Speaker 1 (00:02):
hey, it is that time.
Coming up this week are thejedi horrible guardians.
Why?
Hondo anaka is the best exampleof the character you love to
hate.
Our top five favorite star warsships and lots and lots of
younglings.
Good thing anakin isn't aroundfor this.
Huh, too soon.
No, I don't know.
(00:23):
All right, all that and more.
Coming up this week it's theClone Wars, season 5, episodes 9
, 10, 11, and 12.
No, that's not right.
I know that's not right.
It's.
Uh, what is it Crash?
I forgot.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
It is, it's uh.
Speaker 1 (00:43):
It's.
Oh 6 through 9, it is, it's uh,it's oh.
Six through nine, six throughnine.
I have 29, 7, 8 and 9.
That's what's on my notes.
We're already off to a greatstart, so we're doing it goes
well six, seven, eight and nine.
All right, all that and more.
Right here on your star wars, safe space stick.
Let's see if this works.
There we go.
(01:16):
We can get rid of that now.
Hey, welcome to the showeveryone.
Oh, we're already off to agreat start.
Huh, crash.
It wouldn't be us if it was.
Yeah, no other way.
It wouldn't be us if thereweren't uh, our good friend,
technical difficulties hangingout with us.
Speaker 2 (01:30):
All right so hey,
there's our warriors.
What how we doing same asalways.
That bad, huh that bad, huh.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
Yeah, god, we that we
need to add that to the intro.
We really should.
We really do that is.
That is a great quote fromhansel.
Anyway, hi there star warriors, welcome to star wars.
Safe space or non-toxic, lowsodium star wars show.
That doesn't make you feel badfor not knowing that jedi master
plow clune discovered littlebaby ahsoka and brought her into
(01:58):
the jedi order, and we saw thatthis week.
We saw plowing little tiny, cute little baby ahsoka adorbs,
totes adorbs.
So whether you're a hardcorefan or just a little swarzy
curious, this is your star warssafe space.
We are the circle of nerds andwe do indeed love star wars,
even if we don't always like it.
This week, though, we like, Ithink we liked everything.
So, uh, let's meet the crew, shall we so?
(02:21):
Pilot of the infamous parmaflyer.
Can I do the right button here?
Nope, I sure can't, it's crash.
This is why we're a podcast andwhy we have no business doing
video hi, everybody s foil'slocked, ready to go.
Speaker 2 (02:36):
We got a lot to talk
about, so let's get into it
there you go.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
It's just us, it's
just us, everybody's.
Everybody else is this weekGood thing.
Nobody gets paid, or wewouldn't, I guess.
I don't know what's going on.
I don't know.
I have no idea.
I'm like, there we go.
Well, we do have some news.
Speaker 2 (02:57):
We can kind of start
off with that.
I'm sure you've heard.
Clive Revell, the originalEmperor Palpatine voice actor,
sadly passed away at 94 yearsold.
Yes, most of you people outthere may not even know of him
because he was from the originaltheatrical cut and then by the
time George did the specialeditions, ian re-recorded his
(03:19):
lines and facial.
They've tweaked that scene somany times that unless you have
the original unspecializedversion, Like VHS yeah.
It's hard to tell, but thedie-hard original Trilogy fans
know him as the first voice ofPalpatine and also, I believe,
the voice of Alfred from Batman, the Animated Series.
(03:41):
So Batman and Alfred are backtogether.
Okay, that's sad but that'scool.
Yeah, we're getting that pointwhere that generation of actors
you're going to be hearingprobably a lot of original
trilogy people that we know ofare reaching that age and it's
sad, but you know, like lukesays, you know, nobody's really
gone at this point in our lives.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
I heard this
somewhere.
I can't remember what movie itwas, but, uh, they said that at
this point in our lives.
I heard this somewhere I can'tremember what movie it was, but
they said that at this stage ofour lives.
You know, the world is takingmore than it's giving these days
, so and that's true, that istrue especially with our fandom,
but, um, very true.
So what are we doing here?
What's the purpose of this show?
Well, our mission is to watchall of the canon star wars films
(04:23):
and tv shows in chronologicalorder, breaking them down,
connecting the dots and learningmore about star wars and maybe
even a little bit aboutourselves.
So we've already jumped intonews a little bit.
Um, probably what the thebiggest bit of news right now?
And or season two?
Speaker 2 (04:40):
oh, that looks so
good.
They keep putting out newteasers and trailers.
I keep getting pumped becauseit looks so good and we're
getting to that point.
I like when various Star Warsproperties intersect each other.
Like you know, rebels sort ofleaded into Rogue One, leading
into the original trailer.
I like this time here, becausethe timelines are starting to
(05:02):
cross a little bit.
It's great.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
Yes, yes it's, oh yes
, yes it's.
Oh, wait a minute, hold on,hold on a second.
It's T to the Oni.
Hey, everybody Coming in, live.
What's happening?
Speaker 3 (05:20):
Not too much.
Not too much, I apologize.
My fireball kept breaking downand I was late getting here.
Yeah, you said you weren't evengoing to be on tonight.
Not too much.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
Not too much, I
apologize, my fireball kept
breaking down and I was lategetting here.
That's okay.
Yeah, you said you weren't evengoing to be on tonight.
Speaker 3 (05:29):
Well, I got lucky and
ended up getting somebody to
help cover.
So it's quiet.
I was like, all right, cool,I'm going to drop in the back
for a bit.
Speaker 1 (05:39):
All right, that's
what I'm talking about.
Welcome T to the Oni hailingfrom parts unknown keeper of the
holocron.
All right, so, tony, I don'tknow if you heard what was going
on.
We're going to do, you know, our normal recap about the
episodes, but we're also goingto be talking about the jedi
being horrible parental units.
We've talked about that before, but this was reiterated this
(06:01):
week.
Why?
Hondo is the perfect example ofa character that we love to
hate.
And then our top five favoriteships sounds good all right,
cool.
So just to get us started off, this was you know, we've, we've
said the last last couple ofweeks.
You know, star wars, road wars, isn't really for kids, I mean
(06:22):
it's.
It gets pretty dark sometimes.
Except for this week, this wasjust nothing but kids.
It was all for the kids.
Glad Anakin didn't show upbecause that could have been
awkward for everyone.
But what's this?
Hey, we've got someone.
Tmde Sports.
What's cracking?
(06:42):
I think that's the Mr DeaconExperience Sports Podcast.
Mr Deacon, of course, if you'velistened to some of our other
podcasts, he is the mostwell-dressed nerd in the galaxy,
bar none, bar none.
He's one of the good ones.
Welcome to the chat, mr Deacon.
(07:04):
Maybe he'll have some insight.
So the thing about mr deacon ifyou haven't listened to any of
his stuff, go check him.
If you're a sports person, gocheck out his stuff.
Really good, mr deacon is one ofthose that does not hold back
his opinion at all.
His, his, his number onecatchphrase is it's trash.
Like, that's it.
It doesn't matter.
It doesn't matter if I saysomething and he likes it.
(07:26):
No, no, tommy, that's trash.
It doesn't matter.
Every single time, it doesn'tmatter like hey, man, the sky is
blue, the sky is trash.
Unless it's something that helikes, then it's amazing, but
that's why we love mr deacon.
So anyway, so recapping theepisodes this week, talking
about all these jedi kids.
Obviously it was a growthepisode.
(07:47):
Each kid had their own littleidiosyncrasy that they had to
overcome in some way.
Very formulaic, we kind of sawit coming, but we did get to
revisit Ilum, which was kind offun.
The last time we saw Ilum wasin the micro series and we got
to see a snow bunny Padme inthat, if I remember correctly.
Speaker 2 (08:10):
Yeah, that was where
that that costume debuted.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
Yeah, yeah, it sure
did.
Speaker 2 (08:15):
It sure did, it was,
it was good stuff.
Speaker 1 (08:17):
So so this arc here.
What are your thoughts on this?
So that we'll we'll dive alittle bit deeper, but I'd like
to go around the room getthoughts on this.
We don't need to do a fullrecap, necessarily, but let's
get your thoughts crash.
You said you had some notes.
Oh yeah, um, he was like I gotnotes today.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
I got notes today.
Um, I love this arc and I loveeach episode for different
reasons.
I'll start off with theGathering.
As someone who did, I've alwaysgrown up a fan of Jedi.
I cosplayed as a Jedi.
For me, this was like a greatagain.
The show's gettingprogressively more mature in its
(08:55):
tone, but this was a greatreiteration of a morality lesson
for kids and the building ofyour lightsaber.
