Hey, listen, mia Scott.
She plays the hot corner forthe Longhorns from down in the
Brazoria County area, angleton, which has produced some great
Longhorns, by the way.
Critton Jammer, yeah, and hislittle brother play DB, but Mia
(02:33):
Scott unbelievable, she did this, but I didn't know, I had no
clue that her boyfriend is acertain Texas.
Running back Scott smashes thatdeep center field.
Mia Scott, grand Slam Texas inGame 3 of the Finals and CJ he's
(03:10):
almost 100%.
As we all know, he was injuredlast year very early.
Didn't get to see him play lastyear.
But wow, I love that there wasa big, big presence up in
Oklahoma City at Devon Field.
A lot of Texas athletes, student athletes, supporting
these young ladies.
Speaker 3 (03:29):
Yeah, that's good
stuff, man.
I love to see theinterminglings of Texas
athletics Because I have reallygood friends from different
sports to this day that playdifferent sports that play
different sports and so I loveseeing that you know the dating
and just friendships from othersports across different sports.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
Man, it's passion
buddy.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
And Mia.
Speaker 2 (03:54):
Scott, you know the
rap artist from the early 2000s.
While you were in school atTexas you were a young fella a
little flips game over.
A little flip Game over, gameover.
When we hit that that's what Ithought, man.
They almost run ruled that game.
Speaker 3 (04:17):
In the championship
game.
It's crazy.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
Texas Tech shout out
to them First year to ever go.
They're doing what everyoneelse is doing.
They've invested in NIL andplucking the portal if you will.
But, stevie man, let's get thisthing going.
Man, are you ready?
It has been too long and we'vegot a lot to talk about.
What do you say?
We roll this bad boy.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
Let's roll, let's
roll, let's ride, get it, get it
, get it, get it.
Speaker 2 (05:24):
Stevie, I thought the
only negative piece to this
national championship run wasthat I thought the ladies could
have done a much better job.
I thought the dog pile got a C-.
Speaker 3 (05:38):
I don't think they
knew how to do that man.
Speaker 2 (05:41):
It happened.
It was slow motion.
Love these girls, man I have.
I love women's sport.
I love women's basketball.
I've always loved softball it'sfun, fast paced, and volleyball
.
I got to give a shout out toyour daughters.
Speaker 3 (05:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
And your oldest
daughter.
Who is?
You moved her in, I believe, upin Kansas City.
Speaker 3 (06:02):
Or we did orientation
, we did orientation.
Speaker 2 (06:04):
Orientation You're
orientating.
Speaker 3 (06:14):
But that dog pile.
That's the only negative aboutthis entire season, if you're
going to nitpick.
I was disappointed.
Yeah, they need to work on it alittle bit, but they'll be fine
.
Let's try it again next year.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
Yeah, let's pull off
an OU Dynasty.
Hey, OU, that was a great run.
Speaker 3 (06:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
Seven out of nine
years, like since 2012, I
believe they played in ninenational championship series.
Speaker 3 (06:45):
Oh sorry, excuse me,
sorry, excuse me.
Yeah, thank you.
No, it's, they have had a runman, and it was surprising that
they got knocked out so earlythis year.
Speaker 2 (06:55):
In the semifinals,
right Against Texas Tech.
Speaker 5 (06:58):
Texas Tech.
Speaker 3 (06:59):
Yeah, but you know
they'll come back on fire next
year too, man, because you knowyou just can't stop a dynasty
like that.
One year They'll be back around.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
OU, patty Gasso and
the Sooners.
They'll be back.
Speaker 3 (07:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
If you have not had
an opportunity, I received the
specs of it when they were aboutto break ground for it two or
three years ago.
Their new stadium Absolutelystunning, the best stadium in
America.
And then, of course, whatthey've done in Oklahoma City.
I will say the All SportsAssociation in Oklahoma City has
done a fantastic job the last30, 40 years of investing in the
(07:35):
Women's College World Seriesand, of course, sports in OKC.
If you've not been, if younever just have really made it a
point to go to OKC.
It is a thriving, amazingcommunity.
Sports, family entertainmentand, I needless to say, I would
go ahead and say their livemusic there is much better than
it is in Austin currently.
