responsibilities on game days, so we don't do shows on
Mondays when the Steelers play Monday Night Football, Thursdays, when
the Steelers play on Thursday Night Football. We just have
too much going on. So get it while you can

We we vibed out here with our new intro song
and everything.

Speaker 3 (02:27):
How we feeling, partner, How we doing?

Speaker 4 (02:29):
Man?

Speaker 5 (02:29):
We feeling electric because it's a beautiful day on a
beautiful Friday, and more importantly, West, it is my mother's birthday.

Speaker 4 (02:36):
Shout out more, shout out my mom. One, shout out
my mom.

Speaker 3 (02:40):
Shout out man.

Speaker 5 (02:41):
All is well, baby, all is well. And I survived
grease Friday the other day, So what yeah, man? Other
than that, I'm good baby, Like in your house.

Speaker 4 (02:50):
I was on the grill. You gotta clean your grill.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
You do you.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
Should get those grease fires.

Speaker 4 (02:57):
Yeah, but it got real real, but I survived. Shout
out to my love wife. You saved me.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
So it's never fun. We had We had a grease
fired our girl when we were in college, almost burnt
the side of the house.

Speaker 4 (03:06):
Like serious.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
Yeah, I don't think any of us got our security
deposits back.

Speaker 4 (03:12):
But you know, what are you gonna do? Hey, man?

Speaker 5 (03:14):
Sacrifices had to be made. Three of the steaks did survive, okay,
the other two? Yeah, So the kids just starving and no, no, no, no,
I'm still actually hungry right now. You got any food
over there?

Speaker 1 (03:25):
Man?

Speaker 3 (03:25):
You know I actually do have some of those Nature
Valley if you want any.

Speaker 2 (03:30):
I got two flavors too. I got peanut and I've
got almonds.

Speaker 5 (03:33):
I tell you a lot of time, man, Wes is
the guy to know. I just sound cool. Wes is
the actual one.

Speaker 2 (03:37):
So here's the let's let's let's do this real quick.
Here's the here's the dilemma. Right is I'm in these
studios from ten to two, right because I you know,
I produced maxim Wolf and then.

Speaker 4 (03:47):
The weirdest time frame bro.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
And I don't want to eat like. I'm not a
huge breakfast in the morning kind of guy.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
I'm a light.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
I'm some toast. You know, I'm a bagel. I'm a
light kind of breakfast guy.

Speaker 5 (03:56):
What do you usually have Hovey Air make for you?
First of all, Oh, I'm sorry, I apologize.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
Yes, my personal assistant at home often makes me toast
with peanut butter. That's the majority of the time. But
you know, I switch it up. Sometimes I just go butter,
Sometimes I go hummus. Sometimes I go guacamole. You avocado
avocados from Mexico.

Speaker 4 (04:19):
Oh, yes, only the finest.

Speaker 2 (04:21):
Only the finest. I'm not a huge like, I'm a
coffee and toast. That's my that's my ideal breakfast. And
then I do like like I'm a big lunch.

Speaker 4 (04:29):
Guy, but it's at lunch.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
It's hard to be a big lunch guy when you're
when you're radio shift is from ten to two.

Speaker 4 (04:35):
Big lunch, a clap, mess, frond be a no dinner.

Speaker 3 (04:38):
And that's the album.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
It's two thirty by the time I get home. If
I eat a bunch at that point, you know, Wifey
wants and the kids. We like to eat around six
because the kids go to bed about seven fifteen, seven thirty. Man,
that just throws everything into flux. So I do always
got that thang on me and buy that thang. I
mean granola bars, peanut butter flavored, almond flavored. I got

(04:59):
cash you to, but I ran out of the ones
that I got.

Speaker 3 (05:04):
I'm telling it's clutch Target Cell.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
Target always has you buy two back, buy two boxes
of the goanola bars, get two free. So I go
two peanut butter boxes, one cash you one a man.

Speaker 3 (05:13):
How you doing well?

Speaker 5 (05:14):
You can't go wrong because the peanut butter are definitely
the most fire. Those are the ones that yes, you
can't go with the peanut butter ones, man, one hundred percent, baby, but.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
You do, uh, you know, variety is the spice of life,
as some might say. So you do gotta throw a
little something now now.

Speaker 5 (05:27):
West Man, I wish we had the camera here because
once again, baby, you are drippy, drippy. But I'm not surprised.
I am not surprised because I know what today is.
It is the penultimate It is the penultimate day.

Speaker 4 (05:38):
To the backyard. Bro. It is all right, so I
know what time you on.

Speaker 5 (05:41):
But I just want to compliment you the way that
you got these colors flowing, the way that them kicks.

Speaker 6 (05:47):
Man.

Speaker 4 (05:47):
You I just keeep what you're putting down.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
Dress up one time. I mean you are always the flyer.

Speaker 5 (05:53):
I just want to let you know. I'm that does
not go that does not go unnoticed. All right, thank you.
I respect the head out of it here. I see
the sicks too. It's all about the details, man, come on,
come on.

Speaker 3 (06:03):
Detail your work, Come on, man? Yes? Uh, can I
have a complete moment of honesty with yes?

Speaker 4 (06:07):
Please? Please do.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
I haven't thought nearly as much about the Steelers upcoming
opponent as I as I normally would at this point
in the week.

Speaker 4 (06:14):
Hey, I don't expect anything less from you either this.

Speaker 2 (06:17):
Week, because right or wrong, my happiness for three hundred
and sixty four days hinges upon what happens tomorrow night.
If I have to hear it from pitt fans for
an entire year, or if I have to you know,
laugh while they pretend they don't care for an entire years.

