Speaker 1 (00:08):
I can taste the goose. Chris, have you ever had
a Christmas?
Speaker 2 (00:11):
Goose?
Speaker 3 (00:12):
I never? Have you actually had a Christmas? I never
had a Christmas? So people still do Christmas. You don't
know the goose gooses? Well?
Speaker 1 (00:18):
I mean, if you have a couple of geese, yes
for an option for dinner, it would be geese.
Speaker 3 (00:23):
Don't you write for a living? Shouldn't you know that?
But what becomes food though, I think it's a different.
I think you eat goose. It's different than a goose
that's walking around or flying through the air.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
But if there's more than one geese on the table,
cooked and prepared for you'd be I've got two geese
here for us to eat.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
Wouldn't say I got two gooses out here?
Speaker 3 (00:41):
Well, you're probably right.
Speaker 1 (00:42):
All this goose talk just makes me Miss Tony Sarah
Goose held a pit buddy love.
Speaker 3 (00:47):
You remember goose gossage she was a four pirate because
he did. I don't.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
Now we're into athletes that canote goose. His name is
Canote goose geese whatever ducks.
Speaker 2 (00:59):
What a weird thing right?
Speaker 1 (01:00):
Like in that in the Christmas Carol, Christmas a goose
like no one eats a goose. Did they eat goose
back then?
Speaker 3 (01:06):
A lot a lot more people eat duck, right, Yeah,
that's a big thing. Yeah, But I don't think i've Yeah,
I've never I've never had a goose that can. Can
you go to Giant Eagle and buy a goose.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
I've never seen a goose of Giant Eagle. I don't
think I have. What if you did, that's a great point.
I gotta go, you know, I might go on my
way home right now and see if we got I'm
gonna go to the registered You got any goose?
Speaker 3 (01:26):
What kind of establishment is this? You don't tell geat
it's Christmas Eve? Goose? No more goose? Come on? Ridiculous?
You know it's not ridiculous, though, never go there whenever
we do are.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
This is ridiculous. Nothing that's happening, knowled.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
Your voice to the that's goin to be more gully
that you're the possessive like demon that gets in you
for that part of it.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
All right, time for our j q MTC. Boy, there's
some teams in the NFL right now. Huh. It's tough
to fill out this portion of it. Number eleven. I'm
gonna go with the Green Bay Packers. Number twelve. I'm
gonna go with the Carolina Panthers. Number thirteen.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
I'm gonna go with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Speaker 3 (02:16):
How about that. Okay, I'm just.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
Kind of not impressed with you right now, and I
also maybe forgot about you when I got this far
down the list.
Speaker 3 (02:23):
I'll spoil it here and I'll see I also have
him at thirteen.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
It's nice.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
Number fourteen, I've got the Indianapolis Colts. Wow, just because
I think Philip Rivers is so awesome. I can't believe
he's actually played statistically well. But they're ower and two.
I mean, that's that's just you couldn't script it any better.
You'd think he'd be terrible and maybe they squeak out
wins here or there, but nope, oh and.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
Two, and he's playing like an MVP chanced. Number fifteen.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
I'm gonna go with Tampa Bay just because I feel
like I have to.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
I feel like they're gonna play in that Sunday Night
football spot winner take all for the NFC South. But
number fifteen is not a good team at all. And
I almost wanted to put the Saints in there, who
have played some really good football one three.
Speaker 3 (03:00):
Great. Wow, Yeah, there's a couple interesting because I have
you didn't mention either of the teams that played on
Sunday that that I was at the game, and I
have them both in our in the fifteenth So so
I think I know what you did with each of
those teams, which kind of surprised me. Number eleven the
Pittsburgh Steeler Trader, number twelve, the Green Bay Packers, number thirteen,
(03:20):
the afore mentioned Philadephia Eagle, number fourteen, the Carolina Panthers,
and number fifteen they Distois Lyons.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
Yes, yeah, even in the losing effort. Huh.
Speaker 3 (03:29):
I mean there's I still I still wouldn't want to play.
I know, I'm probably you know this is like, this
is like the Chiefs are the losing the tight the
I don't pay the Chiefs right now. No, the Chiefs
actually stink. You picked the Chiefs by the way I did.
I did. I looked really bad. So the lies are
probably the same thing where I'm just goin to foold
by them. But and I just saw them play and
they were you know whatever. I don't know, but yeah,
(03:50):
I don't know who did. You haven't what teams you had?
You had. Oh, come on, you thought about the Saints.
I mean, you've thought about the Saints ahead of the Lions.
I mean, come on, what are you doing here.
Speaker 1 (03:59):
Playing the line right now? Tyler Schuck three hundred game
last week? No, I'm serious, I'm right, you're wrong.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
Number ten, number ten, This is where I have.
Speaker 1 (04:12):
They are checking in at number ten. That just went off,
but I got they got a laser sound effect next. Yeah,
they played the Lions, didn't just play them, well, beat them.
Best performance of the season, best three performances of the season,
all group together.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
They're peaking at the right time.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
And as much as I was joking about how the
JDQMTC like the teams and the fringe here out of
the top ten are pretty garbage, ten and up are
pretty solid football teams right now, teams that are really
playing some good ball.
Speaker 3 (04:42):
Yeah. I have a real hard time. I mean, you think,
I think you're not gonna like my number ten cause
you think they're going to be higher. But that's how
I feel like the top ten is really good. Number ten,
I have the Buffalo Bills.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
That's insane, that's just wrong. Why because they struggled in Cleveland?
Speaker 3 (04:58):
Well, I mean they didn't look. Okay, I have not one.
I have nine teams of ahead of them that I
all that I think have had better runs here recently.
I still wonder about the Bills.
Speaker 1 (05:07):
See that's where I just disagree completely. I think the
Bills have been on a run.
Speaker 3 (05:11):
I told you disagree with it, so I predicted that
you were right. I'm ready to take your bullets. I
suit it up. I'm ready to take your arrow sling
them at me, sling them at me.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
Four straight wins. They go to New England and put
the boots to them after being down twenty one.
Speaker 3 (05:25):
Said the top ten was to get ten good teams.
So I'm thinking they're a good team. And there's nine
teams that have better resumeates.
Speaker 2 (05:30):
Which were supposed to put Buffalo that low.
Speaker 3 (05:33):
All right, let's go all right? Yeah, well I put
the Saints there. All the Saints have one two in
a row. My god, the Saints, we're scared of the Saints.
Speaker 2 (05:40):
Are playing some good football.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
Man. I'm telling you, if you were an NFC team,
you do not want to see New Orleans march into
your stadium right now. Number nine. I got the Houston
Texans at number nine.
Speaker 3 (05:51):
Okay, I have the Houston EXAs well. Okay, I have
the LA Chargers at number nine.
Speaker 1 (05:55):
The Texans are number eighteen because the Chargers are number
around there in the same neighborhood with the Chargers and
the Texans. Start with the Texans. It was a bit
of a clunker against the Raiders. I laid a huge
spread thinking that they would you know, blow them out,
and lost that one in our picks. But actually, you
know what, in hindsight, I should have seen that coming.
(06:18):
That is such an easy letdown game.
Speaker 3 (06:20):
Right. It was at home for Houston, so they're just
gonna kind of ho hum their way through it. They
were in.
Speaker 1 (06:25):
Control of the game. Yeah, the score looked tighter than
it was, but you got the win. And now you
have the finish of the LA Chargers the Indianapolis Colts
these next two weeks, so you had some games on
the horizon where that could be a bit trap gamy,
and you were coming off of a real run of impressive.
