beginning of the rebellion andthe beginning of the third thing
that I couldn't come up with.
So, plus, we've got our topfive picks for the most hated
Star Wars characters in thegalaxy.
We've got all that and pullthis up because I still don't
(00:39):
know what I'm doing, becausethis is all brand new.
But there we go, all right.
Hey there, star warriors, welcome to star wars.
Safe space, your non-toxic, lowsodium star wars show.
That doesn't make you feel badfor not knowing that asajj
ventress was, uh, supposed to bein attack of the clones but was
cut when christopher lee signedup to play count dooku.
(00:59):
How cool would that have been.
A live action asajj, can youimagine?
Speaker 2 (01:05):
her and mcregor going
back and forth.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
Oh, of course I can.
Of course I can, but who wouldhave played her?
That's something else we cantalk about.
That's a whole other show.
So, whether you're a hardcoreStar Wars fan or just a little,
this is your Star Wars safespace.
We are the Circle of Nerds andwe do, in fact, love Star Wars,
even if we don't always like it.
So, uh, let's meet the Circleof Nerds.
(01:31):
Shall we Push this button here?
Slide this guy over here.
Hey, it's the pilot of theinfamous Parmaflyer Crash.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
How you doing.
Everybody S-foils locked, readyto go.
We got a whole new season.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
Let's go.
I know right, I'm excited, super excited, and hailing from
parts unknown, it's T to the onioni.
Speaker 3 (01:52):
Welcome back to the
galaxy, Everybody.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
Let's get it going
yeah, let's do the thing.
And I'm Tommy D and we areexcited, alright.
So what are we doing here onthis show?
Well, it's our mission to watchall of the Canon star Wars
films and TV shows inchronological order.
Uh, we're gonna be breakingthem down, connecting the dots
and learning a bit more aboutstar Wars, and maybe even a
(02:15):
little about ourselves along theway.
So a word of warning to all youwould be star warriors out
there.
There will be spoilers, so dobe prepared for that.
That's why we do try to giveyou some homework at the end of
each episode.
Let you know what to watch.
That way, you know, we're notspoiling too much for you along
(02:37):
the way.
First, we have our own Facebookgroup.
So, if you want, just look forthe Facebook group called Swarzy
Curious, and someday I'll havea little thing that pops up on
here like bring that shows theSwarzy Curious thing.
But I don't have that right nowbecause I'm ill prepared, as
(02:57):
per usual, but anyway, shouldn'tbe too hard to find.
We're the only Star Wars groupout there called Swarzy Curious,
so S-W-A-r-s-y curious, uh, so,yeah, so in the news there's uh
, there's a few things do youguys want to discuss, uh, some
of the stuff that's going on,because I know there's um well,
(03:20):
the big thing is sort of wherethe news is that we're about to
get a whole bunch of news out inJapan, you know if you want to
start there, because that'sreally where the big momentum is
going.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
Indeed.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
Are you going?
Speaker 2 (03:33):
No go ahead, fire
away.
You had something earlier.
We were kind of hinting.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
No, I'm adding.
Were you going?
Are you going to?
No, for once, I'm not going toStar.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
Wars.
It was a no for once I'm notgoing to a Star Wars A little
out of range for a Y-Wing.
I've been to London for thelast one and I'm kind of hoping
that they're going to announcesomething in the States again in
like a year or two, maybearound the time of a Rey movie.
Be nice.
But yeah, japan was just alittle out of the budget and a
(04:01):
lot of people I've talked tothat's kind of like the grind is
like I'd love to.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
I'll watch the live
streams, but yeesh, yeah yeah,
it's a bit much, but you knowwhat, to be honest, you know
we're we're gonna be so big withthis, uh, this podcast.
We're gonna get invited nexttime.
We're gonna get the email sayhey, star warriors, star wars,
safe space, we want you to comeout and host a panel, all
(04:29):
explicitly yeah, we'll getlucasfilm to put the bill I say
we do a show from there.
That'd be hilarious, that'd begreat, of course, I think that
would be great.
We, we absolutely have to dothat, so I don't know.
So there's, there is a lot ofstuff going on um 10-year
(04:51):
anniversary of the force awakens.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
Yeah, oh, my god, I'm
so old we're all a bunch of
matt damonifs of us slowlymorphing into our own selves, oh
geez.
Not only is it First Awakensbut they announced the
anniversary for Revenge of theSith and it's getting a
theatrical re-release coming up.
(05:15):
Yeah, I'm looking forward tothat I remember I was in charge
of the local Cleveland Fan Forcechapter.
We were camped out, I was doingall the local.
I think we hit every TV station, local Cleveland fan force
chapter.
We were camped out, I was doingall the local.
I think we hit every TV station.
It's like 10 o'clock news presshit.
We were there, we hadstormtroopers and filled the
theater.
It was a great time because wethought this was going to be
(05:36):
like the last Star Wars.
Everybody was just sort of likesoaking it all in.
And then a few years later, youknow, when they announced the
sequel trilogy, it's like okay,we're going to keep going, let's
roll.
Speaker 1 (05:50):
And then you've got
the really seasoned folks like
myself, who saw A New Hope intheaters when it came out and we
thought Jedi would be the last.
Speaker 2 (06:05):
We never, ever
imagined that it would go beyond
jedi I, you know, I I've talkedabout my sister and how we're
10 years apart and she's aprequel baby.
She grew up as a as a star warsfan during the prequels and I
mean I, yeah, there was a timewhere I'd explain her like there
were these three movies thatnerds like us worshipped, and
that was it.
And you just had these threeVHS tapes and you ran out of the
(06:30):
death and you memorized everyline and then, all of a sudden,
george said, hey, the technologyis where I want it to be.
Let's do it again.
Let's do that backstory.
Well, we got the specialeditions.
We got the special editions.
Speaker 1 (06:43):
The special editions.
Speaker 2 (06:44):
We got the special
edition yeah, and that was sort
of like the, the okay, it'salmost like a test drive, a beta
test, yeah, and speaking ofwhich special edition of return
of the jedi released today backin, I think it was 97 today, on
this day, yeah, oh man oh,that's cool, tony.
(07:05):
You're taking me back, brother, you know what we should do.
Speaker 1 (07:08):
We need to.
We need to have like a this dayin star wars history, sort of
thing, or this week in star warshistory.
Speaker 2 (07:14):
I'm gonna make that a
segment for the show yeah, do a
little bit of research, alittle bit, you know, like week
by week.
Yeah, because there's just somany things that you know, like
you know, the special editionswere great.
Yeah, I know some people don'tlike them because they want the
pure original.
You know, a lot of people thinkthey know george lucas's vision
better than you know people whowork for george lucas.
But but it's like, look, youknow, we were just happy to see
(07:38):
star wars on a big screen and Ithink for even the prequel
babies.
You know, revenge of the s waskind of a big deal.
It's my least favorite starWars movie and I say that I mean
I love it.
But if you, you know, when you,if you do rank 13 movies and
the I count clone Warstheatrical, it's like, well,
yeah, I love it, but it's theone where the bad guys win and
(08:00):
all the Jedi younglings getslaughtered.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
We're putting that at
the bottom of the list.
That goes at the bottom of thelist, for sure.
Speaker 2 (08:08):
But I still love that
.
Fight between Ewan and Haydenwas just epic.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
Oh yeah, I mean there
was a lot of really epic
moments.
I mean, in all of the prequelfilms there were a lot of really
epic moments.
But George said that the reasonthat a lot of the original
trilogy fans didn't like theprequels is because they didn't
grow up with it, so they didn'thave that nostalgia factor
attached to it I'm living proof, like I said snips and I, that
(08:34):
there's just this generationalgap.
Speaker 2 (08:36):
some, a lot of people
like myself, you know, sort of
embrace the new, but there weresome guys that just wanted to be
the star Wars trivial pursuitchamp of their childhood.
