SPEAKER_09 (00:53):
The Saxton name resonates in Austin.
Jim's late father, James Saxton,is a Longhorn legend, a Heisman
finalist while playing for DarylK.
Royal.
And Jimmy is a UT footballlegacy from Westlake.
He has been insuring Austin fordecades.
He and his staff will give youold school hospitality when

(01:13):
servicing your insurance needsto be a good thing.

SPEAKER_04 (02:05):
Ooh, what is the fine these days?
Is it 100%?

SPEAKER_09 (02:07):
Well, it it varies conference to conference.
I mean, the ACC, if that'saccurate, which I think it is,
the ACC, it's only fiftythousand dollars.

SPEAKER_04 (02:19):
Oh, uh, one of the donors got that for sure.

SPEAKER_09 (02:22):
Oh, they got that.
I mean, someone donated a uh aweek's salary to that.

SPEAKER_04 (02:27):
Yeah, exactly.

SPEAKER_09 (02:29):
So that was, you know, I think in the Big 12,
especially the SEC, it's I thinkfive times that, maybe a half of
that.

SPEAKER_04 (02:37):
Really?

SPEAKER_09 (02:38):
I I think it's much more.
They take these field stormingseriously, but yet people still
doing it.
And our guy Lane Kippin.
I'm wondering why their fansdidn't storm the field when they
beat LSU.

SPEAKER_04 (02:55):
Yeah, that's tough.
I don't know, man.
I think when you expect to winand expect to beat them, I think
that's why you don't you don'tstorm the field.
But I don't know, man.
SEC is a different breed, youknow.
Big the the uh underdog uhupsets the the the the favorite

(03:18):
all the time, so it may benormal.

SPEAKER_09 (03:20):
Well, LSU stormed the field last year when they
don't miss, if I remembercorrectly.
Yeah, okay.
But but Kiffin has uh had agreat perspective on it in his
own humorous kind of way.
We're gonna get to that here alittle later, but quickly,
Stevie.
Uh give your perspective now aswe're we're through with bye

(03:42):
week here in Austin, Texas.
What are you expecting?
And we're gonna dive deeper intoit here shortly.

SPEAKER_04 (03:51):
Oh man.
I'm expecting a game this week.
That's all.
That's all I'm gonna say.

SPEAKER_09 (03:58):
That's my tease in the land of the swamp,
Gainesville, Florida.
And you know what?
It makes me wonder though, ifour guys, your fellow, what what
do you call a citizen fromShreveport?
Shreveortian?
Shreeporter, God, I'm an idiot.
So hardgrove roofing.

(04:19):
I I would venture to say thehardgroves, I would love.
I don't know, man.
Are they going to Gainesville?

SPEAKER_04 (04:26):
I don't know.
That's a good question.
He may, yeah, he may, I don'tknow.

SPEAKER_09 (04:31):
But hey, but but we got to give a shout out to him,
man.
Much love to these guys.
Hardgrove roofing.
Stevie, take it away.

SPEAKER_04 (04:39):
Hardgrove roofing, know who's on your roof.

SPEAKER_09 (04:42):
You'll know who's on your roof with hardgrove
roofing.
They do quality, quality work, and uh they do things the right
way, and you can trust them, which speaks volumes in this
world today.
Stevie, episode foureighty-three.
You ready, brother?
Let's ride.

SPEAKER_04 (04:59):
Let's ride, baby.

SPEAKER_09 (05:22):
All right, we're done with the bye week.
Now it's back to the it's SECopening week for some programs
like Texas.
And before we get into that, besure to follow us on all of our
social media platforms.
I'm making Stevie prouder by theday.
I have addressed the TikTokissue head on, and we have grown

(05:45):
60% on TikTok just in twomonths.
It's a pain, but man, I've metsome fine, fine Americans on
TikTok, and now they'refollowers and enjoy our content.
I think they meant they wantmore of Stevie's dome than this
bald dome.

SPEAKER_04 (06:03):
I don't think so, man.

SPEAKER_09 (06:06):
Hey, a big shout out to uh, as we mentioned, hard
grove roofing, but to each ofour sponsors, uh Dirty Martin's
Place, Honest Plumbing and Air,Jim Saxon State Farm, everybody,
and Northwest Hills liquor.
And we're gonna onboard a newsponsor soon who uh creates
fanfare clothing, uh a UTgraduate.

(06:27):
And she's done well.
She's done well, she has ties tothe first lady of the man cave.
I was gonna say that.
There you go.
We're gonna get it.
So, big time SEC opening weekendfor Texas, it's finally arrived.
Enough of the downplaying, enough of the criticism of Arch
and all those new starters atkey positions.
Man, is it for as a player, isit truly, truly a new beginning?

SPEAKER_04 (06:53):
We yes, we call it a new beginning.
It's the second half of theseason.
We finished the first half, Iguess.
I mean you can call it a halfbecause um we don't have any
more bye weeks, correct?

SPEAKER_09 (07:04):
Yeah, I think there is, I think there's one more.

SPEAKER_04 (07:07):
Gotcha.
Well, it's the first um firstsector of the season.
So um, so we start over, startafresh, and we want to win out
until the next buy, right?
So um uh if you're asking me myperspective of the game, man,
just come out.
Hopefully everyone's healthy, they got some rest, um, and then

(07:30):
you know, come in and um give usa showing.
Like everyone knows what we'relooking for.
We're looking for arch to bearch again, we're looking for
the defense to continue to dowhat they do.
Um, we're looking to clean upthe game, all facets of the

(07:53):
game, defensively, offensively,uh, special teams, and cleaning
up the penalties.
This is a brand new, freshrefresh, and let's uh go out
there and and you know dominatethe game like we know we can.
Hey, it's time for theplaymaker, 83.

