Speaker 1 (00:00):
Euler and Motes are on the air.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
This is the Stealers Blitz on your twenty four to
seven Home of the Black and Gold. Asking are Steelers
Nation radio?

Speaker 1 (00:21):
Well, well, well, our number two, Hello, Arthur Motes, Wesley Uler,
Stealers Blitz and still his Nation. If you feel a
good out there? Can I hear you police make some noise?

Speaker 3 (00:34):
Oh yeah, okay, okay, okay, y'all in the build the day.

Speaker 1 (00:38):
I likes it. I likes it. Well, would it being
our number two feeling good?

Speaker 4 (00:44):
Can we start it off by talking about something that's
pretty cool, pretty light, and pretty exciting for us amusement
park people.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
Okay, because ladies and gents, for those of you that
don't know, there happens to be this super cool roller
coaster at Kenny Well by the name of the Steel
Curtain Yay. Originally making his debut back in twenty nineteen
Yay and up until last year twenty twenty four, it

(01:15):
was actor. But it took a break, it stopped, It
took a pause. Okay, took a little leapier, a little
a little gap year. It's a little gap year. But
it made its return officially back at Kenny Wood with
a couple of the local celebrities man making their way
out there for the uh you know, reintroduction of said

(01:39):
thrill roller coaster. Guys like super Bowl champ Mike low
Gas shout out the low get shot out the mic.
And then on top of that, you also got one
of my oh yes, of course cool years. You know
that one of my former teammates, Matt Space shot out
the big Spafe Space always in the bill. You know that.
You know that? Good dude. Hey, I don't know if
you heard of this fifth round draft pick from the

(02:01):
twenty twenty five NFL Draft with the Pittsburgh Steelers played
at Iowa. It's a mammoth of a man goes by
the name of hy Yay Black. That's a great name,
by the way, a great name.

Speaker 5 (02:15):
It is a great name.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
And I love to see the rookies getting out there
and getting in the commit Let.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
The rookies eat, man, Let the rookies get out there.
I hopefully he got some of them potatoes, skin and fried.
You got some good fries out there, ice fries, cakes,
you know, yya yya. If you don't know this, you
need to know. We talk food here. We like food
in Pittsburgh. Okay, if you like food, you gonna like us. Okay,
yya got a feeling, I got a feeling to be
his size. He's got to be a fan of food

(02:41):
as well too, I would hope. So I hope it's
a love relationship, not a love hate relationship, all right.
So yes ya black was in the building, And of
course we couldn't have, you know, a fun time without
Stittley McBean taking some time to you know, make his
presence felt as well, of course, but a fish back

(03:01):
active and uh, just a little bit of history or
a little bit of context on the throw ride as well. Man,
Uh like I said, man two hundred and twenty foot Drop,
which is officially the tallest roller coaster in the state
of Pennsylvania, and it also has the highest inversion in
North America with nine thrilling upside down twist in turns.

(03:25):
Just to let you know, we all like that, all right,
when we throw out, you know what I'm saying, We're
gonna do a ride. It's gonna be a big boy
ride that's also decorated with the right colors. You know
that we started, we striped up logo. We're looking good.
But then when it gets your throwts throw on it, man,
just like you said, man with Kenny Wood, obviously, we
know how close that relationship is man. In terms of
Pittsburgh Steelers, Kenny Wood officially part of the Kenny Woods

(03:48):
Steelers Country as well. We remember how big of a
deal this was in twenty nineteen when the ride first
opened up. But now it's officially back somewhatime. Right here, Man,
what's up? Talk to me? Baby?

Speaker 5 (04:00):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (04:01):
I love this because I enjoy roller coasters and I
am getting to the age where I'm looking for summertime
activities my two young children, and so funny enough, the
last time that I went to Kennywood was the summer
of twenty nineteen. Like, I haven't been to Kennywood since

(04:26):
we were all blissfully unaware of work from home and
what COVID or any of that.

Speaker 1 (04:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (04:32):
Yeah, the last time I went, my wife and I
it was like a random summer day. My sister was
still in high school at that time, you know, like
she's ah finished her junior year in college, so she's
twenty one and you know, almost done with college now.
I think she might have just finished like her sophomore
junior year of high school something like that. And so

(04:53):
my wife and I took my sister and one of
her friends to Kennywood for the day in like June
of twenty nineteen, and that's the last time I was there.
And I was fortunate enough to get a chance to
check out Steelers Country and everything back then, because it's awesome,
and I know that, like they had some remodeling and

(05:14):
some stuff that they've been doing that you know, gap
year and all those things to tweak some things and
all of that, and just you know, in general, twenty
the summer of twenty twenty was a weird one, like
and even the summer of twenty twenty one still a
little bit as well too. So looking back on it,
I'm very fortunate that I that I got a chance