And the cycle's repeating nowwith the sequels.
Speaker 1 (08:48):
Yeah, Like I've I've
grown to appreciate it over the
years, appreciate the prequels,um, I've I've grown to enjoy
them, but at the side.
But but so we've we, you know,we've talked about the fandom
menace.
You know, especially onceacolyte came out, I mean, that
(09:13):
was just like that was, I wouldsay, the rise of the modern
phantom menace or a fandommenace.
But it wasn't the firstappearance of them.
When, when the uh, the specialeditions came out, I mean, that
was the first time, like people, people always say star wars is
dead, star wars is dead, butain't dead yet.
Um, but it was when the specialeditions came out.
That was the first time starwars died was when the special
(09:34):
editions came out, becausepeople absolutely hated them.
They're like this isn't my starwars, it's, you know, because
they're, they're purists.
How dare you?
Speaker 2 (09:42):
how dare you make the
space battles look slick.
And you know those models wereinnovative.
Yeah, back in the 70s, yeah,but I mean it's still great, I
still watch the unedited version.
there's a dvd copy they put outa couple years back that had the
special edition.
Like the special edition issort of a misnomer, that's that
movie's been tinkered with somany different times.
(10:03):
Every time they put out a newprint they tinker with things.
But they have a great copy ifyou can find it.
On the DVD that has the specialedition of the most current
version they had with the littletweaks that you've got to watch
for, and then a second discwith the unedited original
version and sometimes it's funto go back and watch that.
(10:24):
I'm not one of those guys thatare like I have my laser disc
and that's all I.
That's my true story.
Relax, man.
I like the CGI, x-wings and TIEFighters.
I love the models.
That was my childhood.
I still got the old Kenner TIEFighter and X-Wing Right on, but
when those new space battlescame in, that was just sexy to
watch.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
It was nice.
It was nice.
And you know you bring upLaserDisc.
I'm glad you brought that upbecause you know these young
whippersnappers today.
They'll never know the pain ofhaving to upgrade your media
collection every time a new typeof media comes out.
(11:05):
You know you've got.
You've got the original trilogybox set, vhs tapes, and then
like every few years they hadlike a re-release with like
different box art on it.
So you had to get those.
But then and dvds came out likeshit.
Okay, now I gotta get, now Igotta get the, get the DVD
versions because the higherdefinition is better resolution.
(11:27):
All right, cool, that's great,awesome.
So now you've got this huge, fucking gigantic wall of DVDs
and then Blu-ray comes out.
You're like, oh my God, it'slike how many thousands of
dollars has the average StarWars?
And not even like a hardcorefan I'm not even talking about
people doing with thecollectibles, but people that
(11:47):
just get the movies.
How many thousands of dollarshave we given to lucasfilm over
the years just up, upgrading ourlibrary, you know?
And then they come out with thecollector's editions, like the,
the nine disc box set withcommentary, and the, the art
book, and it's just like.
And then when the prequels cameout.
(12:07):
Now you've got the six disccollector's edition with all six
movies and which I thought letme ask.
Speaker 2 (12:15):
I want to ask this
because I again my my
perspective is a little widerranging did you see the special
editions and when they came out,or did you watch them when they
came on TV or on video?
Speaker 3 (12:28):
so my father figure
what, was into Star Wars, so we
saw them in theaters.
Okay, I mean I was 14 years old, but it was.
Yeah, I obviously had seen theoriginal trilogy, of course, by
then, so watching the specialeditions was a lot of fun.
At the time again, I was stillrelatively young, so there were
(12:50):
little things where I could seelike, okay, just the difference
in overall quality of thecinematography and all that
stuff Graphically, whatnot, butas far as changes in dialogue
and little cuts here and there,I wouldn't have been familiar
enough to be able to pinpointthose things and be like, oh,
this is a funny story.
Speaker 2 (13:13):
I was at Kent State
go Flashes working at the campus
TV station and when the specialeditions came out, we got a
copy of the press kit.
Now, if you think of videoproduction, guys, we're all.
We're all just a bunch of nerds, and most of them are want to
be film students, of course.
(13:34):
Oh, that press kit came in andwe we grabbed is this three
quarter inch beta tape and randown to the edit bay.
You would think like the girlswere laughing at us.
Grabbed this three-quarter-inchbeta tape and ran down to the
edit bay.
You would think like the girlswere laughing at us because like
20 guys tried to cram into thislittle phone booth-sized edit
suite to watch this tape andthey were like I'll never forget
(13:56):
Amy said this.
They were like you guys looklike you just got your first
Playboy.
I mean, guys were like leaningover shoulders, looking around
just to get a glimpse at, youknow, because they were talking
about the upgraded effects andespecially like the way they
improved, like the Bespin scenesand the approach to the city.
It wasn't a map painting, ithad flow and you had dimensions.
(14:18):
That was some of my favoriteparts about the special edition
was that the things they couldupgrade the space battles, the
scenery in some places likebespin, that was just like it
was next level.
Speaker 1 (14:31):
Yeah time, at that
time it was next level and it's
fun.
It's fun to go back and watchthe original trilogy in its
original form, you know, andthen watch the special editions
and watch some of the the moreupgraded versions.
It's just it's fun to see thatand and to see george lucas's
(14:53):
vision like actually come tolife and take shape and it's,
you know, kind of the way thathe wanted it to be.
Um, and with that being said, speaking of george lucas, uh,
april 18th on disney plus, I'mvery excited about this.
If you haven't seen light magicyet, if you're a star wars fan
at all, or even if you are justswarzy curious, like we say, um,
(15:17):
light magic is a great, great, great behind the scenes
documentary.
So if you have, you guys, seenit yet, yeah, oh, and that's
yeah.
Speaker 2 (15:26):
I grew up, yeah, like
I said, I went into video
production because I could.
I wasn't cool enough to go tofilm school but I loved working,
you know, with cameras and withyou know, even during the
original trilogy, I always hadthose special um behind the
behind the scenes like I thinkcarrie fisher hosted one and
they'd show you how they madethe ad ads work.
And so I used to do that.
Speaker 1 (15:46):
Like I got a stop
motion camera one year for a
class and I was like I took myad toy in the middle of blizzard
and just did the old trump andthe ad ad back and forth, of
course, and that's what you did,you know, you, you, you know,
we got our action figures and wegot our legos and things like
that and we recreated all thatstuff you know, with, like, you
had a stop motion camera.
(16:07):
I had an old, uh shouldermounted vhs camera and it was
like literally like push, play, move it, push, pause, like push
play, push, and it was just itwas so bad.
But then when you run it back, you're just like, oh my god,
this is the coolest thing ever.
Like, oh my god, but all right,so this season we're gonna be
(16:28):
talking about season five of theclone wars.
Uh, obviously, we just wrappedup season four.
That was a roller coaster rideof emotion and we're not done
yet.
Um, season five is packed with,uh, with goodness, and it's a
(16:49):
short.
It's a short season.
The seasons just continue toget shorter and shorter from
here on out, unfortunately.
But, uh, we've got, uh, I thinkit's made of like four or five
arcs.
I, I think there's it's justbasically multiple four episode
arcs throughout the entireseason and, uh, I'm looking for
(17:13):
it.
This is for anyone who's anAhsoka fan.
This is going to be next levelfor you.
This is going to be if youhaven't seen it, if you've not
seen season five yet, and Ireally hope that a lot of the
people watching and listeningare going on this journey with
us, having not seen these thingsor maybe having gone years
without seeing some of thethings that we're going to be
watching, because I I reallyenvy the people that are are
(17:36):
seeing this for the first time.
I wish I could experience thesethese episodes again for the
first time, but my brain is shotso I forgotten so much it's
almost like I'm seeing it againfor the first time.
