I share one of many stories from my December 1986 adventure to China accompanying legendary 1960s seminal beach surf rocking musicians, Jan and Dean! A herculean effort spearheaded by Jan’s old friend and collaborator, Don Altfeld, Jan & Dean became the very first American Rock ‘n Roll act to tour China. This iconic concert tour was organized as part of a cultural exchange program, billed as the, "Friendship Tour.” Jan and Dean invited the World Champion Frisbee Team to join the, “Friendship Tour,” performing our Frisbee show opening every show in Beijing, Guangzhou, and Shanghai. We were extremely fortunate to experience life changing events at every concert!
The 9th episode of Stories from the Trailer is an intimate story of my travels to China, becoming friends with Jan Berry (who survived a car accident when he was 25 years old causing traumatic brain injury). You will hear about what transpired in Shanghai, when Jan and I had dinner one night reminiscing about Neil Young’s music.
