head over to wwwsoberclearcom.

(00:21):
Listen, no fancy editing today.
I had to film this video thismorning, right now.
In fact, I've not even had mycoffee yet.
I'm going to sit and drink mycoffee with you guys while I
make this video, but I had tolet you know what just happened
Because, honestly, I'm gettingannoyed at this point and I

(00:41):
don't want to be a negativeperson.
I don't want to rant too much.
I don't want to be that guythat's screaming on the internet
and that's not my style at all.
I want to uplift people, butwhat I heard the other day
pissed me off so much that I hadto make this video right now.
So what happened?
What am I talking about?
First, who am I?

(01:03):
My name is Leon Sylvester.
I am basically the founder of acoaching company called Sober
Clear.
I've not drank myself foralmost seven years.
I struggled with alcohol for adecade, trying AA meetings,
trying to use willpower, readingstop drinking books, doing all
this stuff, nothing worked untilI found a new method.
And now that's what I teach inmy coaching company.
Sober, clear.

(01:23):
Now, before we get into why I'mso damn angry anyway, I'm sorry
, I'm sorry, I'm just.
I'm not even sure how to bottlethis emotion up.
But before I get into it, I dohave a free video training down
in the description that you canaccess.
That shows you how my newmethod works.
It works as little as 48 hours.
You know, tens of thousands ofpeople have watched that video.

(01:45):
They say it changed their life.
So definitely go and watch thatfree training.
But let me get into it.
So in my coaching company, right, I do a lot of calls.
I've probably done upwards oftwo and a half thousand phone
calls now with people who havegot drinking problems out, with

(02:06):
people who have got drinkingproblems.
So you can imagine I've heardit all, but what I heard the
other day honestly, I want to goand find this person and beat
them to death Not literally.
I hope I don't get in troublesaying that, right?
So let me have a sip of this, because it's early here.
So I get on a call with this guyand this guy is super
successful.

(02:26):
He works in finance and I thinkhe said he had 600 employees
underneath him, right, so thisis a top level leader and this
is, you know, a lot of thepeople that I work with.
Right, they've got thefinancial resources to go to a
50 grand a month rehab, right, not, not listen, I've got
clients that aren't at thatlevel, right, but I get a lot of

(02:48):
people these top level peoplethey get in contact with me that
want help because they wantsomething new, they want
something different.
They know that the traditionalways of failing them and what I
heard next, just honest to God,just drove me insane.
So this guy's like you know heknew he wanted to change, right,
starting to affect his health, starting to affect his

(03:11):
relationships.
You know the trust stuff withthe wife, and you know it's the
same story.
I've heard the story a milliontimes.
So what does he do?
Right, he does what everybodyelse does.
He goes to the doctor and guesswhat the doctor said Well, have
you thought about drinking?
You know?
Just maybe one or two drinks, you fucking what.

(03:32):
Honestly, if a doctor said thatto me, I would try and get his
license revoked.
Like, I'm coming to you with apersonal problem, not a personal
problem, a drug addiction.
And you're telling me to keeptaking the damn drug.

(03:56):
What If he could drink less?
He'd be drinking less.
A doctor, a medical professional, a person that's probably spent
200 grand on you know collegeeducations and spent 10 years
studying, and they're able toread all these academic papers,
and somebody comes in with areally personal problem, a
drinking problem, a drugaddiction.
Well, if you thought about justhaving one or two, like
everybody else, you're fuckingwhat, man?

(04:17):
When I heard that, my heartjust sank because I wondered.
I wondered how many millions ofAmericans?
Because I don't know if thishappens in other countries,
right, but I thought how manymillions of Americans are going
to doctors and they're sittinghaving a conversation, opening
up their heart, and the doctor'sturning around and telling them
to have one drink.

(04:38):
Can you imagine that?
Listen, there's no such thingas one drink, right, just like
there's no such thing as onecoffee.
Hang on, I am addicted tocaffeine, right, but I don't
care about that.
I'll tell you why.
If I drink alcohol, I destroyeverything, right?
I will have no money left, Iwill have no relationship, I'll

(05:02):
hurt my relationships with myfriends, and alcohol is a slow,
slippery slope downwards.
Caffeine addiction.
I ain't going to drink 10 cupsof coffee and then crash my car,
right?
You get the point.
Anyway, I'm not perfect, soright.
So this guy tells me that thedoctor tells him to have one or
two drinks.
And I heard it and you know, myheart sank.