Anybody who's ever played ajedi as a kid or whatever, you
know that moment where you getyour lightsaber is it's.
It's like a really spiritualthing.
It's deeply personal and eachkid the thing I like most was
(09:18):
each kid had an idiosyncrasythat they had to overcome in in
the in the.
Speaker 1 (09:25):
It's a trial, it's
for them mr deacon posted in the
chat skeleton crew is trash too.
Oh man, we, we need to talk.
We need to talk becauseskeleton crew's by far at this
point probably one of thegreatest star wars tv shows in
existence.
But we'll get to that.
(09:45):
Man, mr deacon, you should justcome on the show.
We could talk about that allday.
I'm sorry.
Please continue oh yeah.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
So like real quick,
I'll explain something um, and
we've I've got some slides.
I can even show disney atgalaxy's edge does a great thing
called Savvy's Workshop whereyou can build.
Speaker 1 (10:06):
They make that
experience for you, that whole
lightsaber building experience,right.
Speaker 2 (10:11):
I've done it.
I'm a grown man and I will tellyou this thing right here is my
favorite Star Wars collectible, and I'll tell you why.
Okay, when we went there, thiswas 2021.
I went down with my family Longstory short.
That morning my dad had amedical emergency.
You know, you're at Disney andI walk out of the elevator and
(10:33):
there's my dad on a gurney beingtaken to the hospital.
So we like I, was ready to dropeverything and he knew we had
the appointment to go to Savvy'sand build lightsabers.
He said no, he ordered us to go, my sister and I.
He said you guys, I'll be fine, you guys go and do your thing.
And I don't know if you cancall up the one, the picture
(10:55):
yeah, which one, which one?
The first one, savvy one, they're in order, so just yeah.
So you get there and the castmembers are great.
They do this big interactivething.
You pick out the type oflightsaber you want to build and
they come up at you with acontainer with various crystals,
kyber crystals.
(11:17):
They're just little pieces ofplastic, okay.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
And that's the
crystal.
Speaker 2 (11:22):
Yeah, that's my
crystal.
I've got it here.
I'll show you in a second, ifyou go to the next slide.
You're building your lightsaber, you pick out your parts and I
mean they're talking to youabout how the kyber crystal
connects to the blade, the force.
It's all one big thing and inthe meantime I am freaking out.
I am like these kids in thisepisode.
(11:43):
I had to overcome the fear thatI might lose my dad today and
I'm sitting there and I'mbuilding this lightsaber and I'm
thinking of him.
And he came out fine.
We got him home and we got himtaken care of.
(12:04):
But this was a very big day inmy life because I remember the
day I overcame my fear, built mylightsaber.
That is this.
That's why this thing is myfavorite star wars.
This is better than my, mycostumes and all that stuff,
because for me, this was the dayI feel.
I felt like a jedi.
Speaker 1 (12:20):
I overcame my fear
that day so and that's it, and
and and.
Uh, mr Deacon said he boughthis Obi-Wan Kenobi lightsaber
there.
So so, savvy's workshop, itsounds like it is a very
personal, unique experience,obviously, you know.
You know you're only going toget out of it what you put into
it.
So if you go in there, like, ah, we're going to build a
lightsaber, whatever, but if youkind of go into it, maybe
(12:42):
role-play a little bit, kind ofenjoy it, you know.
It's an experience I've neverbeen.
Speaker 2 (12:48):
Yeah, I know you
haven't been down there and I
really want you know.
I hope you go someday and youknow, force-willing, I'll be
there with you because it issuch an experience.
These things aren't cheap.
These lightsabers are on theprice that's like a couple
hundred dollars.
These aren't just off your toystore shelf.
Speaker 1 (13:05):
I'm sorry.
You said how much I think it'slike $200.
Speaker 3 (13:10):
That's a hard pass.
Speaker 1 (13:11):
I'll go to Home Depot
.
Speaker 2 (13:12):
I'll go to the
plumbing department and I got
you, I got you.
It's more the experience.
You go in there and it's likedinner theater the characters,
you hear voices, it's likedinner theater.
You know the characters, youknow you're here, they have.
You hear record voices fromJedi, like Yoda and, and you
know they get real into like themystical side of the force.
(13:34):
I mean.
And Disney's great aboutimmersion and, like you said, if
you accept the immersion andyou play along with it as a fan,
I've never had a more movingexperience than I did that day
at Savvy's.
Speaker 1 (13:47):
Okay, yeah, Mr Deacon
said he paid $150 for his.
I think that's reasonable for arecord.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
Yeah, I mean you
could go.
You know some of the customones you get online.
I mean, even that Theory guyhas his own brand of lightsabers
.
Those things are damn expensive.
Yeah $200 for a saber and theexperience that you take home
with you.
It was so worth it If you'regoing to do it with your kids
(14:17):
have money.
Disney ain't cheap.
But the thing is, if you'regoing to let your kid build a
$200 lightsaber, make surethey're mature enough and that
they can appreciate theexperience.
It's not just going in becausethey have a cheaper version.
You could do at Star Tours withplastic parts and whatnot.
Speaker 3 (14:35):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (14:35):
That's the kid
version.
Speaker 2 (14:36):
That's the kid
version and I would recommend
that more for younger kids, kids.
But if your kids at the agewhere they really appreciate the
story and especially an episodelike this one from Clone Wars
where they see themselves in aGunji or continuity or somebody
like that, it's almost worth itif you do it together because
they will let you bring a parentthat goes with the kid.
(14:59):
You can have somebody therewith you.
Speaker 1 (15:01):
Crash, let me ask you
a question.
You said that if the child is,you know you know old enough, or
at what age do you feel that achild is old enough to pay two
to three hundred dollars to havethem build a lightsaber?
I'm gonna say 30, so what's,what is your age range there?
Um, the savvy ones, like I said, yeah, if, if that's a good
(15:27):
question, yeah and how much doyou have to really really like
your child to spend like that's,that's a car payment?
Speaker 2 (15:35):
uh, yeah, I, I, I
want at least a couple months of
like cutting the grass withouthaving to be told.
Speaker 1 (15:40):
You know that kind of
couple months and no, that's it
.
That's the rest of your life, until, like, you're cutting my
grass, until I can't cut mygrass that's a, that's a major.
Speaker 2 (15:50):
Yeah, like I said, we
all know disney trips aren't
aren't cheap, but I mean, ifyou're gonna go for the
experience, and and that's,that's just it.
Speaker 1 (15:58):
Like I like, I've
researched all that I like and
for our, for all of our listener.
You can't see what we'reputting up on the screen, but
it's, it's crash holding his,his lightsaber that he made, and
then you've got the falcon inthe background ever since
galaxy's opened.
Um, I have been researching it,I've been looking at every
photo it's, and I I told sherry,I told her I was like look we
(16:21):
go, we're gonna have to go forlike three days.
One day, day one, you justleave me alone.
Like, just like you take thekids, or if you're gonna meet
your girlfriend there, orwhatever you go, do whatever you
want to do.
Because On day one I'm walkingaround looking at every single
minute detail and paint chip andeverything.
(16:43):
Because I mean, looking at theFalcon, now it looks so detailed
, like it is like that's as realas it gets.
I mean it looks like the thingis going to fly away.
Speaker 2 (16:55):
We had to.
You know, covid was a realthing.
We had to put up our trip for awhile because of the lockdown,
the parks closed and, like Isaid, 2020, you see me, I'm
still wearing a mask because Iwas very cautious of that,
because I live with my parents.
They're a little older.
I want to make sure I didn'tbring anything home, of course,
but I tell you, man, the firsttime I rounded the and we
(17:17):
reconned this place, we watchedevery video, every blog.
You know, we knew this placebefore.
We got there inside and out,and it was like you round that
first corner and you start tosee the bits of the Falcon
coming around the horizon andthe feels right here Just get
you.
Speaker 1 (17:34):
I'm crying, I don't
care, I don't care.
You know what.
And I already know Mr Deacon'swatching right now.
I already know what he's goingto say I don't care, I don't
care.
I am secure in my manhood.
When I see the MillenniumFalcon it's not even my favorite
ship when I see the MillenniumFalcon in real life, I'm going
to cry.
I'm going to fucking cry.
There is no doubt about it.
I'm going to cry like a baby.
(17:57):
I'm gonna cry like a babyseeing this beautiful work of
art right there and then walkingaround.
I have a bounding outfit.
I've got like like I'm onsubreddits talking about like
different clothing to wear.
I specifically had an outfit, custom tailor-made for this, and
I still haven't been yet andit's probably not gonna happen
(18:18):
anytime soon and I really wishthe Star Cruiser Hotel they call
it a Star Wars hotel.