Speaker 2 (06:43):
Victories leading into that game.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
I mean, it was a total letdown spot and the
best thing that they did was they let down based
on how they looked. But they also got the win anyway,
so you can burn that tape if you want to
and just move on completely to the Chargers.
Speaker 3 (06:57):
Right, And you know how I want to say, I
think across the I'm gonna say it now. I'm going
I'm gonna toot my own ardor I was on the
Texans vandwagon before anybody else in the in the country
was ago Texans. So but so I actually I moved
them down a few spots. Even again, I'm a number eight.
I had them up. I don't know what I had
(07:17):
them last week. You can find it. The archives are
out there. Nobody can listen. So I still believe in
the Texans again the Chargers. So that's why I had
them still a little bit above the Chargers. That the
Chargers are like I said, Man, this AFC, you can
go so many directions with this. It's it's the I
mean that we thought the Cowboys would show up, and
I really thought that that would have been a I
(07:39):
don't say a trap game per se, but that the
Cowboys were eliminated. But I still thought they were, you know,
because of where they're at and what they're I thought
they would play better than that. And that the blame
for that falls to the Chargers and where they're at
so whatever. Charger's top ten, number nine and.
Speaker 1 (07:55):
Number eight for me. They played the Texans this Saturday.
There you go, it'll great games thirty. Yeah, they're gonna
settle out on the field. The Chargers are this team
though that I always or excuse me, I keep expecting.
Actually I do always expect them to do this, but
this year I expect them to fall off when that
tackle injury happens. And that kind of really started around
the Steelers game, like that first kind of because that
(08:17):
was the first game Alt was out for the year
on and it was like, Okay, they're very vulnerable. They're
banged up in the backfield. It's just gonna be too
much for them to overcome this season.
Speaker 2 (08:28):
Nope.
Speaker 1 (08:28):
They have won what is it now, six straight games,
four straight games for the LA Chargers.
Speaker 2 (08:34):
They are keeping pace with the Denver Broncos. Did a
huge favor Dune ton't by.
Speaker 1 (08:38):
The Jacksonville Jaguars this past week beating Denver. So the
Chargers are now just a game back. You went out,
you win the AFC West. If you're the Chargers, that's
on the table for you at this moment. You play
the Texans this week, you finish against Denver. You already
beat Denver this year, so you'd sweep the season series,
you'd win the tiebreaker over them, no questions asked. So
I gotta really start tipping my cap to these guys,
(09:00):
and Jim Harborugh in particular, because there are so many
reasons for them to just kind of slide back and
kind of take the Cults are out of things and
fade out of the playoff picture and try to hang
on by the skin of their teeth.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
But no, they are winning games. They're peaking at the
right time.
Speaker 1 (09:15):
And just like I said in a previous thing with
the Steweers went out there and took the AFC North,
the Chargers went out there and took control of a
wild card spot, and now I've clinched one.
Speaker 3 (09:24):
I think a lot of ways it reminds me of
what we did to the forty nine ers, and I
kind of wrote them off when they had some Maybe
all other guys back is a thing other than Fred Warner.
Speaker 2 (09:32):
Miners are a little more scary.
Speaker 3 (09:34):
Yeah. Yeah, Because the Chargers lost you, you lose both
your tackles. You kind of feel like your season it
just ain't gonna happen for you, so that's still is
a concern going forward. But you're right, they've won seven
out of eight so since and they lost their all
got injured during the game. That the six out of
seven of that run, right, So it kind of shows
where they're at. And you know, at this point you
(09:54):
got to believe in what they're what they've done, the
next man up mentality of course, and what where they're
at right now, judgmable where they are. Don't worry about
who's out or whatever, Judgma, but what there are and
what they're doing. And yeah, they're a legitimate you know,
it's tough because again the AFC is such a such
a and we expect the Chargers just to charge her
to do the not do the verb thing with them
(10:15):
and not not make a run. But at the same time,
you're right, very sneakily here they they could all all
of a sudden be like a two seed, like you know,
I don't know, we're worried about the making the playoffs,
and they might be one of the favorites. Officide, do I.
Speaker 1 (10:25):
Sneak you want Denver to fall back into that five
seed and coming to Pittsburgh and get into a rock
fight it's a great defense. Though for the Broncos, it
would make you a bit nervous that I.
Speaker 3 (10:34):
Didn't even you know what that's So that's six posts.
I didn't even think about the Broncos as a post.
Speaker 1 (10:38):
They could, I think are a very real possibility. Put
it this way, if the Chargers beat the Texans, I
think it's gonna.
Speaker 3 (10:43):
Be the Broncos fall into the wildcard. I realize that's
that I was. I knew that Jacksonville and Houston and
Buffalo and the Chargers of course in New England, I didn't.
I didn't get factor in the Denver could be that
team that could fall. They right, and they absolutely could.
That would be that would be It's weird because they're
the one seed, and in some ways you're probably right
in a weird you can make a strong case. To me.
(11:03):
I'm not saying for sure, but if I could pick
one of the other six teams the Steelers to play,
I might just say, I mean, bo Nick's on the
road and the playoff.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
You know, it's what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (11:13):
Man.
Speaker 1 (11:14):
Although Justin Herbert ain't exactly that great in the playoffs
either doesn't have the best track record, so.
Speaker 3 (11:19):
He also scares me. He's really good speak. He's very good.
Speaker 1 (11:22):
Yes, number seven, as we just did our eight nines,
I've got the San Francisco forty nine ers.
Speaker 3 (11:29):
Here is what I have. So that's just kind of
foretelling what I think of the Broncs a little bit
less than maybe the record shows from my point of view. Okay,
but seem you'll see what I did with the Niners
a little bit right. I'm very excited to I like, Yo,
I'm already disappointed you once, so I can't wait to
disappoint you more and more because you're gonna have the
bills like a two or something, and I'll be like.
Speaker 1 (11:49):
The San Francisco forty nine ers, I think are a
team that can get to the Super Bowl, a team
that can maybe even win the Super Bowl, and no
one's really talking about them until just about now.
Speaker 3 (12:01):
I think they're starting to kind of realize who they are.
Speaker 2 (12:04):
I mean, they have a shot at the one seat
still in the NFC.
Speaker 3 (12:07):
They by beating.
Speaker 2 (12:11):
Who did they beat this past weekend? The Colts. I'm
onndon I Football on Philip Rivers.
Speaker 3 (12:15):
They blew them out in Indianapolis.
Speaker 1 (12:16):
You know, they bumped the Rams, who I think a
lot of people think might be the best team in
football still all the way down to the sixth seed,
hanging on by.
Speaker 3 (12:23):
A little bit of a thread.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
I know they're already clinched, but still, it's amazing how
deep this NFC is, and it's amazing how great the
Niners are. With the injury adversity they faced. They won't
have Fred Warner, they won't have Bosa, but they have
overcome those and they have overcome anything that's been dealt
their way.
Speaker 3 (12:38):
I think Kyle Shanahan should.
Speaker 2 (12:39):
Be Coach of the Year.
Speaker 1 (12:40):
He's not going to get it because the expectations for
the Niners at the beginning of the season was to
kind of be like this. Injuries kind of derailed and
changed those expectations or should have, but they're kind of
arriving at the same spot people might have expected them to.
And Coach of the Year just doesn't get awarded to
that player. The Coach of the Year gets awarded the
team that was predicted to win three games and wins thirteen.
