Then we're the pod!
This is escape!
Welcome back to Star Wars Escape Pod.
I'm your host, Josh, and we have our co-host Blake joining us this week.
We are going over the Visions Volume 3 trailer as well as a few other things
(00:52):
that just popped up on the radar for this month in Star Wars, if you will.
October, 2025.
And yeah, we're just going to be having some nice casual Star Wars chat as usual.
So without further ado, let's get into it.
Another happy landing.

(03:08):
all right welcome back ahoy it looks like there's some sequel storylines in there am i crazy
gotta recognize some stuff from previous uh visions series yeah i mean it well there yeah
and you would be right uh there is two sequel episodes in this volume three to some of the
(03:30):
episodes that we saw in season one i believe so uh let's actually uh let's run run through them
here um in the meantime before i pulled the list like how how did you respond to visions volume one
two when those came out i mean i definitely enjoyed watching them uh i certainly had preferences to
some over others and i guess i was part of a common opinion because my favorite one is the one that's
(03:53):
getting the mini series so which i'm pretty excited about that's gonna be super cool it's like a seventh
jedi or something right yeah the ninth jedi yeah yeah yeah so uh the first one on the list is the
dual payback and that was like the prominent one from volume one that really received i think it
was the first one of the series actually i think so that was the one that really spearheaded the
(04:14):
series in general just like artistically that was the one that they played a lot of the trailer of
right that was the one at the japan star wars celebration this past year uh people could buy
um the celebration exclusive six inch series you know characters from it yeah and it was like the
the exclusive box of like the main guy and his droid and you know uh so that that's that's getting a
(04:37):
sequel episode that's kamikaze i thought i recognized the toilek in that as well it must be the
yeah i don't i forget i i honestly i need to watch all those again like all the vision episodes like i need
to go through all those again because in way too long but um the second episode on the list is called
the lost ones uh the other sequel that you're referring to is the ninth jedi child of hope that
(05:01):
one's by production ig uh yuko's treasure the smuggler the bounty hunters the song of four wings the bird
of paradise and uh the final episode it's called black so uh one of them had very mega man feels uh
yeah um i'm assuming that's the song of four wings uh if i was to take a guess i mean the club we saw
(05:23):
was a girl's jet pack so that would make sense yeah well it was an x-wing she was like she was
the x-wing comes four wings yeah yeah i didn't realize it was an x-wing yeah it's it was i think
playing into that transformers sort of mega man voltron sort of thing okay someone's probably shaking
their head right now like right this guy knows nothing um i don't know i don't know exactly like
(05:47):
what it was like playing into precisely but it certainly looked like she had a suit that
transformed into kind of like came on 200 into a bit of a kind of yeah was that an x-wing that
should just kind of like a jet pack it reminded me a bit of like starscream from transformers where he
like jumps up and then and then they fires off as like a jet fighter type thing like it was yeah it
(06:13):
did have that but before that when the suit was like flying and attaching to her it reminded me
more of iron man uh like in all the pieces yeah the later one where they they automatically fly
attached to him yeah i can see that um man there's so much stuff in this trailer it's it's kind of hard
to unpack honestly like action packed well because it's an anthology series like it's really hard to
(06:34):
um it's really hard to kind of take it in as which one's which and what are we looking at and all
all of them are very arts going by art style yeah and all pretty different stylistically you know
definitely 100 the dual payback is the black and white ones yeah um so we're gonna see some ewoks
showing up in that one i feel like the dual in general was like still very faithful to original
(06:59):
star wars designs other than the weapons you know like the lightsabers are crazy they're very crazy
yeah but then like a lot of the other stuff was fairly an umbrella lightsaber yeah it was like
yeah this one i think she had like an arm guard yeah spider legs holding lightsabers yeah yeah um
but yeah i mean we we got a we got a shot of a wookie holding up an ewok in this one and man all
(07:24):
all of these different episodes for someone who's never seen star wars visions before uh it is not canon
you know it is not uh designed to fit into the existing star wars lore or mythology as what you know it to be
um but they are rather a collection of short films um all inspired by star wars done by japanese and
(07:45):
international um anime uh studios studios yeah um using the star wars inspiration and designs and music
to create their own story however they want it to be right and and they're completely creatively in
charge of doing so so with that in mind you get some crazy like outcomes you know some crazy results
(08:07):
out of that and uh this story about um a kid who wanted to be in a rock band and play for job as palace
yeah that's right yeah well what there was a song that was like a pretty like i don't know that song
slapped pretty hard like i don't remember the music this is it right i think so yeah this is it most of
(08:28):
them didn't have rock music right played live at java's palace one night only
featuring max rebo as our opener
so i have a playlist called uh warzone drops which um is a song in it no but i'm i'm adding it to it
(09:02):
right now so i don't know are you familiar with my warzone drops uh playlist uh no but i immediately
know what it's for uh so yeah so i'm as you can probably guess it's whenever we decide to uh pop
in a pop in a warzone or the game or fortnight or any battle royale and right where you're flying
(09:24):
you know and we're all so bad but uh you know we just we just try it out and i'll play the music over
the over the discord call and we'll just listen to that nice yeah turn off that that terrible in-game
music and uh it's awesome i got some uh some real bangers on that on that playlist oh man tattooing
rhapsody's one of them now um it's funny because it auto-played it into this it auto-played the star
(09:47):
was eclipse trailer which i had entirely forgotten about yeah bryce goes that bryce was just talking
three years ago man that's uh that is one of our uh one of our backup topics today
is it that's funny all right it is now i guess it is okay so star wars visions uh comes out um
(10:09):
october 29th later this month which is uh very exciting because you know anyone who's looking to
do a bit of a halloween star wars party or anything like that you know you got something to your
favorite star wars character yeah you got something to throw on and uh you know that's that's kind of
cool do you remember those super cheesy anakin and obi-wan masks and fat like cheap costumes they
(10:31):
would do during like the 3d clone wars oh yeah i did you ever get one of those no well i see at the
point of when clone wars as was out i was at the point of being a little too old for those kind of
costumes like i mean it would have been extremely dorky if i had gotten one of those in like high
school you know what i mean but i mean um you're such a big fan thought you would have went for it
(10:54):
anyway i i did make a clone trooper costume in grade 12 before the helmets got good right with
a big wide lens yeah i had one of the full captain rex phase one helmets from hasbro okay and it had
the big thick visor rex they did a rex yeah uh it's from the uh standard clone all right so here it is
(11:17):
um that one right there with the big thick visor yeah that looks so goofy it looked so goofy man like
i don't know why they did that like let's uh give you better vision when you're playing it is but
nobody wants that yeah you know like i i love the helmets nowadays like you and i both yeah pretty
(11:37):
sweet yeah and i of course instantly bought rex phase two as soon as it came out it was just like
at that point it was just like uh i don't know take my money yeah i don't know if you ever get this
feeling when you buy something of like that's star wars based but but it's like it's just like a
it's more so it's like it's a tax you know how you pay your taxes every year and you know it's just
(11:58):
like you have a star wars tax you don't even well actually furthermore at least where we're from
you don't really need to go out of your way when you get paid from your job typically because the
taxes are already removed right like unless you run your own business unless you're running your own
business but i think the majority of people can probably relate to getting a paycheck taxes
already taken off and you get some at the end of the year if you work for a company they generally
(12:20):
do that for you yeah so and then you end up paying too much and then government sends you a rebate
at the end of the year right right so that's that's the status quo for a lot of people and i feel like
it's like okay well i already pay my taxes right when this helmet came out it was like oh i you've
already like you've already made me make that purchase like it was like you've you already
have my money when is it going to arrive at my door right you know what i mean like it's like a
(12:43):
for you for you and rex yeah yeah as soon as they come out with a phase two rex helmet it's like
well there goes that money they can charge anything and you'll be paid for it there it goes there it goes
there it goes out the door is there anything else i would fall under that they're running out of
helmets now right unless they start doing more of the obscure ones well we can we can actually take
a look at the whole the whole list right here if they get to the obscure ones i'm pretty excited
(13:05):
about the tank trooper from rogue one oh man well i think they're getting really close because uh they
do have a shore trooper now oh yeah if they're doing that that's probably the next biggest one
i definitely posted it then there's like somewhere there's like a one-off helmet from solo with the
it's like a kirlian speeder bike cop helmet it's like very specific right so the most recent ones
(13:32):
