Speaker 1 (00:05):
Stueler and Motes are on the air. This is the
Steeler's Blitz on your twenty four to seven home of
the Black and Gold. Leskan are Steelers Nation Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
Our number two of the blitz. Here on Steelers Nation Radios,
we continue to commiserate and look forward and talk about
that unfortunate Week one result there at home yesterday. But
with the context of that it is is just one
result and we've still got all. Curly says, it's stuff.
Sixteen rounds to go in this boxing match here, trying
to get somebody nod all the way out.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
Now here's a good one to get us started.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
In a second hour, Chris tweets us and says, Arthur,
what does today look like? Does the team show up
and watch film? Do they just get treatment? You've been
in those meetings in these times? What tone will Tomlin
take when they review?

Speaker 4 (01:23):
Same tone as if they would have won. It's one game, baby.
You show up on Monday, though, because you're not at victory.
Monday's question.

Speaker 5 (01:30):
That's for like when you're playoff stuff like that.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
Man.

Speaker 4 (01:33):
But yeah, you show up and you're like, all right,
we took one in the chin. What did we do well?
What didn't we do well, what do we need to
expand upon, what do we need to minimize? And then
ultimately is it time for personnel changes in the sense
of like usage starters, like that type of stuff. Yeah,
so that's ultimately how it goes. You have the tough conversations,

(01:55):
but at the same time, we're speaking from a stance
of we're not trying to push it intive, nor are
we trying to make ourselves seem smarter or righter. We
are just simply in here saying this is the common goal.
Put your feelings and your pride to the side. If
you didn't make the place you were supposed to make,
and I call you out, do not get defensive, Do

(02:15):
not have an attitude? No, because that's the reason why
we in this situation, and we're gonna be in here
even longer if you continue to act like that. But
if I call you out and your response is I
respect that I hear what you're saying, I'm gonna get
mine right, then we go ahead, we move forward, and
vice versa. If you see me slacking in any way,

(02:36):
shape or form, you do the same, because if you
love me, you're gonna do that.

Speaker 5 (02:40):
Sure, If you're just a fan of me.

Speaker 2 (02:42):
Though.

Speaker 5 (02:42):
You're gonna tell me everything is great.

Speaker 4 (02:43):
You're gonna blame everybody else and have me out here
thinking that I had nothing stink over here and I'm
over here putting on some bad stuff. So when we
go in there today, that's honestly the mindset.

Speaker 5 (02:53):
Man. Yeah, put your ego, put your pride to the side.

Speaker 6 (02:55):
Man.

Speaker 4 (02:56):
You might want to put a hoodie on because you
might be on that tape more than you would like.
But other than that, man, you listen and whatever the
corrections are, whatever the.

Speaker 5 (03:06):
Message is, you take it to heart.

Speaker 4 (03:09):
If you want to not have another performance like this,
sure or kicker.

Speaker 5 (03:14):
Or you say, I know it all. I got the answers, man,
we should have fired this. Do it anyways?

Speaker 4 (03:19):
Man? We all right, and then we'll be having the
same conversation next week and it'll be hey, are we
gonna do it now or are we gonna wait a
third week? Because that is how the NFL works. One
loss becomes three losses really quick, real quick. If you
allow yourself to seek comfort, if you allow yourself to
point the fingers, if you allow yourself to minimize responsibility
for certain people. Yeah, real quick, you'll look up and

(03:41):
be like, man, how the heck we five down out
how to happen?

Speaker 2 (03:44):
And as you know as well too, you know we
talked a little bit about that Zeke Elliott Cowboys.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
You guys were what four and five at that point
after that game.

Speaker 5 (03:53):
I think that's accurate.

Speaker 3 (03:55):
Would you finish that year, Arthur Max?

Speaker 5 (03:58):
What double digit wins?

Speaker 3 (03:59):
Yep?

Speaker 5 (03:59):
Twelve something like that? Right, nice little playoff run.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
I don't cry if you lost another game until the
AFC Championship.

Speaker 5 (04:05):
That is that sounds about accurate. Man.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
So not only can one loss turn into three losses
real quick, one win can turn into rattling them off
real quick as.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
Well, too.

Speaker 5 (04:14):
Goes both ways, does it not? Man?

Speaker 2 (04:15):
It certainly does. But that's why you got to attack
it with the right mentality, with the right humility. In
some cases as well, too, is moti outlines there.

