Speaker 1 (00:00):
Cueler and Motes are on the air.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
This is the Steelers Blitz on your twenty four to
seven home of the Black and Gold. Lescan are Steelers
Nation Radio.

Speaker 3 (00:19):
Good afternoon, Steelers Nation. How we do it?

Speaker 4 (00:23):
I feel like I'm on summer vacation.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
Well that's because you are darling, you and me both.
It is the Steelers Blitz in the final weeks of
the Basement Tour here. I guess about a month left
of the Basement Tour before as we get to the
month of July and the end of July when training
camp opens. But plenty of time for some more bigger
picture conversations here in One of those that we just

(00:47):
started having at the end of the first hour is
coming through going over ESPN's NFL All quarter Century team
here as we hit twenty twenty five and are a
quarterway through this twenty first century talk to the interior
defensive lineman and the linebackers in the first segment Mozy

(01:07):
Now edge rushers. Here will be a fun conversation to
lead us off an hour.

Speaker 4 (01:11):
Number two.

Speaker 3 (01:12):
DeMarcus Ware, Jared Allen, Miles Garrett, and Julius Peppers are
the four that they select. They do have on the
practice squad, TJ. Watt, and Michael Strahan, So of course
Arthur motes much debate about this. Miles Garrett third on
the list, TJ. Watt fifth, stuck on the practice squad,

(01:35):
behind Julius Peppers, behind Jared Allen, DeMarcus where I got
no beef with him at the top of this list.
How you feeling about this edge Rusher group.

Speaker 4 (01:47):
I'm gonna take this chance to pass the ball back
to you and say you're a part of the James
Sarrison should be a Hall of Famer crowd. You've said
that multiple times. Well, Macky k because DeMarcus Ware, Jared Island,
Miles Garrett, Julius Peppers, Michael Strahan, and TJ. What we

(02:11):
know where they are. I'm looking at this list. What
I'm saying, Man, could Debo be up here above any
of these dudes right now? Man? Who are you putting
up here? Man? Because that's the name that I think
is missing. But it also depends on how how you
think he should be up there, because I'm like, if
we think he's in that Hall of Fame class, this
is our argument right here. These are the guys we're
arguing against you. Know what I mean, and I think

(02:33):
that he has a voice in this, But I wouldn't
hear your side of it because I know you how
you fill a bottle Ben. Because I'm looking at this,
I'm like, Yo, that's the one that stands out more
than me. I'm like Miles Garrett, the TJ. What that's
you gotta have one current guy up here or you're
doing the yo, who's the most current guy? That's flavor
of the week. But the other dudes are like, do

(02:54):
we view Deebo as less than DeMarcus where as less
than Jared Allen? Do we view Deebo as less than
Julius Peppers?

Speaker 3 (03:01):
Mm hmm. So this to me is kind of same church,
different pew as the comparing Patrick Willis and Luke Keighley
to Okay to two guys like Bobby Wagner and and
and Brian Urlacker. At his on his best day, Deebo
could be number one on could be number one on

(03:23):
this list. I mean, without without a shadow of a doubt.

Speaker 4 (03:28):
He has a d boy the greatest defensive play in
the history of the Super Bowl Like.

Speaker 3 (03:33):
He certainly does. He certainly does, and a lot of
the guys a lot of the guys on this list
don't have the rings. DeMarcus Ware does, but but not
Jared Allen, not Miles Garrett, not Julius Peppers. Michael Strahan
does and not TJ Yeah, so Strayhan I was kind

(03:53):
of surprised by as well too, Like I thought he
might get a nod over like a Julius Peppers. But again,
it's only this stuff he did in the nineties doesn't
count for this conversation.

Speaker 4 (04:03):
Right, And that's Jamie Peppers. Everything came in. He came
in oh two, you feel me, so everything that you're
talking for him. So this decade, man, whereas with straight
hair came in the league by was it night. I
gotta pup exactly. I want to make sure. Yeah, ninety
fousan I do is ninety one, ninety two is ninety three.

(04:24):
So that's like the argument we talked about with uh
uh the linebacker spot. We're like, yeah, man, Derek Brooks,
seven of his twelve years came you know, before two
thousand and then he gave you another on the back
of it. So it's like when I look at the
straight hair problem, like, yeah, ninety three is when he
came in the league's one, two, three, four, five, six,

(04:45):
seven years before he's crazy.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
That makes that makes sense, That makes sense. Get straight
hand out of here and give me debot, all right.

Speaker 4 (04:54):
That's why I say he's that pick. He's that the
cross generational world, whereas like he played that log.

Speaker 3 (05:01):
Yeah, you know how I feel about these things. While
I while there's a different kind of respect for the
guys that do it for fifteen seventeen, twenty years. If
I'm building my all time team, I want the guys
on on their best day, like I'm getting it's an
all time team, who's the best.

