Speaker 1 (00:28):
This is the Steelers Blitz with Wesley Euler and Arthur
Motes on your twenty four to seven Home of the
Black and Gold skn R Hour.
Speaker 2 (00:37):
Two blitz in here as we are getting ready for
Steelers Niners Sunday one o'clock down Acker Sure Stadiums. And
one of the things I think we do best here
on the show, if we were ever to, like win,
you know, a prestigious award, Arthur Motes.
Speaker 3 (00:51):
I can't even spell prestigious. Geez man, that's such a
big word.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
If we were ever to you know, win something you know,
like a Marconi Award, like like real journalists and media
people do. If we were ever to win like an
Emmy or something like that, or you know something like.
Speaker 4 (01:08):
That, a Nobel Peace Prize piece.
Speaker 3 (01:11):
So we can't we can't win that.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
It would be for this upcoming segment that we're about
to do. It's a really simple concept, but sometimes those
are the things that you execute best, right, like a
really good steak something like that. It's simple, but it's
elegant and that's five star I love steak. That's five
star Friday, folks. It is a very simple concept where
Arthur Moch just gives us the five matchups that we
need to keep an eye on on Sunday, the matchups
(01:34):
that determine the outcome of Steelers and Niners. In a
little segment we call five Star Friday. It's a five
star matchup because we're in it.
Speaker 4 (01:49):
Five Star Friday Matchup number one.
Speaker 3 (01:53):
Well, well, well, it feels good to be home. Feels
real good to be home. Baby. So you know we're
gonna start it all right at the front, man, and
I'm talking Alex hog Smith versus Trent Williams. Baby, when
you talk about good on good, when you talk about
stud left tackle up and coming stood pass rushing, oh baby,
(02:15):
this is what you're gonna get right here. You got
a future first ballot Hall of Famer versus a guy
that's trying to make his case to be you know,
having his name living on forever ever. But this is
one of those matchups. Man, when you talk, Trent arguably
has been you know, the best left tackle his generation. Correct,
You can make the case between him Tyron smith Man.
(02:37):
Obviously we know Joe Thomas was right at the beginning
of that tenure, but as a whole tr jacket, Trent
has definitely been the standard. And when you talk Alex
highsmith Man, it's the reason why we decided to pay
him what we decided to pay him this offseason, largely
because of the fourteen and a half SAX he had
last season, but also the development that he's had throughout
his tenure here. And this is one of those ones
(02:59):
where you've earned the right to be viewed in this matchup.
You've earned the right to be looked at as let's
see what you actually are capable of accomplishing versus this
caliber guy. Because we are past you just beaten regular guys.
We we assume we we you know, we chalked that up.
But now we're paying you and saying that you're the
(03:23):
type of guy that pushes these guys. Now these are
no longer well, we're not gonna get any pressure on
that left side. No, no, no, no, these are.
Speaker 4 (03:32):
These are some dolls.
Speaker 3 (03:33):
Go make some noise, Go make him remember your name.
And that's what I'm excited about, because this is one
thousand percent good on good. So you know I had
to start it off with that one right there and
shout out once again to new money Alexi Smith Mozi.
Speaker 4 (03:47):
That's like leading off with Ken Griffy Jr.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
Right there.
Speaker 2 (03:51):
I mean you just that's perhaps the matchup to watch
in this game. That's gonna be a great one and
uh yes, certainly one that is going to determine the
outcome of this game.
Speaker 4 (04:02):
Fine Star Friday matchup number two.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
Well, you know, I got to take it to the
inside lineback a portion, and that's where Kwan Alexander comes
into a in the focus and specifically him versus Christian McCaffrey.
And it's this simple, man, I'm not talking Christian McCaffrey
as a running back in between the tackles. I ain't
worried about that. Cole A Landing, Kwan and company are
(04:24):
gonna handle that. I'm specifically speaking on that ball when
it is between the hash and the numbers. We call
it the alley. When McCaffrey is in the alley, it's
one or two things is gonna happen. You either make
that tackle and it's a two yard pickup, or you
missed that tackling it's a thirty yard pick You.
Speaker 4 (04:44):
Got up on one of those highlight tapes like you
were talking about earlier.
