Speaker 1 (00:54):
Reporting on the snow
.
I mean it's in the streets,Damn.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
Stevie, we've all
been there oh, yep hey, whatever
ice in our part of the country, and even back in your home area
, streetport louisiana, when itices, snows, none of us know how
to handle it.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
Shut it down.
Shut it down and stay in thehouse.
Speaker 3 (01:27):
That's right, man.
So this past week, man, we hada little snow and ice, and you
know everybody, you know what.
There wasn't a lot ofproductivity for those who have
career jobs, so to speak.
Yeah, Yep, we hunkered down andstayed in the house with the
kids so here, before we get itrolling, man, I gotta show you
(01:51):
this is so if you're watchingfrom the north, the midwest,
from about oklahoma, up of thenortheast, hey, we see you.
Uh, folks in ohio who have beentuning in on youtube.
So, hey, hey, much love to Ohio.
I got a feeling I know why youare watching lately because of
Ohio State Texas CFP NationalChampionship.
(02:13):
But this is how we roll downhere in the South and in Texas.
This is a guy that from my SFAdays he's a rodeo star and out
on his ranch, let's just callthis snow skiing Texas style.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
This is so fun.
Speaker 3 (02:40):
That's how we do it,
baby.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
That's how we do it.
I love it.
Speaker 3 (02:44):
Did junior girls did
they get?
We do it, baby, it's how we doit, I love it.
Did you and your girls?
Did they get out in it, play init in the neighborhood,
anything like that?
Speaker 2 (02:51):
They are over it, man
.
My youngest one walked out inthe driveway, put her feet, her
footprints, in the driveway snowand then walked back in the
house and we all snowed it up onthe couch.
Speaker 3 (03:02):

family.
Without them, this would noteven be possible, and stevie lee
is the face of hard grow roofam I the face of hard grow
roofing?
well, unofficially, I I thinkyou are no Hargrove Roofing man.
Speaker 2 (04:07):
Those are my guys
Hargrove Roofing.
Know who's on your roof.
Speaker 3 (04:11):
Know who's on your
roof, all right, so coming up,
we know the Longhorns footballseason is over with.
It moves quickly.
It was a long season, butthat's good.
There's roster moves.
So far, the coaching staffremains intact for the most part
, but nowadays there's a lot ofmovement on rosters across the
country.
(04:31):
Texas has a lot of people toreplace who are going to the NFL
.
Guys who left through theportal we're going to talk about
it and the Wall Street Journal, their most valuable college
football programs and what theyplace to value on each program.
I think you can take a guesswhere UT is and we're going to
(04:53):
talk about it.
Man, stevie Lee, man, are youready?
Are you ready for this?
Speaker 2 (04:58):
Let's do it.
Speaker 3 (04:59):
Let's ride baby.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
Hey, bitch, I'm from
Texas.
Well, we still ride in swangasand put diamonds hey.
Speaker 3 (05:33):
DKR looks beautiful
from every aspect, every element
.
See, even we had some of thatwhite stuff here in Austin Texas
, just not as much as you.
I mean, they had more snow inBaton Rouge on the ground than
they did in Fairbanks, alaska.
Yeah, Isn't that wild.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
Yeah, that storm came
down through the south south of
Texas.
Houston had more snow than us.
Speaker 3 (05:57):
A lot more.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
Yeah and went all.
I mean seeing the pictures ofbeaches being snowed up like it
was.
Speaker 3 (06:04):
That was weird to see
, to me, man, the Galveston
seawall.
You couldn't see it.
Speaker 2 (06:09):
Yeah absolutely.
Speaker 3 (06:11):
And then you know in
New Orleans which was bizarre
people skiing down BourbonStreet and playing hockey.
Yeah, nola is a hockey town now.
Well, let's get into it.
Man, say goodbye to 2024.
Back-to-back, phenomenalseasons.
I don't want to say it, but ifyou want to say it, texas is
(06:34):
back.
They have won 25 games the pasttwo seasons.
Steve Sarkeesian bringsstability.
There's stability on thatcoaching staff.
How do you encapsulate as weclose the book on 2024 and start
preparing for the secondsigning class?
For Texas, it's going to beportal additions.
What did 2024 do for the Texasfootball program, where you
(07:00):
could check it off and say youfeel comfortable with the
stability?
Speaker 2 (07:06):
2024, you could check
it off and say you feel
comfortable with the stability.
2024 solidified the wholesaying of we're back, because if
you do it two times, twice backto back, we got something
special brewing.