is um that is moff gideon from mandalorian season three and the stranger from the acolyte no next to
it oh the stranger stranger uh so the ones that have yet to come out are commander cody phase two uh
i did hear whispers that that is now finally entering the the us as far as uh
(13:53):
uh distribution uh
we got a phase two clone trooper helmet with the 501st markings on it uh man it took a long time to
get around to the death trooper yeah the death trooper will eventually be a thing next year uh
shore trooper is already out and uh the armor uh from the mandalorian is out uh that one's already
(14:17):
that one's been out for a while that one's been out for yeah like in maybe a year or something
have we looked into the quality of the shore trooper because i know some of these are kind of hit
and miss um i know that the armorer has not been highly yeah regarded because it's got that gold gold
excuse me someone someone did a comparison with the stranger helmet and the armor helmet and the
(14:40):
stranger turned out better than the armorer did um but that being said our mandalorian helmet our
dinjarin helmet turned out really well and that's got a shiny finish on it too so that's true i think
it's kind of hit and miss it's not a full chrome though no it's well it's not no it's like a matte
metal yeah a brushed metal right it's one of those is one of those situations where i feel like they're
(15:01):
gonna go for like a cheap plastic finish you know what i mean when they do like that yeah it's gold
it's like a gold yeah yeah yeah yeah mold of plastic it's a hard one to lock down for sure um
but yeah the tank trooper would be a pretty sweet one to do uh seeing as they've done the shore trooper
now uh this one it's the specifically the shore trooper from andor uh the oh it's not the box has
(15:25):
the andor label on it uh anytime you buy any of the hasbro sets they always have a uh in the colored
stripe that goes across the box on the image they always have the movie or the show that it's
represented from so on the vader helmet the new 2.0 one it's uh represented from uh the obi-wan kenobi
show whereas the original one over here it's got one of those older boxes and uh they previously
(15:50):
didn't always do that um but this is from empire strikes back i believe yeah and um yeah the short
trooper from rogue one has like some blue on the top doesn't it i have blue around here i think it's
kind of i think they're all kind of the same there there is a some of them have like little logos on
i think one of them does have like it's like a red painted logo on the forehead on the other side
(16:14):
okay um i don't really know the details of the comparison between rogue one and the andor shore
trooper but um but this one is uh for if anyone really cares about the box um it does not say rogue
one on it it says andor so yeah just throwing it out there uh however the death trooper i think does
say rogue one oh really across the stripe yeah and you can usually tell based on the color so rogue
(16:39):
one has all the action figures if you look at the rogue one action figure boxes they all use like
this teal and andor they use this kind of orangey red and i'm gonna run out of colors eventually here
yeah with uh with return of the jedi they always use uh bright green um for the ahsoka show they do
like a pale blue kind of a navy pale blue uh mandalorian they always use sort of a brownie
(17:04):
orange and um there's a few of the pictures on our list here that don't have the whole the box the
the box but and then um the clone wars animated series is represented with uh orange strip um across
uh that's their color that they use i believe um but you can tell x whoa see he's got it's a blue
helmet on the box but it's got an orange stripe on it and if you look over here at carson teva's
(17:29):
helmet it's the same color because they're both from the same series so that way uh if you line
them up on the shelf all the artwork on the side of the box so it has the character represented they
actually match up so if you have all the boxes in a row it'll create sort of this panoramic image
of all the characters do you collect the boxes i recently threw all of my boxes out
i know uh i've been holding on to them you know it would take up so much space way too long yeah
(17:55):
and uh the same one point and i just i thought to myself you know what it's time it's time to just
we're clearing out we're getting ac installed uh we're clear i just got to get rid of these boxes so
eventually i did i did part part ways with the boxes and you know realistically i'm like why am i
keeping the boxes because it holds the value realistically am i ever going to sell these probably
(18:16):
not right yeah so what the heck you know may as well just you know forget it your kids when when
you pass away will be upset because they'll be out extra cash selling all your stuff yeah yeah that
that is that is true um also i just realized we have uh we have another guest joining us uh for this
week this episode so welcome back uh darian hello sir sakuri gar how are you guys doing doing good
(18:45):
thanks man yeah hopefully i hope you weren't lingering too long we're staring at a a video
and then an image so uh we didn't see the call uh the call thing but uh welcome back no worries it
actually wouldn't let me join tonight so it took me a while oh well uh you're sounding great and uh
it's always great to have uh have you back on so uh seeing as we're on the topic um do you collect
(19:07):
any of these star wars helmets or or if not like yeah the black series hasbro replicas or if not like
which one is kind of a more favorite of yours right now my favorite's got to be the cody helmet
i'm really disappointed i didn't notice that come up or rex actually rex is hands down my favorite
clone helmet oh man did you get a copy of it yet no i i've been pretty broke they've been cutting my
(19:31):
hours at work so i've been working multiple jobs i think that one's it's still pretty new so it'll be
available for a while that's actually the exact one that josh said when it came out like you might as
it's just it's a star wars tax yeah it's just i don't know if you're there for that but uh they
had my money like as soon as they launched it yeah as soon as the yeah as soon as the poster was there
yeah but uh but yeah we got the full list in the general chat i just i just poked it so um it's uh
(19:56):
it's up at the top but anyway um yeah so uh we were previously to this we got a bit sidetracked uh
we were talking a little bit about visions volume three um what is it about star wars visions that appeals to
you i'm not really a big fan of anime but i do love the concept that we're getting the same thing
that marvel was doing where we can explore stories that are what if in the star wars universe to me
(20:21):
that is very exciting i just wish it was a little less anime personal oh fair enough yeah yeah i guess
with the marvel one they they still have this what if scenario still ties into this marvel multiverse and
in a universe somewhere it still happened and it's still sort of marvel multiverse canon in a way
um but yeah this one is very like for the star wars universe where you know like fans are very um
(20:46):
you know very like i guess you know sometimes uh a little strong strongly positioned in sort of like
what's what's canon what's not and whatever you know and somewhere everyone falls under this um
you know this um what do you call it like a spectrum somewhere about how much you care about that
kind of stuff or not your personal canon yeah yeah yeah yeah exactly and uh and yeah as far as visions
(21:08):
is concerned it's it's kind of you know taking the opposite direction in terms of like well we're
making this without any consideration at all for you know who considers what canon because we're just
going to do what we want and we're just going to tell the best story possible with whatever art
style we want to do and uh for volume two there was actually some international uh studios that that
(21:29):
worked on visions which uh weren't specifically anime there was that one uh from england actually
who's uh mostly known for wallace and gromit um but they they did a star wars one too and that was
that was kind of an interesting one um you got some pretty crazy uh uh you know visual depictions of
of things sometimes depending on which studio you're watching and how they approach their art form
(21:51):
and stuff but anime is not for everybody it's certainly not really my thing it almost becomes
like just an animation star wars film festival yeah yeah it kind of does in fact it it really
does and in i almost kind of wish they harnessed that a bit more i feel like they should do like a
like a voting like you know okay like pick your top three and and then they give some sort of like
(22:12):
star wars award to like that that one you know what i mean like i think engaging with the fans on
like a level like that would be kind of cool lucasfilm used to be a lot better with that yeah they did
yeah i believe they actually used to do exactly that yeah they used to do the fan film awards yeah
that's true yeah you could get lucky and get the george lucas personal pick that's right
(22:35):
there also was a group a couple years ago that was basically doing that themselves i believe the
bucket heads were asked to help decide who was gonna win that's cool that was right when for the empire
started okay gotcha yeah no it's um i miss that kind of thing and we were also just last week
talking about they used to do this thing called march madness for a couple years in a row about
(22:56):
four years in a row and it was just this thing on star wars.com you have to vote for your favorite
character every every day or something or every few days it would you know you would get the results
back and you'd have to then vote for your favorite character in the new matchup and um it was just kind
of uh it's predictable but it was like it's kind of fun you know what i mean like it was just we're
speculating that all the original trilogy characters won every year yeah and i haven't
(23:21):
our four winners were uh were luke yoda vader and um did obi-wan obi-wan yeah was it alec guinness or
no i think that yeah no they i think they always did you and okay yeah they always used the latest
depiction of a character anakin didn't win well they used vader they don't separate they didn't
(23:42):
separate them as one it's one character yeah yeah with the way the fandom's gone recently do you
think it would stay the same if they were to restart that now it's a good question i feel like there's