Austin once owned it.
(07:57):
Austin's not what it used to be, but that's a whole other
podcast, a whole other story.
All right.
Before we move forward, stevie, give a shout to our hard grow
family based out of Shreveport.
They migrated West into Texasand they are starting to own
this market here in the centralTexas Austin area.
Our grows man, they have beenbusy lately.
(08:18):
We've had a tremendous amountof thunderstorms lately.
Large hell Recently.
I was without power for twodays.
It was not fun.
But Stevie, the best marketingguy for Hargrove Roofing, take
it away, big fella.
Hargrove Roofing know who's onyour roof 100%, and we know
(08:41):
they're busy right now, man.
Speaker 3 (08:42):
They are.
I talked to Coach and he's outthere.
Man, he's busy right now.
Speaker 2 (08:47):
He woke up.
sexy again too, there's no doubt, no doubt, this softball first
national championship, andthey've been rolling since 1994,
something like that 93, 94, 95.
It's hard to believe Texas, every now and then, would make
the College World Series.
(09:08):
They haven't been a dominantprogram that you would think
Texas would be.
But here, the three of the lastfour years, not only did they
make it to OKC, they played inthe National Championship Series
and now they won it, and that'swith Mike White, the head coach
, who was a men's fast pitchsoftball legend himself.
Speaker 3 (09:30):
Hmm, yeah, that's.
That's good man.
I saw his interview.
He's from New Zealand.
Speaker 6 (09:37):
Right.
Speaker 3 (09:38):
Yeah, that was pretty
cool to hear him talking his
accent and then bringing theclub to the dugout from his
culture and the girls is justembracing it.
Man, it's pretty cool.
It's a pretty neat team andfeeling that they have going on
over there.
Speaker 2 (09:56):
Well, he's been to
the College World Series eight
times, when he was at Oregon, yeah, and this was his first
time to win it.
First time to win it and tocelebrate, I think.
Now the second worst part, other than the dog pile, was the
Gatorade bath.
I thought the Gatorade bath waspretty solid, but Mike White's
(10:17):
reaction was awkwardly delayedand I'm joking with the
criticism, but you be the judge.
This could have been a littlebit.
This was different, this magicmoment, so different and so new.
What's lacking in the other?
(10:38):
It took him about that was slowmode.
Love the song, but it was agood.
Two and a half to three secondsbefore he goes, ah, the
frigidness.
Speaker 3 (10:53):
Well, let me ask you
this have you had cold ice water
dumped on your body whileyou're sweating and hot?
Speaker 2 (11:00):
Yes on the ice bucket
challenge about eight years ago
.
Speaker 3 (11:05):
Well, it can take
your breath away.
So you need a second to catchyour breath and then you
celebrate, I feel where he'sgoing, because I've had that
happen.
Speaker 2 (11:14):
Of course we're
joking, but in all seriousness,
stevie, this was Coach and theKey Longhorn.
There's so many and a lot ofthese girls return and they have
an opportunity.
It's so hard to win it Even askPatty Guesso Even though
they've won so many, it's hard,it's hard to go back, it's hard
(11:37):
to keep doing it, because thepopularity of this sport I mean
it has migrated.
When it was once dominant inCalifornia, arizona, and then OU
popped into the scene in 2000.
And now, man, you've got theSEC, you've got Florida, who has
won it, and now it's becomingmore.
(11:59):
The ratings for that game two,our game one against Tech 2.1
million viewers, wow.
But when you look back at themwinning it and the reaction
after the game, I think thissays it all.
Speaker 6 (12:15):
And the team that
Jerry Glasgow has put together
is, you know, first class.
Heck, first time as a headcoach making it to the College
World Series I don't know, man, that's pretty awesome.
So it took me eight times tofinally.
I've been to the World Serieseight times, finally won one.
It's kind of surreal right now,but thank you to all these
ladies, the seniors, especiallyfor their contribution to the
(12:37):
program.
We talked about leaving thejersey in a better place, and
they've certainly left thejersey in a better place, and
Texas softball is better forthem, having been part of this
program, and we can't wait tostart again next year.