SPEAKER_09 (08:11):
He's waiting.
He's in the waiting room.
We have a talent room, it'scalled the our green room.
He's in it.
He's in it, he's in it.
Let's bring him in A, welcomeback.

(08:38):
We're starting another newchapter, the league race.
Um, Stevie gave his perspectiveon you know, it's I think it's
great timing for any team comingoff of bye week before you start
that league race.
But man, let's go, let's digright into it.
MA, what's your perspective oryour take on those Florida

(08:58):
Gators after you you've kind ofhad a little bit of a sample set
here the last few weeks?

SPEAKER_03 (09:03):
Yes, sir.
They uh man, they're a woundeddog.
I mean, I mean, they're awounded dog right now, and you
know what they say about woundeddogs.
I mean, sooner or later thatdogs don't come out fighting.
Yeah, and and I think you saw alittle bit of it against Miami.
They were uh, you know, youknow, I think people were
expecting that game to to toprobably be somewhat of a

(09:25):
blowout, but it was it was atight game.
I mean, Florida hung in there, still having issues uh, you
know, offensively, but thedefense, man, is outstanding.
I mean, they're probably a top10 defense, and we know they
have athletes all over thefield, probably the first real
challenge, I'm sure, that we'veseen all year.
So they're gonna be able tomatch up skill for skill.
I mean, this is definitely a biggame for Arch.

(09:46):
I mean, I mean, I think wetalked about a few weeks ago.
Stevie Maddie hit on it.
You know, they're gonna haveguys running without receivers,
no, one-on-one.
But I mean, that front seven isgonna be coming, they're gonna
be bringing blitches and twistsand different things like that.
So, man, it's it's gonna be achallenge in the swamp.
No, 230, no, 330 start on theeast coast.
Uh, this is the game I feel likethey think they can win, and

(10:09):
man, it is probably the onlything at this point.
Those guys are probably playing, you know, full blast for uh
Coach Napier.
Because I think if he loses thisgame and loses it in a horrible
fashion, we might see him getthe ringer on Sunday.
That's kind of been the trend.
Yes, that's kind of been thetrend with coaches that have

(10:29):
been getting fired, man.
Sunday's been Black Sunday, Iguess we'll call it.
They've been getting the the theringer, man, on Sunday.
So, you know, you never you hateto see that happen, but
Florida's got to play well, man.
I I expect them to.

SPEAKER_09 (10:45):
There you go, Stevie.
We've been talking about this.
I mean, I know it's a broadquestion, but Stevie, I don't I
don't know how to game plan forFlorida, but there's your
there's your there's your topicthat Stevie wanted to ask you.

SPEAKER_04 (10:57):
Yeah, yeah, Mike, man.
Wanted to see, like, what do youthink the game plan should be
against Florida, man?
Like, what are you what are yourfeelings?

SPEAKER_03 (11:08):
I think, and I'll go defense first, man.
I it, you know, Miami's kind oflaid the blueprint.
A few other teams have kind oflaid the blueprint against
Florida.
Man, we gotta put a lot ofpressure on on Lagway.
If he plays, I know he's kind ofinjured and nurses and things,
but I I think I saw last week umhe he was practicing a little
bit.
So gotta be aggressive, man.

(11:29):
And I really I think the onlyway that they could probably
hurt us is if we probably givethem too much man-to-man.
Because to me, it gets a littleeasier when you know his man.
One high safety, you know, bringa little pressure.
I mean, he's got a chance atthat point to hit some throws.
I I think we mix up our looks, man.
I know uh Keenan in thatsecondary and and PK on defense

(11:51):
calling things, confusing, man.
We don't need to get you know, defer, you know, too much or get
away too much from what LSU did, even what Miami did, and just
get pressure with our frontfour, man, and force him to make
decisions.
I think uh we win the game thatway.
But but if we allow him tobecome a runner, you know, hit
some one-on-one throws and bigplays and things like that, you

(12:13):
know, add that with momentum.
Um, now they have a punch'schance at least.
Offensively, this is gonna beour biggest challenge of the
year, man.
That O line's really got to stepup.
I can see this being a tightone.
I can see this being an OhioState, you know, Texas type of
game, you know, first game.
Um, you know, hopefully it's alittle better.

(12:33):
I think we need to come out andget our some easy throws.
We're gonna find out what kindof receiving court we have this
game.
Um, wingo, time you to step up,buddy.
You're you're the number oneguy.
Um, you know, uh ParkerLivingston, lead the team in
touchdowns.
Reset, time you to step up thisweek.
Anyone can do it against SanJose State and some of those

(12:54):
guys.
We got we need to do it againstthese Gators.
And I think we need to take someshots.
We need to be aggressive, man.
Let's turn Arch loose, let's seewhat he has, let's get him on
the run, let's get him on somespread out, some things like
that.
Let's let's let him be anathlete a little bit, take
advantage of some of his skills.
And I say we'll attack Floridathat way.
I mean, uh, you know, Carson,Carson Beck, he was kind of

(13:14):
saying in the pocket a littlebit, and Florida got to him.
You know, like I said, they gota great defense, but I think we
need to Arch is a better athletethan Carson.
Let's let Art be an athlete.
Let's mix it up, get him on somesprint out, get him on some drop
back, you know, get him someplay action a little bit, but
but be aggressive, whatever wedo.

SPEAKER_09 (13:33):
Stevie, you and Mike both.
I know you guys play games andvarious elements.
Um, we we're blessed to where welive.
It's stays fairly warmthroughout the football season,
but you do deal with rain, andespecially in the southeast.
But I I do recall, Mike, youguys played, I had two very

(13:55):
rainy games.
Uh 94 Rice in Houston, but Ialso remember one University of
Virginia in '96.
How did that alter your game asa team?
But do you think now, too, if itrains as they say it will, I
think there's like a 60-70%chance of rain in Gainesville.