certainly be a lot more competition yeah i think there's a lot more varied opinions than 10 years ago
yeah um there's also a lot more characters to potentially consider because of course as as predictable
(24:04):
as the outcomes were um uh they were they were still putting rebels was new at the time that's right
and they were still they were putting in characters from rebels in the in the mix and of course they
all lost but it was uh you know it's like they're up against like luke and chewbacca that's it right
you know like you know who you're gonna vote but now that there's more feature films yeah it would be
(24:25):
really as you said the mandalorians now household name right so yeah it could be that grogu would win
100 like yeah right i would really like to see that like who would win yoda or grogu you know like in a
popularity in a popularity contest like you know like you might get like the the hardcore old school
star wars fans voting for yoda but then you might have like this wave of new star wars fans like
(24:47):
voting for grogu or something it's definitely possible for sure yeah i feel like pong kraal's
got a real chance this time around right yeah yeah i feel like it's it's definitely a more interesting
when you start to consider like those kinds of characters too like if they didn't use any popular
characters and it's like hey like this week it's like this it's like um i don't know like
like the like the b-wave like a b-wave action yeah yeah like like a hondo actually why i mean
(25:13):
maybe hondo is like an a-list now yeah yeah like okay so maybe he's like b plus maybe like savagio
press savagio press and um i don't know like uh visago or something oh man um what's the
the guy who's part of the the isb yeah callus callus yeah put callus in there yeah hot callus
(25:33):
oh callus versus savage would be a very interesting matchup that's true that would be an interesting
one yeah you remember that whole hot callus move no you don't remember i don't remember
got enough hot callus oh come on all right fine you want to talk about hot callus
he doesn't want to talk about hot callus we knew he had to change his look we knew that it had to be
(25:55):
something that was still recognizably callus but also different i think i was the one that did the
design for end of season three where he's just got that little bit of hair and then that kind of
progressed i think on every iteration of callus like the hairstyle is just getting a little bit more
relaxed that was really the inspiration for what became hot callus which was he just literally let
his hair down he stopped using the imperial product and just let it get shaggy one of the things i like
(26:20):
to think the animation team added to it was like the little hair pieces on the side we always made
sure just have a little bit of movement in them and besides the hair the idea of a guy who's like
i was completely wrong and i'm turning it around and doing the right thing it's pretty hot that's
pretty interactive it's almost as if you join the rebellion got a better stylist these warm tone
(26:40):
colors these earth tones are better for him yeah they're better for him david's aware of it david oh
he's aware you know it wouldn't be hot callous without david's beautiful voice as david will tell
you 90 of the hotness is the voice we first showed an episode and dave finally saw him and they actually
in editorial cut together a reel with music coming in as he was walking and we sort of left that there
(27:04):
for a while and it was just it was so hilarious to just see him just like you're like wow he really
does look good i think it was like andy gutierrez or someone on the rebels recon they called him hot
callous i i think so or it was like some response to a tweet or something that was that they found
really funny and and i just remember you know seeing a lot about it at the time and it's pretty
(27:26):
funny i did not know about this there's some gifs and some memes and and yeah if you look up um star
wars hot callous now watch this just be josh has spent like months and months seeding this just to
mess with us people are after that that uh tops trading card of course what is it rule 34
what's that rule rule 34 of the internet oh man i forget all the rules on the internet
(27:50):
okay well i'll explain later there was a little piece of side news here i wanted to bring up do
you remember um we talked to a lovely guest earlier this was it this year or uh i think it was last year
our guest molly um last year last it was already last time flies man um well uh there was an update for
(28:11):
the uh disney's abandoned um galactic star cruiser and uh she was the person that that popped in my
head when i when i read this article of course but she did work there so that makes sense yeah um and uh
you know a great episode for anyone who hasn't listened to it uh if you want to kind of get to
know the digs link in the description yeah give josh more work i'll uh i'll try to remember to link it
(28:32):
down there uh but yeah it's it says uh i'll read this article off this is from all ears dot net so you know
take it with a little bit of a grain of salt there but um they write it's been almost two
years to the day since galactic star cruiser had its final voyage and closed its doors the final
excursion for guests took place september 28th to the 30th of 2024 and the building has remained
(28:56):
closed ever since leaving many guests wondering what would happen to it would it become a modified
hotel experience allowing guests to explore the epic areas without the same live entertainment factor
that made the cruise so to speak uh so unique but also as expensive as it was unfortunately no
back in january 2025 disney announced that the incredible space would be converted into offices
(29:22):
for disney imagineering and a permit for that construction was filed in late august now uh construction
is officially beginning but what does that look like so far a recent photo from uh at bio construct on
x formerly twitter shows an aerial view of what the building looks like currently while we can see
what appears to be some building materials outside it seems that any work so far is taking place inside
(29:47):
which makes sense as much as the conversion may occur on the inside we're not sure how much outdoor
construction we'll see at this time the permit for this construction transformation was filed back
on august 27th and list the project as project h the permit comes with a one-year expiration and is
assigned to balfour bd construction which is a majority contractor that disney often works with on large
(30:11):
scale projects when disney announced uh to the public why this particular offering didn't work out
um chairman josh damaro noted that while star cruiser represented a creative leap forward it didn't work
commercially uh that part's in quotes we also learned previously that walt disney imagineering will be
using the building as a hub for several expansion projects coming to disney world sources also say
(30:36):
that several play tests were conducted in that part of the old star cruiser building with cast members
filling in for paying guests but the tests would be for a potential dining experience in the theme park
not in star cruiser building itself so it's possible we could see some resemblance to the star cruiser
return someday but it would be on a much smaller scale and very likely wouldn't be the hotel cruise
(31:01):
type offering that we saw not work out here as disney has said this will work as a hub for imagineers
working on disney's upcoming projects we can only imagine that many discussions about villains land
or piston peak lands coming to magic kingdom as well as the new tropical americas uh in magic kingdom
and monsters inc land coming to hollywood studios will be held in these offices um and that's where the
(31:25):
article ends but um you have been to disney world with me i have and uh we we have also uh not together
in florida but separately enjoyed the uh experience of galaxy's edge yes and um you know we both thought
it was you know pretty uh pretty pretty nice you know it was really immersive they did a good job
(31:48):
very immersive yeah and kirk is uh experiencing his first time uh right now as we speak and um is he
still there he is he's been there for like several weeks uh yeah so he he is now in florida uh he is now
finished the other one he's finished yeah he so um he's now in florida at universal studios he
(32:08):
finished up there today he did two out of three parks um and uh now he's going back to walt disney
world tomorrow for hollywood studios and they're going to experience galaxy's edge in florida now and
you know he'll be able to make the comparison with with california um but that one is of course
the exact same it's just smaller copy right right with the exception now uh this is where this article
(32:31):
comes in of the uh gal of the galactic star cruiser experience which was only being built
up in florida at the time right and uh now knowing disney if anything is a success they'll make
another one and then you know duplicate their their their revenue on that on that thing um but
that's obviously not going to happen with galactic star cruiser so when they say this is potentially
(32:52):
becoming a partial experience once again for guests to uh sort of explore um i actually thought that
that was kind of interesting and and uh just to amuse the idea because i think when we we talked
with molly about galactic star cruiser she actually uh said how the guests were sort of always immersed
(33:13):
you know like when they were in the experience always all the time you're in this world right and then
there's like of course the day that you optionally can go into galaxy's edge and without breaking
immersion they had you in this sort of simulated shuttle experience yeah it put you into a blacked
out van basically yeah and it was like the inside was made to look like a shuttle yeah like a star
(33:37):
wars shuttle with like simulated windows and all that but the actual vehicle that you're riding on
i guess was either a a van or was it a van or some sort of like it's just some sort of a good
description is a van because it's just like a blacked out vehicle right so um i can't remember
exactly if it was like a van it like like a hundred percent just like this is a vehicle on wheels or if
(34:01):
it was like something on a track or what but um either way they managed to be able to get guests from
galaxy galactic star cruiser to galaxy's edge through those doors that open up next to where kylo ren's
