(00:21):
We're living through somepretty turbulent times at the
moment.
Israel, as soon as we made thedeal, they came out and they
dropped a load of bombs, thelikes of which I've never seen
before, that have been fightingso long and so hard that they
don't know what the f*** they'redoing.
Do you understand that Nobodyreally knows what's going on?
(00:41):
Sure, we get politicianstelling us what's going on.
We get news headlines tellingus what's going on.
There are people that are inthese countries where these
conflicts are happening thattell us what's going on, but it
all feels very uncertain.
Nobody really knows what'saround the corner.
A lot of people are afraidright now of a major global
conflict Because, relativelyspeaking, the world is quite
(01:01):
peaceful at the moment.
I don't want to downplay thewars that are going on, but I
want to remind you that in WorldWar II, over 70 million people
died right Like sure, there'swars, there's fighting, there's
conflict, but I'm not here totalk to you and give you history
lessons and comment on what'sgoing on with geopolitics at the
moment.
What I want to do is I want tobring this back to alcohol,
because if you were drinkingalcohol right now and you've got
concern over what's going on inthe world, that's okay, but I
(01:24):
want to give you a differentperspective, one that will
actually help you with yourdrinking problem.
See, the goal of this channelis never to get political and
it's to never get religious.
I don't want to divide peopleand whilst these things you know
they are important, we all havea common enemy, and it's
alcohol.
So you'll never hear me getcharged up on any opinion of
politics or religion, but at thesame time is we can't ignore
(01:46):
what's going on Now.
Very quickly, if we've not metyet, my name is Leon Sylvester.
I'm the founder of SoberClear, which is a coaching company that
helps business owners andprofessionals stop drinking.
We use a totally new methodthat's scientifically validated,
and if you want to learn moreabout it, you can go ahead and
click the link down below toaccess a free video training
that will show you how tocontrol your drinking using this
new method.
(02:06):
It works in as little as 24hours.
And if you actually want to seeif working together could be a
good match, there'll be anotherlink in the description that you
can click.
You'll be able to fill in anapplication and then you'll be
able to book a consultation andwe can see if the Sober Clear
program could be a good matchfor you.
And if you're watching this onyour TV, just go to
SoberClearcom.
You can do it on your phone.
But, like I said, I want togive you a different perspective
and you might just think I'msome young, naive, you know guy
(02:33):
in his mid-30s.
That's clueless, but I'm okayfor you to judge me negatively
on this opinion, but all I wantto do is help you with the
drinking.
So here we go.
So when I stopped drinkingalcohol, it was 2018.
After I stopped drinkingalcohol for the first year, life
went so well.
I'd restarted my personaltraining business.
You know I was rebuildingself-confidence.
I was getting back into peakshape.
I met my now fiance that I'mabout to marry.
In fact, by the time this videocomes out, there's a good
(02:53):
chance that we might already bemarried, but life had been going
in a really good direction.
What I don't remember doing isin 2018 to 2019 was looking at
any world events.
And again, you might just thinkI'm naive, but just bear with
me.
But then, one year later, whathappened was I made a video
about not drinking for a yearand the video did really well.
It got really good feedback.
It got thousands of views, hundreds of upvotes on Reddit,
(03:13):
loads of people were commentingand I just shared my experience
of not drinking for a year andthis video really just launched
me into a totally differentcareer path, which was helping
people stop drinking.
At the time I had no idea.
Long story short, I made acouple more videos.
Then I started actually talkingto people, trying to help them
with the problem.
Lo and behold, my company wasformed and that's when I created
(03:33):
the Sober, clear system,scientifically validated
approach to help people controltheir drinking in as little as
24 hours Not for everybody, butit happens.
But we have this new approachthat gets a 96% success rate.
You'll see where I'm going withthis.
So we're in about 2019 now.
So I hadn't drank for a yearand I'd really just kind of
stayed focused right, I juststayed in my corner.
I really just focused onbecoming the person I wanted to
(03:54):
be.
I was working really hard.
I was in a new relationship nowwith my fiance, I'm back in the
gym, just things were going insuch a good direction.
And then we all know whathappened in 2019.
Boom, out of nowhere, the virus.
I'm not going to say it becauseI don't know what happens if
you mention that word.
I don't know if YouTube end upputting this out to less people.
I'm not going to give you ahistory lesson on 2019.
We all know what happened.
Everybody can remember it and Iremember once it started, the
(04:17):
lockdown started all theseheadlines were coming out of
nowhere.
I got sucked into the news sobad.
I would look at the news everysingle day and up until this
point, I just ignored the news.
Again, you might say I'm naive, but whatever right I was
building my life, I'd stoppeddrinking.
I didn't really care what wasgoing on outside of my control.
I just brought it back to whatI could do.
But in 2019, everything shiftedand I realized something so
(04:40):
impactful.
But I could feel the emotionsof fear that would come up after
I'd look at these headlines.
I'd be scared, like we all were.
We were being sold fear 24-7.
Why?
Because that's what mediacompanies do.
They want to sell fear.
They want to put fear in yourheart.
So you click Because guess whathappens?
You read the article.
Advertisers will put theirthings on these publications and
they'll make money.
So there's an incentive to sellyou fear and I could feel this.
(05:04):
I felt the fear, but I didn'tknow what to believe.