Speaker 1 (12:48):
Without Coach White,
I don't know if we're here.
He's the best.
He is so competitive.
He wants it just as bad as wedo, of course, and he pushes us
to be better every day, and sohe makes me a better pitcher,
mentally and physically.
And so there's no one else I'drather play for.
So there's no one else I'drather play for.
Speaker 4 (13:02):
He's a bomb and I'm
glad we got it done for him and
I think you know, vanessa, sophia and Mia, we were all
together that first year and youknow, losing to OU in that
first series and then again lastyear, just you know, we didn't
want to go out like that thistime, so we fought as hard as we
could, no matter what our rolewas, and I think we are all just
so happy.
Speaker 1 (13:21):
This team has been
through a lot and for them and
all of us to just go out thereand do our thing is what's most
important, and I love this teamwith every bit of me.
Speaker 2 (13:30):
Love it, love it.
Stevie.
You've been around great teams, you were on great teams and
then Longhorns, your footballprogram, won the national
championship a year after youreligibility, but immediately
afterwards, even when y'all wonthat Rose Bowl against Michigan.
Can you really just formulateor be able to articulate how you
(13:54):
really feel?
Because they're on a podium Iknow they're excited.
It doesn't set in.
How long does it take to set inbefore you can really really
really process what justhappened?
Speaker 3 (14:04):
Well, when I was
playing in the Rose Bowl, take
to set in before you can reallyreally really process what just
happened.
Well, um, when I was playing inthe rose bowl, uh against, uh,
michigan, yep, um, you know, thewhole week you're like this is,
this is a big rose bowl game.
I mean we't in a nationalchampionship game, but it's the
Rose Bowl and it's thegranddaddy of them all, and and
(14:28):
so we had the fanfare before.
But then we got to the stadiumit felt like just playing a
football game.
It's between the lines and youplay a football game and then
after the game you feel happyand things like that.
But on my way home, probablythree days later, is when I
really realized, man, we won aRose Bowl, we won the granddaddy
(14:49):
of them all.
Speaker 2 (14:51):
In a classic game too
.
Speaker 3 (14:53):
Classic, very close
game, as I was going to say, in
a close game, and no one cantake that away from me.
I played in that game, I was acontributing factor in that game
and I had a great time and funplaying in that game.
I was a contributing factor inthat game and I had a great time
and fun playing in that game.
And then my girlfriend being onthe sideline, who became my
wife, being on the sideline andwe were hugging and celebrating
(15:16):
together at the end of that game, which put a bow on not only my
college career but my career asa whole.
That was the last time I put ona helmet and pads right.
And so that right there made iteven more special three days
after I played the game.
You know so it was, and they maynot even be feeling it right
(15:38):
now, but they will as the daysand weeks go on, and they'll
never be forgotten, especiallyin this city, in this city, when
you win a national championshipat the University of Texas.
I didn't even win one, buteveryone still remembers and
remembers what we did at theRose Bowl.
(16:00):
You know so you won a nationalchampionship at the University
of Texas, this town.
You're cemented in the historyof this town.
Right now, legacy, yeah, legacyfor sure.
Speaker 2 (16:12):
So that and some will
argue that if you guys didn't,
would not have beaten Michiganlet's just say that your win in
that Rose Bowl propelled thenext year's team to do what they
did.
Speaker 3 (16:28):
That's what they say,
man.
But you know, they had this guynamed Vince Young yeah, he was
hey, if we don't want to giveMichigan or not, he was going
back, yeah, and catching thatnational championship.
And they had the biggest andbaddest team in front of them,
espn.
Usc thought that ESPN thoughtthe USC could beat NFL teams.
(16:53):
They weren't even worried aboutTexas.
It was just a done deal thatUSC was going to beat Texas.
Speaker 2 (16:58):
I remember a whole
year they were saying that.
Speaker 3 (17:00):
A whole year and then
that couple of weeks leading up
to the national championshipgame, it was like it was usc's
game to lose.
It wasn't texas game to do this, this, this, to try to win, it
was usc's game to lose.
They had everybody on that team, everybody coming back and and
um uh, vince young said you knowwhat, hold my beer and showed
(17:25):
us all.
