had a hair that otherwise a decade of NFL experience,
and those things are still the case. But we all

(01:00):
something shiny, something bright, something that might make you smile
all night. I'm talking about matures. We officially have pen
to paper, officially have quarterback under contract for the twenty
(01:20):
twenty five season. So power Grid mega Watts, make sure
you get your thoughts, comments, concerns with us, because the
show was always interactive regardless of if Aaron Rodgers is
the quarterback or not. And the best way to get
your thoughts and participation heard is on the Twitter dot
com at Dubody fifty two, dub Body and at Wesley Euler.
(01:45):
The Good Hair and Baby we Got Answers is officially
official one year, nineteen point five million dollar contract, ten
million dollars guaranteed at signing, and a plethora of incentives.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
How we doing?
Speaker 2 (02:03):
How are we don't? Uh?
Speaker 3 (02:07):
Here we go? You know, I mean, it's right off.
Speaker 2 (02:10):
The top with it, man, don't warm up to it.
Heck yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:13):
This for a long time has felt like kind of right. Uh,
we've been in the block. We've been in the blocks
of a race, but we've just been We've just been
sitting in those blocks waiting for the gunman to fire
that gun to start the race. Now it really feels
like the race has started. We've had so many conversations
this off season that the entire time we've had to say,
(02:34):
assuming Aaron Rodgers this year, or we've had to make
the differentiation of okay, well Aaron Rodgers is not here,
how does this conversation change? There has been a lot
of hurry up and wait for this moment. I've felt
like a you know, like I'm like I'm in the
in the Olympics here.
Speaker 3 (02:52):
Just I'm just kidding. It's more like the local high
school track meet. I felt like I'm in the local.
Speaker 4 (02:58):
Felt like I'm in the local here with my feet
in the blocks. Just been waiting for that gun to
go off to start the race for a long time,
and now it feels like the race can really start.
Now we can really start setting expectations and thoughts and
scenarios and hypotheticals for this upcoming season. Now that kind
(03:20):
of the what has really felt like. And I'm sure
they will still add to the roster. It's not done,
but we all know this has felt like the keystone piece,
the one domino that really needed to fall, and now
it finally has and here we.
Speaker 2 (03:33):
Go, no without a doubt. I mean, I don't know
if you felt like this, but to me, it did
start to get to that point where I was questioning
the legitimacy of this actually happening, because it was just like, man,
how much longer are we waiting? How much more time
is going to surpass? And not just from a countdown
(03:58):
into the season standpopoint, but a countdown for off season
activity standpoint? Said Man, we're down to the final week,
he said. You know, with them changing the OTA format,
you no longer had ten practices. You were down to
just six. And then it was three mini camp practices
that were mandatory and after that it's training camp. You
(04:18):
don't see each other until then unless you're you know,
being overachievers. So I did have concern as we were
getting closer and closer to this timeframe. But then it
was such a good feeling from my perspective to at
least have clarity, to at least have the answer to
twenty twenty five. And obviously we're gonna you know, peel
(04:39):
back the layers and it's going to be a lot
and it's not all going to happen today. It's going
to continue to happen as the season gets closer and closer,
and then as the season actually does start, we're going
to continue to heavily talk quarterback, heavily talk what we
see with Aaron Rodgerson rightfully so, but as a whole
I was I was pleased to see that the deal
did get done and that everything that the Steelers had
(05:02):
been doing post justin Fields and Russell Wilson's departure hadn't
been just blindly, you know, walking around and wondering. They
actually did have some type of plan, some type of purpose.
And it also let me feel another level of confidence
in the trust that Aaron Rodgers and coach Tomlin and
(05:23):
the organization have because this was clearly something that had
been discussed, and both parties did an excellent job of
keeping it pretty close to the vest and not giving
any indication one way or the other about yes, this
is officially going to be happening one way or the other.
It literally had us pretty much in the dark until
(05:44):
the announcement from Adam Schefter came out over the weekend.
I mean, you talk about the evening the weekend news
dump as a heck of a weekend news dump, right there, baby.
But we like that. We'll take it. We'll take that
any day of the week man.
Speaker 3 (05:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (05:58):
I it absolute started to feel like you were just
running I mean realistically, like you were just running out
of time.
Speaker 3 (06:06):
Because you mentioned it.
Speaker 4 (06:08):
I think it was very natural for everybody to wonder, Okay,
is this really going to happen, because we've had so
many different times that we thought, all right, this is
when it's gonna he I mean motes he visited the Steelers.