Speaker 3 (06:33):
We will catch up with our buddy Chris Carter next
week along.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
It's a good thing the game's on Monday, too, because
you know, I gotta do the halftime report and the
postgame report, and I might not have a voice if
the game was on Sundays.

Speaker 4 (06:44):
Virginia.

Speaker 3 (06:46):
It's a big one.

Speaker 2 (06:47):
But it's also a big one Monday night Acrosture Stadum,
big football weekend in Pittsburgh. I tell you what, folks,
James Madison, you.

Speaker 5 (07:02):
Don't slip for you guys, man, this is gonna be
electric weekend man, And for you in your sanity.

Speaker 4 (07:08):
Yeah, because you do work in a heavy Pittsburgh market.

Speaker 3 (07:10):
With a lot of pen alone, you might say that, Yeah.

Speaker 4 (07:12):
I need you, I need it to work in your favor.

Speaker 3 (07:15):
I appreciate that. See you get me.

Speaker 4 (07:16):
Yeah, I do you understand?

Speaker 3 (07:19):
You understand I'm a born and raised the ends or
I love the Steelers.

Speaker 2 (07:22):
I love what the Steelers mean to the history and
the culture and the fabric of this city. But make
no mistake about it, my happiness hinges on Saturdays.

Speaker 4 (07:29):
You you you bleed wu. It's a different type of
like yo.

Speaker 5 (07:33):
If you had to kick the bucket to day, it
would be like Yo, Dov, you just pouring out of him.
You see some black gold in it, but it's just
heavy dove, you pouring out of that.

Speaker 4 (07:40):
Man.

Speaker 3 (07:42):
Don't blame me. It's just the way I was raised.

Speaker 4 (07:43):
Hey man, we can't controlled with sin us.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
Oldest daughter, Olivia, who's twenty three months old, I was
driving her to daycare this morning and she's in the
back seat going beat Pitt, Beat Pitt.

Speaker 4 (07:53):
Love go Mountaineers love it.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
So I'm continuing the love family tradition.

Speaker 4 (07:58):
Of a child after her Daddy's on my.

Speaker 2 (08:02):
Children to care way too much about a team that
will only break their heart, much like my father and
my grandfather did before me.

Speaker 5 (08:07):
Maybe, no, no negativity, It's gonna work out. I believe
you guys.

Speaker 3 (08:10):
Well, thank you. I appreciate your positivity.

Speaker 2 (08:13):
We want some positivity on the tweets with the predictions
because again, this is Brown's preview day. You guys might
not be as jacked up on a Friday as you
typically are for a Sunday game, but we'll make sure
that you get their cousins because we got no other options.

Speaker 3 (08:28):
Bonus Day here, That's exactly right.

Speaker 2 (08:31):
Get your tweets, her thoughts hitting.

Speaker 5 (08:34):
Out Bonus Day. I'm so excited for his bonus Day.

Speaker 3 (08:39):
Bro, me too.

Speaker 2 (08:40):
We got all the fixings, We got everything you need
to get you ready, whether it be Friday, whether the
game be Sunday or Monday. Listen, it's Pittsburgh and Cleveland,
all right? Does anything really need said more than that?
Arthur motes, because these Brownies. Can we just talk about
this for a second before we.

Speaker 3 (08:55):
Take our first break? Can you talk about this for
a second.

Speaker 4 (08:57):
Are you talking about the l's of the Browns? I'm confused.
Are they elves or the Browns'? Is it the dog? Which? Which? Which?

Speaker 3 (09:04):
Are they a dog?

Speaker 4 (09:06):
Is the brown bag? Okay?

Speaker 3 (09:07):
Color?

Speaker 5 (09:08):
I don't know who you're talking about specifically, so could
you please like be more specific?

Speaker 4 (09:14):
It's hard to keep up with them.

Speaker 2 (09:15):
Okay, the football team, professional football team located in Cleveland.

Speaker 4 (09:19):
Oh Ohio states. No, that's got to be close enough
to Cleveland. But that's got to be Cleveland.

Speaker 3 (09:25):
Bro, I tell you what.

Speaker 5 (09:25):
Said, professional team in Cleveland. It's got it's gotta be Toledo.
It's Toledo. Is Toledo, the University of Toledo. Taledo ain't
far from Cleveland.

Speaker 3 (09:34):
So Akron, it's kind of like Akron Rubber.

Speaker 4 (09:37):
I get it.

Speaker 5 (09:37):
It's like in Buffalo, right, we say it's a Buffalo,
but the stadiums and Orchard Park, correct, So I get it, Bro,
I get it. You talking about Cincinnati, the bear Cats.

Speaker 4 (09:47):
That's what it is.

Speaker 5 (09:48):
Yes, the Bearcats you're talking about. Totally forgot. I did
not know that that's the team you're referring to. That's
if he's just if just just be like like, oh,
I got your. I then paced the young lineback. All right,
it makes sense. I got you, I got you. You
was confusing me that I can't keep it with all
these nicknames and gime ona. So what's the special team

(10:08):
you're talking about?

Speaker 2 (10:09):
Now? The Cleveland Brons. Huh, Okay, you know Cleveland, that
town that's famous for Kid.

Speaker 5 (10:15):
Cuddy shot out the kid cutting man on the moon
one time for the coach.

Speaker 3 (10:19):
If you know, you know bone thugs in harmony.

Speaker 4 (10:22):
It's the thuggish, ruggish bone.