(14:19):
Does that favor Texasoffensively with that downhill
run game?
Or do you think that could causesome problems?

SPEAKER_03 (14:28):
I think it makes it an even game, to be honest.
I mean, you know, you mentionedour run game, and you know, I I
wish we have shown, I wish wehad been able to show more this
year with our run game.
I know we got the guys, thetalent, and we're getting some
guys back from injuries, sothat's gonna help.
Man, we're gonna need to lean onit.
But but therein lies, you know, part of our issue, man.

(14:50):
Our O line's got to really stepup this week because it's
probably gonna be rainy andmuddy and monsoon type of
weather.
And one of those games you leftoff is the Missouri game in '96.
You talk about a uh monsoon andand you know, tropical downpour,
man.
That was it.
But um, you know, obviously youhave to change your game plan
when it when it's raining.

(15:11):
Uh, I mean, you got to dig ourcleats in, and you're really
gonna need to lean on the runblocking, man.
And um, that that makes evenmore for a defensive battle, you
know, and and getting Arch onthe run, let getting him in the
run game.
I mean, here's here's the timenow, and and you know, you gotta
be risk, you know, oh, you know, careful with that because you
don't want to get guys hurt, butstill to some degree, the

(15:32):
offensive guy has the advantagewhen it's slippery outside.
So I think uh, you know, gettinghim on some on some sprint outs,
some runs, man, you know, cometo run on some sprint outs, some
boot type action, you know, getting our receivers, you know,
potential double moves thisgame, because you know, those
guys play a lot of aggressiveman to man.
They'll probably bite on somethings.

(15:52):
We're gonna have to find a way, man, to to manufacture some
points.
Uh, because it's just not gonnabe line up, spread it out, you
know, sling it, and you know,it's 80% chance of a weather.

SPEAKER_09 (16:03):
Stevie, you uh I'd love to hear your perspective
from a defensive player's pointof view.
When it's raining like that, what I mean, you're in the
trenches where it gets muddy ifit's on grass, right?

SPEAKER_04 (16:15):
Yeah, so I was gonna ask, do we know what what
surface is in uh Gainesville?

SPEAKER_03 (16:20):
Man, it's grass, I believe it's like natural grass,
Bermuda.

SPEAKER_04 (16:24):
I think it was natural, yeah.

SPEAKER_03 (16:25):
And and and it and you know I'm gonna say this one
thing, Stephen.
You definitely crack at it.
Um, Florida's used to this,though.
They played in these types ofgames before.

unknown (16:35):
So I'm gonna go.

SPEAKER_07 (16:36):
I don't call it the smoke for nothing.

SPEAKER_03 (16:38):
Exactly.
So the advantage goes to them.
I mean, it's gonna be fairly newfor us.
So our guys, you know, hopefullywe bring three or four different
types of cleats and just beprepared from that standpoint.

SPEAKER_04 (16:51):
Yeah, so uh yeah, answer your question, Sean.
Um the defense is always a clickbehind, just a click behind.
But then you get a little bitmore behind when it's wet
weather, right?
So uh when you see the offensiveplayer make their cut, you got
to be careful with your cut cutand be surefooted with your cut,

(17:13):
is one of my coaches would say.
Sure footed.
Um, because if you are leaningtoo far over your cleats, you
can slip, right?
And then that that can break ahuge tackle.
So um yeah, it's and you'reright.
Um uh uh Mike, it's they areused to it.
Like I said, they don't call ita swamp for nothing.

(17:34):
They are used to that to thatsurface, that weather, uh, and
everything.
So we're coming in at a littlebit of a disadvantage when it
comes to the weather and thehome field advantage, but um,
you know, we still got arch.
And arch I still trust, man, right?
So uh yeah, and the defense, Istill uh like our defense and

(17:59):
and things like that.
So uh it's gonna be a good game.
I can't wait to see how werespond to all this adversity
we've had the last three weeks, really.
Because you know, people saidthat we did good against Sam
Houston State, but they alwayssay it with a grain of salt.
So um uh these kids really needto come out and show them what

(18:21):
they got to show themselves, their fans, and the voters to
show what they got.
Um, I mean, what are we rankednine right now?
Nice.
Maybe we dropped the spot, yeah.
Yeah, so you know, we gottareally come out there and show
it's we're we're getting intothe middle of the season, guys.
Right, right?
Like this is the fifth game, andso uh we really need to step up,

(18:45):
or it's the fourth game.
It's the fourth game, but fifthweek.

SPEAKER_03 (18:50):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_04 (18:51):
Yeah, something like that.
So um, so we really need to stepup and start actually playing
the football that we wereexpected to play at the
beginning of the year, and I'mreally looking forward to seeing
that uh come out.
And um, you know, we don't haveanother home game until October
1st, a whole month away.

SPEAKER_09 (19:07):
So November, yeah.

SPEAKER_04 (19:10):
I'm sorry, November 1st, yes.
And so it's um come outtomorrow, or I'm sorry,
tomorrow.
Come out this Saturday.
I'm ready to play right now.
Come out this Saturday, man, andand and and and show what you
can actually do, man.
You gotta be you gotta get hypedfor these type of games, you
know.

SPEAKER_03 (19:26):
No doubt.
Yeah, and and man, and this is agame that a lot of people have
circled on on the schedule formore, you know, even though OU's
a week after that, and you know,we led off with Ohio State, but
but it's this Florida game, youknow, one of one of the first,
uh, you know, first time wewe've played those guys, you
know, to my knowledge, and uh,you know, at least in this era

(19:49):
anyway, and it's in their place, you know.
You know, yeah, we've goneagainst Ohio State, we've played
Georgia, we've played Alabama, but but we haven't played one of
those Florida type teams.
You know, it's been a while.
And uh, you know, this was beencircling the calendar for a long
time, man.
And you know, I think I said itlast week.
I saw the swag, I saw it, I sawus standing over guys, hovering

(20:10):
over guys.
We gotta see that on Saturday.