So that works, but, um, yeah, crash.
I know you've seen season five,tony.
Have you seen season five?
Speaker 3 (17:57):
I have not okay, so
you're in?
Speaker 2 (18:00):
no, I've not seen it
all right, you're in for a treat
, and if you, tony, last time wewere talking about this, the
two-parter from the previousseason introduced Darth Maul and
Savage pairing up.
This season debuted at StarWars Celebration in Orlando
(18:21):
midsummer.
They aired the last twoepisodes of the previous season
and the first episode of thisseason Red carpet, you know,
premiere style event.
They had, you know, top levelcosplayers out there Bo-Katan,
darth Maul.
You know they were reallygetting ready to hype this
season because they, you know Ifeel like the show had really
(18:43):
latched on to the audience and alot of that negativity at the
beginning about being, oh, thisis just a kid's cartoon.
Dave put that to rest last year, as you saw, and it was really
exciting to watch a hype for ashow, a Star Wars show, animated
or live action.
It's funny that you say they'reessentially just clusters of
(19:07):
mini episode arcs, becausethat's what Andor's doing this
season with season two, yes, three episodes and they're going
to jump a year and then doanother three.
Speaker 1 (19:16):
And they're nestled
in with rebels.
As I was redoing our roadmap forAndor, they're falling in
between uh episodes of of uhrebels yep so, once we get to
rebels, we're gonna watch andor,of course, and we're gonna,
we're gonna talk about andor, but once we, once we get to
(19:38):
rebels, uh, we'll be revisitingandor season two, because we're
gonna watch andor season onebefore we hit rebels, um, but
then, as we're watching rebelsand talking about rebels on the
show, we're gonna be revisitingand or season two because of the
way that it's like, like, ifyou go to the wiki, um, they've
(19:59):
just got like placeholderepisodes in right now because
they don't want to put anyspoilers out, right, but it's
like, oh man, it's just, it's soexciting, it's so exciting, but
and or makes me want to getarrested I understand that and
or makes me want to get arrested.
(20:19):
saw, guerrera makes me want toget arrested, like and like we
talked about.
I think we talked about thislast time.
Saw is I get it?
I get it.
I see where you're coming fromnow, my guy.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
Not to give too much
away, but we're going to see the
seeds of that in this season ofClone Wars.
We are I was a big Sawgriar,I'm still a big Saw fan, but
yeah, especially in this part ofthe timeline, as you're going
to see, because you saw, youknow, rogue one had come out.
(20:54):
I think it broke, wanted tocome out already, yeah, and it
was just one of those thingswhere it's like, okay, there's
this dude and he's like supermilitant on the rebel side, but
you also go this dude and he'slike super militant on the rebel
side, but you also go,brother's got a point, he's got
a point, he's got a point.
Speaker 1 (21:10):
So we're gonna see,
which is exciting too, we're
gonna see um saw as a young man.
You know, before before he'squote-unquote radicalized and I
don't even I don't want to callsaw radicalized, I want to say
that he was normalized, you knowit's.
(21:30):
He saw despises the empire liketo his core, as do most people
in the galaxy, but his hatred isit comes from a different place
and we get to see the, thebirth of that.
We get to see the birth of,like dark side, saw Gerrera and,
(21:52):
you know, get moreunderstanding, like we did with
with Dooku.
You know, when we were lookingat uh, tales of the Jedi, you
know we got a little moreinsight into Dooku and maybe a
little, maybe we get a littlemore sympathy for him now a
little bit.
You know and saw a lot moresympathy for that guy.
But we're going to see that.
(22:13):
Tony, you're going to have fun.
This is going to be a greatseason.
Oh sure, we get to see some, weget to see the beginning of of
saw, we get to see incrediblegrowth from ahsoka.
This is without, withoutspoilers.
(22:34):
I would say and and crash.
Let me know what you think heretoo.
But I would say this is such amajor, major turning point
moment for ahsoka here in seasonfive oh this, this was huge.
Speaker 2 (22:49):
This was I.
My sister and I we drive, wedrive around a lot together and
like there were times where myright shoulder hurts because
something happens with ahsokaand and all of a sudden she's
just punching me in the arm, this was I don't want to
overstate it, I don't want toget too reaction video crazy
(23:12):
about this, but this was notoriginally going to be the final
season, so we didn't find outuntil after the season had ended
that the show was canceled.
Speaker 1 (23:25):
The license on it had
expired.
Speaker 2 (23:27):
Right and it was part
of the Disney sale and they
were talking about moving into anew direction.
Ie Rebels, so we thought thiswas it.
But going into the season, Imean Dave took some big swings,
big swings and Ahsoka's heartand center of a lot, of, a lot
of them- well, that's his baby.
Speaker 1 (23:46):
I mean his child.
I mean even he loves, he loveswolf and rex and the wolf pack.
Ahsoka is his baby.
I mean, he obviously clearlyshe's got her own freaking live
action series.
You know, and you know therebels characters.
Those are his babies as well, because ahsoka, the live action
(24:07):
is basically just season 4.5,well, season 5 of rebels,
basically so.
But I I gotta say I'm excited.
I'm excited because I haven'tseen these episodes in years, um
, and tony's never seen them.
Speaker 2 (24:22):
I'm I remember them,
but I I remember vividly
watching that last, that finalepisode of season five, and then
finding out that that's it,that was a wrap there's a thing
and I won't give it away for fortony um, there's a thing that
happens and actually Ecksteintells this great story at her
(24:45):
panels that they had to haveeverybody else out of the
recording room, just her andMatt and Dave, just to direct.
They hit, record, the engineersdo their thing and they just
let the three of them cook insolitude, because this season's
going to really shake up thethree of them cook in solitude
(25:05):
because this season's gonnareally shake up the core of what
those two are that Dave hasbuilt up in this show.
You can kind of guess, becauseif you've seen the movies, we
don't see Ahsoka.
Speaker 3 (25:20):
The live action.
It's mentioned that she steppedaway, so there's presumably
something happened.
Speaker 2 (25:24):
I just don't know
what Something happens and she
steps away.
Oh, something happens, allright.
And it's literallygut-wrenching end of the arc,
kind of like.
That's it.
You leave us with that.
Speaker 1 (25:40):
You want to talk
about like a cliffhanger.
You want to talk about like acliffhanger.
It like millions of of starWars nerds cried out and were
suddenly silenced.
It was.
It felt like that.
It felt like the death star hadjust fired it's super laser
into my heart.
Speaker 2 (25:58):
when, when season
five wrapped up and that's what
we're about to dive into, andagain a lot of that had to do
with the lucas selling to disneyand and the shift in the
timeline getting reset, uh,officially for licensing, you
know, right, all the eu stuffhad to get like turned to
legends it's not official canon, because they were, you know.
(26:21):
They didn't want to pinthemselves into a corner where
we can't do any new shows ormovies unless it adheres to
these old, these books that havebeen out.
And there's licensing and authorrights and there's all sorts of
but Dave, but Dave yeah, Dave,Dave was already cooking with
clone wars and it was like youknow, you could tell that at
some point they just said, okay, you have all these like things,
(26:43):
these things you want to laydown the road as potential
storylines, and we're done.
Speaker 1 (26:49):
Yeah, so thankfully,
oh, and also, as as I was doing
my research for this, there are,um, there are these other
episodes that I have not seen,um, and they're uh, they're
prelude episodes that uh, um,there are the they're the
(27:12):
unfinished episodes, and theseunfinished episodes take place
between season six and seven.
Uh, there's four of them.
I've not seen any of them, sowe might have to dive into those
.
Have you seen them?
They're really rough, they're.
They look like really bad, likelike late 90s cg type of type
(27:33):
of stuff I don't remember enoughabout the actual storyline of
them.