But the third week of free agency, third week of
free agency in March start or fourth week of free
agency in March.
Speaker 3 (06:28):
I mean that was a long time ago.
Speaker 4 (06:31):
Think about how many things have happened since then, the
NFL Draft was still a month away.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
At that standpoint, our leading receiver of the past two
years was on the roster at that point. He is
no longer on the roster.
Speaker 4 (06:43):
At this point, it was it was still like the
first round of March madness. We didn't have a Sweet sixteen.
It was like the first think about how long ago.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
That was that was bumped that west I had a
high school senior. Yeah back when that it happened. That
was before graduation, a graduation party that my gosh, so
blessed me with his appearance. Shout out, shout out, But
she has A lot has transpired.
Speaker 3 (07:12):
Hadn't been to your new house yet?
Speaker 2 (07:14):
Come on, man, shout out, Now we really boys, official official,
Now I had.
Speaker 3 (07:18):
A one year old, Now I have a two year old.
I mean a lot has changed.
Speaker 4 (07:22):
Come on, A lot has changed since that middle of
March date when Aaron Rodgers visited. In a lot of
different times, we thought, there, okay, this will get done
before the NFL Draft. Well, then the NFL Draft happened
at the end of May. Well okay, well this will
this will get done here pretty soon.
Speaker 2 (07:36):
McAfee's coming to town of course it's gonna happen.
Speaker 3 (07:38):
To day Saafee's coming. You're right, sorry. That was the
big one. That was before the draft.
Speaker 2 (07:41):
Of course he's gonna happen. It's here in Pittsburgh night
at Dad.
Speaker 4 (07:50):
And then like two weeks later, then the draft happened,
and all of a sudden, it's May and it still
hadn't happened.
Speaker 2 (07:55):
He's gonna announce it the night before the draft, and
then round.
Speaker 4 (07:59):
Yes, he'll announce it during the draft. He'll announce it
right after the draft. Some people thought maybe there'll be
an announcement during some point during the two weeks of OTAs,
which the other kind of was at the very end
of it.
Speaker 2 (08:11):
It was not. The OTAs were finished, and then we
got the oh, it's pin to paper now, And then
even how they worded it, it didn't even come off
as pen to paper. Hey the stealers didn't Aaron Rodgers
have an agreement. It didn't even say that, hey, he's
officially signed. It was like the speculation of all right,
so is he under contract? Right? Is he officially under contract?
(08:33):
Is can we get excited pop the champagne or are
we still like keep it on ice and just wait
a little bit longer, but we wanted to get the
announcement out there because that was how it felt. And
then we finally get the details of the contract and
everything after that. But yeah, it was a weird, weird process.
But you would have had to have a crazy level
(08:54):
of trust from both sides. For Rogers, obviously, if he
was trying to maintain his privacy for whatever the reasons
may be, and I'm super respectful of that as a
person that also values privacy. The fact that he was
able to, you know, have that first foundational piece go,
I think is going to be a huge thing for
(09:14):
him going forward. I think that that was one of
the things that rubbed him the wrong way in New York,
specifically with Robert Salad, because of the lack of the
benefit of the doubt or the lack of let me
do this for you because of who you are and
what you're specifically asking for. Don't treat me like everybody
else when we obviously know that I'm not. I think
(09:36):
that that's gonna, you know, pay dividends down the line
for Rogers as he views this organization and vice versa.
I think that the organization, because they were able to
execute this and trust Aaron Rodgers. Right. They didn't go
out there and draft a quarterback in the first five rounds,
wait until the six round to go get Will Howard.
They didn't sign another free agent quarterback in free agency,
(09:57):
right Skylet Thompson. We got him super early in the process, right,
Mace Rudolph. That wasn't the same type of going out
there and signing to Justin Phillis, Russell Wilson or Daniel Jones, right,
Sam Darnold type. So I think in a way that
shows Aaron Rodgers that, yes, we trust you, We're gonna
give you the benefit of the doubt. We are not
predetermining your actions, which is something that I always try
(10:22):
to do myself. Right, give people the benefit of the doubt,
regardless if you think they're gonna fail, give them the
chance to succeed, give them the opportunity to do that.