SPEAKER_07 (20:13):
Every week.

SPEAKER_03 (20:14):
We're gonna need to see that this Saturday against
these type of guys.
They come out of the wombtalking trash.
So, so if we show any type ofweakness, seriously, I mean you
guys know.
I mean, these guys, if we showany type of weakness, man,
they're gonna feed on it.

SPEAKER_09 (20:30):
Chum in the water.

SPEAKER_03 (20:32):
Yep, they're gonna feed on it.

SPEAKER_09 (20:34):
So we all know that uh I don't care how poorly a
team was in September whenconference play rolls around,
every team, almost every team, especially when they're playing
at home, they're gonna play on amuch different level than they
have.
Right.
Especially when you got a teamthat is a wounded dog and their
coach is almost under the dirt.

(20:56):
They're gonna play hard.
And it's it's yeah, this I thinkthis game's gonna be a lot
closer than people think.
I do I do think Texas wins.

unknown (21:04):
We do.

SPEAKER_04 (21:06):
You think Texas wins, but um, I think that
Florida gonna fight becauseremember last year we beat them
49.
We put up 49 on them.
Right, right, right.
Yeah, yeah.
Be pretty good.
Be pretty good.
And uh was his 49 to 17, Ibelieve.
And um, they they trying to gettheir lick back.
They're gonna try to get theirlick back and come out fired up.

(21:28):
That if the if if they want tobeat anybody on their schedule,
they want to beat the new kidson the block, the ones that beat
them last year.

SPEAKER_03 (21:34):
Exactly.
I mean, and man, it not only isit a big game for Napier, it's a
big game for Florida, man, it'sa big game for for Lagway.
Uh, I mean go huge game for him.
I mean he's he's already laid anegg pretty much against LSU and
Miami, and you know, very, veryminimal hundred, you know, uh
passing yards.
I mean, probably less than 100passing yards, 150 passing yards

(21:55):
in two games for those combinedgames.
Now you're playing another youknow, top fight elite defense,
and uh, you know, he his namewas thrown out, you know, some
of those Hosman front runners.
So, man, this this game is hugefor his reputation.
If he if he wants to salvage it,man, he's gotta come out, and
what better weekend and and timeto do it than against you know

(22:16):
your your hometown, in-state,you know, Texas Longhorns.
If he can get back on track thisgame, it it could really salvage
you know, possibly his career.
Yeah, because because man, because right now it's a lot of
things hanging in the balancefor him.

SPEAKER_09 (22:31):
It is, it's gonna be fun.
I thought it was a morning game.
It is a 230 central kick.
Uh MA, we're gonna keep youaround.
I love we we love your takesbecause we're gonna uh because
it's on the road, we've got theright place for you to go to get
those beverages lined up, andand as we transition from that,

(22:52):
man, they want some respect fortheir 4-0 start in Aggie Land.

SPEAKER_02 (23:07):
Anybody want to ask a question about like us being
4-0 for the first time since2016, or how did the defense
bounce back, or how about youheld them to 176 yards on
offense and you had five sacksand they were 0 for 12 on third
down and 0 for 2 on fourth down, and you got the return game
going again.
Like, I don't mean to sound likesomeone else, but my gosh, will

(23:27):
you guys stop being so dreadfuland gloomy?
Yeah, next one.

SPEAKER_09 (23:37):
Start with you, man.
And I'm I'm a believer in theAggies this year.
They I don't know, they looklike a CFP at large team.

SPEAKER_03 (23:49):
They're definitely trending in the right direction.
Now, and I know people might beupset.
They're talking about theoffensive performance this past
weekend, and I mean, man, thatArvin game is gonna be tough.
Like, like, I don't know why.
I mean, you look at Arvin andOU.
I mean, I mean, we we we canlook no further than that game.
I mean, that was a tough gamefor OU offensively, and they
found a way to to to grind itout.

(24:09):
Same thing with AM.
I mean, I know it wasn't no umquarterback, I know it wasn't
his best performance.
Man, I almost called him ReggieMcNeil.

SPEAKER_09 (24:21):
Marcel Reed.

SPEAKER_03 (24:22):
Marcel Reed, yeah.
The other guy, the other dudethat got him.
He looks like Reggie.
He does, he does.
I don't call him Reggie.
I almost took it back, man.
Reggie McNeil.
But um didn't have his bestgame.
But man, we we can't take awaythe fact that he he kind of
dominated Notre Dame and tookthem up and down the field
against those guys.
So we know what he's capable of,but Arvin's gritty, man.

(24:43):
Their defense is they were inthat game to win it.
And Armin's gonna play a lot ofteams close like that.
And uh, you know, they theythey're having some issues of
their own offensively, but thatwas a good win for AM.
That that was a good probablywasn't their best performance as
a team, but they got thevictory, and that's crucial,
man.
And SEC play right now, conference play right now.

SPEAKER_09 (25:07):
Stevie, what what's your thoughts on AM, man?
I mean, Elko, do you I mean, youhe was rattled off those stats.
He's well rehearsed.
I mean, it sounds like he'slet's be honest, that's a piss.

SPEAKER_04 (25:19):
It sounded like he wanted to flip the room and and
and turn into somethingpositive.
Um, they've been negative for along time.
AM, it's was it's been negativefor a long time, and he's
absolutely correct.
Y'all stop being so negativebecause we are 4-0 right now,
right?
Right, and we are they we andit's hard to hold somebody to
zero.
Um, what was it?

(25:39):
What did he say?
Oh, and something on third down, yeah, oh 13 or something like
that on third down.

SPEAKER_03 (25:45):
No conversion, exactly.