You know what I'm saying?
That's what it showed me, man,we went to the semifinals of the
playoffs two years ago.
(07:27):
Is that two years ago?
Yeah, and then, well, last year, and then this year, we go to
the semifinals of the playoff.
We have sustainability, success, sustainable success.
So we just need to keepbuilding off of that.
And now these kids are theyrecruits or are we calling them
free agents now?
Speaker 3 (07:49):
What are we calling
them?
Speaker 2 (07:50):
Signees, Signees yeah
, exactly Now, the signees that
actually want to go somewhere.
And you know, yes, make alittle money, but actually go
somewhere and be successful in awinning program.
We're showing you that we're awinning program by doing it back
to back.
So that's what 2024 showed methat we can do it for a long
(08:12):
period of time and keeping ourstaff together.
That's huge.
I actually got a bet that I'mactually losing right now.
I thought that our staff's sogood they're going to get
poached.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
Yep, it usually
happens.
It's a good sign.
Speaker 2 (08:27):
If it happens, yeah
it is, and so it's an even
better sign that we keep them.
My bet was two and a halfcoaches was going to get poached
.
Speaker 3 (08:37):
A half.
Speaker 2 (08:38):
Yeah, who would bet?
So I said getting poached twoand a half.
So it can't be two, it has tobe three, you know.
Speaker 3 (08:50):
Oh, you're talking
about, like the Vegas odds.
Speaker 2 (08:52):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, but
me and a friend bet that.
He said we're not going to loseany.
I said we're going to lose twoand a half.
Speaker 3 (09:02):
Well, I've got a
feeling.
You know I take you on that bet, but now that I'm really
thinking about it, I don't knowthis.
You know, you and I are bothtold a lot of things a lot of
things.
Some of it's exaggerated, someof it's okay.
There's some legs to that, butit's not truly reality and some
of it is factual information.
(09:22):
About 25% of my information islegit.
Speaker 2 (09:29):
But I think, and 75%
is bullshit, bullshit.
Speaker 3 (09:34):
Bullshit, but what
I'm trying to get at is the
simple fact that I think, fromwhat I've gathered, that a lot
of members of this staff theyare all in on staying together
until they win a championship itseems like it, man.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
It seems like it now.
Let's not, um, let's not foolourselves right when we're going
to talk about this later.
We got the money to keep them.
So, yes, they may be wanting towin a championship, because the
University of Texas is outthere matching people's offers.
Speaker 3 (10:13):
That and then all
these contracts Sark's not the
only one Most contracts forcoaches, even in the lower
Division I level, if you want togo down to Division II.
I don't know about Division III.
So FCS, fbs, division II, a lotof these contracts are
incentive-laden you win X amountof games.
You go to the playoffs.
You go to a bowl.
(10:34):
You win a conference title.
You win a playoff game.
You add chips, so to speak.
Money, so to speak.
From what I've heard, sarkrewarded his assistants some
more of that pool of bonus moneyfor what they're doing About
(10:55):
2025, what is it that they cansustain?
What is it about 2025 thatgives you the fan?
Everybody hope that they cansustain this.
Make it three years in a row.
Speaker 2 (11:11):
One we got that young
quarterback that's back there
now.
We know Quinn is moving on tothe NFL and we had a backup
quarterback come in and doreally well for us and if he has
a whole off season gettingnumber one reps and getting
timing down with these receivers, that's going to be great.
(11:33):
Number two PK is back.
Defense was awesome.
Number three we know Sark knowshow to hit the transfer portal.
Yeah, with kids that aretransferring in and out, and so
I'm very optimistic about 2025and 2026 season, and so I guess
(11:58):
everyone is over thereoptimistic and smiling and
licking their chops and justcan't wait already.
What's in store?
Coach Becton has got these kidsback in the gym, back in the
weight room, back on the fieldrunning already, and it's going
to be a glorious 2025.
For the insider stuff, you justgot to wait and see until I go
(12:20):
to spring ball, yep.
So stay tuned, guys.
Stay tuned.
So stay tuned guys.
Speaker 3 (12:24):
Stay tuned.
So you mentioned it, the fanbase, if you're not already.
A lot of people understand howit works and I think some fans
need to start.
I think gradually will.
This is across the country.
Enough with the negativity forthe reason or reason.
(12:45):
A young man enters the portal, the portal.
You can't blame the kid, youcan't blame the coaches.
Uh, it's the system.