Speaker 3 (12:58):
We'll see, and it's probably one because the Bears are
pretty good at defensively, but they have a chance to
go the entire month of December without punting. If they
don't punt against the Bears, they will go there. Now
they had to buy a week, so yeah, and then
November thirtieth, so it worked out like perfectly to make this.
But still to go to the entire cowlendar month without
punting is on the table for the forty nine ers.
Speaker 1 (13:19):
And you know, it's amazing about that. Well, not amazing
about that, but what I think is the reason for that.
Christian McCaffrey's having a first team All Pro type of season,
is having an MVP season.
Speaker 2 (13:30):
Kind of quiet right now.
Speaker 1 (13:31):
Yeah, he's the he is the driving force for that
Niners offense in that football team.
Speaker 3 (13:37):
Yeah, and you just it's almost like you kind of
because we've been so trained out to put an internal
clock I think on running backs to think that they're
all they're washed up, and like I do that, Like
I'm like, oh, he's past his prime, and then he
get hurt last year and you forget it. Yeah, it's hurt.
That's part of it too. So he's twenty nine years old.
Speaker 2 (13:52):
So he's twenty nine.
Speaker 3 (13:54):
It's like in the league for thirty years. He was
in Carolina when I was entering fifth grade. Well, this
is his ninth season exactly.
Speaker 2 (14:03):
That is crazy. He's going to the Hall of Fame
for sure.
Speaker 3 (14:06):
Yeah. I mean he's up to He's already up to
rushing yard yards from scrimmage, man, I.
Speaker 2 (14:10):
Want that's the thing for him.
Speaker 1 (14:11):
He's one of only three backs to have a thousand
yards receiving and rushing in a season. I mean Marshall
Faulk Roger Craig being the other two.
Speaker 3 (14:17):
He's approaching thirteen thousand yards from scrimmage from his first career.
This will be his third unless he gets hurt. Third
two thousand yards from scrimmage season and he had another one.
He's nineteen sixty one thousand, nine and sixty five, so
I mean, yeah, he's uh. In the years he pretty
much the years he didn't is when he got hurt.
He's had four seasons where he played seven games or fewer,
so that that kind of the only thing that's really
(14:38):
held him back. So between his injuries and you think, right,
you think he's thirty four years old or whatever. You
think his age, you kind of write him off every year.
I think he's not, but he is. You watch that
guy everybody Monday night. If you're an NFL fan, you
watch those games, and he's a nami because he probably
ever was really and that's that's a big part of it. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (14:53):
So all right, your number seven was the Denver Broncos.
That's fitting because my number six is the Denver Broncos.
Speaker 3 (14:59):
But it's also the Chicago Bears. Tie a tie. Oh
we almost had a perfect season. You we went seventeen
weeks with that, a tie in the top god tie.
I remember, was I even fifteen like eight teams.
Speaker 1 (15:13):
Now, some people might speculate out there that I forgot
to put the Denver Broncos in my power rankings until
we sat down here and we're getting towards the top five,
and I was like, holy crap, I don't have the
Denver Broncos in here.
Speaker 2 (15:23):
I have to figure out a way to force feed
him in there.
Speaker 1 (15:25):
Some people who might who would do that's total bs.
Speaker 2 (15:30):
That is fake news. This is a tie. Okay.
Speaker 1 (15:32):
If the AP voters can do it in college football,
I can do it in my power ranking.
Speaker 3 (15:37):
So you went for tie for fifty and went right
to six. That's that's another curious that's a curious way
to do things. No, they're tied for sixth they're tied
for six and I had seven. Yeah yeah, sorry, yeah,
yeah yeah.
Speaker 1 (15:47):
That's again lending evidence, lending evidence to the theory that
I just squeezed this in here last minute.
Speaker 3 (15:52):
You had the fifteen and I'm like, who did he
leave out?
Speaker 2 (15:54):
Because I was like, how did that add up to?
I didn't leave anybody?
Speaker 1 (15:57):
Oh yes, I didn't releave anybody out of party the
whole time I got you 's start with the Broncos,
who are part of my six way or number six
place time first place. When you major rankings, the first
thing you did was a tie for six the other
day when then fell out the rest?
Speaker 3 (16:10):
Yeah, exactly, Okay.
Speaker 1 (16:12):
Denver laid a pretty decent egg against Jacksonville, or did
Jacksonville make a huge statement against Denver? I think that
if you wanted to be anti Denver, you could argue
the first thing. If you wanted to be pro Jacksonville
pro Denver, you could argue the other way and say,
oh no, that was just a team Jacksonville. They're they're
really playing good football, And hey, Denver, we want a
(16:32):
ton of games in a row, right, like it's time
for us to maybe come back down to earth.
Speaker 3 (16:36):
And I'll say this a lot of teams.
Speaker 1 (16:41):
When they get into the playoffs on like a twelve
thirteen game win streak, I feel like you're due at
some point, right, especially in the NFL, And then when
the competition gets a lot better, it might not be
the worst thing to get a nice regular season loss
under your belt before you make that playoff run, kind
of hit that reset point. The problem with them, though,
is what we just talked talked about with the Jajas,
(17:01):
that lost to Jacksonville opened the door for LA to
win the West.
Speaker 3 (17:06):
Yeah, and you know, you're right, in some ways you
could say that was the second most yards they had offensively,
in some ways they looked as dynamic and side. It's
a pretty good defense too, as as good offense. I mean,
they scored twenty points, but you may you almost feel
a little bit better about bo Knicks and the offense. But
from that game and that result. But they're saying, yeah,
losing a game at home where you have that advantage
(17:27):
against against the Jaguars and the fact that you know
you're supposed to be this team, that's that's your calling
card if you're going somewhere the Denver with apologies their
offense and r. J. Harvey looks a good rookie running back,
and they have a good I mean, they're not a
bad offense. But if you're if you're gonna win the
Super Bowl with le BRONC goes right your your recipe,
your path is your defense is gonna be suffocating. It's
(17:48):
gonna be it's gonna be the best in the league
over those four weeks, and and it's arguably been up
there with the teams like the Texans and the Seahawks
and the Browns all the enough if you think about
the best defense is really in an NFL, And if
you're going this season the twenty twenty five Broncos, to win,
your defense has to be dominant. So to have on
your home field, Jacksonville come in there and drop a
(18:10):
thirty four on you, that's probably the most concerning part
is I didn't think I thought this team was gonna
hold everybody to twenty five or least they might lose them,
you know whatever. It is. So for that to happen,
especially at home, is a little bit concerning from the
Broncos point of view. But you're right, I do think
that we've all been sleeping on the Jaguars because they're
the Jaguars, and we just assume they're gonna man lol Jaguars,
(18:31):
and assume they're not any good and they're actually probably
better than we've been giving credit for.
Speaker 2 (18:34):
Is that your six team Jacksonville? Was that number six?
Speaker 3 (18:37):
They are? Yes?
Speaker 2 (18:38):
Okay, how about that? Yes that I don't know where
my laser is.
Speaker 3 (18:43):
Where are you laser guy?
Speaker 2 (18:45):
Where are you laser guy?
Speaker 3 (18:46):
I mean, how did you lose the laser? I don't know.
Speaker 1 (18:48):
I mean, this thing is old, it gets away from me.
It is all right, Jacksonville's the number sixteen. My number
six team tied is the Chicago Bears too.
Speaker 2 (18:57):
That Bears.