SPEAKER_04 (25:46):
That's no conversion, it's hard to do.
Let's talk about that.
So he's doing his job by gettingthings getting the media to talk
about positive things.
It was just funny in the way hedid it.
Um, but uh man, listen, I I'musually in Shreveport with the
family for that AM game, right?

(26:07):
And uh I always miss it, Ialways uh give up my tickets
that game.
Um, I told my mama already I'mcoming back.
I'm I'm gonna leave, I'm gonnaleave Shreveport early to make
it back on time to come back toDKR Stadium and go to that AM
game.
It's gonna be fun.
Um, hopefully our guys are ontrack and ready to go because AM

(26:28):
is gonna be um they're gonna bea force at the end of the year
because they're they're they'restill they steady getting
better, and um so and then whatwe need to do is stay to get
better as well, and so um that'sgonna be a really good game at
the end of the season.

SPEAKER_03 (26:43):
Yeah, like like Elko man talking about the the fans
and the media, man.
That that's you know what youalready know what it is.
That's Aggie gone Aggie, like besatisfied with four or no, like
like come on now.
It's not like you guys have beenjust that this dominant force.
I mean, you finally got a goodleader in place, it feels like
um you overcame the wholerecruiting debacle of that 2022

(27:04):
class, or you know, paying thoseguys millions of dollars and all
of them transferred.
I mean, I mean you you kind ofrighted the ship.
Let's let's let's chill, let'schill, let me keep this thing
going.
Y'all just be supportive insteadof being acting like we won
three or four nationalchampionships because we know
you haven't done that at all.

SPEAKER_04 (27:24):
Absolutely.

SPEAKER_09 (27:25):
That's so I was thoroughly entertained by this.
I I really the big boy receiver, the old line with old lineman
with hands for Alabama in thatupset in Athens.

(28:15):
Caden Proctor, that's that's anathlete.
That looked like Stevie Lee inhis prime almost.
Okay.

SPEAKER_03 (28:25):
Mike, he is Bama back.
Man, I think so.
They they look very, very good.
I honestly thought that uhGeorgia might win the game.
I mean, I picked George to winthe game.
I did have some reservationsabout the the quarterback
matchup.
I felt like uh, you know,Alabama's quarterback, you know,

(28:46):
probably had the advantage andhe showed it.
He he showed it, man.
Alabama looks very good.
They they kind of remind me,they look like Washington two
years ago with the with thetrunk the three receivers, the
quarterback play, they got therunning back back, you know,
their defense seems to begelling together, coming
together.
I mean, they just went into theuh man, the hedges.

(29:10):
They went between the hedges andcame out with a victory.
Not many teams do that.
That's a topic.
It's hard to play there.
It's hard to play there.
Exactly.
And they did it.
Now, I had to say, man,Alabama's definitely a top 10
football team right now at thisjunction in the season.
Definitely.

SPEAKER_09 (29:28):
Stevie, uh, are you buying it?

SPEAKER_04 (29:32):
Uh I need one more big game out of them.
Um I need one more big game, man.
Um it's uh because for me, man,the reason Alabama was so good
was the spirit of um of NickSaban there.
And when he left, I mean, another coach can come in and
win some big games, but I needsome consistency to say that

(29:53):
Alabama is back.
You know what I mean?
So it's just like with Texas, too.
I'd say the same thing.
People like oh, Texas is backafter one big game.
Nah, remember when we beat um uhNotre Dame here?
Well, a couple years, a fewyears ago, when we beat Notre
Dame here.
Yeah, oh Tyrols, yeah, yeah.

(30:13):
And everybody was like, Texas isback.
Tex well, we weren't we weren'tback.

SPEAKER_09 (30:19):
Bad teams on the field that day.

SPEAKER_04 (30:21):
Yeah, exactly.
So I don't know, man.
I I need one more big gameAlabama to say they're back,
quote unquote.
You know what I mean?

SPEAKER_03 (30:29):
I think they're gonna I think they're gonna give
it to you.
I mean, I think Saturday, man, that was a pivotal game for the
board.
I mean, obviously on the highseat that's been on the high
seats really since he took thejob.
Yeah, you you you pointed to it,man.
I mean, you know, losing againstFlorida State this year, and you
know, kind of, you know, you youstill got the Nick Saban
hangover, and I think Saturdaywas huge from that aspect.

(30:51):
I think he now feels like hekind of got that monkey off his
back, and he feels like it'sprobably his team, and he's
probably got some of his guys, you know.
You you can just see thewrinkles like with the offense,
like like that.
That looked like Washington2023, 2024.
I mean, I mean, those guys areyou know, he found him a
quarterback.
I mean, that guy's gonna getdrafted, dude.

(31:11):
What what's what's the name?
I kind of forgot.
I keep wanting to call him uhwhy am I forgetting it?
I know, I don't know why I'mforgetting it, but he's an NFL
caliber quarterback.
He is that guy has wheels, man.
He's making reads, he's makingtight throws and windows.
I mean, I mean, he's playinghimself into an NFL career at
this point, and he's got thosetriumphant receivers, man.

(31:32):
They got big time playmakers.
I I think that was a coming outparty for Ken and the board to
be honest.
Would it shock me one bit?
I'm I probably shouldn't saythis, but don't be surprised if
Bama beats Vanderbilt by twotouchdowns.
Don't be surprised.
Oh don't be surprised.

(31:53):
Man, I felt I got heartburn onthat one.
Don't be surprised.
Hey, hey, the boy is don't beespecially with them kind of
upsetting uh Georgia last year, and they're riding high, and
they go into Vanderbilt and theyget beat.
They got handle, really.
That's on his mind.

(32:13):
Trust me, that that's on hismind.
That that actually elevated himback to the hot seat.
It did, it did.
He's back on the perch.
Exactly.
I think this time he exercisedhis demons.
Stephen Lee, I think they areback.
I think these guys are gonnaroll on Saturday.
Roll roll roll time.
I think they're gonna roll.