(05:35):
to ride it in twenty nineteen, because I feel like
for a lot of yensers it's still like it I'll lose.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
So seriously, man to do for me, I haven't had
a chance to get on it because, like you, twenty nineteen,
I remember when it first released and I was like, man,
I forget why we didn't go usually go every year.
With my children being in grave squabviously a little bit
older than yours or I guess a lot older in
the US. Is I want to graduate in like four days?
Holy spokes. Yeah, it's crazy. It's still crazy, man. But

(06:03):
we would typically go every year because of their schools,
and I remember nineteen we ended up not going. Then
we obviously have the COVID situation, and I want to
say we went last It was either last year ye
were four last was the last time we went, But
the rod wasn't either it wasn't open or they weren't. No,
it was actually because it wasn't open last year yea,

(06:24):
So it was last year time frame. Yeah, but we
couldn't get on. I was like, dang, man, i'ma have
to come back for one of these times when the
rod is available. Because we all saw those pictures, I
believe it was. It might've been move No it was.
I feel like it was moved. No, no, no, it
could have been moved. Wasn't moved. I feel like it
was some tight end though, man, back then when we
had initially dropped it in twenty nineteen, because I remember,

(06:45):
like seeing the picture of the dude on the run,
I'm like, oh man, this is like crazy right here,
like shout out. Man, I like it that January or
somebody could have been. It could have been somebody like that,
you know what I mean, Like yeah, because I'm like
back in nineteen, I'm like, yo, some of these dudes
were definitely still in college back there, you know what
I mean. That's the other part. Yeah, But I'm just like, man,
it's just so cool though, because we all talk about,

(07:07):
you know, roller coasters, and it's something that I mean,
me and you both were big roller coasters people. I
know growing up. Man, I had Kings Demean and bush
guards growing up, so I was constantly trying to get
on the ride. I wanted to be the one that
rides every roller coaster, sitting in the front seat, like
let's do it. So now to see something like this
man that also nationally has its you know, markings as

(07:28):
well as for the state being the tallest roller coaster
as well, I think that was pretty cool. And then
for once again the Pittsburgh Stills to be a part
of it. We talk about the impact, we talk about
it's not always about what you're doing on in the field.
Sometimes it's getting into this community. And Mike Logan, a
Super Bowl champ from you know, back in his timeframe
to the Ya Blacks of today's draft, and then you

(07:49):
have the bridging of the gap with the Matt Spaith.
To me, man, I think that's important that the Steels
continue to do this type of stuff. And when they do,
you know, I like to take some time to acknowledge
them on that as well.

Speaker 3 (08:00):
Yeah, one hundred percent, particularly this time of year right
when we got plenty plenty of time as well too.
But yeah, they're listen, there are certain One of my
favorite is I get older cliches, right, is the more
things change, the more they stay the same, Because I
think that that's in this like new crazy technology AI

(08:22):
World and everything, and everybody's cars or computers and you know,
all this stuff that we got going on.

Speaker 1 (08:28):
That's because you'd be getting on of them new fancy cars.
You know, you big money over there. Man. You don't
ride the regular cars like us regular people. You got
the cars from Star Wars. Yeah, yeah, can't have money.
Now what they say, Kane had it? You fly private?
I know, I know he fly private at least eight
times out the year. Okay, at least eight times out

(08:49):
the year. You fly private. I can't speak with you guys, say,
but at least eight times out the year you fly
private at least. Yeah, sometimes more than that, probably about
ten times.

Speaker 3 (08:58):
I think it was eleven last year. See what I'm saying,
We drove, We drove the ten ten?

Speaker 1 (09:06):
What does t s A? What do you mean? I
gotta go through bag check? What y'all don't just deliver it?
What do y'all do it?

Speaker 2 (09:14):
In?

Speaker 3 (09:15):
I think in most places, the more things change, the
more they stay the same in a lot of ways.
But I think particularly in smaller cities like Pittsburgh that
have kind of a more personal home kind of feel
as opposed to a New York City or a Chicago
or a Philly or one of these massive, massive cities,
the more things change, the more certain staples of Pittsburgh

(09:39):
as beloved or more beloved than ever before, right like
Hines and mister Rogers in the Eaton Park Cookies, you
know what I mean, Like a lot of these things
that culturally we identify with this Pittsburgh Iron City beer.
Kennywood is one of the the Pittsburgh Steelers, a Terrible

(10:02):
Terrible towl like the with a lot of these cultural
touch points in Pittsburgh. The more things change, the more
they stay the same. Kenywood is absolutely one of those.

Speaker 1 (10:12):
Yea, I like the blending of it. You can go
to Kenny With at any point in time and you'll
see a terrible toler on there.

Speaker 3 (10:17):
Guarantee, somebody in the Hines war Jersey somewhere.

Speaker 1 (10:28):
Roethlisberger seven out there with a terrible towel guarantee.

Speaker 3 (10:32):
But that is it is in a weird way, and
I'm sure you can relate to this. I both adore
and it drives me crazy at times. Uh how we
kind of have that nostalgia I think more so than
a lot of places in Pittsburgh. Like it's sometimes I
think it holds us back in a little bit of ways,
but at other times, like I love the deep appreciation

(10:53):
that we do have for the cultural touchstones around here.
Mister Rogers Hines eat in par Terrible Tale, and like
I said, Kennywood is absolutely one of those.