Speaker 4 (05:21):
But that that argument is counter to real argument because
we're gonna say then, we're gonna say quarterback, and we're
gonna say, hey, who would you rather have this one
guy that on his best day is the best talent? Well,
that's case is Aaron Rodgers or Patrick Mahomes or you
want the most decorated, most balls to the wall, I

(05:42):
don't blinek Tom Brady or you have the ones that
are like now, I still won't say that, you know
what I mean?

Speaker 3 (05:47):
Like, well, we'll get into some of that with the
quarterback because I have some I have some similar thoughts
along those lines.

Speaker 4 (05:54):
Yeah, except like that's a very different conversation when you
take it there and now we trying to figure that out. Yeah,
so once again now with this, it's like, yeah, I
think you gotta consider all of those factors. Man, the
de boys in this convo. To me, people is in
this conversation heck, I'm man, Elvis Duomerville isn't in this
conversation where the heck is throw sucks at Like, like,

(06:17):
where is it? Where is t Where is I know
when he came into the league. You mean to tell
me Terrell sucks doesn't get mentioned? Okay, Okay that I
brought up the two names I want to bring up
very specifically Deebo first, because I was like, Deebo, that's

(06:39):
my black and gold brother. He for sure should be
in this convo. But you're not gonna tell me trow
suction to be either.

Speaker 3 (06:45):
He absolutely should be.

Speaker 4 (06:47):
Talking about. What are we talking about? Yeah? So the
list of way there isn't a list that doesn't include
those like what past pass rush some dudes?

Speaker 3 (07:03):
Dun all Right, let's turn to the secondary here because
we're going with two segments on the defense, two segments
on the offense to keep it to keep it fair.
Uh corners no shocker. At the top of this list
Aliquippa's finest Darrell Reeves number one, Champ Champ Bailey, Give me,
just give me one of those guys on each side,

(07:25):
number throwing the ball on us. Ronde Ronde Ronde Barber,
number three, Richard Sherman. Try me with a sorry wide
receiver like Crab. He's at number four, number five, number five,
formerly of this parish. Patrick Peterson mm hmmm. Pat p

(07:46):
one one practice one practice squad corner as well. A
guy whose name has been in the news a little
bit recently. That would be Super Bowl champion and current
Miami Dolphin Jalen Ramsey. Is your practice squad selection? I
love this list. I think this list is fantastic. My
only beef with this list is I might move Pat
Pete up a spot or two, but that's about my

(08:08):
only beef.

Speaker 4 (08:10):
You're putting them over Sherman.

Speaker 3 (08:12):
I think so, just because I would rather have the
man the man guy over the over the zone guy
over Sherman. No, that's a good point. I don't know.
Sherman was incredible, and Ronde Barber, I know, like he
started in ninety seven. But he was in he was unbelievable.

(08:33):
You're right, Sherman was. I don't, I'm I'm maybe, I'm sure.
I'm sure I'm short changing Sherman a little bit for
how good he was. You're right, just because I think
I think he's kind of a Jibbroni sometimes as a
media personality.

Speaker 4 (08:44):
Very as media personally, very much as Gibroni. But but
but the l or the fil that.

Speaker 3 (08:53):
We talk about, would you have him? I had a
Ronde Barber.

Speaker 4 (08:57):
I think the argument with Ronde is the same as
the Brooks. They are the you played so long, it's
half and half right. So it's just like me personally,
I love Sherman's game, but more so because of him
being different build wise. He was that to me, the

(09:18):
first like wide receiver that I knew of to go
and switch and actually have success and actually utilize the
things that made him a wide receiver as a high
level defensive back, meaning using his length, his long arms,
but actually attacking the ball in the air, tracking the
ball the way that he tracks it. And even though
it was the perfect covered three scheme that he was
a part of, he also showed that he could do

(09:40):
Man and that's when he went to San France. Better
on himself following the ACL injury if I remember correctly,
or was it Achilles? I I can't remember if his
accuses or HLS. Yeah, but from there he bets on himself, right,
no guarantees, but every week I get a million dollars.
And I mean went out there and balled out all
pro sixteen m fresh off of the Achilles injury, all

(10:02):
because he bet on himself. But you watch how this
dude played the game. Man, it's hard for me not
to have him up above Pat. And I love Pat,
fair love Pat and Pat. And I would say this
because some people will say, well, man, it was less
pressure on Pat because he's playing in Arizona. When Pat
was on Arizona, they had a run. They had a

(10:23):
little bit of a run when he was there. It
just wasn't as sustained as Sherman's run. It wasn't sustained
as Barber's run. Right, some of these other dudes Chant
Bailey reeves, right, but it was like yo, Arizona had
no They had a little bit of time, no doubt. Yeah,
But it's just hard man, it's hard man. Knowing both
of those dudes during that time frame. I'm like, man,

(10:44):
they were both elite in their own right. And yeah,
when I think of Pat Pete, I also say, man,
not just him as a corner, but also as a
return man. Stude could run them things back. We were
never worried about Sherman taking things back to the crib
picked sixes or even returns Patrick Peterson, that's yeah, it's