Speaker 4 (04:24):
Because it's less about who's right and who's wrong, and
it's more so about we are trying to collectively do
this thing. And I think that's what separates at times
fans slash media from the players. Fans media have individual objectives. Yes,
we love the Steelers, but we're all personally trying to
do our own agenda. My player is right, my coordinator

(04:47):
is this. My team is better because of that. Whereas
when the team is talking, it's like, Bro, does it
matter if TJ got twenty sacks orf TJ has zero sacks.

Speaker 5 (04:57):
If we win the game, that's all that matters. Right.
That's some of the convo.

Speaker 4 (05:03):
They gets mixed up though, between in house players versus
when you talk all the different shift it just comes
through media.

Speaker 3 (05:09):
Some of the fans want it to be on Kenny Pickett.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
They want Kenny to go out there and light it
up and you know, be an MVP candidate because that's
what they predicted and that's what they want to see.
Some people want to see the Steelers go out there
and run the football fifty times and play smash mouth
defense right and win seventeen to four with two safe.

Speaker 3 (05:28):
I don't know how we got the four.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
I was trying to be clever there for a second
because I was thinking all the defense got for but
then the d it would have been the other defense. Yeah,
I just seventeen to three. They want the Steelers to
win right and control the game of the line of
scrimmage and play dominating defense. That that doesn't matter though,
in the confines of the or at least it shouldn't matter.
Better not matter in the confines of those four walls
down on the south side. The locker room, the film,

(05:51):
all that stuff. It's about getting right. It's about getting
the w in the in the record column here starting
Monday night against Cleveland, and getting ready for the challenge
that the brands will present here as well. Let's let's
take one more phone call before we go to break here.
Eddie in Virginia Beach, Arthur Motz.

Speaker 5 (06:09):
The crib, the crib on the line.

Speaker 3 (06:12):
What's up, Eddie calling from Virginia Beach.

Speaker 6 (06:14):
That's how y'all doing today?

Speaker 2 (06:16):
Man?

Speaker 5 (06:16):
Life is good, man, how are you though?

Speaker 6 (06:19):
I'm fine, man, I'm just I look at him like this, fellas.
Football is football, man. We weren't on.

Speaker 7 (06:25):
Our best game last yesterday. Hope we are bounced back. Man.
You know, I got faith in coach t I got
faith in the team, and I just you know, it's
so sad that you have to argue which your old
Sam based wanting to fire Tomblin?

Speaker 4 (06:41):
Crazy right, crazy?

Speaker 6 (06:45):
All right? I got a nephew that plays for j
m U.

Speaker 5 (06:47):
Go dudes, what's his name.

Speaker 4 (06:52):
It's all good, all right, all right you said Tye,
right ty yeah, ty Okay, okay, Yeah, I'm come out there.

Speaker 5 (07:00):
Let's go heck you Yeah.

Speaker 8 (07:05):
I like that.

Speaker 4 (07:06):
And they're coming off a very impressive win over UV
this past weekend.

Speaker 5 (07:09):
Let's go on the road.

Speaker 3 (07:12):
Yeah, Eddie, No, you're you're right.

Speaker 2 (07:14):
It's like I know again, I've I've laid this out,
but I know football is a very reactionary sport. We
get one game a week, we only get seventeen of them.
We wait months and months and months for this. But yeah,
let's not fire anybody yet. Let's not retire anybody yet.
Let's not trade anybody yet. Let's let's uh, let's give
them a little bit of a leash to get this
thing moving in the right direction.

Speaker 5 (07:34):
Not a long leash, but just enough enough, just enough,
you know.

Speaker 6 (07:38):
But it's a you know, if you sit there and
look at the game, it was like you said, O, bro,
we missed a lot of open receivers. We didn't tackle well,
I mean, we just didn't play a big game at all. Period.
That's not on the coaching. That's on the players.

Speaker 5 (07:55):
Execution, got execute, that's it.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
That's what the that's a whole lot of money too,
in the case of some of those guys. Eddy, great stuff, partner,
Thank you, we appreciate it. We'll talk to you soon.

Speaker 3 (08:09):
Let's go.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
In Virginia Beach. First time caller. Love it like getting
some new voices. Here.

Speaker 4 (08:15):
You go to the next whole lot of money concert,
A lot of money. I heard you could meet the
performer potentially, man.

Speaker 3 (08:20):
That's what I've heard. I'm good on that though. All right,
although you know those those those alligator pants or what
are those snake skin pythons whatever.

Speaker 5 (08:30):
That he's throwing around, Definitely crocodile.

Speaker 2 (08:33):
I'll tell you what, if you're if you're an ambitious person, right,
you could you probably don't have to pay a ton
of money for a ticket to a mister Big Chess concert.

