of how things go
and what you like listening to as far as content goes.
We're doing these for fun.
After almost six years of running Star Wars Escape Pod,
what started the podcast in the beginning,
the idea of having conversations about Star Wars with friends
and then being hit with masses of things to talk about on a weekly basis,
(03:10):
here we are, coming full circle,
and we're going back to basics.
And we've got this whole fresh new intro
specifically for Cantina Banter episodes,
so don't worry.
The regular Star Wars Escape Pod,
the one you're used to,
is not going away.
Those are for our mainstream episodes,
(03:31):
but these Cantina Banter episodes are going to have
a bit of a different, wacky kind of vibe to them.
We're going to be keeping things pretty casual,
pretty chill,
completely unscripted and unplanned.
Like I said, we're all coming here
into the recording room,
into the Escape Pod,
to just have a nice, casual conversation about something.
(03:52):
And a lot of the time,
it's not going to be pre-planned ahead.
We're just going to be sitting down,
a couple of friends,
and having those chats.
And it'll be a great way to get new people on
just to get to know them.
And from one Star Wars fan to another,
just really have those initial conversations
and those initial impressions about things.
(04:13):
And really appreciating each other
and the stories that we love so much.
And I think that's really
where Cantina Banter is going to shine.
And, you know, bringing guests on initially
to Cantina Banter
and then possibly even rolling them out
into individual, very niche, specific topics
(04:34):
that we tend to have on Star Wars Escape Pod
in the format that you're used to.
And, you know,
maybe some people will appreciate that kind of thing.
I know we had a couple of guests on at one point
about a year and a half ago.
Now, for one of the Bucketheads,
interviews that we did with those guys.
(04:56):
And, you know,
and one of those fellows was awesome, dude.
So shout out to Adam.
But, you know,
we actually got chatting afterwards,
after the whole thing was over.
And, you know,
he offered to come on
and basically just give a nice,
thorough presentation of the dark times
(05:17):
during the 90s
when Dark Horse basically saved Star Wars
for a lot of people
when there was nothing happening back then.
A big dry spell as well.
And so he gave a whole presentation for us
and everything.
And, you know,
that wouldn't have happened
if we hadn't had like a nice casual chat
after we finished the recording.
So, you know,
and that chat isn't even recorded.
(05:38):
It's not on air or anything like that.
So, but that's the whole point
of doing Cantina Banter
is to have those traditionally
off-mic conversations,
those unscripted, unplanned chats.
That's what Cantina Banter is for.
And it's a bit risky
because, you know,
who knows?
(05:58):
You know,
they might,
they could be boring
for all we know.
But, you know,
I feel like people do like
that kind of thing.
And there is a bit of a,
a bit of a call for it at times.
And, and so we're hoping that
Cantina Banter
keeps things fresh and exciting.
And as an audience,
we want to get you involved as well.