shuttle is like there's like a sort of a hangar bay looking set of doors somewhere along that that
wall and that's where people could come and go from uh from the galactic star cruiser experience and
(34:26):
and that's only in florida right exactly so um i guess what would be really neat is if they did manage
to turn some of it into this restaurant especially that open lobby area where they did the stage like
you know ray and kylo ren fighting on the right you know that upper um ramp area and you know
they would like if they kept all that intact and made it sort of an extension of galaxy's edge and
(34:49):
then just had some kind of other experience happening in that space you know minus all the
crew rooms and the guest rooms which are now being turned into office spaces right like that main section
could still be very a valuable asset to the park and and you know provide some kind of interesting
things so like what would you like to see kind of like go in there if if they made that an extension of
(35:10):
the park i would love to see decorated like it's an abandoned ship you could explore like halloween
haunted house situation okay all right that'd be cool that'd be kind of neat yeah all right darian
what are your thoughts on that what would you like from uh from a um a reused asset like galactic star
cruiser so we've all played laser tag why can't they just give us like a lightsaber version of that
(35:33):
where you gotta go like an adventure i see i see i see so much fun with this but also so much high
risk of people getting just gets whacked in the face man that sounds amazing though i am an agent of
chaos running around the running around the building smacking other guests with a lightsaber sign me up
i was thinking just regular laser tag when you started at that point yeah i have to bring the
(36:00):
lightsabers no i have to take it to a dark place yeah uh laser like guns with light no no no no no
airsoft lightsabers uh yeah awesome anyway uh yeah i think i think it'd be uh pretty cool i think it
could be interesting to see what they do with it i think it would be kind of a waste of um a lot of
(36:23):
uh creatively designed material if they just turned the entire building into an office and you know
scrapped all this like such a waste it does you know it does because on the one hand like okay they
admitted it like it doesn't work financially for them to continue doing this it was a bold idea but
like there's just no way at that price point that that was the issue people couldn't keep up with that
(36:43):
you know like it was like because of investment costs and running costs oh i mean there's there's
there's a lot of costs right and running an experience like that like you know you have so
many trained actors basically oh yeah you have people 24 hours a day people to pay you have you
have you know best class theme park quality food you know to serve three meals a day for all these
(37:04):
people on board you know it's it's a it's a machine right like it's a it's an operating machine
and uh it's just i don't know if their return was that great you know like apparently recently
there's been a few people coming forward saying that it was actually really making a headway and
it was profitable it took a little while to get going but it actually went off faster than they
(37:25):
were expecting interesting i thought there was a big drop off of attendance i thought i thought so too
i keep hearing two different things you know it's it's kind of hard to pinpoint exactly what happened but
um yeah it's it's uh it is a shame you know at the end of the day it's like it's a shame that
this thing didn't succeed because it's a cool idea i think carnage aside sorry go ahead sorry
(37:47):
there's a little bit of a delay carnage aside i'm surprised they haven't filmed anything there
because it's a giant film set right that's a very good point yeah surprised they didn't film
um acolyte there yeah it's basically just a free set it's supposed to be uh supposed that's the
whole thing it was supposed to be a high republic era ship right like that was part of the selling
(38:10):
point of the multimedia high republic series that they were doing was like hey there's also this
thing in disney parks that's like but from this time period characters from yeah yeah so so like
trilogy yeah so like yeah it's been around that long okay it's like it's like a cruise ship that's
been like a luxury cruise ship that's been around in star wars like so was inside was it all like
(38:32):
worn out no it's been it's been okay i don't know if like if you've been on like a you know
like a cruise ship that's like 20 30 years old that's not that old i guess but it's like you
know they keep them up pretty well like they replace the carpets and they polish the banisters and like
you know it's like okay it's like it doesn't feel like super super new but it's like it doesn't
necessarily feel like ancient right and then star wars like nothing ever seems to change like ships and
(38:55):
stuff are all kind of like kind of the same refurbished on the inside it's like they're all kind of the
so if it's designed to be luxury back you know in star wars history somewhere it's probably the same
as a modern luxury star wars ship you know what i mean did either of you plan to go on the star
cruiser no i i like at that price point i was just like i was i would i would rather take that same
(39:17):
money and spend two weeks in the park because that's what it equaled out to at the time you know
this was a couple years ago when they launched the project and and uh you know the the prices have
since you know inflated a lot of at disney parks but um but at the time i think you know just to
just to have the bare minimum group you know you and maybe one other person uh in a room i think i
(39:39):
think it i think it equaled out to like a like a full was it like 4 000 usd or something it was it was
something like yeah it was basically the equivalent of of like a week and and a half or or two and in
just date you know park passes basically something like that it was um it's kind of surreal but uh but of
course you get your meals covered and you have a hotel as well and how many days was the whole
(40:01):
see that that was the thing it was like it's only a two day two night experience or something like
that right so i think that's what really kind of tripped like it might be different if it was like
a week-long thing because people do go on cruises for you know we could be like an actual cruise
basically yeah but i think because it was only like a two night experience type thing it's like wow this
(40:23):
is you know blink and you miss it type thing so it's it's it is it's kind of hard to justify at
that point um i would have also been more tempted if it was in like say the original trilogy era oh
that was gonna be my next question yeah for sure i think we talked about that a lot we did yeah at
the time we did like how much do you want to be in a hotel room that like gets attacked by the
(40:43):
separatist alliance you know or something like that you get that'd be a lot harder to pull off it
would be way harder to pull off but like you're not gonna fit a personal one inside is that a b1
or a droidica right right yeah i don't know like it's it is interesting um it is also interesting to
think how much further they could have gone with this like you know if they had deployable like
fighters that you could get into and they were many on solo style ride simulators that you're like
(41:07):
defending the halcyon legacy like in a little x-wing or something is disney disney should put more money
into it i think i think at that level like you know at that type of price point that you're
targeting it's like you got to make it a little bit longer and you have to have it a lot more
interactive in infused with yeah and i i mean undoubtedly i'm sure people had a great time but
(41:28):
i'm i'm just thinking like at that level you know you're already almost there it's like why not just
like go go all the way go all the way yeah you know we're yeah go all the way i mean pretty neat
would fly out like an x-wing or something yeah i mean like higher they have the technology to do
it like the han solar ride is that like it's basically just uh it's star tours but you're
driving it right and and so if they did that but made that experience exclusive to the halcyon legacy
(41:55):
then then it's not just a hotel two night experience sort of ordeal now it's oh now i'm getting access to
rise to otherwise i wouldn't be able to get access to or something like that right it just adds some
more extra appeal to it well that was part of the bridge experience right because you get to
do different stations then they kind of had like a gunnery station shields uh navigation communications
(42:18):
all that so that was part of that idea but the falcon ride right we're talking about no on the
halcyon if part of your adventure was like it was a live action role play idea for the whole weekend
right and you go through bridge training and then when you finish your bridge training
the first order attacks you and you have to actually run the ship during their attack
(42:40):
yeah there was forgotten about all this all the all the windows were like simulated as if you were in
space right like yeah so it definitely kept you in that immersive environment but um yeah and then i
think there was one room in the ship that was like supposed to be a simulated room like by their
standards but it was actual daylight and it was yeah that was the climate simulator yeah the climate
(43:01):
simulator and it was like the only room in the ship that you could go that was like a window and
fresh air you know for people who were like okay i've had enough break who needed a break but um but
of course i mean like i don't that was definitely there as like uh okay here's what we do in the event
that someone is getting a little indoor fatigued right right um and uh yeah and i think that was a
(43:23):
great idea they have like plants in there and stuff and whatever but um yeah i don't know i mean there's a lot
of things that i think worked about it i think there's just a few things that didn't and that's
what kind of collapsed the whole thing there's multiple storylines you could follow right like
you could oh yeah and i think yeah i think there was six major paths but there was tons of little
variations on them and you could switch between them yeah also if everyone in your room went first
(43:46):