And I think that the Steelers presented that with Aaron Rodgers,
and he rewarded them by actually being a man of
his word. And I think that both of those things
are going to be huge as we build this relationship,
as we build this trust. Because Rogers has never played
(10:44):
for us, We've never had him and his experiences coaching wise,
organizational wise, and culture wise are going to be very
different here in Pittsburgh. Mike McCarthy, Matt Lafleur, Robert Salah, Jets, Packers.
They are not the Pittsburgh Steelers. Packers do a lot
(11:06):
of good things, but they are still not the Steelers.
And how the Steelers run things specifically, we know the
Jets are very far removed from how we run things.
So that's the part where I think that it's going
to take some time to build that the right way.
But as long as the mutual respect can remain, and
I think that this process shows that both parties have
(11:27):
a certain level of respect that they were even willing
to go this route, I think that that, to me
is a nice step in the right direction for the
introduction to this Rogers era. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (11:39):
I think that's a great point by you two, because
while while the Packers organization is obviously one of the
most well respected in the league and there are a
lot of similarities to I think how they run things
and the Steelers run things, we.
Speaker 2 (11:52):
Could just start the big differences ownership.
Speaker 4 (11:55):
The ownership difference is huge, and let's not kid ourselves
too Mike McCarthy is a well established, well known Super
Bowl champion coach now, but he wasn't that when when
Aaron Rodgers became his starting quarterback. I think Matt Lafleur
is a pretty well respected coach in the NFL now,
but he was getting his first crack, his first opportunity
(12:15):
at that with a prime Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 3 (12:18):
Robert Sala. Like, where I'm going with this is none
of these guys.
Speaker 2 (12:21):
Think about Robert Sala and Matt Lafleur their first ever
head coaching opportunities in the NFL with Aaron Rodgers in
the heart of his four time MVP.
Speaker 4 (12:29):
Going back to the majority of the head coaches of
his career, yep, and so again. Aaron Rodgers is one
of those guys where a lot about him is very public,
a lot about him, I think is still unknown in private.
But one thing that I think has been pretty clear
about the end of his time in Green Bay and
his time in New York is that he values that
trust and we know that about every aspect of his game.
(12:52):
I think that's part of the reason why he's so
particular about the wide receivers that he plays with. It's
not because he wants to have his buddies to go
hang out with in the evenings. It's because when he
tells them, I need you at eleven yards, you better
be at eleven yards, not ten and a half.
Speaker 3 (13:04):
Not eleven and a half.
Speaker 4 (13:05):
You like trust in his life with football and with
the people that he lets into his circle in terms
of the McAfee and the media stuff. And I think
from a coach that he can respect and can trust
like a Mike Tomlin who has the ultimate job security
and those two, I'm very interested to see what that
relationship looks like. But I think this whole process was
(13:28):
a very important starting point for that because I think
throughout this.
Speaker 3 (13:32):
I mean, dude, I told you this back in.
Speaker 4 (13:34):
April when I was down at the facility for a
couple of days for the draft, like it has felt
for a couple months now, inevitable down there from their
standpoint that Aaron Rodgers was going to be there.
Speaker 3 (13:45):
I think that's.
Speaker 4 (13:48):
It's a long time, long time for that trust have
to stand up before the pen finally met paper, and
it clearly and it clearly did between two parties and
Mike Tomlin and Aaron Rodgers that that seemed it's like
a very big deal to both. I think that's a
strong starting point for this relationship.
Speaker 2 (14:05):
Yeah, I would agree. I would agree with one hundred percent. Man.
But let's do this man. Let's take a quick break.
When we get back, we'll focus specifically on what we
like about this signing, and then from Nary, man has
to show progress. You know, we're gonna have to do
both sides of that thing. But don't touch that down.
I'm Arthur Motes. That's what's Luler. And this is the
Steelers Blitz on the Steelers Audio Network.
Speaker 1 (14:37):
This is the Steelers Blitz with Wesley Euler and Arthur
Mose on your twenty four seven home of the Black
and Gold.
Speaker 3 (14:45):
As skin are.
Speaker 2 (14:47):
Arthur Motes Wesley Euler. Second segment of today's show on
the Steelers Blitz and uh, we're reacting to Aaron Rodgers
officially being a part of the Black and the goal
pen to paper one year deal, nineteen point five million
dollar contract with ten million dollars guaranteed and a lot
(15:08):
of incentives, something that we typically don't see with Pittsburgh
Steelers contracts, but plenty of incentives for Aaron Rodgers this year.