(05:24):
Luckily, this guy saw sense andsaid I want to try something
new, I want to reframe the way Iview alcohol.
I don't want to go and listento these dumb ass doctors that
have got no clue what they'retalking about.
So we joined the program.
So I'm very excited to see thechange in this client.
We've not actually properlystarted our work together yet,
but that's good news, right.

(05:44):
At least he saw sense.
So next, next thing I'm angryabout.
So I don't want to sound like agossip, right, but I've seen a
stop drinking coach, right, andI'm never going to name this

(06:06):
person because I'm not that typeof guy and I'm not trying to
create conflict, I'm not tryingto create an enemy, but it's not
just one guy, I've seen itmultiple times.
So I'm not like singlinganybody out here, but I've seen
stop drinking coaches.
Right, these are supposed to beleaders.
These are supposed to beexample setters.

(06:27):
Right, they're supposed to setthe standard and I've heard them
sit and say they still drink.
Bro, what are we doing here?
What's going on?
Alcohol is a drug, right?
What's going on?
Alcohol is a drug, right?
Alcohol is a drug, and when youdrink the drug, you get

(06:51):
dehydrated, your inhibitions arelowered and then it makes you
want to drink more and more andmore, and it's a chain reaction
that never ends until you stop.
So we've got one side of thespectrum.
We've got top medicalprofessionals, people that we
trust with our lives, telling usto have just one drink.
Then we've got stop drinkingcoaches telling us that they
still drink.
Right, what is going on?

(07:15):
I want to make one thing clearright, I say in these videos a
lot that you can control yourdrinking, and you can.
You can control your drinkingthe same way that you can
control your drinking and youcan.
You can control your drinkingthe same way that you can
control your crack cocaine usage, the same way that you can
control jumping in front of amoving vehicle.
Right, you've got control overthose things.
You've got control over gettingon an airplane and pulling the

(07:35):
emergency exit and jumping out, don't you?
You've got control over that, but you don't do it.
Because why the heck would youwant to do that?
You've got control over that, but you don't do it.
Because why the heck would youwant to do that?
You've got control overshooting us some heroin in your
arm, don't you?
You can do that whenever youwant, but you don't do it.
See, that's where you want toget to.
You want to get to a placewhere you can take it or leave
it, but you always choose toleave it.

(07:56):
That's what true control is.
I say the word control, but youwant to know why.
It's a bit of a gimmick.
I'll let you in on a littlesecret.
I say it to kind of reel peoplein.
I say that you can control yourdrinking one day, but there
ain't no such thing as control.
True control is what Iexperience, it's what my clients
experience.
It's being able to take it orleave it whenever you want and

(08:19):
then always choosing to leave it.
So these people who are thesedoctors that are saying have one
or two, have got it assbackwards.
They're not in control.
These gurus that are stilldrinking I don't get it, but
that's the weirdest thing ever.
But they don't understand whattrue control is and listen, I

(08:39):
did a call yesterday withanother guy and I felt a little
bit bad because I was a bitharsh.
So hopefully you'll watch thisvideo, so I'll just in fact I'll
send it to you.
I apologize because I was veryblunt on this conversation,
because he kind of pushed alittle bit and it ended up being

(08:59):
a bit more of a debate ratherthan coaching or, you know,
seeing if the program was a goodfit, and I hate it when a call
goes in that direction.
But my worldview with alcohol istotally black and white.
Right, I have pure binarythinking with alcohol for me.
So binary thinking is when youknow.
It's kind of like you know youlove who is it?

(09:24):
You love Kamala Harris, but youhate Donald Trump.
Or it's the other way around.
Right, it's like black or whitethinking One person's right,
the other person's wrong, and orI mean like in Thailand, you've
got the royalist and thenyou've got the non-royalist,
where I am right now.
Some people think that you know, binary thinking is wrong in

(09:44):
most cases.
Usually the answer is in themiddle, right, it's in the
conversation.
So I don't buy into binarythinking in most things except
alcohol.
But let me have a quick caveathere, except my relationship
with alcohol.
Right, that is binary thinking.
I think alcohol is poison, Ithink alcohol is ethanol, I

(10:05):
think there's no advantage todrinking it, and I think that
that's the case for everybody.
But I'm not going to say thatthere aren't people out there
who do drink and have arelationship with alcohol, that
they can have one or two drinksand things are fine.
The problem is is I spent yearsromanticizing that I could be
that way, but I'm not built thatway.
Right, when I have one drink,it leads into more, it leads

(10:25):
into problems.
So, anyway, one second, it'searly, I need more coffee, hang
on, so anyway.
So I get on the call with thisperson yesterday and he starts
telling me that he's not sure hewants to stop yet, right, and

(10:45):
I'm like okay, and I mean atleast he's on the call, right,
at least he is kind of liketoying with the idea.
And I just said, man, maybewe're not right to work together
, but I didn't say it like that,I was a little bit harsher
because he pushed back on myideas.
But the thing is is wheneversomebody pushes back on my ideas
on alcohol, I'm open-minded onanything.