order path you would actually unlock extra stuff where normally even other first order people wouldn't
have access to it they it was such a great system i wanted to go to it so bad i had actually
saved for like two and a half years to go oh man dang then you didn't didn't end up going because
it shut no because the day i went to get my passport was the day they announced the closure oh my gosh
(44:10):
i didn't know that yeah i had all of my paperwork in my truck i was going after work and that's when
on the radio they announced that disney was closing it oh wow that is a heartbreaking uh story i mean like
wow yeah no that's uh that's a shame i mean did you end up at least going to the parks going to the
parks to to do galaxy's edge or something no i bought that truck yeah that's practical yeah
(44:33):
that's very practical yeah but uh i figured it was it was more important to get to and from work
probably that's fair but man that hotel experience would have been sweet would have been would have
been pretty sweet yeah because that's probably my biggest regret is that now you can't do it so
kind of wish i'd been able to try it yeah because there's not a lot of there's not a lot of things
that like that that ever come up you know what i mean like and i think that's where they were what
(44:57):
they were thinking when they kind of made made it that price point as well because they're like
who else offers this nobody you know like like we can definitely do whatever we want like which is
like okay yeah that that makes sense it's almost like the first step of um westworld 100 that yes
that was actually part of their behind the scenes that's what people were talking about
(45:18):
this is the first thing westworld yeah but even working on the web series and stuff like we did
at no point did you forget you weren't on a set because our sets were pretty amazingly done they were
very big actually um we've been told that our sets are bigger than the official ones oh i'm not sure
that's true just for bucket heads you're talking about yeah sorry okay um it was cool but like
(45:43):
everybody that went on the halcyon said that being in that environment even though you know it's
not real you constantly forget that it's not real interesting it's just that full immersion i guess
yeah yeah there's just like brief moments where you're like oh yeah i don't really live in star wars
and as a lifelong star wars fan even though it's the time period i don't want to see you really can't
(46:07):
put a price on that for me right that's fair that is fair yeah yeah i mean uh and you know obviously
a lot of a lot of people like were were able to say the same and and uh enjoy it and everything so
i i mean i um i i am envious that they got to do it to be honest like yeah everyone who got to do it's
like wow like i'm a gift for you you know like that's that is definitely something that you can say
(46:31):
you've done that it'll be a story that no one else be able to replicate yeah you can tell people
you know to take it to your grave right yeah totally all right um i'm gonna switch gears here a
little bit uh we're just gonna run through stuff coming out this month in october because um you
know i feel like i feel like it's uh i feel like a broken record when i say like you know it's a bit
(46:53):
of a bit of a dry spell for star wars but um you know it's it is and it isn't you know what i mean
like we you know we we we always we always find a chance to to come together and have a have a good
chat and talk star wars and that's enough right we just got a new lego star wars series yeah yeah the
lego yeah rebuild the galaxy pieces of the past and and uh that's kind of the the next thing up
(47:15):
here on the roster um uh we watched the first two parts together and then you were able to finish it
and i'm still working my way through um but uh like what what can you share about how you liked it and
maybe some of the lego sets that are available based on this thing i'll pull up a list well because i
you and i watched the original series and then it hadn't really gone back to it until this came out
(47:36):
and i have forgotten the actual quality and effort they put into this this series it's high
man man yeah because you think oh it's just this lego show for kids or whatever yeah but they have
basically like all the original cast from uh the 3d clone war series and on top of that they have
some actual actors from the live action they got mark hamill yeah they got billy d yeah anthony
(47:58):
daniels that's true i mean other than harrison ford they got every they got everyone who's still
alive well did you notice harrison ford is mysteriously missing and uh leia instead is
in level gorito oh that's that's a good point that's very true i couldn't get harrison
that's awesome i never thought of that yeah i just put the pieces together just now that's probably why
(48:19):
put the pieces together no pun intended oh whoops well it's out there now
durian you seen this you seen these yet i've seen all of them except for the last episode
okay you're the same spot as josh then basically yeah yeah you're the same spot as me so i'm gonna
finish that after this but uh have you liked it so far i i am enjoying it it's not hitting the
same as the first season but maybe i just haven't got to the point where it really grabs me no that's
(48:44):
fair that's fair i think the part that sold me was the landalorian the landalorian oh man yeah that
that was a that was a good laugh that was the point okay right now i remember this is good and i do
love the um the design of his ship the mashup the mashup between the razor crest and the the
nubu n1 i hope they make that in lego oh my goodness yeah i'm sure they will i i'm enjoying
(49:08):
more of maul this season because it's so weird to see that character happy yeah and as a good guy
that's sam whitworth too i think yeah it is yeah yeah yeah you're right yeah it's it's yeah i don't
know what it is about how they've like reversed the roles of everybody almost everybody um it's it's
very uh it's almost like it's kind of it's kind of nice i feel like it was it was really funny
(49:31):
though when when ventress pops up and she's just like the same because she's like day sister yeah
she's kind of centered with her uh with her um i guess her alignment by the end of right that's a
good point the show and everything right so it's like you kind of just see it's just like okay yeah
she's the same but everyone else is like totally flipped around oh i think and i think yoda i think
there was uh maybe like one or two jedi that that were still still like good people which was i think
(49:56):
yoda would have been a kind of a weirdly creepy bad guy well this one we got dark obi-wan briefly
right yeah yeah dark obi-wan yeah they still they still went there with obi-wan um uh yeah it's it's uh
it's been cool i think and cameron monaghan you know she came back as cal kestis in this um was
he in the first one no he wasn't came back as in like from the games no he he was just he was he was in this
(50:20):
second season with um pieces of the past as as his character cal kestis uh also ashley ekstein
voice he was a um a good character still but he came from another galaxy yeah in the in the story
yeah like yeah he it was like this realm of like other galaxies of lego stuff that were kind of
mashed up because i think the idea is the galaxy gets remade every so often so the characters that
(50:44):
don't fit go into this like abandoned realm yeah it was they kind of pulled a loki i don't know if
you've seen loki you've seen loki darian so the first season and a half yeah okay so so you kind
of know what i'm talking about with like that that world that all the the time you're all the yeah all
the prunes go like everyone who gets prunes yeah everyone who gets pruned everyone and everything
that gets pruned by the time um the tva gets sent to this place um which is like basically the land the
(51:11):
land that time forgot type thing and um it's just a a world full of um full of uh what do you call it uh
discarded yeah but there's like a term for like you know oneself and another get in another universe
kind of blanking on the word that they use to describe those people but a variant so where all
the variants go so there's an ahsoka tono variant i guess in the in the lego universe uh her i do plan
(51:36):
to go back and watch and see all the easter eggs in the back of that because i'm sure there's some
that we missed oh there there totally is like when we were watching it i pointed out two lego sets
that i actually have one of them is that hoth gate down there right and then one that was very
unpopular yeah the one that was super unpopular because it was supposed to be ucs but then it wasn't
(51:56):
like up to ucs standard so they made a whole new type of lego set for it it was like before they went
as crazy as like that cloud city set but they were what they wanted to get into that territory of
like here's a ship and then here's like sort of a set piece to kind of play with um and then they also
had the first lego set ever made which uh well i guess it was like maybe technically like the second
(52:20):
or third or something but it was like that door that you get with qui-gon and the battle droids
yeah the like 10 dollar box back in 99 yeah you could get like i think you could get vader and like luke
in one some sort of random background yeah these little square boxes come come with his chair yeah
exactly yeah exactly yeah so they had the the door from phantom medicine there yeah i got that was cool
(52:42):
with uh obi-wan with the droidekas yeah i had that one too yeah that's so good i loved all that stuff
so yeah you're right the easter eggs are kind of insane though um but yeah the ahsoka variant is
voiced by ashley ekstein which is really cool um yeah what was that during even though i don't buy
the legos i enjoy this series so much i hope they make at least a couple more seasons the kid from
(53:05):
stranger things is doing such a great job being that like proto luke character right yeah um you know what's
uh his name gatton gatton uh matt matt terrazzo yeah who who does he play in stranger things again
forget his character he's the kid that didn't have teeth in the first season um yeah i always forget
(53:25):
his i like at some point i need to re-watch like the final season of stranger things comes out in
like a month or two i need to re-watch the whole show because it's been eons 2016 was when it first
came out like that was like like nine years ago man like that's crazy uh dustin dustin he plays dustin
