Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, I'm going to say some words, and if you're
somewhere where you can closeyour eyes, go ahead and close
them, and if not, that's okay.
I want you to pay attention, when you're ready, to how these
words make you feel and maybewhat shifts in your body as you

(00:23):
hear them Silence, silence, quiet, peace, stillness,
tranquility, calm, harmony, order, ease, acceptance, rest,

(01:08):
contentment.
How do these words make youfeel?
Take a moment just to notice ifthere are any shifts that have
changed in your body.
What do these words have incommon?
Well, they are the opposites ofthe word noise.

(01:37):
How much noise is there in yourlife right now?
Noise, both external andinternal, pulls us away from
what we want to be doing andtoward what's painful or
irritating, and we're hardwiredthat way.

(01:57):
So let me ask again what thingswould you qualify as noisy
things that are drawing yourattention away from what you
want to be focusing on?
Let's do an inventory.
We'll start with the external.
It's a little bit easier.
Maybe there's someone outsidemowing the lawn and you're

(02:19):
trying to write.
Maybe it's someone who doesn'tleave enough space in a
conversation and just makes youexhausted.
Or maybe it's the noise ofpolitics and news, social media
and the incessant chatter, or itcould simply be the noise from

(02:39):
the air conditioner when you'retrying to sleep.
Internal noise is a little bitmore difficult to identify, so I
want you just to take a momentto focus there, think about it
for a moment.
What noisy thoughts might beholding you back?

(03:00):
These are the thoughts that areoften repetitive, that are
almost always negative.
Repetitive, that are almostalways negative and, pretty much
all the time, fear-based.
Now, noise is defined in thedictionary as any sound that is

(03:21):
undesired or interferes withone's hearing of something.
The noise in our head preventsus from hearing the voice of our
true self, the voice that'sjust waiting to be heard.
We can make a practice oftransforming that internal noise
, but not by wasting energy totry and block it out, but rather

(03:45):
by summoning its antithesis,the opposite.
For instance, if you're at anevent and everyone is
socializing, but you and thenoisy message says you're too
quiet, you simply respond bysaying I am an excellent
listener.
If you're exhausted and thenoisy message messages saying

(04:10):
you aren't good enough or you'llfail if you don't try harder,
you simply say I am mosteffective when I take good care
of myself.
Or what if it says you'll neverfinish what you started, you
simply say I am enjoying theprocess.

(04:32):
You see, the beauty of thisworld, my friends, and this
practice, is that the answersoften lie in the opposite.
On the other side of darknessis light.
You've heard it a million times.
It's true we are the ones thatcreated the noise in our heads

(04:55):
and we're also the ones that cantransform it.
Sometimes we can't control theexternal, but we can always
control the internal.
Close your eyes again andlisten.

(05:30):
Peace, stillness, tranquility, calm, harmony, calm, harmony,
order, ease, Acceptance, rest,contentment.
Take a deep breath in.

(06:03):
My friends, you've got this.
Wishing you a great rest ofyour day.