Speaker 3 (04:47):
It is that simple. When you talk about how this
Niners offense generates splash plays. It's not in the sense
of go line up five wide and run verticals. No,
it's I'm gonna throw that ball to de bo in
the perimeter. I'm gonna get Christian McCaffrey out there in
the perimeter, right in the alley, and we're gonna see
can your linebacker, your safety, or your nickel corner can
(05:08):
they tackle one on one? And if they can make
that play, great, they're gonna have to do it about
fifty times. And if they can't make that play, all
that takes is one time, and that's gonna be the thing.
So for me, man Kwan, just be buttoned up in
the alley. That's the drill that we talked about at
training camp that has really become a marquee event to
(05:31):
see where we get the all right, you back pedal,
you get the ball in space unless he can you
make that tackle. This is what that drill is for,
and it's specifically for guys like Kwan when you're matching
up with a Christian McCaffrey, who we know is electric
with the ball in hand. So be buttoned up, make
them tackles, and let's.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
Go put a damper on that electricity. Leave the electricity
to us here in the electric factory. Come on now,
five Star Friday matchup number three.
Speaker 3 (05:58):
Well, I'm sure West is gonna be excited about this
one because we talked t J. Watt and we got
to talk his boy, his favorite right tackle in the NFL,
Colt mckivitt's shout out to Colt and shout out, Yeah,
it's a mounta mama coming out. And unfortunately with the
(06:19):
mountain Mama, you know, with my mama, it's a storm coming.
It's a storm coming. With said no and MoMA. I
don't know if you've been doing the still social media account,
but they was trying to give a little hint to
who's in that storm the eye of said storm, and
it just so happened that I seen it, and you know,
I looked at it with my good eye. You know,
I got my good eyes, all right, So I look
(06:39):
with my good eye and it was a nine and
it was a zero. He looks serious. He looked like
somebody just became the new highest paid defender in the NFL,
right after winning Defensive Player of the Year. And everybody's
talking about this individual as if number ninety has just
disappeared from the face of the earth.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
Mm hmmm, he still exists. I saw him every day
at training camp. I saw him in a couple plays
in preseason.
Speaker 3 (07:07):
So call mckivitt's I'm gonna just get this out the
way before Sunday gets here, because TJ is gonna do
some things to you. So I'm gonna just say on
behalf of TJ watch performance on Sunday, with all due respect,
and I'm gonna leave it at that. I'm just put
that out there now because I already know it's gonna
get real real, just uncalled for, you know what I mean,
(07:29):
one of the ones where he's just like, TJ, did
you have to go there? You know, it's just I don't,
with all due respect, with all due respect having said that,
you know, let me just say this ahead of time
because I don't. I don't want, you know, any feelings
to get hurt. He's giving us all that now, So
I'm just taking that out the way now. I'm getting
that out the way. So when it starts out and
(07:51):
it's like, yo, TJ looks possessed. TJ is just at
this guy for no reason. Like I said, with all
due respect, with all due respect. Okay, it's not you
with him, all right, it's not you and.
Speaker 4 (08:03):
The will like get ugly for my boy.
Speaker 3 (08:05):
Five stars, I gotta shut your mans off. Shut your
mans off.
Speaker 4 (08:09):
Matchup number four. Let's just move on from that one quickly.
Speaker 5 (08:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (08:13):
TJ's gonna kill him. Yeah he went to w.
Speaker 2 (08:18):
Yeah, I'm gonna be watching one hand over my eyes
like a scary part of a horror movie. Five start Friday,
not your number four.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
We're hell on this fourth matchup. We've been excited about him.
We got very very very high expectations for him too.
I'm talking George Pickens GP. If you are who you
who we think you are, we should be ready for
some fireworks. We should have extremely high expectations. And the
(08:46):
matchup I'm specifically looking for is every time they do
not push our various ward on him. Okay, because to me,
Ward is a good player, because he's still gonna have
success against War. But Ward's a good player. He'll hold
his own absolutely. I respect that got Chever's ward. But
the problem is Chavera's ward can only cover one person
(09:06):
at a.
Speaker 2 (09:07):
Time unless he's unlocked some some ability that we have
not discovered yet.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
And the last I check. We do have a Deontay
Johnson who is our volume receiver. He's the play in
and play out, the guy that keeps us on schedule,
the target guy. That's typically the guy that you want
Ward on. But the problem is, if you put Ward
on DJ, Pickens is going to feast on any of
these other corners.
Speaker 4 (09:31):
Okay, now we can talk.