And he's cemented in this town, man, he can go anywhere he
wants to go in this town.
He can go use the governor'sbathroom if he wants to and kick
the governor out.
Speaker 2 (17:37):
He can wear a Speedo
and not get arrested.
No, question I don't think youcan get arrested if you wear a
Speedo.
Yeah, leslie, did it.
Speaker 3 (17:43):
I don't think you can
get arrested if you wear a
Speedo.
Speaker 2 (17:45):
Yeah, leslie did it.
Yeah, hell, I did it.
Hey, you know what I think, though?
This is funny If you notice, wherever Senator Ted Cruz goes
sporting event that home teamloses Like Aggies are beside
themselves.
Every time that he shows up,they lose, and I think Texas I
(18:07):
forgot what event it was heshowed up Longhorns lost, and
then, I think, the Astros lostthe World Series.
He showed up.
Well, ted Cruz did not show upto the Women's College World
Series, and that's one keyfactor in the Longhorns winning,
and I love this tweet righthere.
Speaker 3 (18:32):
Oh man, I like this
guy, texas born, socal living, I
like it.
Speaker 2 (18:38):
Texas X and CA.
Hey, god bless those in LA andCalifornia right now National
champions, god.
The athletic department in LAand California right now
National champions, god.
The athletic department at UTis rolling, as is Billy Dell's
Texas Legacy Support Network.
We are partners with BillyDell's Texas Legacy Support
Network.
(18:58):
They are organizing their firstever golf tournament coming up
this fall.
I will be emceeing that dinnerlater this fall and we're going
to continue to have guests thattell the story about the mission
of the Texas Legacy SupportNetwork.
Some that you know, stevie, really well, some who are just
(19:22):
iconic individuals in my mindthat once you meet them here on
this podcast, you will know whyif you don't know them now.
I want to keep them a surprise, because the people I'm lining
up are individuals who, from ahistorical perspective, mean a
lot I look up to and once youhear their story you'll be
(19:45):
inspired.
And some of them broke thecolor barrier in many ways with
UT in many ways.
And for that sport, yeah, period, all right.
College baseball, sweet 16 istaking place.
It has been all weekend and bythis time tomorrow, maybe Monday
(20:07):
night at the latest, we'll havethe field of eight in Omaha.
And the reason why we're notgoing to talk much about the
field, because there's stillgame twos and game threes taking
place.
This is the field that we'retalking about in the Super
Regionals.
How about Coastal CarolinaKnocked out Auburn?
(20:28):
At Auburn, their head coach wasan assistant when the
Chanticleers a mid-major made itto Omaha in 2016,.
A great program, and they wonit all in 2016.
Well, their head coach, kevinSnell, talked about they
couldn't bring their son, who Ithink was in the third grade
(20:50):
then, because he had hadmultiple strokes, and he talked
about how emotional he was afterthe Chanticleers eliminated
Auburn.
You can tell he's emotional.
This is a true mid-major, but amid-major baseball power.
The emotional snarl aftereliminating Auburn.
Speaker 7 (21:11):
In the fall our son
had a stroke and he ended up
having five more strokes andwhen we went to Omaha he was in
the third grade and he was youngand he had a rough year and he
decided or we decided as afamily that our kids were going
(21:32):
to stay back.
And he's doing great now.
He's flourishing, he's afreshman in high school and
we've been talking for years.
If we ever go back, he's coming, they're coming and these guys
have awarded him thatopportunity.
Speaker 2 (21:52):
That's beautiful.
Speaker 3 (21:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (21:55):
That is destiny.
Speaker 3 (21:57):
Yeah, I've never
heard of kids having strokes
that young.
But that's tough but that'sawesome that he gets to go to
the world series with the team.
Speaker 2 (22:07):
I absolutely love
this.
That's the stories that aregreat about college baseball and
college sports or sports ingeneral, but college baseball
where the little guy truly hasan opportunity year in and year
(22:29):
out all the time.
Speaker 8 (22:31):
It was a little bit
of irresponsible reporting,
right it was.
One anonymous source said thatthat's what our roster was.
I wish I had $40 million on ourroster.
We'd probably be a little bitbetter team than we are.