Speaker 5 (11:04):
It's on the t shirts, it's on the signs.

Speaker 1 (11:06):
It is.

Speaker 3 (11:06):
Part of living in this region is going to Kennywood
and you know, spending a summer day or a couple
of summer days there.

Speaker 1 (11:13):
No absolutely, and we do encourage you still his nation,
especially if you're coming out into the city. Man during
the summertime. Man, even when training camp comes along. You know,
if you're coming to the town for training camp and
he got some time on your hands, go check out
Kenny Wood. Man, it is a beautiful amusement park.

Speaker 4 (11:27):
Man.

Speaker 1 (11:28):
And he said, Man, guys like Mike Logan, who grew
up in the Homestead area, you hear him talk or
soons we grew up in the West Mifflind area. You
hear him talk about just the closeness of Kennywood. And
you know what it meant for him growing up. He
was like, Man, when he grew up, he said, all
he knew about was Kenny Wood, so he thought that
was the only amusement park in the world. And because
he was born in the seventies, he said, he thought
the only team is to win Super Bowls with the Steelers.

(11:50):
So he's like, you know, when you think about those
two things, for him, he's like, man, Kennywood is always
going to be a staple for him. And like I said,
a guy like myself, man who loves roller coasters, who's
you know, tries to get on rose Eve when I
shouldn't even ride. I would to ride Ridler's do it,
you know, to have something like that here Airfort to
have that black and gold Pittsburgh Steelers theme with it. Man,

(12:11):
I always thought that was cool. And then oddly enough, Man,
you know, I had to have the full circle this one.
So I'm reading up on the article, okay, And you know,
it's multi faceted when you have events, right, you got
the people that get out there, you know, the talent us.
We get out there and we're the face that we
get the pictures, the headlines, we do all the interview

(12:32):
and stuff. Then you know you'll have the behind the
scenes guys, the sponsors, the guys who you know, get
the deals done and things like that. And I'm reading
the name and I'm like, huh, Ryan, who's Jack still Is,
vice president of Stills in Marketing talking about how they missed,
you know, being back out there, wanted to get you know,
the still carry back in action and Kenny Wood and

(12:53):
I'm like, where's were we just talking about the Flag
Football Championship for girls, yes a week ago web site
clear how I said the head coach for that day
go the game two.

Speaker 5 (13:06):
We gotta get him on the show here. At some
point sir, something like god.

Speaker 1 (13:10):
Right, you're everywhere right now, all right, so shout out around,
who's Jack? All right, there's Stills, vice president, self's marketing.
My man is up, will Okay? My man literally a
week ago he was coaching girls flag football, his daughters
watching him win a championship, getting activated. And now you
fast forward a couple of days later, my man is
out here making sure that Katy was his back, popping
a percolate and getting ready for the off season with

(13:30):
the steel curtain officially returning. All right, So shout out
Brian Man, and shout out to the Black and Gold,
and like we said, Man, shout out to just the community,
showing that, like you said, we're more than just a
football team. Anybody can just play the sport, but you
want to have impact. And this is part of why
we're able to have a show the way that we
have it, because of that closeness, because of how we

(13:52):
bridge the gap between the fan base, the community, and
the organization. And this is just another one of those dings.
And like you talk about whether eating Park where there's
mister Rogers, where there's all the Blue Slide park included, right,
all these different things from Annie's This is why, because
we say it doesn't matter who you are, it doesn't

(14:12):
matter where you come from, it doesn't matter what you
look like, how much you have in your bank account. Man,
we all know how to have fun. We all know
how to go out there dad Town, hit over there
the candy wood and have us a good time on them.
Rowley Coasty's. I so with that being the case, man
shout out the candy will. But let's take a break
real quick. Man, get the clock back going away that
it's opposed to, but don't touch that down. I'm Arthur Motes.

(14:35):
That's Wes Leola, and this is the Steelers Blitz.

Speaker 2 (14:50):
The Steelers Flit with Wesley Huler and Arthur Mose on
your twenty four seven Home of the Black and Gold cas.

Speaker 1 (14:57):
Skin are Arthur most Wes back in the saved those
second segment of the second Hour, Oh the Stealers Blitz
in west Man. You know, I was I was thinking
about this roller coaster. I was thinking about this whole
Kenny assist in this scenario, and I totally forgot. I
was like, you know what, I haven't rolled the roller
coaster just yet, but I think you said you rolled

(15:18):
the roller coaster, and my crack on that you've actually
got a chance to ride it. We're talking about this
because it's still curtain is back. Like I said, I
haven't had a chance. Man, you were boost on the
ground obviously for OTAs, because you are the big jay journalists,
all right, So even though you didn't realize you were
gonna be boost on the ground, you was boost on

(15:39):
the ground for us. You was just you know, ahead
of time, back to twenty nineteen. So give me a breakdown.
And on his ride, it's because I've actually never wrote it.
I've heard about it. I see the pictures of it.
Everybody looks like they're big smiles when they're riding the ride.
I've just never actually done it, you know what I mean.
But it looks pretty cool. So if you could remember
just just lyinding to clock back about six years, all right,

(16:00):
give it take a few months too, you know what
I mean? But what you about this m about this day?
You know what?