SPEAKER_09 (32:33):
George T would love to hear you say that.
So the team that beat them,Florida State, they were upset
at Virginia, and I still don'tknow about that receiver who
when I'm that storming of thefield in Charlottesville,
Virginia.
I still don't know if thatreceiver was trampled or not.
No one's given a welfare welfarecheck to that seminole receiver.

(32:56):
All those students justdisregarded any seminole on the
field, but it only cost UBA 50grand.
And of course, uh, our guy, uh,the the old miss head coach
Kiffin was asked about that andthe cost of why their fans

(33:16):
didn't storm the field when theybeat LSU.
And he was asked, how much wouldthat cost if they did?

SPEAKER_00 (33:24):
Get you half of one of their DBs.
Just to give them since you wantsince you're asking.
Um, but uh I just think it it'ssays a lot of where we're at,
you know.
Um we lost down there, and LSUstormed the field last year
against Ole Miss.

(33:44):
And that doesn't seem likethat's supposed to happen.
And then here we beat them here, and we don't storm the field.
So um good spot to be in.

SPEAKER_09 (33:54):
Hey, there we're about to see it.
Ole Miss is way up there now inthe in the rank is in our power
12.
So I think that's funny.
He said uh for the cost of whatit would have been for Ole Miss
fans to storm the field, theycould have bought one of LSU's
DBs.

SPEAKER_04 (34:14):
Well, he said half of one of their DBs.

SPEAKER_09 (34:16):
That's right.
Half of one of them.
Yeah.
So big twelve uh the powertwelve.
Guys, we saw some movement.
Here's what it looks like thisweek the power 12 and four on
the outside.

(35:00):
Are we uh are we in adisagreement, agreed, or I don't
know what to say.

SPEAKER_04 (35:06):
Oh, I don't know about putting Oregon all the way
up to second.
I don't know.

SPEAKER_03 (35:13):
They went in shape.
That Oregon team looked thatlooked like a different Oregon
team.
Yeah, they were grimy, they weregritty, win that game on the
road with a fairly youngquarterback, one in overtime at
that.
Definitely top five.
Three or two, maybe yeah, I'mwith you a little bit, but I I I

(35:37):
can understand why though.

SPEAKER_04 (35:38):
When winning in front of 115,000, that that's
you're right, and all the wayacross the country, too.

SPEAKER_03 (35:45):
So yeah, yeah, time difference.
Yeah, exactly.
They look ready to go, man.
That that was a gritty, grimygame, three, three to half, and
Oregon kind of seized control,man.
And and really, I thought oncethey went up 17-3, I'm like,
okay, it's it's it's over.
Now it's definitely about to bea blowout.
Still not sure how P Statescored.
Oregon might let off the gas alittle bit defensively.

(36:05):
They gave up, I don't know howthey gave that up, man.
And really disappointed PNState, bro.
I don't know about P State atnumber six now or seven,
wherever they were.
Honestly, they they may needthey they may need to be on the
fringe of the topic.
10 or 12?
Yes, yes, yes, lose at home.
Yes, well, very poor schedule.
They played.
Then you play a big timeopponent, you get smacked in the

(36:28):
mouth.
Like, not not feeling Penn Stateright now.

SPEAKER_04 (36:32):
They didn't get smacked in the mouth, they went
to overtime.
Come on, man.

SPEAKER_03 (36:35):
Give us some baby lead is 17 to 3 with like four
minutes left.
Like, like, like, yeah, I don'tknow, man.
And Drew Aller, top quarterbackpick, top pick.
Stop it right now.
Like, like just stop.

SPEAKER_09 (36:52):
So we were three and three with our upset potential
last week.
You're gonna like this list,Mike, because they're one of
your sons play for well.
I'm saying uh we'll just jump toit.
You've already said Bama's gonnahandle Vanderbilt.
I think Vanderbilt could go inthere and beat him, but we've
got Virginia riding sky high.

(37:13):
Haven't they haven't lost a gameyet?
They go to Louisville.
Can the Cardinals pull that off?

SPEAKER_03 (37:20):
That that's gonna be a big time game.
Um, I am going to it, so I willbe there and see it in person.
Virginia looks scary, man.
They look, I mean, you gotanother Texas guy playing
quarterback, knows that system.
Um, Tony Elliott, man, greathead coach, finally has that
program turn the corner.
That Virginia's physical.

(37:41):
I mean, they beat Florida State, who beat Alabama, beat them
pretty good.
No, it's it's a scary game forLouisville for real.
It's it's a scary game, and youknow, Louisville kind of they
they worked hard to get back toyou know 1717 tie in pit, which
was a tough game.
And it really, if it weren't fora few turnovers by Pitts
quarterback, they they probablyhad that game.

(38:03):
So um, man, Louisville's gottaplay a perfect game, down near
perfect, like to win this game.
Virginia's gonna be good, they're gonna be ready.
I know now Louisville is like aseven-point favorite right now,
it may have dipped a little biteven lower, but um it can't be a
mistake prone game, kind of likewe had a couple days ago.
Um they they they better beready to play Virginia.

(38:25):
Man, Virginia, man.
Every time I think of Virginia,I just think about those guys
that we played in the rainin '96.
And and that we played himin '95 and beat them on the last
thing of field goal by PhilDawson.
96, man, they just they brokeus.
They broke us, man.
They they point dexter playingsafety.
That guy's coming down lookinglike Ed Reed before Ed Reed was

(38:48):
even born, bro.
Probably one of the best SadiesI've been around, seen played
against.
Uh Tiki, Ronde, Barber.
I mean, I and I think ofVirginia, I think of those guys,
and that was kind of thatatmosphere they had on Friday.
And they'll be taking it on theroad, man.
They're gonna be tough.
That's gonna be a tough out.
Louisville's gonna have to playa perfect game.