(11:05):
going to the other crib. It's going the other way, man,
like insane, insane, but yeah, that's where we split. Hair
is working with these dudes. I'm like, yo, if the
list would have came out and it had been Patrick
Peterson over Sherman, I still had been like yo, I
might flip that, but I wouldn't have hated it one
way or the other. Both of these dudes are great players, man,
no doubt. Both of them are great. Both of them

(11:25):
are great. Both all play for a long long time. Man,
Both of these dudes. Actually, only one of these dudes
are champions. Excuse me, I was about to say both
for champions, only one as a champion, and Sherman does
have the more all pros, which is hey, it wasn't
like there was ACFC. Don't don't. Don't take my word

(11:49):
for it, all right, I'm just saying, no way. The
boys and boys over there now and one one of
them got five all pros, one got three all pros,
all right, one got thirty seven picks, one got thirty
six picks, one got five got one got a championship
one dope, one bit to two championship games. One ain't.

(12:09):
I'm just I don't know. I don't know, Bro, You
tell me, you tell me.

Speaker 3 (12:17):
Listen. All I know is if I got Revis and Champ,
I can figure out everything else behind whoever, whatever my
depth is, I'll be fine. I'll be just fine. If
I got Rivis and even Revers.

Speaker 4 (12:27):
Would he got a a rig? Think about that? Revers?
Would he got a rig? He did? Look key, look key,
I'm hot that y'all give him one the all right?
He too young, he he't played long enough yet. That's fair.
That's fair. Y'all got teacher on the list, man, give
that list to give one got a dpoy, don't play
we're talking about here, man, deepoy, championship, all that, all pros?
But what he talking if we're gonna talk corners like
some dudes out here, Bro, it's some dudes out here.

(12:49):
If I more he would have been on this list. Man,
Come on, bro, you know I come on, man, I'm
just saying, Bro, he just nice too.

Speaker 3 (12:56):
Well, there's certainly same church, different pew for the safety
pause isition, Mozi, we got a couple couple of minutes
here until we got to get the break.

Speaker 4 (13:03):
Man, Can we start the whole show over it and
just talk this? I just want to do this the
rest of the day. Just start. I just want to
do this. Yeah, Bro, Like, don't you rush me? Don't
rush me? Man, I'm ready to go pull up the
list of all time dB from the just from two
thousand on, and we just need to go look because
I'm like, I know I'm listening to somebody. Bro.

Speaker 3 (13:20):
We can always get we could always get back into
a similar exercise.

Speaker 4 (13:23):
Now, whatever happened to Jason Seahorn. He don't get no
loving this thing. Seehe will get no talk talk. That's crazy, huh.
He don't get no talk. Before there was ever Cooper
de Gen, before there was ever an exciting way. We
all knew about this one right here, Jay Seahorn, Man,
what are we talking about? Man?

Speaker 3 (13:40):
Pretty good? Come on, man, come a couple couple rings.

Speaker 4 (13:44):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, he's one of the ones.

Speaker 3 (13:47):
Speaking of rings, there are a lot of rings at
the safety position here on this list. They take four
plus a practice squad. The two greatest safeties ever lead
off the list and Ed Reid and Troy Polamalu.

Speaker 4 (14:04):
So you said it's in order, and then my best order.
You said it's in order. Though it's in order, that's.

Speaker 3 (14:12):
An order according to list, it's order.

Speaker 4 (14:15):
It was the first thing you said. In that order.

Speaker 3 (14:16):
They had Ed Reid as number one, Troy Polamalu is
number two, my best friend Brian Dawkins is number three,
Motes's boy Earl Thomas the third as number four, and
I mentioned a practice practice squad pick. Charles Woodson was
your practice squad pick as well too.

Speaker 4 (14:36):
They gave Woodson the court, they gave whats it that
uh that JJ Tree bit. So you know what, they'll
put him as a quarter. They'll put it it's he's versatile,
he plays both. Put him in the state, get him
on the list somewhere. Where can we get Woodson on
the list, Like who is safety? I kind of would
put I kind of would put him.

Speaker 3 (14:56):
I don't know, Man, he was a corner.

Speaker 4 (15:01):
Was a corner.

Speaker 2 (15:01):
What are you talking about?

Speaker 3 (15:03):
Say, the guy has sixty five interceptions, but you're right,
most of them were at corner. Okay, fine, you.

Speaker 4 (15:10):
Know what that is. That's gonna be when they do
the next quarter century team and if Jalen Ramsey is
included and they're like, yeah, put him at safety. What's
no safety? Bro?

Speaker 3 (15:22):
What uh can I give you? Insane? Ed Reid's stat Give.

Speaker 4 (15:29):
Me something back because the ones, bro, he read one
of them ones.

Speaker 3 (15:34):
And you know how you and I value ballhawks and turnovers.
Ed Reid has picked off fifteen more passes than any
other defensive back in this quarter century. Yeah, fifteen more
in this quarter century than anybody else.