But before we get into all the details of all
that type of stuff. I did want to start with
just asking you what did you like or what do
you specifically like about Aaron Rodgers being signed here. We'll
(15:30):
get to the negative parts, trust when we will have
our time for that. But I didn't want to just
get what you are excited about with Rogers officially being
on the roster.
Speaker 3 (15:38):
Now I've got I'll give you. I'll give you two
for this. One one is I.
Speaker 2 (15:43):
Don't Cliff knows me either. I don't want no Cliff
knows I want the real one.
Speaker 3 (15:45):
We got nothing but time erwin.
Speaker 2 (15:48):
Now you talk on my language.
Speaker 4 (15:50):
Two things here, one kind of like instantly practical. I
think the other bigger picture. Okay, so I'll go with
the I'll go with the The first kind of instant
thought is I like that this offense is getting a
real veteran at the most important position. I think this
(16:10):
is an offense that needs some vets that needed it
last year. And DK metcalf I would say similar things
about in this vein Like we think about last year,
every offensive lineman starter except for Isaac Samlu at one
point was still on their rookie contract at one point,
too it was Justin Fields, who's still relatively I know
(16:31):
he had three four years as a starter in Chicago,
but still a guy who was not a proven commodity,
was trying to figure it out and get right. At
this level, you had George Pickens still on his rookie deal,
Pat Fryermans still on his rookie deal, Nagie Harris still
on his rookie deal.
Speaker 3 (16:47):
Like it was a the vast.
Speaker 4 (16:49):
Majority of the contributors to that offense were very young,
still on their rookie deal type guys. I think now
having a veteran like DK Metcalf, proven Pro Bowl experience
and production, having it at the wide receiver position now,
and a guy like Aaron Rodgers, I think it's important
for the offense to have veterans.
Speaker 3 (17:08):
That's kind of the.
Speaker 4 (17:12):
That's the first kind of practical application that I that
I have modes is. I just think this has been
a very young offense and it's shown. I mean, you
hope that now you're going to be in the position
to reap those rewards of those growing pains. But that's
kind of my first practical application.
Speaker 2 (17:30):
Not like that man. For me, shoot, I think that
I got a historically great player who at the most
important position, and a guy that historically since coming into
the NFL doesn't turn the ball over. We know the
Steelers method when Bimleys towards the back end of it,
(17:52):
when Mason had to take over with Duck, when Mitch
got opportunities, and Kenny Pickett, when uh, let's see Kyle
Allen even took some snaps out there right justin philis
Russell Wilson. Our method, our model has always been, even
to the point that you brought up the statistic, when
the Steelers win the turnover battle, they win the game.
(18:17):
When the Steelers lose the turnover battle, they lose the game.
Not the Steelers have multiple turnovers is not a good
day for them. Let me just bring up Aaron Rodgers
twenty years playing right interception percentage percenters of times intercepted
(18:37):
when attempting to pass. Minimum of fourteen attempts per season
to qualify right. When we're talking about career leaders, minimum
of fifteen hundred pass attempts. So for context, Aaron Rodgers
has thrown eight thousand, two hundred and forty five passes,
completing five hundred or sixty nine of them right sixty
five percent completion rate sixty two thousand, nine one hundred
(19:00):
and fifty two passing yards with five hundred and three
touchdowns to only one hundred and sixteen interceptions, which is
a career which is an all time career best one
point four percent interception rate. That is insane for a
(19:22):
guy that throws the football. We're talking man. Outside of
him getting hurt, he's averaged over five hundred and fifty
passing yard pass attempts per season for the past ten years.
All of a sudden, when he gets hurt. That's the
only tom He said, six hundred passing yards or six
(19:44):
pas attempts in a season before flirted with the twice
or five ninety seven. The guy doesn't turn the ball
over though, most interceptions he's ever had in a season
was thirteen, and he did that in two thousand and eight.
Think about that man. Last year, right, we talked about
his worst year right as a professional, thirty eight hundred
pretty much almost thirty nine hundred. It's three thousand, eight
hundred and ninety seven yards passing right, so three yards off,
(20:06):
thirty nine hundred, twenty eight touchdowns, eleven picks, and this
is what we said. Rodgers was old that washed needs
to retire. Hang it up, what are you doing? Right?
We just saw Justin Fields go get two for forty
million dollars. He's not even close to this number in
his best season of his life, right as a professional.
We just saw Russell Wilson go sound with the Giants.