SPEAKER_09 (39:08):
Stevie, on this list of six.
Which one do you think is an upis a lock to be an upset?

SPEAKER_04 (39:16):
A lock to be an upset, yeah.
I I uh I'm not gonna lie to you,man.
I was I got Louisville.
Really?
Uh yeah, UVA is uh riding athigh, bro.
The the the school rushed thefield.
There might be students still onthe field out there, man.
They are partying on that campusall week, man.

SPEAKER_03 (39:37):
I know for sure it's the body out there on the field
from Florida.
Yeah, right.

SPEAKER_04 (39:42):
Right.
So I um when that happens, ifyou notice in college football,
man, you know, somebody getreal, real high, yep, and they
let the they let that game, they're gonna let Florida State
beat them the next week.
So that happens in in collegefootball.
So I'm thinking that happensagain with Louisville.

(40:06):
They're gonna ride that highfrom that win and then and get
up to um what what town theyplay in?
Louisville.
It's in Louisville, yeah.
Yeah, yeah, it's in Louisville.
It's in Louisville.
My bad, guys.
Uh so they're gonna get up toLouisville and and actually um I
I say beat them.

(40:26):
I mean, beat beat uh Louisvillebeat UVA.

SPEAKER_09 (40:30):
So my lock is uh with Meetam as the interim coach
for the OSU Cowboys.
They looked a lot better againstBaylor.
Um, I think they go into Tucsonand upset the Wildcats.
And this is our unofficialtribute to the former legendary

(40:54):
OSU cowboy that's no longer thehead coach.

SPEAKER_01 (40:57):
I'm a man! I'm 40!

SPEAKER_08 (40:58):
Well, last year it was Mary Kay, ladies, and your
interaction.
This year you you're bringingthe style to a new another
level.
You have a new hairdo.
What is this your wife'sdecision, or is this something
you were coming to?
I thought Mary Kay was gonna behere again.

SPEAKER_01 (41:11):
And so I got here and it was just you guys.
And so pretty much I wasted twomonths of hair growth.
You'd like to have that, wouldn't you?
I'm heading toward a mole, youknow, get a little bit of loose
perm in there and get a bi-levelcut and go right back to it.

SPEAKER_09 (41:25):
I don't understand why our our boxes are like this,
but oh wow, that's we need someViagra in here.
A bi-level.

SPEAKER_04 (41:33):
So why why did he take a shot at you, man?
You just asking a question.

SPEAKER_09 (41:38):
Well, he back then it took him a few years when I
was an OKC, but he realized Inever I was really serious about
anything, and but he humored it.
And you know how those at mediadays, those interviews, those
questions asked are ridiculous.
They get old.
They're about I'm not evengonna, I know I don't want to

(41:59):
insult anybody, but it just getsold, you get the same thing
asked for four hours.
Yep, so I come in there hot withsomething random.
Now, maybe maybe my stuff's notquality material, but uh, but
anyway, I I hated to see it in,but we all know everything, and
you guys mentioned it.
Yeah, we both agreed it wasprobably over, and the very next

(42:21):
day it happened.
Yep, it did.

SPEAKER_03 (42:25):
Sure did.
Nah, it was yeah, you can.
I kind of hate that as a formerplayer, he's a former player,
man.
He was he was back in that era, man.
Hartley Dykes and all thoseguys.
Um, yeah, Gunny's been aroundfor a long time.
I I wish, and I and I waslistening to you know college
sports on uh you know series 84,and you know, I think I heard

(42:45):
one of those guys say it best.
They said, uh, you just wish hecould have he's supposed to be
in Oklahoma State in some typeof capacity, you know, as much
as he's done for the school andand just kind of you know been a
player and been a coach for along time.
And uh you wish he could haveended better, but you know, um
sometimes, man, and I think it'sa lesson for coaches, man.

(43:07):
I mean, you you you gotta beable to change and adapt to to
the uh you know the the scenerythat is college football today,
and and you know, I think that'swhy Saban got out of the game.
I think that's why Dabo ishaving trouble where he is.
I mean, guys better learn how toadapt, or you know, it's it's
gonna pass you by and it mayforce you out.

(43:28):
So um, I'm sure he'll findanother job.
Hopefully, maybe.
I mean, they may look at thissituation and be like, I don't
know, I don't know if that's theguy we want to bring in.
He didn't quite adapt to youknow the the changing times
around him.
Today's athlete and today's uhyou know, business of college
athletics.
So I don't know, man.
He's good coach, good dude, butyeah, it is yeah, it went sour,

(43:51):
went sour fast.

SPEAKER_09 (43:53):
Stevie, he's getting a 15 million dollar buyout,
which is going to pay, I think, through the 28th season,
something like that.
Um, I texted his brother Cal.
I said, Man, I I thought thatwas poorly handled by the
university.
And he his response was, youknow what?
We've been blessed, and the sunwill rise tomorrow.

SPEAKER_04 (44:15):
The sun will rise tomorrow, and I'm getting 15 or
5 million dollars a year.
So getting five million dollarsa year to sit on the couch,
there's nothing wrong with that,man.
Um, I I I can leave right now.
What door you want me to leaveout of?
So he's he's um in all honesty,man.
He's touched um some young men'slives.

(44:39):
Um uh being a leader for for uhOSU.
He's gonna be okay.
And uh there's some kids thatabsolutely love him.
Um, he can find another job ifhe wants it.
Uh but he can he can hang it upbecause that that that I'm a
man, I'm 40.
What was that?
Was that what 15 years ago?
That was 2007.