Speaker 2 (27:37):
I've seen clips.
I think they were going to do,I think one centered around I
think all four of them are to dowith Anakin and Obi-Wan.
Obi-Wan.
I'm trying to remember SinkholePlanet.
Where was that place called?
I think one took place.
Sinkhole Planet, vengeance ofthe Sith.
Where was that place called?
Utapau, utapau, I think it tookplace on Utapau.
(27:59):
Yeah, I think you're right, andit was like you could see from
the artwork they were kind ofhinting that Obi-Wan was
familiar with this place becauseof something that happened Sith
.
But that was one of thebeauties of Clone Wars is that
they could take things we saw inthe movies and for a brief
second, like Felucia.
(28:19):
How many times have we been toFelucia?
Speaker 1 (28:23):
And that's a fan
favorite.
We got to see that in ForceUnleashed.
I think we go to ForceUnleashed.
That's always a fan favorite.
Again, no spoilers.
But one of the mostheartbreaking of the Jedi deaths
(28:44):
takes place on Felucia.
It was just brutal.
This is why I love Star Wars.
This is why it's just Okay.
So season five, coming up veryexcited for this.
Um, like I said, we're gonnasee some big arcs in this, we're
gonna see some major shifts incharacters that we've grown to
(29:10):
love at this up to this point, and we're gonna get.
If you thought your hearts werebroken in season four, just
just prepare yourself for evenmore emotional trauma in season
five.
It just doesn't.
Nothing gets easier.
I I'm between now and seasonseven, nothing, because we're,
we're, we're just slowlyspiraling, you know, spiraling,
(29:34):
spiraling into the fall ofAnakin Skywalker, you know, I
mean, that's what that's whatall of this is is going towards.
We're just circling.
We're circling the drain now,at this point, as we get closer
and closer to revenge of the set.
Um, and it's just not going end.
(29:56):
It's just not a happy place,it's just, it's just not.
And I'm sorry to say that it'sgreat, it's great television,
but we are, we are not going tobe getting any happiness and I
think that's kind of why thisshow has endured as long as it
has a lot of ips.
Speaker 2 (30:13):
Get a cartoon network
limited series.
You know they want to.
You know a popular movie.
I think even the god awfulgreen lantern movie got an
animated spin-off.
I just think it's a spin-off atsome point.
Speaker 1 (30:26):
I recently saw that
it's not that bad it's not it's
not that bad.
Why I don't I?
I mean, some of the CG isgarbage, but it wasn't terrible
it's not.
Speaker 2 (30:42):
The universe likes to
declare certain movies flops
and whatnot.
We've been through that withStar Wars, Disney's.
Obviously everybody lovescalling something a flop if you
want to make yourself look good,if you want to make yourself
look good.
But yeah, the point is, anythingwith a sci-fi IP anymore gets a
spin-off cartoon series to tryto appeal to kids.
Hell, ghostbusters, theoriginal Ghostbusters cartoon.
(31:06):
You watch the original BillMurray movie and then you go.
There's certain scenes whereyou're like you marketed this to
kids.
Dan Aykroyd in a ghost, I won'tsay anything more.
Speaker 1 (31:21):
Oh yeah, there's that
, but I don't know.
Season five it's going to begreat and I am so looking
forward to it, so it's going tobe a good ride, all right, so we
talked about this a little bitat the beginning.
Top five most hated Star Warsfilm and TV characters in the
(31:42):
galaxy.
I have my top five laid out.
Does somebody want to go first?
Or do you want to yell at meabout my top five first?
Speaker 2 (31:52):
I'll defer to the
second half.
Go ahead.
Speaker 1 (31:54):
All right, Tony.
What about you?
You want to go first or youwant to yell at me about my top
five?
Speaker 3 (31:59):
I I'm not gonna yell
too much top five, but I'll let
you play it out all right.
Speaker 1 (32:04):
So, and in no
particular order, these are, me
personally, my top five mosthated star wars characters.
Not even necessarily that Ihate them, because one of them
on this list I don't hate and Iactually love, but it's just a
hated character.
So at the top of my list, general Pong Krell.
(32:28):
General Pong Krell because fuckthat guy.
Speaker 2 (32:32):
Oh all right, and we
saw that on that when we were
reviewing that episode.
He's just yeah, it was abrilliant performance and you
hate his guts.
Speaker 1 (32:43):
You hate his guts.
Hate his guts.
Um.
Number two good old papapalpatine.
Okay, hey, I was, I was gonnago with snoke, but snoke is such
a non-issue, throwawaycharacter that I just I can't
hate him.
He's just, he's just too goofyto hate.
But palpatine, again, he's just.
(33:05):
You almost love to hate him, though you know he is this, but
he's just, he's such a douchelike.
He's just like he's, he's likean internet troll before the
internet existed.
And I feel like, uh, there'sthis, there's this guy that he's
a.
He's like, you know, the posterboy of the fandom menace.
You know we don't say his name, but, um, yeah, fuck that guy.
(33:30):
But I feel like that particularguy, the guy that talks about
all of his star wars theories.
I feel like he.
He likes to pretend that he'sdarth vader, but he's palpatine,
he is 100 palpatine, like, without question.
And so, yeah, palpatine's mynumber two top five most hated
(33:51):
film and tv characters from starwars.
Number three, and this isprobably going to be a hot take
and I'm ready for it.
If you guys want to come at me,come at me For those of you
watching.
If you want to come at me inthe comments.
Let's go, I'm ready for it.
Look Tony's over there crackinghis knuckles.
I'm ready.
Number three most hatedcharacter in Star Wars Anakin
(34:14):
Skywalker Hate that guy hatedcharacter in star wars anakin
skywalker.
Hate that kid.
Anakin skywalker, number threemost hated.
Nothing you can do on that, letme just let me just pause real
quick here.
Speaker 3 (34:28):
Okay, I want to make
sure we're talking about the
character and not the actor, jake, lloyd or christiansen no,
I am always talking about thecharacter, okay I will do that
okay, I will.
Speaker 1 (34:39):
I will never, ever,
ever disparage an actor, ever,
ever, ever, ever, because jakeand and hayden got so much hate
personally.
They got hate personally.
So, no, I will never, ever dothat.
The actors did their jobs.
The actors did what they werepaid to do.
Okay, if, if the, the characterwas garbage, if the dialogue
(34:59):
was garbage, that's not, that'snot the actor's fault.
So I have, I have, nothing butlove and respect for all of the
star wars actors, every singleone of them, all of them.
I have no personal animosity orhatred towards any of them.
In fact, I have more love andrespect for the actors that did
get shit on, for the charactersthat they portrayed.
Speaker 3 (35:21):
Let me be clear.
I already know that that wasgoing to be your answer, but
that's because we've had privateconversations.
I just want to make sure forour audience that they
understand where you're comingfrom.
Speaker 1 (35:28):
Okay, good, like when
Hayden was at.
He was at one of thecelebrations and he came out and
the way that he was greeted bythe crowd and he almost cried,
like you could feel that lovefor him.
That was.
Speaker 2 (35:45):
Anaheim.
I was there, yeah, okay, andthat love was palpable, yeah,
especially when he came out withEwan and the two of them came
out together.
Uh, because again, it was justthe rise of the prequel baby,
and it was just.
It was like everybody, theprequel trilogy is starting to
get their flowers, as the kidslike to say, um, and I feel like
(36:09):
, if you know, john daisy, oscar, if you, you know, your time
will come in a few years.
I feel like where, once theinternet trolls like, move on to
the next thing to harass thatthe people that love the sequel
trilogy will come out in forceand really build up the fact
that, yeah, there were peoplethat liked this movie.
They just don't have that guy'sfollowing.
Speaker 1 (36:31):
And you know, and
I'll tell you, with the sequels,
they were okay for me.