Speaker 3 (09:34):
As simple as that, man, whether you want to go
with Leonora, Oliver wool Mack, whoever you want to put
out there, those are matchups where Pickens is expected to
dominate them, and he will and I can't wait to
see you maybe alright, So that's what that's my forefront though, man,
because that's going to be critical not just for Pickens
(09:56):
and for Kenny's confidence, but more so to offset this
pas shresh that the Niners are gonna be rolling out.
We can act like our pride and ego is so
big that we don't believe Bosa is as great as
he is. Even if you don't think Bosa is TJ
why Bosa is still, without a doubt, in the top
(10:16):
five in the National Football League at arguably the second
most important position on a football team. Talk. Okay, dog,
So if you come out here and act as if,
oh we got TJ. Watt, so damn Moe Choos could
block Bosa one on one. I'm gonna tell you now,
you're lying to yourself. So we're gonna do things schematically
(10:42):
to help those dudes out. Yeah, we're gonna do things
to protect them. But the big thing that we're gonna
do is take advantage of George pick Is when he's
lined up against these clear cut mismatches, because that's when
we're gonna take the shots down Phield, That's when we're
gonna flip the field. That's when we're gonna frustrate pass rushers,
and that's ultimately gonna help our offense be the explosive part.
(11:04):
That is the difference between that Niners team and our team.
Their explosiveness is lateral in the form of make a
guide miss. Now we're running and racing through the alley
with McCaffrey, with Debo, with Brandon Aiyuk. We have a
true legitimate explosive weapon and George Piggins where we can
throw it up and say, big dog, go get it.
Speaker 4 (11:25):
And in a fifty fifty ball, it's like a seventy
thirty ball.
Speaker 3 (11:27):
Okay, so I'm not gonna ac surprised. That's all I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (11:31):
Who Arthur Motz taking them to church?
Speaker 2 (11:34):
And that only leaves one more thing here then, Oh,
five star fo Ride Day matchup number five.
Speaker 3 (11:44):
Oh he still got the Jews. New Year knew him,
but he's still got the same vocals, New Year Solad.
Let's go. Let's go. But I'm gonna end it in
the trenches man in this time for the offense. But
more importantly, I'm talking specifically our new guard Isaac say
my and are returning high money guard James Daniels. I'm
(12:05):
excited for both of y'all. Say you, Malu, you were
here for a reason, You've been compensated heavily for a reason,
and you're gonna be very familiar with the person I'm
gonna be talking about that you're going against, by the
name of Javon Hargrave a k A j y aka
my partner to AKA, my one double a brother. Okay,
I know exactly what Hargrave is particular, no disrespect to
(12:29):
say you Marlow and Daniels. I'm still learning a lot
about both of you guys, though. Okay, let's make a
great first impression why don't we if you say you
malu good way to start. We brought you here for
a reason, right, We've talked about you as a Pro
Bowl caliber guy. We're seeing arguably you can. You are
our best offensive linement, right, m.
Speaker 4 (12:50):
Hm, that's gonna be the scene is.
Speaker 3 (12:53):
Due in practice all last year I needed to look
like you're the reason why you're here. James Dames, The
exact same thing goes to you, man. We thought you
played really well last year. I ain't evenna lot to
tell you thought you put together a good preseason as well.
But we know if you are as good as we
think you're capable of being, in which the contract reflected,
(13:17):
these are the type of dudes you gotta be able
to block consistently, baby, because we know what the tackles
gotta deal with in terms of Bosa. Yeah, and he
rotates sides. It's not an exclusive thing where he only
wants to be married to one tackle on. He liked
to go both ways, all right. So it's gonna get real,
real active, real real crazy out there. So we don't
have time to be allowed on my dog, Jay Hargrave.
Speaker 4 (13:39):
We can't have two chaos agents on that D line.
Speaker 3 (13:42):
You know how we love the TJ and Cam Hayward
element because it's like, man, we body punching and knockout.
We can't allow that it happened to us in the Niners.
That's definitely what they're gonna be trying to do. Okay, now,
once again we got the ad bonus of Alex Highsmith.
Sure so we punching rights left, We throw some kicks
in there. Sure is going right to left. They ain't
got no kicks. Big body shot. But the big they
(14:04):
heavy on the body, heavy to the chin. They ain't
throwing the legs and shit. That's what we got that
added element. All right, that's all one up. But as
a whole though, Isaac and James, they got to make
sure that they are doing what they're supposed to do
versus a guy like Javon Hargrave. And we know Hargrave
is still getting it done at the extremely high level.
