Speaker 1 (00:00):
Everybody.
This is Delrose's podcast.
This podcast was created forwomen, by women, to elevate
women's voices.
You have Jenny with you today,so going hard with these little
thought starters here.
Something that I had shared ona prior episode was my the tug
of war, the internal tug of warI was having with my podcast,
(00:20):
with this podcast, and, to behonest, whether I wanted to
continue doing it or not, I didget a little emotional in the
episode.
But I think that also speaksvery much to how much I care
about this podcast and how muchit's important to me to use my
voice.
So I did commit, I think I saidin our prior episode for the
summer series, I'd really likeit to be three or more episodes,
(00:43):
mini-sodes, a week.
So that's really what I'mcommitting to.
I'm repeating it again because Iwant to be held accountable.
I want to do this.
I really, really want to dothis.
So I'm going to lean in hereNow.
I had I struggled a bit withgetting my guest episodes
recorded and everything, justbecause of my schedule, and I'm
going to start leaning into thatas well.
So that way you have a greatfall series.
(01:04):
But just so you guys know likethis is something that's an
ongoing shift and adjust.
Now, I think it's important tonote that, because I feel like
majority of us think thatsuccess is well, you've achieved
it and it's going to beconsistent.
It's going to stay the same, and life isn't like that.
You know, if you think ofyourself 10 years ago, are you
the same exact person you were?
(01:25):
There's no way you are, becauseyou've gone through things in
the past 10 years that haveimpacted you as a person and it
has shifted how you've thoughtabout things.
When I think about the personthat I was when I was 26 and the
person that I am today at 41,my goodness, what a journey.
I mean it's like the wildestthing to think about and I think
(01:46):
I've said it before too thatlike I can see definitive time
periods of where, who I was inthese different roles, and it
would almost be interesting, ifnot comical, to sit down, all
the versions of jenny that I canthink of in my head like high
school school Jenny, sororityJenny, grammar school Jenny, and
like early 20s Jenny, mid 20sJenny and really sit down and
(02:10):
talk with them.
Like I feel like it would be awild experience to be able to go
back and be like, oh, like, whywould you do this?
You know I digress, but it'sjust something I've been kind of
thinking about.
So my point here is that youknow we all grow and we all
change every single day, and youknow so do the things that we
do, the things that we do everysingle day.
Our jobs will change when wefeel like we've outgrown them.
(02:31):
I've talked about that beforein prior episodes.
My usual MO is about three yearsat any agency, and it's because
I usually get to a point whereI'm like I've grown and this is
it and I'd like to move forwardfrom here.
I'm very fortunate right now,the agency that I'm currently
(02:51):
employed in.
I'm incredibly happy andthrilled to be there and, to be
perfectly frank, this feels likethe final place for me in my
industry.
I see it as a place that hassuch a supportive environment
and has such good people.
It's a tremendous gift and I'mincredibly grateful that I had
someone who journeyed over tothis agency first, because they
pulled me in, and I can neverexpress the amount of gratitude
(03:11):
I have to that person for givingthis gift to me, taking a
couple steps back when I wasthinking through what I was
going to do here with thispodcast.
Part of the hesitation and partof the challenge that I was
starting to encounter was Icurrently have a few hundred
people waiting in the inbox ofthe podcast, interested in being
guests.
Now, for some reason, thisstarted giving me a lot of
(03:33):
anxiety.
Now it's incredibly amazing, tobe perfectly honest with you,
to see the amount of outreachthat is currently happening, but
it's also really overwhelmingbecause it also puts me in a
position of people are reallylooking to me and this is, you
know, people are really wantingto be on this podcast now and I
have to deliver for them.
I have to make sure I'm showingup right, you know, and I need
to make sure that the times thatI have set up for recordings,
(03:55):
that I'm all in and that I'mreally going to be here for
these people that want to be onthe podcast.
And with the way that my jobwas going busy wise the kids
were all really busy in thespring the whole thing just
started giving me really badanxiety and I talked about it
before that.