Right now, the portal isnecessary and I believe there
were nine, nine longhorns whoare in the portal.
I have already found homes somein the Big 12, and some other
(13:07):
programs.
You've got nine guys.
You're a fellow defensivelineman and you see three or
four defensive linemen, maybefive, who are in the portal at
new homes, arizona.
The guy who came in with BillNorton transferred back to
(13:27):
Arizona.
You got Aaron Bryant defensivelineman, who's going to
Vanderbilt, then a couple othersare going to Mississippi State.
When you try to have theseconversations with the fans, you
and I understand this.
Most do, but some still havethat not resentment, but like
(13:52):
why?
Why would you leave thisdefense?
How would you tell the fans abasic surface level, why?
Because you just rattled offreasons why.
Pete Kwiatkowski, dcdevelopment Are these kids that
are leaving that have found newhomes, some in the SEC and Big
12?
Is it that they're not going todevelop at Texas?
(14:15):
What is it if you had to guess?
Speaker 2 (14:19):
One of the things is
we got some phenomenal athletes
at the University of Texas andif you feel like you're not
going to see the field andyou're trying to go on to the
next level, then you might needto see the field in another
program.
Maybe PK's defense doesn't fityour body style or your playing
style.
Those factor in what I don'tlike.
(14:43):
What factors in is if someoneneeds a check and they're just
going to go chase money.
Yeah, I agree with that.
Yeah, that's part of it too, unfortunately.
So you alluded to NIL is goodfor the game and good for
football.
I'm going to push back on thata little bit.
(15:04):
Nil is good for the individualand it's needed, and we do need
these kids to get paid off theirname, image and likeness.
But I don't think it's good forfootball as a whole and we got
to figure out a way to protectthe brand but still allow NIL
(15:26):
for these kids, right.
So that's all in the works andit's still the wild, wild west
right now, but I don't thinkit's good for the brand and for
football as a whole.
It's just good for theindividual right now.
Speaker 3 (15:44):
Well said it is.
It gives people an opportunity.
But the thing is, we've talkedabout this a lot in other
podcasts, other media outlets.
Everybody has a good point thatwhat NIL is right now was not
how it was intended to look like.
Absolutely, absolutely.
Speaker 2 (16:03):
But I'm all for a kid
leaving college that don't play
on in the NFL.
He can leave college with halfa million dollars in his pocket
and that's okay.
Speaker 3 (16:14):
Yeah Well, and to
those who don't say why the
university's not eachuniversity's not paying them
it's through collectives.
Speaker 2 (16:24):
Collectives.
Speaker 3 (16:26):
Fund raised
independently.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
Yeah, and you'll see
this Wall Street Journal post
here I'll show you.
Speaker 3 (16:37):
So what are your
needs If you quit snap judgment?
What are your portal needs forTexas that they need to go after
and fill?
Speaker 2 (16:46):
I think we need to
fill some defensive tackle spots
100%.
Defensive tackle spots.
I think we need a couple BBsMaybe.
Yeah, receivers, we lost twooffice oh and we oh.
(17:06):
We lost to two offers alignment, but we got some.
We had some good studs comingbehind these guys too, so four
of the starters on the wholeline are gone four of the five,
yeah, starters, yeah, but we hadsome good guys behind them
Goosby, yeah, goosby.
Good, big, solid guys behindthem.
(17:26):
So I think that we're good.
We may need to go out there andand and research some people
that may be out there on the oldline, but I think receivers Um
and um, yeah, that and yeah, that's about it.
We're solid at quarterback.
Speaker 3 (17:42):
Yeah, I would say
that you know.
And Trey Owens and Arch ManningWe've all heard of Arch If you
haven't, you might want to getout of hibernation.
His uncles are pretty good, butapparently his dad was the best
athlete and maybe his mom wasthe best athlete of them all.
(18:05):
But when you look, youmentioned receivers.
So keep in mind Texas, earlysigning class number one in the
country oozes with athleticability.
They've got O-linemen, they'vegot receivers.
The thing that I want to focuson is you know if you're going
to go after the portal obviouslyD-line, I think, a tight end,
perhaps because you lose.
You lost an eye block.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
Oh yes.
Speaker 3 (18:26):
And, but honestly he
wanted more numbers.
He was a good blocking tightend too, and that's he did help.
You know you could probably youcan make, if you want to be
critical.
That edge wasn't sealed offagainst Ohio State very well.
But I don't blame the kid.
If he's going to help his stockhe can go ahead.