Speaker 1 (18:57):
You got to have the Bears at five, right, Yes, okay,
the Bears are your five team. My five team is Jacksonville.
That's why I have the Jaguars checking in as.
Speaker 3 (19:05):
In full disclosure, I would probably have the Jags ahead
of the Bears. But I have on record to saying
that I have to I have to love the Bear.
I owe the Bear some of my affection because I
hated them and they I did say that I'd be
very hard on them, so I need to make it
up to them and to kiss up to the Bears
and say, I'm very sorry I didn't respect you. I apologize.
I'm not very smart. You're brilliant, you.
Speaker 1 (19:23):
Know the centaly happy gomar when you're talking about Chups,
I'm smart, you're dumb.
Speaker 3 (19:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (19:27):
The best part about that scene is he goes, I'm ugly,
you're very handsome, and then Chups cuts them off there
and he goes, okay enough, but as long as you're
willing to admit that part, like he stops them there, like,
all right, fine, as long as you're willing to admit
you're ugly and I'm very handsome. But anyway, talking about
du Bears, you do hate them. But I'll tell you this, Chris,
(19:49):
you're right in one area. They ain't going to the
super Bowl this year. They play too many tight games.
They're trailing too many times in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 2 (19:57):
You can't live like that. In three straight weeks against
playoff teams and it's good.
Speaker 3 (20:01):
Yeah, you're right on that. But it's been a step
forward for them. Oh, they're going to host the playoff
game probably, they've done everything. Actually, they most likely will.
It's going to be hard for the Packers to catch
them now. And in some ways it's it's almost a
compliment to them because I wondered the Bears what they've
been and just Kayleb Williams, because we know Kayla Williams
is all the talent in the world, and you wondered,
kind of if he had that, I would have thought,
(20:23):
you know what, I don't know if I trust him
in the weighty moments, those type of things, and they've
proven the exact opposite of that to me. So in
some ways it's a compliment. You know, you feel almost
better that they're kind of squeaking by on these games.
That makes sense that I feel like that this is
a team you can build forward and I think it
would only get better, and you know, they have some
young pieces to build around and things like that, and
they're kind of proven that that they can win that
(20:45):
you know that they're not, as Mike Tong would say,
running to the adversity instead of running from it. And
it's kind of so it's kind of cool to see. So, yes,
I call all the Bears fans. I'm sure we get
we've highly listened in the Bears locker room. I apologize
for everything bad I've said about you. You guys are great,
now tell you lose the screw.
Speaker 2 (21:02):
You up that that was right?
Speaker 1 (21:04):
Yeah, Jacksonville my five year six there, you said it yourself.
You kind of summed up Jacksonville really nicely already, Chris.
But it's a team now that has forced you to
take them seriously. And Trevor Lawrence is a quarterback now
that's forcing you to take him something. Yeah, he's rejuvenating
the conversation of is.
Speaker 2 (21:21):
Is he top ten?
Speaker 3 (21:22):
Is he a franchise guy?
Speaker 1 (21:24):
Because this past run that they're on, he's playing not
just like a top ten quarter I mean, Chris, he's.
Speaker 2 (21:28):
Playing like a top five, top three quarterback in this league.
Speaker 3 (21:31):
There's a lot of I mean, they're both numb one
overall picks. Both sort of the quote unquote next one
that quoted the Sidney Crosby five years apart or whatever
it was within the obvious number one pick, the Trevor
Lawrence and the Caleb Williams very similar thoughts about them
in different points of their career. But it's like, yes,
all the time in the world's there, but it's never
gonna happen for Trevor Lawrence, right, And all of a sudden,
now he's proven maybe maybe it can't he the way
(21:52):
he's playing right now, he's playing like the guy was
the lockdown number one overall pick and is your franchise,
you know, superstar kind of guy.
Speaker 2 (21:59):
Number four. I have the Buffalo Bills, ye see.
Speaker 3 (22:03):
I have their this is the Niners for you. I
have the New England Patriots.
Speaker 1 (22:09):
Oh my god, we're going nuts supremacy.
Speaker 3 (22:14):
Yeah, this is like the SEC. I'm just I'm pretending.
I'm like, you know, Greg Saki or or what's a
Paul Fine bomb or something? Everybody the way f C
West is running the running the football right now. But
I got Bill's for I got.
Speaker 1 (22:26):
Patriots three for me, So Rangland comes in at number
three for myself. So I got the Bill's Patriots right there,
neck and neck with each other. Bills have an outside
shot to still take this division. But the Patriots did
a great thing against the Rayvens on Sunday Night Football
and coming back and getting off the mat. People were
really over zealous and excited, to be honest with you,
to write the Patriots off after they blew that game
(22:46):
to the Bills and saying like, ah, here's the collapse
we thought was coming.
Speaker 2 (22:49):
Well, that fuel was growing or the fuel to that fire.
Speaker 1 (22:53):
Was growing and growing and growing. I cannot get this
fuel to fire analogy off the ground right now. I'm
just gonna get out of it. They really were threatening
to have that talk amplified, even more so because of
what was looking like was going to play out against
the Ravens in that fourth quarter. And then they stormed
all the way back and just to race that narrative completely,
Drake May's back, He's in the MVP front Runner conversation,
(23:14):
and the Patriots are back in control of not just
the AFC East, but with the Denver Broncos slipping up.
Speaker 2 (23:21):
They can get the one seed again.
Speaker 3 (23:23):
So, uh, New England. Great performance by them.
Speaker 1 (23:26):
Buffalo's coming though, Still think I'd take Buffalo over the
Patriots in a playoff game, even if it was in Jullet.
Speaker 3 (23:31):
Well, they just they literally just did that one there
last week. It's amazing why I would think that. Right, So,
you have the Niners of three, I do because I'm ready,
I'm all in on the NFC West all of a sudden, Man,
does that mean you have the Rams at two? I mean,
don't don't you dare do this again? If you do
this the second time this season, I'm walking out of
the studio. If you don't put the if you put
the ramshead of the Seahawks, because the Rams beat the Seahawks,
(23:54):
you cut the Seahawks one. And now if you do
the same thing I get at office, that's gonna be
so mad. I hold it against you.
Speaker 2 (24:00):
Do you not think? Do you not think the Rams
out played the Seahawks?
Speaker 3 (24:03):
Please don'till, please please. All we have is our integrity. People,
what are these power rankings? They want integrity and you're.
Speaker 2 (24:10):
Ruining the head to heads have to matter, the results have.
Speaker 3 (24:13):
To matter, all right.
Speaker 2 (24:15):
Well, Number two for me is the La Rams.
Speaker 3 (24:17):
Yay, I'm so proud of you.
Speaker 2 (24:19):
And number one is the Seattle Seahawks.
Speaker 1 (24:20):
Here's why I could have done the thing I thought
about doing it, because the Rams did outplay the Seahawks
for the majority of that football game.
Speaker 2 (24:28):
The reason why I put Seattle at number one, though,
is because of what Sam Donald did.
Speaker 1 (24:32):
Sam Donald, for three quarters of football looked like the
classic Sea and Ghosts guy.
Speaker 2 (24:36):
He can't win the big game. Something about McVeigh just
gets under his skin.
Speaker 3 (24:39):
You can't win with this guy.
Speaker 2 (24:41):
You're stuck in the ultimate kind of Andy Dalton purgatory.
And then he erased that.
Speaker 3 (24:45):
All in just one quarter and one comeback.