that's that's his character's name um in the stranger things uh yeah so uh he plays the main
(53:48):
main guy sick right yeah cool series um and uh hopefully they do more sets this time around
they've only done the one which is the snow speeder that has the flames on it yeah so speaking of the
sets themselves because of course this is not only great for you know it's good star wars storytelling
but it's it's also um it leans into what it is and that's lego and so they have naturally made sets
(54:12):
based on the uh the thing that they made yeah you know so uh that's why we had a dark falcon like last
year it came out which came with a lot of really cool one-off characters yeah and it's worth getting
just for that for like an all-white darth vader darth jar jar yeah just like crazy designs they had
jedi bob's like starfighter which jedi bob is of course a character that you know you haven't been
(54:35):
able to get at all since like 2002 original republic gunship yeah yeah so that was i mean
an unnamed jedi yeah and that's why people call him bob i guess but um just the assigned name by
fans or something like that i think fans gave him that name and it's not the exact same thing like
there's a few details that are different i think um they intentionally made his uh print look worn
(54:59):
out right like he's old like an old minifigure and then there was also the tie fighter and x-wing
mashup yeah so you take it apart and rebuild them together to make weird combos yeah that's the idea
um so the fourth set in the series because that's that's that's all the all three that they did for
the last season and then for they've only made one from the second season called the force uh
(55:21):
burnings speeder the force burner snow speeder and it's that flame print snow speeder with extra
fins on it which is pretty cool yeah yeah really like really playing into that reverse of what it
originally is right like a white snowy looking speeder vehicle for snow weather and they turned
it into like a flaming it's like a hot rod hot rod looking thing yeah it's cool right i like that the
(55:45):
canopy is one piece i do too yeah it's a cool design just a nice way of building the ship because
it used to be like kind of multiple pieces i guess or it's still no i guess it was technically
two but then it would uh like flip up instead of the whole cockpit coming up the whole canopy it would
be just the front half basically and then you got uh dev and uh sig sig and then solaris it's
(56:07):
the villain of the villain which i i really liked and his chained together lightsabers yeah yeah
cool cool design was from an old battlefront game if you ever played it right it's an expansion
i think this is the first time that we've seen um a yellow lightsaber is what you're saying right
i believe so i haven't seen one before so i was wondering if that was the first time yeah i think
(56:30):
we've we've never really uh seen that come up almost anything because they never really did a
a uh yellow lightsaber for episode 9 ray like they never uh i mean it's as simple as taking one of
those pieces that's yellow and popping it into a hilt and then you it's like boom now you have one
but there's never been any that have been day one released out of a box you know with a figure that's
(56:51):
been that has a yellow one i don't think i could be wrong about that maybe there there's like a lego
advent calendar or something that has like a episode 9 ray with a yellow lightsaber i like i i don't know
um but uh but i think this is the first one that we're actually getting that has kind of that
dark yellow look to it and uh i thought it was kind of worth worth mentioning green kind of look
(57:12):
yellowy but yeah i don't see anything but it's hard to look up specifically yeah maybe maybe somebody
out there listening can kind of tell us in the comments post a comment
um yeah where can they post the comments josh they can post a comment on on apple podcast and
the youtube channel uh on the under the videos and uh also in spotify if you're listening on spotify
(57:37):
it's a great great way to post a comment on on the episodes i think that's one of the few platforms
that you can post a comment on and there's so many apps out there that people can post reviews and
comments on but the only ones that we really look at and see are the ones from apple podcast and
spotify so um just keep that in mind oh and youtube of course but um currently also random piece
(57:58):
of news uh the youtube channel has sort of been on a pause uh because uh normally the program that
we use to pump out these uh video conversions are currently not working at the moment so uh so sorry
for the delay on podcast releases on on youtube just a heads up uh yeah all right let's uh let's
(58:18):
transition over so they did a uh a ray from rise of skywalker special minifigure the yellow
technically that's the only star what's what's it released with rise of skywalker yeah but what's
that just a polybag or something not entirely sure i think so maybe it was uh the advent calendar there
you go that's what she looks like oh yeah no that's got to be like band made or something like
(58:39):
that or not i don't know gemini seems to think it was a set huh i couldn't find a drag link to it
anywhere though comes from lego set 75250 probably a christmas uh oh yeah it's the pasana speeder
chase it's like the one of the very very few sets she doesn't have a yellow saber then no she doesn't
(58:59):
yeah it's modified because the one from that set is this one she's got the hair but so they just they
just modified it they gave her a yellow saber and they gave her a white hood the blade in yellow you
can get in non star wars lego sets yeah yeah so yeah it's a very common piece people are just
modding it over so i think this might be the first time it's been official i think so that's what
(59:20):
that's what i thought too because yeah that's that's an unofficial thing but anyway all right
let's transition over here we got another another little bit to go through oh whoops that's the wrong
one
all right so uh this month we got a little bit of news to go through um as far as other new star wars
(59:49):
stuff you know you can get excited about a bunch of releases here so uh let's just run through it
um october 1st we have star wars issue number six with han and luke wearing clone trooper outfits on the
cover wow uh we also have uh there there you go digs oh what in the world yeah uh we also have uh
(01:00:09):
legacy of vader kylo ren volume one for anyone who uh saves their comic book reading for the trade
paperbacks uh volume one will compile uh most likely issues one through four and you'll be able
to read uh sorry it's issues one through six and you'll be able to read the charles soul legacy of vader
comic series on october 7th we will see the release of the hype hypely high uh highly awaited
(01:00:35):
highly anticipated mixed reality play set game is what it's called uh star wars beyond victory so
we've talked a little bit about this already this is the pod pod racing one yeah yeah so uh
they're not quite vr vr pod racing that's exactly exactly great way to put it but it's uh very hyped up
uh this is coming exclusively to quest 3 and quest 3s jelly all right uh same day october 7th
(01:01:04):
star wars the blueprints designs and artwork from the skywalker saga is getting released uh this is a
updated and expanded version of the existing book that they've already made and uh co-written by the

han solo losing the falcon and him coming to find it in the force awakens oh yeah they've never
(01:01:50):

on october 8th it was it literally 10 years later yeah
man talk about leaving some stories on the cutting room floor all right tell me about it

a good question yeah and maybe 20 years after that we'll get the story how she figure out how to fix

(01:02:38):
uh and that could be interesting october 14th sees the release of the higher republic fear of the jedi
trade paperback um as we already discussed a few weeks ago that the higher republic is over
i think this will kind of be the final one of the final staples in that conclusion is uh all five
issues of the phase three fear of the jedi comic book series is being uh published out in a trade
(01:03:04):
paperback we'll have the star wars insider issue number 234 come out on october 14th
and the same day revenge of the sith novelization the deluxe edition uh written by matthew silver this
is a book that's been around for a long time it's getting one of those super fancy deluxe reprints
uh by uh a a publisher that i always forget the name of random house audible october 15th sees the
(01:03:35):
release of issue number nine for the legacy of vader and october 21st sees the release of a new novel
called the last order uh this is going to be the first novel taking place post rise of skywalker
so there was the first order now there's a last order i guess so i guess so so uh yeah
(01:03:58):
there's a last order to pick that up talk about october 21st bring an end to the first order
that's your last order wasn't a final order in the last movie yep we got a first order a final order
and a last order i feel like a final order would come after the last order order up
(01:04:19):
all right same day october 21st star wars hyperspace stories library edition volume one comes out so this
collects a slew of dark horse comics hyperspace stories issues number one through 12 uh so lots
of cool short stories there and the rise of skywalker trade paperback marvel comics adaption

also comes out october 21st and uh if you're into croquet or cro what is it cro crochet probably
crochet crochet how does croquet a croquet and the and the balls through the right what are they
hoops no yeah well there's a there's a crochet pattern book coming out where's croquet

number two uh star wars visions volume three comes out october 29th so plan your halloween parties
accordingly and finally book of both i mean sorry boba fett black white and red issue number two
comic book series comes out on the 29th as well as dr afro chaos agent number five so uh there's a lot
(01:05:28):
of star wars stuff coming out this month and uh you know thank you to the hollow files for uh documenting
all that uh but uh it's it's even though it is a dry spell you know there's some there's some hope
out there if you're into one of the i just had an idea we should review this year's uh star wars
costumes that they're gonna put in the in the main lineup oh yeah there's always like a handful
(01:05:50):
they're kind of standardized each each year right right we're talking about the clone wars ones