But you know the idea to thinkthat a lot of other schools
aren't spending money to getplayers.
I mean the idea to think that alot of other schools aren't
spending money to get players.
I mean it's the state ofcollege football right now.
It is what it is.
And hey, we're fortunate, don'tget me wrong.
(22:52):
We've got great support.
Chris Delcani, our athleticdirector, does a fantastic job
on our donors and hey, peopleare excited.
And we've been to the CFP twoyears in a row and we've had
shoot I don't know 20-somethingguys draft the last two years.
So it's been great.
It's been a great run.
I wish I had about another $15million or so, though I might
have a little better roster youget two or three fullbacks for
(23:14):
$15 million.
What's crazy about this day andage that you guys operate in and
I've watched this for 25 yearsnow this whole like the
evolution of twitter and socialmedia and podcast.
One guy writes an article froman anonymous source that says
that's what our, that's what ourroster is.
Speaker 2 (23:33):
Everybody ramming it
and I'm talking real
publications so, steve, youremember I questioned that,
those valuations I was there'sno way.
There's just no way.
That's not true.
But he's not wrong.
We're in a world whereeveryone's a reporter and
(23:55):
anonymous folks saying this andthat and running with it.
Speaker 3 (24:02):
But it's the world we
live in.
And I hear you, sean, I'm goingto play devil's advocate a
little bit.
Just a little bit, did he?
Speaker 2 (24:12):
emphatically say no
to that question.
You're not wrong, but he wentout of his way to say that's not
true, okay, all right.
Speaker 3 (24:27):
I think the only
question is who's the advocate?
Speaker 2 (24:30):
Well, no, no, no.
That's great, we don't need toagree on everything, but there's
no way, man, I mean $25 million, I could see.
Speaker 3 (24:40):
Okay, All right.
So the other part of that isthe story says Texas spent $40
million on the roster.
Texas may not have spent$40,000 on the roster.
The other NIL deals may havekicked in.
(25:02):
It could be a $40 millionroster but Texas didn't spend
all the deals may have kicked init could be a $40 million
roster.
Texas didn't spend all the $40million.
Speaker 2 (25:11):
No school can spend
that.
Collectors, I may be wrong, butmy understanding is you can
recruit through certain vagueinformation about your NIL
valuations, the value, and oh, Igot a thumbs up, when did that
(25:34):
come from?
Speaker 3 (25:35):
I don't know man Did
you do that.
I did not.
Speaker 2 (25:40):
No, I got a thumbs up
, so my deal is you have a
budget that you have to recruitto, yeah, but I just don't agree
.
There's no way.
Maybe 10 years from now it willbe $40 million.
Speaker 3 (25:59):
Well, let's put it
this way though Sean how many
people are on the roster?
Speaker 2 (26:04):
Well, as of right now
, you can have 85 scholarships.
That's going to expand to 105.
Speaker 3 (26:13):
Okay, we do know that
Arch is what A $3 million guy.
Speaker 2 (26:21):
We don't know
anything.
Speaker 3 (26:23):
We don't.
Speaker 2 (26:24):
We don't, i't know
anything.
We don't, we don't.
Where are you getting it?
I want to see the informationall right.
Speaker 3 (26:29):
So you want hard,
concrete information.
So you're playing, put yourreporter hat on and you need to
see concrete information I don't.
Speaker 2 (26:35):
I guess that's what
the whole point of this, what
like what he was talking aboutyeah, okay, yeah, yeah, you're
right, you're right, yeah, so Iget what you're saying.
Speaker 3 (26:44):
but if we actually on
the outside looking in and I do
know I have an anonymous sourcethat we have six legitimate
millionaires on our team, that'ssix.
And if you just want to say $1million, that's $6 million right
there, just with six players, and we do know that one or two
(27:07):
of those players aremultimillion dollars.
Okay, right, so we're lookingat take those six out, then
we're looking at about $30million for the rest of the
roster.
I can actually see that Wellthis was a big deal.
Speaker 2 (27:22):
The House settlement
went through and so it's been a
big topic.
We're not going to go throughall of it because we'd be here
first.
We could do a whole episode onthis, absolutely, but here's the
bullet point.