Speaker 1 (24:47):
And now I think if you're Seattle, almost all the
boxes are checked for this guy for the next five
six years. You got a good quarterback, and he showed you,
at least in one big, weighty moment, he can win,
take control of the West, and take control of the
NFC as a whole.
Speaker 3 (25:02):
You know what, we just three of our top six
now their quarterbacks, and this is the business we chose,
it's the life we chose, or whatever. Three we assigned
narratives to them all, all three Kayleb Williams, Trevor Lawrence,
and Sam Doll. Different reasoning, but the same idea that
they're never gonna be and they have all on this
run right now where they're all or having where they're
(25:23):
kind of proven us wrong, which is everything in the
second year.
Speaker 1 (25:25):
So I mean, like he's still in his normal development page.
But Lawrence and Donald gave you doubts for a right time.
Speaker 3 (25:32):
I mean, yeah, I'm not saying we were even wrong.
And the heck they could go out and lay an
egg next week or the exactly that still might happen.
Speaker 2 (25:38):
But it was a great game for him on there.
Speaker 3 (25:40):
You feel much better about the Seawks right now. That's
it for.
Speaker 2 (25:45):
We come back.
Speaker 3 (25:46):
It's Wednesday, so we're gonna spin the wheel of a
thousand lesions.
Speaker 1 (25:51):
That's next on Steelers Blitz on Steelers Nation Radio, a
part of the Steelers Audio network. Chris and Damski and
I were just yelling at each other about the New
Orleans Saints during the commercial break.
Speaker 3 (26:06):
That's why I love football, man.
Speaker 1 (26:07):
We're just screaming about a five and ten team about
how good they are versus are you kidding me?
Speaker 3 (26:12):
They're not that good? They're the Saints.
Speaker 1 (26:13):
Meanwhile, I think they're the best team in the NFC
South right now. And if we had a committee to
decide who wins the South.
Speaker 3 (26:17):
They sts. So you're right, that would be the team
you would not. You're the five seed in the NFC
right now.
Speaker 2 (26:22):
Right you don't want to see the same I mean
making the Bucks.
Speaker 3 (26:24):
And you'd be like, oh, thank goodness, we got the
Bucks and yeah, you all of a sudden like the same.
This age might finish the season up. They got the
Titans and Falcons are last two games.
Speaker 2 (26:34):
I feel like taking crazy pills.
Speaker 3 (26:36):
The Saints are good and no one notices man, all
of a sudden, Man, they would have had their pick
of any quarterback. Now do they stick with Tyler? Really?
Is Tyler think that they do? And we said at
the beginning of the year kel Moore is not a
bad coach.
Speaker 2 (26:50):
How they're actually playing hard for even though they're losing.
Speaker 3 (26:53):
Oh look at it now, they're playing hard. They're winning. Yeah,
it is crazy. So what is Chuck doing here? Man?
He has too touchdown past the last three games? What's not?
Speaker 2 (26:59):
What's not?
Speaker 3 (27:00):
Not? A the'renes winning streaks? Let's look at out a
hand here? What running the ball? Though? I don't know,
I get two touch rushing touchdowns? All right, whatever, Yeah,
it's fine, Lamar Jackson. Here's again, it's not out of
hand here, but all right, takes a good Chris.
Speaker 1 (27:15):
Okay, that's all I'm gonna say. And then we're gonna
leave it at that. And it's time to break out
the Wheel of a Thousand Questions. Here on a Christmas Eve,
I threw a couple of Christmas questions in here.
Speaker 3 (27:25):
Be very curious if you didn't or if the wheel did.
If the wheel doesn't give us Christmas questions, I'm gonna
be upset. You come over.
Speaker 2 (27:35):
There it is. That's a nice suspin right there.
Speaker 3 (27:40):
It's not a Christmas one.
Speaker 2 (27:42):
Can Adam Thielen turn the clock back just one more
time and pretend to.
Speaker 3 (27:47):
Be a wide receiver one in Cleveland? All right? Well,
by definition, I think I'll play them. He'll probably play
ninety snaps, he'll beat one, and he'll probably get a
decent amount of targets and looks that way and turns
amongst the wide receiving cor although we'll still probably finish behind,
certainly behind Gainwell, probably behind More and probably behind uh
(28:08):
don't know, Washington and Friar Youth, and'll probably finish fifth
or sixth in the team in targets, but probably the
wide receiver corps in targets? Will he make a big play?
You know what I was gonna predict the touchdown?
Speaker 2 (28:20):
You were so close, you were.
Speaker 1 (28:21):
Getting excited when you got to the end of the
diving board and you look down at the water.
Speaker 2 (28:25):
And you said, I'm going back down.
Speaker 3 (28:27):
I don't know if I can go. This was a
bad idea, Yeah, it probably was. But like we talked
about three catches on third and ten or more against
the Lions, those are big time plays that and it
also shows a well, first, he's want to feel a lot,
but he's on the field. The play to some degree
had a route that he was beyond the sticks. Okay,
(28:47):
that the play I don't you know, you can't say
all three plays were designed to go to him necessarily,
but the play was there to have him as a
significant option in that and Aaron Rodgers trusted him in
those scenarios. I think there's something to be said for that,
and like, and Mike Tomain did refer to it earlier
the game well, touchdown he talked about during the news
conference I thought was very prescient or prescient. How do
(29:08):
you say that word. It's it's probably even the wrong word.
Speaker 2 (29:10):
Prescient.
Speaker 3 (29:11):
Yeah, you get the idea that everybody talks about the
big play Bay game well, but that that drive kept
going and theland was part of that. And he's been
a a like in that sense, been a clutch guy.
So yeah, what the heck, why not I'll break the
touchdown by Adam Feeling on Sunday. Let's do it to it.
I jumped, I jumped in the cold water. It's Christmas Eve, man,
you know what, I got my Santa hat on jump
in the pool. Let's do it. You do have a
santahad on. It's pretty cool.
Speaker 1 (29:30):
If you got to interview people in that Santa hat today,
you've got to be like dk Metcalft suspended for two games,
very serious problems.
Speaker 2 (29:37):
Do you like my Santa hat?
Speaker 3 (29:38):
Yeah? That that that's kind of the problem. You just
had to put a pillow in my belly and put
a big jacket.
Speaker 2 (29:42):
You should have gone all in. You should have dressed
Rosie Cheeks. Yeah, just ask yeah, asking questions to the Steelers.
Speaker 3 (29:50):
Do you remember that? Not to go way back, but
in two thousand and seven, Mike Thomains first year, there
was a there was a media member I don't think
get too They would chew up to the press car
difference the week of Christmas and a Santa out fit
and interrupted. It happened, and Bill Kauer played along with it,
and Tom Win's like, what are you doing? Like he
said he cracked these jokes or whatever, and then he says,
(30:12):
is there anything else you'd like for Christmas? And he's like, yeah,
for you to leave, this is what he said. That's
what he said. That that was the last time a
Santa Claus interrupt Yeah, to answer your question. We will
know he cannot pretend to be a number one receiver anymore.
Speaker 2 (30:26):
That has gone way past him.
Speaker 1 (30:28):
They're screwed, to be quite honest with you when it
comes to that, and that production coming from that position
group without DK metcalf. So run the football a ton
and control the game that way. That's your best bet.
DeLand can give you four catches for forty nine yards.
He did it last week, but you can't expect him
to really be that number one guy.
Speaker 2 (30:49):
Here we go spin the wheel. Were what land where?