Speaker 5 (08:42):
Is there a possibility you could get them?

Speaker 3 (08:44):
You could.

Speaker 2 (08:44):
Then you could get those crocodile or those alligator, those
python pants or whatever that and you could probably flip
those for a night. You could make money by going
to the A.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
B Show. That's all what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (08:53):
Any young entrepreneurs out there that are looking that are
looking for a hustle, we gotta get to a break here,
more calls, more reactions, more thought. On the other side,
Wesley Uler, Arthur Motes, It's the Steelers Blitz on s
n R.

Speaker 1 (09:28):
This is the Steeler's Blitz with Wesley Euler and Arthur
Motes on your twenty four to seven Home of the
Black and Gold s n R.

Speaker 2 (09:38):
Blitzing here on a Monday, trying to keep the mood upbeat,
trying to keep everyone in it listened last night stunk
all right, Mozy, How did you deal with your sorrows
last night? Did you go home and watch more football?

Speaker 5 (09:50):
Yeah? I cut the tape on it, lean in right away. Yeah,
I don't right, look at you. Who else was I
gonna watch? You know what I got? I got action
to night?

Speaker 3 (09:58):
But you know, oh, I know your boys played at night.

Speaker 4 (10:02):
I got two sets of technically three. My daughter reminded
me of that. She's like, no, Dad, don't forget the
third team. You got three teams as well. I was like,
you're right, I forgot the Cardinals.

Speaker 2 (10:09):
Shout at the Dobs Dobbs, my dog, It is Tennessee's finest.
Josh Dobbs are all of our favorite rocket scientists.

Speaker 3 (10:18):
Come on here.

Speaker 2 (10:20):
I drowned my sorrows. At Big Shot Bob's, I picked
up picked up a dozen wings.

Speaker 3 (10:24):
In an order of fries.

Speaker 4 (10:25):
On the way home, I did wings. They did have wings,
but I did have had wings. While rewatching the game,
I was like, I gotta get into this.

Speaker 2 (10:30):
Here's here's what always happens. Right for the one o'clock games.
I leave my house at like seven thirty seven forty
five in the morning for the one o'clock games. Right,
so I'm not like getting up and having breakfast or anything,
you know, I'm having a cup of coffee, I'm getting ready,
I'm trying to help get the girls out of bed,
and I'm hitting the road. So when that food comes
out in the Steelers press box about ten thirty eleven

(10:52):
o'clock usually right, oh, they had they had, they had,
They had brisk they had brisket Motzi.

Speaker 3 (10:59):
This week, they had Italian hogies.

Speaker 2 (11:02):
They had breakfast like bacon, egg and cheese, breakfast biscuits.

Speaker 4 (11:06):
As I told y'all, there is only one big time
or on this show, and y'all listening to him describe
his spread.

Speaker 3 (11:12):
But at least Arthur Motes has a key to the building. Now,
they had.

Speaker 5 (11:15):
Only because of this Guy's salad.

Speaker 3 (11:17):
Salad bar, not Joe Bar sert bar.

Speaker 2 (11:22):
So normally by the time it gets to be like ten,
it's usually about ten thirty ten forty five when.

Speaker 3 (11:27):
They put out the food for one o'clock games.

Speaker 2 (11:29):
At that point, I haven't had anything to eat the
whole day, and I've been you know, I've been working
at this point already for like two hours. And usually
at this point all of our setup and our testing
and all that is done and we're just kind of
waiting until the pregame starts.

Speaker 5 (11:41):
So you hangry by now.

Speaker 2 (11:42):
So I'm angry, see, I mean, this guy knows me well,
doesn't he. So I go and get a massive play
to food and usually a second round. Right Like, I
went and I went to the brisket carving station twice.
I had an Italian HOGI I had a bacon, egg
and cheese biscuit for breakfast, and then I went back
and even had a little salad to close it all down.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
Daddies also had.

Speaker 2 (12:01):
A Hershey Bar cupcake at ten forty five in the
morning on the Lord's Day. Wow.

Speaker 3 (12:09):
Usually that only happens when you're a good kid in Sunday.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
School and living living. Yeah, I may have gone back
for a time. I'm not gonna like make it seem
like I'm I might have gone back for a tiny
little thing of nachos. Not I'm not.

Speaker 3 (12:22):
I'm not Joey Chestnut, all right, I'm not.

Speaker 2 (12:24):
At this point, I was stuffed, Okay, So I'm ful
for I'm good after that. I'm good for a long
time after two portions of brisket and an Italian hogi
and a bacon egg and cheese and some salad and
even a little Nacho's and a dessert.