Speaker 5 (16:06):
It is funny because like when I I know I've
talked about you this.

Speaker 3 (16:11):
I've admitted this before, Like I I am aware of
the fact that I have a very cool job. And
even though it's times that it could be difficult and
and still feels like a job. Like I am very
aware of the fact that I have a very cool
job and I'm very fortunate to do what I do.
When people try and hype that up with me, sometimes
I get real kind of like shy and timid about.

Speaker 5 (16:31):
It because I because like I know, I know I'm
fortunate to do what I do.

Speaker 3 (16:37):
To get to work with somebody like to be you
know a lot of my bodies you're in their office
today for eight hours, Like I was at Steelers practice
for work.

Speaker 1 (16:44):
You were in the office, you were in the field office.
You were in the field office today.

Speaker 3 (16:47):
I And so while a lot of times when people
are like, it's so cool what you get to do,
or they tell me that they love listening to us
that type of thing, I appreciate the heck out of it.
I think it's awesome, but I'm also always kind of
like awkward and timid it and don't exactly know how
to handle it. But if you ask me about like, oh,
you've seen this band live, what were they like, Yeah,

(17:09):
you wrote this roller coaster?

Speaker 1 (17:10):
What was it like?

Speaker 3 (17:10):
I'm like, here, buddy, do you want an essay? How
long do I have. Can I talk to you for
twenty minutes without you saying anything? Let me tell you
about the first song the band played, and then let
me tell you about the second song the band played.

Speaker 1 (17:20):
And see, yeah, this is my wheehouse right here. I
feel a real cuff, real quick. Let me let me
talk to you. Let me talk to you. Goodness.

Speaker 3 (17:25):
When someone says to me you've been to the sphere,
what was it like? I hope you have a half
an hour of free time to hear me talk before
I take a breath.

Speaker 5 (17:33):
I so it was twenty nineteen.

Speaker 3 (17:36):
So I am thirty four now, geez luise, So that
would have been six years ago?

Speaker 1 (17:42):
Why eight eight?

Speaker 3 (17:44):
Yeah, it was the first time in a long time
that I got my hair blown back by a roller coaster. Okay, okay,
I I love roller coasters. I like to think I'm
a little bit snobby because I've been to so many
been four sure enough, to so many amusement parks. And
when I was growing up, like, you don't get scared
unless it's a looper two in there. That was, you know,

(18:07):
down taking trips to Cedar Point and King's Dominion and
Hershey Park.

Speaker 1 (18:11):
Yes, Dad and I would do that.

Speaker 3 (18:15):
Throughout the summers growing up, like we'd pick one amusement
park and go hit it for a weekend or something
like some riots. Oh Man, the Great Bear at Hershey
Park was one of my OG's about twenty years ago.
But it's obviously as you get older, it's still a
lot of fun and everything, and I still enjoy it,
but it's very rare that I'm kind of like or like,

(18:36):
you know, like shook or nervous or anything like that.
Partner when we were getting to the top of that thing,
and like you said, highest roller coaster in Pennsylvania, and
you get up there and you're kind of looking around
and you're like, this is.

Speaker 5 (18:49):
I'm the only is that Hershey? Can I see Hershey Park?

Speaker 1 (18:54):
I can see everything?

Speaker 5 (18:56):
Is that Steubenville, Ohio? Across the border that way?

Speaker 1 (19:01):
I tell you what?

Speaker 5 (19:02):
And then you have that drop like it was.

Speaker 3 (19:05):
It was, you know, probably for the first time since
I was like, you know, eighteen, nineteen, twenty years old,
and what I think might be for one of the
last times in my life, I was like, I was
a little like I don't.

Speaker 5 (19:16):
Want to like I'm looking for the word, but.

Speaker 3 (19:18):
Because I don't want to say, like uncomfortable because it wasn't.

Speaker 5 (19:21):
Like wait, when you're a steamish screamish, that's the word
I'm looking.

Speaker 1 (19:24):
Yeah, you felcused on one hundred floor. Hold on a
little bit, hee ha.

Speaker 5 (19:32):
We a little hot kids in the air and hot
dog in it. You're like, you're sitting there trying to
play it cool.

Speaker 3 (19:39):
Yeah, I got I got got my younger sister with me, Like,
I'm not trying to look.

Speaker 1 (19:43):
Like I'm I'm like, play cool. I'm not scared. I'm
not scared. No, I'm just serious. I'm not scared though,
I'm not scared at all now, I'm just serious.

Speaker 5 (19:52):
I was a little squeamish.

Speaker 3 (19:53):
It was the first time and still the last time
that I've been a little squeamish because it was good man,
it was.

