Storm Memory

On the heels of Hurricane Idalia, one of the most impactful storms of the 2023 Atlantic Hurricane Season, our first season explores the topic of resilience in the town of Cedar Key, Florida. In a small coastal town which has been making big changes in the name of proactive sea rise adaptation, we meet with experts across a variety of fields including archaeology, environmental history, architecture, landscape architecture, and coastal ecology’s we explore how the memory of past storms impacted resilience leading up to Idalia, and how the memory of this most recent storm will leave its mark on the town moving forward. Joshua Lubben and Abigail Hummel provided voice acting for narration of historical accounts (W.P. Delaino and Ellen Tooke) which were found in "Search for Yesterday: A History of Levy County", accessed through the UF Digital Collections and Copyright Levy County Archives Committee. Delaino's account is found in Ch. 7, pages 18-23. Tooke's account is found in Ch. 20, page 15. Intro & Outro Music from Mixkit Library - A War with Myself by Michael Ramir C.