Speaker 2 (18:23):
It was an experience
I saw that.
It was great because they letyou in through the back door.
It was connected Two galaxiesin.
You go in through a specialentrance.
In casual cosplay People canwear most whatever they want.
Speaker 1 (18:40):
What Mr Deacon said.
He cried too what?
Speaker 2 (18:44):
Yeah, totally my
first day with Snips Deacon,
you're a sissy, you're such asissy, I was making that up.
Speaker 1 (18:50):
I'm not going to cry
over a fake spaceship from a
movie.
Speaker 3 (18:54):
Hey, you're going to
get canceled using that word.
Come on now.
Speaker 1 (18:58):
No, I'll cry.
I'm just messing around.
I'll cry in my life.
I already know.
Speaker 2 (19:03):
We can talk about the
Star Cruiser at another time in
depth.
But you were encouraged todress up and play along and you
went into the park, that part ofthe park, in semi-costume in
character.
My pictures I've been posting afew of them on the swarzy
curious page for crash thiscorner.
That's me in my casual cosplayjedi boots vest.
(19:24):
I was like a little casualbespin luke look walking around
batuu and it was like it wasjust such fun to play, just
walking around like a spacetourist.
Speaker 1 (19:36):
I wouldn't even dream
of going over to toy story or
any other part of the parkdressed like this right but sure
but sure there, like I haveabsolutely zero interest in
anything else at disney, likenone, like no interest, I don't
care, I don't, I literally Idon't care.
Drop me off at galaxy's edge, leave me, just leave me there
I'll.
I'll find my way home, I'llfigure out food and beverages.
Speaker 2 (19:59):
I'm good, I'm good oh
, there's nothing like the smell
of a ronto wrap in the morning.
Speaker 1 (20:04):
Oh man, all right now
you're killing me, all right.
So, anyway, back to the show.
Yeah, back to the show.
So the kids they're doing thestuff they're growing, they're
learning about the things, they're making their lightsabers
.
And that's gonna bring us tohondo.
Let's talk about hondo now, shall we okay?
Okay.
So I love hondo, I love hondo.
Hondo is my favorite scoundrel,he's my favorite pirate.
(20:27):
He's um, mr deacon says itbrings back so many memories of
my childhood.
Yeah, yeah, I mean, you know,we grew up.
We grew up watching this stuffand then to see it live right
there, yeah, crash, like yousaid, the fields.
I mean you're going to get allthe fields.
Um, so Hondo, initially, atwhat?
(20:48):
At later on in the in this arc,he said that you know he, he
doesn't like to take kids intobattle.
Yet he straight up instructedhis pirates to kill anyone that
gets in the way.
So Hondo was going to saucethese kids or have them sauce.
He might not have done it byhis own hand, but, like he said,
(21:10):
I smell profit.
If anything gets in the way ofthat profit, he's taking it out.
Would he and I want to knowfrom you guys, would he have
actually had those kids takenout?
What do you think?
Speaker 3 (21:25):
I don't think he
would have you watch that and at
first you think, yeah, that isreally messed up.
But they made a point to tryand gas everybody out.
I think honestly, I think thathe suspected that Ahsoka was
going to be the one there withthe kids and knows that their
(21:50):
relationship that he's got withAnakin, with Obi-Wan, would play
into it and he'd just be likelisten, just give me the things.
It doesn't have to be a bigdeal and I'm not going to hurt
anybody.
Just give me what things.
It doesn't have to be a bigdeal and you know I'm not gonna
hurt anybody.
Speaker 1 (22:01):
Just give me what I
want and I'll go right, mr
deacon here says that hondoopens up the ride at disney.
I've seen that he's like ananimatronic, right?
Yeah, is it?
Yeah, yeah.
So yeah, tony, I, I, I want toagree with you.
I really do.
It's like because he's softy,he is, I mean, he's, he could
have, he could have have saucedour intrepid crew many times
(22:25):
over.
He could have taken out thejedi many, many times over, but
he hasn't, he.
He even says he likes obi-wan.
So I want to believe you, buthe's still a cold blooded killer
and a pirate.
So I, I don't know, crash, whatdo you think Would he?
Would?
He saw.
Speaker 2 (22:47):
I, I was watching, I
watched these episodes.
I've seen this, this arc before, but I watched it this time and
my mind kept drifting back toskeleton crew.
Mondo versus Silvo.
Speaker 3 (22:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (23:00):
Like you know, cause
he, he straight up, drew a blade
on these.
He shot at fern's head.
He did, and he'll find a way tojustify it.
Hondo is, you know, he's got agreat line where he, you know,
and he always said at one pointhe says my mood is based on
profit.
I mean, that's it.
Last week he was moving rocketlaunchers to the Resistance.
(23:26):
He paid well enough.
This week he's intentionallytaxed a Jedi cruiser because he
wants kyber crystals and timeswere lean.
So he's like okay, I'm yourfriend today, you know, but my
profit's down, so I gotta dowhat I gotta do right radio,
radio b, said that she wouldwork for hondo and I agree, I, I
(23:48):
would, I would, I would workfor hondo too.
Speaker 1 (23:51):
He's just a great guy
, you know, for as sleazy as he
can be sometimes, you just gottalove him so you know, and he,
he attacked children, he, he, inmy opinion, I think he would
have been willing to take themout, um, he, faced off against
(24:13):
ahsoka, was willing to have hertaken out, um, and at the end of
this arc he saves the day he'suncle hondo again he's, he's
uncle hondo, he has a connectionwith one of them.
But then he bills the republic.
He tells obi-wan, I'll send youan invoice, I'll send you my
(24:36):
bill radio business.
I think if the money was righthe would sauce the children.
I don't think he's a hiredassassin, but I don't think
someone paid him to sauce them,go ahead.
If he had to get through them toget to the money, if the only
way was to sauce these kids andget the treasure, I think he he
(25:00):
would.
I don't think he would be likea gun for hire sort of situation
, but yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (25:05):
I kind of agree with
radio beach there I don't think
so just because, like I remember, when young boba fett came and
he was like you know, tell, tellthem where the hostages?
You know he has lines he won't.
You know he, you know he haslines he won't cross.
Maybe not If the money gets toa certain point they'll get
murky.
(25:25):
But there are certain things Idon't think he would do, even
for money.
Speaker 1 (25:31):
I don't know.
I just, I really I don't know.
And that's another reason why Ithink we love to hate Hondo,
because you just don't know, like, there's other sketchy
characters out there.
Um, you know, at one point bobafett boba fett was kind of a
sketchy character.
Would he have killed kids?
No, I don't think he would.
I think he still has.
He doesn't have that level of,uh, moral ambiguity.
(25:53):
Radio b says, she says, hey, fuel is expensive, that's not
bad.
I mean, that's not, that's notwrong.
And he's flying around, thatflying saucer, which was great.
We're going to talk about shipshere in a minute.
But, um, yeah, I just, I don'tknow, like cad bane, would cad
bane kill children?
absolutely, yeah, I think so noquestions asked yeah, no
(26:16):
questions, I mean it's like you.
Speaker 2 (26:18):
At the end, with
Kanuti, he even says he's
uncomfortable with the idea oftaking children into battle.
So you were talking are theJedi the worst guardians of
these young?
Yes, Ahsoka was with them, butyou would think for such an
important mission they wouldsend more than just a Padawan,
(26:40):
which kind of shows the levelahsoka has risen to, where now
she's being trusted with fairlymoderate level of teaching.
You know she's, she's a padawanand now she's literally like
the, the grad student teacherwho's like helping the younger
classes or the jedi, just don'tcare about children because they
(27:02):
are horrible, horriblecaregivers at like.
Speaker 1 (27:06):
There is I'm
convinced there is no galactic
child protective service agency,or if it is, it's just woefully
understaffed or underfunded.
Because ahsoka is capable.
We know that.
We know that she is more than Imean.
She goes toe-to-toe withgrievous all the time.
I think this is like her thirdor fourth time going toe-to-toe
(27:28):
with grievous and she went upagainst him, young, I think,
like in season one or season one.
Speaker 2 (27:32):
It was battle yeah,
she had.
Speaker 1 (27:35):
She was like there's
this four-armed lightsaber
wielding freak don't worry, Igot this.
It's like you're 12, dial itback, ahsoka.
But she tamed a giantsaber-toothed tiger.
She saved her village frombeing eaten and it's so she's.
She's on a different level, Ithink, than than most children
or even younglings her age, Ithink.