Speaker 1 (19:59):
It's a legit.

Speaker 3 (20:00):
There's a couple really cool like barrel rolls and loops
and everything.

Speaker 5 (20:06):
Yeah, it's it's great.

Speaker 3 (20:07):
And I tell you what, it's obviously very popular and
there are a lot of people like Arthur Motes that
are jones in to get their ride. So I would
recommend be there when they open and go straight there. Okay,
that's what we did in twenty nineteen, and we didn't
have to wait very long.

Speaker 5 (20:23):
But by the.

Speaker 3 (20:23):
Time done, like the line was, you know, was was
crazy long.

Speaker 1 (20:29):
Now, now, are you a front seat rider, middle seat rider?
Are you more of a backseat rider when you ride?
And let us know also, man, for our people that
are tuning in right now, power Grid, Mega Wise, are
y'all or are you all roller coaster to people? And
if you are specifically the roller coaster people out there,
because I know some people are gonna say, man, look,
I'm not about to pay extra money. They scared myself,
I'll pay go eat the funnel cakes, the French fries,

(20:52):
go play the arcade like I'm good. But for the
thrill seekers, the ones that aren't wired all the way right,
I put myself in that category where it's like, yes,
I know I'm going to be scared, even though I
know it's safe. But it's something about when you're going
two hundred miles an hour dropping from three hundred feet
in the air, you know, a steep decline. It's not
like you know when you're on the interstate and it's

(21:13):
like a gradual no, no, we're talking those do all right.
So it's designed to make you feel nervous. It's designed
to make your psychological feel uncomfortable. Okay, firing. Yeah, But
for those of you that out there, are y'all front
seat riders? Are you middle seat riders? Are you back
seat riders? And do you you know frown upon those

(21:34):
that sit in certain locations like west There have been
times in my life where because I only would sit
in the front seat, like I had to the front row,
if you set in the middles out, that don't count
you one of those you're in the middle, it doesn't count.
Are you at the back, it doesn't count. Oh, that's

(21:55):
just not the same.

Speaker 5 (21:58):
I prefer front seat riding, or at least like front.

Speaker 1 (22:03):
Middle, you know what I mean? Close to?

Speaker 3 (22:05):
I will say, though, and again, I like, I haven't been.
I'm in a little bit of a law here now.
It's it's been six years since I've been to an
amusement park because of COVID and then now because my
kids are still a little too young for it. But
I was also a what's the shortest line guy a
lot of times as well, So I would try and

(22:26):
sit towards the front or at least really close. But
like if there was one line towards the back that
I was like who was the last? Or like like
one thing that I used to always like to do before,
you know, in my younger days, before before uh Steeler
Country and the Steel Curtain, the Phantom's Revenge and the

(22:49):
Exterminator at Kenny Wood, and so what I would like
to do a lot of times is as soon as
the park opens, go ride those go sit in the front,
well exterminator. Everything was its own cars. That's a little
bit of a different one. There wasn't necessarily like a
wait for the front and exterminator. Everyone's in the front
and the exterminator.

Speaker 1 (23:09):
But like the method to it, I hate the method,
the strategy.

Speaker 3 (23:12):
Let us go, Like I would go ride the Phantom
and be right at the front in the and wait
a few extra minutes if I had to to ride
the front, no big deal. Then go ride the exterminator
and then go back and do the Phantom again. But
just do like, okay, at this point, whatever is the
quickest line, let go. That was usually my That was
usually my gu.

Speaker 1 (23:32):
My very I wish I had a method to my madness.
When I was younger, when I would just go because
I'm like yo, I would just ride and I would
wait and he'd be like, I hate this weight, but
I'm just gonna wait and I'm just gonna ride. I
never had a strategy of go to the one that
usually has the longest wait first. I knocked that out
ahead of time. They get all the other ones after

(23:53):
the fect Yeah, I was over here like, oh, that's
I would have write this for the course. I would
have ride that way and just getting it, gettos getting on,
but shout out man.

Speaker 3 (24:00):
That was usually the method. Get there, get there and
beat the huge crowd and get a front row ride,
and then you know, we go back once or twice more,
just whatever's quickest.

Speaker 1 (24:10):
I like it. Not of course, I got to chase
the shiny object real quick. Wifey is she roller coaster
and no roller coasters? She is?

Speaker 3 (24:20):
She I don't think is like thrill seeking for it
in the way that I do. But like she she will,
she will go on them absolutely like she doesn't.

Speaker 5 (24:31):
She doesn't.

Speaker 3 (24:31):
She doesn't hate it, you know, like type thing, like
she enjoys it. She's she's a cat casual. That's probably
the best way to put it. Okay, she likes like
the thunderbolts and that she likes the old school wooden
roller coasters.

Speaker 1 (24:44):
You know. But she.

Speaker 3 (24:49):
Like she'll she'll go see the concert. She's not buying
a T shirt or anything.

Speaker 1 (24:54):
Yep, Yep, I could dig it. I can dig it.
See my wife, man, She's like, yeah, if they ride
it the coaster you ride from the coast, that getting
on that thing, I'll be like, yopy, one of.