earlier definitely yeah we should figure out what those are and then we'll we'll give them a rating
yeah yeah we did we totally should put on put it on the uh on the notes carson tava was just
released in canada i just got mine the other day the witch carson carson yeah yeah yeah kim's
(01:06:11):
convenience oh yeah yeah nice so that's who that's who you're going as the costume well i've
got the right size gut so that would uh definitely work for me and you do you have the helmet do you
have a great opportunity to buy the black series helmet that's true i have trapper wolves yeah oh yeah
that's a good yeah i wear that i actually have four of trapper wolf's helmets four yeah yeah you
(01:06:34):
got to trade one of those in for captain tiba no i've been repainting them three of them i'm keeping
one the way it was gotcha because i love that wolf yeah did you guys hear about the ea sale uh yeah
yeah we did a little bit um yeah you know it's i haven't really dwelled on it too much i uh you know
kind of i guess these things tend to happen but um yeah what are your what are your thoughts on it
(01:06:55):
it definitely affects battlefield or battlefront 3 coming out as in now it's not going to happen
probably not because it's 20 billion dollars of debt that they took on to buy ea games
oh wow i uh you know i i don't think battlefront 3 was ever gonna happen to be honest i mean i i do
i find that odd because it's the easiest star wars game to make it it is i i see i i on the other i i am
(01:07:21):
worried for the third jedi game that's what i'm worried for but uh i i don't know i don't i don't
think battlefront 3 was was i mean it was something i was very much hoping for and then we saw that
resurgence earlier this year yeah that would spark someone it's it's it hasn't really it's kind of
died out like i was looking at the the steam database and we're now averaging you know like
(01:07:44):
a thousand players online kind of at a time and which is like it's still really good but it's not
like it's not it's not 30 000 like what it was on the saturday like a couple months ago so like it's
very quickly kind of died off and i think maybe they knew that as well but you know it was a it was a
good movement while it lasted and i think there's a lot of people who got the game and got exposure
(01:08:05):
to the game who previously wouldn't have played it which was which was great because you know it
made the servers active for people going in multiplayer and stuff like that but that being
said anyone who did buy the game during this time that's like okay well it's getting slow again don't
really know if i want to keep going play the campaign it's awesome it was a great story i didn't
versio great character you know enjoyable not that i just i just want to see one imperial story where
(01:08:27):
they don't end up being the rebels in the end they just stay in the imperials the whole time
yeah that's fair that's fair i don't know if disney is comfortable telling a story like that
or lucasville for that matter i i you know i think i am i agree like like because that was kylo ren's
original trajectory in the colin trevorrow script right and we we read through that and he was like
(01:08:49):
committed like he was just going deeper and deeper and deeper you know and like and yeah i guess they
wanted a lighter redemption story that would take place instead and what they did was beautiful but
at the same time it's like i i kind of would have been keen to see that story you know like
because that's something new like it's something that they wouldn't have done yet that's what happens
with one of the original twins right in the old eu on and leia's kids kate that's way later oh you
(01:09:14):
mean uh jason and jason yeah jason solo yeah i think he does i remember right uh he does yeah i think
his sister has to kill him yeah because they were pretty close to telling that story like it wasn't
that far off right yeah they were kind of going that direction especially with the whole dyad thing
you know which they didn't really assign a name to it in episode eight but you're you know they're
(01:09:35):
kind of going there with like this sort of synergy that happened you know between the two of them and
yeah i don't know yeah but uh but yeah i think as far as the to get back to your uh topic darian like
with the ea sale i mean like uh do you have any hopes of like i mean this is like a multi-billion
dollar business transaction that that i think they probably look fondly on like no one forced
(01:09:55):
them to buy this company like do you have any hopes for star wars out of this transaction that
maybe you know despite the potential bad outcomes like do you think there's anything good that could
come out of this and what are you hoping to see out of this deal i don't actually think that it's
changed your chances of getting battlefront 3 it's it's definitely guaranteed it's going to be
a later thing i think they're going to stick to the stuff where they can get more
(01:10:17):
micro transactions because reportedly that's where like 80 percent of ea's profit actually
comes from is the after you already bought the game sales wow is that with a lot of the sports
games then yeah and those also are sold more wide variety of customers rather than apparently
niche star wars plus they had no not to pay royalties to almost anyone except for the likenesses
(01:10:40):
i i saw that um battlefield is it battlefield 6 now i think is doing incredibly well like as far as
no just not um i don't even think it's out yet but they've had like some uh they've had some promos
you know some advertisements they've had a open free beta that people have been playing i've seen
like youtube shorts on it and um it looks fun like people are really digging it like the people are
(01:11:05):
saying like this is better than call of duty you know like you know many many things these are the
things that you are back when uh back when battlefield 3 came out this is these are the
things i heard at the time as well and yeah i mean at this point it might be a low bar but i mean
you know call of duty makes money like it's like there's a huge fan it gets it gets a big rip but
at the same time like mostly there's halo fans there's a lot of dedicated players like yeah that's
(01:11:30):
the thing that you just can't ignore you know like no i just like dumping on call of duty i've never
really been a big call of duty fan it's it's the rivalry between star wars and star trek just in
first person shooters i've always been a battlefield and battlefront guy right whenever battlefront or
battlefield goes the call of duty route it always drives me nuts i think it was battlefield 4 had like
(01:11:53):
a tap a now section to the main game and it was brutal it was so terrible it's like no no i don't want
to play call of duty if i wanted to play call of duty i'd get a call of duty game yeah you know
there's always the worst part of force unleashed too see i i i have the same okay when it comes to
your your thoughts on call of duty right like i kind of feel this way about jared leto okay like
(01:12:16):
because tron aries is right around the corner and like i feel like jared leto is one of those people
he just has this reputation you know like people people are always just like wow why'd they cast
jared leto like you know you know friggin jared leto like what the heck you know i don't want to
see the mood because jared leto this and that right the man has won 44 awards he's been nominated
(01:12:37):
for 101 and one of those 44 is an academy award like this is academy award winning actor we're talking
about here like why do people hate him and he's a rock star some people like heck actors actresses just
rub people the wrong way he sounds like gripe against them yeah you know it's like nickelback people
just hate nickelback right right yeah like why people that hate nickelback don't listen to
(01:12:57):
nickelback they just hate nickel they just love they just want in it's just i find it hilarious
man jared leto is the the actor equivalent of nickelback is what you're saying you're like
what is it like to be jared leto waking up in the morning thinking like why me just look at like
your twitter and just see all these memes yeah yeah like i mean memes with your face on them you know
(01:13:22):
he was recently in this show i watched called we crashed and uh and uh anna hathaway is starring
beside jared leto in this show and uh it was a fantastic show like it was a great you know docu
series biopic or whatever and um and uh i i just you know i couldn't help but think like i really want
to know why people don't like this guy you know what i mean like okay yeah i like personal life aside
(01:13:46):
because you know everyone's got one of those but like professionally he's good at what he does you know
and like call of duty is like one of those games like it makes money and there's like you know
millions of people who play it um but i love the fact that it still gets so much hate uh for
so it's just to be honest it's kind of amusing about i get him and zach efron mixed up sorry you
mix up zach efron and jared little yeah oh dude that's sacrilege how how man i don't know i think
(01:14:11):
i've never seen them side by side okay we're talking about 30 seconds to mars and high school musical
different albums
oh yeah but anyway okay moving on we gotta move on here uh okay we got one last thing before we wrap
it up tonight um and uh i just wanted to play this um this uh this well for all the rest of you it'll
(01:14:34):
be a piece of audio for us it'll be a video so enjoy
so
We'll be right back.
(01:15:17):
We'll be right back.
(01:15:47):
We'll be right back.
(01:16:17):
We'll be right back.
(01:16:47):
We'll be right back.
(01:17:17):
All right, there we go.
So that was the trailer for Star Wars Eclipse.
It's an incredible cinematic trailer, which came out three years ago.
Yeah, I was super excited for it.
This looked like a really cool game.
It looks like a mashup between Star Wars and Dune.
Yeah, it's got like the black goo at the end of somebody coming out of the pool.
(01:17:40):
That's right.
But I think we were what sort of sparked my memory to bring this up was, you know, we were playing Bryce's new game.
He bought a bunch of starter packs for Star Wars Unlimited.
And we were having some drinks and playing some cards.
But he brought it up and said like, man, it would have been so cool to like, what was that game that came out that like saw the rise of the Trade Federation and in like the High Republic?