(27:55):
She's a little more advanced, but but again, it's like you
know we're going to send youinto these death caves so you
can get your crystals withoutany adult supervision whatsoever
.
Speaker 2 (28:11):
Yoda was there.
I mean, you know, he sort ofleft it to their interpretation
that the ice wall meant theywere stuck there for a rotation
which everybody thinks, oh, 24hours like the earth.
Well, it could be 19 days, oryou're a Jedi.
Break the damn ice with theforce.
Sure, sure, so could it.
(28:31):
There's a great line in thisthing there's another one I like
, where he tells together andonly together.
I think that is a lesson forthe in this episode, for kids,
that you can do more when youwork together with your friends,
your classmates, your teammates, then you can't alone.
The, the one kid, uh, petro, wasso self sure of himself.
(28:57):
He was first out with a crystalwhich wasn't the right crystal.
He just grabbed the first thinghe saw and ran out because he
wanted to be first.
He was the first one to rush toget his saber together and blew
up on him.
Of course, there's always thatone kid that just turns in his
first draft of the paper andsays, look, I got it done.
Well, you did it wrong, itdoesn't matter.
Speaker 1 (29:25):
You've always got
them, those, and it's you know
you're seeing, you're seeingsome, some archetypes throughout
this.
You know, and I think it's it'srelatable for kids you know to,
to see other kids going throughthe same things.
But like the ice wall, I agreewith you 100, you know, petro
rolled through it.
I mean he, he smashed throughit.
Just fine, they could have usedtheir lightsabers to get
through any number of reasons.
That's not my issue.
(29:46):
My issue is the, the giantcliffs that they could have
easily fallen off of to theirdeaths.
Right, I mean right.
What's yoda?
What's yoda gonna do?
Yoda's on the other side of thetemple hanging out smoking
whatever peyote is in this place, because clearly something was
messing with their minds.
There is some kind of Jedihallucinogenic being pumped into
(30:10):
the caves at Ilum.
And what Sherry said Yoda didsay at the very end, before they
left the cave, that theywouldn't be able to just break
it because of ice.
True, very true.
I think he might have said thatjust to get in their heads a
little bit.
But again, it's not even theice, it's the gigantic drops
(30:32):
that Petro almost fell.
What was the other girl's namethat had to climb up?
I can't remember her name?
Canute Canute?
Yeah, that's the one.
Um, what was the other girl'sname that had to climb up?
I can't remember her name?
Canute canute, yeah, that's theone that that hondo connected
with.
And, um, yeah, she could havefallen to her death, plummeted
to her death.
And again, where was ahsoka?
(30:52):
Where was yoda?
Where was the adult supervision, while these children are
risking their lives for the jediagain?
Once again, they are horribleand, if anything, I think that
the senate should do somethingabout it in terms of removing
their access to children.
It's just, it's out of controlwell, I mean.
Speaker 3 (31:14):
The problem with that
is that we we know exactly what
the emperor thinks is the bestway to deal with children.
Speaker 1 (31:22):
I mean that's sure,
but even we've seen Palpatine
was better with the childrenthan the Jedi.
At least they had nanny botsupervision at all times when
those babies were in danger.
Who put the babies in danger tobegin with?
The Jedi?
Those babies were in danger.
Who put the babies in danger tobegin with?
The jedi?
They're the ones that turnedoff the shields for this, this
(31:45):
sith nursery.
I'm just saying.
I'm just saying those kids wereperfectly safe until the jedi
show up and perfectly safe?
Speaker 2 (31:54):
yeah, perfectly safe,
in like a maniac's death
chamber, but you know they weresafe he wouldn would look at.
Speaker 1 (31:59):
He did fine with maul
.
He I mean, he didn't raise himfrom a, from an infant, but he
did all right, bringing maul up,it's okay.
No, I think, look at like it'slike.
Mr deacon says hater.
No, I think that the jedi arewrong.
Again, I would.
I would rather my child bewatched by palpatine's nanny
(32:19):
bots than to have them watchedby the Jedi.
We've even seen this in YoungJedi Adventures.
Oh yeah, go ahead and take thisstarship with a complete
stranger who is also a child.
Just go ahead and jump to lightspeed, it's fine.
Oh, and we're going to have youdo this trial and you have to
get this seed that's on this 85foot cliff up here.
(32:41):
That's fine, you'll just usethe force, you'll be good.
Speaker 2 (32:46):
No, absolutely not
you know I I don't want to get
too far ahead, but there arethere's a moment in rebels where
we see another jedi temple.
You know, I wonder if theseplaces have sort of built-in
contingencies.
Ezra failed a test.
He fell down a chasm and thenhe ends up a soft landing in a
(33:10):
different room.
I wonder.
The climbing the ice wall to goafter your crystal, is that a
projection?
Is that more of like a holodeck?
Is that a?
I don't know his name, but theIthorian was afraid of the
(33:32):
shadow in your bedroom.
That looks like a monster.
That was a great one where Ithought he was like as soon as
he grabbed his crystal, it's allin his mind yeah, it's just,
it's all in your head, literally.
Speaker 3 (33:45):
That's a good point,
and the fact that Yoda knew
exactly what each of theirtrials were going to be, even if
he didn't exactly say it inthose words like it, makes sense
that, yeah, it could be just asetup.
Speaker 1 (33:58):
It could be a setup.
It could be a holodeck sort ofsituation.
It could be a force projection.
I mean, we've seen that forceprojections are very powerful.
We saw luke do one across space.
You know, radio beach saysmaybe it's just natural
selection.
If the kids don't make it, theydon't deserve to be jedi.
I love that well look at mr dsays tommy d has always been a
Jedi hater.
(34:18):
You're biased.
Hey, the facts speak forthemselves, Mr Deacon.
The facts speak for themselves.
Speaker 2 (34:26):
Well, it wasn't even
like.
Look at Luke in Empire StrikesBack.
That wasn't really Vader in thecave, but it was a
manifestation of his fear.
Speaker 1 (34:34):
And who was also
there at that time?
Yeah, yoda, yoda, yoda.
Putting out the Jedi peyoteAgain, again harming children,
putting children in harm's way.
No, everybody thinks Yoda'sthis cool cute little guy.
No, no, absolutely.
Child neglect, childendangerment charges all day,
(34:56):
every day.
Speaker 2 (34:57):
I can't with yoda
before we get off this the way
as off topic, as we are alreadyyou said tommy d is a sith lord
with a beard.
Speaker 1 (35:04):
Come on, come on.
Speaker 2 (35:08):
Can we talk about the
second episode and David
Tennant as Professor Q Wang?
Speaker 1 (35:14):
Yeah, that was cool.
Speaker 2 (35:15):
That was great, great
casting.
You know, everybody knows himfrom Dr who and there's just
that vibe of of Dr who, thatsort of creeps in when you hear
his voice, but just the ideathat there's somebody, and we
saw him later in Ahsoka Again.
You know that there's somebodyand we saw him later in Ahsoka
Again.
Yeah, there's.
There's a history to thesethings and it's interesting to
(35:36):
find finally meet the person whoteaches these Jedi how to build
a lightsaber and has a memoryof thousands of years, yeah.
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (35:46):
Like Ollivander.
I mean, he was very much yeah.
Speaker 2 (35:48):
From Harry Potter and
it wasander I mean he was very
much an Ollivander from HarryPotter.
Speaker 1 (35:51):
And it was cool
because while Sherry and I were
watching this she had thatmoment of recognition because
she had never seen him before, because she had watched Ahsoka
already.
So seeing him there and thennow again that's a dot connected
in the Clone Wars.
So now when we rewatch Ahsokaand she watches Ahsoka again now
(36:17):
you've got you know, a littlemore connection.
Speaker 2 (36:18):
And let's not forget,
ahsoka and huang were on this
mission together during theclone wars.
Speaker 1 (36:20):
Right, they've known
each other for years, probably a
long time I love that he saidthat he he still remembers
master yoda building building.
Speaker 2 (36:30):
We think of Yoda as
this unthinkable old thing and
it's like oh, huang's older.
Speaker 3 (36:34):
Oh yeah, which for
the record, considering how many
junk droids we see in theuniverse, how good was the
building that put Huang together?
Speaker 2 (36:45):
But he's still going
this little French long.
Even after having his head andarms cut off, like in you know,
he's still what like 90 or 80original parts I mean that's
craftsmanship, man, they don't.
Speaker 1 (36:59):
They don't make them
like that anymore, that is for
sure all right.
So great, great episodes crash.
Do you still have some morenotes?
Speaker 2 (37:08):
I feel like you've
got more oh, oh, where do you
still have some more notes?