But there's one name that I'vebeen following.
(18:50):
I don't know if anything hashappened over the weekend, but
you remember that third receiverfor Ohio State, carnell Tate.
Speaker 2 (18:57):
Mm-hmm.
Speaker 3 (18:58):
That's in the mix for
him.
Speaker 2 (19:02):
That's good.
Yeah, we need a couple morereceivers, and we need receivers
that can blow the top off thedefense, because Arch can get it
out there to them.
Speaker 3 (19:13):
You know you have
Bonds gone, golden I think and
then you've got.
You know number 11 was a goodspecial teams guy and a good
receiver.
But this freshman class if yougo through those names, there's
some names on that signing class.
(19:33):
I mean we're talking aboutquick twitch, elite, speed,
over-the-top guys that you werereferencing.
So we're going to see a busyone.
This spring period opens, thisnext portal window opens and you
know Texas has hosted playersover this past weekend.
Speaker 2 (19:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (19:53):
They were on campus
this week and you're talking
about some of the top talents inthe country at various
positions.
They're on campus and some ofthem were back for a second time
.
All right, I've got to get yourthoughts on Ohio State, the
team who knocked off Texas inthe semifinal.
They jumped on Notre Dame andshockingly shockingly, I've got
(20:17):
to give credit Notre Dame showedfight.
They did shockingly, I gottagive credit, notre Dame showed
fight.
They did.
They made it interesting late.
But what's your thoughts aboutOhio State?
I know what you're going to say.
Initially, the nationalchampionship game was the week
prior absolutely it was, absolutely it was.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
And don't argue with
me, go argue with somebody else,
because that was the nationalchampionship game.
But Ohio State man, hats off tothem.
We lined the ball up on theball lot and they beat us right.
And then they did it again thenext week and they beat Notre
Dame.
Notre Dame is still achampionship team, right.
(20:54):
So they did try to come backthey still, but they came up
short.
Come back they still, but theycame up short.
Ohio State crowned you got tocrown them.
They're the best football teamin the country in the NCAA.
But they're well coached.
They made adjustments a littlebit better than we did.
(21:18):
That last drive.
We kind of got it in our ownway because we can punch the
ball in the end zone.
We had problems with that theyear before last and we got rid
of that problem and we juststill should ride with what,
(21:40):
what we were doing.
And then we kind of got cuteand and didn't punch the ball in
at the end, at the, at the endof the game.
So, but hats off to Ohio state.
The first game of the year isagainst Ohio state, at Ohio
state.
So we get another shot at them.
It's not for the big game, butit's some kind of redemptive
(22:04):
qualities in that game, so it'sgoing to be fun.
But they came out and playedand they knew they wanted to win
the national championship andthat's exactly what they did.
Speaker 3 (22:16):
They're the best team
in the country.
Yeah, there's no doubt.
Speaker 2 (22:20):
Michigan can say we
beat them, though.
Speaker 3 (22:23):
So that trickles down
the tree.
It goes Ohio State, michigan,texas.
It's Texas beat Michigan.
What was hilarious?
And first off, before I sayanything, before we talk about
this golf cart crash, which wasabsolutely hilarious.
Golf cart crash, which wasabsolutely hilarious.
Buckeye Nation, you owe RyanDay an apology for being an
(22:46):
asshole to your head coach.
I mean, I get it.
You lose to your rival fouryears in a row.
I get it.
You're as passionate.
Texas and Ohio State fan basesare both very passionate why
Ohio State has won eight, ninenational championships.
I have nothing but respect, man, I can't wait to see the
(23:07):
horseshoe one day, hopefullythis year.
I hope to tailgate with someOhio State fans.
But, oh, send Ryan Day ahandwritten note.
All of you Apologize to thatman.
Speaker 2 (23:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (23:23):
That's all.
Speaker 2 (23:25):
They were ready to
fire him after he lost to
Michigan, and then, all of asudden, he's our best friend,
yeah.
Speaker 3 (23:36):
So the CFP staff, you
know all these bowl games, the
big bowl games.
They have golf carts that takeplayers from the locker room to
the media availability or pressconference, the chosen ones.
Well, this poor girl, shemisjudged how long the golf cart
was and man almost threw CoachRyan Day on the concrete wall.
Thank you, it's okay, it's okay, it's okay, it's okay, it's
(24:13):
okay, it's okay, it's okay.
Will Howard laughing his assoff and he saw the will.
The whole system was bent.