I didn't hate them.
I'm not going to shit on thesequels, they weren't my
favorite of all the films, but Ithink every single one of these
new actors like you said, daisy, john, oscar they all did an
(36:51):
amazing job.
They all did an amazing job.
They did as good or better thanthe original trilogy cast, than
the prequel trilogy cast.
Now, maybe we didn't like thestoryline, maybe we didn't like
Luke throwing his lightsaberover his shoulder or whatever.
We're going to get to that, ifI don't forget Mara Jade, mara
Jade, don't let me forget MaraJade.
(37:12):
I want to talk about Mara Jade, don't let me forget.
Okay, jade, don't let me forget.
Mara jade, I want to talk aboutmara jade, don't let me forget,
okay.
So all of the actors have, Ithink, done extraordinary uh
work.
And is it oscar winningperformances?
No, not at all, but is it atleast on par or better than the
star wars standard 100?
(37:33):
So, to all the star Wars actorsout there, we love you, we
appreciate you and and thank you, thank you for bringing these
characters to us that we hate, like Anakin Skywalker.
So, so, anakin Skywalker, Ihave many reasons to hate Anakin
Skywalker.
I think probably the babymurder is the, the child murder
(37:55):
is probably the biggest.
But also he was just such awhiny twit in the films and I
just was oh God, you're killingme.
But our Lord and Savior Davedid redeem young Skywalker in
the Clone Wars, so I'm happyabout that still and an ahsoka
(38:17):
like and an ahsoka yeah haydenwas bawling in that show and he
was just a ghost he was just aghost, right?
so yeah, he was.
Yeah, he definitely brought himback.
But but again, that's daveputting the clone wars anakin
spin on it and that's.
You know, that wasn't my anakin, but it became my anakin.
(38:41):
My anakin, um, you know, Ithink my anakin was, you know,
the, the, the prequel trilogyand then the micro series, but
clone wars anakin.
Maybe maybe I need to prefacethis and say I'm, I'm cool with
clone wars anakin.
Maybe maybe I need to prefacethis and say I'm, I'm cool with
clone wars anakin.
All right, I'm gonna have to.
I'll have to amend my hatredfor the anakin skywalker
(39:04):
character and I'll just say youhated.
What he became is what you'resaying uh, yeah, I I did, but
again it's not, and we we'vecome to understand that it's not
his fault.
You know, anakin was absolutelyshaped by the Jedi and
Palpatine.
He was a tool that was used.
(39:24):
He was basically the kid inbetween, stuck in between the
divorced parents, basically, youknow.
So he he never had theopportunity to really come into
himself and become the man orthe jedi that he probably could
have been.
So but anyway, for me, anakinskywalker, we'll say episode two
(39:46):
and three, anakin skywalker, because episode one, you know,
he's a baby, he's a little kidand he was a badass.
Anakin skywalker in phantommenace was a fucking hardcore
badass, like I mean, for beingnine.
What nine years old, I thinkwas his age yeah so that's my
number three most hated.
(40:06):
Number four most hated mothgideon, oh and played.
Speaker 2 (40:13):
So well, that was
played very well well evil.
That was that guy was.
He was good he really.
Speaker 1 (40:20):
I mean, you know he
he's cool.
I mean he's just super cool,super smooth.
You know, um, and what was it?
Uh, I can't remember theactor's name, esposito right,
(40:44):
how cool is he?
I mean he's just like.
He's just freaky smooth.
I mean he's like he's likebilly d williams level smooth,
but but chilling.
He's like the.
He's like the dark side versionof billy d, because he's just
chilling.
Every character he does is likethere's no warmth there.
I'm just like like this guy andmoff gideon, what a dick like,
(41:04):
what a freaking dick that guywas.
And he, he like he co-optedmandorian culture and the armor
and it's just like, dude, yousuck, you suck.
And he was kind of a Nancy boy.
I mean he really wasn't eventhat good.
(41:26):
I mean he can't fight.
It was just the armor thatreally gave him the ups that he
needed.
But other than that he's a punk, he's a little Nancy boy.
So, no, I'm off Gideon.
And then, finally, number five, most hated character in Star
(41:50):
Wars film and television, andnot for the reasons that you may
think Jar Jar Binks, jar Jarfilm and television and not for
the reasons that you may thinkjar, jar, binks jar jar binks is
the secret sith lord is thesecret sith lord, and so I don't
hate jar jar binks.
I think for the reason that manypeople hated jar jar binks
(42:11):
because he was a goofball andyou know whatever he made me
laugh, that's fine.
But I hate jar jar binksbecause he was a goofball and
you know whatever he made melaugh, that's fine.
But I hate jar jar binksbecause of the of the missed
potential, of the missedopportunities, because we never
get to see him grow to his fullsith potential, and that's what
(42:33):
and that's what I hate about itis that you had me go.
Speaker 2 (42:36):
I was like, okay,
yeah, there's some room for
growth from jar jar's emotionaldepth.
And then you go right into thelego like dark jar.
Speaker 1 (42:43):
I was like no, no, it
was he he had.
He had all these things in thepalms of his hands and he just
just fitted it all the way, ordid he?
Or did he?
Maybe it's still part of hisplan.
Maybe we're gonna see thislater on.
Now he's just laying low, butanyway, those are my top five.
(43:05):
Those are my top five mosthated characters.
Now there's I have others fromthe the eu and in the books and
things like that, but this isjust for films and television,
because I could talk about otherpeople.
I was gonna I was gonna putthrawn on this list, but I don't
hate thrawn.
I really I dig that guy, like I.
He's uh, he's creepy and he'ssmarmy, but uh, I kind of admire
(43:31):
him he has his own army.
Speaker 2 (43:33):
He's got his own army
.
He's got his own army.
Speaker 1 (43:35):
He's got his own army
, and not only does he have his
own army, but they're verycrafty, they're very skilled.
They were able to put theirarmor pieces back together.
They made some really coolRoman masks out of them.
I mean, you're stranded for 30years, so I suppose you got
nothing else to do but learn howto do armor arts and crafts.
Speaker 2 (44:01):
So they were just
kind of having armor parties all
the time.
I guess I I know enough guysfrom the 501st that like as soon
as I saw all those taped uparmor piece, I was like, okay,
like jay, if you're watching, like brother, my brother jay
could give like a master classand patching up gear on the fly
to those guys like how many, howmany tks out there like have
have had to buy new pieces oryou know, like use the, you know
(44:22):
the plastic solder to to puttheir pieces back together.
Speaker 1 (44:27):
And then they see
this and they're like wait, what
, what?
Speaker 2 (44:31):
I'm sure.
Yeah, I haven't really lookedit up.
I I kind of keep tabs on theold legions and stuff, but as
soon as those guys showed up myfirst thought was, oh yeah, the
CLR, for this is going to beridiculous.
You've got to make it lookbattle-worn and patched up, but
professional looking battle-wornand patched up.
(44:51):
I pity some of these poor guysthat have to emulate these
costumes.
Speaker 1 (44:56):
You guys.
Who wants to go next?
Top five most hated characters.
Tony, what you got.
Speaker 3 (45:04):
Sure, I'll go.
We share a couple of them, namely Jar Jar and Palpatine Jar
Jar.
For similar reasons, I'm notgoing to go so far down into the
Sith Lord Jar Jar and PalpatineJar Jar.
For similar reasons, I'm notgoing to go so far down into the
Sith Lord Jar Jar bit.
But I will say that I'm all forthe comic relief, but I want a
(45:27):
character to be more than that.
All right, at least in themovies he was never more than
that.
I think I've been the mosttolerant of his character so far
in the episodes that we've seenhim in in Clone Wars, because
there have been some times wherethey've tried to develop the
character a little bit, and soI'm willing to work with that.