Speaker 3 (12:37):
Oh yeah, I'm good for a long time.

Speaker 2 (12:39):
But then it gets to be like seven when I'm
driving home and it all just hits me at once,
and I get hunger. It's like my body's like, all right,
we haven't eight and in eight hours, what's going on? Me?

Speaker 5 (12:49):
Feed me?

Speaker 3 (12:50):
So my answer was I'm gonna get some big shot Bob's.
Oh yeah, I'm gonna go watch this Giants Cowboys game.
And then that game was very not.

Speaker 2 (12:57):
Competitive as well too, and so I ended up just
Netflix instead.

Speaker 5 (13:01):
Let's go Yeah.

Speaker 9 (13:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (13:02):
I did flip to that for like a little while,
and I was like, yep, this is bad, but it
was beautiful to see Mike Parsons's see my dog Gilmore
shout out the Gilly to.

Speaker 2 (13:10):
Kid, right like that Cowboys defense might be pretty good.
We're talking about top five defenses in the league.

Speaker 3 (13:14):
It could be one of them.

Speaker 5 (13:16):
I mean for it to be their first showing for
this season.

Speaker 3 (13:19):
That's the context though, Right, it was a day they executed.

Speaker 5 (13:22):
Yeah, it's really really good to see for a four
year one, a year.

Speaker 2 (13:25):
One they won some people their fantasy football matchups, and
we don't often say that about.

Speaker 5 (13:28):
A defense, the defense that might have done that.

Speaker 2 (13:35):
Mostly every Friday, one thing we have to do here
before we move on, get the final reactions, final thoughts.
Here in the final half an hour of the show.
Every Friday, Right, we do a little thing here on
this program, show Me the Money, where I just give
you some of my favorite bets of the weekend. Usually
it's mostly NFL. Every once in a while throw a
college game in there as well, to college football game.

(13:58):
Sometimes I picked four games, sometimes I pick seven games.
Sometimes I picked two games. It just depends on this.

Speaker 3 (14:04):
I picked the.

Speaker 2 (14:05):
Spreads that I like, the ones that stand out to me.
We keep track of my record throughout the year here
as well, Right, well, Mozi Week one results. Okay, uh.
First of all, I said I liked the Vikings to
cover against the Buccaneers. Not only did the Vikings not
cover Arthur Motes, they lost straight up.

Speaker 5 (14:25):
It was interesting, man, it was interesting.

Speaker 3 (14:27):
Paker Mayfield, we've we've always said we're big fans. That
is here on the show.

Speaker 2 (14:32):
So I got a couple of different we're gonna workshop
these all right, I got some wrong buzzers here for you.
So I said the Vikings would cover against Tampa Bay.

Speaker 3 (14:42):
Okay, that's pretty solid. That's like a classic elite buzz
that's a classic game show buzzer right there.

Speaker 2 (14:48):
Okay, But I did say take the Packers money line
as slight underdogs against the Bears. Right, boy, did I
get that one? Big brain on Brad. So one, we're
at this point, save the wrong buzz I have to
get like a Chichen buzzer. Let's listen, we're work shopping
in here as we go along. Then my third pick,
so we're one and one. My third pick was that

(15:09):
the Broncos would cover versus the Raiders Arthur Motes.

Speaker 3 (15:13):
Not only do the Broncos not cover, they lost.

Speaker 5 (15:15):
That's because you don't respect Jimmy Garoppolo.

Speaker 3 (15:17):
To the Raiders.

Speaker 2 (15:18):
So because you're the same one, you're Sean Peyton labeled
differently in the system.

Speaker 8 (15:25):
That's the same buzzer we just heard. That's a good
buzz because, yeah, you believe the hype that you were
like yea one side kick to start the game. Actually,
really super Bowl, it's gonna work it good sound, good.

Speaker 2 (15:39):
Hot start for the Broncos. Then from there it was
all downhill. Let's see if this wrong buzzer is different.

Speaker 3 (15:44):
That's all this.

Speaker 2 (15:45):
Why do we have three different buzzers in our system
and they're all the same exact thing. Unbelievable. So I'm
one and two. But Motes's favorite team the Philadelphia Eagles.

Speaker 3 (15:57):
You see what I did there?

Speaker 5 (16:00):
Crazy?

Speaker 2 (16:00):
They covered against the Patriots, so they got me to
five hundred.

Speaker 3 (16:05):
So I went too and two in week one, Arthur
Motes five hundred.

