Welcome back to the Story of My Pet Podcast!
After a brief hiatus, I'm thrilled to return with a fresh season filled with heartwarming pet stories and spotlights on remarkable animal organizations. As your host, Julie Marty-Pearson, I'm eager to share how this podcast has not only grown but also profoundly impacted my own life and the lives of countless animals.
Over the past three years, this podcast has evolved from sharing personal pet anecdotes to becoming a platform for animal lovers worldwide. We've explored the critical issues facing animal rescues and shelters, emphasizing the importance of adoption and fostering in saving lives across communities, states, and even countries.
A Journey of Growth and Impact
My journey with this podcast has been transformative. It's opened my eyes to the complexities of animal welfare and the urgent need for support in the face of overwhelming shelter overcrowding. This realization has spurred me to take action in my own life, including:
These experiences have deepened my commitment to animal advocacy and reinforced the power of sharing these stories.
Responding to Current Crises
As wildfires ravage Southern California, the need for animal rescue support has become even more pressing. In response, I'm excited to announce the launch of our new merchandise shop. A portion of the proceeds from select items will be donated to organizations on the frontlines, including Marley's Mutts Dog Rescue and Pasadena Humane. Your can view and purchase the fundraiser designs in my Your Story Matters Official Store.

happy to welcome you back to thepodcast for a new season.
I know I've taken a littlebreak from sharing stories, but
(00:31):
I am back with some great petstories and some amazing animal
organizations to share with you.
I started this podcast threeyears ago to share my own pet
stories, past and present.
Since then, it has grown andevolved to become a space for
(00:51):
people to share the stories oftheir own pets, as well as to
shine a light onto theimportance and issues facing
animal rescues and shelters andthe importance of adopting and
fostering to help save the livesof pets in our local community,
(01:14):
in our state, in our country, around the world.
When I started this podcast, Ithought I knew a lot about
animal welfare and rescue, butI've learned that I only knew a
small fraction of the reality ofthe animal rescue world and the
overwhelming need for help andsupport due to the current
(01:36):
overcrowding crisis in manyareas, including my own local
community in California and ourstate and our country.
So I am bringing back thispodcast because I want to
continue to help educate andadvocate for animals in need and
help support the amazingrescues and shelters in my own
(01:59):
local community, as well asaround the world that I have met
through the guests who havecome on the podcast.
And when I talk about theimpact this podcast has made, I
really mean it.
I have learned so much myself.
It has actually helped me growas a person as well as in my
role helping animals and helpingpeople in the animal rescue
(02:20):
world.
Since I started this podcast, many things I have done for the
first time, includingvolunteering at my local shelter
, being a kitten foster mom andadopting one of our kittens.
I have adopted before, but I'venever fostered and been able to
adopt one to become a part ofmy own fur family.
(02:40):
I worked for a while for theshelter, helping with off-site
dog adoption events, and Ihelped many amazing dogs find
their forever homes.
So when I say that this podcasthas changed my life, I mean it.
I am honored to have you joinme here to hear the stories that
I am sharing of my own personalexperiences, as well as the
(03:03):
incredible stories I am sharingwith those of the guests I am
interviewing.
So thank you for listening andsupporting my passion, this
podcast and all of the animalrescue organizations that we
have talked about.
We want them to become evenmore visible and help even more
(03:23):
animals survive.
As I'm recording this trailer, Ilive in California.
I am a third generationCalifornian, born and raised
here, and just a few hours southof me, the community is being
ravaged by devastating wildfires.
It has helped push me to getthis trailer out and new
(03:46):
episodes, because I want to helpprovide important information
for the people being affectedand their pets, and I also want
to provide information to you sothat you can help them.
If that's something that youwant to do, one way you can help
them is to go to the link inthis episode and go to my new
(04:07):
merch shop.
This shop has items availablefor you to purchase that are
related to both of my podcastsPodcast your Story Now and the
Story of my Pet, specifically, the shirt I am wearing right now
, which says Adopt a Pet andSave a Life, as well as the
design that says Fostering SavesLives All versions of those
(04:30):
designs.
A portion of the proceeds aregoing to be donated to animal
rescue organizations working onthe front lines and helping
those impacted by the SouthernCalifornia fires, including
Marley's Mutt's Dog Rescue andPasadena Humane.
Again, the links to thoseamazing organizations will be in
the show notes of this trailer.
(04:51):
I will also.
In the next episode, the firstepisode of season four, I will
be sharing my interview withMelissa Brunson, the executive
director of Marley's Mutts DogRescue.
You'll be able to learn abouttheir rescue, their current
efforts and, although theinterview was done prior to the
(05:13):
fires that are currentlyhappening, they are supporting
the animal rescue organizationsin Southern California.
They are desperately in need offosters to take the dogs that
they currently have in theircare so that they can bring more
animals from those areas intotheir ranch in Tehachapi to take
care of them and help find themhomes and take the burden off
(05:36):
of some of the rescues that aredown there in the middle of
everything that is happening.
So please check out those links, support those organizations,
buy some cute merch if that'ssomething you would like, and a
portion of the proceeds forthose will go directly to those
organizations.
And every story that we sharehere is making an impact.
(05:59):
We are sharing stories of howanimals have been saved.
We are sharing stories of howanimals can be saved, how you
can save them, how you can helpto save them and how you and I
can educate others to takeaction for themselves.
Thank you for being here withme, for listening to my stories,
(06:22):
for sharing this podcast andfor advocating for animals in
your own local communities.
Every animal has a story, butthey can't tell it, and I am
here to tell as many as I canfor the animals that cannot
speak for themselves.
Thank you for listening, thankyou for sharing and, if you