Speaker 5 (25:05):
Us has to be down here on the ground just
a case.

Speaker 1 (25:09):
I'm always the crazy with like, ah, probably shouldn't blood.
Here we go, We go, count and clicks again.

Speaker 3 (25:17):
Click yeah, click, I got click, go with it.

Speaker 5 (25:23):
And Morgan's not.

Speaker 3 (25:24):
Morgan's not like she's not waiting in line for the
same ride mault time.

Speaker 5 (25:27):
She ain't doing none of that nonsense.

Speaker 1 (25:30):
Let's go, man, Let's go. And I love that right there.
Like I said, you always gonna ask because I always
feel like there's always, you know, two types of people
in this world.

Speaker 3 (25:37):
Man.

Speaker 1 (25:37):
You got the ones that ride rides, ones that don't
ride rise people that will wait in line, people that
will absolutely not. They're like, yo, I don't want to
ride any ride that I gotta wait twenty minutes to
ride if I can't just get right on it, I
don't want to ride, and I get it. I definitely
get those people. But like at the other side, it's like, yo,
but good things come those who wait at tops. All right,

(25:58):
you can't. You can't get all the ways scared, can
get all the way thrilled. If you don't wait for
the front seat, you get that frenzy, man, you get
all the way thrilled. So steal his nation. You hear us,
You hear we're talking about it. You hear the excitement.
Like we said, man, the steel curtain is officially back
open at Kenny Wood the Black and Gold. We've already
tested it out. Mike Logan approved, Matt Spade approved, and

(26:19):
even the stealest fifth round draft pick, the Big Man,
hy Ya Black approved. And if Yya can ride this ride,
then anybody can ride the ride. All right. I'm started
out there too, Okay, So yeah, shout out the ya.
Shout out the ya all and the beam as well.
I can't gotta get get steal some love stee But
I like that right there.

Speaker 4 (26:38):
Man.

Speaker 1 (26:38):
All right, So with that be in the case, man,
I guess we should get back on schedule and get
back to our football topic. Since we do, got on
I guess segment left, sof that be in the case,
don't touch the dow. It's Arthur Motes, That's what's the ruler.
And this is the Steelers Blitz.

Speaker 2 (27:04):
Is the Steelers Blitz with Wesley Huler and Arthur Motes
on your twenty four to seven Home of the Black and.

Speaker 1 (27:10):
Gold Skin r alrighty, it's toime final segment of today's show.
Arthur Motes, Wes le Hueler and yes, this is the
Stealers Blitz. You've been tapped into, tuning into and listening,
enjoying and laughing along the way. As we have talked
about the Stealers officially beginning phase to have organized team

(27:33):
activities more commonly known as OTA's, we've heard West talk
about my man Troy Foultanu because he was boots from
the ground and had a chance to not just see him,
but have a conversation with the twenty twenty four first
round draft pick. Then we just got done wrapping up
about that good old stale cart three ride. Candy Wood

(28:00):
is bag Baby, it is back. Whoo. So we love
all of that love.

Speaker 5 (28:05):
Summertime in the city gets no better.

Speaker 1 (28:08):
But we also have a new addition to the black
and Gold family, Ladies and gents, It's time. We've all
been hoping and wishing and praying that, you know, we
would see some type of movement on the transactional wire,
and it has officially happened. We have movement on the

(28:29):
transactional wire. We sogned of wire receiver. Ladies and gents,
sogned to war received by the name of Montana Limonious Craig.
Shout out the Montana Limonius Craig. Five year collegiate dude
man coming out of let's see, started out in Colorado's
first three years up until twenty twenty two. Then his

(28:50):
final two years twenty twenty three and twenty twenty four
was playing in Arizona. Man where you know, during that timeframe,
man forty five catches, four and sixty eight yards and
four touchdowns. And during his time at Colorado, and this
is pre Deon Sanders, pre that era because obviously that's
when they took over in twenty twenty three. But up

(29:13):
until that point, Man his best collegiate season while at
Colorado was twenty twenty two. We had twenty three receptions,
three hundred and fifty nine yards and three touchdowns. But
more importantly, man, the cool thing about mon excuse me,
the cool thing about Montana is this. When we did
our Ricky tryouts right for Ricky Minnie camp, we talked

(29:36):
about how we had signed Trey Sermon, the former running back, right,
Gareth Warren the big offensive lignment, and Max Herlaman as well. Well.
Montana was also a part of that group that worked
out during that Ricky Mini camp. And even though they
didn't sign him initially, they circled back to him and
ultimately signed him. And yeah, now he's gonna be rocking

(29:59):
that beautiful numberumber fourteen as well. Shout out to number
fourteen in your heart. The new guy, all right, but
shout out man. So uh yeah, a new addition, man,
another guy that has survived the Ricky Mini Camp, like
you said, didn't happen initially like the other guys we
read off. But Montana Lamonious Craig, the new number fourteen

(30:21):
wild receiver joining the fold. Man. It's wanted to see,
you know, he had energy. Any thoughts or you know,
just quick comments on Limonious Craig. That's a heck of
a name, by the way, it sure is. That's a
fantastic name.