(11:06):
Right, you can change my mindabout anything.
I will listen to anybody on anytopic and I'm open-minded.
What's that opinion?
You should have strong ideas, loosely held With alcohol.
My ideas will not change, myworldview is so strong.
And this guy was almost having alittle debate and giving me a
little bit of pushback and I wasgetting angry.

(11:28):
Was having a little debate andgiving me a little bit of
pushback and I was getting angrybecause I'm thinking yo, dude,
like you're wrong.
And he'd say well, you know, you can't compare alcohol to
crack cocaine which which I doand I'm like what, what are you
talking about?
Like it's a freaking drug, thesame way crack is, and it kills
more people than crack.
Anyway, he's like, but no, butanyway, the point of the matter
is that he wasn't sure if hewanted to stop or not and I just

(11:50):
said well, we're probably notthe right fit to work together.
Totally cool, let's go ourseparate ways.
If you ever want to help in thefuture, I'm here for you.
You know all good.
But what's the problem here?
Well, the deeper problem liesin these damn idiots that are
telling people to have one ortwo drinks.
It's ludicrous, all these damnidiots that are telling people

(12:10):
to have one or two drinks.
It's ludicrous, all these damnidiots that are telling people
that they still drink alcohol, when they're supposed to be the
ones setting the example.
And you know what?
I'm going to be honest.
I tell people sometimes thatwhen you go through my program,
you can still drink.
And you can Because, do youknow what?

(12:30):
I can't stop anybody from doinganything.
I can't stop anyone from doinganything.
And I'll be honest, right, because I go back to what I was
saying before about binarythinking.
For me, my ideas on alcohol areset.
They'll never change.
There have been people in myprogram that have gone through
my program and they havesuccessfully managed to drink
less.
Right?

(12:50):
That's happened a handful oftimes.
Is that the norm?
No, is that my goal for them?
No, but I'm not in control ofanybody's actions, right.
But going back to what I wassaying, is, the point of this
video here is that we're gettingmixed messages all the time
from people Doctors, coaches, alcohol companies drink

(13:14):
responsibly.
There's the big one drinkresponsibly, right?
What the heck does that evenmean?
And, honestly, I'm just gettingfed up with it.
Sometimes I wish I owned analcohol company, because I'd be
bloody so rich I wouldn't bestaying in a hotel right now.
I'd be in a castle, but I'm not, because I'm not an unethical

(13:35):
drug dealer, right?
That's selling a drug that'skilling millions of people.
So let me end on this.
I wanted to remind you, right, that there's no such thing as
having one drink.
If anybody's telling you thatone day you're going to be able
to drink, the chance is low, right, I told you.

(13:57):
There's people in my programthat have done it.
It's not the norm, it's notwhat I want for people.
I want people to get to thatplace of true, true control
where they can go on thatvacation, you know, to a place
like a fully inclusive placewhere there's nice food and
everything and there's alcoholthere and they don't drink.
You know I've done that loadsof times.
You know I've got a free upgradeto first class recently.

(14:20):
So I'll tell you a quick story.
My video editor and my wife weflew from Dubai to Bangkok,
business class, and I paid formy obviously for my wife and I
paid for my editor as a giftjust to say thank you for all
the great work that he's done, because he's made these videos

(14:41):
amazing.
So you've got him to thank fora lot of these videos.
So, as a way to say thank you,I upgraded him to business class
and it's Emirates, so it's nice.
Anyway, lucky me.
They say hey, you, leon, you'vebeen upgraded to first class,
so that was pretty fun.
And you know, they come in andthen it's unlimited drinks and

(15:02):
it's all this expensive stuffand it's like I don't even
notice it, it's like I'm blindto it.
And then I saw the guy next tome drinking his champagne and I
thought why, what's the point?
And we've got all theseassociations with, like, well,
I'm in first class, so I shouldhave my champagne.
And I'm sat there drinking thisorange juice, still feeling

(15:27):
like a boss, right, stillfeeling pretty good.
But this is the point, right, alcohol is poison.
It doesn't enhance your life inany way.
It does absolutely nothing foryou because it's a drug.
And yeah, I'm sorry to go onsuch a rant, but I was getting
annoyed.
I was getting annoyed.
Anyway, listen, quick one.

(15:50):