(45:49):
Palpatine, just straight up,his entire character was
basically wanting millions ofslaves and then basically had a
genocide.
I'm sorry you're on the hatelist, that's all there is to it
(46:12):
that whole genocide thing willget you there.
Speaker 1 (46:14):
Yeah, yeah, that's
definitely.
Speaker 3 (46:14):
No, I'm not coming
back from that that whole
genocide thing will get youthere.
Yeah, yeah, that's definitelycoming back from that.
I will say a lot.
You mentioned it with one ofyour entries.
For me, a lot of my people onthis list are people that it's
about what they aren't asopposed to what they are.
And so for me, uh, snoke is onmy list because, you know, like
(46:39):
the neutral, the latest trilogytried to establish him as the
big bad and then just nothinghappened with him, like just
just flopped, like he.
He didn't even like have afight where he lost, he just
boom done and no explanation.
Speaker 1 (46:55):
No, no kind of, no
one's even tried to.
Speaker 3 (46:57):
I mean, there's no
backstory, there's just nothing
for him yeah and and yeah andthat's it just didn't work for
me.
I just I didn't see the pointof the character at all.
Um, then I will say this isprobably where I would get a
(47:20):
little, a bit of uh oh, you gota hot take negativity.
All right, all right, you knowwhat?
Let me wait, you're even holy,I will.
You're gonna see, don't sayprincess leia.
If you say princess leia, thenyeah it's a You're even Holy
shit, tony, I will Don't sayPrincess Leia.
Speaker 1 (47:39):
If you say Princess
Leia, then yeah, it's a wrap.
The internet's coming to you.
Speaker 3 (47:45):
No, no, no.
Let me go to the easy one.
First, zero.
Speaker 2 (47:54):
I'm sorry, zero is
just annoying as fuck and I just
can't yeah, if it makes youfeel better, we're not going to
hear from him again yeah, we sawwhat happened to him already
yeah.
so it's like it was the kind ofthing where, cause I had them on
(48:18):
my list at first, I was kind ofscratching.
When we talked about thisbefore the show I was like, oh
shoot, I'm just like rattlingthrough my head.
Zero was just one of those guys.
It's like I know you wanted todo a different job and you
wanted to do kind of like a.
I've heard a Truman Capote kindof like yeah, it's just great,
adani, after a while.
Speaker 1 (48:38):
The voice and the
manner it's just like he's one
of those like when, when he gotclipped, I heard Jack
Nicholson's Joker in my head.
I'm glad you're dead.
Glad you're dead, yeah allright, that's.
Speaker 3 (48:53):
That's a good one,
tony, here we go.
Oh, all right time, that's agood one, tony, here we go.
Speaker 1 (48:58):
Uh-oh, all right, not
take time, let's go, let's go.
Speaker 3 (49:02):
I'm sorry but Mace,
all right, we're done here.
Speaker 1 (49:07):
I'm with you.
What do you mean?
You're with him, what?
Speaker 3 (49:10):
do you mean?
The problem with Mace is he isthe epitome of the arrogance of
the council.
Speaker 2 (49:19):
Preach, brother
Preach.
Speaker 3 (49:23):
And, to be fair, he
was always a good character.
He wasn't arrogant to the pointof doing shit on the downside
or anything else, but hisarrogance, his dismissal of
Anakin is a large part of whatled to his down downfall.
Speaker 2 (49:41):
Oh, I wouldn't you're
.
You're gonna love the lastseason I wouldn't go that far.
Speaker 1 (49:46):
I mace was.
Mace, I think, represented thestrength of the jedi.
You know that, that, thatstrong composure that they
needed.
You know he was.
He was kind of like that, the, the, you know the, the
counterbalance to yoda.
Yoda was a little morecompassionate, a little it's
like good, like you know, you'vegot like your, your good boss
(50:09):
and then your assholemicromanager boss, and you know
mace was kind of that, but hewas tales of the jedi really
sold it for me.
Speaker 2 (50:18):
Well that in the last
season, you know dooku and mace
, mace sucked up to the council.
He, he played by the book, hedid what the council said to the
letter and he got promoted.
And yeah, he was sitting theregoing what the f?
Speaker 1 (50:33):
oh, that's because
dooku didn't want to abide by
the the, the orders of the jedi.
I mean, you've got to haveorder in the galaxy, yeah but
they wouldn't have.
Speaker 2 (50:45):
Do you think mace
windu would have solved that
murder if dooku hadn't pushed?
Yes, absolutely, absolutely youthink he would?
I think he would have boughtthe story, just recovered the
body and went back to coruscantand just sort of accepted the
status quo.
That was basically his problemwas that he accepted the status
quo he upheld law and order.
Speaker 1 (51:08):
And look at, he
became a great jedi master.
And what happened to dooku?
Dooku fell to the dark side, got manipulated by palpatine and
then got his head chopped offby a baby killer.
So I mean, and really, and theonly reason that mace who is not
dead, by the way the onlyreason that street pizza no, no,
(51:31):
come on, jedi.
Jedi, don't get hurt when theyfall.
When have you ever seen a jediget hurt while falling?
Never, never.
We've never seen that.
I mean shit.
Luke fell down that shaft andused his minimal understanding
of the force to put himself intoa tube.
Come on, mace.
Mace is good.
If anything, mace landed on ataxi cab or something and he's
(51:55):
still out.
Speaker 2 (51:56):
It was his best bet
on me, as much as I'm saying
mace landed on a taxi cab orsomething and you know he's,
he's still out like this is thething.
Speaker 3 (51:58):
As much as I'm saying
as much, yeah, even though I've
got him on this list, if he, ifthey decide to bring him back
and say he did survive that andwe get to see a redemption arc
from him, okay, cool I'm all forit.
Speaker 1 (52:11):
What redemption?
He doesn't need to be redeemed.
He's good.
If he's dead, he's earned hisblue force ghost.
He's good and he needs dead.
He's earned his blue forceghost.
He's good and he needs to kickAnakin off the force.
Speaker 3 (52:20):
I'm not saying he's
bad versus good, I don't mean it
that way, but just.
I went to Tony for somebody whois as high up on the Jedi
Council as he is to be soarrogant and be completely
blindsided by Palpatine'smechanisms.
Speaker 2 (52:45):
I mean Yoda had
suspicions.
Speaker 1 (52:47):
Well, they both did,
I mean they both had, did he
Well, when they were burying, when they were burning Qui-Gon?
You know they were, you knowhim and him and Mace Yoda and
Mace were talking about.
Speaker 2 (52:59):
I mean, he didn't
even really fully trust Anakin
because, like you think, revengeof the Sith, you know, he looks
at Obi-Wan and says, you know, but they're talking about him
being the part of the prophecyhe goes.
So the prophecy says, like hewas already thinking Anakin.
Speaker 1 (53:11):
But look at what
happened.
He was right, mace was right.
He's like I don't trust him, Idon't trust the boy.
He was right.
Look what happened.
Look what happened, yeah lookwhat happened.
Speaker 2 (53:29):
Him and his whole
SWAT team went to go arrest
Palpatine and got slaughtered.
He got his hand cut off becausehe couldn't say Anakin, I
appreciate you coming to me withthis information.
Yeah, he did, and he said Itrust you, I appreciate you
coming to me with thisinformation.
Speaker 1 (53:36):
Yeah, he did and he
said I appreciate it, no, no.
But he said, stay here andwe'll like, because he didn't
trust the boy enough to take itand the boy chopped his hand off
and got him pushed out a window.
So again, mace was right.
Speaker 3 (53:53):
the whole time.
There's a phrase, and I don'tremember the exact wording of
the phrasing, but there's aphrase about you know you meet
your destiny on the path youtake to avoid it.
And at the end of the day, thisis what happened to Mace.
He refused to accept thatAnakin was the Chosen One.
