A Buddhist parable tells the story of Fudo, a young falcon who learns that true freedom comes from understanding that the sky isn't a boundary to overcome but a reflection of his own limitless nature. This ancient wisdom teaches us that our perception of limitations often creates the very constraints we struggle against.

• Fudo, a talented young falcon, feels restless when flying and wonders what lies beyond the sky's apparent boundaries
• He seeks wisdom from Shouhai, an ancient turtle known for his patience and deep insights
• Shouhai explains that the sky has no limits—it's Fudo's conception of it as something to conquer that creates his feelings of limitation
• The turtle teaches that the sky simply "leaves room" and mirrors Fudo's own unlimited nature
• When Fudo shifts his perspective, he experiences the sky differently and finds the freedom and contentment he sought
• The parable illustrates how our perceptions shape our reality and how letting go of the need to conquer can lead to true freedom

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey there.
I thought I'd share with youthis parable from the Buddhist
canon.
It's called the Hawk in the Sky, a Vision of Infinity.
Once upon a time, in a remoteforest, there lived a young

(00:20):
falcon named Fudo.
A young falcon named Fudo.
Although Fudo was a strong andtalented hunter for his age, he
often felt restless anddissatisfied.
Every day when he flew highinto the sky, he gazed at the

(00:46):
endless expanse of the heavensand wondered what lay beyond.
In his worry, fudo soughtadvice from the oldest and
wisest creature in the forest, aturtle named Shouhai.
Sho Hai had seen manygenerations of animals come and

(01:08):
go and was known for his deepwisdom and patience.
Sho Hai said, fudo, every timeI fly into the sky, I can't help
but wonder what lies beyond itsboundaries.
I can't help but wonder whatlies beyond its boundaries.

(01:28):
It feels so limitless andboundless, and yet I feel
limited by my abilities and myfear.
How can I overcome these limits?
Shouhai looked at Fudo calmlyand replied Young Falcon, the

(01:55):
sky may seem unlimited, but itactually has no limits.
It is not the sky that islimited, but your conception of
it.
You see the sky as something tobe conquered and explored, but
in truth it is simply a spacethat leaves room".

(02:15):
What do you mean leaves room, asked Fudo.
Confused.
Shohei smiled and explainedfurther the sky sets no limits.
It places no obstacles in yourway.
It gives you the space to movefreely, to fly and to be.

(02:39):
It is a mirror of your ownunlimited nature.
If you really want tounderstand the sky, you must let
go of your idea of it assomething to be conquered and
embrace it as an expression ofyour own limitlessness own

(03:09):
limitlessness.
Fudo needed some time to digestShouhai's words, but the next
time he flew into the sky, hesaw it with new eyes.
He no longer saw an unreachableexpanse that had to be
conquered, but a space thatallowed him to move freely and

(03:31):
without limits.
He felt a deep freedom andpeace that he had never
experienced before, experiencedbefore.
From that day on, fudo nolonger flew to conquer the sky,

(03:55):
but rather to experience itslimitlessness.
He realized that the sky wasnot something that existed
outside of him, but was a mirrorof his own unlimited nature.
And in this realization Fudofound the freedom and

(04:17):
contentment he had always sought.