I feel like you've got morenotes.
Oh, where do you want?
Okay, let's talk aboutNecessary Bond, the last episode
.
You know Hondo, for as much asHondo likes to flip the script,
we'll be Sith Lords together.
Speaker 1 (37:25):
That was a radio
beach station.
We'll be Sith Lords together.
There you go.
Speaker 2 (37:28):
For as much as Hondo
likes to flip the script with
the Jedi, I'm with you.
I'm against you, I betray you.
Let's not forget, dooku stillholds a grudge for Hondo,
holding him hostage for like aday.
Speaker 1 (37:41):
And he totally played
it off to him and Hondo's just
like, ah, what are you going todo?
Speaker 2 (37:45):
Yeah, whereas the
Jedi Obi-Wan is annoyed by Hondo
, but they'll deal with him.
They'll use him when they needhim, and even in this arc where,
okay, you attack one of ourships, but you help us out in
the past, so they could havearrested him.
Speaker 1 (38:01):
They could have On
the spot.
They could have.
Speaker 2 (38:02):
They should have
arrested him, but you helped us
out, so we'll let you go.
I find it interesting that withthe Separatists, there's no
loyalty, there's nothing butpayback, there's nothing but
vendetta.
And it was.
Speaker 1 (38:18):
It's all absolutes.
It's all absolutes.
Speaker 2 (38:21):
And even among
Hondo's men, the ones that
joined.
It's just that thing whereHondo has a way of he may betray
you, but you, you just can'thate him.
You just can't, I can't, Ican't break away from you, man
you can't.
Speaker 1 (38:38):
And honda again.
Hondo is the best star warscharacter that you love to hate
because, like you cannot.
He's so charming and it's likeyou know that he's gonna stab
you in the back.
You know this but you're justlike ah, but you know what he'll
?
He'll make me laugh or he'llget me something pretty
afterwards, or you know, he'sjust.
(39:01):
He's just that guy.
Speaker 2 (39:04):
But yeah, he's that
vendor at the con that you know
is overcharging, but he alwayshas the good stuff he always has
and he's so nice.
Speaker 1 (39:12):
Well, you know, we go
to uh, we go to the spot um in
cleveland called the west sidemarket and uh, crash.
I'm sure you're familiar withoh yeah yeah.
So there's a there's aparticular produce vendor that
we go to, very nice egyptianwoman and we started going to
her because she was socomplimentary.
(39:33):
She's oh, you're so beautiful, your wife is so pretty, you're
so handsome, you're beautifulcouple.
You know she has this greataccent it's not that I can't do
an egyptian accent, but sheshe's so nice, she's so
flattering, she's socomplimentary.
We give her the money shealways gives us extra produce
whatever and then we get it homeand nine times out of ten the
extra stuff money she alwaysgives us extra produce whatever
and then we get it home and ninetimes out of ten the extra
(39:53):
stuff that she's given us islike in a state of half rock.
Speaker 3 (39:58):
So it's like she's,
she's so nice.
Speaker 1 (40:02):
Yeah, like all the
way on the end she's very nice.
She's very nice and the theproduce that we actually
purchase is great.
I mean it's, it's always fresh,it's, it's, it's good, it's
good produce.
But then once we get into thebottom of the bag there and the
stuff that she had thrown in toget rid of it, I guess you know
oh, here, take some more freestrawberries and you open the
strawberries up and they're alllike black and moldy.
(40:24):
There's like three or fourstrawberries you can pull out.
She's like hondo.
It's like okay, I keep goingback to her.
I keep going back to her forthe good produce because she's
so nice.
But she stabs me in the backwhen she gives me her rotten
fruit that she doesn't want tothrow away.
So she kind of like you know, Idon't, she doesn't charge me
(40:45):
for it, but I'm still paying forit because she's like no, no,
no, take three, four, five andthen do this and that and like,
by the time I'm done, I went inthere for like green beans and a
mango and I'm walking out withlike a bushel of corn, 25 apples
, eight tomatoes, three avocados, 10 bushels of strawberries.
(41:06):
What am I going to do with allthis.
How did she do this to me?
Hondo, she Hondo'd you, shehondo'd me.
So, yep, that's uh what else?
Speaker 2 (41:16):
you got well and just
the other thing I was kind of
interested in um the spacecircus, yeah, and that the kids
team.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah it's justsort of a a little little nod, a
little wink to the old Barnumand Bailey circus, but I love
the fact that it just showedeven in the middle of this war.
(41:38):
That sort of all encompassesthe story of the show.
There's people trying to make aliving, there's people that you
know around, and I just lovethe fact that the kids were
smart enough.
We talk about scenarios likewould a character do this?
Would a character go?
I think these Jedi younglings.
(41:58):
It was interesting that theyimmediately took their natural
abilities that they've beentaught and said that's our end.
That was our Ocean's Elevenheist to break ahsoka out of
hondo's base and they handled it.
Speaker 1 (42:14):
Yeah, I mean, they
didn't, they didn't cry, they
didn't get scared, they didn'twhimper and cower you like, you
know, like they were top oftheir class.
Speaker 2 (42:21):
These kids are the
top gun of the young.
Speaker 1 (42:24):
They they went for it
.
They went for it and the guythat was running the circus um
sherry pointed out he was veryreminiscent of the door guard um
at the emerald city in theoriginal wisdom.
Oh yeah yeah he even had, like, the big mustache and he had
that.
Speaker 2 (42:40):
That's a very similar
voice I like the gomorrean with
the clown makeup.
That was.
That was a great, oh yeah yeah,I just, I love it.
Speaker 1 (42:48):
and then, and then we
get to see hondo's court again,
which is always fun.
Hondo's drinking with a coupleof weekway gals, just you know,
he's just, he's just that guy,he's just that guy and I, I just
love him.
All right, um, so there was alot going on, and this was
obviously learning episodes.
These were learning and growthepisodes for these children.
(43:10):
Learning episodes these werelearning and growth episodes for
these children.
I don't know if we see any ofthem ever again.
Um, however, there is a tie-inlater on and it's one of my
honorable mention ships thatwe'll talk about.
Um crash, I don't remember, butdo you know if we see any of
these kids later on?
Speaker 2 (43:28):
yes, we do.
Okay, I don't remember.
I don't want to give away toomuch away.
We will.
You'll see them around the jeditemple in the background.
I think this is their, theirone big story arc, but you'll
see them in passing um.
You'll see gunji the, thewookiee jedi, later on.
Speaker 1 (43:44):
I do remember gunji.
Yes, that's true, that's right,that's right, that's right but
you know radio beach said thatwould be great if they did that
at galaxy's edge, the circus ohyeah, cool there, that's a great
idea send that in, get a freeroom.
Yeah, get us a free trip.
What's up, girl, go ahead anddo that thing.
(44:04):
All right, so let's do top fivefavorite star wars.
I don't have any media to gowith this because I just thought
about it today.
So Crash, if you'd like to gofirst, tony, do you have your
top five ships ready to go?
Speaker 3 (44:20):
I do have my list.
Speaker 1 (44:21):
Look at you.
Look at you, crash, take itaway.
Speaker 2 (44:23):
Okay, you don't have
the stuff I sent you before the
show.
Speaker 1 (44:27):
No, I didn't have
time.
Okay, no, worries.
Speaker 2 (44:28):
I if I sent you
earlier before the show.
No.
Speaker 1 (44:30):
I didn't have time.
Okay, no worries, I'm sorry, that's okay.
Speaker 2 (44:33):
I'm just going to run
through my list here personally
, so give me a second here.
Speaker 1 (44:37):
But I can actually
try to share my screen.
I don't know if that'll makethe show crash, but I don't know
.
I'll try it see what happens.
All right, what's your firstone?
Are you doing like in ascendingorder, so bottom of your top
five up, or number one or noparticular order?
Speaker 2 (44:59):
No, there's an order
to this, but first off I'm going
to start with is the Mon CalCruiser Independence Home.
1 is known by and Return of theJedi.
As a kid who grew up playing Imajored in x-wing, the pc game
in college that ship was yourhome base for every mission.
So when you, you know, after, after I got my uh tail shut off
(45:22):
and jump back to hyperspace, itwas just home, sweet home, home
one I I.
That ship brings back a lot ofgood memories for me.
Number four is the ghost.
I know this is going to be ahot topic the ghost or the
falcon.