And he's new money also, so it's gonna be a
(14:27):
lot of good on good out there. But that's why
they make the five star matchups.
Speaker 2 (14:32):
Tell you what Professor Motz back like, he never left
quickly Mozi one more time for those who missed it
or might just want to double check their notes before
we get to our buddy, Brian Baco. The five matchups
that will determine the outcome of Steelers Niner Sunday afternoon.
Speaker 3 (14:44):
Absolutely, man, we started up front man, Alex Heisman versus
Trent Williams. Got to get your wins in there, man,
make a competitive as heck, because you've earned the right
for it to be competitive as heck. Next up, Kawan
Alexander versus Christian McCaffrey. We know who CMC is. Kwan,
you gotta make your tackles in the alley, al right.
Next up, we got TJ. Watt versus Westley Yuli's favorite
(15:06):
right tackle in all of football, Colten mckivit's aka almost
having missed them. Mountain Mama himself sack official Amazon, we
like to call him right here alrighty. Then after that, man,
we got George Pickens versus any corner back for the
San Francisco forty nine Ers not named Sharvarius Ward. And
for those of you that might be saying, well, Arthur,
why said that I can't see Sharfair's Ward's name or
(15:30):
how do I know it's him? Well, don't worry about it.
If you see the number seven. Okay, it is not
Ben Roethlisberger, it's not Colin Kaepernick. Okay, that is the gentleman.
So if number seven is not aligned on our guy,
George Pickens, that's the eye that we want to be throwing. Okay,
that's the guy win a target and then last, but
(15:50):
certainly not least. Can I get some love for my
big guys up front? We got my new addition guard
Isaac say Umlu and my og who's coming back, James
dany U versus my pot the guy that I went
to battle with multiple times and we just share blood
on the moon together. Javon Hargrave. Oh baby, I can't wait.
We're humbled and excited to be in these five star matchups.
(16:13):
Five star matchup. Somebody leaving here with the loss not
gonna be us.
Speaker 2 (16:18):
Mezie breaking it all down. Somebody is leaving with a
loss on Sunday and it ain't gonna be us. Straight
light Brian Baco, he just got out of the locker room.
We'll get the latest from our real big Jay Journo,
our good friend of the show. Mister Brian Bacho joins
us on the other side to Steelers Blitz.
Speaker 4 (16:33):
On SNR.
Speaker 1 (16:49):
This is the Steelers Blitz with Wesley Euler and Arthur
Motes on your twenty four to seven home of the
Black and Gold skn R.
Speaker 2 (16:59):
Back for another season, our sixth here doing this show
called the Steelers Blitz, and we are fired up and
since really early in this process this program's history known
as Steelers Blitz. Our first good friend of the show.
Are only good friend of the show. Don't let Chris
Carter hear me say that. That's been our buddy, Brian
Bacho from the Pittsburgh Post Gazette. He has become part
(17:20):
of these Friday traditions as well too. That includes catching
up with our buddy, getting his prediction on the game,
any of the latest from the locker room.
Speaker 4 (17:28):
Mister Baco, how are we doing, cousin doing great?
Speaker 5 (17:31):
Yes?
Speaker 6 (17:31):
This year five for me on the Steelers Beat. So
right right behind you guys, and it's it's gonna be
another fun season of these Friday chats. When I'm fresh
out of the upmc rooney Sports Complex on the south
side of Pittsburgh.
Speaker 3 (17:43):
Less good. Congratulations on all your success as well, cause
he's big time. You know that goes Thank you, thank you.
Speaker 6 (17:50):
Yeah, just that, you know, just beating the pavement, you know,
doing doing journalism, the old fashioned one.
Speaker 4 (17:55):
Did you get a five year gift from your employer?
Speaker 6 (18:00):
Uh no, but I I've been at the Post Gazette
longer than five that's true.
Speaker 4 (18:04):
That's a good point. Yeah, I didn't think about that.
Speaker 6 (18:06):
I don't think I got one five years ago, and
I don't think I got a ten year one.
Speaker 2 (18:11):
But uh, I don't know.
Speaker 3 (18:13):
It's in the mills in.