Speaker 2 (10:24):
You know what it is and nobody else will know.
Oh wait, wait wait wait wait stand the godfather saverign.

Speaker 4 (10:29):
You better put some respect one stamp or ip.

Speaker 2 (10:32):
But other than that, ain't nothing good ever come out
of that place at Cleveland.

Speaker 3 (10:36):
I tell you what.

Speaker 4 (10:37):
Because Lebron's from Acron.

Speaker 2 (10:38):
Lebron's from Acress from and he proved it because he's
left Cleveland twice.

Speaker 4 (10:42):
Yes, he's from Acre.

Speaker 3 (10:43):
He left Cleveland twice.

Speaker 4 (10:44):
He would never leave Accron twice. Sure, what.

Speaker 3 (10:48):
Motie. They're feeling themselves in Cleveland.

Speaker 2 (10:50):
Big win to start the year against Cincinnati, right, and
I mean, just for whatever reason, they have Joe Burrow's number,
don't they.

Speaker 3 (10:57):
He's like one and six against the Browns or something. Now,
it's pretty crazy.

Speaker 2 (11:02):
They win that Battle of Ohio decisively comfortably. Their defense
looks really good in the process. Uh, Nick Chubb looks
really good in the process. They're thinking, all right, Deshaun
Watson's gonna continue to get better and keep knocking that
rust off as he gets more in the fold. And yeah,
they lose Jack Conklin, which they all know is is
a big injury. But it's the National Football League that's

(11:22):
inevitable in some ways. You're going to lose a contributor
at some point, much like we have here in Pittsburgh.
They're feeling themselves, Mozi, And I tell you what for
this team that's had to hear And I'm talking about
the Steelers now. It's had a week of everybody throwing
dirt on them, the press, the fans, everybody in between.
You like how I said the press there not the media.

(11:43):
I'm trying to bring that back. It just sounds so
much sounds so much more proper. We're members of.

Speaker 4 (11:47):
The press, the media.

Speaker 2 (11:50):
With the press, it's it's it's been a I always
I think of the Tounch Yolkinism of right, the pistachio
theory of like when you eat a bad, rotten tasting pistata, show,
the only way to get it out of your mouth
is to have a good pistashio. Man, I think the
Steelers really have an opportunity for a good pistachio on
Monday night at home to knock down Cleveland, who's really
feeling good about themselves, to maybe make them ask some

(12:13):
questions about themselves. To go out there to get that
stink Rensted off of you that you're still kind of
reeling in from Sunday and that performance against the Niners.
This is what you wanted to bounce back opportunity.

Speaker 4 (12:23):
Arthur Wise, Oh yeah, this is the beauty of the NFL.

Speaker 5 (12:26):
Man games like this upcoming one where that's a good
team coming in, but it's a good team where you
feel like we're good enough to beat them and still
feel good about it.

Speaker 4 (12:35):
And that's the true test.

Speaker 5 (12:38):
If it was an opponent where you felt like we
were going to be punching down like at times we
could make a case for in the preseason, it doesn't
always hit the same It doesn't always have the same
level of validation, no doubt, and at times we know,
even from a preparation standpoint, you could even drop your guard.
This Cleveland team is good enough to come in here
and beat as decisively if we allow it. At the

(13:01):
same time, we're good enough to go out there and
beat them decisively.

Speaker 4 (13:04):
Come Monday night. Absolutely all we have to do is execute.

Speaker 5 (13:08):
This is that time where we talk about being less
about them and more about us. That's the true case here.
They're gonna try to run that ball. If they can
have success doing that, we're in for a long night.
Deshaun Watson is really good, but he is still rusty.
He's still coming back and you can still see it
at times, but he is improving. If you allow him
time to go back there and just extend plays and

(13:29):
you know see how he wants to see it, it
can hurt you a little bit. Absolutely. Amari Cooper, Amari
Cooper isn't killing you, but can he hurt you if
you're not ready for him, if you're not buttoned up
against a Mark Cooper.

Speaker 4 (13:42):
Absolutely. So those are the things.

Speaker 5 (13:44):
And then defensively, secondary is good largely because of.

Speaker 4 (13:49):
Their pass rush.

Speaker 5 (13:51):
They got Miles Gardon as a Darius Smith here in Pittsburgh,
we got TJ.

Speaker 4 (13:55):
Whs.

Speaker 5 (13:55):
So it makes us very arrogant when we talk about
other pass rushers. But Miles Garrett, regardless of your personal
films the bottom, as a top three pass rusher in
this league. I don't care how you feel about him personally.
I don't care that we have TJ y TJ. Why
isn't in charge of blocking said individual that no, it

(14:17):
would not trust me as much as we love TJ.

Speaker 2 (14:20):
That is not because that is watles try and block
TJ right right.

Speaker 5 (14:26):
But at least for Miles, the size out of the
size is drastically That's why everybody loves him because of
the size part.

Speaker 4 (14:33):
So if it was a hand to hand, it definitely
bowls well for him.

Speaker 5 (14:37):
But the beauty is they don't got to go ahead
to head. They going against tackles, you know. But that's
one of those things where with Miles and with Zidarius,
if you are not smart about how you're implementing your
plan pre snap even post snap, you can get yourself
hurt in or put in a really bad situation this
week real quick, and especially with some of the potential

(15:00):
line up adjustments that we might have out there on
the offensive line. So those are some of the things
that you know, you gotta be buttoned up with. And
that's why I like the fact that it is Cleveland
because it's just enough that it's gonna keep an edge
on your on your preparation. It's just enough that you
can't just say, oh, they suck, they ain't got nobody

(15:20):
because you're watching like, well, no, they got Nick Chubb. Boy,
you nankayon argue with the best back in the league
right now, man, one.