I'm team ghost because Han andChewie lived on the falcon, but
(45:48):
I think we'll see on Rebels thatthe ghost was more than just
their ship, that was their home, especially for harrah, and just
the family mindset of the ghostcrew really made me fall in
love with this ship as a placewhere these people live and not
just where they, you know, usedto travel and it's got a lot of
personality and it does a lot ofcool stuff it does.
Speaker 1 (46:10):
We see it.
We get to see it in live actionas well.
Speaker 2 (46:14):
It's great that they
converted it over to live action
.
I could do a 3D map.
I want to see the phantom.
You do, onosoka.
We see the phantom by itself.
We see the ghost, and it's just.
I want to see the turret on thetop of the ship, everything
that you see.
I don't, yeah, you know, andit's just I.
I want to see the turret on thetop of the ship work.
Yeah, everything that you seein the.
I don't want to get too muchinto rebels, but we'll get there
(46:35):
.
Yeah, and I'm not all lightside my, my number three, the
tie defender.
Oh yes, that grand emeraldthrones baby is a badass little
mother, you knowknow-what.
Speaker 3 (46:51):
Yeah, she's a beast.
Speaker 2 (46:53):
And it was in the TIE
Fighter PC game in the late 90s
too.
That's when it was firstintroduced.
It had shields, it hadhyperdrive, it had missile
launchers.
You could just tear stuff up inthat puppy.
It was on par speed-wise.
Anything the rebels had uh.
Speaker 1 (47:13):
number two is I'm
trying to get pictures and
you're just going too fast okayokay, I'm trying to get pictures
, hold on and I don't know.
I don't know if any of this isgoing to work.
So let me uh, let me do a, letme do a share screen and see if
that'll uh okay and I'm sure ourlisteners are loving this, yeah
(47:33):
um, watching us all clickety, clickety, click um.
Speaker 2 (47:37):
But we're trying new
stuff, so you gotta give us some
time right.
Speaker 1 (47:40):
I just want to make
sure that I've got the the right
one.
I don't want to share somethinginappropriate that I might have
.
Hey, hey, there we go there wego.
Speaker 2 (47:47):
Tie defender, this
bad boy you know, thrawn was
right, it's got shields, it'sgot hyperdrive, it's got
everything that the RebelAlliance uses to their advantage
.
And if they had mass producedthis instead of some of the
standard TIE fighters or TIEInterceptor, it could have
changed the war.
Speaker 1 (48:06):
Oh, no doubt.
Yeah, that thing is a beast.
Speaker 2 (48:10):
Yeah, and it was just
so much fun to play in.
You know, it's got at least, Ithink, six cannons, or something
like that it does you know, andit's just, it was just a terror
on space.
So now here comes the fun part.
I'm going to call this mynumber two, even though I love
(48:30):
it dearly.
The new X-Wings, the.
Speaker 3 (48:35):
T-70s.
Oh, okay.
Speaker 2 (48:39):
See if you get a
chance to pull one up.
But you know, again, I'm likeevery kid I grew up loving Rebel
Pilots and the classic X-Wing.
You know, I still got thehasbro ones from and the kenner
ones from my childhood.
But when force awakens came andthose those new x-wings came
(48:59):
screaming across the lake, itwas like, okay, that was then.
This is now.
This is the upgrade and it'sjust a badass-ass little star
fighter.
It was the King that are in therebellion with the X-Wing and
the King is returned in the, inthe in the T 70.
And it's just a sweet littlefighter.
(49:20):
But my number one and I thinkwe know where this is going,
it's my home away from home.
The Y-Wing yeah, a clone warsclassic, reinvented for the
rebellion, stripped down to keepcompete with more modern
fighters.
This would be like a souping upa uh, uh, an old mustang from
(49:43):
world war ii with jet engines.
It's a.
You know it's a.
It was built as a bomber, itwas built to take out ships and
not dogfight.
But if you strip it down forspeed it could be a
fighter-to-fighter kind ofstarship, just like with the
X-Wings.
Yep, there's my girl.
(50:03):
They take a beating.
I think they're a little moredurable than the X-Wings are in
combat and it's just a greatship.
Speaker 1 (50:13):
I love her yeah, and
it's cool because we do get to
see, um, we get to see the ywings with their, uh, with their
clothes on, I guess in, you cansay, in the clone wars shadow
malevolence the first time yousee one, yeah yeah, there they
go I was.
Speaker 2 (50:35):
Yeah, I was really
big when we were designing uh
squadron patches for our rebellegion base.
We were uh shadow squadron andI I wanted to.
I was really big on the fact.
I said, guys, there was anx-wing shadow squadron and a y
Shadow Squadron.
I wanted to make sure we hadone of each included, because a
lot of the pilot cosplayers liketo.
(50:56):
It's all about the X-Wing,everybody's an X-Wing.
I said no, no, no, you got tohave the wishbones, you got to
have the bombers in there too.
So I'm a big fan of both ships, but at the end of the day, I
think that the Y-Wings don't getas much love as the X-Wings, so
that's why it's my number one.
Speaker 1 (51:12):
No, that's fair.
That's fair, you're right itdoesn't necessarily get the love
that it deserves because it's aworkhorse.
I mean that Y-Wing isdefinitely a workhorse, wing is
(51:39):
definitely a workhorse.
Um, and then we had, uh, wehave mr deacon talking about um
luthens ship.
Luthen rails, uh, the fondorhall craft from andor, season
one, and yeah, that ship is kindof a beast yeah, but you know
what, and Mr Deacon's going toget at me for this too.
But I was so happy watchingAndor because no lightsabers, no
(52:00):
lightsabers at all Until therewas Even on the damn ship.
He's got the twin lightsaberblades coming out of the side of
it.
Like come on, really, we can'tdo one show without a twin
lightsaber blades coming out ofthe side of it.
Like come on, really, we can'tdo one show without a fucking
lightsaber.
Are you serious?
But it was pretty cool.
He did the little spinny trickwith the lightsabers on it.
Speaker 2 (52:21):
uh, the ship mounted
sabers I think there's some
disagreement clarified, if thatI mean I'm not like a
traditional lightsaber.
I mean they haven't clarifiedif that I mean it's not like a
traditional lightsaber blade.
Speaker 1 (52:31):
I mean I don't know
if you can build a lightsaber,
that big, but just the idea that, yeah, it's like the it's an
energy blade of some sort.
It's an energy blade.
Speaker 2 (52:39):
But I was going to
say it's reminiscent of the
movie Ben-Hur and the onechariot that had the blades on
the wheel where he'd take it.
It's the idea of okay, how woulda medium-sized starship fight
dirty?
And I think that was a great, just like the countermeasures
(53:00):
for the tractor beam andeverything.
You're not expecting a shiplike that to compete.
Yeah, there it is.
I don't know if they couldsustain that for a long period
of time, but I think it's justsort of like, like I said, the
the blades on the wheel of yourchariot where you get a quick
hit.
You let the ship go by you andthen you can take it out that
way instead of trying to trackit with a laser.
Speaker 1 (53:21):
Right, no, they just
wanted to sneak in lightsabers,
that's all it was Well, theyWell, they did a good job.
They did a good job, Tony.
What you got All right.
Speaker 3 (53:32):
So first things first
.
I have a dishonorable mention.
Oh, a dishonorable mention, allright.
Okay, and that is going to befor the original TIE Fighter.
I'm sorry, I just don't likethe design.
I think it's ridiculouslyimpractical.
Like, if you see these thingslike on the ground, how do you
(53:52):
get the pilot in and out ofthere?
Like it's ridiculous, not somuch which, when you're flying
it, how, like, how big of ablind spot do you have with
those wings and the placementsthat they're?
all of the blind I just, I justdon't get it.
I don't get it.
It makes no sense to me they'reall blind spot.
Speaker 1 (54:07):
It's nothing like I
know.
I remember they did explain itthat, um, you know it was meant
to be a support, a supportedcraft.
It was meant to be service like.
So you needed, you needed asupport craft in order to do
anything.
But yeah, you're right.
I mean, if you, if you crashsomeone, you're probably gonna
be dead.
No, not you, but if a tie pilotlands that thing, then you know
(54:33):
, yeah, you got to jump downit's.
You know it's not easy to getin and out of, but yeah, you're
not wrong.
Speaker 2 (54:38):
Well, you know in the
, in the old pc game they were
held, you know, in place withlike a clamp, yeah, by the, by
the arms, yeah, um, andMandalorian.
You know, every time they'veseen a different version of this
, you know they always call itlike a different variant.
You know Moth Gideon's TIEFighter, you know, the wings
(55:00):
folded in so that it could layflat and land on landing struts,
whereas on Rebels you'll seelater on they just flat up, set
the wings down like we used todo with our old Kenner TIE
Fighter.