Speaker 2 (24:25):
Yeah, she broke it.
She broke it.
Speaker 3 (24:28):
I mean, poor girl,
she just kind of do her job, get
the players.
She should have put it inreverse a little longer.
Speaker 2 (24:36):
Yeah, she should have
.
Speaker 3 (24:38):
You can't turn those
on a dime.
Speaker 2 (24:41):
Yeah, she said women
drivers back about 25 years.
Speaker 3 (24:46):
Jake from State Farm
just canceled a policy,
absolutely so, stevie, youmentioned it.
I thought this was aninteresting compilation here.
Wall Street Journal made a listof the most valuable college
football programs and there's alot of metrics that went into it
(25:09):
.
The author of this, thevaluation of a program, you know
, success, all levels of revenue, all levels of revenue, whether
it be fanfare, tickets, alcohol, the attraction, the sexiness
of a program.
And this is what they came upwith and put a value on it.
(25:30):
And Ohio State and Texas neckand neck, which is no surprise.
Speaker 2 (25:37):
Right, Neck and neck
Big flagship schools for their
state.
But you know that's a lot ofmoney, man, and so when you look
at that, you got to be okaywith NIL and these kids getting
revenue sharing and things likethat.
(25:59):
So that's all I want to sayabout that.
It's a lot of money, guys.
Speaker 3 (26:07):
I mean, it's kind of
a virtual figure through his
formula.
And, if you know, A&M's not farbehind and you look at all
these SEC schools, so there'sTexas, Georgia, LSU, Tennessee,
A&M, Oklahoma, six of the ten,and Oklahoma will figure it out.
(26:29):
And when I say they're a globalnational brand, they are man.
You recognize that O in you.
All right, Stevie, Jerry Jonesdid it.
He hired somebody, BrianSchottenheimer, part of the
(26:50):
Marty Schottenheimer family tree, literally not coaching tree.
Speaker 2 (26:55):
I love that tree.
Speaker 3 (27:01):
I don't know, man,
I'm going to become fanboy.
And you know me.
The last two years I haveremoved my emotions.
I finally had enough.
I wanted to win, but I'm done.
And this move right here fromthe outside looking in horrible
yeah man, horrible, yeah.
Speaker 2 (27:22):
And what you're
telling everyone is, with this
hire, you just hire within, sohe's probably going to keep the
same coaching staff.
So you didn't really changeanything on your coaching staff.
No, you know what I mean.
Yeah, he's going to probablykeep the same defensive staff.
(27:42):
I just didn't get this move,man.
We got all these people outthere.
Pete Carroll was out there, hegot the job at, yeah, but 73
years old.
Listen and I hear that, but forme he's a young, 73.
(28:06):
He is.
Speaker 3 (28:07):
When we're 73,.
I hope we're as vibrant as heis.
Speaker 2 (28:11):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, but
he can lead a football team.
He's done it on both levels.
Speaker 3 (28:16):
Should have ran the
football that one time.
Speaker 2 (28:18):
He should have.
He should have, but I think helearned his lesson, you know.
So I think that's a great hirefor the Raiders actually, but
you have all these people outthere and you just go and hire
within.
Jerry Jones is one of thosepeople that's just got to get
out of his own way, but he's not, and he explained it that he
(28:40):
bought the team so he can workwith his kids and actually do
the work.
He didn't buy the team.
He bought a job and I get that,it's his money and it's the
work.
He didn't buy the team.
He bought a job and I get that.
It's his money and it's histeam.
He can do whatever he wants todo with it, but we're going to
still talk about it and we'regoing to still be fans and
things like that, but I don'tget this move.
Man, this is mind-boggling tome.
(29:02):
Just all you did was hirewithin and not do a whole.
Nother system change ordirection.
Speaker 3 (29:10):
No, it's a comfort
hire.
Listen.
This is not what we're saying.
What anyone is saying is not ashot at Schottenheimer.
I think he's a rising star or arising prospect as a coach
system.
Now I hope we all eat crow.
But how are you going to changethings if you keep cycling in
(29:37):
what's been there?
That's what any business?
You've got to change yourfabric.
The press conference is Mondaymorning, that's tomorrow.
I don't understand this BS man.
I wish Schottenheimer tons ofsuccess, dallas, wherever he
(29:59):
goes.
Speaker 2 (30:02):
This is a story.
I'm going to keep the names outof this to protect people.
Right, there was a coach at theUniversity of Texas that got
the job and that head coach camein and interviewed a couple of
the coaches that were on staffand the first question that this
(30:24):
head coach asked they said whatdo you think happened?