Speaker 2 (15:26):
Hundred percent, okay, one hundred percent. I think most people
go to Christian McCaffrey. But you can you can make
a case for Nick Chubb and not be crazy.

Speaker 5 (15:32):
Right, Yeah, I'm Warren Cooper, the top ten wide receiver
in this league has been that since he's gotten to
this league.

Speaker 4 (15:38):
Miles Garrett, we just talked about.

Speaker 5 (15:41):
Is it. Darius Smith is a fifteen plus sack guy.
So it's certain things that they're gonna be able to
bring it to the table.

Speaker 4 (15:48):
We're gonna be like, all right, okay, okay, Denzel Award,
good name, right, not a world beater. Butt You're like,
you better respect it.

Speaker 3 (15:57):
I take take him in the black and goal.

Speaker 4 (16:00):
Come on now.

Speaker 5 (16:02):
But but of course our black and Gold might have
vis being like, oh no, we'll turn our nose up
at that.

Speaker 4 (16:06):
We don't want that.

Speaker 2 (16:07):
Well, he did go to Ohio State, yeah, professional, that
professional team.

Speaker 4 (16:09):
And he plays for the professional Buckeyes then and he
works then.

Speaker 5 (16:13):
All right, but like I said, they have enough pieces
that we do have to be buttoned up. But they
don't have more than what we have, right, and that's
the difference.

Speaker 4 (16:23):
Now.

Speaker 5 (16:23):
Like I said, man, we do got some bumps and
bruises that we're going to have to figure out ways
to dress up and ultimately hide some search some situations.
But to me, man, I'm with you, man, this should
be one of those weeks where we feel good about it.

Speaker 2 (16:35):
And you know what, we got to take our first break.
But on the other side, I want to stay there
with you. One of those absences is Cam Heyward. A
huge part of slowing down Nick Chubb. What's that look
like in the absence of Captain Cam. Let's touch on
that when we return on the other side, you know
where to get at us. If you want to get involved.
We'll take your tweets. We got a handful of prediction
tweets already. Get those in now or hold your piece

(16:56):
until next week. Because this is our typical Friday show,
no show on money Day, so we gotta.

Speaker 3 (17:01):
Leave it all out there on the field, baby, and.

Speaker 2 (17:03):
We'll do that with you here until two o'clock on
ESPN Pittsburgh Steelers Nation Radio.

Speaker 1 (17:46):
This is the Steeler's Blitz with Wesley Euler and Arthur
Motz on your twenty four to seven Home of the
Black and Gold SNR.

Speaker 2 (17:56):
Blitzing here on a Friday, ladies and gentlemen Friday, where
we're pretending that the Steelers are just playing on Sunday
because we're doing our normal Shenanigans. We will not have
a show on Monday, so we got the full fixings
for you about fifteen minutes from now.

Speaker 3 (18:11):
Will do show me the Monday.

Speaker 2 (18:15):
We'll catch up with our buddy Brian Bacho, Arthur Motes,
will have five star matchups for you. All that good stuff,
including your predictions. Got a handful already, keep those rolling in.
If you want to get involved with the show today,
you tweet us your prediction for the game on Monday night.
We will read it off before we get out of here.
A reminder as well to Motes. I feel like I
should do this every season at the start, and I
forgot to do it last week. If you are private

(18:37):
on Twitter and you tweet us, it's not gonna show up.
It's not gonna show up because the only people that
can see your tweets are the people who follow you. Yes,
so I've had a couple of people in the history
of our you know, our six years now at training
camp in places like that, and not that anybody was
being a jerk or anything, Wes.

Speaker 4 (18:53):
You should just follow them from the Steeler's man account.

Speaker 5 (18:55):
Bro.

Speaker 2 (18:55):
Obviously people being like, hey, Wes, I've tweeted you guys
score predictions and you never read them. And I'd be like,
pull up your Twitter account for me, and sure enough,
they got that little lock there beside their name, which
means that they account is private, which means that Motes
and I are locked out. So make sure that your
tweets are public to view as well too, if you
want to get at us, if you want to get
involved with the program here on a Friday, as we

(19:17):
get you ready for Stiller's Browns Monday night at act
or Sure Stadium, Motzi. This is one of those games
to me, you know, sometimes, particularly early in an NFL season,
there's a lot of intrigue around an opponent. Yeah, maybe
they got a new coach or a new coordinator. You
haven't seen it, maybe they got a new quarterback, whatever.
You haven't seen a ton of them on film yet
at this point. That addition of that team, because it's

(19:39):
only a game or two into the season, I don't
think that's the case for either team here. The faces
are familiar, the coaching staffs are familiar, the styles are familiar, right,
And I think this is a clash in styles of
two teams that want to win the line of scrimmage.
They want to run the ball on offense and establish
and dominate and control that way. They want to stop

(20:00):
the run on defense and put the ball in the
opposing quarterbacks hands and make them throw forty sometimes and
meet you like that? How much taller of a task
is that for the Steelers without one captain Cam Hayward.