Speaker 5 (30:35):
One the key in p AL I think would really
appreciate as well too.

Speaker 1 (30:38):
You got to stop this vix.

Speaker 3 (30:41):
But you know what, like I this is one of
those kind of you know, see how the sausage is
made type things like I think he legitimately signed right
before practice and why I think that is because the
brilliant Steelers PR team gave us all a roster and
he not on it. M Okay, there's no number fourteen

(31:04):
on this list. And remember DK metcalf is number four Okay, yeah,
DK is than before GP once was the befourteen. Correct,
dis nem was open. George Pickens ain't on his roster either,
is Montana lilimonious Craig and I mean his they announced
his signing I think like right as practice was beginning
type thing. It seemed like, so hey, I am all

(31:29):
for getting a look at as many UDFA wide receivers
as possible for this Steelers team. You know, we've seen
different varying degrees, right, but it does always seem like
there's people emerging. Maybe not every single year, but almost
every single year is a UDFA that can give you
something as a rookie, whether we're talking Beanie Bishop whether

(31:52):
we're talking Jalen Warren, whether we're talking guys like Mike
Hilton and Ramon Foster in the past, and to me,
I would really like it if that guy came at
wide receiver this year, particularly now as we've had the
trade of George Pickens and still nothing in the wake
of that. You know, you and I talked about I'm
John a blank on his name now Rock Taylor out

(32:14):
of Memphis. But some of some of these wide receivers
who are gonna have some opportunities, and you know, MLC
maybe as we'll call him for now. You know, guy
who had some success at Colorado has some success at Arizona.
I don't think last year, I mean seventeen catches. I
think he was envisioning more than that in his final season.
We know though that they won, didn't have the best

(32:36):
year and to his teammate, one of his teammates was
the first wide receiver taken McMillan.

Speaker 5 (32:43):
McMillan in the top ten.

Speaker 3 (32:45):
So I think, listen, he has some stuff that if
you cut it on on tape, looks, you know, like
there is a lot of talent within this guy played
high level college football at Colorado and Arazon. Like I said,
these are the type of UDFA guys I want to
see coming in here because if they could find kind

(33:07):
of one of these diamond in the roughs at the
wide receiver position. I'm not gonna say that I'm expecting
somebody or even like asking for someone to be the
wide receiver number two this year, but with some of
the uncertainty about that position still some of the question
marks that remain. For like, as high as I think
we all are on what Roman Wilson can be, until
we see it type thing, I would really I would

(33:28):
really like one of these UDFA wide receivers to emerge
as gonna be have to be legit on teams as
we all know, to be part of this, but to
be able to put their hand in the pile and
contribute in a significant way to the offense on game
days as well.

Speaker 1 (33:44):
No, without a doubt, and I mean at least when
we're talking about taking flywers on guys, taking chances on guys,
give me something to excite me. Six good size thirty
five inch vert four or five four is is uh
forty times, so you can see some athleticism, some explosiveness,
but six to one that's the big thing. That's a
big wide receiver at least on paper, you know what

(34:07):
I mean. And you also look at from a collegiate standpoint,
he averaged twenty point five yards of reception. He was
more of a down the grass type of guy as well.
Which when we're talking about George Pickens moving on, and
you look at a Rock Taylor, we talk Rock Taylor
and we're excited about Rock because he's a big body

(34:28):
down the grass receiver type. When you think about Montana
Lamonious Craig, I'm gonna say it the whole way too,
because I like Montana Limonius Craig, but this is a
bigger body down the grass type of guy as well.
So you can see where the Steelers are trying to
find at least similar body types, similar talent, or similar

(34:49):
skill sets to ultimately try to offset some of the
loss in production that will be you know, due to
the fact of the trade from George Pickens. I, like
I said, for what we're trying to get accomplished right now,
and with the group that we have outside of DK
Metcalf and Calvin Austin, it's like everybody else man, we're new.

(35:10):
We gotta get familiar with you the Roman Wilson's of
the world, even the Robert Woods of the world, who
are veterans at this stage. What version are we getting though,
kind of like when we look at Darius Slage, just
a little bit different conversation because the difference Houze is
the ball. But it's like, man, what's stopping on Montana
from coming in here and pushing one of those guys?
Right we talked about a Rock Taylor. There are not

(35:32):
a lot of big receivers with jumping ability on our
roster outside of DK Metcalf because, like we said, Calvin Austin,
Roman Wilson, they're more of the smaller side, Robert Woods,
more of a silky smooth guy, not to go up
top on you type of guy. So we're looking for
a specific skill set. So if Montana can show that

(35:53):
he can do that, then yeah, man, this sky's the
limit form because he's gonna have a great opportunity to
do so here. But I'm also with you in the
sense that, yeah, we're not gonna, you know, make it
bigger than what it is. It's like, hey, man, you're
gonna have to at least come in here and prove
it at least during this timeframe. But it is cool
to see that another guy was able to get on