And that assistant coach lookedat that new head coach and said
if I knew what had happened, well hell, you wouldn't be here.
Right?
You get that.
If I knew, if I know what hadhappened to our team, you
(30:48):
wouldn't be here.
If Schottenheimer knew whathappened to the team last year,
his head coach would still bethere.
You get what I'm saying.
Yep, if Brian could have fixedit last year or this past season
, he would have fixed it.
You know what I'm saying.
(31:09):
And so now we're giving him thehead coaching job to fix
something that he couldn't fixlast year.
Speaker 3 (31:20):
Here's to add to that
just dawned on me.
Yeah, the familiarity and tiesto Dak with him.
They've got too much moneyinvested in Dak and CeeDee Lamb
and you've got Micah Parsonscoming up here soon.
Speaker 2 (31:38):
Mm-hmm.
Speaker 3 (31:39):
Contract.
You've got more.
It's an imbalance in investment.
You have a lot of money on theoffense, Not very much on
defense.
Right, you have a lot of moneyon the offense, Not very much on
defense.
You really don't.
So, in my opinion, I get.
You want familiarity for yourquarterback, who'd help to
develop.
But Dak has shown.
(32:00):
I think Dak, if he's ever fullseason healthy, which is hard
nowadays but he has a trackrecord of suffering some bad
injuries, Significant time.
So you're going to ride withDak.
So are they going to ride withSchottenheimer?
(32:22):
I don't know, man, we're notpaid to make these decisions,
but to me it's just Jerry.
Again, the only two coachesthat he didn't have his thumb on
, Jimmy Johnson and BillParcells.
Speaker 2 (32:41):
And they both did
very well there.
Speaker 3 (32:43):
Did pretty well.
And Mike McCarthy?
It's not a shot at him.
He played the game, but watch, mccarthy will win wherever he
lands.
And on top of that there's likeseven former Cowboy players and
coaches, assistants and playerswho could be playing on Super
(33:07):
Bowl Sunday here in about twoweeks.
Speaker 2 (33:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (33:12):
Speaking of our next
episode, we'll know who's in the
Super Bowl.
Yeah, I'll know that for a fact.
So, mancavers, give us yourthought on X slash Twitter at
Stories.
Mancave, don't hold back.
Do it for Stevie Lee, no filter.
What are your thoughts on this?
(33:32):
It's not a hiring, it's apromotion.
Speaker 2 (33:36):
Promotion yep, that's
all that was.
Speaker 3 (33:39):
What do you want to
tell the man Cave or Stevie Lee
on these thoughts?
Get it out.
We want some well-thought-outresponses.
Speaker 2 (33:47):
Yeah, please Send it
in, man.
I want to well thought outresponses.
Yeah, please Send it in, man.
I want to see it.
People out there are prettycreative.
I want to get a good laugh outof it, man.
I don't know man, I don't haveanything to say anymore.
When it came out, it cameacross my notifications that
(34:13):
they hired Brian and I'm likethis is ridiculous, what's going
on in Dallas, but we can't tellthe man how to spend his money.
Speaker 3 (34:18):
Hey, college-based
basketball season.
We're about to enter where ittruly matters, where teams start
to come together.
Texas has been struggling, butthey've won three of their last
four in the SEC after an 0-3start.
And I'll tell you what peopleare calling for Rodney Terry's
job.
Sec has 13 programs in the top50 of the net rankings and Texas
(34:46):
A&M is really good.
They blew Texas out of thewater in College Station about
two weeks ago and they built upa 22-point lead here in Austin.
But somehow to me, this says alot about a team who can whittle
that away and do this.
He gets a screen from Shedrick, but ignores it, gives it up to
(35:09):
Larry.
Speaker 1 (35:11):
Clock is at seven.
Here's Mark had a game winnerlast year against him Off the
window and in Come on, mark,it's Texas.
Speaker 3 (35:18):
It's first lead of
the game, wade Taylor across
midcourt Off the rim.
Speaker 1 (35:24):
Texas comes from 22
down.
Speaker 3 (35:28):
How about that man
that was Off the rim?
Texas comes from 22 down.
How about that man that was?
Are you hesitant or are youbelieving in this?
That this?
Speaker 2 (35:40):
could be that turning
point for this team.
Oh man, why would you ask methat?
I'm a little hesitant.
Speaker 3 (35:44):
Yeah, I think
everyone is.