Speaker 5 (20:11):
Now, I mean it was gonna be a tall test
anyways because of the physicality that the Browns play with
in the running game specifically, So that was gonna be
a challenge. I mean, we saw how we defended the
run last week and you know some of the explosive
plays that we allowed. But now it definitely goes to
another level because Cam, you make a case, was your

(20:34):
best down defensive linean not you know, linebacker or front
seven player, but in terms of just handing the ground
guy last week could make a case he was your
guy in terms of not allowing movement. But now you're
gonna have to go into the debt, you know you're
gonna have to see a guy like my favors. Adams
was a little inconsistent last week, had some moments, but

(20:54):
then he had some not so good moments as well.
Now he's gonna get expanded playing time. We talk about
Kenu Benton played well last week, but this is a rookie.
You're about to have him play and then expanded playing time.
Now we go, let's see Braden Fioku another dude.

Speaker 4 (21:16):
Right in terms of maybe we see him active this week, that's.

Speaker 5 (21:20):
Because of this time of year or not year, but
because of this game and this is magic Marvin Leal
or how much of that do you start to see
more of now? But that's the thing in terms of
just the ripple effect of Cam not being out there,
those are the different body types you're gonna be putting
out there to ultimately try to slow that tack, slow
that attack down, because our strength against the Browns is

(21:42):
rushing the passer completely. If we can get to that phase,
we're in a great situation. The problem is if we
don't stop this run, it's gonna look like I was
looked the past couple of times where they've beatn us
because we've all, you know, bring up the oh the
Browns are the Browns when you see our record against
the Browns, and I know a lot of that is
because of seven. Ben Rosberger is not walking through that

(22:03):
door right now. This is not that Oh he's just
gonna come out there and the boogeyman is here.

Speaker 4 (22:07):
We're gonna win.

Speaker 5 (22:08):
No, We're gonna have to execute them, not turn the
ball over and ultimately do that for four quarters to
win because we don't just play hero ball anymore. We
don't have that right now. So with all of that,
With all that being said, yeah, yeah, yeah, this does
become a lot more challenging this week, man, a lot
more challenging.

Speaker 4 (22:26):
But at the same time, it's an opportunity. And that's
how you gotta look at it.

Speaker 5 (22:29):
You can look at it and be negative and say,
woe is me, Oh my god, Cam is down. They
run the ball, that's what they do really well. The
strength of their offense line is the interior portion. Right now,
Oh this sucks, it's about to be over. You can
take that approach, or you can look at it and say,
one of these guys are gonna get an opportunity to
show us something that they haven't shown us before. One

(22:50):
of these guys is gonna get an opportunity to step
up and potentially change the trajectory of their NFL career.
I think of myself and how if it wasn't for
a Jarvis Jones getting hurt, I don't get the opportunity
to play here.

Speaker 4 (23:02):
I don't get the opportunity to start here. You gotta
take advantage.

Speaker 5 (23:05):
Of the opportunities, though, because I'm not the only person
who's had an opportunity because of an injury. But I
took advantage of set opportunity. If you come out here,
you know, Monday night and your expanded role is, Hey,
you started last week, but you only played thirty percent.

Speaker 4 (23:21):
Of the snaps.

Speaker 5 (23:21):
Now you're about to play fifty percent of the snaps. Sure,
I'm gonna need the production to reflect that. If you're
a guy that didn't have a helmet last week, just
down this week you're dressing.

Speaker 3 (23:32):
And we need you to play forty fifty of the snaps.

Speaker 4 (23:35):
I needed to reflect that in production.

Speaker 5 (23:38):
If you're a demarvel leal and we already got high
expectations for you, but now it's no camp, well I'm
looking at you like a man. Come on, baby, it's
time to be you know, a six rond draft pick.
We took you early for a.

Speaker 3 (23:51):
Reason, mister sec baby.

Speaker 4 (23:53):
We know what you're capable of. So what time is
better than now? Wow?

Speaker 5 (23:58):
Wait, we've already heard some of the reports him in
terms of uh count o Benn in terms of them
already communicating with him to hey, you gotta grow so
you got to grow up fast quick.

Speaker 4 (24:07):
I thought he played really well last week. I thought
I did. I mean, I thought he did.

Speaker 5 (24:10):
But this is going to be a very different challenge
because of the amount of snaps that he's going to
potentially be playing. And we got to see, man, how
that consistency is affected by that special young players man,
specially young players. But like I said, man, it's definitely
a great opportunity for those guys though, and they should
be eager to have it.

Speaker 3 (24:30):
They should be.

Speaker 2 (24:31):
It's it is one of those opportunities, you know, for
for some of those guys, whether it's a rookie, you know,
someone someone like Benton who is still so early in
this process, someone like the Marvin Leal who's now had
a year and is really looking to take a step forward.

Speaker 3 (24:43):
And solidify himself in his roles.

Speaker 2 (24:47):
And for someone like Fioco right who was brought in
as a free agent, who started the season on the
who is on the practice squad right, but might get
some opportunities here to make sure he stays getting a
helmet going forward, and makes you know, it impossible for
the Steelers to not have him dressed on game days.
For a lot of different guys, a lot of different
kind of opportunities for them personally when the team really

(25:08):
needs them to step up and take advantage of those opportunities.

Speaker 3 (25:12):
So I think that's well said by you. And it again.

Speaker 2 (25:15):
You lose your first game at home, and then you're
back at home again week two, right, I mean you're
fortunate in that regard. You only have you know what,
It is actually funny how the schedule worked out this year.
Like last year, I think the Steelers only once, I
think the Steelers only once last year had back to
back home games.

Speaker 3 (25:31):
This year, they've got it everywhere.

Speaker 2 (25:33):
They got two at home, right, then they got three
at home in October and November, and then they got
two at home in December.

Speaker 3 (25:39):
You don't want to be stacking losses at home.

