About the Playwright

Jonathan Wickremasinghe-Kuhn grew up in Selma, Alabama and attended the University of Southern California, where he received both his BFA in Writing for Screen and Television and his Master of Professional Writing degree. He has performed story-telling multiple times at The Moth and for the Two Truths & A Lie podcast. His plays have been produced by the A Light in Dark Places Festival, the Paragon Festival, Exposition Review, Stage Left Theater, Laughing Pig Theatre, Carrollwood Players Theatre, Magnetic Theatre, and Crafton Hills College.

He's also a Stories Found fan favorite with his hilarious story about an ill-fated shopping trip: Off Target.

his hilarious story about an ill fated shopping

Mhm. You know I don't like to get my hands dirty
anymore. But I had to do this one
myself for closure.
Sorry to drag it out. Better to be

You were hiding money. Didn't I give you
enough

secret phone calls? Lying about where you've
been? You trying to wrt us out?
I had my men follow you.
They saw you meeting with that guy. Is he with
the Feds? So
what then?

>> ANTON (01:39):
My pocket. My pocket.

>> IVAN (01:46):
You stole my money to buy this shitty watch?
I gave you a Bulgari.

>> ANTON (01:51):
Check the back. The inscription.
Uh, I'm sorry
that I wanted to surprise you. Not the best
idea given your line of work.

>> IVAN (02:05):
Wait. It's
just I always
imagined I'd be the one doing it.

>> ANTON (02:14):
You're not in charge of everything, you know.
But. Sorry if I was out of line.

>> IVAN (02:22):
No, no. I love it. Uh,
and I love you.
Uh, of
course I'll marry you.

You said there was shit.

I was a little mad. Okay.

You don't have to take the coughs off right away.