Speaker 4 (15:49):
Look, Wes. Steeler fans might be surprised by this. Okay,
there's a reason why a lot of people swore by
Ed Reid more so than than any other player. It's
because of how easy it is to see a player
go intercept the football before we talk about how you
can impact a game with the bliss, before we can
talk about we're talking about taking the football away. Man.

Speaker 3 (16:11):
Everybody can see that.

Speaker 4 (16:13):
It's literally that. So that's why the fight for Steller
Nation as always, why we view Troy over Ed Reid,
Why we feel like Troy was more impactful and a
better player than Ed Reid. Both of these dudes are insane,
but that's the argument. One has sixty four interceptions, sixty

(16:37):
are at the safety position, not corner at the safety position.
We just spent the past two years. Haulered about, man,
when we're gonna get Minka to get back to mink
and stuff? Is it coaching? Is it Minka? What's going on? Right? Man?
They can avoid him. He's in the middle of the
Phildes in safety, And we hollered about Ed Reid having sixty.

Speaker 3 (16:58):
And read ridged modes. He averaged an interception every ten quarters,
Like that's bros. It's just ridiculous. So look in an
era too, it wasn't nearly as passing.

Speaker 4 (17:11):
It at all. It's not like he's playing today. We're
there throwing at forty five times a game.

Speaker 3 (17:15):
No no, no, no, you're playing with playing Ben was
throwing about twenty times twenty four times.

Speaker 4 (17:22):
Yeah, bro, that's that's night and day. Man. But I
still take TP over him. How about that? Because I
like the physicality. I like the vers Tilly as well, man.
But that's the thing though, Man, turnovers matter. If you
could take the football away, you're gonna get talks about
at a very high level. But to me, man, whoever
you want to have at the top of the list,

(17:43):
I'm not tripping on it. I am because of the
black and goal, but I'm not tripping just in terms
of a football purest the Big three. Anybody that was
alive doing the two thousands, the Big three safeties he
read TP meat talkers, isn't a conversation about that? Is
those three and then it's everybody else. Man.

Speaker 3 (17:59):
As much as I joke about Brian Dawkins the time
that he came after me on Twitter ten years ago, Yeah, yeah,
you're absolutely right. I think Ad and Troyer are slightly above,
but he's closer to them than he is to anybody
else below him.

Speaker 4 (18:12):
Yeah, it's the big three. Like when they talk Big
three rows, Jake, Cole, Drake and Kendrick. Oh, he's nowhere.
You're as good as that. Listen, when you're in that conversation,
you are so far removed from the.

Speaker 3 (18:25):
Next, like the next, like Bro, he's a lot closer
to those the third one. Yeah, absolutely, fourth than he
is the fourth place, you know what I mean.

Speaker 4 (18:35):
So like that's the part where you know we talked
was it weapon X and all this other stuff. Man,
they came along with him then, Like, these are dudes
that defined our adolescens. Man, we're talking about us in
high school. I guess your case in middle school, right,
we all watch these dudes, and the reason why we
feel some type way abottom is because they were great players.

(18:56):
You don't feel animosity, you don't feel oh, look at
that guy when they weren't great players. But when you're
a great player, that's the guy everybody looks for because
he's got knocking everybody out. He's the guy that gets
the intereview. He's got us the headlines. And with that, yeah,
we're gonna care, we're gonna criticize you, we're gonna compare
you to our best. And I think that's the fun
part about sports in general. But yeah, there were a

(19:19):
lot of people that play safety in this NFL that
we can't name that we saw play multiple times because
they weren't great players. It's like, yeah, I don't care
about it, man, say whatever you want to say, be
a great player. Hey, hey, wish you know what the best.
But when it's a great guy, you're like, hold on now,
hold on, hold on, Hold on a minute, Wait a minute.
Hold come here, come here, come, let's talk to you
real quick. That's what you want to And that to

(19:40):
me is like the true like just testament to a
guy's you know, production on the field. But Earl Thomas, Man,
who the brothers love a brother, the love, brother the love.
Shut up the Earl Thomas Man, you were going to
make a joke. You know, I'm a family guy, you
know me. I love my family, man, I just don't
love that much. I love my family right to BROA
a lot of brotherly love going on right there, a

(20:02):
lot of brotherly love. Man. But Earl Thomas Man, I
mean er legion of boom. This dude literally sidelined two sideline,
I mean thirty picks, twelve forced fumbles, champ five time
all pro. I mean, you know, Earl Thomas was when
he was out there in Seattle and he played for
eight of the whole time out there. Dan neared ten

(20:22):
years just in one spot. That's that's big time right there.
Man been to two Super Bowls as well, Man, only
one one, but Ben the two I think that. The
reason he makes the list over Charles is when we
go back and we talk about when Charles came into
the league. Otherwise I'm for sure putting Charles Woodson on

(20:42):
this list. Earl Thomas would be practice squad man. But
because it started in.

Speaker 3 (20:47):
Two thousand, Charles second contract.