(36:15):
that moving train you came out in in a short span.
A Rickie Minnie camp, we talk about how challenging it
is due to just the lack of time, the lack
of exposure, and who's your quarterback you're playing with. Were
you lucky when it got to be in Will Howard's
group or were you in the other group. You know
how that works, and if you're a wide receiver, we

(36:37):
know how that could also impact your production for that
time frame during the evaluation. So to me, man, I
look at that and I say, man, this is somebody
that took advantage of opportunity and now they're gonna get
an even bigger chance. And it's still gonna be kind
of weird though sitting them in at fourteen. I'm just like,
yes it is. I'm like, we don't waste time. Like

(37:00):
think about when when when eighty four left we saw
Rico Bussy and that thing, we was like, whoa, we
just gi it out that quick, just like oh who,
and here we are with this one that at fourteen.
I was like, man, they didn't even get no dust
on it just yet. It's just yeah, take it, take.

Speaker 3 (37:16):
It, yeah real quick, bring out real quick. Listen, it's
a it's a fast moving league, man, NFL.

Speaker 1 (37:22):
Not Forday. I mean, I know, I just you know,
I'll be lying to myself. It happens like that on occasion,
not that you're speaking from personal experience or anything. Yeah, yeah,
you know, man, I might have you know, done the
same thing. It's like, oh man, you was in that.
That that's funny how that works, huh. I mean, I'm
gonna try to skip to them a little bit longer,

(37:43):
to your umber, all right, just just just for a
little bit, hang on to this for a little while.
Heck yeah, man. But I do like that though, And
I know for some people out there, and it's like
the super duper like football nerdy people out there, all right,
I know you're gonna be like, well, hold on now, Motes,
We've already had ninety guys on the roster. How'd you
sign Montana Lamonius Craig, who got cut, who got released?

(38:06):
We could only have ninety guys on the roster at
the time. I ain't silly, most you notice, we know
the rules on this. You're right, guys, you are right
Montana Limonius Craig technically is number ninety one on loss
his roster, so we should get in trouble for it,
we should, but we won't because we got one of

(38:27):
them exemption things, you feel me, you know, one of
them exemption things, one of them things where we got
one of them internationals, you know them international players. We
got an international exemption why because of Julius what's off
shot out the Julius a kay to outside live back

(38:48):
of baby defense with championships. Don't forget that all right?
But yes, yes, so that is ultimately why we are
also able to have the ninety first member of the
Black Goal without having to officially release a player one
weight or the other. It is due to the international
exemption that we are granted, like I said, due to
Julius Wellshoff who came onto the roster last off season

(39:11):
following the draft as well. Man, so shout out to
Julius man provide an opportunity for others while also maintaining
an opportunity for himself as well. But would that being
the case?

Speaker 4 (39:22):
Man?

Speaker 1 (39:22):
That will conclude today's show. Hopefully you enjoyed it if
you did. YouTube crowd. You know what to do. Hit
the like button, stop playing and subscribe to start wasting time.
But with that being the case, shout out too the
producer of today's show, keeping us extra crispy, mister Wesley Valin, you.

Speaker 5 (39:46):
I had fun today. This was good, nice, nice pacing.
Well done.

Speaker 1 (39:49):
I like we have fun. We try to have fun.
I try to make every day like kennywood Day. Okay,
if the show don't feel like there's still curtain, we
ain't do a good job. So power grant mega watts.
Hopefully y'all in enjoyed this thrill riding. If you did
put your hands in the ends, they all right, and
then lasts was certainly not least tell my partner and

(40:12):
cried my co host, No one, no, they missed the
Wesley valid.

Speaker 5 (40:17):
You go ears Hey, Now, by the way, one hundred
and fifty nine and two. That look, I was gonna say,
what was that wrestler?

Speaker 1 (40:27):
That was the record? That was the record? Okay, okay,
I wasn't shot. I can't remember. It was one or
two or it was like one and a half. So
good to know it was two? All right? Fair enough,
fair enough, fair enough, Because didn't he get like disqualified
he did.

Speaker 5 (40:38):
Yeah, that's when it says here like one, Okay, that's
what I thought.

Speaker 3 (40:40):
I guess he didn't under he was a freshman and
didn't fully understand the rules and so disqualified by kind
of an over zealous referee. But then he went back
and beat that same kid.

Speaker 1 (40:49):
That's what it was.

Speaker 5 (40:49):
My finals later on.

Speaker 1 (40:51):
Yeah, they put him in the Boston crab. You can't
put him in the Boston crab, alright, you know, man,
I remember the rules. I remember the rules, so shout out,
shout out. But with that being the case, you already
know where to find us on your twenty for seven
ho of the Black and the Gold.

Speaker 5 (41:10):
It's Steelers Nation Radio on the Steelers Audio Network.

Speaker 1 (41:14):
That's actual facts.