I think a lot of us felt thatway.
You know, it was like everybodywas kind of split and I felt
like I was in the middle, butthen it almost became political
as well.
It was almost like in Americathe Democrats were all like
pro-vaccine and then theRepublicans were all now
anti-vaccine and it just becamethis mess.
And I got to a place where Ithought do you know what?
(05:27):
I'm not looking at it anymore, and I came to a conclusion that
I'm just going to ban myselffrom watching the news.
I'm just not going to look, because I would refresh it
throughout the day multipletimes a day to see what's
happening.
And, trust me, this is allgoing to be relevant to alcohol,
and you might just think thisis just a dumb take, but I don't
care.
It helped me with my journeynot drinking, which is why I
want to share it with you.
But I made a decision that, instead of looking at these
headlines, I realised in thepast I didn't use to watch the
news and I kind of realised thatwhatever is really important is
(05:49):
you're just going to hear aboutit in your day-to-day life.
You might see a friend make apost on Facebook.
I didn't need to watch thismainstream media, so I just
stopped myself from watching itand all of a sudden the stress,
the fear was gone, and that'swhen I really just doubled down
on helping people with alcoholand I built my business from the
ground up.
Now I don't know if you've everseen this picture before, but
it's this picture of your locusof control.
(06:10):
In life, we have got so manythings that are outside of our
control.
We cannot control these globalconflicts.
Maybe you can contribute insome way.
If you want to go and fight, ifyou want to go and protest, if
you're really that way inclined, fair enough, but we really
don't have that much controlover it.
So if you look at this pictureof your locus of control, we
don't have control over thingslike how our friends will react
(06:33):
to us, how our family willbehave.
We don't have control over somany things, in fact, most of
life we have no control over, but we do have control over our
individual actions, and whatI've found that's happened to me
over the past week or two is Ijust got sucked back into
current events and it's beensomething that I've really just
tried to keep away from foryears now.
(06:55):
And that thing that I wastalking about of how important
news people will often tell meit really was true, but I was
just kind of naive to what wasgoing on in the world and I just
focused on my YouTube channel,on helping you viewers that
watch this video, with helpingmy clients in my Stop Drinking
program, because those thingswere what I had control over.
And listen, I'm sure some ofyou are going to argue and say
(07:15):
no, it's really important, youneed to know what's going on in
the world.
And I'm not saying that this isbinary right, there's no right
and wrong.
I'm just saying what worked forme.
But as I can feel myselfgetting pulled back into these
current events and all thesewars and all this fighting, I've
had to distance myself and I'vehad to say do you know what?
What's in my control?
Well, making a YouTube video isin my control.
I can't control how many peoplewatch a video, but I can
(07:36):
control what I do with my day.
I can control the inputs right,I can control the media that I
choose to consume.
And whilst this YouTube channelis about not drinking alcohol
and we see all of theseconflicts going on, the last
thing I want you to do is lookat these current events, feel
fear, feel some kind of negativeemotion because of all of these
headlines, and then want todeal with this pain by consuming
alcohol.
(07:56):
Again.
Look back to that picture locusof control.
What is in your control rightnow?
Because the same way that wecan choose what we consume in
terms of media, books, etc.
Is the same with alcohol.
We can control what informationwe consume about alcohol.
We can control whether or notwe consume alcohol Because,
whilst all these conflicts andwars are going on, there is
(08:17):
still the same war that we'reall fighting together and that's
the war against alcohol.
And, like I said before, warsare fought through battles and I
want to say this again yourbattle with alcohol is part of a
bigger war.
If you win this battle, itspreads, and if you actually
think about a war, that's whathappens, right, a battle gets
won and then it spreads and then, along the lines, everybody
(08:37):
hears about this battle that'swon, camaraderie improves and
people keep fighting.
That's how you need to see yourfight with alcohol.
You've got to see it as abattle that will contribute to
everybody around you.
If you beat this battle, if youwin this fight, who else
notices?
Your friends, your family, yourwife, your husband, your
children?
They start looking at you, going how did you do it?
What's changed?
(08:58):
You look different, you lookhealthier, you're nicer to be
around.
And then you tell them I don'tdrink anymore, I stopped
drinking.
See, the battle with alcoholthat you are fighting is so
important.
You need to remember that yourdecision to not drink alcohol
has got a lot to do with you andyour life, but you need to see
how that will impact yoursociety, your community and all
(09:19):
the people around you.
That is a battle and that is awar that is 100% in your control
.
I'm not saying that you shouldbe totally uninformed, but I
want to remind you you've got nocontrol over these things and
if you drink alcohol, there is amuch more important war that is
on your doorstep right now.
That will impact you and willimpact your family.
Relatively speaking, we do livein peaceful times, and I'm not
(09:40):
trying to downplay theseconflicts that are happening in
other parts of the world.
70 million people died in WorldWar II, which is just.
You can't even imagine it thatmany people died in that war and
, relatively speaking, times arepeaceful.
And that's as a British citizen.
I'm sure if I lived in anothercountry right now I would not be
feeling that way, but I'm justtalking on a global level.
(10:01):
Right now, you know it's notlike we're in some major
conflict.
It can feel like we're on theverge of it, but it's not here.
But the war on alcohol and thebattle that you're fighting is
on your doorstep right now.
So just don't forget this.