Speaker 5 (16:08):
That's because you've been on the wrong teens.

Speaker 1 (16:09):
Man.

Speaker 5 (16:09):
You know, if if you want to win something tonight, man,
it ain't hard. It ain't hard.

Speaker 1 (16:15):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (16:15):
Yes, thoughts on that big, big decisive victory for the
Bills this evening before we go to break here.

Speaker 3 (16:20):
Yeah, win, that's all the matters right, media.

Speaker 4 (16:24):
And fans care about the science of and all these
other words that make it sound cool.

Speaker 3 (16:27):
Slice is a big word.

Speaker 5 (16:28):
Just win.

Speaker 4 (16:29):
I just want the one to know because, in the
words of my friend Wesley Euler, they don't ask.

Speaker 2 (16:33):
How, they ask how many.

Speaker 5 (16:36):
So I don't care what it like.

Speaker 3 (16:37):
Just get the dumb.

Speaker 5 (16:37):
Just get the dumb. That's it.

Speaker 2 (16:39):
One more break to get to here on the other side,
it's all your reaction. We've got a dozen tweets to
get to, a couple of phone calls as well, and uh,
we'll close down with your reaction. We return Wesley Yuler,
Arthur Motes Steelers Blitz on nine to seventy ESPN and
sn R.

Speaker 1 (17:21):
This is the Steeler's Blitz with Wesley Euler and Arthur
Motes on your twenty four to seven Home of the
Black and Gold.

Speaker 5 (17:29):
S n R.

Speaker 2 (17:31):
You know, folks, sometimes truth is stranger than fiction. Right,
listen to me getting all philosophical. You know, Motzi and
I we have the funny back and forth. It's been
one of the inside jokes on the show for a while,
right about Motzi saying, you know, I'm the big shot
on the show. I'm the only reason he gets in
the building, you know, and then I make my reports

(17:52):
and all those different things. Well, Motzy, you know, saying
because I'm the big shot, because you know, he's only
in the building with the security card because he knows me.
In that previous segment, muggs, he's now out of here
because he's doing Steelers TV. I mean, who's the big
shot now, huh? The one who's stuck here on radio
with his face for radio or the one who's going

(18:15):
to do Steelers television on Steelers dot Com. So much
to all of your disappointment, but you've just got Eyuler
here for the final segment as as Motes, I mean,
last time I checked. I know he's talented, but he
cannot be two places at once. So look for his
beautiful mug on Steelers dot Com a little bit later on.

(18:35):
But that's okay because we have about five billion tweets
and some phone calls to get to to close us
down here on this program today, So let's go ahead
and just get into it. Big Ron tweets and says,
is it too early to be concerned about the cornerback position?
Or were the forty nine Ers just a bad matchup?

Speaker 3 (18:55):
You know?

Speaker 2 (18:55):
Big Ron It's a great question, maybe a little bit
of both. Let's give we don't do this as sports fans.
We only care about our team. We only criticize and
kind of evaluate our team. Right, But the forty nine
Ers are a good football team. There's a reason why.
You know, every year since twenty nineteen they've been contenders.

(19:16):
They've been to a super Bowl, they've been to a
handful of NFC Championship games. Yes, obviously they have not
climbed that summit with this group, but they've done about
everything else that you can do. Kind of in that
same territory with the Bengals, right, Although the Niners organization
much different history than the one in Cincinnati. But they've
got a great roster. You know, Mike mentioned that earlier.

(19:36):
The other team has good players too. Sometimes the other
team's players are better than yours. Even the other team
also has a coaching staff that is an offense or
a head coach. I should say that is an offensive guru.
And you saw some of that yesterday. I mean that offense.
Those guys have continuity together. That's a big part of
it as well too. The Steelers offense still trying to

(19:58):
grow together. Right, Offense more continuity, more familiarity, guys that
have been there for a while. Their running back Christian
McCaffrey led the league in yards after catch last season.
Their tight end George Kittle was second in the league
in yards after catch, or I should say at their
positions part of me. McCaffrey most yards after catch of
any running back in the league, Kittle second most yack

(20:20):
of any tight end in the league behind Travis Kelcey
obviously Deebo Samuel first in the league in yak last season.
These guys know the system, they know the coach, and
they're really darn talented. Ayuk deserves a shout in there
as well too. They've got the best left tackle of
the last you know, decade in Old Trent there on

(20:40):
the left side. So the forty nine Ers were I
think a bad matchup for the Steelers secondary to start right,
Patrick Peterson, you know two of your key four pieces
in that secondary or new faces. Patrick Peterson's new I
should say maybe three of five if you want to say,
Kean O'Neil and Demonta kay Z.