I'm a little hesitant.
Speaker 2 (35:45):
Yeah, I think
everyone is.
I'm a little hesitant.
They are good and they're goodin bursts and spurts, but they
got to be more sustainable forme to be all in with this team.
I'm sorry.
Speaker 3 (35:59):
Well, the second
coming I'll call Trey Johnson
phenomenal talent.
He commented afterward he had30 points against A&M and his
game resembles Kevin Durant alot.
Speaker 2 (36:13):
Yeah, for sure I feel
like we're figuring out ways to
win games, and that's reallyall it means is sticking
together and keep defending andtrying to rebound and just the
will to want to win.
I feel like that's what weneeded, and we're starting to
get that and learn how to wingames.
Speaker 3 (36:25):
So it's a process.
You know, basketball is worsethan college football in the
fact that you're changing yourroster often, often every year.
Speaker 1 (36:39):
Portal.
Speaker 3 (36:39):
NIL, it's a different
animal and you have fewer
bodies on that roster.
Speaker 2 (36:44):
Yeah, and you have to
hit the kids hard once they get
on practice or on campus so youcan implement your philosophy
in them.
So it's really tough inbasketball because of the portal
and being one-and-done players.
Speaker 3 (37:04):
Yeah, and Trey is
more than likely a one-and-done.
One-and-done players yeah, andTrey is more than likely a
one-and-done.
Texas 3-4 in the SEC and 14-6overall.
They have faced six teams inthe top 25 here in the past few
weeks.
Speaker 2 (37:19):
Yeah, that's how good
the SEC basketball is, man.
Speaker 3 (37:23):
And the Big 12 was
that.
Speaker 2 (37:25):
Yeah, yeah.
And what did you say?
13 teams in the top 50?
.
Speaker 3 (37:32):
Other than that, yep.
Speaker 2 (37:34):
Yeah, and just right
here in the SEC.
So we have some healthy, healthy opponents, but we got to
compete.
We still got to compete.
Speaker 3 (37:47):
You got to fight and
you got to finish games, but
that showed a lot.
And they've had some closegames, like against Auburn and
Tennessee, which you know.
Auburn, tennessee two of thetop four teams in the country.
Look what's coming up thisWednesday.
Texas faces their former headcoach at Ole Miss on Wednesday.
Speaker 2 (38:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (38:12):
What are you
expecting to see?
And it's not in Austin, butwhat do you expect to see in
Oxford, wednesday?
Speaker 2 (38:21):
I don't know who's
going to win or lose, but I
think that Chris and Rodney havemuch respect for each other.
Chris hired Rodney on his staff.
I think that they're going tohug it out at center court 100%
they will 100% they will.
But man, I don't know.
Chris is a hell of a coach man.
He's a hell of a coach andthat's why we had him, and
(38:43):
that's why we pulled him fromTexas Tech.
You know so.
But you know, I don't know whattalent he has over there at Ole
Miss.
But I don't know, man, I don'tknow if we can pull this one out
.
Speaker 3 (38:56):
It's going to be
tough.
I think everyone involved inthe UT leadership, including
Chris Del Conte.
I think I saw a picture duringthe SEC media days for
basketball, those two talking toeach other, which is a good
sign to see hey coming up insegment two.
This is if you and I have.
It's inevitable we're going toage to where we probably need a
(39:19):
little assistance in aretirement home and hopefully
neither one of us have to gothat route.
But why not sing karaoke andhave pops, have beverages, that
rap?
But why not sing karaoke andhave pops, have beverages?
We got a guy who's retired, waypast retired, and he is not
afraid to do a solo with a SnoopDogg favorite, stevie Lee.
(39:41):
It's from 1993.
Stick around, good fun andhumor.
We'll come back after thesemessages from Hargrove Roofing
and the Boulevard.
Speaker 1 (39:54):
Here at Hargrove
Roofing we try to think outside
the box, to kind of get thecreative juices flowing.
So I brought in my friendStevie Lee, former defensive
tackle for the Texas Longhorns.
He's going to help the teamstrategize, really motivate them
.
Light a fire.
Speaker 2 (40:08):
This guy's going to
block down.
This guy's going to help theteam strategize, really motivate
them, light a fire.
This guy's going to block down.
This guy's going to block down.
You put your butt into theguard and that way my Mike
linebacker gets free to do what.
Speaker 1 (40:18):
Not only are they
going to learn a thing or two,
but they're going to also leavewith a great attitude and a
bunch of smiles on their faces.