Speaker 2 (18:14):
My so my wife, my wife left radio when we
moved from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh right in twenty eighteen. God
bless her, best decision she ever made. And uh, you know,
she works in the real corporate world now, and she
just had her five year anniversary with her company and
they sent her a really nice food processor as a gift.
She had a choice of like four or five different
gifts that she could pick from to be fair, so
(18:35):
she got to choose. But the one that she wanted
was she was like, oh my gosh, look at this thing.
But there was you know, there was some different things
she could choose from. One was like a portable like
fireplace type thing that was pretty cool.
Speaker 4 (18:45):
We thought I would tailgates.
Speaker 2 (18:47):
Yeah, I know, but she she wanted the food processor.
And she's the one who had the five year anniversary.
Speaker 3 (18:52):
So you know, do we get five year anniversary gifts here?
Speaker 2 (18:55):
Well, this is I'm asking for for this is I'm
into my sixth year as a as a as an
employee here, and you're getting pretty close to so oh man.
Speaker 4 (19:04):
I'm gonna go with a resounding no on that one.
Speaker 3 (19:07):
Unfortunately.
Speaker 5 (19:08):
All right, mister.
Speaker 6 (19:08):
Becca, guys talk about football for a living, so that
is kind of a gift in and of itself. And West,
your wife is doing something a little bit more important.
Speaker 5 (19:18):
In the grand scheme of the world. So good for her.
Speaker 4 (19:20):
Yeah, I mean, you know, and even in the uh
pantheon of.
Speaker 3 (19:23):
What we do.
Speaker 2 (19:24):
I mean, you are the real journalist. You're the one
with the boots on the ground and practices in the
locker rooms. Motz and I just sit here in the
studio and gas bag and we got to, you know,
talk to reel in the nose like yourself.
Speaker 4 (19:34):
So tell me what's going on.
Speaker 6 (19:35):
I was, I was in there poking Cam Heyward's stomach.
Speaker 4 (19:37):
I was so see you read in my mind? What's
going on with Big Cam?
Speaker 5 (19:42):
All right?
Speaker 2 (19:42):
Was it just some bad food or something. Please give
me good news about his status for Sunday.
Speaker 6 (19:48):
I actually I don't know because he was in a
little bit of a hurry, but I just said, Cam,
are you playing and he said yes, so bang. I
don't you know, if it were a food poisoning or
like any sort of stomach you'll this usually they put illness.
Speaker 2 (20:01):
So I don't know.
Speaker 6 (20:03):
That was a little strange to see yesterday. But I
guess all that matters is he's he's good. It's not
like you didn't practice yesterday, or I mean, I get
you know he didn't, but it's not like he didn't
practice at all this week. He was limited on Wednesday technically,
but obviously he was there.
Speaker 5 (20:17):
It was a rest day.
Speaker 6 (20:18):
So I don't think there's a ton of concern with him.
Maybe a little bit more with his running made up
front Larry Ogan Joby, who don't believe he spoke to
the media today afterwards, probably going to get some treatment
on that on that foot of his So you know,
we'll see what happens with Larry Ogan Joby. But I
(20:40):
tend to be encouraged that he was even limited this week, all.
Speaker 3 (20:44):
Right, I like that. I like that right there, if
he is unavailable, what do you think the plan of
attack will be in terms of those younger players, the
de Marvin Leos, the uh cheez, I'm jowing to blank
on my man? Oh my good? Would yeah aaa allow
him looking company like that Keanu Bittens and stuff.
Speaker 6 (21:04):
Yeah, I mean I'll pull Mike Toma. I don't do hypotheticals,
but I'm just kidding it. Ogan Joby can't go. Uh yeah,
I mean heavy dose of those three guys that you mentioned,
and you know you would need all hands on deck,
probably with Montrevius Adams and and even armand Watts.
Speaker 5 (21:21):
So they do have a deep room. And that's what TJ.
Speaker 6 (21:24):
Watt was talking about afterward, that you know they feel
good about the.
Speaker 5 (21:28):
The younger players there.