Speaker 3 (21:00):
Yeah, Menka's back, Levi Wallace's back.

Speaker 2 (21:02):
Those guys also didn't get a ton of work together
in training camp or the preseason due to different injuries
and absences as well. So when you combine a talented
Niners offense that is all on the same page and
well drilled, with the fact that the Steelers secondary was
trying to figure some things out there, maybe that's part
of the bad matchup side. But I didn't think Levi

(21:23):
Wallace had his greatest game. I didn't think Patrick Peterson,
certainly and his you know, Hall of Fame type of career,
had his greatest game. I don't think that's still how
the Steelers hope their secondary plays out, though. I think
they as soon as they feel Joey Porter Junior's up
to speed, he goes to the outside. Patrick Peterson bumps inside.
I don't think what we saw yesterday was anywhere close

(21:44):
to the final product either.

Speaker 3 (21:45):
That's probably the best way to put it there.

Speaker 2 (21:47):
Big run, so a little bit of both, I, you know,
motes and I we have the if we got new
listeners here, we do this thing throughout the season. We
call it the CCWP meter. Okay, are you calm, are
you concerned? Are you worried? Or are you panicked? CCWP
on Steelers cornerbacks. I'm between calm and concerned. I'm not

(22:12):
concerned yet, but I'm not completely calm either. But I'm
still very low on that Richter scale, if you will.
But good question there, big Ron.

Speaker 3 (22:20):
I like it.

Speaker 2 (22:20):
I think Big Ron's the first time tweeter and if
that's the case, tweet us again. Big Rond have our
photoshop at short and air here on the show tweets.
Definitely don't think we're as good as the preseason might
have let on. But I don't believe we're as bad
as we looked yesterday either. Our fan base needs to
calm the bleep down.

Speaker 3 (22:39):
Lol.

Speaker 2 (22:41):
You're never as good as you think you are. You're
never as bad as you think you are. You're somewhere
in between. You took one on the chin last night.
You certainly are not that bad. How good are the
Steelers going to be? We're still going to see throughout
the year and they've got you know what, that's the
best part too. I'm I'm glad it's Cleveland on Monday
night coming to akerschur Stadium this week, because you know,

(23:04):
if you're playing one of these teams that doesn't have
the same if you're playing Tennessee or you're playing Arizona
or you're playing Indianapolis, right, some of the teams that
are currently perceived as a lesser on the Steelers schedule. Yeah,
it's still an opportunity to go out there and get
a W. And it's the National Football League, and every
team's good and all those different things. But it's Cleveland.
It's the Brons. They're one to zero, they're feeling great.

(23:28):
They're also a divisional foe that you don't want to
fall two games behind two two weeks into the season.
So I love that it's the Browns on Monday night.
The only game on the attention of the football world
and of the sporting world will be at Akersher Stadium
on Monday night when the Steelers host Cleveland. It's a
good test for these guys to get right back at it,
right back into the fire in a way, and let's

(23:51):
see the water find that level.

Speaker 5 (23:53):
Right.

Speaker 2 (23:54):
We know you're not that bad as you showed yesterday.
How good can you be? Let's start finding out Monday
night against Cleveland. Wallace tweets and says I'm already tired
of the fire. Everybody, crowd. Yes, our boys failed yesterday.
Yes there'll be more failures they'll be success. It's one game.
I agree with Professor Motes. Preseason might have been too easy.
Some people had unreal realistic expectations due to that that.

(24:17):
I don't know if I too easy is an interesting
way to paint at their wallace. But it went maybe
too smoothly is maybe how I would reward that if
I were doing it. They rolled in preseason, first team offense,
five or five touchdown drives, defense shutting people down three games.

(24:37):
Then we can talk about against what string players were
they playing, and how motivated was buffal all these different things.
But the one thing that I think we can all
agree on is that throughout training camp in the preseason
there wasn't much adversity in that regard. Things went pretty
smoothly for them. Hey, a smooth seed never made a
skilled sailor. Right, Let's see how they navigate this thing.

(24:58):
Angry Bike Lane tweets and says he doesn't think Matt
Canada bathed himself in glory, but pretty low on a
list of potential problems, the offensive players were the main problem.
Lack of execution and the defense giving up a first
down on third and long tail as old as time. Yeah,
that that is one of the things too. The offense.