Speaker 3 (40:25):
I'm sorry.
What does this have to do withroofing exactly?
Speaker 2 (40:32):
Get out Right now.
Speaker 1 (40:33):
I said get out.
For me, that's what it's allabout.
It's just having fun making ouremployees have a great time.
Hard Grove Roofing Know who'son your roof.
Speaker 3 (40:50):
The Bully is a cozy
Austin original bar and grill
that feels like home.
Boulevard Bar and Grill, nestled into this Northwest
Hills strip mall, recentlycelebrated two decades.
The drink prices are like goingback to 2004.
It's where familiar facesgather and everyone knows your
name.
The Bully family are alsofriends of the stories inside
the man cave podcast.

(41:32):

You know what I'll get me asong going.

(42:14):

Laid back.
Mind on my money, let's go.
Mind on my money, money on mymind.
Speaker 3 (42:30):
Let's go.
Let's do it, that's fun, stevie, real quick man, you got a
little pro tip, for I do have apro tip, man.
Speaker 2 (42:46):
Last night I went to
dinner with one of my old
teammates and his significantother and my significant other
and we went to dinner.
But after dinner we wanted togo and just listen to some music
.
Nothing blaring at us, but wecould sit down and just have a
conversation and talk.
And we found a place.
It's called Retail Therapy.
(43:07):
I've heard of it, yeah, retailTherapy.
I've heard of it, retailTherapy, and actually a friend
of my own, the place.
It's really good music, oldschool hip hop type place.
It's like a cold, dark bar.
You don't have to go to the barto get your drinks, you can
have someone bring you drinks.
They have waitresses that comeby your table.
(43:28):
It's no food or anything, whichis fine, but you just want to
just hang out and chill withsome friends and actually have
conversation.
And that's exactly what we did, probably three hours there and
the waitress kept our drinksfull and we were just happy and
just catching up with each otherman.
So retail therapy, go checkthat out.
(43:49):
In downtown Austin I think it's7th and Colorado is the street
corner Right there, across thestreet from the Omni.
Speaker 3 (43:59):
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah,
I know exactly where it's at.
Speaker 1 (44:01):
I actually have a
famous time.
Speaker 3 (44:03):
There's an
underground jazz club that's
been there forever.
No, they took over that space.
Speaker 2 (44:09):
No, they took over
that space.
I believe they took over thatspace right.
Speaker 3 (44:12):
I cannot remember.
We're going to make a board.
We'll take the background offjust for this segment and we'll
get a little sponsor.
I want to have a backgroundright here for Stevie's, all his
pro tips, a dry erase boardright here.
No question, that'd be fun,we'll do that Maybe Hargrove,
We'll get some more NIL moneyfrom them for that, no question.
(44:33):

Speaker 3 (46:12):
Stevie Lee, A little
cold damp Playoff football.
Football season's almost overwith.
Tell me something good, mybrother.
Speaker 2 (46:21):

So, man, sit back, relax, youguys.
Um, get your favorite wings andsnacks and get ready for some
good football.
The bad part about all this isfootball is going to be over,
and then there's a dead periodwhere we don't have nothing to
(47:16):
do and trying to figure outthings.
I think I'm going to use thattime to actually get some work
around the house done.
Speaker 3 (47:22):
About damn time you
did that.
Speaker 2 (47:24):
Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 3 (47:26):
Exactly.
I'll play off that man.
Man, I'll tell you somethinggood, hey, embrace it.
Football, especially collegefootball, is year-round.
Now it really is.
We're entering the season it'suh for, especially for college,
all levels, um, the portalseason and the portal season
some of the guys have alreadyhave new homes and then the
second recruiting cycle, whichreally doesn't pertain to the
(47:50):
power four.
They've already signed prettymuch everybody that they're
going to, exception of theportal folks.
But embrace it, have fun, follow it.
One thing personally that Iwant everybody to do know your
worth, know your value and knowthe power of your voice.
(48:12):
And what I mean by that is speakup for what you want and in
this time of political changesomething that took me decades
to learn don't worry about it.
Control what you can control.
Don't allow any of this tocontrol your emotions.
Speaker 2 (48:34):
Yeah, that's good,
that's good man.
Speaker 3 (48:38):
It took me a long
time to learn that.
Quit worrying about it.
Let's go, let's go.
Life's too short to worry aboutsomething we really have no
control over.
Absolutely Live, make it happy.
Much love my man, great episode.
