SPEAKER_00 (00:00):
Hello everyone.
This is Still Roses Podcast.
This podcast was created forwomen by women to elevate
women's voices.
I hope you all are having awonderful week.
Continuing on with our themehere, I'm gonna read another
expert excerpt from my anthologybook that was just recently
published this year, um, orearlier this year.
The book is called Unleash Her.
The next chapter begins.
(00:21):
It's book number two in theseries.
I'm featured in this book with21 other authors, everyone
sharing their story, all womenempowering.
And really, the premise of thebook was for people to be able
to break away from the chainsand from everything that is
holding them down.
(00:42):
The introduction of the bookreads, There comes a moment in
every woman's life when shefeels the quiet nudge or the
loud roar that it's time forsomething more, more truth, more
freedom, and more courage, moreher.
Unleash her.
The next chapter begins, wasborn from that moment.
It's for the women who it's forthe woman who's tired of dimming
her light, second guessing herinstincts, and living by someone
(01:04):
else's script.
It's for the woman who knowsdeep down that she was made for
more and is finally ready toclaim it.
This book is not here to tellyou who to be.
It's here to remind you who youalready are.
Within these pages, you'll findreal stories from women who
chose to rise, sometimestrembling, often uncertain, but
always determined.
You'll discover powerfulinsights and practical tools to
(01:25):
help you silence the noise, break through barriers, and
reconnect with the fiercestrength that's always been
within you.
But most importantly, you'llbegin to write your next
chapter, not out of fear orpressure, but from power,
clarity, and truth.
You don't need to be perfect, you don't need permission, you
just need to begin.
So let this be your moment, letthis be your declaration, turn
(01:46):
the page and unleash her.
Then you are launched into achapter.
Every chapter has a differentauthor, and every author shares
their story, and it is the mostbeautiful thing I've ever been
able to be a part of.
So I'm gonna read an excerptfrom my chapter, and then I'll
discuss a little bit about itmyself.
Um current day, Jenny.
Um, this my chapters and mystory um begins back in 2021,
(02:11):
and it basically brings youthrough how I got to Still Roses
podcast.
Now, there's been a lot sincethe launch of the podcast, um,
but that's what this beginningstory is, is really how the
launch happened.
So I'm just gonna read a smallexcerpt from a little further
into my chapter.
Imposter syndrome is incrediblycommon for women to experience
(02:31):
across all aspects of our lives.
And becoming a homeowner was forme a hot zone of doubt.
I knew that the anxiety I wasexperiencing wasn't real, and
thus every night I would engagein the dance of talking myself
down from the ledge.
By the light of day, myconfidence would be somewhat
restored, and my anxiety wouldrefocus its attention to my
daytime job.
I held a position where I hadthe opportunity to lead by
(02:53):
example and could put to use allof the lessons, good and bad,
learned by my previous managers.
The part of this excerpt that Iwanted to highlight is the
imposter syndrome part.
I wanted to highlight thisbecause I experience imposter
syndrome every single day.
And it has to be the mostfrustrating thing I've
(03:14):
experienced because it'scompletely self-inflicted.
It is not really doesn't haveanything to do with anything
real.
And it's truly just my mindrunning away with itself.
Every and I I am notexaggerating.
Every single night there is adifferent area for me to obsess
about and feel like I'm afailure or that I'm quite
literally an imposter and peopleare gonna figure me out.
(03:37):
This is not limited to my job.
It's not limited to me as amother or a wife.
It's literally every topic is upfor game and it's whatever my
anxiety is deciding to focus onfor the moment.
Now I've gotten quite good atidentifying that it's nonsense.
And each night, but each nightit happens and it's like raging
out of control, but I have somesense of this isn't real.
(03:59):
Just stop thinking about it.
And so I've trained my mind in away to yes, acknowledge I am
freaked out.
I am scared, I feel a little inover my head, but I'm not quite
over my head.
I do know what I'm doing.
And then I just let it go.
I know that sounds a littlesimple.
And I think imposter syndrome, Ido want to talk a little bit
more.
(04:19):
It's really just self-doubt.
So if you're in the eveningtrying to fall asleep and you're
tossing and turning becauseyou're rehashing a scenario over
and over again in your head, that is essentially like you
beating yourself up and tryingto tell yourself whatever you
did was not good enough.
Well, one that's stealing yourpiece for the evening.
What's done is done.
Hindsight is not, you know, youcan't do anything from what
(04:41):
happened today, 10 years.
You cannot do anything to changethat.
All you can do is look ahead.
Now, if you're in the eveningshaving situations where mentally
in your head, you start to godown a path of, I don't know
what I'm doing.
I need an adult, like I need a,I need an expert to come in and
talk to me about this.
I need someone else to help me.
I need someone else to step inand do these things for me.
And the reality of it is youdon't.
(05:04):
If you have been gifted with theresponsibility, then that means
that you have shown and provenyourself and worked to get that
responsibility.
And that means that people whoare experts have said, you know
what, you actually can take onthis responsibility.
And you know what?
Even if you are a littleunprepared for it, you can
(05:26):
become prepared for thatresponsibility.
So it's not anything that'scompletely unfathomable out of
reach.
And that's really the keymessage that I want to deliver
for you.
If you are feeling uneasy abouta situation, if you are feeling
like, you know what, I don'tthink I can handle this or I'm
not really sure what I'm doing, that's okay.
All of us feel like that.
But the secret is to continuemoving forward.
(05:48):
And if you do truly feel likeinsecure or unbalanced about
something that you're workingon, if it's a professional
thing, even if it's a personalthing, then do some legwork, do
research, fortify yourself sothat you do have that confidence
to stand up and say, I know whatI'm talking about, and to be
able to have that confidentvoice.
(06:09):
Um, I hope you'll enjoy thisepisode.
I'm doing little quickies, asyou can tell.
No more long forum episodesbecause I think these are a
little bit more digestible.
And I got some great feedback onthe shorter episodes.
So we're gonna continue on here.