(25:21):
It's listen, when you start like that, it's gonna be
hard to have success. But for the defense too, I
think we've gotten used to, at least particularly down the
stretch last season, when the Steelers would struggle, the defense
would find a way to keep them in games, right,
and TJ. Watt tried. But but other than that, wasn't
wasn't great in that regard. Certainly. Thrash tweets and says,

(25:42):
I think it's as simple as this. Everyone stunk, even
the field.

Speaker 3 (25:45):
It was bad. Reload and hit it hard.

Speaker 2 (25:48):
On Monday night, Steelers were doing some slipsys out there,
weren't they. You think you think the Cincinnati Bearcats sprinkled
some some some pixie dust trying to you know, Cincinnata
whole Cincinnati Pittsburgh thing on Saturday night. Maybe maybe the
Bearcats were going double agent there for the AFC North,
Jeff tweets and says, any idea why we didn't see

(26:11):
jpj as much even after the game was pretty much decided.
Do you think the team maybe got overconfident after the
hype from their preseason performances. I don't think so, because
I think those guys know the context of preseason as
well too, right, Jeff. I mean they set it in
all their all their post games, and all their interviews
throughout that process. We can only play who's in front
of us. We control what we could control. So they
knew that they weren't going up against the San Francisco

(26:32):
forty nine Ers, right, one of the handful of teams
in this league, one of the few teams in this
league I think really universally considered a Super Bowl contender.
As in terms of JPJ, again, I kind of touched
on this when I was talking about the question from
Big Ron there a few minutes ago. With the secondary,
he didn't have a ton of snaps. Clearly they I

(26:53):
think it's just they don't think he's up to speed yet.
Maybe some of the time he missed in the in
the preseason and training camp part of that. But I
do think that's the big question now in the secondary
is if when JPJ gets up the speed and then
how they really start to delegate the labor and the
responsibilities from there. Doug tweets and says, I think a

(27:15):
lot of Steelers Nation needs to cut their eyelids off.
Don't start blinking in Week one. Might need a couple
weeks for this whole team to start clicking. Hopefully we
will win while we grow. Exactly, Doug, No one's the
finished product right now. You just want to stack some
w's and and look up and be in the hunt
and in the race whenever. Hopefully you are peaking and
playing your football at the right time. Me tweets us
and says west Man professor Motz. Relax, you know so

(27:38):
much season ahead of us. Message for Steeler Nation. How
did San francisc the offense scheme guys so wide open?
Or is that the Steelers defensive fault. It's it's it's
always a combination of both, right, But again, as I
alluded to, I mean, there's a reason why Kyle Shannon,
guys like Kyle Shanahan and Sean McVay have the reputation
that they have. Right, We're gonna have to see that
Sean McVay guy here in a couple weeks too. That's
what they do. And it's it's as we know. As

(28:00):
the NFL now is constituted, it's a little slanted to
make things easier for the offense as well too. Watch
you know the rest of the season. The Steelers are
not going to be the only team that San Francisco's
offense has success against.

Speaker 3 (28:14):
I promise you that. Who has the best breakfast sandwich?

Speaker 8 (28:18):
Me?

Speaker 3 (28:19):
Also asks h McDonald's cousin.

Speaker 2 (28:22):
I mean, unless you're getting like a really good bacon,
egg and cheese on a begel from like a begel
shop or a kitchen or something. And McDonald's cousin Jason
tweets the word to describe yesterday's game is frustrating. There's
no one person or group to blame, and that won't
help us prepare for next week. I'll be at Monday
football game and I'm hoping for a different outcome. Bring
the noise, Jason, Let's go get them going, baby Cuban

(28:46):
Dan tweets any idea why Calvin Austin wasn't returning punts yesterday?
Not sure, but I thought that was maybe one of
the other positives as well too. I thought McFarland a
certainly did well in that regard. All right, let me
do one more refresh of the tweets here. Uh Wizard
of Oz tweets and says any update on Deontay or

(29:07):
Cam's injuries?

Speaker 3 (29:10):
Not sure?

Speaker 2 (29:11):
We might get some word tomorrow from Mike Tomlin and
his press conference. I don't think we'll hear anything about shookes,
because again, concussion protocol is kind of its own animal there,
its own beast. But I'm sure Mike Toman will address
those things tomorrow. And obviously we're just gonna have to
keep an eye on the practice report starting on Wednesday
and really taking a look on Thursday. I'll do another

(29:31):
refresh of the tweets before I get out of here.
Let's go back to the phone lines as well. Two though,
one in South Carolina's on the line.

Speaker 3 (29:37):
What's up?

Speaker 6 (29:37):
One here was.

Speaker 3 (29:39):
Going on, buddy, I'm good, partner, how are you?