Speaker 4 (25:42):
Never want to stack losses, but especially when the games.

Speaker 3 (25:46):
Are coming at home.

Speaker 2 (25:47):
You know, you rattle up a few wins and then
you make one of these long road trips and it's hey,
it happens.

Speaker 3 (25:52):
It's the National Football League.

Speaker 2 (25:53):
No one's going undefeated, right, But what you don't want
to do is rattle off a bunch of losses at
home and then still have to take those road trips
to Fay, I guess in Houston, back to back to
LA to Seattle, you know, those different longer trips and everything.
So a big opportunity, certainly one that they should get
up for. As you and I joke about, we always laugh,
you and I laugh at the bulletin board material type stuff,

(26:14):
I think in general, but particularly in the National Football League. Right,
you didn't make it to this point if you need
somebody to motivate you, if you need a kick in
the butt. You wouldn't have lasted very long at high
level football if that were the case.

Speaker 3 (26:28):
But there is plenty of motivation for the Steelers.

Speaker 2 (26:31):
Everything they endured on Sunday and then the fallout of
their fans and their press who were just crowning them.
Is Division champions and AFC contenders and maybe go into
the Super Bowl now all of a sudden saying we
got to fire everybody, and we got a tank.

Speaker 3 (26:46):
For this guy that guy.

Speaker 2 (26:48):
And then just you've got to want to know Cleveland
Browns team a division foe who you always want to beat,
particularly at home, particularly when they're a game up on
you already and you don't want to fall further behind
early on in the season. There is a lot going
into this game. No one has an excuse to come
out flat on Monday, because it's go time.

Speaker 4 (27:06):
Arthur Motes, I'm with you one hundred percent.

Speaker 5 (27:09):
You can make a strong case that even last week
that was a large part of why the game got
to where it did as fast as it did. We
didn't match the intensity of that forty nine ers team.
That forty nine Ers team came out and they looked
like they had just played in an NFC championship game,
and that was the intensity that they showed up into
that stadium with. Whereas for us, we came out of

(27:31):
that thing like, oh yeah, we but in the preseason, man,
and it's just a different tempo. There's nothing wrong with it,
but it's just a different tempo and they're a little
bit further, a little bit more mature in their process
right now as a team as a whole, whereas for us,
we're still learning. But the beauty is that was a
great teaching tool. If we make it that now, if

(27:54):
we come out here and repeat process, that tells us
that what we did not learn our lesson last week.
And we still think that we just show up out
here and it's gonned just you know, fall in our
place for it. That's not the case, though. I feel
that they will respond and start fast because of that,
and that's half the battle in this league. Man, you
gotta match the intensity. We saw that with that Bills

(28:15):
team versus our Steelers team when it was the second
preseason game, same players on that field. One team had
a lot more intensity though, and it was reflected.

Speaker 3 (28:26):
The other team looked like they were just doing a
walk through.

Speaker 5 (28:29):
It was reflected, so you can see it's not about
talent always. You gotta have that mental fortituite and that
intensity to be locked in and say that I'm giving
you my best effort every single time. I'm not going
to warm up to this thing. And hopefully we're going
to see that version on Monday night.

Speaker 2 (28:48):
Man, no time to warm up to it in this league,
particularly when it's a division rival, because.

Speaker 5 (28:55):
On points and now instead of we're looking at our
offense saying, man, let's run the ball, let's be balanced,
you're looking at me saying we're down two scores and
we're about and we just turned the ball.

Speaker 3 (29:04):
Over and they get the ball back at halftime.

Speaker 5 (29:08):
Your your your, your patients. You don't feel like you
have the time to be patient. You start pressing, You
start feeling like I have to be more urgent. Then
you give up the you know, big toeschdown run to
start the third third quarter, and it just adds that
feeling even more so. Man So in both halves, what
did you do in the first couple series? You started slow,

(29:31):
you warmed up to it, and you put yourself in
a hole in both scenarios.

Speaker 4 (29:37):
Ended to have really good though right ended great.

Speaker 2 (29:39):
Great, and that that you needed that spark to make
it feel like you were still in the game.

Speaker 4 (29:42):
But you gotta start fast.

Speaker 3 (29:44):
You have to, can't you. You can't start.

Speaker 2 (29:47):
Teams points in this league. And with that, I got
a question for you. Okay, we're gonna do a good
old fashioned radio teas here. Arthur moutz a question for
you that I want you to answer on the other
side when we come back. Steelers won the toss on Sunday. Right, Well,
I guess I should say the Niners lost the toss
because the away team is the one.

Speaker 3 (30:05):
You get what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (30:06):
Yeah, I was like, man, I.

Speaker 3 (30:08):
Think I outthought myself on that one.

Speaker 2 (30:10):
Steelers won the coin toss on Sunday, and they elected
to receive something that Mike Tomlin hasn't done a ton of,
particularly in the post Killer.

Speaker 4 (30:18):
Be Air track of him, like, for real, I.

Speaker 3 (30:22):
See where I'm going with this. You'll see.

Speaker 2 (30:24):
I feel like he used to do that a lot
more in the Killer be Era hasn't done that much lately.
Wants to put the defense out there first, wants to
set the tone, wants to get the ball back at halftime.

Speaker 4 (30:36):
You laughing.

Speaker 2 (30:38):
I think we were all jacked up, at least I
know in the booth myself, Wolf.

Speaker 3 (30:41):
Billy, our whole crew there.