What land.
Speaker 3 (30:54):
Well?
Speaker 1 (30:54):
Kenneth Gainwell finished the season as the team's leading receiver.
We already leads them in catches, right, That's kind of
what I think that was. Meaning I forgot to add
the receptions card at the end of that one, but
I meant in reception, Yeah, well that already is.
Speaker 3 (31:09):
That's one hundred percent because DK's not playing the last
two games, so very well. Does anybody get to kind
of like anybody who's even close? Yeah, is there anybody
else that's even within you know, fifteen twenty catches or whatever?
Speaker 1 (31:18):
It doesn't that really illustrate the main problem here that
you have a wide receiver and then you have your
running back as your top two guys, and then no
one is even close.
Speaker 2 (31:28):
To catching them. It's a lock already that he leads
the team in receptions.
Speaker 3 (31:32):
Yeah, wow, he's going to Not only that, he might
then your third leading receivers another running back at thirty five.
Well Ward and Friarmuth at tie with thirty five catches each.
Kenneth Gainwell has sixty two.
Speaker 1 (31:42):
So well, I mean well, I guess Friar Youth could
have two fifteen plus catch games.
Speaker 3 (31:47):
With Kanwell doing nothing all of a sudden.
Speaker 2 (31:49):
Yes, that's even the tracks with how the offense has
been evolved.
Speaker 3 (31:53):
Yeah either yeah, Ward in Friar with get Pepper with targets.
These the last couple of games. Actually, so the the
fifth leading receivers new Smith, which kind of surprises me
as in terms of catches. But yeah, that's what and
I put out there, and this kind of relates all
ties back in and what are the exact numbers I
put it on? There's my Twitter account. You can see
this pretty information.
Speaker 2 (32:13):
Uh, why are you mocking your side? People should go
Chris on Twitter?
Speaker 3 (32:16):
Yeah, see you underscore a dance fee trip. It's great,
wonderful content. DK Metcalf this season fifty nine catches, eight
hundred and fifty yards, seven touchdowns, totally because you got
one right, one was rushing. But bear with me. Every
other wide receiver in the Steelers fifty six catches, six
hundred and sixty five yard, six touchdowns. So Metcalf has
outproduced in all three categories every other receiver on the
(32:37):
Steelers this season added up together, and I imagine, well,
they're I hope they pass them in two games worth
of but the yard is they might not pass, and
the collective might not pass them. He's still he might
play fifteen games and everybody else, every other receiver in
the team plays seventeen games. Although I mean, Thilynn, you
get the idea, but you know, collectively, and they still
might not have as many yard receiving yards or touchdowns
(32:59):
as dk mech That that shows how important here's the
receiving cord. Now, I'm actually kind of scared for the
stewards off.
Speaker 2 (33:04):
It's not good man.
Speaker 1 (33:05):
And if you can't run the ball, if you're one dimensional,
I don't know if you can even do much in
that one dimension of passing the football.
Speaker 2 (33:12):
So go Packers, all right, let me give it a
nice little spin here, my wind up spin.
Speaker 3 (33:21):
You're doing like the like the change up, you know,
if that's what you're doing.
Speaker 2 (33:25):
Give me your three best Christmas movies right now.
Speaker 3 (33:27):
I need them.
Speaker 2 (33:28):
I need them now, top Harry to your head, Well,
do you want me to go first?
Speaker 3 (33:33):
So you can think?
Speaker 1 (33:34):
Number one, Elf, I just think that is the classic staple,
need to watch it every year. Number two Christmas Vacation,
the old classic staple, right that my father passed down
to me.
Speaker 2 (33:48):
But it's so damn good. And number three die Hard,
So yeah, okay.
Speaker 3 (33:53):
So I didn't know if that was gonna be eligible
or not. Those are all good choices. However, I'm glad
because my top two are not including with all those,
and those would be good for number three.
Speaker 2 (34:01):
Please tell me you're not one of these. It's a
wonderful life, guys.
Speaker 3 (34:04):
I mean, I think you know I should not, Just
just to prove a point to you, I should. I
wasn't gonna go there for Donald Chris. That movie sucks. Oh,
come on, terrible movie. The strings you're now you're making
Indiana p a zone. I hope we are listenership in Indiana.
(34:28):
Just this is Tom Offermo Chris of the m p
Please not hold against me.
Speaker 2 (34:30):
Don't worry.
Speaker 1 (34:31):
Most people who are alive these days don't even know
what the hell that movie is because it.
Speaker 3 (34:34):
Was made so long. I think NBC puts it on
every night.
Speaker 1 (34:36):
And you know what, I also hate black and white movies.
I just can't get over it. You color it up,
all right?
Speaker 3 (34:44):
All right? Fine? Sorry, you you hate Christmas. It's not
going to be in your top three for real. It's wonderful,
but I want it to be now, just just to
piss you. It'll be a terrible top three if it was.
My Number one is Scrooged. Bill Murray's a genius. It
was really funny, and I really I haven't seen I
don't think I watched the last season at all, the
last Christmas season, so I'm I make a point to
watch now. Number two Home Alone is a classic, man,
I'm sorry, no doubt, it's right there with me. I
(35:06):
love so Number three. I go a lot of different
directions with this. I liked. You know what would I pick?
Speaker 2 (35:14):
Do you don't have any love for Elf?
Speaker 1 (35:15):
The kind of the more modern one that was made,
the modern classic, I would say that's the most recent classic.
Speaker 3 (35:21):
It is funny, that's for sure. I mean I was
gonna say Christmas and what about you think of Christmas
story thinking of like, yeah, I think that's overrated because
it just gets played way too many. It does, but
it's become such a tradition now to be that, Like
I look forward just having an on his background noise,
you know, when I'm wrapping presents and all this stuff.
That starting what tonight, starting about six hours from eight o'clock.
I think it's the big man. Does that not us?
(35:42):
That's you're right, I don't know what. Yeah, nobody's listening.
Nobody under twelve listens to this. It's we have parent
the advisory logoing on.
Speaker 1 (35:50):
As long as Santa can't avoid the Central Park Rangers.
They've been trying to deb me for years. I put
him on the naughty list and they never forgave me.
I'm trying to keep I love alf Man.
Speaker 3 (36:01):
Yeah, you're right, I mean maybe I should do that,
but I was trying to find something sneaky like that slept.
Speaker 2 (36:07):
On bad Sanna.
Speaker 3 (36:09):
I mean, that's for the adults in the room, but
it's damn good. I'm not going to put it up
there before. Yeah, but it is it's it's a good movie.
Speaker 1 (36:15):
Polar Express is a charming one. Yeah, you got, you got,
And that's just a classic story, you know what i
mean turned into the movie. Yeah, so there's a lot
of I mean, like like Fred Klaus. You ever seen
that Vince Vaughan vehicle. That's a beaute Paul Giamatti plays Santah.
Speaker 3 (36:28):
Yeah that's right. Yeah, Fred Claus is good. I mean,
like not top three good, but it's it's good fun
to you. It's a good wash, that's for sure. I
definitely like to watching that. I mean, you got the
kids like the Grinch type stuff.
Speaker 2 (36:37):
Are Jim Carrey's Grinch.
Speaker 1 (36:39):
One of the most insane turns by an actor was
him putting on those prosthetics and playing the Grinch.
Speaker 3 (36:43):
The Muppet Christmas.
Speaker 1 (36:44):
That's that's the Christmas Carroll. That's probably that's basically Scrooge
though just told with muppets.