You just lay it on the table, man, and bring out a ladder.
Speaker 3 (55:16):
That's it.
Speaker 1 (55:17):
All right, tony.
What else you?
Speaker 3 (55:18):
got.
I imagine they got a lot ofbacklash from it because, like
all the other designs, theyfixed it.
So I don't know, but that'sokay, all right.
So going into my actual topfive here, okay, the first one
that I've got is the AetherSprite Light Interceptor.
Speaker 1 (55:33):
Also, known as the.
Speaker 3 (55:33):
Jedi Starfighter.
Speaker 1 (55:35):
Oh, yes, wait, which
one?
We were talking about thisbeforehand the wedge or the one
with the S-foils on it?
Speaker 3 (55:45):
The S-foils.
Yeah, it's just great.
Speaker 1 (55:48):
Yeah, I know Crash
said that he liked the old, the
original wedge version first.
He liked that.
That's a terrible, terribleimage.
Let me see if I can find onethat's not microscopic.
Speaker 2 (56:07):
So, anyways, while
he's looking for that, why do
you like this particular version?
Speaker 3 (56:11):
I mean, to me both of
them are great.
Don't get me wrong.
I just like the curve.
It's a nice.
It's something that you don'tsee on a lot of these ships.
A lot of them are so angularand it's just nice to see
something like that.
I appreciate it.
But again, you can swap out forthe the other one and it would
barely be any different wellit's.
Speaker 2 (56:33):
It's sort of a very
interesting evolution from the
previous model to what we nowknow as a tie fighter yeah, yeah
, because we've got the.
Speaker 1 (56:43):
You know you've got
those, those s-foils that come
up and look very, you know, tiefighter ish, and then even the
cockpit.
You know you've got got thatwindow design there.
Speaker 2 (56:53):
Yeah, and that would,
and like the S-foils on this
thing, would really have solvedthe problem with Tony, with the
TIE fighter you know the basicTIE fighter.
If the S-foils, again like MoffGideons, if they folded in the
ship profile flatter, it'd beeasier to land.
Speaker 1 (57:09):
I have, I have, I
have Vader's Hold on, keep going
.
Speaker 3 (57:15):
Keep going, that's
another great example.
So my next one and you can callme basic, I don't care, it's
got to be the Falcon.
The Falcon's just great.
It's a classic for all theright reasons.
Speaker 2 (57:33):
You saw it in that
picture I shared earlier.
It's just iconic Star Wars.
Speaker 1 (57:39):
I didn't have my
headphones on.
What was it?
The Falcon, oh yeah.
Speaker 2 (57:45):
It's almost a
character in itself by the time
we get to see it in EmpireStrikes Back.
Speaker 3 (57:49):
It absolutely is.
If you say to anybody, name mea strip from star wars, that's
the first thing that's going tocome out of their mouth, and
it's for damn good reason, yeah,um, moving on to number three,
uh, my, the one that I have onmy list, that is a, that is a,
(58:11):
um, dark side chip are thevulture droids oh okay, I love
those things.
I love, I love the fact that, like they can actually walk
around on the little, on thelittle legs.
I think it's just justbeautiful design.
I just love it and you what?
Speaker 1 (58:31):
You don't really hear
people giving love to the
vulture droids.
I've never heard anyone in atop five ship conversation say,
yeah, vulture droids, but you'reright, they're versatile.
They look kind of goofy whenthey're walking around, but, man
, when they come at you you'reabout to have a bad day, and
(58:51):
they were a pain in the ass.
Speaker 2 (58:53):
I remember again the
season one episode where the
droid battle where they weregoing to rescue R2, these things
, when they're in their walkingmode, are just as they're almost
more lethal because the sizedifference between a clone
trooper versus one of these guys.
Speaker 3 (59:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (59:12):
It's just like the
Umbara arc, where the first
tanks were small, the next group, the coming after them, were a
little bit bigger.
This would have been amiddle-range size mech.
That would have been a littlemore of a challenge for a couple
clones by themselves.
Speaker 1 (59:27):
And if you're not on
your game, you're going to get
crushed.
Speaker 3 (59:30):
I will say just as an
aside for this for the Star
Wars Unlimited card game, theyjust released these in the
newest set, the Vulture DroidsReally, and the unique feature
that they have so most cards inthe game you're only allowed to
have three copies of in yourdeck this card specifically says
you're allowed up to 15 of them, because that's the nature of
(59:50):
them is that they swarm you.
Speaker 2 (59:52):
Yeah, and that name
really holds true.
They're like vultures, theycircle the deck.
Speaker 1 (59:58):
They come at you.
What else you got?
Speaker 3 (59:59):
Tony, yeah, number
two for me, and I agree with
Crash on this one.
As much as I love the Falcon, Iprefer the Ghost, so the Ghost
is on my list as well.
The Falcon, I prefer the Ghost,so the Ghost is on my list as
well, Now, of course for thesame reasons or what are your
reasons Because, again, theFalcon is iconic, but the Falcon
(01:00:22):
is, at the end of the day, aship, whereas the Ghost is a
home, and I appreciate that, despite the fact that I haven't
seen Rebels, I don't care.
Speaker 1 (01:00:34):
And you said you
haven't seen Rebels.
I have not.
Speaker 3 (01:00:37):
Oh.
Well you're in for a treat.
Speaker 1 (01:00:41):
I've always loved the
look of it.
It's got that classic YTCarillion vibe, but it's one of
those ships reason that I like,I like, crash it.
It is a home and as we, as westart watching rebels, we're
going to start appreciating thefact that it is a home more and
more and more.
(01:01:02):
But like the, the look of it,like the, when you look at the
nose it looks like an old worldwar ii bomber.
It looks beat up and lived inand used and that's what you
want to see in star wars.
You know, star wars is a livedin galaxy and I mean, look at
her, she's, yeah, she's gorgeousit reminds me a lot of the
(01:01:24):
serenity from firefly especiallythe, especially in the front of
it.
Speaker 2 (01:01:28):
That loading ramp is
so useful in the story.
The Falcon was great but evenlike you remember the original
Kenner toy.
The ramp would come down if youdidn't lose pieces, parts or
just like right there that isentering Hera's house.
That is their home.
Speaker 3 (01:01:50):
That is their
workplace.
Speaker 2 (01:01:52):
That is where they
travel the galaxy in.
And you look, you got theturret facing you right there,
which was like ezra's kind ofhangout place.
You got the cockpit right there.
Like you said, very uh, worldWar II bomber Vibe but look at
this, look at the details on.
Speaker 1 (01:02:08):
yeah, it's just such
a gorgeous ship.
Speaker 2 (01:02:12):
I remember when they
showed a live-action render of
it because it sneaks into RogueOne, and the first time they
showed the live CG version ofthis ship, everybody freaked out
.
Speaker 3 (01:02:25):
All right, and for me
, my number one again.
You can call me basic if youwant, I don't care.
No, no, no, the.
You can call me basic if youwant, I don't care.
No, no, no.
Classic X-Wing there you go.
Speaker 1 (01:02:35):
It's just the old
T-65, right.
Speaker 3 (01:02:39):
Like for me that,
like that is the the
quintessential.
If I could have a one ship, that's the one I want.
Speaker 1 (01:02:50):
So what is it?
What is it about the, thebeautiful and, uh, and, like you
said, the iconic x-wing?
What is it about it?
Speaker 3 (01:02:59):
I mean just the very
first time that I saw that.
I saw it go from, you know, from two to four, where it split
out and just like, okay, so youjust don't.
You know when technically youdidn't, but you doubled your
firepower because now you've gotfour different targets that you
can come to the same Like.
It's just beautiful.
It really is.
It's a hot rod.
Speaker 1 (01:03:20):
There's no doubt it's
.
It's a hot rod, for sure.
Speaker 3 (01:03:31):
Like and you know we
talked about it quite a lot when
we did, when we used skeletonproof when they're, when they're
looking up, when the x wingscome in, like that's me right
there, that's the yes.
Speaker 1 (01:03:35):
Yes, this is what I
want but and it's, it's a
beautiful ship, it is it, itgets, it gets the job done um.
Speaker 2 (01:03:50):
It's multi-purpose
it's a dogfighter, it's an
attack run ship, you can doalmost anything with it.
Speaker 1 (01:04:01):
It's just beautiful.
It's a beautiful ship and Ilove it because it does have hot
rod vibes.
I love it All right.
That's a good top five.
That's a good top five.
That's a good top five, allright uh, yeah, boss, what do
you got?
all right, we'll, we'll do mine,we'll wrap up right, all right.