Speaker 2 (30:42):
When the Steelers won the toss and the Steelers wanted
the ball, we were like, all right, let's go. The
offense started fast all preseason. Mike Tomlin's given them the
opportunity to do that. Again obviously didn't work out as
we just outlined. So my question for Arthur Motes, and
I'll give my answer to as well, is if the
Steelers end up getting the choice on Monday night, if
they win the toss on Monday night, you're kicking or

(31:04):
you receiving.

Speaker 3 (31:05):
Who's setting the tone, who's starting the intensity?

Speaker 2 (31:09):
I want to hear Arthur Motzes's answer on the other side,
it's the Steelers blitz on SNR.

Speaker 1 (31:32):
This is the Steeler's Blitz with Wesley Euler and Arthur
Motes on your twenty four to seven Home of the
Black and Gold sn R.

Speaker 2 (31:42):
Blitzing on a Friday, having some fun here as we
always do, Okay, Arthur Motes. Before we went to break,
I asked a simple question, if the Steelers have the
option on the coin toss to.

Speaker 3 (31:54):
Take the ball or defer to the second half.

Speaker 5 (31:57):
What you're going with, whatever you do, I'd like to
be surprised. I'm all all for surprises, so you.

Speaker 3 (32:05):
Know, it's funny.

Speaker 2 (32:06):
I did not plan this at all, Like this is
not something that's in my show notes or anything.

Speaker 3 (32:09):
It was just in the process of us talking.

Speaker 2 (32:11):
About the offense and the intensity and those things I
just kind of thought of it, because again I did
love it when Mike Tomlin said we want the ball.

Speaker 3 (32:18):
I mean, he didn't do the hassleback right and say
we want the ball, we're gonna score. But that was putting.

Speaker 2 (32:22):
Faith in his offense to say, hey, I believe in
what you guys did five out of five touchdown drives
in the preseason, scored on all your opening drives in
the preseason.

Speaker 3 (32:30):
I believe that you can go out there and start
this game on the right note for us. I loved that.

Speaker 2 (32:36):
And when you kind of you know, we're talking about
the matching, the intensity thing in my mind of thinking
like what I did when I put the defense out there,
because I tell you what, you make the Browns go
three and out or maybe they pick up a first down,
but then they have to punt. You don't let Nick
Chubb do much on the first drive. All of a
sudden that place is fired up, jacked up, and get
the ball back and just so nah bump, that is
my co host would say, Steelers. If the Browns lose

(32:58):
the toss and the Steelers get the option, I would
the football. Again, I'm going right back to my offense
I'm saying, I know last week wasn't who you guys are.

Speaker 3 (33:05):
Go show me that that was a one off.

Speaker 2 (33:07):
Go show me that you could be the unit that
we thought you were throughout preseason and training camp.

Speaker 4 (33:11):
And if that doesn't work, then what well, then.

Speaker 3 (33:14):
You better hope the defense comes to play and get
you that thing back.

Speaker 4 (33:18):
Yeah, I just you know. It's one of the things
of sports.

Speaker 5 (33:21):
Y'all love offense so much that y'all will no, no, no, no,
come on me, y'all will beat y'all head into the
ground to figure out if an offense is or is
not good enough.

Speaker 4 (33:31):
But with defense. But y'all turned to pay so quick, bro.

Speaker 5 (33:35):
When it was the Killer be era, there was never
a debate who was going to get the ball first.
We knew he was gonna send the office out because
they were the best part of our team. We start
fast as a unit because of them, because.

Speaker 3 (33:48):
You take the fields of defense and you've already got.

Speaker 5 (33:50):
A lead, right So it's like, man, we knew for
us at that time we were up and coming on defense.
We didn't have a Barren Roethlisberg or Antonio Brown and
Le'Veon Bell. We didn't Pouncy you know what I mean,
Like we were still on the up and coming. It
was like, man, all right, we don't just throw that
out there first, because now you'll mess around and give
up a long drive and you done killed clock and

(34:12):
they got points on the board, and now we gotta
feel like a different type of mentality, different type of vibe.
Whereas we knew for us, man, when you got young
corners or inexperienced in certain places, you need to be
with the lead, So we would throw that out there first.
Right now, we know what the best part of our
team has been for the past three four years, the defense.

(34:34):
But we know that this is the NFL. Every rule
is designed for what offense. We know for fans, they
want to see points score, So I get it. That's
the whole reason why this whole week game gets played.
All the playful play, you know, not so good. But
we over here trying to justify why it was Kenny
that played bad and why it wasn't his fault, whereas

(34:56):
we ain't doing it for pat p. I ain't heard
nobody making discoos from my travors, Adam. I definitely didn't
see nobody, not one time be like man, you know, man,
Alex Hospe, he would have had three sacks, but man,
he's had to row on Cleton on that day.

Speaker 4 (35:08):
We ain't none of that because you don't care about
none of that.

Speaker 5 (35:11):
But when it's the offensive guy, man, y'all, it's like, bro,
we go do whatever this particular week.

Speaker 6 (35:16):
Man, put him out there again. Yeah, let's put him
out there again. First this we can't. Yeah, yeah, why
because we really believe it this time? Why because you
didn't see it work last week. So that's what the
work this week because you start working the preseason.