Speaker 4 (20:51):
By It's like, yeah, man, Charles, Charles had hell Grove kids,
mortgage wipe or anything by it. Man, it's time. It
was just thinking about getting into the league. Just yeah, hey,
Earl might two thousand, Earl might be in middle school
in two thousand, Bro might have been maybe a high
school because I grash six Bro.

Speaker 3 (21:11):
Yeah yeah, I'm just gonna know. I just want to
go on Madden now and make a defense with Revis
Champ and Read and Troy Paul Mall.

Speaker 4 (21:21):
Just Bro, do you know how crazy that is? You're
not throwing anywhere, running anyway. Are all century team versus
like other countries all century teams, And then we can
just do it like that that. There we go, there
we go, all right.

Speaker 3 (21:34):
We gotta get to a break. We will get this.

Speaker 4 (21:36):
I don't know if I don't want to take a break.

Speaker 5 (21:37):
I want to keep talking about defense, man, I want
to talk to you a defense, you know, any safeties
they have.

Speaker 4 (21:44):
There's a lot of safeties out here, all right, it's
some more safety that we could talk about. Man, all right,
it's a lot of safeties. Heck, it's even the young guys. Man,
I like the coming up here. It's a great safety.

Speaker 3 (21:52):
Like we have to we have to talk quarterbacks when
we get back, because.

Speaker 4 (21:56):
Is Mika gonna be on this list at some point?
Does Mika get to see get brought up?

Speaker 3 (22:00):
No means too young?

Speaker 4 (22:01):
He is baby spoiler alert.

Speaker 3 (22:04):
But Ben Roethlisberger not amongst the quarterbacks or the practice
squad quarterbacks taken. We'll tell you who is. We'll tell
you there's one specifically that I got beef with, all right,
and we'll discuss all of that on the other side
as we get to do some offense. Arthur Moates, West Shuler,
It's the Steelers Blitz on Steelers Nation Radio on the
Steelers Audio Network.

Speaker 1 (22:34):
This is the Steelers Blitz with Wesley Huler and Arthur
Mose on your twenty four to seven home of the
Black and Gold.

Speaker 3 (22:42):
As skin are rolling along here on the Blitz, as
we continue to go over have some fun discussing this
ESPN NFL All quarter Century team. Those are some thoughts
on the defense. I don't know if we're going to
have enough time to finish the offense. Here we only
tell what got about sixteen seventeen, eighteen minutes left in

(23:02):
the program. Time flies when you're having fun, I tell you,
But maybe we're.

Speaker 4 (23:05):
Talking about defense. I'm just glad that you actually started
with defense today.

Speaker 3 (23:08):
Man.

Speaker 4 (23:08):
I know you can't help it. I know you went
to quarterback from from when you woke up, but I
appreciate you, man, I appreciate it.

Speaker 3 (23:14):
I wanted to yell about Patrick Willis not being.

Speaker 4 (23:16):
On this list is craziness. Man, He's a legend.

Speaker 3 (23:20):
But there's obviously a lot of legends. All these positions
very difficult to to to decide and pick. And you
could make again good faith arguments for a ton of
guys who aren't even on the practice squad, guys like
I think Suggs is a great example by Motes bringing
him up.

Speaker 4 (23:36):
And you're not gonna have your practice use is nowhere
to be mated is say to be bro, it's safe.
It has an issue with Sugs. Somebody is upset with Suggs.

Speaker 3 (23:47):
Bro, Somebody who made this list. It's not ball so hard.
Obviously a lot of debate around the quarterbacks here too.
They took three and stashed a pair on the practice squad. Okay,
starting with to nobody's surprise, Tom Brady, who came in
the league in the year two thousand. Perfect for him
as the way that this thing shook out as well too.

(24:11):
Brady won Peyton Manning two, Patrick Mahomes three, and then
for the practice squad Aaron Rodgers and Drew Breese.

Speaker 4 (24:21):
Well, first question I have is how do you feel
about Peyton Manning being listed above Patrick Mahomes Because you
said it's an order.

Speaker 3 (24:30):
It is an order. There was a time period in
my life where I thought Peyton Manning was the best
quarterback ever, you know, back until it was undeniable that
Tom Brady was, and back until guys from Aaron Rodgers
and Pat Mahomes first onto the scene.

Speaker 4 (24:49):
Mm hmm.

Speaker 3 (24:52):
I would have Brady one, Mahomes two, and then I
know that, and I have to think about Manning a
Rogers at three. Check back. You can see how Aaron does. Okay,
I guess it doesn't matter.

Speaker 4 (25:04):
Okay, just check it because I'm just like I get
one is a five time MVP versus two time MVP.
One has nine All pros versus three. But that's literally
the longevity portion of the conversation. That's a different part

(25:25):
of where we are right now. We're talking about what
Mahomes has already done to start his career. I mean,
remember the knock on Manning for the longest was you're
a great regular season quarterback. They can't win anything in
the postseason, let alone make it to a super Bowl, right,
think about that long the conversation for the longest.