So my uh, going from, from thebottom, it's uh, it's gonna be
(01:04:28):
one of my favorite ships dashrendars, yt 2400, the outrider,
but any yt 2400, there's been afew of them out there, but, um,
again, you've got.
You've got those carillionfreighter vibes, you've got that
offset cockpit.
But it was like I remember thetoy for it, like it, the, the
(01:04:50):
cockpit would the toy the toy isa little messy in the the other
cockpit.
Speaker 2 (01:04:56):
You didn't, it was
like you had to pull it out.
Yeah, whereas you think this isthe configuration you would
expect to ship it to be in.
But toy makers always wanted atthat time, always wanted to add
a transformation, a gimmick,always wanted to add a
transformation, a gimmick, andit just it should have just left
it like this.
Speaker 1 (01:05:15):
But I, I love it like
I, I love this ship so much I I
recreated it as best I could inthe game starfield.
So if you haven't playedstarfield, it has an incredibly
robust shipbuilding mechanic andI was able to get very, very
close to the yt 2400 here.
Um yeah, great ship, all right, moving along the razor crest
(01:05:39):
rest in peace rest in peace, riprazor crest.
I was heartbroken because I lovethis ship, the saint, for the
same reasons that we love thefalcon and the ghost.
This is din jarin's home.
This is his world.
I mean everything it's.
It's got everything that heneeds he's got.
(01:06:00):
He's got an evacuation unit,he's got a little sleeping pod.
He has a whole freaking arsenalin his closet, you know he's
got.
He's got an on board minicarbonite chamber so he can
freeze his bounties.
It's just everything about thatship was amazing and apparently
(01:06:21):
it's very easy to take apart andput back together again,
because he did it multiple times, like overnight, with a couple
of different people.
So apparently the the razorcrest is made of legos, because
it was completely stripped andthen put back together overnight
.
So I mean, what are you gonnado?
So, yeah, the razor crest, absolutely love it.
(01:06:43):
So next up is goran shards.
Uh, corsair, I think it.
I don't think it has a name andif it does, I wasn't able to
find one.
So, keeper of the Holocron, maybe you'd have better luck
than I did.
I don't know.
I couldn't find it.
All I could find was that itwas a Cumulus-class Corsair.
(01:07:04):
What?
Speaker 2 (01:07:04):
do you like about?
Speaker 1 (01:07:06):
it.
Just look at it Again to ourlisteners.
I'm sorry, it just looks somean, like it just it screams
pirate ship.
I mean it really does.
It doesn't look like it'sbristling with weapons and it
doesn't look like anything else.
It doesn't look like it's arepurposed Imperial ship.
(01:07:28):
It doesn't look like arepurposed Republic ship.
It's very much its own thing.
And it looks like and I likepirate stuff anyway and it just
looks like it gets shit done.
Speaker 2 (01:07:41):
I like that.
It's got the guns underneath,it's a pirate ship, it's got
plenty of firepower.
Speaker 1 (01:07:46):
but I also like the
fact that it's also part
aircraft carrier yeah, yeah, Imean because think about like
pirate ships would go into aport and lay siege to a town,
you know, and when you'reoverhead it, it makes sense to
have all that, those cannonsunderneath.
And we saw that in theMandalorian.
We saw the town you knowbesieged by this giant pirate
(01:08:09):
ship and it's just, she's athing of beauty.
She's a thing of beauty, that'sit.
Speaker 3 (01:08:13):
She does not have an
official name.
She is just listed as it's acumulus class Corsair, but it
does not have an official nameof its own.
Speaker 1 (01:08:22):
Okay, thank you you,
keeper of the holocron.
I appreciate that, um, allright, so number four, right,
number four is the vt49decimator.
It's an imperial craft and Ilove that stupid ship.
I first encountered it playingstar wars galaxies.
I'm not going to get into thatbecause we're going to be here
(01:08:42):
for another hour and a half.
I start talking about star warsgalaxies, but that was my
imperial home away from home.
You could staff it with fiveother players, um, two or seven,
I think it was seven.
So you had two cannons up anddown.
You had pilot co-pilot up front, um, and then you had three
(01:09:03):
spots that um, that wereengineering sections, because as
you start taking damage, plasmaconduits would rupture and you
would need people to run aroundthe ship repairing the plasma
conduits.
It was a lot of fun to get intofights with that thing.
Whether you're doing PVP or PVE, pvp or pve, you know when
(01:09:27):
things really start.
You know hitting the, hittingthe fan and plasma starts
rupturing and your shields startgoing down and you've got your
friends running around the ship.
It was, it was a good time, um,and it's popped up.
I think it's in the um, it's instar wars x-wing, the, the
miniature game, uh, and it'sjust.
It's a beautiful ship all theway around.
And then, finally, my numberone favorite.
(01:09:47):
I have a couple of honorablementions, but my number one
favorite ship, the royal guardtie interceptor.
A thing of beauty is that vonregs?
Speaker 3 (01:09:58):
say again is that
major von regs?
Speaker 1 (01:10:01):
no, no, no, that's uh
.
He has a complete differentship.
He has an interceptor, but it'snot.
It's not this, this was oh.
Sherry said that I think shewas talking about the Corsair.
Looks like it would be an alienship from the movie Alien, yeah
, or a bird of prey.
Speaker 2 (01:10:19):
It does it definitely
does have it, gives it five,
yeah, yeah absolutely, or a birdof prey.
It definitely does have.
It gives it a five.
Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
Speaker 1 (01:10:24):
This I was first
introduced to again in Star Wars
Galaxies and it's just like asouped-up TIE interceptor that
was used to escort the Emperor'sships.
So we don't get to see it onscreen.
And if I may brag, I am oh,please do me, let me go ahead
(01:10:46):
and brag on this, because youknow why not?
Um, on my official 501sttrading card, in my tie pilot,
I'm the only one at well, Idon't know about anymore, but at
the time I was the only onethat had that was authorized to
have the red tie interceptor, the royal guard, intercept as my
background image on my officialcard.
Speaker 3 (01:11:08):
Nice.
Speaker 2 (01:11:12):
Do you think the
Royal Guards would they wear the
standard black or would theyhave a red version of the TIE
Pilot?
Speaker 1 (01:11:22):
I don't think that it
was flown by actual royal
guards um themselves.
Uh, I think it was um, uh, itwas just really like hardcore
elite tie pilots um who were, uh, who were flying it okay, um
(01:11:43):
I'm just having this image of,like the old kenner action
figure toy.
Speaker 2 (01:11:46):
Like somebody's
stuffing their royal guard
figure into a tie intercepter.
Speaker 1 (01:11:51):
Yeah, no, no, no, it
wasn't.
It wasn't that they were justlike the elite.
So think like you know, like101st yeah you're 181st.
Speaker 2 (01:11:59):
I'm sorry, uh, you
know the the 184 inferno squad
would be a good possible.
Yeah, like a variant where likeit's the black uniform, but
maybe with some red accents yeah, yeah, and I'll share.
Speaker 1 (01:12:09):
Uh, I'll share my, uh
, my honorable mention, which
does actually um, um, tie intothe show and um, let's see, nope
, it's not doing it, it won'tshare from there.
(01:12:31):
Okay, maybe I have to reshare,I don't know.
There we go, there we go.
That is the Catoony lightfreighter, that's hondo's
freighter and he named it thekatuni.
Oh so how cool is that and it'sa good looking ship.
(01:12:54):
Oh yeah, it's not.
I mean, admittedly, it's cool, but it's not as awesome as the
flying saucers, the Corona-classflying saucers that Hondo uses.
Those are just badass, I mean, because they're just so
obnoxious.
Of course Hondo is going to beflying around in a freaking
(01:13:15):
flying saucer.
Of course, how could he not?
Speaker 2 (01:13:18):
And for as much as
Star Wars likes to draw on retro
sci-fi, it was just such agreat callback to like hey look,
an actual flying saucer.
Speaker 1 (01:13:25):
Absolutely,
absolutely.
So there you go.
Those are our top five ships.
We should do top fives moreoften, but maybe have more prep
time, because Live and learn.
Live and learn.
So we'll do another top five.
Let us know what you think ournext top five should be.
I know listicles are kind of uh, you know they're easy content,
(01:13:50):
but it's fun because everyonehas their different versions of
their you know their, theirfavorites or their least
favorites.
So maybe we should do droidsnext, or fight scenes, you know,
or battles, you know, whatever, whatever you think, so let us
know in the comments.
Um, and we'll, uh, we will tryto accommodate hey, hmm, tony
