Let us know what you enjoy about the show!

Perfectionism keeps us small. It holds us captive with the false belief that we must be polished and complete before showing our work to the world.

Today, I'm breaking free from that trap by sharing something vulnerable - an unfinished chapter from my upcoming book, "I Get To: The Power of Energetic Choice." This brief but powerful segment introduces the concept of energetic choice, which transforms how we approach decisions and challenges.

Unlike traditional decision-making that feels binary and fear-inducing, energetic choice offers a framework for moving from powerlessness to agency. The heart of this approach is what I call the "choice capacitor" - a method for shifting your energy from "I can't" through progressive stages until you reach the liberating space of "I get to." It's not about forcing positivity but about recognizing your fundamental power of choice.

As one colleague noted, this framework functions like Doc Brown's flux capacitor from "Back to the Future" - it doesn't literally transport you through time, but it does allow you to alter your future by changing your energetic presence in the now. I demonstrate this process by sharing how I navigated my own resistance to releasing unfinished work.

If you've ever felt stuck in decision paralysis, overwhelmed by expectations, or simply disconnected from your power of choice, this episode offers a practical way forward. Remember: messy can be beautiful, and sometimes your unfinished self is exactly what others need to see.

Subscribe if you're ready to transform your relationship with choice and embrace the beauty of being a work in progress. Your future self will thank you.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey there.
So today's episode is a littledifferent.
I'm sharing a chapter inprogress from my upcoming book.
I Get To the Power of EnergeticChoice and while this version
isn't final, I'm learning howvaluable it is to let things be
seen before they're done.
There's a belief many of uscarry that we have to be

(00:24):
polished and perfect before weshow up.
That fear of being seen inprogress.
Boy oh boy, it runs deep.
But here's the truth, and it'slearning in real time.
Messy can be beautiful andsometimes unfinished is exactly
what others need to see.
We teach what we most need tolearn right.

(00:47):
So today I'm practicing what Ipreach.
This chapter, and it's brief,is called what is Energetic
Choice.
So here it is.
This isn't a book about decisionmaking, but if you do have a
decision to make, you'll want tokeep reading.
Energetic choice is not about adestination to arrive at, but

(01:10):
rather a place to come from.
It's about increasing yourcapacity for choice by creating
a grounded, connected foundationfrom which to approach well
everything.
Decision-making by natureimplies black and white thinking
.
If I say yes to this, I must besaying no to that.

(01:33):
It can feel reductive andfear-inducing, and often the
pressure to just make a decisionbecomes the goal itself, rather
than intentionally consideringwhat's truly aligned.
And you know?
Here's the thing.
You can even put decisionmaking through my choice

(01:53):
capacitor.
Here's how it might look.
I can't make a decision.
It's too hard.
I have to make a decision, orsomebody else will.
I should make a decision.
Everybody's waiting.
What's the matter with me?

(02:13):
Pause, here, I should is thetipping point.
Slow down, lose the shame.
And you're standing in.
I could.
I could make a decision.
I've got the tools and I'mcapable.
I want to make a decisionbecause, no matter the outcome,

(02:37):
I'll learn and grow.
I get to make a decisionbecause I am the agent of my
life, living a created life.
A fellow coach once told me thatmy energetic choice capacitor
reminded him of Doc Brown's timemachine in Back to the Future.
I'm okay with that, because ifDoc's iconic flux capacitor

(03:00):
could take you back in time toalter the present, the energetic
choice capacitor can changeyour future by harnessing your
energy and centering you in thenow.
You know, the truth is, Ipassed through each of these
energetic choices beforearriving at the decision to

(03:23):
I can't think of anything towrite for the show.
I have to publish something.
I should be better at planningmy release schedule.
Once I let go of the shamearound not having it all figured
out, I saw that I could sharesomething meaningful and that
maybe what I'm working on rightnow is exactly what someone

(03:44):
needs to hear From there.
It was easy to shift into Iwant to, because I was genuinely
excited about offering this.
And now here I am in choicewith gratitude, energetically
charged because I get to.
Thanks for being here with metoday.

(04:05):
I'm Lisa Hopkins.
Stay safe and healthy andremember to live in the moment.