(20:28):
We know what he If he gave us this the
old time, I would have felt, like, you know what,
like even more all right, we've already broken down. If
Kenny Pickett would have done this, we would have been
over here, like yep. I told you he's the second
coming of Ben Roethlisburg. I told you he's the man
Mason Rudolph. If Mason Rudolph does this, he's in Tennessee
getting a new long term contract. Right, we could go
(20:50):
down that list, right, Miss Trubisky. If he does this,
we never get a chance to get Kenny Pickett out there, right,
Hecker miss does this in Chicago. He never leach Chicago.
Speaker 3 (21:00):
Never leave Chicago, Justin Fields, never leave Chicago.
Speaker 2 (21:02):
Yep. Just for context, it's nothing that we're trying to
discredit or put down those other guys, because I respect
them and what they do. But this is more so
just to put into context. When we're talking about a
historically great player, just because it was their worst season,
that doesn't mean that their worst season is a bad season.
(21:26):
Just for context. It's like when we talk about super
wealthy people when they say they're broke versus like how
the rest of us we say we're broke. It's like,
you're broke is different than our broke. All right, that's
not a regular broke. You still got like hundreds of
millions different.
Speaker 4 (21:41):
Worst case, you can sell a couple of your Ferraris
and you'll be just fine.
Speaker 2 (21:46):
Just it's a little different. So that's the part that
has me the most excited. That's the big pro that
stands out to me. And then I say, not only
are you statistically great, but you are also league why,
highly decorated, ten time Pro Bowler, four time First Team
All Pro, four time AP MVP, one time Super Bowl champ,
(22:10):
one time Super Bowl MVP. These are the things that
tell me it's not just a this is how I
feel about you personally. This also lets me know that
your peers and the people that are in charge of
rating you versus your peers, the Tom Brady's, the Ben
(22:30):
Roethlisberg is the Drew Brees is the Philip Rivers in etc.
Even Patrick Mahomes of the world right because he has MVP.
Ony Mahomes is playing too. Don't forget that. I look
at all of that and I say, man, that is
what is walking into Pittsburgh. It's been a long time
since we've had being close to this close to this
(22:54):
it is. I know, people would debate the whole Rogers
versus Ben because for Ben he has the two super
Bowl championships. A lot of people swear that, you know,
what he does still is more impactful. But there are
a lot of people that don't reside in Pittsburgh. They
feel like this is the greatest quarterback to have ever
played this game, regardless of all the championships that Brady has.
(23:17):
They say, outside of Mahomes starting out the way that
he's starting, this is the guy. And I'm, like I said,
just excited to see that in the black and goal. Man.
Speaker 4 (23:28):
Yeah, that's that's like, that's my kind of second big
you know thing to like it at this point as
well too, And that is, like I said, the more
thirty thousand foot view one listen.
Speaker 3 (23:39):
I know.
Speaker 4 (23:41):
Opinion on Aaron Rodgers is obviously I think polarizing is
safe to say, like a lot of people love this guy,
a lot of people he rubs them the wrong way.
And I know this too, specifically amongst Steeler Nation, which
is a proud passionate.
Speaker 3 (23:58):
Can often be vengeful and spiteful fan base.
Speaker 4 (24:01):
With all that passion, right, with all your respect, there's
a lot of people, I mean, heck, I'm myself in
and a way included that still haven't forgiven Aaron Rodgers
for Super Bowl forty five over a decade ago, when
he broke our hearts and won his Super Bowl and
his MVP against the Black at Gold and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
But dude, when this when this finally happened on Friday,
(24:23):
there was there was like that little piece of me
that was like in high school and in college and just.
Speaker 3 (24:28):
A pure football fan boy all the moment.
Speaker 4 (24:30):
Man, As you said, make no mistake about this, this
is one of the greatest period too ever.
Speaker 3 (24:37):
Period do it period?
Speaker 2 (24:41):
Not at abit? This is this is that he documented
hard facts.
Speaker 4 (24:46):
He is in a conversation with guys like Patrick Mahomes.
I think maybe like the John Elways and Brett Farrs
of the world too, as just maybe the most talented
passer you've ever seen in your life.
Speaker 2 (25:00):
Like the like physically gifted. Like until Mahomes started doing
what Mahomes was doing, Aaron Rodgers is the only guy
absolutely like in the consistency, the high level ability to
not just do it to show off, but to do
it as a legitimate part of their game. That's why
(25:21):
we look at Mahomes and we're like, yo, you do
certain things legitimately a part of your game. This is
different than a person just doing something to show off
or something that they do when it's you know, a
wasteful time of the game and it doesn't really have
an impact. No, Rogers was the same type of like
he was the one that really had man. He makes
you feel like hail Mary's aren't corral or jump just
(25:45):
a jump like what I mean has mister hill Mary Man?