The revenue sharingstudent-athletes will begin next
month.
The NCAA will spend nearly $3billion over the next 10 years
(27:47):
in back damages to athletesstudent athletes from 2016 to
now.
Speaker 3 (27:55):
What makes them say
why did they stop at 10 years?
Why didn't they go to 20 years?
Speaker 2 (27:59):
That's something I
don't know.
I know it has to do with thatvideo game and the likeness.
Speaker 3 (28:08):
Man I was trying to
get some money.
Man, I was trying to get backpaid because I was on the game I
didn't see anything you knowy'all need to speak up my, my,
it wasn't my name, but it was myimage and likeness that's what
I'm talking about.
Speaker 2 (28:23):
Yeah, that's exactly
what I'm talking about.
Speaker 3 (28:26):
I need some back pay
as well, but I finished playing
in 2004-2005 season.
Speaker 2 (28:33):
That's about 10 years
.
Speaker 3 (28:35):
Yeah, I told my mom.
I called her one day.
I was like you had me 20 yearstoo early.
I'd have come out of collegewith a couple hundred grand in
my pocket and I'd have been fine.
It's neither here nor there.
I do still enjoy my time atTexas.
I feel it a little bit.
(28:57):
I'm happy that these guys aregetting what they got.
But what about the old guysthat still?
I got back elements.
Speaker 2 (29:04):
Just give me free
health care for life yeah, laid
the foundation, yeah, um, so thereason why I say the cap, it's
essentially a salary cap.
It'll begin at 20.5 million.
What the reason why I saybegins?
Because it could increase everyyear.
That's where.
(29:25):
And then programs have to optin with sports and you've got to
take into consideration TitleIX, everything, everything.
So, then here's what I like.
Here's the part that, if I hadmore information, I could
support this point.
The schools now can createrules to limit boosters and NIL
(29:48):
collectives basically managingall of it, which is good.
Speaker 3 (29:54):
Yeah, the schools can
manage all of it.
Speaker 2 (29:58):
Yeah for the most.
Create rules in place.
Speaker 4 (30:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (30:02):
Yeah, okay.
Well, still, though, the topschools that can pull in the
most money are going to manageit differently from the second
to third tier schools.
Speaker 2 (30:16):
Right, but the
revenue sharing now is where the
majority of the money will bedistributed NIL.
In my opinion, because of this, nil will take a backseat to
revenue sharing, but you canstill receive NIL money if
(30:36):
you're marketing or representinga brand or a product or a group
Period.
That's not going anywhere,gotcha, but I think it's
interesting.
I think we're evolving.
We really are.
It couldn't stay the same way.
So good on the victory for thegovernment.
(30:56):
And all these court cases, everything Cornering the NCAA.
Ncaa had to meet them in themiddle, or a little more.
Speaker 3 (31:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (31:11):
And they got it done
Got it done Got it done.
So here we go.
It's going to be a new age andfor those who are my age and
you're whining about it, notstay off my lawn.
Type man, evolve, evolve.
Speaker 4 (31:24):
This is what it is.
Speaker 2 (31:25):
This has nothing to
do with you, me, anybody.
What does it matter?
You don't have to donate to it.
Yeah, I mean, I don't.
I mean, hey, I get it.
Donor fatigue's real.
Speaker 3 (31:38):
Yeah, coach.
Speaker 2 (31:41):
Mack Brown talked to
us about that.
How about we end the firstsegment with some humor?
Let's do it.
I like it.
You know, men, we like to whipit out every now and then.
Speaker 4 (31:53):
Put your wiener up
right now.
We don't run around with ourwiener out.
Speaker 1 (31:56):
Yeah, we do?
Speaker 2 (31:58):
We do run around with
our wieners out and you would
know that if you were a boy.
Speaker 9 (32:01):
but you don't know
that because you're a girl, but
we run around with our wienersout all the time actually 100%,
100%, well, not 100%, probably40%.
Speaker 3 (32:16):
I got a feeling that
you are winning the pool with it
right now.
Speaker 2 (32:20):
No, I've got shorts
over the box.
But truth be told, stevie, Isay at least one of our episodes
a month.