Speaker 3 (36:50):
Well yeah, but I mean yeah, but Bill Murray such
is when he Bill Murray's on, that's a.
Speaker 2 (36:55):
Very sneaky number one for someone to have. I respect it.
Speaker 3 (36:58):
It's a lot better than it's a wonderful line. I'll
tell you that much.
Speaker 2 (37:01):
Right now.
Speaker 3 (37:02):
I mean, what do you you hate Christmas, you hate
heartwarming things. I mean, it's a bit.
Speaker 2 (37:08):
I said.
Speaker 3 (37:08):
My favorite movie is Elf.
Speaker 1 (37:09):
It's about a grown man dressed up like a Christmas Elf,
and you're like, you hate Christmas.
Speaker 3 (37:13):
I mean it's storytelling ninety years ago.
Speaker 2 (37:15):
Gotta be like, what are we gonna have storytelling ninety
years ago?
Speaker 1 (37:18):
What?
Speaker 3 (37:18):
Ever?
Speaker 2 (37:18):
Just get it out of here.
Speaker 1 (37:19):
I mean, we are so much better at telling stories
these days. It's not even funny, and we at least put.
Speaker 3 (37:23):
Some color to it, right, No cinematic effects gi in
this movie. I can't watch it.
Speaker 1 (37:28):
You could have never done that snowball scene back then,
with Buddy the Elf just whipping snowballs like he.
Speaker 2 (37:32):
Was a damn gatling gun at those people.
Speaker 3 (37:35):
Yeah, so at those bullies. Right. So you love all
the AI movie, You're gonna be thirty years a night.
You're like, oh, this movie doesn't have AI in and
I don't like it anymore. Now.
Speaker 1 (37:43):
Die Hard is my number three, and that could be
thought of as a Christmas adjacent movie, as opposed to Christmavie.
Speaker 2 (37:50):
That's a whole other category. I think it is a
Christmas movie.
Speaker 1 (37:53):
I mean, the whole damn movie is based on the
Christmas party at the Knockotombi Plaza being taken over by
Hans Gruver and the terrorists. That's a little bit more
than just adjacent. Some other Christmas adjacent movies though Gremlins.
Have you ever seen Gremlins? It is a Christmas gift
that kind of falls in the same category as Diehard too,
because it's kind of Christmasy all throughout the movie.
Speaker 2 (38:13):
Iron Man three in the Marble Cinematic.
Speaker 1 (38:15):
Universe, a Christmas adjacent movie happening during the holiday seasons,
trading places. Christmas adjacent movie goes to the holiday party
dan Ackrod dressed as Santa Claus when he tries to
confront them.
Speaker 2 (38:27):
Those are the ones that are off the top of
my head, though.
Speaker 3 (38:29):
I'm sure there's more. Yeah, I don't know the whole
it's become cleched out and discuss the die Hard thing.
Speaker 1 (38:34):
But Diehard two is Christmas adjacent too. It's Christmas again.
They're in the airport.
Speaker 3 (38:39):
Yeah, well yeah, And what are the odds of that
two Christmases in a row or whatever they were in
a row and their consecutive.
Speaker 1 (38:44):
Chris, What are the odds that John McClain keeps having
to save the world eight times over and over again
their belief and.
Speaker 3 (38:51):
Then Diehard three come It's not Christmas at all, not
New York City. And there's the Summertime.
Speaker 1 (38:55):
That's right, summertime with Samuel L. Jackson, which in a
lot of ways is one of the best Diehards him
and Sam. So yeah, all four die Hards like the one, two, three,
the ones we talked about, and then the fourth one
was justin long fantastic movies. The fifth one, Bruce Wallis
was starting to fade a little bit there. It's unfortunate
what happened to him. But one through four there's not
a bad die Hard.
Speaker 3 (39:15):
Yeah you could, you can, Yeah, you can definitely put
and they in their timeless right because I mean, yes,
my Hard, we're thirty seven years old. That was eighty eight,
eighty nine, what was it? What are your ritz?
Speaker 2 (39:24):
It was in the late eighties for the first one, almost.
Speaker 3 (39:26):
Four decades agoing out. That's something stand Although your stn
is gonna say, I can't watched the movie. It's too old.
Just like you're talking about, it's wonderful life.
Speaker 2 (39:34):
I would never allow that to happen. I'm a good parent, Chris,
not a bad parent.
Speaker 3 (39:37):
He's what.
Speaker 2 (39:38):
He's already watched die Hard when he was like one
years he was already watching it.
Speaker 3 (39:41):
Was his first movie. In fact, I gotta get out
of here.
Speaker 2 (39:43):
I gotta watch it right now because I want to
so badly.
Speaker 1 (39:45):
We'll come back, we'll make our picks for Steelers Browns,
We'll make our game picks, and then we will head
on down the Candy Cane Road and get on out
of here. It's the Steelers Blitz on Steelers Nation Radio,
a part of the Steelers Audio network. I can feel
(40:07):
the magic in the air, the wonder, the merriment it
is here. The big Man's coming down the chimney.
Speaker 3 (40:14):
It's the best.
Speaker 1 (40:14):
I don't know how you can't have such a holly,
jolly mood this time of year. Maybe if you're DK
METF and you lost to have half a million dollars,
then you wouldn't be in such all the jolly mood.
Speaker 3 (40:22):
But were the Ravens about me eliminated for the playoffs?
Speaker 1 (40:24):
Well that makes me very so I'll take that. Speaking
of that, Chris, let's start there. Do you think that
is what plays out? Do you think the Ravens lose
to the Packers on Saturday night and the game meaningless
against the Browns.
Speaker 3 (40:36):
Well, it's just so it's hard to Malik Willis, what's
the latest on that. There's a lot of variables here.
I mean, there was a time where you live mullowis
like Willis first, Huntly who you take? I think willis too.
Speaker 2 (40:47):
I think this is pretty good backup.
Speaker 3 (40:49):
Yeah, he's proved, he's kind of made himself a little career.
He's gonna be it looks well. No, of course Party
was in the part of that class. Obviously, Party was
mister Elevant.
Speaker 1 (40:56):
Yeah, you were gonna say he could be the best quarterback,
but he's the second best quarterback in that second best.
Speaker 2 (41:01):
Party threw five touchdowns against the Colts last.
Speaker 3 (41:04):
Yeah, he kind of put that out mac Jones narrative
to bed that he really has San Francisco. But yeah,
I guess I would. I would probably take the Packers
in that scenario. And it seems like even though Lamar
does play, he just just whatever it is, whatever's going
on physically or in his year.
Speaker 1 (41:19):
And I agree with that, even if he does play,
I don't think they can win. Harbaugh might just do
the thing though, where he overcompensates for whatever his reasoning
was for benching Derrick Henry at the end of the
game last week and just give him fifty carries in
this one because they got to stay alive and maybe
he runs for like five hundred yards. So I have
that in the back of my head as a possibility
for the Ravens to win. But Packers have a little
bit of desperation as well. If the Lions lose to
(41:41):
the Vikings on Christmas Day, then the Packers clinch. So
the Packers might just put their hands up and say
forget it, We're not really gonna try against the Ravens.
Speaker 3 (41:49):
And they can't.
Speaker 1 (41:50):
But if the Lions beat the Vikings, and with Max
Brosmer starting and the Lions being a good football team,
I don't think they're gonna just tank. I think they're
gonna put the pressure on the Packers. Green Bay is
going to have to go out there with a sense
of urgency to win that game to clinch. They don't
have their playoff spot wrapped up.