Speaker 3 (25:42):
They go four They go fourteen and two every year
and then be flame out quickly in the playoffs.

Speaker 4 (25:47):
You won and done, You're out in the wilder. You're
on the division run or not Walker because you will
get to buy out of the division over time. Or
oh you're trying to face Brady.

Speaker 3 (25:55):
I mean, you would make it to the ANFTY Championship
game and lose to Brady.

Speaker 4 (25:57):
You know what I mean? Mahomes, That is na good Mahomes.
We speak of as all right, do I want to
just pencil a man as they are going to the
Super Bowl or do you want to lie to yourself
and say, all right, is Baltimore's Buffalo is Cincinnati, and
then when it can't sit all we know it's gonna
be can City. Heck, even when we say this is
bad year, it's still like, all right, they're still going
ahead and back and go and win it the game.

(26:19):
That's my only issue with Man in being over Mahomes.
If we want to just do it for all of
the longevity portion creat great, cool, but I still me personally,
I got my homes over Man and Man like dudes,
dudes different Man when he's been able to accumulate in

(26:42):
such a short spare, he literally has half of Man's production.
Think what that?

Speaker 5 (26:50):
Yeah, Man, manly had sixty four thousand pass yards on
top my homs is thirty two all right, may even
pass or eighty seven past you got two forty five already.

Speaker 4 (27:06):
It's like joke. He came in the league in twenty seventeen.

Speaker 3 (27:11):
He need eighteen years, yet it's insane. Mainteen years yet
it's insane. And again too like I know that they
don't have the the Super Bowl accolades like he does, obviously,
but when you look at the numbers that like Josh
Allen and Joe Burrow are putting up two, they're they're
gonna be right there or passing.

Speaker 4 (27:29):
I don't think Lamar is gonna be by the time
Lamar like, yeah, think about Lamark go just as many
MVPs as mahmes. Think about that. Lamar has just as
many MVPs as mymes right now. Man.

Speaker 3 (27:43):
So my my real kind of head scratcher with this
list is.

Speaker 4 (27:47):
Drew Brees seven. Where's seven?

Speaker 3 (27:52):
I I think I would. I don't think I would
take seven, and I think I might. I think I
might take Matt Stafford over Drew Brees's What is that
a bridge too far? Am I giving Drew Brees too
much disrespect with that?

Speaker 4 (28:04):
Oh? That percent you are? Yes? Not even a debate?
Was percent you are? Bro? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (28:09):
Yeah, okay, So Breeze should be no lower than six,
is what you're telling me. If I got bet, if
I got seven and five, if you're.

Speaker 4 (28:17):
Going to put seven at five, then yes, Drew Brees
would be right behind him. I just think.

Speaker 3 (28:24):
Brees was unreal.

Speaker 4 (28:26):
He was on the outside of.

Speaker 3 (28:28):
IM.

Speaker 4 (28:29):
Yeah, I'm outside and not just recent history. Outside of
Pittsburgh circles. A lot of people viewed Drew Brees consensuously
better as a consensus better than Roger or Roethlisberger. People

(28:50):
justify that by saying he plays in a dome, which
a that could be valid. Yes, it still doesn't change
the amount of production and individual accolades and even team
success that he did have. But that is the debate.
Some people would just simply say, well, he gets to

(29:10):
play in the dome, so you don't have to deal
with the band, whether late in the year you were
with a pass happy or a offensive minded Sean Payton
down there right whereas been We know the court and
this he's dealt with. We know coach Tomlin Moore defensive mind.
But a lot of people swear by Drew brees Man,

(29:31):
and Drew was also different than the sense of man,
I was a little guy out there like it wasn't
like Drew was the the eyeball test, you feel.

Speaker 3 (29:41):
Me, there's some of those those Tampa Touo conversations with Yeah,
I think there's some of that where Drew made people
believe that you could be a Hall of Fame quarterbat
and you didn't have to be six foot four.

Speaker 4 (29:50):
Seriously, man, because of that, and you even think just
I mean, man, we know seven toughest nails, but we
know Drew also tough at nails, Like we know how
that story his career. I've got to New Orleans. Yeah,
So that's the only thing. I'm like, I don't want
to argue Roethlisberger over Drew. I think that Drew and

(30:12):
Ben should be up here together. I think that it
should be a cover behind Drew Breies. And it's like,
I get it, man, you can from the court, But
it's like, Yo, these type of dudes, though they matter,
Like seven matters in that convo, And I don't think
Eli or Philip Rivers are in that convo. I think
they're on the bottom tier of that. Because when you
were bringing up the Brady's, the Mannings, the Mahomes, the

(30:36):
Rogers and Breezes, big Ben is the only other name
during that time that is consistently a part of that conversation.
But I know that was always one of the just
as a pre stealer guy right before I came to
the Black and Goal, those were the conversations that we
always had. It was like, man, you want Bradio, you