You know this.
Speaker 4 (25:51):
He's thrown for over four thousand yards ten or eleven times,
double digit times in this league. He's thrown for over
forty touchdowns multiple times in this league.
Speaker 3 (26:02):
I mean, this is one of.
Speaker 2 (26:04):
The best all over. He does it turn it over.
Speaker 4 (26:08):
Best in league history for somebody that has the volume
of the career that that he has. It's one of
the best to ever do it. And I know that
there's a lot of polarizing opinions on him for a
million different reasons.
Speaker 3 (26:21):
Our buddy Tyler in Wisconsin is going to tweets and
be like, I can't believe.
Speaker 4 (26:25):
I can't believe we hired to sign the guy who
made my life miserable.
Speaker 2 (26:29):
Fifteen Yes, well you know how it is. Well, I'm like, look,
we could feel how we feel about him as a person,
about how he communicates to the media, get all that,
but well we can't. We can't talk about when that
man got that football in his hand, when that pig
skin is in his hands.
Speaker 4 (26:44):
Walk into the right all right, he's done playing.
Speaker 3 (26:51):
He can just job.
Speaker 2 (26:53):
He could just start rolling, Just just start rolling side
where you're rolling down a big hell like you're seven
years old. He could do that. Get the can and
he will be fine. All right, He's like they've already
fitted him twice.
Speaker 4 (27:04):
I like, and I'm not as a as a thirty
four year old, now grown man with two children of
my own. I am not afraid still the fanboy from
time to time, as embarrassing as it may be.
Speaker 2 (27:15):
Okay, bom Dad, this is why you live. What's the
point of having feelings and emotions if we can't express
as men? Right? We always we always talk about ladies, right,
and how when they get excited they're able to shriek
in ear or they can cry and it's okay, right
they hug each other. On us. It's like, man, man,
we're allowed to be emotional as well. We're allowed to
get excited, and it doesn't always have to be a negative. Yes,
(27:38):
we could be excited about a guy that we me
and you have both watched. I remember watching Aaron Rodgers
when I grew up. He was the first quarterback I
played on the road against in Green Bay, and I
fanboy the whole time. My first NFL regular season tackle
happened in that game. But I just remember being so
excited that I was playing in the same stadium that
Aaron Rodgers was playing in Lambbo. He absolutely worked this,
(28:01):
of course, and he looked great doing it, of course.
But yes, there is zero wrong with fami wait, And
in fact, I feel like, if you take yourself too serious,
you tell yourself you shouldn't fanboy. If you take yourself
too serious, you're gonna tell yourself I'm too cool to
be excited about Aaron Rogers signing with the Pittsburgh Tailors.
(28:21):
And if that's the case, hey, we wish you nothing
but the best. But for me, I'm gonna fanboy. I'm
gonna enjoy the fact that Rogers is a part of
this organization because you heard what I just read this. Dude,
been doing this in two thousand and five. News flash.
I was in high school in two thousand and.
Speaker 3 (28:36):
Five, dude, That's what I was gonna say.
Speaker 2 (28:38):
Like I was in high.
Speaker 3 (28:39):
School in middle Ers got drafted.
Speaker 2 (28:43):
I was afraid.
Speaker 3 (28:44):
I watched him Citizen College when he was really starting to.
Speaker 2 (28:48):
Get I watched him. I watched him in that draft,
sitting there waiting. I know about that. I watched him
at CAP I know who Aaron Rodgers is. So yes,
you're not about to have you over here acting like
I should feel guilty bouth my smile when I's was like,
hey man, yeah, it was a long wait. Wait he
weighs low as he needed ways the baby like and
what's funny one of those ones.
Speaker 4 (29:09):
What's funny too, is I think throughout this whole process,
like in the back of my head, I was like, Okay,
he's gonna say, yeah, Aaron Rodgers is gonna sign, but
he's forty one years old. I mean, it's Aaron Rodgers,
but I mean it's gonna sign. And then the second
that the news broke on Friday, I'm like, oh my gosh,
it's like, I'm excited. I'll be down at ot As
(29:32):
on Mini Camp on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Arthur Motes, I
think maybe since the first time that you and I
ever did shows down seven years ago, because it was
still all everything back then was still cool and awesome
and new. It's the first time, full transparency that I've
been excited to do Mini Camp.