Speaker 5 (35:27):
But in all seriousness, though, as you know, from the
coach's perspective, I can see it going either way. And
this is you know, long story short why I like
the best of you every once in a while. But
though it's like as a coach though, there are times
and this was also doing that Killery Ratt where if

(35:48):
he's trying to instill confidencing you and he's trying to
work something specific, even though he knows this could put
us in a hole. We could go out there and
turn that ball over on the third play, and it
could feel like when Baker came here and through that
pick six to Mika and how it looked like they
got deflated literally the second series in that game. Second

(36:12):
series in that game. But they were trying to do something.
They were trying to show Baker that we believe in you.
They were trying to give him confidence because they know
if he has confidence with their defense running game, they
were gonna be fine. But he lost the confidence that quick.

Speaker 3 (36:28):
It's fragile.

Speaker 4 (36:28):
This is the same scenario.

Speaker 3 (36:30):
To me, that's a great example.

Speaker 5 (36:32):
It's like, man, which what are we trying to accomplish here?
Because as a coach, you could say, man, I'm really
trying to get confidence in Kenny, so let me put
the office out there first.

Speaker 4 (36:40):
But you can be strategic about it.

Speaker 5 (36:41):
I'm putting them out there first, but I'm run heavy,
I'm taking a shot on plaction pass. It's calculated or
it could be all right, we're gonna put you out there.
We're gonna open it up like how we did last week. Man, First, man,
we in the gun, Hi, well, receive right. Next week
might go empty our here and then we can tell
that goes now if it works out, then yet it's
gonna feel a less like everybody in their stadium is

(37:01):
going to go crazy and the confidence would be insane,
but we also know that you're gonna put it at
a higher risk for it to go the other way
as well, where you're potentially starting in a hole or
you're starting out three and out, six and out and
you feel flat.

Speaker 4 (37:16):
Sure, And that's the other part.

Speaker 5 (37:18):
Whereas the last time that the fans were in the stadium,
the last time those players were there, they felt that
energy or the lack thereof, especially with the offense.

Speaker 4 (37:28):
So you just got to be real careful about that part,
you know what I mean.

Speaker 3 (37:31):
The defense that's perfectly stated.

Speaker 4 (37:33):
Where's with the defense?

Speaker 5 (37:34):
It's just less of the the hotspis right now. You
don't have to worry about are they going to be
super higher super low? They have shown yeah, like there's
certain level of consistency with them, and especially with their stars.
They got superstars over there. You gotta Tej wat over there.
You got alex I Smith, you gotta you don't got
Cam this week, but you still got Patrick Peterson.

Speaker 4 (37:56):
We gotta make a fitz Patrick over there, you know
what I mean.

Speaker 3 (37:57):
So it's like dudes that can make place.

Speaker 5 (37:59):
These are names that we're not saying we talk our
offense when we say George Pickens, who is George Pickens
the equivalent to of our defense right now. You can't
say Pat p because he has not established hi stuff
that you can't even.

Speaker 2 (38:09):
Say because he's a year behind in the process.

Speaker 4 (38:14):
So it's like of.

Speaker 5 (38:14):
All our stars, he's not even that just yet on
offense because he hasn't had a chance to prove it.
But he still hasn't. He's not that Kenny who is
case Kenny isn't Cole Holkham just yet. And Cole has
been to do this, had one hundred plus tackles and
started this league for multiple seasons. But that's the thing
that when when I say, like, what are we trying

(38:35):
to accompis with the offense. If you're trying to build
them up and we do it the right way, you
do send them out there first in prime time, but
it has to be really really calculated, has to be
done the right way because of the confidence because they're
still on the upswing right now. We love them and
we're very confident for them and confident in them. But
that's because that's like a family member, bro, you know

(38:58):
how it is where it's like, hey man, I think
my son the best out but I don't know if
he's really the best out until I see him play
other people or go up against others, you know what
I mean. So we think that our offense is the
best thing since slaves Preyer. We think our quarterback is
the guy. We think that Pickings is the guy. We
think Nasia is the guy. We think, and rightfully so
we should. But at the same time, we got to
get those tests to be proven so it could be validated.

(39:20):
And that's the part where I guess he just gotta
be real, just cautious, not careful, but just cautious.

Speaker 4 (39:26):
Body.

Speaker 2 (39:27):
Yeah, like I said, that makes a lot of sense.
I'm picking up what you're putting down. That's a great
lecture from Professor Metal.

Speaker 4 (39:32):
We talk about starting fast. If I do say so,
you gotta start fast, baby.

Speaker 2 (39:36):
All right, before we get to break here, close down
the first hour of the show.

Speaker 3 (39:39):
You know what time it is.

Speaker 4 (39:40):
Show me the money.

Speaker 2 (39:43):
Last week I picked four games for you, went two
and two there, all right, so a decent start. I
got three this.

Speaker 3 (39:48):
Week that I like. Botzi all right, I'm listening.

Speaker 2 (39:51):
First one Falcons at home hosting Green Bay. They're getting
two points.

Speaker 3 (39:56):
I like the Falcons.

Speaker 2 (39:57):
Maybe don win straight up. But I'm taking Atlanta plus
two Green Bay Desmond. I'm believing and their ability to
run the.

Speaker 4 (40:06):
Ball to control that game they can't stand.

Speaker 2 (40:09):
In defense getting a little bit better. I think the
Packers are good. I mean again, I I I picked
I picked Matt Lafleur to win Coach of the Year
and said, I think the Packers might shock everybody win
that division. But I think they're riding a little high
after last week. I don't know if they're quite that good,
the whopping that they put on the Bears. Give me
the Falcons plus two at home against the Packers of
those Bears.

Speaker 3 (40:30):
Okay, you ready for this. I don't think they're as
bad as they looked last week.

Speaker 4 (40:34):
Perspective they go to Tampa.

Speaker 3 (40:36):