(30:58):
want Man all right? After that? Do you want Rogers?
Do you want Breeze? All right? Now? We got seven
in the convo and then from there, it's like, Okay,
do you want Philip Rivers or do you want Eli?
And it's like, all right, Eli, or do you want
Matt Ryan? You sell these convos like the list starts
to go because Matt Ryan is another in Atlanta right now,
I'm sure they're over here, Like, bro, you're not going

(31:19):
to talk about Matt Ryan. They're not gonna took a
team to the super Bowl as well. You're not gonna
talk about Matt Ryan. He has the same amount of
super Bowl appearance as Aaron Rodgers. We're not gonna talk
about Matt Ryan's you know what I mean? Like those
those guys bring up that we know how people feel
about Eli. You know what I do, and I get
to the postseason, you know what I do? You know that,

(31:40):
you know the monster out of Slade. So it's like
that's the Eli argument. Eli's argument is like Hans Ward
argument postseason? Right, what I doing the biggest games? You
saw these moments right here. It's the Julian Edelman right,
you know what I did in these particular moments right here. Man,
But oh man, this is my love he list right here, bros.

(32:01):
Because all these dudes, all these dudes, man, I'm like, yo,
seven is in that confo though. Man, But Breeze, as
much as I would love to be like yo, bake,
get up a bout of here, it's like yo.

Speaker 3 (32:11):
Yeah, no, you're right. He's incredible.

Speaker 4 (32:14):
And they you talk about the movement in terms of
following Katrina and what he meant to that, it's like, bro,
that's a lot.

Speaker 3 (32:21):
That's that was loud. It's uh. I know you and
I have had this conversation before and at some point
in the eight years that we've been doing this show.
But I always think there's something to be said for
the guy that leads an organization to their first ever championship. Yes, yes,
very true, Like that's a hard thing to tough me.

(32:41):
The guy who breaks through for your entire organization, especially
one like that that it had been decades in decades
of of you know, to finally be Mary o Lemieux
and come and take the Penguins that have been garbage
and and breakthrough and finally make your franchise champions is
there's something to be said to be said for that.

(33:02):
Drew Brees was certainly that Okay, as.

Speaker 4 (33:05):
Much as as much as I'm still taking seven over Breeze. Breezes.
Bro Breeze is special man, He's great. Yeah, special.

Speaker 3 (33:16):
We got like seven or eight minutes left, Mozie for
one more segment on the other side. You want to
do running backs, you want to do wide receivers, I'll
give you.

Speaker 4 (33:23):
Dealersjay listen, let's tote that rock. Okay, the ball running
back man.

Speaker 3 (33:32):
We're gonna talk some We're gonna talk some running backs
when we get back on the other side. Well, Schuler,
Arthur Motes, it's the Steelers Blitz. This is the.

Speaker 1 (33:53):
Steelers Blitz with Wesley Euler and Arthur Motes on your
twenty four to seven home of the Black and Gold Skin.

Speaker 3 (34:00):
Are final segment of the Steelers Blitz here as we
close down the week, As we close down some fun
conversation of the day about this ESPN list of the
NFL's all quarter century team. Fun group here to close
us down the rock Totors, as Arthur Motes said there
before we went to break running backs. Motzi three on

(34:21):
this roster Plasse a practice squad guy number one on
the list, Priest Holmes number two, Christian McCaffrey number three,
Derek King Henry and the practice squad guy is Ladanian Tomlinson.
This one might make me feel the most type of
way of any ah. How how one is Adrian Peterson

(34:47):
not on this list?

Speaker 4 (34:48):
You?

Speaker 3 (34:49):
How is Ladaion Thomlinson fourth?

Speaker 4 (34:51):
Like?

Speaker 3 (34:51):
Okay, maybe if you he is at worshiping number two
on this list? This guy Ladania Thomason once said thirty
touchdowns in a season? What are we talking about here?

Speaker 4 (35:01):
All of Adrian Peterson's production fits this list? What are
we talking about? Bro seven?

Speaker 3 (35:11):
LT came in the late nineties, right.

Speaker 4 (35:14):
Adrian Peterson came in the league? Oh seven? The list
is from two thousand to right now. It's no where
you're gonna tell me a guy that has fourteen thousand.

Speaker 3 (35:26):
Was when LT came into the league, too know, We're now.

Speaker 4 (35:29):
About to talk about the guy that has fourteen thousand,
hundred and eighteen restaur yards, one hundred and twenty Russian touchdowns,
seven time Pro Bowl, the four Top All Pro twenty twelve,
a p m v P twenty ten Hall of Fame's
t the AP Offensive the Year, No, what do we

(35:50):
come back? So dude rushand the dude rush for days.
He rushed for two thousand y'alls following the A. C.
L Indury what this week?

Speaker 3 (35:58):
This is?

Speaker 4 (35:59):
This is so e to me.

Speaker 3 (36:00):
Give me Adrian Peterson, give me l Dayien Thomason, give
me Dereck Henry. That's all I need. I don't need
anybody else. I don't need a practice squad guy.