He did everything in his pathto distrust him and, as a result
(54:17):
of that, led him right intoPalpatine's arms.
Speaker 1 (54:21):
No, there was a lot
of things that led him.
It wasn't.
You can't pin that on Mace.
Speaker 3 (54:25):
You can't pin that on
Mace Not purely on Mace, but as
one of the highest rankingmembers of the council, as the
most outspoken against Anakin.
It falls on him more thananybody else against Anakin it
falls on him more than anybodyelse.
Speaker 2 (54:38):
Fair enough, and we
got some feedback that kind of
agree, like you know.
Speaker 1 (54:41):
We got Hockey Chick.
Hockey, chick 1138.
She jumps in and she says hertop five, boba Fett, fight me.
So, top five hated characters.
Her number five is Boba Fettand she's ready to die on that
hill, all right, darth Vader, which could be Anakin Skywalker.
Number five is boba fett andshe's ready to die on that hill,
all right, uh, darth vader, which could be anakin skywalker.
Speaker 2 (54:59):
So well, we could.
Speaker 1 (55:01):
We could debate that
too.
We could, because I remember II don't hate darth vader.
Speaker 2 (55:06):
Darth vader wasn't
with anakin skywalker was I'm
talking youngling killing, because by then he was referring
to himself as he was yeah thatcould be the.
Yeah, that's where the yeah, look at me.
Speaker 1 (55:17):
And she says preach.
She said hockey chick, come on,give him hell.
Snips, moff, gideon andpalpatine, all right.
So we all, I think we all kindof share.
We share similar, uh, similarlists here.
Mace, y'all are killing me withme.
Crash, what's your list?
Okay, are we going to bed now?
(55:38):
I'm, I'm just okay.
Speaker 2 (55:43):
Um, I was adjusting
mine because, as you guys were
like, I was trying to stick moreto the, the movies and tv.
I had a few in the eu that Iwas like oh, there's just no,
this is movies and TV.
Only there's one I kept becauseI'll get into it in a second.
Number five Alia Kane from theMandalorian Moff.
Speaker 3 (56:04):
Gideon's little
switch.
Speaker 2 (56:07):
I'm saying this with
love.
Katie O'Brien I haven't met her, but I've heard so many stories
that she is the sweetest personinteracting with the fans.
Again not to act with the fans.
Her character you just want towhen she completely sabotaged
that guy.
Dr, Pershing Pershing to thenew public and watched him get
(56:28):
his mind fried.
Speaker 1 (56:32):
She turned his shit
up to 11.
Speaker 2 (56:35):
Yeah, a mile on her
face.
Speaker 1 (56:38):
yeah, I was like f
that chick she gave my boy some
imperial biscuits and then, andthen mind wiped him.
Yeah, that's a good call, crash, thank you.
But yeah, the actress.
Again, we're not talking aboutthe actress.
If I ever get to meet her, I'mgonna.
Speaker 2 (56:55):
You know, I'm looking
forward to meeting her because
she played that character sowell.
It's kind of like sam whitworthwhen he plays villains.
You know, I I bet it's alwayslike when you were on supergirl
I loved hating you.
You good acting wise.
This is great.
Speaker 1 (57:08):
Good actors make
great villains just very true,
and I can't.
I can't imagine what that wouldbe like.
I mean, I mean, some people saythat playing a villain is fun.
Others say that it's hard.
It's hard to come out.
I think Heath Ledger said thathe had a really difficult time
getting the Joker out of hishead.
Some people have a good timewith it.
I can't imagine.
That's why I have a lot ofrespect for actors.
(57:28):
I couldn't do it.
I couldn't do it.
All right, please continue.
Speaker 2 (57:30):
That's my second one,
again from the micro series.
I've talked about this beforeJell-O, mold man, the bounty
hunter, durge oh Durge.
Like what was the point of thatguy First?
You want to make him Boba Fetton steroids in his suit.
(57:51):
And Iron man meets Boba Fett.
I was like I'll roll with that.
Okay, fine, everybody needs atank character to like yeah, but
then this whole, like he is theJell-O mold, obi-wan slices him
with a lightsaber.
Oh, I self regenerate becauseI've got plot armor.
Speaker 1 (58:09):
He got a little
tentacle rapey too.
Speaker 2 (58:11):
He was like yeah
creepy and like you, suck
Obi-Wan in with the into theJell-O.
Speaker 1 (58:16):
I was like you have
to admit though that was pretty
fucking dope that he blew him upfrom the inside, and he's not
dead.
He's still around.
They're just still out there.
Speaker 2 (58:29):
Will we ever see him
again?
Who knows?
Who knows?
I hope so.
I'm glad they didn't bring himinto the Clone Wars.
Honestly, I'm really I thinkI'm glad they didn't bring him
into the Clone Wars.
Honestly.
He'd have been too much Savage.
Opress was a great brute.
You kind of need a big muscleguy odd job Jaws from James Bond
Every once in a while.
You just need a guy who's justa big dude.
That's bad.
Speaker 1 (58:50):
Yeah, that's the
mid-level boss.
Speaker 2 (58:58):
Yeah, durge was
trying to be too many things in
different directions and I neverliked him.
Scratched off a couple that Idon't want to get away.
Get a little Tony cover yours.
Gar Saxon from Rebels yeah, fthat guy.
We'll find out later when wetalk about Rebels about him.
But he's sort of in the MoffGideon role where he sort of
(59:22):
embraced the Empire and pervertsthe Mandalorian culture to a
degree and we'll see hints ofthis in later seasons of Clone
Wars.
But coming up, just rememberGar Saxon equals dick.
Speaker 1 (59:36):
I'll tell you what.
If I was forced to take one ofthem to the barbecue, I would
probably take Moff Gideon overGar Saxon.
Yeah, that's fair, and Gideonis just ugh.
But man, yeah, fuck that.
And because he's a Mandaloriantoo, that makes it even worse.
Speaker 2 (59:56):
And it was great
because again he was played by
oh Rey and Stevenson.
That's right, because we nevergot to meet him and the guy that
played Varanus, who playsanother character we'll get into
on Rebels.
Speaker 1 (01:00:14):
Rey Stevenson what a
guy.
Speaker 2 (01:00:16):
Rey Stevenson gave a
great performance as a really
bad dude.
My next one is from SequelTrilogy DJ the con man, the
slicer, the.
Everybody thought he was goingto be a giveable rogue like Han
Solo or Lando and when themoment came, he just flipped.
It took poor Finn and Rose'smedallion and he had that moment
(01:00:43):
where you're like, oh, is hegoing to be a nice guy?
He gave the medallion back andwhen the chips were down he was
out.
Speaker 1 (01:00:49):
Definitely someone
you want to kick in the nuts.
Speaker 2 (01:00:51):
Yeah, my last one,
and again I saved my hot take up
in scribbling.
Speaker 1 (01:00:57):
I have a couple that
I crossed out.
Speaker 2 (01:00:59):
I don't want to give
too much away for Tony's sake,
but this one, cad effin' BaneHated.
I'll tell you I love to hatehim.
Speaker 1 (01:01:11):
It's a respectful
hate Because don't disparage my
Cad Bane, the greatest bountyhunter in the galaxy bar none.
Even now there's respectful.
Speaker 2 (01:01:16):
I hate because don't
disparage my cad bane, the
greatest bounty hunter in thegalaxy, bar none but I mean,
even now, like, like there'sstuff that we'll see him do
later in life that you justthink, okay, if he's this, he's
been doing this his whole careerto people and you're just like,
he's just the lowest of the lowand the best of the best bounty
hunter but we have.
Speaker 1 (01:01:33):
We have seen him be
compassionate.
Speaker 2 (01:01:38):
A little bit, a
little bit In his own way, for
the right price.