There's just boxers and a shirt.
Speaker 8 (32:32):
I'm sure.
Speaker 2 (32:33):
I'm sure I'm sorry to
the lovely viewer you can't
unsee that now.
Oh God, hey, let's take a quickbreak and hear from our folks
at Hargrove, and we're going totalk about NBA finals and we're
(32:53):
going to pay tribute to thosewho stormed the beaches of
Normandy, on Omaha Beach, in1944.
That generation, that group, the survivors are dwindling fast
, yeah, and we need to payhomage to them.
We'll catch you on the otherside of this break.
Speaker 9 (33:14):
Here at Hardcore
Roofing we try to think outside
the box to kind of get thecreative juices flowing.
So I brought in my friendStevie Lee, former defensive
tackle for the Texas Longhorns.
He's going to help the teamstrategize, really motivate them
.
Light a fire.
Speaker 3 (33:27):
This guy's going
gonna block down.
This guy's gonna block down you.
Speaker 9 (33:31):
Put your butt into
the guard and that way my Mike
linebacker gets free to do whatnot only they're gonna learn a
thing or two, but they're gonnaalso leave with a great attitude
and a bunch of smiles on theirfaces.
Speaker 5 (33:45):
I'm sorry.
What does this have to do withroofing exactly?
Get out Right now.
Speaker 9 (33:53):
I said get out For me
.
That's what it's all about.
Speaker 4 (34:07):
It's just having fun
making our employees have a
great time Hargrove Roofing Knowwho's on your roof.
Speaker 2 (34:31):
Let's go, come on,
I'm not biased, not biased at
all, not biased.
Speaker 3 (34:42):
That's going to be
fun tonight, man.
I thought OKC had this thing inthe bag, man.
Speaker 6 (34:47):
Oh it's heartbreaking
, halliburton.
Speaker 3 (34:49):
He did what he do,
man.
I thought OKC had this thing inthe bag, man.
Oh, it's heartbreaking,halliburton.
He did what he do, man.
They need to get up by a lotand then stay on the gas, man.
Don't let up at all.
The Pacers did that to New York.
They did that to.
Who else did they play the lastseries?
That was New York right York.
They did that to who else didthey play the last series?
(35:10):
That was New York right.
Speaker 2 (35:11):
That was New York and
the Eastern Finals.
Speaker 3 (35:13):
Oh, the Cavs.
They did it to the Cavs, yeah, and they did it in this series,
but I was rooting for him.
Alex Caruso, a Texas boy, notUniversity of Texas, the state
of Texas boy.
He's an Aggie, but also he's anAggie, but also he's a good guy
.
I know him personally.
Speaker 2 (35:33):
He's a great guy.
Speaker 3 (35:35):
I was really happy to
see him playing very, very well
and had a really good defensivegame, but just came up a little
bit short at the end, man.
But it was a fun, fun game towatch and I can't wait to watch
tonight.
Speaker 2 (35:49):
Well, thunder coach,
mark Dagnall, they're a group
just like the Spurs.
That's where their GM, samPresti, learned from.
They're very businesslike, they're not going to reveal much
and you know I was in thatThunder locker room and all
these for six, five years andit's very guarded, very
(36:12):
protected, but it's worked.
And Dagnall talked about, because you know, when they
played Denver, the same thinghappened.
They lost game one.
They responded by winning bydouble digits in game two and
this is what he talks about.
Is game one any any have anyinfluence on tonight?
Speaker 1 (36:35):
You don't want to be
reactive to the last game,
because then you can be too highafter wins, you can be too low
after losses.
We just get ourselves toneutral, understand every game's
different.
Every game is unwritten.
Unwritten Love it, it's kind ofcliche but he's not wrong.
Speaker 2 (36:47):
Every game is
unwritten.
Unwritten.
Love it.
It's kind of cliche, but he'snot wrong.
Speaker 3 (36:51):
He's not wrong,
absolutely.
You don't get emotionally onthis emotional roller coaster
from game to game, you just play, even kill.
You watch film on the last gameand shut the lights off on that
last game and then you moveforward and so he has the right
mindset.
So I can't wait to see whathappens.