(01:18:08):
And I was like, yeah, Star Wars Eclipse.
And is that when the era is supposed to be?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Because I was looking at it and it looks like, yeah, there's Trade Federation stuff.
And then there's some stuff that just doesn't seem to make sense in the timeline at all.
Yeah.
And Yoda's there.
And, you know, yeah, it's cool.
It's High Republic.
But OK, it's yeah, it just is so interesting.
(01:18:30):
And man, the trailer is intense.
Like the music is fantastic.
And they did like this thing is like rendered to a cinematic tee, you know, like it's perfect.
Like it looks amazing.
Not quite live action.
Right.
But like close, you know, like this could like pass for like a like a movie or something like that.
I think if you showed somebody who isn't familiar with maybe what a cinematic game trailer looks like.
(01:18:54):
And man, I just thought like, yeah, I know it's it's allegedly still happening.
Is it?
As I'm wondering, how would that be canon now?
Because they did the High Republic.
Well, I mean, the High Republic and everything.
Yeah, High Republic's all canon.
I mean, as long as it like fits into their plans, like, you know, it's yeah.
Because now if it's if it is to be canon, which I don't know if it necessarily will be, but now it feels kind of awkward.
(01:19:16):
All this now is going to happen within this small window right before Phantom Menace.
Yeah.
Well, I guess phase one and three, you know, to have this very certain time, this very specific time frame of how long it takes place over and how long before Phantom Menace it does.
And then, of course, there's a big gap of time.
And then there's the Acolyte and then there is another hundred years and then you have Phantom Menace.
(01:19:38):
So I think there is still a lot of time in there to tell some good stories.
But it's going to be weird to slot in anywhere that then isn't referenced to anything around it.
You know what I mean?
Yeah.
Yeah.
And well, I mean, it's weird to slot it in without considering the yeah, like the era it's based in.
And like the hype is kind of over now, like the High Republic train has sort of ended.
(01:20:00):
Yeah.
And like we're going to get other stuff in the future that do probably take place in this time period now that they've like developed it out.
Yeah.
Flecked it out a bit.
But yeah.
But it's like because Jedi Survivor came out, you know, peak High Republic times, you know, like phase two era that they were building the backstory to all the High Republic stuff.
And there was like a plot line in Jedi Survivor that that, you know, you play through and you become familiar with more High Republic lore.
(01:20:26):
And it was really cool.
And and then, of course, the VR experience also saw like the Tales of the Galaxy's Edge had a short story that took place in this time period.
So that was cool.
Yeah.
And Eclipse is no different.
Like Eclipse is is a game that they announced during this whole phase one because it was like three years ago, like phase one, High Republic wave of all this content that we were, you know, we were trying to keep up with at the time.
(01:20:50):
And and now it's like, you know, what happened to that game?
Yeah.
But yeah, it's a common problem.
Star Wars games, it feels like.
Yeah.
And it's supposed to come out still, but it's like I guess it's taking a long time to come out with it.
But but yeah, I don't know.
It's just something to throw out there three years ago.
Have you got have you read any news that sparked it?
Nope.
(01:21:10):
It's just no, this was just because just because Bryce was was talking about he's like, man, I really wish that we saw that game.
And I said, well, there's still a small chance that we could.
I don't I don't read I didn't read anything about its cancellation on like some games where it's like big news, you know, like that.
Was it like a Naughty Dog game or something like the woman from Naughty Dog?
I think I mean, 1313 was probably the biggest news still like we remember it very, very well.
(01:21:35):
You know, when that news broke about 1313 being a long time ago, that's from the Disney purchase.
Yeah.
But that was like that was another situation where you had this big trailer and a big reveal.
And I think even one step further, like they actually reveal gameplay at one of the games cons.
And and then, of course, it just disappeared.
Right.
Like disappeared.
It has.
And so like Eclipse is kind of the same, except they didn't show any gameplay, but they had the whole trailer and it was like, you know, super awesome.
(01:22:01):
And then gone, poof, like disappeared.
So, I don't know, Darian, you're going to any Star Wars Eclipse.
Do you remember it?
You remember the trailer?
Yeah, that's the one with all the weird drumming in the.
Yeah, that's right.
Yeah.
It seemed interesting.
I was excited to go back to like a KOTOR style game.
And it seems like another one of the project ragtag disappearing games.
(01:22:24):
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's hard to gauge what the game actually would be like, though, from the trailer.
Like it look cool.
But right.
Is it an RTS?
Is it an RPG?
Quantic Dream.
That's the studio that came up with the game.
You can look into the stuff that they've done before.
And I think they have had like one or two very successful cinematic titles that they've done.
(01:22:47):
I think it was Detroit or something like that that they did.
And I think when that released, like it was, it was a big deal.
What do you mean by cinematic?
Like the whole game is a movie?
I mean, like the game is very much like, yeah, kind of, kind of movie material.
You're making a lot of decisions for the character.
It's a lot of cut scene.
(01:23:08):
Dialogue.
Playable cut scene material type thing.
It's not exactly.
Like Mass Effect?
Or like Telltale game?
Yeah, maybe more like a Telltale game, but possibly a bit more interactive.
That would be fun, but I'd be kind of disappointed if we only got one game every like three or four years and it was a Telltale game.
(01:23:30):
That's true.
Yeah.
Yeah.
But I mean, yeah, it's, it's, I guess it's just a, it's a risky business, you know, making a game that you don't necessarily know is going to be a success.
But there is a article from 2021 back in September and it reports on Quantic Dream working on a Star Wars game.
These are based on claims at the time.
(01:23:52):
September of what year?
2021.
Okay.
And it says Lucasfilm recently confirmed it would be listening to pitches for the IP.
Quantic Dream's next game will be based on the Star Wars IP.
It has been claimed.
Um, so that's according years ago, that's according to a French YouTuber, uh, Quantic Dream, if you don't know, is based in France.
And, uh, you know, that was, yeah, 2021.
(01:24:12):
And then three years ago is when we saw the release of the cinematic trailer.
Right.
So it was a year in.
Let's, we should just get somebody to reskin Baldergate three into a Star Wars game.
It would still be a good game.
I'm sure it would be great.
Um, but yeah, but, um, we do have, um, zero company to look forward to.
(01:24:32):
That's a game that kind of came out of left field.
Um, I think it was this past year that they announced it and they announced that it was coming out next year in 2026.
At the arena game.
That's the, it's a bit like XCOM.
It's basically, it's basically the Star Wars XCOM game.
That's what it is.
Yep.
Everybody cross your fingers.
So it actually happens.
Yep.
Yep.
(01:24:52):
Don't jinx it.
I feel like Star Wars games is like a category in its own for cancellations.
Yeah.
It's just kind of number one fickle game.
Yeah.
Yeah, exactly.
Um, we actually did a, I bring this up frequently, but we did an episode called, um, uh, rip Star Wars, which, uh, which was one of my more favorite series to do.
(01:25:12):
Cause we went through every single cancellation at the time.
I just thought of an idea.
We should now, uh, whenever a new game comes out, we should mention how many, um, Call of Duty games have came out in between the last Star Wars game and the one that came out.
Definitely.
Definitely should.
Nine.
Nine Call of Duty games.
(01:25:34):
Nine Call of Duty games.
Oh, man.
Well, in the spirit of, uh, in the spirit of Star Wars Visions, we're going to go out with a bang and continue to play Tatooine Rhapsody here.
But, uh, I want to kick things off by saying thank you so much to Darian for popping in the call and, uh, joining us this week.
And, uh, thank you again to, uh, our co-host Blake for, uh, always being here.
(01:25:57):
It's always a pleasure, sir.
Thanks for having me.
Thanks for, thanks for both of you to coming on.
And this is the way.
This is the way.
We'll see you out there.
Keep flying.
All right.
And, uh, a big thank you to all of you out there.
(01:26:17):
Uh, you know, we do appreciate your, uh, comments and your reviews, your five stars.
They always help.
Um, and, uh, you know, naturally, uh, we're powering our way to episode number 400.
So we really want to hit episode 400 with a, with a bang and have, uh, have a whole new flood of, uh, people join and, uh, enjoy Star Wars Escape Pod.
(01:26:39):
So until next time, may the force be with you.