Speaker 6 (21:29):
I do think Keanu Benton is somebody who you know,
coming into camp, I wasn't sure if he was gonna,
you know, be be brought along slowly or ready to
roll from the jump. And I lean more towards he's
ready to roll from the jump if if they want
to use him a lot at that defensive tackle or
even those tackle spots. So you know, obviously you want
Ogan Joby up there. He's a large powerful man who
(21:50):
needs to be accounted for. It needs to be double
team at times, or else he's going to push the
the guard and the center back into the pocket. He's
gonna make it difficult on your running back to find
a hole. He's gonna make it difficult on brock Purty
to step up and throw. But you know, if he
can't go, I think they've got some other horses who've
got some juice and the depth would be tested early
(22:12):
on in week one, but I think they could answer
that belt.
Speaker 2 (22:15):
Brian Becko of The Post Gazette with us here on
the Steelers Blitz on SNR and nine to seventy ESPN, Pittsburgh.
Mister Baco, there's some five star matchups in this in
this contest all over the.
Speaker 6 (22:29):
Fielding you guys before you called me up, job of
breaking him down.
Speaker 2 (22:33):
It's I tell you what if if we ever went,
if we ever win a Marconi or whatever the heck
we can win in this business, it'll be because of
Motsi's five star Friday.
Speaker 3 (22:41):
It'll be because you're good here. Stop playing, mister Baco.
Speaker 2 (22:45):
Alex high Smith, mister Trent Williams, you got the new
money against the potential I think future gold jacket guy.
There are a lot of different like party in Pickett
is a thing to keep an eye on, but those
guys aren't competing head to head right. Some of the
matchups that Motzi broke down potentially in the secondary with
George Pickens, we'll see those off and on. It's gonna
(23:05):
be every single play good on good between these two.
And I gotta think that this is a big test
for Alex high Smith, one of the best left tackles
he's probably ever gone against. In the first game since
he got his payday.
Speaker 5 (23:19):
Yeah, no doubt.
Speaker 6 (23:20):
I mean, these are the players that you measure yourself
against if you're something.
Speaker 5 (23:23):
You know, if you're any player, but especially somebody like
high Smith who coming off of.
Speaker 6 (23:27):
A breakout season getting the contract extension, and yeah, frankly,
it's it's time to prove that you were worth that
money and that you know you're not gonna, you know,
fall off now that you got paid. So the Steelers
really haven't had issues with that.
Speaker 5 (23:41):
TJ. Watt came back at his best season after the
big new deal. Mike I.
Speaker 6 (23:44):
Fitzpatrick came back had his best season after the big
new deal. So I think you know that's kind of
it works both ways. You pay players that you believe
in to do things like that, but also I think
players maybe there's something to having that peace of mind
that it's done and it's taken care of and you
feel very secure in your future. All that being said,
(24:06):
none of it helps get around the behemoth that is
Trent Williams, that left tackle who can move the way
he does, a huge reason why the forty nine ers
have become such a juggernaut offensively over the last few years,
kind of regardless of who they have at Cubes. So,
I mean, it is going to be a difficult matchup
for him. You know, I think he'll win his fair
share of reps, but nobody really wins more than they
(24:26):
lose against Trent Williams.
Speaker 5 (24:28):
It's it's gonna have to be a game for TJ.
Speaker 6 (24:30):
Watt to just absolutely put Colton mckivitz in the blend.
Speaker 3 (24:35):
You know that Hey, that that west guy right there.
It's his favorite right tackle in all of football. That's
what he told.
Speaker 2 (24:42):
Jill.
Speaker 6 (24:42):
I believe because he's from that little part of I mean,
he went to dubb We don't hold against him, but
he's from Ohio and he's from that pocket like down
by Wheeling.
Speaker 5 (24:55):
Technically, absolutely, it's like a tentacle of Pittsburgh in a
lot of ways.
Speaker 3 (25:02):
Well, it's good, it's good.
Speaker 1 (25:04):
That'll be a.
Speaker 6 (25:06):
Cool experience for Colton mckivitz at least until number ninety. Uh,
you know, puts him on his backside once or twice.
But yeah, it'll be interesting. You know, all these guys
are pros. Mckivitz's uh, he's got to be ready to roll.
He's got to be confident in his ability. But we've
seen highly paid, all.
Speaker 5 (25:25):
Pro eight ten year tackles not be able to handle
number ninety. Because good luck to the young man who
made one start last season.
Speaker 3 (25:33):
I love how you put that right there, so elegantly
and with a lot of with all due respect on it.
I caught the due respect that you were putting out there,
you know.
Speaker 6 (25:41):
So that's absolutely whatever I want to you.