Speaker 6 (29:43):
Hey, I'm doing good.

Speaker 7 (29:44):
I just want to say yeah, like you guys will saying,
it's this one game.

Speaker 6 (29:49):
I mean, these guys.

Speaker 9 (29:50):
Start got to learn each other, the chemistry and things
like that.

Speaker 6 (29:54):
And also and like I was two of the old
forget early.

Speaker 4 (29:57):
I was in forty ninetion yesterday ragged me all day,
So I told him keep that see.

Speaker 5 (30:03):
Him in detail. You never know, y'all.

Speaker 9 (30:05):
Might they might get.

Speaker 6 (30:06):
A key injury or something collapse, so.

Speaker 3 (30:09):
Hey, it could change.

Speaker 2 (30:10):
That's the beauty in the in the pain of football
right one. It can all change very rapidly. But I'll
tell you this too. You'll laugh. I when I was
leaving the stadium seven o'clock last night, I'm leaving the stadium,
I'm walking to my car, and there was a group
of Niners fans still tailgating and like waving their flags
and being obnoxious, and they tried trash talking me as
I was going to get in my car, and I'm like,

(30:33):
I'm dressed up. You know, I'm wearing like dress, not
dress clothes, but you know, like I've got on a
polo and khakis and I'm carrying a laptop bag. And
I'm like, guys, guys, do I look like the kind
of guy that I just worked for twelve hours? All right,
leave me alone. I'm not trying to get involved in
your trash talk. So it was rough out there one,
but we'll get through it together.

Speaker 3 (30:50):
Buddy.

Speaker 2 (30:51):
I'm gonna bounce here because I want to get to
one last caller, our guy cr CR Buddy, I got
like ninety seconds till I got to go to Brank.

Speaker 3 (30:58):
Talk to me.

Speaker 9 (31:00):
Oh man, ninety seconds. Well, brother, First of all, my
first time in Pittsburgh got a home game. I was
very very pumped up. We talked about fifty years. I
was very very disappointed because of what happened at summer
camp and training and you know, being undefeated league and
like I said, after fifty years, that's excited to be here.

Speaker 3 (31:18):
And uh, but I'm.

Speaker 9 (31:19):
Gonna be here for the rest of the weeks.

Speaker 5 (31:21):
I get to watch them.

Speaker 2 (31:21):
Yeah, that's that's a good news. See, R, I am,
I'm I'm bumming for you, buddy. I know you spent
fifty years and it's your first home game and it
goes like that.

Speaker 3 (31:28):
That stinks.

Speaker 2 (31:29):
But I I think Monday, I know, I know, I
think Monday night, they're gonna get it right for you.

Speaker 3 (31:35):
Though, I do. I got faith.

Speaker 9 (31:37):
Oh and I got a chance to hang out with
most yesterday.

Speaker 3 (31:40):
He tell you about that, Oh he sure did.

Speaker 2 (31:41):
He said he met you and he met Tyler you know,
Steeler Nation nine twenty.

Speaker 9 (31:45):
So yeah, oh and that's a shout out. Hey, still
listen nine towards you and your family have a great
tip home. God bless you man. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (31:54):
Man, they're the best. They're great people. And that's hey,
see R. Maybe that's the that's the silver lining, right,
is that he though it didn't go didn't go our
way on the field, at least you at least you
still got to meet some great faces in the place right.

Speaker 9 (32:08):
Also got a chance to meet still a still little
terry you know from.

Speaker 2 (32:18):
Try to steal a true yep, yep, Hey, the stars,
the stars all come out for you. Cr you know
how it is, partner, Hey, I got a run, but
we'll talk to you this week, all right, get me
out of here the right way.

Speaker 9 (32:30):
Okay, and the main time and in between time lie
from the burg. Here we all stealers. Here we go.

Speaker 2 (32:40):
There he is our guys, c R, the unofficially official
hype man of Steelers Nation Radio. That'll do it for
me today, everybody, Thanks for calling in participating. Hopefully we
got through it together and we made you laugh once
or twice in the process as well.

Speaker 3 (32:55):
To laughter is always great in trying times like these.
Big thanks.

Speaker 2 (33:00):
I co host Arthur Motes as well too, obviously, Arthur
Nathan Motes, the third the best co host in the business.
Into all of you, power grid and mega watts. No
show tomorrow, Mike tom and press conference at this time.

final thoughts on the Niners and begin to turn the
page to those stinking Cleveland brands. Take care, everybody, enjoy

(33:21):
the rest of your day. We'll talk soon. As always,