I was like, all right, do I pullthe plug, what do I do?
And I almost recorded afarewell episode, like it went
that far.
But then I held off because inmy gut, I don't want to let any
(04:19):
of this go, and I referred backto something that I knew a few
years back when I started andI've reminded myself about it a
few times actually since I'vebeen doing this is do it messy,
just do it messy.
You all are still here with meon this journey.
Whether there's intro music, whether there's hiccups in the
audio, whether it's completelypolished, you're all here with
(04:39):
me and you're with me as Ifigure all this out.
And, yes, would it be nice if Icould get every single episode
to perfection or if I couldafford to pay someone to do it
for me.
Like, of course, absolutelythat would be amazing.
And if I could run this thinglike the business that I'd like
to run it 110%.
But the reality that is isthat's not what's happening
right now.
And how can I make this stillwork?
(05:01):
How can I do this podcast andmake it fit?
And the answer is I'm going todo it messy.
I'm going to do this summerseries so so real for all of you
that you're going to get like aload of Jenny every single time
you listen and be like wow, jen, like take it easy.
But it kind of ties into a quotethat I saw that I wanted to
relay over to you guys, and thequote starts it says start in
(05:22):
November, start in your forties.
Start on Friday.
Start at 5 PM, start on the31st start.
The point is people, forexample, where it says start in
November oh, I'm going to startmy diet and exercise routine
January 1st.
I'm going to do it Like this isgoing to be me.
Well, why Like?
Why?
Why wait?
Just do it now, just start now.
(05:43):
Start small.
You know, I talked aboutexercise and wellness on another
episode and I'm going to startlike as messy as I can just to
make sure I'm doing something.
Start now, start in your 40s.
Are you in your 40s and youhave something in the back of
your mind that's nagging at youthat you've always wanted to try
out, but you just haven'treally had the guts to do it.
And really, reality is that'swhat it is.
(06:04):
When I ordered my podcastmicrophone, that took guts, that
took a lot.
That ordering my podcastmicrophone was a big deal for me
.
I was scared.
So just do it, just go, pullthe trigger.
Don't wait until a certain timeto do something.
Just go now and it's going tobe messy and it's going to.
It's going to be crappy butlike who cares, if you look back
.
I'll refer to the chic naturalon YouTube.
(06:25):
Love her channel, love it.
She's vegan, she has healthyfood, it's a lifestyle channel.
She has her own cookbook, herjewelry line.
I love what she does, not justbecause I think she's fantastic,
but I love what she doesbecause she's she's showing up
authentically.
But I can also see the trail ofwhere she started to where she
is now and to me, watchingsomeone like that continue
(06:48):
developing down their path issuch a huge, freaking deal.
Nobody started out polished.
Her very first episodes on herchannel were terrible, terribly
shot, no editing, no music.
You know it might have beenlight music, but you know I'm
saying like it was not reallyglossy.
And now here I am in my secondyear of the podcast and yeah,
(07:13):
like I'm still like havingepisodes where I'm just kind of
throwing things at the wall andhoping it sticks.
But like that I had thesereally amazing episodes.
If you revisit some of theepisodes that were aired this
year, I mean this was like someof the highest rated episodes
aired this past spring Highestrated episodes, for my whole
podcast happened this year.
I think that says a lot aboutthe energy that this podcast is
(07:35):
drawing.
That energy wouldn't exist if Iwasn't just doing it messy.
You have to just go.
So, whatever it is that you arenoodling on, you're like I'd
like to really do this, but I'mnot really sure what to do.
Figure it out and start doingit, and maybe you're not
figuring it out, maybe you juststart.
Do you want to get your realestate license and find an
online course?
There's so much stuff.
Do you want to learn anotherlanguage?
(07:56):
Do you want to start your ownbusiness?
What is something that youreally love, that you'd like to
lean into?
That's going to really inspireyou to continue going once the
going gets tough, just go Likereally.
That's really the key takeawayis just do it.
Hope you enjoyed this littlemini-sode.