Speaker 3 (25:46):
You know, I grew with it now absolutely So the
last thing that I have for you is this, It's
finally gonna be Week one. It's finally gonna be the
regular season, and after after the opener, it is gonna
lose a little bit of that zing of what I'm
going to ask you. But the thing I need to
know right now is what is Kenny Pickett going to
(26:07):
end the season with? Stat wise? Man, is he over
thirty five hundred passing yards? Is he three to one
touchdown to interception ratio? Or are we less than thirty
five hundred passing hoards and we are less than three
to one touchdown interception ratio.
Speaker 6 (26:22):
I'm gonna split the difference on that one and say
thirty five hundred teams a little bit steep for what this.
Speaker 5 (26:27):
Team is built to do.
Speaker 6 (26:28):
Plus, I mean, you get into these November December January
games in the AFC North, it's you don't really want
to be throwing the ball a ton, so you cap
it a little bit. I think just due to some
some of those factors. And again, you know, Najie Harris
is back there, rare to go. Honestly, I think I'm
getting a little bit more optimistic about Nausey the closer
(26:51):
we get to this thing. I didn't think you looked
great in camp, and obviously those first two preseason games
he was. He was kind of kept on ice a
little bit, but pounded that one in in Atlanta.
Speaker 5 (27:01):
And just the more I've seen him even just walking
around the locker.
Speaker 6 (27:03):
Room, like talking to him on Wednesday in a little
scrum after practice. The guy looks like he's in great shape.
So maybe maybe he's gonna have kind of a I
don't want to say, like a resurgence because he was
he ran for more than a thousand last year. But
how about this, Maybe he has a faster start than.
Speaker 5 (27:19):
He's in twenty two. So I think all those Indian
you know, you still got to let Jen Moran do
his thing occasionally.
Speaker 6 (27:25):
So I think that Kenny Pickett, you know, the three
thousand dish range, to me, is is probably more like
where he's gonna end up. But the touchdown the interception
ratio is the way bigger factor I think. And you know,
I do think a little bit too much got made
of the you know, the ratio last year, and everybody
throws out how few touchdown passes.
Speaker 5 (27:44):
That he had as a rookie.
Speaker 6 (27:46):
To me, I think that's like antiquated statistical type stuff.
I mean, who cares how you score the touchdowns as
long as you're scoring them. Now, the Steelers didn't do
enough of.
Speaker 5 (27:54):
That last year.
Speaker 6 (27:55):
But that is a little bit separate from the conversation
of how many touchdown does Picket throw. As long as
you're leading touchdown drives, that's all that matters.
Speaker 3 (28:04):
Talk gil talk talk kill talk.
Speaker 6 (28:06):
I still think I still think he can get to
that three to one for sure, something like eighteen.
Speaker 5 (28:12):
To six, you know, twenty four to eight.
Speaker 6 (28:16):
I think those are well within reason for Pickett as
a guy who's been really good at taking care of
the ball and should be more precise in that high
red area even down to the goal line in year two.
Speaker 4 (28:27):
I dig it, there we go.
Speaker 2 (28:29):
I take it all right, mister bachel Before we let
you go, Stillers Nina's one PM Sunday acrossre Stadium.
Speaker 3 (28:38):
Now, all that positive equity you just built it with
all the power grid in the megawats you've been talking
and giving us all it is good insight. Now this
where he goes hill On is absolutely your prediction for Sunday.
Speaker 6 (28:51):
Do you guys know what I usually do. I usually
come in as the wet blankets.
Speaker 5 (28:57):
You know. I do think these are two evenly matched teams.
I'll say that much. I think it's gonna be a
very good game.
Speaker 6 (29:04):
I think the Steelers are one of the few teams
around the league who can kind of match the supporting
cast star power that the Niners have around their second
year quarterback.
Speaker 5 (29:14):
But I think San Francis Bill might just have a
litter here. I'll say this. I'll say this.
Speaker 6 (29:20):
Steelers were five and two last year in games decided
by three points or less.
Speaker 5 (29:25):
I think it's gonna be that kind of game. And
I think you can't.
Speaker 6 (29:28):
Count on the clutch always being there for you. Maybe
the clutch stalls out late in this one. I've got
Niners twenty three, Steelers twenty oh.
Speaker 3 (29:38):
He got a week win. Show job. I hear you
missed the back. I hear you, baby.