Speaker 2 (37:12):
Okay, see, okay, see
there you go baby, let's mf and
go I love this team, I love thatcity yeah I love that arena.
I love those people.
It's a great NBA city.
Speaker 3 (37:28):
Yep, I spent a night
in OKC and I was hanging out at
my hotel and it was a realvibrant hotel.
People were coming in and outand having a good time and
talking to everyone.
I actually like it up there, man, Other than that school
that's over there, I don't likeit.
Speaker 2 (37:42):
That's south of town.
Speaker 3 (37:44):
Yeah, that's south in
Norman right, but OKC, I really
enjoyed myself there.
Speaker 2 (37:49):
I love it.
And you know what else I love.
I love the people and themultiple generations who on.
I know we are on June 8th today, d-day when the United States
forces collaborated with theallied forces and nations to end
the dominant, the rule ofHitler and Nazis.
(38:13):
Nazi occupation stormed thebeaches of France, normandy,
omaha.
Thousands upon thousands ofallied forces lost their lives.
Yeah, and there are survivorstoday.
And when you hear this story, Imean they're reaching a century
(38:36):
old.
So this is the stories insidethe man Cave Tribute Listening
to this inspiring gentleman whowas one of those who stormed the
beaches of Normandy.
Who was one of those whostormed the beaches of Normandy.
Speaker 5 (38:48):
The craziest thing is
I'm sitting here talking to you
about my experience.
I am the only one left out ofall those guys I was with.
They've all gone on.
This can't last forever.
(39:08):
In less than two months I'mgoing to be 101.
I don't have an ache or a painin my body.
I'm blessed.
I truly am blessed.
Speaker 2 (39:22):
Stevie, we're blessed
because of them.
And for those who are just notreally sure, if we did not do
that, we don't know where we'llbe right now.
Speaker 3 (39:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (39:35):
We'd be under a
different rule.
Speaker 3 (39:36):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (39:37):
A dictator.
You and I, black and white, wemay not be unified like we are,
we wouldn't be brothers.
Maybe we are, I wouldn't, Iwouldn't.
We wouldn't be brothers maybe.
Speaker 3 (39:50):
Yeah, no question
it's.
It's a tribute to the men thatdid storm the beach on changing
the world.
They didn't they change.
I mean, you know, they puttheir lives down to change the
world and they did so.
When you think about it, youdon't know where we would be
right now, but it wouldn't belike it is.
No, wouldn't be like it isright now.
(40:11):
So they changed the world, forsure I'm, I'm grateful.
Speaker 2 (40:14):
I'm grateful that you
and I have been provided the
life and that you and I areconnected yeah, our group's
connected that you and I see theworld and it can go back to you
and I see the world and it cango back to yeah, that, yeah, hey

They're not much older than us.
(40:35):

Speaker 5 (40:47):
Now that I see it
very interesting.
Speaker 7 (40:51):

Is it bothering you?
I'm dusting my wine bottlesLike that.

Speaker 5 (40:59):

Speaker 3 (41:12):
You, would you filthy

Why does she call him thefilthy bastard when?
Speaker 2 (41:17):
she's the one that

I've never seen anybody strokethe neck of a wine bottle that
so slowly.
Speaker 3 (41:23):
Hey, man, she knew
what she was doing.
That's why they've been marriedfor so long.
Speaker 2 (41:28):
That's the secret to
success.
No, question.
Give it hints and make ithappen.
Speaker 3 (41:35):

my daughters.
This is the last couple ofmonths that my oldest daughter
is going to be home, so we aretrying to bond and have some
really good time together andwe're doing it and that's
(42:29):
something good.

into college, but this issomething that is supposed to
happen.
I keep telling myself, and meand my wife, or particularly my
wife, that is supposed to happen.
I keep telling myself, me andmy wife, or particularly my wife
, has done something rightbecause she graduated high

lately, but I will say numberone.
This is a mental healthawareness time month for men,

Uh.
Then it got hard, yeah, andyeah, it's not hard as a
struggle, just really there wassome friction between me, but
professional it's just.
But it's hard work, man, because I've had some what we
call trauma wounds, and, andthen my 15-year-old girl cat I