Speaker 3 (42:05):
Yet and the Bears have the forty nine ers in Lions,
so that the Packers are still alive for the demension though,
so even if they clinch a playoff spot, it's it's
kind of a long shot, I guess, but although I
mean if the Niners, who beat the Bears, which in
the Bears are the grest team ever go on record
down so the but I bet I have yet, Yes,
So all of a sudden, then what the Bears followed
(42:25):
at eleven and five and the Packers are ten, so
they they're within a half a game of the division
lead with so then you're playing for like, you know,
the two or the three seed. So no, so the
no scenario where the Packers were probably packing in and
you know, maybe they lose that little bit of I
don't think so, though, So I don't think that's going
to be a factor in this at all at some point. So,
but that being said, the Ravens know, no matter what
they do, there's nothing to was seeding, nothing to do.
(42:46):
It's just in the playoffy're out of the playoff, you
lose the game, so that won't be a factor. But
you know, the Packers aren't home, and you're right, I
think they're a better backup quarterback if it comes to that,
and right now they have the better starting quarterback if
it comes to that. You know, well, the way to
the Marrisplot. I said, I don't know what's up with Lamar.
I assume we'll be back to being MVP Colimber next season.
(43:07):
I'm not writing them mob in general, but whatever it is,
it'd be at this point. You'd be foolish to say
all of a sudden, I mean, people of Marri's gonna
show up, because we probably say that for eight weeks
and it's not happening.
Speaker 2 (43:16):
All right, picks time I went one and two last week?
Speaker 3 (43:19):
Did you you went too and one? I'm back in
the lead.
Speaker 1 (43:21):
Twenty one, twenty six and one, twenty one and twenty
seven race a half game, but two weeks to go
in the lost cost you have this week?
Speaker 3 (43:29):
Fascinating we do this? Is this six ended the playoffs
or not? Are we gonna we keep doing it?
Speaker 1 (43:33):
Right?
Speaker 3 (43:33):
There's not done the stretch? Then okay, your pick. You
know what, I'll probably regret this, but I always say, like,
once you get up to thirteen points and this is
still I think they're gonna play with pride. The Kansas
City Chiefs are getting thirteen and a half points.
Speaker 2 (43:46):
Like against Denver on Christmas.
Speaker 3 (43:48):
Yeah it's on Christmas, you know, we know that kind
of means something the organization. You know, they're they're at home,
so like, I don't know. I mean, I get it,
I totally get it. They just lost the Titan. They
look like they're showing them and I get it. But
I just think thirteen and a half points against your rival,
like I'm taking the Chiefs are so enough pride. They're
not gonna get blown out at home by their big rival.
Speaker 2 (44:07):
I'm gonna go Buffalo minus one and a half is
my first pick. Buffalo at home against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Speaker 1 (44:13):
I think it's too small of a line right now.
I think there's a little too much respect going in
the eagles favor there. I think Josh Allen just he
has got the Cape on foolly. Now it's no more
going into the booth and coming out as Clark Kent
Josh Allen. It's Superman Josh Allen for the rest of
the year, and he'll he'll win this game by like
ten points.
Speaker 3 (44:28):
I think I have that as my second pick too,
so I would, Yes, I don't know. I keep one
to say I've got a fourth one just just to
be a contrarian to you. But it just shows I'm
so good at picking games. Based on my twenty one
and twenty seven records both so we have like mind
of being below average.
Speaker 1 (44:44):
My second pick is Tampa Bay minus five and a half.
Tampa Bay is fighting for their lives right now now.
If they lose, Carolina plays Seattle, so there's a chance
that that doesn't matter. If they lose, they still play
for all the marbles in Week eighteen against the Panthers.
But they need to get a win, right. They need
to start feeling good about themselves. It's in Miami, yours
is terrible. Miami looked awful against the Dolphins. Against the Bengals.
They've completely packed it in.
Speaker 3 (45:05):
So what's going on with the Dolphins? They quit and
then they fight like hell, and then they again.
Speaker 1 (45:09):
I think Tampa Bay will win by over a touchdown
to again keep pace with Carolina.
Speaker 3 (45:15):
I just feel like Tampa like they're broken, like they
meet by a touchdown since uh what lots they beat
somebody more than a touchdown. I know, October, but it's
a bet against the Dolphins. Yeah, you're right, I mean
it's not without merit. I get it your last pick,
my last pick. After everything guys I've said about the
Chicago Bears, you're taking the Niners minus three.
Speaker 2 (45:36):
I like the Niners.
Speaker 1 (45:37):
Mind, I'm not picking, but I like that that there Again,
the Niners are kind of rounding into super Bowl shape.
Speaker 3 (45:42):
Right Yeah.
Speaker 1 (45:42):
So, I mean the their offense right now, like party,
it was amazing against the Colts, amazing.
Speaker 3 (45:48):
I mean the Colts a to chop liver defense either
and you know.
Speaker 2 (45:51):
What, he had to score because Rivers was Rivers was
turning back the clock. Yeah, he was scoring.
Speaker 3 (45:55):
It was kind of a fun game. Therefore, it was
definitely a fun game. It's such a ridiculous just so,
I don't know, it's ridiculous how good he is.
Speaker 1 (46:02):
Yeah, there's such a behind the curve nature to the
rest of the quarterbacks in the league that like, he
has such a command in Rogers too at the line
of scrimmage, and these other guys just don't.
Speaker 3 (46:10):
They just don't know how to do it.
Speaker 1 (46:12):
Yeah, And it makes you kind of like even the
ones that are great right now, like the Maze, you
know what I mean, Like they don't come to the
line and like all right, hey check hot five ac ringo,
you know what I mean, like calling eight different audibles
at once, like.
Speaker 3 (46:23):
Yeah, And that's something that comes with and it's it's
it's really it's fascinating. Like I'd like to do more
of a deeper dive and see what it means for
quarterback and what it means for what that aspect of
being an NFL quarterback, how much depending it is on
that And maybe maybe even today Aaron Rodgers will be available.
You have to practice. Maybe I'll try to. There's a
lot more important things ask the Steelers right now.
Speaker 1 (46:41):
My final pick is New Orleans minus two and a
half on the road against Tennessee. They are playing football, baby,
the playing good football. The Saints go to Tennessee and
take out the Tennessee Titans by more than a field goal.
Speaker 3 (46:54):
Steelers and Browns prediction. I don't think the game is
gonna matter.
Speaker 1 (46:57):
First and foremost, I think that the Packers will beat
the so the Steelers will clinch the North on Saturday
night with you.
Speaker 2 (47:04):
But even if it did matter, I think the.
Speaker 1 (47:05):
Steelers beat the Browns something like twenty seven to thirteen,
something like that. Brown's once Garrett gets that sack, that
half a sack, that full sack, he's quitting for the
rest of the season. So I got the Steelers beating
the Browns, but I don't think it's gonna matter anyway.
Speaker 3 (47:19):
Yeah, I think the Steelers will beat the Browns. I
think yeah. Regardless of whether it matters or not, I
think the Steelers will take care of business up there.
I think even without DK Metcalf, maybe because Aaron Rodgers'
brains we just talked about, the offense is just enough
to be able to get it done up there. They'll
win twenty three to sixteen.
Speaker 2 (47:37):
That'll do it for us.
Speaker 1 (47:38):
Enjoy your Christmas no show on Friday, so this is