Speaker 4 (36:06):
I'll go.

Speaker 3 (36:07):
I'll go get somebody else somewhere.

Speaker 4 (36:10):
And I love Priest Hols even when they brought Larry Johnson.
Larry Johnson came in and it was like, Yo, this
is a nice little bro he yeah, yeah, man backfield.
But there is there isn't a conversations around the quarter
deck or quarter century team that doesn't include Adrian Peterson

(36:31):
number one, Ladadi and Thompson number two or Ladadion Thomson
number one. Is he's already in the Hall of Fame
and the Adrian Peace number two. There isn't all this
other stuff you're overthinking it. This is a we need
somebody to talk spicy about the list. That's what this
pick is. Host Christian McCaffrey.

Speaker 3 (36:50):
Great great players. What what are we talking? What are
we talking about?

Speaker 4 (36:54):
You're gonna holler about McCaffrey's ten thousand all purpose yards
over the fourteen thousand. That's just all about him. Read
of the ball as we do it, we doing all purpose.

Speaker 3 (37:05):
Of recent history, like if we're doing if we're doing,
we're doing ten running backs to the twenty first century
priest and McCaffrey, but like not one and two.

Speaker 4 (37:18):
Come on, look so so so so McCaffrey's ten thousand, Right,
we'll ride it up to eleven thousand all purpose yards. Shit,
we take that over Adrian Peterson's let's see seventeen thousand
all purpose yards. Then if we're gonna be all purpose there, right,
we all Actually it's more eighteen because I ain't even
included the nine plus the four. That's another foul if

(37:39):
we because you know what I mean. Yeah, fourteen thousand,
nine hundred four fourteen thousand, nine hundred and eighteen rushing yards,
two thousand, four hundred and seventy four receiving yards. That
is all purpose. I'm just saying, man, So yeah, yeah, man,
what metric are we gonna use?

Speaker 3 (37:56):
I didn't get I didn't get that one. I really didn't.
I really did it. That was the one of all
these like none of these shocked None of these shocked me,
you know what I mean? Like there there were a
couple that where I was kind of like that guy
ahead of that, like like what, I don't think any
of these really like that shocked me.

Speaker 4 (38:12):
Heck man, I'm just like that this stuff. If you
were comparing McCaffrey to just guys like Jamal Lewis, right,
remember Jamal Lewis Ravens, it's like if you were doing that,
sure McCaffrey over that guy. If you're comparing McCaffrey to
miss Smith, it's like, yeah, man it this was the

(38:34):
back end of it, so yeah, man, that guy should
be over him. But like, like, you're not gonna tell
me all of your yardsts combined, it still isn't more
than just this dude' running the ball.

Speaker 3 (38:46):
Like I don't get it. I don't get it, my friend,
I don't get tough.

Speaker 4 (38:52):
It's a little bit tough.

Speaker 3 (38:54):
This show is it?

Speaker 4 (38:55):
Show is heck? Heck, we're CJ two K. You know,
let's ce J two K. I guess I ain't talk funny.
It's all good, it's all good. It's all good. I
get it. I get it. Maybe they were comparing this,
they were comparing these guys to Jerome Bettest, That's what
it was. They were like you know what Bettest, I

(39:16):
mean from two thousand or Bettest was on the bank. Yeah,
maybe that's what they compared it too. I don't know, bro,
I don't know I would like it. I don't like
it at all.

Speaker 3 (39:26):
You funny man, I like you. This was fun. This
was a good expert the kind of that I like
doing this time of year where I don't even have
to the only reason I have to look at the
clock is to make sure we're not going too long winded,
because there's not a lot of fun in these conversations.
You and I both enjoy the nostalgia, and I mean
this was like this was a perfect wheelhouse too, because
it was right when we were growing up slash adults.

(39:49):
You playing in the league, you know, me me working
in the league, and so yeah, I enjoyed that.

Speaker 4 (39:55):
Today I'm just thinking of the about it. Redding bags man,
I'm like, there's a lot of dudes, there's a lot
of redding bags. Were the even Jackson I'm still talking
about where Stephen Jackson at. Steve Jackson good to love
it his list? Huh, it's the area of Foster here,
where's Aaron Foster at? You've got McCaffrey and I'm just
I'm bringing up names.

Speaker 3 (40:10):
Man.

Speaker 4 (40:11):
Just I'm sorry, listen, we're supposed to getting off. We're
editing the show. I'm sorry, I'm gonna stop. I'm just.

Speaker 3 (40:20):
There's also a running back that went to that school
located in the Oakland District of Pennsylvania, whom now you
can never you can never, you can never accuse me
of not being fair and balanced. All right, we need
getting on the show and not mentioned shady all right.

Speaker 4 (40:39):
Huh we didn't get to that one. Huh. This is crazy.
It is.

Speaker 3 (40:43):
Dude like led the league in rushing for a few
straight years. All right, this was a lot of fun today.