Speaker 3 (29:49):
Excited.
Speaker 4 (29:49):
I'm not saying I'm miserable going down there, but then
I'm truly excited to go down there to do a show.
Speaker 2 (29:55):
And and DK metcalfit that excited because a I almost
got so excited I was gonna pull up too. I
almost was that excited almost, but then I remembered it
was a lot going on, but I thought about it.
I was hype. Man.
Speaker 4 (30:09):
I can only imagine what it was like down there today,
the energy, the anticipation, the dude, it's a big it's
a it's a big deal.
Speaker 3 (30:17):
Like it is a big deal.
Speaker 2 (30:19):
Loo Loo. Look, we both could agree. We both got
home late last night. Right, we'll talk about this, you know,
in terms of what we were doing earlier in the day.
But we got home late last night. We both pulled
up our phones. We lived on Instagram. We saw Steelers
dot com or we saw the Steels official web Instagram
page post pitch from our brother Cam Hay was golf
outing right, man awsome where he's doing it? The community
(30:39):
shout out to my dog. But you all saw the
same person in that picture. We looked like, is that
Aaron he's here? Is that the man? And it this
is like big spiles, everybody's sorry spot. You look at
Instagram like, oh my gosh, it's him. He's really there.
He's really there, like what he really showed up? He's here, Like,
(31:00):
come on, man, this beautiful apartment shot the Rogers man.
Like I said, man, we are going to continue to
talk about this dude, man and obviously what this means.
But huh, let's take a quick break and then after that, man,
like I said, we'll get back to this some more
in the back end, but don't touch that down. I'm
Arthur Motes that's what Seuler. And this is the Steelers Blitz.
Speaker 1 (31:28):
Is the Steelers Blitz with Wesley Euler and Arthur Motes
on your twenty four to seven Home.
Speaker 2 (31:34):
Of the Black and Gold skn R. Arthur Motes Wesley Euler,
final segment of the first hour of the Steelers Blitz.
And we're absolutely having a blast out here. Hopefully you
are as well. And for the YouTube crowd, I know
y'all are still new to us, but if you're digging
the content and how we're doing it, don't forget to
hit that light but in one time for the culture
(31:55):
and subscribe getting new to the channel. But on top
of that, man, I was distracted because you look real
sharp over there, Wes. I wanted to talk some more
rose which you just look real, real sharp. You got
a nice little sweatshirt over there. Where is that from?
Speaker 4 (32:10):
By the way, man, it's from Treesdale Golfing country Club,
where I was fortunate enough to spend.
Speaker 3 (32:16):
The Monday with the best co host in the business.
Speaker 2 (32:19):
Geez, aren't you rather a boogie? I seese you all right?
All right, Well, that's funny that you got to hoodie
on from trees I got an actual hep from Treesdale
as well. But it's the McGuire Memorial Foundation Shit Golf
out in twenty twenty five edition that took place yesterday,
And shout out to you man for pulling up. Man.
(32:40):
Did you have a good time out there yesterday, man,
as we got a chance to raise some money for
the mcgriarver and Royal Foundation. Man and ultimately have a
good time on a Monday on the golf course.
Speaker 3 (32:49):
Absolutely.
Speaker 2 (32:50):
I know.
Speaker 3 (32:51):
Listen our loyal listeners.
Speaker 4 (32:53):
I think the you know, the five minutes that you
and I spend every single year around this time talking
about about your annual golf outing. It's become part of
the off season program for our loyal listeners, because it's
become part of the off season for for me.
Speaker 3 (33:07):
You know, I tell you this every year, but I
mean it.
Speaker 4 (33:08):
It is. It's one of my favorite days of the summer.
We were fortunate to have great weather. Yesterday. Looked like
it was gonna be rough, and uh.
Speaker 2 (33:17):
It's all that.
Speaker 3 (33:18):
All that held off until late in the evening.
Speaker 4 (33:20):
In fact, it was kind of perfect weather to be
just slightly overcast, which if you're gonna be outside all
day golfing was pretty good weather. All for the MacGuire Memorial,
a charity that I've now you know, gotten organization charity.
Speaker 2 (33:33):
Say may you're not new to this anymore, man, you're
part of Themily Man, that I that.
Speaker 4 (33:36):
I've gotten to spend a lot of time here at
these outings over the last five or six years. That
you've been kind enough to invite me out every single year.