(44:59):
2007, almost 20 years ago.
Yeah, oh yeah, he's done.
He he he didn't have to doanything else, man.
He's he'll be perfectly fine, take his 15 million dollars and
sit down and and and and drinkcoffee the rest of his life, or
go to ESPN or Fox and and andand get flown around the country
and talk about football, right?

SPEAKER_09 (45:20):
He'd be ideal for that.

SPEAKER_04 (45:22):
Yep.

SPEAKER_09 (45:23):
Playmaker 83, man.
This is it's always a pleasure,man.
It's always fun.
Hey, man, you you bring the bestout of Stevie, I've noticed.

SPEAKER_03 (45:32):
Hey, I'm learning from both of y'all.
I'm learning from you guys, man.
Y'all got those high takes.
I'm like, man, I better, Ibetter make you have a high take
of my own.

SPEAKER_09 (45:41):
It's a high value take, yes, sir.
Hey, good luck to your boys.
And hey man, we're pulling for aLouisville to upset the what do
they call them?
The Wahoos, yeah.

SPEAKER_03 (45:51):
The Wahoos, man.
Wahoos.
Yeah, that's that's gonna be agood game, man.
Uh, yeah.
I was kind of like, man, hey,you know, they were in trouble
with Pitt.
I'm like, okay, Deuce mightactually get some run.
What time do they this thinggetting out of hand?
Uh, it's gonna be a 3:30 start,330 uh East Coast time.
Yeah, they'll be on uh ESPN2opposite the the Florida Texas

(46:13):
game.
So so yeah, nah, it'll it'll beit's gonna be a fun game, man.
Hopefully, uh the stadium'spacked out.
It's the only stadium in Americafor college that has seat backs.
It's actually constructed likean old school professional
football stadium.
Okay, uh every seat in there isuh you know, it's fully seat
backed.

(46:33):
Um, nice little stadium, man.
Nice, nice atmosphere.
I'm pretty sure that it'll berocking.
So hopefully the cars come outthere and get it done, man.

SPEAKER_09 (46:41):
Man, we really need that's that sounds like a great
stadium for people like me thathas degenerative disc in our
lower backs.

SPEAKER_03 (46:47):
Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah.
Hell, I'm 52.
I'm right there with you.
I'm 51, and yeah, I need thatnice heat back, dude.
I can't, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_09 (46:58):
Oh my god.
Well, we'll be pulling for deuceand safe travels to Louisville,
brother.

SPEAKER_03 (47:04):
Definitely, man.
Appreciate y'all and lookforward to getting back next
week.
And hopefully, we got some goodnews on both fronts.
On both horns win, and hopefullycars win, and we have some more
high takes heading to OU weekbecause we know we we know
regardless of who's startingquarterback with OU, they still
suck, so it's not gonna matter.

(47:26):
Yes, sir.

SPEAKER_09 (47:28):
Um, we got we're gonna find our time before he
gets all started.
Hey, we're gonna it's gonnawe're gonna have a special
segment for you next week forsure.

SPEAKER_03 (47:38):
Oh my god, that's always a fun week, man.
Always a fun week.
Always fun.

SPEAKER_09 (47:43):
Oh god, that is beautiful.
That's beautiful, Mike Adams.
Much love to you and yourfamily, man.
We will definitely talk someTexas OU sooners and Longhorn
Hate a week every day.

SPEAKER_03 (47:56):
Appreciate you, brothers, man.
Good seeing y'all, and uh yeah,I'm sure we'll chop it up this
week.
And and man, it's alwayshook 'em.

SPEAKER_09 (48:03):
We'll see you, brother.

SPEAKER_03 (48:05):
All right, brothers.

SPEAKER_09 (48:06):
Hey, be good.
Yes, sir.
This was Coach Carthell, StephenF.
Buddy of mine, Bobby Riggs.
Shout out.
After the game, Bobby brings hisbeer.
Coach Carthell says, Hold thatbeer up after that after Stephen

(48:27):
F.
Austin beat McNey State soundly.
What would you caption this?

SPEAKER_04 (48:33):
Oh man, I don't know.
Golly.
Uh ax him, that's all.
I don't know, man.
One word, powerful, to thepoint.

SPEAKER_09 (48:50):
That's why we love Stevie Lee.
Hey, let's go to uh HargroveRoofing's new NIL partner, the
Texas kicker.
He is going to promote HargroveRoofing in his own way.
We'll see you on the other sideof this break.
What's your life deliberate?

SPEAKER_08 (49:07):
I'd like to deliver this.
I'd like to get him.
And then I'd like to click theclick.

SPEAKER_09 (49:47):
Matthew Golden, welcome to the NFL.

SPEAKER_04 (49:49):
Yeah, I saw that last night, man.
Don't take your eye off the ballor the man.

SPEAKER_09 (49:54):
Oh.
Oh my God.
Hey, Golden's a star.

SPEAKER_04 (50:00):
Yeah, protect yourself at all times, kid.

SPEAKER_09 (50:02):
So, real quick, impressed with the Cowboys
offense.
I thought defensively, notawful, but a tie.

SPEAKER_04 (50:14):
Man, it feels so icky to wake up the next morning
and see that grown men tied afootball game.
I don't like it at all.
We need to change this.
We need to make a petitionoutside at six times.
I cannot watch a grown man uh uhNFL game in in a tie.
That's just dumb.
If the kids don't do it incollege, you should not do it in

(50:37):
the pros.
You're getting allowed.

SPEAKER_09 (50:39):
Yeah.
Should not be allowed.
I agree.
Hey, shout out, and listen, I'mnot biased.
I this is the fifth week of theATX high school football team of
the week.
The Anderson Trojans, 4-0 forthe first time since 2010.

SPEAKER_04 (50:55):
Yep.

SPEAKER_09 (50:56):
And guess what?
They beat AM Consolidated ofState Power and Aggie Land in
six overtimes, 42-40.
Um, not many people have donethat.