Speaker 1 (01:01:42):
But that compassion,
yeah, that compassion serves him
.
It served him to becompassionate.
Speaker 2 (01:01:47):
I mean he sent his
own droid off as a suicide
bomber, you know.
Speaker 1 (01:01:52):
Yeah, that was rough
man, Poor Toto.
He'll be all right, he'll befine.
Put some dirt, be all right,he'll be fine.
Little little little oil, little tussling, you'll be all
right so that's two, two, three.
Speaker 2 (01:02:06):
Yeah, I only hit well
.
Okay, five against accent.
Speaker 1 (01:02:08):
Yeah, that's my five
all right, that's good, that's
good.
I had an honorable mention inhondo, but I just love h Hondo.
I can't hate Hondo.
You do kind of hate Hondo, buthe's just so lovable at the same
time.
Speaker 2 (01:02:24):
And, to be fair,
we're going to see shifts in
that this season on Clubhouse.
Speaker 1 (01:02:28):
Oh yeah, we get some
good Hondo in this.
Speaker 2 (01:02:30):
There's good Hondo
and then there's good bad Hondo,
and then there's good Hondo andthen there's bad.
Speaker 1 (01:02:35):
Hondo I don't mean
like good in terms of alignment,
I'm saying we're going to begetting some good Hondo action.
If you're a Hondo fan, seasonfive is definitely going to be a
good ride for you.
Speaker 3 (01:02:46):
Tony, you're going to
say something?
Yeah, I wanted to check withyou guys because he didn't make
my top five, but he probablywould have made my top 10.
So I'm curious as to where hewould rank on your list.
Okay, god, who?
John?
Speaker 1 (01:03:07):
oh, oh, that's.
Oh, yeah, that's a great point,I would put him.
That's a great point, I wouldput him.
I'd put him on my top 10.
I think I might put him maybesix.
I put it, he's.
He's up there because man, ohno, man, that's a great point.
Maybe a little bit higherbecause he, he was an asshole to
(01:03:30):
children and I just can't abidethat.
You know, I can't.
He held.
He held a knife to a kid'sthroat, you know, and it's like,
yeah, we might have to knockjar jar off my list and replace
him with john.
Yeah, that's a good point.
Yeah, fuck that guy.
It's like that guy.
But I want to know more abouthim.
(01:03:51):
I am compelled, I.
I want to know so much moreabout it.
Speaker 3 (01:03:54):
I want to see I think
that's why he's not on my list.
List for top five is becauseit's just one of those.
I don't have his full story yetand I kind of want to see that
before I get rid of him.
Speaker 2 (01:04:06):
Well, we know of him,
came from him.
So you wonder how much of thatis slanted.
I mean, the guy has like sixaliases already.
You know what's crimson jack'sbackstory, what's jarnar woods
story?
You know what reputation doeshe have around the galaxy.
That people, if you went into acantina and said you know
crimson jack here, you knowpeople would look at you like oh
(01:04:27):
, you hang out with that guy Idon't think.
Speaker 1 (01:04:29):
I think he's just
universally unliked.
I don't think anyone has beenlike, hey, it's crimson jack,
what's up, my guy I mean no one,no one has really welcomed him
with open arms.
So I really do hope that we'regoing to see more of that,
because, uh it, this is maybe ahot take to best best show on
(01:04:51):
star wars tv skeleton crew barnone.
As much as I love rebels, asmuch as I love the clone wars
skeleton crew just hits all my,all my nostalgia markers, like
all of them.
So, all right, those were goodlists, boys, I like those.
I think we need to do more ofthat, do some more top fives,
just to kind of sprinkle theminto the end of the show maybe
(01:05:14):
give me more than 10 minuteshead start on what we're talking
about no, no, no.
So all right, we'll.
We'll do a little more prep fornext week okay that way we can
get our, get our top fives.
But you handle it, even withlike little notice, you handle
it.
You did a good job.
Well, this is good stuff, allright, so that's going to do it
for us this week.
Thank you for joining us nextweek.
(01:05:36):
Your homework season five, episode two, three, four, five.
We're going to revisit one, butlater on in the season.
So we're starting off withepisode two, three, four, five,
that first arc, um, becauseepisode one fits into another
arc later on in in season.
So that's your homework fornext week.
(01:05:58):
And now, unless you guys haveanything else, we'll do the
obligatory pimping.
Speaker 2 (01:06:05):
Merch, that man.
Speaker 1 (01:06:06):
Go for it.
All right, we got to do theobligatory pimpage.
So if you would like to getyourself some really cool merch,
my brain just rebo rebooted,apparently.
So star wars, safe space merchhead on over to our website
circle of nerdscom, slash merchand you can get your uh,
(01:06:28):

Let the world know that you area little swarzy curious and, uh
, that you like what we do andwe appreciate it, because any,
any money that we actually makeoff that just goes right back
into the show.
(01:06:49):
So you're helping us out toimprove the show and get lights
and things and whatever.
And, you know, maybe someday wedon't have to work the day job.
Speaker 2 (01:06:57):
I guess we should.
We tell them a little bit aboutmy new project.
Yeah, absolutely.
One of the things we weretalking about in the off season
is, since I'm you know, me andthe part of my flyer here we're
off traveling.
Sometimes I miss an episode ortwo.
I'm going to start recordingfrom the road and maybe offer
(01:07:20):
some travel con life tips.
Uh, awesome, if there's anystar wars guests in the area,
maybe give you a heads up wherethey are.
Uh, but just sort of tips fromthe road of rick steves of the
galaxy far, far away, as I kindof pitched it so we need to give
you like a cool star wars namebased off rick steves I I only
crash the
Speaker 1 (01:07:39):
flyer, you know
cricks streves, crashes corner.
I love it.
I love it.
That's, uh, where's my?
I don't, I don't have all right.
Crashes corner, absolutely onthat.
Um.
So, yeah, get all the merch andabsolutely do follow us on
(01:07:59):
social media at the SWS show, ifyou'd like.
We're going to be kind oframping things back up a little
bit.
You know, things have been kindof like things have been crazy
Darth Real Life has been no jokerecently.
So we're're gonna start gettingstuff back on track.
So follow us on all the socials.
(01:08:20):
We are probably more active.
I think I'd we'd say on what?
Tiktok?
I think we do more action ontiktok.
And then, uh, we're, you know, growing our, um, our community a
little bit more in our facebookgroup.
So, again, look for ourfacebook group.
It is called swirzy.
Curious, it is a private groupbecause we want to keep it
non-toxic, low sodium, so we'renot just letting anybody in.
(01:08:41):
So if you want to join and youwant a just a really nice,
comfortable place to enjoy starwars with like-minded people, um
, our facebook group is thatplace for you.
So, uh, jump in.
Make sure you answer thequestions.
No one's getting in unless theyanswer the questions.
So you guys like, invited like57 people, and I think four of
(01:09:02):
them answered the questions.
Everybody else is just sittingin the box just waiting we'll
get them there.
Speaker 2 (01:09:08):
We're slowly building
the fleet, yeah that's fine.
Speaker 1 (01:09:10):
I'd rather have a
really small circle of
like-minded people than like afucking group full of thousands
of people and you're gonna getassholes in there and I, who has
time for that?
I don't have time to monitorall that.
There's no, there's no way, allright.
So that is going to do it forus this week.
So again next week.
Homework episodes two throughfive of season five of the clone
(01:09:34):
wars um, keep tissues handybecause, uh, you're gonna get a
little choked up uh, I want tothank our our contributor this
week.
Hockey chick 1138 um thank youso much is 1138.
Speaker 3 (01:09:57):
Is that that's's?
Speaker 1 (01:09:58):
a Star Wars.
That's a reference.
Look at hockey, chick, mixingStar Wars and sports.
What?
All right?
Go ahead.

That was good, all right.