Great people, a great event. I know for a lot
of people like you and I like golf. We both
enjoy Golfah, but we've got some listeners. We've got some
friends that love golf right Like it's almost like a
(33:57):
personality trait.
Speaker 3 (33:59):
Okay, like we worry about them a little bit.
Speaker 2 (34:02):
So who are you? I'm I'm Arthur and I golf Like,
Oh all right, I see you're you're feel about this thing?
I got you now.
Speaker 4 (34:09):
For for for for those type of people out there,
I I can't recommend the Maguire Memorial enough. I'm obviously
a little biased towards Treesdale because it's an area where
I spent a large portion of my childhood.
Speaker 2 (34:21):
With with that is a beautiful course, though, man, a
beautiful course.
Speaker 4 (34:25):
The neighborhood where where I lived for like I said,
a long chunk, a large chunk of my childhood. Beautiful course,
great organization, great people. One of the best days every
single summer. So it was a lot of fun and
I look forward to it every single year. Get involved
with the fifty to fifty raffles, all the different auctions.
(34:45):
I won the longest putt competition one year.
Speaker 2 (34:48):
I know we did shout out to you for that. Man,
you had a nice long put yesterday too. Man, don't
have a have a nice.
Speaker 4 (34:54):
Did have a nice long put yesterday, Motes motesy, I
tell you what. Had a couple of great drives.
Speaker 2 (35:00):
So we had, we had. It was a good day. Man,
It was a good golfrid the.
Speaker 4 (35:02):
We're a fun golf experience because some holes we look
like we just picked it up last week.
Speaker 3 (35:07):
Some holes we look like these look like what they're
doing do they golf a lot?
Speaker 2 (35:14):
Right?
Speaker 3 (35:15):
But yeah, big big, I.
Speaker 2 (35:16):
Heard it might have been a violinist out there as well. Man,
one of those guys heard that might have happened out
there too. Man.
Speaker 4 (35:23):
Yeah, my dad, my dad, because we lived just right
around the corner. Like I said, we we grew up
in that I grew up in that area. And then
now myself and my parents still live right around the corner.
Speaker 2 (35:33):
Not together.
Speaker 4 (35:34):
Okay, you weirdos, I'm thirty four years old, but uh,
but so my dad popped over and played a few
holes with with with.
Speaker 3 (35:41):
Boats and I as well too, which was a lot
of fun. Thanks for letting him do that, and then hanging.
Speaker 2 (35:46):
Out with us as guy right there, man, and then we.
Speaker 4 (35:49):
Both yeah, every year we joke about how we need
to get some merch from the country club because they're
because it's you know, because it's normally on a day
where the country club is closed to the public or
even to the members, you know, when you have these outings,
usually on a Monday, kind of not open to the
normal person type thing.
Speaker 3 (36:07):
And the pro shop was finally open.
Speaker 4 (36:09):
So you and I, like any good radio partnership should do,
we went in there bought the exact same hoodie.
Speaker 3 (36:15):
Baby, let's go.
Speaker 2 (36:16):
This is what we do, man, because we're brothers. We're
happy and we're saying in man, we're all right, this
is how we do it. Man. But yes, man, that's
a whole though.
Speaker 4 (36:25):
Man.
Speaker 2 (36:25):
Shout out to the McGuire Memorial Foundation, man, And for
those of you that don't know Man. This organization located
locally here in the actually Butler area, probably at twenty
minutes out side of the city of Pittsburgh. But they
provide residential services and different cares for severely developmentally delayed
or severely disabled adolescents and adults that just give them
(36:48):
a chance to be more so sufficient man, and continue
to grow and you know, just feel more part of society. Man.
So obviously minatarity that we both care a lot about.
Men in continue we have a lot of fun man,
as we raise awareness and funding for them, man, So
shout out to the McGuire Memorial Foundation as well. But yeah, man,
we definitely had one of those. Today was a good
(37:10):
day moment span when we started that day, gonna pro
shot was open. We appreciate it. Thank thank you for
the merch. Do dude do. But with that being the case, man,
let's get up out of this first hour because of
the second Now it's time to get back to aa
Ron Aaron Rogers. We talked to pros what don't we
(37:32):
like about Aaron rodgers Son. Don't touch that down, Arthur Motes,
Wes Sleeler And this is the Steelers Blitz on the
Steelers audio Network on Steelers Nation Radio
